Preferred Solution: Internet slow, cant use google chrome anymore. And whole system is very slow now

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

do not know how to revive the lost data and checked for suspicious malware also.

A couple days ago, my internet suddenly started going incredibly slow (I'm on a high-speed cable line). I usually use Chrome, and after searching I found a possible solution to disable the "predict network actions to improve page load performance" option in Chrome's settings, and that seemed to work for a few minutes. After that, it slowed to a crawl again, and now it doesn't matter whether that option is on or not. I also tested with Firefox and found that Firefox is even worse. It struggles just to load the home page when I open it (which is google.com). Also, other computers and devices running off the same wireless router have no problems, so clearly there's something wrong with my computer.

My instincts tell me virus, but I've run Avast, Malwarebytes' Anti-Maleware, and SuperAntiSpyware, all of which are totally up-to-date, and they haven't found anything. When doing anything else internet related, the computer seems to be functioning normally. It's only when I open an actual web browser such as Chrome or Firefox that it gets wacky. I noticed in the task manager that my CPU is also pegging at 100% when I open a browser as well, so the whole system slows to crawl. Close the browser and everything is fine again.

Anyone have any idea? Are my instincts right that this is some kind of sneaky virus, or is it likely something else that's the culprit? Thanks in advance for any help.

While browsing on any site, Chrome freezes for seconds and despite using CCleaner and other scans, with nothing coming up as bad, I can not seem to browse as I did a few weeks ago. My entire system seems to be running slowly. Thanks.

Right so lately the internet has been going slow and Chrome and Opera has also been a bit laggy especially when I visit sites like Facebook and Youtube, just laggy and slow. Also used CCLeaner but still the same.

Answer:Google Chrome, Opera Lag, and Internet Slow on Windows 7

What is the manufacturer of modem & router you have, along with their model numbers.  How are you connecting to the connection, when you are seeing these slow load times?  Who is your ISP?  What are your speeds to the nearest testing server to you at either your ISP speedtest site, or speedtest.net?

Hi all,
Well I described in details in the above fields what exactly happened and what I tried to do.

Right now I am on this pc, using MS edge, and I have internet and all seems fine. But all is not fine - clearly. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling chrome by the way. I reset browser settings several times and I have no extensions other than google's own (google docs, google sheets etc)
So I am wondering, how to fix this.
If I scan, every program says there is nothing on my pc. But If I use chrome, things just die (after quite some time). I'm considering just living w/o chrome but I mean - how can this not be fixable

Sorry for the long texts - I really searched this forum and tried all I could find. But I just can't solve this on my own it seems. Help is very appreciated.

Answer:Removed malware, all seems well, use Google Chrome, then internet dies and PC slow

Hello,
Fix with Farbar Recovery Scan Tool

This fix was created for this user for use on that particular machine.
Running it on another one may cause damage and render the system unstable.
Download attached fixlist.txt file and save it to the Desktop:

Both files, FRST and fixlist.txt have to be in the same location or the fix will not work!
Right-click on icon and select Run as Administrator to start the tool.
(XP users click run after receipt of Windows Security Warning - Open File).
Press the Fix button just once and wait.
If for some reason the tool needs a restart, please make sure you let the system restart normally. After that let the tool complete its run.
When finishes FRST will generate a log on the Desktop, called Fixlog.txt.

Please attach it to your reply.

I know it's malware, and from reading the forums I didn't run Comboware (i think that was the name) because the previous issue involved Symantec AV protection. Hey, recently I installed a codec for windows media player but I think it has turned out dodgy.
At first it started out that whenever I clicked a Google link, it would redirect to random websites.
Then when I tried to go on the Spybot website it re-directed to STOPzilla
I then noticed that my antivirus wouldn't update either (Bitdefender Total Security 2009 on windows xp home)
I ran Malwarebytes and let it clean everything and that consequently got rid of the redirecting of pages.
However the loading of webpages is severely slower to how it was before.
Originally there was a hijacking of the userinit.exe reistry file in the WindowNT>Current version>winlogon>userinit.exe
where ,C:\WINDOWS\system32\oembios.exe, had been added, i consequently deleted this and furthermore this solved the redirection but still didn't solve the slowness or the failing to load of spybot.
I tried to do a system restore however after the choosing the date screen I was unable to click the 'next' button.
This problem is really annoying and obviously needs sorting as soon as possible to prevent the system getting further infected.
I managed to get malwarebytes running through renaming the MBAM.exe file to trick the virus however after allowing it to delete everything like suggested elsewhere it now comes up clean however there's still a problem.
I have included my DDS log for your analysis .

Hello all,
My computer has recently become infected. I've scanned with Malwarebyte's Antimalware, Norton Internet Security, and SuperAntiSpyware. Norton didn't show any results, but Antimalware and Superantispyware both removed a decent amount of items, however I do not think my computer is entirely clean. Whenever I open Firefox, if it even opens, all of my google searches get redirected to different sites. The only site I remember being directed to was zanuga.com, but there were others. This also happens on IE8. I've tried opening Firefox in safemode, and I get the same redirects. I've posted my HiJack This log below.

Oh, and also, I've noticed the creation of HelpAssistant and HelpAssistant.desktop folders in my Documents and Settings directory.

Happy Holidays,
TRBMan

Thanks guys, I haven't done this in awhile so please bear with me...

After an older system of mine seemed to suddenly slow down and a current Symantec scan came up with nothing I ran Housecall on my system. Housecall found Adware_aeropopups and Adware_memwatcher before Housecall itself slowed down to nothing and died. I could not use Housecall to clean the malware/spyware cookies. I ran the Java Housecall plug-in; not the ActiveX. I then ran defrag and that helped some for the system so it seemed. However, the internet is stll quite slow on many occasions.

I ran Hijackthis and have pasted the log below along with a few system details. I only see GoogleDesktop in the log below as a potential problem. Please help! Everything else seems normal to my untrained eye. I will try adaware next if it is still free to use.

I'm running Windows XP Pro SP3 and IE 7.0.5730.11
I run Symantec Norton AV and have installed Avast in an effort to access another AV library. I know they will conflict from time to time and will remove one of them later.

Google Chrome has become slow to load and then it is very slow loading web pages and navigating round web sites.
From previous experience I thought this may be due to a virus but Malwarebytes has found nothing.
Can you help please.
Hope this is in the right place-if not please advise.

Answer:Google Chrome slow to load and slow to load web pages

Further info.
Noticed 2 instances of msiexec.exe running in Task Manager.
Googled this and found that if genuine it is part of Windows installer
but can also be a virus.
Did a search and found MSIEXEC.EXE-2F8A8CAE.pf
Googled this and found it is probably Malware.
If so can you help me get rid of it please

Hi guys.

I've been using Chrome for a long time, but I've never had this problem before.
Today it suddenly started to be really slow. Just entering a website takes a lot of time, but it hasn't got anything to do with my internet connection, which is around 8-10 Mbit on a wireless connection.
I have the "Internet Explorer" add-on for Chrome (Which allows me to open a website in Explorer in a tab in Chrome), and when I use that, the speed is normal again. Also, if I use regular Explorer, it works just fine.

I know the first obvious thing would be to reinstall Chrome, but I wanted to hear from you guys first, because I don't want to reinstall all my add-ons and redo all the settings if it's not necessary.

Thank you!

I moved over to Google Chrome about a year or so ago after having been recommended to use it as it is faster etc.At first the browser seemed very nice and was in fact faster. However, over the past month or so it has slowed down considerably to such an extent that it's taking 10-15 seconds (and often much longer) to load a page.I've run CCleaner, Super antispyware, malwarebytes as well as AVG anti virus but this doesn't seem to have helped.I've given up and gone back to IE which is now working much faster and at an almost acceptable speed.I'm wondering why Chrome deteriorated so drastically?I'm using an HP laptop with an AMD II P320 Dual-core, 3GB RAM Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit.

Answer:Google Chrome very slow

Have you uninstalled and reinstalled Chrome to see if it fixes the issue? For the fact that IE is faster than Chrome, it looks like its not an issue with bandwidth/your internet speed. Although if your curious as to the speed you can always run www.speedtest.net and get figures on your internet speed which is pretty realistic with exception to some ISP's that allow full bandwidth for sites that perform loopback testing, and then throttle your access to other sites which can confuse some people as to why a connection seems slow when speed testing shows it as fast, as well as the host of where ever your connection to may throttle or not have enough bandwidth with all the traffic that is hitting it, or due to location on the other side of the planet you get large latency due to the many hops to transmit the data between the server and your own computer.

Google Chrome sometimes gets so slow it is unusable. Lots of folks have offered help for the problem, but I have one good answer.I tried everything. Virus scans. Registry scans. Uninstalling and reinstalling Chrome. Cleared browsing data. Nothing worked. Then....Based on a tip from Google forums, I checked my userdata folder for Chrome. Guess what I found. There were about 65000 zero sized tmp files in the folder. The directory had been maxed out! There were also 65000+ tmp files in the folder above it. I deleted the entire folder(s), and uninstalled Chrome. Then I installed Chrome again from the website. Bingo! Fast Chrome! So after doing all the stuff I did, check out the userdata folders for Chrome and see if you don't have the same problem. The locations of the folders in Win XP areC:\Documents and Settings\{username}\Local Settings\Application Data\Google\Chrome\User Data\Default andC:\Documents and Settings\{username}\Local Settings\Application Data\Google\Chrome\User DataThose are the locations where I found the tmp files. Vista (yuck!) and Win7 will have similar locations. Check it out.A few of my clients (I'm a computer guy) had similar problems, and I fixed it the same way. I don't know what causes it. I only know how to fix it.This also fixes the 'Google Chrome didn't shut down correctly' problem.*Edit: Moved topic from Am I infected? ... Read more

Question: Slow Google Chrome

In say Internet Explorer there is a cache removal procedure, that might help to resolve a slowness of that browser.
Is there one for Google Chrome, because I seem to have a slowness problem, and I cannot find a way to resolve this.
Would mention, that Firefox is not involved, so it's possibly not a computer problem. I use CCleaner and a couple of other programs for the usual maintenance.

I'm using Windows XP fully updated, and I started using Chrome some months ago because of issues with IE7. Recently Chrome has been updated, and now displays on its Google home screen eight large thumbnails of sites I've recently visited. At the same time its initial loading has slowed down significantly, and it even locks up if I try to start using it before it's finished loading fully.
I've looked at the settings to try and find a way to disable the thumbnails, in the hope that this will speed up the loading, but can't find anything. In fact, I realise now that I don't even need to use the Google Search screen as my home page because Chrome's address bar doubles as a Google search bar. So how can I achieve a blank home page, so it doesn't waste time loading history?

Answer:Google Chrome now very slow to load

Yes, that's my version Jock1e.
Thinking about it a bit more, I have two choices but can't find either one in the setup menus: One is to change my Chrome home page to something other than Google -- perhaps even a blank page; the other is to configure the Google page so that it doesn't show the recent history thumbnails. That's on the assumption that it's the thumbnails that are slowing things down.

I ran malwarebytes, did the cleanup, and it is still slow. What else can I download for free to fix it?

Answer:Browser Google Chrome is slow.

Slow to open?
(A long time between asking Chrome to start and the time when the window appears.)

Slow to display a webpage?
If so, give us a sample link that is slow for you.
Does that website open "fast" using IE?
(In other words: Chrome is slow with respect to what? Past performance and/or IE.)

What do you get when you run this test using Chrome?
Peacekeeper - free universal browser test for HTML5 from Futuremark

Do you get better results for that test using Chrome while in the safe mode with networking?

How about if you start Chrome without any extensions?
Google Chrome Safe Mode
(some extensions might still load - but you can check for that)

The trouble started with google chrome (gc), which is my default browser. The blue roller/throbber kept coming up along with a notice "waiting for cache". I took various advice but none of it worked and the system (browser and W7) then began to close and re-open of it's own accord.

Next i attempted to switch to IE, which is on my desktop, but at first this "switch" was refused. Eventually, i managed to get an IE taskbar on a gc "page". At first, this was a Bing browser but now it merely seems to be IE.

Opening the browser takes up to 5-10 mins, and i might have to do it twice, and there are certain site/areas, such as youtube, that are very spotty.

I remember it first starting to play up when i clicked on a tag, and then in quick succession clicked on two more tags without giving time for the first tag to open - then again, perhaps thats irrelevant, and mere coincidence.

I recently removed malware that I found on my computer, earlier this week. It was working fine yesterday. However, when I tried to access the internet through Google Chrome, the page was completely blank. It took a long time to load up the infamous Google logo. Right after that, I tried to access a website and it would say "connecting" in the bottom left corner. The wifi at my dorm had a strong connection, too. I checked the internet through Firefox and the results were the same. I don't know if it's malware related or not. I would greatly appreciate the help.

Answer:Google Chrome and Firefox are slow!!!

I have to add that I can access the internet pretty well through safe mode with networking. But when it comes to working in normal mode, the connection is slow. It doesn't even load the page.

In our office network we use google mail, contacts, drive etc

Most people in the office are fine, but one employee is having trouble loading google contacts. His google mail loads fast, but contacts takes 5 minutes or just freezes.

He does have an older computer (5 years old) - Core 2 Duo, windows XP.

There's not many applications running on it, and what we do open runs smoothly.

He has the same proxy settings as everyone else in the office.

Can anyone give me some ideas of things to check?

Andy

Answer:Google Chrome Contacts Slow

Check his internet connection.

If he is still running on a G connection that isn't ideal any longer. All of the PC should be running on N or the new AC.

I don't think it was this slow when I installed Windows 10 back in August, but along the way something definitely happened that made it be this slow. Allow me to elaborate.

If I use Microsoft Edge, for example, pages load faster, videos on YouTube load faster and they don't freeze, when viewing images the process is faster, pages don't freeze when I try to scroll through them, etc... This only happens during the first minute or two of entering a page, though. So it's essentially the loading process of the page that is far slower than what it used to be.

Could this have anything to do with my internet speed? Microsoft Edge performs just fine, so that would suggest otherwise, but I'm not completely sure.

When I'm running heavy stuff such as games, both Chrome AND Edge become even slower, so Edge has issues too? Though I suppose that's to be expected, right? I mean, the system won't perform as flawlessly if we're running intensive apps, right? Not that mine's total crap, but it's not top of the line, either.

Still, the issue here is that Chrome runs like crap even when I'm not running anything in the background. With games and all, it's kind of expected, but without them running, Chrome shouldn't behave like this if Edge runs so smoothly.

What do you guys think it is? What should I do?

Thank you.

Hey guys, been having an issue with Facebook on google chrome the past 3 days. It's unusable.

Very slow loading, constant "spinning" loading icon and when it finally does semi-load (30 mins - 1 hour) the entire layout is all screwed up and interacting with the website causes it to get stuck loading.

Have tried:
Clearing cache+everything else via google chrome settings.
Disabling all extensions, and then doing the above.
Installing Click&Clean and running that programs cleaner.
Running Advanced Systemcare 8 and CCleaner.
Rebooting 500 times.
Checking for chrome updates (None)
Reinstalling Chrome
Nothing fixes it. Every website is running perfectly fine, except Facebook.

Any more ideas? Thanks.

Hi
I am new here, please be patient with me, am not sure what to do

okay lately, every time I visit YouTube site on Google chrome browser, after few mins it slows down load, and Google stops working, its just carries on loading but never stops or fully loads. This only happens when I go on youtube. If I just use google, it's fine.
Also when this happens no other browsers works as well: Internet explorer. and I have to reboot my computer to fix the problem every time, and it freezes on the logon page, so i have to Manually reboot it. Again this Normally doesn't happen Only when this problem occurs.
my internet is connected, no problem with that.
I cant keep rebooting my computer to fix that problem, Please help

I have ran the antivirus and nothing came up. so it might not be a malware.

When opening Google Chrome on my computer, I get an error message and an unable to use the program.  Further, Internet Explorer often kicks me off after an extended amount of use.  On top of this, my computer as a whole has been slow, especially in regards to internet functions.  The internet itself seems to be coming in at a good speed, but my computer is unable to utilize it.

I recently ran MalwareBytes, which found over a hundred issues which it claimed to have fixed. Prior to this, I was getting numerous pop-ups, but this has since been fixed. However, any of the other problems are still ongoing.

Please advise on how I should continue.

I got the Google Chrome beta version like 2 months ago and ever since when I click on links that people send me on Skype or Steam, there is like a 30 sec delay opening the link on Chrome. I have to copy the link and paste it in the browser if I want it to open immediately. Any ideas on what is causing this?

Answer:Google Chrome slow to open links.

Yea, i have the same thing with my rss feed. Its still a great browser over all, also, when i start up my comp, i can open internet within 5 seconds, but chrome takes 1 minute or so

Google Chrome has been running slower than usual the past couple of days so I think I may be infected. I recently installed a streaming software but deleted it so I'm not sure if that has anything to do with this. I have tabs that frequently crash and it's slow typing and scrolling through a page sometimes. I am running windows 7. I ran a Microsoft Security Essentials scan and it came up with nothing. Then, I ran a Malwarebytes scan about an hour ago and it came up with 16 infections which I quarantined but it still feels a little laggy. Thanks in advance.

I'm having problems with Google Chrome.Very slow to load websites and sometimes not at all. Also it keeps getting redirected to spuriouse and ,sometimes, dodgy websites.Scrolling with the mouse centre wheel also becomes difficult-very jerky. I've noticed that when all this is happening one instance of svchost.exe (out of ten running in Task Manager) is pulling over 90% of CPU capacity. If I stop this things return to normal.I'm running Windows XP (SP3) Pentium D 3.00GHz.I have AVG running and have already run Malwarebytes. Apart from a load of tracking cookies nothings come up but I've read in various places that svchost.exe can be Trojan Horse SHeur3 (?)
Any ideas please?

p.s. This is my first post-hope it's in the right place-apologies if not.

Hello,

I have switched to another ISP a couple of days ago. Once my modem/router was set up and everything was a go. However, the issue on web browsing popped up and is persisting ever since. I had never experienced this such problem when I subscribed to the previous ISP.

The pages load way too slow in either IE9 or Google Chrome. Is there any solution for this problem?

On my other computer, running WinXP, the pages open blazing fast.

Any help to resolve?

Answer:Slow loading on pages in either IE9 or Google Chrome

Well, I have contacted tech support of ISP and was told that my DSL account has not been FULLY activated yet. So, I'll wait and see for tonight.

I have a Dell computer running Windows VIsta. When I open up Google Chrome I do not get to the homepage that I have set as my homepage. I get a page that shows You Tube, Gmail, google search and Chrome store. When I go to settings to set the homepage it shows that it is there. However when I click on the Home button I get the same page.

Also the page is very slow to open besides not getting to my homepage that I have set. I recently ran Spybot because my husband updated flash player and there was some junk there that I was able to get rid of. I also uninstalled Flash player plugin and reinstalled. Still have the same problem

Any suggestions?

Nancy

Each time i watch a video in Chrome the browser start to behave weird, if i am on the same tab as the video playback and i try to type a word to search or url in URL bar and press enter the browser's loading icon never stops spining and i must close that tab and create a new one and the browser becomes really slow .

My theory is:

A) Internet Download Manager may cause the problem

B) Google Account Sync may slow down the browser ???

C) The Avast online security add-on/plugin browser may is causing the problem

Answer:Google Chrome becomes slow after viewing web videos

I actually vote for D) the built in Adobe Flash Player

How to fix Flash Player lag in Chrome | Blog

A workaround used to be disabling the built-in and using the same Flash Player as firefox but that no longer works.

Saw this as well:
"To anyone encountering similar issues... try disabling hardware acceleration.... it was a tenfold improvement for me on my laptop.
To disable it... type "chrome:settings" in the address bar, click Advanced Settings, then uncheck "Use hardware acceleration when available" under the System header. Close all open Chrome browser instances and restart Chrome.
Chrome had always ran really well for me.... until rather recently. This seemed to fix my biggest problem of late. Give it a shot and let me know... curious how it works for others. Not sure why HW acceleration seems to be the culprit, nor what exactly changed that caused this issue."

Answer:Download speed on Google Chrome is slow

RE: download speed on google crome is slow

Assuming you are not infected (if you think you are, ask for help in the infected section), I'd recommend a complete reinstall of Chrome. If you don't want to dig around and remove the remnants, you could first install Revo Uninstaller Free, and run it on at least the Moderate setting, which should remove leftovers in ProgramData (a hidden folder in the main C: folder) and AppData (a hidden folder in your user folder) and the registry keys.

It shouldn't be that slow for download. But as an example, I know at my house Firefox loads pages way faster than Chrome or Safari or IE, but that might be more with my connection here. Download speed is about the same across the board though. I have a 15 down connection here.

Hi guys,

it was the other way around a year ago. I have latest editions of both web browsers but I'm unable to understand what's going on with Chrome.

I tried disabling DNS prefetching, deleting cached content (all) but nothing helped. Do you have any suggestion?

On the other hand IE9 (release candidate) is running like a wind. I'm using Windows 7 Ultimate OS.

With malware infections being as they are today, it's strongly recommended to have the Windows Recovery Console pre-installed on your machine before doing any malware removal.

The Windows Recovery Console will allow you to boot up into a special recovery (repair) mode. This allows us to more easily help you should your computer have a problem after an attempted removal of malware. It is a simple procedure that will only take a few moments of your time.
Go to Microsoft's website => http://support.microsoft.com/kb/310994

Select the download that's appropriate for your Operating System

Download the file & save it as it's originally named.

Please note once you start ComboFix you should not click anywhere on the ComboFix window as it can cause the program to stall.

Drag the setup package onto ComboFix.exe and drop it.

I believe I may have some malware that may need removing, if I need to do some hijack logs or anything please point in the right direction! It's been some time since I last had a problem like this.

Cheers, and thanks in advance.

I am a user of Firefox and have been for many years, but now that Mozilla have engaged in a version race to infinity and the Google toolbar plus several add-ons and possibly other auxiliary programs do not work, I am considering moving over to Chrome.

I use Windows XP 2002 Home with SP3, AVG2012 and ZA firewall.

I am currently giving Chrome a good trial run, but again the Google toolbar,KeyScrambler and NoScript are not supported. As I use Sandboxie and have no personal finance details on my computer, the loss of these otherwise useful programs does not matter too much. Nothing will get onto my computer and knowing my key strokes is of little value. NoScript ? No great loss regarding security in my case.

Question ?

I find that Chrome takes an age to load the Google Home Page and so do many other users on the web. Much slower than Firefox. Seems to be something to do with loading the Cache, I get a message saying "Waiting for Cache" and a time-out panel saying "Kill or Wait". Timing it results in 60-70 seconds from clicking the desktop icon to being fully loaded. Once loaded, all is OK. Firefox takes 35 seconds. I am finding Chrome with extensions and my selected settings a very attractive alternative to Firefox..

Is there anything that can be done about this ?

Answer:Chrome slow to load Google Home Page

Just an update.

I have found that adjusting the Chrome settings has made a big improvement.
Wrench>Options>Under the Hood>Privacy. Uncheck item 3 and/or item 2. I am currently running with items 2 & 3 unchecked.
The load time is now 5-10 seconds - it does vary a little, but is mostly 5 seconds. this is without Sandboxie.
With Sandboxie, the load time is 12-20 seconds. Infinitely better than before, so in the absence of another solution, there it stays. I can live with that.

Here is a screen shot :-

A question,

We use google chrome as our default internet browser. While it is loading up in the lower left hand of the window we see the text lines say resolving host then establishing secure connection now this does take some time before the site comes up - Do I have a problem? My wife always asks "why does it say waiting on yahoo" as just an example. I told her it was a network traffic issue. Just like a little help on this.

Answer:When using google chrome establishing secure connection slow

Delays such as you describe...I just went through a spell with such (Firefox).

Refreshing the browser (or resetting it) may eliminate the problem.

The other day a random website popped up javasafeupdate.com and wanted me to "update my Java"..  It didn't look trust worthy so I tried to close out, but it wouldn't let me.  Eventually I had to end task on Chrome.  For the next couple of days I kept getting popups from several different websites including Vube.com and a few others.  I have Malwarebytes Pro installed, but it's not finding anything.  I installed HiJack this which found a few things, but I'm still having an issue with Chrome.  When it opens it takes longer to go to my homepage (google.com).  Also, before I opened this thread I opened Chrome and javasafeupdate.com opened again.  I've been using bleepingcomputers for years and I'll admit I already ran a few of the tools in hopes of resolving this issue on my own.  I'll NOT run anything else until directed.  Thanks..

All day yesterday I was browsing the internet with no problems which includes me playing games and browsing the web today however. Whenever I go to youtube the videos load and play just fine but the thumbnails only appear black, after about a minute or so of watching a video the thumbnails will eventually load up and appear as they should. I have included an image to show exactly what im talking about. Also at different times of the day today I noticed that my browsing experience would be very slow on my laptop not allowing me to watch videos while still allowing me to play games that required me to be connected to the internet and while doing so I had no lag/latency and when I tested my connection on two ipads and an additional laptop neither device had any of these issues. Only my current laptop. I have tryed using system restore to restore my pc back to a point in time where this issue did not happen but that has not worked I have tryed using firefox and the issue still occurs. I have even reinstalled chrome and cleared chromes browser cache and history along with its cookies as well.

Answer:google chrome crashes and loads pages very slow

Looks like you have at least 8 different extensions :O
Disable each of them and try again. Also, go to about:flags and disable anything that you have enabled.
Also, run command prompt (press Windows+R, enter "cmd.exe" without the quotes, and press enter), and the command is:
Code:
ipconfig /flushdns

Why is it taking so long to open up a page in either Mozilla or Google Chrome browser?
1. It always says Mozilla not responding.
2. Script Error
3. Stop Plugins

Answer:Slow Response of both Mozilla and Google Chrome browser

Goto Windows Task Manager

CTRL+Shift+Del>Processes look at the CPU and RAM
See what is going on.
Too many Google Chrome being running if not too many extensions then a malware or virus can be running.

I have two computers running Windows 8.1 and have Google Chrome, with latest updates.

Over the past months I've been running into problems when the Adobe Flash plug-in runs. I've seen it notoriously bad on forums and on photo sharing sites (like Photobucket).

Symptom:
Initial page load will be fine.As site Flash media begins to execute, the browser page will become sluggish.Scrolling will become increasingly slow and unresponsive.Eventually a warning appears at the top that Flash is running slowly and if I wish to stop it.Stopping it will trigger a reload.Often Flash will end up crashing altogether.

This behavior won't be cleared until the browser is completely stopped and restarted. There does seem to be a worsening if multiple tabs on the same site are opened, but even still, crashes will happen with just a few tabs open.

My browser has only one instance of the Flash plug-in (there are numerous tips about checking Chrome plug-ins, finding 2 Flash entries, and disabling one). There is nothing else added that could be doing anything to interfere with Flash. I have Avast Anti-virus, but disabling it doesn't seem to affect Flash reliability.

I have reproduced this easily on two completely separate computers running Windows 8.1 on Google Chrome. I've searched on-line but haven't turned up much help at all.

Any advice on how to deal with this would be much appreciated. Thanks!

My PC has been running slow lately with freeze ups that eventually recover. So I pulled up task manager to see if I could see anything going on. And I see all these processes entries that have a bunch of random letters for their names and in the description are listed as google chrome using up a bunch of memory and CPU power. Any attempt to end them fails. They come right back. I don't even have chrome. The scan with malwayrebytes did find a bunch of stuff and got rid of that. That didn't fix this problem though. Please help.

They call me TwinHeadedEagle around here, and I'll be working with you.

Before we start please read and note the following:

At the top of your post, please click on the "Watch thread" button and make sure to check Watch this thread...and receive email notifications. This will send an email to you as soon as I reply to your topic, allowing me to solve your problem faster.
Please do not install any new software during the cleaning process other than the tools I provide for you. This can hinder the cleaning process. Please do not perform System Restore or any other restore.

Guys I just joined to help you out with this. I have been infected twice now with this Chrome random executables. It installs as you all have said
C:\Users\jschwartz\AppData\LocalLow\Microsoft\Pjddrcnolzd\updovrrefmes

It creates a Schedule Task in Task Scheduler to relaunch a random dll. If your infected you can sort scheduled tasks by task run in the last 1 hour.

BTW all folder directories it creates under the Locallow directories are random as well as the dll names and exe's are all random too. If you use "process Explorer" you can suspend the regsvr32.exe then kill all the random executables it creates.

I don't know which program is launching regsvr32.exe but the command is shown when my User Access Control prompts me to let it run. Heres how its launched:

C:\windows\syswow64\cmd.exe /c start regsvr32.exe "Path to the random dll under the locallow directory"

Hope this helps....still investigating. This problem I got infected from just regular browsing on the internet. No inappropriate websites. This is my work laptop so I don't have Admin rights but can contribute with what I find.

Hope this helps.

Scan with Farbar Recovery Scan Tool

Please download Farbar Recovery Scan Tool and save it to your desktop.

Note: You need to run the version compatibale with your system. If you are not sure which version applies to your system download both of them and try to run them.
Only one of them will run on your system, that will be the right version.
Double-click to run it. When the tool opens click Yes to disclaimer.
Press Scan button.
It will make a log (FRST.txt) in the same directory the tool is run. Please attach it to your reply.
The first time the tool is run, it makes also another log (Addition.txt). Please attach it to your reply.

Less than a week ago, I used Control Panel to disable Google Chrome automatic update checking & installations. I did this because Chrome sometimes automatically checks for available updates and ties nearly all of computer resources while some unknown process associated with Chrome occurs. I thought this was because of the automatic update checking and installing, which why I turned this off (through Scheduling Tasks, in Control Panel.)

Just a couple of hours ago, I fresh-started the computer (Windows XP, s.p.3, 2.0GHz processor, 512MB RAM, Norton Internet Security 2011, Internet Explorer 8, Firefox 7.01, Google Chrome (belief up to date, 15.0.874.121 m)), visited internet using Internet Explorer - NOT CHROME - and had not yet even opened chrome during this user session. A few minutes after the internet usage, the computer became suddenly very, very, very slow, and Norton File Insight indicated high memory usage from Google Chrome. It reported "setup.exe" as the file causing this. I clicked to see where file is this was file, and after maybe 5 or 7 minutes, a folder opened in response indicating C:....CR_2D830.tmp\setup.exe.

When the Chrome business finished, apparantly not accomplishing anything that I could tell, computer responsiveness returned to normal.

I just wonder, is my computer so affected not really well suited for Google Chrome Browser? Also, must I completely uninstall Chrome in order to make sure this unknown process regarding Chrome... Read more

Uninstall Chrome if it bothers you that much. There seems to be a new version of Chrome weekly so it's something that comes with the territory.

Hello,

My Windows 7 home destktop PC recently developed these problems:

1. Sluggish performance by Google Chrome, freezing, causing occasional crashes to blue screen;
2. Sluggish loading of desktop upon startup, very slow, sometimes failed opening of Windows Explorer;
3. Eventually Chrome stopped working - when launched, it would try unsuccessfully to load any URL; will keep trying and preventing me from opening/running anything else on the machine; eventually I'd need to shut down using the power switch. Repeated tries yielded the same result - I clean un-installed Chrome, cleaned registry, restarted, re-installed Chrome, nothing worked. Each time I'd try running Chrome, my machine essentially just froze up while Chrome tried to access the home page I'd always had it bring up upon launch.

4. I did several scans for malware using MalwareBytes Antimalware, eSET, MS Security Essentials, with no threats detected in all cases.

5. I went on SpywareInfoForum.com to seek help. I was given extensive instructions on how to scan, clean, try many things with the machine, including having it do a clean boot, to no avail. To make a long story short, I'm currently running the machine each time with a clean boot, but still the problem with Chrome remains.

6. During the investigation of this problem with Chrome I checked Windows Update and it told me I had 58 critical updates I hadn't applied. So I tried doing that, but eventually found out that the downloa... Read more

Answer:Windows Update Excruciatingly Slow, Google Chrome Compatibility Problem

Update: I have now been able to get my Windows 7 fully updated. This is from reading and following instructions from this page:

http://www.howtogeek.com/255435/how-to-update-windows-7-all-at-once-with-microsofts-convenience-rollup/

I downloaded the MS convenience rollup package, ran that, it installed a bunch of updates all the way up to May 2016. I then used Windows Update to do the remaining patches, several at a time, until the last batch, when I did about 20, 25 of them, and this time, they downloaded and installed fairly quickly.

So great, I got that one problem solved. But then Google Chrome is still not behaving normally on my clean (and still booting clean), fully updated Windows 7. I still have to run it in Vista compatibility mode, otherwise it will hang on launch, trying over and over to load a starting page, without success. And it can't get to any other page either, eventually just causing me to close or kill it with the Task Manager.

Help! Anyone here have any idea how I should troubleshoot and fix this ongoing problem?

Thanks for any and all advice.

Below is the log of running files. ldckasri3g.exe (thats an L not an I) always finds its way back onto my running processes, but the file is not found in any search engine as a known process, but actually spyware doctor identifies it as FakeAV, I guess it just makes up a file name. Everything runs super slow and IE8 will occasionally pop up a web page or will sometimes start playing audio from an unknown source. It's also apparent to me that this malware keeps downloading trojans no matter what I remove. I never get any system warnings however. nor do I get any fake adware/anti virus programs trying to run.Programs will sometimes not start up, just take me to cmd screen and then immediately close-Google Chrome will not work, or will open but not connect to internet (will give a page error with a folder with an unhappy face on it), only Firefox and IE8 (Chrome had always worked before)-AdAware cannot "connect to the service"-Spyware Doctor finds a smattering of trojans on each full sweep and removing everything is only a very temporary fix. Hello there,

I recently noticed my laptop running very slow, especially when using Youtube videos.  I deleted some old junk to free up some memory but that didn't help.  Defragged my laptop and ran several virus scans, but no improvment and nothing found on the scans.  I found a new program installed on my laptop called "Spigot Search Protection" which I uninstalled.  No improvement after this.  I then noticed about a dozen processes running on my Task Manager that appeared to be Google Chrome windows.  They were using up a ton of memory... and I use Firefox not chrome so I thought it was weird.  I uninstalled Google chrome, but they remained open and listed as google chrome programs.  I opened the file location and ran a virus scan directly, and it came back with no threats detected  (I ran Kaspersky). The image name for each process that is running is Lnzdypqnuf.exe*32 and appears as a GoogleChrome file.
At this time I did a Google search and came up with this website (it seems others have had the exact same problem).  I saw that each case should be handled specifically, so I decided to register and post instead of trying to figure it out myself.

If anyone can assist me with getting rid of this problem I would greatly appreciate it.  I have never downloaded a virus before, and do not open ads or clickbait on websites.  I do use Utorrent once in awhile and expect that is how I downloaded this vir... Read more

So where to start with this computer. I guess I'll start with the foundation of the problem
I own a Dell Inspiron of which I use fairly less than my separate computer. Lately, a lot of problems have begun to arise.
My computer runs incredibly slow. I've gone about cleaning it with CCleaner and checking for Malware using Malwarebytes. Overall I began to see the health of my computer increase as time passed and I was happy with the results. That is until I put the computer to the side for a week to let it cool down so to speak.
When I booted up, I was greeted with the Windows 7 logo for about 5 minutes, incredibly longer than the last time I tended to it. When I finally logged in to the computer itself, everything seemed normal.
As per my normal suspicions, I instantly ran Malwarebytes. Instead of opening however, it instant closed. Rather disappointed, I turned instead to finishing the install of AVG. I was greeted there with the installation client stating that there was no network to complete the install.
I was connected to the internet without any exclaimation point for a warning? That couldn't be right.
So just out of testing, I opened up Steam to see if it was an overall problem. It prompted me with the idea that it had no internet connection. Same with Razer Cortex. I checked Windows Firewall to ensure they were all in the exceptions, and they were. Strange.
I opened Chrome and found that it instantly connected to Google. Every other application but Chrome had no intern... Read more

This has been a long standing problem for us.  Accessing the internet, which is the primary use of this computer, is extremely slow.  I use the free version of Avast.  I have increased memory, run CCleaner regularly, run Malwarebytes, Hitman Pro , Spybot on occassion to see if it will catch something.  The performance improves immediately after running those, but then returns to extremely slow.  I do not use add-ons/extensions.

This is an older system running windows Vista with service pack 2.

Any and all help would be appreciated.

Thank you

Okay I'm going to do a full PC check but all my systems seem fine as of yesterday. A little background to help others help me I'm on a Windows Small Business Server 2003 environment with no other server connection but one machine, I have 3 shared drives created on the server and am running Shared Point Services 2.0 as well and all my computers on the network have a login script assigned to them when booting onto the network so their drives are automatically mapped. Oh and I have POS old Sony laptop running as a proxy using Winproxy 5.0, but it has about a gig of speed and 512 RAM and the connection goes: in from the outside, to the proxy, line directly to server, server assigns ISP's by DHCP internally.

My computer is a Dell Optiplex 2600

Here's a question to start from another thread I posted: About two months back or so I noticed if I put cd's into my PC at work I must have downloaded a rootkit or something because now I cannot play some cd's that I can play on my home computer and others in the office. Now in the future is is safer to burn MP3's on an external harddrive and listen that way or avoid Sony cd's?

Now to the problem, I put in a burned cd this morning it starts up WMP 10 fine and I'm listening to Back in Black then all of a sudden my computer freezes. Crashes my financial program which I think nothing of because I am using Master Builder 11.2 by ... Read more

HijackThis doesn't handle Windows 7 well. In your case I need to see a final DDS Log.
I would remove HijackThis using the Add/Remove Programs list.

Download DDS by sUBs from one of the following links if you no longer have it available.  Save it to your desktop.

1: DDS.scr (Not recommended if you use Chrome to download this .scr file. Use the other options.)
2: DDS.pif
3: DDS.COM

Double click on the DDS icon, allow it to run.
A small box will open, with an explanation about the tool.  No input is needed, the scan is running.
Notepad will open with the results.
Follow the instructions that pop up for posting the results.[/list]Please note:  You may have to disable any script protection running if the scan fails to run.

Please just paste the contents of the DDS.txt log in your next post. DO NOT attach the log.===

Windows has become very slow, as well as Chrome. Opening new tabs/loading them seems to hang forever and my computer randomly freezes for a few minutes and I can't do anything until it un-freezes.

While using computer last night trying to update my games and the various applications to ensure the system is safe, I kept getting these Zone Alarm Alerts that  bit-torrent rundl32 - u torrent and other various run32dll WinSys alerts notifying me that they are trying to access the internet. when I went to open Zone Alarm, I was startled to notice that both the fire wall the id protection tabs were disabled leaving my system vulnerable.  The last time I checked to update Zone Alarm was just a couple days ago.  I have this set to be done manually. And, when I checked it a couple days ago, the Zone Alarm was all up and running fine. So, either the update I just completed on it last night caused the program to be rendered vulnerable, or possibly whatever possible virus I have on my wife's computer caused ZoneAlarm to crash.  However,  I select the deny option on all request on the above mentioned alerts to access the internet.  I did not download this U-Torrent or whatever other program is causing all the problems, but evidently found out that my son is the culprit. He has been trying to download free peer to peer mp3's again for his Ipod.  So,  I ran the free version of Avast Antivirus, and it discovered (1) virus, called, " Wind32.Malware-Gen. After I ran the initial scan, I rebooted and let it complete the full bootscan.  It stated that It eliminated the infection and stored it in the Virus Chest.  Next, I ran a free ESET onli... Running older PC Clone 2.0 Ghz Dual CPU Pentium, 1GB Ram Win XP Home Edition system.

While navigation on Internet Explorer or Google Chrome, system runs extrememly slow and/or crashes. When using applications such as Itunes, Email, or simply opening up Word and other applications, it runs very slow and almost seems to stop. The IE7 that was on the computer had changed to an operate with add-ons off as a result of the infection. I downloaded and reinstalled IE7 and this seems to have fixed that problem for the time being. MalwareBytes and SuperAntiSpy icons dissappeared from my desktop. When trying to use them from the Start / Menu options the programs no longer worked. I reinstalled them and they appear to work fine now. However, the system still seems to run very slow over all and its performance is greatly hindered.

Next, I ran free version of SuperAntiSpyware and all it detected was a couple Adware cookies. Secondly, I ran free version of Malware Bytes Anti-Malware and it detected PUP.GamePlayLab infections located in the Registry Key: HKLM\SOFTGWARE\Microsoft\Windows.... These files were removed and quarantined by MWB. Thirdly, I ran Old Timer's TFC and then rebooted the computer and it appeared to run a little faster, but still sluggish while using IE7. So, finally, I ran ESET Free Online Scanner, and it detected "Win32/Toolbar.Babylon and Win32/TopMedia.a" virus infections. Scan took about 2 1/2 hours. I set it to search the drives/ar... Read more

Hi!
I have a problem of slow Internet. My speed is supposed to be 20 mbps (and when I do a speedtest, that’s what it shows as well), but my Internet is really slow, whether in Firefox, Chrome or even in the iTunes Store on iTunes, or loading images in emails in Thunderbird. Most of the pages take a really long time to load (sometimes not even loading at all so I have to refresh) and I don’t understand why. I tried restarting my computer, running Firefox in safe mode, checking for viruses and running Malware Bytes and CCleaner, but nothing I tried changed anything. Internet is at its normal speed on all my other computers and devices. My computer in itself is sometimes a little slow, but a few weeks ago, the Internet speed was still normal no matter what.
Also, in case you need to know, I’m on Windows 7.
Any suggestions for what I could try?
Thanks in advance!

A couple of weeks ago I installed Windows 8 (fresh install from scratch, not an update) on my computer. I do a lot of web browsing and over the last couple of weeks I've been using Windows 8, I could swear the web browsing wasn't as fast at it used to be on Windows 7.
I then noticed I was having major issues bringing up my router's control panel (ASUS RT-N56U) so thinking it was my router I upgraded the firmware. Turned out, the Avast Anti-Virus I was running has issues with Windows 8. I removed AVAST and turned on Windows Defender (which in Windows 8 is also an anti-virus program now referred to MSE - Miscrosoft Security Essentials). MSE has gotten fairly good reviews so I decided to use it, for maximum compatibility with Windows 8.

However, although the router control panel would now come up okay, browsing still seemed to not be quite as fast as it used to be. I sat down at the old 5-year old Dell Desktop next to me that is running Windows 7, both computers were connected to the router via Gigabit Ethernet. I tested network speeds with Speedtest.net to make sure they were both getting the same Internet speeds (which they were.) I found a couple 'heavy' web pages to test:

www.epicurious.com (home page)
sports.yahoo.com (home page)

The browsing was MUCH faster on the Windows 7 machine!! So I decided to do more of a controlled test.

My 18-month-old Dell Inspiron pc, running Windows 10, has suddenly become very slow to turn off, like about 10 minutes. It loads as quickly as before.
Before this occurred, for about a week Chrome had become very slow to load - about 20 mins - while there was no such problem with Firefox. I am in a slow area for broadband, and neighbours have been complaining of particularly slow speeds recently.
I ran a McAfee quick scan and nothing bad was found. I tried to run the free versions of Malware Bytes and Spybot but these persistently would not load. I tried to uninstall Chrome but could not - nor could I uninstall any other programme.
Any ideas?
Many thanks,
Ackroyd

Answer:Google Chrome wont work anymore

Hi -
Do you have any other browsers on your system at this time - Just a few first few basic steps to look at to begin with -
Most people still have Internet Explorer or Firefox installed - If you do have any of these installed then is there any problems with them ??
Have you attempted to uninstall Chrome and reinstall it ?? As Chrome is an add on , retry I.E. 7 or I.E. 8 first -

Thank You -

I have NO idea why Canary stopped working, but I went to open it and nothing happens.  I have a Win 7 machine.  Regular Goggle works fine, but Canary won't open and I want to get my bookmarks off it.  Any suggestions?

Thanks!

Answer:Google Chrome Canary won't open anymore

You made me go looking !  I have Chrome installed but rarely use it - I don't like it. Apparently all versions of Chrome come out first as 'Canary' releases which are pre-beta very early versions ripe for finding the bugs in. This article may explain the matter more coherently and you may just have to wait for the next 'canary' version to come along.
