Solved: Images won't load in Firefox- AV or firewall's fault?

Question: Solved: Images won't load in Firefox- AV or firewall's fault?

Slow browsing... images take a long time to load in Firefox. Could my AV (Avast) or firewall (Comodo) or spybot have anything to do with this?

Sometimes, a site will just hang and never fully load. I tried updating java, but that didn't hep.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Preferred Solution: Solved: Images won't load in Firefox- AV or firewall's fault?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hello

I've run into a very weird problem with FireFox. It won't load any images all of a sudden.

I was browsing along, everything was fine, then the page refreshed itself, and all the images were gone (I was on TSF).

Everything works in IE (which is weird cause it's usually the other way round). I'm using version 2.0.0.11 (updated itself today) though the problem start just before the new version installed itself.

Anyone know what's going on?

Thanks for reading

I'm experiencing this problem when I search for images on google, only some of the images appear in search result while on IE all images load. And also when i was using the edit option on Photobucket on firefox, the image was reduce and when i tried to enlarge it I can't see the full image unlike on IE. I'm not sure how to explain it but those issues I mentioned above didn't happen before when I was using firefox. I thought  NoScript add on that I have on firefox might have block something but that doesnt seem to be the case when i disable it. So if anyone have any clue then Im really appreciated. I screen shot the issues so you can understand better. Thanks in advance [recovering disk space - old attachment deleted by admin]

I have a HP Pavilion zv5000 laptop running Windows XP. Whenever I view a picture on the internet, the picture loads very fuzzy and looks like a lot of the pixels in the picture have merged together into blobs. This makes the pictures hard to see and basically useless. This happens when I am using both Internet Explorer and Mozilla Firefox.

When I save a picture to my hardrive and open using a picture viewer, the picture still looks fuzzy. However, if I take a picture with my digital camera and import it onto my hardrive, it looks fine, crystal clear and not fuzzy at all.

Amazingly, about once of out 100 times I start my computer, this problem doesn't occur and the pictures load perfectly clear on Mozilla Firefox and IE. However, the next time I start my computer, the pictures are back to loading fuzzy.

Any ideas on what is wrong and how to fix it?

I have a very strange problem. I have three systems that just received a fresh install of Windows XP. I've installed all the latest security updates and the system has nuSecure as it's anti-virus software. For some reason, and this happens with all three systems, when I visit sites sometimes they load correctly and sometimes they don't. When they don't, the images are red X's (as if it couldn't retrieve it).

I've reset winsock, reinstalled Java, disabled anti-virus and repaired network connection. These systems are fresh installs of Windows XP. I had set them up at my house and I don't recall having any of these issues. After I restored them, I brought them to the other location and this problem continues. Any ideas what could be causing it? I'm leaning towards internet related but I wanted to exhaust all options first.

Thanks in advance!

Answer:Some images do not load and display a red X on IE, Chrome and Firefox

Are you saying that this same thing happens on 3 machines? Have you tried disabling any web-filtering that your anti-malware programs may have?

Have you made any changes to your TCP settings? Have you used any "tweaking" programs that customize settings for Windows?

Update on problem:
Say I want to browse the "post your workstation" thread, and I get to it by clicking on a link to the thread under "Last Post". Of course, the thread opens with the page scrolled to the last post, because that's what you clicked on. So, you hit the Home key to scroll to the top of the thread, because you want to read the whole thing. The images are loading, and there's no problem, but as soon as the LAST image finishs loading, the page jumps to the very last post, which is annoying when you have to go back and find your place again. That's what's driving me insane.

So, is there any way that you guys know of to disable it? Thanks

--------------- Original Post --------------

You know how if you go to, say, the 2005 Post your Workstation thread, and while the images are loading, you scroll down the page to read posts / look at the pictures, and once the images are done loading, it automatically scrolls the page to the last picture posted on said page?

I find this really annoying, so is there any way to disable it? Did some googling, and all I could find was stuff on "autoscrolling", which isn't this... Thanks!

Hi there -- I have mozilla firefox which has been working properly for a very long time...more than a year and a half, but something is wrong now. All images on a web page rarely load properly, and sometimes when I click a link, it takes me to a new tab and opens a single solitary random photo. It seems like a cookies problem, but the browser is running slower. I ran ediwo malware search and it "fixed" approximately 400 items on my computer. These were not on there when I ran ewido a couple weeks ago. Ad aware also found two items which have also been fixed but the overall problem is not.

Even Tech Support Guy web site looks weird...very simple, almost plain text like.

HELP!

Thank you.
Dan

Answer:Mozilla Firefox not running properly. Images/links load improperly

Does it look something like this here in the screen shot. I edit out the right side but this is how the page looks in the No-Style setting.
Go up to View and then down to Page Style and then See if Basic Page Style is checked and not the No-Style or it will look like the screen shot.

i'm kind of experiencing the same problem that smilesgirl had..this was her thread.

http://www.techsupportforum.com/micr...-websites.html

this time its with this website called friendster.
i don't know what to do..
it started yesterday..i can't seem to view most of my friends photos all of a sudden..they turn to icons with red X's even if i keep on refreshing it over and over.
i thought it had something to do with the site itself because using her account, my sister can't view her friends either.
this morning i tried checking it out again but it's still the same thing.
i asked my friend who has a pc at her home as well to check if she is having the same problem with friendster as i am. she told me her account was working well and she can view all of her friends pictures.
i got scared so i ran NOD32..it detected some viruses but i was able to delete it.
i checked with the site..nothing still.
i installed a free version of LAVASOFT AD-AWARE 2008 and scanned my computer again.
same thing..i checked with the site but i still can't view the pictures.
i have two browsers..IE and mozilla. i can't view my friends' photos from either site.
please help..

it started last monday..
this involved a website called friendster.
up until monday i could view all my pictures and everything was working fine.
then all of a sudden not all pictures would load..i can't see my most friend's photos..just icons with red x's.
initially i thought nothing of it..thinking it just had something to do with the site. my sister, using her account, can view her friends' photos either.
i checked the following day and it was still the same. so i asked a friend of mine who has a pc at home to check if friendster isn't working for her as well. she told me the pictures were loading fine.
so i ran a scan using NOD32. it detected some viruses but was able to remove them. i forgot what they were. then i checked the site but it was still the same. i downloaded a free version of LAVASOFT AD-AWARE 2008 then ran a scan again. checked the site again..same thing.

i have two browsers IE and firefox..the images won't load on both.

initially i thought i had the same problem as the girl i found having a thread in this website..that's why i asked for help here..

this was my original thread:

I run both IE 8 and Firefox on my Dell Dimension system. I'm having problems now with both browsers taking forever to load. This may be a virus or network problem. IE 8 just loaded now after 15 minutes (exactly - I timed it).

Details:
- Once it's loaded once, both browsers load in normal amounts of time.
- I haven't downloaded any new add-ons lately unless one browser or the other installed one in the background.
- The problem just started today after a reboot.
- I've also noticed that my network icon in the taskbar doesn't show up anymore when I first boot but by the time IE opens, it has showed up.
- Using ipconfig, I did determine that I am on the network and connected immediately after boot up (router also shows me connected immediately).
- I've tried running IE from the command line with iexplore.exe -extoff. It didn't make any difference. I don't know if this works with IE 8 though.
- When I click to open either web browser, the process shows up right away in Task Manager and remains.
- I have all the latest updates to both browsers that I know of.
- I've run a complete system scan with McAfee (fully updated as of today.)

Now I've run out of ideas on what to try. I appreciate any help!

Thanks!
Alec

I'm having problems loading images on a website - http://www.primaryarms.com/ - but it's only my computer. Tested on another computer on the same network, and the site loads fine.

so I've eliminated:

The site
The router

Ive tried disabling my AV (Kaspersky pure 3.0) - no luck
Disabling firewall - no luck (however I had this problem a week ago and "defaulting" the firewall solved the problem)
updateing directx, java, activex, gfx drivers - no luck.

any ideas? does this in every browser, firefox, chrome, and IE.

I had to restart a thread because the other one expired. I'm not the most teckie person, but I can usually research the internet enough to find an answer or solution. I'm stuck and it's driving me crazy

I had IE8 on my computer and noticed that on some of my favorite websites, I was getting the dreaded red X. I decide to install Google Chrome to see if I would have the same issue. Using Google Chrome on the same websites - no red X's. Unfortunately, I do not love Google Chrome (font issue, bookmark manager - just prefer the IE features).

I thought maybe the issue was with IE8 so I unistalled it and it reverted back to IE7 - but I'm still having the same issues.

I do have Norton Antivirus running but I figured it can not be that because it is not causing an issue in Google Chrome - right?

I research the Microsoft website...My "Show Pictures" option is turned on...I've tried all their trouble shooting, but I must still be missing something.

The one thing I did notice is that when I click on the red X and hit properties - they all seem to come up as HTML. (Sorry - this is where I'm totally clueless) Do they come up as HTML as a default? Some of these red X's are videos and some I believe are just pictures. Is this image type not supported by IE? I know that I have always used IE as my default browser, but I have not always had this issue.

What am I missing?

Thanks!

Hi guys and gals,

Just to start off with, I searched the forums and came up with this thread which seemed related to my problem but didn't solve it:
http://forums.techguy.org/t389138&highlight=firefox+images+pictures.html

Just finished moving and unloaded my computer yesterday. Everything is running fine but for some reason Firefox doesn't want to load a lot of images from different web pages

So far I've noticed it specifically on IMDB.com and Fotki.com. It has also happened on some other random pages but I can't think of them offhand. Here is a link to a random Fotki album which is still loading in a different tab as I type: http://public.fotki.com/NawtyNatalie01/summer_in_the_city-1/

If I open the exact same page in IE it loads almost instantly. Like I mentioned earlier, I followed the advice in a different thread an cleared the cache and history to no avail. Using Firefox 1.0.6 and XP SP2.

Any ideas?

Hi,

I have come across a strange problem with Firefox (2.0.0.6). It has started only downloading images in very low quality - this means that transparency comes out as a grey box and every image seems to be in 16 colours or similar - where it looks flat and photos look very blurred - like they've got glue on them on or something. IE does not have this problem.

I have recently been using my laptop to get online via my phone, which acts as a modem and gives access to the net via the mobile phone network. The throughput on this is smaller than normal broadband - that may have something to do with it. But I'm now back on normal internet, have restarted etc, and still Firefox is only downloading images in low quality. Does anyone have any ideas on how to fix this?

Thanks for your help!

Is there a plug-in, add-on, or any way at all to make it so that images viewed in Firefox, and images alone, are brighter than everything else? So text won't be affected, nor plain solid colors used as background colors for web pages. The reason being that my computer's brightness, contrast, and gamma are all set to 0% thru the NVIDIA Control Panel for the sake of my eyes (when I watch movies they're way too dark this way so I set them instead at 50%, but once I close the movie I have to set them back to 0% because the brightness attacks my eyes otherwise). I'm happy with that minimum brightness level in every way except images. I always wished any and all images--jpgs, pngs, gifs, bmps, etc.--could have their own brightness setting, either on my computer as a whole or just in my Firebox browser. I'd like to make all images and only images about 25-75% brighter than normal. I don't need suggestions to increase the general brightness, even a little, or else my eyes will notice the difference because even just a basic solid white background like the one I'm typing on now would then be too bright for my liking.
Again, I'm only looking for a way to make all images, even if just limited to specifically jpgs, gifs, and pngs, receive their own brightness level, separate from anything else, either all images viewed on the machine, or, what I assume is more likely to exist, just all images viewed on the Firefox browser. I've been manually setting the brightness level myself when I'd ... Read more

Im currently running windows xp home edition 2002 sp3 pentium 4, approx 3 ghz. My computer runs/starts normal and as usual when viewing files or playing games. HOWEVER, whenever i open IE or Firefox the cpu immedietely jumps to 100% and takes 40 seconds to load. Though once the browser is loaded, internet browsing speed is as normal. I recently had problems with Jushed.exe and CFPupdate.exe taking 100% cpu and i removed comodo firewall and took care of the java update problem. Im thinking there was a possiblity it was conflicting with my firewall, but i removed it and the problem persists. What i find unusual is that BOTH browsers load very slowly and use all CPU. I don't know if my problem is Firefox or WordPress but I thought I'd try here first.
I use WordPress to publish articles and usually copy and paste from the finished article in the Articles forum to WordPress but since I reinstalled Win 7 this no longer works as paste is no longer an option when I right click in WordPress, or at least in the particular part that I need it to. I can, however, do it in Internet Explorer, but images aren't copied over, which they used to be. I've tried all the usual things like clearing the cache, but nothing has worked. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Answer:Is this Win 7 or Firefox at fault? Moved from Mozilla/Firefox browsers

Hi,
I am using Win-7 too but I haven't used IE. So my suggestion is to, try another browser for the same purpose and then see the effects (I feel firefox is well suited for the purpose). If you are getting same problems then, you are missing with some features of Win-7 otherwise, it is the website issue.

Friday night I ran the online version of nod32. Because it installs an active X component I had to use Internet Explorer. Firefox has been my default browser for years. While running nod32 I was aware something was not quite right because an action that should've opened Firefox opened IE. Afterwards I rebooted and everything seemed to be fine.

This morning Firefox will not open. For an instant an icon appears as it normally does while Firefox is loading but it quickly goes away. Using IE I downloaded another copy of Firefox and installed it with the same result. As a test I downloaded Opera and it runs fine.

Where should I've been looking for some setting that is interfering with Firefox?

Hello, I am curethritis running Windows 8 On a 6-month old Toshiba Satellite. Everything was fine until two days ago when After a Firefox update the browser stopped loading any websites. Thinking something went wrong with the update I uninstalled Firefox, and opened IE to download it again. This is when I realized IE was having the same issue.

To clarify, my wifi connection is fine. Outlook and other web-based programs are working fine. I pinged Google.com through Command Prompt, and the results indicate a good connection to the Internet (average response 17ms). Also, dropbox is updating without any problem.

As soon as I am able to load and run TSG SysInfo I will post the results.

Answer:Solved: Firefox and IE will not load websites

Could be a firewall or security suite blocking your browsers. Or may need the following ...

TCP/IP stack repair options for use with Vista and 7 and 8.

Start - All Programs - Accessories and right click on Command Prompt, select "Run as Administrator" to open a command prompt. [For Windows 8: <Windows Logo> + x - Command Prompt(Admin)]

Reset WINSOCK entries to installation defaults: netsh winsock reset catalog

Reset IPv4 TCP/IP stack to installation defaults. netsh int ipv4 reset reset.log

Reset IPv6 TCP/IP stack to installation defaults. netsh int ipv6 reset reset.log

Reboot the machine.

Does anyone know what the problem might be? I get mail from this web site (it is an environmental site) so apparently I have been there before, but I always get the "Unable to connect...can't establish a connection..." message. Always, whether I use Firefox or IE. I have tried many times over the last few months - the site cannot be that busy every single time I try to visit it, night or day, can it? I have not had this problem with any other site on the internet. I have run all my security software several times and nothing ever shows up. Could I inadvertently have blocked this web site in either Zone Alarm or AVG? If so, how?

Any suggestions very much appreciated. Thank you, Cheryl

Answer:Solved: Neither Firefox or IE will load care2.com

That site works fine for me using Opera and Firefox so the problems must be with a setting on your computer.

One possibility is that the URL for www.care2.com has somehow got added to your Hosts file, assuming you have one. If you use Spybot you definitely will have a Hosts file and you can check by doing a 'Find Files' search for 'hosts'. Mine is 68KB and I used Wordpad to open it.

If you find a Hosts file I'm afraid you will have to scroll down it and look for the care.com URL and, if you find it, delete it, reboot and try to access the site again. I know this has worked at least once for someone that had problems accessing only one site, so it might just help you as well.

If it doesn't help it will have eliminated one possibility and 'bumped' your post back to the top!

When I run IE I get the error "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage" - no matter what webpage I am trying to access. I have no trouble with Firefox though. I used to be able to use IE but I am not sure when exactly it stopped working (since I so rarely use it). I have tried downloading the newest version of IE with no success.
I have Comcast internet service, TrendMicro PC-Illin Security software (firewall/virus protection), and am running on an eMachine computer running WinXp Home Edition, Service Pack 2. IE LAN's setting is set to "Automatically detect settings". Any help getting IE to work would be appreciated. Thanks.

Not sure if this is the right forum to post this question in but here goes anyway...

I've been having problems accessing certain websites the last week and a half. Prior to this I haven't had any problems accessing the sites. I tried in both firefox and IE and both show a connection time out whenever I try to access the sites. I have cleared my Windows DNS cache and checked my firewalls and I still can't get access to the websites, specifically http://pitas.com, http://eat.pizzahuthawaii.com, http://zshare.net .

I am able to get into http://megaupload.com but whenever I try to download a file from there it gives me a timeout error. Also when I try to load google by google.com, it takes forever to load up the website.

The only firewall program that I'm running is windows firewall. I have the current Firefox 2.0.0.12 and my antivirus is McAffee but it doesn't contain a firewall. I am able to access all of these sites from other computers (at work) but not at home.

Does anyone have an idea as to what might be happening and can help me?

Hi I am a firefox user For the last couple of days I can't get it to load. I deleted Reminderfox about that time and installed Essential IPIM (Free Version) in its place. When I deleted ReminderFox I may have deleted parts of FF as well. I have since deleted and re-installed FF but this has not helped. Any ideas?

Answer:Solved: Firefox wont load

This probably messed up your firefox profile, which in turn could be why firefox will not load. Read through this link here to set up a new profile to see if that works.

https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/profile-manager-create-and-remove-firefox-profiles

Let us know how it goes ; )

EDIT : Just remembered, before you do that see if it firefox boots up with add-ons disabled, to do this start hold down the shift key while starting Firefox, and see if it runs if it does try disabling add-ons in safe mode then re-enable one at a time until you find the one that is causing the issue, then remove it.

Hi everyone,

I'm new to this forum as I recently have encounted a problem when surfing the net. Over time I have had some websites that I commonly view not load up in the browser any more. These websites do not load up in IE or Firefox, however they work on any other computer or free web proxy.

Website eg: www.digidesign.com

I've followed some other posts here and will post a Hijack This Log and a SuperAntispyware log.

If someone can give me some support on this your help is much appreciated.

Answer:Solved: Websites no longer load in IE or Firefox

Hi, Welcome to TSG!!

Please print these instructions for reference, as you will have to restart your computer during the fix.

Please download FixWareout from Here or Here.

Note: You will need to run this tool while having an Internet Connection. The tool will download other files while running.

Save it to your desktop and run it. Click Next, then Install, make sure "Run fixit" is checked and click Finish.
The fix will begin; follow the prompts.
If your firewall gives an alert, (because this tool will download an additional files from the internet), please don't let your firewall block it, but allow it instead.
You will be asked to reboot your computer; please do so. Your system may take longer than usual to load; this is normal.
Once the desktop loads a text file will open (report.txt).
Please post the C:\fixwareout\report.txt ), along with a new HijackThis log into this thread.

Recently, I've installed the Windows Service Pack 3 for Windows XP. May or may not be the problem, but ever since, Firefox has not worked properly. It will not load pages and results in the "Network Timeout" error page. What is strange is that it does load my school email account which is held server side at the university. I am currently on a VPN network, but have had no problems with firefox in the past. Also, IE works properly, but Firefox refuses to load anything but my server side email account. I do not have a firewall on my computer and I have turned off windows firewall to no avail.

I have already deleted my profile for firefox and uninstalled/reinstalled and it did not help at all.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I have not had any problems prior to a couple of days ago. My wife has, over time, loaded a large number of bookmarks into the computer. First of all let's check you have no extension issues causing your problems. Start Firefox in Safe Mode (from Start > Programs) and if it loads normally and your bookmark access is trouble free then I'd suggest it was an extension problem. If so, disable all your extensions (while in Safe Mode) and close Firefox. Re-open Firefox normally and enable your extensions 1 or 2 at a time (then close and re-open Firefox) to find the culprit(s).

Howdy Ya'll Being on dialup, I've done all I can to make using the internet as efficient as possible. I use Firefox browser and have installed the AdBlock Plus add on. That works really well, BTW. Additionally, I've installed a 3rd party addon called Preloader from Sourceforge. Once a page is loaded, revisiting that page is real snappy.

What this post is all about is every time I reboot my machine, the first time I visit any site its like I've never been there before. Typical dialup.. Slow step by step loading of even the smallest graphic. Just wonder if there is some setting in FF I've missed that might help this.

Checked cookies in my Firefox profile and there are a ton of them in there.

Thanks... Raybro

Answer:Solved: Firefox page load time

Your "ISP" could be the culprit to slow browsing. I tried several and have settled on "TOAST.net" [http://www.toast.net/] with great satisfaction. I use SeaMonkey as my browser, and it allows use of a proxy, which TOAST accommodates. It makes all the difference in the world! Further, TOAST provides a multi-setting accelerator that really does work. I use "maximum" for sites where graphics display is not important and "very good" when I am downloading pictures, which I do every day.

I just downloaded Mozilla Firefox 1.0.6 and I can't get any pages to load PERIOD!

Everything worked fine before I made the upgrade - and I even tried IE, and everything seemed to be working there, so the problem has to be with Firefox.

I'm getting really pissed off. Everytime I install an update with Firefox, I encounter some weird problem.

I even tried uninstalling this and then installing it directly from the homepage, and still the same problem. I can't get any page to load.

Hi can anybody help.
When i load either IE or Firefox and then type in a web site I get the following message----
Sorry, the page you were looking for cannot be found--The page you are looking for might have been removed, had its name changed, or is temporarily unavailable.
Error: (DNS), click the back button to try another link.
If I load a web page from favourites , bookmarks or browsing history the load fine and i can browse the site. Also I have Ask Jeeves and google in my IE favourites,IE will load Ask Jeeves but not Google. suggesting that the problem may lie with Google.

Both IE and Firefox worked fine up to a scheduled Adobe update, Thinking that this was the problem I did a system restore hoping that this would cure the problem -but no effect.
I would be very grateful if somebody could give me some help with the problem.

I think I have narrowed it down to the google toolbar causing the problem. I dont know if there is a fix for that or if I will have to dump the toolbar and replace it with another. I have been using the google toolbar for years in that site and never had this problem before. I dont see any settings in the toolbar that could cause this. Anyone have any ideas? It is not the google toolbar solely, sometimes it loads sometimes it doesnt when I disable the toolbar. I have done a total uninstall of firefox including personal settings and all but it still wont work properly. The site loads ok with IE8. I have been using the firefox browser for 3 or 4 years now and never had any problems till now

I have used TSG before and am asking for help again. I would post information regarding my computer but I have notbeen able to open any internet connections on my desktop in several days. For some reason there are several non responsive programs on the desktop that will not open. I am writing this from my Asus netbook, which is connected to the same network so I do not believe its the network itself, but who knows. I tried to run HiJackThis, but it would not load, IE and Mozilla Firefox will not open or load...I double click, you see the hour glass, and then, nothing happens. When I try to use contorl-alt-delete to see if the program is nonresponsive my task manager will not open and then my start menu will also not open. Interestingly, my Mozilla Thunderbird email opens with no problems and downloads messages from the server. There are two things that are different about my computer in the last several months. One is that I got rid of my printer and got a new one, and I do not think that would affect the connectivity? The other is that I tried installing google chrome and was super disappointed to find toolbars installed without my knowledge or permission. I didnt care much for the software and did some research, mostly onthis site and found many complaints about the toolbars being downloaded with instalation of chrome and lots of difficulty getting rid of the toolbars despite uninstalling chrome. I am attempting to repair a Toshiba Laptop (Sat Pro A300) running Vista Home Premium. The computer is not mine: it belongs to someone who knows less than me about PC faults but I am no expert with Vista. MalwareBytes identified and removed Adware.Zango, Adware.Hotbar and Adware.Softomate with no noticeable difference in behaviour. In general the computer seems to be in working order except for some aspects of networking.

What doesn't work
Internet Explorer and Firefox can't load web pages
AVG can't download updates
ePrompter can't check for email
FTP can't connect to ftp site (connection refused)
Other computers on my network are not visible

What does work
Wired or wireless, the computer connects to my ADSL router and receives an appropriate IP address.
Ping works fine including DNS (e.g. google.com)
Windows update downloads updates as usual
Clock can be set from internet time server with usual reliability

My conclusions so far
There is something wrong with http or TCP/IP. It could be a corrupted or missing file or a faulty registry setting or maybe something is deliberately blocking certain types of traffic. Turning off the Windows firewall makes no difference.

Repair options
The computer can be reset to the factory default installation and all the additional software installation and configuration repeated.
There is no restore point old enough to be useful.
I have a backup image of the current hard drive configuration.

I would like to restore ... Read more

Hi everyone. I've got a very strange problem that just began happening out of no where. When browsing the net I can no longer go to websites such as www.zone.com, I can only check my e-mail when I'm lucky and the website decides to load without displaying "the page cannot be displayed" error message. More than half of the images on everyone webpage display as not loadable little X marks, even on this website. When attempting to open random websites after searching on google for example, more than 3/4 of the web pages I click on give me the "page cannot be displayed" msg instantly without even trying to load. This problem just began recently out of no where. Windows firewall has always been off and never had problems untill now. I run Aluria Security Center and have never had problems. I also have tried adding these sites to my trusted list and it does absolutely nothing. Hope you guys can give me a solution. Thanks ahead of time.

Ok so have recently bought a water cooled, OC'd pc. All was fine then the last time I switched it on it posted and came up with CPU FAN ERROR...hit f1 etc. ( i later disscovered that the bios had reset itself at ths point )It got to the windows loading sceen and just before the admin/password screen was due to appear, it rebooted, and repeat problem.

All the OC settings were reset, and i "ignored cpu fan " ( it was at N/A )and disabled "wait for f1 prompt". but it's still the same.

Has something been pushed too far ? With everything back to default speeds surely it should be ok. It was highly clocked but with high flow cooling and reading up on stuff well within it's capablilites. At bios the cpu is running at 21/22 degress

any ideas guys as I'm very stuck. ( for a reletive newbie )

Answer:CPU fault/windows wont load. please help me!

So, did you actually reset CMOS or do you "think" it reset itself? I've never heard of it "reseting itself".

Also, CPU FAN ERROR...it's probably saying that because you have no fan connected, as you have water cooling. Don't worry about that.

It probably corrupted the boot sequence on your Windows installation. See if you can do a repair install with your WINXP CD.

Otherwise, it's time to re-install Windows (unless somebody else has better advice).

Firefox HAVE placed a message on the site when trying to access Sky sports, and the message is "They realise there is a problem and are trying to solve it."

Some Images Do Not Load in IE7

I got a new dell computer on May 28th.

It came with XP SP2 and IE 6. Images would not load in IE, so I figured I'd need to upgrade to SP3 as well as upgrading IE to 7.

I'm a dial up user, and I use AOL. The browser within AOL (which I always thought was IE) will load the images fine, but I don't like to use it much because you don't really go full screen. Most of the images I notice don't load are from my own website, but it does it on many other sites as well. However, on AOL the images load fine on my website and all other sites.

I've checked to make sure in tools that I can view images, and I've run Avira. Nothing was found, which I figured since it is a brand new computer.

In another thread on this forum someone suggested visiting a site that recommended finding ie.inf and repairing IE. Well, that cannot be found on the computer. So the next suggestion in that document was to run sfc /scannow which is supposed to be system file checker, but when I ran it it was called Windows File Protection and it stated "Please wait while windows verifies that all protected Windows files are intact and in their original versions." I was suprised at how long it took to do since the computer seems super fast at everything else. But...that didn't work.

I know a lot of people prefer anything over IE these days, but I normally don't have issues with it, and would like to continue to use it.

On a side note, I just recently got help here for my... Read more

I have had this certian problem for months with no solution in sight. On certian websites, especially www.yahoo.com many images don't load including the Yahoo! title bar image. I have noticed it on other sites but Yahoo! seems to be the worst out of all of them. I am not sure if it is totally GIF files or other image files, but they all appear as if they are broken. Refreshing does nothing and ActiveX controls hasn't helped either. I have had MacAfee awhile back and have permently deleted anything to do with it. I have to make 4 CDs with pictures of work ive done so I can submit them as a portfolio. I took the 10 images I had and burned them to 4 CDs. When I put the CDs in the computer to make sure that they work the images are present on the CD, but they dont load. If I try to click one of the images to view it, the window freezes. I thought that this was maybe just a problem on my computer, but I tried on the computers at school as well and it does the same thing.

Answer:Images on CD won't load

Welll...exactly what steps did you take...to get the graphics on CD, yet unviewable?

Are the images the only files on the CDs?

Did you use 3d-party software?

What software burned the disk?

Did you use UDF mode for putting the images on CD?

And...finally...did you try a different brand of CD?

I'm using IE7 on Windows XP, and I can not get .png images to load in my browser. They only appear as a red 'X' in a box. This problem started shortly after Adobe Reader 9 was installed on my computer, but I can not confirm that there is a connection. I have tried resetting Internet Exporer settings to no avail. As near as I can tell, pngfilt.dll is operating.

I don't have admin privileges on this computer, so I can't install a better browser if I want to.

From Internet Explorer, gif images won't load on websites( not specific one, but just all)

I've tried to reinstall IE but that didn't work.

This has nothing to do with security( I don't have firewall enabled) and I have no idea how this happened.

It seems Netscape is working find with loading images, it's just Explorer that I'm having problems with.

Please let me know if any of you know the solution to this problem.

Thank you so much.

Answer:gif images won't load on IE

Open internet options in control panel and click on the advanced tab. Ensure that the "Show Pictures" box is ticked in the multimedia section.

whenever I load any webpage or website it does not load all the images only randomly, even when I refresh the images that show up/load are random in order.

How do I load all images?

---------
Firefox 1.5.0.2
Load Images: ticked
for the originating website only: unticked
Googleweb Accelerator: DSL, prefetch disabled
Fasterfox: turbo-charged, prefetch disabled
NoScript 1.1.4.1

Answer:Not all Images load

A few things I can think of that might affect images:

* Empty the cache.

* Some reasons for images not displaying can be found here. They include what has already been tried but there are a couple of other tests.

* Perhaps worth trying disabling any ad blocking functions in the firewall (if it has any) to see if that makes a difference.

* Disable any other ad-blocker.

* Are you using a hosts file for ad blocking? This might stop some page content from showing.

* Could it be Flash content not showing? If you are you using the 'Adblock' extension, make sure that 'Obj Tabs' is unchecked in the options. Could also try disabling Adblock altogether to see if it's blocking any page content.

* In 'NoScript', see that JavaScript is enabled for a page that is giving trouble (providing you trust the site). Also that the extension is not blocking Flash or Java content on the trusted site.

* Java installed and running OK is it?

* Have you tried running with Fasterfox and the Googleweb Accelerator disabled? I don't know much about the Googleweb Accelerator but you might like to read why Fasterfox can have drawbacks. Some opinions here. They could mostly be regarding page prefetching though. Perhaps read a few pages of the opinions to get a fair cross-section of views anyway. Also read what Asa Dotzler says about tweaking Firefox. It can work but might not always be a good thing.

Question: Images don't load

Hi,

This problem has been going on probably as long as I can remember and it's starting to get especially tiresome.

When I open a page with many images (such as on deviantArt) my browser will load maybe one or two, and not the rest. I tried connecting via cable as opposed to wireless but the problem did not solve itself. This goes for both IE and Firefox.

My mother's Dell Latitude which runs XP (using IE) is able to load images fine. I disabled the Windows firewall and emptied all caches, even changed internet security providers recently (to AVG) which still did not solve the problem.

However, when I was abroad I connected via wireless where I was staying and the images loaded in a heartbeat. I work in art so seeing the images is more aless essential. Please help

Answer:Images don't load

"when I was abroad I connected via wireless where I was staying and the images loaded in a heartbeat"

Assuming you were using the same laptop, it does prove there's nothing wrong with your operating system or any settings on it. So that leaves the internet provider you use at home. I would contact them about it.

Incidentally, switching to AVG for antivirus was a bad move. It's got very weakest virus protection only slightly better than having no protection at all.

I've been having the strangest problem with looking up photos online for the past few weeks. It seems to just change at random - I'll search one thing in google one minute and all of the pictures will load. I'll search the same thing a minute later and none of the pictures will load.

I've tried disabling all security but this doesn't seem to have an effect. I've got both IE8 and Firefox but the problem exists for both of them. I've tried just about every solution I can find, but as it seems to be random whether it works or not I'm running out of ideas.

Thanks

I recently (2 weeks ago) upgraded my Windows 98 to Windows XP home edition. Since the upgrade, whenever I'm surfing the web, advertisements won't load on the page. There is an image placeholder (that little "x" thing) but even when I click on "show picture", nothing comes up. Its EXTREMELY annoying! More annoying than the ads themselves. I only have the firewall that came with XP and have no pop up stopper enabled. Along with this problem, I cannot get games to load on Pogo.com since the upgrade. I have contacted both Windows help and Pogo help and I am getting nowhere. Hoping maybe someone here can help me please!!!!! I do have the most recent Java enabled as well (thats what pogo thought the problem was.......NOT)

I recently purchased a new computer. Its a Dell 3000, Windows XP, 1 gig RAM... For the past few days when I'm online images don't always load. It's random after each refresh the problem either gets better or worse. It happens to any image or icon. I use firefox 1.0.7 so I tried IE, still the same problem. I'm out of guesses. I have McAffe Security Center installed with Antivirus, Privacy Service and Firewall. I tried disabling it by closing it out and the problem still exists. Please someone help. Thanks in advance.

Answer:Images Won't Load in Browsers

Problem is "I have McAffe Security Center installed with Antivirus, Privacy Service and Firewall." It will block images from sites unless they are on your safe list - either change the settings - or better yet - unistall it and go with better - less inasive - not to mention free programs to meet your needs.

i.e. AVG for anti-virus www.grisoft.com

Essentially much of my problem is tied to one website, Facebook. However I have experienced periodic problems with other websites over the last week as well...though not as extensive and certainly not as persistent. For example I'm seeing a red X on this IE forum home page header just below where it the headers reading Tech Support Forum > Microsoft Support.

For those familiar with Facebook, I cannot view my friends' profile photos (nor my own.) Other images on the website (photo albums, other non-photo graphics) appear with no problem. This has been going on for about a week. Initially I could see a random profile picture or two and my own profile photo would occasionally show up. Then they all turned to the little red X's.

I've tried the following suggestions I've found on the web with no real success:
deleted temp files, deleted cookies, turned off pop-up blocker temporarily, added Facebook as safe website (for pop-ups and cookies), restored IE to original settings, installed latest version of Java. I also downloaded Firefox and has success viewing the site correctly during my first 2 visits, however now no profile photos can be seen using Firefox either. A few days ago, I started seeing some profile photos again (but the majority were still X's.) I was having more widespread internet problems last night and deleted temp files again, but now the few photos that were showing up are entirely gone.

I'm running Vista, using IE 7 and am not that computer savvy (... Read more

I've played club pogo games for years but when we got our laptop we got rid of our other comp. Now, every time I try to play certain games I get the error page:Could Not Load Game Images.... I am so mad!! I can't even finish my badge challenges. I can't stand it. I've went to so many help pages and have tried every bit of advice I get like, cleared my cache in eveything, I've added the IP addresses or whatever it's called, I've, well, I could go on and on but it still isn't working. I don't know what else to do. Please help!!

Answer:Cannot load game images

Hmm, that sounds like codec/player issues maybe..
What OS and browser do you use?

I know Firefox needed plugins and still had trouble with pogo...
Internet Explorer should work by default, but you still may need flash player updates.. Or Java..

That's the trouble with changing PC's.. The old one was updated and tweaked to work fine, but the new one doesn't have all that yet.

Guess there could be an ad blocker, blocking those images too..

Things to think about.

Hope I'm posting in the right forum, if not I apologize. I'm also sorry that I have indeed read about this online but can't find a solution to make it stop happening.

When I go to certain sites (example is Myspace) certain images don't load. Sites almost always load flash animation and most pics, but the ones left behind with a red x are usually .jpg (all the ones I've seen so far). An example of this happening would be if I went to a friends myspace page and scrolled down I would see that some or all of their friend pictures haven't loaded and are a square with a red x. I can almost always right-click the image and it will load. I have checked out almost everything on my end, besides changing hardware (modem) or reinstalling (browser, OS). This happens in IE7 for me as well as Firefox. When it is in Firefox it isn't a red x but the 3 shapes symbol for a picture loading or not yet loaded. I know my browser and internet connection are working but why aren't all the images being loaded on any given web site?

Hi allI'm putting together a site thru Dreamweaver but have got some strange white boxes with a red cross in. Does anyone know what these are? I have taken this from a template. My site is:click herethankssteve

Answer:Unsure what images are trying to load

Your browser's telling you that it knows a .gif image should load in the space but it isn't on the server - it's probably still on your hard drive. The path to the gif is shown as being a spacer gif in the images folder in your web, so I suggest that you check and see what's happened. If you have an FTP program use it to look in your images folder for the file - it's showing in the code as being the same spacer in all cases, and I suspect there should be a button image somewhere with the template.

Okay, my sister has a Sony Vaio laptop that's a couple of years old, but it's got a P4, gig of ram and Windows XP, so it's not so bad.

Recently, she's had a problem with some images not loading in any browser she (meaning me after she gave up) has tried: Chrome, Firefox, IE, etc.

I've gone in and made sure Allow Images to be Shown is ticked in the options, I checked the Windows Firewall and it's set to allow them just fine, I even tried turning off the firewall completely (temporarily) just to see if that would do it and no dice.

I've checked her virus scanner (AVG) and Spybot and they're not blocking the browsers either (I've tried disabling one, then the other, then both, just to see if that would do it and again, no dice.)

From what I can tell, something's up when it's loading in some of the background stuff maybe? Like some of the html code isn't loading right.
I tried doing the "inspect element" option in firefox and clicked on some places that should have images and it doesn't show that there should be images there.

The weird thing is that it does load some images just fine, such as the Google logo image, etc., but, for example, if you go to the Google homepage, instead of the black bar at the top with all the different options "search, images, maps, etc" it's replaced with just little white boxes in a row with the names of the links in them. The links still work, but the picture of the buttons do not.

Facebook is completely unusable as are so... Read more

Answer:images wont load

First are you sure the images are really there to be viewed. For instance if you get a that ussaully means there is no picture loaded there or that the picture is corrupt maybe if you gave us an example of a site you are having issues with we could let you know. If it is you or the site.

I recently installed xp sp3 over a messed up xp home edition. I had no way of backing files up first, so did not do clean install.

All is working good except images, buttons, (yes even those annoying ads) will not load in Firefor OR Explorer.

So I'm guessing it's a windows thing since neither works.

I've reinstalled drivers. I've searched the internet over.

Tried to register on other sites I found first to get help, funny thing is the security code image... LOL I couldn't see it to be able to type it in... therefore could not register.
Glad this site allowed me to see the image!!!

Pulling hair out here. How can I get images in web browsers to load???

Thanks for ALLL help.

p.s. I'm a truck driver, so WHEN I get help, thinking positive here, I WILL thank you. Just not sure when I can log back on.
