Question: Help please! -Forbidden access-

Hello, I used to visit this site always and I never had this problem until today. When I typed in the URL, the page came up blank with the writing that said: "Forbidden, you don't have permission to access/ on this server." is it possible this is only a temporary thing?
If you can please help me, I'd greatly appreciate it!! Thank you.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Wow. I've caught something good. I cannot access any web based email program (even ones I don't use). Also, recently downloaded yahoo messenger 8.0 after having the problem, and now it won't let me log on. But wait, there's more!

I've noticed my Norton firewall settings were changed. It no longer comes on, and I cannot access it because it says I am not logged in and am not the administrator. Kind of boggled me, so I fired up my computer in safe mode and noticed my user account, a buddy's user account I set up a while ago which has been dormant for a while and now a new administrator account. I cannot uninstall norton firewall.

Also, another problem is that I'm running avast anti-virus, which I had set to come on automatically when I booted up and to check for new updates. Anyway, now it doesn't come up automaticallly. I've checked for stuff with avast with nothing found, removed some adware with Ad-aware and now I'm off work again, about to check with spybot.

Does anybody have any ideas of what I may have caught and a good way to deal with it? Dealing with it besides chunking my old PC and getting another? Thanks, Kenneth.

Answer:no access to email/forbidden to access firewall/new administrator account made (?)

Welcome to Majorgeeks!

There are a few new viruses around that will attempt to disable all protection software of anykind. You really need to work thru the below so we can do a complete cleaning on your PC.

Welcome to Majorgeeks!

Please follow our standard cleaning procedures which are necessary for us to provide you support. Also there are steps included for installing, running, and posting HijackThis logs as attachments.
Run ALL the steps in this Sticky thread READ & RUN ME FIRST Before Asking for Support
Make sure you check version numbers and get all updates.
Very Important: Make sure you tell us the results from running the tutorial...was anything found? Were you unable to complete any of the scans?...Were you unable to download any of the tools?...Did you do the on-line scans as suggested? etc.

After doing ALL of the above you still have a problem make sure you have booted to normal mode and run the steps in the below link to properly use HijackThis and attach a log:
Downloading, Installing, and Running HijackThis

Make sure you also rename HijackThis.exe as suggested in the procedures. Use analyse.exe for the new name. This is very important due to some new infections going around.

When you return to make your next post, make sure you attach the following logs and that you have run these scans in the following order too:
CounterSpy - ONLY IF you were not able to run Windows Defender
Bitdefender - from step 6

Hi. I've now installed d-link air plus extreme GDWL-G520 and I've just successfully managed to delete the derbiz.com virus, using and installing all the info from your 'read and run me first page'. (i couldn't connect to the internet, so i burnt the info onto a disc and uploaded it).

i can now connect to the internet (ie i can get on msn messenger and update windows). However, when i try to open interent explorer, i get the following message:

Forbidden
You were denied access because:
Access denied by access control list.

Please help!

thanks

Answer:Forbidden: Access Denied

I don't even think it has something to do with the newly installed d-link, i think you got to check your provider?, your control list? and your ie itself maybe you have accidentally change some of the settings regarding your ie.

Good day and thank you for reviewing this post.
I have been dealing with a computer that had multiple viruses ..... including the TDSS. I have successfully removed TDSS and others from machines using a cocktail of Vipre, MWB, Avast boot scan, and Combofix. I have probably done 10 of these in the past 2 months with no side effects.
Recently I have experiences 2 machines that refuse to access MS update site after full removal. I have "verified" my complete removal by running MWB and Vipre in safe mode and getting no hits.
I have tried Dial-a-fix, and I have followed the instuctions as MS for this 403 Forbidden error to no avail.
All else seems to work well ... web sites, email, programs, etc. The only thing I cannot seem to do is MS updates ... I can even update MWB and Avast ... but not MS updates.
Does anyone out there have any experience with this or suggestions as to what I should do to regain my ability to do updates?
Thank you very much for your time and advice.

If so how do I adjust it and if not what is the reason for the message.

The above message has appeared recently on my ecafe, (French made) netbook. I have no idea why this should be there but have managed to access the internet from my history list or by typing in the website. The home screen, which is giving this message, would normally show the ecafe home page (now forbidden) I have copied and pasted the information below in the hope someone can advise me on what I can do to rectify this. On reflection, the only thing that I have done recently, which might have caused this, was to plug in an external usb CD/DVD drive to load printer software. This drive had worked successfully on the netbook before, but on this occasion it switched the screen off. I thought the power cable might be at fault although the cable works fine on my other laptop.Access forbidden! You don't have permission to access the requested directory. Been trying for a long time to log on to a Forum that I had used and it always gives me this
Forbidden

You don't have permission to access / on this server.
Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.
The forum is ApneaBoard.com any help would be appreciated

Answer:404 Forbidden when trying to access forum

The forum looks OK to me (as a guest) and I can get as far as the 'register' and 'login' pages too. It may be something corrupted in your browser's cache or its cookies. One quick check for that is to try the site in a private browsing window (so you won't have any existing cached pages or cookies). On all browsers except Chrome you can open one with Ctrl-Shift-P (on Chrome that is for 'Print'). If it works in private browsing then clear your browsers cache and the cookies for the site.

The error you're getting is generated by the website's server. It has nothing to do with your computer. It has to be solved by those who maintain the website.

So, there is nothing to worry about.

A friend has recently gone broadband with Tiscali. When he goes on-line he does indeed access the internet but he cannot load any web pages. He can use the connection to download updates in cases where pages are not displayed (such as updating Windows, AVG, and anti-spy ware). He is not on a home network. On accessing the Internet, it goes on line with Tiscali broadband at 100Bps, the on-line icon pops into the Notification area but he is confronted with a page saying:-403 Forbidden You were denied access because: Access denied by access control list.I have checked all his settings and they are correct. Tiscali has done the same. Tiscali at first said that there was a problem with its network but Tiscali seems to have forgotten this in our latest communications. He doe not have separate user accounts in XP. He does not go through a proxy and all security settings are set at medium strengthI tried unsuccessfully accessing pages with the XP firewall off, and also very briefly with the AVG anti-virus turned off. Line rental is paid to Tiscali though).I switched him back to a dial-up connection temporarily and could then access any pages. This seems to indicate that Internet Explorer is not the culprit. Don't ever remember seeing that before when not being able to access a website.

Answer:What's Forbidden 403?

Dear Holly G.

I'm by no means an expert, but from what I can work out it's a spat between two servers. One isn't letting you 'jump' to the other one where the website is.

Only way around it I've ever found, assuming you're certain the website still exists, is to go to a different website first, THEN try going to the website you want FROM that website. Hopefully you'll be starting from a site that's either on the same server, or who's server ISN'T arguing with the server with the website on it you want!

So basically you're just trying approaching the website you want from different directions until you find one that works! There might well be better solutions coming your way in which case I'll learn too, but so far that's the only way around the problem I've found.

Dunno if I'm allowed to say this, but if the website's in another country, it might be because you're in the wrong region. So you'll have to use a proxy server to fool the other site into thinking you're in the right region! I'm not gonna put more about that because I've a feeling it's a grey area here...

Yours respectfully

Question: 403 Forbidden

Why when I try to sign into Addic7ed.com do I get an apache 2 server warning and a Forbidden 403 error message?

Answer:403 Forbidden

Hi,The "HTTP 403 Forbidden error" is caused by limited access to a web domain or directory. Administrators can limit access to a web domain's directory by removing the anonymous user or requiring a password to view the content of the location. To remove or fix the error requires added permissions on the Windows host machine using the Internet Information Services (IIS) console. Once permissions are set, browsers to the domain will be able to access and read files normally again.1.) Click the Windows "Start" button and select "Settings" from the menu, click "Control Panel."2.) Click on "Performance and Maintanace", and then click on "Administrative Tools".3.) In this list of consoles, double-click the "Internet Information Services" icon. This opens the IIS settings console.3.) Right-click the directory from which web browsers are receiving the 403 error. Click the "Properties" entry in the menu.4.) Click the "Directory Security" tab in the Properties window. Click the first button that is labeled "Edit" in the "Anonymous Access" section. In this window, check the box that says "Anonymous Access." Click "OK" to return to the Properties window.5.) Click the "Directory" tab in the Properties window. Ensure that no other check boxes except "Read" are checked in the "Permissions" section. This allows users to read and browse website pages. Click the "OK" button.6.) Verify the changes by opening your web browser and entering the website domain in the address bar.Thank You :)

Question: 403 Forbidden

All of a sudden a week ago I became unable to access the sports website bleacherreport.com. Whenever I attempt to access it, I get a 403 Forbidden. Request forbidden by administrative rules. This is happening on all of my computers on my network. I even tried accessing it on my phone, first using my 3g. I was able to connect. Then I turned on Wi-Fi, connected to my network and tried and was unable to connect, receiving the same message. So I guess the problem is with my router? So far this is the only website.Thank you in advance.-MichaelEdit: Moved topic from Vista to the more appropriate forum. ~ Animal

To use it, go to the Add/Remove Programs Control Panel; Scroll and click to highlight 'Microsoft Internet Explorer 5/6.x' in the Install/Uninstall window; Then click on the Add/Remove button; Select 'Repair' the current installation of Internet Explorer radio button; Click on OK. I've done a virus scan and a malware byte scan. It found a few things that are unrelated but it doesn't fit this problem

I can't go to google mail, or google maps on firefox, as I get this:

http://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb...s+untrusted#w_certificates-and-identification

"This Connection is Untrusted" error message appears on firefox,

and in Chrome, on another web site, I get 403 forbidden.

First I thought it's because I delete a few things in my certificate as I went to a web site that a page seems to be hijacked. But I only delete it on my firefox. I can still go to that web site (just the main page not some of the pages), but Chrome and IE8 said 403 Forbidden.

Should I do a Restore Point? Or what is causing all these? Please help

Hi,
a German member (living in Germany) of our military discussion forum can't follow up World War 2 video links (Youtube etc) which we post, because the message comes up "Forbidden content".
All our other members around the world can see the vids perfectly (Battles of Stalingrad, Arnhem, Normandy etc), but the German government have blocked all German citizens from being able to see vids relating to WW2!
Is there any way round this Big Brother censorship, so that our German pal will be able to see them?

Answer:'Forbidden content'

It may have something to do with some certain German laws.See an example here: http://odem.org/informationsfreiheit/en/He should call his ISP and ask about the issue.

Question: Forbidden website

Well, it is not really a forbidden website. About six months back I had accessed RafaelWolf.com - Technical blog of things I'm working on or things I've done in the past. and read his technical blogs. I had even referenced it in one of my threads in another forum.

For the last one or two months however, I have not been able to access the website and I get the following "Forbidden" message.

Google however shows a web page from this site which was cached as recently as 10 Jan 2011 - which means the website still exists and accessible.

I tried to access the page from my HTPC too but still forbidden. Tried Firefox - no luck.

Is there anything that I can do to access the site?

Maybe you included in that post a link that is not allowed. Repost but without typing a hyperlink. Antihacker 13 is hosted on major geeks. If that is the program you are having problems with, just describe the problems with any error messages.

Question: HTTP 403 forbidden

im running vista 64 and i keep getting this http 403 forbidden message when i go to download something. I tryed useing registry repair wizard 2009 tofix this but im still having this problem, if anyone knows how to fix this it would be greatly appreciated.

Answer:HTTP 403 forbidden

Do you mean it happens when you try to download one thing or try to download anything?

If it is one thing than you can't because you are not authorized to access it. You can't get around that. It is the website's security.

Hello, I am a student at Penn State University and I tried to access my email today through the university, and for the first time ever I got a forbidden error saying that I was unable to log in. It said:
Forbidden

You don't have permission to access /webmail/index.cgi on this server.
Apache/1.3.42 Server at webmail.psu.edu Port 443

I am normally able to fix computer problems by myself, however, I was unable to determine the problem with this. I tried multiple browsers on multiple computers and even used different networks (and smartphones) to login but each time received the same message. Other people's account and email are still working, so I was worried and was just curious if someone could please help me. Thank you so much.

Answer:403 Forbidden Port 443

Something is up with your account. Contact university support.

I cannot log-in to my Verizon FIOS email because it says that scripts are currently forbidden "Scripts Currently Forbidden| :45| :0" even though I have Javascript enabled.

Answer:Scripts currently forbidden

Check your security software and browser settings/addons to see if anything is blocking scripts.

Hello,

I am a new member and for some time now, I've been experiencing the Error 403 Forbidden on a website named www.TheGarageGazette.com

My operating system is Mac 10.6.8, Macbook Pro and I use the latest version of Google Chrome.

I have cleared my cache both ways via the terminal and the other method throught the library and even my browser history, but no luck either way.

I have some IT knowledge, but at this point, I don't know what to do anymore.

Thank you very much for any and all help.

Trying to access a website belonging to a known ski club, I get a message saying "403 Forbidden. You are not allowed to access this page. Possble problems"

I am using WIndows 7 with Windows Security and the security level is set at medium.

Is there a workaround to designate a safe website without lowering security to dangerous levels?

The 403 forbidden message on the website is a response generated by the web server saying that you do not have permission to view this page, whether it be because of your IP address or because you haven't logged into the site, it may be because of something else but this is these are the most common causes.

It is NOT to do with your PC's firewall etc.

Read more about error 403 at HTTP Error 403 Forbidden Explained, I believe the important bit is at the bottom.

If by an odd chance it is not this which is causing the problem then I will be happy to help in diagnosing what is the problem and then trying to fix it.

I have been trying to access a domain and this is what shows up..

Is my IP blocked? or is it my ISP that's doing the blocking?

Answer:a 403 Forbidden error

It wouldn't be your ISP, what's most likely happening is the domain you're trying to access is a 'members only' area. e.g. you have to get yourself permission to get in. That is usually done via VPN, or something as simple as allowing specific IP addresses access.

Question: Forbidden script

I am having a strange problem with internet site usedbooksearch.co.uk. The home page loads OK but when I try to input details in search box I get a message which says---forbidden--usedbooksearch.co.uk is not allowed to use this script. As I use this site quite frequently the address is stored in memory and inputing "us" fills the whole address but using this method causes the problem above---BUT if I input the same address using the vertical history memory(via blue square at right of address box) the home page appears and allows me to search normally!! Very confusing.Has anyone got an explanation and/or solution?John

Answer:Forbidden script

Works fine on mine, Solution could be to delete it from your favourites, then type in the address manually (or Google it) then try adding to favourites again.
