MBAM outgoing block; Any program besides TcpView to find originating program on computer?

Question: MBAM outgoing block; Any program besides TcpView to find originating program on computer?

Good morning, On the very infrequent occasion when MBAM Pro happens to display an OUTGOING block message, I will try and ascertain which program on my computer is making the call using the TcpView program. Unfortunately, it seems I can never get TcpView going fast enough to catch the program responsible. (Being I use an XP Pro machine, the block message only displays the IP address).Question: Is there some other method I can use to see which application on my machine is making these infrequent outgoing calls? (HpHosts shows the IP address to be malicious and located in Germany). Thanks for any info.

Preferred Solution: MBAM outgoing block; Any program besides TcpView to find originating program on computer?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: MBAM outgoing block; Any program besides TcpView to find originating program on computer?

Yes, use procmon. Start procmon before you get the warning, and filter on "Operation is TCP Connect".

Good evening everyone, I have experienced a few occasions over the past 3 days where MBAM Pro will display an OUTGOING block alert while viewing particular posts in an AV forum. (It does not display this alert on every topic post, just certain ones). The IP being shown is: 87.118.92.88. When checking the hosts-file(dot)net site, the RIPE database info shows the address is in Germany, but there doesn't appear to be any known malicious activity associated with this IP.As I understand it, when MBAM generates an OUTGOING block, it means some program on my computer is attempting to access the particular IP address. My question: Why would this be occuring only when I'm viewing certain posts in the aforementioned forum? Since there is no way for me to determine which program on my machine is attempting to access this supposedly malicious site...this is really puzzling to me. (And, yes...I have tried using TcpView, but it's a waste of time and shows nothing). All AV, MBAM, & SAS scans are clean.Any thoughts or ideas on the reason for this activity would be appreciated.Regards,

Answer:MBAM shows OUTGOING block when viewing a post on an AV forum site??

I've had the same thing happen here when people have added links, signature blocks, or images in a forum posts, profiles and post signatures that MBAM has decided is risky. Doesn't happen here very often, but it has a couple of times to me. It's all in how the link, or image is rendered on the forum.

Thats one explanation I can give. Maybe someone else has more information on other methods.

Hello,

I originally received a message from avast telling me I had a trojan called wr-1-77[1].exe. The full title was \content.IE5\31Q3SELJ\wr-1-77[1].exe\[UPX]

I conducted several scans with avast, AVG, and ad-aware and removed all files they suggested. However, the problem did not go away. I consulted several threads related to wr-1-77.exe and ended up scanning my system with regrun. While frustrated and confused, I may have hit the button to remove file too many times. My computer had some problems after that, and I system restored to a time before I ran regrun, although some problems still persist (i.e., not linking Microsoft Office files to the program, and forcing me to manually choose what program I want to open Word, Excel, and PPT files).

Below is the log from Hijack This, and I have attached the extra.txt
I hope I did everything correctly and am not wasting your time on this part.

I've searched all over the internet for a program that can block another program from running. I've been looking for one so I can block FireFox and MSN from running while I'm playing games. It's really annoying when I'm rendering a map in SimCity4 and MSN decides to log in, or a pop-up comes up in the middle of rendering. If you play SimCity4, then you know why I'm so annoyed about it.

I've tried WinTasks 5, but it only blocks the program if a user initiates program. Because a pop-up isn't intiated by a user, WinTasks does not block it.

Does anyone else know of a program that will completely block Firefox and MSN, but also have the option of un-blocking them after I'm done playing a game?

PS: I know I really should find a way to get rid of the pop-ups, but all my Anti-Virus/Spam/Malware/Adware programs freeze up when it tries to fix all the infected fiiles.

Hi guys, I didn't know weather to put this under harddrive problems or here. Mod can move this if they think it's harddrive issue.

So for like one or two months now, I've been trying to google my problem but haven't gotten any luck.

The issue here is all my programs would freeze and I was like wth is going on? So after it happened a couple of times, I finally figured out what was going on.

The system was using cpu power ranging from 20 to 50 percent and my ram was using roughly 20 to 32 percent. The weird thing about this is my computer cpu usually is around 2-5 percent and ram is around 5-12 percent when doing normal day activities.

So I have no idea what is going on at all. I have a vortex 120 gb and I have it updated to the latest software.

My hypothesis is that there is a system defragging working in the background because I see my hard drive space going up and down. It'll go down 20gb and go back up. Sometimes goes down a lot sometimes not that much.

I have three programs and I've tried closing all three.

Bitdefender-no auto defrag
Iobit advance system care- I turned auto defrag off but even it the settings it's already checkmark not to defrag ssd
tuneuputilites- turned off auto defrag also and same thing as earlier, there's already a checkmark to not defrag ssd
edit(forgot to mention that I turned system auto defrag off also)
I ran antivirus scan and malware scan already with no luck.

So here's where the big mystery comes into play. Even though there ... Read more

Answer:Computer using ram and cpu but can't find what program is doing it

Hello vnrock and welcome to Seven Fourms.

I'd recommend using a free utility called Process Explorer. As the name implies, you can see what process(es) are open or loaded as well as the names of their owning accounts. It's a much more powerful version of task manager. You don't even have to install this program. There's a link at the bottom of the article to run the program from your browser. Once you know what's running it can help you determine if it's something you need to get rid of (like malware) or something that can be disabled until you actually need it.

Some folks prefer another free product called Process Hacker. It has all the functionality offered by Process Explorer, plus more advanced features.

Hi, most times when I connect to the internet, ie. open the web browser after connecting to the internet some program on my computer downloads content from the web. I know this because in a short space of time about 100mb of content is downloaded when I am not accessing content heavy sites. At other times when accessing the same sites/content I only download 7-8mb of data so it is not happening each time I access the internet and only happens when I open the web browser.I would like to know how, on my computer which is running Windows XP, I can check to see what programs are accessing what sites and downloading information and where the data is being stored on my computer.I have turned off automatic updates on every program including my virus software. Can you help?

Answer:how to find out what program on my computer i

Not sure if this is what you are looking for...Microsoft's netstat -bo, run fron the command prompt, can show you what executable is creating a connection and listening port. It can be used to see malware. There is also a program called: TCPView:http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/...~~~~Retired - Doin' Dis, Dat, and slapping malware.

Hi
i read some tutorial
and i make firewall rule for the program to avoid to connect to the net

it was and it's a test to learn how the w7 firewall work

well i do this rule, and reboot the pc

well i run this program (it has a update check on , i can disable) but again it was a test

i run the program and let it to check for update , and it is able to connect to the net despite the firewall rule

i can post some screenshots

in poor words , can i avoid a program to connect to the net ?
can i block this program for incoming and outbound connections?

thanks

Answer:stop a program outgoing and ingoing,how can i do?

Are you on a public network or in a private network? Have you checked that the program was disallowed to connect to your private/public network? Be sure that, when creating firewall rules, the program should not be allowed to make incoming and outgoing connections on public and private networks.

I recently caught a virus and had to scan it with Malwarebyte Antimalware. I found the viruses and deleted them, but I wanted to make sure so I scanned my computer again with this website's Panda Active Scan. It said I found 1 infected file and a suspicious file. The infected file was w32/boface.al.worm and the file is under c:\\windows\system32\config\system profile\local settings\temporary internet files\content.IES\kpe3ctmv\test1[1].exe. The problem is my virus scanners are not finding anything wrong with my computer. Everything is clean according to Malwarebyte and Dr.Webcureit. I also have McAfree system on my computer that doesnt find anything.

Hi there,

I recently left for a few days and came back to see my mom, and while the issue with my aunt was resolved my mom's computer also had/may still have some malware bc my Aunt sometimes also uses it.

Mom does have Bitdefender Total Security (2015 still) as a paid anti virus but no one program gets everything (especially when you download a ton of stuff... ::cough cough::... auntie... mooom)

She does have Win 10 which seems basically the same but I am not very familiar.

I did run through a few beginning clean steps from a previous clean but didn't want to take it too far,

Could a Moderator please help me check it over, it's much appreciated.

So far have done
ADWcleaner, (cleaned)  Then CCleaner, cleaned results (didnt mess with registry) MBAM cleaned,  JRT cleaned, have yet to run ESET.

Will post logs below as requested and/or re run them or other programs as needed

the other thing, was that I wanted to check out the free trial for MBAM (website protection included) has also been showing these warnings:

My Windows 7 laptop crashed so I took it to a local computer shop. They transferred all my data to an external drive which I loaded onto the new Windows 8 laptop I bought but when I try to open many of the old files that I have used for years like my address list I can't get them open in anything I can understand. Is there anyway to find a program or a way to convert them to something that can be read by Microsoft Office or something I might normally get on a new computer purchase these days?

I have seen this around and i heard it has a tiny footprint , i'm just curious as to how many hear have this on their system and if they think it's worth it.

I have Kaspersky AV and run Mbam to compliment it and i have no issues , zero day attacks make me a little nervous though since they are brand new and many are not in AV databases yet.

Opinions please

Thanks guys/gals

Answer:Opinions on Mbam's Anti Exploit program.

I've been using the free version (is there a paid version?) since last June without incident. According to the logs, it has not blocked anything, which is fine.

Uses about 40 megs of RAM on my system.

Can't say it's ever going to save your bacon, but it appears to be unobtrusive and causes no problems. Just an icon running in the System Tray.

Question: To block a program

Hello everybody..

I live at a college where I'm the administrator on our computer in the common room. The computer is only meant to play music when we have parties and such, so I have made a normal account, besides the administrator account, that people can use. I have blocked all programs except the music program. I wondered if it is possible to block the Realtek program in a way so people can't use it/screw the settings up but so it will still be able to run at startup?

Does anybody know that?

Answer:To block a program

Try this

Right click on the program go to properties and set the security settings the way you like. Give specific permission to the users of choice.

Question: Block a program

As a Mac OSX user I am trying to configure Vista Business and coming up against an apparent lack of functionality with regard to configuring user accounts.

I say 'apparent' cos frankly I'm new to Vista so I'm not sure. Basically I have an admin user account and a standard user account. I wish to block certain programs (such as IE) on the standard user account.

I've spent two hours reading help files, asking questions online and it does not appear as though this is possible.

Can somebody please prove me wrong?

Thanks

 Hi guys,
This may seem like a stupid question, but if I downloaded MBAM, Superspywareanti-spyware,and TDK rootkiller,  would those free programs normally be sufficient protection as long as I scan manually everyday or even more often?
I am still considering  getting AVAST but just wondered.

Answer:Using mbam,sperspyware, adkiller without anti-virus program?

Anti-virus and Anti-spyware (anti-malware) programs each perform different tasks as it relates to computer security and malware detection. Essentially, they look for and remove different types of malicious threats. In simplistic terms, an anti-virus program will focus on viruses, worms and Trojans while an anti-spyware program tends to focus more on spyware, adware and PUPS (potentially unwanted programs)?. However, there can be some overlap in functionality and detection features depending on the program's scanning engine, how the vendor defines a specific threat and what Naming Standards are used. Some vendors also add a modifier or additional information after the name that further describes what type of malware it is.Why should you use both Anti Virus and Anti Spyware Software?Antivirus and Antispyware Software: What's The Difference?Differences Between Antivirus & Anti-SpywareWhat Is the Difference Between Antivirus & Antispyware?

Im new to software firewalls and have never had a need for one until recently for this reason. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Answer:Need Firewall to Block Program

I know their are a few that can do this, I think Zonealarm was one of them. The Windows Firewall thats included with SP2 is "supposed" to do this, but from what I have seen, it doesn't work.

Hi there, a friend reccomended this site to me. I have had this thing for a while but it seems to "hibernate" so to speak. It's spyware possibly. I am usually pretty good at getting rid of infections, so I suspect this one may be difficult. I have never asked for help on a forum before so let me know if im doing anything wrong.Spybot is catching it trying to alter the startup and registry files, and immediately after this happens, Malwarebytes will pop up saying it has blocked two outgoing requests to ip's.I have run every security program I can think of, Spybot S&D, nothing, Malwarebytes, nothing, Lavasoft Ad-aware, nothing, Windows Security Essentials nothing (and useless....I have never had it warn me of anything! I uninstalled it.) YEsterday I ran Combofix (before coming here) and today after reading a thread here, GMER. I was surfing the net, and Norton popped up a program control window telling me that "pndsregs.exe is attempting to connect to a DNS server." It recommended blocking on all ports. I hit OK. Three seconds later the same message popped up. After blocking the same thing several times, I manually configured the blocking rule. It still pops up every few seconds asking me to block the program.

I asked a friend at school about it, and he said to google the application. I typed it in and found a site similar to this one, and they were telling someone to locate and delete "C:\windows\system32\pndsregs.exe". So I went and searched up the file name. I found the file right away, but when I tried to delete it, I got the following message "cannot delete pndsregs: access is denied make sure the disk is not full or write-protected and that the file is not currntly in use"

How do I delete this pain-in-the-neck program?

Answer:Pesky Program Won't Let Me Delete It Or Block It

I found a good reference to this here, which describes it as being a adware.ZenoSearch. I did a search on that and found an article at Symantic Securities, which if you are not falliliar makes Norton, which has more information, and can be seen here.

Can someone tell me how to find a programs IP address so it cannot "call home". I tried blocking it with a firewall, but it still manages to "call home". For example, when using TuneUP Utilities 2010.

Thanks guys!

Answer:Finding a program's IP address to block

Use a firewall like Comodo or whatever you like. When a program tries to call home, firewall should detect the outbound connection and notify you if you want to allow or block it.

Hi,
my pc have been infected by this false virus Security tool for 2nd time since last year.i already use MBAM and RKILL but cannot run the program because this SC blocking all program in my pc.SC also restart my pc itself.. how could i get this SC remove from my pc?
-THANKS-
####SC=SECURITY TOOL

Answer:Security Tool block PC program

Depending on the malware that is installed on the computer, when you run RKill you may see a message from the malware stating that the program could not be run because it is a virus or is infected. These warnings are just fake alerts by the malware that has hijacked your computer trying to protect itself. Two methods that you can try to get past this and allow RKill to run are:

1. When you receive the warning message, leave the message on the screen and try running RKill again.
2. If that does not work, just keep launching RKill until it catches and stays up long enough to kill the malware

Is there an e-mail program or other utility that will block or filter IP ranges.

Example:

For the last two- to three weeks, I've been reporting spam to SAVVIS.NET. Today, I found that SAVVIS is the number two source of spam in the world. So, it looks like I've been reporting the criminals to the crime boss.

I know SAVVIS' IP range is from 206.154.56.0 to 206.157.255.255. I would like to block/filter all mail containing numbers within that range in any of the headers, the same for MCI, the number-one spam source. It would be nice if I could do it for all of the top ten.

I have installed a Peer to Peer program, is there any to password protect this program so that I am the only on that can see or use it?

Thank You

Answer:Password Block A Program & Files

I think there are a few bits of software that might do what you're asking, but I don't know of any off hand.

If you use different user accounts on that computer, you can use XPs permissions system to deny access to the programs folder to other accounts. If your account is password protected, that will restrict access to the program. It won't help if you leave the computer logged on.

Another alternative would be to use TrueCrypt or a similar piece of software to install the program to an encrypted are, which you can then unlock with a password.

Hi guys,

For some strange reason I can not upload videos on Youtube anymore from my laptop. I used to be able to do it without problems until one day I could not. I don't know why. I don't remember changing any settings on my computer or within the anti virus itself. Maybe I did something by mistake, because otherwise I have no explanation.
What happens is: I select my video from the computer ( the right MB size and format...avi. file) just like before and I click "upload video". the upload initializes and the blue percentage bar goes up fast up to a certain number ( x%) after which it freezes there and the upload wont proceed any further.

I thought that it might be a web site issue,so I tried uploading the same videos from a different computer and I was successful. Obviously there is nothing wrong with my clips nor with my you tube account. It must be something on my laptop. I use Vista Ultimate as operating system and Kaspersky 6.0

I even tried turning off the firewall but I still could not upload.

Can someone help me out on this one? Any ideas as to what might be wrong? I include here a screen shot so you might see what I'm talking about. It froze at 56% and good bye uploading....

Answer:> Does my anti virus program block uploading videos?

Well how about telling us what program you're using. A lot of stuff has Anti-Virus and Firewalls built in together. This type of behavior would not typically happen with an Anti-Virus program, but is totally possible if you're running a firewall you're not familiar with.

Since I installed 8.1, my machine is running hot, 45c, but when I shut down one of the many Service Host:Local Service(s), it drops back down to 20c, where it was always with 8.

I can manually shut it down each time.... but I's like to block it from starting in the first place. Shutting down seems to have no other effect other than dropping the temp.

I need to find a fix.... or go back to 8.

Answer:Program to block specific Service Host from starting...??

Hello (Rickkins). A Service Host is usually activated by a process.
A temperature spike would happen if there were increased CPU activity on a process (or processes).

I would check everything related to CPU utilization percentages in the task manager, particularly Processes and the Details tabs and Background Processes for excessive activity. What does your Performance (tab) CPU utilization score show at idle?

In 8.1, does it ever idle at around 3 percent (zero to 8) or is it running a process that drives the CPU score to a high percentage? Do you get high temperatures at low (or idle) CPU activity levels?

Do you get a temperature spike with a report like this?

can i block lightroom to have access to this folder?

Answer:can i block a program to write access to a specific folder ?

This may sound stupid, but what happens if you just delete that \Video\ folder? Does it get recerated? If not, that may be the easy fix. If not, you can try changing permissions for that one folder.

Hi

As stated in the title my Malwarebytes application is repeatedly blocking foreign outbound IP addresses.  I would take this as some type of malware infection?  However I have not been able to remove/stop it from happening.

I have already followed the steps outlined here: "http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/537233/constant-outgoing-traffice-from-random-ip-addresses-being-sent/" but this did not help.  I did run all of the same logs as requested in the above link so i have them ready to go if anyone is willing to help.

One last thing as you will notice i am running WHS 2003.

Thanks in advance

Answer:MBAM Blocking Outgoing IP's

An outgoing IP alert indicates that a process on your system tried to access a malicious IP and was prevented from loading content onto your system. A browser is not required to be running for an alert to occur...just an active Internet connection with processes running. IP alerts are also triggered by banner ads appearing on websites since in some case these ads are malicious. Notification that an outgoing IP address has been blocked does not necessarily mean the computer is infected. Some legitimate programs on your computer (i.e. iTunes, Instant Messenger client, SKYPE, P2P software, web browsers) have access to the Internet and that action can trigger an IP alert if it tried to access a malicious IP address. No action is required unless you're also experiencing malware symptoms or there are multiple IPs. Your firewall should be able to give you a list of such programs so you can confirm if they are legitimate. As noted above, if you are using peer-to-peer (P2P) file sharing programs (i.e. Limewire, eMule, Kontiki, BitTorrent, uTorrent, BitLord, BitLord, BearShare, Azureus/Vuze, Skype, etc) or an Instant messaging (IM) client, they can trigger Malicious Website Blocking alerts. Why? P2P programs are a security risk which can make your system susceptible to a smörgåsbord of malware infections and remote attacks. Malwarebytes IP Protection will block access to some of the peers a P2P client attempts connection to because they are classified or detected as malicious.... Read more

Hi.
Guys, I have serious problems here.
Windows 10 creators update unistalled my old version of Firebird Program without my consent!
More than that, after the update/upgrade, windows 10 creators is blocking any attempt to reinstall the program!
I have already check te option active in my setting -> Apps -> Allow apps from anywhere is selected.
So, I don't have a Windows Store restriction, but windows is blocking the installation anyway.
I need to bypass it urgently.
How can I do that? Hope you guys can save me.
Thank you.

Answer:Windows 10 Creators uninstall program automatically and block install

It presumably deems it incompatible. Great behaviour, I grant you. I recall this sort of behaviour in build upgrades way back. You do have the right to revert to the previous build within 10 days- the problem would be keeping it. However that's not an ideal solution.

I take it you don't mean this Firebird though:
Firebird download | SourceForge.net

as you are referring to the Store - where I can't see a reference.

Hello: I have been getting popup warnings from Malwarebytes that it has blocked an outgoing connection to a malicious website. Other symptoms are BSOD errors during web browsing, and the system freezes while the hard disk runs for 5 minutes. Back in 2010 I had simular problems and eventually i hired Norton service to work on it. They found and removed a virus in the temporary. Since then it has slowly developed more and more problems until now it is hardly worth useing.

This morning I tried running DDS from multiple sites but it locked up. I was able to run GMER and i have a report from it. Over the last month removed many old programs and files, ran check disk and Defragmented. Also cleaned out inside pc case.

we are using: Avast internet security 7.01426
MalwareBytes 1.60.1.1000

Following much appreciated advice from Crytodan, this topic is reposted to this Group from :BleepingComputer.com> Security> Am I infected? What do I do?with Title : Search URL Redirect and Connections To Mal IP AddressesURL: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic403358.html/page__p__2289259__fromsearch__1#entry2289259--------------------------------------CURRENT SYMPTOMS:Any search engine page opened in any of my three installed broswers will usually, but with exceptions, connect to rogue URLs when one of the listed seach results is clicked. And, usually but not always, a browser will comand continuous use of CPUs up tp 100% whether on line or physically disconnected, and regardless of whether the browser window was blank or had content. When any of my broswers is closed by its [X] close button, the high CPU usage (up to 100%) can continue after the browser window has disappeared for up to more than two minutes. This seems to occure to a greater degree if the PC is disconnected from Internet. Closing browser application with Process Explorer or Task Manager ends high CPU usage immediately.Browsers affected: Internet Explorer (IE v8), FireFox (FF v4) and GoogleChrome (GC v12.0.742.100).MalwareBytes' Anti-Malware (MBAM) blocks intermittent intense bursts of requests to connect to IP addresses it considers to have high risk.Googling one of those IPs lead me to these forums. Hi, Welcome to TSG!!

If you still need help please post a HJT log.

Save HJTInstall.exe to your desktop.
Doubleclick on the HJTInstall.exe icon on your desktop.
By default it will install to C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\HijackThis .
Click on Install.
It will create a HijackThis icon on the desktop.
Once installed, it will launch Hijackthis.
Click on the Do a system scan and save a logfile button. It will scan and the log should open in notepad.
Click on "Edit > Select All" then click on "Edit > Copy" to copy the entire contents of the log.
Come back here to this thread and Paste the log in your next reply.
DO NOT have Hijackthis fix anything yet. Most of what it finds will be harmless or even required.

Also note that I have deleted your second post, let's keep the language clean, ok?

I think I have had this one for a while but it was "hibernating" or whatever. So many things it could be. It has recently shown up as spawning duplicate svchost.exe processes which are definately not mine (there were 8 at one point eating up all of my CPU) I have not had much time to hunt this thing down, although I have suspected for months I had something nasty on here hibernating.

Spybot S&D has been removing spyware, but it is the same spyware each time, like it keeps reinstalling itself. On startup it catches illegal registry write attempts. When this occurs, Malwarebytes catches an outgoing request and blocks it. A full scan using MB and S&D detects nothing even after it catches these breaches.

I found a file in an empty combofix folder called "catchme.sys" and thought "yeah I should use combofix, but what is this, some kind of mocking cracker joke?" so I downloaded combofix, ran it. I had to uninstall Windows Security and Ad-Aware - I don't understand why they run without my permission. I even shut them down in task manager and combofix still bleeped they were going. That is truly annoying, or maybe I was doing something wrong.

Well that's about all I can think of. Here is the Combofix log:

I connect through a dial-up connection. My windows firewall is turned off. I would like to be able to block all outgoing traffic at any given time. In windows 2000 I did this with the command:
route delete 0.0.0.0
After I type this command there is no traffic going out. On my Vista machine however there is a wanarp.sys process that keeps sending outgoing traffic for 20 seconds after i type the above command. I need to make this stop. Any suggestions?

Answer:Block outgoing traffic

I think you can diable all outgoing through windows firewall.

if not there should be an option on your router

I am needing to know how to block outgoing ports. I looked around and found lots of stuff for general port blocking, but nothing for blocking outgoing ports. I am looking to block the following outbound ports:

1000 - 29910 UDP
1433 TCP
139 TCP/UDP

Any help would be great. I am looking to do this to host a game server, but need to block the outgoing ports. The game is competently safe and everything. I can't add it as a program because it uses 3 programs for everything that I need.

I am using KIS - Kaspersky Internet Security 2010 But would be willing to remove it if needed to block outgoing ports.

I can't find Word in the program files and I was advised to look in the C drive under program files, MS office, office 12, etc but there is no Word.exe file in there. I can open Word docs that are saved in my pc and can even create new ones from the saved ones. I have MS Office 2007Please advise.

Answer:Can't find MS Word in the program files and can't find it in

I looks like you have Windows 7. If that's true, click to open your start menu and type "Word" in the search box at the bottom of the start menu. (If you click and start and just start typing, it will do the same thing.)Once it comes up, you can right-hand click on the icon and pin to taskbar or pin to start menu. You can also go to the "sent to" option and select "desktop". It will create a shortcut for you.

There are times when I want to block a program from accessing the internet.
Is there a way of doing this using the firewall that comes with Windows 7?

Answer:How to block outgoing programs using the firewall?

In the Windows firewall you can block outgoing connections by blocking their ports. You just need to either disable the current action for that program or create your own rule.

A cyberstalker is out to find any information on me that he can, so as a precaution, I looked up how to identify potential hacking threats on a computer. I ran tracert from the DOS prompt and noticed a lot of activity on it. I also created a ipconfiginfo.txt file (I read another thread that seemed to be a similar that advised to do so). Can someone please help me to identify if it appears from a more knowledgeable standpoint if my computer is being watched and help me identify which IP addresses to block in Comondo. Thank you so much.

Answer:How to find out who's accessing my computer and block.

Went through this a few years ago. Never did find out if I was being hacked...

I think it's pretty much standard procedure to turn off remote desktop...at least in XP. If you are on Windows 7, you can check around for advice on that. Turning off RD put my mind at ease.

If you want to try to nail down which IPs might be dangerous, you can try ActivePorts or cports. Both are lightweight and easy to use.

Anti-virus softwares use the net alot, since they check net pages, so make sure you have internet browsers closed. Take down the IPs of suspicious connections and Google them to see if you can nail down what they are...keep a log of them or whatever.

If there's a better way, I'd like to know myself...

Is it possible to block temporarily all (outgoing) Internet traffic WITHOUT using the build-in Windows firewall?

I guess there is a simple utility which offers a "traffic OFF" button which obviously cuts all traffic until the user re-pushes him.

Is there such a tool or another simple way for that?

Hello:I need assistance dealing with recent IP blocks by MBAM Pro 1.44.For the past 2 weeks, McAfee had SEVERE issues with DAT file updates for consumers (very long story).During that period, I installed MBAM Pro on my PC for added protection.Multiple quick and deep scans were clean. The first and ONLY indication of any issue was an alert yesterday that IP 69.64.155.13 had been successfully blocked 3 times.I contacted MBAM Forum and they advised that I have my computer "completely checked" (whatever THAT meant?).Overnight, I ran deep scans with all installed security apps (McAfee, Counterspy and MBAM). All were clean and there have been so subsequent attacks.I was advised to install and run HJT and to contact you for assistance.I read the long and (for me, with my limited computer knowledge) complex set of instructions.FWIW, I am a VERY cautious and conservative computer user, have never experienced a malware infection on any system, and have never had to tackle something like this.I didn't make it far through your instructions before a question arose, so please advise as to the following:1) The HJT download site only lists Windows OS up to XP as compatible, so I don't know if I can install it on this Vista box (or on my W7 laptop)?2) Should I install and run any other standalone AV/AM apps, such as SuperAntispyware, WinPatrol, SpywareBlaster or others?3) Is all of this necessary, or am I just being overly paranoid and spooked, after 2 weeks of secuity h&... I run XP pro. When I log on as a user, I get a popup that says Cannot find 'c:\program'. And then the dsl won't connect. I use a router and am connected with SBC yahoo DSL. Anyways, the troubleshooting didn't help at all but then when I unplugged the router and connected directly, the internet finally worked.

First thing I did was look up the problem on google. Oddly, I found someone with the same problem I had. But the forum is very crappy and once I started an account, they wouldn't even let me see the original thread.

Answer:cannot find 'c:\program'

Make sure your router is configured correctly for DSL. I believe it's PPPoE in the Internet Connection Type for DSL. The MAC address has to register with your ISP. Here, SBC can take up to 15 minutes after a router is installed to accept the MAC address. Once set, you should connect.

Hello,

Well, most of you should know who I am by now anyways, I have one question and a concern which has been bugging me for quite a while now.

I cannot find a program that will allow me to view (one option) and/or control (other option), by control and view i mean being able to have the graphical computer screen live on my own computer, w/ one option to just view, and if needed, take control over the other computer. This has to be done so that the computer being viewed has no idea they're being viewed (not a big computer nerd who'll check ports, i'm just talking about a normal user.. )

The final thing, this has to be FREE...

All the programs I've found arnt free and are w/ trial periods.. please help! :P

Answer:Cant find this program.. been looking for a while..

i dont understand what you mean sounds like you want to be able to monitor or remote control another pc silently and in real time if thats the case its treading dangerously on the lines of a virus. there is a program called pro rat which can be used as a virus and can be detected by AV as a virus. i personally wouldnt recomend it but thats all i can think of, you can google pro rat but jsut make sure you know what your doing and read everything

A long time ago I got something called 500,000 Games and since then, I've uninstalled it from Programs and Features. All evidence to the contrary, computers can really only do one thing at a time. OK, a dual core or dual processor machine can do exactly two things at a time, a quad core can do 4, and so on. But a single CPU can do exactly only one thing at a time. It just switches between them all really, really quickly.

So when one program needs all of the CPU's attention, other programs that need the CPU might not get enough time to do their work. That typically results in a very slow system, from a user's perspective.

We can use task manager to figure out who the culprit is, but I very much prefer the free download Process Explorer. Download and run it, and you should see something very much like this:

The default display shows all he tasks running on your computer, in hierarchical order, meaning that if program A was the one that started program B, then program B appears indented beneath program A. That can be helpful for other reasons, but not what we want here.

Click on the column labeled CPU, and Process Explorer will sort the processes by CPU usage. The processes using the most CPU will be listed at the top:

Here you can see that when I took this image my CPU was actually 68% idle; in other words the it was doing nothing at all two thirds of the time. The next highest program on the list was SnagIt, the screen capture program I use, using about 14% of CPU, followed by Windows Explorer, Trillian, and others in decreasing order.

usually i find that for every awesome, expensive, piece of software out there there's usually a perfect and most of the time far superior program to do exactly what i need found on sourceforge but either i'm not using the right words to search or one doesn't exist, which i don't believe because everyone on sourceforge is amazing!!
