Firefox 3.5.2 beta version released.

Question: Firefox 3.5.2 beta version released.

lotuseclat79 has put up a news item on the front page that Mozilla has come out with a beta version of an update to the previous 3.5.1 and now it's FF3.5.2 Beta.

The problem is when you download the file from the Mozilla website using the FF browser, when opening the installer file, a warning pops up " the installer comes from an untrusted source, the file is corrupted, click "no"! I save the installer file to the desktop and tried downloading both on-line and off-line with the same result as mentioned above!

Now, i go to the filehippo.com (see the snap below) and it's a totally cool download and hassles-free installation. All the Add-ons are checked for compatibility and all are accepted. Thanks!

Preferred Solution: Firefox 3.5.2 beta version released.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: Firefox 3.5.2 beta version released.

The www.filehippo.com site is 1 of 4 sites that I visit daily to look for and download program updates.

I've got Mozilla Firefox 3.5.1 installed. I've downloaded 3.5.2 Beta 1, but I haven't installed and tested it yet.

Hi all,
sorry for the delay with this beta, but it's finally here. We are now busy working on integration with AVG but I hope you will like the changes coming early next year (and yes HIPS included (wink) ) Main purpose of this beta to test its stability and get your feedback on the new UI. We didn't changed just the "face" but also the framework behind the UI so it gives us now much more flexibility in fixing various issues and bugs in the UI much faster than before.

We listened to the feedback, so there won't be color difference between Free and paid versions and all will be dark. Navigation moved back to the left side, and the window is now larger. We know it's not perfect now and we will work hard in the upcoming weeks to polish it for release quality.

Newest beta version: 12.4.2281

Changes:
+ Fully new UI framework with modern graphics
+ Removed screensaver and desktop gadget
+ Huge internal changes for product stabilization

Download links:
- BETA testing - Overview & Download links
Known issues:
+ Some UI parts are not fully finished yet, excuse glitches
+ SmartScan and Browser Cleanup not finished
+ UI glitches in some expiration messaging dialogs
+ Web shield problems on Win 10 internal preview
+ Passwords synchronization setup flows are broken

Share your feedback and opinions about the new UI here.

Hi all,
Various security applications like Kaspersky, MacAfee, Norton, Panda security, Bitdefender security and many other. these latest versions are designed to make them compatible with the latest Windows operating system, Windows 8. These applications have ability to detect and remove the recent malwares. They are having advanced features that are more powerful then the previous versions. Update your recent security application with the recent one, to secure your PC.

Answer:beta 2013 version is released of various security app.

A warning is appropriate about beta releases, especially when computer security is involved. The term Beta can mean a wide range of stages in completion of the final product (especially in regard to as yet unreleased W8) and the amount of internal testing made before offering it for public testing. Users should, as a general rule, not depend on beta releases for mission critical functionality for these reasons.

The third beta of the upcoming browser Firefox 3 has been released by the Mozilla Firefox team and is available for download in all supported languages and for all three operating systems on the official website. The setup file has a size of 6.65 Megabytes in Windows and downloads are astonishingly fast if you consider that Mozilla servers are normally overrun and crawling whenever a new Firefox release hits the net.
There have been a lot of fixes in the background and several new features and looks that are worth taking note of. Finally the new add-ons manager has been integrated which means that you can search and download new add-ons from within it. The new download manager comes to my mind as well adding more transparency to that process.
I guess I still prefer to use Download Statusbar instead if the author decides to port his add-on to Firefox 3. The speed of rendering webpages has been noticeably improved and more than 90 memory leaks have been fixed. Firefox 3 Beta 3 seems to render websites much faster than Firefox 2 does.
Two new security features have been added as well. One is a malware protection which warns the user if he visits a flagged website. The other new feature is called One-click site info which displays information like the site owner if you click on the website?s favicon.
For a list of all changes check out the release notes. Please note that this is still a beta release published for testing purposes.

Answer:Firefox 6 Beta released

Low and behold there I was happily surfing the Net and up pops this box saying Firefox 6.0B1 is ready to install, like it or not.

Installed with a little help from the installer. (see below)

However this release is so hurried or has so little change form 5.0 that even though the release is identified as 6.0 under Help ----About Firefox the introductory page that you get when Firefox updates says "Welcome to Firefox 5"

Four more things.

1. Out of my 20+ addons only two were incompatible with the update and I can live without those two as they only provide some nice to know but not necessary to know information.

2. The update updated to the Program Files(x86)\Mozilla Firefox\ directory. I guess with all of these updates Mozilla has dropped the release number from the Firefox top folder name.

3. The auto install did not work for me, my guess is due to security restrictions. However I went to the Beta website, 6.0 is now there, downloaded the installer and installed 6.0B1 with that. No problems so far.

4. Since this installed into the Program Files (x86) directory path this version of Firefox 6.0B1 that I installed is the x32 version. I tried installing the 6.0 Aurora x64 on one computer a month or so ago. While it installed I couldn't get it to work so I just uninstalled it. I will stay with x32 for now. I don't know if there is as of yet a 6.0B1 for the x64 version.

P.S. I wonder what the odds are that someone will start a new thread on the 6... Read more

Answer:Firefox 3.6.4 Beta 4 Released

Quote:
Firefox 3.6.4 Inches Forward, New Beta Download Available.

The next update to Firefox 3.6 inches forward with Mozilla hammering away at the upcoming release, but with slow progress so far. In all fairness, Firefox 3.6.4 is a shift from the refreshes that are served to major versions of the open source browser. In this regard, unlike normal, minor updates focused on delivering stability improvements and security patches, version 3.6.4 is a Frankenstein build, having swallowed codename Lorentz and Firefox 3.7 in order to offer users Out of Process Plugins as soon as possible. At the end of the past week, Mozilla made available for download a new development milestone of Firefox 3.6.4, as it prepares to launch the fully fledged update.

"Firefox 3.6.4 provides uninterrupted browsing for Windows and Linux users when there is a crash in the Adobe Flash, Apple Quicktime or Microsoft Silverlight plugins,? an excerpt from the release notes accompanying v.3.6.4 Beta (Build 4) reads. ?If a plugin crashes or freezes, it will not affect the rest of Firefox. You will be able to reload the page to restart the plugin and try again.?

OOPP was the feature that justified Firefox 3.7 for Mozilla. In this sense, when the decision was made to offer OOPP to Firefox 3.6.x users, all plans for Firefox 3.7 were folded. Mozilla already confirmed officially that Firefox 4.0 would be the next major release of the open source browser, a milestone that is currently planned for l... Read more

The next beta of Firefox 3 has been uploaded to the Mozilla ftp site and is currently distributed to all mirror websites to ensure speedy downloads when the announcement is made on the official website. You can already grab it from several mirrors so if you want to avoid slow connections and downloads to the server once everyone starts downloading it.
The official release notes to not state what has been updated and changed in this new release but there will surely be an announcement soon about this. The new release is entitled release candidate as well.
I did discover only one new improvement so far that was announced on the gemal blog. It stated that Firefox 3 beta 5 will have improved connection parallelism. What this means is a increase in simultaneous connections which should make Firefox even faster if you have not altered the settings yet.

A portable version can also be found here: MEGAUPLOAD - The leading online storage and file delivery service

I know people can be wary about downloading from file sharing websites, such as megaupload, so I have included a Jotti virus scan result (I would've used virustotal if it would connect)

Enjoy folks!

Firefox 4 Beta

Beta version 1: released July 6th, 2010
These are the release notes for the first version of the Firefox 4 Beta, based on the Gecko 2.0 Web platform. Please read below for more detailed information about what's new in this version of the beta release, as well as the known issues.

We rely on your feedback to help shape our products, so we've bundled a Feedback Add-On with the Firefox 4 Beta that provides an easy to use Feedback button.

Get it now: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/beta/My initial non-scientific testing has been positive. 90% of my addons worked fine once I installed the Addon Compatibility Reporter addon which re-enables all addons and allows you to report back to Mozilla which ones work and which ones don't.Overall, Firefox 4 beta 1 seems only a little different from my faithful 3.6. Sure, the tabs are now placed along the top but I can see myself getting used to that.Things do seem more snappy and responsive. And there seems to be a significant, quantifiable, improvement in Javascript execution. I ran both Firefox 3.6 and 4.0b1 through a little benchmark I found online wherein Firefox 4.0b was rated as 266% time faster in executing Javascript.

Answer:Firefox 4 beta 1 released!

Firefox 4.0 does not show tabs on the top side of window in Windows XP. The putting of tabs on top and Firefox button on top-left, looks like a copy of Opera style.

Firefox 3.6.4 Beta Released
Firefox 3.6.4 has been in the talks lately because of the intention of the Mozilla developers to add out-of-process plugins to that version of the web browser which basically means that popular plugins run in their own process instead of the main browser process. This is beneficial in case of a plugin crash as it will only take down its own process and not the whole web browser.
The feature was first introduced in the development release Firefox 3.6.3 Plugin 1 and has been carried over to the first beta release of Firefox 3.6.4.
The major feature of the beta is the out-of-process functionality. But the new version fixes several security and stability issues in Firefox 3.6.3 as well.

LastPass, creators of the password management service of the same name, have released a beta version of LastPass for Firefox that is compatible with Firefox 57 and newer versions of the web browse.

Mozilla plans to end support for legacy add-ons with the release of Firefox 57 on November 14th, 2017. While users may switch to Firefox ESR or use the Nightly version to extend support for legacy add-ons, it is likely that most Firefox users won't go down that route.

Companies and developers need to release WebExtensions versions of their add-ons to ensure compatibility with Firefox 57, and to make sure that users keep on using the add-ons.

LastPass is a popular extension for Firefox. It has over 646,000 thousand active users at the time of writing. The company released a beta version of the upcoming WebExtensions version of LastPass earlier today.

If you are currently using Mozilla Firefox 1.5.0.4, the install of Mozilla Firefox 2.0 Beta 1 will not interfere with nor overwrite 1.5.0.4.

2.0 Beta 1 will install in a separate folder in C:\Program Files and will allow you to run it independent of 1.5.0.4.

Firefox 3.6.4 Beta Build 6 Released, Final Next Week
The Mozilla Firefox developers have released a new beta build of the upcoming Firefox 3.6.4 web browser which is already available through the internal update checker in Firefox.
Firefox 3.6.4 Beta Build 6 is very close to the final version of Firefox 3.6.4 which is expected to be released on June 1, 2010. The release notes have not been updated yet which makes it difficulty to find out what has changed in this new build.
There are no apparent changes visible on first glance and the biggest new feature of Firefox 3.6.4, the out-of-process plugins, have already been enabled. It is likely that the developers have sorted out some bugs related to this new feature.

Source-------------- http://www.ghacks.net/2014/12/18/de...locker-extension-µblock-for-firefox-released/

If you are running an ad-blocker or script-blocker in a browser, you may experience high memory usage because of it.

Depending on how it is working, it may bring the memory easily over the 1 Gigabyte mark. One test to find out how well your extension works is to load the VIM Color Scheme Test website.

If you are using Windows, hit Ctrl-Shift-Esc prior to that to monitor the browser process or processes to see if loading the page increases the memory use of it significantly.

The Chrome extension µBlock has been designed as a lightweight alternative for those heavy ad-blocking extensions. I reviewed the extension back in June for the first time and found it to be light on resources and excellent in regards to the blocking of contents on the Internet.

It is using filter lists of which several are used by default including popular lists such as Easy Privacy, Easy List or Peter Lowe's ad server list.

is possible to subscribe to more lists and even add your own rules to the extension in Chrome.

The author of the extension revealed recently that he is working on a Firefox port. Even better, a sample Firefox add-on file was posted at the same time that users can check out.

The released add-on is a work in progress and not complete yet but it shows that the author is dedicated to bring the extension to Firefox.

Firefox 28 for Windows, Mac, Linux, and Android has been released. For Android, version 28 adds a lot of cool features ? such as predictive lookup from the address (Awesome) bar, the addition of quick share buttons, and support for OpenSearch. On the desktop side of the equation, though, Firefox 28 adds support for the VP9 video codec? and that?s about it. Why I hear you ask? Well, Firefox 28 was meant to include the long-awaited Windows 8 Metro version of the browser ? but at the last minute, citing almost zero demand for Windows 8′s Metro interface, Mozilla?s vice president for Firefox decided to terminate the project and pull the code out of version 28.

from ExtremeTech

I'm shocked, but I wonder how well it would have done. I still hope that they will released it in its entirety to the public.

I need to update Firefox to latest non-beta version.

I think it is version 47.0 now ?

How do I install new version yet not losing all the data settings like bookmarks
and history etc.. from the version I am using currently ?

Is there a settings file I should save to backup first before I install new non-beta version ? If so, how and from where do I find it to save it ?

Thanks

Zhong

Answer:I need to update Firefox to latest non-beta version.

Updating doesn't lose that info. It's in your FF Profile. In FF, just go to Help>About FF and Update occurs automatically. Bookmarks can always be saved on a detachable medium. Also, your backups, if you do them save all your personal data.

I was using Firefox 40 Beta 64bit version in Windows 7 but it was not so smooth.

But Firefox 40 Beta 64bit version in Windows 10 is so smooth. Its feels so crisp & responsive and does not feel like a beta version at all. I think Firefox 64bit version is going to be a great release and I can't wait to see the new appearance for Windows 10.

So if you are using Windows 10, then I strongly suggest you to try the 64bit version of Firefox.

Privacy/Security Add-ons:

Ublock Origin (Adblocker for power users) or Ublock (Adblocker for average users)
NoScript (Must Install)

Privacy Badger (Recommended)

HTTPS-Everywhere (Optional)

Its better to install Privacy Badger & HTTPS-Everywhere add-ons from https://www.eff.org/ as they provide the most up-to-date versions. Don't worry about installing software from https://www.eff.org/ as they are one of the few organizations that care about user privacy in the Internet.
PS: Beta version may have security holes, so think thrice before installing beta softwares.

Answer:Firefox 40 Beta 64bit version is so smooth in Windows 10

Your not kidding here. It is smooth on Windows 10. Also as fast as Chrome x64 (in my opinion anyway - every system is different). I always prefer using the parent instead of a child/build off like Cyberfox since you get faster patches, better support, etc. so now I have an excuse to use Firefox proper again. Never heard of Privacy Badger but will check it out.

Thank you for the post. Didn't know Firefox was actually planning a stable release for x64 of Firefox. I also see that version 40 added full support for Windows 10. It's great that they didn't rush the support as that normally results in problems.

The latest wave of upcoming changes to the world's two most used Web browsers, jointly responsible for easily three-fourths of the Internet's HTTP requests, has nearly everyone in the business rethinking the meaning of "quality" as it pertains to browser architecture. While their arguments start with the usual reminders that folks just want to see their pages load faster, before too long, they wander into dissertations about the methods architects use to achieve the appearance of loading faster. . . especially when they actually don't.

In preparing to test Microsoft's first Internet Explorer 9 public beta, released last week, and Mozilla's public Firefox 4 beta, released late last month, the advice I received most often fell into two departments: 1) Pay more attention to graphics rendering, since new browsers will be spending more time processing Web apps than just displaying pages; 2) start paying attention to how browsers utilize memory and CPU cycles. Since my smarter readers are typically right, that's what I've done in crafting my all-new browser performance test suite.

In the first round of total scores for the latest beta builds, the first IE9 beta has squeaked by the latest FF4 beta by about 8%. These scores take into account four major departments: computational ability (30%), rendering ability (30%), scalability (losing less processing ability over time as processing jobs scale up, 20%), and now, hardware utilization efficiency (20%). In... Read more

Answer:Firefox 4 beta loses to IE9 beta in browser speed, efficiency tests

I'm all for fast processing on my computer, but I'll be honest in that I don't really feel much difference whatsoever between IE, Firefox, Chrome and Opera and it's been like that for me over the past 2-3 years. My reasons for liking Firefox so much have to do with features coming sooner (pop-up blocker, tabbed browsing, add-on support, tear off tabs) and familiarity with the product(when you spend so much time with something, it becomes second nature.). So, for me, unless another tool comes that does something radically better, I'm not even inclined to give the other products a chance. People can rant and rave about speed all they want...but it's one of the lowest factors in the mix for me.

Finally, after some time now, Opera 10.5 beta has been released.

You can download it from Opera Web Site.

From I?ve been testing, this browser is not crashing as 10.5 pre alpha did.

It?s super fast and very stable.

Plus a very nice looking UI

Answer:Opera 10.5 Beta Released.

I think this has been covered already.

Opera-The fastest browser!

Still not as fast as the latest dev builds of Chrome.

The Trend Micro site and the MajorGeeks site are listing version 2.0.5 beta of HiJackThis as being released, however I discovered that it's the same version 2.0.4 and the same 1.33 MB file size that's been out for quite awhile.

If anyone is considering downloading and installing it and using it, they might want to wait until it's confirmed that version 2.0.5 beta has been released and the download links are fixed.

Change log

Download 8 beta 2

In the change log, you'll notice document.selection support for forms. That means that you can finally select something in the compose box for these forums and embed that selection in color tags (for example).

Also, that means inserting smilies will insert at the caret position instead of at the end of the textarea. (Finally)

However, in these forums, the inserting smiley part doesn't insert at the caret position for Opera beta 2. It does work at the vBulletin-based techguy forums though.

If you use Opera, I recommend you update to 8 beta 2 (clean, separate install). (For security reasons and feature reasons. Plus plugin support is better. 7.54u2 is just not as advanced when it comes to html/dom support).

BTW, they have a handle on the IDN spoofing.

It's a good update. (especially if you are coming from 7.54u2).

thanks for the heads up.

opera for life!

M$ has released IE9 today. I feel it's better than IE8, especially when visiting webpages full of images. Although right now, IE is not my main browser (nor will I ever consider to switch back to IE until IE9 goes gold), what do you guys think of it?

Answer:IE9 beta has been released today.

Haven't tried it yet.  Do you know what happens when the final/official version of IE9 is released for people who have installed IE9 beta?  Will they need to uninstall the beta version and install the official version or will the beta version get updates as needed to make it, in effect, become the final version?

Piriforms new Defraggler 2.0 Beta version is available. Changelog below.

   Information

Today marks a milestone in the Defraggler product history. After nearly a year of development and testing, we're proud to release the first test version of the new Defraggler v2.0!
This new release pushes the capabilities of Defraggler far beyond any other free defragmentation tool, by offering complete offline defrag during the boot process with full OS support.
Additionally the UI has been improved with a new Drive Map and customizations. We've also rearchitected the internal defrag processes to make it faster and more efficient!
This is a Beta version, so we don't recommend it for general usage just yet. We're confident it's bug free, but please only use it on test systems until we release the final build. Don't worry this will be in weeks, not months.

Download Defraggler v2.0 beta now from our Download Center.

Answer:Defraggler 2.0 Beta Released

I used JK Defrag, which is now MyDefrag. In part, I was excited to have 64-bit software. Now, of course, there is a great deal more 64-bit sw.

I love what Pinform has done with all their software, and will need to try defraggler.

Just got the December Winpatrol newsletter and apparently WinAntiRansom just got released (now out of beta). I tried it a couple times in beta and it had some issues/weirdness/lack of usefulness then that kept me from even bothering to mess with it, even though I bought a couple lifetime licenses out of loyalty due to my years of using winpatrol. Here's to hoping it's a worthwhile product. The beta forums weren't very positive =( WinAntiRansom

WinAntiRansom Released Today!
Declare WAR on Ransomware!
That's right, we are officially releasing WinAntiRansom today!

WinAntiRansom does the following:

Detects and blocks known Ransomware from multiple industry sources!
Detects and blocks most Malware and other suspicious programs!
Gives you the to power to block any program you want. (Like the annoying Windows 10 update programs so many of you have asked us for help in blocking.)
Uses whitelisting technology to prevent unwanted programs from touching the data you place in your SafeZone.
Kills programs behaving badly... But gives you the ability to easily allow (whitelist) any programs(s) with the click of the mouse.
Stop Ransomware in it's tracks! Kill it BEFORE it encyrpts your data!

WinAntiRansom (like all of our products) is compatible with all other security products. It was designed to run in support of other security products, as a part of a layered security solution.

Answer:WinAntiRansom Released (beta is over)

Hi,
Thanks but the second link on your post look a little suspicious, it just redirect to winpatrol's website.

It works great, so far. There has been a few things removed for this beta, but will most likely be added in the future; i.e buttons. There's also some new and anticipated features, but you'll have to check the release notes and give it a whirl. Again, this is a beta, so while some things may not work well, please just submit the proper bug reports and give the author some patience to smooth out the issues.

Answer:Ultramon 3.0.0 (beta 1) released!

Thanks!! I've been waiting for this.. Thanks for the head up.. Going to go d/l it right now..

Doctor Web informs users about the release of Dr.Web anti-virus 7.0 beta for Android.

Currently the beta-version is available for free downloading from Android Market and runs under Android 2.1 and later. The updated anti-virus features the improved user interface and the Cloud Checker component. This module uses a cloud technology to scan links opened in a browser. As the user clicks on a link, it is sent automatically to the cloud service which determines whether the target web-site is safe and checks if it falls into an objectionable content category If the address is found in the objectionable or bogus site database, access to the web-page is blocked. In addition, the updated program includes several functional improvements.

Dr.Web 7.0 beta for Android comes with a limited validity key file. In addition to anti-Virus and Cloud Checker modules the application also includes anti-thief and anti-spam components.Click to expand...

Source Opera 10 Beta 2 Released

Opera 10 Beta 2 was released earlier today by the Opera development team. Users who are already using a version of Opera 10 should consider upgrading to this new release which brings it one step closer to the first release candidate. The changelog lists many changes for this release especially for the Opera user interface, mail, chat and news, display and scripting, security and network. The Windows changelog alone lists more than 100 items that have been added, changed or fixed in Opera 10 Beta 2.
Many users in the Opera forum are reporting problems with the new beta release. The developers are actually warning users stating that it ?may have severe known issues, including crashes and data loss situations?. That?s not very encouraging and it is therefor suggested to try the web browser in a test environment and not in a productive environment to ensure that it is working without problems.
