Google Chrome not letting us open Bookmarks Manager

Question: Google Chrome not letting us open Bookmarks Manager

Help me make Google Chrome OPEN the Bookmarks Manager.  I have already gone through the menu, Bookmarks, Bookmark manager, but only a blank white page appears.  Nothing else.  The address shown in the browser text bar field is "chrome://bookmarks" .
If the bookmark manager cannot open and show itself, then managing the bookmarks is impossible.  HELP!

Windows 7, Google Chrome  43.0.2357.81 m
I already tried with ABP turned off, and the same problem.

Preferred Solution: Google Chrome not letting us open Bookmarks Manager

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: Google Chrome not letting us open Bookmarks Manager

Note that Google Chrome provides a button next to minimize, maximize and close buttons. This button is used to sign in using the Google account and the browser uses it to manage the bookmarks and other things.
You must sign in using your Google account and then the Bookmark Manager will return to normal.

No tragedy, Im sure you are thinking (!) but all of a sudden I cant open Pinterest from aol using Chrome.  Ive had a lot of problems with my laptop in the last few days, even thinking Avast was part of the problem - never had this happen before.  Ideas?  Thanks as always.  Yes, other sites open - not tried all - am typing it in, not using bookmarks because they have become a problem also.

I was hoping somebody could tell me why the new bookmarks manager in google chrome isn't available in windows xp but it is available in linux zorin 9. When i was on my mom's xp computer the other day i noticed she still had the old classic bookmarks manager but my laptop which is running linux zorin 9 has the new bookmarks manager. Both computers are running the same version of chrome which is 42. I've attached an image of the new bookmarks manager for anybody who hasn't seen it before. Note: the image is not of my computer, i found it with google search.

Additional Details: I did a google search i read there is an extension in the chrome store that gives you this new bookmarks manager but i never installed any extensions besides adblock & avast online security & my mom has no extentions on her machine.

Answer:Chrome Bookmarks Manager Question

FYI, on both my Windows 7 and 8 systems the classic bookmarks manager is still the default.

So did you check to see if there is an extension present on your system? What is the exact version of Chrome you have installed, ie. "Version 42.0.1234.89 m"

Hi TwinHeadedEagle,
I have almost exactly the same problem running on my computer. I have run zoek, malwarebytes, and AdwCleaner and I still have the problem. Rather than create a new post in the forum I have just replied to this post since it seems so similar. I have now run Farbar and have attached the two logs. I also included a pic of my task manager showing the processes that keep loading. Can you help me? Thank you!

My computer was running slow so I went to my task manager and seen a whole bunch of Google Chrome processes running. I was confused at first because I don't even have Google Chrome installed. As I tried to stop the processes one at a time, more only popped up. Then I looked it up on the net, found others yall have helped on this site, and know there's something wrong. If possible, would like to know how and when the malware was installed as I have multiple students that use the pc and this is the first time ever had this happen, would like to know if it was a user doing something wrong by accident or on purpose (is even possible to know, but mainly would like to just get pc fixed!)

I right clicked and Disabled Antivirus AutoDetect (Norton); Downloaded zoek and have result log attached. Required a pc reboot and did that too. Problem is still happening. It also changed my home page to google.com (I changed it back). I also uploaded a picture of my task manager if that helps any.

Thanks!!!

After last nights crash, I have my Bookmarks here on Chrome but not my latest ones. I have a saved backup of those Bookmarks and my question is as follows ...
Can I import from that saved file and if so, will the Bookmarks from that file simply over-write the ones I presently have here and add the new ones to the list here in Chrome.
Or do I have to completely delete my Bookmarks from Chrome and then retrieve them from the saved file.

It sounds like you reinstalled Chrome? It may be that only the icon was missing, but Chrome itself was still installed, and now you have overwritten it. Do a system restore to before this happened:

Ok.....I use to be on Internet Explorer but have now switched to Google Chrome. What I want to know is how or what do I need to do to look at my bookmarks? With IE I just clicked and they dropped down, but with Google Chrome I click and all I get is the option to bookmark something (which is fine), but how do I get to my bookmarks once their saved? And (also), what happens to all my bookmarks on IE, do they automatically transfer over or do I need to transfer them over???

Answer:Google Chrome Bookmarks

You are probably clicking the star, that's only for creating a bookmark. To see your existing bookmarks click the 3 bar Settings menu right next to the star and you will see a menu called Bookmarks. You can also add the Bookmarks menu bar under your address bar from that menu, just click Show Bookmarks Bar. If you haven't already imported your IE bookmarks during the first opening of Chrome then you can also do it under that same menu, choose Import Bookmarks and Settings and follow the wizard.

Answer:google chrome bookmarks

If you hit the spanner button, select Bookmarks & then Bookmark manager.
From this screen select Organise and there's an option to export bookmarks, save the file to a USB stick.
From your new laptop fire up Chrome and Import the file from the Import Bookmarks and Settings under the Bookmarks option

I had all of my bookmarks when I left for work yesterday at 1pm, I put my computer to sleep and left. When I got home at 5pm and opened Chrome, all of my bookmarks were missing. Since then I've noticed I'm missing some of my extensions also. I have tried signing out and signing back in, changing the bookmarks.bak file, logging in on another computer and I've also checked Chrome on my phone which is missing all of bookmarks as well. I have not updated my computer or Chrome. Nothing changed on my computer in the 4 hours I was away. When I got up this morning I did have 1 folder magically appear but it only had 1 bookmark out of many that should've been there.

I installed a codec pack for my comp yesterday and installed a Halli media splitter, while it was installing Windows defender told me there was some harmful software, me naturally thinking it was a false positive allowed the install to continue, now it shows the bookmarks bar when i first activate Google chrome, as well as the next tab which is what it's meant to do normally.
I'd appreciate any ideas, i've scanned with anti virus Avast and Super anti spyware, but it's still there.

Ever since the latest Google Chrome update, whenever I open a new tab, that tab shows a google search bar with an icon display of my bookmarks. Is there a way to turn this off.

Now, I ask you to try before you tell. I have already went into my settings and changed the default pages every place I found, so if this is the option, please try it out and share how you did it, simply changing my default page did not wor when I open a new tab specifically.

Thanks in advance

Answer:Google chrome showing bookmarks........

Ahhhh---bless the auto updates! Go to the little square looking thing in the upper righ hand corner. The little box that has the three horizontal lines. Click on that and go down to, Settings". In settings you will find a place that offers you three start up options. It is labelled, "On startup". Option number three is the one you want. It reads, "Open a specific page or set of pages". Right next to that in blue lettering is a clicky pop that says, "Set pages". Click it and it will bring up a chart of your opening pages for your browser. Simply "X" out the search one and you are finished.

P.S. This is exactly how I did mine.

P.P.S. ****PLEASE FORGIVE ME. I TOTALLY MISUNDERSTOOD YOUR QUESTION. THOUGHT YOU WANTED TO GET RID OF THE EXTRA TAB THAT OPENED WHEN YOU OPENED YOUR BROWSER.

Well... I have a little sister that loved to go on the pc, we have 2 users, one for me and one for the rest of the family. Now and then i forget to log out and the first thing my sister does is delete all my bookmarks, Is there anyway to LOCK the bookmarks so they cant be deleted with a password or similar?

Answer:'Lock' Bookmarks On Google Chrome

You can make the file named bookmarks a read-only file...
"C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\User Data\Default\Bookmarks"
...but if you forget to "unlock it" and you bookmark something, Chrome does not warn you, it just fails to bookmark the site.

Probably a better way would be to put a small batch file in the startup folder for your profile. Have that batch file copy your bookmark file to a place in your documents (or wherever you think would be safe). That way, you would have a backup copy that you could restore.

Code:
xcopy "%USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\User Data\Default\Bookmarks" "%USERPROFILE%\Documents\chrome-bookmark-backups\year_%date:~-4,4%_month_%date:~-7,2%_day_%date:~-10,2%_hour_%time:~-11,2%_minute_%time:~-8,2%\" /v
The code above is simplistic and assumes that the date and time is stored mm/dd/yyyy hh:mm

I've been having problems with GOOGLE CHROME crashing recently on my TOSHIBA (Vista OS) laptop. After the most recent crash, I noticed that all 42 of my Speed Dial icons had disappeared, but at least I was able to put them back one-by-one. Much worse, however, is the fact that all of my helpful CHROME Bookmarks have also disappeared, and I'm concerned that there may not be a way to get them back.

Whenever I noticed my Speed Dials icons gone, I uninstalled and then re-installed GOOGLE CHROME. Is it possible that I would have irretrievably lost my CHROME bookmarks in the process? I hope not! I would greatly appreciate hearing from anyone who knows how I might get my bookmarks back. Thank you.

Is there any way to expand this bar to two rows of bookmarks?

Answer:Google Chrome Browser Bookmarks Bar

Yes, both Chrome and Firefox can do that. Just Google it.Before you do that, you can shorten the names on the bar to just atwo letter names and get a lot more on the bar.  Also, you can make a menu on the bar that opens to a list of bookmarks.Google this:extra bookmarks barYou will find help for both Chrome and Firefox.

I have Windows 7.I have my Google Chrome bookmarks saved in a backup file and I want to import them to a new user on my computer.  However, when I am on my new user in Google Chrome and I select the option "Import bookmarks from html file", I am prompted to browse for the file, select the file, and then click "open".  However, no matter where I click, every folder ends in "no items match your search", meaning I can't find my back up file to open in the browsing window opened by Chrome.  In the browsing window, under file type (next to file name) it says "Firefox Document" and I can't change it.  I can, however, still find the backup file if I just start at My Computer.  Does anyone know why this is happening?

Answer:Can't import bookmarks on Google Chrome?

It is probably because the extension of that file is wrong for some reason. Maybe .htm instead of .html?

1. When I go to the bookmarks manager and try to drag and drop a bookmark I often get the message "Google Chrome Not Responding". Chrome never responds and I have to close the page.

2. I've also been getting "Google Chrome Not Responding" quite frequently in other situations(can't recall exactly what). The only thinkg I can do seems to be to close the page and the program(like in #1).

3. When I click on a bookmark in the bookmarks menu sometimes it opens properly but sometimes the location appears at the bottom of the page and the screen turns light blue. In order to ope the page I have to click the link at the bottom of the page. The desktop appears, hen I click again and the page I was trying to go to finally appears.

4. I am very frequently getting "Display Driver stopped working and has recovered". The screen goes black for a second and then recovers but this can happen several or many times per hour.

Thanks for your help. I hope I posted these on the correct forum.

Answer:Google Chrome problems with bookmarks and more

Hi and yes correct forum area

I would check if you have a newer display/graphics driver available for your PC (do also tell us that PC make and model you have if DELL, HP etc or if a custom build what motherboard make and model you have)?

What is your Windows version (check << there) and is it fully up to date?

If you uninstall Chrome and re-install it do you get the same issues?
What security software do you have installed?
Does Internet Explorer work?

If you boot into safe mode (F8 at boot and choose safe mode with networking) does that work with chrome?

A few days ago I made the mistake of installing "XMarks" bookmark manager on one of the computers on my LAN just to try it out. I use Chrome as mt primary browser, which of course already syncs all my bookmarks across all my computers. What I ended up with within a matter of minutes was a total mess like you would not even believe! I went from several hundred bookmarks in Chrome to many many thousands of bookmarks, folder structure all messed up, etc.
Fortunately, one of my computers (out of about 10) was turned off at the time, and I managed to recover my original set of Chrome bookmarks off of it. I know have this good bookmarks file on a USB stick.
My question: how do I copy the "good" bookmark file to the Google servers such that the servers will then sync the new, good file with all the rest of the computers? Also, how do I force a sync to occur once I have the good bookmark file on the Google Servers?

Thanks in advance for any help!

Hey everyone,

By accident, I was signed into my Gmail account from another computer, and my brother deleted all of my bookmarks, which obviously, affected my bookmarks as well.

I searched the web, and following what they tell me:
C:\Users\NAME\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\User Data\Default, I still can't restore my Bookmarks since my bro had already closed Chrome, which would then save an Backup which is empty of bookmarks.

I was wondering if there is any other way to recover my bookmarks, or are they lost forever?
One idea I was thinking about is using my System Image I created from a few months back. Would this restore my Bookmarks? I am thinking prob. not since Gmail is a cloud storage....

At least it's an new lesson learned....backup EVERYTHING!

Answer:Google Chrome Bookmarks Deleted, How to Recover?!

What does being signed in to gmail have to do with your bookmarks/favorites. It`s pretty hard to go in and delete your bookmarks by ACCIDENT.

Which browser were they deleted from ?

So I just set up a separate User Account (I am using Win7 32/64bit) for my Roommate, and he wants to keep the same bookmarks from Google Chrome as the Main user Account (my account) and I got the Main Bookmark bar to import. But the stuff I had under "Other Bookmarks" I am not having much luck exporting that to an html file that he can then access from the public documents folder that is accessible from both accounts (which is what i did to import the main bookmarks bar for him). So I was hoping my fellow [H] brothers/sisters would know a way to do this without painstakingly writing down what they all were and then going to those sites and bookmarking them lol. I am sure there is a simple way of doing this that I am somehow overlooking (which for someone who owns his own Business Building PC's as well as Modding & Repairing PC's, Game Consoles & Smartphones, not being able to figure this out kinda looks bad, huh!?! lol) anyways any help would be appreciated it.Its late here in Seattle, WA and I am a lil herbalily (no herbalily is not a word, but it is now lol) intoxicated so hopefully someone can help lol

For the last few days when I click on the menu button on the right and go to Bookmarks, I only get the first 10 folders of bookmarks. I can still access all of my bookmarks from the bookmarks bar, but I prefer to use the menu. Please can someone tell me how to get all my bookmarks showing in the menu again?
Thanks,

When you have the sub-menu open with the list of bookmarks, there should be a tiny down-arrow at the bottom.  Click on that to display the rest of your bookmarks.

Hello all,

I recently reformatted my computer (from and to the same OS- Windows 7 HP) and noticed most of my Google Chrome bookmarks are gone. The only ones that synced when I signed in were to bookmarks on my toolbar. All the others ones are not there. I know for a fact that I was always signed into Chrome when I added a new bookmark. However, I never manually synced before the reformat but I didn't think I needed to, I thought Chrome automatically synced but when I signed in after the reformat they weren't there.

I still have access to the "windows.old" folder but I haven't had any luck finding the bookmarks and even if I did find them I don't know how to import them into Chrome. The other threads I've read say to go to "Drive:\Users\USER NAME\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\User Data\Default" but the problem for me is that I don't have the "AppData" folder as an option when I select the "USER NAME" folder.

Any help would be appreciated

Thanks

My husband had to wipe our hard drive earlier this week due to a massive virus. I wasn't worried since everything I use is on an external drive. Except my bookmarks in Chrome, which are central to my business as an author. Hubby did some research and reassured me that I'd be able to log in after we wiped the drive and get my bookmarks back. I wish it was really that easy. We'd done it before about a year or so ago, but I can't remember exactly what that entailed. Now, I'm left without my bookmarks and most of my business contacts because of it.

The crazy part is that the Google Dashboard has all of my bookmarks listed as the correct number under the Chrome Sync section.

It knows how many bookmarks I have! Doesn't that mean they exist somewhere that I can pull them back from?

I don't have a document that I exported before the wipe, although I wish I had known to do that. Didn't have to the last time.

I also can't go searching for the folder since the computer has been wiped.

Any advice as to how I can access and re-instate those 650+ organized bookmarks? I have a hard time believing they are gone forever while they are still showing up as a count on my dashboard.

Hello. I have heard that imported bookmarks from Firefox end up in the Other bookmarks folder. My question is, when you look at your folder named that, do you see first a Mozilla Firefox folder with hardly anything in it except for about 4 things Firefox puts in there automatically for everyone, like, "About Us", and then under that Mozilla Firefox folder, do you see a list of all your bookmarks that used to be in Firefox and were imported to Chrome? In other words, are your imported bookmarks taken from Firefox NOT in the folder called, "Mozilla Firefox" but rather, they are all listed under that folder?

Also, I cannot open Firefox any longer but still managed to successfully import my bookmarks from it, to Google Chrome, however, I just needed to confirm that they never got deleted so I asked this question.

Chrome has a new version of its Bookmarks, and now I cannot find a method of arranging the bookmarks in alphabetical order. Can anyone help?

Answer:Google Chrome New Bookmarks - Arranging in Alphabetical Order

The answer is to disable the new enhanced Bookmarks.
1. In your address bar type: //flags and hit Enter
2. Search for "Enable Enhanced Bookmarks". It's quite a long way down the list.
3. Change the drop down to Disabled
4. Restart Google Chrome
5. Your bookmarks manager should now be the familiar, sortable, draggable version.

Hope this is the right place to post this, new to forums in general.
Using Win 10 Home edition/Google-Chrome/McAfee I occasionally use McAfee LliveSafe security suit Privacy tool to clean search history as well as other traces of cookies etc. from all browsers and PC at one time. However when I reopen Google chrome browser most or all of the bookmarks bar icons are not the original and often completely unrelated. For instance, instead of the purple square w/the white capitol Y for Yahoo mail sign in it has the white rectangle w/the Red capitol M that indicates Gmail. My bookmarks icon for my Electric company's icon is normally a blue star, but it now has the Gmail icon. L-clicking on it anyway usually brings up the proper webpage and usually reverts back to the proper icon/symbol but not always and sometimes the page fails to load "this site can't be reached" sort of thing. I have found most can be restored by right clicking on an Icon and L-clicking on "show apps shortcut" in the drop down menu.
Does anyone have any input on this topic? Or what can I avoid/uncheck in cleaning browser history, cookies, etc. Currently the only thing I don't have the sec. suit clean is "chrome saved passwords" it does clean the Registry, I'm suspecting that might have something to do w/it. Any productive input would be appreciated.

CHROME import/export bookmarks, cant get my HTML saved bookmarks back into Chrome!!!!!

Import/export bookmarks, cant get my HTML saved bookmarks back into Chrome!!!!!

I used to use Internet explorer, then Firefox, and now Chrome as my default browser.

I had to do a updated computer rebuild, and before doing so, i saved my bookmarks as a HTML file, on an external hard drive. After I set up the new computer, and dragged this HTML file of my (over 1200 bookmarks) onto my new desktop.

I went to BOOKMARKS,BOOKMARK MANAGER, THEN "IMPORT FROM ANOTHER BROWSER",abut all the only choices are for, ANOTHER BROWSER, NOT from any file on the computer.

I first tried to import this file into internet Explorer, but that interface seems to also have changed, and it seems whenever I click on the "IE' logo on the task bar, something like YAHOO, or MSN, pops up instead......what happened to the original internet explorer and all of its tools? (YES, I can see the tools or setting, or Internet options on the right of each of these sites, but HOW CAN I GET MY FAV BOOKMARKS HTML FILE BACK INTO CHROME AGAIN???????????? Any Help?

Answer:CHROME import/export bookmarks, cant get my HTML saved bookmarks back

Hi I'm kind of confused,
Chrome is much like but not exactly the same as Google toolbar,
Simply signing in would make Google or Chrome bookmarks available,
That is what Google does,
It stores everything on it's servers,
So the basic question is are you signed into Chrome ?
Cheers.

For a few days now, after getting one of those fake "antivirus" programs my Google Chrome browser is unable to open any pages. I can open them in IE and Firefox, but on those browsers any links I click typically get redirected to random advertisement websites rather than the page I'm trying to reach.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hello,
Chrome browser stores my passwords in the "Password manager". However, some sites ask me annually or half-annually to change the password. But it is not replaced in the "Password Manager", it keeps the old password, and when I try to open that site, the old password is embedded, have to change it manually. Chrome does not open a pop-up window asking if to save the password, as it has one saved.
In the "Password Manager" cannot do any editing.
Answers will be appreciated.
Thanks
Motim

Answer:Password Manager in Google Chrome

I believe you must delete the saved password and then chrome should ask to save the new password the next time you log in.

Or set chrome to never save passwords and use a better password manager like LastPass.

Hi, I just found a neat little feature in Google Chrome and I'd like to share it with others who might not have noticed it.

First you'll click the wrench in the top-right of your browser.

Then navigate to the option 'View Background Pages'

Then in the open window you can manage the processes Chrome is currently using. To get a more detailed look click the 'Stats for nerds' option.

And you should find yourself at a page that looks like this:

Hope this helps!

I saved my Google Chrome Bookmarks on the Desktop about a month ago. Having had to do a system restore from a Backup, my Bookmarks on Chrome are presently out of date.
Is there such a thing as Importing from the file I recently saved and doing that, will it just overwrite my present Bookmarks and add the new ones, or do I have to clear out my Bookmarks that are now on Chrome and then import from that File?

Fix with Farbar Recovery Scan Tool

This fix was created for this user for use on that particular machine.
Running it on another one may cause damage and render the system unstable. Download attached fixlist.txt file and save it to the Desktop:

Both files, FRST and fixlist.txt have to be in the same location or the fix will not work!
Right-click on icon and select Run as Administrator to start the tool.
(XP users click run after receipt of Windows Security Warning - Open File).
Press the Fix button just once and wait.
If for some reason the tool needs a restart, please make sure you let the system restart normally. After that let the tool complete its run.
When finished FRST will generate a log on the Desktop, called Fixlog.txt.

Please attach it to your reply.

I have a Windows 7 Lenovo laptop that is running very slow.  I ran virus scans, including Malwarebytes that returned zero results.  I have noticed in Task Manager that there are several processes running with a description of "Google Chrome".

The exe file is in the \userprofile\appdata\locallow\Sun\ folder. This exe cannot be deleted since there is a lock on it. Even if I kill the processes from Task Manager, they regenerate faster than I can delete.

Would you please help me with removing this virus?  Thank you.

Hi,

I noticed a few days ago that my computer was running slow.  I opened the task manager and noticed that the dllhost.exe*32 was in my Task manager over 20 times.  I ran my antivirus and nothing came up, I have both Malware, and Comodo.  I read through some removal logs and found one that was the same issue as mine basically.  I downloaded the Farber Recovery Scan Tool.  At first, I didn't read ALL the way through it and ended up downloading someone else's fixlist.txt that was part of a reply.  At the time I just figured it was a blanket fix for everyone, didn't realize it was for that specific computer.  So I pressed fix and it seemed to work......temporarily.  I also deleted Chrome but it still pops up in my Task Manager although I don't have the program.

So...now I have read more and am going to do this the right way.  I ran a new scan and am including it in the post.  Hopefully someone can help me fix the problem.  I really appreciate all the help.

I have a HP Pavillion dm4, 64 bit, running Windows 7 Home Premium

Here are my logs:

 FRST.txt   82.95KB
  5 downloads

 Shortcut.txt   81.92KB

Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks so much,

When I restart from Sleep, I have windows open that look like a browser with various ads in them. I looked in my task manager and saw a number of Chrome processes named Wgvsgnxdj.exe *32 that use about 20% of the CPU. When I end the processes, they restart on their own. The processes are all located in the AppData/LocalLow/Adobe/zqjpwqzm folder.

I have attached FRST scan logs.

I had been using AVG & found it adequate. I got this computer in fall 2009 with Windows 7 32-bit on it. Since then, I've been using Microsoft Security Essentials. But it never found anything, until this month.Nov 21, I decided to try AVG again. D/Led the 30 day trial version & ran it. It found 4 Trojans in less than an hour. There was a "buy right now" sales pitch - pushy already; I was suspicious. I don't know its name; it apparently settles into or at least uses a directory in Windows ... C:\\Windows\sysWOW\dllhost.exe is said to be the culprit. MalwareBytes was continuously blocking "ads," I guess they are, generated by dllhost.exe? Try as I may, I've not been able to do anything about it.(Update: I bought & used Malwarebytes in 2014, March thru July I think. It used a lot of CPU while running. Slowed me down. I thoughtlessly deleted it ... at least, I think I did.)The very frequent message that Malwarebytes is blocking outgoing "stuff" must have been generated by the virus itself, as MWB wasn't on here at that time. The native bookmark manager of the Chrome browser is as basic as it gets. All it enables you to do is to search bookmarks, move them to and from folders, and to delete or edit them.

When you compare that to the Firefox bookmarks manager for example, you will notice that it is far superior. From options to sort bookmarks in multiple ways over extensive editing option to the display of additional information about each bookmark in the interface.

Google has released a new Bookmark Manager extension for Chrome and Chromium-based browsers that aims to improve the native bookmark manager.

It replaces the bookmarks manager which you notice when you open the bookmarks in the browser. Instead of displaying folders and links only, colorful tiles and other information are displayed by it by default now.

You find search, edit and import/export options at the top now which is an improvement to the native implementation. The search has been improved by Google as it will include information found on the page itself in the search and not only the bookmark title, snippet and url.

The left displays all folders just like before but with options to display subfolders right away or hide them instead.

The location of each bookmark is highlighted by the tile, and drag & drop operations are supported to move bookmarks around. Tiles seem to be placeholder icons. New bookmarks show a thumbnail image of the site in question instead.

The extension adds a star icon to the toolbar that you ca... Read more

Hello, I've seen a few topics relating to my problem but wasn't sure if the steps are exactly the same for each person or if they are customized from problem to problem.

I'm running windows 7 and as other users have stated, my computer was running slowly, freezing up periodically and minimizing programs I was using. I checked task manager and at that time I saw many dllhost with description COM surrogate running, and trying to end the processes they just kept appearing again. At that time I had AVG as my antivirus and malwarebytes. Only AVG detected the file but it could not delete it. I then uninstalled AVG and changed my antivirus to Bitdefender and that seemed to have stifled the symptoms although I don't believe it ever fixed the problem. My computer was running smoothly for about a week and now I have a filename uirrvmzweu.exe with description google chrome. My computer symptoms are about the same as they were when the dllhost process was running. They both act very similar as far as I can see.

Any help would be much appreciated, thank you.

Could have been a problem for me because I used the corporate msi to install Chrome because I did not really want the program to install to the C: drive (yea, good luck with that one). I could probably write a book about that.

So this is what I did:

1. Uninstalled the 32-bit Chrome.
2. Search the C: drive for any mention of Chrome. May have to make sure hidden files are showing. Found remnants in ProgramData, Program Files (x86), and my Windows 7 x64 user profile. Deleted all.
3. Reboot.
4. Search through the registry for Chrome (complete word only). Deleted all relevant keys (gotta be careful here).
5. Reboot.
6. Went back to the download page for Chrome, chose the Alternate (offline) Google Chrome installer (Windows), selected the Alternate installer for all user accounts link, and under the Download Chrome button selected the 64-bit version (not sure if that is necessary but since I have x64, why not).

64-bit - https://www.google.com/chrome/browser/?platform=win64
32-bit - https://www.google.com/chrome/browser/?platform=win

7. Let the Chrome install, since it is for all users it will install in the Program Files (x86) folder, don't ask me why. I always assumed x64 programs installed to the Program Files directory.
8. Reboot.
9. Joy at last.

Hope this helps but of course your mileage may vary.

hello I have been playing with this multiple google chrome processes in task manager past few days it is malware but haven't been successful in removing it I have traced file to multiple disguised fake folders it created saved the location in note pad and booted computer in safe mode deleted the folder only to have it reappear in a new folder it created.  done this three times before investigating more on line about the issue. if im understanding correctly it requires a more practiced hand than my own to fully remove it I will post a farbar txt of its findings in this chat and if anyone is available to walk me through how to remove it I would greatly appreciate your time and help I hate  to say this but I really admire this one normally I can handle basic malware but this is really out of my league
I work during the day Monday through Friday 8 to 5 so any time during evenings or weekends I can really spend time and get this removed with a practiced hand

Hi there,my name is Marius and I will assist you with your malware related problems. Before we move on, please read the following points carefully.First, read my instructions completely. If there is anything that you do not understand kindly ask before proceeding.Perform everything in the correct order. Sometimes one step requires the previous one.If you have any problems while following my instructions, Stop there and tell me the exact nature of your problem.Do not run any other scans without instruction or add/remove software unless I tell you to do so. This would change the output of our tools and could be confusing for me.Post all logfiles as a reply rather than as an attachment unless I specifically ask you. If you can not post all logfiles in one reply, feel free to use more posts. If I don't hear from you within 3 days from this initial or any subsequent post, then this thread will be closed.Stay with me. I will give you some advice about prevention after the cleanup process. Absence of symptoms does not always mean the computer is clean. My first language is not english. So please do not use slang or idioms. It could be hard for me to read. Thanks for your understanding.Important: To help me reviewing your logs, please post them in code boxes. All of a sudden I am unable to open Google Chrome as my browser?  Suggestions please?Edit: Moved topic from Windows XP to the more appropriate forum. ~ Animal

Answer:Cannot open my Google Chrome

All of a sudden I am unable to open Google Chrome as my browser?  Suggestions please?Have you tried using Chrome under a different user account (you might need to create one, of course)?Either way the first thing to try would be to uninstall it and re-install it...assuming you have not tried that already. If the new user account did help, them it might be corrupted preference files...if so, then uninstalling and re-installing would likely fix that.

If you feel like one more try, use this in Advanced mode.Revo Uninstallerhttp://www.softpedia.com/get/Tweak/...http://www.softpedia.com/progScreen...http://www.revouninstaller.com/Open Revo, double click on a program logo, click > Yes & then you get your options, with Advanced down the bottom. If you have partially uninstalled your program, you get a message from Revo, that it can't find the uninstaller, hit Cancel & let Revo continue on, to search for the remnants. If you get a reboot message, ignore it & do it after Revo has finished.I use Advanced Mode. Hello this happened just an hour ago. I downloaded a file and saw that it was detected by Nod 32 as a threat so i immediately deleted it and ran a scan for computer. I also used CCleaner just in case. And this happens when i open any browser. I'm just gonna use piclair for the picture since i don't really know any other program. http://piclair.com/wad0p . Sometimes the IP address changes so does the website link. I would like to know if it's a virus or something and how to fix it. Since i don't really want to log in into some important site when i have this threat coming up everytime. I'm using Windows 8.1

Hello everybody, I was removing programs from the add/delete programs tool in the control panel, when suddenly most icons were changed to .ink and the ones who weren't appeared as if Windows had never opened them.

I can't open regedit or .exe files either, nor .reg, it says 'Windows needs to know what program created it' I don't know what to do i tried to access regedit from command.com in system32 but It won't allow me, I can't open Jcreator, or paint, nothing, not from direct acces or the programs menu.

I am really at my wit ends as to what to do, I just deleted what I thought malware, spyware or useless things.. if someone can help me I will highly appreciate it. I would give a link with a print screen of how the icons look but I can't open paint and don't know how.

Also I am not sure if this is the forum where I should be posting this, so please bear with me or please redirect me to a more appropriate forum.

Hello. Just today I have encountered a problem with Chrome. Whenever I attempt to run it, it will not open. I looked in task manager and the application is not running nor are its processes. Then some minutes later, Chrome disappeared from my task bar even though I had it pinned. I can still find it in the start menu so I have a shortcut of it on my desktop. The shortcut also doesn't open it. Today Windows did do some updates, but I believe I had this problem before it did the updates. Restarting the computer doesn't resolve the issue. I use Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit and the laptop model is a Dell N7110

I looked in Event Viewer and it did give an application error and appcrash event:

Google Chrome opens fine when I've just started it. If I close it accidentally or forgot something and have to reopen it after I close it, it will not open. It's almost as if it isn't closing properly but when I check task manager it does not show it running. I have to wait 20 - 30 min. to open it again. I've reinstalled and it still does this. I've tried to find tech support for a free product on Google Chrome sites, but they only support free the products you purchase. This is my favorite browser, can anyone help?

A fake Google chrome file and dllhost.exe 32 file keeps spamming my task manager. I downloaded the real "Google chrome" from Google so I could use the "Google chrome task manager" to get rid of it but it didn't work. I turned my thumbnail preview off and I haven't seen dllhost.exe 32* since but I'm not sure if its completely takin care of that problem. My temporary fix for the fake Google Chrome file right now is when it starts spamming my task manager I right-click on it> open file location> start logging off and when the force shutdown menu appears I click cancel. For some reason it completely vanishes from my task manager for a couple seconds when I start logging off. Then I go back to my "open file location" and quickly delete the file before it starts back up. This stops it from spamming me but I have to do it every time I get on my computer. Still looking for a permanent solution for it.

Hello -
A customer of mine brought their personal laptop to me to look into why large amounts of data are being used up on their Verizon Hotspot.  This is a Windows 7 Home Premium laptop.  I ran multiple virus scans including ComboFix and Malwarebytes that returned zero results.  I then noticed in Task Manager that there were multiple processes running that belonged to Google Chrome.  I then verified that Chrome is not even installed.  I found the running .exe file in the \userprofile\appdata\locallow\Google directory.  Rebooted into 'Safe Mode' and then removed the folder and then scanned the registry for the same .exe name and removed them as well.  I then restarted the pc and the files reappeared, this time in the Adobe directory rather than Google.  I repeated the steps above with the same results.  Would you please help me with removing this virus?  Thank you.

Still looking for a permanent solution for it.Click to expand...

I had the same issue. Hopefully you can help. File attached. The google chrome process was called "Eskuyiyifxt.exe*32"

I'm using Windows 8, and I can't get Google Chrome to open. I've tried uninstalling it, but I haven't been able to do it.

Answer:Can't get Google Chrome to open in Windows 8

What happens when you try to uninstall it? What error message do you get, either when you try to run or remove it? Are you sure you are going to the correct place to uninstall it?"I've always been mad, I know I've been mad, like the most of us..." Pink Floyd

For the past week or so I've had a problem opening Google Chrome after I close it. The only way I can open it is when I do a reboot. Then if I close it again - same thing !!!!

I've already uninstalled and re-installed Chrome and same thing. I always have the habit of deleting browsing history after an internet session.

Firefox and Internet Explorer is fine.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Thanks.

I downloaded some chrome apps into launcher and now it will not openwas going to uninstall but that did not work eitherthanks

Answer:google chrome launcher will not open

What do you mean by launcher? As far as I can tell, there isn't a folder called Launcher in the entire Google directory on my computer, at least in Program FIles. Also, what do you mean by you were going to uninstall, but that it didn't work? Did you or did you not attempt to reinstall chrome yet?
