Question: I think I still have a virus and its getting worst

Hi I posted about 3 weeks agoMy linkAnd I followed the advice I got but that did not work MBRfix when I found it on the site only ran for a second and shutdown and I can not run anything more because of .dll errors. But I think the virus is getting worst because I now get "can not open a webpage" errors on most anti-virus sites and I had the error's for my first 3 recoverys on the Windows update page but they stopped now on my 4th recovery now I get sent here .Any help would be fine I have not been able to check my e-mail in 2 months because I am worried my system might not be secure.Thank You.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: I think I still have a virus and its getting worst

Hello, thre is somethng wrong with your link it goes to a search page. Please download MiniToolBox, save it to your desktop and run it. Checkmark the following checkboxes: Flush DNS Report IE Proxy Settings Reset IE Proxy Settings Report FF Proxy Settings Reset FF Proxy Settings List content of Hosts List IP configuration List Winsock Entries List last 10 Event Viewer log List Installed Programs List Users, Partitions and Memory size. List Minidump FilesClick Go and post the result (Result.txt). A copy of Result.txt will be saved in the same directory the tool is run. Note: When using "Reset FF Proxy Settings" option Firefox should be closed.Next run MBAM (MalwareBytes):Please download Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and save it to your desktop.Download Link 1Download Link 2MBAM may "make changes to your registry" as part of its disinfection routine. If using other security programs that detect registry changes (ie Spybot's Teatimer), they may interfere or alert you. Temporarily disable such programs or permit them to allow the changes.Make sure you are connected to the Internet.Double-click on mbam-setup.exe to install the application.
For instructions with screenshots, please refer to the How to use Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware Guide. When the installation begins, follow the prompts and do not make any changes to default settings. When installation has finished, make sure you leave both of these checked:Update Malwarebytes' Anti-MalwareLaunch Malwarebytes' Anti-MalwareThen click Finish.MBAM will automatically start and you will be asked to update the program before performing a scan.If an update is found, the program will automatically update itself. Press the OK button to close that box and continue. If you encounter any problems while downloading the definition updates, manually download them from here and just double-click on mbam-rules.exe to install. On the Scanner tab:Make sure the "Perform Quick Scan" option is selected. Then click on the Scan button. If asked to select the drives to scan, leave all the drives selected and click on the Start Scan button. The scan will begin and "Scan in progress" will show at the top. It may take some time to complete so please be patient. When the scan is finished, a message box will say "The scan completed successfully. Click 'Show Results' to display all objects found".Click OK to close the message box and continue with the removal process.Back at the main Scanner screen:Click on the Show Results button to see a list of any malware that was found.Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected. When removal is completed, a log report will open in Notepad. The log is automatically saved and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.Copy and paste the contents of that report in your next reply. Be sure to post the complete log to include the top portion which shows MBAM's database version and your operating system.Exit MBAM when done.Note: If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove, you will be asked to reboot your computer so MBAM can proceed with the disinfection process. If asked to restart the computer, please do so immediately. Failure to reboot normally (not into safe mode) will prevent MBAM from removing all the malware.Troubleshoot Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware Please download the TDSS Rootkit Removing Tool (TDSSKiller.exe) and save it to your Desktop. <-Important!!!Be sure to download TDSSKiller.exe (2.6.11.0) from Kaspersky's website and not TDSSKiller.zip which appears to be an older version 2.3.2.2 of the tool.Double-click on TDSSKiller.exe to run the tool for known TDSS variants.
Vista/Windows 7 users right-click and select Run As Administrator. If TDSSKiller does not run, try renaming it. To do this, right-click on TDSSKiller.exe, select Rename and give it a random name with the .com file extension (i.e. 123abc.com). If you do not see the file extension, please refer to How to change the file extension.Click the Start Scan button.Do not use the computer during the scanIf the scan completes with nothing found, click Close to exit.If malicious objects are found, they will show in the Scan results - Select action for found objects and offer three options.Ensure Cure (default) is selected, then click Continue > Reboot now to finish the cleaning process.Only if Malicious objects are found then ensure Cure is selectedA log file named TDSSKiller_version_date_time_log.txt (i.e. TDSSKiller.2.4.0.0_27.07.2010_09.o7.26_log.txt) will be created and saved to the root directory (usually Local Disk C:).Copy and paste the contents of that file in your next reply. If TDSSKiller does not run, try renaming it. To do this, right-click on TDSSKiller.exe, select Rename and give it a random name with the .com file extension (i.e. 123abc.com). If you do not see the file extension, please refer to these instructions. In some cases it may be necessary to redownload TDSSKiller and randomly rename it before downloading and saving to the computer.

I downloaded a funny looking file from the internet and now have HUGE problem. I incorrectly shut down my computer after it was infected bc i believed that it had frozen on me. when i tried to reboot in safe mode it wouldn't allow me to do so. i had to use my window's recovery cd's and ran 'chkdsk /r' just so that i could get the computer to run in safe mode. In safe mode i was able to run MBAM, SAS and ATF. MBAM and SAS found a ton of problems and was able to clear them out. In normal mode i am unable to open any of those programs. i receive the following message from "Security Suite" (which i believe is the major virus still on my computer) Message reads as follows...

"Windows Security Alert: application cannot be executed. the file mbam.exe is infected. do you want to activate your antivirus software now?"

Then another one follows that up with....

"Windows reports that computer is infected. Antivirus software helps to protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. Click here for the scan your computer. Your system might be at risk now." (that's word for word btw, not my typos)

My AVG is also acting screwy and reports an infection of 'Trojan horse generic18.BMHL' about 30+ times!

Almost any icon that i click on my desktop will report that it cannot be executed. It also took about 15-20 minutes for the computer to boot up and just bring me to the desktop.

Hello, you guys are my last hope.

Notice I havent posted any logs or added the necessary attachments.

a)DDS.com would not download.
b)Gmer.com I could download and extract, but the virus has blocked it from running.

Update: Tried a script that disables/enables regedit. For the time being it seemed to have worked.
Run>Regedit worked.
DDS.com ran, ill update with the logs in a bit.
Gmer.com ran, ill update with the logs in a bit.

As you might help me get stuff working I will update the thread with needed information.

How it started/ first thing noticed:
1) Noticed AVG Free would not update anymore

Symptoms as of now:
1) AVG wont update
2) AVG after running for some time (~10min) reports a error about a crash. (also other virus programs like Kaspersky, Search & Destroy and a few others I tried do the same)
3) Regedit wont run ( displays a black screen for a second and goes back)
4) Firefox constantly crashes (2 times writing this topic)
5) After some time running I lose the ability to visit webpages, either "connection reset" or just the regular "page cannot display".
6) Safemode wont work.
7) Like I pointed out before, Gmer.com wont run. Same symptoms as running Regedit, flashes black screen and goes back to desktop.

Hi All,

First off, I'm not a computer rookie by an means. I've talked to several friends who are baffled by my problem as well...

I recently upgraded my system from an AMD X2 4600+ to a AMD Phenom II 940, which required a new MoBo and RAM. After backing up my computer to an separate internal drive, I formatted my main drive and reinstalled Windows XP Pro (with SP2). I began putting all my programs, drivers, and data back on the computer when I started to experience virus problems...AVG would pop-up saying it detected a problem blah blah blah. I tried Spybot, MalwareBytes, and AVG but the problem persisted. Eventually, it got so bad the computer wouldn't boot properly...after loading the Windows XP splash screen the system would shutdown and restart all over again. I tried running all the cleaning programs in SafeMode; they cleaned some things but the problem still persisted.

Since the first incident (3 days ago) I have reinstalled Windows about 8X's! I've tried formatting the main drive (quick and full), I've tried repairing the Windows installation (recovery console and automated)...nothing seems to work. A new install seems to get the computer cleaned, but it only lasts a little while.

I assumed the virus is residing on one of my two storage drives, so I disconnected them before reinstalling Windows. I then downloaded AVG, Spybot, Adaware, MalwareBytes, ComboFix, and SuperAntiVirus and ran each. I then attached the drives and ran the programs... Read more

Trying to fix my parents computer, running on windows XP. They obviously had some viruses and I ran some scans and got rif of some with different programs I'd already installed and tried to clean it out a little a couple days ago- it only got worse- it's now pratically unusable. Heres a list of the issues.

Desktop is blank with no icons, start menu comes up empty. I had to click an ad just to get into internet explorer here.
Getting a tons of errors at the same time reading "Failed to save all the components to //system 32..., the file is corrupted or unreadable." and another error that says the "Files indexation process has failed" and one that says "RAM memory is incredably unstable"
I can not exit out of a fake virus protection program called "system fix", and task manager will not open.
Occasionally a video or audio ad will pop up, ussually a virus protection ad.
I seem to be unable to right-click...
I can not seem to download any form of software
Most of the time when I search or click a link to something that will help, it sends me to an AOL website, or more spam.

Anything I can do to save this old piece of junk for them at this point?

Answer:Worst virus I've ever seen

Bump and update.

I've found logging in as a different user allows me one or two more abilities- it still shows a couple programs, and I can manage my way on to the internet, but every time I try to download some kind of anti-virus program, it ends in an error, and most times I try to go to an anti-virus site, it redirects me to spam. It still makes it look as if all the files are gone, even though they seem as if there still there- for example, I get get into itunes randomly and have all the songs, but when going into desktop, it doesn't show anything in any of main files at all.

Well I downloaded a bad torrent and got the windows update virus.

It kept popping up asking for me to run it, I kept hitting no and then I accidently hit yes in frustration.

I manually deleted the .exe in my temp folder and then I ran every virus software I could think of. However none of my software will update now, i'm assuming it's from the virus as it gives me some bogus error message and my internet works fine. . I did a spybot and ad-aware search and removed a few files I know weren't there before this incident. However the problem still persists and now all my scans turn up empty.

Any suggestions as to how I can purge my system?

Answer:Worst Virus i've ever had.

MalwareBytes normally does the trick on this sort of thing so download, install and then run that and you'll most likely get rid of it.

I had to repost this because apparently the mod who locked my thread didn't even read it.

I CANNOT CURRENTLY BOOT MY PC, EVEN IN SAFE MODE. I CANNOT MAKE ANY LOGS, DOWNLOAD ANY PROGRAMS, OR DO ANYTHING WITH MY COMPUTER. THE LOG I ORIGINALLY POSTED WAS MADE BEFORE MY COMPUTER WAS IN THIS NO-BOOT CONDITION.

I am posting this from my girlfriend's laptop.

I have a feeling this is a vundo virus or a variant of it, as some of the symptoms are similar to a vundo i previously got rid of on an old computer.

I cannot even boot my computer in safe mode, i get a blue screen of death immediately after windows boots that says DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL.

I tried using a vista repair disk to run system restore but that did not work. I managed to get a hijackthis logfile from the computer in safe mode before it crashed once, but now i cant even boot it long enough to do anything. I would just wipe the HD and do a fresh install but I need many files that are on my HD. any ideas what i can do??

Since I cannot make a log according to your preferences, I will repost the hijack this log from the thread that was locked.

The first symptom was being unable to display pictures in IE7. The "display images" checkbox was unchecked so figured that would do it. Could then refresh and see pictures. Could even exit IE and get back in and see pictures. But upon reboot it didn't stay checked. Upgraded to IE8. Same problem. Made sure I had all Windows updates installed. Ran Malwarebytes several times. The software would reboot my computer randomly, rendering it useless, and things began getting even crazy.

All along the CPU was/is buzzing at 100%. The hourglass is constant. Task manager shows all this crazy randomly named files. Media center won't work. Updated video driver. Didn't help. Firefox wouldn't work until a while later. Shows images but unless in safe mode, pops up ads even with popup blocker installed. At some point the DEP files (Userinit, Windows logon, Task Manager) were being thwarted, forcing reboots.

Spybot found lots of stuff but didn't delete it. Booted in safe mode. Malwarebytes hung every time. Spybot took hours, gave a nice list, but upon reboot I could see in task manager all these files respawning. Downloaded the latest version of HiJackthis (2.02). Tried to create a log. Got this error each time:

An unexplained error has occurred at procedure: modMain_CheckOther4Item()

I can't even run HJT is safe mode, so maybe the error is not related to the virus? I reinstalled it and it still failed. Then I ran the older version again. Zip. I tried running DDS, and that just hung forever. Below is the log I got from Spybot. Best I can do for now.

A new virus has just been discovered that has been classified by Microsoft as the most destructive ever. This virus was discovered yesterday afternoon by McAfee . This virus simply destroys Sector Zero from the hard disk, where vital information for its functioning are stored.

This virus acts in the following manner:
It sends itself automatically to all contacts on your list with the title:"A Card for You".
As soon as the supposed virtual card is opened the computer freezes sothat the user has to reboot. When the ctrl+alt+del keys or the reset button are pressed, the virus destroys Sector Zero, thus permanently destroying the hard disk. Yesterday in just a few hours this virus caused panic in New York, according to news broadcast by CNN.

This alert was received by an employee of Microsoft itself.
So don't open any mails with subject: "A Virtual Card for You." As soon as you get the mail, delete it!! Even if you know the sender !!!
Please pass this mail to all of your friends.

I picked up this virus, it puts a small blinking red x next to the time in the lower right hand corner. It made my wallpaper a clickable image that brings you to one of those antivirus scans on the internet. Also, I get 3 or four different pop-ups (yourprivacygaurd, ultimate defender, windows security alerts etc..). I don't have to be on the internet even and they pop-up. I've run Ad-aware, AVG, and Spybot to no avail. Below is my hijackthis log, someone pleease help, I'm dying here!!!!

Wow. This is terrible. The most malicous virus I've ever seen... I downloaded a file, not so suspiceus. Since it was .exe file, and to be sure - I scanned it with my AV (KIS 7.0 - Kaspersky Internet Security) The file came out clean. I clicked on it, and for a moment - nothing happend. THEN - the storm begin... Kaspersky pops up with a message about this file changing somthing (dont remmeber exactly what). I immedietly clicked on 'Terminate'. Then I got another pop-up from KIS, about that I should roll-back to the state it was b4 the file was exuctable. Of course, I choosed 'Roll-back' Then, all of a sudden - my PC began to shot itself down. It closed all the programs, and seems to do a complete shot-down. I reseted it just to find out: When I log-on to Win - KIS won't load up as it use to do. Just missing from the background. wont work anz more. When I tried to operate it manually by clicking on the avp.exe file - ive got a message - this file is not legal in win32 - or something like that... When I tried to search the internet for HiJackThis - Just writing this word in the explorer - cause the explorer to crash, no matter if it was IE, FF, or even Maxthon. When I tried to load the PC in SAFE MODE - it crashed and started over again. Non-Safe mode works just fine. When I Alt-Ctrl-Del - I found somtimes wired filenames appearing for seconds, like 2423235.exe Anyway - I manage to load the PC through old-german-rescuse-disc I found in my home, called Windows-XP-Virus-Editon. Hello guys, and thanks for any help I might receive. I had posted in the Windows XP forum on my original issue here: http://www.techsupportforum.com/f10/...xp-453138.html which was regarding a BSOD.

That problem was resolved by repairing windows but I am now unable to use most of the programs on my PC. Firefox will shut down and go into a "Firefox is already running" error. Internet explorer will also close down and give an error as well. Other programs such as Windows Media Player will unexpectedly shut down and give errors also. Wallpaper will disappear, etc. Just a few examples. Your going to see a few malware programs in the DDS, I did try using them before finding this forum, but they have all failed so far.

I did my best to follow instructions on what to do before posting, but I am unable to uninstall uTorrent and Daemon Tools, not even in safe mode. I have Windows XP Professional edition and the anti virus I was using was AVG 8 free.

I downloaded it here: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...be-3b8e-4f30-8245-9e368d3cdb5a&DisplayLang=en

I don't know what the problem is. I downloaded it, rebooted, and I ended up with a computer that only operated in 4bit color. I had other viruses/trojans to contend with so I said screw it and reinstalled windows XP.

After I reinstalled, I downloaded the service pack. Once again it sent my comp back to the stone age. I just removed it and my comp works fine again. Does this service pack have any other benefits - aside from completely destroying your computer?

First of all this virus will not let me download the GMER files, just like everything I try to download like any malware remover it crashes IE saying it incurred a problem and must close. Also it will not let make a zip file to send the attach text. So all I got is the dds.
Here`s what I`ve tried so far:

Like I said it won`t let me download any malware software files. It has also blocked my Mcaffe and windows defender. Microsoft update page times out and won`t load. It also disabled system restore. Even booting in safe mode I can`t access anything.
I bought an exturnal hard drive to save some files before I reinstall windows but my computer dosen`t recognise the drive. but the drive is recognised when I install it on my laptop. Next I bought a flash drive and downloaded Malwarebytes on my laptop. Now I can install it on my computer but it won`t execute.
Finally I said hell with I`m just going to bite the bullet and reinstall XP. When it started loading the files from my restore disk it stopped half way through and said it was missing a file. I could skip the file but I thought better of it because I might make things worse. I tried the disc on another drive with the same results. Someone told me the disc could be scratched, but I haven`t had a chance to try it on another computer since my laptop does not have a dvd drive. Do you think the virus could be making it stop the install of XP. Seems this thing has all the bases covered. Any help would be much appreciated. Th... Read more

okay so heres what its doing to my pc:
- every now and then (quite often) random music will start playing. when i look in the proccesses running at the time, ending "iexplorer.exe" (2 things running with this image name) it stops. this will be running even when no internet browser is, but when i am using one, usualy firefox, when i end the iexplorer.exe, it will come up with a little message saying it has recovered a tab. this is very anoying.

- it has disabled all my antivirus software, including AVG, the profesional verion i paid ALOT of money for,and free versions of avast and mcaffee. so i am unable to run ANY virus scan.

- any new programme i try to download will come up with a message saying i do not have the appropriate privalages to run the programme, so i am unable to use the "hijack this" and get a log. this is with programmes that i have clicked "run" on the installation, instead of save.

- when i save the file and try to install from that, it will say that -e.g.- "C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Desktop\HJTsetup.exe is not a valid Win32 application." and will not open.

- when running firefox no search engines work; it took me a while to find this site...
also when running internet explorer, search engines do work to find the relevent sites, but clicking on anyone of them redirects me to a random advetisment.

- windows live messinger closes down almost the second i log in

Question: Worst Virus Ever?

My daughter brought me her computer that has the worst virus I have ever seen. (She is running a farly new Compaq machine with Windows XP Media Center). This appears to be a new version of Privacy Center. On boot, computer goes through Windows startup and asks for login/password. From there, starts to load, then screen goes black and a screen VERY similar to Privacy Center comes up asking for money. (The only difference is that in the upper left of the 'page' it reads Control Center - but their 'About' link refers to it as Privacy Center) The computer will not go past this page. <ctrl><alt><esc>, <alt><F4>, <ctrl><Alt><delete> all have been rendered inoperational. I have read other articles here and in other places with instructions as to how to remove it - all suggest Safe Mode. Well, here's where this virus gets nasty! When going into Safe Mode, the system reboots after mup is loaded therefore Safe Mode is Not an option. Tried a bootable F-Secure CD - it found a number of harmful files and renamed them but the machine still does the same nonsense .

Any suggestions aside from System Restore? (and I'm not sure that will fix the problem either!)

I did not know who else to call or tell about this new, I believe is a virus the worst I have seen in my 30 plus years of experience. I called microsoft, but I got put on hold then a call back then someone with an oriental accent and then possibly charges just to give them information that would be good for all of us. So that is why I am letting you all know about this problem and hopefully you or one of your contributors may have seen this. Anyway, it all started with my mouse no selecting with the left select button consistently. Then my computer got slower and slower, even though I had about 2 different types virus protectors. I also had a register repair utility running at all times. So I decided to boot from the CD drive with the XP OS and try running the repair or reload utility. Well I first of all had problems trying to boot from the CD drive even though I changed the CMOS to force all defaults to boot from the CD. So I removed the CMOS battery and jumper-ed the reset on the CMOS. I even let it sit over night. I would still boot only from the Hard drive. Then I disconnected the Hard drive, then booted up from the CD drive, but still would not boot unless I put my new OS windows 7 in the drive. I then reconnected the hard drive but now the hard drive is not recognized. I now tried to boot up with the windows 7 OS, but again the hard drive would take over and tell me to load the OS because it was started once in all those trys, but resets in the middle of ... Answer:The worst Windows Xp virus I ever seen

First off this is not a virus.
I would remove the HDD and attach it to another computer either internally, using a USB Adapter or putting it into a USB Enclosure. Once on the other computer, you can run Check Disk on the drive. You can also download the ISO image for Seatools in my signature and burn the Image to CD using IMGBurn also in my signature and boot off of the that CD and run the Short and Long tests on the HDD. If any tests fails, the HDD needs to be replaced.
You can also download the ISO image for Memtest from my signature burn with IMGBurn. Remove all but one stick of RAM boot off of the CD in the troubled computer and run the tests on each stick of RAM Separately. If you get any errors (Red) that stick is bad and needs to be replaced.
If none of the afore mentioned CD's boots the troubled computer, try a different CD drive.

This is a continuation of the thread...http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/208115/worst-virus-everfor-me/Hi All,First off, I'm not a computer rookie by an means. I've talked to several friends who are baffled by my problem as well...I recently upgraded my system from an AMD X2 4600+ to a AMD Phenom II 940, which required a new MoBo and RAM. I tried running all the cleaning programs in SafeMode; they cleaned some things but the problem still persisted.Since the first incident (3 days ago) I have reinstalled Windows about 8X's! I've tried formatting the main drive (quick and full), I've tried repairing the Windows installation (recovery console and automated)...nothing seems to work. A new install seems to get the computer cleaned, but it only lasts a little while.I assumed the virus is residing on one of my two storage drives, so I disconnected them before reinstalling Windows. I then downloaded AVG, Spybot, Adaware, MalwareBytes, ComboFix, and Su... Read more

On the internet, you see ads that AVG is the number 1 anti-virus program. Either that's self-proclaimed, or they meant the most popular. Lately I've seen people saying positive things about Avast so I'm considering switching programs because of AVG's game trainer problem. The thing is, I've heard that I can't install a new anti-virus if one is already there. So I fear that if I uninstall AVG, I have to rush to install Avast because that will probably be the virus' strike point.

But is AVG really the worst? Recently I was watching a video for a game where someone was using a memory editor. I said it was a virus (AVG thinks it's a virus), then someone calls me a moron, then I explain, and then he says this is why Avast is the best. Then I admitted I use AVG, and he said "I pity you".

EDIT: Sorry for going off topic, but did someone nominate me as a skilled member?

Answer:Is AVG really the worst anti-virus?

It is the feeling of many that Microsoft Security Essentials is the best for Windows. It was created by MS, the creator of Windows. Your question cannot be answered, it is subjective.

My old Inspiron was recently infected with a whole host of malware--first installed a porn link to my facebook page, then installed a fake "Protection Center" on my computer, along with a host of China and other viruses identified, looking for me, of course, to give them my VISA car to buy the more than demo version, blah blah blah.

What's amazing is its protection. I've unloaded all the data I need from the computer, I have all the disks, and I'm ready to SCORCH THE EARTH--format c:

But these guys know that. When I go to format, (format c: etc.), I get a message that says "that volume is now running." I ask the computer to bypass that problem, and it complains that it cannot lock the disk, that my request is denied. Basically, the virus won't let me erase the disk volume.

My challenge here (what brings me here instead of the Geeksquad) is NOT TO PAY to have this removed. Please someone suggest a way to kill this thing so I can format the hard disk and start over. And yes then I'll install a better antivirus...

Hi there

Ignoring Ransomware which fortunately I haven't had what's the WORST piece of ad/[email protected]/mal / ware or virus you've had to deal with.

My worst one was trying to get rid of BUBBLEDOCK on a colleagues computer -- this would popup zillions of windows without allowing you to do very much on the computer. Traces of this were so deep into the computer that "classical virus removal" didn't work -- even sophisticated Virus removal which flagged it as removed didn't get rid of it completely/ - I just re-formatted and re-installed windows. That must be the WORST piece of software I've ever seen. It didn't damage any data but it was a pain to deal with.

Here's a description -- don't bother with the removal part of the article though.

Bubble Dock or a variant of Win32/BubbleDock.A Removal Report

Hi I just recently got my desktop all messed up by opening a crack program from a torrent download. When I ran the scan, NOD32 did not find any suspicious malware/adware/virus etc. However when I ran the crack, things went wild. NOD32 detected a removal.bat that was trying to run and it quarantined it. However, a few minutes later my explorer.exe was closed and I had no taskbar or desktop icons, all I see is my wallpaper.

I tried running in safe mode did a scan with NOD32, it detected nothing.
I tried using SDFix in safe mode, it did not detect anything.
I tried system restore and restoration was succesfull, however it did not remedy the situation.

My last resort was to do repair install of windows XP Professional.
I did so, however, Explorer.exe keeps restarting. The taskbar and desktop icons are available for 10 seconds, then it restarts everything.

I can't even view any files on windows explorer for more than 10 seconds.

This is the worst virus I have ever been hit with, now I'm skeptical when it comes down to downloading torrents.

I really don't want to do a fresh install of windows XP because I have a lot of important files that I can't even move because Explorer.exe keeps restarting every 10 seconds.

I was able to run a Hijackthis log so please tell me what I can do from here.

Thanks so much, and I hope the ******* who uploaded this torrent goes to hell.

So please anything that can be contributed to stop this mad virus would be much appreciate... Read more

Answer:The Worst Virus Ever Encountered

This is a follow up on the virus situation.
I disconnected the computer from the internet for the past 5 hours, and apparently
explorer.exe went back to normal. - no more closing and opening for every 5 seconds.
I decided to run more scans just to be safe :SDfix, NOD32, and SuperAntiSpyware.
All 3 did not detect anything. Ran scans all in safemode.
Then I decided to clear my temporary files.

I thought everything was fine, and I ran an online Kaspersky Scan.
There it detected several viruses and infected files.

Half way through i got a message saying that it had encountered a problem and had to close. Tried it a few times with same result. As per my first post, my computer is not working properly due to unknowingly downloading a virus in the guise of a scan program or install of an Active X. This download is called Install_Sbd_en.exeLike other victims, i had the red toxic logo wallaper ( i've gotten rid of that )......now desktop is white and i can't apply ANY picture to it. And cannot right click on the desktop ( it just doesn't work ), however, i can left click the icons.I had the three shortcuts ( spyware & malware protection, error cleaner, privacy protector ) repeatedly popping up on my desktop, but have removed them ( including the shortcuts on my favourites list ).Hoping you can help me remove this horrid thing. Answer:Threat!-Help-Worst virus I have ever had

16 more replies
Relevance 50.43%

The wave of viruses around 2000-2001 were incredibly nasty to deal with, especially in rapid succession. The biggest jump in creative virus nastiness was Stuxnet.

Actually, the depressing answer is that worst virus ever doesn't exist yet. Virus authors are like any authors of any software: they can improve on each other's existing work. New viruses can work like Stuxnet, except with fewer weaknesses on faster computers and larger numbers of with faster Internet connections, possibly attacking things that didn't used to be attackable online.

Answer:What is the worst computer virus ever?

Depends on what you mean by "worst". Worst as in damage done? Or worst as in spreadability? Worst as in how hard it is to get rid of it?

My list would go (including vulnerabilities), in no particular order:

Stuxnet
BadUSB
BadBIOS
Cryptolocker
Some of the major botnets
Heartbleed
Shellshock
POODLE

recently assuming that it would be better because i had to pay money for it, i got Norton Security Center. I found the whole package slowed my PC down immensely, aswell as the virus scanner not finding viruses that freely available software did!

Has anyone else had any bad experiences with paid-for software?

Answer:worst infection ever (boot virus)

Hello and Welcome.

It's possible you have a file infector virus onboard if you're restoring backed up data to a freshly formatted machine and it's getting reinfected. If this sounds like your situation, don't restore anything to the new install.

That said....

We want all our members to perform the steps outlined in the link I'll give you below, before posting for assistance. There's a sticky at the top of this forum, and a

Please follow our pre-posting process outlined here:

Greetings
I am tyring to download win8.1 pro but it asks to delete ms essentials, which can not be deleted at control panel. When you click it to delete it, you get an error message like this: 'You don't have to install ms essentials.'
I have gone to program files but I can not find any file in the name of MS Essentials to delete it.
Apparently MS Support has a solution but it is corrupted. When you use it, it finds a list with all programs except MS Essentials. For that you have to select 'not listed', after which you are asked to insert product code and ms essentials doesn't have product code.
The list also includes 'error messages', which I selected but didn't work.
Please help.

Answer:MS Security Essentials as a worst Virus

I have win8 but not ms defender. Just yesterday I discovered about it when I was googling to find a solution.

This virus is completely taking over my computer and shutting down any anti malware/spware programs etc. Its controlling everything. Its not letting me enable a firewall. Its not letting me run 'Defogger', or 'dds' or anything. Whenever I try to run a help program, it starts for 1 second then is shut down with a 'Security Warning' saying "Application cannot be executed. The file dds.scr is infected. Do you want to activate your antivirus software now?" Of course I select "No", but its not letting me run anything. Popups are popping up from everywhere. Need help, what is my next step??

Hi, I believe I have multiple virus attacks. At first it started with sharkyfiles survey. There was be a pop up telling me to click to download, once downloaded, it will import files then will I be able to remove pop up, however I had to take a survey in order to download, which was  sharkyfiles survey. I used malwarebytes and webroot to scan. webroot security detected a winsvhost.exe which i had it removed. After removable, pop up was gone, Everything seem to be fine untill i rebooted my laptop. At first the boot was very slow, given my laptop is less than a year old and pretty fast. After 10 minutes, everything seem to be normal and picked up speed. however, while in idle, I notice my disk usage was at 100% with no programs running. Only program running was google and it was at 30%. I dont know what was causing the high usage. It eventually got extrememly slow again so I did a system restore point which I notice I havent done in some time. However, there was one restore point that same day so I choose that one thinking windows does it itself.

booted the laptop and everything was fine. still a bit laggy.

After a few reserach, same day, I booted the laptop in safe mode with networking and did a virus scan there. none detected. even ran rkill.

Booted up normal next, same day. Everything was fine, seems all was well. fast boot fast start etc. disk usage seem to go down a bit b... Read more

Hi everyone,

(This is a pretty long post so I have listed my main problems below!)

A few days ago a neighbour gave me their laptop to have a look at, they were having problems getting it to work, and it was 'really slow'.

This turned out to be an understatment, it took FOUR MINUTES to load up My Computer!
The laptop was (and still is) very very buggy, won't let me click Programs (from the start menu), and in one of the most vital things I needed, "Add/Remove Programs", the list is simply blank!

After about five hours of trawling through files at 1 mile per hour, I identified the main problem.... Kazaa!

Now from past experience I know Kazaa is a P2P file sharing software, but the gamble most people unknowingly take when they download Kazaa is the viruses that come embedded in the software, and the other ones you get when downloading music or videos.

So I set about installing my strongest and most reliable Anti-Virus software, ZoneAlarm. This was eaiser said than done though, as the laptop was very edgy about me copyng and pasting, and I did not have a wireless connection in the house!
I eventually managed to get my memory stick to show up and loaded the installation file from there.

After 15hours of scanning, ZoneAlarm found and deleted 493 VIRUSES!!

I was pretty chuffed, but after I restarted the laptop it was, although slightly better (only 2 minutes to load My Computer now!), still excruciatingly slow and buggy.

So here is my situation:

I keep hearing people tell me that Norton is possibly the worst on the market.
I've used it for years and haven't had any issues that I know of.
I'm always defending it, but now I'm getting worried...

Which anti-virus is the best on the market and why?

Any offers of advice would be greatly appreciated to a lil noob like myself...

Hello. My work computer (Dell Desktop) has been infected with the winrscmde (svchost.exe *32). It is so badly infected that I do not think it can realistically be saved. The computer is missing many windows files, hardly ever boots up, blue screen of death, high memory usage due to this terrible infection.

I will attach and copy/paste all of the required information in the hopes that it can be repaired; however, if it can not be repaired, could someone please give me detailed instructions on how to reformat my main drive (that has the infection). I do not think that a simple OS reinstall (Windows 7 Pro) will get rid of the virus. I believe the drive is partitioned (C & D). If so, can I just reformat the partitioned drive - do a clean wipe and reinstall of OS (hopefully found on the D drive)? There is no CD that came with the computer (see TSG SysInfo log), but I think the drivers and OEM stuff would be located on the D drive? So, how do I do that? I desperately need someone to please help me soon as I must have this computer for work. Any help would be greatly appreciated. System restore doesn't work either - the thing barely stays on when it does come on.

Here are all of my logs for your review. Thank you in advance.

I have brought your issue to the attention of an appropriate team within HP. They will likely request information from you in order to look up your case details or product serial number. Please look for a private message from an identified HP contact. Additionally, keep in mind not to publicly post personal information (serial numbers and case details).

If you are unfamiliar with how the Forum's private message capability works, you can learn about that here.

Storm Worm Erupts Into Worst Virus Attack in 2 Years

Just in case you missed it, there is a new virus making the rounds with the sole purpose of building up a huge botnet. Make sure that virus software is updated and auto scanning.

"We are basically in the midst of an incredibly large attack," said Adam Swidler, a senior manager with security company Postini. "It's the most sustained attack that we've seen. There's been nine to 10 days straight days of attack at this level."

Hello,I am quite the computer amateur, and have recently gone through an ordeal with some viruses. I was first infected with Coreguard Antivirus 2009 (which also seemed to be called Internet Security 2010 or something similar), which was acting as a fake antivirus program. I managed to get the worst of it off of my computer my running several antimalware/antispyware programs. For the most part, my computer has been behaving, but I know there are still some bad things left. For one, I kept getting the "302 Moved" error on Google searches - at first I thought it was a Firefox security measure, but research proved that it signifies a virus, similar to the ordeal I have already gone through. As I mentioned, I am an amateur, so it's very hard for me to know what I should and should not do.Here is my log from HijackThis:Logfile of Trend Micro HijackThis v2.0.2Scan saved at 1:53:33 PM, on 2/11/2010Platform: Windows XP SP3 (WinNT 5.01.2600)MSIE: Internet Explorer v8.00 (8.00.6001.18702)Boot mode: NormalRunning processes:C:\WINDOWS\System32\smss.exeC:\WINDOWS\system32\csrss.exeC:\WINDOWS\system32\winlogon.exeC:\WINDOWS\system32\services.exeC:\WINDOWS\system32\lsass.exeC:\WINDOWS\system32\Ati2evxx.exeC:\WINDOWS\system32\svchost.exeC:\WINDOWS\system32\svchost.exeC:\WINDOWS\System32\svchost.exeC:\Program Files\Intel\Wireles... Ok working on my fiance's sisters computer, this time its the other sister. She had some serious issues going on with multiple variants of vundo a couple rootkits, browser hijacker and some droppers. Its really quit messy. I couldnt hardly boot up the machine, but I have it cleaned up as much as i can now. It took forever to be able even load up the microsoft update page. let alone get the computer to update spybot s and d. So with that I have already done considerable work and I can post some of the earlier logs if needed. But here are the most current logs.
-Currently I keep getting an adaware watch warning that it is blocking "crt5.tmp (3680) from loading" it is triggering as a win32 downloaderinjector.

-None of the spyware programs seem to adequately clear the memory of these problems I been having with each reboot the keep reloading. But at least I could finally update adaware, windows xp, spybot s and d, mabm, and superantispyware. previously they would be blocked or hijacked if in a browser.

Question: Worst I have seen

This is my first post. I have spyware that is not allowing me to update the spyware protection I have or get to sites that might have spyware removal tools. I can only get into the computer by using safemode with networking. Superantispyware can't even be downloaded from a cd I have with a bunch of spyware tools. Of course it also blocks system restore as well.

Thanks for any help you can give

Question: Worst. Day. Ever.

I've had a nasty problem with my computer the whole day, and I NEED HELP DESPERATLY! I think it's the work of a virus, too!!

Problem #1: Boot sectors on my PC couldn't be found, therefore the OS(XP Home SP1) was not able to load up. I thought, "Ok, I'll check the forum." Got helpeful reply, but didn't seem to work because I didn't even know there was such thing as an administrator password, and I couldn't find out what my manufacturer set it to! So the brilliantly helpful page that would have worked perfectly didn't, because PowerSpec sucks royal @$$ and sets admin passwords for their customers.

Problem #2: I go into the BIOS to check why the OS couldn't be located, find that the computer can't seem to locate my one-and-only HD. "Well, this shouldn't be too difficult", so I go in and then set the drive to AUTO, thinking that it would straighten itself out.

Problem #3: It didn't straighten itself out. It says "No hard disk found."
I say "#@$%@#$%!!!?!"

Please help me find my HD!

Question: Worst ISP

Post your reason for nominating the worst ISP

I don't know why I have such a huge chip on my should about AOL but anytime I try and help an AOL user - I just become extremely frustrated and disgusted.

I know not everyone knows a lot about PC's and I am far from knowing anything in the IT field but AOL users seem to have this nieveness (sp) about them

AOL (ISP) just brain washes their customers and basically handicaps them from doing basic functions that common users should be able to perform

(i.e Clearing Cache, Clearing Cookies, Typing in the URL field, Know where the URL box is, using Outlook, etc etc etc)

AOL to me is just a crap service and it frustrates me that so many people are just signing up for this crap just because they sent you some junk mail CD.

I have seen numerous polls that point AOL as the worst ISP to date yet so many people still use them. People get mad when I tell them I will not email an AOL account. They just don't get it.

Answer:Worst ISP

i am using earthlink right now and am not to thrilled.

First, My modem got toasted and it took them over two months and 4 phone calls for them to send me a new one.

second think is kinda strange, i have had their dsl for awhile and now they tell me it is no longer avalible in my area lol

anyway, just hasn't been a great experience IMO

which anti virus/computer protection do you think is the best
which do you think is the worst
i think kaspesky is the best and AVG is the worst

Answer:Which Is The Best And Worst

Well each program has their own way, it depends on what you like.
I think AVG is good except the false positives. Macaffe is also good. I don't think there's a good or bad program.
There all good, but I prefer others because of how they work and their protection method.

Hello all, trying to disinfect my girlfriend's computer, I've installed Ad-Aware, Spybot, and Kaspersky Auto Virus. With msconfig and the task manager I see a bunch of processes that I have no idea what they are, and some of them have no result on google, which is making this all that much harder to fix. I'm pretty sure there are multiple trojans and even if I delete them (assuming I can see them,) they come back. If I uncheck things in the startup menu, they recheck. Every time I open up Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox, the site immediately changes to a random advertisement page. Also, when the internet is connected, the laptop recieves random popups at random times to more advertisement pages. Certain trojans that are detected will delete, but come right back, and even if the program says it will delete on startup, it fails, and it's still there with another virus check. I cannot do online virus checks due to IE and Mozilla not working.

I already found surfsidekick and fixed it using this site, I dont know what the rest of the trojans even are. I believe surfsidekick is all gone, I could be wrong. Some of the processes that I have seen are:

explorer.exe (Not bad)
rundll32.exe (Not sure if this is bad)
afhcp.exe (This appears 3 times at once)
jvpxpt.exe (Sometimes appears 2 times at once)
bdcyv.exe

pdpxgcr.dll was found by Kaspersky Auto Virus, as was some of the above processes.

If anybody can help with this I will be eternally grateful.

Answer:Trying To Fix The Worst Pc Ever, Please Help

Hello,Please don't start with fixing items yourself, because this is confusing and I see you already fixed some entries.... so the log won't show it anymore what we have to manually delete.I also see that you have Kaspersky and Norton installed. This is a very bad combination and can actually crash your system. So I recommend you get rid of Norton or Kaspersky. It is important you don't miss a step and perform everything in the right order!!Go to your controlpanel > software > add/remove programs and look if NewDotNet, New.Net, New.Net Applications or New.Net Domains is present and choose to uninstall. If not present, Download and use this uninstaller.* Please make sure your anti-virus and anti-spy ware programs don't hinder the complete removal of the new.net software. In case they interfere, temporary disable them.Reboot afterwards! Important!!!* Download Brute Force Uninstaller.Unzip it to a folder of it?s own (c:\BFU).Read here how to unzip/extract properly:http://metallica.geekstogo.com/xpcompressedexplanation.htmlStart the Brute Force Uninstaller by doubleclicking BFU.exeNext to the 'scriptfile to execute'-window you'll see a little icon as shown in next picture: When you click that icon, a little window will open that says: 'Please enter the full URL to the sript you want to execute'In the field, copy and paste next URL:http://metallica.geekstogo.com/alcanshorty.bfuClick Ok. Question: Worst PC ever...

Ok so, I formatted and installed Windows XP Home SP2 3 days ago. Last night I finished installing all my programs, all my drivers, apps, the whole sha-bang.

Today, I had to shut down to fix one of my cathodes. I started back up and the Windows loading screen came up like normal. Then, instead of going to the welcome screen, it went black. And it sits there forever. I tried at least 8 times with the same result.

So I put in Knoppix Live to save all my stuff so I can reformat again. Well Knoppix goes to the loading screen and sits on "Configuring devices" forever and does not start. Great... Tried that 3 times.

Now I put in my XP Home CD that I just got 3 days ago. Brand spankin new.

I put the disk in, it says "setup is loading files" and then says "Setup is starting Windows" and sits there.. forever... just like the rest...

So now, I'm out of options. I don't know what the fuck to do. My next plan of attack is eraseing the disk with the Ultimate Boot CD and [email protected] killdisk...

Unless anyone has any other suggestions?

At this point, I don't know if I need PC help or psychiactric help...

Answer:Worst PC ever...

When you fixed your cathode you might have bumped a card, I'd reseat any pci/agp/pcie cards and memory and see if it boots.

I'm pretty sure I have some type of malware on my computer. I think I have a rootkit and God only knows what else. I've been fighting with this since Monday night.

I've tried scanning with McAfee and it didn't find anything. Sometimes McAfee now freezes. It doesn't normally do that. I also scanned with Malware Bytes Anti-Malware and found nothing. I scanned with the free version of Avira and found a few things, which were deleted. Then I scanned with the trial version of BitDefender. It found one thing and deleted it.

I'm pretty sure I'm still infected. My browsers open a lot, and I mean a lot, slower than they did before Monday. Sometimes they wont open at all. McAfee still freezes. It takes longer to open folders too, and sometimes the icons in the folder don't work. For example, the thumbnails in My Videos don't appear. This isn't normal for my computer. The vast majority of space on my computer is free, so I don't have too many documents. I just checked yesterday.

So I have every reason to suspect a rootkit is causing my troubles. I'm not an expert, so don't take my word for it. It might not be a rootkit. It might be some other awful pain in the butt.

My operating system is Windows XP, and I have a HP Pavilion Slimline s7320n PC.

I ran RootkitRevealer from Sysinternals. Here is what it found. I posted screenshots of what it found because I can't figure out how to copy and paste from RootkitRev... Read more

Why does it work for some, and not for others???? Do a certain percentage of mobos, cards, mem... are defective or something? what is the deal. A year and a half ago now, my backwoods nowhere town got DSL. And aside from the price, everything was good. Dished out the $59.99 a month for a 512/128 connection, and while the price was beyond ridiculous, it was a small price to pay to finally enjoy online gaming, incredible surfing speeds, and the occasionally foray into some not so legal p2p applications.

I got heavily into my first online game ever, Unreal Tournament 2004, specifically a mod called Carball, a mod I still play to this day. Unfortunately I can no longer play this mod, or any other game I own online whenever I feel like, because my connection's has become progressively worse since I got it.

It started slow, the pings gradually got higher and I'd get lag spikes more often, but it was still fine, but it's just went downhill from there. I started to notice that the connection would get worse at certain times of the day, until it got to the point that games were unplayable between the hours of 3pm and 11pm. Pings would widly fluctuate, and would routinely reach upwards of 300. Literally one second my ping would be 80, the next it would be 350. I called tech support and explained the situation, and they said they hadn't had any complaints and didn't know what could be done.

Of course at that point I assumed it was my hardware, but after trying some things and getting no change, I started to think about it. If it was my hardware, why would be connection be rock solid during cert... Read more

Answer:The Worst Connection Ever

It sounds like they are oversubscribed for the amount of bandwidth they have. It's true that DSL doesn't 'share' like cable, but it all still has to share the main pipes.

If they are a little shit dick company, you're probably screwed. My guess is that they are aware of it, and don't want to upgrade to more bandwidth, as it's super expensive for them to do in the middle of nowhere, and whatever line(s) they currently have is(are) fully tapped out. You can try and ask them what their main pipes to the Internet are, but I doubt they will tell you. You can also ask what percent usage they have on those same pipes. Usually anything above ~70% for substained periods is considered bad for any ISP worth a damn.

Whats the worst computer you ever "fixed"

So guy at my work says, whenever he opens firefox or IE it closes imediatly and windows gives me an error. So I take his computer and this is what I found.

801 Bad registry entries deleted with Regseeker
16 Viruses/Trojans Deleted with AVG
1 Virus Deleted with Avast
22 Pieces of spyware\adaware deleted with Adaware SE personnal
272 pieces of spyware\adaware deleted with spybot
22 log entries deleted with Hijackthis
2 entries deleted with CDshredder

he was running no firewall and no AV on comcast cable.

and it still doesn't work, firefox and IE still won't open, still recieves errors.

and to top it all off i couldn't update windows cause his copy was illegal and disk clean up and disk defragmenter never finshed cause it was so slow...

oh ya i still got paid though.

The malware staff checks the forum for postings that have 0 replies as this makes it easier for them to identify those who have not been helped. If you post another response, there will be 1 reply. A team member, looking for a new log to work may assume another HJT Team member is already assisting you and not open the thread to respond. That is why I have made an edit to your last post, instead of a reply. Please do not multiple post here, as that only pushes you further down the queue and causes confusion to the staff. Please be patient. It may take a while to get a response but your log will be reviewed and answered as soon as possible.Thank you for understanding.Regards,The weatherman (Moderator)

Hello,

Please forgive the length of this explanation. I have tried to prepare my post as described in your instructions, but the DSS program will not run as described, and I can't extract the ZIP file for the "gmer" program. At the moment, I can only run my computer in Safe Mode, and only if I "press ESC to prevent SPTD.sys" (as per the prompt during startup). Additionally, I am unable to uninstall "Daemon Tools" as you request, and running the program to uninstall the SPTD driver is useless because (I suspect) I am running in Safe Mode without SPTD.sys in the first place. In lieu of the text files you ask for, therfore, I will provide what details I can and ask for your suggestions.

My computer has obviously gone bonkers. A few weeks ago, I was hit with the "Malware Defender" virus, which did some pretty serious damage. After some research, I acquired Malwarebytes Malware-Removal program and ran it several times, (in safe mode and in normal Windows), until all symptoms were gone. The computer has worked fine for several weeks.

Last night, (about 2-3 weeks later), something even worse took over. All very suddenly, it splashed up a ton of pop-ups with endless dialogue boxes, displayed warning balloons from my systems tray, and disabled my tasks manager (ctrl+alt+del). I forced a shut down of my computer, and when I restarted it began to load Windows XP and then flashed up a blue screen before restarting automatically in the F8-... Read more

It all started when I looked for a program that would act as an alarm clock to wake me up this morning. Now I have a serious virus and my totally paid 2 years licensed NOD32 is totally unusable.

I have few programs like HiJack this, Combofix and SD fix handy but I need your help to start with correct steps to get this out of my PC, I was able to check some of the steps but now it's gotten very slow and I need to get into attacking position towards the virus.

It's XP service pack 2, and I was able to identify hldrrr.exe working in the background in NetLimiter program before the virus also made that program unusable.

I can't get hijack this work on the infected computer it says it's not a valid win32 application (which I suppose the work of the virus again)

what should I do guys? I really need information cleaned from HD because of some documents that I need for personal reasons, hope I can get a help on this one, thanks for your time.

Answer:The worst of all: hldrrr.exe -don't know what to do

Hello all,

Tonight when I was away we had either a power surge or a power dip, which are fairly common where I live. My PC is almost always on, and I have never had any problems before despite these occurrences. I am connected to a surge protector, but unfortunately not to a UPS (maybe this would have saved me?).

Presently my PC is in some loop where when I power it up it goes to the apology screen ("windows did not start successfully, etc.").

Options are:

1. Safe mode
2. Safe mode w/ networking
3. Safe w/ command prompt
4. Last known working config
5. Start normally

I have tried each of these, and they all lead back to Windows trying to reboot, then failing, and very, very quickly flashing to a blue error screen for a fraction of a second, then back to apology screen. I don't have time to begin to read the error message, but my undereducated guess is that either the power supply is fried or (more likely) the hard drive with Windows XP is fried or corrupted (please, no please!)

It is a Dell Dimension 4600
Pentium 4 2.6
1.5 GB RAM
Windows XP Home Edition SP2
2 Internal hard drives, 2 external hard drives

I have floppy drive but no access to floppy disks to make boot disk. I have Dell reinstall CDs, but would like to first check whether I can recover anything from the hard drive if it has failed. I do have working LAN network, and laptop.

Any ideas or suggestions so I can find out the extent of the damage and what the ne... Read more

About a month ago probably I downloaded some programs which seemed completely harmless, but one of them problably contained a virus , that probably is a rootkit , THE WORST TROJAN I'VE EVER SEEN!
It uninstalled my antivirus , disabled all the firewalls and took control of my PC.
Every time that I turn on my pc a window appears and says:" do you want to run this software? C:\ProgramData\Microsoft.com "
and sometimes it  says also :" do you want to run this software? C:\Windows\System32\wservice.exe " and this probably is the process of the virus , wservice.exe..  Here there are some screen of this (I'm italian so these are in Italian) http://imageshack.com/a/img41/6794/jh4d.png
And whenever I try to "kill" that process it says "Acces denied" (as you can see here http://imageshack.com/a/img809/933/8unr.png )
And  when I try to install any kind of antivirus it says "File not found and the file path" like in this screenshot
I tried all: MalwareBytes , Regcleanpro , HitmanPro that doesn't work , and ComboFix that says this error and can't run : "Warning!! Do not run ComboFix in Compatibility Mode . Doing so may damage the machine." but I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate so it isn't in Compatibility Mode!!
I really don't know what to do anymore!
I searched on google and the only one that had a problem similar is this http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/525263/trojan-that-no-one-has-seen-before/  .

Answer:ugh i have the worst luck

This is what happens when you use pirated software.

I suggest your take the hdd out of your computer, and hook it up as a slave drive on another system.

Back up all your important data, then format the drive.

Put it back into your machine as master, and buy a legit copy of Windows, and reinstall.

Question: I fear the worst

I have a terrible feeling that my computer is infected with a virus. THis is due to the fact that Norton antivirus is now innactive, by innactive i mean that auto-protect is disabled and if it is turned on it just exits, the same with the virus scanner. I decided to head to Symantecs website and i downloaded the tools for two viruses that matched the description of my virus, thes were a W32.Klez and the bugbear wirus. THe tools could not find these viruses on my computer, but i am still having the same problems with Norton, any help would be useful.

After searching online and finding all these wonderful RAM installation tutorials, I thought it would be nice and easy to buy me some RAM and stick in into my motherboard.

But I was not prepared for the horrors that awaited me.

This is where my RAM slots are...

Can't see? Having trouble spying them? Let me zoom it in for you!

Whoever designed my computer obviously hates me D:

Any tips as to how I'm gonna install this new RAM? You know, without tearing the thing apart to get to the slots? Computer is a HP m8170.uk.

Funk Mama out!

Answer:Worst RAM location ever!!!

First clean up those wires...

That is the usual positioning of the RAM slots, you know. It's just your case that is the problem

Question: Worst service yet

I purchased a laptop and when it was delivered 3 days ago the keyboard did not work. After being on the phone 57 minutes (I timed it) and transferred to 7 yes 7 different people I was told ok you can return it. I had used my dell card to purchase it and needed another one right away. I was then told that the return will not be on my card for 30 days after they get their junk back. So I am stuck paying interest on the card for something I sent back AND for the new one I had to purchase. I tried to find a different place to post this but could not and the phone service was so horrible I could not get through to anyone else to complain. I have purchased 8 dells in the past and this will be the last. The only reason I purchased again was because it had 3 day free shipping and I need it for work.

Answer:Worst service yet

You really can't blame Dell there . I understand it can be frustrating but thing do happen ( broken ) at times when you use delivers . At least they're giving you a replacement . And the credit card charge is normal with returns, all companies do that. Nobody is going to give you back your credit before the 30 days period
