I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Purchased a new laptop and skipped making the MS email but created a password for my account. When I booted up my pc later on I was greeted with an incorrect password message. I must have made a typo in the pw set up because it does not work.I also didnt create a recovery disk because I had literally only used it for 30 mins before turning it off and this problem was the last thing I ever expected to happen. There is only one account and it's the one that is locked. A to rendered a $600 purchase obsolete until I can fix it.All help is appreciated.

Question: Microsoft Typo

Microsoft made a typo in their WinSAT application, How can we let them know about it?

Answer:Microsoft Typo

Hi Steven,

You can try contacting them by following the link below. Whether or not you will get a response I cannot say. I have managed to locate the error in the 'WinSAT.exe' file (notice the space between the letters), and you can edit it to replace the erroneous 'o' with an 'i', however by doing so you will probably cause it to fail an SFC scan. In my opinion, it is such a minor error that it is probably best left ignored.

Okay helping a friend via long distance phone calls and the random email. This is the only info I have, if someone could shed some light on this and help, we both would appreciate it. Here is the email she was able to send:

"Still messing with that damn trojan. AVG sees it and asks the usual, delete, heal, or move to vault. No matter how many times I choose delete, or heal or even move, it comes back again and again. This is what was causing my IE to try and dial out (at least, that's what I get from looking online for info on this damned thing) and share my info with the hacker. Avast does not seem to see...this file. It is saving itself (and apparently restoring itself) in my Windows folder as a dll file. prntsvr.dll to be exact.

The name AVG gives is PSW.Dumarin.C. The last thing I tried was to turn my
system restore off, delete the file and re-start... but guess what? lol, Yep, it is still there. *sigh* Why do people have to make these things???"

I mistyped a url earlier (I believe i typed 'radiosahck' instead of radioshack) and was redirected to a strange website (something about internet surveys I believe) I closed it right away and did a quick scan with malwarebytes to make sure nothing was wrong, and it came up empty. I'm probably being a bit paranoid here, but is this anything to really worry about?

Answer:Odd URL typo redirect...

Redirects can be something to worry about, as you have no idea what content is being hosted on the re-direct. Most popular anti virus programs, have real-time scanning, where it's constantly scanning your computer, and as soon as you're redirected to a bad website, it will block any content that's harmful to your computer. I use Eset and it does this.

Hello everyone,

I am experiencing the red typo lines when there are no typos. This happens on occasion when I'm typing emails and posting or responding to forums. It seems to occur when there is an actually typo and I correct the error. After that the entire post/email from that point on will have the red typo lines.

For example it is happening now... I'll try to post a pic for a better understanding.

Has anyone experience this as well and most importantly does anyone know of a solutions to this?

My unit is new and I have yet to DL Office 365 so I don't have Word. Not sure if that will matter.

Any input is greatly appreciated. Thanks

So I was browsing around in Windows Defender (Windows Settings > Update & Security > Windows Defender > Open Windows Defender Security Center > Virus & threat protection > Virus & threat protection settings, then scroll down to Controlled folder access.)

The sentence "Protect your files and folders from unauthorized changed by unfriendly applications" has a typo in it.
(Refer to the attached picture)

Either:
? The word "changed" has a typo in it and should be the word "changes" (with an 's' instead of a 'd'), or
? There is at least one missing word in between the words "unauthorized" & "changed"
Somebody should inform Microsoft about this typo.

But Also: I noticed that this is a new option, since the last time I was browsing around in there. What does this option exactly do? It was originally off, but I turned it On. Yet I must say that I have seen a few messages pop up in the right corner of the screen, stating that Windows Defender blocked some programs from making changes. One of them showed explorer.exe from modifying the Favorites folder without me doing anything with Favorites. Exactly what does this option do? Is it kind of like some sort of strict "Firewall"? Because if so, then I like that.

Answer:HAH, I Found A Typo In Windows!

Mine says 'unauthorised' (but then it should in the UK) - still has the typo though

Blocks access to your files and documents by unknown apps (malware/ransomware). It's off by default because not all 'good' apps are in it's 'trusted' list. It takes a bit of fiddling to get all your apps to work after you turn it on.

Hi can someone please help clear up my concerns because I accidentally interned the wrong DNS address on my new router.
After entering this typo I almost immediately that my connection was unstable especially on Linux and yesterday evening when I logged back into my router the DNS settings were set to there defaults. But I was able to surf the web kinda in Windows though it timed out often and certain webpages wouldn't even open, and now when ever I enter the correct DNS settings it disconnects from the internet.

Here's what I entered

222.67.222.222
220.67.220.220

Instead of

208.67.222.222
208.67.220.220

I'm really feeling uneasy and stressed about this, any advice?

Why does stuff like this happen whenever your in poor health or any other of life's trials and complications?

Answer:Open DNS typo on router

Two things you might check:

1. In Windows, do your Network Properties have a DNS Server entry(s) that point(s) to your router (probably 192.168.1.1 or close) or do they point to the published OpenDNS IP addresses? Easy check: From an Elevated Command Prompt: ipconfig /all

2. After you corrected the DNS router entries, did you have the router do a cold reboot?

I believe you shouldn't overly stress yourself over this if you didn't make any financial transactions. But new passwords could be needed.

Hi,

I am having a problem when i misspell URLs.

When i type things like google.con instead of .com, i am redirected to a host of different search sites, including searchathand.com, and daplaces.com. I am pretty sure i must be infected with something, but i have ran several online and offline spyware and malware scanners and nothing seems to find a problem.

I am running Firefox version 1.5.0.6, but the problem also occurs in IE as well.

Advise please!

Cheers

Joel

Edit: I seem to have found what i think is the culprit for this...but this leads to another problem.

There is a HJT entry stating
O17 - HKLM\System\CCS\Services\Tcpip\..\{A2EA3617-0DD4-4C7B-89EC-1F1FB24D96E1}: NameServer = 85.255.114.7 85.255.112.174

I have removed this on a couple of occasions and it only returns a few minutes later.

Memory corruption caused by an unknown driver. Please run memtest and driver verifier.

Download a copy of Memtest86 and burn the ISO to a CD using Iso Recorder or another ISO burning program.

Boot from the CD, and leave it running for at least 5 or 6 passes.

Just remember, any time Memtest reports errors, it can be either bad RAM or a bad motherboard slot.

Test the sticks individually, and if you find a good one, test it in all slots.

Spyware authors and phishing fraudsters yanked an old scam out of the playbook Wednesday by directing malicious code at Internet users who may be prone to typing or spelling deficiencies, according to security researchers.

Finnish security firm F-Secure said they discovered an attack aimed at Web surfers attempting to land on Google's (Quote, Chart) homepage, but who may have mistyped the Web address.

Internet users who punch in "Googkle.com" are treated to a host malicious code, as the computer gets slammed with a heap of the unwanted software that is automatically downloaded and installed. The malware includes: Trojan droppers, Trojan downloaders, backdoors, a proxy Trojan and a spying Trojan. A few adware-related files are also installed, the firm said.

Is there a way to tell Microsoft Word to "guess" what I mean every time I make a typo? For example, I type "tsanding," and instead of changing it to "standing," it underlines it red. I know I can then right-click it, and select AutoCorrect > standing, so that, from now on, if the same exact typo arises in the future, in which I accidentally type "tsanding," it'll change it to "standing." I've thus far collected *hundreds* of specific typo corrections in this way. But that's very time-consuming, and is only a weak attempt at preventing typos I may be likely to make in the future (based on the fact that I made the exact typo at least once before). Is there any way to establish that I want Microsoft Word to go ahead and correct every single "underlined red" occurrence from now on, based on its best guess as to what I meant? (except in cases where the typo was so bad that it has no guess at all) That way, when it corrects something I *didn't* want corrected, I can then go back and add what I wanted to its dictionary, to tell it not to consider that word an accident from then on.

Answer:Is there a way to tell Microsoft Word to "guess" what I mean every time I make a typo?

Found this in the Word Help files. On the Tools menu, click AutoCorrect Options. In the Replace box, type a word or phrase that you often mistype or misspell ? for example, type usualy. In the With box, type the correct spelling of the word ? for example, type usually. Click Add. Is this what you're talking about?

Answer:My Windows 7 copy looks counterfeit. Typo on back cover. Came from China (eBay). Pics

It's fake, that's pretty obvious. The hologram thing is most likely a sticker on top of the actual disc surface - you can use a fingernail or razor blade at the very edge and lift it up a bit, that's 100% proof. The part numbers don't seem to match up with the actual Windows 7 Ultimate part number, and it just has a fake quality all the way around.

If you contact Microsoft, show them the pics, explain where you bought it from and your situation, there is a small - small but it exists - chance they'll provide you with a key just for making the report and identifying the seller you got it from.

No guarantees, but at the moment you're better off reporting it to them and going from there. Sure can't hurt to let them know, either way.

I'd report it, personally, without even really thinking about it. It just SCREAMS fake.

Answer:Windows 7 Expired Password - Recvd Warning prompts but not forced to change password

Hi,

After applying above settings, the user can change the password by default at the expire day. Please create a new domain profile and test the issue on several Windows
7 machines. Can the user be enforced to change password at expire day? If not, please refer to the following steps to collect the information for research.

1. On the DC, open GPMC, right-click Group Policy Results, choose Group Policy Results Wizard, follow the wizard to collect a Group Policy result for problematic
Windows 7 client.

2. On the Windows 7 machine where GPO failed to apply, please perform the following steps to collect log files:

a) Please add the specified registry key to enable group policy log (%windir%\debug\usermode\gpsvc.log), and remove or rename it to disable group policy log after
collecting data. You may need to create the Diagnostics key if it is not there.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Diagnostics

Type: DWORD

Value: GPSvcDebugLevel

Data: 0x30002 (hexadecimal)

b) Then on the problematic Win7 machine, run command “gpupdate /force”.

c) Then on the problematic Win7 machine, run command “gpresult /v > gpr_win7.txt”, send me gpr_win7.txt file.

d) On the problematic Win7 machine, run command “eventvwr”, then expand to Applications and service logs -> Microsoft -> windows -> groupPolicy

I have a Toshiba P100 - 347. And yesterday I entered password and now when I turn on the computer, it doesn't accept. It appears Setup inform: invalid password.
It's just after turns on, after appears The Toshiba logo.

Can someone help me?

Answer:Satellite P100-347 doesn't accept BIOS password - It appears: invalid password

Hi

You have used simply a wrong BIOS password. Either you have mistyped, mixed some letters or for example the caps lock buttons was enabled.
Please check these possibilities.

By the way; it?s not possible to bypass the unknown BIOS password by yourself.
If the BIOS password in unknown you will have to contact the ASP in your country to unlock the computer and to delete the BIOS password.

I'm not sure if this is in the right forum, but I have a problem with my internal hard drive. I have set a master HDD password and user HDD password using the BIOS. Some time later I have discovered that I must have typed the master HDD one wrong twice in a row on the confirmation, as it is coming up incorrect when I try to remove it! I can still access the disk using the 'user HDD' password as long as it is inside the laptop, but because a master HDD one is set, I cannot remove the locks. This means I cannot take my drive out and put it in an USB caddy or access it from another PC or laptop. I have backed up everything that is on it, so data loss is not a concern, but is there any way to remove the master password if you know the user password? I don't want to use this disk in my laptop and then my laptop break down on me, as the hard drive is basically locked to this laptop unless I find a way to get rid of the master password- this WOULD mean data loss in the future to come if the laptop died!
The disk is a TOSHIBA MK1059GSM with firmware 50IDF3DMS (I won't post the serial number). I would just buy a new disk but as it is a 1000GB one, and they are expensive, I would rather find a way to fix the disk password than spend money a whole new drive. Like I said, data loss is not a concern, I just want to return it to a fully usable-state!
If anyone knows of a solution, please let me know!

Answer:qosmio x300 15T hard disk master password wrong, but know the user password

I've somehow figured a way. Deliberately getting the user password wrong, booting from a spare windows disk I had, and then using Hard Disk Wipe Tool to do a low level format seems to have wiped the master password. I was then able to turn off the user password by setting it to blank. Problem solved! I could only do this because this laptop has slots for two hard drives.

Protect Forever Password (PFP)
Try our password protection software that allows you to hide your passwords against hackers !
How it works?
This software has a local database for any computers that is installed.
The password generated or defined by the user is encrypted in this database and this un-encrypted when the user want this password.
The user create the password [Create table in the local database]
The password is then encrypted in real-time with a new encryption method created in real-time for this password.

Soo :

Password ---> Stored as (ex) Md54%?9fpdmz?d^$~#dFpQ#@2$Q*Z&*DmqO)"dmAo (for 8 length password is about like 200 length in store (encrypted))
When the user want this password for exemple, to connect to facebook :

The software decrypt this password. Not so easy. The software decrypt 50 fakes passwords in same times. So the hackers can't see where the real password is, because the encryption is not at 1 time but in 5 + 2-perchar

Soo, there is it that the hacker can see :

qpz
pAo -> Uncrypted in real time to : pass (exemple) <-- first 3 chars of the real password (exemple)
iAo <-- Uncrypted in real time to : lolilol - Fake password 1 (or 10 , just an exemple) 3 letters
iQm <-- Fake again
PdA <-- Maybe 3 letters from the real password ? ;D
Xk7 <-- Maybe Fake?
DmP <-- Maybe?..
...
...
500..+ times

So the computer gets multiple datas Fake and Real.
But, the real password is saved in store of the case (the ... Read more

We have a remote user using windows 7 pro 32 bit and  cisco vpn 5.0.07.0410 on his laptop.
The remote user is prompted to change his password while he is connected to the domain during the vpn session.  He follows the prompts to the change the password.
When he performs the following Ctlr+Alt+Del, selects lock, and now tries to unlocks the laptop with the new password he  receives the message of
?The trust relationship  between this workstation and the primary domain failed?
In order to get into the laptop   the remote user restarts the laptop and uses the old password with his domain username.
Even though he is vpn into the network  the remote user  is unable to gain access to any network resources since domain password was changed.
VPN password and domain password are different.  The Cisco VPN username/password account is keep on the ASA.  The domain username/password is keep on a Microsoft server.

Does anybody know how to get the changed domain password onto the laptop while VPN?

Thank YOU!

Hi,
I recently added a reg key to DisablePasswordCaching (1) to some meeting room computers at work.

The option works, users are not prompted to save passwords whenever logging in to a web site.

After looking around on the net, the options should also become greyed out in the setting (Internt Options - Content - AutoComplete - Settings - "Use AutoComplete For") However, the check boxes are still active.

Any suggestions to why they are not greyed out since the reg key is enabled?

Which free offline password manager would you prefer (without cloud)?

I already use sticky password premium. Sticky password has improved its windows extensions with new graphical identifier for input fields. This has made it very easy to use and autofill works for all sites now.

But i want to know if KeePass is better, being a open-source & free. Does it's autofill works with every site?

Please share & help me decide.

The title says it all! Currently using Norton Identity Safe's standalone password manager, but would like to start using Lenovo's instead. Attempted to import .DAT and/or .CSV files from Norton, but no option for these file types appeared in Lenovo's Password Manager. If not an option to import directly, is it possible to add one of the files to the location Lenovo stores the password manger entries?

Answer:W520 - Lenovo Password Manager - Can .CSV or .DAT files be imported from other Password Managers?

Hello,  No you can't import .CSV or .DAT files into Password Manager. It uses a .PWM file format, and uses a 256-bit key AdvancedEncryption Standard (AES) with Microsoft CryptoAPI. You can export your info to be used in another machine with the Thinkvantage Password Manager installed, but not from another password manager. More info here:Password Manager 4 Deployment Guide Cheers!

As above really. Trying to create a network for file sharing, as have upgraded the 'server' (part of a Workgroup, not a Domain) from WinXP to Win7 and experienced problems ever since. Ironically the problems haven't mainly been with sharing files between Win7 and WinXP systems, but between 2 Win7 systems.

I bought a new Win7 laptop and tried to connect it to the server, but it hasn't had Read/Write privileges over the files in the Win7 server. Entering a username and password to gain access to the servers folders has not been a problem, and as far as I know, opening files such as documents has not been a problem either. However, when trying to save an edited document, access is denied, and if I try to open an executable file (this is necessary for a node installation), it prompts me for a network password.

Every combination possible of username and password from the 2 systems (including '\' or 'SYSTEMNAME\' before the username) has not worked. I tried syncing the times which was apparently a previous problem, but to no avail. I am unable to access Local Security Policy, as the server is running off Home Premium. I have tried creating a new workgroup, removing and changing passwords, enabling guest access to the network through the Windows Resource Kit Command Shell, creating identical users on both computers, but nothing appears to have worked.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance!

My Thinkpad T41 is dead and does not boot up (I dropped it to the floor). It only give a black screen. I need the data from the hard drive. I know the both the passwords for the T41 and the hard drive. But I cannot start the computer. I tried to put the hard drive into a different laptop PC (from HP) but failed even I typed in the correct hard drive password. Does thinkpad encode my password to a different one into the hard drive so that I cannot open it from a different PC even I know my hard drive password? How can I remove the T41 harddrive password from a different PC to recovery my data? Thank you very much for your help!!!

Cursor mysteriously jumps from password box back to user name box to reveal password

When signing into a password protected site, I enter my user name in the user name box. My user name is displayed on the screen. I then move the cursor to the password box, which displays the password as *********. As I begin to enter my password, my cursor sometimes jumps back to the user name box so that my type password characters are revealed! I use an optical mouse and think that it may move the cursor from the password box to the user name box on its own, but it might also be spy ware.

I?ve read and performed the How to: Spyware, Trojan And Virus Removal ( http://forums.majorgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=35407 ) with no luck on fixing the problem. Has anyone else had this same problem? Does anyone know what causes it and what are the fixes to this problem? Thanks.

Answer:Cursor mysteriously jumps from password box back to user name box to reveal password

I have never heard of this problem before. Sounds more like a hardware problem to me. Does it always happen? Does it only happen on certain websites? Try moving your optical mouse to someplace where it will not function while entering your user name. Then use the tab key to move to the password field and enter the password. Do you still have a problem?

Is you keyboard wired or optical?

Some time ago I received a broken HP slimline for free. The mobo was dead. I replaced the mobo with exact same type and voila; a new PC for 1/5th the cost.

About 3 months go by and then all of the sudden I'm getting a message at Vista logon screen saying my password has expired and needs to be reset. I follow the prompt and reset the password and I get this message.

configuration information could not be read from the domain controller either because the machine is unavailable, or access has been denied.Click to expand...

I've done some googling and tried a few thing so far. Here is what I've done with no sucess:

Used Windows Home Server to restore the oldest backup I had. No dice, same exact problem. That was my smoking gun unfortunately.
Used a password cracking boot disc to make sure I had the password correct. I did not change the password using the crack.
Tried to boot into safe mode, unable to boot into safe mode =/
Tried using "last known good configuration" no dice either.
Booted into repair mode and opened CMD prompt and typed "net accounts /maxpwage:unlimited". That didn't solve the problem, although i bet it would have prevented it.

Any thoughts would be appreciated. I don't have the luxury of reloading the operating system as I do not have the installation disc. Remember, I got it for free.

After having to deal with this problem i thought i would share what worked for me.After having set HDD and System start up passwords(They were the same password) I was not able to boot the laptop to even POST screen, it displayed nothing but a blank screen after ACCEPTING the startup password. After a few days of frustration i removed the HDD and started the computer without it, allowing me access to BIOS, From there i was able to disable Start up password once again. After re attaching the Hard-drive into the laptop it correctly asked for the HDD password and accepted it, and booted up normally. I hope someone finds this useful.

Hi Guys,

This is a curious one.

I have three PCs (two desktop and one laptop) all running Windows 10 Pro 64-bit (1607).

Each system has a shared partition, set up exactly the same, which has sharing set for 'everyone', with 'full control'.

Password protected sharing is turned off on each system (in "Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Network and Sharing Center\Advanced sharing settings").

Each of the desktop systems can access each other's shared and also the laptop's shared partition.

The problem is when I try to use the laptop to access the shares on either of the desktop systems, I get a pop-up requester asking for a username and password. (see below - the laptop is "T400" and one of the desktops is "A960").

Any idea why this would be happening? I've checked the settings on all systems (sharing and network) and can see not reason for the password prompt appearing.

Previously I was running Win 10 Pro 64-bit (1511) on all three systems and never encountered this error.

Cheers,

Mike.

I turned off password protected file sharing. When connecting from my notebook, which I have the same username/password on to boot, it asks for a password. Even when I enter the correct password, it denies access. Please help, as I'm stumped, and I believe I've stumped google as well.

Answer:Computer with password-protected sharing disabled asks for password

How did you turn off passwords?

To access a share, you need two permissions --

1: Share permissions are on the share itself. This gives you permission to read or write to/from the share.

2: File Permissions. These are on the security tab. If you don't have enough NTFS permissions to access the files, you're not going to be able to access the files no matter what share permissions you assigned.

You need to combine these rights to get the final permissions. The most restrictive permission will win out when determining your access.

But, if you're using the same username and password on both machines, and you still can't access it, it's possibly not a permissions issue. Which is why I asked how you turned off the passwords for shares.

I have a user with an HP Probook 5310m. Every few weeks the user is unable to connect to a wifi network. User types correct password but says unable to connect to network, incorrect password. I have verified the password is correct. I used forget network, still does not work. The only solution is to completely remove the wireless adapter driver, delete the software, and then install the wireless adapter again. Once the driver is installed, the user is able to enter the password and connect to the network. Again, after a few weeks, the problem occurs again.
Does anyone have an idea on what is causing this problem? Thanks for your help in advance!

However, when I wake up my laptop it does not ask for a password but instead loads right back up to the desktop. When I leave the computer idle for a long period of time and it locks itself/hybernates/whatever it does ask for a password, and I do have a password saved on the computer.

Is there something I am missing here? I'd like for the password prompt to start working.

Hi- I have been slowly struggling with a password issue with my Ideapad U530 over the last few months.  The problem is, when I try to acces the BIOS via the Novo button, I am asked for a "system password". However, I did NOT set this password, so I cannot access the BIOS. In terms of other passwords, such as Windows User/Admin, and boot, there is no problem. The only unique thing that I have done with this machine which I could think of the <might> be related to the BIOS password issue, is that I used the Novo button to access the built-in restore tool (I forget what Lenovo calls it exaclty, but it is a system restore application), and I told the machine to re-image itself back to the built-in, out-of-box image. This process worked fine, though, and logic would tell me that this c/would <not> affect the BIOS. Has anyone else run into this issue? Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks for reading and/or replying. -Chris p.s. - USB booting appears to be disabled. Actually, that was why I first tried to access the BIOS ...to enable USB booting. So, my ability to troubleshoot may be heavily limited by my inability to boot to the internal hybrid HD. p.p.s - the machine is under warranty until September of this year. Answer:unknown "system password" (aka BIOS password) on Ideapad U530

Welcome to the Lenovo Community !

Sorry to hear of your problems.  With a laptop, removing the battery will not clear a BIOS related password.  That only works with desktop models.  Unfortunately forum rules prohibit further discussion on how to circumvent the BIOS password.  This is due to the ease in which laptops can be stolen.  I would suggest contacting Best Buy again and see if they can further assist you especially if the laptop you purchase had been a floor display.  Otherwise the only remedy to the password problem would be to replace the motherboard.

I'm having a problem with a Toshiba Satellite L300D. After I reinstalled the HDD it would beep. To solve this I went into BIOS to look and see if the board had some sort of intrusion setting. When I exited the BIOS and restarted I know get the Enter Current Password (with a blue background on a black screen) with continuos beeps. The thing is it seems to auto enter in 10 characters (*) and then stop. There are no other options.

I have searched unsuccessfully for any info about this and I cant even find where the CMOS is located which I think is soldered onto the board.

Has anybody had any similar experience like this?
I would really appreciate any help its driving me crazy.

I have three Win 10 PC's (desktop, laptop, Surface) that all have the admin login account set up through a common Microsoft Hotmail account. I changed to a new password on my Hotmail account, but the old Hotmail password is still used for logins to my three PC's. How do I change the PC passwords?

I tried doing it through Settings/Accounts/Manage My Microsoft Account/ on my desktop but that forced me to change my Hotmail password again. Now my desktop and Hotmail password are synced, but the laptop and Surface still use the old Hotmail password.

Answer:Changed Microsoft Account Password Does not Change PC Login Password

Hello warc1, and welcome to Ten Forums.

If the laptop and Surface have an internet connection, then the new password should eventually sync to them as well.

Answer:BEST Offline Password Manager: KeePass Vs Sticky Password Free?

It looks like you want to use them for online form-filling. I would use neither of them, KeePass does not have good browser integration it relies on external add-ons and opens one port just for form filling. It is good for offline secure storage.Sticky Password free is good but does not offer anything extra other than the passwords(for my use).If you are using Sticky password it is good for onlline auto-logins.

Hello all,

I hope I can get some help / guidance from some one with more experience with the M400 if possible?!

I reinstalled the OS and setup the biometric security for me, which has worked flawlessly! However I stupidly also set up the boot up security (BIOS Password). So when the tablet gets turned on I can scan my finger and get in without any issues, however I now want to turn the boot up security off. So I booted it in to the OS and went to disable it....however it asks for my password....which I have forgot as I have been a typical end user and have been only using my bloody finger!

Does anyone know if I can disable the BIOS security while in the OS using the biomentric security rather than entering a password? I have tried just changing the admin password within the win OS but that doesn't work....any ideas?

Any help with be greatly appreciated!

Cheers

You are speaking about BIOS password which you set up in the BIOS?
As far as I know you cannot remove the BIOS password if you don?t know the old BIOS password.
In such case just the Toshiba ASP could help you? just the Toshiba ASP technician could remove the unknown BIOS password

Hi,

Just converted from Win 7 Pro to Win 10 Pro yesterday, and afterwards installed a TPM chip. The chip is recognized by TPM Management. I haven't turned on Bitlocker yet.

The only way I can see to change the Owner Password first requires that I enter the current TPM Owner Password. The TPM seems to have been automatically initialized and Prepared by TPM Management. I assume that means an Owner Password has been generated but I have no idea what it is or how to back it up.

Perhaps it's tied into the Bitlocker Recovery Key? Just a guess; like I said I haven't turned on Bitlocker.

Has this something that has recently changed with Win 10? Is it safe to begin using Bitlocker even though I don't have the password saved offline?

Thanks,
Mark M

So, I installed Windows 10 last week. Yesterday I explored a bit and discovered Windows Edge, their new email/ outlook client. I attached my personal Gmail address to the service as well as my corporate address. My corporate account required me to create a new password that fit my company's security standards, which I did, but, after feeling like my company address was restricting how I use my personal home computer, I removed that address. Here's where I get fuzzy, I cannot, for the life of me remember, if I changed my password back to one that didn't conform to my company's security standards or if I left it alone. All I know is that once my computer locked later that night, I was unable to get back in. I've tried every permutation of every password, including that corporate password, I've ever used with no success.

I do not have a password reset disk nor do I have a system repair disk with which to reinstall Windows 10.

So, how screwed am I? Will I have to reinstall Windows 7, the last OS I have a disk for, and hope I can reupgrade to Windows 10?

P.S.
I did not attach my MSN email address (aka my Microsoft Account) to my computer, so resetting my password that way is a no go.

Answer:Forgot Windows 10 password, no repair or password recovery disk.

Hi,

I recently suffered a trojan virus attach and ultimately have changed my password on my email server.

I have tried to reset it to the new password in Windows mail multiple times. It keeps reverting to the old password as the saved password, and I continually have to retype in the new password. I tried resetting the password to nothing, and rebooting, and the old password comes back again.

There must be a preference file or an ini file that I can edit. Can I do that without loosing my address book, etc.?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Daria

Answer:Trouble resetting password in Windows Mail to new server password

You might try clicking "Apply" before "OK" in the same window that you entered the password. (I'm guessing that since you are using Windows 7, your email program is Windows Live Mail, not Vista's Windows Mail, although the procedure would be the same anyway.)

Hello, I received a new laptop for Christmas and, while testing out the keys, clicked on what I now know is the 'lock' button above the numpad. It locked the operating system, as expected. I swiped my fingerprint, but when I do so, it goes to Lenovo Fingerprint Manager Pro and informs me that it must validate my password. I cannot change the username or location, but it has two fields: New password and a second one to confirm the previous. I tried my Lenovo password, my Windows 8 password, writing nothing in the boxes, and creating a new password with all the usual limitations - numbers, 8 characters, etc., etc.. They all return with the same 'Credential Error' that it cannot validate my password. Windows 8 will not log me in unless I complete the Fingerprint login. Restarting does not seem to work. What can I do to fix it? I'd rather not format my PC a couple weeks after I got it, you know?

Answer:T540: Fingerprint Password Manager not accepting new password.

*bump*  after an update- my fingerprint manager is now saying this error as well.  i can't change my password and the revealed password is incorrect.  anyway to reset this? . im afraid one day my fingerprint reader will not be able to read my fingerprint anymore and i will never be able to login ever again

The company I work for has a control room where they have to enter data into excel spreadsheets with lots of links and macros, so we password protected the sheet so that they could only manipulate the cells that they needed. Myself and 2 other employees have access to the spreadsheet. Someone changed the password and the person does not remember what they changed it to. Is there any way to reset the password?

Answer:Password protected sheet in excel and can't remember the password

Do you have a backup from before the password was changed?
