Preferred Solution: browsers very slow to load first time

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hello there!
I have posted a problem before - since it was in the wrong part of the forum I was redirected here.
The issue is that my laptop runs, how to say it....sluggish. On the one hand it's runnig but i feel like it's faaaaar from how it could run.
I have done few things already (mentioned here: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/550061/not-sure-what-is-happening-everything-is-slow/ ). None of them helped so You're my only hope
As mentioned in the PrepGuide...here is the dds.txt and attach.txt

Anxiously waiting for Your diagnose:)

Answer:Everything runs slow, long load up time, slow browsers

Lets run a different scanner that may show us more than DDS

Please download aswMBR to your desktop.

Double click the aswMBR icon to run it.
Click the Scan button to start scan.
If you are asked to update the Avast Virus database please allow it to do so.
When it finishes, press the save log button, save the logfile to your desktop and post its contents in your next reply.

I just want to see the report....Please Do Not Fix Anything

Please download Farbar Recovery Scan Tool and save it to your desktop.

Note: You need to run the version compatible with your system. If you are not sure which version applies to your system download both of them and try to run them. Only one of them will run on your system, that will be the right version.

How to determine whether a computer is running a 32-bit version or 64-bit version of the Windows operating system
A simple way to check your system: Start --> Computer (right click) --> Properties

*List BCD
*Drivers MD5
*Shortcut txt

Press Scan button.
It will produce a log called FRST.txt in the same directory the tool is run from.
Please copy and paste log back here.

I run both IE 8 and Firefox on my Dell Dimension system. I'm having problems now with both browsers taking forever to load. This may be a virus or network problem. IE 8 just loaded now after 15 minutes (exactly - I timed it).

Details:
- Once it's loaded once, both browsers load in normal amounts of time.
- I haven't downloaded any new add-ons lately unless one browser or the other installed one in the background.
- The problem just started today after a reboot.
- I've also noticed that my network icon in the taskbar doesn't show up anymore when I first boot but by the time IE opens, it has showed up.
- Using ipconfig, I did determine that I am on the network and connected immediately after boot up (router also shows me connected immediately).
- I've tried running IE from the command line with iexplore.exe -extoff. It didn't make any difference. I don't know if this works with IE 8 though.
- When I click to open either web browser, the process shows up right away in Task Manager and remains.
- I have all the latest updates to both browsers that I know of.
- I've run a complete system scan with McAfee (fully updated as of today.)

Now I've run out of ideas on what to try. I appreciate any help!

Thanks!
Alec

I've been experiencing a strange kind of internet problems for quite some time now. I don't know when this started. What happens is that randomly after some time I can't load any sites, I get 404 kind of error messages all the time. Sometimes when I try to load a page some random page gets displayed instead, for example I try to go to www.wikipedia.org and www.google.com shows up. I can't ping any websites either. This is the case with any browser I use, however I can still use skype, AIM, etc. and I can browse the internet on my Wii. I use Windows Vista and I have Norton 360 installed. I have updated Norton 360 to version 2, yet the problem still persists. I feel like it takes longer before the problem appears, but it still happens. A simple restart won't solve the problem either. However when I turn off the computer and turn it on the next day, everything is working again, until after some hours the problem appears again.
I hope my description isn't too confusing.
Thanks

I have long had problems with slow starting up of the PC. I have tried removing virtually all start up programmes, running Scans, defrag etc. The main problem has been when loading the browser. It effects IE and Firefox. The hard disc light flashes away sometimes for half an hour before the browser loads and you can hear it whirring very slowly. Even when the internet browser loads, it initially runs so slowly that it often malfunctions and needs re-starting which leads to further problems as the ' do you want to report the problem to microsoft message is being generated in the background at a snail's pace.

Probably a rather unclear description of the problem , but I am happy to clarify if anyone has an idea as this really drives me mad. I always have to allow at least half an hour before I can expect to get online. I had convinced myself it was IE, so downloaded Firefox. I think, Firefox may be slightly better, but the problem is still there.

Thanks

Answer:Browsers so slow to load up on start up.

What is your maintenance program for your system? Please name the programs you use so we can assist you further

I would suggest for starters you download and run CCleaner to clear out you temporary internet files.

Please, if you are not familiar with the software read the review thoroughly and do not use the registry cleaner option of the program.

kind regards,

I've used Firefox on my two PCs (XP) and two laptops (XP and Win7) for years. I've noticed more recently that all of them seem to have problems with loading up web pages compared to how older versions of FF were working.

I've tried using IE and Opera as well and they seem to be slow as well. All computers are running either AVG or Avast antivirus software.

If I try to open something, I can look down in the left side of the lower task bar and it will either say, "waiting for .........." or "transferring from....... " Regardless of which it is, I endure a slow painful page load up.

I've noticed this when traveling with my laptops so I know that its not just a problem with my home's internet and/or router. Some websites are worse than others because of bandwidth (I assume!)

Is it just that the web is being bombarded with so many advertisements, cookies and spyware that browsers are forced to "work harder" resulting in slower web page loading?

I've got little to no patience and I'm very sensitive to how my computers are running. In other words, I notice things like this and even my wife has noticed slower web page loading.

Danny

I forgot to mention that both laptops have recently been reformatted so they are fresh.

Answer:Web browsers slow to load up webpages

It is not ads. Cause you can hide them/disable them. This would be due to the connection and the number of people on it. Simple as that. Do you have WPA2 Security with a strong 16 character password that would take any brute force program at least a couple of days to crack? Or do you have some simple password that can be guessed by just about anyone who knows even a small detail about you?

What is your ISP speed as reported by SpeedTest.Net?

What extenstions do you have running?

What other programs do you have running?

How much RAM is in use? How many CPU Cycles?

Everything comes into effect. Sorry to inform you but no PC will stay as fast as it was the very first day you bought it. PC Hardware wears down. It starts to slow down. It is a fact of the industry. Even on a fresh install you can have more wear and tear on your hard drive causing read times to be longer.

Hello everyone,

I did not know where to post about this problem I have been having, No matter what webbrowser I use, they are all slow to load and crash! I have tried scanning for viruses, spyware, spamware and malware, but nothing shows up except cookies! I do not know what is causing this problem with all of my webbrowsers!

It first started on Internet Explorer a couple of years ago. So I decided to change to FireFox then that started to slow down and then crash on me also, but not as often as the Internet Explorer. Then I tried Google Chrome. Then that started to slow down and crash, but not as often as the Internet Explorer. It happens everytime I load up or click on a Yahoo.como page or any of the Yahoo sites: Yahoo Fantasy Sports, Yahoo Autos, etc..

At first I thought it was because I had too many tabs or windows open at one time. But that was not the cause. I tried clearing the WEbbrowsers' cauche and clearing browsing history, that only helped for about a halff hour to about a hour! I even tried clearing the computer's cache, being careful of what files got cleared, Same results! I even tried cearing old files, again being careful of what got cleared. Only helped for a little bit. I even doing a web search on this very subject, but found too many differing opinions on what causes this to happen. I tried some of the recommendations, as I listed above, but nothing has worked to prevnt this from happening. The only other things that I can think of ar... Read more

I have experienced a significant slow-down in my various browsers' ability to load pages over the past few months.

I use IE9 and Firefox18.  Most of the slow-down seems to be with loading ads and other content external to the particular website I am visiting (YouTube embedded video player, etc.).

On some websites, once they load, I experience freezing when scrolling with my mouse wheel -- text that blurs across the screen, etc.  This even happens on the bleepingcomputer.com site.

I'm running a 3 year-old HP desktop, wireless cable Internet connection, and have not had this issue to this extent until recently.  I installed BOINC 6 weeks ago, but the slow browser problem pre-dates that software by at least a month or more.

I've run MBAM scans - nothing found.  Online speed tests - throughput is fine.

Any suggestions on how to proceed in addressing this issue would be greatly appreciated!

The computer I have here at work was working fine until I updated to the latest version of Firefox. It was painfully slow to open but once it was open it did relatively well. I decided I'd rather go back to the old version so I system restored back to before I did the update.. Well I dont know if a setting got changed or what but all browsers (including Chrome) are very slow to open and load most pages. This computer is on a network with 5 others and its the only one with problems. I should note it pings and speedtests just like all the others... its got me completely baffled.

Hi all, I have had this problem for about a week now, but it has gradually worsened.
As the title states, my internet is extremely slow, and I cannot load certain content heavy pages such as fileplanet.com, gamershell.com etc.
My laptop (Xp) is wireless, I have tried direct connection to the router to no avail.
My dad's desktop (Xp) is wired, and also has the same problem.
My mum's laptop (Vista) is wireless but works absolutely fine (posting this off of her's)
I am running Zone Alarm, have done multiple scans with AVG, Ad Aware and Spybot with no improvement.
I've tried using open dns, and flushing my dns.
I've cleaned up my temp files and cache.
I should also mention, downloads are completely fine.
It's JUST the browser.
At one point I had two instances of rundll32.exe active at once, but only one seems to be running now.
In safe mode, guess what! Everything is dandy, so it must be program related, and I'm guessing a problem to do with something within Xp.
I saw on one forum someone reporting that there was an unknown process checked in msconfig and some dlls in the system32 directory with a similar name, upon deletion of them all, the problem was resolved, alas I cannot see anything like this.
After searching ALL over the internet and seeing many people with the same problem, I have found no resolution, someone please help me out!
Anything would be much appreciated, I'm losing it over this one.. hope the info is specific enough for ... Read more

Answer:ALL internet browsers are very slow/cannot load some pages. Very specific problem.

Peerguardian seemed to be blocking most of the access to sites such as fileplanet, and Avg Web Shield was massively slowing down my browser speed.
This does solve the problem but leaves me a bit less secure.

Okay, I printed the instructions, followed the suggestions and am still having problems. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Answer:slow load time/run time, something's weird

To give a little more info on the symptoms...

When I open my browser (usually Firefox, occasionally IE) it takes several seconds (15 - 20) to open a window. Sometimes nothing will happen for 30 or so seconds and I'll need to click on my browser again, at which point when the browser opens, all the broswers open that I clicked on. In other words, if I click on the browser 3 or 4 times because it wasn't opening, when it finally opens, there are 3 or 4 windows open at the same time.

Next problem, when I click on a link to go to another site, nothing happens for several seconds, then eventually the new page will be displayed.

The time between clicking on a link to when the new page opens is ridiculously slow.

Thanks for all the help.

I recently got a virus which was giving me a circle with a white "X" in it, sending a message about how my computer has been infected. I don't remember what it said because I deleted it. But Prior to this I get a Just-In-Time Debugging menu which pops up
which then says, Please select a debugger.

Also I get redirected a lot from google to legit websites, such as monster market place among other things.

I ran a Malewarebytes scan and a spybot s+d scan and they both found things, but now when I scan it shows up clean.
Also when I had the virus it was telling me to uninstall Maleware Bytes.

Thanks for any help

Hello my pc spec are:

O.S-Win7 32bits
Micro-AMD Athlon Dual Core 4050e 2.1ghz
RAM-2gb DDR2
G.Card-ATI Radeon 2400PRO 256MB DDR2
HDD-SATA-II WDC 500GB

And all the games i play have a really slow slow load time, compared it with my friend Notebook wich have similar spec and it load 3 time faster than mine.
Once inside the game it go ok, but i thing it could be faster too. The main problem is the load time, what could be the cause of it?

Answer:Slow load time on all games.

Check in Task Manager...Processes tab to see what's loading. Compare this to your friend's system to see what the differences are.

Also, try this to see what's slowing things down:

Quote:

Task Manager:
Also, you can monitor the system for excessive resource consumption. To do this, open up Task Manager by right clicking on the Task Bar.
Then select the Processes tab.
Then select the "Show processes from all users" button (in the lower left)
Then select the View menu item, then select "Select columns"
In the Select columns window, place checkmarks next to I/O Reads and I/O Other.
Click OK to accept the changes.
Resize the Task Manager window so you can see the most of the columns.
Wait for the system to freeze.
Look at all of the columns to see if there's anything that looks excessively high - if so, let us know the Image name of the process.
FWIW - System Idle Process is supposed to have high CPU readings - anything else with high CPU readings is an issue.

Hi everyone, I recently had a terrible root kit virus get into my computer that I built recently and I had to get it taken care of at my local shop due to not being able to access my drives or anything. The computer is now fully operational again and going just as strong as it was before the virus got in, except for two things.

The virus shut my computer off before I could even figure out what was going on. So I turned my computer on to right notice that my motherboard was loading extraordinarily slow. I have a 990FXA-GD80 motherboard made by MSI. The Motherboard usually loads within seconds and I'm at the Windows logo. I have an SSD for my OS and then a 1TB for files.

I'm just trying to figure out why the motherboard is so slow now, I will wait for around 15-20 seconds alone just trying to get passed the initial post codes that the motherboard reads on start up before even seeing my splash screen for my motherboard. I also can't seem to even access my BIOS anymore, I've tried every single F key possible, but nothing.

Answer:Slow Motherboard Load Time

Dig you try the del key. Below text is from the manual.
Press DEL to enter Setup Menu, F11 to enter Boot Menu
If the message disappears before you respond and you still wish to enter Setup, restart
the system by turning it OFF and On or pressing the RESET button. You may also restart
the system by simultaneously pressing <Ctrl>, <Alt>, and <Delete> keys.
Have you tried the Bios reset?

Anytime that I reboot my computer, it seems to take an inordinate amount of time before Internet Explorer will launch. I am attaching a HJT log, and I would appreciate any feedback.

Answer:Internet Explorer Slow to Load First Time

Loading apps taking alot of time. Not sure if I have a problem or it's the state of my HD. Firefox on first load takes about 1 min. I watched the Task Manager processes and noticed svchost(network service, system) and ashServ and ashMaiSv had most activity for about 45 sec before Firefox loads. There was also periods of near 10 secs when processes were idle, which I assume is the disc waiting. Other apps which use databases also take long times to load initially. I have a 2.4 Gh Pentium 4, 1g RAM, and a 5400rpm 60g HD which is 55% full. I've recently de-fragged, disabled services and many startups, and unchecked indexing of HD. None of these steps improved the loads. Looking for advice on whether I may have a problem or not, or other things I can do. The PC is 7 years old. WOuld upgrading HD to a 7200 rpm help? More RAM? Or, is it time to move on to a newer pc?

for some reason my laprtop is running really slow when multitasking (or one tasking for that matter) i7-5500U @ 2.4GHz8GB ramGPU GeForce 840m i'm compareing it by my last laptop (HP) that was 250 crap specs ... it died on me and bought this one and oddly enough it feels slower, it takes forever to load games, apps programs etc. they run better but that is after it load is it the processor or the HDD  honestly i hope it's the processor, to much of a hassle to change to a SSD and have to reinstall windows... EDIT: currently running W10 it was the same with W8.1

computer is a lenovo v570

This is an issue that started a few months ago..I have had fresh installs of windows 10 and linux so it's not an issue with background programs. For example if I open my web browser(or any program) it takes an excessive amount of time to bring it up after a reboot. Thereafter it opens up quickly(cause it's now in the ram I suppose). It sometimes may take about 10 seconds to simply open something like a web browser.

Is it most likely a failing hard drive? I haven't had any other problems but would like to get this fixed. I'm not sure how to troubleshoot from here. I was thinking about buying a replacement drive but would like to make sure of the issue first. Thanks, Nathan

I'm using windows xp.

When I click start then click my documents, my computer or control panel etc it takes an age (about 10 seconds) for the folder to appear on the screen.

Once it's there I can navigate about at normal speed but it's rather annoying having to wait a while for it.

I've ran ad-aware several times and I have Spyware doctor running.

Anything I can do to get around it?

Thanks

Hi, I have an ideapad U350 with lenovo windows 7.  its slow, real slow. i have tryed new install of windows 7, with drivers and all. no bloatware on it.tryed scan for virus and malware, no luck.then i have replaced the old hard drive with an intel SSD from my PC, (i know its ok), after that its quicker to boot.but after 1min to 1 - 1min i can see the CPU load go 100% and then its slow, some times i can get lucky and its ok after a reboot, but now its always 100% load.i can see no programs running and in the process wiev there is only programs/utilities running 1-5% of the CPU, so i can't figure out what it is that makes the CPU go 100% load.when i boot in "windows problem solving state" (i think you call it that) its all ok 0-5% load. i only use the pc for quick web browsing and play movies when im away from home any advice or known problems i could look for? All help is more than welcome! Thanks in advance

Answer:U350 real slow, 100% load after some time

hi Allan_84,

When you said you boot into "windows problem solving state", did you mean Safe Mode?

If the CPU load is low in Safe Mode then there's likely programs and/or services (microsoft) running in the background that's eating up CPU resources. Some of these are essential but some are not.

Things that you can try:
1. Set the power plan to High Performance

2. Perform a clean boot
   - this temporarily disables non-microsoft apps/services that are running on startup.

3. Follow this guide on how to disable unnecessary microsoft services to speed up the system
   - since the U350 runs on a SU2700 CULV (single core), you want to squeze every bit of resources possible.

3. Follow this guide on how to set processor affinity setting to gain performance.

Regards

I've been testing the boot times of a PC I'm trying to fix up and it's currently 1m 45-55s. The goal is to cut down this time as much as possible.

Would the fact that this used to be a corporate machine and on a domain be an issue? Would moving it to a local workgroup profile make a difference?

Here are a few things I've done:

Ensure system is clean of adware & malware
Disabled MS Mobile Sync Centre
Setting wait time to 0 for network in gpedit.msc did not make a difference

Removed Trend Micro security and replaced with MBAM & MSE
Removed unnecessary programs from startup (such as Java SE update, Adobe Reader). Programs in startup are:
SynTPEnh.exe (touchpad)
Hot Keys: hkcmd.exe
Logmein
Family Safety: fsui.exe
MSE
Persistence: igfxpers.exe (not sure what this does)

Disk Defrag - no changes
Cleared all unnecessary files and wiped free space using CCleaner

Specs:

Win 7 Pro 64 bit
RAM: 4 GB (3.87 usable)
Windows Experience index: 3.4
Low score to Gaming Graphics

Questions:

Would it help to move from a domain to a workgroup (local) profile?
Should I just increase the ram to 8 GB?
Is there anything else I can do that may help boot times?
Any help is appreciated!

Answer:Slow load time Windows 7 x64 Pro - domain or workgroup?

I've noticed that the system has got slow to boot over time. It now takes 2 minutes 11 seconds (give or take).
Today I downloaded Process Monitor from Windows Sysinternals as recommended here
Use Process Monitor To Optimize The Windows Boot Process - gHacks Tech News
The resultant filtered log reveals that, of the 4383 .sys files that load, 6 of them take 1 minute 43 seconds between them.
The following file is an extract of the log (sorted by load time) showing the worse offenders.
Logfile.pdf
I regularly run CCleaner and similar programs and the system is protected by Norton. I have no reason to believe I have any virus or malware installed.
Any ideas how I can speed up these loads?
Please see my System Specs for details.

Answer:Slow boot. Several .sys files take long time to load.

My first thought would be msconfig/Startup/Non Microsoft Services.

Could you use this tutorial by Brink to post pictures of both?

Answer:Solved: Browsers will not load microsoft website but will load FB, Google etc etc

Either it's a problem server side for them, which would be an issue with your IP,
or a process/service altered some of your core system settings on your end which blocks the microsoft website for some reason....., you can try a different IP address just to make sure it's not server side for them, and then if that doesn't work I am not sure what to tell you other than reinstalling all browsers, and eventually refromatting if reinstalling browsers does not work.

IF it is an IP issue it could be something with your network, if a network admin blocked the microsoft website, or even theoretically your ISP if there was a strange issue with them, however that would be rare.

ok this is gonna be a bit long but i want the details there. the issue pc is my old pc. it has windows 7 its an asus msn-la motherboard i cloned this drive and used it in my new pc. after a few months my new pc's drive died and i took the old drive from the issue pc(witch was not giving issues at this time) and stuck it into my new pc until my replacement drive came. when i got the replacement drive i cloned the drive again onto the replacement drive and then put the new drive in the new pc had no issues there. put the old drive back into the issue pc (this is when issues started) the pc booted up to the windows desktop loading screen fast but once it got there it sat there for like 5 min before loading into windows. once it loaded into windows it was un usable for around 10 min while it loaded background stuff. once it finally loads into windows if i try to open anything its still responding extremely slow. is there anything i could do to fix this or is this going to me a re install only situation? i did try to use a windows 7 disk to do a startup repair but it claimed i couldn't do it because i dident install from that disk.

Google Chrome has become slow to load and then it is very slow loading web pages and navigating round web sites.
From previous experience I thought this may be due to a virus but Malwarebytes has found nothing.
Can you help please.
Hope this is in the right place-if not please advise.

Answer:Google Chrome slow to load and slow to load web pages

Further info.
Noticed 2 instances of msiexec.exe running in Task Manager.
Googled this and found that if genuine it is part of Windows installer
but can also be a virus.
Did a search and found MSIEXEC.EXE-2F8A8CAE.pf
Googled this and found it is probably Malware.
If so can you help me get rid of it please

Past week i've had really slow internet speeds, I've tried reset my box. No one else is using my router- it's secure. So i ran a malewarebytes scan, had two trojans. But i still believe i've got a virus or two hidden somewhere. The internet generally just stops any loading of the website and just stays on a white screen.

I am trying to solve this problem on a friend's laptop. It is a Sony Vaio with Windows 7 64bit, using Chrome. Bought within the last year. I can play videos from sites like youtube, hulu, and sports sites, but when I try to play a video from putlocker, gorillavid, or other streaming sites typically used for videos like anime or tv shows the video either doesn't load (just spins) or takes a REALLY long time to load, almost like it is downloading the full video before it plays.

I borrowed another laptop from the library which also has Windows 7 and Chrome and all the videos play fine on it using the same internet connection, so it is definitely something local to this machine.

I have searched the net for three days trying to find a solution, but to no avail. I have the latest versions of flash, java, etc. I have tried older versions of flash. I've disabled the antivirus and firewall. Disabled the built-in flash plugin for chrome. I really am not sure what else to do. If anyone has any suggestions I would readily welcome them. I have tried other browsers as well and had similar issues.

Answer:Online videos do not load or take a very long time to load

No ideas I guess?

The malicious program also corrupts most of the files I download, things like CCcleaner and ComboFix can't be run as a result of that corruption. At the first stages of the infection, i noticed from various kaspersky activity logs of the malicious .dlls (\system32\poveyawi.dll, ~lazogiya.dl, ~sidenohe.dll, ~feyimupa.dll, ~lisepeyo.dll, ~samotaso.dll) that the infection began from my internet browser's temp folder, then spread. When I remove these dlls from my registry and they are re-entered within a few seconds. Initially i was directed to one of those fake anti-virus sites and asked to download an antivirus program, here are the entries before I deleted them successfully;

Hello, i just registered to this forum. I upgraded my hardware from AMD AM2+ platform to AMD AM3+, so basicly i changed my motherboard and memory( Asus M5A9, kingston 1333 4x4Gb), everything else is the same - CPU- AMD Phenom X6 1055, GPU- Gigabyte HD5830, OLD HDD (more than 3 years im sure, mb 5years) Seagate Sata 500GB. My previous system which was Gigabyte AM2+ MA790GX+Apacer 800mhz 8Gb DDR2 was fine and no BSODs ever.
Oh and becouse i have an IDE dvd and cdrom devices i bought PCI/ide adapter. Havent put the driver for it yet .

The thing is that i use the old OS, ussualy i do backup of my data and put it on an external HDD and than i format the HDD and put the fresh OS with all the drivers. So i feal that it might be of a drivers conflict of somesort, ive researched forums and ppl say that mb increase the voltage for the memory becouse all slots are filled but i never touched the voltage settings so i dont know how the memory voltage even called .
Ive done tests i did use OCCT linpack for 30 mins and it was stable and fine, use my 3d graphics app's to fill all the ram and under huge lag it still worked fine and no BSOD after.
BSOD happened id say more in idle times: surfing the web in google chrome i had few unusual messages about something cannot allocate memory 3 times in 2 mins and than finaly BSOD'd. Second time i had a strange issue - no sound again after 8-10 hours of fine work, i clicked on realtek driver and it said failed to :something: the device and in... Read more

My Win.XP was too slow so i start to improve is performance. I made many changes since hardware, like increase RAM (before 128 now 635), to Xp configurations like change windows classic display, defrag, cleanup, boot files defrag, use cachamen to optimeze memory usage, desable unused windows xp services , changing registry for a faster turn of and many others. However every first time i launch IE browser it takes more or less a minute to load. Is this normal? How long should take? I then instaled mozilla and i had the same problem. During the short period of time it happens other programs get slower or even got block when i give them some order. But when IE is finaly loaded the other programs desblocked almost instantly. Beside that during this time Task Manager displays 100% CPU usage. Is this the problem? Its normal? Its because a i have a old Pentium III 735 MHz? In a general way my computer is now much more faster. It should startup faster but thats other problem to handle. By the way any one can tell if overclocking will significantly enhance my computer performance?

Answer:every time I launch IE for the first time it takes to long to load

u should identify which program is causing ur cpu 2 max out @ 100% as that will certainly cause any program, ie or firefox 2 open very slowly! it's not normal 4 that 2 happen... & just 4 grins, memory optimizers r bunk! they don't really work except in the short term. they take resources from other programs 2 increase ur memory size but it isn't long b4 ur usage is back down 2 where it was

i noticed a while ago that my internet explorer browser would never be able to connect to sites, but it wasn't a concern because i used firefox and opera. the same thing happened with firefox, but i still had opera so i ignored the issue. when opera 9.10 came out, i downloaded it and installed it, but then my opera stopped loading as well. i can still connect, as my desktop weather widget and p2p programs are still working, but i can't do anything to get my internet browsers to work. i've tried the winsock repair and registry cleaners, but nothing helps. anyone have any experience with this or suggestions? below is my hjt log.

I am running Vista Premium 32-bit on a Sony VAIO with 2GB RAM.
Neither Intenet Explorer nor Firefox can get to the Internet.
I can ping anything on my home-network which includes four computers. Moreover, I can resolve DNS like www.yahoo.com and www.google.com by pinging.
I can ping my ISPs gateway/DNS server. I can ping a loopback address.
I have loaded addition features in Control Panel/Turn Windows Features on or off. These relate to HTTP etc.
A route print brings back even the Class A address of the ISP.
I am now at a lost.
Please help

I am using Win 7 Home Premium 64 bit and on switching on this morning Firefox 28 would not load. Task Manager shows the FF process as running but nothing actually happens. The same occurs for IE and Chrome. The browsers load in Safe Mode (where we are now) but I cannot imagine which of my startup programs, which have not changed for months, would suddenly be clashing with browsers today. I have reset my router without effect and I am still able to download e-mail via Mailwasher and Thunderbird. I ran a check with DDS but cannot make out anything from the log.

Can anyone offer any advice please?

IE. Netscape. Firefox. is there one called Opera? You get the message. The reason I ask is to test the website in some, a few, them all? Who knows. How many do you reckon then?Hanx!K.

Answer:How many browsers should I load up?

There is one called Opera, there's also Safari for Mac users and various ones for Linux etc. It's not always feasible to test them all out on your machine, but there's a free website called Browsershotsclick herethat you can put your url in and after about 10 - 45 minutes depending on current load, you'll get screenshots of your website as seen by various mac/windows/linux browsers. It takes a little while but its free. Commercial/paid for variants of this are sitevista click here and browsercam click here - these are obviously quicker than the free site and offer a few more options. Browsercam for example offers Blackberry and other mobile browser options plus VNC remote access that allows you to test interactive elements like rollovers, flashanimations and drop down menus. It has a free 24 hour trial.Hope this helps some.

I've always used Firefox and when I turned on my laptop this morning, it shows me the "won't load" page. So I tried IE and it didn't load too. I restarted my laptop 3 times and it still won't load. I've checked my connection, I do have internet connection as I can connect to Yahoo Messenger and AIM.So I went online using my dad's laptop and downloaded other browsers (Netscape, Flock), save the .exe file on a flash disk and installed it on my laptop. It still didn't work.I checked the firewall settings and all browsers are NOT blocked.Help! I really don't know what to do.Thanks!

Answer:HELP: All browsers won't load!

I don't know if this is the right forum for this, but I couldn't figure out a better one, so here goes...

Lately both my desktop and laptop have had problems loading pages in any browser. The problem is somewhat intermittent, and clearing the cache usually helps, but not always. I end up having to clear the caches in all browsers regularly just to get any work done, and sometimes even that doesn't work.

My laptop is running Vista, and my new desktop, Windows 7 (64 bit). I've checked for malware, viruses, and firewall issues on both computers, occasionally finding something and fixing it, but still no resolution to the browsers stalling or refusing to load pages. I get error messages that some pages are not found and others just won't load.

My ISP delivers inconsistent connection speeds, but lately that's gotten a bit steadier, usually hovering around 1 Mbps, with occasional swings up and down. When I've had the loading problem, I've checked the speed, and it seems OK.

Is it possible that this is a router issue? Or is there some other explanation why this seems to be a problem across OS versions and hardware configurations?

Answer:Browsers won't load

Before you do all this could you go to command prompt and type.

ping www.google.co.uk
and see if you get a reply back.

1. What does it say at the bottom of the page when it won't load.

2.Is the lights on your router all green in other words are the lights
on.

3 are you on wireless or dial up if on wireless broadband look on the right handside of the system tray bottom right of the desktop and tell me what
It says about your connection.

I use firefox as my browser. Lately some websites either won't load or take in upwards of 20 minutes. My virus scanner keeps catching virus's. I have run my virus scanner(CA VIRUS SCANNER), ad-aware, spybot, spysubtract, and superantispyware, they all cuaght something the first run through but now come up clean. i then browsed the forums here and found a similar post. I tried some of the suggestions there, which were to repair my network connection in the control panel, and to set firefox's network connection to autodetect, these seem to have helped but some sites are still slow particularly pogo games(my wife)pogo.com loads up fine it's the popup game windows that have the problem. thanks for any help.

I just formatted my windows 7 a month ago and re-installed it . Few weeks ago i changed my modem to Netgear N150 modem + router . After that Most of the websites don't load . Eg : Facebook , yahoo , ms support , etc . I was scanning for any malware or virus but i didn't find any . And i hardly installed software in my computer . Even this forums is not loaded fully . My connection is really bad its oly 512kbps connection but most of the websites load in >10secs but now a days in any browser they are not loading at all. Not loading in the sense they are loaded half or not at all . Otherwise the loading thing is going on and on . It never ends. I checked my connection speed with speeedtest.net and got 524kbps which is my speed . When i download things i get the correct downspeed which i used to get early . But now most of the website are not loaded . I have norton and malwarebytes installed scanned the computer like ten times now . I first taut that dey both wer blocking web traffic and so i shut them down and i didn't find any improvements :'(
Please help me out guys . If you can TV me and check my routers it would be great

Answer:Some pages do not load in any of the browsers

This happened with a Netgear router I set up for a friend. He uses some kind of real estate software that accesses the internet to generate maps and randomly one day it began failing to connect. I spent hours looking at the computer's firewall and checking the program's settings before I realized it was the router. Something got changed with respect to the traffic it allows.

Were you recently changing any router settings such as the firewall? I can't remember what the exact setting was but I can look into it and see what I changed.

I've been searching for a week now and still haven't found a solution to my problem.. I'm beyond frustrated So here's my issue..About a week ago, my internet went down in the area.  I didn't realize it was the whole area at first, I though it was just something wrong with our household internet so I unplugged and plugged our router back in [which has always worked before when we had an issue in the house] but no luck.  My PS3 was telling me it was a DNS error so I went to my router configuration and reset all the settings.  Keep in mind I really don't know too much about all this stuff so I just try things I know how to do and see if it works, hahaSo the next morning, I found out the internet was down in our area.  That afternoon it was working again but I still couldn't connect so my brother unplugged, and plugged the modem back in and voila!  it worked again.Only problem was that half of my browsers would not load pages.  IE worked, and so did Firefox.. but Flock and Opera would not connect.  It was telling me it couldn't connect to remote server.  I tried to install the beta of google chrome, but it said it couldn't connect to the internet to install it.  And I downloaded the Windows version of Safari.. not loading any pagesI've searched google endlessly and done everything that people have said would work, and still nothing.  Last night I updated Firefox, which was working.... Starting today, neither of my browsers, IE6 of Firefox 3.0.3 (the default) will load. There must something in common with both, since they were both affected at the same time. Worked fine yesterday. I ran some Spybot and AdAware before shutting down. Today, after booting up, FF started loading, then just sat there with the progress bar stopped halfway and the loading circle stopped. Had to shut down the FF process with the three finger salute. Tried IE6 and it comes up with the error and apology that it needs to shut down (no way of sending an error report since the browser won't open.)

I've spend an entire day scouring the web for a solution but can't come up with one. One MS support document suggested running sfc /scannow-- to no avail. Then I tried reinstalling IE6 from the orig. SP2 disk by running %systemroot%\inf, and right clicking install from disk ie.inf in the windows\inf.folder according to directions.

Tried a lot of other things to, to no avail. Fortunately, everything else including my Eudora email client works fine. I have a live internet connection. The computer can ping sites download various software updates as long as they don't need a web browser to do so.

Since both my browsers are dysfunctional, there must be a common or shared registry entry, file or dll that got corrupted. (This is being written on a different computer--both identical Dell Dimension 9100s w/ 4 GB ram and 260 HDs.

Since they're configur... Read more

Answer:Browsers suddenly won't load, XP SP2

Thanks, my Firefox 3.0.3 issue is now resolved. However, I still cannot figure out why IE 6 will not work anymore. Unfortunately, some municipal sites require IE in order to function properly, even though IE 6 is a piece of junk.

What the hell happened to make it stop working I wonder. No big loss, except every on in a while, FF is not recognized, as in some town GIS sites--hope that will change...

None of the browsers (IE, Chrome or FF) on my PC will load webpages following the installation of SP3 on Windows XP.

I can ping sites and also my email still works (not webmail).

I have a wireless router and all others PC's using the same router can view webpages so it looks like it is a problem on the PC that is preventing the loading of webpages.

I tried uninstalling the wireless adaptor and reinstalling but that made no difference.

I had a malware problem about a week ago but that was cleaned with the help of the experts on this website. I then proceeded to install SP3 the other day and since then I can't get webpages to load.

A few hours ago my browsers(I.E and Firefox) stopped loading any sites. I've ran 2 Virus scanners(Trend Micro Online Scanner, The Cleaner) and Ad-Aware. Now my browsers just randomly started opening a few sites including this one, but still majority of the sites such as even google and gmail won't open. Someone on IRC told me maybe my DNS is down but he logged off before giving me more details. In addition, I can't even update my definitions for ad-aware because it can't connect to its server. Anyone have a solution?

I use http://www.retailmenot.com 3 or 4 times a day (go on it now, i bet it's working for you -_-)

A couple of days ago i tried loading it up, and it simply doesn't work!

I get the following error is IE:

And in firefox, simply a blank screen:
As i said, it's the ONLY website that wont work, and was fine until a few days ago. BUT, theres a few strange happenings;

Firstly, on the second day of it not working, it managed to connect for about an hour, but when i came back to it later that evening it would not work again (i had not done anything differently, simply typed it into the url)

Secondly, I can access it from anywhere apart from my house! Both my home computer and laptop will not connect, whereas at school/work/friends it will!

I have searched for days for a remedy, nothing i have tried has worked!

Hi,
I am using Windows 7 Home and recently have run into a problem with my browsers, Firefox, IE, and Chrome. I am connected to the internet however the browsers only respond within the first 20 or so minutes of a restart, then become unresponsive. Furthermore Firefox seems to be a victim of a redirect problem with google. I have used mbam but no fix. Spybot has revealed no infections and I'm not sure what to do with my Hijack this log. I also tried to renew my ip address but no fix either.

Other computers can use the internet just fine.

SOS!

Am I helpless?

Question: browsers wont load

Internet Explorer, Firefox and Opera won't load. Chrome will. When Firefox is "loaded" it is in the list of processes on CTRl Alt delete, but nothing is on the screen even after Alt-Tab. I have run chkdsk - no change. What is the cure please?

Answer:browsers wont load

My first thought would be a malware attack. Using your working browser download Malwarebytes (the free version) - update it and then run in safe mode. Remove anything it finds. Available from click here

Hey guys. I am not able to load any pages using Firefox or Internet explorer. I have tried resetting my windsock and itp and it still won't work. I've also tried deleting any 3rd party firewalls I had but that didn't work either. I just got this laptop a week ago too so ya. Any help you can give me I would really appreciate. Thanks

Answer:My Internet browsers won't load anything

Ok, need a bit more info. Are you able to load with any other browser?

Are you wirelessly or physically connected. If you are physically connected to a router, check your IP address of your system and see if you have one assigned. It will usually be a 192.168.1.x. If it is anything else, your aren't connected. Check your cable.

If it's wireless, have you gone through the connection steps to connect to your wireless router?

Some system specs would help too.

I recently purchased a new computer. Its a Dell 3000, Windows XP, 1 gig RAM... For the past few days when I'm online images don't always load. It's random after each refresh the problem either gets better or worse. It happens to any image or icon. I use firefox 1.0.7 so I tried IE, still the same problem. I'm out of guesses. I have McAffe Security Center installed with Antivirus, Privacy Service and Firewall. I tried disabling it by closing it out and the problem still exists. Please someone help. Thanks in advance.

Answer:Images Won't Load in Browsers

Problem is "I have McAffe Security Center installed with Antivirus, Privacy Service and Firewall." It will block images from sites unless they are on your safe list - either change the settings - or better yet - unistall it and go with better - less inasive - not to mention free programs to meet your needs.

i.e. AVG for anti-virus www.grisoft.com

This problem started just last night, where no forms of media (audio, video, or even ads!) will load on any site. I use Google Chrome, but the problem still persists on Internet Explorer. When trying to load a video on Youtube, the page will do one of two things. The most common is the video will not load at all and only show a black box, then I will get a popup notification that the Flash Shockwave Plugin has stopped working, and if I have it stop the plugin the tab crashes completely. Sometimes the video will load for ~1/8-3/4 of the way though but not play. It will show a still of the first frame of the video, and I can skip through the video, but it will only ever show stills. Dailymotion also crashes, and Pandora tries to load songs but just keeps skipping through them. I also cannot access any of the Yahoo! pages, save for the mail which loads up fairly well. I also tried loading up a video on Hulu, which worked for a few seconds then froze.

It may also be related that my audio mixer isn't working either and I can't get any sounds to play at all, but I have always had minor issues with it freezing up so it may be nothing.

I have restarted my computer, reinstalled both Chrome and Adobe Flash, and checked for all updates. I have also looked for conflicting software to Chrome in the browser and shut down all other programs to see if any of them was just slowing the computer down too much.

Any help would be much appreciated, I am just stumped on what to do

Well this is how it started...

My computer was infected with something and I decided to do a full recovery on it. As I tried to do a full recovery, something went wrong. And when it restarted, I got the message that I was missing a "hal.dll" file of some sort. I didn't know what to do so I decided to use my HP mini CD which is the Windows XP operating system and tried to install it on my Emachines computer.

Now when it starts, it gives me two options of which operating system I want to use. My first question is:

Is there a way I can recover the old factory settings of the Emachines and the pre-installed Windows it had on there?

And now lately, my computer has been running slow, specifically the browsers. It will freeze for at least 15 minutes or so depending on the content of the page until it is fully loaded.

Am I infected? And can I fix this?

Answer:My browsers take awhile to load...

What antivirus did you use now? Do you already perform antivirus scan?

Hi everyone,

I spent an entire day browsing thru other topics with the same problem and I tried all the solutions that were listed, but to no avail - using win 8.1, certain sites just will not load in any browsers (tried Firefox, Opera, Chrome, IE) on my desktop pc. Usually they get stuck at "connecting to.. (site)" and then time out and once in a while (in about once every 50 timeouts) result an xml parsing error ("unexpected parser state")

Examples of the sites that won't load:
answers.microsoft.com
videos on vimeo.com
any of the podcasts from The YoGPoD
avast.com

Some clues that might help finding the problem:
-It's probably not the router or the ISP since all the other devices (a laptop and a tablet with win8.1 and an android phone) load the same sites without any problems, even if I connect the laptop via the same ethernet cable to the router
-I'm able to load the sites via proxy
-The sites won't load in windows safe mode or firefox safe mode either

A list of things that I tried but didn't work:
-full system scan with multiple antivirus and anti-malware programs, and then disabling all the firewall and antivirus protection
-updating drivers
-changing the MTU size
-ipconfig release, dns flush and winsock reset in the command line
-using Google's public dns (8.8.8.8/8.8.4.4) and opendns
-creating a new windows user account
-restarting the router, updating the firmware, changing the ethernet cable
-disabling IPv6

I'm getting really desperate and an... Read more

Hello..I was originally using Mozilla Firefox until one day it stopped working..which by that i mean that the browser itself would open and load as normal but the spot that says "New tab" or whatever site youre at, would just say "blank page" and stay that way indefinitely..so I installed google Chrome after giving up on Firefox.. until today when it basically did the same thing (out of nowhere, just like last time)..the browser loads but no page will load AT ALL! And same with internet explorer! the only way I am even on and typing this is that IE 64 bit DOES work..but i can't leave it this way and use 64 bit regularly because it simply will not use or download flash, so NO games or movies are possible..which is just not barable to me! I dont know what to do..i've uninstalled and reinstalled, unplugged router and reset it, restored the internet options through control panel..i am out of ideas and i dont know what has even caused this, much less what to do to resolve this! But i just can't deal with the current state of things! ANY HELP is appreciated! thanks!!

Answer:None of my browsers will load pages!

Open Internet Explorer. Click Tools > Internet Options > Connections > Lan settings > Proxy server > Advanced > delete proxy server settings > click OK > uncheck all boxes > click OK.

In Firefox, click Tools > Options... > General > Advanced > Network > Settings > delete proxy settings > select No proxy > click OK.

If that works,

Please click HERE to download and install HijackThis.

Run it and select Do a system scan and save a logfile from the Main Menu.

The log will be saved in Notepad. Copy and paste the log in your next post.

Hi guys, hoping someone can help, I bought a new laptop about a month ago and it's worked fine, I installed google chrome because I find it the best browser and that has been fine, I was downloading something the other day and I ended up with another browser on my desktop called torch, I'd never heard of it so I loaded it up and since I did that google chrome stopped working, so I tried loading up my Internet explorer but that never loaded anything either, so I then uninstalled torch completely but chrome still didn't work and then tried to uninstall google chrome but the computer won't let me stating that I need to close all google chrome tabs including in windows 8 mode and try again.I'm so stuck and have no Internet at all because my browsers won't open,
Can anyone help please
Thanks in advance

Answer:None of my browsers will load the Internet

Try a system restore. Choose the restore point that should have been made right before torch installed. If not, choose one farther back, but only go back as far as needed. You want to choose the closest one right before installing the program.

You can get there by typing system restore in Windows 8 search bar.

Hello all,
My computer has recently become infected. I've scanned with Malwarebyte's Antimalware, Norton Internet Security, and SuperAntiSpyware. Norton didn't show any results, but Antimalware and Superantispyware both removed a decent amount of items, however I do not think my computer is entirely clean. Whenever I open Firefox, if it even opens, all of my google searches get redirected to different sites. The only site I remember being directed to was zanuga.com, but there were others. This also happens on IE8. I've tried opening Firefox in safemode, and I get the same redirects. I've posted my HiJack This log below.

Oh, and also, I've noticed the creation of HelpAssistant and HelpAssistant.desktop folders in my Documents and Settings directory.

Happy Holidays,

Good evening,

I've been having issues with all browsers since a recent re-install of Win 7 Ultimate.

I've never had browsing issues before, and recently installed a new MB & RAM because my adoring nephew decided he wanted to 'fix' my front panel USB sockets with a screwdriver. Bless his cotton socks, and he's still alive but managed to fry everything else.

Since my install I've painstakingly re-installed everything from before and sat through a couple of years worth of updates, yet my browsing capability is no where near what it used to be.

All graphics, videos, Ads, particularly in Face Book, BBC iPlayer, You Tube and miniclip are very slow to load - even general web page load up take 6-10 seconds to fill all the page images.

I've run countless AV's, Spybot, Stopzilla in standard and safe mode - installed firefox tweaks to load pages quicker, checked to make sure my drivers are up to date, but no avail.

Please could I call upon your expertise to help me return my browsing enjoyment back to normality?

Thanks & Best Regards,
Chris

Kept ignoring prompts to upgrade to 8.1. Finally went ahead and did it and now neither IE or Chrome will load web pages. The programs themselves open but nothing happens. Not even a "can't load page" message. I am connected to the internet and I tried a few apps that seemed to work as normal. I've found this question online and followed a few instructions that didn't work. One worked for a minute but it went back. I'm not super tech savvy so I don't even know what it did, just followed some command prompts. I contacted Samsung support and they had me turn off IE under "turn windows features on or off" and turn it back on. It worked. For about two minutes. Now nothing again. Any help is appreciated.

Thanks

This is a problem that affects ALL web browsers I use, which include 4 very different ones.
Basically, the problem is that randomly, any one or more websites I may go to, whether I have been to them before or not, will think a different website is located at the address instead, and load the site as if it were the one it thinks it is. I may for example load this site, and it may end up thinking the address is for google instead, and load google instead of this site. It is very annoying to say the least.
However, whenever I clear my DNS cache, every site goes back to normal, and all sites load correctly, though it only is fixed temporarily before the problem starts happening again, usually when I close a web browser, so i think it may be a problem regarding my DNS. MY computer is a Dell Dimension E310 running Windows XP Media Center Edition.

Also, another probably unrelated problem is that it is currently impossible for me to download Firefox add-ons when they are being downloaded from Mozilla's official server for add-ons. The add-on installer is unable to find the add-ons on the server. Even clearing my DNS cache doesn't solve this one.

If anyone might have some solutions to my main problem, please share them. Any solutions to the second problem are not as high a priority for me, but would be nice also. Thank you for your time.

So my computer has been running fine for a while and then yesterday Firefox stopped loading pages mid-session. The internet is still connected (programs can get online without a browser) but trying to load any page within Firefox or IE will just result in a never ending load (it doesn't even time out). The browsers will work in safemode however.

Any ideas?

Answer:Internet Connected but Browsers Won't Load

how are you connected via a modem or through an office internet connection? Try check your ip address settings, the gateway IP?
Check your LAN cable is it properly connected, try also to ping your Internet Service Providers router if you will get a reply.
I reckon its your IP address settings.

Hi
I have Windows XP sp3 Dell Inspiron 1501 and I notice that any web browser I use takes ages to load and when it does, it soon becomes unresponsive. I use Chrome, IE8 and sometimes Firefox. IE8 still becomes unresponsive even with add-ons disabled. This is what I have done so far:

Disk Frag
Search for disk errors
IOBIT tuneup
CHKDSK in safe mode
Ran Virus anti-spyware
Ran Malwarebytes

All come back clean. It's only the web browsers this happens on, rest is fine.
Anymore pointers, would be most welcome.

Hello everyone, im new here. I have a problem with my new laptop i have recently bought. Dell Inspiron 7537 15inch OS 8.1 (after upgrade from 8.0) 16gb RAM, Samsung SSD SM 841 256gb. Lets go to the point - When i try to load a page, usually i have to refresh that page, because i get an error like "No connection" or sometimes it loads only HTML code. I saw many threads regarding that but non of them had helped me. Its happening with all browsers i have: IE, CHROME, MOZZILA.
Things i have done:
I installed a malware anrivirus, and performed a cleanup.
I disabled all "Startup" features from Task manager.
I started the laptop in Safe mode with netword - it didnt help.
I updated the WiFi drivers, from intel's website.
I reinstalled the browsers, and cleaned all ( history, cache, cookies, etc ).

Im getting out of ideas and im a bit worried.
I've mentioned the model of the laptop because i saw that many users from Dell and Samsung were claiming about same issue. I didnt notice if the browsers were working fine in OS 8 because i updated it immediately. I think a software or other is corrupting the connection. I have a phone and other laptop, and they are working fine with my home WiFi.

Answer:Firefox won't load a site (Other browsers will)

Hi there,

Try flushing the DNS and see if that would help. Open up the command prompt and type in the following command = "ipconfig /flushdns". Once the DNS is flushed, reboot your computer and then try accessing the site once again.

Also, try accessing the site from another computer and see if the site works on another computer.

Hi guys,

I couldn't figure out how to fix this by myself, so I need to post this annoying problem in here. Most images couldn't load properly in some websites, i.e Tumblr. I tried all different browsers, they are acting the same.

I tried clearing all caches, cookies, etc in all browsers with CCleaner, scanned my computer with Avast! and Malwarebytes, restarted my computer, disabled adblock extensions.. and still the same, it didn't fix successfully.

Anyone know why are they acting like this, and tell me how to fix it, please?

I'm copying and pasting this from a post I made on Reddit in hopes that someone can help me:

Here's my system specs.

Last night my computer was working perfectly fine, I was watching youtube videos and having a good time, and then suddenly Chrome just decided that it wasn't going load any tabs. I closed it, tried opening Microsoft Edge. Didn't Work. Tried opening Firefox. Didn't work. One website suggested a rootkit problem so I went into safe mode and ran a full scan for rootkits on MalwareBytes which found nothing. I can open applications and my browsers and everything works just fine when I use Safe Mode With Networking. If I'm not in safe mode and I immediately try to open Chrome when my computer starts up, it will open but then not open any tabs, and then if I close it and try to reopen it, it won't open. The start menu and Cortana also don't work unless I'm in Safe Mode.
Sorry for wall of text and I hope I was specific enough. Thank you!

They are able to log onto msn messenger, yet games that require internet activity they cannot.

They are able to ping websites perfectly fine.

I did find this in the host file

which i erased and changed back to
127.0.0.1 localhost

Any suggestions?

Answer:Internet Browsers, wont load...

Hi, the first thing i could think of is bad browser configuration or Malware.
Make sure that pc has antivirus and antispyware check if you can update and perform a full scan.

Then switch on pc, keep pressing f8, choose safe mode, log in as administrator
now Can you access the internet
Also in safe
click start then run type
inetcpl.cpl, click connection, then lan settings, make sure automatically detect settings i set, and make sure proxy server is not enabled.

Also find the firewall, in control panel, and temporary disable it.

welcome to the forum

first of all you shouldnt have more then one antivirus:

Here is a quote from an article:

Quote:

Now, one piece of advice that applies equally to AVs and firewalls. You only need one of each! Having more than one firewall and AV can cause possible conflicts and system instability. Although you may think you have more protection by having more than one of each, it could cause you problems you were not expecting.

Click Here for the original article.

So please if you have more than one Antivirus or Firewall choose the one you want to keep and use and uninstall the rest.

I know it's not my ISP, modem, router, NIC, or malware that is causing the problem. Basically I had a malware infection on my Windows 7 laptop which I removed with malware bytes. After that though my internet browsers wont load anything but my steam friends list still loads and I can still play games online. So I did a full scan with MSE and found some virus called "browsermodifier" so I deleted that but still no internet. I've tried opening up the cmd and running the commands to reset my IP and flush dns etc none of that worked. I can't get a ping on Google but I can get one on my home IP so the internet driver is working. I've tried running FSS but my internet services are all fine. I've tried going into internet options LAN settings and making sure the proxy setting isn't ticked. No matter how much I Google this on my phone none of the solutions work!!
Please can anyone help me?

Firefox sits at "connecting" and eventually times out. Chrome and IE work fine.

Steps I've taken:

- Disabled Windows Firewall
- Made sure Firefox was fully excepted from my Avast firewall
- Uninstalled/Reinstalled
- Restarted PC
- Made sure Firefox was set to direct connect in the options

No dice.
