Avg Anti-Rootkit free blocked by Kaspersky

Question: Avg Anti-Rootkit free blocked by Kaspersky

Read an article in my local newspaper today (1-16-2010) by James Derk tech columnist.

He said to use AVG Free Anti-Rootkit.

Google search lead to AVG saying that Anti-Rootkit no longer free.

Found the free download at Softpedia.

Installed it on my computer and my Kaspersky Anti-Virus went wild with threat and suspicious activity alerts.

Is AVG Anti-Rootkit safe??????

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I scanned my computer with Kaspersky's anyirootkit and it detected a "win32.backboot.gen" from the "device\harddisk2\dr12" directory. How do I remove it? It didnt give me a "cure" option. Should I reformat my computer?

I don't even bother fixing infections. Make sys images on a 100% clean system. Do backups and then restore backups. All antiviruses are bleepe, as per my experience. There are plenty of packers and cryters in the market that make old malware FUD. So, what is the point in even having an AV ?

AOL and Kaspersky have got together and re-leased a 'FREE' version of Kaspersky...(No you dont need to be an AOL customer)
This is basically Kaspersky slimmed down and re-skinned but offers the same excellent detection engine as Kaspersky

This has to beat AVG as the 'Best Free Anti-Virus Program' Available
to get license key you have to register with email address, I may suggest using a 2nd free email address as the EULA specifys that you may get SPAM from AOL and other companys so using a 2nd email address (just for these sort of pruposes) will avoid your usual email address from being bombarded with SPAM

Kaspersky is one of the best detection engines on the market and has won awards for its detection rate, namely the 'VB 100%' Award which means it can detect 100% of the Viruses in the

There are different types of malware such as viruses, Trojans, worms spreading over the internet, and these kind of threats can be easily used to penetrate your computer while you are busy reading your emails or buying some stuff online. Malware can be embedded in attachment or in the body of a message. Same for a website you are surfing. Another dangerous form of malware is rootkit. What is rootkit? It is a program that will grant unauthorized access to your PC, and all its malicious processes will be hidden from your computer. Here we have TDSSKiller - a rootkit removal tool by Kaspersky that allows removing rootkits.

Rootkits received a publicity boost with Sony?s rootkit infested CDs that was supposed to be some kind of copy protection. Since then rootkits have become an ever growing threat on the Internet in line with Viruses, Trojans, Phishing and Spam. The major problem with rootkits is that most users think that their virus scanner protects them from rootkits as well which is most of the time not the case. Rootkits are much harder to detect by normal means and software that can scan systems for rootkits should be used by inexperienced users to be able to detect at least the most common ones.
AVG Anti Rootkit is a free software that scans a computer for rootkits and removes them if one or more of those have been identified. The anti rootkit application can be used to either quickly scan the computer for possible rootkits and the other to make an in depth scan which takes longer but is more thorough. The in depth scan for Rootkits takes some time depending on the amount of files and size of your hard drives.

This is a very useful program that can be had here for free. I consider it a hot deal. But If you disagree or can't use it please do not spoil it for all those that can. Thank you. Enjoy!!!

The best free solution for detecting and eliminating rootkits

Rootkits are programs designed to hide files, processes or registry entries. They can be used to hide viruses, Trojans and other malicious code, making them invisible to users and security software.

As a result, users could be unaware that their computers could be sending out spam, launching attacks against other computers or even harboring Trojans used to steal confidential data.

Panda Anti-Rootkit scans computers for hidden items in running processes, the Windows registry, and local hard disks. On detecting a malicious rootkit, Panda Anti-Rootkit completely eliminates it along with all of the programs it could be hiding, including files, processes, registry entries and the ADSs associated to the rootkits.

Panda Anti-Rootkit, offers simple, fast and free protection against online fraud and data theft using hidden malicious code.

This free solution is updated online and be used as often as you like.

From my sig you can see what else I'm using. I like AVG and chose their rootkit program because it was free and because I was already using their anti-virus and anti-spyware programs, so I figured compatibility issues would be minimal.

But now they've stopped offering updates to the Free edition, so I suppose I need a new anti-rootkit program - I'm looking for one that's free and effective. Small size, fast speed, no compatibility or CPU hogging issues would be a plus.

Any recommendations?

hi gents
i want to know the difference between kaspersky antivirus and kaspersky free . and what about this combo(KFA+ZAM premium+APPcheck free)+Malwarebyte antimalware on demand scanner . is KAV has antiphsing protection ??

Answer:Difference between Kaspersky Free and Kaspersky Antivirus

the only difference between KAV and KAF is that KAV has system watcher = behavior blocker. system watcher is one of the most powerful weapons of kaspersky that's why they charge you for that
they both have phishing protection

your combo looks OK to me. I can recommend that
but I don't agree with Malwarebytes because it seems redundant to me. zemana as the second opinion scanner is sufficient enough. It's realtime protection is different from its on-demand scanner. You will get better result with on-demand scanning than the realtime protection

Good morning everyone,
Frequent visitor, first time poster of this forum. I want to thank anyone in advance for committing any amount of time to my problem. I'm hoping someone has some experience with this issue. Allow me to explain:

Yesterday, I woke-up my computer and opened up my browser (I use Google Chrome). As soon as I clicked to open the browser, I noticed a Windows Explorer Pop-up. I have attached a picture of what this box looks like, but to describe it for those who are not able to open the attachment: The windows header said "Mod Info" and the Content said "BC LOADED" the only available options for me to click were "OK" or the "Close" button at the top right. Without clicking anything the box then disappeared and Google Chrome opened as usual. This behavior was unexpected, I've never seen this before. Worrying I had some kind of Spyware or Malware, I decided to try running my AV program. I use Avast Free.

I went to look for the process in the hidden icons list on my taskbar, where it usually resides. I didn't see it there, which was concerning. I tried running the program from the start menu, but after clicking it, nothing opened. This was also a red flag that something must be wrong. So I decided to try and run Malwarebytes Anti-Malware. This program would also not open when prompted.

I decided to scan google for my symptoms to look for recommended fixes. Several tech support forums suggested to those who presented simil... Read more

I am usually able to resolve this sort of problem on my own, but this one has me baffled. I got hit with a bogus anti-virus worm. I immediately chased the files that were created the moment the worm attacked. As has happened before, zone labs and malwarebytes were rendered inoperable. In the past when this has happened to others, in was able to kill the task causing the problem in task manager, reinstall my anti-virus and anti-malware programs, delete or quarantine the virus, clean the registry with registry fix, and everything was back to normal.

This new worm/Trojan is a bit more sinister. At one point, it was creating a task that included a : in the task name. I could find the filename for that appeared prior to the colon, but could not kill the task. When I try to install zone alarm, it would tell me that it was having problems disabling my existing version. I tried to delete zonealarm but it failed. With malwarebytes, I was able to reinstall, but 10 seconds in, it crashed. When I try to rerun malwarebytes, I am told I don't have permission to run the program. I tried Emsisoft anti-malware. Seems to install okay, but the minute I try to do a scan, windows crashes to blue screen.

One consistent item I have found in each anti-virus directory is a file with no name. I see a file icon, but I cannot delete the file nor rename it (the rename box opens, but errors).

I'm sorry, I forgot to mention that I am running XP Professional sp3.

Sorry this has taken a while to get back to you. Original post is here.I was able to run the DDS application with no problems, but GMER was another story. On the first run I received several pop up boxes telling me data was lost even though the application completed. However, it would not let me save the file. The second run resulted in my computer restarting itself. I was not watching as this happened, so I am assuming I got another blue screen. Shortly afterwards, Windows Explorer shuts down and then restarts. This cycle repeats itself continuously.

Full scans using Kaspersky, Malewyrebytes, and Super-Antispyware did not detect anything. Nor did Kaspersky Rootkit Killer, which I was instructed to run by a technician in another forum -- along with Combofix, ESET, GMER and ASWMBR. Isn't there any exceptions tag in your antivirus program. If present then add those browsers in that. It'l allow them. I'm thinking that the anti virus will block the browers that whenever you are connecting to the internet any attack had been taking place into your system.... so it did.

Back once again, giving my computer a check-over
So on Monday Kaspersky blocked a bunch of attempts by Google Crash Handler to Duplicate Internal Process Handlers, read memory from other processes, inject code and access memory from other processes; no popups but these all show up in my detailed reports.  There was also one instance of Windows Explorer being blocked for reading memory from other processes.  Chrome and my VP are updating as normal, but I suppose it wouldn't be a bad idea to check in once again over here to make sure all is well.
Might it be the latest build of Chrome installing and Kaspersky being overprotective?  No really suspicious behavior detected since beyond App X Deployment Extensions DLL launching today.

I just came across this today. Don't know how old it is. There is no date on the Web page.

Not sure which forum is most appropriate for this post.

Answer:AVG Anti-Spyware and AVG Anti-Rootkit are no longer available

Yes I'm sure that most AVG users have already realized this. Actually it probably would have been a better idea to post this comment in the Software Forum. I'll move it there for the benefit of those who are not reading the AVG8 information updates.

Hello, I'm having a huge problem with my computer. A virus has blocked Internet Explorer along with AntiVirus programs that other forums have recommended. Basically, when I open up IE it immediately says that IE is not responding and needs to shut down. The same goes for Kaspersky. Also, when I go to Google to look up solutions, I click on a link but it takes me to a different page and I have to retry several times to get where I want. I downloaded HighjackThis but it would not start, even in safe mode.

One program that did work was Avira AntiVir. I scanned the computer and it came up with two malwares. It quarantined them but when I tried to open IE, nothing changed. I tried deleting the files as well, but again, IE was shut down immediately.

Please help! (p.s. I'm running on Vista)

Answer:A virus has blocked Internet Explorer, Kaspersky, HijackThis, and other AntiVirus programs

Try this scan. You can copy it over from another computer if you need to.Before we start fixing anything you should print out these instructions or copy them to a NotePad file so they will be accessible. Some steps will require you to disconnect from the Internet or use Safe Mode and you will not have access to this page. Please download Dr.Web CureIt and save it to your desktop. DO NOT perform a scan yet.alternate download linkNote: The file will be randomly named (i.e. 5mkuvc4z.exe).Reboot your computer in "Safe Mode" using the F8 method. To do this, restart your computer and after hearing your computer beep once during startup (but before the Windows icon appears) press the F8 key repeatedly. A menu will appear with several options. Use the arrow keys to navigate and select the option to run Windows in "Safe Mode".Scan with Dr.Web CureIt as follows:Double-click on the randomly named file to open the program and click Start. (There is no need to update if you just downloaded the most current versionRead the Virus check by DrWeb scanner prompt and click Ok where asked to Start scan now? Allow the setup.exe to load if asked by any of your security programs. The Express scan will automatically begin.

Are there any free, updated and/or recent Anti-Virus & Anti-Malware combos that could offer better protection than windows defender for windows 10?

I have had Avast Free anti-virus for a long time. At some point, after an automatic upgrade, all my messages in Outlook 2003 got an added anti-spam toolbar from Avast. I don't want it.

I did not find any way to make it go away from inside Outlook. It does not appear as an add-on in the relevant places. At some point, there was a register-based solution that was floating around on the Web. It worked with a previous version of Avast, but not with the current one.

I uninstalled Avast (with the proprietary uninstall tool, in safe mode) and reinstalled it twice. At some point, the anti-spam appeared as a separate module, so naturally I refused installation / deactivated it / uninstalled it (don't remember which). Yet it's impossible to make the toolbar go away.

If I de-activate or uninstall the mail shield module, the anti-spam toolbar goes away, but I don't want that. I want Avast to scan my mail, of course.

Now that I have nixed it somehow, the anti-spam component does not show anymore in the Settings / Components panel, not even in order to be re-activated. I don't know if this is a bug or a feature. It happens with other Avast components that I have refused, or uninstalled, and which do not appear anymore in the options panel as an option available for re-activation.

The anti-spam, illogically, is not part of the mail shield component, and no relevant settings appear in the mail shield settings.

A request in the Avast forum did not bring any helpful answers.

Thanks... Read more

There is no universal "one size fits all" solution that works for everyone and there is no single best anti-virus. Every vendor's virus lab and program scanning engine is different. Each has has its own strengths and weaknesses and they often use a mix of technologies to detect and remove malware. In many cases choosing an anti-virus is a matter of personal preference and what works best on a particular system. You may need to experiment and find the one most suitable for your needs. I have Windows Defender right now, I don't know if it's good or not though. I did a Panda activescan online and it came with 40 different spyware infected files and one virus I think, but when I ran a full scan on Windows defender it found nothing. Basically I want to get rid of defender and find a good anti-virus and anti-spyware program that's free. It can be an online scan but preferrably works from the computer.

Any takers?

Currently I have been at my mate?s house vigorously tearing through his computer and adding programs to deal with different situations. (Currently I have installed SpyBot search and destroy, Windows Washer and Zone Alarm firewall.) When it came to anti virus my mate refused me to touch it. He stuck with his uncle's decision of Kaspersky anti virus, which I have never heard of. This and the fact that his computer is riddled with problems that is most likely caused by Virus? makes me suspicious. Is it reliable and trustworthy? Does it have anything on AVG. Quite frankly I don't think it's doing its job and should be replaced immediately with AVG free.Best Regards                   Jamez.

Hello Y'all
I am having issues with my Mother's PC. She installed a Kaspersky trial (she thought she was installing the full version) and at the end of the trial it would not let her upgrade it (kept having errors). So the decision was made to uninstall the Kaspersky. And that was the beginning of my headache.
I uninstalled through Control Panel and then went through BC and used the Revo Uninstaller Pro to get anything left after I was still getting messages that the AV was still on the PC. I thought that it had gotten everything until today when my Mom tried to turn on Windows Defender and it brought up a pop up that says "Security Center can't turn on Windows Defender. Please try again later."
So I thought that if she couldn't use Win Defender that I would put a different AV on her PC. I tried to install "AVG Anti Virus FREE" so she would have something on her computer and it said that Kaspersky was still on the computer. I did a search of the PC through Windows Explorer and it did not turn up anything.
Can someone please help me to get this dad-gum program off of my Mom's computer and get Windows Defender working again? Maybe recommend a good free AV that she can use until something like ESET goes on sale?
Her computer is an HP Pavilion dv6000 running Windows Vista Home Premium SP 2 if that makes any differences.
Thank you so much,

Hello and welcome to TSF.

Not a good idea to have more than one Anti-Virus program installed and/or running. While this may seem like greater protection, it can actually cause problems including slowdowns, system hangs and even crashes. Choose one to keep and uninstall the other.

Any antivirus program must be removed via add/remove program.
For any program that doesn't have an add/remove entry, you will have to do this:
re-install the program -> reboot -> uninstall

Then, if you still have issues, we want all our members to perform the steps outlined in the link given below, before posting for assistance. There's a sticky at the top of this forum, and

Please follow our pre-posting process outlined below. Use a USB flash drive to download and transfer the tools to the affected machine, if necessary. You might like to run the Flash_Disinfector.exe on the clean machine and the flash drive first to protect against any possible transfer of infection via USB.

Opinions?Click to expand...

Hi SportsNut,

Yes. I have both their Anti-Hacker, and Anti-Virus on my system, and I think both are excellent. Apart from that, I found the program easy to install and operate, which is important from a beginner's point of view. They also have 24/7 e-mail tech support, and the once or twice I had done something wrong and couldn't figure out what, a phone call to their local office (in UK, for me) got me help from real experts who were prepared to spend time sorting things out for me--all at normal phone rate charges! The Anti-Virus aslo updates automaticvally on a daily basis, though you can do it anytime you want manually.

I chose these two programs because they were hignly rated by Computer Shopper (UK), but they also win accolades in Computer Hoy (Spain), and PC Advisor (France), and no doubt lots of other places too.

Hope this helps.
Cheers, Omigosh.

I don't want any security software that is either free, cause I don't trust such software, or trial-ware.

Which paid for AVs work on 7? I got licenses for Norton IS 2009 & Kaspersky IS 2009...

Oh, and AVG free is causing trouble after it was uninstalled...AVG was somehow corrupted so I uninstalled it. Yet traces of it remain in the registry.

my mum is changing from CA to KASPERSKY for price and hopefully a faster computer. are there any tricks to deleting CA correctly and also is there likely to be much speed increase ,as when i went from mcafee to kaspersky the extra speed was fantastic. shes also changing from tiscali broadband modem to O2 broadband ,is this likely to be an improvement as tiscali seems to be very slow sometimes.many thanks

Answer:CA to KASPERSKY anti virus

I changed from Norton 360 to Kaspersky Internet Security about 8 months ago (running under XP), and to be honest I was disappointed at how little speed gain I achieved.I suggest you recommend that your mum changes to free security software, such as AVG Free antivirus (click here) and Zone Alarm firewall (click here). They're both quite light on computer resources, and trusted by many people on this forum. There's nothing wrong with changing from Tiscali to O2, but don't get your mum's hopes up too high for any dramatic improvement in speed. There are many factors that dictate the speed of a broadband connection, and by no means all of them are under the ISP's control. For example, the distance from your mum's house to the telephone excahnge is probably the single most important factor.

Hi, I have the automatic option for rootkit scanning running on my Kasperspy, but lately it's taken to pausing itself.  There are no buttons or hints that tell me how to unpause it, and it tends to put a huge drag on the RAM, spiking it to 100 and sticking it there until I reboot.  Is there any way to fix it?

Greetings:I just had my computer formated again. The technician/friend who did the work told me that I needed a good anti-virus, firewall and anti-spyware program. I told him that I previously had AVAST! (which was recommended on this Forum and which I liked immensely) but when he checked the AVAST! website, he pointed out to me that the free version only gives anti-virus protection but no firewall or anti-spyware protection. He especially feels that the firewall is essential security. Well, does anyone know where I can download for free a program that gives excellent anti-virus, firewall and anti-spyware protection? The only thing I can add is that when I once downloaded a trial version it was kind enough to download 2 Trojans along with it. Normally I would suggest that you probably have a virus, but well..... Hope you get a tech soon and they can help. Good Luck

The MVP in the article which i will be giving a link to, says this error message 'usually arises from bad programming(usually third party--unless you have written one on your own). The O.P. rectified the problem by un-installing and re-installing Internet Explorer 7!Have you installed any new programs ,just before you started getting this error message?

Best wishes!

i recently when back to windows 7 because i didn't like windows 10. Every thing went well except that kaspersky doesn't run. i tried every thing but i doesn't seem to work

Answer:kaspersky anti virus doesn't run

Upgrading (or downgrading) the Windows OS (and even using "System Restore) often breaks security programs.
In order to run best on Win 10, it is advised to upgrade to KAV2016/KIS2016, as explained HERE

But, since you have rolled back to Win7....

AFAIK, it may be normal for Windows UAC to prompt when first running the program after an OS install.

Have you tried to perform a clean reinstall of KAV2015?

Basic steps:
Make sure you have your valid activation code handy, just in case
Download and save -- but do not run yet -- a fresh copy of KAV2015 from HERE, as explained HERE
Uninstall KAV from the Windows control panel, keeping ONLY license info (or nothing)
((Should NOT be necessary, but might be a good idea: download and run the Kavremover tool, then reboot))
Run the KAV installer, activate it, update it, configure it and reboot again
More details HERE
Let us know how it goes,

Answer:Kaspersky Anti-Virus won't uninstall?

Removing this Program throughout Hijackthis wont remove registry entries. You will be better off if you reinstall the program, then uninstall.

Else, this are the entries in HIjackthis:

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [KAV50] "C:\Program Files\Kaspersky Lab\Kaspersky Anti-Virus Personal Pro 5\kav.exe" -run -n PersonalPro -v -chkss
O23 - Service: Kaspersky Anti-Virus Service (KLBLMain) - Unknown owner - C:\Program Files\Kaspersky Lab\Kaspersky Anti-Virus Personal Pro 5\kavmm.exe" -run bl -n PersonalPro -v -ttsr 10000000 (file missing)

Delete the following folder.

I've heard several people here say that Kaspersky is decent anti-virus and I've been interested in trying it. My dad recently got a deal on a 3 user bundle from frys and I'm the one testing it out.

Do you guys have any advice on configuring this? I'm not sure if I've configured it right, but I haven't been too happy with it. It really slowed my computer's bootup time till I disabled Application Integrity Control. That feature also complained about the software for my logitech mouse and keyboard. I'm wondering if those were false positives.

Do you guys have any thoughts on this? It doesn't seem like it's that bad once I disabled that feature. Maybe I'm just venting a little about some of issues it caused me after install. I think I might test out bitdefender or avast on my other computer, just to look at some alternatives.

Answer:Any advice on Kaspersky Anti-virus?

I'll mention that I think Kaspersky is one of the top 2x antivirus products out there...along with Esets NOD32.

I'm more familiar with NOD32 as I've been a reseller of it for quite some time.

You'll find Avast substantially heavier than Kaspersky, and not as strong in detection. BitDefender is almost as good in detection..but a bit heavier.

Are all prior antivirus products fully uninstalled? If you had a Symantec/Norton product...after uninstalling it, did you use the SymNRT tool?

I just got Kaspersky pro installed on my Windows XP Pro machine and right away it found the Lovescan worm. I knew i had a worm because the other night i turned off my firewall for just a few minutes and i got this RPC failure popup that shut down my machine after 60 seconds. I had to do a Ctrl Alt Delete and shut down the file in processes before Kaspkersky was able to delete it.

Anyways my main question here really has nothing to do with that. Kaspersky is reported corrupted files. I just did a scan a few minutes ago and it found 4. One of them was the new AIM Messenger install file that was located on my desktop. I believe i remember reading a while back that Kaspersky finds several corrupted files but they aren't really corrupted or something. So are these files really corrupted or is Kaspersky just confused? What do i need to worry about Kaspersky finding, just Virus's and ignore the rest?

Answer:Kaspersky Anti-Virus Users

It had 6 listed earlier but i just ran virus scan and it shows 4. These are the files that are showing up as "corrupted" in kasperky.

C:\Documents and Settings\burningrave101\Desktop\AIM Messenger 5.5.3583.exe
C:\Documents and Settings\burningrave101\Desktop\AIM Messenger 5.5.3583.exe
C:\Documents and Settings\burningrave101\Local Settings\Temp\GLB29.tmp
C:\Program Files\Gigabyte\ITE Raid Driver Setup\WIN2K_XP\iteraid.sys

I renamed the AIM messenger file from Install_AIM.exe to that back before i ever even run Kaspersky. I dont guess that has anything to do with it though.

And i found this information on Kaspersky "corrupted" files.

Kaspersky Anti-Virus has found a corrupted file, what does this mean?

A corrupted file is a file which contains different information than Kaspersky Anti-Virus is expecting. A corrupted file does not point to a viruscontamination.Click to expand...

OK here's the problem. I was playing CNC Renegade when the game crashed. When i tried to quit the game, it won't let me into my desktop screen and my pc freezed ( this happens quite a lot of times before because of some settings i changed in the game). I switched off my cpu and then restarted but when i try to run Kaspersky, it says "Kaspersky has been started by another user" , but there's no icon in the system tray. I attempted to shut it (kav.exe and kavsc.exe) with the task manager but it says "access denied" . Now i cant even uninstall the application cause it says "Please make sure you have exited Kaspersky before uninstalling" and its not in my system tray. So theres like no way i can exit, open, or uninstall kaspersky. Thx in advance.

Hi all, I am currently using Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2009, version

I gotten some problems and questions, hopefully I will get my answers and doubts cleared from you guys, whether you are using this software now or before.

First thing first is that, when I start to scan my computer, it shows that I have been affected with some spyware and 2 trojans. When I go into the 'Detected' section, under the 'Disnfected', it shows the spywares, while the 'Quarantine' part, it shows the 2 trojans.

1. Are these virus and spyware remove already? If not how do I remove them?
2. When there are presence of virus(s), am I able to select the type of actions? Like deleting them? Cause In the settings, I cannot find such actions done.
They only have 2 kinds of actions : Select an action automatically or Do not prompt : Disinfect, delete if cannot be disinfected

3. So which is good?

Thanks and really need advices

I just finished a free trial with Kaspersky personal edition AV 5 and liked it a lot.
I'm now trying BitDefender 9 standard. Seems good.

Anyone have any opinions on which of these is better?

I used to use Norton but it's a gawdawfull system hog. Then I dl'd a trial of PC-Cillin internet Security 2006 but found it clunky and didn't like it.

Answer:Kaspersky vs BitDefender ...Better Anti-Virus?

Bit Defender seems to always be on top of the leader boards and bench marks. How do youl like it? Does it use alot of system resources? How does it compare to the others? I have been thinking about switching from AVG to NOD32 or Bit Defender.

Hi, I've got a huge problem with my Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2009 not installing itself. Our computer really needs this, it is unprotected at this time. Can anyone help me?

Answer:Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2009

Was AVG previously installed? I can only guess what the problem might be--I don't use Kaspersky anymore and you haven't given much detail of what happens when you try to install. Tell us what you have done or tried to do and for more ideas--you might even figure out a solution yourself--try their support portal: the people at the support forum might know better what is going on--if anything they tell you is unclear you can ask here:

*I have Kaspersky Anti Virus Personal Pro 5.0

Answer:Kaspersky Anti-Virus problems

Yeah, they released a corrupt database. I was able to initiate an update and it downloaded the definitions for me. Apparently some people actually had to reinstall the program, so you may have to do that.

hello therei recently installed Kaspersky anti virus, on my windows xp sp2. However the Internet Explore seems to slow down after 20mins or so. So bad that i cannot even open a web page. But when i restart my computer it seems to work fine again for 20mins then the problem starts again. Is there something i should do to configure this?many thankszincy

Answer:Kaspersky anti virus problem

I've had a similar, but not necessarily the same, problem with "e.scan" which is "powered by Kaspersky" (I've posted this today under "Compatability problems"). Not only did my internet slow down, but my system ran at 50% speed (and, like you, it got worse after 20 mins). It seems to have been a compatability problem. After spending two days trying to solve this, I ended up removing the e.scan security suite - disappointing, since I liked it - and reverted back to my original anti-virus (AVG). The only good thing that came out of this was that e.scan couldn't find anything that AVG had missed. My problem might not be the same as yours, but my suggestion is that you look for anything that might be in conflict with your Kaspersky (and/or e-mail them at their support, if you think that'll help, with a list of your other protections). It's time someone came up with a freeware utility entitled "ConflictResolver".Good luck.

I ve been using Kaspersky Anti Virus and am happy with it. My subscription ran out a couple of days ago and I bought the 2013 version (had been using 2012). I downloaded it but cannot find where I need to put in the Activation Code. There is a place on the bottom right right which says "insert activation code" and I click on it and nothing happens. So, now what do I do - all the info I see online does nothing. I am using XP Professional on a Dell laptop and also a desktop (I can use the code on 3 machines). TIA. I will shut down because I don't want to leave things open all night with no protection.

Answer:Kaspersky Anti Virus 2013

I am using it for couple of months, and I am happy with current build This new C patch fixed many annoying problems After installing you should have picture like this:You need to type your activation code into 4 fields

I just installed the Kaspersky Anti Virus software and I have a couple of questions about the settings. According to the Kaspersky FAQ's the definitions are supposed to update every hour. I installed the AV software yesterday at this time and when I installed it I ran a manual Definition update to make sure I have the most recent Definitions. When I checked the computer today I noticed the program had not updated the Definitions which concerns me.

When I was looking around in the settings I notice that there is a setting that allows me to define when the program reaches out and checks for updated Definitions but according to Kaspersky it is supposed to do this on its own. I can set the program to check for updates to the definitions once a day but I don't want to cause a conflict within the Kaspersky software that will leave me without anti virus software. Has anyone else encountered this with the Kaspersky AV software?

Also, I see there are options to set automatic virus cans for both the Full scan and the Critical scan. Does Kaspersky default to an automatic scan or will I have to set up scans on my own?

Thanks all.
