Preferred Solution: Hijacked And Loosing Work (employment) By The Minute!

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

You should print out these instructions, or copy them to a NotePad file for reading while in Safe Mode, because you will not be able to connect to the Internet to read from this site. Please download SmitfraudFix (by S!Ri)Extract the content (a folder named SmitfraudFix) to your Desktop.Next, please reboot your computer in Safe Mode by doing the following :Restart your computerAfter hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, tap the F8 key continually;Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu with options should appear;Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode, then press "Enter".Choose your usual account.Once in Safe Mode, open the SmitfraudFix folder again and double-click smitfraudfix.cmdSelect option #2 - Clean by typing 2 and press "Enter" to delete infected files. You will be prompted: "Registry cleaning - Do you want to clean the registry?"; answer "Yes" by typing Y and press "Enter" in order to remove the Desktop background and clean registry keys associated with the infection. The tool will now check if wininet.dll is infected. You may be prompted to replace the infected file (if found); answer "Yes" by typing Y and press "Enter".The tool may need to restart your computer to finish the cleaning process; if it doesn't, please restart it into Normal Windows.A text file will appear onscreen, with results from the cleaning process; please copy/paste the content of that report into your next reply along with a new hijack log.The report can also be found at the root of the system drive, usually at C:\rapport.txtWarning: running option #2 on a non infected computer will remove your Desktop background.

Dear Friends;
I guess my computer is hijacked. Whenever I turn it on, a window shows up saying it will turn down in 1 minute, and 1 minute later the computer is turned down and then restart. The cycle continues and I cannot do anything in one minute.
I need this computer to work on dissertation this summer and your advice will be very much appreciated.
best,
Austhere

Answer:hijacked and turn off in 1 minute

It's kinda hard to work blind (no logs), but I'll give it a shot.

If you're infected, it sounds like you have an unpatched version of Windows, as these symptoms are for an old worm.

I assume you're posting from another machine.

Please read this, and print out the information:

http://www.microsoft.com/security/incident/blast.mspx

Then, you should go here:

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en

And download to the clean system the Malicious Software Removal Tool. Save it on the system you're using to post this message, and carry it to the infected machine via USB stick drive, floppy disk or CDR.

Back at the infected machine.....

When you get the shutdown message, do this:

Go to Start>Run and quickly type in

shutdown -a

Then press Enter.

This should prevent your system from restarting.

Now copy the Malicious Software Removal Tool from whatever device you used to transport it to your system and run it.

Then, get all critical updates (Except Service Pack 2....it should not be installed on an infected machine).

When you regain some control of your system, do this:

Please download HijackThis - this program will help us determine if there are any spyware/malware on your computer. Double-click on the file you just downloaded.
Click on the "Unzip" button to install. It will by default install to the directory - C:\PROGRAM FILES\HIJACKTHIS\

Double click on HijackThis.exe to run the program.

ok so yesterday i was using after effects when avast finds a virus in my system folders. I tell it to delete it. After about 2 minutes my computer gets the blue crash screen. I try to reboot in regular and safe mode same thing. I use dell reinstallation disk to try and use recovery console but i cannot because the admin password is blank. I try a repair install and leave it on but when i get back the computers off. I think my password screen blocked it from rebooting. Now when i go back to the reinstallation disk the only copy of windows it picks up is D my disk drive.... if i go to the next screen with the partions it displays
- partion1 fat 94 mb
C partion2 recover ntfs 2048mb
D partion3 ntfs 746167 mb

my c drive is my main hardrive wtf happened did it mix up my drive letters? im afraid to try anything so i call windows they tell me to call dell dell tells me they can install windows on my machine without erasing the other one and then transfer the data from my drive to the new installation. Im fealling so relieved.... then they want 129 dollars!!! so im say no thank you! can you please help me to do this without paying 129 dollars plus tax.

You are my last resort i cant loose all my data please help me!

Answer:Please Help In Danger Of Loosing All My Hard Work

Put the HDD into another computer as a slave drive or download a linux liveCD. Either boot to the CD or boot the other computer, you should then be able to see all of your data BACK IT UP NOW (you should have been backing up all along). I don't think 2GB is big enough for an XP installation but do the back-ups and post back.

Hi everybody,

After searching on the internet and doing some disk assignment tweaks, i still can't find a solution for my problem.

My w10 was running fine every day when all of a sudden my pc got really slow. When clicking on the start menu it sometimes doesnt load and a reboot/shut down takes 5 minutes before something happens. Also loading the file explorer takes forever and when finished loading it won't show examples of files like jpg's and png's.

I guess it is a problem with w10 because the ssd where my w10 is installed is only 2 months old. Do you guys have any solution? I need my pc for work, so i'm really trying to find a solution.

Answer:W10 too slow to work with after a minute of 5

run this few things from Command prompt (As Administrator) first:
sfc /scannow
and
dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth
To make sure there's no system corruption.
At disk properties, under tools , you'll find Error checking > Check, that should check file integrity.
Did you run any AV checks maybe and Malwarebytes too ?

I have tried all the troubleshooting suggestions for my mouse problems but nothing has worked.  My mouse will work for one to two minutes, then quit.  If I unplug it and try another USB port, it will work for another minute or two, then quit again.  Has anyone ever encountered this problem?  Thanks for any suggestions!

Answer:Mouse will work for one minute

Is it wireless ?Do you have another mouse to try ?

So I run a p4 3.0, 896 ram and 512 kbps dsl windows xp

I live in greece so I use OTE as my ISP with a speedtouch modem.

My problem is, my internet will work for a few pages when I first open the browser and then when I try to open a new page (that im sure exists) it just pretends like its trying to open it but just sitting there using none of the network speed. (im sure this is the case as I've turned off everthing else including my anti-virus and whanot to test this)

the weird thing is that when i copy link location, close all instances of the browser, reopen the browser and paste the link that wasnt working just a moment ago. it works? It's some weird connection between my browser or ISP and the internet.

please please please someone know what to do!

Answer:browser has to be reopened to work after a minute or so

Well i think that you coulds try installing the drivers for the moderm or repair them. You could also try and download internet explorer and when the installtion wizards starts you should try repair, this should repair any erros or missing files, or if you still have the windows xp disc, you should try and install it again, this should also fix any errors and missing files BUT IF YOU DO THAT REMEMEBER TO BACK-UP TOUR FILES BECAUSE THEY WILL BE LOST AND YOU WILL ALSO HAVE TO INSTALL ALL YOUR PROGRAMS BACK ON

hope this helps, please reply gd luck

When I turn on the computer about twenty minutes is quiet. Than fan starts like a hurricane, slows down and stops. It lasts few seconds. The fan works in this way regularly with one minute intervals.
Is there any possibility to switch the fan on continuous work in slow motion?

Answer:Satellite L20-182: fan doesn't work properly - one minute intervals

Hi,

If you go to toshiba power saver you should be able to turn your up or down. Once you open this program from control panel, you have the option to change how much your processor runs as well as how much your cooling modules work. Turning either one down will make the fan not come on as much. Then you might want to try and use a vacuum cleaner to suck the air intake grills to clean any dust that could be clogging it up. Dust can make the fan run more because the lack of cool, fresh air entering the system to cool the cpu. Hope this helps.

I've been working with computers as a hobby for 10 years. I never did it as a job but I would really like to start a career where I can go somewhere and I love working with computers and it's a hot job. I fix a lot of my family and friends pc's. I really enjoy it. I posted on here before about it. My problem is where to even start. I have no college or any certifications. All my knowledge comes from message boards and just working with computers on my own. I have applied for several tech support jobs. Is that the place to start? I enjoy hardware and software, and networking. I thought about getting my MCDST cert which could get me in to tech support. They have a 5 day accelerated program. I only have about 3 months of unemployment left so I don't have a lot of time to go to school. The pay is low but I thought it looked like a good place to start. Does anyone think it's possible to start even higher by getting a different certification? Maybe a system administrator? If anyone has anymore suggestions from what I was already told I would really appreciate it.

Answer:Looking for computer employment

There are approximately 1 million unemployed I.T. professionals since the Dot Com bust a couple of years ago. You are going to need an education, certification and experience to get a job these days.

Hello all. Fresh college grad, just started sending out resumes over the weekend. So since I got time I decided to check out the Dice.com forum. Boy oh boy I spent 20 minutes on it and I feel like I just stepped into the Twilight Zone or some kind of nightmare realm. My god that is the most depressing stuff I've read.

I'm talking about the state of IT employment. Is it really THAT bad?? Half the posts on there are about how Indians with H1B visas are taking all the IT jobs and almost no Americans ever get hired. And how your only chance of getting hired is if you get a Masters degree in CS with 5000 years experience and only then will a company let you polish the boots of the janitor on a part time basis

Try spending more than 20 minutes truly researching this topic.

Posting something useful or about yourself, such as the kinds of jobs you would be interested in, would be a great start to having more experienced peers provide insight and research directions.
Edit: Here's a good, recent thread on a similar note.

In my employment as a deals and advertising administrator and as an authorized bug control specialist and field agent, one of the capacities I perform is investigating nuisance related news around the USA. I spend a substantial number of hours on this exploration, so I have a truly decent handle on which irritations are making news and which ones are of worry to individuals. The main vermin, as tallied by the news articles I've seen, is the basic kissing bug, Cim Derma Bellix ex, lectarius. These obnoxious animals have, to date, not been demonstrated to transmit malady starting with one individual Derma Bellix onto the next, yet they do spread dread, shame, distress and wretchedness.

Hello all. I have an X220 with 6201, latest drivers downloaded from the Lenovo site. Whenever I sleep or hibernate, when I resume computer (on Win7) I get either a litte red x or a little glowing orb on my wireless connection, which indicates "Wireless not connected - Connections are available".  But I can't connect for up to a minute!! If I leave it alone it will connect on its own. What is going on, this is really becoming a problem!

Answer:X220 wireless doesn't work for up to a minute when resuming from sleep or hibernate

If you can't afford to wait a minute of so to reconnect, then use Fn+F5 to turn off all wireless devices before you hibernate and use it again to to switch them back on when you power up again.

Cheers,

Thanks in advance for your help. It appears I have randomly picked up a virus of some sort wherein whenever I am connected to the internet, my computer gives the "Windows Has Recovered From a Critical Error and Will Restart in One Minute. Please Save your Work Now." message, and my computer restarts as the message states. I have run adaware and malwarebytes' antimalware with mixed results, and downloaded a windows malware removal tool, but none have completely eliminated the problem. I can turn the internet off via a switch on my netbook (it is a HP Mini 110-1100 with Windows 7 Starter), and when I have that turned off before I log in, the computer works as normal, but of course the internet is a much-needed tool. I have been working with computers and networking for almost 12 years, and have been doing sidework for it for nearly 5 years. I was in the telecom industry for 5 years as well installing/troubleshooting sonet rings, DS1/DS3 circuit and end use CPE. The telecom industry took a big crash and as a result i was laid off. Having seen the writeing on the wall I went to my local technical college and got the "Networking Technican Certificate" I am also taking my Net+ and possibly my CCNA. However its come to the point where I need a job, and I am having a hard time getting interviews. I was hoping some of the more veteran IT guys/gals out there could give me some advice. Should I include my telecom experiences on my resume? Should I drop that and stick with what I learned in school? Are there key things that employers in the IT industry look for in a resume? I am extremely frustrated and cannot for the life of me figure out what I am doing wrong. Thanks in advance.

p.s any employers looking for an entry-intermediate level employee in the washington state are let me know

p.p.s. I was looking at the linux+ cert and was curious if this is a sought after certifcation for employers??

Answer:New IT student hardup for employment, need some advice

I would definately include the telecom experience if I were you. Unfortunately I am in Atlanta, but we may be doing some hiring in the coming months. Currently I work in a group troubleshooting Frame and ATM circuits up to DS3, Cisco routers of all types, and Nortel passport switches. If you are interested send me your resume and when the openings come up I can submit it for you. No promises of course, but I have been told that there will be two slots opening up soon...

For me I don't see how this would be possible unless someone was genius enough to hack into a government database. That has recently been done.http://www.cnn.com/2015/06/22/politics/opm-hack-18-milliion/we were confronted with the fact that social security numbers were also seen on the black market, they were providing 3 years of ID/banking coverage, of course provided by the government.

I've been trying to create a search string using google to search for all open employment listings for a certain city (reading, pa and surrounding towns). I've tried going thru google help, and haven't found anything useful. I want to exclude agencies, job sites, and get hits only for the business itself. While I"ve been partially successful, I still get over 26,000 results. This is the search string:
inurl:employment 610- OR 484- OR "reading, pa" OR "wyomissing, pa" -agency -temp -temporary.
The 610 and 484 is the area code, but since some businesses do not want phone calls, the phone# might not be listed, so I tried also using the city, state. problem is, I do not know how many "OR" commands google will accept (considering there are about 20 surrounding towns I would like to include). Using zip codes might, except I don't know how to do that. I also wish to include sites with the word "jobs" in the url, in addition to "employment". I need to reduce the number of results quite a bit, any ideas? thanks.

[Sirefef virus]Hi all.It looks like I've picked up a virus while browsing the internet (Drive-by infection). The computer was operating OK except last night I heard it playing a video talking about meryl streep (through the speakers) but there was no window open (a bit sus). Then when I checked this morning, I saw that System Centre essentials, Windows update, Firewall and whatever Windows Defender is now called have all been disabled (computer still functioning OK though...).I then tried to reinstall System Centre Essentials and now get a message every time I boot the computer saying "Windows has encountered a critical problem and will restart automatically in one minute. Please save your work Now". This happens in Normal and Safe Mode.I'm not running a CD Drive emulator, and I'd love some suggestions on how to tackle this given my 1 minute window of opportunity when the computer boots. Thanks![Edit] Just tried rebooting my PC this morning, it looks like I have picked up the sirefef virus (or a variant) - the latest definitions from MSE picked it up. It's still doing the reboot every minute trick though, and the files keep reappearing after i "Clean" them.[Edit #2] I have used Kaspersky Rescue Disk 10 (http://support.kaspersky.com/viruses/rescuedisk/) to locate the original version of Services.exe in the winsxs folder and copy it back to the c:\windows\system32\ folder (after renaming the one sirefef put there) could have... Hi,
I am applying for an entry level position with a company, and have a question about one of their computer skill requirements ...

"We require knowledge and experience in browsing the Internet using Netscape Navigator and Microsoft Internet Explorer along with the ability to work on Windows and Media Access Control address platforms"

I have read up on MAC addresses, but cannot find much detail on what would be expected of me in this situation. Can anyone explain how one would "work" with this? Also, is this something I can teach myself or learn in a reasonable amount of time? Any resources that would be useful? Finally, do they mean Windows platform and MAC platform, or some type of Windows/MAC platform?

I am computer literate, but appreciate the use of layman's terms when possible.
Thank you very much for taking the time to read this!

Answer:Help with General Computer Skills For Employment Opportunity

I've been around the block a few times and have never heard of "Media Access Control address platforms" as phrased...

Perhaps asking them to clarify that for you will shed light onto the subject...

Hi, I'm hoping someone can help! I'm in the process of taking my ex employer to court and in the process to prove the dates that they have created certain documents I have asked them to provide me with copies of the "date and time stamps" or "property profile box" showing when they were created, I am aware that these can be tampered with so I'm not relying totally on the information.
Two of the profiles boxes they sent for two of the documents were dated exactly the same date and time and were obviously not the originals as they had been converted to pdf files. However on the 3rd document, which was supposed to be written by an individual it states the location as K:\cmm\program files\mailbox\Attach As an individual I have never saved a document to a K drive. Can someone tell me what a k drive would normally be used for and explain the location address for me please? who would create a document under the program files!!!!! Please help!!!

Answer:Employment Tribunal, K Drive & document properties!

Hi maddal1ne,

Just a guess here, going by the path name, that the file in questions was sent to someone as an email attachment and then fowarded to you. Assuming this, it is is a probable location for a mail program to save attachments.

It is unlikely that the drive letter has any significance.

I've been trying to fix this problem all day! My stepfather was cruisin some internet porn when he clicked on something that he thought was legit (he's very new to computers!) and managed to really mess up the computer with a backdoor trojan (or two, or three) which I believe I have managed to get rid of. For a while I was getting fake security alerts telling me I had all these problems. I ran AVG anti-virus & spyware, AdAware SE, Spybot Search & Destroy, Trend Micro Anti Spyware Venus Spy Trap and Pest Patrol. Oh! And I also followed the instructions I found on another forum to run SmitFraud. Each seemed to get rid of a few different things. The fake security alerts have stopped and the virus scans have come back clean. I've run AdAware & Spybot each about 5 times now and its still finding the same things over and over again. I click to fix or delete them and run the scan again but its always the same. I can't get on to any Government websites at ALL because of this and I really need to do that as part of my job! First, Banks, now online Employment Sites, Phishing amongst the Jobseekers
I guess this is the pointy end of some sort of wedge, as I have not heard of this type of site and its users being scammed before. But I suppose it was to be expected, now that it seems almost everybody is wary of emails puporting to come from their Banks.

The following email arrived from a jobseeker site at which I am alerting its users of a potential scam that apparently is kicking off.
QUOTE(Seek.com)
SEEK wishes to warn you about a fraudulent job ad currently circulating on the Internet.

-- WARNING ABOUT "PLASMA PROJECT" --

The email details a job involving the transfer of money on a company's behalf, and uses the bogus company name "Plasma Project", (or previously "Plasma Connection" or "Plasma TV").

The internet comes and goes. I'll have pages load instantly for a minute or so and then the next click the pages times out. A minute of page refreshing and more time outs and then I'm back to blazing speeds again. This repeats again and again. Restarting the computer, cable modem and router seems to make no difference. I've tried IE, Firefox, Chrome and Safari, and again, no difference. I have 4 computers on my home network. This happens on all of them but for the sake of troubleshooting this I have physically disconnected 3 of them from the network. I've reset and reconfigured the router. I've removed the router and connected straight to the modem. No problems. Blazing connection. Added the router back in the loop, reboot and problem occurs immediately. So router problem, right? Yes, except I had the same problem with another router and replaced it with this one. Answer:Work computer hijacked!

Run through Steps 1 and 2 here COMPLETELY:

http://mywebpages.comcast.net/SupportCD/OptimizeXP.html

Even if you have any of these installed, download them again and make sure they are fully updated. Make sure to run Adaware and Spybot in Safe Mode. After you are done with that Use Autoruns in Step 5 to clean up your startup applications. Then use the rest of the guide to improve your performance.

When you are done post another HijackThis log.

I had the syssecuritysite.com hijacked start page on my computer, along with the fake pop-up telling me I had to purchase their software to get rid of spyware etc. I received info on how to remove same. I was told to download SmitFraudFix, Spybot-S&D, Ewido and HijackThis. I downloaded all and was told how to proceed. I went through the steps, but was not informed to do so in SAFE mode! After I completed doing what I was told in each of the above, I restarted the computer. I no longer have the startup page, but it says "about:blank" and I can't change it on Internet Options. As well, I have high speed cable internet but it now runs slower than dial up. I have an HP Pavillion computer with AMD 3800+ processor running on Windows XP Media Edition. Can anyone help me get back online at high speed???

Hey guys, I'm new here so I'm not sure if there is already a solution for my problem but... whenever I open my laptop and login, I am greeted with a SysWow.exe scripting window, and then it disappears. It wasn't a problem for a while but then I wanted to open Internet Explorer. When I clicked on it, it opened, but as soon as the page loaded, it closed by itself. I don't know how to fix this. I don't even use this browser, I use Google Chrome and it doesn't have the problem. Another thing I noticed was that sometimes I see Internet Explorer open by itself and then immediately close. I've scanned my computer with McAfee and Malwarebytes numerous times and the problem is still there. Oh, and another really annoying thing that keeps happening is that I'm getting pushed out of the current window I'm on and then I have to click on it to continue my work. It gets really annoying too, like there's some sort of invisible window that keeps popping up. So, if there's anyone out there who can fix this, please don't hesitate to tell me.

Back in the xp days all you needed was adaware & spybot search destroy & a good antivirus program. now with new OS's and smarter virus's,trojans, malware, you name it, its sometimes impossible to find these bots zombies creepy things that rename itself as your main process'.

one person said to me maybe somebody is buying out all the working spyware, trojan, malware removers, and fixing the updates so they no longer work!

makes sense spybot search and destroy picks up shit! adware with a new look much heavier tool on your comp, superantispyware is just crap nowadays it only picks up cookies, malwarebytes searches for pirated software in fact I think all of them only search for pirated software.

my friend also said to me they wanna crack down on pirated software which is great but why do we have to suffer for other ppl. crack down on these virus makers, cant track them bullshit! If millions of americans can be tracked on facebook and activities being reported back to god know who every time you go on the net, and google watching your every move, than these virus creators can be too or is it you putting them in place, i wonder.

HUH? ow after purchasing Kaspersky it picked up nothing, than I ran an old program noadware worked like a charm on xp..picked up so much crap that these so called commercial softwares are not even noticing...huh what the hell am I paying for.

I had zbot.gen before, and I thought I got rid of it through counterspy and a simple registry edit. However, counterspy had also picked up something else which it doesn't pick up anymore. Currently, McAfee won't scan (it crashes when I start the scan), and Malwarebyte's Anti-Malware won't start up.

I've heard Oprah coming out of my computer. Lovely.

My restore points are also gone. I've tried running things in safe mode, and re-installing Anti-Malware. Nothing will get rid of this thing. I did notice some odd hosts in a HJT log, and fixed them, so my hosts file was just edited a few hours ago.

EDIT TO ADD: When I boot in Safe Mode, my McAfee says that my protection isn't enabled, and, if I try to enable it, it gets an error. However, under normal mode, it's fine.

EDIT #2: I re-installed McAfee last night; didn't work. However, CounterSpy is coming up with a TDSS.aegg trojan this morning, as well as Bredolab.G trojan downloader.

Thanks in advance.

I keep getting popups directing me to gomyhit.com, Cant access internet or control panel. It is also muting my sound and changing my clock back a few hours for some odd reason. I've seen some other logs with this problem, only difference is I cant find a way to get Hijackthis to work on my computer now. When I install it the whole preferences window doesnt come up, it wont start. I've tried renaming the exe from Hijackthis to something else, I've tried renaming the installer, even in safe mode it wont work. (although I can access the control panel from there)

I know its not a problem with the installer because it works on other computers like this one. Dont know where to go from here, definately dont want to reformat unless its the only option.

Ad aware doesnt get it, Norton doesnt get it, tried one other spyware remover before I lost internet access and it didnt find anything either.

Edit: Found a way to get Hijackthis to work, had to rename it and change the default directory, idiot mistake on my part.

Hello, thanks for reading my post. Heres my situation:

Windows xp MCE sp2

About 6 hours ago, I was surfing the net with firefox, when I was redirected to another page and IE opened. As soon as that happened, I killed both firefox and IE with task manager, but it was too late I think.

First and foremost I had a bubble pop up from the start bar, which looked like a legit windows warning, - it was about antivirus software, saying I needed to upgrade and to click it. However, I noticed the word prevent was misspelled in the text, so I checked out my processes. I noticed a few processes I didn't recognize, one in particular "a.exe". So, I disconnected my hardline to the internet, then I manually tried to kill these processes but they kept rebooting themselves. I ran HJT, and it was immediately terminated. I watched the process menu and noticed a process or two popped up and went away as soon as HJT was killed. The same thing happened for SmitFraudFix, and I was unable to run either program after they were killed the first time. After getting back online, I found a program from microsoft that scanned for click fraud virus type problems, but it was killed too. Well, then I located some of the corresponding registry keys for these processes and deleted them, but it made little difference other than fixing the bubble that was popping up.
And about firefox - it was slow, and I noticed that searching through google showed "Transferring data from wewewesearch.com&q... Read more

I recently tried the READ & RUN ME FIRST. Malware Removal Guide from chaslang. Below are my notes from the process. I stopped at step 3 in the XP clean up as I could not determine if I still had problems. My IE is gone; the file got removed somehow. I will reload IE and see what happens. I am concerned based on my last bullet below. It seems that something has come back to my computer. I attached the logs of the programs that did run.

Answer:Browser Hijacked, anti-malware programs no longer work!

1. You are running combofix from the wrong location:

Running from: c:\jeffs folder\XP Cleaning Procedure\ComboFix.exeClick to expand...

You need to ensure that it's on your desktop as requested or final steps will not go smoothly.

2. You didnt agree to HJT license. We will have you re-run MGTools in a little while because I need to see the Hijackthis log.

3. If you do not use Windows Messenger Run this Disable/Remove Windows Messenger to remove Windows Messenger. Do not confuse Windows Messenger with MSN Messenger because they are not the same. Windows Messenger is a frequent cause of popups.

4. Do you know what this is?

(If more than one file needs scanned they must be done separately and logs posted for each one)

Copy the file path in the below Code box:

At the upload site, click once inside the window next to Browse.
Press Ctrl+V on the keyboard (both at the same time) to paste the file path into the window.
Next click Submit file
Your file will possibly be entered into a queue which normally takes less than a minute to clear.
This will perform a scan across multiple different virus scanning engines.
Important: Wait for all of the scanning engines to complete.
Once the scan is finished, Copy and then Paste the link in the address bar into your next reply.

Nine days ago, February 20, Google.com started acting very sluggish, links to other parts of the Google website 404, and links in the search results always redirect me to askthecrew.com. After some research it's very clear that this is a fake Google homepage and that I'm infected with a redirect virus. I tried to take it upon myself to fix it but I have failed in doing so. I uninstalled Java and reinstalled the latest version and restarted, I downloaded and ran MalwareBytes, which removed some suspicious files and restarted, and finally I downloaded and ran Combo Fix and restarted. None of them worked, so here I am.Also, I know very little about system32 registry but I looked in C:>Windows>System32>drivers>etc and inside I don't have a "hosts" folder, but a "hostz" folder and some other files that I'm unfamiliar with. Don't know if that means anything.

Answer:Hijacked Google Search & Anti Virus scans never work

Hello Dyderich,Don't worry about HijackThis for now. I'll likely ask for a log from it later anyway, so it's fine where it is. I need for you to go offline completely and disable ALL your protective programs after you download ComboFix, but before you run it. Sometimes those programs interfere with it, and we don't want that! If McAfee still gives you problems then you may have to temporarily uninstall it. This tool is not a toy. If used the wrong way you could trash your computer. Please use only under direction of a Helper. If you decide to do so anyway, please do not blame me or ComboFix.1. Download this file - combofix.exe http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/sUBs/ComboFix.exe http://www.forospyware.com/sUBs/ComboFix.exe 2. Double click combofix.exe & follow the prompts.3. When finished, it will produce a log for you. Post that log in your next reply please, along with a new HijackThis log.Note:Do not mouseclick combofix's window while it's running. That may cause it to stall. If ComboFix will not run the first time, then rename ComboFix.exe to Dyderich.exe and try it again. Thanks, tea

I stupidly downloaded a file from Limewire which was suppose to be software for covertining music files. It never worked and since my computer has got worse and worse!

(note i am even having to use a different computer to use this forum)

Norton, aol and windows antivirus fail to find and destroy any viruses and all crash after so long of scanning. AOL spyware protection keeps blocking files called Virtumonde BY AND Virtumonde K, but will not let me delete them.

When connected to internet, no matter what web address i put in it always goes to the same webpage. Some kind of spyware i imagine. When disconnected something keeps trying to connect.

Other symtoms are -

computer crashes randomly.
computer restarts itself randomly
When i click on help and support it wont open and trys to connect to the internet.
when shutting down, the end task msg for - rundll32.exe appears
Safe mode does not work and simply wont start.
When windows starts and the screen to put in your password appears, i do so and press enter, then it flashes and goes back to that screen so i have to put it in again.
When windows loads up errors appear -
hpqthb08.exe application error
pchnotify.exe application error

Half of the system memory is always in use, even tho i have no software open (commit charge: 488M / 1248M)

HP PC SYSTEM RECOVERY seams like the best think to do (already on my computer) and just completely reset my computer back to factory settings but this just restarts windows and does nothing... Read more

Welcome to Major Geeks!

Please read ALL of this message including the notes before doing anything.

Pleases follow the instructions in the below link:

READ & RUN ME FIRST. Malware Removal Guide
and attach the requested logs when you finish these instructions.
**** If something does not run, write down the info to explain to us later but keep on going. ****
Do not assume that because one step does not work that they all will not. MGtools will frequently run even when all other tools will not.

After completing the READ & RUN ME and attaching your logs, make sure that you tell us what problems still remain ( if any still do )!
Helpful Notes:

If you run into problems trying to run the READ & RUN ME or any of the scans in normal boot mode, you can run the steps in safe boot mode but make sure you tell us what you did later when you post logs. See the below if you do not know how to boot in safe mode:
Starting your computer in Safe mode

If you have problems downloading on the problem PC, download the tools and the manual updates for SUPERAntiSpyware and Malwarebytes ( links are given in the READ & RUN ME) onto another PC and then burn to a CD. Then copy them to the problem PC. You will have to skip getting updates if (and only if) your internet connection does not work. Yes you could use a flash drive too but flash drives are writeable and infections can spread to them.
If you cannot seem to login to an infected user account, try using a differe... Read more

Hello everybody !

I finally decided to post my thread on this forum as I spent a lot of time surfing the internet for a solution for my problem and did not find one.

It's like this : I bought yesterday a Logitech webcam model c250.I got home , installed it and everything was working perfectly.

I got up this morning and saw this problem that came out from nowhere ! The webcam isn't recognized by Windows and in device manager in "serial bus controllers" I have an "unknown device" line which is supposed to be the webcam.

I tried re-installing it and update drivers ten million times and it does no good.I've read that many people with a similar issue had turned off the PC , unplugged the source cable , waited for a few minutes and plug it back in , turned on the PC and problem was solved...well , it did not work for me.

I really tried everything and I'm out of ideas . Someone please help me out..

(I'm running win 7 64bit.)

Answer:Please help...I'm loosing it

Welcome!

Could it be your webcam is fried? Try testing it in another machine.

Sounds like you have a bad registry entry, here's how to fix it:

This pertains to HP Notebook PCs with Windows Vista.

Some notebook models with Ricoh webcams did not ship with the proper registry keys. As a result, the recorded video appears to play in fast forward mode during playback. This document will help you identity your brand of webcam and correct the registry keys, if needed.

I have a Dell Tablet running Windows 10. 32Gig HD. Down to 5 Gigs free space. I keep loosing free space. A month ago I had 6.5 Gigs of free space. Today, I am down to 5 Gigs.

I have no idea whats going on. I have turned off Windows Auto Updates, turned off the Windows Store, removed all downloads to a flash drive. Un-installed all extra/useless programs. Running Ccleaner every other day. Only thing being installed is A/V updates.

Can anyone offer any help? I have nothing left to remove.

Answer:Loosing HD Space...HELP !

You might consider getting a SSD, solid state drive,
120gb to 128gbruns ~ $50
256gb ~ $100

If you do, you might uninstall a few programs & see if you can free up some space.
Then install Macrium Reflect, free version.
Study up on that product.
You would want to build an Emergency rescue disk first.
Then you could clone your present hard drive to the SSD.
Swap then out, and in most case you could them boot up.
Your old hard drive would still be usable just in case.

Question: HDD loosing space

I am having an issue with my HDD space. At times the free space on my Local Drive C: decreases by 2 GB.

If i reboot it usually increases back to the 2 GB i lost. I can not seem to figure out what is causing this to happen.
I read sometimes a virus can duplicate files, i ran numerous full system scans with Norton and Windows malicious Removal tool, they have shown nothing.

Also thinking it can be caused by Windows defragment tool but that is set to a weekly schedule. I think it may be a program doing this, but which one. Something updating, but would it take 2GB to do this.

I posted a Speccy file to look at what is on the system and running and on system, even though this could be something that is not always running.

Not sure what else to think it could be, but it strange, not a great loss of space because of the sizes having 2 drives on the system. Any help or advice is appreciated.ty

Answer:HDD loosing space

The hibernate file uses a lot of space. temporary files use a lot of space. page file uses a lot of space. unnecessary updates (old) use lots of space. Programs can use a lot of space, and may often update themselves.

Hibernate - Enable or Disable - Windows 7 Help Forums
Disk Cleanup - Open and Use - Windows 7 Help Forums

You could use an additional scan through malwarebytes free 'mbam' program to check if your antivirus overlooked some items, but other than that, it may not be too big of a deal. If you are still curious, someone else may provide more suggestions, as I've run out. If I think of anything more, I'll be sure to post

I suppose defragmentation might do something like this as files are moved around, but I'm not positive.

Along with this problem the shutdown screen randomly pops up all the time on and off? i have ran and always run Norton anti virus and use windows firewall. i have a hardware firewall wall ordered as I am always online. I feel as if it may be a virus, but am not sure. If you can please do!!

Thanks

Kevin

Answer:Help!! I am loosing my mind

Go into safe mode and run a virus scan with the most up to date virus definitions from Norton. Sounds more like a heat problem than anything else.

Hello. Iam loosing connection with an internet for a couple of seconds every time I connect to the VPN, Steam or starting a few other applications. I had this same problem with Win8 and now with fresh Win10 but not with Win7. What can cause this behavior? As you can see there are ping timeouts to google while VPN and Steam are connecting. Though no disrupts in ping to my router in the same time.

Question: Loosing AMD driver

Hi, I have a problem with my windows 7 that when ever I go to site which have videos running such as YouTube the system will turn off automatically and once I had the error (loosing AMD driver).

Can sme one please help ?

Answer:Loosing AMD driver

That is weird, when you say the system will turn off do you mean that your pc shuts down?
Need more info on your system.
Are you OC?
Is this a store brand or a home build?
Have you installed the newest drivers for all you hardware including your chipset.
When did the problem start or has it always had this problem?

Question: XP loosing sound

Have noticed after the pc sits idle for a while, the sound is dissappearing. Otherwise the sound works as normal up to this point.

itunes giving the error. (will not play through a recording soundtrack, visuals on podcasts work but without audio)

control panel > IDT Audio Control Panel giving the error.

Noticed this happened after installing a new Samsung laser printer, SCX-4623f although this could be a coincidence. (to the best of my recollection)

Have checked through device manager and there are no hardware conflicts.

IDT High Definition Audio CODEC -- think this was intel but cannot remember.
Should I try an update or uninstall and reinstall?

Suggestions?

Answer:XP loosing sound

Should I try an update or uninstall and reinstall?Click to expand...

Yes. Uninstall and reinstall may solve the problem...a driver update might also be a good idea if there's the odd chance that an iTunes update is conflicting in some way with the older Audio Driver.

IDT (Integrated Device Techology) Semiconductor Solutions made the chip, but they recommend getting updated drivers from the manufacturer of your computer---Dell, Gateway, HP,Sony, Panasonic, and Toshiba all use that chip.

If you can't find the driver yourself, put a bit more system information up and we'll help you to find it.

Greetings, and welcome to TSF!

Please print out or copy this page to Notepad. Make sure to work through the fixes in the exact order it is mentioned below. If there's anything that you don't understand, ask your question(s) before proceeding with the fixes. You should 'not' have any open browsers when you are following the procedures below.

Go to My Computer->Tools/View->Folder Options->View tab and make sure that 'Show hidden files and folders' (or 'Show all files') is enabled. Also make sure that 'Display the contents of system folders' is checked. If you have Windows XP, the search feature is a little different. When you click on 'All files and folders' on the left pane, click on the 'More advanced options' at the bottom. Make sure that 'Search system folders', 'Search hidden files and folders', and 'Search subfolders' are checked.

For the options that you checked/enabled earlier, you may uncheck them after your log is clean. If we ask you to fix a program that you use or want to keep, please post back saying that (we don't know every program that exists, so we may tell you to delete a program that we think is bad to keep).

Download, unzip to your desktop CWShredder and run it, then:

1. Click "Check For Update"

(If an update isn't available, skip to step #4.)

2. Click "Click here to Download the upate".
3. When the new version has been downloaded, click "Save".
4. Click "Fix ->"

Question: Loosing power

NVidea tells me my graphics card is not getting sufficient power and lowers my performance to a level that won't damage my card.

How can I overcome this problem. Already format my PC, but it did not make a difference

Answer:Loosing power

Sounds like you need a new larger power supply. Check your power supply output versus what nvidia says the card needs

Hi all,
I have read a lot of threads concerning the issues with SD cards, including threads on here. I did this as since last month, my rubbish HTC started displaying a message: About removing your SD card...
I did have a class 4 A-data card and first formatted it, reinserted it in the phone and it kept having issues. It would work normal for some time and would then start showing this message. Then, after some time, it would make the SD card installed apps unreachable and card does not show in the storage settings menu anymore.
A nothing worked and considering the bad reviews of A-data cards, I did buy a new Sandisk Ultra 80mb/s card from a reputable store chain, formatted it and since then - no issues, until today when I saw the familiar SD card removal message. Besides, my old card is plugged in my notebook and works fine with no issues for a week.
This clearly is not a problem with the card itself. This thing, the HTC, has by far been the most unreliable phone I have ever had in my life. During warranty, it broke two times, then it started loosing one audio channel randomly, recently started to restart on its own ( was repaired for the same issue when under warranty ), power button sunk and it drops the SD card which is now my main issue.
I am considering to replace it soon but until then am stuck with this pile of crap. As I read other users have reported the same issues on other phones ( SD card issues ) - is there a solution already and can you help me fix this?
Thanks... Read more

Question: Loosing connection

Hi,
I'm after a little help. For some reason my broadband connection keeps getting broken. This happened to me a few weeks ago and I ran clean-up, smitRem and Ie-Spyad and installed SpywareGuard and SpywareBlaster and the probelm went away. But its re-appeared today.
I've re-run clean-up and smitrem. I've run a virus check with AVG and run Spybot S&D and Adaware SE. But nothing is appearing.
Just every couple of minutes I lose my internet connection, and its really annoying.
In fact since I've run clean-up etc, I've lost the ability to change my XP settings on my desktop. And instead of the nice options of silver or blue, curved window bars. I have the dull grey, square window bars. And I cannot change it.
I'm starting to get worried that XP is on its way out and any minute I'm going to get the blue screen of death and I'll have to do a clean install.
Whilst this will not be the end of the world as I have all my data backed up, its the last thing I want to do now, because I'm right in the middle of my University exams.

Please help, I have included a hijackThis log if this can help at all.

Welcome to Majorgeeks!

Please follow our standard cleaning procedures which are necessary for us to provide you support. Also there are steps included for installing, renaming, running, and posting HijackThis logs as attachments.
Run ALL the steps in this Sticky thread READ & RUN ME FIRST Before Asking for Support
Make sure you check version numbers and get all updates.
Very Important: Make sure you tell us the results from running the tutorial...was anything found? Were you unable to complete any of the scans?...Were you unable to download any of the tools?...Did you do the on-line scans as suggested? etc.

After doing ALL of the above you still have a problem make sure you have booted to normal mode and run the steps in the below link to properly use HijackThis and attach a log:
Downloading, Installing, and Running HijackThisMake sure you also rename HijackThis.exe as suggested in the procedures. Use analyse.exe for the new name. This is very important due to some new infections going around.
When you return to make your next post, make sure you attach the following logs and that you have run these scans in the following order too:
CounterSpy - only for Windows XP, 2K, & NT users
AVG Antispyware log - ONLY IF NEEDED you were not able to run CounterSpy. - only for Windows XP, 2K, & NT users
Bitdefender - from step 6
Panda Scan - from step 6

Interesting...

Statistics can be & often are slanted.
"Popularity" of products waxes & wanes

IMHO tis far better to do your own research re the "facts /statistics/ evidence tested" & presented
