HJT - Virus driving me crazy!

Question: HJT - Virus driving me crazy!

HelloI'm in desperate assistance....I have tried over the last 4 days solid.Whenever i go onto the internet (Internet Explorer 7) i hear clicking noises and then hear movie sound clips being played and are also inappropriate for my young kids. I don't see anything, but it is downloading (somewhere large amounts of data). I had tried to download the various programs (Spybot, Adaware, etc) as recommneded but could only manage to download HJT (I'm presently shaped to 56k due to this virus and keeps dropping out).I haven't had a virus over 3 years using the current AVG Antispyware and Symantec AV which are upto date. I have recently detected and deleted Trojan.Virantix.C and followed the directions provided by Symantec but still have this virus. Please find my HJT and would appreciate any assistance before I go crazy!!Logfile of Trend Micro HijackThis v2.0.2Scan saved at 3:00:09 AM, on 24/10/2008Platform: Windows XP SP3 (WinNT 5.01.2600)MSIE: Internet Explorer v7.00 (7.00.6000.16735)Boot mode: NormalRunning processes:C:\WINDOWS\System32\smss.exeC:\WINDOWS\system32\winlogon.exeC:\WINDOWS\system32\services.exeC:\WINDOWS\system32\lsass.exeC:\WINDOWS\system32\svchost.exeC:\WINDOWS\System32\svchost.exeC:\WINDOWS\system32\svchost.exeC:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\ccSetMgr.exeC:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\ccEvtMgr.exeC:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\SPBBC\SPBBCSvc.exeC:\WINDOWS\system32\spoolsv.exeC:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\bin\AppleMobileDeviceService.exeC:\Non Program Files\AVG Anti-Spyware 7.5\guard.exeC:\Program Files\Bonjour\mDNSResponder.exeC:\Program Files\WIDCOMM\Bluetooth Software\bin\btwdins.exeC:\Program Files\Symantec AntiVirus\DefWatch.exeC:\Program Files\Common Files\LightScribe\LSSrvc.exeC:\Program Files\Symantec AntiVirus\SavRoam.exeC:\WINDOWS\system32\svchost.exeC:\Program Files\Symantec AntiVirus\Rtvscan.exeC:\Program Files\iPod\bin\iPodService.exeC:\Program Files\HPQ\shared\hpqwmi.exeC:\WINDOWS\Explorer.EXEC:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exeC:\Program Files\Synaptics\SynTP\SynTPLpr.exeC:\Program Files\Synaptics\SynTP\SynTPEnh.exeC:\Program Files\ATI Technologies\ATI Control Panel\atiptaxx.exeC:\WINDOWS\system32\ctfmon.exeC:\Program Files\HPQ\Quick Launch Buttons\EabServr.exeC:\Program Files\Java\jre1.6.0_07\bin\jusched.exeC:\Program Files\hpq\HP Wireless Assistant\HP Wireless Assistant.exeC:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\ccApp.exeC:\PROGRA~1\SYMANT~1\VPTray.exeC:\Non Program Files\AVG Anti-Spyware 7.5\avgas.exeC:\Non Program Files\Quicktime\QTTask.exeC:\Program Files\iTunes\iTunesHelper.exeC:\WINDOWS\svzip.exeC:\Program Files\Messenger\msmsgs.exeC:\WINDOWS\system32\svchost.exeC:\Program Files\WIDCOMM\Bluetooth Software\BTTray.exeC:\WINDOWS\system32\taskmgr.exeC:\PROGRA~1\WIDCOMM\BLUETO~1\BTSTAC~1.EXEC:\Non Program Files\HijackThis.exeR1 - Preferred Solution: HJT - Virus driving me crazy!

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

hey guys..I am in such desperate need of your help!! I've been away for a few weeks and my flatmates have been using my laptop. Anyway I came home and its got a horrible virus on it that won't go away. I think they downloaded an application from Limewire but I'm not sure what is was for as I deleted it straight away.
So I've run Spybot several times and managed to get rid of a few of the problems. The only one it can't seem to get rid of is command.exe. It says that it has shut it down and will need to restart before it can be fixed. But then when it does reboot nothing happens.

The symptoms of the virus are:
Lots of pop-ups in IE and Firefox. Quite a lot for malware and spyware programs and ones saying things along the lines of "Your computer is at risk..click this button now"

My homepage sometimes doesn't appear, it'll just be a blank page.

Google searches sometimes return random links

Sometimes a message appears saying "microsoft visual c++ runtime library. Buffer overrun detected"

The computer running very slowly and freezing a lot.
I hope that helps to diagnose the problem.
Thanks so much for your help (if anyone is able to), I appreciate it SO much!!

Steph xx

Answer:Virus driving me crazy..

I made a new post because I thought this was a different problem.

Before I begin explaining my uninteresting and stressful story, I wanted to just throw out there that I'm pretty stupid and you'll see the reason why..

My friend gave me a laptop for me to fix. It had a pirated version of windows xp and everytime I booted up, windows genuine advantage tool poped up at the bottom right of the screen saying that 'you have a pirated version of xp'. Well, retarted enough, I tried to find a 'crack' to get through it WHEN I HAD A LEGIT VERSION OF XP THAT I COULD HAVE JUST USED.

So I downloaded a crack from
http://www.mydigitallife.info/2009/0...a-patch-crack/
and this is where it all began. As soon as I installed the crack on the laptop, which had a flash drive inserted, the computer got a blue screen (it was too fast, I couldn't read) then restarted. Once restarted, I got pop ups and everything.. But the funny thing is, 3 other computers that were connected to the same switch as the laptop got the virus too! One of the computer kept restarting, one computer got a blue screen just like the laptop, and the third computer got pop ups (it shows up a fake anti-virus scan and at the bottom right icon tray, i get a BIG red X saying that I have trojan).

Thankfully, I didn't have any important data on the computer, so I went and did a full reformat (I always thought doing a full hard drive reformat and reinstalling xp will get rid of any virus..). After the full reformat, I in... Read more

Hi all,I'm having an absolute nightmare trying to get rid of a Vundo virus. Avast can detect it and I press delete and it says it's deleted but then either a while later or when I restart, Avast pops up again saying it's still there?!! I've tryed scanning the whole computer several times (each which takes about 7 hours!!) in both normal mode and safe mode - sometimes it will find it and sometimes not. I've tried running VundoFix, FixVundo and VirtmundoBeGone but none of them can detect the virus. I've attached a printscreen of the Avast log viewer in case this helps?! I've also attached a HijackThis log.If someone could help I would be sooooo grateful!!!Many Thanks,ChrisMy HijackThis log:Logfile of Trend Micro HijackThis v2.0.2Scan saved at 09:32:40, on 21/05/2008Platform: Windows Vista SP1 (WinNT 6.00.1905)MSIE: Internet Explorer v7.00 (7.00.6001.18000)Boot mode: Safe mode with network supportRunning processes:C:\Windows\Explorer.EXEC:\Users\Chris\Desktop\HiJackThis.exeR0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = http://www.bbc.co.uk/R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Page_URL = http://www.google.co.uk/ig/dell?hl=en&...amp;ibd=4080126R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Search_URL = http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=54896R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Exp... Hello. I am PropagandaPanda (Panda or PP for short) and I will be helping you with your log.I will need some time to look over your computer's log(s). I am still in training, so my responses to you must be checked by a coach. You may want to keep the link to this topic in your favorites. Alternatively, you can click the button at the top bar of this topic and Track this Topic, where you can choose email notifications. The topics you are tracking are shown here. Please take note of a few guidelines for this fix:Refrain from making any changes to your computer including installing/uninstall programs, deleting files, modifying the registry, and running scanners or tools. Doing so could cause changes to the directions I have to give you and prolong the time required. Further more, you should not be taking any advice relating to this computer from any other source throughout the course of this fix.If you do not understand any step(s) provided, please do not hesitate to ask. I would much rather clarify instructions or explain them differently than have something important broken.Even if things appear to be better, it may not mean we are finished. Please continue to follow my instructions and reply back until I give you the "all clean". We do not want to clean you part-way, only to have the system re-infect itself. i recently switched isps to sbc/yahoo dial-up. after installing and registering the software via the cd, i connected for the first time. immediately, avguard detected a virus- msblast.exe.vir, which contains the worm lovsan.a. i quarantined the file, ran a full virus scan, and deleted the infected file. however, whenever i'm online, the "countdown to shutdown" window associated with msblast still appears. i've run a full virus scan after every incident, and have deleted the bad files everytime, but when i'm online, the virus still pops up. i've deleted all temp internet files, ran spybot, adaware, etc., etc. my hijack log file shows no new entries since the last time i ran it (before installing sbc/yahoo software). i've completely uninstalled the sbc/yahoo software, registry keys and all. i now connect manually through network connections. can anyone assist me in assuring i've completely removed this virus, and can protect myself against future infections? furthermore, can anyone speculate how, exactly i acquired this virus? i did nothing associated with e-mail, and only connected to google when i became infected.

any help is GREATLY GREATLY appreciated.

Answer:HELP!!! msblast.exe virus driving me crazy!

My browser keeps re-directing to variouis sites. This happens especially when I click on the results of a seach engine query (google, yahoo, etc.) I've tried all I can think of (McAffe, Spybot, Malwarebytes, Ad-aware, ccleaner, etc.)

I've gone through all the prerequistes listed in "First Steps". Logs are below, and attached. As for the gmer.exe, everytime I run it, it takes many, many hours and never finishes, but does manage to hang up my computer (after about 8 or 9 hours of running), but doesn't let me compelte and save a log. Thus, I can't attach the file ark.txt.

Hopefully with what I've submitted, someone will be able to point me in the right direction in order to solve this re-direction issue.

Answer:Redirect Virus Driving me Crazy

We would need a gmer log before we can help.

Let's try this version of gmer.

Download GMER Rootkit Scanner from here to your desktop.

Before scanning, make sure all other running programs are closed and no other actions like a scheduled antivirus scan will occur while the scan is being performed. Do not use your computer for anything else during the scan.

Double-click the file you downloaded.

The program will begin to run. If possible rootkit activity is found, you will be asked if you would like to perform a full scan. Click No. If no rootkit activity is found in this initial scan, and there is information on the screen, click on the Save button, and save the log file somewhere you can easily find it, such as your desktop. Post the contents of that logfile in this thread.

This virus has been plaguing me for some time now T.T I have both the coreguard and secure anti virus pro virus D: I had it before, and it infected my windows folder and i wasn't able to boot my pc, so i just reinstalled windows over the same HDD so that i could retrieve some files before doing a full reformat. I got busy, family used the pc for a while and then the virus crept from my old windows folder to my new windows.0 folder. Now it's eating up my pc and on top of that, it won't let me copy things off the pc because if I attach a flash drive the virus gets copied onto it T.T I tried using http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/virus-remo...-antivirus-2009But I can't get malewarebytes to run, and i cant reboot my pc into safe mode to use smitfraudfix. The only virus scanner that works for me right now is AVG Internet security 8.5, and that can't heal the system files, it only deletes them. So if i delete them I won't be able to reboot my pc. Any tips on what I should do/use?Oh and I forgot, I also have the cryptor virus T.T

Some types of malware will disable MBAM and other security tools. If MBAM will not install, try renaming it.Before saving any of your security programs, rename them first. For example, before you save Malwarebytes', rename it to something like MBblah.exe and then click on Save and save it to your desktop. Same thing after you install it. Before running it, rename the main executable file first

Right-click on the mbam-setup.exe file and change the .exe extension to .bat, .com, .pif, or .scr and then double-click on it to run.

If after installation, MBAM will not run, open the Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware folder in Program Files, right-click on mbam.exe and change the .exe as noted above. Then double-click on it to run..Another work around is by not using the mouse to install it, Just use the arrow keys, tab, and enter keys. ~ Courtesy of boopmeDownload and Run FlashDisinfectorYou may a flash drive infection. I have no idea what happened. This morning everything was fine, but now...I don't know what to say! A program called "Antivirus soft" appeared and kept on giving me these annoying pop ups saying that my comp is infected with a million viruses. I know it's a bogus software and it's in fact a virus. I can't even access any websites on internet explorer. I'm also redirected to these disgusting adult sites. Norton is doing a scan but it can't seem to detect this virus. I tried installing hijackthis and 2 other free antivirus programs, but this stupid virus won't allow me to open those programs. I can't access my control panel or the task manager either. OMG! Whoever created this virus should [maybe I should stop here]. Can anyone help? What should I do? I haven't tried safe mode yet...will that help? I don't know much about fixing computers...thanks for any help!

Ok btw I'm on Windows Vista, using a relatively new laptop.

I also did some search on "antivirus soft" and it actually has a website asking you to pay like $50 to get its bogus software. What a scam. I also read on another site that it's difficult to get rid of this virus.

Also I don't even know what to do even if hijackthis works. It looks really complicated from other peoples' posts. I am totally new at this...I'm wondering am I better off clean-installing my whole computer?

Hi all,

I'm having an absolute nightmare trying to get rid of a Vundo virus. I've also attached a HijackThis log.

If someone could help I would be sooooo grateful!!!

Many Thanks,

Chris

hey i am fairly new here and not sure for the procedures used. But my familys problem is that everytime they do a "google search" and click a "search link" it gets redirected to various weird AD sites and whatnot. As this is a main computer in the household, i would like to rid myself of the virus or malware, whatever it may be.

My question is where do i start?, i have read over other threads here but most of the replies were geared toward the forum author, as i could not try these options myself.

Where do i start? any help is greatly appreciated as this is a family computer used by 4.

thanks :)

I tried to torrent a program I need for school on my mac (verison 10.7.5) but it didn't work. Unfortunately what DID work was the sneaky adware called Deal Top that installed itself on both chrome and safari! It double underlines all these random words on EVERY web page and turns them into links for stupid stuff that the words relate to. I've tried everything to remove it. I've deleted all my browser "extensions" for both browsers, reset both browsers, and ran crapcleaner as well and removed everything it said to remove. I looked for it in a general search in my programs and found nothing. I deleted and uninstalled the original program it came in and THEN emptied my garbage. I've tried to get multiple adware cleaners but they either are for windows only or don't work with my version of mac anymore because it is too old. Nothing has worked. I've been at this all afternoon. How do I get this off my computer??

I have a Compaq Presario 2570US laptop. Of late, whenever I type something, whether in MS Word, Search Engine Search Bar or even in this message etc, my computer DELETES (backspaces) what I type on its own. Sometimes it deletes a letter, a couple words or every darn thing I type.

Also when I am in Explorer, it would "back" to a previous page until it gets to the first page I was on.

When there are no windows open, the computer continuosly "beeps" like it is trying to backspace something.

I thought it was a virus, but newly installed Norton found nothing. I also thought it was a hijacker, but Xoft Spy found nothing.

I "restored" my system with the Restore System Discs and everything was normal/quiet for about a week and a half, or so, and then the problem started again.

Really frustratung, cause I cannot type what I want and I cant seem to find the problem

HELP!!!! PLEASE!!!!

Answer:Help!!!! My laptop is going crazy (and driving me crazy too)

Hello Ralanders and welcome to TSF...

Couple of items you need in order to begin our process:

Please print out or copy this page to Notepad. Make sure to work through the fixes in the exact order it is mentioned below. If there's anything that you don't understand, ask your question(s) before proceeding with the fixes. You should not have any open browsers when you are following the procedures below.

Please download HijackThis http://www.greyknight17.com/spy/HijackThis.exe - this program will help us determine if there are any spyware/malware on your computer. Create a folder at C:\HJT and move HijackThis.exe there. Double click on the program to run it.

1. If it gives you an intro screen, just choose 'Do a system scan and save a logfile'.
2. If you don't get the intro screen, just hit Scan and then click on Save log.
3. Get HijackThis Analyzer http://www.greyknight17.com/spy/KRC%...20Analyzer.zip and save it to the same folder as the hijackthis.log file. Run HijackThis Analyzer and type in 'y' if you agree. The 'result.txt' file will open up in Notepad. Copy the whole result.txt log and post it in the forum. You don't need to post the original hijackthis.log (unless we ask for it). Do not fix anything in HijackThis since they may be harmless.

If you have a fast internet connection (broadband), run an online virus scan at TrendMicro http://uk.trendmicro-europe.com/ente...all_launch.php. Just follow the instructions on the site to run the online scan.... Read more

Relatively ignorant on this problem. I have a gigabyte GA 7zx motherboard with an 800 duron chip. Have a PNY nvidia graphics card and have recently put in a Diamond DT-688 sound card. As in the post below I can't get recording to work with the mic. I tried reinstalling the drivers again and now I am getting a message which reads, "There is no disk in the drive. Please insert a disk into drive\Device\Harddisk2\DR5"

I haven't a clue what this means since I don't know how to put a disk in a harddisk. Any ideas?

Answer:Crazy message is driving me crazy

Well its probably reffering to some kind of storage device you are using, if you have any beside One EIDE harddisk...

What's the Operating system you're working with? Do you have 2hardrives or a zip drive or something? A SCZI drive perhaps? Are you trying, albeit inadvertantly, to record on your CDRW drive?

Very Very long story short. The power went out here again. it gave us computer problems. Now the only problem left is The loading screen on Win. XP Home Edition. A few programs also run slow. Its not a memory problem I have 149 GB total and have 136 free. My husband said something about the computer is running in PIO and should be in DMA (at least I think that what he called it) He switched it to use DMA when available, but no change Says he need to chage it in the Bios, but has no clue how to do that. Please help!!
There are no Virus, Adware, Spyware, or temp files right now. I ran Disk clean up, Check drive for errors, defrag. I'm so confused.

Answer:Help!! Xp Driving Me Crazy

What exactly happens at the loading screen?

By saying some programs run slow, I assume you mean that other than that and the loading screen, the computer runs normally?

Evening friends

So - i have a dvd burner, managed somehow! to burn a few half baked home videos using Ulead and Pinnicle software...but im at a complete loss regarding how much you can fill on one of these disks, be it dvd-r or + etc.... and whats the best disk to mess about with ie, to rewrite things over and over while i get to grips with editing my camcorder footage and checking the playback quality....Does it take a while to erase disks...why cant they be like videotapes and simply go over old footage? or can they? please help?

While im hear, not asking too much i know, but its fustrating..i have the gear but just cant seem to get the results.

I simply want to put all my vhs stuff onto disks...i want to re-edit my stuff and put on titles..ok so i have the software to do this...back to pinnicle and ulead 9.0...but like everything computer wise...sort one problem out up comes another.

Please tell me, best method ( in english ) if i want say a 2hour disk of home footage..putting on a couple of my newly edited movies and outtake clips...what disk is the best for quality. And can it be done easliy what problems will i be facing...already it comes up with, 'this disk is not empty...etc' drives me mad.

Answer:driving me a little crazy

Us a RW disc for testing, they can be written too many times.. Only takes a short time to erase.

Time wise the amount of footage you can put on disc depends on the bitrate. You could if you wanted get up to 7+ hours on a single 4.7 GB DVD using a very low bitrate.

Low bitrate makes a lower quality video though. There's a calculator here to help you determine bitrate: http://www.videohelp.com/calc.htm

For VHS 6000 is more than sufficient to maintain quality, that will give you about 1 1/2 hours of video on a single DVD. You can lower it, get yourself that RW and find out what's acceptable to you.

Question: Driving me crazy !

This network thing is driving me up the wall. I have this new Desktop PC with Vista SP-1 64 bit. We will call this one #1.
#2 is also a Desktop with Vista SP-1
#3 Is a Laptop with Vista SP-1, all are HP products.
My network has a D-Link N wireless Router, and it is all set up and running fine except for this one thing that I cannot resolve.
From #1... I can see #2 & #3 and open all the public folders without a password.
When I try to see #1 from either #2 or #3 I am asked for a password and user name.
I have turned everything I know of, related to passwords off on #1, yet it is still asking.
I feel it is something in the new #1 PC
I use all the usernames I know along with my password to no avail...
Any help will be greatly appreciated...

Answer:Driving me crazy !

I've been at this for a couple of days now, and going over all the settings on my other two PC's I noticed in the "Network & Sharing " that the "Turn off password protected sharing" was indeed turned off. Checking my new PC it was still on.
I could kick myself for overlooking such a simple thing, still I suppose that's how we learn.
All is fine now.

I have this problem which started last night, and it's driving me nuts! I keep getting a sound like plugging and unplugging something into the USB slot. While this is happening, it also freezes my computer and mouse for maybe 3-5 seconds. This happens sporadically, sometimes continuously for 8-10 times in a row. I have noticed sometimes that if I leave my mouse sit for a while that it will stop and as soon as I move the mouse it starts again. I notice it mostly online, but it does do it off line also sometimes. Please help!

I am running windows 7 home premium with internet explorer 9 on a HP laptop.  When I try to download a video file more times than not the download gets stuck at 99% with 1 second remaining.  I leave it alone then a few minuter later I get a popup at the bottom of the screen saying this download was interrupted.  Then when I click resume nothing happens.  It always seems to happen when I try to download a video that I want to see badly.  I am downloading these videos from sites like depositfiles, ryushare, filefactory, etc.  I have gooled the problem but cant get a straight answer.  I have tried running in no add ons mode, resetting internet explorer settings, clearing out temp files, cleaning up registry.  Does anyone know how I can prevent this from happening again?  Its driving me out of my cotton picking mind.

Answer:This Is Driving Me crazy

The only suggestion I have is try a different browser. Post the results when/if you use a different one.

Question: driving me crazy!

I need a little help, I know most of you will laugh at me for being so stupid, but I am trying to learn all of this. First of all, I have 5 computers networked, w/swbell DSL, a firewall an antivirus protection, and running xp. Why is it that every 2 or 3 seconds I am ambushed by pop up adds so bad that I can not do my work? I do not leave my browser up, I have a pop up stopper HA HA the ad-ware program is forever interrupting me to let me know it has quarantined an unheard of amount of files. This is driving me crazy, do you have any suggestions? I would deeply appreciate it. Thanks Matti

Well, here's the deal. Over the past week, we've run all the good free programs (AdAware SE, Spybot, and I even tried Microsoft's Anti-Spyware.) All of the programs detected and cleaned various things, including:eXact.BargainBuddy, SurfSide Kick, osoa.exe, Adware.ZioCom.B, eXact.Downloader, CashBack, Bullseye Network, Media Tickets, CDT Software, 1800Solutions, E2Give, Midaddle, Searchmiracle.EliteBar, and MANY others.Eventually, after running all the programs, they all come up clean, but the pop ups and ads come back. There's something missing, but we're not sure what. (It's not my computer, as it's someone else in the office, so I'm not sure what's going on down there.) A few days ago I was eating lunch went to the kitchen and my pc had rebooted not by me. Ever since the thing has run very slow, and seems like loads of things are running.

When it started up, my symantec had the msg pop up saying "Live Update Warning! There is not enough disk space to install all available updates. Click 'Yes' for help on freeing up disk space." There was 72G free just before the pc rebooted, with about 35G in the recycle bin. Now only 1 file in the recycle bin and I've gotten several different sized free when I go to my computer to see properties of c drive. I've gotten 72G, 44g, 0 space and a few others.

I ran Malwarebytes, Ad-aware, and Avast in safe mode, all of which said it found something, and I needed to reboot to let it work at start up, but none actually came back on when windows started.

Stored videos/music run VERY slow, if I type something in the google chrome search bar and hit enter, most of the time nothing happens. The strangest thing seems to be that the longer it runs the slower it gets... Usually Ican figure this stuff out but this one is driving me crazy! Thanks in advance!!!

I keep getting partypoker, winfixer and other random pop-ups which are driving me crazy. This happens even when I do not have IE running. Stupidly, I'd left my laptop on the other night with the volume up as I'd been watching a movie. At approximately 3am, I was awakened by someone shouting. After recovering from my heart attack, I realised that the shouting was coming from the computer. I need to get this crap off of my computer.

I use Zone Alarms firewall, Symantec AntiVirus along with Spybot, Spy Sweeper and Microsoft AntiSpyware and they all find nothing. I've read 1000 forums, tried using Virtumundobegone (which found nothing apart from the odd statcounter cookie) and have tried to analyse my own Hijackthis log but cannot see anything that is mentioned on the web (arggh - I just got another partypoker popup as i type this).

hii have a 8 month gameing laptop and aol keeps crashing loosing the connection with 512 BB Is their any way i can get acces into the service without using aol 9> Could it be the modem if yes i will be replacing it in a month!

Answer:aol 9 driving me crazy

Install AOL 9 drivers for the modem (Broadband) without installing the rest of the software, the drivers are on the version 9 CD. I believe this also applies to dial-up as well. You will need to un-install all AOL software from your PC the use your username and password to enable the connection of a broadband modem, if dial-up then the same will apply.Use the new connection wizard to make a connection to AOL inserting Username/Password into your settings as you would with any other ISP. This will now give you access to AOL without the desktop or other software.Use IE6 or browser of choice to surf the net. For your email requirements, use Express or again any email client you wish. Check with AOL Keyword, "IMAP" for settings of Express.

Ok, so i built this computer about 9-10 months ago. i have had this problem from the very first boot up and i have yet to figure out what it is.

I realized it for the first time when i started playing WoW. Every few minutes, my computer freezes up and the sound starts stuttering. This will go on for 4-5 seconds then normal play will resume. This gets very annoying, especially in PvP.

I get the same problem with all the high-end games i play: Half-life 2, UT 2k4, etc. I can play the original half-life and other older games with no problems at all.

Also, when i try to rip music CDs to my harddrive, using either windows media or iTunes, my sound starts stuttering like it does in-game and i get the infamous blue screen of death.

The BSoD gives me this error:

STOP: 0x0000009c (0x00000004, 0x80545FF0, 0xB2000000, 0x00070F0F)

im not quite sure what that means...

My specs:
AMD Athelon 3400+
GeForce 6800
1 GB of Geil ultra RAM

Please someone help!! This problem is driving me crazy!

Thanks.

Hey all havent posted for ages lol

Anyway recently i just bought some new RAM

DDR-SDRAM 1GB (2 sticks of 512) Corsair

My motherboard is a

DFI LanParty UT nF3 250Gb (Socket 754) Motherboard (MB-010-DF)

To make my new memory run its best i need to know which 2 of the free RAM ports i must use for this to work.(my motherboard booklet does not say anything *sigh*)

Also i have been getting a lot more BSOD's. This usually happens when im playing battlefield 2 or unusually when im listening to music while surfing the net.

I can't for the life of me figure out how to stop this unusual amount of BSOD's or figure out why this is happening can anyone help me?

A reply would be greatly appriciated

Thanks and have a great new year!

Sauce

Answer:RAM driving me crazy!! :S

Can't really help you with the RAM issue, but have you considered the possibility that your computer is overheating? The BSOD's sound as though they occur when you are doing something that could require a fair bit of processing power (graphics or music). Maybe try improving airflow inside the case and see if that helps.

Question: driving me CRAZY

OK, so I've used 20 cd r's and tried compressing through operating system, but still have gotten nowhere. Trying to take video from an 8mm camcorder and burn it on a data disc, so as when it is put into any computer, new or old, it will automatically play. Problem is, video is way to big to fit on the discs and dob't know how to compress it through Nero so it fits. Have tried video cd, but end up with alot of file icons (which are confusing to clients) and have to open the proper file with the "how would you like to open this" whcih is also confusing and time consuming. Any suggestions? Anyone. Many thanks........Scott

Answer:driving me CRAZY

Most video files such as DivX and Mpeg4 are alredy compressed, and cant be compressed any further. If you really want to put it on a cd you will have to divide the film into sections eg. 1000mgs = 2x 500mb parts. As far as i know this can be achieved with windows movie maker, or any other video authoring software.

Hope this helps, if you really want it on one cd, try a Dual Layer DVD rewirter you'll be able to fit it on there.

I hope someone can help me fast, but I have an HP computer with 37.2 GB harddrive, 256 RAM, PIII, but don't really know what the GHz are. But my problem that everytime I start my computer, it works somewhat fine, but it takes a little longer than it should. Then like an hour or two later, my computer starts moving very slow, with the audio becoming very slow and hesistant. As I move my mouse across the screen, it slowly hesistants and also takes a long time to open folders. It's hard for me to explain this, but everything takes long to do than usually.

Answer:Driving Me Crazy

how well do you maintain your computer?

there are 3 things which every user SHOULD be doing on a regular basis to keep their computer clean

1) you need a nice AntiVirus with up to date definitions. if you need one, I
recommend Avast! free edition, available on MajorGeeks.
2) Adware/Spyware removing tools. It's a very good idea to run Ad-Aware, and Spybot Search & Destroy once every week or so. also available on MG.
3) a Firewall. If you have WindowsXP, upgradeing to SP2 will give you a better windows firewall and some other security features, but be warned there may be some trouble if you do so. a nice freeware firewall is the Kerio restriced version, or ZoneAlarm.

if you keep on top of those three categories, you should notice a nice increase of performance from your computer, that is pretty easily maintained.

hi

first download and run winsock xp ,click here

and i am not sure if you made some pre cleaning ,if not :
do this :

do you have these 2 free programs ?

adaware se version 1.5
http://www.download.com/3000-2144-1...page&tag=button

update ,scan and fix anything found .

spybot search and destroy
http://www.download.com/3000-2144-1...tml?tag=lst-0-1

update ,scan and fix anything found ,hit the immunize button at the end .

Go here and do an online virus scan.

Be sure and put a check in the box by "Auto Clean" before you do the scan. If it finds anything that it cannot clean have it delete it or make a note of the exact file name and file location so you can delete it yourself.

Go here and do another online virus scan.

reboot

and post a new HJT log .

Recently I was running my desktop with 1gig ram (2x512), since the pc is used as "server" for small business purpose of running company software on sql i thought i could boost speed by maxing out memory.

So I bought 4 1gig chips and installed them, everything seemed to be working okay until ever so frequently the blue screen of death would show up and the computer would restart automatically.

I ran memtest86 and the chips passed, however in windows memory diagnostic they failed the LRAND test. I ran it all night and failed 80 plus times, all four chips.

I later found out that 32 bit systems cannot read more than 3.62 gigs, so i removed two 1 gig chips and now running on 2x512 + 2x1024 which brings the ram to 3gigs now. After running windows server 2003 for five minutes, bam! the same thing all over again. blue screen of death showing "irql_not_less_or_equal"

I know the RAM is the issue but why and how can i fix it is what i need to know. someone mentioned it might be the motherboard, but can that be the issue if only the 2 512mb chips work with no problems?

Please help.

Answer:RAM is driving my PC crazy!

You'll need to check each chip individual by having them installed 1gb at a time. I'd put the two 512mb chips back in and then one of the 1gb chips and see how that does for a while, etc.

Hi all. I've been reading this site for quite a while and have solved many computer issues with your advice. However, this one is driving me crazy. I have a Dell 1501 Inspiron Laptop. Here's the issues I'm having.

1) Keyboard Lag (on and off) 2-3 second lag
2) Can not shut down, restart, or hibernate XP from the start menu. I have to use the power button to shut down.
3) Screen saver will not work
4) Internet explorer 8 will stop responding after being online for 5-10 mins

Suspecting a virus/malaware these are the programs I have already run:
1) Symantic Anti-Virus
2) Spybot Search and destroy
3) Malwarebytes
4) SmitFraudFix
5) Combofix
6) Superantispyware
7) AVG 2011 Free edition
8) CCleaner

I am out of ideas. Please help. The next step I would have tried was Dr. Web Cureit.
Thanks

Answer:XP Driving me Crazy.

Have you tried a clean install?

The symptoms you describe...don't seem to be typical malware symptoms, IMO...while they do seem to indicate that your O/S is not performing as it should.

We ran this rabbit several weeks ago. You helped me get rid of them but as soon as i conect to the net they are back. I have done the read and run as best as i could. Bit defender found some ..exploit.. stuff but crashed before i could get a report. Ran it again and found nothing. I was clean until i had to change to normal mode to run panda scan and now they are back.

I guess you never installed HijackThis properly last time you were here. See step 7 of the READ ME ad get HJT installed correctly for future use. You have it here:

C:\Documents and Settings\Bruce\Desktop\HijackThis.exe

This is exactly where we request it not be installed.

However, you logs show no malware. Perhaps you should have followed what was given in the last message to you by D3m3nt3d in your previous thread. And that is:

I have 3 hotmail accounts that come through OE6. The last couple of days one of them started acting really strange. It started out giving my mail doubled. I had 2 of every e-mail I got. Yesterday, I noticed I could not send an e-mail. I got this error message:
"The server reported an internal error. Account: 'Hotmail', Server: 'http://services.msn.com/svcs/hotmail/httpmail.asp', Protocol: HTTPMail, Server Response: 'Internal Server Error', Port: 0, Secure(SSL): No, Error Number: 0x800CCC3D"
Then I noticed in my preview screen of the e-mail on the same account this message:
"Message could not be displayed
Outlook Express encountered an unexpected problem while displaying this message. Check your computer for low memory or low disk space and try again."
And a little box comes up with this error message:
"Outlook Express could not download the requested message. It is likely that the message was removed or expired from the server. Subject 'Recommendation from [email protected]', Account: 'blessed1202', Server: 'http://services.msn.com/svcs/hotmail/httpmail.asp', Protocol: HTTPMail, Server Response: 'Internal Server Error', Port: 0, Secure(SSL): No, Error Number: 0x800CCC3D"

The other 2 accounts come through and send just fine. Anybody know what the problem is?

I have OE 6 and Windows XP

Answer:OE is driving me crazy

The usual fix for this problem is to make another Hotmail account identical to the one that's not working right then delete the corrupt one.

Before going through the full malware removal process you should install, update and run MalwareBytesAntiMalware (MBAM). It's a powerful scanner and may well be able to remove the nuisance causing this.

Hello all! Nice to meet everyone. I am here because I really need some help. The pop ups on our new computer are driving us crazy. We recently purchased a brand new Lenovo ideacentre all in one type deal. Now, every time I open a new window I get a pop up asking me to download something like adobe or some other software that I don't need. Or it's a pop up trying to get me to buy a trial offer of some product. We also have floating pop ups all over the place. Like if I do a google search there will be an ad under the google name. Also, while I'm reading a web page there will be two little blue lines underneath certain words in the text and when I float over them expand into a link or pop up looking box. I read all of the sticky's and posted the logs from the directions here. I really hope someone here can help us...thanks!!!

Answer:Please help! This is driving me crazy

Hello cyclonesdmr and welcome to the BC malware forum. After reviewing your log I see a few items that require our attention. Please print these directions and then proceed with the following steps in order.Step #1Download CCleaner and install it but do not run it yet.ImportantYour copy of HijackThis needs to be in a folder of it's own. If it is run from Temporary folders the backups and HijackThis itself could be accidentally deleted if the Temporary folders are cleaned. If it is run from the desktop then the backup files and folders can clutter up the desktop and be accidentally deleted. If it is run from inside a compressed file then the backups are not created at all. Please open My ComputerDouble-click on Local Disk (C:)Click on the File menu, point to New and then click on Folder. Name the folder 'HijackThis' or 'HJT'.Unzip to or copy and paste HijackThis.exe to the new folder (do not run HijackThis directly out of the sfx or compressed file).Step #2Start in Safe Mode Using the F8 method:Restart the computer. As soon as the BIOS is loaded begin tapping the F8 key until the boot menu appears.Use the arrow keys to select the Safe Mode menu item.Press the Enter key.Step #3Start HijackThis and click the Scan button to perform a scan. Look for the following items and click in the checkbox in front of each item to select it:O2 - BHO: SDWin32 Class - {14F780A5-0519-4D60-AAF2-CD50AAC84935} - (no file)O2 - BHO: (no name) - {4A25D449-2BAA-4426-A992-D18CA70CF5A9} - (no file)O2 - BHO... I'm having a problem loading the motherboard software - using the express installer. Its an Intel board that claims to have USB 2.0 type ports, however after I had the OS installed etc. I pluged in my iPod only to get an error saying I had a fast device plugged into a slow port.
I then remembered I had forgotten to install the MB software, aso I tried to install using the Express installer CD that came with the board. This got about 50% through and then put the system into shutdown, upon re-start you get to the windows start up screen and then nothing, you never reach the login screen.
So I decided to start at the beginning again and re-loaded the OS. So I was back getting the same USB error. Then I tried installing the MB software manually (as recommended on the Intel site) but again I have the same issue. So to get anywhere I need to install the OS again.
What am I doing wrong?
Do I need to get the MB software loaded first? and if so how do I wipe the HD in order to do that.
Or
With the OS installed how do I install the MB stuff and get the USB ports functioning properly?

Answer:its driving me crazy!!!

The reason why you are getting the message is because your motherboard might not support USB 2.0 speed.

Read this forum http://forums.techguy.org/t340223.html and you should be able to find out whether your motherboard can support USB 2.0.

Where do I begin...

Well first, I had my homepage continually being changed to "about:blank" but i think i fixed that.

Next, every once ina while when I will just type in a website (hotmail, google, etc) it will redirect me to adult pages and popups one after another.

Besides that, a constant problem is that when I click on a link in IE, the program freezes for at least 10 seconds, with the hourglass mouse, and the little IE flag thing up in the right corner doesn't do that motion thing it does when loading a page, until after the program freezes for a bit.

FYI: I have done repeated virus scans, and scans using SpyBot search and destroy, Xoft Spy, NoAdware, and have used CWShredder (whihch I believe got rid of the about:blank homepage).

PLEASE HELP ME this is driving me crazy!!!

Thanks for reading this

I'm not sure what the malware is called or how I got it but I can't seem to shake it. About once a day I will get about 15 explorer windows popping open, separated by about 15 seconds each. They come to the forefront so I have to stop whatever I'm working on in order to deal with each one individually. Any help on how to get rid of them would be GREATLY appreciated... this has been going on for months.

Thanks!

Question: Driving me crazy!

Okay, every now and then when I try to install something it comes up with this error '1608: Unable to create InstallDriver instance, Return Code: -2147024894'.
Now I've been directed to this page 'http://consumer.installshield.com/kb.asp?id=Q108440' and i've tried everything.

Now my problem is that when I try to configure the DCOM settings it keeps closing. I run dcomcnfg and that works fine, I click Component services and that works fine also. But then when I click the folder Computers it just closes and it closes every time I do it. Why does it close? This is really driving me crazy because I can't install the software needed for my iPod that I just bought for $350 and atleast half of the games I want to play don't work either.

I am running Windows Xp Professional with the Service pack 2 installed.
Please someone help me.

I see no problems in the Scanlog at all. If you check the Process tab in the Task Manager, is anything consuming very high cpu resources? Ignore "system idle process" which should be very high.

Processors will normally slow down if overheated, so that might be something to look into.

Question: Driving me crazy!

Hi,

New to the site so hello all. I'm having an issue and I'm not quite sure what it is, when I'm on the net and using my usual websites (Facebook, business stuff etc) I could be on it and if I need to do something I may close them and sometimes when I come back I try to open the same website I was just on say 5 minutes ago I get an error message saying "This webpage is not available, ERR_NAME_NOT_RESOLVED" Keeping in mind I was on the website not long ago?? When I try other pages they seem to work fine, This is very frustrating as the only way to solve it sometimes is to restart the computer so I can get on the page I want. Has anyone got any ideas what this could be? I use Google Chrome if that makes a difference.

Thanks

Troy

I am trying to connect OVER the internet to a PC on a network.

Network IP addresses are usually 192.168.1.1xx - However, to connect to an IP over the internet, you cannot use the network's IP address (192.168.1.1xx). You have to use the internet IP address.

Is there anyway to connect to the internet IP address, and then specify which network IP to connect to (ex..: 192.168.1.100)?

If you are on a network, is there no way to access that computer through the internet???

I cannot figure this out and it is driving me nuts.

Thx for any help u have to offer.

Answer:This is driving me CRAZY!!!

what type of connection are u tring to make... examples- FTP, p2p, mIRC, vpn?

connecting threw a FTP, p2p, or messanger client is very simple.

if your trying make a connection like like a basic Lan network conection, except over the net, u need VPN software. there are some free VPN softwere stuff out there, i dont remember were though.

it may be simpler for u to just use a FTP client, or a Messanger client like Trillian, depending on what your trying to acomplish here.

witch ever way u choose though, thy all sorta connect the same way. u have to specify the port # inside the specific client(ex- like if u use cuteFTP) once u specify the port # and password on the LAN computer, the computer on the WAN side(were u are) also needs to be configured to the same port(or port range). and the router for the LAN comp has to forward that port(or port range) to the specific LAN ip, like 192.168.1.1XX.
------------------------------------------------------------------
FTP, mIRC, and VPN... alow u to specify a dirctory(or Directorys) to be browsed(and with permissions set-allows for upload/download) by outside users, using the specified port, and proper pasword/nick identification.

i havnt used a massaging client ina long time, so i dont know if maybe thy also allow u to set browsable directorys. seems resonable that thy mayhave added that feature by now, im not shur. last time i used a IM client i think u can only send/recieve files from buddys, not browse them, i think... Hi, Since I replaced the nic card on my computer, I cannot longer play certain games on Pogo.com. I have never had this problem before and its driving me crazy.

I can play games like Word Whomp, and Bookworm, but if I want to play Chess or Dominoes, the computer freezes solid and I have to re-boot. It lets me open the windows and choose a table, but when I click on "Okay" that's when it freezes. I have disabled the Pop-up stopper, but it does the same. I have tried playing from Firefox, but there's no change. What went wrong?

Pogo is the only site that I know of where they let you set up a private room, and since I play games against my young grandson, I like that feature a lot.

Has anyone in here experience anything like this, and how was it fixed?

Thank you in advance,

Annie

Question: Driving me crazy

Several months ago when I shut the computer down the light indicating hard drive activity would go out but the power light would stay on. I turned the power off using the switch on the power supply. When I attempted to restart the computer it would not boot up. I decided to do a clean install using the OEM disk that I purchased when I built the computer several years ago. I went through the steps of doing a clean install and the installation would get to the "completing installation" step and after a couple of minutes the screen would go black. I tried to use the Windows disk to do a start up repair several times. The process would show that Windows 7 was installed and all of the repair sets were successfully. I tried new hard drives and downloaded an ISO file from Microsoft. I read someplace that the ASUS A8N SLI Deluxe, which was the motherboard I was using, would not run windows 7. I had used this motherboard for about 8 years running window 7 but I decided to replace everything except the video card and solve my problem. Now with a new motherboard, new CPU, new memory and a new power supply, I am still having the same problem. The installation is normal until it attempts the last restart and it dies. I have decided it is me that is causing the problem but I do not know what I am doing wrong and must be repeating my error each time I try to do a clean install.
Any suggestions will be appreciated.

Even sending the error report doen't help. Also when I'm on PC Advisor site or any other site, there seems to be html code at the top of the page, and I have to refresh to get rid of it. So a friend and I have been trying to convert our DVD's to mpeg4 to put on his ipod video. We get through all the easy steps and get the finished product, mpeg4 files of our DVD's.

But, here's the pain in the ass... By the end of the mpeg4 clip, the sound is off from the video by many seconds.

We've been using Videora + DVD decrypter. And we just tried ImToo software with no luck at all.
What's the deal here?

Answer:This is driving us CRAZY!

You can download pocketdivxencoder to fix this. You extract to the VOB then convert the VOB to an AVI with pocketdivxencoder then convert the avi to your mp4. The exact settings were on pocketdivxenc when i was doing this with my PSP but it is the step that cleared up my audio sync issues.
