Opening Email Client Via Email Link Problem

Question: Opening Email Client Via Email Link Problem

Here is the problem: I have my email client (PocoMail) set as my default email client. It shows up as default client in the "Default Program section" in IE7.
When I click on a email link, whether it's in another program or on a website, my email client doesn't open the compose window with the address entered BUT IE7 starts and opens about 80 windows which need to be killed with Task Manager. By the way, this has nothing to do with PocoMail because it also happens when Thunderbird is set as default.

I am stumped. Any ideas?

Thanks,
Mentallo

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Re: Is there a simple email client without all the extras like opening a new email ac

Hi

Sadly nothing is easy I'm afraid when using Yahoo webmail unless you have the paid account, Live Mail and Gmail are the better free email accounts, but try the below.....

You can use your Yahoo email address with the Windows Live Email Client, or try Thunderbird as its free too.

BUT note that to setup POP3 account with an email client application you may need a Yahoo Plus account which is a paid for account over the free email account. But you can try Ypops! to set the free email up with POP3 access. Thunderbird + Ypops instructions HERE

Is it possible to set my online Comcast email client as my default email client in Vista? If so, any explanation on how this is done would be appreciated.
I just spent a few minutes online with a rep. from Comcast who couldn't answer the question.

Not sure about Incredimail but in OE go to Tools>>Options.

I got a spreadsheet from my boss earlier today and was putting in some new numbers. I forgot that I had opened the file directly from my email client (thunderbird). Anyway, I finished up hit save and closed Excel. The email still has the old copy, where did Excel save the new one too? All searches (including for files modified this week) were fruitless.

Did I just loose my data?

If I recieve an email with a(blue hyperlink) I can open it ok. But when I try to forward this the hyperlink will not open on the forwarded email. Any ideas guys?

Answer:Hyper link not opening on a forwarded email

Re my #5What happens if you send a brand new email with a link. Does that work with your recipients?Normally I would say there is no real reason why you need to change to WLM. However, by chance, doing so might happen to fix your issue. It cured a problem when we had a Vista laptop (unread emails were not getting marked as such). So, I'm tempted to so "go for it" because email issues can often be tricky to fix. One of the email senders gives me links to posts on a website, and when I click on the link in the email message, Firefox always interrupts reaching the page and gives a gray bar at the top with an "Allow" button and a small x next to it.  I click on "Allow" and I can visit the page.  I do not want this to be necessary.  I want to see the page linked from the email message and not need to click the Allow button.  How do I do this?  Where in what options of Firefox do I use?  This has been happening for more than two years, always with up-to-date firefox and Windows.

I maybe stirring up an old subject here.

Though until here recently I haven't been having any issues with the browser and email software I am currently using. Netscape Navigator 9.0 for browsing and Netscape 7.2 for mail.

Though here in the past month or two I have noticed an increasing number of times where I could click on a email address to compose the recipient a message and the email software wouldn't open or open a new composer window.

Is there something I can do to correct this problem?

I looked in to the various other browsers that are available i.e. Internet Explorer, AOL, Firefox, etc. Since Netscape Navigator is no longer available, and the only one that does this is AOL's. Though there are too many other things with AOL's browser that I personally don't care for.

Is there a reason that every one is going away from this function?

I remember when the 7.X versions of Netscape and would have a small tool bar in the bottom of window where if you wanted to access your email you had that ease from your browser and you could assign which email software your using.

Answer:Composer window not opening when clicking on email link

For email I replaced Netscape 7.2 with Thunderbird (now at 2.0.0.16) last spring and only wish I had done so sooner. Both were/are developed on the same base, so are similar except that Thunderbird has new features and was never corrupted by AOL.

The first time you launch Thunderbird after installing it you will have the opportunity to import all your Netscape 7.2 "stuff," making the transition pretty painless.

For browsing a year to two ago I replaced Netscape 8 with Firefox (now at 3.0.1). Similar to above, both were/are developed on the same base, are similar and the transition is pretty painless.

If you want a suite (email, browser, html composer) I think Seamonkey would be a good choice. Same base as Netscape/Thunderbird/Firefox, so would be familiar look to you.

Hello, I always use web-based email via the browser at home. I do not use an email client(well in the office we have Outlook). I'd like to use Thunderbird at home with a Gmail account that can be used by the kids. Now I am using Avira IS 2012 and would like to make it scan emails through it's mailguard component. I have seen Thunderbird work with Avast IS on my brother's pc but I see that for it to scan all emails the SSL/TSL should be deactivated. I was asking the tech guys at the office about email clients, digital certificates etc and they only remarked "google it"...wow... So I came here....Now my questiosn are: a. Is it safe to disable SSL/TSL in an email client? In the office we have that(with Norton Enterprise) and I see an indicator at the bottom of the email message that it was scanned by Norton. b. Can there be an application that can allow me to have SSL/TSL at the same time have Avira scan my emails...? I searched google and found out that in Avira it also has to be disabled to let it scan all emails. c. SSL/TSL is encryption right..? Does not using encryption in email okay..? I mean at home. In the office it's important but at home...opinions please..d. What ports for POP3 IMAP SMTP should I allow Thunderbird to use In the firewall( I use Comodo). If Thunderbird wants connections via other ports other than the default ones...should I allow it or not..?e. Can an email client be run inside a sandbox? Is it sane enough or crazy..? Just... Read more

Answer:Thunderbrid email client, Comodo Email Certificates, Avira IS 2012 questions

I would highly recommend that you keep TLS/SSL enabled this makes sure that your password and user credentials are not sent in the clear.

if the AV needs to have this disabled then its not a good AV..

The ports are on the setup page for Gmail: http://kb.mozillazine.org/Using_Gmail_with_Thunderbird_and_Mozilla_Suite

Digital Certs are expensive to create and use, and only vital for businesses and not home users.

I use T-Bird (v 31.7.0) On 2 occasions now, I have sent emails, with Attachments, to a friend in the UK, who is running HOTMAIL.On each occasion the Attachment is OK, but the message I sent with ti increases it?s Font size, line by line, until it is unreadable. Two 3 or 4 characters per line??and sections of the email are repeated. 4 or 5 lines, then back to the top. They are blaming me for a Virus?..but I am thinking the problem is their end, with a stuck key, or similar. Any ideas ?

Answer:thunderbird email change font size in hotmail email client

I don't know what is causing this but pretty sure "what it isn't".1. It is not the usual behaviour of a virus.2. It is not a stuck key their end. Keys don't come into the equation for received emails.Try sending an attachment to yourself and some other contact who will co-operate. That way you should be able to narrow down which end is responisible for the problem.Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks

My email client, desktop program PostBox (for Win) has been slowed since I installed BD TS2016 (I'm quite sure this is the reason as it was very fast before, and slowed immediately after...)

I also run WebRoot AV (which does not scan email as per their documentation) and HitmanAlertPro (which could also be affecting my email client, but I uninstalled it to test this somewhat small chance given its just an anti-exploit, and it doesn't seem to have affected it, the client is still slow).

1. I would LIKE BD to scan my email as of course having AV w/o scanning email could in many ways be pointless given email can be a deadly vector for heavy malware.

2. But I don't want my client to be slow. It's not horrible, and I suppose I could tolerate it (basically deleting messages, loading new messages, and the program responsiveness overall, is a bit sluggish compared with its normal instantaneous response)

3. Is there a way to configure email scanning differently? Or should the program NOT be slowing my client noticeably in general, and is this behavior indicative of something being wrong?

I'm sure BD users will be able to comment on whether it slows their email or not given they use a desktop client like Outlook, Postbox, Thunderbird, etc.

Thanks!

Answer:BitDefender Email Scanning Mechanism? Performance Issues w/ email Client

In the past I used BD TS exclusively with OutLook as my e-mail client and had no such issues, have you tried, or open to try switching clients to see if it's something about Postbox that BD TS disagrees with ?

unlike Win 7, it does not open my browser, open my YAHOO email link, then PASTE the email address in that link in the COMPOSE box. ONE STEP, IT DOES ALL THE WORK.

Win 10 ANOTHER MATTER: IT starts some window/PAGE/APP labeled as "INBOX YAHOO" that is a want-to-be email agent.
I DONT WANT the inbox but to send an email which it has no commands to to so.
So, I have to:
copy /cut the address as it did plug it in its TO: box.
Start my browser,
Start Yahoo
Paste the address into Yahoo. then can rock & roll..... LOTS of wasted efforts ..

Have tried to get help from SUPPORT.MICROSOFT.COM" = Useless.

If you used Win 7, had to use a link for an email instead of the "words" ..., "COPY-ABLY ADDRESS" you may know the problem.

Of course, if not a link, you copy/paste yourself, but those "links" are "cute" but not practical for Win 10 they HIDE the actual email address.

Why Win 10 wanted to change that I have no clue as Win 7 does this problem, PERFECT.
Why Win 10 wants to be a "go between" which makes us use its app and is useless, and has no ability to send the message? I have no clue either. Maybe it was "busywork" for the programmer.

ANY one fix this double, triple work Win 10 gave us?

Answer:Windows 10 EMAIL APP when I clik on a email LINK in a web site/page,

I don't know myself (but see below for what I've found for you) how that should work with browser based email, which I only use if I have a problem. I can confirm it works properly with an email client:

There's the hyperlink on the page, and Thunderbird correctly launched with the email address.

You may wish to check how your email client (browser) is specified- and how that protocol is handled.
See Mailto

As I say, I've no idea myself how that would work with a browser.

A search for
mailto yahoo

Make Yahoo Mail the default email in Windows or your web browser

When you select a primary "mailto" email in your browser, that email program will be the one that opens whenever you click a "contact us" link. You can change your browser or Windows settings so that Yahoo Mail is the one that automatically opens.

I hope I am posting in the correct forum.... I wasn't sure if I should post in the "am I infected" forum or here.

Anyway, I received an email from a trusted contact with a WhatsApp link in it, saying "You have new messages". I clicked it (accidentally, not that it matters) and thought it was just a dodgy email trying to sell fat-busting remedies. Then, immediately, my email was hijacked and started sending similar "WhatsApp" emails out to addresses I knew as well as other random ones.

I changed my email password and this seems to have cured that problem of emails being sent out. However I'm not sure if anything else has been put on my computer, so I'm hoping someone can help me check that it's all ok, and if not, help me get rid of anything bad my laptop has caught. Also whether you can advise if my other passwords are likely to have been compromised, as I do use a password manager (note most of my passwords are different to the email password I had when this happened). I also restored to a previous restore point, in the hope that would also help fix anything.

I'm running Windows 8.1, 64-bit. Windows firewall is on (and has been the whole time).
I scanned my computer using NOD32 Antivirus 8 and nil threats were located. Then I ran the system restore function to roll back to a point from yesterday.
I then came here and followed the instructions and the FRST64 logs are as follows:

Hidy ho all,

I wanted to set up an email client that acted a bit like my phone handles email. Downloads the new ones, lets me choose what to do with them (read them, delete them, mark them as special or something) but then simply uploads the instructions to the server without actually deleting them from the server. Is there an email client that does this?

Uh, oh, my session had timed out.   Anyway, I have Dell Dimension 4700.   This computer was formatted, by a computer tech, about two months ago, and Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition put in.   Before that I had Windows XP Professional.   And before that I had the Home Edition again.Anyway, the File, Send page or link by email would always work.  Say, I had Yahoo Mail in the Tools, Internet Options, Programs, Email Section, when I would go to File, Send page or link, it would always take me right to my Yahoo mail; or if I had Hot Mail in the Email section, it would take me to my Hot Mail. So, do not undersand why I get message boxes now.  Yesterday was the first time I had tried the File, Send, since Home Edition put in.Have to scoot to bed now, but will check sometime tomorrow to see if a reply.   Thank you for your feedback.

I've been running XP for some years and recently set up Win 7 on a new SSD. In XP and using Opera browser, if I clicked on an web page's email link, my email client (Sylpheed) would open with the address inserted. With Win 7 and the email defaults set, it won't. Instead, it always returns an "Internal communication error" page (example link: Contact Us | PCWorld). Any ideas what else to try? Thanks,

Below are screenshots of my Win 7 email defaults and Opera preferences setting. One thing I'm not sure about, if it's at all relevant, is where Opera is picking up the default application from. In XP, it picked up Opera email as the default. The Other Application file location shown is exactly the same in both, except for the drive letter.

Answer:Email settings not recognized when using web page email link

In the middle picture of your post it shows the normal way the window opens with "use my current...". Now select your choice "Opera Next" for browser and email, "ok" out. That should fix it, hopefully.

After opening an email, when I try to open a heading to read the article, my PC freezes and I have a hand with pointing finger instead of a cursor arrow. The only way to revert it is to Alt+Con+Del then end task. My email then closes - back to windows-and I have to reopen my email. Any ideas? It's a nuisance because generally they are newspaper articles I want to read.

I was a big fan and user of Agent by Forte when I had my old WinXP Pro 32bit rig (which is in the big-dump-in-the-sky).

When I installed Agent on my new Win7 Pro 64bit rig and set it as default, sending eMail would NOT work.

Through week of troubleshooting I found out there IS a problem with using MIME under Win7. So I went back and tried to UNCHECK the MIME box in default settings [Control Panel] [Default Programs] but I could NOT.

Tried uninstalling Agent and reinstalling it, but was no help, AND all my original Agent settings came back. So somewhere in Win7 the settings are kept and not cleared when you uninstall Agent.

I would really like to go back to Agent, so can anyone help find out how to clear ALL saved Agent data on Win7 or how to reset default settings.

Hi,

Im just looking for some advice on how to fix a problem im having, when trying to setup my new business email address on thunderbird email client.

Ive had a website designed & an email address supplied with it. The web designer gave me all the details to setup the email account. Everytime I try to set it up, I get an error message saying "thunderbird failed to find the settings to your email account".

Ive entered all the details I have : IMAP, POP3 & SMTP port numbers, Incoming & Outgoing Servers, along with my username & password.

I told the web designer the problem & he tried to setup the account on his pc using thunderbird. He said the account worked fine & he sent some test emails to confirm that it worked ok.

I have also tried using the free email client the comes with windows 7 & im having the same problem.

Could there be something that im unaware of, blocking the email setup ?

Im currently using norton 360 antivirus software & ive tried looking at these settings, but im not really sure what im doing.

All suggestions welcome,

Thanks.

Answer:Problem adding new email account to client

Check under Tools > Account Settings > "Your Website E-Mail" > Server Settings make sure that the server settings are correct, have the website designer give you the settings he used to send the test emails.

Instead this action causes several instances (up to 5) of IE6 to invoke and then the Op Sys (WinME) hangs until I use Ctrl-Alt-Del to end the erroneously opened IE tasks. I thought maybe it was that MSN mail was not my default email client so I used the proceedure to make MSN mail my default instead of OE6 but each time I returned to the options to see if it had changed it still says my default client is OE. Interestingly, if I envoke the MSN explorer and go to my MSN email inbox I can send and receive my email perfectly. This machine has been up and running since last October. I do not know if the problem has always existed or started more recently since I don't often click on "send us email" buttons.
I have three other machines similarly set up and none of them exhibit this problem.
WinMe, MSN Premium, and MSN messenger 6 all are up to date and current.
McAfee AV is on and up to date.
CounterSpy and Spybot are up to date and actively running.
Firefox 1.0.2 is my default browser

Answer:Solved: Clicking "send us an email" hangs system and will not open my email client.

Specifically if using the portable form of Opera Mail, the mail client available from portableapps.com.

I tried looking at many articles from internet searches but found nothing telling where to find the folder holding the email messages for the email client.  My copy of portable Opera Mail is on a usb flash drive.  I have tried looking through the folders for the application but still do not know how to recognize any email messages.

Answer:Where on desktop is email for email client?

portableapps.com.

You do understand that downloading apps like this from most 3rd party sites poses all sorts of security risks, Remember this, That software while it was made by WhoEver has now been modified by somebody, How was it modified, Who did it, What else did they put in it? I may be wrong here however I also think may be against most software developers TOS to use modified software like this.

FYI only.
While Opera is free some sites and some people have used " the making of a app portable" on paid for software to bypass  having to pay for the software. I used to do just that a long time ago. I now know and understand why it is bad.

Eg.
Making XXXXbytes premium into a portable application. While creating the portable you use a genuine key or "other" methods to activate Then compile it as portable with the activation in place, Now anybody with XXXXbytes portable has a free premium copy instead. That's software piracy. And Theft.

I was messing with an Android emulator for win pc. When I del the emulator it took out files for Dreammail client and the wifi. I had to wipe the [C] drive partition and reinstall everything. I did save the Dreammails data files to my [D] hard drive. But since I couldn't do a backup from inside Dreammail because Dreammail wouldn't open. I manually copied the data files them self's to my [D] hard drive. I reinstalled Dreammail. Dreammail can't read the files copied that way. Is there a way to manually copy the emails and contact list to a regular txt file. 1 of the raw data files is 29113751985.dmd.

I started having a problem with emails in outlook express that has a link to click on to go to the web. It will not bring anything up and I have to copy and paste the address into the internet explorer line to be able to see the site.
Do you have an idea of what the problem could be?

Answer:Problem with email that have link to web

Welcome to TSF

Try this:

1. Go to Start / Run
2. Then enter regsvr32 urlmon.dll
3. Click Ok when finished
4. If that single change does not resolve the problem, repeat the process by running regsrv32 with the following dll files.

* Shdocvw.dll
* Msjava.dll
* Actxprxy.dll
* Oleaut32.dll
* Mshtml.dll
* Browseui.dll
* Shell32.dll (Windows XP and Windows 2000 only)

Hi Folks

I'd suggest for the next few days at least to use a different EMAIL client than outlook until the whole sorry mess of the current worldwide malware thing has been fixed.

1) APPLY all the security patches (should always be a given anyway).

2) Set your email to IMAP rather than POP3 so it doesn't get stored on Local folders -- in any case IMAP is a good idea as you can access email from other devices such as phones, tablets, other computers etc and you can connect to Ms Exchange servers too.

3) Thunderbird is robust and fairly "Outlook like" so people shouldn't have too much trouble using it. If you have set to IMAP then once this scare is over and you go back to Outlook the email will still be in the same folders.

4) If you can run it on a Linux system (Host or VM) then you are extra protected from this malware even if you open a dubious email link as the executable can't run on a Linux machine (currently -- who knows what these scumbags will get up to in the future).

5) Again treat any email you don't know about or are even slightly suspicious of with the same care as a Hand grenade with the pin removed !!!

(BTW Thunderbird can handle multiple accounts on different servers and has calendar stuff too so it shouldn't be a real problem to use it for a while -- and of course it's FREE).

Cheers -- and SAFE emailing.

Jimbo

When I click on the icon on a company or organization's web page to create an email to the company/organization that uses my default email program (Outlook Express), it opens multiple copies of Internet Explorer that continue to open more as I close them. The only solution is to use Task Manager to close the original web site which then closes all of the other Internet Explorer screens. I thought one solution might be to remove Outlook Express as my default mailer and cannot find a way in IE to do that. Any suggestions on how to fix this problem?~Mod Edit: Topic moved to more appropriate forum~ TMacK

and in the more error detail I get:

I am unable to open any links that I attempt to open in my email account.

re: wxp and Yahoo mail.  When I try to open an email attachment I frequently get a little window that pops up called "Security Warning" that says webpage content information is not using HTTPS connection etc.  At the bottom of the window is "OPEN" and  clicking on that opens the attachment.  But I occasionally get the same window and at the bottom is "FIND" to open.  If I click on that it starts asking questions I cannot answer.

I know not to open attachments unless I am certain they are safe.  My current problem is a monthly bill that used to be easy to open but now I cannot get it to open because I do not know how to "find" it.

Hi all,

I am trying to send multiple emails to different people with slightly different links to a survey page, so I can monitor who takes the survey (e.g. http://forums.techguy.org&c=90001, http://forums.techguy.org&c=90002....)
I have no trouble setting up Word to do a mail merge using an Excel file as the data source, and in the Excel file the links are all different and they are live.
However, when an email shows up on my pc, the link is dead - can't click on it to go to the survey, only can cut and paste into the browser, which I don't want to have happen to the client's customers.

(Edit) Note: I installed Microsoft's FixIt

Any ideas? Thanks in advance!

Hi.

I consolidated some email accounts to drop all mail into Outlook on a PC running Vista. It worked fine.

I then changed antivirals from Penicillin to McAfee. Now, when links or photos are in the body of the email (as opposed to attachments), I get an error message about the config settings don't give permission to open the link or the photo. This is not the case on my laptop running XP home or XP pro. Is it a Vista thing or a McAfee thing?

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Thanks.

I've tried changing the extension and usingWord and WordPerfect and WordPro to no avail. It took me an hour to type this reply. Any ideas on how I can open this temp file and copy it to a new reply? When it opens now it's all coded boxes, etc. Help?! Thank you.

Answer:Lost email reply - temp file opening problem

Hiya and welcome

What is the file extension of this email? Is it .tmp?

You may be able to view it this way. When you rightclick do you just have the option Open?

If so, then hold the Shift key down and rightclick. You should get Open With....

In the list, look for wordpad. Ensure that the box Always open files of this type..... is NOT ticked.

Then, see if you can read it. If not, keep trying some other programs.

It may be lost forever, though.

I just got a new Windows 8 machine and am having a strange problem. I have Office 2010 installed on the machine, and I can open attached email Excel files fine by double clicking on them which launches MS Excel, but when my wife tries to open them in her email, under her log in on the machine, the computer doesn't seem to know what type of file it is, and launches Adobe Reader instead of MS Excel, which can't open it. When I try to save it onto the desktop or some other location on the PC, it tries to save it as an image file. If I have her forward the same email with the attachment to me, it opens just fine. Is there some type of setting that needs to be changed under her account log in? She can access all the MS office programs on the PC and launch them with no problems, just not from an email attachment.
Any help with this would really be appreciated!!!

I have a situation where someone has 2 email addresses. One of them is now redundant and I have deleted it from the People section. However, when I am set to make a new email to that person and type the first letter of their name, in the pop up window (that you can click on) their old email address still appears.
How do I delete this from that list? Can find no way to do so.

Answer:Outlook Email - Deleting Wrong Email Entry when starting new email

In new email, start typing the address you want to remove. When you have enough characters for auto complete to show it (sometimes one letter is enough), use DOWN ARROW key on keyboard to select the address in question and press DEL key.

I have microsoft word 97 and cannot send an email of a document to someone. It says MAPI failure...unsuspecting error. I really don't know how to make a mail client so that I can send a document. Is microsoft 97 that outdated now. I use windows live mail as my email client on sending documents that need to be sent out. Please help in any way that you can. I've also download openoffice trying to send out a document but that doesn't work either.

I have been using AOL for years and have finally got fed up as they have been losing 30% of my email over the last month and simply will not admit it is their fault. I have set up my own domain with oneandone who also provide me with 3 POP3 mailboxes and an outgoing SMTP server. So, I have some nice new addresses and some mailboxes which leaves two decisions: which ISP to use to get on line and which Mail Client to use to send and receive email.I have plenty of time to decide on which ISP to use as I am still using AOL to log on. However, the question of which Mail Client to use to access my POP3 Mailboxes is urgent. I have played about a bit with Outlook Express over the years so using that would be the easiest. However, I am worried that most viruses, worms etc seem to be written to work with OE so would I be best to avoid it?I am wondering about Outlook, but is it not also vulnerable to viruses etc? Is it not also fairly big and clunky given that I only want email, not any sort of time management. (I am retired) On the other hand, I shall be using several email addresses to keep my mail in order so perhaps Outlook would be a good choice?I am wondering to about Eudora and Pegasus. As I know nothing about these, any comments would be most helpful. With thanks in advance.

Answer:Which is the best Email Client?

This is a good choice if you want to add a bit of panache, or perhaps themes to your emails as I find most emails boring.Depending on your sense of humour you can certainly liven someones day up, and as far as bugs, worms, etc I am not aware of any but of course you have to be using decent Antivirus, Firewalls etc for protection anyway.

(sorry if this is a repost, did a bit of searching beforehand though)

I've used Opera's built in email for a long time now, mostly because I enjoy the convenience of clicking the left sidebar and opening my email so easily, but I was wondering what everyone else uses? Perhaps try to coax me into a new client?

Answer:What email client do you use?

Most that use IMAP (including myself) are not very happy with Opera's mail client.

They've rewritten the IMAP backend from scratch. It is available in 9.0TP1 and will be available in 9.0 Final when it comes out.

The problem is, the interface is a pop3 interface. Almost all the features are pop3 features. There are a million features missing for IMAP. Opera's mail client destroys the idea of IMAP. I've been on them to fix things. We'll see.

Also, the fact that the folder list is in a panel and the message list is in a separate window makes it a pain for drag n drop. Lots of people have panel placement set to float, which make the mail client a pain to use.

The whole filters deal just doesn't do it for imap. Opera's mail client doesn't even keep things in sync with the server. Also, it can easily wipe out all messages in your imap folder.

Now for pop3, Opera's mail client works fine and is pretty cool.

Also, if you are one to compose mail in HTML format, you can't in Opera. You can't even forward HTML that someone sent to you. Also, Opera itself doesn't support copying and pasting of rich text so if you copy pics, links and text from a web page and paste it, all you get is text.

Also, new in Opera mail, like some other clients, now splits up download messages into separate folders for each day and each message is now stored in a separate file. This is supposed to improve parsing files by doing things separately... Read more

Question: Email Client

It seems like this may not be the correct forum, and yet I don't see one that is specifically for this, so hope I don't get in trouble for asking this question here. I use gmail, but I absolutely hate the web interface. I have been using incredimail for years (don't use any of the backgrounds or icons but love the ability to organize folders and set message rules, etc. Can someone recommend a great email client that allows folder organization and is easy to set up? I currently have Windows XP (SP3).

I have a few email addresses from different companies that I have had for many years. I had no problem setting them up in Outlook Express, so whatever email address the person had that I gave them (anyone of three different ones), Outlook Express would open all of them.

Now I intend to buy a computer with Windows 7 and they do not use Outlook Express. I would like to keep these different email addresses and have the emails all open in the email client I choose to use.

I assume that Outlook would do this, but I really can afford it right now but will get it if I have to.

Any email program that will pull all these different email address in and open them?

Someone mentioned Windows Live 2011 - I haven't looked into this one, anyone familiar with it?

Question: email client

I just upgraded my OS from Vista to Windows 7, somehow I didn't upgrade the email client...I remember seeing something about it but it is not there. I just tried to email a company from their website and I got the error that the client is not installed. How do I get that?

I use gmail for my email but since this particular website doesn't have an email submission form, it needs the mail client to open to give me the address. Please help.

Question: Email Client

I was just curious what the email client of choice is with Win7 since it does not come with one. I am leaning toward Thunderbird. I have to have the ability to have two email addresses. From my understanding if you use Windows Live Mail, you must actually go into the Control Panel and change users. That is alot of trouble. Does anyone know of another email client other than Thunderbird that allows two users like Outlook Express did?

Answer:Email Client

i would like to know also. having problems with windows live mail.

whos bright idea was it to remove windows mail in the first place, i dont understand what they were thinking.

Am using Netscape 7.2 right now. Understand the latest version is over blotted with a clumsy UI (haven't even looked at it yet). When emailing a file from another application, such as Word or Adobe, Netscape opens but the authoring program crashes. So, I am looking for another email client.

Have used Opera Mail from within the browser, Incredimail, ExpressPlus (which integrates with my PIM - Time & Chaos), Courier Mail, etc. What is the best email client that you have used, are you still using it, and how long have you used it?

Question: email client

Hello

To change my email client do I click on control panel>default programs>associate a file type>mail to?

My current one is WLM but I don't know what happens when I click "Change program"!

Will I have a choice like Windows Outlook.com?

**The reason I am asking is because if I click on 'set your default programs' as I usually do and highlight a program to set as default, no other mail is there - just WLM. I have Gmail, 2 Live accounts, Comcast account, and WLM all in my WLM desk account. I was hoping to make the Outlook.com application the email client but maybe it cannot be done.
I have not synchronized and do not know if it is necessary to get Outlook.com to appear on the default program page.
Any help appreciated.
Thank you
Peter

Answer:email client

I am not sure if this is the right place for this question or not but I have a new laptop with Windows 8 and there are those panes and one was for Mail. I selected it and it asked me to enter my username and password. I wasn't sure if it would work but I put in my hotmail information and it worked. Unfortunately, there doesn't appear to be a way to back of out that and there are other people that use this laptop using the same login information. When you select the Mail pane, it automatically goes to my email inbox. Is there a way to reset it so there is no personal info again? I don't really know what I am doing but I do know I don't want a bunch of folks able to read my personal email. I have looked everywhere I know to look.

I would really appreciate any help you can provide.

Jill

Hi,

I have just upgraded my PC to Windows 7 and note that there is no email client. I have installed Windows Live Mail and I hate this programme with a vengenance. My wife refuses to use the PC until I get rid of WLM.

We have a laptop which still has Vista and Windows Mail which we are used to and is excellent. We really do not want two different email programmes so is there a way to install the Vista Windows Mail on my Win 7 PC? We can transfer the necessary files from the laptop if need be.

Step by step instructions would be appreciated.

Axel

Question: best email client

I wanted to ask: what is the best email client software available? A little time ago I was reading a comparing article of several clients on a magazine and the winner was pocomail.
What I am looking for in an email client is the function of following the conversations by grouping the emails written to a specific person. This characteristic is perfectly funtional in gmail.
What do you guys think?
thanks

Answer:best email client

You might take a look at Eudora. It allows you to make a mail box for certain individuals then it filters the mail into that mailbox from that person. I use Eudora for e-mail and I'm really happy with it.

I just upgraded to Win 7. I am really unsure about Window Live Mail. It just seems a little wacky to me in comparison to Outlook express.

So, I am wondering what email client you all use and maybe the top 2 or 3 reason you use it.

Thanks!

Answer:Which email client do you use and why?

i dont use one, have used Thunderbird and Outlook and a few others over the years but in the end i always have my browser open and always can open a tab with gmail quicker than i can use a client of any kind, have no need for client features, send, receive, forward and compose, is all i need
