Excel Macro - Add Appointment To Outlook

Question: Excel Macro - Add Appointment To Outlook

Hi,

I am an extremely basic user who has managed to get a basic macro together through multiple web searches and am now stuck...

I have dates entered into the following columns in excel: 14,15,16,26,27,28

I have managed to make the macro create appointments for 14,15,16 but not the rest. Also, every time i run the macro it creates a new appointment regardless if one already exists. I saw on this forum about adding a word to another column which the macro searches for and if found doesnt create a new appointment - or something to that extent. Here is what i have:

Sub POATEST()
' Create the Outlook session
Set myOutlook = CreateObject("Outlook.Application")

' Start at row 7
r = 7

Do Until Trim(Cells(r, 1).Value) = ""
For Each cell In Range(Cells(r, 14), Cells(r, 16))
If cell.Value <> "" Or 0 Then

' Create the AppointmentItem
Set myApt = myOutlook.createitem(1)

' Set the appointment properties
myApt.Subject = Cells(r, 1).Value & " " & "Update Due"
myApt.Start = cell.Value
myApt.categories = "Yellow Category"
myApt.ReminderSet = True
myApt.Body = "blah blah blah"
myApt.Save
End If
Next cell
r = r + 1
Loop
End Sub

Please can someone assist by:
1. making it apply for all the columns originally mentioned
2. making it search if an appointment for that item (ie that row) exists - if not, create appt, if so, do not create appt and insert "Yes" in column 29

Thank you in advance
Nic

Good Afternoon,

I'm quite stuck trying to fix my code. I've scoured the internet looking for similar questions, but to no avail. I am trying to have excel create appointments in the outlook calendar and be able to run the macro multiple times without have duplicate appointments.

I could run my macro and create an appointment, which worked fine, but there was no routine to check if the appointment already existed. So I would have multiple appointment alerts for the same appointment if I ran the macro more than once. (If I were to add something and run the macro again to keep everything up to date).

So I tried to add a loop checking first the date of the appointment then the title (subject). However, now, I am getting the "Object doesn't support this property or method" error when I run the following code.

If anyone could help me with what the error refers to specifically in my code or any code I need to add or take out to make my loop work I would really appreciate it. Thank you very much in advance.
Code:

Sub ExportAppointmentsToOutlook()
Dim olApp As Outlook.Application
Dim olApt As AppointmentItem
Dim blnCreated As Boolean

Dim olCalendarFolder As Outlook.MAPIFolder 'use MAPI to loop through folder
Dim olMessage As Object 'items in calendar/inbox are messages
Dim olInboxMessages As Object
Dim olAppSession As Outlook.Namespace
Dim strSubject As String
Dim myDate As Date

Hi,

I have been putting a couple of macros together to export a series of jobs in an excel spreadsheet into either a task list or calendar in outlook.

I require that the entry is updated if already present. The task macro works but the calendar macro is not. It seems to stick on a count function. I was wondering whether this was due to the amount of entries I already have in my outlook calendar? The codes are listed below. If anyone can offer advice/help in how to overcome the issue I would be very greatful. If the code can be simplified, that would also be a bonus.

When checking to update, the macro looks at subject field

Hello,

The boss wants to track his subordinates work on projects in his outlook calendar from a Excel Spreadsheet. I was looking/hoping that there was something "automated" that I could do that will remind him when a project is coming due and then another one on the due date. Was looking for an outlook new appointment (all day event) to be placed on his calendar to serve as that reminder.

I started to do this one by one but he now wants me to see if this could be automated.

Thank you!

Hey guys, I had some great assistance from computerman29642 earlier on this macro. It works perfectly on my own calendar; however, I need to target a specific shared calendar. Hopefully it could be user imput by a msg box. I am struggling to find information on how to do this.

The first thread was this
http://forums.techguy.org/business-applications/835748-solved-excel-macro-outlook-calendar.html

So, as for now the example works. But before it writes to the calendar I want a msg box pops up asking for the desired calendar(Sometimes more than one word), and then target that calendar and write the data. A simple little box that confirms or denies progress (I am pretty sure I can figure that one out) Any suggestions or directions where I can learn more fire away please. Ill attach a copy of my test again.

Hi, We are a team of 25 who all use the same contact list (which contains addresses, organisation name, tel numbers, emails, contact names etc for approx 600 organisations). We regularly have to bcc all these contacts in to emails. We previously all held the distribution lists (sorted alphabetically by email) and had to let the rest of the team know when details changed so they could be updated by all. The problem with this was that the distribution lists do not hold all the information needed (e.g. addresses, organisation names) and contact information was not always updated as it should have been. I have updated an excel spreadsheet containing all the information and I would like to create a macro for all the team to periodicaly import this data in to Outlook Contacts and possibly create distribution lists from these. I trust this makes sense I am using Outlook 2003.
Thanks

Hey guys, I am quite new to creating macros. I do have some primitive experience with code. My goal is to take 3 or 4 colums of information and put them into Outlook Calendar.

A- Discription B- Start -C Finish

So, in the Calendar in outlook it would show a discription and connect the dates in B and C to the days in the Calendar. I don't know if it can be done. At my current state I can't figure out how to get even one to move over. Any suggestions on where to start??

I am running Outlook and Excel 2003 all updated. On Windows XP Pro Service Pack 2.

I need a macro that will 1) create a new outlook folder, then 2) create new Outlook distribution lists from data in an Excel sheet.

The Excel sheet has columns:
A - ID
B - DEPARTMENT_DESC
C - STUDENT_LEVEL_DESC
D - MAJOR_DESC
E - PROGRAM_DESC
F - EMAIL_ADDRESS
G - LAST_NAME
H - FIRST_NAME

The first entry begins in row 2 with row 1 being the column title.

I need a new distribution list to be created for each department (column B) and each student level (column C). (Column B will only ever be one of 6 values, column C will only ever be one of 2 values. Therefore, the macro should create 8 distribution lists.)

I have looked at threads similar to this question but I can't seem to get anything working.

Good Morning,

I have very limited knowledge when it comes to Macros and VBA.

What I need is one of two possible scenarios.

1. Information from a Training Assignment PivotTable exported to a shared calendar on Outlook.
2. Information from a Training Calendar bulit as a Macro in Excel exported to a shared calendar on Outlook and the ability to update either calendar if new information becomes available.

Don't know which is best using code via VBA or using the Export/Import functions.

Any help is greatly appreciated

Hi there!

So I've found the code below here: http://www.google.com/support/forum/p/Calendar/thread?tid=5e4909ca64cffe90&hl=en - Full credit goes to user 'tpuiatti'

Code:
Sub Generate_ICS()
Dim rng1 As Range, X, i As Long, v As Long
Dim objFSO, objFile
Dim FilePath As String
FilePath = "G:\Service.ics"
Set objFSO = CreateObject("Scripting.FileSystemObject")
Set objFile = objFSO.CreateTextFile(FilePath)
Set rng1 = Range([a5], Cells(Rows.Count, "H").End(xlUp))
X = rng1

objFile.write "BEGIN:VCALENDAR" & vbCrLf
For i = 1 To UBound(X, 1)
objFile.write "BEGIN:VEVENT" & vbCrLf & "DTSTART:" & Format(X(i, 2), "yyyymmdd") & vbCrLf & "DTEND:" & Format(X(i, 2), "yyyymmdd") & vbCrLf & "RRULE:FREQ=YEARLY" & _
vbCrLf & "SUMMARY:" & X(i, 1) & vbCrLf & "END:VEVENT" & vbCrLf
Next i
objFile.write "END:VCALENDAR"
End Sub

This code takes the info from 2 columns in Excel: A which is the event title and B which is the event date. Then it export these informations to an .ics file which will add the event dates to the Oulook Calendar.

The macro and the .ics work perfectly, however i wan't to make a few changes/additions to fit my needs. Additionally I wan't this macro to:

Hi there,

I have to prepare several daily emails which are prepared using a range of data (for example B3122) from Excel 2003 and then have to be sent using Outlook 2003. Unfortunately, due to various management requirements I am unable to merely attach the Excel file as an attachment or paste the Excel data into the email as a straight paste - I have to paste as Unformatted text and then manually change various lines of the email to Bold and Underlined text.
I am trying to write a macro that will do this automatically but am unable to get the Excel data pasted into Outlook (as unformatted text or otherwise). I am assuming that for the font changes to bold I will have to use a Find function in the macro.

The code that I have got so far is as follows:

Range("B3122").Select
selection.Copy

Dim olApp As Object, olMail As Object
Set olApp = CreateObject("Outlook.Application")

Set olMail = olApp.CreateItem(0)
olMail.To = "[email protected]"
olMail.Subject = Range("B3")
olMail.Display

I am new to VBA and so I may be missing a really obvious solution but after trawling the net I have been unable to find an answer.

Many thanks to anyone that can help and make my work a lot less tedious!

Ok, just a bit of advice needed on this one for the time being...
I need a macro that will:

- Save all (Excel) attachments from the currently open email message (or a message selected in the Inbox) to a directory on the PC.

- Merge all the saved Excel files into a single file - they're all formated exactly the same - data in about 20 columns, no column headers or anything, just standardised data.

- Save the merged file with a standard name (i.e. every time this is ran, it needs to have the exact same filename).

- Delete all the files in the directory apart from the merged file.

I know there's probably a fair bit of code online for doing the individual parts of this. Can I do both from within Outlook? It doesn't particularly matter if I need to do this in 2 steps - an Outlook macro to save the attachements, and an Excel macro to do the file merge etc.

Cheers.

Hey everyone,

I was wondering if anybody on these forums could help me with the below task?

I run a backup program that generates email reports to a subfolder in my Outlook 2010 every 6-8 hours to tell me the status of every backup job that I have set up and have running. The email details the job name, the job start time, and the job status (running, completed successfully, failed, missed, cancelled etc).

At the moment, I sift through each and every one of these emails (I have over 100 backup jobs per day) and enter the relevant data manually into my excel spreadsheet. The spreadsheet looks like the following:

Job name Monday 1st Oct Tuesday 2nd Oct Wednesday 3rd Oct Thursday 4th Oct
Job_xxx SUCCESS SUCCESS FAILED FAILED
Job_yyy SUCCESS SUCCESS SUCCESS RUNNING
Job_zzz MISSED MISSED CANCELLED SUCCESS

What I’d like is to automate this process, so that each day, perhaps every 4 hours, a script would run that would search for certain values within each email I receive and update the excel sheet accordingly.

Example:

- Monday 1st Oct, 10am – email comes into inbox with subject/body containing “Job_xxx has started “ >>>> update Excel sheet to record RUNNING under column ‘Monday’ in row titled 'job_xxx'
- Monday 1st Oct, 1pm – email comes into inbox with subject/body containing “job_xxx completed successfully” >>>> update Excel sheet to record SUCCESS, ... Read more

Answer:2003 Excel to Outlook Calendar appoinment VB macro creates duplicates appointments

Hi jayJay,

I'm not going to look through the whole code but what I think happens is that sinec you run the macro every time it will just add an appoitment, I think an options should be added, something like an extra column namen DONE and when the macro is run the cell in the column DONE should be given a value True() or a 1 to indicate it as done, so that when you run the macro again the column DONE cells where the valkue is not True() or is not 1 (dependign on waht you choose) is carried out.
This way you will avoid duplication.
Just an idea, happy coding.

Hi,

I need help with a macro. So far the macro is operating as it should , creating MS Outlook 2010 calendar appointments using data from an excel data spreadsheet (data base). The issue I’m having is that every time the macro is run for a new entry, duplicate calendar appointments are created for the already existing data in the data base. I would like to have the macro do a search to ensure an appointment does not exist before creating one. I have read a few threads with similar problems but have had major issues incorporating the solutions to resolve the issue I’m having.

I have attached the macro in txt. format for reference.

Thanks for your help.

Answer:Solved: Excel macro updating Outlook calendar is creating duplicate appointments.

Hi
You can use this function to check if an appointment exists based on the Start Day/Time

Code:

Public Function CheckAppointment(ByVal argCheckDate As Date) As Boolean

Dim oApp As Outlook.Application
Dim oNameSpace As Outlook.Namespace
Dim oApptItem As Outlook.AppointmentItem
Dim oFolder As Outlook.MAPIFolder
Dim oMeetingoApptItem As Outlook.MeetingItem
Dim oObject As Object

On Error Resume Next
' check if Outlook is running
Set oApp = GetObject("Outlook.Application")
If Err <> 0 Then
'if not running, start it
Set oApp = CreateObject("Outlook.Application")
End If

Set oNameSpace = oApp.GetNamespace("MAPI")
Set oFolder = oNameSpace.GetDefaultFolder(olFolderCalendar)

CheckAppointment = False
For Each oObject In oFolder.Items
If oObject.Class = olAppointment Then
Set oApptItem = oObject
If oApptItem.Start = argCheckDate Then
CheckAppointment = True
End If
End If
Next oObject

Set oApp = Nothing
Set oNameSpace = Nothing
Set oApptItem = Nothing
Set oFolder = Nothing
Set oObject = Nothing

End Function

For this to work you need to have Tools/References/Microsoft Outlook xx Object Library enabled.
Then alter your macro like this

Code:

Private Sub cmdOutApt_Click()
' Create the Outlook session
Set myOutlook = CreateObject("Outlook.Application")
' Start at row 2
r = 2
Do Until Trim(Cells(r, 1).Value) = "&q... Read more

Hi Guys,

is it possible for the calender in Outlook to automatically search for the next available appointment time rather than have to search manulally. I am looking at using the calender to show me when a room is booked.

Many thanks

Gogs

Answer:Next available appointment - outlook

Not really. You could just try to book the room with the time you want and if it is set up to automatically reject conflicts it will deny the request. There is a "Schedule" feature in the newer versions of Outlook that let you at a glance look at anyones or a collective group of schedules for anyone or thing in an Exchange setting.

I created a small application using vb.net 2008 to insert an appointment in to Outlook 2003. It actually worked the first couple of times I did it but now I am getting an error message "You don't have the permission to move this item". I am not moving an item at all I am just adding one. There are no time conflicts.
The error stops when it is trying to set the date but I suspect the problem is in Outlook. I tried the same program on another computer and it worked fine.

I am using the MSN Stock Quote addin with MS Excel 2003. Prior knowledge of this should not be necessary, but I just thought I'd provide full context to my issue. I wrote a macro that essentially records daily stock prices. Because I don't want to store old quotes into perpetuity, i need to ensure that the update quotes button has been hit. I use sendkey() to accomplish this, and then the macro copies the quotes and pastes them elsewhere. My main goal is to have the task scheduler open this file daily so i dont ever have to think about this again, and i'm so close. Essentially my problem is that it takes a few seconds after the update button is hit for the add-in to fetch the new prices from the internet, and this process appears to be delayed until the macro is finished. This is a problem because the macro ends up recording un-updated quotes. I have tried the Application.Wait procedure, and I've tried time consuming loops, do while loops, etc. All of these approaches result in the same thing: Can someone please help me with this? I'm too lazy to hand update this spreadsheet every trading day for the rest of my life (or until i quit). Thank you in advance!

Answer:Excel Macro - Allow cells to update query before macro completes

Can't you just put the update macro code in a module of it's own and call it from the main macro?

Basically this is the problem, I?d be so thankful to have your support to find out the cause of it.Description:only two of many appointments from (Vice President) are showing in the right time in (VP SECRETARY) agenda, but wrong (1 hour later) in everyone else (in schedule view).And some are duplicated (both in wrong time).The time is set accurately, daylight saving time and (Outlook) UTC time;The OutlookTimeZoneMove.exe didn?t change anything;The .OST file was recreated (after that appears another appointment in the wrong time);The User Logon in another PC (and the error remains);

Answer:Outlook appointment times

Assuming you're using Exchange, you'd need to verify the time zone is correct on your Mail Servers. Also, make sure the time zones are set correctly on the client PCs.

I need some help here....
I have a user who, when she opens Outlook 2000, she is set up to view her mailbox, as well as our President's. Everything is fine, except that when ANYONE sends an Appointment Request to the President, it goes directly to the assistants Inbox and the President never sees it at all. If the assistant accepts the requsts, it will THEN show up on the Presidents calendar, but never in his Inbox. I believe I've checked all the Rules on both sides, and haven't found anything there....Any ideas? Please?
And yes, we are running Exchange (5.5).
Thanks.

Answer:Outlook Appointment Requests

Needajob,

Check the delegates and permissions for both and the profile for the President. The admin has permission to view and accept the President's meeting requests. The President has his profile set so he doesn't even see the request just the meeting acceptance in his calendar. Hope this helps.

Removed all sharing from his calander
Removed him from the distribution list
Ensured his exchange and domain profile has no random settings.
After each of these changes were made I tested and found it is still happening. I suspect there is a setting in his outlook cleint but have been unable to find it.

Has anyone come accross this before?

With the Calendar screen showing, if I click Actions, nothing happens if I click any of the options (e.g. meetings and appointments).

None of the options I tried are grayed out; they just don't do anything.

I am looking for an add in for Microsoft Outlook to remind of scheduled appointments. I have found some that will remind me of a scheduled appointment, but what I want is a way to automatically send a reminder to a client scheduled appointment in Outlook. For example a day before the meeting a reminder is e-mailed to the client. I would like e-mail to be custom with my logo and personal salutation, but also pull the appointment information from Outlook. It seems that it would be simple to add the Client's name and email address when the appointment is scheduled, and a option of when the reminder should be sent. Does anyone have any ideas or recomendations?

Hi!

Iím a IT tech and we have a problem here with some users.

In outlook, when creating a appointment and look at the print preview (or when we print), the appointments donít look the same.

In case A (the case I want to happen on every computer), we see the whole appointment, ďmulti-line viewĒ.

In case B (the problem), we just see a part of the line (the lineís cut), itís single-line.

See:

Case A (the OK situation):
Case B (the problem):
I uninstalled Office + reinstalled it and the problem occurs again. On the same Exchange account, on two different computer, I can get the Case A on one computer and the Case B on the second. So I guess itís not Exchange related.

We use Windows XP Pro SP2 and Office 2003 SP3.

So my guess itís NT account related or an option in Outlook that I overlooked the 10 times I checked.

Can someone help me here?

Thanks a lot and sorry for my English! 

Hi,I use Outlook's diary feature quite a lot on my Pocket PC and want to be able to sync my work schedule quickly and easily. My problem here however is as I work shifts I could be rota'd to work 1 out of 5 different start and finish times, I never have anything different to this. Therefore it would be great if there was a way that I could get the software to automate the actual entry process then all I would need to do is go to the day in question and then select from my list of 5. Then let Outlook create all the start/finish times and other details automatically. Can anyone tell me if or how to do this by setting up macros, I can't seem to make any sense out of help topics.Thanks.

One of my clients works in an Exchange environment. When she forwards a Calendar entry to another employee, the employee receives a vcalendar attachment that opens as a Calendar entry on their copy of Outlook.

When she sends the same email to me via POP3 email, the attachment is simply a forwarded email message, with the vcalendar text as the email body.

When I forward her a calendar entry, she receives it properly.

Is this an Outlook configuration issue, or an issue of Exchange vs POP3 message processing?

3. You can now edit the finer details of the appointment.

Hi

I would like to be able to allow the user to double-click on [NextApptDate] field on my db which would then open a new Outlook appointment with the following information transerred across:

Subject = [ClientID], [Forenames], [Surname]
Start date = [NextApptDate]
Start time = [NextAppTime]
End date = [NextApptDate]
End time = [NextApptTime]+1/2 hour
Reminder = 15 minutes

I am partially there and have succeeded in getting a new Outlook Appointment to open on double-click with the following:

Private Sub NextApptDate_DblClick(Cancel As Integer)
On Error GoTo StartError
Dim objOutlook As Object
Dim objItem As Object
'Create a Microsoft Outlook object.
Set objOutlook = CreateObject("Outlook.Application")
'Create and open a new contact form for input.
Set objItem = objOutlook.CreateItem(olAppointmentItem)
objItem.Display
'Quit Microsoft Outlook.
Set objOutlook = Nothing

Exit Sub
StartError:
MsgBox "Error: " & Err & " " & Error
Exit Sub
End Sub

Does anyone know how I amend the above to include the information that I described earlier?

Many thanks

I just installed Outlook 2007 on my computer. Everything seems to work properly with one exception. When I attempt to email an appointment I create in the calendar view, the email message goes to the Outbox but just stays there. Other email messages go out without any problem. Actually I noticed that if I edit a calendar item I created in Outlook 2002 before I upgraded to 2007 and send this updated item, it gets sent.

I am guessing there is some formatting issue/option I have overlooked.

I am able to receive calendar appointments I receive from email. They get scheduled in my 2007 calendar properly.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Hi. I am using Outlook 2003 with the Business Contact Manager installed. The PC is running XP Pro SP3.

The problem I'm having is that the appointment reminder doesn't work. I don't know why because I use Outlook 2003 on 3 computers and this one is the only one that has this issue. Could it be something with the BCM since it's only on this PC?

I saw something on the MS website that said something about the reminder not working if the Outlook installation was set to handle mail through the main system while using the calendar in the Personal folders (.PST) so I made sure to set an appointment in the calendar for both to see which one would work but neither worked. Okay - this is the weirdest thing! I have an appointment that keeps reoccurring every 2 hours, and it tells me that I have an appointment at 4PM on December 31st, NINETEEN SEVENTY NINE!!! My computer wasn't even BORN in 1979!! I have tried everything I can think of to make this go away, but it won't let me delete it. By-the-way, when I look at the reoccurance screen, it says once per week - so why does it come up every two hours? How strange is this?!?!?

Many kudos to anyone who can answer this one!

I just loaded 2007 on my laptop and then discovered i also had this issue in 2003. We arent sure if it is a windows profile issue or an exchange profile issue BUT...
i went to a date a month out. I right clicked and chose a new appt. The window popped up and the date was todays date, no matter when i select a date, it defaults to today's date. no one else has this issue.
it gets weirder. I just click on the calendar day and start to type in a new appt. it not only doesnt allow me to extend the time beyond 30 minutes, a reminder window pops up telling me that i have the appt in 5 minutes...no matter which date i select. and the appts dont show up. HOWEVER, if i open OWA, everything is perfect, the date is correct and all of the "test" appts i created in the full version of outlook show up. it also seems to work if i am checking another person's calendar.
I am stumped. i have tried it on computers i have never logged into and it does the same thing so it isnt a little nugget saved somewhere, it has to be a profile issue but which profile and has anyone heard of this before?

I have a problem with appointments on Outlook 2003: User A sends me an appointment. I accept and the appointment appears on my calendar and the appointment message is automatically deleted from my Inbox. Fine so far. User A sends me the same appointment a few days later. The message says that I have a conflict on my schedule. If I accept the appointment, two (2) appointments reading the same appear in my calendar. If I delete the message from my Inbox, the original appointment disappears from my calendar. What am I doing wrong? The Outlook Help files are, as usual, no help at all.

Try to open Outlook with the switch "/cleanreminders"
Syntax would be like this (without quotations):

Type that on the RUN command line (Start, Run).

I think it might work if you type only "outlook /cleanreminders"

On upgrading from Outlook 2003 to 2007 the calendar view now includes the meeting organiser in the calendar entry. Worse still the organiser is automatically generated by Outlook from the profile of whoever makes the diary entry and quite often this is not the person who owns the meeting.

This creates a very cluttered view of the appointments and distracts from the purpose.
The weekly and Monthly views are impacted by this.

Can anyone please describe how to modify/ remove elements that show in the appointment details especially the "Meeting Organiser Field"?:

I want to do recurring appointments that saves any changes onto future reminders.
For example, a reminder with "buy one apple" that recurs every Monday. If you change it to "buy one apple and a banana" then click on 'save and close' it won't change the reminder to include the banana for future reminders. it remains as "buy one apple" because that is the original appointment.

My PC uses Windows XP and I am using Outlook 2007. In the Calendar Section, I have recently got a "Reminder" which wont be dismissed.

When I DO click Dismiss, I get a message: Cannot turn off the reminder. You may be reminded again. Cannot locate recurrence information for this appointment.

It was an entry to do some extra cover at work that I did for some time, but I deleted a while ago, but don't understand why if the calendar entry has been deleted that the reminder has not!?!

I also sync with an iPhone which of course mirrors the calendar and I suppose at some point the iPhone HAD the calendar entry when the PC did not, but after the sync it should have been deleted to match the PC.

Is there any way I can I get rid of this reminder?

Answer:Solved: Outlook 2007 Calendar appointment Reminder

Hello Anewor,

Please try the following:

1. Select "Calendar" so that you are viewing the calendar
2. Near "File" at the top of the window click "View" -> "Current View" -> "All Appointments"
3. Locate the appointment that keeps generating the reminder and delete it. Outlook will promp several errors, but just click through them and the appointment should be deleted now.
4. Restart Outlook.

Hopefully this helps.

Hello, I am automating a Word document and I would like to include some code that will check to see if an Outlook appointment inspector is open, and if so, will import the date and time of the appointment into the Word userform. If there is no inspector open it should just leave the textboxes in the userform blank.

I am using Windows 7 and Office 2010. I have some experience with Word VBA but very little with Outlook, and almost no experience in making the different programs work together.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have seen this on 3 different computers now. When you create a new appointment in the Outlook 2003 calendar and save/close the appointment, Outlook crashes and offers to send a notice to Microsoft. There are no viruses or spyware programs on these computers. I am sure that it is an Outlook error.

I can copy an appointment and edit it, but not create a brand new appointment.

I have been nosing around fixes where you delete and rebuild corrupt dat files (view.dat, outcmd.dat, frmcache.dat and extend.dat) but no fixes that work so far. Anyone found a way to fix it for good?

Thanks to all...

DO you have the latest SP2 for Office 2003?

Are the PCs on a network using Exchange Server for shared calendars, email etc?

If using XP or similar OS, in the Event Logs is their any more info on which modules or apps within Outlook or the OS that could be causing the crash?

Hi all,

Thanks in advance for any and all suggestions. I often schedule appointments with customers by sending an Outlook appointment request. What I have found is that Outlooks defaults all appoints to be "recurring" weekly with no end date. I find this very annoying and it is even difficult, sometimes impossible, to remove the recurrence. Does anyone know of a way to change the default to be one-time events? I've searched the Outlook help menu with no luck.

Thanks,

Hi
Strange one - If I go to my calendar in Outlook and invite attendees to a meeting that goes from lets say 9 to 9:30 - the recipients receive the invite, but the times are changed to 10 to 10:30. I've double checked and tried it many times with the same outcome.
What can this be??
Thank you!!

Answer:Solved: appointment time changes on invited attendees in outlook

Hi mchale, welcome to TSG.

Sounds like maybe you have a different time zone option set than they do. Try going to Tools/Options/Preferences and clicking "Calendar Options". Under Advanced Options click "Time Zone" and see if there are any differences in the time zone or in the daylight savings time option. Hope that helps.

I am looking for help in writing a macro that will do the following.

With Excel 2003 open and the current workbook open. The macro should be able to save 3 variables from the current spreadsheet (some text, a value and a date ) The macro should open up Outlook 2003 as a task, attach the current workbook. In the Subject field of the task it should add the user's name, then the attached spreadsheet's filename then the text variable, then the value variable and finally the date.

Also it would be great if the Priority of the task could be set to High and the Start and Due dates set to 3 calendar days before the date variable.

Finally the macro would set a list of people the task is assigned to. The macro should NOT save the task as a check would need to be done manually.

I have tried unsuccessfully to write a macro in Outlook as I cannot seem to access the attachment filename or any data from the file. I have tried a macro in Excel which I can create a task and add some text to the Subject of the task but with no real progress on the attachment.

I have tried searching the net for help but a lot of code for Outlook is for the mail side of things rather than tasks and the little code snippets I have found have been of limited use. I have limited skills in programming Visual Basic and C so quite prepared to get my use code which does similar things

My client has Office outlook 2007 installed on his laptop running Windows 10. Upon receipt of an email the attachment goes to his calendar. Up until 7 days ago he was able to open the attachment/appointment directly from his calendar. The attachment/appointment is a .pdf file...I clicked on the attachment and a splash screen came up telling me he had to have "outlook" installed in order to view this file. Outlook is installed on the laptop! I was unable to open the file. He has outlook installed as well as Acrobat Reader XI. I tried right clicking on the file and received negative results. The problem just began appearing this week.
He receives emails for his job...the supervisor invites him to accept the appointment or not. He accepts the appointment but then is unable to open the appointment/attachment.
I recommended he download MS Office 365 which is what I have done, installing it on my Windows box and my Mac Mini. Not sure how to help him at this point.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Cheers and beers!!

Hi there,

I use MS Office Live Small Business for my website and email. I use Outlook to manage my email on my computer, connecting to Office Live with Outlook Connector. Till now, I have not used the online Office Live calendar, I've simply used the default Outlook calendar on my computer. Today, though, I received a meeting request from a client. I "accepted" the meeting and checked in my calendar to make sure it had recorded it, but could not see it. I eventually found it in my online Office Live calendar.

So now I have two active calendars, which I don't want. Can I tell Office Live to record appointments to my Outlook default calendar? Or would I be better off switching to the online Office Live calendar? If I do the latter, is there a quick and easy (!) way to transfer all my appointments from my default Outlook calendar to the online version?

(One reason for wanting to use only one calendar is that my HTC smartphone will only sync to one calendar, so it doesn't pick up any appointments on any other calendar.)

Sorry about the long-winded question. Help and advice will be gratefully received.

Answer:Appointment requests from Office Live into default Outlook calendar?

When i accept email meeting invitations in my computer outlook, they get put into a secondary calendar - not the live calendar. So when i'm on my windows 7 phone or my ipad those appointments don't show up (since it only shows the live calendar) - help! What to do?

No-one has responded to this same question 267 days ago. Does that mean there is no solution or does it mean that the answer is so easy and glaring me in the face?

Please respond someone. Many thanks.

I am using Office 2000 Professional. Outlook calendar crashes every time I try to open a specific appointment, giving error msg and the option to send error report to Microsoft, and then closes. I've seen that this has happened to others on even newer Office versions, but have not seen a solution for Ofc/2000. Worked fine for 13 years!

Answer:Outlook 2000 calendar crashes attempting to open appointment

What is the error message you are getting? Also what is the service pack for your Office Outlook 2000? You might want to update it to the latest service pack which is Service Pack 3. This patch has a list of updates for many errors that was occurring.When you say that Outlook crashes when you open an appointment, is that when opening the appointment or accepting the appointment? Hello,

I'm gradually learning VBA for Outlook 2003, which we still use at work. I can successfully create a custom command bar (and buttons) in the main Outlook window, but I want to have it associated only with an open appointment (the buttons are to run code specific to an appointment). I think I need to have the code attach it to an open Appointment Inspector, but I don't have the necessary skill to set this up. I'd be really grateful if anyone could point me in the right direction and save the frustration!

Many thanks.

Update OK - I've now worked out how to use VBA to create the command bar and buttons in an open Appointment Inspector window. I can get the code to run by using F5 from the VB window, but I still need the code to express, "Automatically run this subroutine each time an appointment inspector window opens."

Any help gratefully received!

Hi, I'm new to this forum (actually forums in general) I was wondering if anyone could help me with a macro code. I work with 4 Excel sheets for my shippments, 2 sets for one plant and 2 for the other but all within the same file.

What I am trying to do is set up a macro that will automatically search for changes within sheet 1 (also for sheet 3, the other plant) When I change the rows color from blank to green/red, I need the macro to automatically cut that whole row and paste it into sheet 2 on the next blank row.

This doesn't seem like it would be that hard to do, but I know know the whole macro language.

If you can answer this please send me an email to soulblazor(@)hotmail.com

Thank you for your help.

Hello again,

I have a word doc that has a form in it. The form may have any number of fields (boxes) to type text answers into, or be a drop down list to select an answer from. I need an excel macro that extracts all data from the form, but with every five fields starting a new row in excel. So all data from the form will appear within 5 columns in an excel spreadsheet.

field 1 field 2 field 3 field 4 field 5
field 6 field 7 field 8 field 9 field 10
etc

Is that possible? I have had no luck to do it myself.

Sample form attached, thank you

Iím using Windows 7 and I used a macro which worked totally fine under Excel 2003. Now, under Excel 2007 it does not run anymore but displays the following error message:

"Run-time error '445':
Object doesn't support this action.

The function of the macro is to open up all other Excel spreadsheets located in the same folder and copy data out of them into the spreadsheet in which the macro is stored.

When I click on "Debug" the Visual Basic Editor highlights the row which says: Set FilSrch = Application.FileSearch

Can you help me with this? I've searched for a solution for a long time but could not find anything which worked.

The following is the start of the macro code:

Hi,

I was wondering if anyone could help me. I need to extract data from multiple excel files into a new excel file and sum the values. The data comes from excel files that are made from a template so the data is always in the same place or same cells. For example, i have data saved daily in excel files with the following naming convention 080204, 080304, 080404,..... and so on. What i would like to do is have a macro that will create a week ending sheet by importing and summing the data from that week.

I am trying to create a code that will autofilter data on an Excel worksheet. The code works fine to filter the data, but it does not hide the AutoFilter Arrows.

Code:

ActiveSheet.Range("A1:D500").AutoFilter Field:=2, Criteria1:="<>", Visibledropdown:=False

Answer:Solved: Excel 2007 Macro -> Hide Excel AutoFilter Arrows

I noticed that the code above (in Post #1) that the AutoFilter Arrows were beinf truned off on Field 2, but none of the others.

I have played around, and done some research to come up with the code below:
Code:

Dim c As Range

For Each c In ActiveSheet.Range("A1:D1")
ActiveSheet.Range("A1:D500").AutoFilter Field:=2, Criteria1:="<>"
c.AutoFilter Field:=c.Column, Visibledropdown:=False
Next

Does anyone have a better solution?
