Preferred Solution: Emergency!plz help! MY INternet is slow! Pages load slow!

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

My system has been very slow for the last 24 hours. Startup was slow. Programs not loading. Even the google home page wasn't loading properly.

I restarted my router and the issues seem to be better but I think there is still a malware issue in the background somewhere.

When I open Foxfire, whatever url I use, it loads very slowly, if at all. Most of the time I get "Page not found or server unavailable," or something equivalent. Sometimes the page partially loads. This has been going on for a few days and has gotten worse. It's definitely this computer-specific since my other computer does not have this problem. I've got a Sony Vaio using Windows 7. Thanks for any help you can provide.Edit: Moved topic from Windows 7 to the more appropriate forum. ~ Animal

Google Chrome has become slow to load and then it is very slow loading web pages and navigating round web sites.
From previous experience I thought this may be due to a virus but Malwarebytes has found nothing.
Can you help please.
Hope this is in the right place-if not please advise.

Answer:Google Chrome slow to load and slow to load web pages

Further info.
Noticed 2 instances of msiexec.exe running in Task Manager.
Googled this and found that if genuine it is part of Windows installer
but can also be a virus.
Did a search and found MSIEXEC.EXE-2F8A8CAE.pf
Googled this and found it is probably Malware.
If so can you help me get rid of it please

Hi,

I am using Internet Explorer 7 on a relatively new computer with a 6 Meg broadband connection. I have noticed a couple of things lately.

1. IE says the page is 100% downloaded, but it will then take up to 30-seconds to display.

2. My title bar in IE says "Tech Support Forum - Post New Thread - MicroBorg Internet Explorer"

3. Sometimes the computer just seems to hang. At various times. Shutting down a program. Trying to open another. doimg a "File Save". Random times.

Here is my Hijackthis log. Can someone help me?

Answer:2nd post-Applications/internet pages slow to load HJT LOg included

The P2P programs you have installed expose you to risks because of the nature of the P2P file sharing process. File sharing/P2P programs rely on members giving and gaining unrestricted access to computers across the P2P network. This practice can make you vulnerable to data and identity theft. It also exposes you to very malicious worms and trojans. You change those risky default settings to a safer configuration but the act of downloading files from an anonymous source greatly increases your exposure to infection.

Go to add/remove programs and remove all P2P programs from your machine!

Click here to download Dr.Web CureIt and save it to your desktop.

Doubleclick the drweb-cureit.exe file and Allow to run the express scan
This will scan the files currently running in memory and when something is found, click the yes button when it asks you if you want to cure it. This is only a short scan.
Once the short scan has finished, mark the drives that you want to scan.
Select all drives. A red dot shows which drives have been chosen.
Click the green arrow at the right, and the scan will start.
Click 'Yes to all' if it asks if you want to cure/move the file.
When the scan has finished, look if you can click next icon next to the files found:
If so, click it and then click the next icon right below and select Move incurable as you'll see in next image:

This will move it to the %userprofile%\DoctorWeb\quarantaine-folder if it can't be cured. (this in case if... Read more

Hi all, I have had this problem for about a week now, but it has gradually worsened.
As the title states, my internet is extremely slow, and I cannot load certain content heavy pages such as fileplanet.com, gamershell.com etc.
My laptop (Xp) is wireless, I have tried direct connection to the router to no avail.
My dad's desktop (Xp) is wired, and also has the same problem.
My mum's laptop (Vista) is wireless but works absolutely fine (posting this off of her's)
I am running Zone Alarm, have done multiple scans with AVG, Ad Aware and Spybot with no improvement.
I've tried using open dns, and flushing my dns.
I've cleaned up my temp files and cache.
I should also mention, downloads are completely fine.
It's JUST the browser.
At one point I had two instances of rundll32.exe active at once, but only one seems to be running now.
In safe mode, guess what! Everything is dandy, so it must be program related, and I'm guessing a problem to do with something within Xp.
I saw on one forum someone reporting that there was an unknown process checked in msconfig and some dlls in the system32 directory with a similar name, upon deletion of them all, the problem was resolved, alas I cannot see anything like this.
After searching ALL over the internet and seeing many people with the same problem, I have found no resolution, someone please help me out!
Anything would be much appreciated, I'm losing it over this one.. hope the info is specific enough for ... Read more

Answer:ALL internet browsers are very slow/cannot load some pages. Very specific problem.

Peerguardian seemed to be blocking most of the access to sites such as fileplanet, and Avg Web Shield was massively slowing down my browser speed.
This does solve the problem but leaves me a bit less secure.

After a few days of everything working fine, it's gone to pot. Pages are randomly loading very, very slowly or not at all, though sometimes loading fine if I hit refresh. Further, any video will buffer fine, play for 30 - 120 seconds then stop, say it is buffering and refuse to play. Downloads will randomly be ok or extremely slow. I spent 4 days on the phone to the tech support for my broadband company. We've established that there is nothing wrong with my internet connection or wireless (we even tried going through all the channels) and speed tests are showing real download/speeds of around 8Mbps. My flatmate's internet is working no problem. I thought it could be a problem with firefox and the add-ins I have (NoScript, Cookie Monster, Unplug, McAfee Site Advisor), although everything is up to date and I had consistently cleared the cache. So I downloaded IE and used it 'clean&#... Read more

a) Clear out all temporary files and folders -- use CCleaner http://www.piriform.com/ccleaner/download
b) Scan for malware spyware and viruses --Free Anti Spyware :-
Malwarebytes http://www.malwarebytes.org/

Hi newbie here so go easy on me

My mum has a realtively newly built PC (about 2 weeks old), and has XP Professional installed along with Norton Antivirus 2003.

She is using dial-up internet with an external modem, and although her default homepage (bbc) loads straight away after that browsing becomes progressively slower and slower. Some pages do not load up at all after a while and she is forced to turn off her connection and try again. She cannot access any secure sites at all (for her internet banking and buying things). She has cleared her cache to no avail.

I have been told to see if a firewall is blocking secure ports 443, 84 and/or 8443. I'm not sure how to check that? I'm not even sure she has a firewall installed at all?

Should she try Mozilla Firefox? Should I install Norton?

I've checked her dialup internet provided (lineone/tiscali) and there appears to be no problems?

Starting about 4 days ago, I had problems with web pages not loading at all, and others working but whole computer seems slow. My recent software installs were gotomypc and the latest Windows Live Messenger. Had no problems for at least a couple days after the gotomypc load and it worked great. The problems did come closer to right after the Windows Live MEssenger, but I don't know if that was the cause. I did a system restore to about a week ago (prior to both of those loads) without any luck.

I installed, updated and ran spybot with no findings, AVG same result, successfully flushed the DNS REsolver cache, emptied recylce bin, deleted personal data from Firefox.

I run Firefox (which was also recently updated), but the problem also exists on IE. I was baout to say that my CPU Usage was running less than 15%, because I was watching while I was having many of the problems, but not I look at it whileI am typing this and it is bouncing between 60-100%, with firefox between 5-25%, wmiprvse.exe at 13-25%, avgnsx.exe at 38%

Any help would be appreciated.

I've got a bit of a strange issue. Hopefully someone here can shed some light on it for me. As Iíve typed and typed this here, it got a bit long, but hopefully it all makes sense.

I've got 4 computers in my house, all listed in my signature. There is a WHS 2011 machine down in my basement, a desktop PC, a HTPC and a laptop. We also have a WD TV box and our 2 smart phones on the network. Recently we've had some problems / slowness loading IE pages, at first it seemed to be only Google which is our home page. The page would take minutes to load, and we got an error "waiting for GoogleĒ' in the tab. We first noticed this with Google on our laptop because the laptop gets the most use during the week. But it seems to also happen on other pages.

Because we first experienced this on the laptop, I thought it was a wireless issue . So I unplugged the router & modem and restarted them, which seemed to fix things, but only for a short while and then the same problem started again. The past few days I've been using my desktop PC because of the issue on the laptop, and now the same issue is happening up here. So I'm thinking that it isn't WiFi related and it's more of an issue with my internet/network.

I tried doing a "ipconfig /flushdns" running as an administrator and also resetting the IE settings (tools, internet options, advanced, reset IE settings) thinking it was an IE issue. Again, each of those migh... Read more

Answer:IE pages slow to load

it could be, at least partially, DNS-related issues. When seeing "Waiting on www.url.com" could certainly mean that it's still trying to resolve the hostname to an IP.

So... first thing you could try is changing the DNS servers on one of your machines and see if that makes a different.
You can use Google's.

Web Pages Load Slow

I donít know how long I have had the problem with pages loading slow for both of my browsers. It probably has been 6 months. I have tried a number of things and nothing seems to work. What I have done is listed below.

1. Firefox takes at least 1 minute to open at start up.
2. Internet Explorer takes 1 minute to load at startup
3. Pages seem to take 2 minutes or more to load

Computer Info
1. Pentium 4 2.66 GHz, 1,024 Mb memory
Windows XP Home Edition SP
NVIDIA GeForce4 MX4000
Default Browser Firefox: 17.0.1
Other Browser: Internet Explorer 7.0.5730.13

What steps have I taken?

1. Changed AVG Free to Charter Security Suite with F-Secure.
Charter Security Suite Online Scan found 4 iexplorer.exe files that AVG Free didnít catch.
2. Ran CCleaner and the registry cleaner in CCleaner.
3. Ran PC Matic at PC Pitsop. It found a lot of things wrong including Registry Errors. I didnít purchase it and run the fixes.
4. Ran a scan with Charter Security Suite. It didnít find any viruses or spyware.
5. I have read a lot of sites about browser is slow, pages loading slow, improving Firefox speed and optimizing Firefox. I did change a few settings in Firefox, but that hasnít changed anything.
6. Disabled Extensions and Plug-ins in Firefox except for Java and Shockwave.
7. I clear history in Firefox a lot more since I have this problem. I also have the history cleared out when Firefox closes. I delete all the browsing history in the Internet Options of Internet E... Read more

My apps and the rest of my system run perfectly. About a week ago whenever I open a web page it is very slow to load (sometimes not at all). Before this everything was running great (I haven't changed anything since). I am using Firefox (I also tried IE and opera and it still was slow). I ran adaware and spybot and removed all infections. I also ran my registry first aid platinum on the system. I have also tried different DNS servers (I think it may have something to do with this because my internet speed test is always high 7-8 MBs. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Answer:web pages slow to load

frequently scans either don't detect spyware/viruses or can't remove them properly.

I recommend download HiJackThis (google it) and run a scan and post your log here. Also press CTRL ALT DEL and see what your CPU usage and memory usage are when idle. But more importantly post the HiJack log.
Try this:
go to start->run
type CMD
at the prompt, type ping speedguide.net

It will ping that server 4 times, and show you an average round trip time in milliseconds. Do that a couple times for consistenty, and post what you are getting here.
But seeing as the rest of your system runs fine, it may be some settings you may have changed inadvertantly.

Please help - everytime I click to browse, my page loads in very slowly - for example, when I am reading the news and click on a link, the page loads in, but the text takes a long time to appear, I might get the heading the news article and date, but the news part takes a while before it loads. Also, when I scroll down the page, it seems to get ready to kick in the text after I scroll, then I have to go back to the top of the page to start reading.

Can anyone tell me what is causing this. Is my IE 6 browser hijacked. If you need to see a log of my HJT log, you will find in under a post I sent before under Security regarding programs slowing my system down and what do I need to uncheck under msconfig - startup files. If you can't locate, then I'll run HJT again.

Thanking you in advance.

P.S. The previous post I sent - no one responded to my HJT log file.

I would like some extra info. Do you notice Internet Explorer (IE) or Crome if it's installed loading slowly as well? I have noticed that sometimes and on certain computers that Firefox (FF) will load slowly. If you don't have problems in IE it may just be FF and nothing actually wrong with your computer. Do you have any other problems or symptoms?

Hi,

This logs looks pretty clean. Let's try something else.

Perform an online scan with Internet Explorer with Panda ActiveScan
** click on "Free use ActiveScan" located on the top right hand corner Click Check Now & a 'pop up' window shall appear. *ensure that your pop up blocker doesn't block it
Enter your e-mail address, country, and state & click Scan Now ...begins downloading 8 MB Panda's ActiveX controls
Begin the scan by selecting My Computer If it finds any malware, it will offer you a report.
Please ignore any entry it finds and wants you to buy the program for removal as we will address this later.
Click on see report. Then click Save report

hi guys

my internet explorer works fine with most websites, however, on a few websites it takes a long time to load and loads in a different way to others - it loads the background of the website first, from top to bottom, then loads the main content all at once.

an example of a website that does this is www.startwiththis.com

anyone have any ideas why it does this?

Hi,
I tried it with FireFox and it loaded the way you described. I think it's just the way the site was designed. As for why some sites load slower than others it's usually that some send the info faster than others.

This started when I was having problems with Norton so I removed it and installed AVG. I upgraded from IE 6 to 7 and it didn't help...the only thing that helps is removing AVG. So I installed PC-Cilling...same thing. So when any anti virus is loaded the internet crawls, but once you remove anti virus it flies. Could there be a reminent of Norton causing this? Help!

Answer:IE Slow to Load Pages

Do you have any IE add-ons enabled? Also, have you tried installing anti-virus software and using a different browser to see if you get the same performance problems?

Also, have you tried emptying the browser cache and cookies?

Peace...

Hi,
I hope you can help me.
I usually use Firefox but have recently started a new job which uses an online tool which has to be used in IE7.
I need to look at numerous websites and speed is of the essence but it's taking anything up to 30 seconds (occasionally more) for each site to load...not fast enough for my needs. I have Comodo Firewall (updated) and newly installed Avast (also updated). Have done disk clean up, disk defrag, cleared temp files.
Is there any way to speed it up as I may lose my job if I can't work fast enough?
Any help very much appreciated.

Forgot to add, I'm using a Toshiba Equim L40 with Windows Vista

Answer:IE7 very very slow to load pages

A few ideas

My first suggestion would be to disable any and all "Add Ons" to see if they are intercepting your requests.

In IE7, under Tools, "Manage Add Ons" and disable everything. Close and reopen IE, then see if anything improves.

I'd also take a good hard look at your Comodo Firewall. It is probably conflicting with the Windows firewall.

So, here's the deal....my PC was down for a little over 2 months and recently got it back up and running. Only problem was that the video card became unseated...one firm push and poof, it was back on. Well, after getting back online and all, of course i had a million updates to do...McAfee, Windows, etc etc... Well, during one of the updates, I now have IE7, no biggie there, except that it is loading slower than frozen snot when i try to go online.
Once online, it is a little more sluggish than it used to be, but not too bad.... tolerable, sort of. I cleaned a lot of junk out of the computer, as recommended in your slow computer forum, yet no avail. I have a high speed connection thru comcast via the motorola SB5101...(which was not the one that I was connecting thru before this computer went on the fritz...). Hate the cable guys.... when he switched my modem, he didn't leave me the disc, so of course, I had a field day trying to find the driver.... amazing how stupid one feels when they find what they are looking for in the spot they knew they should have checked first....lol. Anyways.. that is resolved and the old modem has been removed from the computer...i think.
Any help here would be graciously appreciated.

Thanks,
LA Hilton

Also, How do i change my mail settings in IE7 to import from my comcast addy and not my hotmail/msn?

Answer:Ie7/ Slow To Load Web Pages/pc Was Down For 2 Mos

I suspect the slow speed of IE7 webpage loading is caused by the anti-phishing tool. I've noticed that my IE7 takes about 3 times as long to load up pages as IE6 did and I see that the anti-phishing button is active.

I'm posting this here because I'm not sure where to go. Please move me to the appropriate place if somewhere else would be better.

I use Firefox but tried IE and have the same problem.

Last week internet pages started loading slowly and rarely fully load. It will take a minute or more for a simple page like Google to open. Fuller pages like a news site will take upwards of 5 minutes and still not fully load. They continually say waiting, transferring, or looking up in the bottom left corner. The refresh arrow on the URL bar remains an X.

I have run virus scan, McAfee Virus Scan Plus. I have also run Spybot and Malwarebytes Anti-Malware as well. None of them have found anything.

Thinking maybe I have a router/Wi-fi issue I have disconnected Wi-fi and wired into the modem. No better. Have a desktop pc (wired), Android tablet and Nintendo Wii (both Wi-fi) and nothing else is having problems.

There do not seem to be any other signs of problem on laptop. I can run other things - games, office programs and such and everything opens and operates fine.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Dawn

When I go to any web page it takes at least 30 seconds for the page to load. On the left of the lower task bar it says looking for www.whatever the it says waiting on www.whatever, then after what seems like an eternity it loads. I think this started after I ran PC Pitstop Optimizer but I am not sure of the exact timeline. I have done a system restore, uninstalled then reinstalled IE7. I have Zone Alarm Internet Security and have updated and scanned with SpySweeper, Adaware, Spybot and Trend Micro. Does anybody have an idea as to what I should do next? Thanks.

Hey guys,

I'm hoping someone can help me out with this annoying problem.

I have a 14MB connection. Yesterday I noticed that web pages with advertising on them seem to load in very slowly. The hotmail sign in page loads in instantly and the only thing I notice different is that it's not spammed up with advertisements.

I've uninstalled ActiveX, Flash, and Java, and reinstalled them. I've also run Malwarebytes and my system was clean. I have Kaspersky Internet Security 2010 with an active subscription and a clean bill of health. This problem occurs with all of my browsers, Chrome, Firefox and IE. Tracert gives me good readings. I did a system restore back 8 days, and I still have this problem.

What happens is the following: The webpage loads in, but stops responding for about 15 seconds, sometimes Google Chrome asks me if I want to kill the page. At the bottom it always says something like: Waiting for ad.yieldmanager.com or
bids.open.net or ad.g.net. It's almost like Active X is corrupted or something and is having trouble loading in the advertisements properly. Suddenly the ads load in and the page then becomes responsive. Before this problem started occuring the pages loaded in instantly.

I'm not quite sure what to do here other than reinstall Windows 7. I'd like that to be a last resort if possible, and I'd like to get this figured out because I'll always wonder what the problem actually was.

If anyone has a suggestion or h... Read more

Hello,

Hope someone can help.

A friend of mine had probs/virus with her computer. She got it fixed but had to reinstall the modem driver. This was done and computer is working fine, apart from explorer.

The computer can connect up fine to the ISP. But when she tries to view a web page it won't load up at all, even though the computer is dialled up fine.

Have checked settings etc., but everything seems fine.

If someone could help, that'd be great!

I have experienced a significant slow-down in my various browsers' ability to load pages over the past few months.

I use IE9 and Firefox18.  Most of the slow-down seems to be with loading ads and other content external to the particular website I am visiting (YouTube embedded video player, etc.).

On some websites, once they load, I experience freezing when scrolling with my mouse wheel -- text that blurs across the screen, etc.  This even happens on the bleepingcomputer.com site.

I'm running a 3 year-old HP desktop, wireless cable Internet connection, and have not had this issue to this extent until recently.  I installed BOINC 6 weeks ago, but the slow browser problem pre-dates that software by at least a month or more.

I've run MBAM scans - nothing found.  Online speed tests - throughput is fine.

Any suggestions on how to proceed in addressing this issue would be greatly appreciated!

Hello people. I'm new here but I've been reading these threads for some time now.. when occasionally bumped into minor problems.
Now I have a much serious problem, one that I have had before. My PC (Vista x64) is infected again with same type of virus/trojan that crashed my last OS installation. I don't know how I got infected .. this morning I powered up the PC and found that I could not load any page on Firefox3 nor on IE, Chrome. Also the Yahoo messenger would not login said something like "connection error .. check your connection settings...". Tried to diagnose and repair the connection, Windows reported no problems with the connection. Connection was there and ping was just fine but the web pages would load (blank white page) for minutes before displaying something in the page .. like text or something.
I rebooted into 'safe mode with networking' and all worked fine, also booted into Windows7 beta 32bit (I have them in dual boot mode) and it worked just fine.
I've googled these simptoms but couldn't find anything remotely close to my problem.
Last time I had these problems tried to solve them by myself using HJT but managed to crash my system and couldn't boot it up again
So now I don't want to do it all again and figured some of you guys could help me.. I've seen some magic done around here
I've already scanned the system with HJT hoping I could see something suspicious, but well .. I'm no expert... Read more

Recently I have experienced problems with web pages not loading in Google Chrome and IE8 - inparticular web pages such as www.yahoo.co.uk and www.facebook.com. A lot of other pages to the internet are very slow to load.

Having a dongle is quite a slow connection but this web page problem is getting worse.

Hey everyone, ive had this problem for awhile now. Ever since I re-installed my system with Vista for the secound time web pages have been loading slow, or in burst. Im a big linux user so I don't really know how to troubleshoot this problem. Ive tried every browser including: IE7, FF, OP, and Safari. All of them load web pages slow, when I restart and log back in pages load fine and after being log in for a few hours they start to load very slow or not at all, or they load in burst. So if I try loading www.google.com it might take 20secounds but as soon as it loads anything will load for about 10 secounds then go back to taking forever to load.

Ive tried looking at what logs I could find in Event View and nothing seems strange. Also ive loaded webpages on my other systems at the same time I try loading them on vista and they load fine. Ive tried on: XP, Mac OS X, and Linux.

Also ive tried turning off my firewall which is ZoneAlarm and still webpages load slow as dirt. I have scanned for spyware and its found nothing.

The wireless signal is good.
Any suggestions ?

I have used Firefox for a few years now without any issues. For the last two weeks it's been painfully slow to load pages, or not responding or script issues and Shockwave plug-in errors. It actually took me about 10 minutes just to get the forum website to load.

I use Windows XP, avast anti virus and run Malwarebytes weekly. The computer is virus free and malware scans came up clean for months. And to make sure it was clean ran Super AntiSpyware and that is clean. So was trying to eliminate what could be the issue I disabled all add-ons ,extension and theme in Firefox but that didn't solve the problem. Then I uninstalled avast and installed AVG just to see it there was some conflict with Firefox and avast but the issue continues. I also run CCCleaner.

Before I tossed the computer over the balcony I decided to try a different browser, so Chrome was my next choice but the issue continued there also. I never ever use IE but gave that a shot and same thing. So still not ready to give up I installed Opera with no luck.

Yes the computer is old but the issue is new and I'm not sure where else to turn to try to fix it or if the computer is just on it's last leg.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Certain sites, usually with a load of adverts go into whirring icon mode for a good 30 secs several times on my laptop which is i5, 8Gb, SSD, NVidia GeForce 825M. It's a recent-ish fresh install of Win 10.
This is both on IE and MS Edge.

The same sites are fine on my desktop i7, 8Gb, SSD, oldish ATi card.

Is this changeable in any way or do I just have to put up with the fact that the laptop will be inherently slower in this way?

Thanks.

Hello spotty mate I am assuming you mean both computers?? as IE I was under the impression is now Edge in 10.

Anyway sounds like you have picked up a lot of unwanted clutter so have you run any scans? if not run these

I am using Windows 7 on a PC. I use [email protected] DSL, IE 10, and Yahoo is my home page. I have problem after problem with web pages freezing, Facebook is one, but there are many others. Sometimes it is my e mail. At times there is a delay from the keystroke until the text appears, other times it won't type at all. The mouse cursor is behind the mouse movement and jerky. At times when I log onto the internet it opens very, very slowly or not at all. The internet is not a pleasant experience right now.

My IE7 is taking 60 to 90 seconds to load up to my home page. It then takes 40-60 seconds to load any other page. When I use Firefox I do not have this problem, it loads pages quickly. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling. I have also cleaned up any spyware, run disk cleanup, and defragged the hard drive, all with no effect. Any ideas?

After upgrading from Windows 8 to 8.1, Internet pages and emails load slowly. After reporting this to a 2nd level MS Support person, he still hasn't fixed it though he has spent a lot of time on it so far. I finally Googled about the issue and found that many others were having the same problem. I have heard that disabling IPv6 has corrected the problem. I tried it but I couldn't do the last step to create a new DWord. After upgrading, I installed the latest drivers for the motherboard.

This is bad. It's about like the days of dial-up modems! Why can't Microsoft resolve this issue soon? I have checked my Internet connection for "speed" and it's not the problem. The only thing I changed was the OS.

I would appreciate if someone could help me resolve this soon.

Thanks

Answer:After upgrading to 8.1, Web pages and emails load slow

Disabling IPv6 isn't recommended by Microsoft, check this : Support for IPv6 in Windows Server 2008 R2 and Windows 7 (especially "The Argument against Disabling IPv6").

That said, your problem might be that your router only pretends to allow IPv6 connectivity but actually doesn't. You can try and find if there's a recent update for your router's driver (it should be accessible from your router's admin page, check your manual on how to get to it), also check your network card drivers.

You can simply uncheck IPv6 in your network card configuration (Control Panel > Network and Sharing > Change adapter settings > Select your adapter > Properties > Uncheck IPv6)

If this doesnt work then follow the MS guide to disable it How to disable IP version 6 or its specific components in Windows
Follow the manual procedure, don't run the fixit.

You mentioned being unable to complete one of the steps. Make sure to run regedit as administrator.

In Windows 7 (of course), my problem is that IE is very slow to load web pages and also slow to respond to clicks such as menu clicks. It became virtually unusable last evening, taking 30 minutes or more to load a single page, and then an equally long time to respond to every click.

Here is what I've tried.

First, I wondered if there was a virus, so I booted from the Kaspersky Rescue Disk and ran a scan of the boot sectors. No malware found. I started a scan of the whole C drive. Five hours later it was still going, and apparently it was spending most of its time in a folder called Content.IE5. It was up to 1.8 million files and still only 28% done.

This gave me the idea that the problem with IE was too many temporary files, so I stopped the Kaspersky scan and booted into windows again.

I checked the free capacity of the C: drive. It's a 500 GB drive and only 100 GB were in use.

I went into the control panel for the internet options and deleted all the cookies and history and cached pages and such.

IE was still unusuably slow.

Then, at the start prompt, I typed "shell:cache" and it showed me the Temporary Internet Files folder. I could see Content.IE. I entered it and noticed four folders named with random strings of letters and numbers. I deleted them.

IE was still unusuably slow.

I created a new user with administrator privileges and went into that. I ran IE5 and it was still unusably slow.

Any ideas?

Answer:IE very slow to load pages or respond to clicks

You might want to take a look at all your add ons/accelerators (tools/manage add ons), and try disabling them all. Then enable them one by one until the problem returns. That will tell you which one is the problem (if it is add ons)..

Hello!
I have recently transferred to Talktalk from Orange. With Orange, I had a D-link router set up to my WinME computer. My laptop & other computer (WinXP) were connected wirelessly. I had no problems with this set up. Now, I have transferred to Talktalk and use the Huawei520b router, supplied by Talktalk. This router is connected to my WinME PC. The WinME works fine on the internet. The laptop connects wirelessly to the Talktalk network and works normally. The WinXP PC is also connected wirelessly, using a Ralink adapter. It connects ok, but is very very slow when loading internet pages. To try to solve this problem, I tried connecting using a Belkin adapter. I also tried connecting using WZC. Neither of these made a difference. I even tried changing the channel of my network, but that didn't work either. I've cleaned the WinXP and it starts up at normal speed, etc...it is only extremely slow when loading web pages.
Help!

We have Windows Vista Home Premium, service pack 2, 2GB RAM, up to 10 MG broadband,

The computer was working very well until Friday/Saturday last week - when it became impossible to access any webpages, because the took a really long time to load or just refused to load anything at all and we were left looking at a blank page. We also are having problems trying to download any programmes.
Over the weekend I did a clean installation of Vista, then reinstalled all programmes again. I then ran the latest versions of CCleaner and DeFraggler. The computer was working well until we accessed Facebook. Then the slow access/download problems returned.

The slow download of pages is now affecting all websites including the home page.
I did wonder if the Microsoft Fix It programme might be of help - but I cant download it at the moment.

Hope you can help

Colin

It seems that the routine sites I visit usually all loaded at predictable speeds. Now the very same pages are sometimes quite fast and sometimes so slow they time out. My small icon of a monitor at the bottom of my screen (Win XL running AOL with IE deault browser) lights up when actually communicating with the router and sometimes it "transmits" for just a second, then nothing for 10 seconds, repeating until a timeout occurs. This happens on pages I visit every day (forums mostly). I've run self checks, repair commands, restarts, default buttons, etc to no avail. Is this a fixable problem?

Answer:why do the same pages I visit load sometimes fast, sometimes slow?

It actually doesn't sound like a problem. It just sounds like the pages you visit have times when they are busy and when pages get busy they can sow down.

The computer I have here at work was working fine until I updated to the latest version of Firefox. It was painfully slow to open but once it was open it did relatively well. I decided I'd rather go back to the old version so I system restored back to before I did the update.. Well I dont know if a setting got changed or what but all browsers (including Chrome) are very slow to open and load most pages. This computer is on a network with 5 others and its the only one with problems. I should note it pings and speedtests just like all the others... its got me completely baffled.

Hi there! This is my first post so be very gentle with me. I have a Toshiba Satellite )) running Vista Home Basic mad. My partner has a Dell notebook and we have had BT Broadband through a D-link router with no problems for several years.

About a week ago we lost the internet connection, although the router still seemed to be operating and the computers could see the router. I called BT who confirmed that their broadband was OK. I then spent over an hour on the phone trying different things that the BT guy suggested, none of which worked. He suggested we get a BT Home Hub which we did. It arrived, I connected it up and it worked fine - until I wanted to get to my email (Yahoo). Safari 'couldn't find the server' after trying to load the page for ages. \This happened with all my favourite websites - loading...for ages then 'can't find server' or 'server not responding'. Unlikely that all my favourite sites are having server problems.

In the meantime, my partner's Dell was running faster than ever. I have tried Firefox, and now Chrome, but they are only marginally better, and all my bookmarks are on Safari so I'm reluctant to change. I have AVG free installed and Superantispyware. I have recently defragged and cleared out temp files. I'm now stumped. Please can someone help before I defenestrate the Tosh?

Hello.
I had asked a similar question elsewhere, but perhaps I did not ask place it in the right location. Occasionally, when I go to a website that has intense graphic content, such as at MySpace.com, the photos and graphics that make up most of the page either do not completely load, or are very slow to do so. I have installed all of the graphics drivers that I am aware came with my computer. What does this sound like to you? If you have any suggestions and/or would like me to clarify something, please let me know. Thank you as always for your assistance.

Answer:Graphic-Intense Pages Do Not or Slow to Load

Hello again.
I just wanted to add that I was not sure if this is a software issue, but it seems like it, and that is why I asked this question on this software board. Also, I understand one possible reason this may be happening is because of a full browser cache, but the cache has only been filling up for almost three weeks. Is it possible it is nearing capacity already? Thanks again.

over the last few days pages are getting slower to load.Especially when trying to open google and yahoo. In the middle of doing stuff I get the message saying IE is experiencing problems and has to close.
Stuff is moved around on the task bar and the desk top.But its the slowness of pages opening that are driving me nuts.I have scanned everything 2 & 3 times over.
I run AVG 8.9 spybot Atf cleaner and everything says no problems.
Also for the first time since downloading the new AVG 8.0 I have 2 AVG icons in the task bar.One thats always there and as of today a second one that says AVG is scanning but the only thing that I can see is AVG says the resident shield has been running for 8.5 hrs. This little extra symbol is new and was it suppose to be there all this time??? Does it keep running?? Or is there something nasty that has invaded???

I will attach the HJT log and wait for your reply.Thanks.

(Not sure if this is supposed to be in the Internet forum or here)

This computer is a bit slow in general, but the main problem is during internet usage. It was always very slow to load, and it's gotten worse. If I try to add pages, it doesn't even try to load them until I actually go to the respective tabs. I often get: "The following plugin has become unresponsive: Shockwave. Would you like to stop it?" & "The following plug-in has crashed: Shockwave Flash." Then it started giving me those "this page has become unresponsive. Wait or kill?" and then "Snap, aw, what a bummer." Now it's doing that often enough that I really can't do very much online.

I have Avast AV Free, Comodo Firewall, Spyware Terminator running, all updated. I've run MBAM & ESET. A little while back I tried Autoruns but took out too much so had to go back to the latest working version. I just did Startup Lite & Startup Inspector. I also ran checkdisk, Disk Cleanup and Defrag. I try to limit the programs and even Windows components I have on the computer.

Using Chrome (w/several extensions) on a TOSHIBA Satellite M45, Windows XP Home Ver 5.1.2600 SP3, Total Physical Memory 512.00 MB (Available 123.83 MB), Total Virtual Memory 2.00 GB (Available 1.95 GB).

Thanks in advance!

Why do web pages load so slow, or not at all? I am running Windows xp. Sometimes the pages don't load at all, they time out. I try firefox and IE, they are both way too slow. I've run all my spyware programs. I have Spybot, Adaware, AVG, SuperAntifpyware, Spyware Blaster. None find anything. If I download something, it downloads at normal speed, but going to web sites, especially ones I use often, it can take 5 minutes to load a page. I've read about a browser accelerator called NetSonic, but I'm wondering if it would help at all. I've read that running a registry cleaner will solve all your problems but I am very cautious when it comes to registry cleaners, I'm afraid of them. What am I doing wrong? Can anyone offer any suggestions. The one web site I go to a lot and am finding it very slow to load, if it loads at all, is:

I purchased a new laptop with Windows Vista and a free trial of Norton before Christmas, I also purchased a Belkin Wireless G+ MIMO router. I have an existing desktop and an Ipod Touch which both work fine when connected wirelessly. On the laptop when I need to sign into a website, for example Skybet, ebay etc, I put in the login details and the page will not load up. If I try at the same time on the Ipod touch it will work straight away. I'm not sure whether this is a wireless network problem or a Norton problem or something else.I have tried changing my wireless channel and its made no difference. If I plug the ethernet cable into the laptop it works perfectly.Any advice would be appreciated.

Answer:Pages very slow to load in Chrome/Firefox

Spud, I can't tell you anything about the HJT log you posted but I will suggest you make sure you are running the most current browser versions.  The info for Firefox shown in the beginning of your log shows an out-of-date version.

Google Chrome, Version 45.0.2454.85 m

Hello, and sorry for the trouble. I really need help. I have a laptop running xp. a couple of weeks ago my computer all of a sudden started being very slow especially online and many pages wouldn't load. such as hotmail.com and others. I tried restoring my computer to the last possible time but it only lets the computer work fine for a couple of hours and then it would go back to not loading pages etc. I ran spybot and says I have wildtangent and virtumonde.dll if if i try fixing it with spybot it will really make it worse. Please help. I ran the dss scan and have both logs ready.

Answer:Infected With Virtumonde? Pages Won't Load. Slow Comp

Hi there!

Straight to the point:

Tablet specifications:
- Manta Tablet PowerTab 10" HD MID1001
- CPU - Cortex A-8 1.5GHz
- GPU - Mali-400
- 3D OPEN GL V2.0
- Ram 1GB
- Android ver. 4.0.4
- compile number - crane_axmid-eng 4.0.4 IMM76D 20120803 test-keys
- kernel 3.0.8+ [email protected] #52

Problem:
- slow page load (if any!) - tested on default browser, chrome, opera, opera mini, etc etc
- no reaction for stopping loading pages

Thoughts:
- not a router problem (802.11n WPA2/AES)
- other android devices working well on that hotspot
- Google Play working well on tablet, no lags, no interference (same other online soft - skype etc)
- tried system restore, default settings, changing router settings

Techspot is my last hope. Help me!

Answer:Slow browser failing to load pages on tablet

Download a terminal emulator, do some pings.

Check the advanced setting for the Wifi, there may be some weird DNS entries or something.

Hi there

Recently, my pc seems to be running a bit slower and pages are taking a few seconds longer to load as well. Sometimes websites seem to freeze for 10-15 seconds before loading fully or it sometimes crashes (and I get the pop-up box to tell me that it's not responding and I have to close it down.

I have just carried out the Panda scan and here is the txt file. I couldn't disinfect anything.

I'm hoping that it will be something straightforward which needs doing as I'm not very good when it comes to technical things like that.

Look forward to your reply. Thank you very much.

Alice

i'm having problems loading my webpages on my computer. I have dialup and know it's slow, but sometimes the pages don't load at all, sometimes they load in a text/list mode. I have tried avast antivirus, spybot s&d and superantispyware and can't seem to find a problem, any idea what the problem could be? I also use yahoo and msn and often when msn loads it says that the hosts files need to be fixed and there's a problem with the dns, but if i click the repair it fixes msn so it signs on.
I really am at a loss, and browsing the internet is getting harder every day, please any help would be appreciated. I have attached a hijackthis.log to this post if that would help at all

Answer:browser doesn't load pages or loads really slow

Here are a few things to check not related to viruses and malware:

* If it only happens occasionally on certain sties, it could be an issue with the website's traffic (how many people are trying to access it at one time). If the problem is at the website, delays or failures in web pages loading will happen even with a broadband connection.

* If things start out smoothly and get worse the longer you have been on line, your connection could be slowing over time due to poor line conditions. If a dial-up modem senses line noise, it will usually attempt to lower the connection speed so there is less chance of data loss.

Call your phone company and ask them to do a line check (usually free). This is especially true if you are noticing any buzzing, static or other issues when making a voice call on the same line.

If this doesn't solve the problem, consider one of the following:

* Replace the modem. On a desktop PC, internal modems are dirt cheap:

For a notebook, USB models such as http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16825164004 aren't that expensive either.

* Consider a switch to DSL or Cable broadband if available in your area. Many phone and cable companies offer a basic speed package (768KB/s; about 12x the speed of dail-up) for around $20/month. Since you won't have to pay a monthly fee for dial-up service anymore, the actual cost of upgrading may be ... Read more

Has anyone else experienced slow-to-load web pages being helped to load by left-clicking?

I have a handful of websites that I frequent which are always slow to load. I have noticed that if I left-click the mouse on the last web page the hour glass will show up and the loading takes place a little faster. I have no idea why left-clicking the mouse would help...or what left-clicking the mouse actually does that allows the web page to start loading. I find this rather strange.

Here is an example of a web page that is always slow to load and is aided to load quicker if I left-click somewhere on the last web page as I wait.

Any ideas?

My computer is lagging badly; mostly on the internet and especially with pages that have high graphics or are very 'busy'. I stopped using IE because it would lag so bad and freeze up. I started using Firefox, which worked great at first, but now it lags as well, but doesn't crash. I'd really appreciate someone looking over my log and helping me clean it up. Thanks!

I have the same issue that ShankMcGank had in this thread that is now closed.

http://forums.techguy.org/windows-7/980685-web-pages-suddenly-slow-load.html

In fact, this site is very slow on every page.

I get a message at the bottom of the page that says "awaiting HTTP:// then some ad site (doubleclick.net or google ads etc).

Any ideas?

This only just started happening about two weeks ago and I have run anti virus, malwarebytes, adaware etc and eveything is clean.

Thanks

I have been having wireless connectivity issues for a few days.  I updated drivers, reset the modem and router, did a virus scan, everything HP support suggested and it is still slow.  No one else in the house is having issues, and I have not moved my laptop to a different spot.  The only other thing I noticed is my microsoft wifi direct virtual adapter is not connected, but I don't know if it has anything to do with the issue I am having.  If that is the issue, I don't know how to connect it.

Hi all,

I recently been having some problems with my computer. The Network Connections Folder in XP is blank, and as a result it takes a while for webpages to load up whenever I use Internet Explorer. I did some research and realizes a spyware program called Apropos gives symptoms similar to mine, but it also affects the Device Manager. My Device Manager is actually fine - it's not blank.

I ran the Aproposfix that mostly everyone says works wonders, but I got an error message during the process saying that there was some "illegal instruction. - Ignore/Terminate?" No matter which option I tried, after rebooting from Safe Mode to Normal Mode, I still have a blank Network Connections folder.

Is there another spyware like Apropos that could be causing this? And if so, how to combat it? This is getting very frustrating for me.

Please reply,

Kwok

Answer:Network Connections blank, IE pages slow to load up

If you think it might be spyware,

Get HiJack This V1.99.1 http://thespykiller.co.uk/files/hijackthis_sfx.exe - double click the DL file and click UNZIP letting it extract to its default folder C:\Program FIles\HiJackThis, run it from there, DO NOT fix anything, post the log here.

Hopefully someone will check the log for you. (I'm not a HJT expert)
