Question: Some Websites don't load anymore!??

I'm using Windows Vista and using FireFox but it doesn't seem to be the problem with internet browsers because they also don't work on IE

Preferred Solution: Some Websites don't load anymore!??

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I'm having the same problem as the member who posted about connection problems with craigslist. I have websites that I used to visit occasionally, but now when I try to access them they don't load at all. Other sites are fine. I tried different computers at home, all the same problem. I have a wired internet network at home with Verizon as my provider. I took one laptop to a wi-fi location elsewhere, and all the sites I mentioned loaded immediately.

I turned my modem off and on, and the sites then loaded normally. But last evening they all went out again and now when I reboot my modem they don't come up. I can't imagine what the problem could be. I will try the pinging method when I get home, but if that doesn't help me solve the problem I don't know what to do. Any advice on this issue?

My computer had started running sluggishly so I ran my SpyBot & AdAware. After which I turned my firewall on (Windows XP supplied). After which Match. com (don't laugh) would not load. I went back and added amtch.com as a trusted website and also turned off my firewall to see if that was the problem. The webpage still will nto load. I have tried typing in the address as well as clicking on a link adn enither will get me to theri website. I haven't noticed any other websites with this problem but I am able to get onto Match.com from other computers.Any suggestions for this computer novice???

Answer:Certain websites on my computer will not load anymore

OK, I guess I solved the problem myself. I re-ran AdAware and saw how many cookies were listed as high risk items. I went back into IE and deleted all my cookies under the tools, options. I also depeted all files under here. Then tried pulling up the website and it came up no problem. Can anyone at least let me know why they think this happened?

Okay, well I recently discovered I could not load any website from both Firefox and IE except for sites like .edu I believe and protected sites. For some odd reason, these websites will not load yet it still says it is connected. Also, I believe there is no problem with my Internet provider because I am currently typig this from my iPod Touch which is connected to the wireless router. I need help soon. Please and thank you.

Our users have IE 7 and 8. We keep them locked into place by pointing IE to our firewall product (tools > internet options > connections > lan settings), so that only approved sites are the ones that our people can access. In the last few days, several of them report issues with specific websites loading very slowly - load times of over an hour just to get the log-in screen to appear.Troubleshooting Steps:1.) Unchecked the "use proxy server for your LAN" under the IE menus---> Site resolves instantly, as it should---> This pointed me to the direction that perhaps the site wasn't configured for our firewall2.) Re-checked the "use proxy server" box, and specifically configured the site in our firewall---> Site continues to resolve slowly, with the same load times as before performing step 1That would normally indicate that the problem is on the vendor's end. Something may be wrong with their site. And that's the line of thought I was pursuing until I was reported back to that the users are having the same problem on other websites. These new websites they're having problems with are, and have been for a long time, configured properly in the firewall.I'm not sure what my next step is to pursue. What am I looking for now? I don't know enough about networking to figure out where to track next.

Answer:Users are unable to load websites - no error, just 1-hour+ load times for pages

Bump.

I've tried scanning my friends computer with CCleaner and Spybot as well as anti-virus and nothing was solved. The computer prompts "Application Failed to Load" errors upon log in. Then a program called PhotoGallery tries to install automatically but fails repeatedly. There is no internet connection either. The wireless signal shows it is connected but it can not load any websites. Here is the HiJackThis log please be aware that I probably will not be able to get to the computer until at least Friday at the latest. I use firefox as my browser. Lately some websites either won't load or take in upwards of 20 minutes. My virus scanner keeps catching virus's. I have run my virus scanner(CA VIRUS SCANNER), ad-aware, spybot, spysubtract, and superantispyware, they all cuaght something the first run through but now come up clean. i then browsed the forums here and found a similar post. I tried some of the suggestions there, which were to repair my network connection in the control panel, and to set firefox's network connection to autodetect, these seem to have helped but some sites are still slow particularly pogo games(my wife)pogo.com loads up fine it's the popup game windows that have the problem. thanks for any help.

This problem just started happening. It only occurs on this network I have in my home. I have used multiple computers at a different house and the internet is perfect. So I am assuming I have some sort of virus on my network. I need help

Answer:Certain websites wont load, or they take very long to load.

It appears that you have already posted a hijackthis log here. Please be patient while waiting for assistance. HJT Helpers are all volunteers regardless where you post a log. While waiting for a response, you should not ask for help elsewhere or make changes to your computer (install/uninstall programs, use special fix tools, delete files, edit the registry, etc.) Any modifications you make on your own can result in system changes which may not show it the log you already posted. Further, following advice outside of that post may cause confusion for the HJT Helper assisting you and could complicate the malware removal process which would extend the time it takes to clean your computer. If you had posted your log here, similar rules would apply. We would ask that you be patient while awaiting a reply and refrain from asking for help elsewhere. If you followed any other advice already, please ensure you inform the HJT Team Helper when they respond to assist you with your log. This will help them know what has been done and they probably will ask for an updated log.To avoid confusion, I am closing this topic. If you still need assistance after your log has been reviewed and you have been cleared, please start a new topic. If you have any questions, please PM me or another moderator. Thanks for your cooperation.

Well to get to the point, www.nfl.com and www.google.com isn't working for me anymore. These are very known websites so i know the website isnt the problem, it's me. This has happened before and that was to yahoo.com but after like a month yahoo.com started working for me again. i have checked for viruses and can't find any. If you want a report i will gladly make you one to show you. Also to help you figure out whats my problem i Downloaded TweakNow Regcleaner STD and Tuneup XP to increase my computers speed performance (before the problems started) but I don't know if those programs caused the problem. To clarify, when i type "www.nfl.com" after like 2 minutes trying to load the page, it will say AOL had could not find it or it will just say at the page im on. ANyone got any ideas to help fix this (im not going to buy programs to fix this problem so dont tell me i have to buy something)

Answer:Websites that i frequently go to aren't working anymore, Why and how can i fix it?

what happens when you unplug your computer, and plug someone else's into the modem, router and try to goto those sites. and what happen when you take your computer else where and try to then goto those site from a different network?

I can access my mail so I'm sure its not a user / pass issue but I haven't been able to login my ym for 3 days already. The problem isn't only with my desktop, but on my iPod as well. As it turns out, other people in the house couldn't access it on their gadgets either.

Then I tried to look up ways to fix it but apparently, I can't access any of yahoo's sites related to the messenger (ex: messenger.yahoo.com).

To make things worse, just today, I couldn't access hostmonster.com and all sites that uses its domain.. including my websites, forums, pages, etc.

I used to access all of these regularly and now I can't. I would really appreciate help because it's affecting my work.

Here are some things I already tried:
Uninstall / reinstall ym
Clear cache and cookies on ALL BROWSERS
Fix LAN settings (i unchecked everything, tried different combos even)
Flush DNS
Clean Registry
Reset router
Tweak MTU
Directly connected to modem

I'm really not good with technical terms btw, so explanations to instructed suggestions would be helpful.

Thank you very much.

Answer:Can't login ym anymore and some websites I access regularly.

Welcome to Windows Seven Forums.

If more than one computer or gadget is affected the problem is more than likely with Yahoo itself.

Have you phoned them to see if their service is down in your area?

Hello! Earlier today I clicked on a bad (or infected) link, so I closed it right after Firefox told me about it. Several minutes later, the Antivirus XP 2008 popup appears and my wallpaper was automatically changed. I followed the instructions on removing it with Malwarebyte's Anti-Malware, although it seemed like some files were screwed up in the process. When I ran other scans with Ad-Aware and SuperAnti-Spyware, a warning message would popup from my Windows toolbar saying that some files of those programs were corrupt. Recently when viewing our family website the animated .gifs I have put on the site don't move/animated anymore.

What could be the cause of this - first it started in Netscape 6.0 then now in IE 6.0 they will not do any animation anymore.

One thing I just noticed when I try to right click and save the .gif image - xp is trying to save it as a .bmp and will not let me save it as a .gif.

Is there any setting in XP for disable/able this?

Any help of what could be causing this would be great

Thanks

Some websites, for example:
http://www.colonialfirstate.com.au/ and
http://postbillpay.com.au

do not load in my newly installed IE7.

The error message says:

This program cannot display the webpage

Most likely causes:
You are not connected to the Internet.
The website is encountering problems.
There might be a typing error in the address.

What you can try:
Check your Internet connection. Try visiting another website to make sure you are connected.
Retype the address.
Go back to the previous page.
More information

But the same websites load OK in Firefox.

I have fiddled around with the security settings etc., but still no joy.

I did not have such a problem with IE6.

I also use Maxthon Browser from time to time. But since that is based on IE engine, even that will not show some websites.

Can somebody suggest a solution?

The only Firewall that I use is WinPatrol. I clean up Malware once in a while with AdAware SE.

Answer:Websites Will Not Load in IE, But Will Load in Firefox

Hello, This is not an answer to your question, I just wanted to say that 'WinPatrol' is not a firewall.

I have: Chrome, Firefox, and internet explorer. The Main browser I use is Chrome, not recently but a little while ago, two sites that I would go to ALL of the time suddenly stopped working for me, so I asked a question on yahoo answers before, asking if the websites sites were working for anyone else, they all said the sites were working perfectly for them! Hey, I went to turn on my laptop this morning, and got this error message. It just stays at 17% forever, and doesn't load up. I left it for about 5 hours, came back and it was still stuck there. I've tried booting it up from safe mode, restoring from a different point, but it still won't boot up. Help please!

Answer:XP won't load up anymore.

Hello priest_jimbo, to TSF!

You have the answer to your problem shown in the screenshot...."The Volume is Dirty."
This means that the HDD is bad; it might be recoverable, but it will mean completely wiping the Drive with a Wiping utility such as DBAN, and re-installing the O/S from scratch.
This in itself presents other issues:
You will need your original Windows? Installation Disc and Product Key;considering the fact that you are still using Windows? XP and Microsoft? no longer support XP; it might be time for you to seriously consider upgrading the unit completely.
It's probably more than 4 years old and ready for the scrap heap.
Even if you were successful re-installing XP you would not be able to update any of the security and system updates because of the cessation of support.
If the HDD is too far gone and re-installation of the O/S is unsuccessful; then, its time for a new replacement Drive.
Taking into account the cost of a new HDD for your laptop, and a new Windows? O/S; such as, Windows 7? or Windows 8.1?, it would more than likely work out to be cheaper to buy a brand new laptop, that would already have an O/S pre-installed.
Prices of laptops today are very good, because manufacturers and retailers are all competing for business; hence, prices are very good.
Now is the time to consider your options.
Post back with your thoughts and any queries you may have.

Kind Regards,

Suddenly my c.d.'s do not load anymore. Not in Windows Media, nor in my PCDJ, etc. When I restart the individual programs the c.d. loads, but only once. (after which I have to restart again if I want to hear a new c.d.

Only my Real Player works partly. It also does not automatically reload new c.d.'s but if I manually delete the playlist and then press Play again it works. But this is not normal I reckon...

Can somebody tell me what the matter can be? (It's not as simple as to click automatic playing via computer - c.d. ROM device etc.)

Hi paulvangelder

. . . and Welcome to the Tech Support Forums.

Several things to check:
(You've already taken a good first step: you already checked on the "Autorun" setting for your drive)
1) If you can, borrow another CD (or DVD) drive (an external is a quick troubleshooter for this sort of thing). If everything suddenly works just fine with a different drive, it's possible that the drive had become faulty. (Could be something as simple as the lens needing cleaning, or the unit could be failing).
2) If the problem just recently started (and trying a different CD-drive doesn't help), try a System Restore, using a restore point from when the CDs were playing OK.
3) If neither of these work - make sure it's not malware corrupting system files (scan in both Safe Mode and Normal, and use as thorough settings as possible. If you find an infection, try the 5-Step Security Checklist here at TSF http://www.techsupportforum.com/showthread.php?t=15968)
4) If the system scans clean, try uninstalling Windows Media Player.
5) Run a Registry Cleaner (I recommend CCleaner http://www.download.com/CCleaner/300...ml?tag=lst-0-1)
6) Disable any "Download Manager" software you might have, and download a fresh copy of Windows Media Player (you can do this in Windows Update -- which is a good idea anyway, since you should also check for Security Updates while you're there).
7) Install Windows Media Player & test to see if it plays CDs OK now. Then ... Read more

Hi. My Sony Vaio laptop won't load up anymore. When moved I sometimes got the blue screen of death, it restarted and it was fine. But yesterday I moved it slightly and it got the blue screen of death again. It came up with the screen asking if I wanted to load Windows normally or in safe mode. No matter which I click it starts to load then gets the blue screen of death and restarts again, then showing the safe mode option screen again.

I have no clue what the blue screen of death screen says as it doesn't stay up for more than a second.

I have no back up disks. It doesn't seem to want to show the BIOS. It is running Windows XP.

What is most likely to have caused the problem and what can I do to fix it? I'd rather not wipe the hard drive and start again unless I really really have to.

Any help would be great. Thanks.

Hello all. not sure I'm in the right forum but whatever.

I'm running a dual boot system with Slackware Linux and Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit. Using the LILO boot manager to switch between things. Everything was working fine, just did a fresh install of both OS's. I was fiddling around under windows 7 in disk manager because I essentially needed to created a new partition because I had split my 500 gig hdd into the following: 100 gig, for Windows, 100 gigs for Slackware and the rest for NTFS data. I had not set up that final partition which was what i was doing under disk management. So i set it up as NTFS and say ok then all my partitions switched from blue to orange and it assigned some drive letters to my linux paritions (OS and the Swap) which it had not done previously... as expected. Now being the old tech that I am, i didn't take the time to read any messages that popped up as well... windows does that a lot so so i don't remember if anything popped up before or after this happened.

Now the big problem, i reboot my system, Linux works fine and I can access the windows partition no problem and even modify things in it. Then i load windows again and it just hangs at the "Windows Loading" screen (all black with white text). It's not frozen as the little cursor is blinking. But it just hangs there.

If anyone has any idea what happened and if there's a fix it would be a great help, I really don't feel like re-installing.

Also, if anyone can tell me what process t... Read more

Answer:Windows 7 won't load anymore

I am not familar with old technology like Linux, but Windows 7 will configure the boot menu correctly when installed last and if drives other than OS's are unplugged in case one is wrongly marked active.

When Win7 has its boot sidetracked, it is normally recoverable by booting into the Win7 installer Repair console and running Startup Repair repeatedly, in case there are multiple issues. All former command fixes are automated there.

Hi, I'm new to the forum and I'd like to first say I really appreciate this opportunity to get some help. My Gateway has been infected with something for months now it seems. (I'm far from a computer expert, but I did try a lot of various anti virus programs) Google also has been hijacked. A lot of times the computer would fail to even get to the sign on screen, so I've done the "restoring to an earlier point" option several times . The problem seems to have gotten worse over time, and about two weeks ago, no programs would load. No AOL, no Firefox, Media Player , and a lot of other random links that wouldn't activate such as certain things in the Control Panel. The little arrow in the task manager that points up was still there, but none of the things that are usually there were there anymore (except the volume and windows update, which I also couldn't load) I did system restore again a few times, which worked, but a few days ago it crashed while trying to restore and now the only dates available are recent ones that still have the same problem.
I've looked around the internet on another computer and tried a couple random things, such as disabling a lot, if not all of the startup programs from running, but still nothing. Even in Safe Mode, nothing really loads. Pictures will load but not music or videos. It doesn't seem like I can do much anything on my PC now. Did one of my virus scanners accidentally delete something important? I... Read more

If yes, then the AC adaptor is OK and I would say that your battery is faulty.
In such case you will need to replace the battery.

I use Photoshop Elements regularly. It recently stopped launching. It starts to load, but when it gets to loading TWAIN menu items, it unexpectedly quits.

This problem started soon after I got a new printer, an Epson Stylus CX4800. But it didn't start immediately. I did use Elements and print from it, but the problem started a day or two later. The two may have nothing to do with each other.

I've tried uninstalling the Epson software. Didn't help. I've also tried upgrading from Elements 3 to Elements 4 but that won't launch either.

Any ideas?

Hi all, I've got a new and weird issue. I'm on Vista x64 with all of the updates as well as the latest versions of IE and Firefox. I work on TrailDamage.com and haven't made any changes to the banner in many, many years but all of a sudden the single image that holds the logo and the words "TrailDamage.com" is not showing up. My first thought was that I'd been hacked, but it doesn't appear that way. Next, I found the image on my computer (it looks fine) and uploaded over the top of the old one. I still can't see it. The behavior is the same in both IE and Firefox.

For example, if I go to any TrailDamage.com page I can't see it. If I go to http://www.traildamage.com/images/_boilerplate/logo_banner.jpg I see nothing, an empty page. I uploaded the same image to http://www.traildamage.com/images/_boilerplate/logo_banner2.jpg and I see that one. The odd thing is that if I go to these pages and links on another computer I can see everything in IE, so I know it's just a problem on my end.

IE and Firefox both have the same symptoms, so it seems like it's some Vista setting they share between them or I have a virus or some other bug (I have no idea what that could be). I looked at the site yesterday and there were no problems so this just happened today.

I deleted all of my temporary Internet files and reloaded the page. It grabbed all of the images again except for that one. Does anyone have any idea how this is happening? I'm really at a loss. Thanks!

Edit: I also ... Read more

So before i'd just watch windows start.....the screen with the fogged out blue windows background and my Circular icon show for a few seconds, then I'm automatically in.

Now 3 months after upgraded to 10, instead of that smooth logon, it takes me to a damn Environmental background (beaches, forests and such, it keeps changing) then I have to click it.....then it bring me to Sign-in.....then i have to click that. It's like a whole damn process when all I want it to do is startup and load to desktop without having to click through menus. Does anyone know how to disable this and I already did the netplwiz thing and unchecked Users must enter name and password.

I'm not sure what changed-maybe an update. But the other day I noticed my calculator app would not open and now my photos app won't. I managed to uninstall the photos app but when i tried to reinstall it from the windows store, it won't work. I clicked on install and it just flashes and does nothing. I'm signed into the store. I can live without the calculator (but I'd rather have it) but I really don't want to open pictures in a separate program just for quick viewing. Please help. thanks.

my system (as much as I can figure out-my son built it for me).
Windows 10 home edition
Intel i5 processor
MSI motherboard
8 gb ram

Answer:Suddenly some apps won't load anymore

Open administrative command prompt and type or copy and paste:
1) winver (in the pop up about windows > view your windows version and build > type this information into the thread)
2) sfc /scannow
3) dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth
4) chkdsk /scan

5) net user test /add

When these have completed > right click on the top bar or title bar of the administrative command prompt box > left click on edit then select all > right click on the top bar again > left click on copy > paste into the thread

6) shutdown /r

When the computer reboots sign on with the new user named test.

Please report in the thread the performance after running scannow, restorehealth, scan, and using the new user named test.

Please clarify if you are having any problems with the Microsoft store.

Hi all! I had my laptop running last night and I woke up this morning and my computer was frozen. It wasn't the "blue screen of death" as many mention as it was simply frozen but when I turned it back on (and continue to turn it back on) it gets stuck on "Starting Windows" without even proceeding to the Windows log-in screen. Next, when I launch a "system repair" it goes through the process but freezes in the blue "system repair" screen without even showing anything..just the blue background sunshine screen and is just stuck there...under "Advanced Boot Options" the "Last Known Good Configuration" gives me no luck either...I then try "Safe Mode" and under "Safe Mode with Command Prompt" it freezes while "Loading Windows Files" and the last file/driver it shows is \windows\system32\DRIVERS\AtiPcie.sys

I don't know what else to do...I have a Windows 7 64-bit boot disc but this is my small laptop which doesn't have a CD/DVD drive. I can use my USB drive if necessary but I attempted to do that but maybe there is some special way I must install it on my USB drive?? Otherwise I am completely stuck and I am hoping someone can help me out...this is driving me crazy! Thanks again in advance..

Answer:Why does my Google Chrome refuse to load anymore?

There is a recent issue with a Google Chrome update and cyberlinks youcam. Go to the control panel, under programs and uninstall Youcam, Chrome will then work.To err is human but to really screw things up, you need a computer!

Hi everyone,

This is my first post here and I'm glad to have found this forum with so many helpful people. I am typing this from my iPhone since I'm having troubles with my laptop, so sorry in advance for bad typing.

So recently my gpu failed (8800 GTX M) and I ordered a replacement. After I replaced the faulty card the laptop was running beautifully for 2 days. Today while playing call of duty the game crashed with A directx error. Thinking it was just a random thing I restarted the laptop And it wouldn't boot up anymore. Not even the Dell splash screen appears anymore.

Shocked I disassmbled the whole laptop and put it back together. After this the Dell splash screen appeared again, only once though. Now I'm back at a black screen with nothing loading at all. I am super frustrated right now, and have no idea what itmight be.
Hope someone can help,
max

Answer:Laptop doesn't even load bios anymore

Does the laptop have integrated graphics?

If so remove the graphics card and see if you get the splash screen.

Odds are it has something to do with the new card.

For a long time I've tolerated this problem. Basically, an assortment of websites have trouble loading. Some times they will take a couple refreshes to load, sometimes they will load in HTML after a long time, and some don't load at all. Sometimes a website will work fine, but then not load the next day. It's starting to really piss me off, especially since it affects such websites as:
- SoundCloud
- Twitch.tv
- Justin.tv
- The Escapist
- Facebook (occasionally)
- Many more!
As far as I can tell, this all started a few months ago. My internet spontaneously stopped working. I called my ISP (TelstraClear NZ), and the operator did some troubleshooting. Eventually the problem just seemed to fix itself after I unplugged and replugged my modem; I guess it reset my connection. But ever since then, I've had this problem.
I have a SURFBoard modem and a Netgear wireless router.
The things I've done to try fix are:
- Changing my DNS servers - many times
- Using a different OS/computer
- Using a different browser
- Pinging the servers of stuck websites. Often I can't reach them with a ping
- Turning off/unplugging my modem and router
- Plugging my modem directly into the computer
I'm at my wit's end as to what the problem is. Everything i can see suggests that this is a DNS problem - the seemingly arbitrary times websites won't work, my inability to ping them, the random assortment of affected websites. The only other thing that would make sense ... Read more

Answer:Certain websites don't load

Diagnose the problem with the ISP modem only being used. It might be a hardware or connection problem from your provider. Try ipconfig/flushdns on command prompt.

I am using Windows 8 64-bit and I am having an issue loading certain websites. Twitter and Facebook are the main two. I have tried Chrome, Firefox, IE, Chrome portable, Firefox portable and qupzilla portable. I tried using https as well. http://en-gb.facebook.com loads but once I enter my login details it just comes up with "problem loading page" again. I have run Malwarebytes and SUPERantispyware I have cleared cache's etc and nothing seems to be helping. Any help would be greatly appreciated as I'm almost at my wits end with it.
I should add I've reset my router, restored factory settings but they seem to work on other devices (android phone, old laptop etc).

Welcome to Major Geeks!

Please read ALL of this message including the notes before doing anything.

Pleases follow the instructions in the below link:

READ & RUN ME FIRST. Malware Removal Guide

and attach the requested logs when you finish these instructions.

**** If something does not run, write down the info to explain to us later but keep on going. ****
Do not assume that because one step does not work that they all will not. MGtools will frequently run even when all other tools will not.

After completing the READ & RUN ME and attaching your logs, make sure that you tell us what problems still remain ( if any still do )!
Helpful Notes:

If you run into problems trying to run the READ & RUN ME or any of the scans in normal boot mode, you can run the steps in safe boot mode but make sure you tell us what you did later when you post logs. See the below if you do not know how to boot in safe mode:

Starting your computer in Safe mode

If you have problems downloading on the problem PC, download the tools and the manual updates for SUPERAntiSpyware and Malwarebytes ( links are given in the READ & RUN ME) onto another PC and then burn to a CD. Then copy them to the problem PC. You will have to skip getting updates if (and only if) your internet connection does not work. Yesterday I ran a virus scan and deleted several viruses. After I did that, i noticed that my internet was running slower than normal. I figured i would wait until today to see if it would work better...it didn't. In fact, it got worse. Now websites like facebook and ebay take forever to load, and when they finally load, they load incorrectly. Today I ran more virus scans but they found nothing. I tried a system restore but that didn't work either. I also tried other browsers, but they all had the same problem.

I also tried booting up in safe mode and everything worked when i did that. I've seen other people with this same problem but all of the solutions that they were given didn't work.

Can anyone help me with this problem?

Hi, I'm hoping someone here can help me.

I've found that since about a week ago, certain websites refuse to load on my laptop, the only sites that will load are this one, Facebook, Youtube, Google and other Google sites, Reddit, and some others. I've tried flushing the DNS, changing the TCP4 server and several other things, yet on any internet network or any browser other sites refuse to load!

If any of you know how this can be fixed then please let me know. Thanks a lot in advance

This has been happening recently... most of the websites I try to go to won't load at all, or simply state at the bottom of Firefox that it's transferring data or whatever.

Some of the websites that will never load are... yahoo answers, last.fm, facebook... Others will give me a 404 error message until I refresh the internet page a dozen times.

It definitely is not a problem with my ISP.. ever since I've bought my Toshiba (with Windows Vista Home Basic, eek), I've been having problems.

I don't know what to do. suggestions? :B

Hi,

I have a PC on windows XP Professional and I have been having trouble downloading some websites on both firefox and IE. Others work fine, but facebook and amazon and yahoo answers won't load. There might be other websites that I can't load either, but these are the ones that I know about. Basically, I can go onto the facebook login page by googling facebook. I can type in my e-mail adress and password and try to log in, but it gets stuck. The status bar says: Waiting for static.ak.facebook.com

With amazon, it gets stuck on "Wiating for g1-ec2.images-amazon.com".

I think I've done some basic things like clearing cache, etc. I have also uninstalled both firefox and IE and re-installed them, but to no avail.

I read your post about running HijackThis and have done that and I have attached my log. I hope I did it all correctly!

Any help would be really appreciated!

Answer:Some websites won't load - HJK log

Welcome to Major Geeks!

Problems like you are mentioning are frequently not related to malware. It is to random to be malware. However by just looking at a HijackThis log we cannot tell whether you are free from malware or not since HijackThis logs by themselves do not provide an adequate picture of your PC's malware status. If you want to check your PC for malware you need to run the steps further down after the ===== bar.

You may want to try a couple other simple things first like these:

power cycle your DSL or cable mode
power cycle your router
I have even seen cases where firmware updates to a router were necessary to fix problems like this but this is less likely
Also try this, Go to Start > Run and type in cmd

Click OK.
This will open a command prompt.
Type or copy and paste the following line in the command window:
ipconfig /flushdns
Hit Enter
Exit the command window
Also download HostsXpert and then follow the below steps.

Unzip HostsXpert.zip
[*]It will create a folder named HostsXpert in whatever folder you extract it to.
[*]Run HostsXpert.exe, click Restore Microsoft's Hosts File and then click OK.
[*]Click the X to exit the program

FULL MALWARE CLEANING PROCEDURE

Please follow our standard cleaning procedures which are necessary for us to provide you support. Also there are steps included for installing, renaming, running, and posting HijackThis logs as attachments.

Hi everyone,

I've the issue stated in the title. Some websites load and others time out. I've been googling for two days trying all sorts of solutions but none of it helped. Before I just wipe and reinstall Windows I want to try this as a last resort, partly because I'm not even convinced it's actually in the computer itself. Here's what I know so far:

- The problem started at an indefinate time: it's the computer of my parents and they can't tell me more than "it suddenly stopped!"
- The pages that aren't loading don't share any commons grounds: they're news pages, forums, secured websites, a bit of everything.
- Some pages load slowly instead of not at all.
- The computer runs on Windows 7 Home edition and is up to date.
- The computer is wired to a switch which leads into a router, which connects to the modem.
- The problem occurs with Internet Explorer, Google Chrome and Firefox.
- The problem is not affecting any other computers on the same network.
- I can ping some of the "unreachable" websites just fine. Typing in their IP address does not load the page.

I've tried the following things that didn't work:

- Deleting temporary internet files and resetting safety settings to normal.
- Disabling the firewall
- Clearing the DNS cache
- Giving the computer a static IP address
- Changing the DNS server manually (to that of google: 8.8.8.8)
- Uninstalling and reinstalling browsers and related applications like Flash and Java.
- Disabling all startup... Read more

Answer:Some websites don't load

Do the pages that dont load on that computer, load on other devices? It could be server error, or it could be your ISP, somehow throttling your connection to certain sites. You have quite the comprehensive list of things you have already tried.
Im not exactly sure what to suggest for you to do. Good luck.

This problem started suddenly a day or two ago after about a month of using a new Win 8.1 computer.
Most websites won't load: spin for awhile and then give "The connection has timed out" message. Some websites load quickly and easily, though: search engines (Google, ixquick, Yahoo, Wikipedia), my Verizon Yahoo webmail.

Oddly, GoogleMaps won't load from a search engine or from the address bar, but if I go to Google.com and use the Google Apps icon to go to maps, it loads instantly.

Relevant facts:

Win 8.1 on an Asus desktop PC. Automatic update is on.

Using Firefox 40.0.3, fully updated (but Internet Explorer has the same problem behavior)
Home wireless network (my Android tablet does NOT show the same behavior; can connect fine through same wireless connection) No other devices are using the network.

Computer came with free trial of McAfee security. Using that, including McAfee Personal Firewall. No other virus/firewall/security/spam blocker software is active.
I did a search on this problem and all the results I get date back to 2012-13. Then, no one had any solutions. I'm hoping that since then, this problem has been identified and solved!

Any suggestions appreciated. It's driving me nuts!

Hello. I'm having this problem: some websites won't load under certain conditions, no matter what browser I use (chrome, firefox and IE8). When I try to right click a link and press 'open in a new tab' it will most porbably not work. It gives me this error:

Serverul nu a fost găsit (The Server could not be found)

Firefox nu găsește serverul www.wowcooc.com. (FF can't find the server <server>)

Also most of the websites are loading really SLOW!

Yea anyways I don't know anything about javascripts or hosts files, just please tell me how a hosts file should look and what do you think the problem is. Thank you in advance.

So out of nowhere I have stumbled across this problem...not being able to access a few random websites. I have used Google Chrome, Firefox, and IE...they all do the same thing. I have scanned for viruses, flushed dns, deleted temp files, tried the WinSock fix and nothing has helped in the least. I have also tried power cycling my modem and router. Even on my Zune HD the web browser cannot load these websites which leads me to believe it has to do with my network and not my computer. The websites that do work work just fine with no hiccups. Then I try to go to a website (http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/ for example) and it will just sit there and load. If I am lucky it might load a broken webpage with some text, but this happens rarely. There is no error message it just loads with no progress and says "Waiting for forums.steampower.com...". This problem just started last night and I had never seen anything like this before.

Is there any guidance someone could provide?
UPDATE:

OK so I come back to my computer tonight and it's like this never happened. Everything seemed to sort itself out! Lucky me....lock if needed.

I have not been able to open many forums and websites that have .php at the end of the link/address. I tried both FireFox and IE on Vista Home x64. I don't think it is an issue with the sites I'm visiting because it is happening to many sites I've tried to load. The weird thing is that sometimes the pages will not load, and the next day it will, then i won't again. I have done several virus and spyware scans and came up with no threats. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Have you tried with the 32 bit IE, the 64 bit IE does have problems with some sites as it is more geared towards security.

I started having a problem yesterday on all of my computers (desktop and two laptops). Some websites, such as Google, Yahoo, and Facebook, will load but almost everything else will not load. I'll get the "Problem loading page" message in any browser (Firefox, IE, Chrome). Luckily, I am able to access a few computer help forums like this one and found people with similar problems. As had been recommended in those threads I tried downloading various programs for removing adware/spyware/viruses and cleaning the registry. I tried Adwcleaner, MalwareBytes, SuperAntiSpyware, CCleaner, and my AVG antivirus. A few threats showed up on each, but none of them appeared to be serious threats, and removing them did nothing to solve the problem. If this is relevant, all of my computers run some form of windows (Vista, 7, and 8). I just had my modem replaced a few months ago, and I don't know how that would stop only certain websites from functioning. Any help would be greatly appreciated. This would confirm that it's with your ISP server connections problems on sites being block or loaded. Have you called them on the issue? See also the link below on how to ping websites not loading.

Yesterday, the computer froze up while an employee was searching the web. She said it wouldn't do anything (ctrl-alt-del, start button, shutdown, nothing...). She unplugged the PC to get it to turn off and when she powered it back on the computer would boot but it slowed everything to a crawl. When I got to work I noticed 2 little harddrive icons in the lower right and if you hovered over them it said "The data in volume is being verified & repaired." We have a raid 1 configuration on this system so I thought maybe one of the drives had failed. I let it run for about 4 hours and it never finished, so I hard reset it by holding in the power button and booted it into safe mode. The Intel Storage Matrix finished verifying the harddrives (it only took about an hour an half in safe mode) and it said everything was fine. The computer also ran like normal in safe mode, but when I booted it back up in normal mode after about 10 seconds everything slowed to a crawl and then froze even though it wasn't verifying the harddrives anymore. So I followed the steps in "READ & RUN ME FIRST". That seems to have fixed the slowness but now some websites won't load at all or very slowly, others run just fine. If I try to go to www.google.com the browser doesn't do anything at all. If I try to load www.majorgeeks.com it loads but it takes a few minutes to load the page. If I type in the IP address for google it seems to load just fine tho... Read more

Hello

I am using IE 8 on Windows XP pro. Recently I have discovered that some websites suddenly won't load. These are websites I've regularly visited in the past, and I know that other people are able to still load them on other computers. The computer is running McAfee security scan plus, which of course is not finding anything. What next?

Hey all, here's my problem:

Some websites on either browser on my computer (Safari or Firefox) simply don't load, or rarely load. I don't know how to resolve the initial issue, but I've been getting around it by using a proxy site, which solves the problem...partially. My new issue is that javascript doesn't work through proxy sites (even if you say to allow it on both our browser and on the proxy site homepage), renderring certain websites unusable. So, I need a way to make those sites work, either by resolving the original problem, or by fiding a way to get the java to load. Any advice?

Answer:Can't load certain websites

Have you cleared your cache and cookies in both Safari and Firefox?
Try and clear your DNS cache from terminal. If you didnít get an error then the command worked.

On my laptop (HP/Windows XP), with IE 7 (& now 8), certain websites do not load - likeyahoo mail (login page OK - but no inbox post login)hotmail.com (no inbox)www.getfirefox.com does not show download pageany visual verification (like the registration for this site) etc. Earlier I though it was related to some IE configuration problem (that is why I upgraded to ie8) but now am not sure as the Symentic virus scan (enterprise - running on personal PC) does not show any virus but when I tried to use online scan via www.activescan.com, it cannot download the activescan software (just shows 0%). Just earlier today, for some reason, I am unable to get onto some sites because they just won't load at all, the main ones being Wikipedia, other wiki and wikia based sites and just some random sites when searching for stuff on google. They take forever to load and then come up with the message 'oops! Google chrome could not open the site'. Other than that, most sites are working perfectly fine and are running at a normal speed, but some are a bit slow with loading, like IGN, Gamespot and the American site for yahoo answers.

I've tried two different internet browsers (google chrome and internet explorer), but that doesn't work. It DEFINITELY has nothing to do with my computer because I've tried both my computers and they both have the same issue (even my PS3 couldn't load wikipedia). I tried connecting my DS to my internet earlier as well and couldn't connect (kept getting the 62010 error code) the first two times (never happened before).

So I think it must be something to do with my internet connection. I've checked my internet speed and that hasn't changed, it's just some sites refuse to load or take forever to load, very annoying. And I tried loading wikipedia and other sites that wouldn't load on my computer(s) on my phone and they all loaded fine, and since my phone is using the mobile internet, there must be something wrong with my router/internet connection.

The only thing I can think of is that my br... Read more

On my computer, I have had countless operating systems installed reinstalled and removed. Most of the time I go for a complete wipe. But I decided to swap around my computers because my main PC broke down so my test pc is now my normal one. I am running XP professional, have run windows vista and Linux Ubuntu 9.04 and 9.10.

The problem has occured after a few months of having Windows Vista, and now after 42 days of running XP professional. However the problem does not occur on Ubuntu. I have checked for viruses/spyware/malware etc and apart from double click nothing.

The problem is that Google Images does not show any thumbnails. When I click on the thumnnail it RESETS my internet connection. However I can copy and paste the link into the address bar hit return and it work fine. www.pcspecialist.co.uk will load no images and when I click a link the browser will take about a minute to do something then displays an error about my connection, however the connection has not dropped. From this point forward I have no internet access. I unplug and replug in my wireless g dongle, no effect, Turn off and turn on the g type router of the same make, no effect. I delete my connection and set up the connection again, no effect. I have no internet access until I reboot my pc.

Another website that is displaying symptoms is filefront, the CSS will no longer load and sometimes it causes the same effect as pcspecialist, and forums sometimes have difficulty loading.

Answer:Some websites do not load

You can tackle this problem two ways, first by just clearing the cache, but also by restarting the DNS client service, which handles caching of DNS lookups.

Open up your command prompt by right clicking on it and choose run as administrator :
Now type in the following command: ipconfig /flushdns > click enter
This usually clears up any issues that might be occurring. Note that with Firefox you should probably also close and reopen it, because Firefox has a DNS cache as well.
Open up an administrator mode command prompt again as above,
Now type in the following commands:
net stop dnscache > click enter
net start dnscache > click enter
Now just to make sure your DNS Service has started again open run type in services.msc >click enter
Scroll down to DNS Client and just check that it says " started automatic "

This should help you out !

Not sure what is wrong. I have so many problems with sites not wanting to load at all or sometimes when they load, like Kookeys website is one I'm having alot of problems with, it has like a plain dark blue section in the middle of the screen. The url for the site is www.kookeys.comSometimes I get as far as a page that just keeps saying Loading...This may take a few moments-- but it will be worth the wait!I tried to contact the people at the site and I don't think they even read my email because of the response I got back. I think they just sent out one of those form letters that they send to anyone who writes. I've tried so many things like clearing the cache, cookies, all that stuff.

I've just got the internet and find that both internet explorer and firefox don't show some sites (eg won't show microsoft, some anti-virus software companies etc) yet it shows most others I go to, even obsure ones. I've tried disabling both the windows and the router firewall. I've dropped all the security levels in the Privacy and Security tabs of the Internet Options. I have SSL3 and TLS enabled. I've allowed ActiveXs to run (with prompt). I've checked C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\hosts and find the only line is: 127.0.0.1 localhostI've tried all the above simultansously but the microsoft website will not load. I can't believe it and many others have been offline for many days now. Very little software has been loaded on this laptop and it has no history of surfing and this problem I noticed almost immediately after connecting up to my router for the first time. I downloaded version 8 of IE from microsft (from a different computer a week earlier). I then downloaded the most recent firefox from here upon my struggles with IE. I'm running Windows XP Professional service pack 2. please plase helpregardspaul

For over the past month I have two websites that I know of that will not load. Both of the sites are active and other people on other computers can access them. The sites were working for me previously. I have tried to load them on IE, Firefox & Chrome so I am not sure that it is the these services specifically but some data, download or update to my computer that is blocking the sites. I am usuaully using Windows XP.

I have trouble shooted with the HP folks two different times and nothing we tried worked. I also troubleshooted with other tech forum folks who were friendly and nice but nothing they suggested has worked yet. This seems to be a mystery diagnosis. Anyone with any insight to this type of problem please reply. Diva_Girl

Answer:Certain Websites Do Not Load??

If those websites are working with other browser then something is blocking it from your IE, try checking the add-ons, security software like antivirus program, optimize your browser like delete the cookies, temp files, history and restore to default the security settings and default settings.

So I have a bit of a hobby I guess you could call it. I do little graphics for people online for roleplaying style sites (no nothing adult lol). But the graphics I make do require me to venture out to find websites with a large collection of photos of the person or people the requester is using for their character. Normally this just results in me finding and using fan sites.

Where the problem is happening is that certain sites just won't load (even though they once did months ago). At first I thought it was just my old and dying computer that was like four years old. But I'm now using a brand new custom built (and expensive) system but the problem still remains. I have done a few tests, even grabbed some suggestions from this site in fact. But nothing seems to be working. When I did a troubleshoot on my connection and then insert the sites I was trying to access it came back saying my network was fine but the site was not responding. Is there anything I can do to fix this?

Also, friends of mine have been able to load these sites just fine and just like I stated back a few months ago I too could access them.

Answer:Certain Websites Won't Load

Welcome to Seven Forums KamiCDN. Can you share some sites you are having problems with? What browser are you using, and do you have more than one browser that exhibits this problem? Try accessing one of the sites through a web based proxy, and see if it displays normally that way.

Hello, I seem to be having problems with either my internet connection or software on my computer, hopefully someone out there can help me figure out what the problem is.

I recently just purchased a sager notebook, and by recent I mean I just got this sucker 3 days ago. Since then, I have been unable to access a handful of websites unless I use a proxy to tunnel them. Even then I am unable to download several files from said sites because they simply will not load.

I first noticed this when I tried to access Firefox.com. Having used Mozilla on my previous computer, I decided to switch over to it again on my new one. At least I thought I was going to. The website simply will not load, and continuously times out. When I attempt to diagnose the problem, I receive a message stating "Your computer appears to be correctly configured but the device or resource is not responding."

I immediately assumed it was Internet Explorer, my current browser at the time, was restricting me from accessing the site. I disabled my firewall and played around with my privacy settings, but to no avail it remained unreachable. So, I searched and searched and found a Developer Preview version of Mozilla, and downloaded it hoping the problem would not persist. To my surprise, I was still unable to access the website even with a seperate browser.

So I unistalled the Mozilla crap and returned to using Internet Explorer, albeit begrudgingly, until I could fix the problem.

It wasn't long ... Read more

I was hoping I wouldn't have to post on the forum (I hope I chose the right category to post it in) for advice but after reading endless threads all over the net I am still left with a problem I can't seem to figure out.
Basically, there are 3 websites (that I know of) that won't load on my laptop at home. Google.com, Facebook.com and Amazon.com.
I've tried to disconnect my WiFi and turn my phone into a hotspot but they still won't load. They all work on my phone, both on the WiFi and the mobile network. They also work on other PC's
I use Firefox, but I have tried Internet Explorer, Chrome, Safari and Opera and none of them can open these sites.
A few of the advices I've read and tried are:
Replacing 'http' with 'https'. Did nothing.
Flushing by opening a command box and writing 'flushdns'. I did it correctly and it did not work.
I have my computer set up with a login password (the reason I post this is because I read somewhere that setting a login password might help). This is how desperate I am.
I haven't done a System Restore because the dates offered aren't after this started to happen, which is over a month ago.
I'm from Iceland and for some reason google.is does work.
I have a year old Acer with a Windows 7 64 bit OS.
Is there anybody out there that has the slightest idea of what is causing this?
Many thanks in advance.

Suspect your hosts file is contaminated
get a command prompt

cd \windows\system32\drivers\etc
look for each domain name in the hosts (should not be present)
(If you see something like 127.0.0.1 ***.google.com, then you can't get to google.com). Here's the test sequence:

find /I "amazon" .\hosts
find /I "facebook" .\hosts

Hi,

I bought a Sony Vaio netbook in November 2010 and to start with it allowed me access to hotmail, my work email, and university email accounts. Now however, none of these websites will load for me to access any of my emails. The internet progress bar says 'done' but the pages always remain blank.

I can't load any videos on youtube either.

I've had a look around up here and can't really find anything useful.

Please help as I'm at a loss as to what to do. I'm not that much of an advanced user. I'm really just an average computer user.

I'd be grateful for any advice you can give me.

For about 2 months now, my computer will enter a phase where sometimes it will work and sometimes it refuses to load any website, will then work properly, and will then refuse to load websites again. The problem persists for several days, sometimes beyond a week, then disappears for a while before coming back

I've tried using different browsers, updating my browsers, fixing the browser settings as each one suggests, updating Windows, and restarting the computer. The last time this happened, updating Windows fixed it. Now it's returned.

This is the error message I get when it refuses to load a site on Google Chrome:

This webpage is not available

The connection to ***whatever website URL I'm on*** was interrupted.

Here are some suggestions:
Reload this webpage later.
Check your Internet connection. Restart any router, modem, or other network devices you may be using.
Add Google Chrome as a permitted program in your firewall's or antivirus software's settings. If it is already a permitted program, try deleting it from the list of permitted programs and adding it again.
If you use a proxy server, check your proxy settings or contact your network administrator to make sure the proxy server is working. If you don't believe you should be using a proxy server, adjust your proxy settings: Go to the wrench menu > Options > Under the Hood > Change proxy settings... > LAN Settings and deselect the "Use a proxy server for your LAN"... Hi! My mother's computer recently needed a clean up so I removed adware, ran scans and all that but there was still a problem with her loading our credit union's website: sdccu.com. I checked on my own laptop, and found the same issue for me and every other computer in the house. Assuming it was a problem with Verizon fios, I contacted their fios support line only to be met with a message stating they were being swamped with an unexpected number of support calls. I tried again today and got the same message. Even their chat support is busy. I'm assuming it's a problem with Verizon, since I've used a down or not site, pinged repeatedly, tried different browsers, rebooted my modem, reset the system, followed multiple instructions in the forum, etc. My question is, does anyone know if Verizon is having these issues? I've only found a few forum posts complaining of similar problems and that's it. Normally, it wouldn't be a big deal, but sdccu.com is a website my mom uses to transfer money and pay bills so it's important. My mom can access the site through her iphone when she connects to a different network however, her iphone does not connect at home, as expected. Anyway, thank you for your time.

hi , just updated my shield deluxe anti-virus 2008 to 2010 about a week ago, & ever since some websites will not load up , but had no prob previously

Answer:some websites will not load

I do not know this product, but if they just included a firewall and did not disable the windows firewall, there may be a conflict. After that, go to their website since this is directly related to their product. They probably have a support site with FAQ's, common fixes, an email or chat tech, and possibly a forum dedicated to their product. They know their product best and others likely will have the same problem. You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.

There are two websites in our computer lab that will not load. I have tried several different browsers, turned off firewalls, scanned for viruses and spyware and emptying temp files, etc. I can ping the addresses, but when I do a traceroute they time out from the 5th hop forward. We can visit any other website, it is just these two sites. The server in the lab is running Windows 2003 Standard Edition, and there are three routers. There twenty computers in the lab all using Windows XP. We could use some help, since the one website is ours (www.campbellfordcrc.ca) and the other is a website that the public uses constantly for job searches (www.ospreycareers.com).

The only spyware that was found was one called AutomatedSurf. However, the antispyware program did remove it.

Thanks
