Users are unable to load websites - no error, just 1-hour+ load times for pages

Question: Users are unable to load websites - no error, just 1-hour+ load times for pages

Our users have IE 7 and 8. We keep them locked into place by pointing IE to our firewall product (tools > internet options > connections > lan settings), so that only approved sites are the ones that our people can access. In the last few days, several of them report issues with specific websites loading very slowly - load times of over an hour just to get the log-in screen to appear.Troubleshooting Steps:1.) Unchecked the "use proxy server for your LAN" under the IE menus---> Site resolves instantly, as it should---> This pointed me to the direction that perhaps the site wasn't configured for our firewall2.) Re-checked the "use proxy server" box, and specifically configured the site in our firewall---> Site continues to resolve slowly, with the same load times as before performing step 1That would normally indicate that the problem is on the vendor's end. Something may be wrong with their site. And that's the line of thought I was pursuing until I was reported back to that the users are having the same problem on other websites. These new websites they're having problems with are, and have been for a long time, configured properly in the firewall.I'm not sure what my next step is to pursue. What am I looking for now? I don't know enough about networking to figure out where to track next.

Preferred Solution: Users are unable to load websites - no error, just 1-hour+ load times for pages

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

This error: Error 107 (net::ERR_SSL_PROTOCOL_ERROR): SSL protocol error.
Occurs on some web pages when using Chrome and firefox but not when using IE10, I have tried reinstalling google chrome but the error still shows up. Does anyone have any idea on how to solve this error?

Thank you in advance

Answer:Unable to load some web pages SSL protocol error.

Did the errors with both browsers start at the same time? If so, I'd be concerned of some sort of infection. Suggest you scan with some good free programs like Malwarebytes and Superantispyware.

There are SSL settings in both browsers, but they should not both be having the same issue. Is it the same pages that always trigger these errors? can you post an example? I'd hate to advise on changing settings to make it work until you have confirmed the system is clean. A Guy

High spec XP desktop - suddenly developed this problem - on starting up loads pages ok - after 10 - 15 minutes or so it takes ages to come up with an error message unable to load pages - it applies to any pages or emails - when restarted it works OK again for a time then the message comes up again - it drives me nuts - I am completely at a loss what to do or where to look -help please

Answer:error message unable to load pages

jarani - if this has just happened recently you could try a "system restore" - restore to a date prior to the problem occurring.

So on both my laptop and desktop PCs sites randomly don't load a page randomly except if I try to load myspace, then it almost always says "Page cannot be found" on Firefox but still doesn't load after a few refreshes/waiting even on other browsers like IE and Google Chrome but says something else in those browsers when the page doesn't load..

Myspace is the only site I know for sure that it will give me that error and will not load on the first try unless I wait a while and refresh the page. Another weird thing is that when I go to myspace then try to go on another site, it makes the other sites not load more frequently as if i was trying to get on myspace, although I still get page error problems even if I go on sites before going on myspace but much less frequent

Both the laptop and desktop connect to the internetthrough my Netgear modem. The desktop connects to it wirelessly while the laptop is connected directly. This is a cable connection (Cox cable).

I've tried unplugging the router and modem and replugging but that doesn't solve the problem.

Answer:Pages don't load at times

Register at DSLReports and run their Line Quality Tests. It's best to run this test with a direct wired connection to eliminate any wireless issues from the results. It's useful many times to run this test several times, and we'd like to see each of the results. Post the results link from the top of the test display page for each test run here.

The link to post is near the top of the page and looks like:

If you wish to post this result to a forum, please copy/paste this URL
http://www.dslreports.com/linequality/nil/2357195 <- sample only, yours will obviously be different!
and your IP will be disguised.

Copy/paste that link here.

Note: You will have to enable PING (ICMP) request response either in your router (if you have one), or in your computer's firewall for direct modem connections. This is very important to get the most important part of the test to run.
DSLReports

Here's also the Line Quality Tests FAQ to help you understand the results. This will answer some questions about the line quality display.

Hello,

This has been going on for weeks and Iv tried sooo many things. All the settings, deleting, reinstalling, system restore, shutting down security, bypassing router, checking for updates, some have downloaded the SSL certificate and ''reinstalled it''...I don't know how to do that but it didn't work for them anyway. Iv been trying to get tech ''support'' from the website, my isp etc. but to no avail. We can't load up a game anymore or visit any of their httpS pages. It's not just me, other users are having the exact same problem. so far as I can tell we all have satellite Internet but different providers, not sure if everyone with satellite has the same problem or not. I have wildblue thru dishnetwork. up until recently it worked fine.

For example on the website:

https://toontown.go.com/join

Returns an error for me no matter what browser I use.

http://toontown.go.com/join

Remove the S and the page loads but I can't thru to login because that's thru a secure page.

For the game launcher I can give you an example of what some users have done to ''get around'' the problem. When you try to launch the game it uses this:

https://toontown.go.com/launcher/login?n=MYUSERNAME&p=MYPASSWORD

This will not work, results in error. Now the ''get around'' launcher some people made uses the following url. Just taking off the S in https.

Since the past one month, my internet has been slow.. When i download it seems to be pretty fast, but many websites do no load.. Even google loads only after refreshing many times.. Yahoomail, Youtube all take a lot of time to load and only load upon refreshing many times.. Though youtube initially takes long, once it is loaded fine, the videos buffer quite fast.. i ran a scan with mbam and sas.. the log showed that there are no infections.. So i think it may not be a virus but i aint sure.. any advice what i could do next?

Answer:My Internet Conenction Has Become Slow.. Websites Load Only Upon Refreshing Many Times..

What kind of connection are you using?

What browser are you using?

Being summer time and school is out there is a lot more traffic at sites which can result in slower responses getting to some sites. Does this happen with all sites that you go to, or just some of them?

My problem essentially is this, when I go to certain pages such as facebook and espn instead of the page's usual layout with pictures and what naught I get a vertical column of text of material the site should be displaying much like in the dial-up days when you stopped a page before it was fully downloaded.  My problem isn't a connection issue though as several other sites (such as computerhope) work perfectly fine and I was actually able to log in to my University computer through a remote lab system and double check that the problems are not on the server side but for some reason on my laptop. To remedy the situation I've tried clearing my cache/internet history, deleting unnecessary files, trying different browsers (Chrome, IE10 and FireFox) and re-installing plugins and browsers and creating a new user account on my laptop in the event that mine had somehow become corrupted.  None of these helped however. If anyone has any suggestions how to fix this or how this problem occurred I'd be greatly appreciative.  My computer was working perfectly fine before lunch but suddenly began having problems I haven't been able to fix. Also it appears that my roommates computer began having similar issues as mine about the same time so I also tried to bypass our router altogether and plug my computer directly into the modem.  There was no change, could our ISP be causing the problem?

I am the administrator on my WXP pc and I have my sons and wife set up as limited account users. I have Sky broadband. All works fine when I log in with quick and easy surfing. When anyone else logs on, or we switch user the 'green load up indication bar' at the bottom of the window shows a page is attempting to load but it takes ages to progress and only reaches halfway at best (usually after several minutes) and sticks there. When this happens after we switch user and we try to switch back to my settings I too then have the same problem. If I switch off and go in on my settings all works fine for me again. It seems to be something to do with the other users setting but Sky have been worse than useless. Can anyone help?

Hello,

My PC has suddenly begun experiencing strange behaviour. All was fine at first upon switching my PC yesterday evening, until Chrome suddenly restarted itself. Since then it has been completely dysfunctional. Most website will simply not load/connect, but Google works fine among some others (MSN, Facebook). Any other pages that load appear without formatting (CSS, most likely) or images, and other services will not connect either (Anti-Virus update servers, for instance). These symptoms persist across ALL web-browsers. Now this all seems quite a lot like virus behaviour, but none of SUPERAntispyware, AVG, Avast! or MalwareBytes Anti-Malware have discovered anything (Avast! has up to date definition, AVG can't connect). Even RKill.exe/ieXplore did not find any real rogue processes to terminate, it seemed.

AVG almost finished downloading updated definition but was stopped near the end, and since could not connect. More over, after booting into safe-mode and restarting a strange error message appeared, stating: "An unauthorized change has been made to Windows", which advised me to go on-line and re-activate my copy of Windows.

This is all a bit perplexing and I'd hate to have to go through the entire process of re-installing Windows and all my drivers because of it. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you.

Hey all,

I'm having some problems on my mac (OS X 10.9.4) where I'm unable to load the css and js files for various websites. Some examples of what I'm seeing and the errors that I'm getting can be found at the links below.

Css/js problems? - Imgur
Css/js problems? - Imgur

I've gotten these same errors on Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Opera and have tried clearing the cache, resetting, and reinstalling all of these browsers. I initially thought it was an issue with flash I checked for updates on that but I'm up to date. I've also restarted my computer, tried with 3 different routers, and cleared my DNS settings. I'm at my wits end here, any suggestions would be much appreciated!

Thanks!

Answer:Unable to load css/js on certain websites

Do you have any kind of AV installed on OSX? Or firewall? The resources could be being blocked (judging by the first pic with ERR_NETWORK_ACCESS_DENIED plastered on every resource).

Edit: also if you have some kind of peerblocking software, that can block those resources / network connectivity as well.

Hi,

I was initially getting a rundll error upon setup and noticed a few sites were having trouble loading (i.e. news sites, hotmail).  Also noticed a few re-directs from bing & google searches.  Problem got worse and now many sites come up unable to load.  Some would take a long while to try while others including this site are instantly blocked.  This occurs with IE8 and Chrome.

I downloaded and used Malware Bytes which found three infections and cleared them.  The rundll error message disappeared but site loads became worse.  I also used CCleaner and Spybot to no avail.  I also tried resetting my internet settings but it keeps telling me something is open and will not reset.

I know very little about the "inner" workings of computers so be patient with me on your answers.  I am using a work computer today otherwise I would not be able to access this site.

Thanks for your help.

For some reason I am unable to completely load certain websites using my Ethernet connection. Only the base HTML is loaded after waiting several minutes. It is always the same websites, and it doesn't matter which browser I use. Websites that do work generally tend to be popular one like Facebook, YouTube, Google, etc. Websites and services that do not work include Steam, and Norton LiveUpdate.

This issue only occurs when I am connected to the Internet on my desktop via Ethernet directly. If I connect my laptop to the Internet via WiFi and connect an Ethernet cord from my laptop to my desktop, I have no issues at all. I also have no issues running direct Ethenet on my laptop. This leads me to believe that some of my network settings are screwed up but it's weird that I only have this issue when my desktop is connected to the Ethernet wall source directly. I have tried changing the DNS to Google and OpenDNS, and I've tried running a ipcomfig/flushdns from the command line.

Any other suggestions are appreciated!

Greetings, I am still having an issue with loading any user profile (with any functionality whatsoever), after windows starts. I have posted twice here with those issues. Once, it was thought that I had a corrupt user account, I created a new one, which worked for about a month, and now no accounts work. The second time I posted, it was thought that it was due to Conduit virus/malware, I have done all that the good people in that section have asked, and I still have the problem.

My spyware/malware/virus post is HERE Within that link you can find my original problem from this forum.

I run Win 7 sp1

I am only able to run in safe mode with networking, even in safe mode, my internet connection in the toolbar states: 'Not connected - Connections are available' even though I can use the web. I have contacted the DSL company, they say it is on my end, they show a good connection from me to them.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi,

I have a question regarding a problem that I've recently started having whilst surfing the internet. Basically, certain pages and actions do not work, whilst others seem fine. For example, I can load Google with no problems, but when I try to do a search on it, there is no movement at all. Certain sites work fine, whilst others (Youtube, messageboards, etc.) all freeze in the same manner.

I think I can pinpoint the moment when it happened as well, I use Windows Vista, and was unzipping a torrent that I had downloaded. I remember a Norton popping up telling me that something was trying to access the internet. Stupidly, I hit yes without realising it because I was distracted, and the problem has remained since.

I have gotten a log off HijackThis, if anyone can spot anything that might be causing this very annoying problem, or suggest what to do next I would be very grateful!

Hi there,

I have recently had a couple of computers here that I have tried to fix. Well not exactly fix more speed up. I installed some extra ram in each, downloaded all the neccessary windows updates, both now running windows xp with sp3, and updated there avg anti virus and scanned and removed any virus's.

I had them both working fine here, had them plugged in through my d-link adsl2+ modem router with no problems accessing any web pages.

However now that I have returned them to there respective owners they are experiencing the same problems. They get the standard "internet explorer can not load this web page" message when trying to load some pages. Both of them when trying to display youtube and/or hotmail. They can access some other web sites though. They are both running through d-link modem routers although one of them is just a standard adsl2 and one is a wireless.

Is there anything anyone could suggest that may be able to fix this issue? It is definately beyond by limited knowledge.

Cheers
Reece

I have tried deleting cookies, temporary internet files and trying to reset the modem on one of them but with no luck

Firstly, apologies if this is an easy fix - I am a computer numpty!

I have a toshiba portege laptop that runs Windows Vista. I use IE as my browser. Last week, without any warning, IE starting loading certain webpages very very slowly. Quite often they don't load at all and I have to shutdown the browser.

The webpages I seem to struggle with are stuff like Yahoo mail, BBC news, etc, that are quite graphic heavy. I use a couple of simple webpages for work and these load fine as usual.

For info I use Avira and Superantispyware.

Any helpful hints??!!

Answer:Unable to load web pages

Have you checked for any sort of malware ? It could quite possibly be that. When last did your computer have a good clean out ?
Try running something like Ccleaner to get rid of any old browsing history etc, which might be the cause of your browsing slowing down.

Hi all

I've been running into issues that Firefox will not load some sites despite consistent internet connection. This issue is solved when I completely turn off the browser and then restarting the application (sometimes needing to resort to task manager), so it is more of an annoyance than a big problem, but I'd still want to know the problem behind it.

Thanks a lot in advance

Hi. I'm having trouble with my desk top, loading web pages. Some don't load at all and I get a message, "This page can't be displayed." Or in the case of Google.com.au, if it loads, it is very slow. I thought I might have gotten a virus, but I run my Avast virus checker (full scan) to no avail. I've also run Malwarebytes (full Scan) and come up with three detected problems. they are:HKCR\AppID\{835315FC-1BF6-4CA9-80CD-F6C158D40692} (PUP.Opional.PriceGong.A)HKCR\CLSID\{1AA60054-57D9-4F99-9A55-D0FBFBE7ECD3} (PUP.Optional.BrowseFox.A)HKCR\AppID\PriceGongIE.DLL (PUP.Optional.PriceGong.A)Apart from these the computer is supposed to be OK, but it's not.Can someone please help??I'd like to add that I can use my laptop, plugged into the same modem with no problem.  So it's definitely the computer.

Which internet browser are you using? Have you checked with other browsers other than the one you are using?

Well, it finally happened. While I was on vacation, on of the employees at my workplace must've visited some inappropriate site that wasn't blocked by my content filter. Now the browser (IE 6.0.2800.1106) on my Windows 2000 Advanced Server (running Terminal Services) won't load many web pages.

For instance, when I attempt to load http://www.msn.com, here's what happens:

1. The status bar quickly displays (flashes) the following:
"Opening page http://cnomy.com/?dn=navil.com&pid=1PEOL38TR..."
2. The status bar then says "Done"
3. The title bar displays the following:
"navil.com - Microsoft Internet Explorer"

I get the same results when trying to surf to microsoft.com, cnn.com, etc...

However, I *can* navigate without a hitch to google.com, live.com, altavista.com, msnbc.com, cnet.com, etc.

Also, on some of the pages that *do* load, some of the graphics display with the picture placeholder (the box with the red "X"). I can load those same pages using a different machine and all the graphics dispaly, so it's not an issue with the server on the other side.

Here's the HJT log, for additional information:

If so, check your proxy settings as I suggested in the other topic.

I am unable to load certain pages, particularly PC magazine pages. Whenever I try to load, at the bottom right of the taskbar it says `Looking up. ad.uk.doubleclick.net`. The green progress bar gets to about 90% complete and everything stops. I have tried to reload the page but just get to the same place. At the moment I am using an old steam driven PC which allows me access to the sites. The PC I have trouble with runs Windows XP home media edition 2005 and the browser is Firefox. Has anyone else had this problem and if so how did you solve it?

Hi all, I think I posted this in the wrong place before.......
I've got a PackardBell Easynote MZ36 Laptop running Windows Vista Home Premium Service Pack 1.
Some web pages that I visit regularly just won't load anymore. They're not even timing out... just get a blank page with the message at the bottom "Waiting for <hxxp://mail.com"> or "Transfering data from www.mail.com" and the little circle circling away like mad! The green progress indicator sometimes stays completely blank and sometimes goes almost all the way.... but never quite gets there!
I've managed to load from a cached copy in order to log in, but surely there must be a problem that I need to fix?
I've run scans, downloaded malware programs, tried to do system restore (not completing either) and short of reseting my laptop to factory settings I don't know what to do. This happens with the same websites and happens in both IE and Firefox.
Any suggestions out there? Would really appreciate some help.

Answer:Unable to load some web pages

Isn't it just sooooo frustrating? i'm having the same prob with mine, too. if i hit "stop" and then "refresh" a few time, i'll finally get the page. it took me 3 times just to get here. i've had the mcafee viruse scan thru ATT for over a month with no probs. it all started 2 days ago. believe me, i've tried everything!!!! i've been on 53 different websites looking for answers, to no avail. i have win xp home edition, IE7. deleted all temp files, cookies, disabled the mcafee, enabled stuff in the security section of internet options, then put everything back and still no good. google page will come up, but i only get the older mail verson---pain when you're trying to delete 96 spams at one time. my att home page takes about 4 tries, and the i can only get a partial page, just enought to get to my mail.
also can't download anything. i've tried 23 times to download the winzip.exe and even tried to downloa mozzila, but the box comes up, i save it to my desktop and then wait...........and wait............and wait............then cancel. and yes, i've tried to just run it, but that doesn't work iether.
i would love it if someone could help me out.

Just wanted to open up a small discussion here about a problem that we frequently deal with at our isp. I am a technician for a small isp and often we have customers that get what we call a "no surf." Essentially this is when they connect to the internet with no problems, but then cannot transfer any information. No web pages, no email, no internet programs recognize a connection. Sometimes it is a D.N.S. problem where they have old D.N.S. numbers in Tcp/Ip of Networking Control Panel. However, from time to time we end up doing a complete uninstall and reinstall of DUN and TCP/IP. Any ideas on what might be causing these issues and if there is an easier fix than the lengthy uninstall/reinstall?

So last night last night after using a service to get rid of malware I have no longer been able to connect to any websites.

I use a
Rosewill RNX-N180UBE Wireless Adapter
to connect to our wifi and no one else in my family is having the problem

I restarted my computer, I used http://www.selectrealsecurity.com/fix-internet-connection, I tried uninstalling the malware service, I installed SUPER Anti Spyware ran that removed all the problems it found,  but nothing so far has worked!

Unfortunately I at first thought google chrome was the problem so I uninstalled it and put the setup on a flash drive to reinstall it but you need internet access to install it still -_-

So I have internet Explorer and Firefox.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Several problems with computer. Proxy server keeps appearing in Internet Explorer, unable to access websites, unable to add printer.

Windows 8.1, two users, both Administrators. Ran Malwarebytes under both userids and initially identified and quarantined items but logs don't appear to have any info in them. Items are still in quarantine.

Was able to uninstall toolbars and other adware programs via Uninstall but can't uninstall Snap.do Engine.

Attached are logs of scans.

Answer:Proxy server; unable to load websites

Fix items using RogueKiller.

Double-click RogueKiller.exe to run. (Vista/7/8 right-click and select Run as Administrator)
When it opens, press the Scan button
Now click the Registry tab and locate these detections:

Place a checkmark next to each of these items, leave the others unchecked.
Now press the Delete button.

...and the same for these on the tasks tab please...

When it is finished, there will be a log on your desktop called: RKreport[2].txt

I've got a new desktop which is connected to my house wifi using an USB adaptor. The signal quality is constantly at 5 bars but I find myself frequently having to refresh multiple times whenever I load a new page on the browser either because it's not loading or pictures or not showing. Pages become near impossible to load when i am downloading stuff(torrents, upgrades, games etc). Also noticed other computers in the house are also affecting mine when they are in the process of downloading files. Torrents, updates all make it impossible for me to browse the net. Pages literally refuse to be loaded at all whenever something is downloading. I also have to infrequently refresh pages even when nothing is downloading because it's not loading or pictures are not showing. None of the other computers are affected however.

Any program that requires an internet access is also struggling to get connected. I had to use direct links to install certain programs such as Adobe reader/flash. It's often impossible to check for updates in programs or even sign on to clients like Steam/Origin which requires a connection. I had to try for ages before it signed in online but it's still having trouble loading images and such.

What is strange however is that I'm having no issues holding a connection when downloading bigger files such as direct downloads, windows update, steam game downloads and torrents. No drop outs that I've noticed. But it is faily slow averaging 400kb... Read more

Recently my computer started to have problems, and one of them was the internet. I can go on the internet on my laptop, but when I try on my computer it says

Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage.
What You can try
Diagnose Connection Problems (link)

Whenever I try to click the link it doesn't do anything.

Please help :)

Answer:[SOLVED] Unable to load any pages in IE 8

Are you running Internet Explorer 8?

Try enabling compatibility mode. It is the broken page icon next to the refresh button on the toolbar.

If that doesn?t work, run IE in No Add-ons Mode. Go to Start -> All Programs -> Accessories -> System Tools -> Internet Explorer (No Add-ons) - If this fixes the issue, then go to Tools -> Manage Add-ons and enable the add-ons one by one to find which one was causing the problem.

You can also try resetting Internet Explorer's settings by going to Tools > Internet Options and then the "Advanced" tab, and click "Reset..."

If you?re still not having any luck, I recommend you reinstall IE8 on your system.

I hope this solves your problem!

I use icedragon for security reasons in conjunction with Comodo Internet Security for a long time.

Except from last 2 days I am unable to open a few websites properly, especially
-> OLX website, which I use for my business &
-> Facebook.
-> I am unable to see gmail unless I shift to "Load Basic HTML(for slow internet connections)". I never needed to do it unless this problem occured. My internet is fine(As per Pakistan)!

Temporary Solution:
However if I use sandbox service of my internet security, not only I am able to use these websites, but I am able to log in to them and do my routine work without any hindrance, but certainly I face all restrictions of a sandbox(for example I cannot download any file).

Fixes I Tried:
I not only uninstalled software(without my profile being removed), but also removed it's registries using "Power Uninstaller" by Iobit Advanced System Care Pro. Then I rebooted by computer. Then reinstalled it using freshly downloaded installer by the said company but the problem persists and is irritating!

Objective of this Post:
I don't want to change my browser, but Comodo Dragon doesn't seems to have this problem.
Admin please help, and help fast!

Answer:Solved: Icedragon unable to load websites properly

Hey guys,

Recently, I've suddenly been unable to load pages like Google and Facebook in my google chrome browser. I get an error page that says: cannot connect to the real www.google.com

It's never happened before.

I checked out my settings in chrome, and my proxy is apparently set to 127.0.0.1 and port 49257.

This isn't the usual proxy I use to connect. Usually its proxy.singnet.com.sg, port 8080. When I manually key this in, then the pages can load.

I tried running hitman pro and I got a result that said "Proxy server on this computer (User)", internet explorer is using a proxy server on this computer to connect to the internet.

So I just clicked repair, and it seemed to work.

However, when I came back home and booted up my computer again, the proxy settings went back to that 127 thingy.

This only happens in my google chrome browser though. I tried reinstalling it but it didnt help.

Hope to hear from you guys on this.

Last tuesday (the 9th), a friend tossed me a link claiming it was a funny image. Said friend sent me a link to a porn site. I didn't notice anything different however, when I next turned on my laptop, firefox wouldn't always work and half the time would pop up with 'The connection has been reset'. I scanned my computer using: Trend Micro a/v, Spybot search and destroy, and Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware with no results.

Logged on today with neither browser working and I was only able to get on via AOL. I posted on the browser's and mail, got told to reset my IE. That caused both browsers to start working. Everything seems fine, except that FF won't post updates on facebook. So, I'm guessing something is still screwy. I'm currently doing another full scan with Malwarebytes and will post if something unusual pops up. Otherwise, suggestions?

Answer:IE 7 and FF 3.5.7 unable to load pages but internet works

You can always do a system restore to a date prior to Tuesday the 9th if that's when your problem surfaced. Beware of friends like the one who sent you that troublesome link.

Hi
I have a weird set of problems remaining on my system. I have Microsoft Securities Essentials running which has already removed bunch of malware and virus' however despite MSE thinking my computer is clean it is not.

I have internet access with Explorer 7 but Firefox won't bring up any pages. I get a Connection Reset error.
Window Update after trying to load an activeX control fails on the download so I can not do a windows update.
MSE can't load new definitions - It gets an error that it does not have permission to get onto the internet
And Lastly I get random pop-ups of advertising when running Explorer 7.

I read on the site to run DDS and Root Repeal and post the logs here so they are listed below. Anyone who can help me, please respond. This computer is almost back in working order and I would love it to be running perfect again.

Thanks

Please also share with me any information about how your computer is reacting and behaving each step of the way as we work through this process. Please download ComboFix from one of these locations:Link 1Link 2Link 3Important!You should NOT use Combofix unless you have been instructed to do so by a Malware Removal Expert. It is intended by its creator to be used under the guidance and supervision of an Malware Removal Expert, not for private use.Using this tool incorrectly could lead to disastrous problems with your operating system such as preventing it from ever starting again. Make sure that you save ComboFix.exe to your DesktopDisable your AntiVirus and AntiSpyware applications, usually via a right click on the System Tray icon. They may otherwise interfere with our tools

Double click on ComboFix.exe & follow the prompts.

This problem just started happening. It only occurs on this network I have in my home. I have used multiple computers at a different house and the internet is perfect. So I am assuming I have some sort of virus on my network. I need help

Answer:Certain websites wont load, or they take very long to load.

It appears that you have already posted a hijackthis log here. Please be patient while waiting for assistance. HJT Helpers are all volunteers regardless where you post a log. While waiting for a response, you should not ask for help elsewhere or make changes to your computer (install/uninstall programs, use special fix tools, delete files, edit the registry, etc.) Any modifications you make on your own can result in system changes which may not show it the log you already posted. Further, following advice outside of that post may cause confusion for the HJT Helper assisting you and could complicate the malware removal process which would extend the time it takes to clean your computer. If you had posted your log here, similar rules would apply. We would ask that you be patient while awaiting a reply and refrain from asking for help elsewhere. If you followed any other advice already, please ensure you inform the HJT Team Helper when they respond to assist you with your log. This will help them know what has been done and they probably will ask for an updated log.To avoid confusion, I am closing this topic. If you still need assistance after your log has been reviewed and you have been cleared, please start a new topic. If you have any questions, please PM me or another moderator. Thanks for your cooperation.

I use firefox as my browser. Lately some websites either won't load or take in upwards of 20 minutes. My virus scanner keeps catching virus's. I have run my virus scanner(CA VIRUS SCANNER), ad-aware, spybot, spysubtract, and superantispyware, they all cuaght something the first run through but now come up clean. i then browsed the forums here and found a similar post. I tried some of the suggestions there, which were to repair my network connection in the control panel, and to set firefox's network connection to autodetect, these seem to have helped but some sites are still slow particularly pogo games(my wife)pogo.com loads up fine it's the popup game windows that have the problem. thanks for any help.

I've just started having this problem and its killing me.

I have 2 computers. My server is running windows 2000 server, and the secondary computer is running xp Pro.

The internet was working fine on my secondary computer, and then one day, it just started becoming slow, and it would not load pages (images wouldn't fully load, some pages wouldn't load at all). If i type in a url in the address bar for IE it would load the page quickly (probably from cache), but then proceeding to click links would cause "Page not found" or "timed out" errors.

I know that i can reach these sites, i ping them and get normal responses. It seems that IE is just not displaying them properly or something. The internet on my server computer works perfectly fine.

I have 2 nic cards in the server computer, 1 recieving the cable modem, and one receiving a LAN cable from my Hub.

Anybody have any ideas? Like i said, it worked on my secondary cmputer before. Also, i hooked up another computer to my hub and the internet was working fine, and then i installed Service Pack 3 and it started crapping out like mentioned above.

This is driving me NUTS!! ahhh. please help.

Thanks

Answer:Web pages wont load or load completely

Do you have more then 1 computer connected to your modem/router? If so, does this happen on them? If not, can you connect a separate one (ex: friend's laptop) to test?

Normally when you get errors like this it's best to rule out a problem at the modem/router and provider before going crazy over trying to fix a problem (that may not exist) on your PC(s).

Also just a couple of other questions:

Who is your internet provider (ISP)?
What connection type do they use (Cable/DSL/Fiber/Fixed Wireless/Mobile Wireless)?
What is the make and model of your router and modem?

Answer:Some Pages wont load at all and others load fine

Try running a ping to the sites that have trouble loading to see what kind of connection times you are looking at. I would also run a tracert to those sites to see if there are any places dropping the connection.

Answer:Doesn't Always Connect And Pages Don't Always Load Or Load Right

Hello,

Sorry for the delay, this forum is very busy right now.

There is a program from a company called SearchHelp, Inc. on this computer. Sentry at Home or Sentry Remote. From the information I can gather on the Internet, this is a legitimate application aimed at allowing parents control over their children's web surfing habits. Judging by some of the lines in this log it uses a proxy server and several other techniques to filter internet content. This might explain why you have trouble connecting to some web sites.

If you are the owner of this computer and installed this program, I would suggest disabling it temporarily to see whether your problems persist.

Whether they do or not, post a fresh HijackThis log along with the results of this test.

Just started two-days-ago. Mozilla 1.5.0.7 and IE 6.0.2900. I did a system restore back for two weeks to no avail as "nothing changed."

Mozilla and IE, through Mozilla, either takes long to load or no load. If it does load does so without .gifs or some links. Some links are broken. Some will load the login page fine then freeze on the next page.

The perplexing part is that it affects only a few pages but not the whole site: my hompage, Nasdaq.com; ebay.com (after the login page), espn.com takes a while, 240 sec, to load then only partially load.

Network fine, signal strength fine, I've killed Symantec, no difference. Switched to Windows firewall, no difference. Killed Adblock, no diff. Ran Spyware Doc, nothing; NAV scan, nothing.

I'm lost. Anyone have an idea?

Thanks in advance.

Ive been having the same problem. Im with Virgin and they were useless with the advice they gave. Try reinstalling your modem. My line has recently been upgraded to 8.1meg from 2.2 and i think the modem hasnt quite got the hang of it being this quick yet. It seems to work for a while but my line keeps changing. At first it ran at 7.6 and the problems with pages started so i reinstalled the drivers from the disk and it shot straight upto 8.1. Its been a pain for the past few days with some sits(even my homepage of Virgin) so i reinstalled it again and all the pages now come up.

Looking for help.

I have a good network connection, but I am currently unable to browse the internet due to an Error 12029 (HTTP connectivity error). I can connect via HTTPS but the diagnostic tool states

"HTTP: Error 12029 connecting to www.microsoft.com. A connection with the server could not be established"

I have recently uninstalled Norton Antivirus and am only using Microsoft XP firewall.

Any advice?

Hey everyone, Hoping for the community to help me figure out a problem of mine. Trying to connect my X230 to internet through a new router (Asus - security type WPA-Personal) and although the laptop connects without a problem (98% signal strength), internet pages are not loading. The diagnosis tool isn't finding anything and I could add that other laptops do not have the same problem when connecting to this router. My tech level is rather low so I don't know what more I could add to help you guys get a clear view of the situation/problem so if more info is needed, let me know. I won't be far. Thanks a lot, Patrick

Answer:(X230) Connected to Wifi with excellent signal but unable to load internet pages:

Anyone? I could add that the laptop runs of Windows 7 and the integrated WiFi Wireless LAN adapter is a Intel Centrino Advanced-N 6205. Finally, the router is set on WPA security. It may be a coincidence, but this is the first time that I tried to connect to such a security level and also the first time it's not working. Thx again for your help.

Hi, whenever I'm on the Internet, sometimes the web pages don't load and I have to keep going back and forth in the hope of them working and after a while, they do work. This is because there seems to be something wrong with my Domain Name Server.

After reading the BleepingComputer Tutorials, I think the web pages don't load because I'm not using the IP Addresses of the web pages I want to navigate to.

I've already used Avast! and MalwareBytes to scan for any Malware, Viruses or Spyware. Everything seems to be fine.

Please help!

Answer:DNS Server Error - Can't load web pages sometimes

Are you using a router?Reset the router to its default configuration. This can be done by inserting something tiny like a paper clip end or pencil tip into a small hole labeled "reset" located on the back of the router. Press and hold down the small button inside until the lights on the front of the router blink off and then on again (usually about 10 seconds). If you don?t know the router's default password, you can look it up HERE.

Hi Guys,

Ive been having a random BSOD episode lately and it seems to be getting more frequent!

I replaced the old 4Gb (2x2Gb) to 2x4GB RAM sticks a while ago to see if it was memory related, but the BSOD have continued.
I have also installed an OCZ Vertex 3 SSD to help speed up the system somewhat,
BSOD were happening randomly before the SSD upgrade (but very rare)

I can see not trigger for the BSOD to occur, today i turned the machine on... it ran for about 10 minutes just on the desktop (no software running other than normal startup stuff), and then when i woke it out of screensaver - Bam.. BSOD.

Computer is updated via windows update always, and i believe im running the latest BIOS version

NO overclocking undertaken!

any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you in advance for your help!

Attached: SF zip file as requested and also a dump from bluescreen view of ALL BSOD it found.

Answer:BSOD - Under no load - Error 0x00000109 Random times

- Do a memtest check. RAM - Test with Memtest86+
Pay attention to point #3, run it preferably 8 passes
If you mentioned you just replaced your RAM, then it could be your Motherboard

Some websites, for example:
http://www.colonialfirstate.com.au/ and
http://postbillpay.com.au

do not load in my newly installed IE7.

The error message says:

This program cannot display the webpage

Most likely causes:
You are not connected to the Internet.
The website is encountering problems.
There might be a typing error in the address.

What you can try:
Check your Internet connection. Try visiting another website to make sure you are connected.
Retype the address.
Go back to the previous page.
More information

But the same websites load OK in Firefox.

I have fiddled around with the security settings etc., but still no joy.

I did not have such a problem with IE6.

I also use Maxthon Browser from time to time. But since that is based on IE engine, even that will not show some websites.

Can somebody suggest a solution?

The only Firewall that I use is WinPatrol. I clean up Malware once in a while with AdAware SE.

Answer:Websites Will Not Load in IE, But Will Load in Firefox

Hello, This is not an answer to your question, I just wanted to say that 'WinPatrol' is not a firewall.

When I am on the internet and just looking at regular sites like yahoo or local news sites using IE I get strange error messages like:

"Sorry, we couldn't find http://%24pixelhost/serve/fb/pdc%3FuatFilter%3Dtrue"

I get different messages but it always starts Sorry, we couldn't find http://......

The page is mostly loaded then I get the message and a list of suggested sites. Its not always pixelhost but this is the most recent error I recieved. It almost seems to be random because I can not make it happen but it happens enough to be annoying.

Any suggestions would be great.

Answer:Web pages don't fully load before error message

This looks like DNS redirection.

The concept is whenever a webserver reports Error 404 (page not found), many ISPs
will intercept the Error 404 and reproduce what they think is a user friendly help reply
which clearly it AINT!

Suggest you change the DNS settings in your router or manually on the PC itself
to 8.8.8.8 as the first DNS entry - - this is the google DNS
and a request for http://www.googleme.com/ will reply

Code:
Server not found

Firefox can't find the server at www.googleme.com
For page content like scripts and graphics, the missing webresource is just ignored

Hello there =)A friend of mine built me a computer in September, and its never had a problem before, but over the last week or so it kept cutting out. First it cut out into blue screen while playing skyrim. Then it did it just while surfing the internet, and today I left it on the desktop to see if it would do it without running any programmes and it went to blue screen after only 5 minutes. I tried to boot up the PC just now and it didn't even load windows. The computer was on, but my monitor wasn't picking anything up!The error message said something like 'windows has shut down to protect your computer from further damage', I can't remember exactly what it said, and now I can't even start up the PC to double check! Any help would be greatly appreciated as I worked my arse off to buy this computer and I was just about to complete skyrim! Thanks,Rosie. X

A few days ago I noticed that some of webpages weren't loading correctly. It was shortly after updating Java. Web pages that I visited like Yahoo, Adobe, and Facebook started to load plain text (no graphics of any sort). The Microsoft site wouldn't load at all until I read instructions somewhere on this forum about enabling secure sites. Most other sites loaded perfectly so I figured it had to be some sort of malware that was blocking me from certain sites. I ran a lot of scans using several anti-malware and anti-virus programs. I ended up finding about 3 trojans that were removed. That didn't solved my problem though. I got fed up and decided to reformat my computer hoping that whatever was wrong with it would get fixed, it didn't. Since I formatted my computer I tried updating Windows but I kept getting an error: "WindowsUpdate_8024402C". Wouldn't work in Normal mode even after I followed the instructions given to solve the error. Figured I'd give it a shot in Safe Mode with Networking, but it still doesn't work. Now I can't access the Microsoft website again. *sigh* I've tried pinging it but my requests keep getting timed out.

After reformatting I uninstalled all the bloatware, and reinstalled updated versions of Java, Adobe Flash Player, and Shockwave (thru majorgeeks as I couldn't download them directly from their sites). I've ran more scans but nothing comes up. I'm thinking maybe there's something wrong with my winsock2 but I'm not touching it O_o. I forgo... Read more

Hey Guys!

So, I've run into a bit of a problem. For the past couple of days my Internet Connection seems to be acting strange.
Sometimes i can load pages almost instantly, for example google or wikipedia, and a minute later i have a loading time of above 30 seconds for the same page.
On the other Hand, when I start a large Download and it has to run for an hour or more, it wont abort, even when I can't connect to other Websites in the meantime.

The weird thing is that this happens on every Device in my Network. I've done a ping test in this little "downtime" and half the packages timed out.
Wireshark shows that somehow I keep sending out packages but for like 15 - 20 seconds I get no response at all.

I really don't know what to make of this and would appreciate some help^^
Thanks in Advance!

Hi everyone. I've got a very strange problem that just began happening out of no where. When browsing the net I can no longer go to websites such as www.zone.com, I can only check my e-mail when I'm lucky and the website decides to load without displaying "the page cannot be displayed" error message. More than half of the images on everyone webpage display as not loadable little X marks, even on this website. When attempting to open random websites after searching on google for example, more than 3/4 of the web pages I click on give me the "page cannot be displayed" msg instantly without even trying to load. This problem just began recently out of no where. Windows firewall has always been off and never had problems untill now. I run Aluria Security Center and have never had problems. I also have tried adding these sites to my trusted list and it does absolutely nothing. Hope you guys can give me a solution. Thanks ahead of time.

Answer:Pages don't load, images don't load?

My computer is doing the same thing. Out of nowhere, there's a whole ton of webpages that don't work. I went to read my comics yesterday morning and Yahoo news didn't load. I'm having the same problem in both IE and in Firefox so I'm guessing it's a problem with the computer, not the browser. But I have no idea how to go about fixing it.

I've posted this on several COD2 specific forums and gotten no results. Decided to try posting here since this is the only place I've gotten good replies to technical problems before. About 6 months ago I wiped my hard drive, and when I reinstalled COD2, The game no longer worked properly. While it used to load maps in under a minute, The loading bar now moves extremely slowly, taking over 5 minutes to complete. Most of the time, the bar will go about 99% of the way, then freeze, and about a minute later an error message will pop up saying "Server Disconnected". I first guessed that my install CD was somehow scratched and caused the errors, so I then installed a friends version of the game, keeping my CDKey, but the error is still there. It will happen on almost any server, regardless of version, mods, or other factors. Anyone know how to help?

Answer:Call of Duty 2: Very Long Load Times, Server Disconnected Error

I would think that as it does not occur on every server, perhaps it is a net issue..

what kind of programs do you have running in the background?

Hi All,

I just booted up a brand new PC this morning with Windows 10 installed. I can connect to the internet via WIFI but when using any of my 2 browsers (Edge & Firefox) neither of them will load any pages. Edge did initially after a few mins of loading but now won't at all.

When I troubleshoot (right clicking the Wifi icon) I get this error message: "The device or resource (wpad.net) is not set up to accept connections on port "The World Wide Web (HTTP)"

I tried changing DNS settings (didn't work) So I found this solution posted by Microsoft:

a. Open Internet Explorer 10 desktop version.
b. Click on Tools and select Internet Options.
c. Click on the Connections tab and click on LAN Settings button.
d. Uncheck the option: Automatically detect settings, then click on OK to exit the window.
e. Click on OK again to save the settings and exit the Internet Options window.
f. Restart the computer and check if the issue is resolved.

I couldn't find these options in Microsoft Edge so I opened Internet Options in Windows 10 and did it there... but no joy. I've also disabled proxies in Firefox which had no effect.

I'm on a UPC Horizon Box, WIFI connection, 300mps with a strong connection (full bars). I'm typing this on my other laptop which has no connections issues at all.

Any ideas on how I can resolve this?? It's driving me nuts!!

When I start the game "DiRT", press enter, the message like that, saying, that load profile is aborted, appears. Why? What I did wrong? Is this a bug in the game? I dont want to create a new profile. I wanna go on, but I can't because of this stupid issue.

Im running windows XP SP2. 2.33 GHz / 1,98 GB of RAM / NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTS

I have a patch 1.2 installed to my DiRT.

Hope somebody will answer.

Cheers,

I have a NB100 And when it trys to boot i get Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt: System32\Drivers\Ntfs.sys

I have connected a DVD drive with the product recovery disc GMR400882EN0 inside it and powered on, on booting i keep F12 pressed and I get the options for setting it to boot from HD FDD CD/DVD USB Memory, I set it to boot from CD/DVD

When it loads it gets to loading RAM image I get Error 32768 File PEBASE ISO Could Not Load.

I am suspecting faulty recovery disc? and a new one is 29.99? But the laptop is under warranty but they told me to do this.

My daughter has a Asus 904HD and once she had a problem... She had none of the poor support of go and do it yourself... Asus sent a courier very fast-confirmed pick by text-fixed-delivered back confirmed drop off by text within 5 days!!

Answer:NB100 Recovery Disc wont load - Error 32768 File PEBASE could not load

>I am suspecting faulty recovery disc? and a new one is 29.99? But the laptop is under warranty but they told me to do this.

I doubt it?s a faulty recovery disk.
The error message: missing or corrupt: System32\Drivers\Ntfs.sys could be caused by faulty HDD or another hardware component.
In your case I recommend contacting the Toshiba ASP for hardware check and new OS installation. The notebook is under warranty (as you suggested in the posting above) and therefore everything should be done for free because it?s covered by warranty

Bye

Hi,

I have used Registry Cleaner to clean my Windows XP registry. After having removed invalid file extensions I suddently get many pop-up windows with the error "Unable to load btrez.dll, DANISH".

The file btrez.dll has not been removed. It is some bluetooth driver - don't know to which device.

What can I do about that - except for role-back of my registry (but that was not the point of using a registry cleaner).?

Michael

Answer:Error: Unable to load btrez.dll ...

I am guessing this is a laptop with bluetooth. Registry cleaner has been known to remove some extensions that cause bluetooth problems. I would go to the computer manufacturer website and update your bluetooth drivers.

Hi there,

I had a thread for this over in malware b/c i thought that was the problem but it clearly isn't a virus or malware issue.

Here's a quick recap:
My laptop was working perfectly fine a few days ago. I turned it on and windows takes 1+ hour to load. When it's finally up all i can open is msconfig using command prompt and task manager using alt-ctrl-del. In task manager it says my cpu usage is at 100%. The system idle is at 0 and taskmgr.exe is at a constantly changing number between 60-99%. The other things on the list have random percents popping up as well between 0 and 20%. When highlighting an image name, the blue bar constantly is flashing.

When i ran scandisk it came up with 10000 bad sectors..so we thought it was a hard drive problem. I installed a new one and partitioned it. After that on the windows xp clean install it took 24 or so hours to install...when that was done CPU was still @100% and system idle at 0% and took 30+ minutes to start windows.

Ran memtest as suggested and it came out fine after running for an hour or so with 4000% clean (no errors)

Thus I come to you humbled by this problem...I appreciate your time and efforts.

-Mitch

Answer:Windows take 1+ hour to load and [email protected]%

This may sound incredibly stupid, but it could be overheating. Make sure the fans aren't blocked, clean the fans, then prop up the laptop with a stand so that it isn't lying flush against a table.

I'm no expert, but I had a similar problem with the CPU Usage @ 100%. After going through a million things I stumbled on to the solution by simply noticing that I was only having a problem when my notebook was placed on a table - as opposed to resting on my leg where it could vent better.

Google Chrome has become slow to load and then it is very slow loading web pages and navigating round web sites.
From previous experience I thought this may be due to a virus but Malwarebytes has found nothing.
Can you help please.
Hope this is in the right place-if not please advise.

Answer:Google Chrome slow to load and slow to load web pages

Further info.
Noticed 2 instances of msiexec.exe running in Task Manager.
Googled this and found that if genuine it is part of Windows installer
but can also be a virus.
Did a search and found MSIEXEC.EXE-2F8A8CAE.pf
Googled this and found it is probably Malware.
If so can you help me get rid of it please

Hi,

Interesting problem but so far unable to find a solution.
Dell GX1 Windows NT machine connected to a domain.

I am unable to log into the machine (local) by using the local username and pswd. Error message states "operating system unable to load profile. Contact Network Administrator (5). All that happens is the login screen just keeps reappearing.

However, I can log in locally from other machines with the same userid and password.

When trying to login to the domain with with the userid and passwd, some "unable to load profile" error message appears.

But I am able to login to the domain from another machine with same userid and pswd with no problem.

Now, either locally or on the domain, I can login with an administrative account with no problem.

It just seems that from one particular machine, the local and domain login does not work.

I've deleted user profiles, expect for Adm, All User and Default Users, hoping that recreating a fresh profile would work. It doesn't.

If anyone else has experienced this problem and has a solution, I would appreciate hearing about it.

Thanks,

David

Answer:Unable to load user profile error

Check the permissions on the computer. I had a problem like that where the permissions had been changed on the profiles folder and the profile could not be loaded.

Hi everyone!

I am trying to install Windows XP Pro [it has neither service packs included] onto a new build and I keep receiving the same messege:

A problem has been detected and windows has shut down to prevent damage to your computer. Check to see if there is adequate disk space. Blah, blah, blah!

Included in the messege are stop numbers etc.

I am wondering if this is due to using the Maxtor SATA HD. I noticed in the Maxtor manual it says I must first load a driver? Says I need to load driver onto a floppy disc and do it that way?

I am not even sure where to find this driver. Is it on my ECS motherboard disc? Is this truly the problem?

Please, can somebody help me?

Desperate for some understanding.

Freddy

Answer:Unable to load XP Pro due to stop/error messege

Hmmm... that doesn't sound like the issue you are describing. I don't think it will BSOD because it can't find the driver for the sata drive. You would just get a blue screen letting you know that no driver was found, etc etc.

I would suggest going thru your system and making sure everything is hooked up, seated properly, etc etc

hey my computer is not working when i reset it it gives me an error that says "userinit.exe - application error" then i press ok and it only shows my desktop but nothing else then i press ctrl+alt+del and it says that "the administrator has disabled task manager" which i think has to do with the userinit.exe failing or else i would just run explorer.exe. it also gives me the error if i start it in safemode.

please help

Answer:error with userinit.exe unable to load desktop

your going to need to boot to the XP cd and then go into the recovery console. From there, run sfc /scannow. That should allow you to recover whatever it is that went wrong.

I hope anyway..
Good luck

Received the following error upon startup:

"Your SQL Server installation is either corrupt or has been tampered with (unable to load SQLBOOT.DLL). Please uninstall then re-run setup to correct this problem".

I'm not clear how a SQL Server item got on my computer -- it's not required for the work or needs I have.

I've attempted to remove the item from ADD/REMOVE PROGRAMS from CONTROL PANEL but the item does not appear.

Can anyone assist with a solution? Thanks!

Answer:SQL Server Error - Unable to Load SQLBOOT.DLL

Hi farefield. Yes, I have seen this error too. You may try the repair corrupt sql server sqlboot.dll application, it quickly fixes database corruption problems. At least, it worked for me

My computer went out when there was a power circuit overload that tripped the breaker. After that windows gave an error "LSASS - Unable to Load Component ?????" error. I should have ran the System File Checker as everyone in Google recommends, but where I was I didn't have an internet connection to look it up. I started the Windows XP in-place reinstall instead, but now when Windows Setup loads it gives the same LSASS error except it doesn't mention any file, it merely says "lsass.exe: unable to load component" at the top of the error window, and the dialog says, sic: "the application has failed to start because." No matter what I do, it will keep popping up. Also Windows Setup won't complete, it just reboots the computer. Spinrite did find one bad sector on the drive, so I will redo the in-place reinstall. Does anyone have any ideas how to fix this in the meantime?
