Will Thunderbird mail work directly with Microsofrt IE11

Question: Will Thunderbird mail work directly with Microsofrt IE11

At present my PC is configured with Thunderbird Mail and Firefox. As I am tired of using Firefox can my PC (Win8.1) be configured to work with Thunderbird Mail and Microsoft IE11?

Your help on this would be appreciated.

Preferred Solution: Will Thunderbird mail work directly with Microsofrt IE11

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: Will Thunderbird mail work directly with Microsofrt IE11

If you mean that using a browser to access your email on the server very similar to web-based email operations - yes, no problem. I've used T-bird for years, and can use my FF or Chrome or IE to access my email account.

I'm using IncrediMail, and for a number of reasons I'm thinking of changing. I have OE6, but I read that it is a favorite target of the baddies. Mozilla Thunderbird's e-mail sure looks interesting, but I wonder if it works well with Internet Explorer. Any answers--or suggestions for some other free e-mail clients--would be appreciated.

Answer:Thunderbird e-mail work well with IE?

Hi,
I'm using Thunderbird and it's the best e-mail client. You shouldn't have problems using IE6 and Tbird.

Per the advice of this Forum, I started using Thunderbird last fall. It's great! Much better than Outlook, and I love it. But today I added two new addresses to my account, and I can't get T-Bird to receive e-mail sent to those addresses. I called Earthlink, and they helped me set up the new addresses in Outlook (which receives the mail fine). But they don't "support" T-bird, and he couldn't help me. I used all the same settings in setting up the new addresses in T-bird, but to no avail (my original address works fine in T-bird). I went to the Mozilla help site, and I think I did everything right per their instructions. I must be missing something.

Any ideas? Pretty frustrating.

Another comment: last summer my laptop was close to getting thrown in the trash, I had so many viruses, pop-ups, hijacks, etc. This Forum totally rescued my machine. It now works like a million bucks. With no problems. Thanks to the TSG people!!!

Been using Thunderbird with no probs for years - changed my password. Now Thunderbird will not work with it.It keeps saying that the new password is incorrect- but I know its correct as i've checked it online and on my phone.I am 100% certain the password is fine - but Thunderbird says no.Can anyone help with this It says Configuration could not be verified. Could the username or password be wrongthanks

Answer:Thunderbird mail - Gmail password won't work - why?

I had a similar problem. Delete the email address and re-add it as a new address. When you then put in the password, it will work. I am not sure what the problem is, but I had this on two systems and this fixed both. The first time was very frustrating and took a while before I decided that I had enough and was finally willing to try what I was sure would work but thought that it should be much easier just changing a setting ot trying again, and again, and again.... It was much easier to delete the email account and add it back again. There may be a few settings that you need to redo, but that is simple.Good luck. You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.

Has anyone migrated from Thunderbird 2.0 directly to 14?? 2.0 is working fine for me but I'm feeling like I'm out of date with no multiple tab interface. Has anyone successfully gone from 2.0 installed(not portable version) to 14 installed?

I'm looking to avoid trashing 2.0 until I see if 14 works.

Answer:Thunderbird 2.0 directly to 14?

Just installed to another folder and so far, all is well.

Hello,
I'm encountering a problem on different computers.
Internet Explorer 11 and Edge are not able to open files from a shared folder located on the same computer.
For example, let's say I typed this "\\10.100.100.10\folder_1\DOC_FILE.doc" on the address bar.
The browser then shows : "This page can't be displayed".
When I display more information, the error "INET_E_RESOURCE_NOT_FOUND" appears.
I have already tried to uncheck "Enable TCP Fast open" and it is still not working.
It seems like this problem cannot be reproduced on all IE11/EDGE browsers, and can be encountered on both Windows 7 and Windows 10.
Any ideas ?
Best regards

The first solution than I tried I use the method beginQuoteFileUnquoteUpload1 it created me a good boundary and good Content-Type but when I receive the file. The file is corrupted :(

formData.append('file', document.getElementById('file').files[0], document.getElementById('file').files[0].name);

Yep, no matter what I do or try, all the mail for my Inbox goes straight into Junk Mail.

I have triple checked all the account, junk mail and security settings and they all appear OK.

Even when I mark one of these as "Safe", next time straight back to the Junk Mail.

Dumbfounded! I tried to find the location of the password manager within Windows 7 - 64 (control panel), IE11 Tools and Thunderbird Tools, but I have not found anything there. Where can I find this password manager? Whenever, I open Thunderbird, I get prompted to enter the PW for each of the email accounts. there is also an option to allow a "password manager" to remember the password. I have never installed a password manager, so I don't know if it is part of TB, Win7 or IE11. That's my first dumb question.
The worst part of this is that I don't intend to use ever a password manager. I don't trust them, in fact I don't trust any web based data storage system. Companies can go belly up and/or bought out and customer data gets lost or even worse merged with other companies systems that don't match, whereby your own data gets mixed with somebody else's data (different ISP but same screen name), which can cause great havoc and despair. (example: AOL merge with CompuServe and Netscape). Enough of that.

My problem right now is that one of my email accounts in Thunderbird suddenly opens up without asking for a PW. I have not consciously ever opted for a password manager to be used. I must have accidently clicked on that option and now this account is no longer PW protected. So I want to find that culprit password manager and remove the password from it, if that is possible (not sure about that?). Could someone help me with that? I would be very thankful.
Derek

Hello, I have a question... actually 2 questions... 1) is Mozilla Thundebird compatible with Windows 10. Yes or No?? If Yes - 2) HOW to import e-mail from Yahoo mail into Thunderbird on W/10?. My husband's computer has W/10 and I am unable to import his mail into Thunderbird .

Thanks for your help in advance.

Answer:Can't import mail to Thunderbird from Yhaoo mail on Windows

Yes, it's compatible, just make sure you are using the latest version: https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/thunderbird/

Not sure what you mean by import from Yahoo. If you are using Yahoo mail on the web and you want to use it with an email client like Thunderbird then you need to setup the email account in Thunderbird and it can download the emails. Here's a good guide on setting it up using IMAP which will give you all the folders you see on the web: http://pop2imap.com/yahoo_thunderbird.php

Edit:

If you want the Yahoo Contacts and Calendar then there are two extra steps: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/thunderbird-and-yahoo

Hello

I use OE for my e-mail program. I currently have 10 groups off of my contact list.

I will want to set up a new one. No problem there.

What I want to do is have someone else set up a group using the same name as the group I set up on my PC. They will also be using OE on their PC. They will input the names and addresses using that PC. Then, I will export that group, and import the data into my address book.

Will I be able to have the group imported directly into my group, or, can I only import to the general contact list?

Answer:setting up mail accounts in thunderbird win mail

You need to have the password set with your ISP which you would have done when you originally set up the account. Then when you configure the account in Thunderbird type in that same password and ask Thunderbird to remember it.You cannot just set a password independently in Thunderbird - your ISP needs to know it as well.

Windows Live Hotmail helps you get rid of unwanted email with the Sweep menu.
Step 1: Spot a sender whose messages you want to sweep out
Select the check box next to a message from that sender.
Step 2: Click Sweep
You can choose to move or delete all the messages from the sender.
Step 3: Don't bother with this again
Just select the box to move or delete future messages from the sender automatically.

Hi there,

I posted this in the "Windows Crashes, BSOD, and Hangs Help and Support" but have had suggested to me to try this forum.

I have a strange problem with Windows 7, I cannot run any executables from the desktop or from the start menu. When I try to I receive a "These files can't be opened", your internet security settings prevented one or more files from being opened. Some guides say to access the security settings internet zone but it is completely blank.

Weirdly enough though I am able to open programs by using the "Open with" command to run it. E.g to get firefox to run I need to open a txt file and open it with firefox. Other programs I've had to run it by cmd prompt, but this would only work if I shift click and open a location in the command window. Any direct double clicking on the executables results in the above error.

Running from the command prompt has only worked for some programs.

Please help, I'm not sure what else I can do to fix it. My backups have been having problems so I can't restore back to a previous time before this happened.

Thanks in advance for any help.

P.S I have tried to run a windows repair, but I get the same error about permissions.

I ran kapersky online scan and I also have Malwarebytes premium, neither revealed anything. I'm worried I might have a virus giving me these access problems.

Answer:Cannot run any executables directly only through 'Open with' do they work.

Create a new admin account, then run these scans.

Adware Cleaner Scan.

Please download AdwCleaner by Xplode onto your desktop.
Close all open programs and internet browsers.
Double click on adwcleaner.exe to run the tool.
Click on Scan button.
When the scan has finished click on Clean button.
Your computer will be rebooted automatically. A text file will open after the restart.
Please post the contents of that logfile with your next reply.
You can find the logfile at C:\AdwCleaner[S1].txt as well.

JRT Scan.
Please download Junkware Removal Tool and save it on your desktop.

Shut down your anti-virus, anti-spyware, and firewall software now to avoid potential conflicts.
Run the tool by double-clicking it. If you are using Windows Vista or Windows 7, right-click it and select Run as administrator.
The tool will open and start scanning your system.
Please be patient as this can take a while to complete depending on your system's specifications.
On completion, a log is saved to your desktop and will automatically open.
Please post the JRT log.

Download Adware removal tool to your desktop, right click the icon and select Run as Administrator.

Problem first appeared in late May when I tried to read AOL mail using IE11 on my HP laptop(W7, 64bit, Intel I5). "Problem with IE11 has caused IE to close". Other web pages seemed to open normally. Used Chrome to read my AOL mail, no problems. Uninstalled IE11, installed IE10 & could read AOL mail with no issues, so installed IE11. Still no problem reading AOL mail. MS update KB3160005 installs & AOL mail problem surfaces again. Uninstalled & hid 3160005. Again, can read my AOL mail using IE11. Then same issue when update KB3170106 comes along. Uninstalled and hid - fixed the issue again. Finally, on 8/12/16, update KB3175443 installs & same issue resurfaces!! Uninstalled & hid - fixed. A W7 desktop(W7 64bit, Intel I5) did not have these issues with the first two updates, but the problem did appear after installing update KB3175443. The only common software between these two computers is MS Office 2007, Adobe & VLC.
Just information in case you are having these issues with IE11. My fix is to use another browser as MS is pathetic.

I post this here mainly because I guess it's an IE11 bug, but also incase someone else stumbles across this issue.
We have one user (currently) who has a lot of mail, when using OWA IE8 shows it all, Firefox shows it all, IE11 shows only some of it.
The user has mail back to 2004, but IE11 cuts off around 2010 - I don't think this is a date issue but rather the sheer volume of mail, however I'm suprised to find that both Firefox and IE8 render it fine.
To give an example of the amount, IE8 showed around 1300 pages of mail in this particular folder.
I appreciate this is not the best organised mailbox, but it's still a bug I guess and we don't want to start rolling out firefox for all our users who hit this issue.

IE11 on four machines so far same problem, Firefox has worked on each one.
I logged this with OWA/Exchange support, who agreed it sounded like an IE11 bug, but were unable to pass it anywhere and asked me to relog it with the IE11 team, which I was unable to do due to a lack of support agreement.
Anyone have any ideas on this one, or anyone from MS interested?
Thanks.

When I open Yahoo Mail in IE11 nothing works. Clicking on anything in it does nothing.

The other things on Yahoo's site seem to work correctly. Yahoo Mail in both Chrome and Firefox work correctly too.

What might be wrong?

I have looked for a download source of IE11 for Windows 8.1, but amongst the myriad of search results there isn't a single one which is clear and/or explicit.

Answer:Yahoo Mail not responding in IE11

I had similar problems with Yahoo Mail. Sometimes refreshing the page will work, other times log out and log back in helps. You can also contact Yahoo Support by clicking help in the upper right corner. Also, clearing cookies may help.

IE11 is built-in to Win 8.1 and there is no available download. You can try to reset IE11, Click gear icon, (Internet Options/Advanced/Reset)

Normally, I keep my outlook files on a separate drive so that I do not lose data when I have to reinstall or upgrade Microsoft Office. Recently, I tried to keep a backup copy of all the outlook files, including outlook.pst to cloud but could not make it work.
First, it was SkyDrive.. I copied the folder containing outlook files to skydrive folder and changed the path of outlook.pst so that it automatically syncs with my skydrive. Did not happen. Outlook 2010 would present a message saying PST file is not accessible. Not that the PST file was on the SkyDrive but since I had a local copy within the SkyDrive folder, I was expecting Outlook 2010 to access it as it did before. The path was correct too.
I tried Comodo Cloud Backup. This was even worse. Upon syncing, it damaged the PST file and I lost some folders and email backups. Message was same - Outlook cannot access the PST file and later, the PST file is invalid.
The reason that occurred to me was that when I place the outlook.pst file in Skydrive or Comodo or whatever sync folders, it would be accessed first by the cloud clients - skydrive desktop client or Comodo Cloud Client. Since these files are already in use, Outlook 2010 cannot use them.
Thought of a workaround to have the latest copy of outlook.pst on the cloud. I created a batch file that would run before I open Microsoft Outlook. It would copy outlook.pst to a folder in SkyDrive. Outlook 2010 will access the main outlook.pst that is not located in any of t... Read more

Hello Guys!

I bought an Acer Aspire One KAV60 from Ebay couple of days ago not that cheap (so I expected everything to work properly) and after playing around with it I noticed some problems that I would like to first ask here before returning it:

1: Mouse pad does not work and all drivers seems to be properly installed.

The laptop came with the original O.S (Windows 7 32 bits Premium) so I decided to format the HD and reinstall Windows 7 instead of uninstalling all the bloatware the came with it.

In the middle of the Windows 7 installation the mouse pad stop working so I though it was a driver issue and I connected a wireless mouse to finish with the Windows Installation.

My surprise was that after finishing installing Windows the mouse pad still does not work and all the drivers seems to be correctly installed.
Any ideas? suggestions to try?

2: Netbooks boots directly into the Bios

So here is the second problem. Sometimes the netbook boots to Windows but most of the time it will boot directly into the Bios, I tried playing around with the Bios settings and everything seems to be properly set, here are the Bios settings:

Boot Priority:

1: IDE0
2: IDE1
3: USB FDD
4: USB CDROOM
5: USB HDD
6: Network Boot

Other Settings:

QuickBoot: Enabled
NetWork Boot: Enabled
F12 Boot Menu: Enabled
D2D Recovery: Enabled
Sata Mode: AHCI

In conclusion, should I try something else or just ask for a full refund?

Answer:netbook boots directly into bios and mousepad does not work

Quick update:

After playing around with my mini netbook I found out that all I need to do was hit Fn + F7 to activate the touch pad, yeah, so silly : )

But the problem with the computer booting to the Bios keeps bothering me, if I restart the computer from Windows 7 then the computer restarts fine and goes into Windows again but if the computer is off and I hit the On button to turn it on, it goes into the Bios settings.

Any ideas of why this is happening?

I tried several Bios settings but still.

Hi,

I am running Windows 7 and using Windows Mail as my email Client and it has worked perfectly for years. Windows Update installed IE11 this morning and now Windows Mail shuts down as soon as I select a new email. I can do anything else including opening old read emails, but when I try to select a new one from any of four accounts it immediately shuts down. Not sure if this has anything to do with the update. The event viewer logs the error as the mshtml.dll file. I have tried the System File Checker, Microsoft Fix-it, rebooting and running various virus programmes to no avail. From memory I had to jump through a few hoops a few years ago to get Windows Mail, not Windows Live Mail, installed on Windows 7 and I am not sure how to reinstall it if necessary and save all of my settings and message rules.

Can anyone help me fix this?

Axel

Answer:Windows Mail Crashes After Update to IE11

The easiest fix is to uninstall IE 11 and revert to IE 10.
Hide the update so it will not be downloaded and installed again until you are ready to install it.

I have had a lot of problems with ie11 its been months ago problems started and has gotten worse first it was if I clicked on a site in the favorite bar it took three or four clicks to get it to go to the site and when I clicked on outlook mail windows live would come up in address bar but would not go any farther so I deleted windows live and now when I click on outlook mail a blue box with IE symbol in the start and the rest of the box blank will not go any further. Now in the favorite bar I can click on (yahoo mail) and it goes to yahoo mail but when you click on a link in yahoo mail it will not open and also if I searched in bing ( bing is default and I cannot add another search engine) it shows results but I cannot open any links. Microsoft had two major updates in the past month since the last update I still have the same problem with outlook mail blank blue box with ie symbol and now when I try to search with bing I get a blank pink box in the address bar I searched every where for a solution I found one on microsoft forum that said to uninstall ie11 and reinstall ie11 when I uninstalled ie11 it went back to ie9 and down loaded updates for ie9 still had the same problems in ie9 as ie11 so I tried to reinstall ie11 it would not install it said install failed. I researched again and in a microsoft forum it said if you uninstall ie11 it would uninstall files that was only in ie10 and 11 so I installed ie10 and updates but still had the same problems so I went to microsoft... When I go to my Yahoo mail page, it doesn't respond to any key clicks - I can't open any item of mail, nor any of the various links down the left hand side of the mail page.

As far as I can tell, other Yahoo things (all of the applications which appear above the mail's main window) work correctly, including links within those applications.

Yahoo mail works correctly in both Chrome and Firefox.

Why does it no longer work in IE11 ?

Answer:Can't open Yahoo mail in IE11 / Windows 8.1

I believe the problem is with Internet Explorer as I have exactly the same issue with IE9 in Windows 7. It's so slow that it seems unresponsive. I have to wait minutes at a time to go from reading an email to deleting emails. In Mozilla Firefox everything works fine.
I now check my Yahoo Mail using Mozilla Firefox, or I receive the messages with EssentialPIM.

I have the above set up and the world symbol in live mail has a red cross by it and says off line.
I can get email by clicking on the individual accounts.
When I go into IE11 tools file there is no option to go on/off line

Answer:Win 7 home with ie11 and live mail 2011

Have you encountered that annoying WLM bug where despite clicking its "Work Online" button, the only way to get it back online is to use the equivalent option in IE? If you have then I see what you mean - the "Work online/offline" option has been removed from IE11.
If you can't find a fix of your own then a workaround that should work would be to go back to your previous version of IE by uninstalling IE11 via Control Panel -> Programs & Features -> View Installed Updates. Because it's a long list you can use the search box top-right to locate Internet Explorer 11 quickly. You can always go back to IE11 when the job's done.

exampl - sending email and attch pdf, word file, and contact info all in same email is this possible?

Answer:Does Windows phone email allow multiple file type attachments directly in the mail program?

Yes, you need to use a file manager such as files, aerize or pocket explorer or a third party e mail client such as metro mail (download link - MetroMail | Windows Phone Apps+Games Store (United States)) at present as you can only share one document at a time via the office hub and there is currently no way to access documents via the embedded email client in windows phone.
Yes, this is a gross oversight however personally you should really be sending secure links such as Citrix Sharefile and to a lesser extent OneDrive. As these avoids issues with mixed up attachments, incorrect subject lines in emails etc.
Not to mention sharing secure links prevents issues arising where the attachment is far too big to download or send and is more efficient for collaboration on projects (via office webapps with OneDriver), prevents the need to have the information stored on all your devices as it can be pulled down from one central place when needed.
However you need to discipline yourself and colleagues to not deviate from this process otherwise the ensuing fall out would not be a pretty sight (especially true for time constrained projects).
Edit:
Added to for clarification, if you try to attach a document inside an email via the built-in email client it will divert to the photo hub. This behaviour is also true after you have attached a document via the share option in the office hub.
Also to share videos you need to use a file picker and share via email or use MetroMail.

I have an ASUS G75 - installed a new Samsung SSD to replace a Kingston SSD + clean install W 8.1 (new product key) + updates.

Trying to login to my company email (they use gmail) through secureauth - the username is accepted and this brings up the password box, but when the password is entered, the password box disappears and all I am left with is the username box. Repeating the process gives the same result.

With the W 8.1 on the old SSD, there was no problem.

On a desktop with W 8.1 there is also no problem. The internet options seem the same on both computers.

Everything else works fine, no boot problems etc etc.

Has anyone any ideas - I've reached my limit with it.

Answer:New 8.1 Install - IE11 not accepting secure mail password

Welcome to Windows Eight Forums, Christo.

I have a similar problem with a site using an Oracle system. With IE 10 & 11 using Windows 7 I had no problems. While dual booting with 8RP I could never get on. Upgrading to final release 8 then 8.1 no problem. I can't get on using my Windows phone 8.1 Developers Preview. It's very strange.

I'll assume cookies are enabled? Performing a system cleanup before attempting? How about disabling addons before attempting? All these I've tried to no avail.

Would you please list what you've tried?

I recently bought a new Win 8.1 PC. After a couple of days the icons for IE changed to a magnifying glass and is now called "Search". On opening it a totally empty browser window appears but when I type a URL nothing happens at all.
The IE tile in Metro seems to have disappeared as well.
I have tried turning it off and then on again in Uninstaller to no avail.
I ran sfc_/SCANNOW in a Command window but no problems were reported.
Has anyone experienced this problem?
I would be grateful for any advice on reactivating IE11.

Also check programs and features, turn windows features on or off and check the box is ticked for Internet Explorer 11. Click ok.

I've been forced to go back to Windows 8 to get the Internet and WinLiveMail to work consistently.

In Windows 8 they both work seamless using IE10. In 8.1 they are so inconsistent it is impractical to use this version of Windows, even after discussions with Microsoft tech support to sort out the problems with IE11.

Emails won't send, sometimes even after a reboot. WLM frequently can't connect to either Yahoo Mail or my ISP.

IE11 will open some sites some times, and all sites other times. FireFox is the same.

After weeks of experiments and reloads I've finally given up and will use 8 until 8.2 comes out.

Update: In another thread HERE, I explained how I had spoken to MS tech support and they gave me an alternate DNS address to use, but it didn't fix the problem.

Then in another thread, HERE, I discovered a different DNS address from the one I was given by MS.

I put the address in via this pathway:

Workaround: Go to --> Control Panel --> Network and Sharing Center --> Changer adaptor settings --> Right click: Ethernet icon --> Properties --> Networking tab --> Highlight: Internet Protocol Version 4(TCP/IPv4) --> Click: Properties.
Leave "Obtain an IP address" on auto.

Dot: Use the following DNS server address.

Type in the address:

Preferred DNS server: 208.67.222.222Alternative DNS server: 208.67.220.220

The new DNS seems to have fixed the problem and all web sites are opening normally, and very fast.

Hello!

Yesterday I found some spare time and I decided to upgrade my Windows 10 1151 TH2 (build 10586) to the new Windows 10 1607 Anniversary Edition. After the upgrade was complete, I loaded IE 11 as usual and browsed to mail.yahoo.gr to read my e-mail. I then saw the "classic" Yahoo interface and a warning message at the top of the page stating that I see that because my browser is not supported and I should download and install another browser! This is exactly what one sees when opening Yahoo mail from a browser such as IE 8, with the important exception I was using IE 11! Immediately I thought I had some compatibility setting for Yahoo screwing the modern interface and resorting to the classic. I opened the Compatibility View, there was nothing on the list, until I noticed a check box in "Use Microsoft Compatibility lists". I tried to uncheck it and reload Yahoo mail, that was it! Now Yahoo Mail appears in the modern interface as it should! So if you experience similar symptoms in a webpage, try unchecking that box, see photo below:

When I have more time and examine the new features or bugs of Windows 10 Anniversary Edition, I'll post again!

I have trouble opening/downloading yahoo mail attachments on one of my laptops. When I click on it, I get the message "Do you want to open or save...", but instead of the name of the file that message continues with some gibberish, "raw?appid=YahooMailNeo=Token... etc"... I believe the file does not contain a virus, because it's one I uploaded myself. Does anyone know what is going on?
The OS is Win7 and the internet browser is IE11. After I noticed the issue, I tried opening some older attachments and none worked. I had the same issue on my secondary email address as well.
The problem occurs only in IE11. Other browser, such as Opera or Chrome, can open yahoo mail attachments just fine.

Is that a software issue? I think it's unlikely to be a virus, but, ever since I was hit by a ransomware 6 weeks ago, I have become jumpy when something does not work as it should.

The "new improved" Yahoo Mail isn't. In fact, it's vexing, mortifyingly slow, and no longer allows open folders while creating new messages so you can't copy and paste with both items open. Since Yahoo won't permit going back to the old, reliable version. So, I'm seriously considering a switch to Mozilla's Thunderbird v 24.0.1 on my Win7-64 desktop and my wife's Win7-64 laptop. She uses the paid version of Yahoo and I'm on the free version.

Once I get Thunderbird going, does anyone know how I can:
get mail addressed to me at Yahoo forwarded to me in Thunderbird?
import my Yahoo contacts into Thunderbird?
import my Yahoo folders and their contacts into Thunderbird?
I'm not a techie, so I'd greatly appreciate learning how I can go about this. Thanks in advance.

Hello to all the Forum helpers here. I have a problem with Windows Update trying to install IE11. When I built the comp I had IE8 installed. Apparently Windows Update has tried to install IE11. I don't usually use IE for browsing, since it is usually slower and a clunker, so I didn't give much thought when it "Updated" and didn't know it was trying to update IE from 8 to 11. As I have been searching this issue, apparently, I didn't uncheck the "Automatically Update to newer version of Internet Explorer" in help/about. Apparently it was coming through updates as "Important Updates"? to automatically download & install? I would like to have IE working again as some websites do not work properly without it. Have had serious issues with IE in the distant past when running 98se. I'm new to this forum and haven't used mspaint in years to try and post screenshots. Please be patient with my responses. Thank you.

I was doing reasonably well with Windows 10 after doing a clean installation. There have been some problems with third-party software, but that's not entirely unexpected.

However, since the 1511 update, IE11 and Chrome don't work very well. Chrome is slow and won't load some images, and IE11 often won't even load a page.

(To answer what is probably an obvious question, Edge has no trouble loading pages and does so quickly. However, it keeps downloading some kind of adware from various sites without permission, and that's unacceptable.)

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I'm thinking of start using Thunderbird 15, for my mail and chat needs.

However I have no experience with Thunderbird and I'm not sure this is the right thing to do. (Security wise)

The plan is to migrate my:
.Gmail
.Hotmail's
.Google reader

.MSN
.Google Talk

.Skype (if Possible)

Is this a good thing to do? (Will I have same or better security?)
and should I have some addons for Thunderbird? (If you recommend me to use it...)

Thanks for help!

Hi all,
I'm wondering what 'catches' there might be to using the Windows mail. I'm from a Mac background, and am trying to get my head around the best way to do stuff on PC.

I've currently got Thunderbird and Firefox set up on my PC (Compaq laptop) but just feel a bit overwhelmed by culture shock, and so might stick with them for a while.

(Just getting to know Thunderbird was tricky enough but Windows mail looked too locked into all that Windows live stuff and I'm just not up for a whole new social contacts list thing at the moment).

What else should I be aware of as a mac to Windows7 newcomer?

Answer:Who uses Windows mail V Thunderbird?

I tried Windows Live Mail and generally agree with you about that "Live" stuff. I went with Tbird and have no regrets.

As a Mac guy, you should know:

Make sure you keep Windows updated through Windows Update. Not necessarily for all available updates, but for the critical and important ones. Be more selective about anything classified less than "important". Don't blindly install new drivers if things are running OK.

Get a good antivirus/malware/spyware setup going. A good start would be Microsoft Security Essentials. Some say that and the Windows Firewall is all you need. Others will tell you that you should have more than that. Opinion is divided.

Backup your personal files--I assume you did that on a Mac.

You have exposure to many more apps than you would have on a Mac. Many of them are freeware. All I have actually spent money on is Windows, Office, and Photoshop.

Get wise to Windows System Restore capability. It will bail you out frequently.

PC hardware is cheaper and you will be able to do your own upgrading and maintenance.

Is the only way of stopping Thunderbird considering e-mails to be thought of as 'scams', to add the senders address to my address book. I only ask as it always says my daily bbc news email may be email scam. I have clicked the button to tell thunderbird it is not a scam email but the next night it happens again.

Answer:Scam e-mail in Thunderbird

Try Shift + J instead i.e. Not JunkYou can change the filtering from both Messages and Tools tabs.

I have been using Mozilla Thunderbird for several months now and have found the spam filtering to be pretty good. However, I have discovered an oddity that I puzzles me.

When I flag messages as spam (those that Thunderbird has not automatically identified and moved to the junk folder), I choose TOOLS/RUN JUNK MAIL CONTROLS ON FOLDER and all the flagged messages are moved from my inbox to the Junk folder. Well... most of the time. Occasionally a message I have flagged remains in my inbox and the flag is removed! Other messages I have flagged are properly removed from the inbox and sent to the Junk folder.

So I flag the message again an run the control. Same result, it just removes the flag.

OK. I can successfully remove the message from the inbox by flagging it as junk and then choose "Delete mail marked as junk in folder" to get the desired result, but I find this inconsistency of the Junk Mail Control a mystery. Has anyone else made this discovery?

Answer:Thunderbird and Junk mail

I notice that under the Junk Mail Controls it has an option to NOT delete junk mail from people in your personal address book, etc. Do you think that this might be the case with your problem?

Answer:Mozilla Thunderbird e mail

If on Windows 2000 or XP, this quick trick may help:

1. Hit windows key + r (or click Start --> Run)
2. In the 'Run' dialog, type 'regsvr32 urlmon.dll' (without the quotes)
3. Hit enter (or click the 'OK' button)

If you get a message saying this succeeded, try clicking links again.

Answer:thunderbird cannot get into my yahoo mail

You need to pay Yahoo for POP access to your account before you can access it that way. Then, you need to set up the accounts servers. Only Asian users get free POP access.

Hello,

I know this isn't exactly Windows 7 related, but you folks seem to know just about everything, and are so responsive.
Really a great Forum, especially for folks like me.

Regarding the e-Mailer Thunderbird by, I guess, Mozilla

I used to have in the Header for incoming e-mails, very simply:
From
Subject
To

Now, after updating to their latest, there is a zillion other e-mail Header items, that also print out if I print the e-mail. Such as:

Message ID
Account Key
and about a dozen more useless lines.

How do I get rid of these so they don't ever show, and just revert to the
very simple Header of From, To, and Subject again ?
Can't sem to find any option for doing so.

Thanks,
Bob

Is there an easy way to edit the signature I place into my emails? I'm a novice, so the Thunderbird help page is a little complicated for me. I don't understand how to edit files etc. I actually can put the signature in the emails okay, but I cannot figure out how to make the font bold. Right now the signature is faded out. Any help to this newbie is appreciated.

hopefully this is an easier guide for a novice.

I noticed in the new and improved Thunderbird, it does not remove junk mail automatically determined to be junk to the trash or junk mail folder even if settings are determined to do that. It did this in older versions. Is this a known issue?

Answer:thunderbird 2.0 bug - junk mail

We have not noticed that change on our install.

I cannot find any topics which confirms if Lycos Mail works with Thunderbird or not. Can anyone confirm one or the other?

Answer:Lycos Mail with Thunderbird

I don't think Thunderbird supports HTTP servers. It is a shame they removed POP access from their free accounts.

Please can someone advise me on this problem.
A friend of mine helped me to upgrade my PC, and Firefox and Thunderbird were installed for web and emails. Now I'm with Virgin, but he's set it up so that all emails seem to be accessed through Gmail. Under my Virgin account there are folders - Inbox, Drafts, Sent Trash and All Mail. I seem to have 8255 emails in the All Mail folder. Some emails are somewhat sensitive as being sent from a business colleague which I need to delete after reading them. It seems that all my Inbox, Sent and Trash emails are still contained in the All Mail folder. So I selected all and deleted everything from that folder. The 8255 emails then appeared in the Trash folder, which I immediately deleted. Clicking once on the All Mail folder to make sure it was empty, the 8255 emails began to download back into that folder again. When I tried to delete them again, Thunderbird crashed and I had to end task. Restarting Thunderbird, I selected all in the All Mail folder and deleted, which sent everything to the Trash folder, which now contained 16510 emails. Why can't I permanently delete my emails? If I can, how? I'm slowly going up the wall! Help!

My apologies if this isn't posted in the right place!

I switched to Thunderbird awhile back after Outlook Express 'swallowed' most of my email. (I found out later that it has some sort of bug that causes it to be unstable after 2gb of mail.)

I have been very pleased with Thunderbird. But now it's starting to act like Outlook! If I'm sitting at the computer, I can see an email message is coming in from the little pop-up that gives me the header and first snippet of text. I go to the inbox ... it's not there! (No, it's not going in a folder)

If I use the search feature it will find it.

If I close Thunderbird down and re-open it it appears where it belongs. Sometimes other emails that came hours ago appear as well!

What's up with that? Does Thunderbird have a max storage limit as well?

Help!

Hi All

I have recently started playing around with and using the mozilla software. As im sick of all the adverts and cluttered look of AOL I have set my E-mail to Aol to be read via Thunderbird. This works fine but when send out e mail it doesn't work. The outgoing server doesn't work though. The address i have entered is smtp.aol.com. I am probably missing something really dumb.

Using XP, firefox and thunderbird.

Using thunderbird 3.1.6 so older add-ons for new mail notification do not work.

I want an icon or message to appear in my system tray when I get new email using thunderbird. I tried Incredimail, but it is a complete email program, which will replace thunderbird. I tried mailpop, with the same outcome.

I only want to be notified when I have new email with my existing emailer, thunderbird.

Is there a software which will do that?

I had the Thunderbird automatic update selected. On the last update the program halted for an error (don't remember what the message was). When I clicked retry on the menu, it continued going through the cycle of showing an error and providing the retry menu. I closed the menu box and it went away for awhile, but continued to go through the endless cycle not letting me either open Thunderbird or get out of the cycle. It finally stopped and the Thunderbird program disappeared from my computer. No sign on the Control Panel or in the list of programs. However, the short cuts remained. Looking at the "All Programs" Thunderbird listing, all that remained was the licensing agreement and the user manual.

I went to the internet and tried to download the program again. It put the exe file on the desktop from which I started the install wizard. It hung up with the following message on the Mozilla Thunderbird Setup menu.

Error opening file for writing:
C:\Program Files\Mozilla Thunderbird\mozMapi32.dll
Click retry to try again or
Cancel to stop installation.

How do I recover?

Thanks

Answer:Lost Thunderbird e-mail

You may not have lost anything as Thunderbird stores emails, address books, etc.. in a profile folder outside of the program files.. To check & see if your Thunderbird profile folder is still there, follow the steps here (click link >>) Location of Thunderbird Profile FolderAs for the error, see if either of these help:>> Thunderbird Installation>> Cannot Open Thunderbird After Attempted Upgrade

OK, here is a problem that is driving me CRAZY! It's kind of hard to explain but I'll try my best. My mail client is Mozilla Thunderbird. I have Widows XP and my browser is Internet Express 7.0

The problem is that the curser does not recognize links. That's it in a nutshell. Let me restate it: The curser(which is an arrow and turns into a pointing finger when it senses a link(which leads to a website) does not do anything.) I left click twice and it does nothing!

The following tech support could not help me: Best Buy, Circut City, and Verizon tech support help on line, all came up empty.

Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Thunderbird was playing Can you find the disappearing e-mail on my computer. All e-mail files and folders suddenly disappeared. They were not gone completely as they resided somewhere on my computer. After fidgeting with the Account Settings I now have at least two Inbox folders with data, possibly more. Eventually, I was able to rebuild the folders and some files. But what I got back after the rebuild was mostly incomplete. E-Mails were old and folders were not all the ones I created in the past.

What program do you use if any to merge inbox.msf files and inbox.sbd files created by thunderbird into one unique file? And how do you rebuild and merge an e-mail file and migrate it back into the Thunderbird e-mail client?

In other words, how do you combine two separate e-mail files?
How do you view two separate e-mail files belonging to Thunderbird and merge them together?

Which files belong to Thunderbird (.msf) (.spd) in order to merge and migrate back into Thunderbird?

I have at least two separate e-mail files that Thunderbird can read but are in different places on my computer. I need to assemble one file and read it.

Assuming I have the correct file extensions, if not, please correct.

Thanks for your response.
