Certain websites wont load, or they take very long to load.

Question: Certain websites wont load, or they take very long to load.

This problem just started happening. It only occurs on this network I have in my home. I have used multiple computers at a different house and the internet is perfect. So I am assuming I have some sort of virus on my network. I need help

Preferred Solution: Certain websites wont load, or they take very long to load.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I use firefox as my browser. Lately some websites either won't load or take in upwards of 20 minutes. My virus scanner keeps catching virus's. I have run my virus scanner(CA VIRUS SCANNER), ad-aware, spybot, spysubtract, and superantispyware, they all cuaght something the first run through but now come up clean. i then browsed the forums here and found a similar post. I tried some of the suggestions there, which were to repair my network connection in the control panel, and to set firefox's network connection to autodetect, these seem to have helped but some sites are still slow particularly pogo games(my wife)pogo.com loads up fine it's the popup game windows that have the problem. thanks for any help.

recently websites take long to load and sometimes time out, nothing has really changed in terms of software, and i believe it's a problem for another computer at my house as well, i am connected via ethernet so it's not a wireless hardware issue and my internet connection doesn't drop when the websites time out, and it's not firefox because when i ping via command prompt sometimes the pings time out

i did a traceroute for google and a website i visit regularly, and i noticed that the first trace times out in both occasions, i'm not really familiar with traceroute but i believe the first trace is to the router/modem, however i can ping the router/modem fine and connect to the config via firefox, i have also tried restarting the gateway and the problem still persists

I am using Win 10 and use FF as my browser. I believe that is with Win 10 that this issue started. When surfing the majority of the page loads quickly.(I have a cable connection with 25+Down and 5+Up speed.) The video element of the page (whether it is uTube, slate, salon, reddit, BBC or any site with video element) takes 45-90 seconds to load/play. Also, if it's Flash, I have to "stop plug in" reload and wait more. I believe on uTube the vids play using HTML5 (I think), also with a similar delay. I have extensions installed (adblocker, do not track, privacy badger and Flash Control) but those have been installed and used successfully before starting Win 10. I surf a lot of news, and aggregators sites and like the ability to see the short videos that sometimes accompany the story. This issue is a pain and probably adds an hour a day to my surfing, just waiting. Any help or direction would be greatly appreciated.

Question: Websites wont load

I've been having an issue for a while now where suddnely I am unable to load websites in my browser. I'm using Firefox 2, but I'm sure this isn't browser related. I've tested in IE and same issue. I can't even access my router. However all other internet activity works fine (IM, IRC, etc).

Also my other pc works fine when I am having issues. I'm using WinXP sp2. I don't recall any changes being made that should cause such an issue but any solutions would be great! Thanx in advance

Hey I am having some issues loading certain websites, the newest addition to this list is www.foobar2000.org. It seems every so often another site gets blocked.

I have booted into safe mode with networking and all sites work with that.

I have tried both Firefox 3.5 and I.E. 8, and I am running Windows 7 Pro x64

Internet explorer will not load many pages, they just load and load and nothing happens, and eventually I will get a page saying
"The page cannot be displayed" and says it may be something to do with my browser settings.

MSN will not log in, this is the message I get;
"We were unable to sign you into MSN Messenger, possibly because of a problem with the service or with your Internet Connection. Please make sure that you are connected to the internet"

My friends can get on MSN, and I am definitely connected to the internet, or I wouldn't be writing this. I click the Troubleshooter button and then I get this message;
"We were unable to troubleshoot your connection to the .NET Messenger service. There is possibly a problem with the service, your Internet connection, or your proxy settings. Please check your settings and make sure that you are connected to the Internet"

I have run a virus scan on Mcafee (my antivirus) and that picked up nothing, and I did an online scan with trend micro and panda which also found nothing, I also updated and ran Ad aware which found nothing. I have cleaned cache and cookies all offline content and the history. I tried Mozilla Firefox also and exactly the same happened, I also tried Start --> Run --> Type "ipconfig /flushdns" without the brackets, and setting my privacy/security levels to default but still no luck, I don't know what to try next, I am using Windows XP SP2 Home, Internet ... Hi all,

I'm having problems with my Windows XP machine, I can visit some websites but when I try to visit the following (and I'm sure theirs more) the webpages never complete loading.

microsoft.com
msn.com
hotmail.com
google.com
ask.co.uk
facebook.com
gametribe.com
ebay.co.uk

I'm not sure what to do or what could be the problem with my computer. It was running fine just last week but now I'm having major problems with my internet. The weird thing is that I have several other computers on the same network as my Windows XP machine that has the problem and these computers can access the above websites without any problems.

Looking forward to any advice!

Thanks,
Sacred

Answer:Some websites wont load?

Check your firewall or browser is not blocking access to these to these specific sites, or any anti-malware apps you have running real-time.

Also, when was the last time you did any malware cleaning/preventative maintenance?

Try using something like CCLeaner to clean your machine and then reboot and re-try accessing those sites once the cache is clean.

So I finished my new website, and I went to go log on my account on 110mb.com, but the website wont load at all. But my website at mipit.110mb.com works just fine. I started up Filezilla and tried connecting to ftp.110mb.com but it times out. I try to ping 110mb.com and it returns after one attempt and says: General Failure. I tried the website on another computer and it works, no lag or hiccups. It seems to only happen with this computer.

Hi guys,

I did a fresh install of vista on my Laptop a few days ago and after that neither of the browsers will load websites.
At first FF worked for 1 day and I got my antivirus and spybot but after that it doesnt want to work.
They come up with the 'Cant load server' page every time.

I am usning OpenDNS on my router and have done for a long time.

Just out of interest my iPod(which I am using now) and phone can access the internet via my wifi fine with no problems.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Answer:FF or IE wont load any websites?

Have you tried reinstalling your modem or lan card drivers?
I have encountered that problem before and the above method works.

By the way, have you also try using the internet directly to your computer without the use of a router?

Question: websites wont load

good morning,

i have a problem since a longer time now and im really out of solutions.
half of the websites,i try to open, wont open.
they keep loading a long time..till i get the typical error msg

- "cant connect to xyz"
-or the page stays just white and at the bottom it says 'done'

if i refresh it,it will repeat one of those two.
i have that regardless of the browser im using.
firefox,ie.. same.
then other websites work just fine.

i used even a program to clear cookies and cache, didnt help.
its strange,as it happened just out of the blue and everything did work before without any problems.

i googled a bit and found out,im not the only one with that problem, but i didnt find any solutions so far.

the last thing i have in mind is to format, but i really dont wanna do that.

any1 gots an idea?
thx

Answer:Internet wont load certain websites

I experienced this frustrating problem. Thought it must be DNS problem. Tried all manner of solutions including flushing the DNS cache. Eventually checked the router’s settings and found that a built in parental control thingy which blocks sites based on key words was activated. It was causing the problem even though there were no key words entered! It is a Sky sagem router/modem by the way.

I've been having a little trouble today with some websites not loading and just going to the normal firefox "couldn't load page". I dont know if it would be any virus or just temporary connection issues but I just want to see what I should do anyway.

It doesn't do it all the time, only sometimes when I go on a website it wont load, but then I can just refresh and connect again and it may work.

Hi guys

I started at University the other day, and the internet has been working fine, until yesterday when I came back to campus after returning home for a few days.

I tried straight away to sign into oovoo, but it wouldnt sign in.. so I tried skype.. and it loaded. Then I stopped the call after chatting for a while and I tried to switch over to my other skype account. It wouldnt sign in.. just like the oovoo problem.

Today, Google has been loading fine all day long under the google.co.uk address, but now when I try to load it, it comes up as if it cant load (like when you dont have a connection, but I can still load the google search engine by going through my gmail account and clicking on the search on the top toolbar. And Im using the internet now, so I know it works apart from that.

Anyone know whats going on? Im using a Acer Aspire 5733Z with Windows 7 64bit, if that helps at all.

Chris

Ok so a few days ago i log on and was going through some of my favourite websites etc. When i come across that one wont load, i ask a few friends if the website was down and it wasnt. I done a virus scan and spyware scan, deleted my inter history, temporary files and cookies, but the problem was still the same. The main site that wont work is google search but i can use live search. The thing i found interesting was that i could access all the "broken" websites through a proxy server. Another thing is i think this *virus* is changing some images and advertisements to "Warning - Spyware" or "Congratulations 1,000,000th user" etc. (Only thing that makes me think that its changing the images and advertisements is because ive seen "Warning - Spyware" etc. a lot unusaully and i tried loading a ytmnd page and the same "Warning - Spyware" image came up.)

(I wasnt too sure what forum to put this, but this seemed the best place)

Help much appreciated,
~DRB

**Update**: Ok downloaded Safari (instead of using firefox,IE and Opera) and the websites seem to be working, but IE and firefox are still not loading these sites.

Hey all,

so firstly thanks in advance for any helps.

Basically noticed something was wrong with my pc. Most websites that require a log on, including facebook, ebay, even this one, wouldn't load or would partially load. Tried in IE and FF. All loads fine in windows safe mode.

Decided to scan and clean my pc. Ran norton virus scan, it picked up a Vundo virus. used VundoFix V6.7.7 to get rid of files.

Host file is normal with just localhost entry.

Have installed, updated and run CWShredder, ad-aware and S&D in safe mode. But sites still won't load. grrrr. any help is appreciateded.

Most websites show up just fine, but some show up as text only with hyperlinks. I am also having problems with some websites not showing at all, like when i try to access http://www.nerdist.com/.

My first though was that it was my computers firewall or antivirus (avast), but this happens on every computer on the network. I have a Belkin G wireless router.

Hope someone can help me.

So the other day I get on the computer and Microsoft Security Essentials says that there are some things it could not remove and to download this other program (from Microsoft) to finish the job. So I did that and it said it was all cleaned. So I restart it again and run a quick scan just to be sure and I get the same thing over again. Every time I run a quick scan, it keeps saying it removed trojans and exploits and backdoors. The same ones are either coming back or not there or were never there.

Performance wise, the only thing it's causing problems with is web browsing (so far, I know these things can get worse). If you go to search in google, sometimes:

the search won't load at all
you can click one of the results and it will take you to another search engine instead
you can click on one of the results and it takes you to a "404 Not Found | nginx" page

And some addresses you can type in and it immediately says 'server not found' while it works on another computer. It seems to only do it in firefox because it will work in Chrome.

When I run malwarebytes, it gives me a list of things (things I swear I clicked remove before) but one of the files it shows infected is a system32 file (sytem32/grpconv.exe) and I wasn't sure if I should remove that one.

Also, if you tell me to run combofix, before you do so can you advise me on the fact that even though I know without a doubt that both norton and microsoft have realtime protection disabled (be... Read more

Our users have IE 7 and 8. We keep them locked into place by pointing IE to our firewall product (tools > internet options > connections > lan settings), so that only approved sites are the ones that our people can access. In the last few days, several of them report issues with specific websites loading very slowly - load times of over an hour just to get the log-in screen to appear.Troubleshooting Steps:1.) Unchecked the "use proxy server for your LAN" under the IE menus---> Site resolves instantly, as it should---> This pointed me to the direction that perhaps the site wasn't configured for our firewall2.) Re-checked the "use proxy server" box, and specifically configured the site in our firewall---> Site continues to resolve slowly, with the same load times as before performing step 1That would normally indicate that the problem is on the vendor's end. Something may be wrong with their site. And that's the line of thought I was pursuing until I was reported back to that the users are having the same problem on other websites. These new websites they're having problems with are, and have been for a long time, configured properly in the firewall.I'm not sure what my next step is to pursue. What am I looking for now? I don't know enough about networking to figure out where to track next.

Backstory (skip if you need)
I'm fixing someones laptop, It was slow and taking 30 minutes to startup, i did the usually virus scan and restarted, then it was stuck in an auto repair loop. I used a windows 8 Install CD from microscoft. None of the options in it would work, install (key doesnt match) reset (missing partition), image recovery (cant find an image), restore (no restore point), etc.

Used command prompt, did stuff like bootrec, bcdedit, diskpart, and chkdsk. After it ran chkdsk it finally loaded windows. I reset/reinstalled the OS completely. Fixed, restarted, running smooth. Owner said it was working great for a day, then after turning it back on it was in an auto repair loop.

Now
It's stuck in a preair loop, I can't even boot from the 8 CD! Have it configured in the bios, it shows the the blue windows logo then the screen goes black for 3 minutes and a blue screen flashes for 1 second saying "Your PC ran into a problem and need to restart. Collecting some info (0% complete) search online for error: 0x000021a"

The weird thing is, Windows 7 disks boot fine, but it's "not compatible". And if I physically remove the HDD, it will boot into the windows 8 CD. So I put the HDD back in (while still at the command prompt) and it wont take my commands in related to the C: . I get a "System cannot find the drive specified"

I also tried hooking upp the HDD to my PC SATA, it shows in explorer, but just right clicking it crashes explorer.exe. D... Read more

UPDATE:

I got a windows 8.1 disk made and it allowed me yo boot from the CD, but it's SLOOOOW, it takes minutes to load reset or w.e (none of them still work), or open the command prompt.

I ran chkdsk /f /r /x but it didnt help. chkdsk /r ends with:
"A disk read error occurredcc0000185
Insufficient disk space to fix the Usn Journal $J data stream."

Before when I ran it, I'm pretty sure it let me restart and booted into windows, not now.

Next I tried bootrec.
/fixmbr - succesful
/fixboot - succesfull
/rebuildBCD - Total identified Windows installations: 0
/scanOS - Total identified Windows installations: 0

Next bcdedit
Nothing worked "The boot configuration data store could not be opened. The requested system device cannot be found."

Next sfc /scannow
"There is a system repair pending which requires reboot to complete. Restart Windows and run sfc again."
Then sfc /SCANNOW /OFFBOOTDIR=c:\ /OFFWINDIR=d:\Windows
"Windows resources protection didnt find integrity violations"

BCDBoot c:\WindowsFailure when attempting to copy boot files

Next diskpart - but I forgot what I did before that may have worked. All i can remember is I had to select a disk or volume, and do something with it.

yesterday, everything on my pc worked fine, then all of a sudden it started to play up, MSN windows were closing on their own... etc...

so i tried to do a scan in Norton, it got to about 100 files and closed, then it came up with an error, i cant remember the exact words, but it was something along the lines of "if you are experiencing irregular behaviour please re-install Norton".

so i went to housecall.antivirus.com, did an online scan, deleted the one virus that was on there, installed Norton again, and i thought everything seemed fine...

i told someone about what was happening and they suggested downloading HJT, which ive had before,so i knew which site to get it off

i went to load it in my browser... and it came up with page not displayed, so i tried to go back onto housecall online antivirus scan and it wouldnt load either, i tried mcafee, that didnt work, so i tried to load something completely unrelated to antivirus issues... faceparty.com, and it worked perfectly...

ive reset my internet settings, so it isnt them... any other ideas?

anyone help?

This is only happening on my Win7 computer. About 20% of the time, I'll either get "the connection was reset", or the page will only load some text.
If I restore to windows default host file, all is fine. Except of course I get the annoying ad popups and stuff.
My 2 other xp computers are using the same MVPS hosts file and the same web pages load fine, with popups being blocked by the hosts file.
This started about 2 months ago.
I tried Firefox in safe mode, no help. Internet Explorer does it, too.
I tried offloading firewall, no help. Rebooted router, no help. Reinstalled Firefox, no help.
I deleted all temp internet files, cookies, no help.
The only thing that fixes it is restoring to the default Windows hosts file.

The only way I can see my websites is to refresh over and over till they load. Might take 5 times, maybe 10.

Answer:Websites wont fully load with MVPS hosts file....

Alright I fixed it. I'm using F-Secure anti-virus (free from my isp). When I un-checked the "scan and remove viruses from web traffic" the problem disappeared.
I still have "real-time scanning" and "browsing protection".

I am trying to solve this problem on a friend's laptop. It is a Sony Vaio with Windows 7 64bit, using Chrome. Bought within the last year. I can play videos from sites like youtube, hulu, and sports sites, but when I try to play a video from putlocker, gorillavid, or other streaming sites typically used for videos like anime or tv shows the video either doesn't load (just spins) or takes a REALLY long time to load, almost like it is downloading the full video before it plays.

I borrowed another laptop from the library which also has Windows 7 and Chrome and all the videos play fine on it using the same internet connection, so it is definitely something local to this machine.

I have searched the net for three days trying to find a solution, but to no avail. I have the latest versions of flash, java, etc. I have tried older versions of flash. I've disabled the antivirus and firewall. Disabled the built-in flash plugin for chrome. I really am not sure what else to do. If anyone has any suggestions I would readily welcome them. I have tried other browsers as well and had similar issues.

Answer:Online videos do not load or take a very long time to load

No ideas I guess?

I don't know what happened, but suddenly the services console takes forever to load, it is "Not responding" but after ~10 min it finally loads and works fine. The same happens for the Palm Desktop. Directory Opus (an explorer replacement) appears on the task manager but won't load at all. The console and palm desktop also appear in the task manager since launch. The system is 99-98% idle during all this. Other parts of the computer seem unaffected. Any ideas where to start? Many thanks,Uriel.

Hi all, I am new to this forum & I am hoping you will be able to help me with a few problems I'm having with my PC.

This seems to be an intermittant problem but it happens more often than not.

When I boot up the pc no matter who's login i use (mine or the wifes) when the desktop loads, the taskbar down the bottom is frozen. When i move the mouse over it there is just a hour glass.

Also certain programs won't load up like I-tunes or the defrag yet when i go into processes the itunes exe is showing.

Internet explorer seems to work ok.

I have Avira anti-virus & I am using Adaware, Spybot & spywareguard.

My system details are:

Computer just turned off automatically today and it will not load past the begining load screen with the Alien Head load screen where you can press f2 and enter setup or f12 to boot options. I cannot load safe mode or remove the battery as it does not have any place to access it.
Windows 7. Alienware m14x.

Answer:Alienware Laptop wont load past Alien Head Load Screen

Any fans running, any post beeps? Your laptop does not have a CMOS battery. Try removing the chargeable battery and power adapter. Press and hold the power button for 30 seconds. Plug in just the power adapter and try powering up the machine again.

I have a NB100 And when it trys to boot i get Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt: System32\Drivers\Ntfs.sys

I have connected a DVD drive with the product recovery disc GMR400882EN0 inside it and powered on, on booting i keep F12 pressed and I get the options for setting it to boot from HD FDD CD/DVD USB Memory, I set it to boot from CD/DVD

When it loads it gets to loading RAM image I get Error 32768 File PEBASE ISO Could Not Load.

I am suspecting faulty recovery disc? and a new one is 29.99? But the laptop is under warranty but they told me to do this.

My daughter has a Asus 904HD and once she had a problem... She had none of the poor support of go and do it yourself... Asus sent a courier very fast-confirmed pick by text-fixed-delivered back confirmed drop off by text within 5 days!!

Answer:NB100 Recovery Disc wont load - Error 32768 File PEBASE could not load

>I am suspecting faulty recovery disc? and a new one is 29.99? But the laptop is under warranty but they told me to do this.

I doubt it?s a faulty recovery disk.
The error message: missing or corrupt: System32\Drivers\Ntfs.sys could be caused by faulty HDD or another hardware component.
In your case I recommend contacting the Toshiba ASP for hardware check and new OS installation. The notebook is under warranty (as you suggested in the posting above) and therefore everything should be done for free because it?s covered by warranty

I dont know if this is posted in the right area but I'm so desperate to get my laptop working its unreal.
First it started off with my laptop crashing, I had totally forgot it needed to do a windows update and turned off my laptop in hopes that it would work properly.
After that my laptop has not been working. The machine turns on and gives me two options. Start windows normally or do a repair. Upon starting windows normally, it loads so far before sending me back to the two options of start windows normally or repair. On the second time I clicked repair. My laptop then goes so far before presenting me with a blue screen that is usually the screen where my accounts are. The cursor still moves but it loads no further even after leaving it an hour. I decided to make a repair disk, hoping that the problem was because of windows. the disk loads, gives me a choice on the keyboard language then does nothing. I honestly have no idea what to do, I want to keep all the files safe on my computer as I havent backed them up and I have worked so hard on the projects. someone please help

Answer:windows 7 refuses to load and system repair wont load

Do a hardware/software reset with your BIOS:Shut down and turn off the computer.
Unplug the computer from the wall or surge protector (then remove the battery if it is a laptop).
"Remove the computer from any port replicator or docking station, disconnect
cables to printers or devices such as external monitors, USB memory sticks or SD cards, headset or external speakers, mouse or auxiliary keyboard, turn off WIFI and Bluetooth wireless devices." (Use Hard Reset to Resolve Hardware and Software Issues HP Pavilion dv5000 Notebook PC series - HP Customer Care (United States - English))
Hold down the power button for 30 seconds. This closes the circuit and ensures all
power from components is drained to clear the software connections between the BIOS
and hardware and clear any corruption in the temporary memory.
(If it is a laptop, plug the battery back into the laptop and then) Plug the computer back into the wall. Do not reconnect any unnecessary peripherals; monitor, keyboard,
and mouse should suffice and be the only peripherals reconnected.
Turn it on to reinitialize the software connections between the BIOS and hardware

After doing those steps, clear your CMOS by entering the BIOS (see your system manual for steps to enter the BIOS), going to the EXIT screen, and loading setup/optimized defaults.

Some websites, for example:
http://www.colonialfirstate.com.au/ and
http://postbillpay.com.au

do not load in my newly installed IE7.

The error message says:

This program cannot display the webpage

Most likely causes:
You are not connected to the Internet.
The website is encountering problems.
There might be a typing error in the address.

What you can try:
Check your Internet connection. Try visiting another website to make sure you are connected.
Retype the address.
Go back to the previous page.
More information

But the same websites load OK in Firefox.

I have fiddled around with the security settings etc., but still no joy.

I did not have such a problem with IE6.

I also use Maxthon Browser from time to time. But since that is based on IE engine, even that will not show some websites.

Can somebody suggest a solution?

The only Firewall that I use is WinPatrol. I clean up Malware once in a while with AdAware SE.

Answer:Websites Will Not Load in IE, But Will Load in Firefox

Hello, This is not an answer to your question, I just wanted to say that 'WinPatrol' is not a firewall.

Answer:Web pages wont load or load completely

Do you have more then 1 computer connected to your modem/router? If so, does this happen on them? If not, can you connect a separate one (ex: friend's laptop) to test?

Normally when you get errors like this it's best to rule out a problem at the modem/router and provider before going crazy over trying to fix a problem (that may not exist) on your PC(s).

Also just a couple of other questions:

Who is your internet provider (ISP)?
What connection type do they use (Cable/DSL/Fiber/Fixed Wireless/Mobile Wireless)?
What is the make and model of your router and modem?

Any help with this problem would be great

Answer:Some Pages wont load at all and others load fine

Try running a ping to the sites that have trouble loading to see what kind of connection times you are looking at. I would also run a tracert to those sites to see if there are any places dropping the connection.

When using the internet I get periodic pop-ups suggesting my computer is infected (duh!). This wouldn't be so bad except that most popular websites won't load (e.g. hotmail, facebook, google searches - though google.com works, etc.). My Norton Antivirus apparently failed to protect against this malware, and doesn't detect any problems. Ad-Aware and Spybot Search and Destroy detected and fixed several problems (e.g. VirtuMonde) and have since been uninstalled, but my problems continue unabated. Please help if you can. ok this is gonna be a bit long but i want the details there. the issue pc is my old pc. it has windows 7 its an asus msn-la motherboard i cloned this drive and used it in my new pc. after a few months my new pc's drive died and i took the old drive from the issue pc(witch was not giving issues at this time) and stuck it into my new pc until my replacement drive came. when i got the replacement drive i cloned the drive again onto the replacement drive and then put the new drive in the new pc had no issues there. put the old drive back into the issue pc (this is when issues started) the pc booted up to the windows desktop loading screen fast but once it got there it sat there for like 5 min before loading into windows. once it loaded into windows it was un usable for around 10 min while it loaded background stuff. once it finally loads into windows if i try to open anything its still responding extremely slow. is there anything i could do to fix this or is this going to me a re install only situation? i did try to use a windows 7 disk to do a startup repair but it claimed i couldn't do it because i dident install from that disk.

Yesturday my vista was working great, and on the screen as i went to shut it down said "updating files do not shut down computer 3/3 100%" but it stayed like that for 4 hours, so i turn it off manualy once i turned it back on the next day it asked me for my password i put it in and as it was loading it was vey slow and would take 5-6 minutes for programs to load up.

Also when i go to click on like my internet it dont work, not even my games work, they try to load then freeze. So i did a scan on it and its still having this problem. After i got frustrated i went to shut it down again and it says "logging off" but stays like that for hours, so i have to manualy turn it off. Now with internet issue, it works in safe mode with connection, but not in my normal screen. WHY IS THIS DOING THIS?

I am running XP on an Optima Laptop using IE 8, although I still cannot load if I use any other browser-Chrome,Safari etc... and I have not had any problems previously.
My anti virus is Norton and it comes back OK with full system scan.

I've just got the internet and find that both internet explorer and firefox don't show some sites (eg won't show microsoft, some anti-virus software companies etc) yet it shows most others I go to, even obsure ones. I've tried disabling both the windows and the router firewall. I've dropped all the security levels in the Privacy and Security tabs of the Internet Options. I have SSL3 and TLS enabled. I've allowed ActiveXs to run (with prompt). I've checked C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\hosts and find the only line is: 127.0.0.1 localhostI've tried all the above simultansously but the microsoft website will not load. I can't believe it and many others have been offline for many days now. Very little software has been loaded on this laptop and it has no history of surfing and this problem I noticed almost immediately after connecting up to my router for the first time. I downloaded version 8 of IE from microsft (from a different computer a week earlier). I then downloaded the most recent firefox from here upon my struggles with IE. I'm running Microsoft Windows [Version 6.1.7601] on an HP 2000 Notebook. I have a Belkin router (not sure what model).
This problem started while I was watching a Twitch.tv VOD that stopped playing. When I refreshed the page, it wouldn't load at all, and now neither Twitch, Twitter, nor Yahoo websites will load up at all. This is happening on both computers in my house. When I try to browse the sites on my smartphone through mobile data, they work fine, but through wifi they will not load.
I was recent;y able to access a Twitch page by using the secure.twitch.tv link format for some reason, but the VOD still doesn't load. Not sure what that signifies.
I tried a few things I read about online to try and fix it (changing IPv4 settings, manually entering DNS server, disabling all website filters, ....), but nothing has helped.
I'm not sure if these things are important, a few things I noticed from an"ipconfig /all" run that might be abnormal (I'm not super tech savvy) are: DHCP is not enabled for my Wireless LAN adapter, IP Routing is not enabled, and WINS Proxy is not enabled.

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Answer:Can't Load Certain Websites

Press the Windows key + R to open a Run box.

Type services.msc

Press Enter.

Locate the DHCP Client service. Double-click it and make sure it's Started and Automatic.

Use the following page to help you set the other services you've listed back to their default values, if they aren't already:

There are two websites in our computer lab that will not load. I have tried several different browsers, turned off firewalls, scanned for viruses and spyware and emptying temp files, etc. I can ping the addresses, but when I do a traceroute they time out from the 5th hop forward. We can visit any other website, it is just these two sites. The server in the lab is running Windows 2003 Standard Edition, and there are three routers. There twenty computers in the lab all using Windows XP. We could use some help, since the one website is ours (www.campbellfordcrc.ca) and the other is a website that the public uses constantly for job searches (www.ospreycareers.com).

The only spyware that was found was one called AutomatedSurf. However, the antispyware program did remove it.

Thanks

I am having a similar problem as Coltrane -
Thread: "anti spyware" popups & some websites wont load

I am getting Pop-ups for antivirus and Malware removal as well as something about a Forex Club.

Also, many sites aren't loading. Google loads, but I can't search with it. Careerbuilder doesn't load at all. A few other sites I use don't load either, I would have to test which don't.

I have ran AVG and Ad-Aware. Bothe have found stuff and removed them. Ad-Aware has ran a full scan about 3 times, each time finding several things to remove.

HiJackThis Log has been attached.

I ran Combo Fix and realized that I hadn't setup the Recovery Console. I set that up after ComboFIX completed scan.

Hi,

Welcome to Tech Support Forum.

The version of Combofix you are using is old. Please remove the old copy and download the latest copy from here and save it to your desktop.

Double click on ComboFix.exe to run it.

When done, a log will be produced. Please post that log and a new HijackThis log in your next reply.

Do not mouse click on Combofix while it is running. That may cause it to stall.

I have not been able to open many forums and websites that have .php at the end of the link/address. I tried both FireFox and IE on Vista Home x64. I don't think it is an issue with the sites I'm visiting because it is happening to many sites I've tried to load. The weird thing is that sometimes the pages will not load, and the next day it will, then i won't again. I have done several virus and spyware scans and came up with no threats. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Answer:.php websites won't load

Have you tried with the 32 bit IE, the 64 bit IE does have problems with some sites as it is more geared towards security.

Hi everyone,

I've the issue stated in the title. Some websites load and others time out. I've been googling for two days trying all sorts of solutions but none of it helped. Before I just wipe and reinstall Windows I want to try this as a last resort, partly because I'm not even convinced it's actually in the computer itself. Here's what I know so far:

- The problem started at an indefinate time: it's the computer of my parents and they can't tell me more than "it suddenly stopped!"
- The pages that aren't loading don't share any commons grounds: they're news pages, forums, secured websites, a bit of everything.
- Some pages load slowly instead of not at all.
- The computer runs on Windows 7 Home edition and is up to date.
- The computer is wired to a switch which leads into a router, which connects to the modem.
- The problem occurs with Internet Explorer, Google Chrome and Firefox.
- The problem is not affecting any other computers on the same network.
- I can ping some of the "unreachable" websites just fine. Typing in their IP address does not load the page.

I've tried the following things that didn't work:

- Deleting temporary internet files and resetting safety settings to normal.
- Disabling the firewall
- Clearing the DNS cache
- Giving the computer a static IP address
- Changing the DNS server manually (to that of google: 8.8.8.8)
- Uninstalling and reinstalling browsers and related applications like Flash and Java.
- Disabling all startup... Read more

Answer:Some websites don't load

Do the pages that dont load on that computer, load on other devices? It could be server error, or it could be your ISP, somehow throttling your connection to certain sites. You have quite the comprehensive list of things you have already tried.
Im not exactly sure what to suggest for you to do. Good luck.

I seem to be having a problem with certain websites loading. Many websites (Download.com, Slashdot.org, Facebook, to name a few) wont load at all. I have noticed that when they stop loading my browser (IE7) is displaying Waiting for (Insert Web Page Here) next to the load bar. My computer (IBM Laptop running XP SP2) was recently infected with some spyware/viruses i removed with Spyware doctor (With Anti-Virus). My problem seemed to have occured after I had removed the infections and I'm beginning to think mabye something was left behind or altered during the process.

So far I have Cleared all my internet cache files and cookies and whatnot, reset all the settings for IE7, disabled all firewalls (Have none but the windows one) and antivirus/spyware programs. I have also updated everything (Flash, Java, ect.) I can think of.

So please Help me this problem is driving me crazy.

Just earlier today, for some reason, I am unable to get onto some sites because they just won't load at all, the main ones being Wikipedia, other wiki and wikia based sites and just some random sites when searching for stuff on google. They take forever to load and then come up with the message 'oops! Google chrome could not open the site'. Other than that, most sites are working perfectly fine and are running at a normal speed, but some are a bit slow with loading, like IGN, Gamespot and the American site for yahoo answers.

I've tried two different internet browsers (google chrome and internet explorer), but that doesn't work. It DEFINITELY has nothing to do with my computer because I've tried both my computers and they both have the same issue (even my PS3 couldn't load wikipedia). I tried connecting my DS to my internet earlier as well and couldn't connect (kept getting the 62010 error code) the first two times (never happened before).

So I think it must be something to do with my internet connection. I've checked my internet speed and that hasn't changed, it's just some sites refuse to load or take forever to load, very annoying. And I tried loading wikipedia and other sites that wouldn't load on my computer(s) on my phone and they all loaded fine, and since my phone is using the mobile internet, there must be something wrong with my router/internet connection.

The only thing I can think of is that my br... Read more

I started having a problem yesterday on all of my computers (desktop and two laptops). Some websites, such as Google, Yahoo, and Facebook, will load but almost everything else will not load. I'll get the "Problem loading page" message in any browser (Firefox, IE, Chrome). Luckily, I am able to access a few computer help forums like this one and found people with similar problems. As had been recommended in those threads I tried downloading various programs for removing adware/spyware/viruses and cleaning the registry. I tried Adwcleaner, MalwareBytes, SuperAntiSpyware, CCleaner, and my AVG antivirus. A few threats showed up on each, but none of them appeared to be serious threats, and removing them did nothing to solve the problem. If this is relevant, all of my computers run some form of windows (Vista, 7, and 8). I just had my modem replaced a few months ago, and I don't know how that would stop only certain websites from functioning. Any help would be greatly appreciated. This would confirm that it's with your ISP server connections problems on sites being block or loaded. Have you called them on the issue? See also the link below on how to ping websites not loading.

Not sure what is wrong. I have so many problems with sites not wanting to load at all or sometimes when they load, like Kookeys website is one I'm having alot of problems with, it has like a plain dark blue section in the middle of the screen. The url for the site is www.kookeys.comSometimes I get as far as a page that just keeps saying Loading...This may take a few moments-- but it will be worth the wait!I tried to contact the people at the site and I don't think they even read my email because of the response I got back. I think they just sent out one of those form letters that they send to anyone who writes. I've tried so many things like clearing the cache, cookies, all that stuff.

Hi there,

I came across this forum simply by searching google and finding another thread where someone had a similar problem (http://forums.majorgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=136340). Anyway, certain websites simply won't load on my computer - this includes Facebook, the "sell" pages of ebay, windows updates and aol.co.uk.

I only recently set up new broadband after moving house, from TalkTalk. Although my computer is c. 6 years old, on my old broadband before moving all sites worked fine. When I set TalkTalk up, attempted installation of their anti-virus software made my computer cycle on restart (restarting again every time the desktop appeared). It wouldn't even start on Safe Mode, and in the end the only thing I could do was System Recovery. After this, installing broadband went fine, and I didn't attempt to use their anti-virus software again. However, the websites listed above have never worked on my connection, although otherwise the connection is fine. I have checked the following:

Checked Java is up to date
Tried disabling all firewall and antivirus software - still wouldn't load
Tried using different browsers (IE and Firefox)
Restarting modem, restarting computer etc.
Cleared cache, cookies etc

I then went through all the basic maintenance tasks on this forum, before following the malware guide on the thread listed above. I have attached my logs for Counterspy, Runkeys, Shownew and HijackThis. However, I couldn't get Bi... Read more

Hi,

I bought a Sony Vaio netbook in November 2010 and to start with it allowed me access to hotmail, my work email, and university email accounts. Now however, none of these websites will load for me to access any of my emails. The internet progress bar says 'done' but the pages always remain blank.

I can't load any videos on youtube either.

I've had a look around up here and can't really find anything useful.

Please help as I'm at a loss as to what to do. I'm not that much of an advanced user. I'm really just an average computer user.

I'd be grateful for any advice you can give me.

I am using Windows 8 64-bit and I am having an issue loading certain websites. Twitter and Facebook are the main two. I have tried Chrome, Firefox, IE, Chrome portable, Firefox portable and qupzilla portable. I tried using https as well. http://en-gb.facebook.com loads but once I enter my login details it just comes up with "problem loading page" again. I have run Malwarebytes and SUPERantispyware I have cleared cache's etc and nothing seems to be helping. Any help would be greatly appreciated as I'm almost at my wits end with it.
I should add I've reset my router, restored factory settings but they seem to work on other devices (android phone, old laptop etc).

Hi,

I have a PC on windows XP Professional and I have been having trouble downloading some websites on both firefox and IE. Others work fine, but facebook and amazon and yahoo answers won't load. There might be other websites that I can't load either, but these are the ones that I know about. Basically, I can go onto the facebook login page by googling facebook. I can type in my e-mail adress and password and try to log in, but it gets stuck. The status bar says: Waiting for static.ak.facebook.com

With amazon, it gets stuck on "Wiating for g1-ec2.images-amazon.com".

I think I've done some basic things like clearing cache, etc. I have also uninstalled both firefox and IE and re-installed them, but to no avail.

I read your post about running HijackThis and have done that and I have attached my log. I hope I did it all correctly!

Any help would be really appreciated!

Answer:Some websites won't load - HJK log

Welcome to Major Geeks!

Problems like you are mentioning are frequently not related to malware. It is to random to be malware. However by just looking at a HijackThis log we cannot tell whether you are free from malware or not since HijackThis logs by themselves do not provide an adequate picture of your PC's malware status. If you want to check your PC for malware you need to run the steps further down after the ===== bar.

You may want to try a couple other simple things first like these:

power cycle your DSL or cable mode
power cycle your router
I have even seen cases where firmware updates to a router were necessary to fix problems like this but this is less likely
Also try this, Go to Start > Run and type in cmd

Click OK.
This will open a command prompt.
Type or copy and paste the following line in the command window:
ipconfig /flushdns
Hit Enter
Exit the command window
Also download HostsXpert and then follow the below steps.

Unzip HostsXpert.zip
[*]It will create a folder named HostsXpert in whatever folder you extract it to.
[*]Run HostsXpert.exe, click Restore Microsoft's Hosts File and then click OK.
[*]Click the X to exit the program

Answer:some websites will not load

I do not know this product, but if they just included a firewall and did not disable the windows firewall, there may be a conflict. After that, go to their website since this is directly related to their product. They probably have a support site with FAQ's, common fixes, an email or chat tech, and possibly a forum dedicated to their product. They know their product best and others likely will have the same problem. You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.

Hey guys,
I have a really nasty problem which i really have no idea how to fix. When I start my computer (which is running win 8), yahoo messenger won't sign in, and certain websites won't load for me for about 10-15 minutes. So it's just for certain websites, and the yahoo messenger client. Skype and 90% of the websites load with no problems whatsoever. And it only happens after i turn on my machine, or after a restart. The problem persists no matter what browsers i use. When i ping those websites, I get replies from them, everything looks just fine, but they just won't load. After 10-15 minutes, they just fire up, all at once and i get no problems whatsoever. It's not a problem with the internet connection, as I got another windows running machine, an iPad, and my gf's Mac, and none of them are experiencing this issue. Plus, it also happens when i'm using any other network from a different location.
Any ideas why this crap is happening to me?

Update: i have flushed my dns, and have run antivirus solutions like dr. web, combofix and malwarebyes anti-malware, and still no joy. My windows updates are up to date...
Do you need any other info for a diagnostic?

Hello, I seem to be having problems with either my internet connection or software on my computer, hopefully someone out there can help me figure out what the problem is.

I recently just purchased a sager notebook, and by recent I mean I just got this sucker 3 days ago. Since then, I have been unable to access a handful of websites unless I use a proxy to tunnel them. Even then I am unable to download several files from said sites because they simply will not load.

I first noticed this when I tried to access Firefox.com. Having used Mozilla on my previous computer, I decided to switch over to it again on my new one. At least I thought I was going to. The website simply will not load, and continuously times out. When I attempt to diagnose the problem, I receive a message stating "Your computer appears to be correctly configured but the device or resource is not responding."

I immediately assumed it was Internet Explorer, my current browser at the time, was restricting me from accessing the site. I disabled my firewall and played around with my privacy settings, but to no avail it remained unreachable. So, I searched and searched and found a Developer Preview version of Mozilla, and downloaded it hoping the problem would not persist. To my surprise, I was still unable to access the website even with a seperate browser.

So I unistalled the Mozilla crap and returned to using Internet Explorer, albeit begrudgingly, until I could fix the problem.

It wasn't long ... Read more

So out of nowhere I have stumbled across this problem...not being able to access a few random websites. I have used Google Chrome, Firefox, and IE...they all do the same thing. I have scanned for viruses, flushed dns, deleted temp files, tried the WinSock fix and nothing has helped in the least. I have also tried power cycling my modem and router. Even on my Zune HD the web browser cannot load these websites which leads me to believe it has to do with my network and not my computer. The websites that do work work just fine with no hiccups. Then I try to go to a website (http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/ for example) and it will just sit there and load. If I am lucky it might load a broken webpage with some text, but this happens rarely. There is no error message it just loads with no progress and says "Waiting for forums.steampower.com...". This problem just started last night and I had never seen anything like this before.

Is there any guidance someone could provide?

OK so I come back to my computer tonight and it's like this never happened. Everything seemed to sort itself out! Lucky me....lock if needed.

This problem started suddenly a day or two ago after about a month of using a new Win 8.1 computer.
Most websites won't load: spin for awhile and then give "The connection has timed out" message. Some websites load quickly and easily, though: search engines (Google, ixquick, Yahoo, Wikipedia), my Verizon Yahoo webmail.

Oddly, GoogleMaps won't load from a search engine or from the address bar, but if I go to Google.com and use the Google Apps icon to go to maps, it loads instantly.

Relevant facts:

Win 8.1 on an Asus desktop PC. Automatic update is on.

Using Firefox 40.0.3, fully updated (but Internet Explorer has the same problem behavior)
Home wireless network (my Android tablet does NOT show the same behavior; can connect fine through same wireless connection) No other devices are using the network.

Computer came with free trial of McAfee security. Using that, including McAfee Personal Firewall. No other virus/firewall/security/spam blocker software is active.
I did a search on this problem and all the results I get date back to 2012-13. Then, no one had any solutions. I'm hoping that since then, this problem has been identified and solved!

Any suggestions appreciated. It's driving me nuts!

Dale

I am using Windows XP Professional on a Dell Dimension 8100 Desktop PC. I am having trouble getting a couple of websites to load. I used to use these sites all the time, then, one day, they stopped working; I could no longer visit them. It would say, "Page Cannot Be Displayed". So far I have found only 2 websites that it does this on. On babycenter.com & gamefaqs.com. They were fine one day, and then, nothing. Can you help me?

For a long time I've tolerated this problem. Basically, an assortment of websites have trouble loading. Some times they will take a couple refreshes to load, sometimes they will load in HTML after a long time, and some don't load at all. Sometimes a website will work fine, but then not load the next day. It's starting to really piss me off, especially since it affects such websites as:
- SoundCloud
- Twitch.tv
- Justin.tv
- The Escapist
- Facebook (occasionally)
- Many more!
As far as I can tell, this all started a few months ago. My internet spontaneously stopped working. I called my ISP (TelstraClear NZ), and the operator did some troubleshooting. Eventually the problem just seemed to fix itself after I unplugged and replugged my modem; I guess it reset my connection. But ever since then, I've had this problem.
I have a SURFBoard modem and a Netgear wireless router.
The things I've done to try fix are:
- Changing my DNS servers - many times
- Using a different OS/computer
- Using a different browser
- Pinging the servers of stuck websites. Often I can't reach them with a ping
- Turning off/unplugging my modem and router
- Plugging my modem directly into the computer
I'm at my wit's end as to what the problem is. Everything i can see suggests that this is a DNS problem - the seemingly arbitrary times websites won't work, my inability to ping them, the random assortment of affected websites. The only other thing that would make sense ... Read more

Answer:Certain websites don't load

Diagnose the problem with the ISP modem only being used. It might be a hardware or connection problem from your provider. Try ipconfig/flushdns on command prompt.

So I have a bit of a hobby I guess you could call it. I do little graphics for people online for roleplaying style sites (no nothing adult lol). But the graphics I make do require me to venture out to find websites with a large collection of photos of the person or people the requester is using for their character. Normally this just results in me finding and using fan sites.

Where the problem is happening is that certain sites just won't load (even though they once did months ago). At first I thought it was just my old and dying computer that was like four years old. But I'm now using a brand new custom built (and expensive) system but the problem still remains. I have done a few tests, even grabbed some suggestions from this site in fact. But nothing seems to be working. When I did a troubleshoot on my connection and then insert the sites I was trying to access it came back saying my network was fine but the site was not responding. Is there anything I can do to fix this?

Also, friends of mine have been able to load these sites just fine and just like I stated back a few months ago I too could access them.

Answer:Certain Websites Won't Load

Welcome to Seven Forums KamiCDN. Can you share some sites you are having problems with? What browser are you using, and do you have more than one browser that exhibits this problem? Try accessing one of the sites through a web based proxy, and see if it displays normally that way.

Welcome to Major Geeks!

Please read ALL of this message including the notes before doing anything.

READ & RUN ME FIRST. Malware Removal Guide

and attach the requested logs when you finish these instructions.

**** If something does not run, write down the info to explain to us later but keep on going. ****
Do not assume that because one step does not work that they all will not. MGtools will frequently run even when all other tools will not.

After completing the READ & RUN ME and attaching your logs, make sure that you tell us what problems still remain ( if any still do )!
Helpful Notes:

If you run into problems trying to run the READ & RUN ME or any of the scans in normal boot mode, you can run the steps in safe boot mode but make sure you tell us what you did later when you post logs. See the below if you do not know how to boot in safe mode:

Starting your computer in Safe mode

If you have problems downloading on the problem PC, download the tools and the manual updates for SUPERAntiSpyware and Malwarebytes ( links are given in the READ & RUN ME) onto another PC and then burn to a CD. Then copy them to the problem PC. You will have to skip getting updates if (and only if) your internet connection does not work. Hey guys. I have had my new computer for 2 weeks and already have run into a problem. Certain websites all of a sudden will not load in any browser. Some websites work fine, and my computer still seems to be very fast, however other sites will not load. Also certain photos in facebook and other sites will not load. I have no antivirus program or anything like that, and am not very tech savvy so I could use some help. Need to get this fixed ASAP as I work full time on my comp.

My problem started with trying to ftp files to my website server. I could upload .html files but not the .jpg ones. I used two different ftp programs.
I tried using my server control panel option only to discover I couldn't load the page. I can't load either of my websites: www.ethicaldogbreeding.com or www.ironwoodkennel.com Yet, I can surf all other sites on the net.

I rebooted, cleared my history, cookies, temp files... I ran Avast antivirus program.
Suspected perhaps firewall issue. Windows firewall is Off. Turned off Avast. Nothing. Complete uninstall of Avast. Nothing.
Bare bones one program at a time and nothing.

Contacted the host server tech support. Weren't able to help.

Friends can load the sites. And I can even load the sites only if I use the proxy site atunnel.com
It's a problem definately on my end.

I contacted my isp to see if my IP address was blocked. No answer. It's been 2 days and I'm totally frustrated.
Do any of you have any ideas of what I may be able to try?

Thank you for your time,
Janet

Yesterday I ran a virus scan and deleted several viruses. After I did that, i noticed that my internet was running slower than normal. I figured i would wait until today to see if it would work better...it didn't. In fact, it got worse. Now websites like facebook and ebay take forever to load, and when they finally load, they load incorrectly. Today I ran more virus scans but they found nothing. I tried a system restore but that didn't work either. I also tried other browsers, but they all had the same problem.

I also tried booting up in safe mode and everything worked when i did that. I've seen other people with this same problem but all of the solutions that they were given didn't work.

Can anyone help me with this problem?

For about 2 months now, my computer will enter a phase where sometimes it will work and sometimes it refuses to load any website, will then work properly, and will then refuse to load websites again. The problem persists for several days, sometimes beyond a week, then disappears for a while before coming back

I've tried using different browsers, updating my browsers, fixing the browser settings as each one suggests, updating Windows, and restarting the computer. The last time this happened, updating Windows fixed it. Now it's returned.

This is the error message I get when it refuses to load a site on Google Chrome:

This webpage is not available

The connection to ***whatever website URL I'm on*** was interrupted.

Here are some suggestions:
Reload this webpage later.
Check your Internet connection. Restart any router, modem, or other network devices you may be using.
Add Google Chrome as a permitted program in your firewall's or antivirus software's settings. If it is already a permitted program, try deleting it from the list of permitted programs and adding it again.
If you use a proxy server, check your proxy settings or contact your network administrator to make sure the proxy server is working. If you don't believe you should be using a proxy server, adjust your proxy settings: Go to the wrench menu > Options > Under the Hood > Change proxy settings... > LAN Settings and deselect the "Use a proxy server for your LAN"... Hello. I'm having this problem: some websites won't load under certain conditions, no matter what browser I use (chrome, firefox and IE8). When I try to right click a link and press 'open in a new tab' it will most porbably not work. It gives me this error:

Serverul nu a fost găsit (The Server could not be found)

Firefox nu găsește serverul www.wowcooc.com. (FF can't find the server <server>)

Also most of the websites are loading really SLOW!

Yea anyways I don't know anything about javascripts or hosts files, just please tell me how a hosts file should look and what do you think the problem is. Thank you in advance.

I was hoping I wouldn't have to post on the forum (I hope I chose the right category to post it in) for advice but after reading endless threads all over the net I am still left with a problem I can't seem to figure out.
Basically, there are 3 websites (that I know of) that won't load on my laptop at home. Google.com, Facebook.com and Amazon.com.
I've tried to disconnect my WiFi and turn my phone into a hotspot but they still won't load. They all work on my phone, both on the WiFi and the mobile network. They also work on other PC's
I use Firefox, but I have tried Internet Explorer, Chrome, Safari and Opera and none of them can open these sites.
A few of the advices I've read and tried are:
Replacing 'http' with 'https'. Did nothing.
Flushing by opening a command box and writing 'flushdns'. I did it correctly and it did not work.
I have my computer set up with a login password (the reason I post this is because I read somewhere that setting a login password might help). This is how desperate I am.
I haven't done a System Restore because the dates offered aren't after this started to happen, which is over a month ago.
I'm from Iceland and for some reason google.is does work.
I have a year old Acer with a Windows 7 64 bit OS.
Is there anybody out there that has the slightest idea of what is causing this?
Many thanks in advance.

Suspect your hosts file is contaminated
get a command prompt

cd \windows\system32\drivers\etc
look for each domain name in the hosts (should not be present)
(If you see something like 127.0.0.1 ***.google.com, then you can't get to google.com). Here's the test sequence:

find /I "amazon" .\hosts
find /I "facebook" .\hosts
find /I "google" .\hosts
Here's my content for each (notice while I have some hits, none are the basic domains (eg google.com, facebook.com and amazon.com are all missing. Entries shown stop advers from being displayed)

For over the past month I have two websites that I know of that will not load. Both of the sites are active and other people on other computers can access them. The sites were working for me previously. I have tried to load them on IE, Firefox & Chrome so I am not sure that it is the these services specifically but some data, download or update to my computer that is blocking the sites. I am usuaully using Windows XP.

I have trouble shooted with the HP folks two different times and nothing we tried worked. I also troubleshooted with other tech forum folks who were friendly and nice but nothing they suggested has worked yet. This seems to be a mystery diagnosis. Anyone with any insight to this type of problem please reply. Diva_Girl

Answer:Certain Websites Do Not Load??

If those websites are working with other browser then something is blocking it from your IE, try checking the add-ons, security software like antivirus program, optimize your browser like delete the cookies, temp files, history and restore to default the security settings and default settings.
