My email address is hijacked and sending messages I didn't send

Question: My email address is hijacked and sending messages I didn't send

Hello, my email address is sending email messages (usually about some pills etc) to everyone in my address book. I of course didn't send them and its anoying and a pain. I have AVG free edition and ran a scan with everything saying no virus. How do i stop this from happening. I did a google search and found this maybe called Rogue email. I can't find a free download or fix to stop this. I am using Outlook. Can you please help thanks.

Preferred Solution: My email address is hijacked and sending messages I didn't send

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi....

About two hours ago, I was browsing my email in outlook express when I got over a hundred 'undeliverable mail' messages all going to email addresses I know nothing about. It has continued to spew emails since then. I have run spybot, and spyware doctor with no hits. I ran HijackThis and am including the log as well as the email that is sent:

I would appreciate any assistance to clean this mess up.

Thanks...Dave

Welcome to Majorgeeks!

As you likely already know is that malware is a massive pest these days and does its level best to hide itself in any number of places, So just a Hijackthis log will not show all the malware that can be on your PC, the full guide of our steps below has a few other logs that show alot of the malware on your PC and where they are located,

Welcome to Major Geeks!

Please follow the instructions in the below link and attach the requested logs when you finish these instructions.

READ & RUN ME FIRST. Malware Removal Guide

If something does not run, write down the info to explain to us later but keep on going.

Do not assume that because one step does not work that they all will not.
Notes:

If you run into problems trying to run theREAD & RUN ME or any of the scans in normal boot mode. You can running steps in safe boot mode but make sure you tell us what you did later when you post logs. See the below if you do not know how to boot in safe mode:

Starting your computer in Safe mode

If you have problems downloading on the problem PC, download the tools on another PC and burn to a CD. Then copy them to the problem PC. You will have to skip getting updates if (and only if) your internet connection does not work. Yes you could use a flash drive too but flash drives are writeable and infections can spread to them.

One of my email address is being 'hijacked'
emails are sent to people in my address book providing a strange link (mostly to pills)
I have run my Norton to clean the virus and tried to clean my history and registry.
But as expected, every time I reboot my PC, the virus comes back.
I have checked your forum and found something similar but the support you provided was specific to the PC and I don't want to follow the same steps and make some ireversable damages.
Please HELP!! This is urgent! I have tried to fix this for months and got few complaints from the people receiving the emails I am not sending purposely!

Details enclosed in the email sent to tech guys support!

My computer has been sending out emails to the top 20 names on my address list. I have AOL and use AOL as my email. This has been going on since February (at least). There is no subject line and the link inside the email usually is something like "http://sites.google.com/site/lpyoksaon/ssbkmpxd" But it is a different address every time. Just the sites.google.com/ is the same every time. Two people that received emails in different months have told me that the link is a drug company trying to sell Cialis, Viagra, etc. One person said it is located in Canada. First I emailed everyone in that list and told them that I would never send them a link without some sort of explanation, Then yesterday, I finally made up 22 fake email addresses that start with aaa and that seems to have helped because today, all of the spam emails were sent to those addresses. (I also made up 22 fake ones for zzz because it used the end of my list once.) Of course, my inbox was innundated with MAILER-DAEMON non delivered emails today, but I was glad that it worked. A friend told me that I should get on this web site and someone will ask me to send them my Registry Log and tell me how to fix this. If so, that would be great. By the way, the emails that are sent show up in my Send Folder on AOL.

I am running Windows 7 and I just bought the computer in December. My old computer didn't have this problem. This is a Toshiba Satellite A505-S6980. I have AOL, IE and Firefox insta... Read more

Today on my hotmail account, I've received 3 emails saying "Mail Delivery Failed: returning message to sender". In the email it says:

"This message has been rejected because it has an apparently executable attachment "application.pif" This is a virus prevention measure. If you meant to send this file then please package it up as a zip file and resend it."

But the thing is, I never sent any emails with any attachments. I haven't sent any emails with my hotmail account in months, I only use it to receive email from people. Could this mean I have a virus on my computer? Or something else? I have Norton Antivirus 2003 which came with Norton Internet Security 2003, and my last virus scan was Friday, and it was clean. What should I do?

The other day I noticed my task bar window showing "scanning outgoing e-mail" when I hadn't sent anything. The next day I had 2 mailer daemon messages saying that the e-mails were undeliverable - to a whole list of addresses I've never seen or heard of!

How can this happen and what can I do to keep it from happening again? I've checked my server and can't find any useful info. I use Outlook Express for my e-mail with IE for my internet via Comcast.

Thanks in advance for any help/suggestions!

I am using Microsoft XP w/Outlook for email. Following is an example of the type of error messages I'm receiving by the hundreds every day, and I didn't send to these addresses:

The sender in this case is [email protected]
Hi. This is the qmail-send program at emporiki-asset.gr.
I'm afraid I wasn't able to deliver your message to the following addresses.
This is a permanent error; I've given up. Sorry it didn't work out.

<[email protected]>:
user does not exist, but will deliver to /var/vpopmail/domains/emporiki-asset.gr/srahoutis/
can not open new email file errno=2 file=/var/vpopmail/domains/emporiki-asset.gr/srahoutis/.maildir/tmp/1180520310.12517.mail,S=22642
system error
I'm not going to try again; this message has been in the queue too long.

I have run Norton 360 and it doesn't detect a virus.
What is this and how do I stop it for good???

ok, i do actually know how it is possible. if you have the ability to say what the sender's address is, you can change it to say that it is the same as the adressee. i am just freaked because i send things to myself as a reminder of stuff i gotta do. and i KNOW i didn't send this. i did not click on the link, but i did open the attached picture file, which was a gif file for buying prescription drugs. if anyone wants to actually see this, i can forward the email.

I know spammers have some pretty slick techniques but.....how do i stop this ? On my yahoo account i get a lot of emails especially lately that are FROM my address, going to either someone else or the same username at a different provider, like aol.

So, it makes it look like I sent it!!!!!! How do I stop it???? How can they send email from MY address??? And then i'm getting "mail returned" messages saying that the other address that "I" sent it to doesn't exist. So, not only are they using my address but they are wastiing internet bandwidth sending to non-existant addresses!!!!!

Spam makes me so mad. Almost mad enough to become an Activist in stopping spam. I think we should eliminate "anonymous" email services completely especially yahoo and hotmail.

So weird thing just happened. I got 8 emails in a row which were along the lines of 'mailer-daemon return address' or 'out of office' replies meaning I sent emails, but the thing is I didn't. I then went to my sent email folder and no new sent emails show up except for the ones I did send over 3 days ago. This is a gmx.com email address. I then got a new email along with those other 8 from my gmx email to my gmx email but it was listed as being sent on april 8 so it was kind of lower on the page due to read emails being ahead of it. I have absolutely no contacts saved on that account so after looking through the bounced back emails I realized it may have sent emails to everyone I sent an email to since creating the account (a year ago). I even got one on my other email address from myself which I had once sent an email to. The email message is just an url that leads to some chinese website --> url here: sizenha.com/eitw9v.php I apologize in advance if I shouldn't have pasted that url. I use bit defender total internet security 2013 so I don't think I have any malware or spyware. I haven't clicked on any odd links or anything lately so I don't know what would have caused this. I ran malware bytes and super anti spyware to be sure and super anti spyware found a bunch of cookies which it said weren't really threats but it may track some stuff I do so I got rid of it anyway. I don't think that had anything to do with it. J... Read more

I tried to run the three programs on my computer but on each one I got the message below. "Illegal operation attempted on a regisstry key that has been marked for deletion."I think this is because I had already run ComboFix. The log from that is attached.I have a Vista Ultimate desktop that has Outlook 2007. A few days ago I heard from friends who had received email from my account with just a link in the body. I had not sent the emails and they weren't in my Sent folder. A friend who is a network admin had me unintall my avg software and download the trial version of Avast to run a boot scan from. I did that and nothing showed up. Then he told me to download and run ComboFix which I did. The log is attached. Thanks!I restarted my infected computer and now the programs run. DDS is below. other two logs are attached.Again, a couple of days ago I learned that people I knew were getting emails from my email address with nothing but a web link in the body. One friend opened the link and his av software blocked it saying it was an attack page. I did not send the emails and they aren't in my Sent folder but the people getting them are all in my Contacts folder in Outlook. I am using Vista Ultimate and Outlook 2008. I am running WinXP SP2, Office 2003 with Outlook 2003. I am the only user and I run under full administrator rights. This is what happens: First part : When I send an email, sometimes it stays in the "emails to be sent" folder and keeps being sent until I delete it.   Second part: Even with the "emails to be sent" folder empty, the outlook shows that it is sending some two emails all the time, I have no idea what is it trying to send. It always shows an arreor mesage at the end. My guess is it has some information stored somewhere that there are emails waiting for being sent, but I cant find that... All help will be very much appreciated. Thank you.

I apologize if this was covered in the body of another thread, I couldn't find it based on the subject lines.

My Trend Micro complete security suite was running at all times. I did not open any suspicious email (from unrecognized sender) and avoided all forwarded email. I have no idea where this malware originated. I suspect a trojan horse of some kind. I hesitate to try free scans from other security software (like norton), because these companies are notorious for putting code onto computers that is extremely difficult to remove and can interfere with installation of a different security program.

I need to fix this fast and apologize to everyone on my contact list (whew, that's going to be a big deal, unless there's some way to send a bulk email without revealing everyone's email address without adding each contact individually and using Bcc.

Please help, I ran a deep Trend Micro scan that came up empty. I've trusted Tech Guys for years, this is the big one...

I have already changed my password and security question at gmail. I am running Microsoft's malicious software tool right now.

Over the last three days I have received approx 20 emails from isps, companies and postmasters advising I have sent emails to invalid email addresses - I but have sent them emails. The headers included in the emails look similar to the ones I have seen over the years, but they arn't me. They are using Outlook Express, but I don't!!The domain name used is my, but the prefix before the @domain-name is not - examples used include [email protected] & [email protected] name.Is this a virus working away in my pc or the next level of spam / hackers trying to gain access to my computer? I have tried two anti-virus programs and spyware programs independently of either other and both have found nothing.Any suggestions?

Answer:Email returned to sender-but I didn't send it

It is possible that one of your contacts has a virus that is sending out e-mails 'spoofed' from their address book.

Hello. I'm on a Dell XPS T600r running Windows 2000 Pro.

My problem is this: When I open IE my intended start page is being replaced with porn related sites. My Temporary Internet Files is being loaded up with porn related crap and the folder that shows Cookies is also full of porn related crap. If you delete all Temporary Internet Files and Cookies then wait just a few minutes they start coming back, even though I'm not going to these sites. It happens automatically. The browser is sitting still and the files and cookies start showing up. When I look at the "Favorites" list on the drop-down on the browser I notice that several porn links have been added as 'favorites'. Also, Outlook is attempting to send messages to "[email protected]" by itself. I'm on my computer at work so it can't hijack a modem but I've read in other posts that my computer is attempting to call some 900 number so that I get stuck with a huge telco bill. Since the messages can't be sent to "[email protected]" Outlook is saving them as 'Drafts'. The messages are being generated automatically and if I leave Outlook open they start showing up.

I've taken the advice I've read in other posts and I have downloaded and run Ad-aware, Spybot - Search and Destroy, CWShredder, HijackThis, and just for kicks, some fix for the Welchia worm. Just running Ad-aware, Spybot, and CWShredder didn't solve my problem. T... Read more

hello:

i have been trying to fix my email/outlook spam issue.  emails are going out WITH my actual email address, sending emails to people in my contacts, etc.
I also have been getting a ton of spam emails myself.

I use:

-Windows 7 Pro
-64 Bit
-Outlook 2010
-I have our own domain name email address, that is hosted by Frontier

Odd thing:  I changed my password for my email, but my outlook kept sending/receiving with the old password.
When I tried to update  the new password in outlook (which I verified by using the webmail versus outlook), it would not accept it.

Thank you for any help you can provide.

I use Mailwasher Pro and have been subscribing to Blue Frog antispam. Last week I suddenly started to receive e-mails that had not been delivered to their recipient. Non of whom I knew. One day I had 132. It looks like my e-mail address has been used as a spam address and as a result I am receiving the bounced e-mails. I know that the Blue Frog website has been attacked by the Spammers. Is there any way I can stop my address being used, without resorting to an address change, which will be very costly? Is anyone else getting the same problem?

Answer:E-Mail address hijacked for sending spam

it is likely that someone with your mail address in their address book has become infected and mails out under all addresses found. as a precaution you could run scans on your own machine but i doubt you will find anything.johnny.

Well a website that is for online dating has created a user as i believe with my email address, i have not signed up to this website. Firstly i am too young to be a member of such website under 18, and i keep getting people wanting to talk to me and sending emails to my personal address.

I have emailed the websites support twice expressing my concerns but i would like to know exactly what i could do about this but i am still unsure as i don't think i can complain to anyone or take things further.

They have failed to reply to 2 of my emails

Answer:Website has created a user with my email address (which i didn't sign up to)

Maybe someone signed you up for the site as a joke.

You could log in to the site. Look around for a way to delete your account. If you find one, delete it.

Hello,

I'm having an email problem. What I'm trying to achieve is to paste a Word 2000 document into email and have it arrive to the sender the same way it looked when I send it.

When I send a saved document through Yahoo email, it arrives at it's destination in code.

When I send a saved document through Hotmail, it isn't in code but the lines sometimes only have one word on them.

In what format can I compose/save a letter or document in so that it will show up to the sender NOT in code or messed up in format?

Thank you very much.

Answer:email sending coded messages

Since there are so many web based emails and email clients, the surest way is to make it a graphic (GIF, JPG) format.

When I got BellSouth DSL years ago I had Outlook email account set up with BellSouth as outgoing and old domain as incoming so I could keep my email address from another domain. It worked fine until a year or so ago I had to add another account just for BellSouth and that worked fine.

Within last few weeks emails from my email address (old domain) would not send. I've been through it with ATT tech several times to no avail.

It seems that ATT has trapped me out and does not want me to be able to keep my old email.

There's bound to be a way to set up my email accounts so my outgoing email from my other ISP provider will send through BellSouth without changing my very old and reliable email address.

Also, I recently have acquired my own domain name and I fear emails from that email address will suffer the same fate.

I hope this is not too long, but PLEASE HELP if you can.

Answer:Can't send email using different domain in email address BellSouth trapped me out...

If your BellSouth e-mail service is provided by Yahoo, then you probably need to go through a registration and authentication process for each e-mail address you want to send through a non BellSouth/Yahoo mail server. At least that is what I had to go through as an SBC/ATT DSL customer. They claim that they do the blocking to prevent from originating from users within their network.

I have a word document that includes a form the user must fill in. I want to create a button that will do all of the following:
1. Update all fields
2. Attach the updated word document to an email
3. Enter an address I have stored in the macro into the To field of the email.

I have one module which does the first part:
Sub CommandButton1_Click()
Dim oStory As Range
For Each oStory In ActiveDocument.StoryRanges
oStory.Fields.Update
If oStory.StoryType <> wdMainTextStory Then
While Not (oStory.NextStoryRange Is Nothing)
Set oStory = oStory.NextStoryRange
oStory.Fields.Update
Wend
End If
Next oStory
Set oStory = Nothing
End Sub

I found that if I add this to the before End Sub it attaches the updated Word document to an email:
Application.Options.SendMailAttach = True 'Or False
ActiveDocument.SendMail

However, I can't figure out how have it put a specific address into the To field of the document.

So I tried another tact. I have the email address as a hyperlink in the document, and set a bookmark at the hyperlink. Then I created a module that will go to the bookmark and open the hyperlink. However, this will not add the document as an attachment:

Sub Open_Hyperlink()
Selection.GoTo What:=wdGoToBookmark, Name:="hyperlink"
With ActiveDocument.Bookmarks
.DefaultSorting = wdSortByName
.ShowHidden = False
End With

Selection.Range.Hyperlinks(1).Follow NewWindow:=False, AddHistory:=True
End Sub

So then I found this bit of coding on the web, and tried imp... Read more

I have a email account with tiscali (now talk talk) and use outlook on my laptop this works perfectly well when in the UK however as soon as I go abroad although I can still receive emails I cant send it just sits there in my outbox. It used to work fine but suddenly started to cause problems last year, I have tried the Talk Talk helpline to no avail.
Does anyone have any idea whats going on and how to fix it

Answer:Problem sending email messages from abroad

It is a setting or security on your SMTP - outgoing mail server, possibly trying to connect to the wrong port number.
Look here click here and click on the + sign for your eMail address and check settings
If that doesn't fix it, a workaround would be to log into talk talk webmail and send from there.

Hello,

I'm asking this for a friend of mine. He's trying to find out if there is a way to send an email to everyone in his inbox (not in his contacts). He has roughly 2600 emails in his inbox and wants to clear it out, but first wants to send an email to all of them saying he's about to delete all of them and if they sent something important to resend it in a couple days. He uses Gmail if that matters. Thanks for the help.

A few days ago, throoper helped me immensely by sending me a url explaining how to redirect email.
I just changed my server to "directv" hi-speed after using nasty dial-up for years. Since I'm used to and like Outlook Express, I wanted all my email to go directly to OE; I followed the directions to the letter and now all my Directv email is going to my OE inbox. I respond and try to send, but my replies sit in my Outbox and won't send!!
Also followed AT&T's direction on site to redirect my emails to my new addy....and still they sit there. I will call AT&T to get help on that, but I would like very much to send the mails in my Outbox.
Is there something I must adjust in OE in order to do that? I've never had any trouble sending before. Hope you can help me again. In regard to all the questions I've asked the past several years, you've never failed me!!
Here are the messages I get when trying to send:
The server responded with an error. Account: 'PJ's email', Server: 'pop.gmail.com', Protocol: POP3, Server Response: '220 mx.google.com ESMTP 34sm15497201yxm.34', Port: 465, Secure(SSL): Yes, Server Error: 0x800CCC90, Error Number: 0x800CCC90

The connection to the server has failed. Account: 'PJ's email', Server: 'smtp.gmail.com', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 945, Secure(SSL): Yes, Socket Error: 10060, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E

I use OE 6 for my pop account. I created an email w/ attachments (which I have concluded is too big to send) and it hasn't sent it and won't let me delete it to redo it. Everytime I open the program up, click on outbox and try to click on the email and press delete, the program stops responding. Any suggestions on how to fix this issue?

Thanks,

Hello,
Thank you so much for your help. Recently alot of my email contacts have written to me saying that they got an email from me with no subject attached, just Re: . Some of their computers have alerted them that the email was suspicious and not to open it. Other people DID open it and there were Viagra ads or animated russian websites, etc...I've gotten alot of notifications in my spam box with the title: [email protected]....failure notice. If I click on it, it usually shows the email contacts that messages tried to be sent to and the website that was trying to be sent....usually all different.
We have ESET NOD32 Antivirus 4.0.467.0...we've run two separate scans and no virus or threats are detected.
Just this evening, about 30 emails were sent out between 6:33 and 6:34 pm.....!
I appreciated any help you can give me!
Thank you.

Sometimes a single file with a problem can "clog" the outbox. Try removing the oldest and then resend the rest.

This is not a thread about me trying to send spam mail to people. if it was there are other ways of doing so.

I have an honest dilemma on my hands.

I work for a company that makes international sales quite often.

I have been given the task of finding out a way of sending anonymous email from our offices to potential customers. But our office is in SoCal. i need these emails to be sent to the recipient as if they were coming from Mexico or Canada or some other country. How can I send email from lets say MS Outlook 2003 or even a public email account from Hotmail or Yahoo to specific potential customers that are located all around the globe without the real identity of the sender.

I know there are proxy servers, and programs like Hide My IP or whatever, but they do not work well.

I need to send email as if I were in Mexico, with a trace coming back to some part of Mexico (a specified ip address), and with the ability for the recipient to email me back a response, and that response gets forwarded back to the real email address or ip address. I know its sounds a lot or complicated, but if anyone has a solution to this problem i have, it would mean the world to me. Any and all suggestions are appreciated. Thanks.

Answer:How to Hide ip address for sending email

You can always create fake user on your domain and make it appear as if it came
from [email protected]yourdomain.com.

If you really need to hide yourdomain.com, then you're into email spamming techniques
and we will not discuss those here. The necessity of this is extremely questionable.
If your recipient is that sensitive, then someone needs -- help.

I would think that international sales would however, be conducted in the language of
the recipient and having staff that is bilingual is always a great asset

HELP.

I'm getting bounced messages and spamblocker replies (like earthlink) from emails that were sent out with my email address at my company- but I never sent!!! (we don't sell penny stocks or viagra!) The IP addresses show they were actually sent from Amsterdam, and today, from Turkey.

1. How are they sending out email from my address?
2. How do I stop them? I don't want to get our company's email addresses or servers blacklisted--AGAIN.

Is there anything we can do??

Thank you in advance for any responses.

Someone sends out emails to my contacts with my email address as if it's me doing it, and in the body of the email they are advertising there website and the products they sell, so I guess they stold my email contact and in some way sends there emails as if it's me doing it cause it comes from my email address. How do I stop this?

Not even sure if this should be here.

This AM my web-based Yahoo mail sent a spam to everyone on my contact list. I constantly see others having this happen to them but I do a daily scan with MBAM,SuperAntiSpyware and Windows Essentials and so far the computer LOOKS clean.

I have no idea about the web-based (Yahoo!) mail client, but it wold need an impetus from my computer to go sending crud about, I should think.

Asking Yahoo! about this proved slightly less frustrating that trying to thread a needle while on a vibrating bed.

Any suggestions will be gratefully received.

This is a strange happening rather than a problem.

Today as I was replying to an email from a local business house via the Reply icon, as I hit "Send" I saw the address change to "[email protected]".

I looked in the Out box and there it was with the incorrect address. So I manually changed the address back to what it should have been and re-sent it.

I use Eudora.

I immediately ran a virus check but everything was OK.

Does anyone have an explanation for this?

Thanks

Hello All

Looking for an explaination for this issue, client I support would like to send a word attachment via MS Outlook 03 but using the send to function in Word 2003 and selecting the mail recepient as attachment option, however the reciepients never get the email nor does it go into his sent folder. I have tested it and sent it to myself and have yet to receive anything. He does not get any error msgs, delivery failures etc... He can send the doc as an attachment by doing it the regular way through Outlook and it works and the msg goes to his sent folder.

Anyone come across this before?

I am helping a friend with their computer mess. The husband uses Windows Live as his email client and the wife uses direct Road Runner.

They both use the same computer. When the husband tries to send email to his wife's email acct, she never receives it. Yet he can send emails to me and I am a Road Runner email address. So I know that his Windows Live is set up correctly.

His wife's email is working fine directly through Road Runner as she can send and receive emails.

SO... Seems to me the issue has something to do with using the same computer and he never signs out of Windows Live. (I personally use Outlook as I am a business and am not familiar with Windows Live)

He never gets any kind of Undeliverable mail message or anything.

Can anyone help me here. I'm am do back over to continue cleaning up some other issues with his system. And I'm not sure where to go from here.

Thank you in advance.

In our village in Spain, we have a very dodgy wireless internet access system, run by a company called NijarNet that is very difficult to communicate with - partly a language problem and partly because their customer service is dreadful. I have 13 clients with accounts here (I'm a management agent), and I manage these for them - they are all either wifi or wimax which pick up the signal from various antennae in the area. One such client was having no problem until something called Spamcop blocked his emails. Since then, he is unable to send emails from his 02 account, although he can send from his gmail account with no problem. He can receive on both accounts. O2 says it's not their problem, but that I must talk to the provider (which I have tried to do but they deny it's their problem and can't/won't give any advice on what the problem might be). I reckon it's something fairly simple that I might be able to sort myself, maybe a setting on the router? Can you offer any advice? He's tried it on several different laptops, devices etc with no luck. Any advice would be gratefully received.

PC: HP G60 with Vista (32 bit)

I am supposed to be able to send email messages with attachments with a maximum 19 MB limit but I have been getting an error message "This message wasn't delivered because it's too large. The limit is 19 MB. This message is 25 MB." In fact the attachment capacity was 18 MB for that particular email message. I also received similar error messages for attachments on email messages that I sent with 16 and 17 MB.

The messages that did go through without any problem had atachments with 8, 10 and 11 MB.

Does anyone know of a solution to this problem. Otherwise, I will have to divide the attachments to lower the MB capacity in order for them to go through.

Thank you.

First let me say, I have followed the directions - step by step - under READ & RUN ME FIRST. I have various logs to attach to this post.

Description: I noticed this morning that my inbox (I use Microsoft Outlook to check my @bellsouth.net email) was full of bounced back emails that had been send from my account to various other addresses. Each email was sent to 5-7 recipients. It did not just send to everyone in my contacts list - it was sending to very OLD and outdated addresses that i had not used in years. Also sending to people I have not had in my contacts list in years. It did, however, send to many valid addresses of friends of mine as well. Interestingly, none of the sent emails were in my "SENT" folder on Outlook, however they DID all show up in the "SENT" folder of my mail app on my iPhone, which is linked to check my bellsouth account.

All emails were made to seem as if they had come from me. They had no subject line and the text of the emails consisted of many different URL's (each email sent out had a different URL link in the text). Then, they were signed with my name and some weird saying or philosophy as a signature. Here are a couple of examples of the emails that were sent out:

Answer:hijacked email acct is sending out links!

UPDATE: At 8:30 AM today, the same thing happened with my email account again. One thing I just noticed, though. On the three sample emails I copied in my original post above, I noticed that the actual link in each email was condensed. Here is an example of the full size string of characters:

http://starbucks-gifts.com/wp-includes/js/imgareaselect/polimorph.php?qauibya

Another thing I noticed was that in every one of the email links that were sent out, the word "polimorph.php" was in every one. When I googled "polimorph" this morning, it came back as some kind of spell that is used in the online game Wizard 101. My son plays Wizard 101 all the time on my computer. Is that significant, or coincidental?

Thank you.

I have gotten the following alert a few times recently from ZoneAlarm. "Ypager.exe (Yahoo messenger) is attempting to send email messages...do I wish to allow this." I clicked no each time to block because I was not sending any emails from Yahoo or elsewhere. The IP's that were shown on the alerts were 66.163.168.107 and 216.155.193.185 (port 25). I was a bit confused as to why my instant messenger program would be attempting to send emails. It is my understanding (which is quite basic) that email and instant messages are similar...yet different.

I have Win98se (all updates in place), AVG, ZoneAlarm w/Visual Zone, Spybot, Ad Aware, HiJack This, and also use an online antivirus...everything checks out to be clean on my system. In searching for info on this..the only thing I have found so far is a suggestion to get rid of yauto.dll due to a buffer overflow security risk. Am I just not understanding something...or is it strange?

Answer:Ypager.exe attempting to send email messages????

It may be an auto update feature but I would have it blocked for good in any event and do updates manually.

I have a small business and have accumulated a mailing list of I have a small business and have accumulated a mailing list of customers (not spam). I am using SBC Yahoo for my emails. I am trying to send each one of them an email without doing a Cc (I don't want them to see each other's email addresses). If I send it out Bcc, they all receive the email (and don't see each other's addresses) but the "To: " line of the email is not customized. That is - all of the recipients see the same "To: " line. I would like to have their own email address be in the "To: " line. But it seems like the only way I can do this, is to send them each the same email, one at a time. Is there a quicker way to do this so that they will each see their own email address in the "To: " line, but will not be able to see any other the other recipients email addresses? Thanks for your help. Terry

Why is sending form-data (via a typical html form) to an email address insecure, or less secure; and conversely, why is sending form-data online (to a database held on the host server) more secure?
Is this simply down to SSL, or is it more than this? Also, is it possible to send form-data to an email address securely?

The content of the forms is not encrypted and as such can be "seen" by anyone who is "listening" to transmissions from your webserver.

Is this simply down to SSL, or is it more than this?Click to expand...

SSL can help solve this problem so long as your form is under the SSL, like:https://blah.com/form.asp

Also, is it possible to send form-data to an email address securely?Click to expand...

If you are sending to an address that you want to "Hide" so to speak, you can call the email from within the code (server side) and no one will be the wiser. However, if your form allows you to put in a sender address AND a reciever address, then unless you forum is SSL , it's contents can be "seen" as described above.

Answer:email address sending blank links to all my c

That someone who is sending the blank links to your contacts is actually an account "phisher". Those blank links steal the account information from the people fool-worthy enough to open them up..... The phisher then logs onto those accounts and trys to look for personal data and other tid-bits..... What you need to do is report the phishing to the Yahoo administrators and theyll clear it up for you....

I generally work from home, and emails addressed to me at my employer's domain are redirected to my personal email address at my ISP's domain. What I want to do is send mail through my ISP, but I want it to appear as though it came from my employer's domain.

However, when I enter "[email protected]_domain.com" in the From field, the recipient gets an email which says it comes from "[email protected]_ISPs_domain.com on behalf of [email protected]_domain.com".

Can I do anything to change this?

I have Outlook 2007 and two email addresses: my primary pop3 account and a second, forwarding, address which I ask most of my correspondents to use.

I would like to be able to use Outlook to "send from" the second address, and to have that address appear as the "sent from" address when anyone receives a mail from me.

At present anyone can use the second address and it will arrive in my inbox.

It's just the "sent from" value which is proving difficult to achieve.

I have tried setting up a new account in account settings but I can't do so with the second address, no matter which password I use.

Can anyone help?

Thanks in advance.

There is a program at work where I need to send an SMS to an email address. It responds with a code. This apparently works on Android and iOS. There doensn't appear to be any place to set an email gateway in the SMS settings.
Is there a syntax in the SMS address that would allow me to send the message (like 36345:[email protected]) ?Any work aorund?

Answer:How can you send an SMS to an email address?

Okay, I'm going to tell you. This is possible, but must be supported by your Wireless Carrier. It is not dependent on what type of phone or phone OS you have. It took some researching to learn this for you, which is why it took me a while.
Simply enter the email address as the recipient, instead of a phone number. That's all there is to it. Not all carriers support it, but I just tested it with my AT&T account and it works fine. Most major carriers support this.
When the email is received on the other end, it will have an email address that your wireless carrier has assigned to your mobile number. If you send it to your own email, you'll discover that, and be able to give that email to others in order to text you as well.
First, I recommend testing it by sending yourself an email from your phone's SMS. Good luck!

324224234F432432A

im pretty sure this is a virus...
i scanned his computer with an AV and malware bytes anti malware and awd cleaner
and found nothing.

so how can i work out what the problem is and how can i solve it

wasnt sure if this belonged here or if it should be in security.

thanks and regards

Answer:email address sending emails with .docm attachments

i have moved to the general security forum, we can always move back to virus malware
As he is not using an email client it maybe that

a) someone has logged into his account and using it to send out emails
b) someone is using his email address, to send span emails

is he getting any undelivered or failed to deliver emails ?
Have you changed the password to the account ?

you have run adwarcleaner a few times until the log is clear?
Malwarebytes
and you upto date AV
is that correct ?

Hi guys, I need some help with an issue in Outlook 2002I'm working for a photography studio doing some graphic design and stuff. We're about to send out our first email newsletter from our database program "StudioPlus".The issue is:When I'm sending the emails through Outlook 2002 i get a pop up box for every single email I'm trying to send (over 1000) I get a notice saying:"A program is trying to automatically send e-mail on your behalf. Do you want to allow this?If this is unexpected, it may be a virus and you should choose "No"."Below there's a box for "Yes" and "No"The problem is there is no "Yes to all", "Always allow StudioPlus to send email" option or anything like that. There is even a time delay of 5 seconds!! on every dialog box before I can press the "Yes" button. If any of you could give me some tips on this, I'd greatly appreciate it!Thanks,Anders

Answer:Outlook 2002: External program sending email (item.send command)

Have a look here http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290499/EN-US/ it seems you have to give your external program permission to use the outlook send/receive command via an SDK kit.

With the new W10 email client, either with my main account or a second Outlook account, it always picks a random alias for the 'From' address when creating a new email. In the web mail settings I have each account set to send from its primary address and W8 PCs Windows mail clients have an option to choose the used email address.
Where is the setting in W10 and how do I get this under control? This can't be an issue for most as the forums would be full of it. What am I messing up here? The email app is currently useless to me, which is a shame.
Can you advise?

A problem has occured in my Outlook Express after a reformat. Whenever I go into the Address Book to send an email and click on 'Send Mail' I get this message: Address Book - Main Identity The Address Book could not identify an e-mail client that it could invoke. The Address Book uses the simple MAPI protocol to send email. If your e-mail client provides an opton to let it handle simple MAPI calls, then turn on this option from the e-mail client and try again. How do I turn on this option. Please help.

Answer:Can't send email from my address book in OE

Go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\WAB\WAB4Is there a DWORD named UseOutlook and is its value set to 1?If so, you have Address Book configured to share contacts with Outlook, evenif you don't use it (can happen with the install of Office). Change thevalue to 0 (zero).

Staff have their own email address ([email protected]) and 'send as' permissions for another one ([email protected]).

Is it possible to set a default send as address so the employees don't accidentally email from their own account when i'd prefer them to use [email protected] by default? I see when you're replying to an existing email it automatically uses the correct email address but I worry about brand new emails that are created.

When in the UK, I stay with friends & relations, most of whom have BT as an ISP. The one thing (as far as I know) that I can't do on their broadband with my laptop is send emails in the usual way, and I gather it's because I don't have a BT address.
I can send them via webmail (mail2web to be exact), so it's no big deal in the general scheme of things, but it's fiddly. I can't reply directly to downloaded messages, have to type/paste in the recipient's address, etc, which feels disproportionately annoying. Does anyone know a neater workaround?
In case it makes any difference it's a Packard Bell Easynote BU45, Vista home Premium SP2, Thunderbird (up-to-date most of the time); no difference with Windows Mail. And mobile broadband wouldn't be worth the expense (especially with no 3G coverage at home).

Answer:Any way to send email from non-BT address via a BT acoount?

Try with a free Hotmail address.

I have a video on my windows phone that I would like to forward to an email address. Is there an app for that? Or is there a simple way to do this?
thanks in advance. Jay

Answer:is there an app to send a video to an email address?

Yes, there is a way but that depends on what OS version your Windows Phone is running.
In Windows 10 Mobile, the default Outlook Mail is capable of sending videos through email - just make sure that the video size doesn't exceed 25MB.

Hi there

any decent programmers out there who can generate a script for me that does the following :

1) Get my IP address
2) send an email say every 30 mins (or user settable) to a FIXED email address - or even a text to a mobile phone.

The reason I want this is that services like no-Ip are going "PAY FOR" or you get some silly restrictions on the free stuff like re-register every few days or the IP address detection program runs every minute which is a nonsense --with Fibre connections to your ISP the IP address doesn't change much (if at all) while you are connected to the Internet - but only at boot.

That way I can access my home computer without needing to get a commercial domain etc -- on the LOCAL LAN the server has a fixed IP address so port forwarding isn't a problem for using things like RDP.

Please don't suggest TEAMVIEWER -- don't want or need it. My upload speed on ISP is perfectly good enough for me to be independent of this type of service.

Even if you run say an apache (LAMP / WAMP) server you will get access to it easily enough via its IP address of you know it.

Surprised some of the experienced coders out there haven't done this type of thing. Should be easy enough to issue a command to get your external IP address (Router gives you that without even needing Internet access from the HOST) , push the output say to a notepad file and then send email with the notepad attachment.

I'm not a coder --I know what to do --but not how... Read more

Answer:Script to get IP address and send email every so often

Give me some time and I'll look into this today. I need to do some things first today.. like waking up.

I'll try it out in both VB.Net and AutoIt. I need to install .Net back on my PC and that will take an hour or so,.
