Contacts from my email account were spammed using my email address

Question: Contacts from my email account were spammed using my email address

I have an att.net email account which is now serviced by Yahoo. Today a spam message originated from my account and was sent to everyone on my contacts list. "xmas" was in the subject line and the content was a web address which opens to a website apparently selling medications from Canada. Webroot antivirus has not detected any virus or malware on my computer. What should I do? Do I need to close the att.net email account?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

This morning everyone in my contacts list got an email from me that had no subject and contained a link to a canadian pharmacy. My wife came in and asked me about it and said she had clicked the link - that's how I know where it went to. Anyway, after I chewed her out for clicking on links in email, I sent a note to everyone in my contacts and told them not to click thru on anything from me.

I Use Windows Live Hotmail for email. I recently upgraded to Windows Live Skydrive but don't even know what that is. My email account is at msn.com ([email protected]) and I have had this account for over 10 years because I need to keep the msn address.

This is a Dell Dimension 8400 running XP SP3. I keep the Windows security updates current and it's set to auto update.

I use IE 8.0 primarily for browsing, but also have FireFox installed and use it occasionally.

I have the full-suite Mcafee SecurityCenter (provided free with Comcast cable internet) installed and fully armed. I just ran a sweep that turned up nothing.

I have Webroot SpySweeper (provided free with MSN) set up with the default shields turned on. I just ran a scan that turned up nothing.

I have Advanced System Care Pro on subscription and just ran a deep scan that turned up nothing.

For about two months or so I have noticed my hard drive is occasionally running hard (it's noisy) when I am not doing anything that should be running the HD. I have tried looking at the processes running with Task Manager but don't see any... Read more

Answer:My Email Account Hacked? It just spammed all my contacts

Your computer security and your web based mail may, or may not have anything to do with each other.

Scenario 1. Your computer is infected and someone got access to your Hotmail username and password.
Scenario 2. Your computer is clean, but someone hacked just your Hotmail account.

Whatever the case is, you should post in malware forum to see, if your computer is clean.
Also, in both cases, your Hotmail account has been compromised and you'll need to create new one.

Hi guys,

'Boopme' had me run MiniToolBox and he wrote that he found "errors and other issues" and he bumped me to this thread.

Norton now seems to be removed and the restart was successful w/ out a restore.

This is what I wrote in under the from "Am I infected?" thread;

Been having problems with my laptop running Vista Home premium svc pack2.
One day, a month ago, Norton was not updating properly. Upon the next boot-up windows would not start and I was forced to restart in safe mode with a system restore. This was successful but Norton Security Suite was still not updating properly.
Since then, on a few occasions, I have attempted to uninstall Norton without success thru the program uninstaler. Norton is unresponsive. I even got the Norton rep. to do a remote deletion of all registry files of Norton. But they all returned after the reboot of my PC because windows would not open and I had to start-up thru system restore.
Since then my yahoo email been hacked and spam sent to the contacts of my address book.
I know I got something but I don't know what.. Can anyone take a stab at what I might need to do?
Thanks,
Brian

Hi,

I have:

OS: Windows XP SP3
Antivirus: avast!

I noticed in the last few days that when I attempt to download my emails into Outlook 2007. my antivirus "avast!" blocks malware "Win32-Malware-gen". Last night, people in my address book have contacted me saying a load of dodgy emails (just containing a url) have been sent from my email account. I didn't send anything. I must be infected. Is it safe for me to send emails to people now?

Also I notice whenever I attempt to load a webpage in IE the page load seems to fail and IE executes a webpage recovery process to reload the page. I have Prevx and Scotty WinPatrol running in the background.

What should I do now to get rid of this infection? I don't want to do any more damage.

Regards
Nick

Answer:Email Spammed from my account and IE recovery reloads

I forgot to mention I also have "Rapport Service" and "Spyware Terminator Realtime Shield 32-bit" Service running in background. They didn't seem to stop me getting infected.

Everyone in my address book (gmail) has been sent an email (apparently) from me entitled "Re: Good Morning" which includes the text:

i've sent you the details of the Document
and a link titled "View PDF". This link shows the Google Drive banner and requests email address, phone number. and password.

Looking at my Gmail sent folder, I see no such outgoing email. I don't know how this happened. My concern is that rogue software on my PC either sent out the phishing emails or grabbed my Gmail credentials.

I have run CCleaner, RogueKiller, Malwarebytes Anti-Malware, TDSSKiller, HitmanPro, and MGtools according to the instructions on this site.

I have attached the log files to this post.

Answer:My address book has been spammed with apparent phishing email

Hi there, I am reviewing those logs and will get back to you with a response in a few moments.

Hi everyone. A few days ago I got a mailerdamon failure notice. I looked and it was a link sent out to a bunch of my contacts....I've changed my password about 4 times, and it just happened again today. I'm changing my password from another computer btw. When I look in my sent folder, it doesn't have the virus email as one that's been sent. I just downloaded Avira Antivirus, and it says its blocking a site from connecting to my computer, it scanned and found two GEN/pwd.zip virus and quarantined them. I'm also getting a DEP error on IE when I try to get on the net.

Worth noting, the past few days I was on another forum do to my computer trying to connect to "pinball corp". I was using malwarebytes at that time, which I've since uninstalled because Avira says it might conflict with it. We went through all the malware removal procedures, and when I tried to run TFC.exe, my computer froze. So I hardbooted it. When it came back on I couldn't run any programs, and my wireless network driver was uninstalled. I was able to delete a lot of programs from my startup folder that I wasn't using, and when I restarted I could run programs again.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Hi

Is there some way of moving all messages from my hotmail account to another email address? So when I emails are sent to my hotmail address they are then sent to my other email address, (then deleted from hotmail).
Is there a program that can sit on the desktop that is always checking hotmail, and when a email is recieved it is then sent to another email address? (this address is not a hotmail address).

Any possibilities??

Answer:Make all email that is recieved from my hotmail account go to another email address.

possibly
if you have outlook express linked to your hotmail account you can run a rule on the mail - not sure if it works on webmail cia outlook/outlook express
but the rume to forward certainly works

Hello,

I was contacted by some friends last Sunday who said they received lots of wierd emails from my email account. The emails contained nothing but a link. I did not send any emails over the weekend so I don't know how this happened. This must be a virus, right? I noticed my antivirus (avast!) began (a few days back) blocking a couple of malwares when downloading emails to Outlook 2007 on my laptop. It identified a infection called "Win32-Malware-gen". It now does this everytime I try to download emails and I now have duplicate emails in my Inbox. My antivirus identified the infected emails having subject "DHL Express Delivery" or "FedEx Service Notification" and a document.zip attachment which I think contained document.exe if I'm reading the Avast! log correctly. I did not open any of these emails. The antivirus moved them to chest but it seems the problem wasn't resolved. I then get a microsoft message saying Outlook encountered a problem and cannot exit. It offers me an "End Now" button, but it seems to get into a loop and the whole scenario happens again whereby Outlook reloads and I get the malware messages again.

Another problem I noticed which might be connected is that in IE8, whenever I attempt to login to any site it blocks and reloads webpage with "This tab has been recovered - A problem with this website caused Internet Explorer to close and reopen tab" message. Then it asks me t... Read more

Something has been sending emails containing one or two urls to my Yahoo mail contact list. A url in the email is deleted. I do not know the others although one was apparently for Canadian pills. I have run Malwarebytes, Trend Micro Housecall, iobit 360 security, spybot and I have Norton Security Suite running at all times and updated. I have run all in Safe and regular startup mode. My operating system is xp pro service pack 3. I cannot find any malware or viruses. I have change my @yahoo password and deleted my contact list. This seems to have stopped the sending of emails. Am I hacked?Thanksjohnny eagle

Answer:Yahoo Mail Account contacts Spammed

Your yahoo email account has been hacked. If you login to Yahoo and look in the Sent folder, do you see these emails listed there ? If so, then your yahoo account was probably hacked.

Your tcpview log looks clean, but that does not necessarily mean that you didnt/dont have a virus that logged your password. Only way to check for that is to do a thorough analysis in the virus removal section.

One email address in my contacts disappeared. It does not pop out automatically anymore when I spell the first letter.

I checked in my red list if I had misplaced it but this address was not there either.

I still can write to this person and she will receive my emails. However I do not receive her emails anymore.
I tried to trick the system by emailing her through the same account with a second account I put with the
new system since Microsoft suppressed the links accouts. Same thing: she will receive my email but I do not receive
hers.

Can anyone help me to fix this problem.
Thanks a lot.

Hello there!

First of all, MAJOR THANK YOU'S and apologies... you've got a total IT idiot here in this post. I'm telling you, I'm really clueless.

Secondly, the reason for my post! I must have clicked on something in an email (I KNOW, I KNOW! Wrong move, right?!) that captured/hijacked/compromised my email address. For the past several days I've been getting "postmaster delivery notification-delivery has failed" bouncebacks--- going right into my Junk Mail folder. I didn't think much of it... until Verizon suspended my email account this morning for MISUSE. LITTLE OL' ME??? Misuse?? Yup. And I can tell they are FULL OF JUNK because they are trying to sell off-label Viagra and Cialis (BTW, do people really believe that these meds are the real thing? You get what you pay for, people!! A four-hour erection may be the least of your worries! Sorry... I got off topic... )

Anyway, it has probably happened like 125-150 times in the past several days. I have gone in and changed my password (it's SUPER STRONG NOW!) and my security questions, but from what I've read there is probably still something sitting on my computer that will make this happen again. If you can help, I would be so grateful, and even if you can't, thanks for trying! --- Jenn

I have Windows Live Mail on Windows 10. I have been informed by Orange that they are discontinuing their email service as from 31 May 2017. I have thinned down my contacts list, but still have 168 contacts. I have followed instructions from the net to enable me to inform all my contacts in one go that they must use my other (Googlemail) email address, which some of them already use, after 31 May. Having taken instructions from the internet and followed them through, every way I can think of, I get a error message every time. 1The instructions are easy to follow: Put my own address in 'To:'
Highlight all 168 contacts,
Click on Bcc and 'send'.
I get an error message every time, which tells me nothing. Any suggestions? Allan

Yesterday, a few of the people I have email addresses of have notified me that they received an email from me with a link to a malicious website. I have since changed my password, but they say they are still receiving emails with links in them. I run Avast Internet Security and since this has started I've run a virus scan with Avast and I've run a malware scan with Malwarebyte's Anti-Malware with nothing being found on either one of them. Please Help!

I have 1300 Outlook 2007 contacts, some without Emails, some with good Emails and doubtless some with out-of-date Emails. Is there an easy way to notify all the good Email address of my new Email address? I tried mass mailing all the A's and the error message reads..."550 (message) does not conform to RFC2822 standard." No idea what that means.

Any suggestions? And thanks as always...you guys are great!

Answer:Mass Email to contacts re: address change?

My guess is that some of the email address contain invalid characters somewhere in them or your ISP has some type of anti-spam procedure that prevents you from emailing more than a certain number of people at a time. I would start by exporting your list of contacts to an Excel file and then scroll through them looking for invalid characters or extra leading or trailing spaces.

Regards,
Rollin

How can I transfer the list of contacts from a TalkTalk email account to a hotmail.co.uk account?
I know I could do this manually but I am sure there is a much quicker way
Many thanks

Answer:Trnasferring list of contacts to new Email account

I am not familiar with the TalkTalk webmail interface, but there should be an option to export your contacts list as a csv file.
You can then import the file in your hotmail account.

My internet email contacts list has apparently been used to send out spam the other day. I'm not sure how this occured or how to prevent it from happening again. I run MaAfee and Adware quite regulary. I'm not sure if this is an infection or if someone has hackedinto my Y****O account.

I had some old addresses that are no longer valid so that they were kicked back. I am copying that belwo in case that is of use.

My fixes to remedy this is:
1) Change password
2) Delete all contacts except my work email.
3) Run Spybot and Adaware
4) Rescan computer with virus scan (had scan about 2 days prior)

Am I infected with something? I don't know

I have x'd out all of the email addresses that were shown

Thanks for helping out
Alan

G** DAM** it's happening again. My FU***** Yahoo email account is spamming my contacts AGAIN. I have run Combofix, SpyBot, AVG, HiJackThis, and Housecall to no avail. Incedentally, I cannot get all the lingering files and registry entries that AVG has been so kind as to leave behind. Now Combofix says it's still installed when in fact I use Revo uninstaller to remove it.So, what I have done is delete all of my contacts from my contacts list. I guess if anyone wants to email ME they can.Does ANYONE have any Idea on what I can do to get rid of whatever it is that keeps doing that? Also, can you advise me how to finally get rid of AVG off my computer?J.R.

Answer:My Yahoo email account is spamming my contacts

Morning J.R., sorry you're having so many ongoing issues with Yahoo. I'm not a fan myself, although my wife likes it.

Quick question: which version of AVG are you using? 9.0? 2011?

If it is 2011, there seems to be some handy tools out there to completely remove the program. I had some issues removing it from my Mother-in-law's computer when I was moving her to Avira (which we love) but I finally got rid of that pesky program.
As for the other issues, well, I'm going to have to leave it to the pros here, although to help things along, I think you should post some general info about your hardware - what you're machine is, what the O/S is, etc. More info is always better.

Good luck.

And remember, it may take a little time, but the good folks here will get you out of those weeds soon.

My Yahoo email account is spamming my contacts! Also, Google links redirect me to other sites. I have Windows XP Professional SP3 I've scanned with Housecall (full scan), Malwarebyres, SpyBot, CCleaner, AdAware, Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool and Hijackthis all to no avail... they find NOTHING. I even went to C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc and discovered the hosts file was renamed to hosts~ and another hosts file was created with "localhost 127.0.0.1" in there. So, I renamed that file and renamed the hosts~ back to hosts. I'm still having the same problem. Does ANYONE have any idea what I can do short of debug/reformatting???J.R.

A friend of mine recently started getting a lot of emails from people on her contact list saying that they look like spam. They asked her if she sent these emails and of course, she didn't. She has changed her password but the problem persists. She has run a number of different scans and that hasn't solved the problem either. Is there anything that can be done?

Answer:A friend's email address is on multiple emails to contacts

If her contact list has been hacked, it can't be undone.  If they have the contact list, changing the password will not change anything.  Sounds like she needs to lock down her phone better.  She needs to be more careful, and check all her privacy settings.  Have her create a new email and let her contacts know.  People don't realize that they are granting the world access to their personal information with these phones.  Google+, Facebook, instagram, Pinterest, etc.... they all access ALL your personal info by default, and makes it simple for others to gain access.

I was just in my hotmail account forwarding an e-mail, when I clicked the "To:" button in order to add multiple contacts. Then I noticed something unusual. Firstly, one e-mail address was listed who I had previously blocked and deleted. Secondly, under the "name" of this address was not listed the actual name of the unwanted individual, but my own name which I go by for all my e-mail accounts.

I came out of the e-mail and when to my Contacts list but the blocked/deleted address bearing (weirdly) my own name was nowhere to be found.

I'm really worried and scared now, as this person may have been stalking me online - back in January whilst online I was suddenly told that I had "logged in on another computer", when I had not, and when I logged back in and changed my password, under my Profile, all the information such as my date of birth, location, etc, had been changed to read this guy's information. I'm worried that this contact who only showed up when I was trying to forwards an e-mail and nowhere in my contact list, and for some weird reason listed as my own name, is some sort of evidence that I am still being hacked. Back when I knew this guy he did claim to know people who could hack forums, e-mail accounts, and could really mess them up.

HELP!

In the last 2 weeks a couple emails have been sent out by my Yahoo email address to my entire contact lists containing different links which are probably viruses or some other harmful info. These do seem to be coming from my computer as the messages are not showing up in my sent folder. However, I am trying to make sure it is not something on my end.

My OS is Vista home and I mostly use Firefox 3.0 for browsing. I also run AVG 1 time a week and it has picked up 2 potential trojans in the last 2 weeks.

Thanks in advance for any help!

Last week, I clicked on a pop-up disguised as a warning about an attack from Microsoft Security Essentials. The situation felt terribly familiar to what I had done last year with an infected pop up disguised to look like Microsoft Security Center. Both times I backed out without fully downloading and the last time I was for sure left with an infection.

The symptoms are different, though. At that time, the security software I was using (Windows Live One Care, I think) kept detecting & removing the infection - which would just have returned (and sometimes with some friends) by the next scan.

This time, MSE detected and removed 4 programs (they were also listed as quarantined items - which have since been removed through the MSE control panel). Since they were removed, all MSE scans come back clean. I also downloaded and ran TrendMicro House Call which came back clean as well.

These are the 4 programs that MSE found and removed:

Is this what's suppose to happen?
The main hotmail email (Microsoft Account) on my wife's 820 were no longer able to sync, so I decided to add it again via email setup and then remove the original one. Essentially resetting new then replacing by deleting the old (both are same email address. New email setup (same Microsoft Account) was able to sync properly. Problem - her contacts she had on the phone were no longer on the phone.
Other similar posts suggests WP8 is suppose to back-up contacts automatically to the Microsoft Account in the cloud but looks like it has not backed it up. Known issue or is there a setting or manual backup method in WP8.1?
Thank you

Answer:Losing contacts after main live email account was added again (Lumia 820 + WP8.1)

The backup method for contacts is through the MS account. If you used a different account you won't have the contacts unless you transfer the contacts to the new MS account.
All backup of WP is tied to the MS account. When you change accounts you lose that backup information.

Hello everyone,

I do not know what to name the topic, But I am having Massive Problems with Yahoo.com causing all of my Web-browsers to Freeze and to Crash and my computer to freeze whenever I enter any of Yahoo.com's websites or when I click to read a "News article".  Also when ever I try to enter my one Email account the same damn thing happens!! And today December 18, 2014 I could not even enter my one email account no matter what web browser I used!!!!! But My other Yahoo email account worked just fine, no problems!!!  I tried to find a contact phone number, email, or something so I could contact Yahoo about my problem, But yahoo does not list any of that information!!! At one time they used to!! Now all they list is "Self help" information and a link to a "Community" Board for help!!  I need Help NOW, Not 3 days from NOW!!!!!!

Now my question is: is there a program that I can use that will transfer or notify all of the companies, websites, etc.in my Contacts list if I delete that one email account and automatically switch them to another of my email accounts? Or Will I have to do that Manually?

Answer:Delete an email account and notify & Switch my contacts to a diff acct

You can export your contacts from yahoo into a CSV format and import it into many other e-mail providers or even another yahoo account. You can also setup your current account as a forwarder to a new e-mail so you don't miss any e-mails in the other account. But as far as notifying everyone, I would create a contact group that includes all your contacts and just send one mass e-mail (and possibly a followup e-mail a few days later just in case).

Answer:[SOLVED] Hotmail account spammed address book

I should add that the infection that happened last week was due to a pop up that I clicked on that was disguised as the MSE security software. I did click on the link, but backed out & shut down through the task manager before completely downloading. I'm afraid it was too late, though.

Nothing was changed in Hotmail to my knowledge, i.e. contact list was not deleted. I deleted the contents myself and left only a second email I use to see if more messages get sent out. So far nothing today....

I hope I'm being thorough enough, but if I could provide anything more, please let me know.

Hello,
I've got little trouble to get the second email address from my mail account.
So I've got one GMX mail account with two addresses, one for private and one business issues. The main mail address is the private one.
Now on my Lumia 930 I get the incoming mails from both, after the setup of the account on the phone. But if I want to write a mail I can't choose the address I want to sent it from. It always sends the mails from my private address.
Is there something I can that I can choose the mail address?
Thanks for the replies.

I'm setting up a new Win10 machine for a friend who wants/needs to create a new Microsoft account. Is there any benefit in creating a new Microsoft (Outlook.com) E-mail address for this purpose, versus using his existing, non-Microsoft Email address from Gmail or Yahoo?

Thanks.

Answer:Microsoft Account - Any disadvantage to using my non-MS Email address?

The only difference compared to a "real" MS email (outlook.com, live.com, hotmail.com, msn.com) is that although an MS account set up with a third party email can send mail, it cannot receive any. This means that for instance the Windows Mail app if used needs the same email set up twice; the automatic setup is done as that email address as an MS account, this account cannot receive but can send, and then it needs to be set up once more as a Gmail (Yahoo, whatever) account in order to be able to use the Mail app to get the mail.

The same online; signing in to Outlook.com the user can send mail but not receive. Checking incoming mail and such needs also in the future to be done in Google.com, Yahoo.com and so on.

That's the only difference. All other services, OneDrive and so on work as if it was an Outlook.com email address.

My laptop and my phone seem to have different email accounts.
I would like them both to be my email I use for work.  But when I bought my Surface Pro 3 they had me set it up as an outlook email address and my phone as Google email address but I use my primary email which is different.  I get my emails on
both devices to my primary email.   Since I got my new phone my pictures have not uploaded to my Surface.  I keep syncing but they don't load to my one drive.  I think it's the discrepancy with my email address?

However if I try to setup a surface that I just picked up or a windows 8 machine, it seems to get lost when I try to login to the live account. I just get a blank screen and it won't setup the email. Any ideas?

I have a new email address so I want my Microsoft sign in to be this email and not my old one. Does anyone know what to do and how to transfer existing purchases to this new email so that signing in to Windows 10 uses my new email as the administrator?

Answer:Change sign in account (new email address) ?

Hello Skumball, and welcome to Ten Forums.

If you like, you can change the primary alias for your Microsoft account to be the new email address.

Microsoft Account Primary Alias Email Address - Change - Windows 7 Help Forums

Afterwards, switch your account to a local account, then switch it back to a Microsoft account using the new email address. This will toggle your account to use the new address.

Running Win 8.1. Recent divorce. Previous login & email was under married name. Took back maiden name & created new email with new name. First tried to set up new MS account with new name & email & worked couldn't sync or transfer data/programs from old. Removed new acct in maiden name. Doesn't show under User Accts only old one does. Now I need to get rid of the old email address. Can't delete so tried to set up new email address as alias. Somehow must have stored new address because it says it is already in use. I have been working for days to change all my device names to get rid of the previous married name. Now I've run into this on this laptop. How can I remove my current email address with my new name from Microsoft so I can use it as the alias? This is just a plain stupid way to handle things. People move from jobs, etc, and have a need to change email addresses. It should be a simple process. Help!!!!!!

I have been using 2003 and 2007 Outlook Express for my emails for years. Is it possible to transfer my email contacts from 2007 to my new computer?

Thanks LeeB

I searched tutorials and found nothing

Answer:Can I transfer Email Contacts from Outlook 2007 to W-10 Default Email

Dealing with different E-Mail clients [installed] and online/Webmail has become one of the most frustrating issues of the last few years.

Outlook Express was discontinued, last came with Windows XP. Windows Vista had Mail and Windows 7 had no built-in E-Mail Client. With Outlook Express the contacts were in the Windows Address Book and the file name was some_name.wab, whatever the user set the E-Mail up as. Outlook Express did not use the 2003 and 2007 version titles, that was with Microsoft Outlook, part of Microsoft Office which used different storage techniques. Generally both types could Export contacts as .csv files which could be used in other programs or even as a spreadsheet in such a program as Excel, QuattroPro, etc. Win7 and newer have a Contacts listing in C:\Users\user-name that also can be exported.

Seting up my Windows Account on a new Windows 8.1 PC I entered an incorrect email address. Towards the end of the setup I was told to check my emails for the code needed to complete the setup process. Clearly I can't find the code because I gave an incorrect email address. So my Microsoft account is in limbo and I can't use it. The computer and Windows 8.1 work fine but I can't use my Windows Account. I've tried a number of things to sort this out without success. Please help.

I bought a new computer and accidentally entered the wrong email address when prompted to create a Microsoft Account.
I cannot change it in Windows 10, as I must first verify the original (wrong) email via a code sent to my wrong email address. Now, how can I access the verification code if I cannot access the wrong email address, which may actually belong to someone else, right?
I must change the wrong email address, but I'm not allowed to do this until I first verify that I own the wrong email address. Crazy...

I mistakenly typed in (and confirmed) an erroneous email address when configuring a laptop with Windows 8 for the first time. Realizing my mistake I tried to rename the Microsoft Account with the correct email, but Microsoft will not allow me to change the account name. So I created a Local Account with the correct email address to get around this but I cannot get onto the internet or create an email account as Microsoft requires I confirm my identity by checking an email they have sent to the erroneous email address (which doesn't exist). My first impression of Windows 8 is not a favourable one!

Answer:Stuck with erroneous email address for Microsoft Account

You can create another Microsoft Account with correct email.

Download to desktop the "PC settings" Shortcut for Windows 8 so it is easier.
Double click on the PC Settings Shortcut then click on Users, click Switch to a Microsoft Account
then click on sign up for a new email address then enter your correct email

Hope this helps !!!

I have a new ASUS notebook and it uses Windows 8. On my home pc I have Windows Vista and was able to set up multiply email accounts in Window Live Mail. (my charter, my hubby charter, 2 school google accounts and yahoo)
I was able to read mail coming thru our main email acct (my charter), if an email came thru that needed to go to my hubbys account or another account I was able to drop and drag it to the other account listed on the screen.

I have most of my emails set up on my new ASUS notebook. Is there any way to drop and drag emails from one account to another? I can drag the email and hover over the new email account, but it does not drag it.

Thanks for any help. I am new to the notebook thing and windows 8.

Is it possible to not have my email address visible on the login screen. I still want to use my Microsoft account as Windows 8.1 isn't worth the effort with just a local login. Currently the way the Microsoft login works,
every laptop user effectively gives away their name, email and (likeness, if they are photographed) every time they open the lid to anyone in the vicinity. In the age of phishing scams where people are looking for this info it seems like they are catering
to those people rather than their users.
Note- already changed my name in my Microsoft account to gobbely gook but the email issue still remains.

There were 4 user accounts on there and only last week, I changed over ISP. It runs the windows xp 2000 home edition with a service pack 2.

Since the change over, the Dell has been playing up and I have done a system restore twice whilst extracting files etc for the changeover, and just as I want to go in to get my address book, it will no longer let me go back far enough to system restore point where I have all the accounts again. How can I find the individual Outlook Express accounts?

When multiple accounts are added on Outlook 2010 and you create a new email, autocomplete in the 'to' field shows suggestions from every account. Is it possible to only show suggestions relevant to the account the email is being sent from.

For example, if I had my personal account and a customer services account, when I go to send an email from my personal account, every email address who has ever communicated with the customer services account shows which is quite risky.

Thanks, Louise

Answer:Outlook 2010 only to show address book from one email account

Have you looked in the help section of outlook. The only thing i can suggest at the moment, is click the contacts in outlook, and then the little arrow next my contacts, there you will find yor email accounts with suggested contacts and contacts, see what happens when you try that.

I know the email is associated wit Microsoft because that email receives emails from MS Forums & Answers board on topics I follow.

if I log in with my old email account it always gives  "That password is incorrect. Be sure you're using the password for your Microsoft account." and I only use a variation of one password for everything on the net so I know its right! my old email account domain no longer exists and it won't send recovery to my new saying the same error as above.

Hi there

The trouble with an Ms account is that the email address is part of the account and it displays on the logon / lock screen.

If I'm in a public place I'd rather NOT have that info shown.

Anyway to HIDE it or at least the email part.

Cheers
jimbo

Answer:Ms account - How do I HIDE email address on Logon / LOCK screen

I don't believe it's possible. Annoying security issue, yes.

There's a workaround, easy to use in fact. The workaround also shows your email but not the "real" one:

Create a dummy alias for your MS Account (tutorial at EF) at accounts page on Outlook.comSwitch your Windows user account to localBack to accounts page at Outlook.com, make your new alias as primary aliasSet a rule to move all mail coming to this dummy alias to junk or trashBack in Windows 10, reconnect MS Account, this time using your new alias email
Your Windows 10 sign-in page will still show an email address but this time it's the dummy one.

Video in this post shows the whole process: Solved Windows 10 instructional videos by Ten Forums members - Page 40 - Windows 10 Forums

Only cons I can find in this method is that although your main email is still there and working, the new alias is the default, meaning that every time you send from that MS account you must remember to change the sender email address. If not your messages will be sent using your new dummy alias.

Hi Everyone,

I have to backup the emails and contacts (email addresses primarily) from several computers. The challenge I am facing is that a mixture of email clients are on the computers that I need to backup. The clients that I am backing up are as follows;

Outlook Express
Outlook XP
Outlook 2007
Windows Mail
Windows Live Mail

I am confident that I have all of the emails backed up, however I am uncertain of where contacts (email addresses) are stored in the above.

Any help with locating the contacts files for the above email clients will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

David

Hi This is my first post here. I searched first and didn't find anything, so I hope I'm not repeating. Anyway...I just bought a Dell Inspiron because my 5-year-old Gateway crashed. I was able to save the hard drive from the old computer and have it in an enclosure and hooked to the new one through a USB. I know nothing about partitioning, so I haven't done anything other than plug the old drive in.OK, my question concerns getting my saved email messages and address books from the old drive. I have two email accounts and two different email programs: Outlook and Outlook Express. I have had to reinstall pc due to it going at a crawl!!

After installing Outlook 2002, I can not get Outlook to auto fill the email address field when I start to type an email address in it.

The address book is there and in tacked after copying the outlook.pst file back to its original location after install.

How do I get Outlook to autofill?

Also when I click the 'TO' button in the new email window, it says that there is no address book!
but when I click the address book icon in the main Outlook window there are email address there?!

Any ideas how I can get this to work correctly again.

Answer:reinstalled pc, now create email in Outlook 2002 does not auto fill email address like before

When you did the re-install, did you erase/format the hard drive before the re-install? If you did and did not save the Outlook auto fill file, then the all the auto fills you had are gone. Did you import the pst file into outlook?

Answer:Solved: wrong email spelling in auto complete email address

Delete Firefox auto-complete entries

There is also an add on for firefox that allows you to manage autocomplete

Available features include:

* matching against bookmark addresses
* matching against page titles and bookmark names
* matching anywhere in the address, not just the beginning
* changing the sorting criterion to alphabetical by address or title, most frequently visited, most recently visited, or top-level pages first
* completing the best match inline
* temporarily or permanently disabling the suggestion popup
* excluding local pages and pages containing search results
* swapping the address and title columns on the suggestion popup
* highlighting the column where a match was found
* fine-tuning the popup appearance by hiding page titles, changing the number of visible suggestions, and setting the truncation method for long addresses and page titlesClick to expand...

Hello,
I've managed to setup email forwarding for my wife's new marketing business so I get emails coming to the POP3 email account [email protected] from the email address [email protected] and also [email protected]

However, when I send an email it appears (in someone else's inbox) to come from
Joanna Rigby <[email protected]> when I would like to appear to come from
Joanna Rigby <[email protected]>

I want them to see her domain name @madeyousmile.co.uk NOT the pophost.123-reg info.

Any suggestions on how I do this please? I'm running Microsoft Outlook Office 2007.

kind regards,
Jonathan

When trying to email to a specific internal email account, my email leaves my system and
does not arrive at the destination account. The destination account also happens to be the "administrator" and the email does get to the administrator email account. Any ideas?

Answer:Outlook 2000 Email problem to specific internal email address

Will: No offense, but your post sounds like you're saying you're sending it from one account to another, but it's not being received at the other account, which is the administrator---but the administrator receives it?

Could you please re-state your question?

Hello.
I've just found a pst file with all my old email. I'd like to put them back on the server (hotmail) but before doing that I've seen that some of them were not recived (or sent) to my actual address (@hotmail.com) but to an old one (@infinito.it). So I was thinking to export them from outlook 2013 to CSV, modify that address into the new one and then import them back on outlook 2013. The problem is that when I export them to CSV, in that file they don't have the date (received or sent) and so when I get them back on outlook 2013 they miss that info.
Can anyone help me doing this? I've been told that VBA macro should be useful for this, but having a look in it I have no idea of what I sould do.
Ah, instead of outlook 2013 I can also use thunderbird (45.3.0) if it's easier with it, but then I'd have to convert that pst file.
Thanks!
