Double Spacing Envelope Address instead of Single Space

Question: Double Spacing Envelope Address instead of Single Space

My issue is one that I see has been discussed some time before (2004-2008) but I tried their solutions and nothing worked. I am entering addresses into Word and then when I need them, they are all in the same place. In order to print an envelope with a specific address, I highlight the entire address, select the "Mailing" group and then Envelopes.

Currently the address gets populated into the envelope window but makes it double-spaced instead of single place (and it is single spaced in the Word document and the paragraph setting is set to "0" and the line space is set to "1"). I cannot seem to find any way to get the envelope back to single spacing. Even if I try manually entering the address, it still formats it in double-space.

Is there a fix for this?

Preferred Solution: Double Spacing Envelope Address instead of Single Space

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

So I don't know how it happened but on a whole site on Dreamweaver all the files have double spacing and it's really cool and all because it's neat now but I need to get it back to single spacing because there's a lot of code to go through and double spacing takes forever. What did I do and how can I get it back to single spacing? Thanks.

Hi Everyone,
Firstly an aside. After the last Win 10 update I found I could not access PC Advisor, the password/email wasn't recognised. The password had to be reset. Anybody else have things happen like this? After the Anniversary Update the installation took over 10 hours and then a further lengthy period when the machine wouldn't start, until a series of forced shutdowns seemed to kick it up the proverbial and since then it's been relatively OK. Windows 10, yuk!
Now to the main complaint. In Word 2007 Student Version (which is actually 'Works' under another name so it says),clicking on 'Mailings' to bring up 'Envelope' results in not being able to type an address with only single spacing. It always has greater spacing than that and will not print on a DL envelope even with the start point raised to its maximum. It drops the Postcode. I assume since I have not modified the program in any way that this is standard default for every installation of Word 2007 Student Version. I've set the Word home page default to single spacing (it was set to 1.15 as original default, WHY?) for writing letters, but this has no influence on the default for spacing on envelopes. Can anyone supply a workaround or correction. It might be me but I don't think so. I use programs without modification or personalisation, I have too little knowledge to diverge from the defaults in most cases, so why are they so seemingly illogical as to deliberately make it impossible to address an envelope and not fo... I've had Dazzle Envelope Manager since 2000. Do you believe it? :-) And it still works on my Asus M32B PC with Windows 8.1, but is starting to get a little flaky around the edges.

I don't even have an install disk. I think I bought it for around $20 at the time, and it was a download.

Since then, they stopped selling it for home / home office use, and went big time with a big company version only. ( As in $500+ dollars? ) But I only print one envelope at a time, to mail my SOHO clients, so I don't use mailing lists and need all that.

The reason I still need it, and haven't found a replacement, is that, when I put in an address and hit Ctrl-Z, it goes to some site called www.dial-a-zip.com and looks up the Zip+4, then puts it on the envelope for me - all in one step, with bar code, so I can print it. And for the life of me, I cant find anything that does this, to replace it with, in the same affordable price range, for home / home office use. Someone is missing some entrepreneurial opportunity here! :-) Isn't that crazy? I've searched and searched, and only found really basic and free envelope printer softwares, and some function of Microsoft Word that supposedly prints envelopes too, but I don't use Word or Microsoft Office. Who can afford that expensive thing, when OpenOffice is out there for free?

But, does anyone know of a modern replacement that does the same thing, without having to schlep to some USPS site and look up each address manually?

Does anyone know an easy way to generate a single envelope in an Access database that has 500 records (addresses). Is there a macro - or a simple filtering technique?

I have a live.ca e-mail address and my friend has an outlook.com e-mail address.

When they receive my e-mail, the spacing is being doubled. As in... single spacing between sentences appears double spaced, double spacing between paragraphs appears tripled. Yet, on my end, when I created the e-mail, it looks fine.

Also, when I receive their e-mail and they send an image within the message, instead of the image there's a small square which looks like a little mountain. The image appears as soon as I click on reply. Then afterwords anytime opening the e-mail the picture shows no problem.

Are the 2 e-mail programs just conflicting with each other?
(I've had the live.ca e-mail addy for a few years and they just created the outlook.com e-mail addy recently).

I am trying to print a DL envelope using Word 2007, but it prints double line spaced. Any ideas how I can get the printer to print the address on envelopes with single line spacing please? When typing in the address, I can't get it to allow single line spacing.

Answer:Envelope printing is double line spaced

If it's not displaying correctly in the Word Document, then it's certainly not going to print the way you want it to.Highlight the text, Click on the Page Layout Tab, and check the spacing to make sure it's 0 Before and After. My guess is the After is set to 10 pt.LIR

I use Net Objects Fusion for my web sites and when setting up text the enter key generates a paragraph symbol (double line spacing) and shift+enter produces a normal (single) line space. Having just updated some of the web sites I find that Outlook Express is requiring the same use of the Enter and shift keys to get the correct line spacing in emails. How can I stop this ? I can find nothing in the 'Format' tab in OE to stop unwanted double spacing. Odd, isn't it?

I have a new Kaby Lake I7 XPS 13. I have 2 issues.
First is poor battery life (balanced plan 50% display brightness getting  about 4 hours)
The second issue is the keyboard. It all works perfectly apart from every fourth or fifth word it adds an extra space between words. I see this has been an issue for other Dell laptops in the past.
I've updated all drivers and the BIOS from the website so everything is up to date.
Anyone else seen issues like this and know of a solution?

A document was typed Word  2002 erroneously, double spacing by using the enter key. How do I reformat the document toautomatically double space?

Answer:Double spacing in Word 2002

Word 2003 has an icon/button on the Formatting toolbar to change the spacing.  I would guess Word 2002 has it, also.  The icon has 4 small horizontal lines representing text and has an up arrow and a down arrow on it, also. If I hover my mouse over it, the tooltip box says, "Line Spacing".  I'm not sure that button is displayed by default on the Formatting toolbar; I may have added it via Customization.

using Notepad with word-wrap on, everything works fine, until I save the file, after which, if I amend a line and the text adjusts (or I re-size the window, and expect the wrapping to follow suit), it fails to wrap properly--it's as if, saving it, it hasn't remembered that it was only 'wrapped to window' and not actually paragraphed, so I have to click to the end of each broken sentence and backspace to recreate proper word-wrapping...which displays/wraps/etc. just fine and dandy until saving the txt again.

when I copy-paste some lines of text from Notepad into Wordpad, after this wrapping issue has occurred, Wordpad displays the text wrapping in accord with the Wordpad settings, the only bug being that where Notepad had wrapped the lines of text there is now two spaces between the word instead of just the one.

I know this is remarkably trivial, but it has been niggling at me for ages, and I'm just curious how aware of this people are, and how it is regarded (I mean, is this a feature desirable for the way other people tend to use that program?)

Answer:Notepad wordwrap ?bug? - double spacing

Text editors like Notepad, for the most part understand printing characters and white space, line breaks and carriage returns only, and the concepts of page size, paragraphs and line spacing falls into the realm of word processing, of which Wordpad is a simple example.

If a text document with line breaks is put into a word processor like MS Word, each line break signifies a new paragraph, which can be seen if the non-printing character codes are shown.

If a text document is wrapped by inserting line breaks to fit within a window, and a word processor which automatically inserts an extra line at the end of paragraphs is used to view the text file, it will appear double spaced.

No bug, just a conflict of two different systems.

In DOS, there is no problem as everything is single spaced. I have tried swapping parallel cables, deleting the printer and readding it. Tried latest Panasonic driver for this printer but no help.

Two things to try.

1) Change printer port mode from ECP to standard in BIOS.

2) In Printer settings, Advanced, change from EMF to RAW.

If you have Word 2007 or later, press Ctrl+Alt+Shift+S or Ctrl+Shift+S. You will get the Styles & Formatting pane on the right, with the Envelope Address style highlighted. Right-click the Envelope Address style in the pane and choose Modify. In the Formatting section of the Modify Style dialog, you should see three buttons for Single, 1.5 Line and Double spacing. Something happened to my Outlook 2007 at work. I could ask IT for support but their answer to this type of problem is to install a new image on the machine (i.e: wipe the drive and re-image it).

When composing and replying to any messages, all paragraphs are double spaced. I have checked to be sure I am using the 'Normal' template, and under Format Text > Paragraph, line spacing is set to 'Single'. Looks like this:

Edit: I don't have this problem when composing a document in Word 2007, so I don't think it is the normal.dotm template (unless Outlook and Word use separate templates).

Answer:Solved: Outlook 2007 - Double Spacing

The template file used by the email editor is different from the template that is used when you use Word as a stand alone application. Look for the system file called normalemail.dotm and delete it once found and it will be re-created the next time Outlook starts.

I am hoping some of your brilliant computer experts can help me.

I run 2003 Outlook - I like to send and recieve HTML e-mails. The progam is set to use Word 2003 as my text editor.

For some reason when I access my web mail and read the e-mails that I have sent to myself I noticed tthat most of the time the e-mail comes in double spaced/large spaces between paragraphs, and sometimes parts of the text may be a different font, even thought I know that is not what I sent to myself. This too is happening to the other people I send this to because sometimes I see it in the replies and also others have told me that they come in with large spaces in between the paragraphs.

Any idea what is happening? Any suggestions other than switch to plain text?

Can anyone know how to fix it back to single spacing permanently? (need to include the signature)

Answer:The message became double spacing after signature was added in outlook? Help

I suspect it's not double-space formatting, but space between paragraphs that's formatted.

Signatures are generally HTML format, so your message picks that up. Tell your colleage to use Shift+Enter instead of Enter when he wants a new paragraph in the email message.

I'm not that proficient when using Wordpad. When typing sentences and hitting the Enter key, Wordpad double spaces down (1.5 or whatever) before the next sentence starts. This happens even when I copy sentences with single spacing as the original text. Wordpad wants to open that copied text with double spacing between the sentences.

I fiddle around with it and eventually get it to work, then forget how I did it. I'd like to force a default single spacing between sentences upon pressing the Enter key. When I do set it to single space sentences, it defaults to double spacing them when re-opening Wordpad. If there's some registry setting to single space by default, I'm game.

Answer:Wordpad. Annoying double spacing of sentences when pressing Enter key

Hi:

The double-line space when hitting "enter" is the norm in most editors now.

Easiest workaround: use Shift+Enter to get a single line space.
Of course, you don't use the "+" key -- just the SHIFT key and the ENTER key.
(I tried it just now on one of my Win7 boxes and it works.)

It's a PITA at first, but not bad once one gets used to it.

I'm using Outlook 2003, with MS Word as my email Editor. All new emails that I create are automatically defaulting to double spacing. When I go:

Format/paragraph/indents and spacing the options there are telling me that its 0pt before and after and its on single spacing - but it obviously not! I've tried switching it to plain text and the problem remains. Its not a spacing between paragraphs issue as it appears without hitting return, although I did try shift+enter but it still comes back with double spacing.

If I switch it back to not using Word as my email editor the problem disappears, but when I open word its not having this problem within there - only from Outlook.

I don't use any signitures, and neither am I using any stationary. The email opens with the Style on normal - same as Word application itself.

I'm pretty good with word, and what I can't solve myself I can usually find on the net somewhere, but this has me scratching my head...and it hurts. I've seen a fair few posts but no one seems to be able to solve it.

Any help would be a huge relief.

Thanks

To address a envelope, there is an address book icon to get your send address from. Right now when I click on the book it brings up the Micro-Exchange address book. How can I chnage that to go to my MS Outlook Express address book?
Also wanted to check on this again. No response last time.?
A friend of mine wanted to know if the cursor in Word could be made to stop blinking. For some reason she wants to see it all the time when moving it using the space bar.

Thanks again.

Answer:MS Word 97 Envelope Address book

1. I'm not sure about. You might want to try putting that in the All Other Software forum. We're MS Office geeks here mostly. But someone may know.

2. Blinking cursor: I checked with my coder when I saw your first Q. No can do. I guess you could liken it to saying you wanted your Word window to be round instead of rectangular.

I have just been trying to address an envelope in MS Word and the address is too long, it has too many lines to be printed I think. It shows ok on the screen but when I print it the last two lines are cut off. I presume there is a simple fix (I'm sure I've done it before!) but I can't remember, I use Word so infrequently. Can anyone help me please?

Hi,
I have kept Outlook 2003 just to have an address source for Word 2007 envelopes. Is there a way to direct word to another address source?
Could I, for example, set up a MYSQL data base of addresses and get them into the Word envelopes?
Or, could I use an Excel table?
Thanks

Question: ip address spacing

ok i know this is probably a stupid question but i thought its about time i ask it and get a answer once and for all..

while on my work experiance many years ago, i was told that your best to space ip addresses out eg 192.168.0.10 192.168.0.20 192.168.0.30 and not run them next to each other eg 192.168.0.1 192.168.0.2 192.168.0.3

is there any reason for this or does it really not matter so long as they are all different?

A problem I have tried to overcome when printing addresses in Word 2008. When I type the address in the address box, it produces spaces between each line of the address. Thus when I print out the envelope it omits some of the lines of the address when using small envelopes. How can I stop it putting spaces between each line?

Answer:envelope address layout in word 2008

Try this, open Word and click on "No Spacing" on the toolbar at the top.

I go to Tools > Letters and Mailings > Envelopes and Labels. I would like to insert an address from another program, which is GroupWise 6.5. When I click on the Insert Address button, I receive a message that says, "Address Book failure: "Unspecified error". Check your Mail setup. You must have Extended MAPI version 1.0 or higher to use this feature." I wasn't sure if this was related to Office or GroupWise. It worked ok on Word 2000, while running GroupWise 6.5.

Am I the only one to notice and complain over this in W8.1.

This morning a new Adobe Flash update has appeared, KB3079777. The update is sized at 17.9mb. Nothing is running on the PC, its idle and with no disk activity. Free space is 55.4GB. I apply the update and free space immediately falls to 54.9gb. This behaviour is consistent with every such patch applied. Now over time, that space will return which suggests that something else is going on here. But what ?

Answer:Free disk space & space used by a single Flash Update.

Looks like it is just me then. Today brought a 4.6Mb W8.1>W10 computability update. My free space changed from 55.2Gb to 54.7Gb.

Sounds about right. Ho hum....

Hi,

I?m using Windows 2010.

I go to the mailing tab and click on envelope.

I already have my Return Address saved and it shows on the envelope in the box.

I type in a Delivery Address.

How do I save it in case I want to use it again later?

There is an icon of a book that brings up my contacts in Outlook just above the envelope. I don?t have any addresses in it and I don?t want to put any in.

If I can make a different contact book just for mailings, how do I do it?

Greetings,

I need a step by step list to make the font sizes of my return address envelopes bigger by about two levels. I am happy with the font size of the delivery address default, but the return address default is too small. The guide I found on line wasn't very helpful, as it read like brain surgery!

I have legacy Word experience using Word 97-2003, and envelope settings were much easier to select on those versions! Note that I want to keep the return address envelope font size as the default envelope setting.

Greetings Fellow ThinkPad Users: I recently bought two E520's (Dec. 6th, 2011). One performed perfectly. The second one however, had a defective "B" memory slot which prevented me from up-grading its RAM to 8GB, and exhibited an intermittent double-space problem when typing. This is an occasional problem, occurring only once or twice per line of text. Since I am a writer, one can see how this might be extremely irritating.  I shipped this machine down to the Repair Center in Memphis, where they replaced the systems-board and keyboard. They also re-imaged the hard-drive, effectively returning to me a virtually new machine. Astonishingly, despite these Herculean efforts, I still experience the same double-space error that I experienced originally. Quite frustrated, as one might imagine, I entered into the device manager and adjusted the "Typematic" function to the lowest speed possible. Actually, this did help somewhat, but I still have the same problem. Does anyone have any advice concerning a possible solution to this  annoying enigma? Go into Control Panel, keyboard, under character repeat move the slider for set delay to long.

That gives a slight delay before a key will repeat.  It might just be enough.

Question: Double is Single?

My new Vista64 laptop has been single-clicking me since I got it a couple of weeks ago. I went to the Folder Options right away but double-click is selected. Now figure that? If I sngclk a title bar the window changes. If I sngclk a desktop icon the program opens. Most games I can no longer play. This is driving me nuts.

What is the make and model number of your laptop? It could be that you need to adjust the sensitivity of your touch pad. Details should be found in your user manual.

Hi,
I transferred all my old Excel (2003 and before) files to my new notebook which has Vista HP and Excel 2007. I open an old Excel file and it looks OK but when printing or print previewing, every line appears double-spaced and the document runs over to a second page.
If I change the row height it prints the squeezed up text but still double-spaces. If I copy the whole content of the spreadsheet into a new blank spreadsheet it prints normally.
Is there any setting in Excel 2007 that I might have missed ?
Thanks.

I've just ordered a single 1GB module of Crucial Ballistix memory for a brand new PC system that has no RAM. The website says there is better performance when using "matched pairs" Does this mean 2 sets of 512MB ram modules is better than a single 1GB module or do they mean when upgrading it is better to "add" an identical module?

Answer:DDR Ram - single or double module?

It depends on the motherboard. Some will only work with two sticks of RAM, others with one stick. If the motherboard is quite new, the "matched pairs" probably refers to the same speed memory ie: putting in PC2100 RAM with a higher speed RAM will cause the system to run at the speed of the slower RAM module.Which motherboard/system?

Answer:single/double slot for RAM

i also found out thats the limit of the RAM i can add, does anyone know why that is ? just for future ref, can i add another 2 GB...Click to expand...

It's the limitation of your motherboard chipset and no you can't add more if 2GB is the specified limit. Also, you won't have any problems with having one 2GB as opposed to 2X1GB which is for dual channel which I haven't seen any real performance increase in day to day use. It may make a difference on high end apps or games but I have nothing to back that up. You'll be fine IMO.

As the question really. I need to know how to find out whether my RAM is single or double sided because the mobo I have been looking at will have problems if double sided is used.

This is the RAM I currently have:

TECHGUYS PC2-6400 DDR2-800 DIMM RAM Memory Module - 2GB at cheap prices | PC World

and I want to buy this MOBO:

GA-EG41MF-US2H (rev. 1.3) - GIGABYTE

Answer:How can I tell if my RAM is single or double sided?

the easiest way to tell is simply to pop the hood on your PC and look

If each DIMM has memory chips on only one side of the DIMM's printed circuit
card then it's single sided. If it has memory chips on both sides of the
DIMM's printed circuit card then it's double sided.

Trying to increase the memory in one of my machines.
Currently have 2x512MB and 2x256MB in 4 slots.
All are read.512 sticks are in A, 256 sticks are in B.
All have chips on 1 side only, all are PC-3200 non-ECC.
Trying to replace the 256 sticks with 2 512 sticks(PC-3200 non-ECC), but these have chips on both sides.
With these installed, nothing shows on monitor.reinstall 256 sticks and everything is fine.
This would take me to 2GB RAM if successful and machine has a 4GB max.
What, other than the chip difference, be causing this problem?
New sticks work singly or as only pair, but don't play nice with other pair.

Answer:Single vs. Double sided RAM.

When was the last time you flashed the BIOS on this machine? Update it to the latest mobo version, and try again.

i think the option is to highlight an icon when you hover over it, but i cant find where to change it for the life of me, i know i have done it though.

it would make sense for it to be in the mouse options page, you might check there, i have additional software for my mouse to support all the extra buttons, so they may have neglected to put that option on the modified mouse page. thats where i would check first, it could also be in folder options.

edit: it is in folder options, just open any folder and select tools and folder options, it is at the bottom of the window that opens up.

which is better, for both the new DDR, and the good old ECC, and SDRAM.

Doesn't make any difference. Your motherboard needs to support it however because all motherboards do not support double density memory sticks.

I currently maintain 15 websites, for various different DIY products. Each website has its own email address. We have some one who deals with all email enquiries. We are noticing large amounts of spam. It has been suggested that we use a single email address for all 15 websites.

Other than its going to be a nightmare editing all of the websites to 1 email address, what other pros and cons are there for this idea.
Thanks

i hate it when itime to shop for memory so frigging confusing

i have bought 3 kingston 512MB PC2700 valueram DDR's before (after extended search) and exchange, they have been working fine; so i thgouth DDR just means it's double sided vs SDRAM which is just single sided

so i bought 2 extra sticks from circuity city 512MB PC2700 DDR (even same model as the one i currently have), and when it's time to open it later , i find it's only singled sided!!!!

i see another ad on circuit city this week for $95 less $35 rebate =$60 per 512MB PC2700 DDR kingston KVR333512R, but i now not sure if it's the single sided kind of double; i have gooded and found a bunch of sites including kingston, but kingstons site doesnt seem to have that model, and other etailers selling that model doesnt say double or single sided; they jsut show a picture of 1 side of the RaM which doesnt help me much

can someone please shed some light on this; i'd really appreciate it

I never realized using single sided RAM in my old PC might cause a problem until I contacted a manufacturer. I Googled quite extensively & confirmed this could be an issue. Problem is I cannot find out anything about my PC or mobo regarding which type it uses.

The RAM manufacturer websites either don't list my old PC in their databases or indicate to use 4GB (2GBx2) which it already uses. And so far no response from the HP support forum.

I used 4 different utilities hoping they would indicate what my system required but they didn't.

Is there some software or something within Windows 7 itself which might provide this information?

Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

Answer:How can I tell if my PC requires single or double sided RAM?

RAM modules may be single- or double-sided. Whether your computer will accept a double-sided RAM modules depends on the type of RAM slots available on your computer's motherboard.

Hey all

One thing that I've been meaning to look at for a while, and now am forced to look at, is apostrophies and them in php.

For example:

If someone enters into a text field "My Dad's brand new car". The value of that text field goes to a database..which the code would obviously look something like this

PHP:

$subject $_POST["subject"];
$query "INSERT INTO myDBtable (subject) VALUES ('$subject')";

But of course, thats gonna cause a problem because what mysql is seeing is

INSERT INTO myDBtable (subject) VALUES ('My Dad's brand new car')

the apostrophie in "Dad's" is causing it to think thats its finished.

I've seen people using slashes (/) but it hasn't been explained properly.
Even if someone has a reference to another website, would be helpful.

Answer:php with single and double quotation marks

You are looking for addslashes()

PHP:

$subject addslashes($_POST["subject"]);

For some of use, reading a two-column PDF on a table is torture. My vision is very low. Using a computer screen and the visual aids available, I can get by. But going to a conference or public meeting is a problem. The only thing one can take into some places is a small tabletTwice a week I go  to a local congregation and use either my tablet of oversize print outs to follow along with the lessons. The means I have to do some manhal editing ahead of time to have a document I can easily read. Some materiel is in PDF format on a web site. If it is just on or two pages, I edit it by hand. But a lot of the material is in book form and we do about 16 pages a week. So I depend of getting the PDF in an oversize format. But it is not always available. But a standard two column format is available. Here is my question. What program or service will convert dual column PDF to a single column and also increase the font size?Trying to increase  font size in a dual column document results in a mess. Single column behaves the way you expect.Articles I have found make it seem  very hard to automate.  Any ideas are welcome.

Answer:PDF conversion. double to single column

Is there a way that the owner of the PDF can send you a specially sized version or a word document instead of the PDF in which you can select all and simply increase the font of the document?Years ago one of my clients had poor vision and used the magnifying glass in Windows, but this can be a pain because you have to move it around as your reading etc.

Hello.I have 2 sticks of 256DDR PC2100 in my system and have ordered an extra 512DDR as I have a spare slot. I've just been reading my motherboard manual and it says slots 2 and 3 share the same rows so they must be the same. i.e single sided.Well, crucial have said all their memory is double sided so the 512stick will go into slot 1 okay. I'm thinking of putting the other two 256MB sticks in slots 2 and 3 but they must be single sided.I cant tell. Are their any physical differences that I can look for to determine if they are single or double sided?I havent got the 512 delivered yet but I'm assuming that double sided will have modules running down both sides and single will have it running down one side, is this correct?

Answer:Double and single sided memory

yes, you are correct, its as simple as that. if your existing memory is single sided, move them to slots 2 & 3 and put the new double sided 512mb in slot 1if your existing memory is all double sided then i think you would have to lose a memory strip for it to work.one last thing, if you are using windows98 then the memory might not work as win98 has an upper limit of 512mb total memory, putting more in can actually reduce performance. windows xp/2000/NT does not have this limitation.good luck.p.s. handle the memory by the edges, not on the chips, static electric can and probably will damage the memory.

Also, Internet Explorer ( I use Mozilla anyway ) will not open properly for me either.

also, if I click on Windows update, I jus get a blank screen.
Any ideas?

Hey all, I got this rather annoying problem lately. As title says, my mouse seems to double click when I just clicked once. You can notice that in browsers, when I click on an address in the suggestions, but the click "goes through" and clicks on a bookmark behind the drop down menu which vanished after first click.

Same goes for youtube, when I just want to pause a video, and single click, the video goes to fullscreen which happens only when you double click. Starts to be really annoying.

Same issue can be noticed in few other circumstances as well.. thou now that I think about it, I think it only occurs browser related.

I am using Mionix saiph 1800 mouse.

Answer:Mouse double clicks when i single click

Could be the switch in the mouse is causing that. I just got rid of a Microsoft mouse for that exact problem.

Go into the Mouse configuration panel in the Control Panel and change the LEFT mouse click to the RIGHT click. Then try it with the right mouse button and see if you still get double clicks. If you don't that would confirm that the mouse is the problem.

For a long time now I've been experiencing issues with my old mouse. My old mouse either double-clicked on a single click, or didn't click at all. I assumed the mouse was failing and got a new one. The new mouse is working fine 99% of the time, but every now and then it will randomly double-click on a single click. The mouse can't be failing as it's brand new. I suspect that when it double-clicks that it is registering the downward click as a click and the upward release as a click as well. What I fail to understand is why this only occurs rarely. For the past week I've been attempting to notice when it does double-click and see that it doesn't matter what application I'm using and that I am not double-clicking by mistake.

Answer:Mouse double-clicks on single click

In most instances, especially when it's that rare of an occurance, it's operator error.

Having said that, you can adjust the double click speed in the mouse settings (Control Panel / Mouse / buttons tab).

In this weeks Micro Mart (pg 103 )it says you get more performance from using two Ram sticks at 256mb as opposed to one at 512mb.Why is this ?Does it make a noticable improvement,or only the sort of speed increase that nerds would see under a fleet of benchmarking and diagnostic tools!!?i.e virtually no difference to the majority of every day pc users who don't use the latest and greatest hard and software ?(No offence intended Nerds.)

Answer:Memory Module Performance - Single vs Double.

If your mobo supports dual channel RAM then there is a slight improvement in memory performance, but in a recent memory test in either computer shopper or pcw (cannot remember which) the difference was sufficiently marginal that it hardly seems worthwhile if it costs more. On the other hand, if you have two sticks of RAM and one goes west, your pc will still run. If your single stick goes you ar up a gum tree. Not very likely I know, but with computers the law of Sod does seem to operate!

When I single click my left mouse key, it does a double action.  For instance if I'm playing solitaire it will cause two rows of cards to deal instead of one, and if I want to move a card it will highlight and unhighlight it.  If I try to open a folder, it goes right through to opening the nearest file that appears on the next screen - I have other examples of double actions for a single click.  I've lowered my computer's mouse control setting to slowest, but that didn't affect it in the least.  The packaging didn't actually have a Microsoft compatible logo on it, but it picked up and installed the mouse's software as soon as I first plugged the mouse in.  Any suggestions?

Answer:Double Action Single Clicking Mouse

Try another mouse.

I just done the latest windows update today, it has been sittin there since last week but I havent turned off me PC since it downloaded.

Anyway, since I have done it the mouse is double clicking with only a single click. Also it hard to highlight text and stuff with it as it keep selecting and reselecting.

Anyone have this issue or know what can be done thanks!

Answer:Mouse is double clicking with only a single click.

Give this a try, it may be the solution.
control panel>mouse>double click speed. Try adjusting.
If that does not work, make a system restore, then go a week before the problem see how it works now.
