Is this *secure* <form... login code?

Question: Is this *secure* <form... login code?

Hello All,
Nowadays seems so hard to 'know' if encryption takes place or not (ie, I'm hopelessly dated regards tamal... )

If name+password sent securely... how might it be being done

I queried the site's admin but as usual the reply was so cryptic as to be not understandable!
So, thought the best thing to do was ask the pros

(Admin: please note that I am not attempting to hack - this is a broker's site where I trade, so... wanna know my paltry sums are safe)

Following code snippet is on a sites home page which is NOT SSL connection just http protocol.
Code:

Preferred Solution: Is this *secure* <form... login code?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

My client used their computer on 11/9 and upon returning to office 3 days later (computer had been left on, I think), the ususal username login took them to a brand new desktop with no files in the user folders. It's as if a new user had been created without their knowledge.

I am remotely accessing their machine to solve the issue and am stumped. Trying to do research and as much solving as possible remotely before actually going to client's home to fix things.

I see 3 folders under Users folder, BEARMAIN-PC is the network name for their computer, Bear is the username:
TEMP.BEARMAIN-PC modified date 11/12/15bear.BEARMAIN-PC modified date 10/26/15bear modified date 10/13/15

It appears that upon windows login to the only defined user called "Bear" on login screen, I am using the TEMP.client-PC folder of user files.

"bear.BEARMAIN-PC" has the most recently worked on files, with most recent edit date of 11/9/15, and the
"bear" folders have dates of 10/26/15.

I have no idea what happened here in clients absence (left town on 10th), the only thing that might've been running is Carbonite backups to a locally attached external drive, Dropbox, and my remote access program. In effect, I have a duplicate of everything on hard drive filling it up to all but 5GB, though the "bear.BEARMAIN-PC" is a larger size and more current file dates so I'll assume that's the one I want to keep.

This temp login does not hav... Read more

I run my own business, where my customers pay by standing order.I am creating a web site for it, and want to have a page where customers can setup the standing order mandate. They will enter their account details etc in a form, which will then appear on a page for them to print and sign. The thing Im not sure about is how I can make the form secure, obviously I dont want to ask them to enter their details into an unsecure form and thus put them at risk.Any ideas?

Running Vista 64 and looking for a form fill / password software pkg. that is secure and functions well. I tried RoboForm, but it's a bit confounding for my taste. Any other programs I should look at?
Thanks

Answer:Form Fill Software ? Secure?

You could always try using google toolbar. It has an autofill feature built in that is simple and seems to work well.

That plus the google toolbar is very useful for other things like popup blocker, search bar, and online bookmarks

Hi not sure if this is in the right section so feel free to move it to the most suitable forum .

http://www.download.com/RoboForm/3003-2092_4-10502671.html?tag=tab_rev

Been using this free program for several months now , just trying out the latest version so I can only comment on the last build .
Its a pretty neat piece of kit and has certainly made life a lot easier , I hate typing in passwords and filling in forms . Surfing the net has speeded up aswell , one click and I'm into sites and signed in . Security seems pretty good and has been upgraded on the latest build .
I found it easy to set up and alter details so most folk should find it a breeze .I just love the icon with the sunglasses
Anyone else tried it ?

Answer:Roboform . Secure form filler.

Nope, not for me ... I use Firefox & Google's Toolbar "auto-complete" and both are Free.

You'll have to tell us what "bits" are disabled after 30 days if you don't buy the full program.

IE will do a resonable job too with it's own "auto-complete" ... though I would strongly suggest people use Firefox.
Let us know how you get on with RoboForm.

Hi, I was wondering if anyone knew of any PHP e-mail forms or even HTML ones which were secure. When I say secure I mean a form which prevents spam bots from sending you spam via the form or e-mail address.I did use a form a while back and it worked just fine however now I am beginning to receive spam e-mails via this form, hence the need for a new one. Thanks in advanceAidan L

Thanks, I will have a look at popping that in and see what comes of it.

I thought this might be a server side problem but it only appears to happen with IE v6.x i.e. can POST from Mozilla and netscape. I looked to see if maybe some of the patches were causing this and found Q832894 could cause this problem so downloaded the fix (Q831167) but it hasn't solved the problem. Anyone got any other ideas?

The patched I've got installed are Q867801, Q823353, Q837009, Q831167, Q832894, Q822925, Q330994, SP1

Hi!Does anyone have any tips or suggestions on how to create a log-on box which is linked to a database record of users to log them into the site and then view the secured page?Any help would be most welcomed!PS: Im using FrontPage 2002 as my Web Design program and have already established the database link and a form where users can submit data. I now need to secure that page...

Answer:Any tips on how to create a login form?

Hi LiveWireIt would help if you had told us which server side language you are using i.e. Clasic ASP, ASP.Net, C#, PHP, Cold Fusion to help us to give you an answer specific to your scenario. The basic principle is as follows :-<form method="post" action="receiver.asp"><script language="javascript">function validate(){//Validation code goes here.}</script><input type="text" name="txtUsername"/><input type="text" name="txtPassword"/><input type="button" value="click" onclick="validate();"></form>receiver.aspDim UsernameDim PasswordDim oADOCmdDim oADOConnUsername = Request.Form("txtUsername")Password = Request.Form("txtPassword")Set oADOCmd = Server.CreateObject("ADODB.Command")Set oADOConn = Server.CreateObject("ADODB.Connection")Add code here to compare the values entered by the user with those within your database table. This could either be done using output parameters or recordsets although recordsets are a bit "old hat" these days.

I would like to create a page with the Asp coding inside include a database connection to connect between registration form , login and bookin system ... do u guyz out there have any step by step that i can read and learn , simple plain english ?? thankz a lot ...

Answer:ASP for registration form , login , and booking

What is your preferred web authoring software, do you have a Windows IIS web host available who can provide your ASP support and an Access or MS SQL database, and how much of this are you prepared to learn or do you want a step by step walk through ?User registration and log in is relatively easy. A booking system though ?To book what, where, when and how ?Will payments be taken ?If so have you considered payment gateway providors ?There's a lot more to your questions than appears obvious.More detail is required before something close to a solution can be suggested.T

My son is at college and is running windows xp. He has started having the following problems: He can't access any secure websites, banking etc. He gets a page that says this page cannot be displayed. When he tried to run windows update it said it had encountered an error and it would not run. He has Norton Antivirus 2003, I think,( could be 2002) and he said when it runs live update everything comes up with red marks and maybe one thing might update. All of these problems just started happening. He had a problem with incredifind, but we got that removed. Do you know what could be causing this problem? I want to install and run adaware and spybot, but I am not where he is. Any one have some info?

Yesterday I had a problem with that resulted in weird script popup things - that's been fixed. But I also started having a problem with secure logins.

Normal ones work fine, but when I and my brother try to log into Hotmail, Yahoo Mail (secure only; standard works fine), Google Groups and my brother's ESPN fantasy football, it doesn't work. In particular, it seems these logins require a redirect between login and getting into the account - that redirect doesn't work and often just stops in the middle of the login process. I actually found a way around the Google Groups problem (just go back to main page, hit refresh and I'm in) but these other methods don't have that luxury it seems.

(Yahoo even tells me my browser won't let me redirect and gives me another link to continue on - I didn't use that; I just got out and used the standard login instead.)

What could be causing this problem? Did some IE default get knocked out of whack (possibly because of my other problem?) perhaps?

well I have a few login pages I have made that get info from SQL queries and the newest program I am writing has me interested in security and I am familiar with SQL injection. I havnt gone into writing anything or messing or even searching on how to protect from this my guess right now is search a string for SQL commands and remove them before I make the query but if anyone else has any experience with this and any advice I was just wondering what you think and how you protect your stuff.

Hi, I have a windows machine here that is having trouble connecting to secure protocols. I have tested https in IE and FF as well as trying to connect with putty to my ssh server. Both failed every time.

The system is running Windows Vista SP1. It is a HP DV7-1135nr Notebook. I have tried mail.yahoo.com, gmail.com, Microsoft's secure websites, and a few others that require going through a https connection.

I've tried disabling the windows firewall and that failed. I've tried connecting to two separate networks, that was a no go. I have been googling around for solutions including making sure that the ssl 2.0 and ssl 3.0 are ticked in IE, I have verified that the sure protocols are enabled in firefox and they are still unable to connect. I've even temperarly opened port 443 in the windows firewall but didn't succeed.

I'm sure there are other options but I've pretty much ruled out the possibility of a problem on the routers, modems, and isps. Tonight, I'll try connecting via a wire to see if the wireless is at fault. I can successfully connect to them through a web proxy or by using a VM but that requires too much overhead in order to connect.

This is my mom's laptop and she needs it to pay bills and such. Currently she has to resort to other machines to get the job done. VMs are a whole nother world to her. Please help me, thanks.

If my laptop was seized by authorities for example, while the system was still on the login screen, what would they be able to do? The "Forgotten password" option on the login screen, could this be hacked? Or is there a way to access my data without even logging in? I know the safest way would be to shut down the computer everytime, so that the bitlocker passworded is needed, but its quite inconvenient.

I use Internet explorer to browse the net. I can access 99% of websites fine.

When i go to a website that i have to log into (eg. banks or hotmail) once i have entered my username and password, i get a page cannot be displayed sign.

Does anyone know why this has started occuring? I changed IE settings back to default and still the same

PLease help!!!

Answer:Cant login to secure sites

The first thing I would check is your 128-bit cipher strength in Internet Explorer. To do that, click on help, about Internet Explorer (while it is open) and see if it says cipher strength 128-bit. It it says 0-bit or anything other than 128 that's what's causing your problem. Try that and post back; also what OS are you using and what version of IE?

If that't the problem the fix depends on your OS and version of IE.

A close photgrapher friend of ours has asked me a question which has me stumped (not difficult ;-) He has finished his photgraphic training and began advertising in the paper, business has been good for him and he now wishes to have a website designed so his customers can have access to their photos online if they wish. He would like to issue his customers with a login name and password which is unique to them and allows only them to see the photos. At present he has his photos published online with a local photography studio acting as host and now wishes to branch out into his own space. He has an eye for design and insists on doing it himself, despite my advice to the contrary, how would he achieve what he wants to?I can help him with the design aspect but as far as logins and such are concerned, I'm clueless.Any thoughts?

Answer:secure login by customers

I would suggest looking into php and MySQL, this would allow you to access pages with password protection that refer to the MySQL database. What you could do is have someone design the php and MySQL side of it that could be incorporated into a design that you friend does.

Hello!

I have two forms in my database that auto increment a record number (primary key). The format is a 2 digit year, followed by a 4 digit number. i.e. 12-0001. I have seen posts about how to get this to work, and this is the code I use:

Dim strMax As String
strMax = DMax("[NCIR#]", "New Fields")
Me!HiddenCtl = Format(Date, "yy") & "-" & Format(Right(strMax, 4) + 1, "0000")

This works for one form, but when I try to use it (referenceing different tables and such, of course) in another form, the two digit year will not show up. i.e. "-3001" is all that shows up. Slightly different format, but here's the code:

Dim strMax As String
strMax = DMax("[LIR #]", "tbl_LIR")
Me!HiddenCtl2 = Format(Date, "yy") & "-3" & Format(Right(strMax, 3) + 1, "000")

Ideas?

I am currently looking to gather more information on a company I believe may be attempting to scam my volunteer organization. I don't want to do anything illegal, but I want to find out more contact information about this group.

http://www.hmartinfoundation.com/pages/8/index.htm

Is the web form I'm looking at. How do I find the source code for the web form so I can see where the information is sent and stored? Is that illegal?

Answer:Web form source code

1) Download Wireshark

2) Start a capture on your NIC

3) Fill-out the form and click send on the website

4) Look at the tcp packets to determine where it is being sent.

I'll go ahead and save you the trouble. It goes to their web provider who is Network Solutions.

Good Morning
I'm trying to build a nice data entry form in Excel. Has 5 required fields, the first 2 of which should default to name and todays date - which is at the top of the spreadsheet. I have 5 buttons: Next, Previous, Add, Delete, Close. I'm working on the code for those. But in the meantime, I'm hung up on the following problem:

Some code that I have written keeps taking Name out of the spreadsheet cell A1. I can understand how that can happen when I run the form's code. But now when the form is closed, and I try to type the name back into A1, it will not stay. When I hit enter, it just disappears, not even in the formula bar. I've checked the formatting and nothing is odd there. If I insert a new row 1, the old row (now 2) works, and the new row 1 still has disappearing text. So something in my code is telling it to blank out cell A1. I don't understand how that can happen if I don't even run the code?

The following is all the code behind the form. The only other code in the project is a button click on sheet one. The only code directly referring to Cell A1, is at the very bottom with the A1 reference bolded. Thanks for your help.

Answer:Excel Code for a form

I have tried recreating the problem that you describe but with no success.
What version of Excel are you using?
Can you post the file? It would save others having to recreate the form.

I think I found a bug in your code.

In cmdAdd_Click and UserForm_Activate I think that the following line:
CurrentRow = 1
needs to be changed to
CurrentRow = 5
given your comments in the code.

Is there any other information that you can give?

For the past two days I have been unable to login at secure sites (https://).
I have two other computers running off my router and they are experiencing no difficulties.
I have tried using the following browsers with no luck: IE8, FireFox 3.0.6, Opera 9.63, Google Chrome 1.0.154.48, and K-Meleon 1.5.2.
Depending on the browser the error is displayed as "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage," "web page not available," "network timeout," etc.
The problem seemed to occur just after I updated from IE7 to IE8 but I'm not certain about that.
My Thunderbird 2.0.0.19 email client is able to access secured email sites such as Hotmail.
My MS Money Plus cannot login at login.live.com
My anti-virus is AVG Anti-virus Free Edition and with it I have done two complete scans of my computer with nothing adverse found.
I am using Windows Firewall and have tried logging in with the firewall disabled.

My office requires a user name and password to access the wifi. Once the network is selected, the login screen would automatically come up. Until a few days ago my Nokia 830 did this without issue. Now the phone shows connected, but I can't access the internet. I've tried using in airplane mode, emptying temporary internet files (not sure why), "forgetting the network", and trying to gain access through IE, even entering the IP address. My laptop connects fine (also Windows 8.1).
I'd be grateful for any advice to fix this issue. Thanks

Answer:Why won't my Secure Login Validation page come up?

Windows Phone has a feature called Wi-Fi Sense, which tries to automate wifi login webpages. I'm wondering if that may be your issue. Try going into Settings > Wifi. Tap the Wi-Fi Sense button and uncheck the two checkboxes on this pages. See if that solves your issue.

Hi,

My problem is that when i try to log into facebook,paypal,gmail,youtube,twitter,minecraft,..the works it continues loding then it says The connection has timed out
Example for youtube login:

The server at accounts.google.com is taking too long to respond.

The site could be temporarily unavailable or too busy. Try again in a few
moments.
If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer's network
connection.
If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure
that Firefox is permitted to access the Web.

and i have tried all the above no success.

Answer:Cant access Secure login pages

Check your firewall and see that it allows access to port 443. That's the port number for https sites.

so my problem is windows login is so easy to crack a toddler can do it, everyone in the house can get my password in just a few minutes when im not around, and snoop on my computer when im at work. and im getting really tired of it. all you have to do is pop in a cd boot up the computer wait and in a few minutes it will tell you all of the users and passwords on the computer.
so is there a 3rd party program that will either replace windows login or add a second login screen or something, is there anything i can do?

Answer:can you replace windows login with a more secure one?

So why would someone (Parents?) carry a CD around to boot into your computer?

Just a plea from a new member who is wondering:

I have a school laptop (I am at a boarding school), and the ICT support put lots of applications / programs on the computer prior to me buying it - they in essence set it up so that us uneducated ICT people will be able to use it hassle free.

However.

There is a problem, SECURE LOGON seems to be locked - that is to say, I cannot access it!

I want to turn it off to have more freedom on my computer such as customized logon screens, but I cant as the tick box for secure logon is grey and I cannot click on it (inaccessible).

I am assuming that this has something to do with my laptop setup before I got it: but I would really appreciate ANY help with this!

I am open to perhaps more risky methods of fixing it:

One post I got on an old forum was that using regedit would work?

Anyway, please do help if you can!

Thanks so much guys, even if you just read this post.

Answer:Windows XP Secure Login is locked. Please help!

When you sign in, you should see three lines 1) Username 2) Password and 3) Log on to:. Does that 3rd line say "(This Computer)"?

If it does not say "This Computer" then your comptuer is part of a domain and receives security instructions from the domain controller. The only way for you to change the secure sign in would be to remove the comptuer from the domain. Doing so would limit your access to school computer resources (I would asssume).

If it DOES say "This Computer" then the account you are signing in with is a local account and does not have the required permissions to make the change you are requesting. You would need to sign in as a local administrator to change the secure signin settings.

I would like some help with some VBA code for my form. Know I could do in the expression builder, but it is extremely tedious.
This is what I need, have 2 fields, 20' and 40', in these fields they are populated with numbers 1-20, then the calculations are whatever is entered times the 20 and 40. For example: a 2 by 20, would be 2 * 20 = 40, or 3 * 40 = 120, etc. Then these two fields (20' and 40') are added together and put into the field TEU.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks!

Please help a new VBA beginner. I have created a call tracker worksheet that is divided into 5 equal parts on 1 worksheet. One part for each day of week. The form I started will open and place todays date in 1 of the 5 sections if it is new date. If todays date already exists it will use that section. I need help configuring the Start and End controls on the form to place time value of hh mm ss in the cells. The Start alternates every other cell starting in column A4 and ending in column U4. Then it must drop down 2 rows and start A6 to U6 again. The same with the End time alternates every other cell which starts in the B4 column and ending in the V4 column and then dropping down 2 rows to start B6 to V6 again. It is probably easier to see what I mean by the sample I have attached.
Any help would be appreciated.

Answer:Help with code for a better clear form button

HiYour second button doesn't work because it is a Flash button and it's quite complicated to get Flash/swf files embedded in web pages to communicate with HTML aspects of the page.My recommendation would be to create an image of the button that you want to use (eg. jpg or gif) and then use the first lot of code. If you are using Dreamweaver it is relatively straightforward to use an image as a button in a form.Hope that helps :)

I want them to be able to something like this..

Name: <name field>
Email: <name field>
Submit

But I want that submit to just automatically send it to my email, without having them get re-directed to their default mailing serivce.
Then if it's possible, for them to get re-directed to a Thank You page.

Something like... they click submit, it emails me the contents of the fields, then re-directs them to the thank you page.

I cannot for the life of me figure this one out.. The server on the network does not control the internet - all clients run to a switch which runs to a T1.

I am having problems accessing secure sites. Doesn't matter which client machine I use, here is the problem..

When I login to a particular site, it seems like it accepts my login. Then once I advance from the login screen I have other links I can click on to continue. When I click a link, I am taken back to that same login screen. If I try this 5 times or so, I may be able to navigate to where I need to go.

What is the issue? If I try to login from anywhere else, I have no problems..

I have tried Firefox and Explorer and both have the same issues. I have added the site to a trusted site, and all security levels are correct.

Any ideas (PLEASE HELP)?

Hi,

I have a database to be used by people completely new to access. So I made the access window disappear, and add 3 buttons: add record, save record, and delete record.

But I found that when I open the database (which show only the main form), all three buttons only work once. For example when I add new record, then I save. And I cannot add another new record, I pushed the button but it doesn't respond. So I close the form (which brings back the access window) and reopen the form, and I can add another one.

Does anyone know how to fix this? Lots of thanks.

I wish to block a secure url site through my router. Have wrecked my brain trying various combos. Any Ideas about blockage of Https (secure) url. Thanks for any info. Forget the host files my gambling family member has deleted it from his computer and password protected it so I am left with only the router block. ThanksTeabag

Answer:Router will not block secure gambling site login URL

Normally the way you block all access to a web site is via ports or ip. Since https can't be used by name it need to be blocked by port or ip address or type or a layer 7+ firewall rule.Blocking all https ports would be port 443. The url is not being viewed by the router in https so you need to block the IP address. He actually could get past that too if he is smart enough. You;d then need to get a more advanced firewall that is a layer 7+ to block tor's and such.

Open IE and click Help, About Internet Explorer and look at the Cipher Strength. It should be 128 bit. If the Cipher Strength is anything less then 128-bit, download and install the Internet Explorer High Encryption Pack. In the same window can you report back with the full IE version number, and the update version list

Open IE, go to Tools, Internet Options, Advanced and scroll to bottom of list. The SSL and TLS options (all versions) should be checked.

Uncheck the box for Enable Third Party Browser Extensions in the Advanced Section (all other settings in Advanced Section are set to Default). Click Apply and close and open IE.

Configure Security settings for the Trusted sites zone in IE: IE, Tools, Internet Options, Security tab, select Trusted sites, Default Level. Sites, enter the address (URL) of the site in the Add this Web site to the zone: box, Add, OK, Apply.

Clear the Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) slate and AutoComplete history: IE, Tools, Internet Options, Content tab. Under Certificates, click Clear SSL State. Click OK when you receive the message that the SSL cache was successfully cleared. Under Personal information, click AutoComplete. Under Clear AutoComplete history, click Clear Forms. Click OK when you are prompted to confirm the operation.

Verify that the Date and Time Settings on Your Computer Are Correct: Because SSL certificates have an expiry date, if the date on your computer isn't correct, it may prevent you from connecting to secure sites.

My PC Desktop is a Dell and a few years old. I have scanned and cleaned all viruses recently.

For the past several weeks I had been unable to click into main pages of secure sites such as: Google Adwords page, Twitter.com, linkedin.com facebook.com

A tech guy came to the house and fixed it (somewhow) and now I can get into these main pages of secure sites. Unfortunately, although he is very knowledgeable, he is too busy to remember what he did and it woul dcost too much to bring him back in to fix it). He suggests I pay for a complete "Restore" of my system and I am considering this option, but find it too costly for our limited budget.

The current problem is that although I am now let into these sites, I am suddenly unable to type in user name and password into secure sites such as: linkedin.com, twitter.com, facebook.com, Google adwords, etc.

I hit the keys to enter my text, but field remains blan --as if the keyboard is "frozen" please advise.

Important to note that I can get into these sites and log in properley from my wireless computer in the next room.

Please advise.

I've never understood this and never will...but how in the world is administrators having the option to enable a system policy to require users to press ctrl+alt+del before logging in making the system more secure??? It doesn't make it harder for hackers to brute force an account, that's what the lockout policy is for, and last I checked the only people that measure does keep out is people who have trouble using a keyboard (which most certainly excludes people who are looking to cause trouble on the computer) so why in the world was that ever implemented and for that matter, kept in the OSes all the way from NT to 2000 to XP???

Hi,

I'm working on some source code, and my a** will be grass if a hacker or someone obtains it. The PC could be offline, but often I need to find coding solutions online, so I would need to copy & paste such code text to the secure offline PC. I'm stumped how to achieve that in a hack proof manner except with a thumb drive. That is, use the online PC to find the code, copy text to thumb drive, move drive offline PC, but that sounds like a big pain.

Another option is to use software that runs two simultaneous OS's that allows text to be copied between them, but how hack proof is that? Maybe encrypting the secure PC drive?

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated,
Paul

Edit: Ah ha, is this the solution, a unidirectional network via some hardware? I think the data line needs to be controlled by hardware to be as secure as possible.

If anyone could post or send me a PM recommending any hardware, then I'll greatly appreciate.

Regards,
Paul

Answer:How to secure source code while keeping Internet

hmm; taking the issues from the top:

1) you need to ensure that code on your PC never leaves its.

2) if it does, you are exposed ( I assume from your employer )

3) you want to copy paste code from the Internet into 'your code' safely
I'll start with (3). Code from the Internet may expose you to copyright infringement and thus your employer could be sued - -
I've seen this happen personally and it is ugly.
You lose your job, your friends lose jobs, and the employer can actually go bankrupt.

Ok, Cut a long story short I bought a new network card because my internet is playing up and I wanted to eliminate all possibilities so I can ring my ISP and tell then whats what.

Well i've installed the network card and in device manager its giving me following info.

Quote:

This device cannot find enough free resources that it can use. (Code 12)

If you want to use this device, you will need to disable one of the other devices on this system.

I would normally goto the Bios check it out there etc.. Thing is I have an Asus M5a97 Motherboard which uses Uefi bios and I must admit, I dont like it. I canot find the network card or even the PCi slots in the bios.

Could anyone please help me with this?

Thanks

Answer:Network Card cannot secure enough resources. Code 12

It wouldn't show the PCI ethernet card. It only shows onboard devices. Other than drives.

That means that it is using the same I/O port by a device.

Try a different PCI slot, looks like you have 2.

I've just run into a problem with Microsoft Access (2010) that I've never seen before. I was copying and renaming a form and the rename failed. I now have an Access class that is identified as a form in VBA but doesn't show anywhere in the Navigation Pane.

The form name was supposed to be "frmEnterPortfolioID" and should have created a class called "Form_frmEnterPortfolioID". Instead, it created just the bare name "frmEnterPortfolioID".

I can't save the project, remove the module (the Remove option is grayed out). I've tried closing without saving and forcing a decompile, but the orphaned module still appears. I get constant error messages that say "The form name '' is misspelled or refers to a form that doesn't exist." I've tried creating a form with the same name and creating a module to go with it but the operation fails. I cannot compile the project because of the "form name misspelled" errors.

I can see the class in VBA explorer but can't delete it. It seems like that would solve the problem if I could.

Any suggestions?

Greetings. I've been looking for a way to create a search form that works as similarly to Filter by Form as possible with as little effort as possible. My database has 37 fields in its master table. All of these fields are represented on a form for adding new records, and any one or combination thereof may be required as criteria. When I searched here, I found a message similar to what I want to do on the Access forums at this site, but they were from 2008. I'm told by folks that responding/replying to such old posts is frowned on at best. So I have copied the code that was included in these old posts in this post. I haven't tried it yet because I have a question regarding fields where people need to be able to select multiple values instead of just typing in one value in order to search.

First the code from the old posts (Name attached to the first, the second one just said "Guest"):

From a post by "Steve":

Well, YOU CAN in fact do what you wanted. I have come up with
something akin to the Filter By Form feature of Access that requires
far less pain than that awful Microsoft example qbf2k.mdb, and as an
alternative to Allen's excellent search form:

1. Open the form you want the filter on (e.g. frmCustomers)
2. Create a button called cmdFind, set to OpenForm frmCustomersSearch
(to be created)
3. Create another button called cmdApplyFilter, set to Enabled.....No
(optional)
4. Click Save As and save a copy of the form, call i... Read more

Microsoft Helps Developers Write More Secure Code
The past 15 years have seen the motive behind security threats shift from a desire for infamy to, increasingly, a desire to steal. Today?s attackers are no longer script-kiddies looking for kicks. They?re sophisticated criminals after money, not "one-upmanship" over professional software engineers. As a result, attackers will exploit any vulnerability in order to infiltrate a network, no matter where in the software stack they find it. So application developers are increasingly finding their code being put to the test.

F-Secure has patched a remote code execution vulnerability that affected several of its security products and exposed users to drive-by download attacks.

The buffer overflow vulnerability was discovered by security consultant Anil Aphale, aka 41.w4r10r, and is located in the F-Secure Gadget Resource Handler ActiveX Control (fsresh.dll).

According to vulnerability management vendor Secunia, which rates this vulnerability as highly critical, the flaw is caused by a boundary error in the handling of the "initialize()" method.

The vulnerability can be exploited by tricking victims into visiting a specially-crafted web page using Internet Explorer.

F-Secure Anti-Virus 2010 and 2011, F-Secure Internet Security 2010 and 2011, as well as products based on F-Secure Protection Service for Consumers version 9 and F-Secure Protection Service for Business - Workstation security version 9 are affected by this flaw.Click to expand...

Hello everyone,

I am using Windows 10 (Build 10586.3). When I try to login with pin code, it takes long time then it didn't login. If I change the to settings ==> Lock Screen ==> and enable "show windows background picture on the sin-in screen" it works! I tried the following solution (which is posted in many websites) to get it fixed:
---
Setting ==> Account ==> Siagn-In Options
Push "I forgot Pin" ==> sign-in as requested, when requested to create new PIN, PRESS CANCEL
Then open File Explorer Navigate to: C:\Windows\ServiceProfiles\LocalService\AppData\Local\Microsoft\NGC
must be logged in as an Administrator - Delete everything within that folder
Go to Settings-> Accounts->Sign-in Options
Click Add a PIN again and set your PIN
---

However, it works but when I restart the issue comes back agin. Any solution will be appreciated.

Hey,
I have the PIN set up already but that's only for when I lock the PC,
is there a way where I have to enter my PIN to access the computer from boot up.

Answer:Login with PIN code?

Hello Partians,

You should be able to enter your PIN at any sign in screen. If you don't have the option by default, then you should be able to click/tap on the Sign in options link like below to select to sign in with your PIN instead.

I recently bought a laptop with Windows 8 on it. When installing and opening it suggested I put in a simple 4 digit code to simplify logging in.
This I did but as I am the only user of the laptop I find now is an unnecessary step for me.
I would like to remove this step. I`ve been to the Settings area and can change the code but not remove it.
Is this possible and is so can someone suggest how?

Answer:Deleting the 4 Code Login

Hello Remist, and welcome to Eight Forums.

If you mean a PIN number, then you could use step 7 in the tutorial below to remove it to only have your password left.

Yesterday, I got a problem with a key being phantom pressed, which is fixed. This leads into my problem.

The phantom presses made my PIN code invalid because it incorrectly entered it too many times, and now I can't login with a PIN. Is there any way to re-enable the PIN code?

EDIT: Screenshot:

Answer:Unable to reset PIN code for login,

Never mind. I've managed to change my PIN in the full Windows 10.

I went to the settings to change my pin, and clicked "Forgot my PIN", put in my password, and successfully changed my PIN.

Hello All! I have created a database that uses a login form that directs people to specific forms based on priviledges. However, I would like to provide a form that allows users to change their passwords (preferably with a confirm password box). Also, I have one user defined as Administrator, with a special form. I would like to create a special form for the Administrator to be able to add/delete/edit users and their security levels.

I found similar threads, but none that answered my specific questions- relative to my current setup.

Thoughts?

Hi,

I have a Windows XP Pro SP2 (Dell Optiplex 160L computer), after successfully installing SP3, I cannot login in normal mode as an error displays:

"A problem is preventing Windows from accurately checking the license of this computer. Error code: 0x80070002"

I already followed the fix from Microsoft support website to no avail...

I think it happened after my computer got infected with a certain spyware from untrusted site.

I did not try Repair Windows using XP SP2 CD, though as it takes much time...
I just removed SP3 and went back to error-free SP2...

Any other solutions pls? It will be greatly appreciated...

Has anyone else noticed this:
If you use two factor authentication on your gmail login, with the setting to have the code sent by sms text, did you see that in the last few days the codes have switched from the form "Your Google verification code is XXXXXX" to "G-xxxxxx is your Google verification code"?
Has this happened to others or just me?
The screen at which you enter your code has also changed, as before it appears after you have input your password and before you get to your inbox, it now looks a little "fancier" in style and the box already has "G-" filled into it, just waiting for you to type the numbers.
Moderators: could you please change the title so it is spelt correctly, I didn't notice the error in my spelling of factor until I had already hit the button to start this thread, sorry. As far as I know a normal user cannot edit the titles of threads they have started. Thanks.

Answer:Need HDD primary login code for Acer laptop

There is no generic code. If there was such a code and you could obtain it by simply asking on a forum, what would be the point? The security value would be virtually nil.You need to contact Acer and be prepared to prove ownership.

Hi,

A friend is worried about her laptop, and access to hotmail and security in general.

She opened up her hotmail login page and was faced with a page telling her that her account had been compromised and she should enter a code to prevent her account being shut down. She entered the code and immediately received a phone call which was an automated voice telling her to enter her e-mail address and password. At this point she became suspicious and ended the call.

She called me over and I had a look at the system unusually for a standalone laptop it was running Sophos endpoint security. It had 4 things in quarantine 3 of which looked like infections. I cleansed the infections (See log later), and as the system had Malwarebytes installed as well I downloaded and ran rkill (See log later), updated Malwarebytes and did a full scan. Malwarebytes came up with a clean, but I noticed that the Windows firewall was disabled. I enabled the firewall and restarted the system. The firewall was still up. things seemed to be working OK but she was telling me that her Hotmail page looked different. To be fair when I looked at it, it did look different to what I normally see, so I brought over a netbook and plugged it into her network and went to the same page. It appeared different on the netbook, so I can only assume that Hotmail has had a recent makeover.
Looking at the rkill log I noticed that the hosts file had some notable URLs in it some looking particularly inappropriate... Read more

Hi All,

Noob first-time poster I'm afraid!

I'm new to Access 2007 (but have used 2003 & 2000 reasonably extensively).

I'm building an App and have created all the necessary tables, as well as creating the relationships in the Database Tools area (which I know are correct - I'm a SQL Server DBA in my day job)!

Anyway, it's an almost text book example of an employers and employees database; one employer having many employees (employerID is the foreign key on the employee table).

I have created an employer form (using the wizard) which is fine, but then when I add a button to open the employee form (selecting 'Open the form and find specific records', matching employerID on the Employer table with EmployerID on the Employee table) it doesnt work. Instead, I get a popup box asking me for the EmployerID! Even if I manually enter the correct employerID when the popup box appears it actually displays all records, so I'm sure that the problem is more fundamental (and therefore, probably my fault)!

I'm hoping that I've just overlooked something REALLY stupid, but would apprecaite any suggestions!

Cheers,
Ian.

Answer:Access 2007 Form Button Wizard - Form does not open with the correct records

I have seen this kind of problem with Access 2007 VBA code which does not work when it dod in 2000-2003.
It can be a Syntax problem which you may be able to get around, if not you can get around the problem bby using a Criteria in the Query that supplies the Employee Form.
Although I would have thought it would be better design wise to have the Employees as a Subform or Tabbed Subform on your Employer Mainform.
I do not have Access 2007, only 2003 so I can't help with the VBA, but you could post the code anyway.

Did you use a Wizard to create the Employee Form, if so check the Record Source SQL it may be preventing your EmployerID from working.

I sent to look at my Sent Items tonight and to my surprise I saw another email apparently sent yesterday that I definitely didn't send.

I was astonished to find this as I have just upgraded to Vista in the last 2 days and have sent minimal emails.

The subject is "Form posted from Microsoft Internet Explorer." & is sent to a Hotmail account. The attachment is a POSTDATA.ATT. When I look at this file in txt format it has info such as one of my email addresses, my website & description - as if I had filled out a web form & pressed Submit.

Now, thinking about it, shouldn't IE let you know that it is about to send data?

One strange thing is that the email is dated yesterday evening in the Sent list, but when I open the email to view it, it will always have the current date & time - seemingly from the Windows clock.

I am thinking that either

1) this is due to a bug in the new IE & yesterday I visited a website which submitted data via email without my knowledge or

2) this email is an old email that I Imported from backed up email (PST format) from a form I ACTUALLY sent that Internet Mail has redated - maybe something went

Sorry for the long post but I'm just wary, hope it makes sense! I was liking Windows Vista so far!

Answer:Sent Items: Form posted from Microsoft Internet Explorer. - I didnt submit any form!

I have moved this to vista forum as I believe it is more likely to be a vista live mail issue

Hi all

I have a simple Access (2003) db which has a single form view with a subform. The main form is a record based upon a physical case file the subform only details actions past and future, a sort of event log.

I also have a continuous form which displays all upcoming actions sorted by date on all cases for a particular user so they can see just how busy they are likely to be for a particular period. What I would like to do is have an on click() property for the detail of the continuous form so that it opens the main form filtered by the record in the continuous form that was clicked. User can then update or add new events for that case before closing form and returning to the continuous form

Hope this makes sense

Answer:MS access open single form filtered by selected record in continuous form

coasterman, welcome to the Forum.
It makes perfect sense.
If you add a Command Button to the Continuous Form and after selecting the mainform select the "Open the Form and find specific data to display". This will give you the code that you need to add to your On Click or On Double Click property or of course leave the button and use that.

Hi all. I do have another post going but do not want to cram so many questions in one post. (Hope that this is an acceptable practice )Anyway, my Sony desktop crashed the other day. I had a new Hard Drive installed and recovery disks were used. PC is good to go. Trying to tweek it back to the way I am used to having it.QUESTION:I had a form filler program called ROBOFORM on this PC before it crashed. I had MANY years of passwords and stuff saved there. When I brought this PC to the Geek Squad at Best Buy the other day to see if the PC could be repaired, I was told the hard drive went. They were, however, able to make a disk with my ROBOFORM passwords. I can not get the disc to open the list of passwords. It asks me where I want to open the and give me a list of choices. (Paint, notepad, adobe etc.) None of them will run/open the files so I can see them. This was a program that I paid for. How can I make the disc start to fill my forms again when I am at certain sites? (Gee, hope I am making sense)I just realized I never downloaded the ROBOFORM program onto this pc.  Does that have anything to do with the disc not opening??If I go and download ROBOFORM, how does it know who I am. How will it know about the disc full of passwords? How do they recognize each other?HELP PLEASE..........My Passwords are VERY important to me.Thanks!!

Yes. I know the website but what do I do? Will they know my info or do I need to pay again. I am lost.(Sorry)Dee
