Question: You don't have permission to access http://www.wateroz.com/ on this server

I am unable to click into the following site because of the following msg:
You don't have permission to access http://www.wateroz.com/ on this server...how can I fix this?

Preferred Solution: You don't have permission to access http://www.wateroz.com/ on this server

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: You don't have permission to access http://www.wateroz.com/ on this server

Hi Rich,

I receive the same message when I go to the website in VirtualBox. I used to get this error when I set incorrect permissions on my index file with CHMOD. Perhaps the website is being upgraded. This page is particularly odd since it actually loads the domain, yet still gives the error.

I would give it a few days and see if it's up again.

On Windows7 Pro,  trying to run IIS.  The way I am used to execute is  on the browser "localhost".  I used to have the code in the directory  C:\inetpub\wwwroot.   Even before I copy,  I am hoping to see
the image IIS welcome page.  Once it is successful, want to copy the code as that was the way I used to do in Window XP.    However I am getting the following message.  I have administrator access to the machine and gave full permissions
to the folder  'C:\inetpub\wwwroot'.  Still the same message.
Error message 401.3: You do not have permission to view this directory or page using the credentials you supplied (access denied due to Access Control Lists). Ask the Web server's administrator to give you access to 'C:\inetpub\wwwroot'.

Can someone help me to address this issue.  Thanks a lot in advance.

Agh!
I keep getting this error everytime I try to get onto a certain site:

Forbidden

You don't have permission to access / on this server.

And I am not sure why. I can access the site when I am on a different network or through a proxy, but not from my home network. Is is possible that I was blocked from this site or something? Is there a way to get around this (other than a proxy)?

Answer:You don't have permission to access / on this server.

Can you tell us the site or give us a link to it so we can see if others get the same error.

Cheers!

Clear the Cookies, etc for whatever web browser you are using. If using any third party security software, make sure that it is not blocking that website. Basic stuff that you need to go and check to make sure that it is not one of those two items causing it.

Dear all:
This question is about giving right permission for users to access a folder, which contains a MS Access file database. In this case, without using MS Access to grant Read/Write rights, I can use Server OS to control user permissions of Read/Write.

However, it has happened a few times that suddenly some of us who have Administrator rights were only able to read the data but not able to alter; in other words, our permission rights have changed from Administrator to limited users. (Admin has both read and write, limited users only have read only).

I checked on the Server end, the permissions (for accessing that folder) are given correctly (assigned within Active Directory).

I was trying to figure out how it happened, and suddenly, I was able to view the database as Admin again.

There seems to be a glitch with my network across MS platform or something... sometimes either I cannot view the computers/shared folders on network, or sometimes I cannot access certain directories with right permissions.

Gladly this does not happen often (like once a month). But still, I would like to fix it. If anyone knows anything about it, please feel free to share your knowledge -)

Thank you~~

I was trying to download the latest version of UnrealTournament 2004 for my computer and you just get it from the universal site online. Only problem is I can not get there, due to this message, Forbidden:You don't have permission to access /index.php on this server. I have Mozilla Firefox, do you think it's that? Could Windows Vista do that to me? Should I try Internet Explorer? Any suggestions and/or solutions are greatly appreciated.
Thanks,

Hi,

I have a VMware linux install serving http. The host machine is Win8.1. I've set VM port forwarding so that I can access the machine from the host with it's IP (192.168.16.131:80)

I have a laptop on the same lan over wifi - I would have expected to be able access the machine using IP of the VM. There's no access. I've tried disabling windows firewall on both machines but this has no effect.

Any ideas if there are extra steps I need to take?

Hello there,

I use steam. So basically what's happening is that sometimes, randomly I get this error message because of which I can't connect to steamcommunity.com at all. This can be solved by disconnecting my dialup cable wired internet and reconnecting it.
But the problem is, it stays as long as 15 minutes and then the same error occurs again. It keeps on occurring the entire day and so on and it's really a drag to keep reconnecting my net every 15 minutes.
So, any solution ?
Thanks in advance.

An Online Armor pop up is asking for permission for HTTP.sys to run just after I log in to windows (Windows\system32\Drivers\HTTP.sys) - is this common to happen? Since installing and upgrading I have never had OA pop up to ask if I will allow it permission before. How can I tell if the file is genuine? Im sure its likely to be safe, but random pop ups from windows protocols that usually run by default, not usually needing permission, seems odd, especially when I have not recently updated the system. OA hasnt detected it before either. Perhaps its the latest OA thats detecting it, unlike any previous versions before. thanks for any info if anyone has any ideas as to why this is happening :)

A Web Server for Chrome, serves web pages from a local folder over the network, using HTTP. Runs offline.
Web Server for Chrome is an open source (MIT) HTTP server for Chrome.

It runs anywhere that you have Chrome installed, so you can take it anywhere. It even works on ARM Chromebooks. It now has the option to listen on the local network, so other computers can access your files. Additionally, it can try and get an internet address.

Many people use this to do basic web development on a Chromebook. It is also handy for sharing files over a local network between computers, or even on the internet.

Once you install it, navigate to http://127.0.0.1:8887

Have a server at http://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:8000 and want http://myname.mydomain.com:8000

Basically, I have a DVR system with a local IP address of 192.168.1.175 serving http web access on port 8000. So, locally, I can view the DVR on http://192.168.1.175:8000 but I want to be able to do it remotely.

I already have set up port forwarding on my router and our ISP allows serving.

I want to be able to have http://mydvr.mydomain.com:8000 point to http://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:8000 where xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx is our public, static IP address.

I know it has to do something with DNS. Our domain is with www.1and1.com and I just don't know what DNS settings to set up. There's A, C, ANAME, and other crap (obviously I'm not too good with DNS).

Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!!

Answer:Have a server at http://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:8000 and want http://myname.mydomain.com:8000

I'm not the best with it either but you're gone need an A Record. Make it whatever.yourdomain.com and point it to your home ip address. This will work assuming you have a static ip address.

Recent changes:
We recently removed 5 out of 6 total 2008R2 DCs from our environment and promoted 5 x 2016 servers as DCs.  We are still running the domain functional level @ 2008R2 however.
Single forest 2 domain environment
Shortly have recent changes (stated above) the issue started with 5 users in parent domain.  After existing user logs in applications like  windows explorer, internet explore, will error with  "windows cannot access the specified
device, path or file. you may not have the appropriate permission to access the item".  Also, other applications will not run as they are attempting to resister OCX file and DLLs.  cannot access computer management even after granting affected
user local admin rights.  This issue has now transcended to child domain and is affecting at the moment only 1 existing user.
Unaffected users are able to login to same test computer and run applications without issue.
Clearly a domain permission problem with the user account, but not sure how to proceed.
For testing I gave affected users domain admin rights and the issue goes away.  Remove domain admin rights and the issue returns for the user.
Any ideas?

Hello,

I am attempting to access an application.exe file on my desktop. Each time that I click on it the Windows message, "Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item." pops up. I am the system administrator so this should NOT be a problem but apparently many out there are dealing with this as well. I can delete, move and even copy the file but I cannot run it. There is no option for override with password or grant permission. It just says that I cannot run it. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Also, the system I am running is Windows 7 Ultimate x64.

Answer:Windows can't access file. May not have permission to access.

Hello KyRy, and welcome to Seven Forums.

You might check to see if you can right click on the file, click on Properties, click on Security tab, and make sure that you have Read & execute permission allowed (checked) for your user account or the administrators group.Permissions - Allow or Deny Users and Groups
If not, then you might see if you may be able to install and use the free program Unlocker on the file to have access to it afterwards.

Hope this helps,
Shawn

I run a windows 2003 server. I have about 10 computers connected to the network. Everything was working great, until I took a vacation. When I came back one of the computers could not connect to the network. Everytime I try to go to the network I get the message "\\servername is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this network resource. Contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have access permissions." I have not changed anything with the server. I have tried disabling the firewall on the computer that cannot connect. I reformatted the computer and the message still appears. Does anyone have any ideas?

Answer:\\server is not accessible. You might not have permission to use etc etc

It may have been dropped from the domain, happens from time to time. Try removing it from the domain and readding it.

Hey everyone,

Thanks for this great website. This will actually be my first post here. I am having issues with my DNS configurations, under the IPV4 properties. I originally had it set to receive the dns server automatically, and now it is constantly changing to receive dns server through a static IP. The static Ip address that keeps getting assigned is 216.146.36.240. I do have internet access, but I my outlook which is setup with a exchange email address is not connecting because of this issue. I noticed that my homepage did change once, but I dont know if it was because of a software that I downloaded or virus related. Honestly, I am not sure what is causing this.

Things that I have already tried:
Booted into safemode and ran rkill followed by malwarebytes and superantispyware.
I didnt know I wasn't supposed to run it on my own, but I ran Combofix (sorry)
I ran Microsoft Security Essentials
I ran from a command line ipconfig /flushdns, and rebooted.

Thanks guys

Answer:DNS server changes to static without permission

I thought it was dyndns.org that was the issue, and i just realized it wasn't.
There is a software called Sendori, I uninstalled it. And that seemed to be the problem.

I now get this error message trying to access network resources from a laptop that used to work just fine. My wife's similarly configured laptop continues to work fine. I regularly share drives and printers across all machines and all appear to work except for this laptop. I have found that I can pring the other computers without issue if I use the ip address and can "net use" the drives directly by specifying the ip address rather than the computer name. However, any attempt to use the computer name fails (as above or as a "System error 53 has occurred" in a command prompt). Using the [email protected] solves part of the problem but I cannot find a similar [email protected] workaround to get to my network printer successfully.

All computers are running XP professional. I have tried disabling firewalls. The laptop is a work-configured laptop (as is my wife's) and works fine connected to all manner of networks. As I mentioned, this machine worked fine a unil I noticed an issue about a month ago. This problem persists through re-boots.

Hi. I have had this problem for many months now and have tried to remove the infection manually using instructions found on ehow, using Norton Antivirus, malwarebytes and spybot search and destroy. Nothing has been successful at removing it. I have just been using my laptop instead of my desktop because I don't want to use an infected computer. The computer is running Windows XP Professional SP3. I receive notifications from Norton that an intrusion attempt has been blocked. When I go into the log, I found that there were three high risk log entries, one for HTTP Tide Serv Request2, one for HTTP CrimePack Activity 1, and one for HTTP Nukesploit Request. As I mentioned this has been going on for months now. At the beginning it was mostly just HTTP Tide Serv Request2, the other two are new today. I'm hoping you can help me, otherwise I'm going to have to reinstall Windows, which I'd like to avoid doing. I hope I have included enough background. My scans are below and attached. Your help is greatly appreciated!

I am running Serv-U for an FTP server I have set up, But I want an http server also to run a temp site, till i have the cash to buy hosting. Please advise on a good program for that.

Answer:http Server

Apache. download it at www.apache.org and if you php or SQL support, download it all as a batch from www.appservnetwork.com . if you have a good enough upload speed, you don't even need to pay anyone for hosting. host it from your pc!

Greetings all,

I have a problem. I have window 10 version 1439.10 (insider edition) I have had the worst trouble continuously changing the proxy server from http://ɴ.net/server.pac to null. I enable the administrator account and I continuously have to change the settings back. I have tried using both registry and administrative tools such as policy editor to prevent changing of the proxy settings to no avail. Is there no way even as administrator to prevent this invasion. Ps . I have tried all known malware apps ie malware bytes/built-in windows defender ect....can anyone help?

Question: HTTP Server

Anyone know of a server program that works with Windows 98 that can support PERL and CGI extensions? I'm trying to run a UBB.

-Jarrad

Answer:HTTP Server

Nope and I wouldn't even try it on Win98. Learn Unix and you can set up a web server that will run both.

Ok, I posted earlier that I needed a solution to my problem, well I found one. I got the eval version of windows server 2003 (180 days to use it), my school is looking into purchasing a license as I type this.

Anyway, onto my problem. I have everything set up and running, DHCP server, DNS server, Active Directory, etc. Plus I have all the users created. Everyone can login (I have mandatory profiles set) and do their work and that's fine. However, here's my problem, I created a share directory called "Users", this directory contains all the user folders (by their full name, so "John Smith" for example). I have set the correct permissions and everything (I believe) but people get an error everytime they try and save, something along the lines of permissions not being set or the disk being read only.

Just to be clear, if person X is logged in, and they try and get into person Z's folder they get access denied (and vice versa )

I have each folder set (under the security tab of the properties box) so that "Administrators" and that particular user have FULL access to that folder, it's subfolder, and it's contents (on the advanced tab I have deselected the inherit permissions thing).

So any ideas on why they can't save in their designated folder?

Answer:Windows Server 2003 permission problems

share permissions take the most resterictive between ntfs permissions and sharing permissions no? make sure you have them configure correctly to allow the onwers to write to their dir.

i have just added a hotmail account to OE anddownloaded folders as well. my pop3 messagesdownload in seconds but hotmail take ages, nowwhen i click to recieve mail a zonealarm alertasks if i want OE to act as a server. is thisconnected with the slow hotmail connection andshould i allow OE server permmision. any help.thanks.

Answer:zone alarm alert OE wants server permission?

Yes you do want Outlook Express to act as a server, go into the program window in Zone Alarm and make sure you have four ticks in OE line, have a look in Start Up (RUN>MSCONFIG>STARTUP) and see what you have running this could be causing slow download, but Hotmail is not the speediest.

Remote host said: xx xx Client does not have permission to submit mail to this server

I email this client frequently and now all emails to anyone in their company are bouncing back like this. I am going to call them today, but was curious what this meant before I call.

Thanks.

I've set up several users on my W2K server domain controller. I've set up several directories to be shared with 'everyone' on the network. Whenever I attempt to logon a workstaion as one of the users, I am told 'access denied'.

If I am making the resource available to everyone (with full read/write permissions), how can someone be denied access? Am I missing a step here?

The server is W2K Server, and all the workstations are W2K Pro...

Answer:Windows 2000 server permission issue

permissions on a share is a separate set of information than login information. If you share something with everyone, it does not mean that everyone can log into a workstation. They will have to log in as a valid user, then connect to the share from there.

Servers: WinXP, but they can be migrated to Server2k3 if needed.

Objective: Setup two serves on a simple LAN. Users type in "server01" in the web browser and are then directed to http server #1. Users type in "server02" in the web browser and users are then directed to the http of server #2.

Plan: To setup a local DNS and http server. What is the best way to go? Apache is easy enough to install, but for DNS should I use Server2k3 or some 3rd party application like SimpleDNS or??? I would like to stick with WinXP if possible, but I could do Win2k3, but would rather not.

Thanks

Hi - I am trying to configure Apache on W7 machine, Please help in fixing a configuration issue.

- IIS is not installed in my system and Port 80 is free before installing Apache
- I installed Apache in "D:\Apache" and installation suceeded
- Apache startes and running fine. Now Port 80 is in use by httpd.exe
- http://localhost on IE shows Apache Index page which means Apache installation is proper and Apache is running fine
- I have configured my router for Port Forwarding to forward HTTP calls to local machine (192.168.1.2:80)
- Now while I am trying to access my Apache server page through Internet from another machine , page is not loading.
- Diagnostics shows that - website() is online but isn't responsding to connection attaempts
- I have tried disabling Firewall, adding Inbound/Outbound rules to ensure that port 80 is not locked.
- No anti virus.

- After this I tried installing ISS on this mahcine and configured everything. again http://localhost shows IIS page but when I am trying to aceess it through internet no response.

-> I did follow the same configuration steps on a System with VISTA and it works fine. I am able to view the web page through internet from any PC. But same software installed by following same procedure is not working on Windows7.

Please help me in resolving this issue.

Greetings,

Possible clue: OK, so I am going to build a website using WordPress (which I have not yet downloaded) and I noticed that my hosting service uses Linux and also uses Apache for something...(yes, I'm a noob to this)...

Meanwhile, I found (here I think) very high recommendations for Personal Software Inspector (PSI) and have installed and run it.

PSI tells me that "This program was detected as Insecure, it is strongly recommended that you apply the latest security patch from the vendor of the program." and "The version detected of Apache 2.2.x was 2.2.9 while the latest version including one or more security fixes is 2.2.17."

So, I click the Install Solution link and am taken to an apache.org page and see SEVERAL links for 2.2.17...here they are:
Unix Source: httpd-2.2.17.tar.gz [PGP] [MD5] [SHA1]
Unix Source: httpd-2.2.17.tar.bz2 [PGP] [MD5] [SHA1]
Win32 Source: httpd-2.2.17-win32-src.zip [PGP] [MD5] [SHA1]
Win32 Binary without crypto (no mod_ssl) (MSI Installer): httpd-2.2.17-win32-x86-no_ssl.msi [PGP] [MD5] [SHA1]
Win32 Binary including OpenSSL 0.9.8o (MSI Installer): httpd-2.2.17-win32-x86-openssl-0.9.8o.msi [PGP] [MD5] [SHA1]
Other files

So, please, here are my questions.

1) Why do I have and need Apache?

2) Which link is the proper one for me?

I am running Win7 x64.

TIA

Answer:Apache HTTP Server - which one?

You dont need to run any of the above on your computer, unless your actually hosting your website on your machine. More likely your paying a webhost a monthly fee to host your wordpress account. IIS is in a nutshell the microsoft version of Apache. If you install all this on your home computer, chances are your isp is blocking port 80 traffic to your home, unless your paying for a business account. You really are better off with a professional hosting service that will manage/mitigate your server setup and security risks. Good Luck!

Hey all, not sure if this is appropriate here or not but I believe it is as it is directly related to IIS and .asp applications. I have a GML Portal setup on a new host and most of the times it has worked fine. Now we are often getting a http/1.1 500 server error (nothing more specific). After a careful search through Google I have not found a lot of information that is helpful. Some are saying that IIS needs to be redone (which I'm sure my host is not going to be willing to uninstall and reinstall IIS) or a different parameter to be set. The links I have found most helpful are as follows:

http://www.gotdotnet.com/community/messageboard/Thread.aspx?id=17505

http://dotnetjunkies.com/WebLog/petergekko/archive/2003/11/20/3796.aspx

Now, I am stuck trying to get my hosting company to realize that they may in fact have something setup wrong. Trying not to tick anyone off while doing so may prove to be difficult as I'm sure they are beginning to see me as a "pain in the rear end" due to asking them to cooperate with me on numerous items already (mainly setting certain asp to application and some difficulty with this present problem). They have suggested that the problem may be with the code but this code is from the GML Portal package and has been proven on many different platforms (not saying it is NOT possible, just not real likely at this point). My host basically leans towards php but I prefer asp and they are supposed to be supporting it (although t... Read more

Im not sure about that particular error but ASP code usually has pretty good error reporting, what you need to do is turn off friendly HTML messages in your browser, and you should get a more specific error.

Answer:apache http server help

If your running linux you only need to start the Apache daemon which in my case is "httpd". I added it to the "daemon" line in /etc/rc.conf

You should go through the "httpd.conf" file also to make sure the services you want are available.

If your doing this in Windows, I don't have a clue.

I have just set up a computer with Windows 7, and I'm apparently missing something simple, but I just can't find it.

I installed Windows 7 on the machine and everything works great. I then joined the computer to a 2003 Server domain. Everything still appeared to work fine. However, when I log into the domain on the Windows 7 computer, I don't have the correct permissions on the local machine.

I can access the domain. The login works fine. There are no errors. However, when I try and access anything on the local drive, like explorer.exe, it tells me that I don't have the permissions to access it. I can run some programs, in some directories (like Program Files), but if I try and run anything in the Windows directory, I don't have permission. I can access things on the domain, and I can even use Firefox to view the contents of domain machines, mapped network drives, and even the local C drive. I just cannot run anything that's in the local Windows directory.

I can access the local drive using either the domain administrator account, or the local machine administrator account. However, using either of those accounts, I'm not allowed to change permissions on that folder! I can see that the folder is set as read only, but when I attempt to remove the read-only flag (using either account), it tells me that I don't have permission to do that.

I've also tried to give the domain user administrator permission on the local machine, but that has no effect either. That part really con... Read more

This thread at TechNet seems to relate to your problem. It mentioned something about you need to set the password the same as the Administrator's password of the Windows 2000 system. And also you need to change the NTLM authentication level in Windows 7. Even though you are on server 03 this may still apply.

HOW CAN I ACSESS THIS SITE?

Answer:Access Denied You don't have permission to access

For starters, where are you trying to access it from? Is this an Internet connection from home, college, business, etc? If it's a home connection, perhaps you should speak with your ISP to see if there are any issues. As for business and colleges: the people in charge of networking at these respective establishments would be the best bet.

Hello everyone, I'm new here and I signed up specifically because I was told this place was great for helping people with really intractable problems.

I have a user, Markus, he's an engineer, and he likes folder structures. He's got a nice one set up on my server with very well-defined permissions for several groups for his engineering projects.

His computer: Core 2 Duo machine running Windows Vista, non-SP1.
Server is a Dell PowerEdge running Server 2003 SP2 with all the latest updates.
We are in a Windows 2003 domain which is running pretty smoothly.

Starting a few weeks ago, he has been having problems very sporadically where a file that has has been working with and saving frequently, in a directory he has full permissions to access, refuses to save over its previous incarnation.

To break that down: he'll be in Word, say, and he saves his file every fifteen minutes, and at some point it will refuse to save over the existing copy and it will instead pop up the Save As box. Happens in Word, Illustrator, and Pro-E, so it's not program specific.

It ONLY happens for this user, none of the others. This means to me that it is either user-specific or OS-specific, as he's the only one running Vista, too.

Some of the programs will spit out an oddly-named file (like "a3bdfe8c") before giving the error. I assume that this is because the program is attempting to save the file and then write over the old one, in an attempt to make it an ato... Read more

I think my pc has some real major problems and im ready to throw it out the window.

Recently it has just stopped allowing me to google search. If I know the web page I can go directly to the address bar and type it in but if I tried to search that same address in google or any other search engine I get the above error. I honestly think this pc has been infected by something. I have completely uninstalled msn, mind you the kids are not happy by that move but I just have no idea what is wrong with our computer anymore.

I have tried using these programs to fix the issues and I use AVG anti virus protection:

If you have any advice for me other than chucking it out the window, please let me know!!!

Hi there-

Yesterday I noticed that the “automatic proxy setup” had been turned on and set to http://ɴ.net/server.pac. And I can not delete or change this setting. Basically I see the same problem as described in this post:
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/614253/proxy-hijack-to-http%C9%B4netserverpac-and-google-redirects/

I searched Registry for "http://xn--koa.net/server.pac", and spot it in several places. I deleted all the "http://xn--koa.net/server.pac" that I found. After restarting the OS for several  times, the problems didn't appear. I assumed the problem was fixed.

BUT today, it comes back again. So I know method of simply deleting http://xn--koa.net/server.pac in Registry won't fix this problem permanently.

I attached FRST reports below.

Also, just minutes ago, by using FRST, I searched Registry again for "http://xn--koa.net/server.pac", and found 4 items:

"AutoConfigURL"="http://xn--koa.net/server.pac"
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings]

HI, Can anyone help me sort this. Every link I am clicking on is coming up with HTTP internal server error. Whats gone wrong and how do I sort this? Any help grateful.

Answer:HTTP 500 internal server error

In IE, turn off Friendly HTTP error messages by choosing Tools/Internet Options/Advanced. Then you should get the real error message and line number of the error.

Okay, before I start, I'm just going to apologize for my complete lacking in computer knowledge. I'm not sure where to post this...

Well, i wasn't having this issue before but I am now and I don't know why, but I can't do certain things on the internet, such as signing into my yahoo messenger or getting on my myspace account. When I troubleshoot it always comes up with something to do with my HTTP connection or my proxy server. Yahoo messenger told me to go into my Internet Options>Connections>LAN Settings and then to check the box saying 'use a proxy server for your LAN' and then click on advanced and verify my address and port. But there is nothing in any of those boxes. I have not messed with or changed any settings lately but it just started doing this. Can someone please give me step by step easy instructions on how to fix this? I would be so very thankful.

Thanks in advance,
Taylor

Answer:HTTP connection, proxy server?

If you're connected to the internet via a connection that's always on, like DSL or Cable, then you can run through the connection wizard and see if that helps. If you have to use a username and password to connect, then you'll need to know a bit more to configure. If you're using an always on connection then try opening internet explorer, click on TOOLS>INTERNET OPTIONS>CONNECTIONS>SETUP>NEXT>CONNECT TO THE INTERNET>SETUP MY CONNECTION MANUALLY>CONNECT USING BROADBAND CONNECTION THAT IS ALWAYS ON>FINISH and see if that helps.

I'm on my work's LAN and I use my machine as a web server so I can do some testing with work projects. The problem I'm having is that while I can access my web server (through localhost/127.0.0.1/machine name/ip address) others inside the LAN with me cannot. They can ping my box no problem, but when they try to access it through http, they get Page Cannot Be Displayed.

I've been scouring around now for a bit and cannot resolve this issue. Any thoughts?

Hello,

I want to connect to a Team Foundation Server through HTTP. I am not in the network (local nor VPN) with the server I want to connect to. I use the public IP of the server.
From my laptop with XP it can be reached easily - for example when I enter the http://serverIP:9200 in the Internet Explorer, the browser asks me for a password and if I fail to log it shows that the Access is denied.
9200 is a port number.
When I connect a laptop with Vista and do the same, a browser just informs that it cannot display the page. I can't also connect to the server via telnet. The behaviour is the same also when I turn off the firewall on Vista (on XP I do not need to turn off the firewall). What then can be blocking this connection?? Are there any security settings that I should check?
There is no problem to connect to the Web server from the same network as this TFS.
I would be very thankful for some help or suggestions.
Greetings,
Polo

to the people who know about this please help me.

Im having issues setting up RPC over HTTP on my Exchnage server. I have installed it on the server and have followed MS install guide (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/833401)

we have a ISA 2004 server in the middle of the Internet and the exchnage server and i have allowed passthrough for that.

The server is not an SBS server its Server 2003 Sp1. in the KB artical I have doubts on somethings.

Remove all the information from the Value data box, and then type the following information:
ServerNETBIOSName:6001-6002;ServerFQDN:6001-6002;ServerNetBIOSName:6004;ServerFQDN:6004
Notes• Replace ServerNetBIOSName with the NetBIOS name of your server. Replace ServerFQDN with the fully qualified domain name (FQDN) of your server.
• If the FQDN that is used to access the server from the Internet differs from the internal FQDN, you must use the internal FQDN.
• To determine the NetBIOS name and the fully qualified domain name of your server, start a command prompt, type ipconfig /all, and then press ENTER.

Under Windows IP Configuration, information that is similar to the following appears:
Host Name .................: mycomputer
Primary DNS Suffix ........: contoso.com

We have OWA setup and working fine. Our DNS suffix is server.contoso.contoso.com. Our mail FQDN is mail.contoso. Where it has the serverFQDN i have edited so its server.contoso.com.

When I set up Outlook to use RPC over HTTP it keeps saying ... Read more

you might need to start in safe mode to load this prog or maybe you have a restricted account and need to be in an administrative account to do this.

In the attempt to run the setup of a program I get this:

?Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permission to access the item.?
I am the administrator. Usually, by right clicking the mouse, and selecting run as administrator, this does the job. Did not work this time. How do I solve this?
Suggestions on how to get around this?

Win7 Pro SP1 64bit

Answer:appropriate permission to access

What program are you trying to install? Does it tell you what device/path/file is causing the problem?

Hi all,
I am running a small business server 2003. I am getting a HTTP error 401 when I try to bring up the configure backup option in server management. The program is asking for a login and password. I have given it a valid login and password and the request window for login and password continues to appear. After times it fails with an ASP.NET error and at the end of the error states HTTP error 401.
Look where it suggested ie, Microsft KB and IIS help. Still can't seem to find a solution. The only thing I can remember doing prior to this error appearing was setting up a FTP Server.

Any and all help would be appreciated

How to set up a http server running from you computer

(Either you can set up a basic server which means you stop at step... or if you want to make a server with free address you can continue after that step)

1. We are going to use a program called hfs i like the beta version (2) you will need to download this program.
Go to www.rejetto.com/temp/hfs2.0beta33.zip

2. Make a folder where you wish to run it from for example C:/Program files/hfs or C:/Documents and settings/Username/My documents/Hfs

3. Move the downloaded zip file into that folder and extract it.

4. Delete the zip file and KEEP THE OTHER FILES!!!!!

http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a129/timtimmy/1.jpg

5. Run the program and it will come up with a screen that looks like this

http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a129/timtimmy/2.jpg

6. Click the button that says easy mode (this turns it into expert mode which basically means you have all the options)

7. Where it says port change the port to 80 (this can clash with some programs like webcam on msn and maybe others im not sure) ((the port you choose doesnt really matter 80 is just easier))

8. How to turn on port forwarding. (ONLY for people with routers) ((this varies depending on which make of router you have but for my router sweex i will tell you how its done))
Go to internet explorer or mozzilla firefox. Type into the address bar 192.168.2.1 with nothing in else. A window will come up asking you for username and password by default th... Read more

Currently my XP1900+ w/ 1.5GB RAM folding box is fulfilling these roles under Ubuntu Server 6.10

http server
dhcp server
dns cache
samba server
mpd server + jinzora server (connected to stereo)
mysql server
openvpn / ssh server
running boinc 24/7 @ 80% cpu
running torrentflux (although I want to move this to something else to lower the cpu usage)
firewall / routing

I was thinking about picking up a dual 500Mhz P3 w/ 1gb or something similar (running linux) to take the load off the folding machine.

Does anyone have any suggestions for a router box and which roles it should take from the folding box? Currently there are 4 clients (2 xp, 1 os x, 1 linux) not including the folding box on my internal network connected by a 16 port linksys switch.

For the real IT people, what should I look for to manage my home network? Any advice would be nice

Answer:Minimum Specs for Router / HTTP Server / etc

I think you should be fine with what you have listed, depending on the level of usage you have.

I guess I should give you an example of what I have running on my server, and it's roles.

It is an old Dell Poweredge 2400 with a pair of P3 450's, and 768MB of RAM with a couple 10k RPM 36GB and 9GB HDD's.

It is running Windows Server 2003 Standard Edition, and it is a Domain Controller, DNS Server, FTP Server (IIS), Web Server (IIS), Mail Server (hMailServer), File Server, Streaming Media Server (Vibe Streamer), Torrent DL'er (uTorrent), VPN Server (OpenVPN; Windows Clients), and of course it runs A/V, and a couple other network monitoring programs.

All in all, I have had no problem at all with the performance of the machine except when I get complex PHP scripts going.

Yesterday I noticed connection problems and I couldnt open google as it was deemed unsecure. After scanning with malwarebytes I noticed the aforementioned malware, so I procedd to remove all affected files and restarted. I could access google now but connection problems kept persisting so i did a scan with adwcleaner and it detected other threat files and removed them but problem kept persisting and even after doing a repair with Complete Internet repair software or AviraDNSrepair.
Now after removing the malware and making sure there's no trace of it in registry I can access google but connection problems are still present with webpages loading indefinetely until connection is reestablished. This also seems to happen mostly at night strangely enough.
