ms powerpoint+suite 2003

Question: ms powerpoint+suite 2003

Hello! My prof recently gave a syllabus for our computer course. In it, she needs us to have...

"MS Word and PowerPoint (MS WORKS is NOT appropriate!!
Do NOT use MS Works.) Office Suite Version 2003 is highly
recommended, as Version 2007 documents CANNOT be opened in the labs. For those
of you working with Version 2007 at home, you will need to
re-save the file in the 2003 format before submitting!"

I do not have powerpoint at all, but is it possible to download a free version somewhere that's 2003, or is there another way I will be able to do this with another free program? thanks so much!!

Preferred Solution: ms powerpoint+suite 2003

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

What computer course are you taking? Will you have to create Power Point slide shows? Or do you just need the ability to view Power Point?Microsoft offers a trial version of Office 2007. You may also check at the student book store to see if they offer an academic discount on Office products.

we are creating ppt slides on office 2003 machines and when we send them for review to some of our client sites they are unable to see some images (.jpg) when they open the document in office 2000. is there a patch that they can run so that all images appear as they should on their machines? PS yes the images are in the file and not just links to images.
-JB

i forgot to mention that when saving file, when we choose the 97-2000 option our 4MB file becomes 45MB so that is out of the question unless we can just save it as 2000-2003 file format.

We are migrating PCs from Office 2003 Prof to Office 2007 Prof. On migrated machines running Office 2007 SP2 on Windows 7 Prof, Powerpoint fails to open any .pps files created in Powerpoint 2003. This includes copying the files locally. When opening via double clicking the file name the error returns "Powerpoint cannot read "filename"". If you try to open a pps from within Powerpoint 2007, the little blue circle appears for a second, but the file is not opened - no error is reported. The pps files continue to work fine with Powerpoint 2003.

Answer:Powerpoint 2007 cant open Powerpoint 2003 .pps files

Try renaming one of the files to ppt or ppsx and see if that works.message edited by beachyhbt

Hi

I have a Windows XP pc with Ofiice 2003 on it.

Everytime I open Powerpoint, create a presentation and click "save as", the default file type is a Powerpoint 95 presentation.

I've set it to "Powerpoint presentation" under Tools>Options>Save Tab.
Closed and opened Powerpoint, tried again, same problem.

Any ideas?

I'm guessing a registry change but I would not know where to look. I recreated the 11.0 key, same problem.

I tried to find something on it on MS page but its confusing..... I have IE , Win XP...
Any help on what to do or sellers would be greatly appreciated...

Answer:get Powerpoint for Works Suite 2002 ?

Buying a stand-alone version of PowerPoint would probably be extremely uneconomic, when you can buy Microsoft Office "Student and Teachers" edition.

It contains Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint. It can be installed on up to 3 computers "in the same household" but should not be used for commercial purposes.

I work on a helpdesk at a hospital and Im noticing 3 or 4 separate users experiencing the following issue.

A PP file is created in Office 2007 and saved as a 97-2003 file format. The file is able to be opened and edited without issues on any computer running office 2007 (obviously). but when the file is attempted to be EDITED on a PC with office 2003 the file freezes and gives the program not responding error. These computers have the compatibility pack.

Any light you can shed on this issue is greatly appreciated!!!

Answer:Powerpoint 97-2003 Files FREEZE when opened in 2003

I have the exact same issue in Powerpoint and all my old files were created with Powerpoint 97. I get an error as follows:

Powerpoint was unable to display some of the text, images, or objects on slides in the file (xxx.ppt), because they have become corrupted. Affected slides have been replaced........

It locks up at opening or shortly after opening while trying the edit.

Please be clear on technical instructions since I'm a novice.

Thanks

Question: Powerpoint 2003

Morning all. I have a relatively new (1year old) comp with Office 2003 installed, Dual-monitor-out Nvidia Graphics card, and a projector. For those of ya'll familiar with Powerpoint 2003, when you click slideshow, or press F5, a special screen will pop-up showing you all your slides and a view of what the projector is showing, plus a notes area. Recently though, when we press F5, instead of that screen popping up, the view stays the same, the slideshow creation area, and the only way to change slides is to use the arrow key, clicking on the slides will only move you out of the slideshow, requiring you to click on the taskbar button: "Projector Slideshow". As you can imagine, this get incredibly annoying, and, as I am not the one running the slideshow, very confusing for the person doing it. We've tried messing with the resolutions, rebooting, different projectors, etc. If anyone knows of another solution, let me know please.

"Microsoft Office PowerPoint has stopped working".

Then when I try to open Powerpoint I get another message:

"PowerPoint failed to start correctly last time. Starting PowerPoint in safe mode will help you correct or isolate a startup problem in order to successfully start the program. Some functionality may be disabled in this mode.

Do you want to start PowerPoint in safe mode?"

If I select No PowerPoint seems to operate normally.

I have uninstalled the program and re-installed it, used detect and repair but nothing seems to solve this problem.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Question: Powerpoint 2003

I have a dell lattitude d610 laptop that if you use the function + F8 keys to change the view to a projector or secondary monitor the resolution changes to 400% and acts as if the mouse scroll is being used constantly. I know this is a software issue because i removed the hard drive and put it in another d610 and it will do the same thing. I have also uninstalled Office 2003 Pro and cleaned the registry. I then reinstalled Office 2003 Pro and then service packed it. The problem is still happening. EXcel will also blowup to 400% when you open a workbook. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Answer:Powerpoint 2003

Try Picking which view you want to use before you open up the powerpoint. I think Powerpoint auto adjusts to the screen size for any presentation. But if it is while the powerpoint is being viewed it may screw up a bit.
Give it a try and let me know.

Question: MS powerpoint 2003

I've been asked to make a slide out of a Pubmed page and I can't seem to do it.
In the past all I had to do was put in the text of the abstract on a slide. But this time I have to put the page exactly as it appears online on a slide.
Can anyone tell me how it can be done?
I'm using MS Office 2003.
Thanks for any suggestions.

Answer:MS powerpoint 2003

Save whatever page you need to a handy folder in My Pictures. I generally use a freeware application, such as Gadwin's Print Screen, to capture the screen and turn it into a bitmap file, which is the more readable. Then insert the bitmap into a blank PPT page. You may need to do several tries until you get one that fits and is readable at the same time.

Question: PowerPoint 2003

Hi there,

We have around 50 users here that work from home via a Microsoft terminal server and in the office on Microsoft PowerPoint 2003 presentations.  Lately we have had about 10 users getting corrupt Powerpoint files AFTER they had worked on the file via the terminal server the night before.  I think this is related to them working on the file remotely but have no idea how this could be caused.  The most frequent error appears when trying to edit data behind charts 'The server application, source file, or item can't be found, or returned an unknown error. You may need to reinstall the server application'.

I've researched the error and found it on Microsofts website but they implicate Norton Antivirus as the culprit.  We do not have and AV software on the Terminal server or the fileserver where the files is stored so I have to rule this out.  Does anyone have any ideas?

Answer:PowerPoint 2003

What kinds of changes are they making to the PowerPoint files? The error often occurs when some other file type is embedded in the PowerPoint slide, usually an Excel spreadsheet or a PDF, and usually results when the object is not embedded properly.

Question: Powerpoint 2003

Question: PowerPoint 2003

I have an issue where more than one person can open the same ppt file in edit mode at the same time. I know this is not supposed to happen, first person gets edit mode, all others should get read-only notice. Any thoughts or ideas would be greatly beneficial.

Answer:PowerPoint 2003

I think that your thoughts...would apply only if the file being accessed...only exists in one location. Perhaps not, since the original document remains saved until replaced by an edited version. I've not been in a situation where I shared documents in one location, so I can't be sure.

IME, users typically make copies when editing a file/document used/accessed by others...edit the copy...and then save the document.

I'm collaborating on a presentation with someone and was wondering if there's any way to have more than one person working on the presentation at once from separate machines.

If not it's not a huge problem but it would be nice to be able to do this.

Hi I have a Windows 7 which had originally installed Microsoft office 2010 but just for a 1 month trial so I?ve installed Microsoft office 2003 for which I have a licence. I have disabled the 2010 Office. I am not sure what?s wrong with the PowerPoint but recently it keeps crashing and the following message appears: ?PowerPoint was unable to display some of the text, images or objects on slides in the file? because they have become corrupted. Affected slides have been replaced by blank slides in the presentation and it is not possible to recover the lost information. To ensure that the file can be opened in previous versions of PowerPoint, use the save as command and save the file with either the same or a new name.? ? When I try to save under different name, the problem still persists. Moreover the presentations changed and all of the slides have the borders and lines, when I?m trying to clear them (no fill for both: lines and borders for every single slide) the presentation not responding and crashes. Also the master slides are different to the slides; my logo at the footer disappears?this is so annoying and I really don't know what might be the problem, especially for the borders and lines that are now visible and spoiling the presentation.I?ve been thinking of reinstalling it but not sure if this will help. Can anyone please help me?Much appreciated!

Hi everybody,

I have quite some PPT (created in PPT 2003), including a lot of imported movie clips I get from a CD. So basically what PPT does is look on the CD for the clip when I press it in the PPT. Now ...

Recently I've bought a new laptop which was installed by the computer store clerk. He has created two partitions on my HDD being C and D.And the CD drive is E

But on my old computer the CD drive was D and the HDD was C.

My question now is; Is there a way to edit the source for all my clips (thus from D:/ to E:/ without having to re-import all my clips in all my PPT ?

I already thought about editting the drive letters, but since they are boot partitions Windows XP will not let me in order to avoid ruining my boot .... which is favourable of course ...

Any ideas ?

I don't understand what's happening here.

I am working in PPT 2003 on a dell desktop 3000 with xp. I have all my slides ready, now I am linking/embedding my wav files. I've done this before so it's no big deal, but..... on the single slide I can play it and the sound is there everything is good. I have the wav set up to play over the next 13 slides.. So I need to get my timing right so I go to 'view show' the slides advance but when it comes to the slide with the wav file in it, the sound (wav file) does NOT play! I can't figure out for the life of me what's going on. The files are pretty big, but I see they are linked. They are all in the same folder as the ppt slide I'm working on on the computer... Does anyone have a clue what's going on? The largest files in WAV are over 100kb. Do I need to convert to a different format in order for them to play during "view show"? The files were made as wma, and I converted them to wav files.
I have tired this on 2 different computers and neither have played in "view show". Please help someone!
TIA
Ritakk

Hello,

I downloaded the PowerPoint 2003 viewer application, but when you install the program on your computer it is automatically installed on the start menu. The program is not located anywhere else on the computer. I need to be able to move the viewer around to different folders so that I can include it on the CD I'm burning. The only thing I can get it to do is create a shortcut to the folder I want to move the program to and that will not allow me to burn the viewer onto the CD using autorun. Any suggestions?

I Have been using power point viewer 2003 . I notice that there is a 2007 version. Is there any advantage to downloading the 2007 version? I am running Microsoft XP and do not have power point itself.

Answer:Powerpoint viewer 2003

Hi

There is no harm in not getting it as it will work with presentations done in Office97 ~ Office 2007 Powerpoint, plus it will have some fixes over the older version.

Main advantage is that PPV2007 will open PP2007 presentations whereas PPV2003 will not, so if you will come into contact with presentations done in PP2007 as this is slowing being used, then you cannot open those in PPV2003.

Is there some downside to not using placeholders? I often use the blank design template (the one with no title, pix, text placeholders) to hold a form or a full slide size picture, and just copy directly from the file out of my My Documents to the slide. Am I creating a problem that I cannot foresee?

Thanks

Answer:Powerpoint 2003 - Not using placeholders

YES! When you make your own texboxes then they do not inherit the formatting or changes you make to the master.

I have been trying to create a new PP for a carol service. For each carol, each verse has its own slide. Each carol has its own design using standard PP designs applied to selected slides. Some slides have imported clipart pictures. Text is all Arial 32pt in text boxes.
All seems to go well until PP freezes with the hourglass stationery. Closing via the white cross on red square works. On re-opening, I get a message saying some text is corrupted and cannot be displayed although I cannot detect anything missing. PP freezes if I try to do anything e.g add a text box.
I have last year's PP in which all slides are just on a plain white background i.e. no designs & it is OK.
Could there be some sort of capacity limit that is being exceeded by having several designs?

Dear Helpers,

Using XP with Office 2003. After inserting a WAV music file into my Powerpoint slideshow I noticed that the slideshow became way too big. Obviously it must have been the added music. The WAV file itself, I soon saw, was some 6MB in size. I used the Sound Recorder in Accessories to compress the file but it is still too large at 3MB. How do I get it to under 1MB to make my slideshow small enough to send to my email contacts?

Thx so much for your help.....

Walt

Answer:music in powerpoint 2003

Hi

Only so much you can compress a Wav to, could convert to MP3 or use Audacity change it from a stereo track to a mono which would shave some size off.

If any pics in the PPT, could compress those, when Save As, click Tools > Compress pictures and choose Email option, will make the total PPT smaller, so could compensate for larger WAV?!

I recently upgraded my Office 2000 to 2003 Pro. I think I just did the Express Install.

I am building a slideshow which I want to "pack & play" on CD's with PP Viewer and the show.
The Package For CD function says it is installed on first use, so I put the CD in the drive and pointed PP to the file it wants (Pro11.msi). It doesn't like it...says it's not a "valid installation package".
The upgrade installation of Office went fine. Am I going to have to uninstall and reinstall as Custom, selecting the functionality for PowerPoint as I upgrade Office?
It just doesn't seem right. What am I missing?
I'm running under XP SP2.

Question: Works suite 2003

I normally have works suite 2003 installed in my computer. Well I had to uninstall it for other reasons and when it was OK to reinstall Everything worked except for Windows Word. I keep getting a message "The patch package could not be opened. Verify that the patch package exist and that you can access it, or contact the application vendor to verify that this is a valid Windows Installer patch package." Now I know it a valid installer package because I have installed it, twice. I don't understand why everything else installed fine but not Word.
Also how do you remove Ad-aware 6.0? I can't seem to remove it at all. It says "could not open INSTALL.LOG file.

Answer:Works suite 2003

Regarding the Word error, it looks like the Windows Installer file may be corrupt.

A solution may be found here, in the nature of a clean-up program from MS.

Any Word files that I create do not appear on the Woprks Task Launcher. Why is this?I am also unable to use Calendar. It complains that I do not have a Microsoft file Msdart.dll.Where can I get this file?

Answer:Works Suite 2003

Word is a separate program to Works... Anything loaded with Word will only appear on it's own list of recently opened files where'as Works will only be able to list/open it's own...As for the Calendar, check to see if everything is installed ok, if not the missing file should be on your Works install CD inside one of the .cab files...

I am by no means an Office app expert but I am trying to support people who run Office 2003 and have run into an issue. There are serveral people who want to be able to open more than 1 session of Powerpoint 2003 at a time. Is there any way to do that other than purchasing the PwerSlide software?
Help?

Answer:multiple sessions in Powerpoint 2003

I'm not sure I understand. You can run Powerpoint several times on one computer, by simply launching it several times. However, if you have a Powerpoint window open with a blank document in it, and launch Powerpoint again, it will simply switch to that "blank" instance of Powerpoint... To open several instances, you need to have one instance already open with a document opened inside and then launch another instance.

Hello,

Thank you all for the help in the past. I have a weird problem in Powerpoint. If you create a text box it auto numerates the text box, even with it numbering turned off. The other thing that the text box does is to format the text in paragraph format. The odd thing is that it does it even in Powerpoint safemode. I tried a detect & repair to get rid of all settings and everything but it still does it. Has anyone seen this before?

Thank you,

Jay

This is occurring over multiple systems ... here's the situation. I've got a Powerpoint file that contains a video. The video itself is 102MB in size. When I want to view that video in the presentation, it just shows a white square where the video is supposed to be. It does this on three laptops that I have tried it on (one has a GF4 420, one has a Radeon 9000, and the other has Intel 855GM video). It does not do this on a system with Via integrated video, one with GF2 MX, and one with GF2 GTS. All of the systems I have tried it on have Windows XP. All but 2 of the systems I have tried it on have Service Pack 2 installed.

So you're thinking "hey, the codec isn't installed!" WRONG. It's an m1v file, which is an old MPEG format. I think Windows 98 could play it using its version of Windows Media Player. In fact, on the systems in which the white box phenomenon occurs, the file plays flawlessly in Windows Media Player. I've checked the registry settings and everything, I've created a new presentation and embedded the video into it, and it still behaves like this. How the hell do I fix this problem?

<edit> Testing this with different videos ... it's doing this with all video formats, including MPEG and WMV. I am seriously about to go postal on something here.

<edit 2> No movie will play when the presentation is being shown fullscreen (i.e. when F5 is pressed) or when you right-click the movie in Powerpoint and choos... Read more

I built a pdf page with links to powerpoint files (created with MS 2003) which opens fine with Powerpoint software.

However, pdf page is shared with other computers that do not have powerpoint software, so I installed powerpoint viewer 2003 on those computers.
But when I click the link, nothing happens (no error message).

So I tried a couple of things:
1) Clicking on the actual file and not from the link:
- Right click -> Open with -> Powerpoint viewer 2003. This gave me an error message "xx.ppt is not a valid Win32 application"

2) Opening the file from the viewer
- Open the powerpoint viewer 2003 which prompts me to choose a file. When I chose the ppt file, it opens.

3) Assign file extension for ppt to powerpoint viewer 2003
- When I click on a powerpoint file, it gives me the same error message as #1 above.

I've been trying to look for an answer for two days now and no luck... HELP!

Hi All,

Here's a fun one for you. I'm running Powerpoint 2003 on Windows Vista. (Add-on product only works with Powerpoint 2003 so I can't upgrade to Powerpoint 2007). Whenever I click on a graphic, it moves slightly. It doesn't always move the same direction. Sometimes down, sometimes to the side. In fact, it often makes a copy of the item I have selected (as if I had clicked the mouse and dragged it slightly in order to make a copy.)

Powerpoint is almost unusable because I keep having to "re-position" my graphics and delete the unwanted copies.

I have already done the following:
1. Reinstalled Office 2003
2. Verified all Microsoft updates for Office and Vista
3. Reinstalled Vista

Is there someway to enter a text box that acts like the ones on Layout templates - where text automatically increases/decreases in size as you enlarge/shrink the text box? I have tried "Insert" then Text Box, but it does not do it.

Thank you

Answer:Powerpoint 2003 - Text Boxes

I do not know of anything other than the layout text boxes which autofit. Have you looked into selecting all the text within the text box (click on the border or CTRL+A while inside the text box) and into using CTRL+[ or CTRL+] to increase or decrease the size quickly and easily? This neat little hotkey will work in MS Word as well.

I prepared a presentation in Powerpoint 2003 in my desktop PC, which works with XP, and everything was fine. I meant to use the pps on my laptop, which has Vista since I had to use that at a conference, with internet projector and screen...

Guess what? I was able to see the presentation but whenever I tried to activate a link to a webpage where there was a video, the link opened and I could hear the audio but not see the video.

In order to do that, I had to minimize the presentation, open my Explorer and watch the video. When the video was over, I had to go back to the presentation, and click on "resume presentation from this slide on" (or sth like that)

This was a hassle because all the interactivity I had wanted was lost between "coming and going out" of the pps sht which of course did not happen in my desktop.

Any hints? Help?

Answer:powerpoint 2003 on Vista - does it work?

Damn, I curse MS everyday for creating the debacle of formatting and file format changes from 2003 to 2007. You probably were missing a plug-in or something for the browser on the laptop. However, the safest and easiest way to transport PowerPoint files between computers is to use the "Pack and Show" option that creates a completely stand-alone presentation that will work on any computer regardless of operating system or whether it even has PowerPoint installed. Look for it in the File menu.

Good luck.

I am using Microsoft PowerPoint 2003. I made a slide show but my "outline" button in the top left corner does not work. When I click on outline, nothing shows up. I followed the instructions that the program provides but it was no use. Is there a certain setting I need to have set? If you can help that would be great!

Answer:PowerPoint 2003-outline ques.

Welcome to the forum. I am guessing you are trying to create an outline slide. To create an outline slide you need to select all the slides that you want to have in the outline while holding down the shift key and then click on the button. You basically are making a slide that references the titles from all of the other slides.

PowerPoint had been running successfully but starting about three days ago it won't load completely. It gives a suggestion to use safe mode, then a suggestion to use diagnose and repair but neither of these seem to do any good. A Dell support engineer removed Office 2003 completely and reinstalled it and the same symption appears. I downloaded PowerPoint viewer and it will work with a powerpoint file, but PowerPoint itself won't open completely. It shows the tool bar at the top and that is all.Numerous registry cleans have been done as well as virus scans. The video board drivers have been recently updated. Another problem that the Dell guy did fix that just started is the video and cd players not opening when a CD or DVD were inserted. That has apparently been fixed but the PowerPoint problem continues.

I'm using Powerpoint 2007 with Vista SP2. I have a presentation that involves several screenshots (inserted in .jpg format), and they look fine in my PowerPoint, but when I have zipped and sent to others, they say that a few of the slides show solid color rectangles instead of the screenshots I had provided.
When I open the zipped file again, it looks fine to me.

I've tried the following:

Resaving the file (tried both 2003 and 2007 formats)
Using a new template and pasting the slides in and saving a new copy
Making sure I have all current SPs for Vista and PPT
Repairing PowerPoint
Making sure the two users having a problem had compatibility package installed (I believe they are both using 2003 on XP)
Packaging the presentation
None of these works, and I'm unable to share my presentation. I had this problem once just after installing Office 2007 on XP, and I never did find the cause--it just seemed to go away.

Any ideas anyone? Thanks much in advance.

I would like to insert a whole PPT into another one.

I can do it in PowerPoint 2003, but not 2007

Here is how I do it in 2003:

Open a PPT presentation. Click on insert > slides from files > find presentation > browse > select second PPT presentation > click "keep source formatting" > insert all

This will insert a second PPT into the first PPT and retain all slides from both PPT's and keep the formatting for both, even if they are different. Any suggestions on how to do this in PowerPoint 2007?

I want to insert a picture into a text box (or text placeholder) on my slide, so that the text wraps around the picture. It works in Word fine, but need steps to do it in Powerpoint.

Answer:Powerpoint 2003 - Inserting Pix into Text Box

I don't believe that this is possible in Powerpoint. They do not have the same word wrapping properties as Microsoft Word. For a workaround, you can do this:

Create the image with the word wrap in Microsoft Word. Highlight or Ctrl+A to highlight all and right-click copy or Ctrl+C to copy contents.

Go to your powerpoint slide, go to Edit and Paste Special (You may have to hit the down arrows to show it in your edit menu) A dialog box will come up. Make sure to paste as Microsoft Office Word Document Object.

This should allow you to put word wrapping around object in powerpoint.

Hi, I've struggled for a long time with indents, and I think I have worked my frustrations down to one question:

Is it possible to have, contained within a single text box, a non-indented paragraph header (which spans over more than one line), followed by an indented bullet list?

My problem is that I hate the 'hanging indent' you get on the 2nd, 3rd etc lines of the opening paragraph, but equally I hate not having an indent after bullets and numbers!

I'm afraid that's about the best I can do in terms of explaining the problem - please let me know if it's not clear enough and I'll try to clarify!

Thanks.

I am modifying a powerpoint presentation that I created last year (and I have not touched ppt since).
I have a series of 4 slides that have a transition that fades out and in quickly i.e. I don't get the sudden change from one slide to another.
I want to apply that transition to all the other 130 slides in the presentation.
How do I detect what the transition is? And can it be applied to all slides in one go?
If I cannot find how I did it, can anyone suggest what I might have used?
The presentation is of carols and readings that will be used tomorrow night!

Answer:Powerpoint 2003 Reveal formatting?

I have 2007 but I think the same applies to both. Yo need the animations tab - and you probably have selected the 2nd option (Fade smoothly). You can now click the 'apply to all' button to the right of the transitions selection screen.

Help if you can - I have a PPT with 100 plus slides - one is a Map of the USA with 11 regions grouped by school construction, the next 11 slides are the individual data for each region, and are clicked as "HIDE SLIDE" - I have added an action button on each region to link to the correct data slide, which it does, BUT, at the end of that slide - the slideshow - just continues to display all of the other "Hidden Slides"

Thanks -
Dreweagle

Answer:PowerPoint 2003 Hide Slides

Hi Dreweagle

Ok, let's ignore the other 80-90 slides and focus on the 12 that matter.

Lets imagine the MAP slide is slide number 10 and the 11 hidden slides are at locations 11 to 21 inclusive.

Keep the 11 slides hidden.

Use the menu and go to "Slide Show..." > "Custom Shows"
Now, create a New Show, give it a name of, say "Region 1" and find slide 11 in the left hand panel and "Add" it to the right hand panel. Click "OK"

Now, repeat this, creating Regions 2 to 11 and by adding slides 12 to 21 to each custom show respectively.

In other words, each custom show has only one slide in it.

Now, edit the action buttons on the Map for each region in order so that when clicked their actions will be to Hyperlink to the Custom Show associated with that region.

Save!!

Now, run the show. You should find that when you click region 1 on the map, it zips off to the custom show "Region 1", displaying the single hidden slide, then on the next click it will return to Map slide rather than continue the other slides.

Let us know how you get on!

Hello,

I have a machine that when ever you load PowerPoint from Office 2003, it loads up a number of error messages saying something about clip art is not accessible within this program.

Is there any way of getting rid of this problem?

Thank you

Answer:Powerpoint 2003 clip art error

Hello,

I was searching on the net and came across this.... Not sure if this is actually the best solution etc. (found at http://www.pptfaq.com/FAQ00753.htm)

......................................................................................................................................

Problem

After installing the SP2 update for Office 2003, when you start PowerPoint, you see this message or one similar to it:

Microsoft Office PowerPoint can't display clip art.
This feature is not available. To make the feature available, ...

etc,etc.

Solution

You may see this error message after installing Service Pack 2 (SP2) if you haven't installed Clip Art.
The error only occurs when the Drawing toolbar is visible.

MS is aware of the problem and is working on a hotfix but in the meantime, here are two workarounds:

* Install Clipart
* Hide the Drawing toolbar (choose View, Toolbars and remove the checkmark next to "Drawing". The Drawing toolbar is visible by default but once you hide it, it will stay hidden.

Hi,

Introductions first: I am an IT trainer, mainly on Microsoft applications. I train PC, but work on a Mac at home, so sometimes get a bit lost between the two!

I have a delegate who has just called me to ask how to do a specific organisational chart in Powerpoint 2003.

She wants to have a chart that has 5 boxes across the top, but PP will only let her have 1 box, with 5 subordinates. Try as I do, I can't get it to have 5 boxes in the top row, then numerous boxes underneath.

Any ideas? Or is this a case of Visio needed?

I often need to insert a PDF image into a slide, but cannot do so, from Adobe Acrobat directly. Do I have to covert into a text document first? Or am I missing something?

Answer:Powerpoint 2003 - Inserting a PDF Image

If you are doing the converting from Adobe Acrobat Pro then you probably will not be satisfied with what it gives you. Do you have the source document that the PDF was made based upon? If not do you have Omnipage Pro on a PC?

Running MS Office Powerpoint 2003 (11.8169.8172) SP3

I've encountered an issue very succinctly described in the following website :

http://sqljunkies.com/WebLog/brianr/archive/2004/04/21/2154.aspx

However the catch for me is that I have tried to enact the solution but simply cannot see the Handwriting component to install it. There is nothing between Fonts and International Support.

My question: why can I not see this component and is there some sort of standalone installer for this I could use?

I have an excel file being linked within Powerpoint 2003. Let's say the file is call file4.xls. There is another file in the same folder called file5.xls. I close powerpoint, delete file4.xls, open powerpoint and say update links. The graph that was linked to file4.xls is now linked to file5.xls (so the data in file5.xls shows up instead of file4.xls). How did this possibly happen? Is this something built in by design?

Even more odd, I undo everything that I just did. I delete file5.xls and file4.xls and let's say there is another file called file6.xls. When updating links with powerpoint this time, it shows file6.xls. This seems very wrong to me. Any explanation on why this is happening?

Hi Guys,

Got MCI Error when running powerpoint 2003 slideshow with wav audio. Tried to open the wav file from windows media player, no issue. Really don't know why. Someone please help.

Thank you.

MCI Error:
No wave device is installed that can play files in the current format. To install a wave device, go to Control Panel, click....

Answer:Powerpoint 2003 got MCI Error in Windows 7

There have been problem reports about running Office 2003 apps under Windows 7 although it's supposed to be compatible. It could be that PPT 2003 is looking for a specific WAV device. Try running SFC to make sure none of your utility apps/drivers are broken. Also, is your Win7 32-bit or 64-bit?

I have msoffice 2003 pro installed on my computer. When I use powerpoint I go to preview the presentation or after its compiled play it, and all I get is a black screen and the program stops responding.

I had this problem on my first computer, and it needed a format anyways so I formatted it and it worked fine, and has ever since. I have office on my other computer, same version off the same cd... giving me the same problem, so I reformat and reinstall xp sp2 and office again. Still doing it.

Now it works fine if i view a presentation with no background music or voice over, but when I start adding that stuff is when it stops working.

My computer is a p4p800s-x p4 3.0 geforce5500 1 gig ram.. and i have the other computer which is only a 1.8 and it works fine.

Any ideas?

Is it possible in PowerPoint 2003 to create a Template for other users to only enter content onto slides, without being able to change the slide layout, fonts sizes colours etc? I need to make it as simple as possible to use the template and enter text for bulleted lists and chart data but make no other formatting changes?

Answer:PowerPoint 2003 - Enter Content Only

I don't beleieve there is a way to "lock" these options however a solution might be to use a slide master. Most beginners don't realise what these are for. You can set the default layout, background, fonts, and colors that are used for every slide throughout the presentation. (View menu - master - slide master) When you use the slide master there is a new toolbar. On the new toolbar there is a button to Preserve Master. This will keep the master slide from being deleted.

The only security in Power Point is setting a password to open the presentation and a password to edit the presentation.
