Logitech to focus on design, starting with a brand new logo

Question: Logitech to focus on design, starting with a brand new logo

Logitech has decided that it's sick of their old, outdated brand, today launching a new look for the company that will supposedly place "design at the core" of its products, while building on its "hertiage as a technology company". ...

Preferred Solution: Logitech to focus on design, starting with a brand new logo

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Previously, I had been using an Anker wired gaming mouse as my "regular" mouse. The pointer began to randomly quiver and became very annoying. I brought out the old 510, also wired, remapped the buttons and everything was fine. Except...when I open a new tab, the pointer does not immediately focus to the new tab and requires an additional click. It's a minor thing but I've already taken out the Anker as another replacement.

Anyone know how to fix this?

Answer:Focus problem with Logitech 510 mouse

Went back to the Anker.

I have a logitech laser mouse - no model number, but came with Logitech comfort keyboard/mouse combo. The problem is the mouse is losing focus. Examples - 1) when I highlight a paragraph, it loses part of the highlight before I've completed. 2) When highlighting an area in photoshop, it makes the selection before I've finished defining it. 3) When dragging messages in Thunderbird, it 'lets go' as I'm dragging and drops the message in the wrong place.
It doesn't appear to be software as I've deleted the drivers and downloaded new ones, and the fact that a different mouse doesn't do this makes me certain it's a hardware issue. However, before it goes in the bin, are there any known issues with Logitech mice doing this?

Answer:Logitech mouse problem - loses focus when highlighting

Sounds very much like your mouse is dying.Cannot think of anything else to suggest as you seemed to have ruled out a software issue. I to have a Logitech mouse the MX518 best mouse I have ever had, beat the Ionix and CM Storm I have hands down.

Question: Logo Design

Please forgive me if this is the wrong place to post this but this is about as close to a topic as i can get.

I was wondering if any of you have had logo's designed for your site, and if you could recommend a graphics artist or a company. I only need a single image but realize that it can be expenisive. I dont really have alot of money to spend and was hoping to keep the cost under 30 dollars if possible and i know thats grasping for the kind of quality im after. Just to give you an idea, i would probably pay more if i liked the logo. So if anyone could throw out some ideas or designers they know of i would really appreciate it!

Thx.

Question: Logo Re-Design

I designed a logo a while back. Is fine for use on Business Cards, Letterheads e.t.c, but when you come to blow it up it loses quality.
If anyone can redesign it and make it so it can be blown up large, i.e very large , A2? without losing quality, then we could probably agree a fee? (Cheap as if poss? )
We need it for some signs we are having made!

Many Thanks

hello, are there any free to use logo design websites out there? i need a business logo, but have been quoted in excess of 100!!!!!i have tried the xara trial version logog design software and found it limited... any suggestions?? thank you

Answer:design logo software

A logo is all well and good but keep in mind that once it's done ou can be stuck with it. Some of the best logos in the world are extremely simple and subtle.I'd suggest that you think long and hard about what you might like. Many very successful businesses thrive with a simple text line naming their business. Adding a drop shadow to your business name with a nice background can work wonders. Also keep in mind that graphics should be very carefully prepared since a graphic logo should really be part of your overall branding. This means it has to feature on all of your business stationary - letterheads, cards, compliment slips and so on. Graphics printing is a whole new world and it can get quite complicated to get good results. The more detailed your graphic and depending on which colour cheme you choose you could end up by needing a program that can output a bit more than your bog standard bitmap or jpeg. You could do worse than start simple with just the business name, perhaps give it a drop shadow and border. Regarding software, any of the mainstream image editors will do the job. I like and use Ulead PhotoImpact, Jasc Paint Shop Pro, Macromedia Fireworks and Adobe PhotoShop in about that order. For serious print design work I lean very strongly towards Quark and Adobe InDesign, but they are overkill for most users. It isn't the software you use, it's normally how you use it and a good idea from the outset, properly implemented, works wonders. A bad idea from the outset usual... Read more

Hi,

could you recommend any graphic design software, specifically for logo design?

I don't have any preference about the platform - Mac, Linux or Windows would do.

Actually I don't have a Mac but I heard they are planning to bring down prices during this Xmas season, and if the best software for logo design runs on a Mac I might finally take a dive into the Mac world.

Ok guys heres the story, im coming up with a Logo for our graduation, I came up with the Idea "Milestone" and created the Interstate sign, having the number 98 in the middle which represents the number of students, and the slogan " Building the future on life's Highway! "

It might not be the greatest of all ideas, but 97 students find it GREAT! The only problem is, our administration full of *** nuns want to call us ARZE, and since they are french educated, they didnt even understand the word milestone and the ideas behind it !

Now ive been in a fight with them about this for a week, all the students have my back and I wont let them have it their way like always, therefore i need some Reviews by Pro's and Anyone actually, so i can turn them into a form with your names at the end of each review, so i can face them with " Here you go, I got you proffessional reviews, what more do you want ? Help! I am thinking of starting out in web design; however I am a complete novice. Most web design work requires either a high level of education (ie degree or equivalent) or lots of experience.Obviously I need to spend money on gaining knowledge through online/open university courses, however which ones should I choose? Also, after gaining basic knowledge, how do I build up a portfolio of work? Many thanks

Answer:Advice for starting out in web design

Hi, in my experience, you don't need a degree to find work as a web designer. I own my own web design/development business and I have never been to University. As a potential employer, I would much rather look at your ability as opposed to any qualification. That said, a qualification can show that you are committed to learning.Another problem I have with 'web designer' courses is that they are very general (you learn a little about lots of stuff but not enough of each) and by the time you are 'qualified' some of the stuff you have learnt is out of date. The internet is a fast changing environment with new technologies/techniques coming along all the time.In your position, I would buy a couple of good books. For starters, I would recommend 'Head First HTML and CSS' by O'Reilly Press, a brilliantly written book that makes learning the basics really easy.If you want to learn PHP, I would recommend anything by Larry Ullman, again great books.Subscribe to related magazines (Netmag is very good) and keep up with what's happening with the industry. As for creating a portfolio, either offer to do a site for a friend in business or just create fictional businesses and create sites for them i.e a dentist's site, a fashion house etc anything that comes to mind. Try and create sites that really show off what you can do.One final thought, a general knowledge of all related languages/technologies is good, as knowing how the backend of a site is built can help you when designing the front en... I'm using Asus VivoBook S400C with Windows 8.

After i start the laptop, It goes black after the ASUS logo.

I've tried use shift+F8 to go into recovery. (sometime the shift+F8 might not work, it went black after ASUS logo)

Using troubleshoot's system restore. After minutes of waiting, system restore completed successfully and so i restart. But it went black again.

I tried automatic repair, but nothing good came out.

Tried startup setting to enable safe mode. but unfortunately, it went black after I click the restart button.

Please help me, i'm desperate, been a week... :'(
I don't want to use refresh or reset option.

Thanks.

Answer:Black screen after brand's logo.

Is it Black but with a Mouse? Or just Black. It may be pending an Auto Repair, and you have to let that finish. Sometimes it takes a long time, it will stay in that black screen for 15 minutes in some cases. My Media system does this, particularly when the Drive has Errors, and until I can use the Install disk to run a Scandisk from Command Prompt, it never gets past that black screen.

The other Black screen with Mouse usually shows up after you see your Skydrive Login, instead of showing your Lockscreen, it goes black with a mouse. But even in that state, I was able to pull up Task Manager and run an In-Place install. Try a scandisk from either an Install DVD or a Hiren's Boot Disk, from MiniXP, see if you got Disk errors. Ive had numerous Errors with Windows 8, and it all comes back to the disk needing to be scanned.

HiI have a brand NEW Dell Inspiron 15R laptop which all of a sudden became stuck at the Dell logo when it tries to boot. I have tried numerous time to power on and off, but it doesn't budge past it.
I have run the diagnostics, "No problems have been found with this system so far". It asked me to run the remaining memory tests which I did.  Again, no problems were found.
I followed all the troubleshooting steps here http://support.dell.com/support/topics/global.aspx/support/kcs/document?docid=577306 to troubleshoot a computer that is not completing POST and it has made no difference. The power button light is on, the three buttons on the top right hand side flash in turn then switch off, the CD rom makes the usual start up noise, and 3 of the 4 lights at the bottom left hand flash then the one for the hard drive switches off, with only the power and wifi remaining on. When I switch it off, all lights go out.
Please advise of a solution asap as I am unable to use the new laptop at all. Thanks.

I just got brand new logitech Z313 speakers and they are AWESOME except when there's no sound playing through them .. then they are LOUD and ANNOYING because of all the white noise just spewing out of them. It's not bad like if some wires were crossed with feedback but it's loud enough to hear all the time as this constant background noise of hissing static and sometimes popping. My old speakers didn't do this at all. But they were very low quality speakers and they finally died out. So I got new speakers and hooked them up and now I have all this white noise. No wires are touching or too close to each other. I have no idea why this is happening. I have to UNPLUG the speakers to get the white noise to stop. And yes, I'm sure it's the correct audio jack the speakers are plugged into.. I'm not plugging them into the wrong port. I promise.

Is it something with my motherboard sound causing this? Or is it the new awesome speakers? My old pair were like $10 and these new speakers are like $40. BIG difference for me. My sound quality has GREATLY improved but now I have all this white noise to deal with. Any suggestions?

I feel like it has something to do with the motherboard sound card or some kind of wireless interference (I have a cordless phone and a router in the room but not next to the speakers or computer) ... but I am not very knowledgeable about computers so I am unsure. It's just a feeling.

Hi there

I'm gonna give the full back story help to help you guys diagnose as accurately as possible. I recently bought a new SSD, and used Acronis TrueImage 2014 to clone my older SSD to the new one. Everything was working fine for 2 weeks though I noticed no noticeable improvement from old SATA2 drive to new SATA3.

Yesterday I turned on my PC to have the slowest boot time I've had for years. On the Windows logo screen the HDD light stops flashing and it's like the PC idles on this screen for 5 mins. After a while it starts flashing again and the login screen pops up. After loggin in, I noticed my primary SSD was running fine, the terabyte HDD was fine but my old SSD that I was going to use for Steam games had now disappeared. I checked on Device Manager and Computer Management>Disk Management (drive H: is virtual from POWERISO) to find the drive was not being read. It also does not appear in BIOS It's in port2. I did the standard unplug/check cables and reconnect and still nothing. It was working/appearing fine the day before.

I googled why it may not be appearing and read that, "because the Windows installation is IDE it will need to be changed to IHCP". I read into this a little bit and found my SATA2 was running IDE mode and therefore the Windows install probably was too. I checked this using AS SSD Drive. And it was. I downloaded the Windows 'Fix it' tool. And now the drives are using amd_sata driver which apparently is I... Read more

I'm having some serious troubles with my main PC, my gaming PC, and it's really messing things up for me.

I was just parusing around like usual on my computer, it runs Windows 7, and I allowed it to download the usual updates and restart itself. When it shut down and began restarting, I notice that it loads up the logo, briefly flashes what I think is called a Bios Post page, and then goes to a page that is nothing but a blinking "__" sign. It does nothing here, won't continue, and I can't enter or do anything. It just endlessly blinks, before disappearing and the computer screen shows nothing but black.

Can I get some help here? I'd really appreciate it. .___.

Answer:Computer won't get past black screen after showing PC brand logo.

Have you tried to start in "Safe Mode" to see what happens? (Pressing F8 repeatedly immediately upon booting).

I have had a problem with the start up on Windows - going in to the black screen with the usual options. The local computer shop claimed a faulty hard drive and replaced one of the 2 installed. The system worked OK for them but when I got it home, I experienced the same problems as before. I finally tracked it down to the Logitech Wireless device- they were only using PS2 connections and it works with them.Contacted Logitech tech advice & tried all their options until they replaced my existing MX3000 with a MX3200.Still the same problem - although they claim nothing wrong with their hardware or software! On checking the System information / Components /Problem Devices - There was the following message:Logitech HID-Compliant Keyboard HID\VID_046D&PID_C517&MI_00\7&17F5BFD&0&0000 37 ( Error Code)I have removed the Logitech SetPoint & downloaded an up to date version & installed that one but still the same problem. Looking at the the device manager, there id the following message - currently against both the keyboard & the the mouse (earlier it had been just against one of them).Windows cannot initialize the device driver for this hardware. (Code 37)Your help in identifying the conflicts (IRQ's?) would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

I used to have issues with XP not wanting to start up only 50% of the time. When it wouldn't start up it would get stuck at the black screen with the XP logo and the blue progress bar going across. Eventually the progress bar would just freeze up and it would just get stuck there. I used to be able to turn it off and on again and it would start up normally so I never stressed about it. I did recently format and reinstall XP completely and it quit doing it for a while so I thought I resolved it....

However, recently, it started getting stuck at the XP logo everytime, no matter how many times I turned it off and on again. So today, I opened it up, unplugged and replugged in everything including the CPU, video card, fans, hard drives, and RAM (four 1GB sticks).

After plugging everything back in, now when I start it up, the fans and drives all start moving but I just get a completely black screen screen. No text, no bios info, no motherboard logo, no XP logo, nothing on the screen. During this, the internal speaker will beep for a moment every few seconds. I turned it back off and made sure everything was plugged in securely but it still does it.

So to narrow down what is causing the problem I took out three of the RAM sticks so there was only one stick in the first slot. Turned it back on and it showed the normal boot up info and once again got stuck at the XP logo like before. I am able to boot into safe mode when it is like this. I turned it off, added a ... Answer:Stuck at Windows XP logo when starting

You could have an issue with your Video Card driver But to be sure download Memetest and burn the image to a boot CD and run several passes of the tests with each RAM chip separately and then together. If it passes, get into Safe Mode and uninstall the Video driver, then download the latest one. If you can't, then remove the Video card and use the onboard VGA port. If that works then you know it's your video card.

Pop in a linux live-cd and see if that can detect your drive. If not you probably made some mistake building the pc. Cables, bios settings etc. How did you 'made sure it's not faulty'?

Having unpacked it I tried switching it on but it will not startup

When I put the charger in it gives out a very rapid clicking sound for a few seconds and then stops and also the battery sign flashes for about 5 seconds and then goes off.
When I press the start button nothing happens.

Any help appreciated. Was so lookiing forward to this

Hello

Remove the battery, connect it to AC adaptor and try to switch it ON.
I didn?t understand exactly what happened. But I hope you didn?t switch it on for the first time without AC adapter.
It is logic that notebook should be switched to power supply and after short time you can start it for the first time.

Ok, so my brother gave me a desktop that he was tired of looking at and I took it apart, every screw, and it is basically brand spanking new (looking) now. Only to get it working. He did something so it has a problem booting but I got it to boot but I cannot run anything. So, a few questions. I have two versions of Windows XP Pro on two different cds but for the life of me I cannot figure out how to start it all over again. I am staring at the main screen right now, but it says windows encountered a problem and wants to restart, then repeat.....so, I'm not sure that I have the XP boot disc burned correctly. Should it be one single .iso file, or the extracted files, or burned as an image? And after I finally have the correctly set boot disc, how to I go about formatting the hard drive that is currently on the desktop? I'm talking everything. I would do a restore but it won't let me get to it without shutting down, so I want to wipe the slate clear and use the boot disc to start brand spanking new. So, in summation, I need the proper knowledge of how to burn the boot disc, maybe websites could help, and I do have it set to boot from the cd rom but it either does not or the cd is not set right. So.....in essence: HELP.......for dummies!

Thanks to all. Also I'm quite tech savvy, I've never had to deal with this situation.....even there is no mouse to use, so it is a quagmire....but not impossible I am sure. If you all could generally put the instructions in easy to understand t... Read more

Borrow a mouse from any other computer, or find one at a Thrift store. As for your XP CD; If you have your XP CD copied to a HDD then use nLIte to slipstream any Service Packs, IE and any other drivers you may need and burn it to CD. Of course if you already have an ISO Image with a boot file on it, burn it with IMGBurn Boot off of the CD, and when you get to the partition information, choose to Delete the Partition, Create a new Partition, and Format it NTFS, and then install Windows.

why does my computer sometimes freeze at the acer logo when starting up? its a year-old acer aspire am3985 desktop computer with windows 8. it has a decent chance of freezing at the acer logo (the first window seen when turning this computer on) every time i turn the computer on each morning, about a 25% chance i'd say, in which case i have to hold the power button til it shuts off, wait a bit, and try again. is there for example a known issue between acer aspire and windows 8 fixed by an update or patch or something?

Stay in Safe mode. Uninstall Avast using Avast Uninstall Utility. Use Microsoft Security Essentials as your antivirus with windows inbuilt firewall, and free MBAM as the on demand scanner.

Do two more things. Daemon Tools, Alcohol 120% and Power Archiver Pro uses SCSI Pass Through Direct (SPTD), which is a well known BSOD causer. Uninstall Daemon Tools at first. Then download SPTD standalone installer from Disk-Tools.com, and execute the downloaded file as guided below :
Double click to open it.
Click this button only:

If it is grayed out, as in the picture, there is no more SPTD in your system, and you just close the window.
Free up the startup. Windows does not need any other program to auto start with it, but the auto start programs often conflicts and causes various problems including BSODs.

Boot into Windows and go to Search and type CMD, Right click the CMD results and Run As Administrator. In the Elevated Command Prompt type chkdsk /R and press enter. Now type a Y for Yes and restart the computer. Check Disk will start at next bootup and go through 5 stages and it may take a while.

Hi,

I recently got problems with my A300D .

During normal use the screen behaved strange, became white and normal a few times untill it stopped working. When I restarted the green power light comes on, the DVD is accessed and I can detect two faint beeps. Thats all. No logo, no bios to enter , nothing.

I have tried removing the batttery , remove power and press the power button for minutes and attemtpetd sto start with and without battery to no gain.

The computer is receiving power with correct voltage (19.4 V measured) but does not start.
Could it be the CMOS battery that needs to be repalced ?
Or bad memory ?

What does the two single beeps indicate ?
Faulty motherbooard ?

Any tips or ideas are appreciated.

Thanks,

Answer:Satellite A300D-151 not starting - No logo, no bios

Dear ksm;

*as you told your laptop is not powering on..**
**i think you should try this troubleshoot..**
**firstly remove the battery and adapter both of the laptop then hold the power key up to 30 sec**
**then release the power key and just connect your adapter of the laptop and turn on the laptop**
**and check is working or not..**
**if your problem is not rectified then you need to visit your nearest service station might be it is hardware issue.

**Thanks**

Hi. I recently purchased a new PC 3 days ago. It ran smooth the first day. Since, it has started slow, taking 3-5 minutes to get to the log in window and then a few to start up windows. Also, when opening the browser is lagging, hanging. the spinning circle at the top goes on for about 2-3 minutes before responding and opening the page. This happens with any page, especially after i first start up the pc. After a while it starts to run better, but then some pages it just takes forever to load. Some of the games (apps) that came with the computer froze completely, i had to 'end the process' and the screen never came back, i ended up restarting windows. Maybe you have to have a certain software added on to run these apps. When i uninstalled a program i didn't want, it had me restart the computer but wouldn't come back after i logged back on to windows. Almost like it froze. I had to hit the Task Manager, and then it finally brought up my desktop. (hope this all makes sense).

Also i notice there is hum every once in a while, you can barely here it.  only for a few seconds, it comes and goes. Also getting a smell, and electronic smell.. not sure if it's burnt wiring.

So, think its a lemon or just need to tweak it or take it back?  Someone else in another site told me to return it.

Sorry if this is in the wrong place.

Thank You so much in advance!

Hi Angel,

I would not hesitate to bring it back to the place of purchase. That smell might be new components being used but since it has slowed down to a crawl it might mean something is bad inside.

Hey, I am sorry if I posted in the wrong section, I didn't know where to post.

I just bought a new computer in April and I've been gaming on it about 20 hours a week since. Just recently I noticed a subtle high pitched hum ONLY WHEN I'M IN GAME. I can go to the main menu, and it will stop. I have well enough the minimum requirements to play the games I do, so it's not like I'm trying to overload my PC. Could this be a hard drive issue?

Intel QC i7-3770
16gb DDR3 SDRAM
Unfortunately I just found out I have a Seagate Barracuda 2TB SATA 6.0Gbs 64MB Cache 7200 RPM 3.5 Inch Desktop Hard Drive... which may be the problem?
nVidia GeForce GTX650 2Gb
Don't know PSU yet, sorry.

Does this sound familiar to anyone? I have a 3 year warranty so whatever the problem is, I should be able to get fixed. I wanted to see if anyone might have an idea of what it could be. It's hard to tell where the noise is coming from. I'm guessing it's either the PSU or H/D.

Answer:Brand New PC Starting To Make Noise

It could just simlpy be your fans speeding up? When I game, as the computer gets hotter the fans in my PC speed up. When in the menu, it cools down so the fans slow down Its just a guess though...

Hi, I just opened my brand new laptop for the first time, had a hard time to start: after several attempts to start it, the first message I got is diagnosing your PC, then it shows  buttons: restart or other options... and goes back to diagnosing your PC. Does this happen to all your new products?

Starting a few days ago, my computer suddenly started to take forever to start up and shut down. It gets stuck on the HP logo and the little spinny icon. I counted 70 spins before it finally loaded into Windows. Once it gets to Windows, it loads really fast. It also takes a few minutes (instead of less than a minute, before) for the computer to shut down once I press "Shut Down". The screen and everything is off, but the computer continues to stay on for a couple more minutes. The problem started about a week ago and since then, I've done a reset, but the problem remains. It doesn't seem to be affecting anything when I'm using the computer, but it's annoying to have to press the On button and walk away for a while before it loads up. Any ideas on what the problem could be? Thank!

Answer:Blue screen- windows starting logo , then restart

To see the BSOD, rapidly tap the F8 key before the Windows Splash Screen shows up.
Then select "Disable automatic restart on system failure" from the list (it's towards the bottom).
The next time a BSOD shows, it'll stop there.

My HP pavilion HPE (beats audio) $900 computer, for the second time in less than a month, froze up, upon booting up. Just stays on windows logo. so had to do a hard shut down, then re start. (and all was okay)  any suggestions. This computer has been returned 4 times in the past year, for problems, I/e bad fan, defective hard drive, won't connect to wifi, etc. what a piece of junk !!

Answer:computer will not boot up, stays on starting windows logo

So obviously restarts aren't helping you..
One or two of your Windows Files might be broken and fixing them is called doing a Startup Repair. When a computer boots incorrectly the best first step to do is a Last Kown Good Configuration.

I received a brand new Dell 2-in-1 laptop for Christmas and I have tried calling customer support but each time, I get someone with a really thick accent and it's just too difficult to work with. Here is the problem, as soon as I turn on the laptop, I get a loud noise and there are vertical colored bars and a question asking if I see any colored bars. I click yes and it takes me to the ePSA page where it tests everything after 10-15mins and it tells me everything is fine. Laptop loads up fine but I have no volume, it's muted. I cannot change the volume and, also, I cannot change the screen brightness. I turn off the laptop and then when I turn it on again, the exact same thing repeats itself with the colored bars, to the ePSA screen, and then it loads up fine but without volume nor the ability to adjust screen brightness....any clues?

I just bought a Lenovo G550 Laptop from the Microsoft Store. Brand New. I've had it for less than a full day. I started it up fine the first two times. I then started to install my programs (iTunes, MS Office, etc.). I ran a Windows Update. Restarted. And now it freezes at the "Starting Windows" screen. Right after the little balls form the Microsoft Logo. I'll even get the sound, although it's about a minute late. I've restarted it in Safe Mode, and it's fine there. I've tried using restore points, and it keeps telling me that the restore points have been deleted. I've tried disabling both the WLAN and the USB through the BIOS. I've tried disabling all startup programs through MSCONFIG. Still nothing. Does anyone have a suggestion? I'd format it and reinstall Windows, but it didn't come with a disk, and I didn't have a chance to create a Backup. Please Help!!

I would take it back stores have to take a product if you brought it within 7 days of the purchasing, if you can?t do that there should be a CDKey on the bottom of your laptop if you can get a copy of windows 7 (with ever version you have e.g. Home, Pro, Ultimate) reinstall windows.

Second monitor is plugged into the VGA port on the HP port replicator.

After using the PC for a bit every day, I try to bring up a program that's minimized to the taskbar, but it maximizes beneath the current program running!

Or, I could have IE or Chrome or Outlook open, and I click to open Windows Explorer, and it opens BEHIND ID/Chrome.
I've tried the newest video driver, deleting the video driver and letting it install what it wants, but the problem persists.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hello, Here's the full story,
On Tuesday 9 April i was running Toolwiz Timefreeze (A program that freeze your computer and doesn't save anything while its running its more like a portable DeepFreeze) So while i was running it a windows update came up, so i said it won't be saved, but when i rebooted my computer to discard changes, The computer started So Sloooooow, but i didn't care much, i said its just some temporary problem, and then another updates appeared so i installed it and rebooted and Puff'' I can't go into windows,, A BSOD appears after the ''Starting windows'' Logo and after the mouse cursor appears
this is the BSOD : http://sdrv.ms/YNIAr2
this is the memory dump file it creates : http://sdrv.ms/YOkaO1 (I could't find minidump, I'm sorry, I compressed the Full dump to 95Mo After it was 300Mo)
The repairing tool Doesn't do a thing, And i can't even get to safe mode, i get stuck at aswrvrt.sys, and then the BSOD appears again, here is a screenshot : http://sdrv.ms/YOkzQI
I had two restore points, but both of them were giving me an error, idk why, and after i runned ''Chkdsk -f '', the restore points disappeared

Hi BassGaz

The F4 BSOD is a hardware issue mainly hard drive .

The aswRvrt.sys has to do with your Avast Antivirus .

Let's see if we could uninstall Avast in Safe Mode with Command Prompt . While the PC is booting up tap on the F8 key . Once you get to the Advanced Boot Options menu screen choose Safe Mode with Command Prompt and press [ENTER] . Log in once the command prompt window comes up input these commands

Say I am playing a game, that game is a full screen game being displayed on one monitor, and I have itunes open in the other monitor. The song changes, and I dont like it, I can free my mouse, and move it to the other monitor, but if I click anything, Windows sees that as me wanting to focus the desktop, so it minimises the game. Is there a way to stop this?

Thanks

Answer:Allow 1 screen to focus on desktop, and other to focus on game?

Hello Tomha,

In answer to your question: No, not that I am aware of. However, with a lot of programs, there are ways to make them windowed, and you can maximize the window so that it is like full screen with a windows border. Most likely it will pause any game you are playing if you click out of its window, but you can always unpause it.

You can make "maximized the default. Sometimes it is just as simple as right-clicking the application, clicking properties, under "run", click the pull down menu and select "Maximized". Sometimes with games and certain other applications, it isn't this simple. Sometimes code has to be entered into the game files, etc.

Hello,

Our trusty ol laptop, Sony Vaio VPCCW13FD, refuses to load windows 7 home premium 64bit (original install since purchase). I get stuck right after the 'starting windows' logo at a black screen with a moveable cursor. Strange thing is that I can plug the hdmi output to the TV and I can move the cursor around on the tv as well and the display off/on physical button also functions normally, all the same in safe mode with/without networking and normal.

This happened when I tried to optional update the Nvidia video card through windows update (by itself). Mid-install it failed and displayed a message something like 'reverting to previous graphics controller' and then reboot now/later showed up and it has not boot up since.

I think it's just stuck mid-boot at the graphics driver part but I don't know how to fix it without doing a clean install, which is last resort. System restore seems to have lost all its restore points even though i remember seeing 'creating restore point' in the beginning of the update, and the recovery partition will only do a clean install - no repair options there either.

I then burned the win7HP x64 iso and tried to do a repair options from disk with no results. Thinking back to the XP days, I proceeded to try a non-destructive install on top of existing OS from the disk, but it then says that the upgrade can only be started from within a functional windows, and the only option is custom install which wipes... MS announce their new project (aka Neon Project) which includes new methodology, ideas and UI design.
As we know that Android Material Design is also used for web designing known as Materialize CSS(Css framework).
Will MS upcoming Fluent Design Language comes for Web Designers (as framework)?
Will it beat Android Material Design? Let's see...

Answer:Will Microsoft's upcoming FLUENT DESIGN Language defeat Android's MATERIAL DESIGN? Will MS release i

Material Design has had a little time to mature. With that time and maturation, we have component libraries for material-based components, more animations and nuances, and fairly widespread availability/usage.
To compete, the Fluent Design Language would need similar third party support in the way of component libraries and easy availability for web app developers. This really hinges on where the Windows Store goes. The more people use Windows Store apps, the more they see the Fluent UI in action. The more they see the Fluent UI in action, the more recognizable and popular it will become.
Personally, i don't think this iteration of the new UI language will compete with Material. I think it will be used by people developing specifically for the Windows UWP platform, but by the time the Windows UWP platform itself is competing, this UI will also have evolved.

Been doing some reading and ther are other people seeming to have something similar.  The Thinkcentre screen waits a long time to go away and I have made sure there are no USBs in the boot options and I just installed the latest BIOS ending in 60.  Also there is a long wait after the MS XP scrolling green bar goes away.  I hear the scanner recycle and there is still a long wait of maybe a minute or two before it continues.  Watching the disc light on the CPU, it flashes maybe 1 each second througout that whole time until finally windows continues.  I have not unplugged my external USB external discs yet.Any thoughts?ThanksCarver Smith

Well this is sad to hear that you are having similar problems.  I had hoped it was simply a power issue for mine. My system also seems to start extremely slow very similar to what you describe.  This seemed to happen after I installed a new PCIe graphics card.  I thought it might be that I am just pushing the power source to its limit and had hopes that it would go away when I upgraded.

I have a Sony VAIO laptop that seems to have gotten some form of malware or virus on it.  The machine specs are:
Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit, Intel i5, 6 GB RAM.

The problem I am seeing is when I boot up the laptop and it gets to the starting windows screen with the blurred windows logo.  Then the screen goes black.  There is still hard drive activity and I hear the Windows start up chime but the screen remains black. I've let it run for up to 20 minutes but even though it shows hard drive activity the screen stays black.  There are no error messages.

I can boot into safe mode and safe mode with networking, which I did and looked for unusual programs.  I found ScorpionSaver Services and found a removal tutorial on your site via a Google search.  I tried the steps in safe mode and things seemed to work but even though Malwarebytes found a lot of stuff (which I removed) I still could not boot into windows and ScorpionSaver Services is still there.

I don't know if this is related or if it is a different issue but I will mention it here just in case it is helpful.  It appears that there is a browser hijack going on too because even in safe mode with networking I cannot navigate away from search.conduit.com.

Hello
Last night I turned off my computer normally. The only thing different was that it installed some updates before turning off. This morning when I turned it on, I noticed that it got stuck on the "Starting Windows" logo screen. I turned it off (forcing it) and turned it on again and asked me if I wanted to start normally or repair. When I clicked repair it got stuck on the loading bar thing. At first, the f8 button wouldn't work but after a few tries it did and I can't get in safe mode either, it gets stuck.

I gave up and since the computer is pretty much new so I don't have much installed on it, I decided to just reformat it but even in the disk it gets stuck. I downloaded a repair disc and it is stuck in the loading bar with the Microsoft Corportation below.

EDIT: So I noticed when opening it up that the mobo has a red light(located in the front panel header thing)... next to it, it says LED1 R474... I'm not completely sure what it means but with my luck...it probably died on me. (Should i post this in the mobo's section?)

It was probably the updates so if I could somehow get it to unistall last night's updates (and maybe preventing it from updating again since I'm freaked out) it will get fixed maybe? The question is how :/

Hi all,

So I have a dell optiplex 755 and have windows 7 n (the euro one w/o media player) installed and for the past 2 months the following situations have been recurring:

Start windows and boots successful
-after leaving my computer on for an extended period of time and then waking it up from "sleep" it would abruptly shutdown and then restart.

After a couple times of this happening it would then repeat the same process however it would randomly go to startup repair, run start up repair which wouldn't find any solutions and then turn off the computer. I would then sometimes turn on my computer and it would run fine and I would be able to get past the starting windows screen.
Recently I have had the above process repeat several times with being able to get passed the windows starting screen only once in about 20 tries.

I called dell and the operator mentioned the "fbi virus" right away but then wanted me to pay to have it fixed by remote access however I am short on cash so that was out of the question.....

Sorry for the length of the description, if you are confused at all by the wording please don't hesitate to ask me for further description.

Any help is appreciated!

Answer:Getting stuck at starting windows screen, windows logo absent

Personally, I doubt that your issue is being caused by the FBI virus because you are not getting the associated FBI warning screens; yes? Wow... I wonder how Dell was able to come to that conclusion so quickly. Anyway, have you tried running the Dell diagnostics and/or does your Dell diagnostic lamps indicate what the cause of the failure might be when your rig hangs on boot?

Yesterday night my laptop installed an update and I remember it prompting me to restart my computer. Instead I chose the option to postpone the update. I erred when I forgot to restart my computer before going to sleep and instead had put it into sleep mode. Upon resuming windows, my screen was black and there was an error (which I failed to note but it was something about "logging in").

I tried force-powering off my laptop and upon reaching the "Windows Starting", I notice that the logo freezes. The computer appears unresponsive but after a couple of minutes, I am taken to my account log-in screen.

I read somewhere that this might be the result of a corrupt C file. Will a system restore fix the problem? (On the system restore there is a timestamp for "Windows Update" of type "Critical" that was installed around the time I postponed the restart). Is there a way I can scan my computer for corrupted files?

Answer:Freezes at "Windows Starting" Logo, then resumes normally?

I just was given an HP Pavillion Elite m9040n with a Q6600 CPU, ge force graphics card and two 500GB HDD's. When I start it up it seems to be ok the HP blue screen comes on goes to OS boot and displays "starting Windows" on the screen along with the windows logo. and then it goes to black with just the cursor on the screen. (Vista) So I know BIOS is ok, graphics are ok windows starting.  I went into F11 system HP recovery and it seems to think all is well......Very confused any Ideas? Thanks Glenn...

Answer:Windows 7 hangs on starting windows logo screen

Your specs say build 7100, that is a little outdated. Where did you get your current version & when did you install it ?

Saw this is 4/22 post and here it is 5/7, but if your still looking for assistance. What is make/model of computer, and if its a custom build all specs to assist you with this? Also if its an off the shelf computer and you added a video card, what video card are you running?

Hi there! I've recently been given a Logitech F710 gaming controller for my computer (a Samsung 305E on Windows 7 - I'm not 100% computer literate so let me know if you need any other specs). Most games work fine - I played Batman: Arkham Origins without any problems. However, many older games, such as Assassin's Creed and Mass Effect, I learned, require me to create a profile using the Logitech Gaming Software.

I downloaded this software from the official site. However, the Logitech Gaming Software does not recognize the controller, even when the Connection Utility also provided on the Logitech website does.

I am not really sure what to do. I have removed and re-downloaded Logitech Gaming Software, but I still cannot do anything with it. I would really appreciate any help, thank you very much.

I originally posted this problem (One Logitech Setpoint for two different Logitech mice? - Windows 10 Forums), but as I feel there's a new twist, it would be best to start a new thread.

Both my mice (M570 and M720) have the Logitech unifying mark on them, and there is a Logitech unifying dongle in place that was first being used by M570 with Setpoint. However, I found that Setpoint wouldn't recognize my new mouse (M720.) I then found Logitech's Options program (Logitech Options - Logitech Support) that offered more than Setpoint. DL'd Options, but it initially only recognized M720 and not M570. Using Options "add device," I kept getting "Try again" and haven't been able to get M570 to function on Options. No matter what I do, when Options is open, it only shows M720. Although M570 does function as setup on setpoint, I can't get to use setups for individual programs using Options??? All firmware is uptaded.

I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this, but I can't think of anywhere else.

This is going to be long, but hopefully all the information will help. Last week, I attempted to recover my Western Digital My Book Essential 1 TB (this is the second time recovering it, but I'll figure that out once I deal with this problem) using Stella Phoenix Data Recovery. I formatted the My Book, no problem, and let the Recovery wizard run. It was running for a good 3 or 4 days up until now. Since it was taking to long, I just let it run and check on it when I get home.

Today, I come home, and I see the My Book idling, so I know my computer blue screened, or it restarted somehow. I turn the monitor back on, and I'm greeted with the American Megatrends screen. It lists all my hardware, and everything seems fine. It says to press Del to resume, so I do, and that gets me to the BIOS page. I hit Exit to save changes, and expect Windows to start, but nope: the computer restarted.

Bewildered, I went through the same American Megatrends page and the BIOS page three times with the same result. I tried changing my boot drive to my SSD, then my secondary hard drive (also had Windows 7 installed), then my DVD drive. Nothing worked. I called a friend and helped trouble shoot, asked me to reset my BIOS (couldn't find that setting), asked me to remove the SSD to see if that was the problem, and it still didn't work. Then, I noticed a message at the bottom of the American Meg... Read more

Answer:Windows 7 won't start, hangs on "Starting Windows" screen, no logo

Update: Last night, I think the Startup Repair option finally worked but I wasn't watching the whole time. It asked me to recover so I said yes. When I returned 15 minutes later, it was at the login screen so I punched in my password and got to the desktop. However, Windows said it needed to restart for some changes to take place. I hit okay, and when it restarted, it hung on the "Starting Windows" with no logo again. I will try again today, but does anyone have any suggestions?

So recently Windows decided to crap on my day by failing to start up in pretty much every way possible. I've tried about a thousand different fixes, most concerning a windows 7 repair disk I made when I first got the pc, each one either outright failing or uncovering a new problem. I tried running startup repair, chkdsk, system restore, and I've looked at numerous threads for advice (This thread being the most recent). So at this point, I'm running off of ubuntu and out of ideas. My pc didn't come with a windows installation disc and I don't have a disc big enough to burn a new install, but I do have the serial. Any suggestions?

It might also be worth noting that when I tried using system restore, the two most recent restore points were made by windows update (they both gave the description "critical update"). I've been approaching this with the assumption that an update has been causing the problem, for what it's worth. I've noticed quite a few people complaining about the same problem after certain updates, but who knows. If anyone has any ideas that don't involve formatting my HDD, please indulge me.

EDIT: In Linux, I get the following error message when I attempt to mount the internal drive partition containing the operating system:

Answer:Windows 7 64-bit boot problems (hangs on logo, crashes on logo, startup repair does nothing)

Well you can get the media directly from Microsoft.

How to replace Microsoft software or hardware, order service packs, and replace product manuals

But know that all these methods will result in you losing your current data and taking the system back to a brand new install of Windows. I am not sure what you are looking to do here. Fix your install or just get Windows back on. If you are not afraid to lose your stuff, or since you are in Ubuntu already back it up so you can put it back on a fresh install, then do a factory reset on the system.

But it comes down to what you want to do. Since you have media and cant boot the only thing I can suggest is to try a Restore Point. One should have been created at the time the updates were installed and should get your system operational again.

I have a relatively good PC but I do not think it is a hardware problem. So when I turn on my computer the HP logo shows up in normal timing (so is this not a BIOS problem), it sits on the HP logo for about 3-5 minutes, screen goes black for about 15 minutes, HP logo comes back for about 2 minutes then I get an orange windows 10 colour theme saying "Please wait" and the lock screen comes up ready to log in, after this everything is normal, basically its very slowing getting to the lock screen.

A few specifics i've noticed, my mouse has LEDs this turns on and off about 4 times around the second HP logo appearance. The lock screen is usually synced to my laptops lock screen, and it changes reguraly however it is not anymore and does not change either, its a picture of a Medevil Iron Helmet (which is quite spooky, I havent bothered to change it or see if this is a picture from Microsoft).

Yesterday I was also about to do a safe-mode boot but the computer turned off, I did however leave my computer untouched for at least 5 minutes but it wasn't a shutting down screen it just turned off. I also doubt it is to do with cooling as I can still play games without any problems.

UPDATE: In my start-up processes there is a file name called Program, no publisher, start-up impact isn't measured but it is enabled, when I right click I can only Disable it or search online. How can I find its file location so I can remove it?

Answer:Slow boot up (High-end PC): HP logo shows, black screen, HP logo again

autoruns is a tool within systinternals. Click on Logon tab.

Autoruns for Windows

Rather than delete can I suggest a rename.

Further if you think this "malware" I would be scanning with tools and letting them address. MalwareBytes is one recommendation. You can look in the AntiVirus section for others.

I would also run a chkdsk on the drive with no repair parameters to see if it notes anything. Finally as a test I would disable Fast Startup.

In preparation for the Windows 10 upgrade, I wiped my SSD and did a clean reinstall of Windows 8 before using the Windows 10 upgrade. However, after installing Windows 8, my boot logo is no longer the blue Windows logo but the Asus logo. I'm assuming this resulted from some driver update that Windows Update forced on me when I reinstalled Windows 8, but I'm not positive, so it could be something else entirely. I should point out that before I reinstalled, I used Windows 8/8.1 for two years and never had this problem. My hardware has not changed. Even though my motherboard and monitor are made by Asus, this problem never occurred until now. I tried to do another clean install, but the boot logo never reverted to the Windows logo. I'm now on Windows 10, and the boot logo is still the Asus logo. How can I change the boot logo back to the Windows logo?

I've uploaded a picture of the boot screen below, so you can see what's going on. As you can see, above the white dots that keep moving in circles, the Asus logo has replaced the Windows logo.

Answer:Asus Logo Replaced Windows Boot Logo

Most likely from you re-installing the factory image. I think that it is kind of cool.

I'm thinking of taking advantage of the T410 sales and get a 128MB SSD as part of the configuration. 1) What's the brand of 128MB SSD used in the current T410 builds? (searching found Samsung SSDs are commonly used in the T410 builds -- that still true)? 2) Do the latest SSDs being used support TRIM? 3) With the current sales, you can get a i7-620m with a 128MB SSD for only $100 more than a i5-560m with a 250GB spindle drive. Seems that the i7 and SSD is the obvious choice. Will battery life be the same with the i7 configuration compared to the i5? I know both are dual-cores that run at basically the same clock speeds, and the i7 has more cache.

Answer:Brand New T410 - Current 128MB SSD Brand and TRIM Support? Also i7-620m vs i5-560m?

1.) The brand of 128GB SSD in the current T410 builds is either that of Samsung, Toshiba, or Intel. All of these brands use different controllers (AFAIK). I believe it's also more 'luck-of-the-draw' than anything when you get the T410: an interesting choice since all 3 makes of drive have different speeds due to the different controllers (and they aren't the fastest controllers on the market by any stretch though I believe that all 3 offer similar performance).2.) Yes, they should (as these controllers do).3.) Battery life will be exactly the same. The only thing about the i5 vs. the i7 is that the i7 has a bigger turbo boost than the i5 (which doesn't really kick in during normal use)- all other clocks are the same (and the CPU's both kick off at maximum 35 watts of heat- they use the same amount of power). From what I've heard, though, the new T420 (which should be available sometime this month) has better battery life and supports faster SSDs should you decide to add one later if you go that route.

Which would you get? I found a place locally selling brand new MX700s (wirless) for get it, yes $49! AB only sorry. I have a post on the hot deals about it. Now if I can get lucky again and talk with that guy at staples who once did a PM with me from this place, and get him to do it again, I would walk out with the MX700 for get this, only $30!

Which would you get, that or the v500 (which is still very pricey with the $10 off at staples right now), still $69. I dont play games. But guess it all comes down to, whether I want the touch sensor on the v500 vs the charger on the mx700. I heard the batteries last 4 months on the logitechs anyways. I heard the MX700 can go 4 days without charging, but also heard stuff on here RFD about the mouse suddenly dying out of nowhere after 6 months use. But I also hate wheels because they get so freaking loose and loud in 2 months. But perhaps not on logitech mice, as this will be my first.

I have a logo that I want to give to my embroiderer to put on a shirt.
She does not know how to convert and requires me to provide the logo to her in the DST or EMB format.
Does anyone here know how to do that?

I have attached 2 JPGs.
The 1st is the logo to be placed on the shirt.
The 2nd is a closeup of the area on the shirt where is the logo should be stitched. I think the logo should not be wider than 3-1/2 inches.

I would like to see the outline of the car to be assigned a separate thread number, so that the outline can be white thread on a dark fabric, while the other emblems can still retain their black outline.
Im not sure if that means that 2 spools of black thread has to be installed on the sewing machine, when sewing onto lighter colored fabric.

So the way I see it their should be up to 5 thread colors.
1- Car Outline. this can be either BLACK or WHITE.
2- Bowtie - GOLD
3- SS - GRAY
4- R - RED
5- Black Outline for the bowtie, SS, and R.

Hopefully this makes sense to somebody.
Thank you in advance.

Hi everyone,
I've just recently upgraded from 3G to 4G / LTE on Family Mobile from Walmart. They use the T-Mobile network. My question is; why is my phone still showing the 3G logo? I've powered up and down a few times with no luck. The speeds I'm obtaining are much faster than the pervious setup using speedtest app. I was previously getting 1.5 mps up or down now I'm getting 8 to 12 mps so I know its changed but the logo on my phone has not. Any suggestions?

Answer:Why is my phone showing a 3G logo and not a 4G logo on my Nokia 735?

Sounds like it might be geographical, area might not have 4G coverage (which doesn't sound like a first world problem ;)) . Have you observed this everywhere you go or just a particular area?

I just unpacked my custom build and got it turned on.. went to try and get the internet working, and for the life of me.. i can't figure it out.
I don't even have a little wireless bar down in the right hand corner. when i try to connect to a network in network and sharing center, it wants me to plug in an ethernet cable. But i want wireless.. Also in the side panel of Network and sharing center, i don't even have the option for wireless.. i have Change adapter settings, and Change advanced sharing settings.

I try to set up a new connection or network and Connect to the internet, the only way it asks me to connect is by broadband(PPPoE). If i try set up a new network it asks me to choose the wireless router or access point i want to configure, might take up to 90 seconds for networks to appear.. but nothing pops up.
Anyone have any ideas?

Answer:Brand new computer, Brand new windows 7.. no wireless?

In Device Manager, Network Adapters, is your wireless shown?

If yes, is the driver installed? If no, is it enabled in BIOS?

hello, I have a new thinkpad x1,**not older than 3 months, in full 3 yrs on-site warranty**and it has already a dead pixel (black), right in a well visible area! not at the corners or borders...I am so sad now to use it, because all I can see when I work on it is that pixel... I can't avoid looking at it !how can lenovo deny to change the screen on a laptop so new and so expencive and which doesn't even have 3 months?? I know that the rule says not less than 3 pixels but... what should I do? This is not normal! Now I will have to keep it like this for its entire life? Is there really anything a customer can do?This is not fair ... All I've had were thinkpads but after this I really don't know if will be again my future choice. PS. Sorry, I posted this in the Tablet X section, can someone move it to the ThinkPad NON Tablet section? Thanks.

Answer:brand new ThinkPad and brand new dead pixel :(

Sorry, but 3 dead pixels are ok.The only thing you can do, is try to activate the that pixel via some apps. The apps show a lot of different colors, and around 40% (I think) of the dead pixels can be reactivatet.I don't think you will find any brand, who changes a screen because of 1 pixel. If you bougt it via internet, you can send it back
