Microsoft Office Applications "Featured ID Not Registered"

Question: Microsoft Office Applications "Featured ID Not Registered"

Running Windows 7 SP1 64bit OS, and when I go to Start,Programs,Microsoft Office 2010 Home and Student, and try to use word, excel or power point, I get the error "Featured ID Not Registered".

If I open the program from the menu bar at the top of my screen, I can open each of the applications, and work with them normally. I then save the file to my desktop. If I try to open up that recent document from my desktop, I get the same "Feature ID Not Registered" error.

I was going to uninstall all of Microsoft Office 2010 Home and student and then install it again, but it will not uninstall.

Preferred Solution: Microsoft Office Applications "Featured ID Not Registered"

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: Microsoft Office Applications "Featured ID Not Registered"

At this point I would try a 'repair'. Problem points to something wrong with the install (as you have surmized). Go to programs and features, right click Office and select change. then repair > continue

In Word and Excel, when you type "2000", the program automatically changes it to "2001". I have tried changing the regional date system to .../yyyy, with no avail. I have many workstations, and this is the only one with the problem. I also tried re-installing the program, but nothing seems to work.

I've had this frustration since Windows XP and hoped they would fix it by 8, but they really haven't.

I'm an avid Windows Phone user, so my Microsoft Account is full of my contacts, and I'd love to be able to port them into my Contacts folder on Windows 8.

But unfortunately, it never seems to import user's pictures and a few other items, whereas on Outlook.com's People tab, it displays all content fully.

Is there a way to keep a backup of contacts from your Microsoft Account or is it only partial? I may be missing something, here...

Answer:"Contacts" still doesn't seem fully-featured...

Microsoft has always kept the contacts app in Windows very limited. They want people to upgrade to Outlook, and they want businesses to upgrade to MS CRM. If they made this app "fully featured" for free, many people might not buy their commercial products.

It would also piss off all the third party contact app developers.

OK I have a problem which is driving me crazy so please help if you can.

I have just restored my pc's factory settins, so everything has been wiped.

I have not loaded any programs or software on to the pc, except one game I am trying to use.

The program works fine on my laptop and I get no error messages. But when I try and open the program on my pc I get the following message:

"Compenent "MSINET.OCX"or of its dependencies not correctly registered: a file is missing or invalid."

I have downloaded the "MSINET.OCX" file and I have put it in the folder "C:\WINDOWS\system32"

I then type RegSvr32 msinet.ocx in the Start/Run, it the say the registration is successful.

I try to open the game again the error message still comes up.

I have tried another method of trying to register the, "MSINET.OCX" file

by downloading the MSINET.OCX file with another file, putting them in the same folder and clicking install. This also does not fix the problem.

I have tried it on both windows XP Home and Windows XP Proffessional but still get the message.

PLEEEAASSSEE HEEELLLP.

I am not a computer wizz but I have tried everything I have found on the web to do, but no luck, please someone with more brains than me help, thank you, Ash

PLEASE NOTE: I attempted to solve this myself using Group Policy Editor, so I feel my post is unique. If it is not, I apologize, the Search feature did not return anything of use, as others' HijackThis logs were different.

First, thanks for reading...

When I attempt to run ANY Mircrosoft Office programs (2003) I recieve the error message "This operation has been cancelled due to restrictions in effect on this computer. Please contact system administrator..."

Well. I AM the system administrator. I thought about contacting myself then this fact dawned on me.

Anyways I was recently attacked by malware and I used Avast! to delete the viruses... PERHAPS my system is clean. However, the viruses modified my system registry and restricted my programs. Using GPE, I managed to recover my Control Panel, Internet Options, and Desktop Properties via restricting, then unrestricting myself. However, I don't know how to unlock specific programs.

PLEASE look at my HijackThis log, it is imperitive I regain control of Office.

I have run a lot of anti virus software and nothing gets rid of (what I think is) the trojan.zonebac error. The only reason it is such a problem is the fact that when I open Internet Explorer, a window pops up stating that it is configuring microsoft office XP professional. I have to click cancel a couple times and then it finally takes me to the website. This same box pops up when I open Instant Messenger and Microsoft office applications. Any guidance would be appreciated! Thanks!

I've been banging my head on this one for a couple of days and need some help! Recently I tried to open Word and for the first time since installation, the Wind.installer pops up for a sec or two followed by the error message,"Error 1606" Could not access network location. Not a new error I've learned. I did the usual trouble shooting searches through my favorite resources and confirmed it was going to involve a trip to the registry.Seems simple enough...

Everything matched up except REG_EXPAND_SZ %USERPROFILE%\Recent ,so I created it and added it in. No joy!! All following keys were fine in the "Machine" area so.. I would very much appreciate any help on this one. Funny thing,my printer went offline at the same time .Couldn't reinstall that either. Then I remembered their interdependence.Just Realized Where I posted this.Sorry!

I am trying to resolve a PC problem for a relative. He is running Windows 7 and MS Office 2010. Whenever he fires up Outlook he gets a MsgBox advising him that it is "Configuring Microsoft Office 2010".

If he allows it to run to completion it reboots the PC but reappears when he opens Outlook again it reappears. He can (sort of) circumvent the problem by clicking on the "Red X" in the top right-hand corner of the Configuration MsgBox after EVERY single command. This also happens with Word and Excel.

He has Googled the problem and attempted the KB 2528748 Microsoft Support fix without any joy. He has also tried running CCleaner.

Can anyone offer any ideas as to how he can get round this wretched situation?

Answer:Problem with repeated "Configuring Microsoft Office 2010" messages.

An update on this and hope for any help . . .

He has tried:Going to My Computer.
On the top menu, clicking "Uninstall or change a program".
Locating Microsoft Office 2010 in the programs list.
Right-clicking it and selecting "Change".
Sadly it goes all the way, says it is "repairing the problem" then gets to the end and says the process was unsuccessful. Where to next?

Scrooge McDuck is now in charge of Microsoft's consumer cloud division. That's not literally true, of course, but a surprise announcement tonight from the division responsible for the consumer OneDrive service could easily have been written by Mr. McDuck. The new rules roll back a signature feature of the OneDrive service and renege on an extravagant promise that the company made just over a year ago.Source: Microsoft reneges on 'unlimited' OneDrive storage promise for Office 365 subscribersI'm not really affected by the fact that there won't be unlimited storage, since 1TB is more than enough to work with Office documents, but this however...Free OneDrive storage will decrease from 15 GB to 5 GB for all users, current and new. The 15 GB camera roll storage bonus will also be discontinued. These changes will start rolling out in early 2016.It seems like I'll have to build my own private cloud to store my things and keep it accessible 24/7. Now I only have 7GB with Dropbox and 15GB with Google Drive.

I have a Dell Precision M60 workstation, and currently use XP Pro SP2.

I replaced my hardrive earlier this year. After reinstalling all the software and updating everything, my computer ran very slow, and would freeze without an error message when using any office program.

I have contacted dell about this. They checked out my computer remotely and said everything was OK. Then they tried to run "detect and repair" for Office 2003. It took about 15 minutes to configure, then we got an error. The tech told me all he could recommend is to reinstall office. So I did. Same problem happening, and same error when I try to run detect and repair.

I don't know what to do next! Any suggestions? Thanks

Having issues opening any microsoft office files on my computer (.docx, .pptx, .xlsx, etc). I can still create new files without any issues, but as soon as I try to open a downloaded document, I get the following errors:

Once I click OK:

I've tried uninstalling office with Revo Uninstaller to remove all remnants such as registry data and leftover folders, with no luck.

Note that if I open the document(s) with an alternate means (such as wordpad for .docx files, or even google spreadsheets for excel files) they work fine, so I doubt the files are corrupting when I download them.

Any ideas?

I have a Windows issue (happening on Win XP, Vista and 7), that when I try saving a document, normally the Save dialogue box appears and "Save as type: " would normally show the file extension. Instead, now it's only listing "All Files (*.*)" and adding the file extenison to the "File name: " box just above.
I have also checked / unchecked the "Hide extensions for known file types" in the "Folder Options", both settings not changing anything to the Save box.
Had anyone come across this issue, and how can I once again have the File extentions in the 'drop down' list instead of just "All Files"?
Thank you for any help.
John

Answer:Microsoft Office 2003 "Save as" dialogue box issue

Hello John, and welcome to Seven Forums.

The "Save as" available file extension options will vary per program. By default, there should be a drop down menu available where the "All Files (*.*)" is to select from what is available for it though. Since there isn't, you might consider a repair install.

Hope this helps,
Shawn

Hey guys!

I'm getting this error when I try to upload my resume on to a website and so I'm unable to do any uploading:

"you cannot close microsoft office word because a dialog box is open office 2007"

I've had this error before and last time I deleted a windows update (can't remember what) but I'm afraid that it might have came back (blame it on the wife ). Anyways this error is linked to Norton which I don't use (using Avast).

using windows 7 (x64), office 2007, reproduces on all browsers. No processes that deal with office is running.

If anyone has any ideas as to how to get rid of this it would be lots of help. THanks.

Has anyone ever had the problem when opening a Microsoft Office word 2007 file on the desktop or elsewhere and then receive the message: "Windows cannot find C: (doc)Make sure you typed the name correctly and try again." I am desperately hoping that someone can help me with a problem I've got.

I have a range of values (daily financial figures) that are all made from formulas and external sources (other spreadsheets in the same document). None of these values have been directly entered, and the formulas behind them are quite complex. These values (one in each cell) are all read by a graph - however, for days in the future, the graph violently plummets as it's reading the cell values as "$0.00".

Can someone tell me how I can prevent the graph from showing the "$0.00" values? Is there a way to get it to ignore the cells with that value?

I found the solution that worked for me -- restoring OPA11.BAK -- on this forum a few days ago, and the Office programs work fine again without re-installing Office, creating a new user profile, etc. (which worked for others with the same symptom but different underlying problems). The remaining annoyance is that, when I let a "clean-up" utility delete OPA11.BAK, that also disappeared the Start Menu icons for the Office programs and the Office Resource Kit programs. Unlike most programs, these MS programs don't let me manually assign Start Menu icons. The link appears to be broken. Multiple attempts during O365PP installations probably did it so I am considering it to be an Office problem (for which I paid money).
I tried going through Office 365 support and was kindly shown the "out of our scope" door and sent to general support ROBOT...
I am OKAY for now and Outlook 2016 does work. But I had a close call with accidentally selecting an obsolete profile and OUTLOOK would not start-up.
From what I have researched, using this applet seem the way to handle these issues.
"Free" Microsoft Support seems to have almost nothing on this issue and what people have been told on-line to try does not appear to work for any of them.
Left open, dangling. Some of this from 2015!
It seems to me to be a registry problem. Maybe there is a Fix It or Troubleshooter out there that can solve it.
I found an app called WinMail.exe but it immediately WERs on me so I assume that is not the correct link from Control Panel either.
Yeah, I can live with for now and who knows for how long. But someday my profile will go bad and then what????
I apologize in advance if this is the wrong forum for posting but it seems Office does not want to own this one.
Suggestions / corrections gratefully accepted.
Thanks,

Has any other business gotten this? We got a letter from Microsoft corperation that their Office 2003 suite contained 3rd party code and they require for us to stay licensed and compliant that all installs have to be upgraded to SP 2 and then to SP 3 when it gets released...

It does not go into specifics but is on Microsoft company paper and is addressed from them so I am not thinking this to be some kind of HOAX... but I can't find anything mentioned online about it at all on the internet.

Has anyone else seen this does anyone have a link to the story as to who the third party and why they are sending out this letter and what was infringed upon enough to require a mailing to customers? (PS I only spent about 5 mins looking for it under search terms like Office 2003 service pack 3rd party code.)

I am using a Pressario M2000 for my notebook right now. I have a copy of Microsoft Office 2003 currently installed. However, for the past year, I have experienced a lag issue with simple copy and paste functions.

For example. In Word if I try to copy a sentence it will lag for about 10 seconds (load with the hour glass). When I try to paste that sentence it does the same thing. The same holds true for Excel. But if I open Word and copy and pasted something, then open excel, the problem doesn't occur in excel.

I've done numerous malware scans with no luck. What do you guys think? Any good Malware software (doesn't have to be free).

Answer:Microsoft Office "Copy and Paste" LAGGING

Hey Guys, I have a question.
Microsoft Office is meant to be in the Metro Style.
However I have downloaded the preview and installed it and the results are shocking. Whenever I open any of the Office applications the desktop mode comes on and Office starts. I thought it should work in fullscreen (like Internet Explorer).
Is this a glitch or is it meant to be this way?

Answer:Microsoft Office 2013 not in "Windows 8 UI Style"

Hello, donoskaro. Welcome to EightForums.

Office has a Modern (Metro) look to it, but remains a Win32/64 desktop application, not Modern.

hi new here, hope i'm posting in right section.

i got a crucial m4 SSD for my laptop, copied the old one using mini tool partition wizard - and now my 'microsoft office' is demanding a product key that i don't have any more. office works great on my old drive.

any clues for me? thanks.

ps my tech knowledge is near zero

Answer:cloned old drive to SSD, now microsoft office says "not activated"

Cloning a HDD to an SSD is a huge mistake - Win7 will not recognize the SSD as a "zero latency" device and will not use the TRIM function which is required to get optimum usage/performance from the SSD. Furthermore, your installation is probably not aligned properly on the SSD's segment boundaries, and this cause even more performance degradation.

What you need to do is do a clean install of Win7 on the SSD and then reinstall all your software. There is no way to get around doing this because the Windows installer senses the kind of drive it is installing on and then configures Windows appropriately.

If I install the the "3 PCs" office license on all 3 PCs, and I want to get rid of 1 PC, can I move the office from there to a new PC? If yes how do I do that? Sorry, I just never had that type of license.

Answer:Question about Microsoft Office "Retail Box 3 PCs"

Hello Mibaup,

Yes, you can do that if you like. You could do this by just uninstalling Office from the on PC, then install and activate it on the other. Office just can't be activated on more than 3 PCs at the same time.

I have removed the Windows 10 "Libraries" from the navigation pane in Windows Explorer and other Microsoft programs (eg. Notepad), but despite an exhaustive internet search I have been unable to discover how to remove Libraries from navigation panes in the "Open" and "Save as" dialogs in Office 2010 programs. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

I am hoping that someone can help me with what may be a complex question.

I have a spreadsheet, similar to the demonstration file I have attached. In it, there are a range of columns. One set of columns (A - D), shows a list of numbers that are references to items in a store, and it also shows their location in the store, so it acts as a floor-plan. The next column (E) lists those items again to show the dollar amount that those items have produced in total sales (F).

So, what I'd like to do is to add a conditional formatting to show me the "cold" and "hot" spots on the floor-plan so I can see where sales are most concentrated. I would assume that this would be done with a colour scale (using the range of values in column F to work itself out)?

Either way, the figures in column F would change weekly, so the relevant cells in columns A - D would need to automatically change when they're matching cells in column E - F change.

I hope this makes sense, as it's difficult to explain, but any help that someone could provide would be greatly appreciated.

I have someone who works from home to connect to an office computer to access a database. Now, she wants to print out of her printer from home from the program she is using. She connects via VNC on a dial-up. Now the only thing I had in mind was to some how network her printer to be available to an outside source from home and add it as a shared printer on the office computer. Is this possible with a dial-ip and also not being on the same network? I wonder if I could do it through HTTP or something similiar?

Answer:Using VNC and want to print to "home" printer from "office" computer

That is one of the limitations of VNC. You can't print to a local printer.

Any thoughts as to how to change this?

Howdy All,

I was running Defrag last night, and lost power about 82% through it. I rebooted the system this morning, and everything seemed to be working fine, until I opened Outlook, and tried to Send/Receive Mail. Before it even attempted to access any of the servers, I received "Internet Mail is not registered properly. Please reinstall and try again. Error number: 0x80040154". I searched MS Support and came up with the standard fix to make sure correct version of Inetcomm.dll was there . . .it is. I also tried to make sure that outlmime.dll was registered properly, followed the instructions, and it is. None of this resolved the error, and MS offer no other solutions. I uninstalled entire Office Pro package, as there is no single listing to uninstall Outlook 2000, and reinstalled after reboot, but problem still occurs.

I can connect to the Internet no problem, it is just sending and receiving e-mails that will not work. Does anyone have any further ideas on what I can do, besides throwing my system out the window?

I have an AMD Athlone 650, 128 MB Ram, and running Win 98SE and IE 5.00.3105.0106IC.
Any assistance would be most appreciated, so thanx in advance.

I'm trying to get my laptop to be able to share the music on it with my Xbox 360, I'm currently trying to disable "Password protected sharing". To do this I go to Network and Sharing Center then go down to "Password protected sharing" click the bubble next to "Turn off password protected sharing" and then hit the Apply button. When I hit the Apply button it pops up and says "Interface not registered"

And the normal way to share music and stuff is to go through the Media Center and add an Extender, but whenever I try to add the extender it's like it can't find it on the network, even though when I go to other computers and devices on the network through the network and sharing center I can see the Xbox 360 right there. I've tried opening every port that it uses, UPnP Framework ports, let it through my firewall, my router's firewall, port forwarding, I've done it all, I've even gone and turned my firewalls off and then it just started giving me an error until I turned it back on (the error not mentioning anything about my firewall)

I'm running Vista Home Premium.

Answer:"Interface not registered" Vista Home Premium (Xbox 360 Sharing)

I am having the exact same problem.

Im running Vista Home Premium on my desktop and laptop.

My laptop appears to work fine seing my x360 and using Windows Media Player 11 i can stream video/music fine to it

My desktop however is a whole other story. I have the SAME problem this gentleman has. I also cannot see anything but my desktop and laptop icon in the Network window (gotten to by clicking my router icon in the Netowrk and Shawing Center window) I cannot see the xbox, i cannot see the router. I can see all of these things in the same window on my laptop.

ALSO, in the Network and Sharing Center window, when i click the words "view full map" i get a new window "Netowkr Map" but inside it only says "Windows cannot start mapping on the adapter. Please make sure the adapter is connected and enabled.", whereas on the laptop i can see the whole netwrork mapped out, my two computers, the xbox, the router, the internet icon, etc.

I have "update driver" on my LAN card, and it sais i currently up to date, ive tried restarting the "local area connection" all to no avail.

However for a QUICK fix to your problem sir, just add a password to your user account. Kinda irritating i know but.

But please, if anyone has info, please help. Ive browsed Google, Microsoft supprt, multiple forums. Cant find anything. Well i take that back. I find alot of similar problems (none exact tho), but all have no real answers.

Hi,

"An unexpected error is keeping you from applying properties to the file. If you continue to receive this error, you can use the error code to search for help with this problem.
Error 0x80040154: Class not registered"
This error does not occur when trying to edit any other audio files metadata.
It seems to be associated with using the program dBpoweramp.
The metadata appears under the dBpoweramp option and is editable there but the metadata has stopped appearing under Windows "Details" option and cannot be edited under "Details".
What might the problem be here and how would I fix this? Thanks.

I am trying to install  my software setup, but an error msg appears that you do not have MSINET.OCX. I have windows 8 what should I do because I can not run without this missing file. regards.
jamal

Answer:"Component 'MSINET.OCX' or one of its dependencies not correctly registered: a file is missing or invalid"

For whatever it is you are installing, the software may have a pre-requisite that needs to be installed. This particular file may already be in your OS... Which Windows 8 is it? 32bit or 64bit?
If you search for this file on your PC, it may need to be registered first.
According to my research, running a VB6 application is still supported in Windows 8.

I installed Win10 on an old backup PC when I started Beta testing it months ago.

During this time, it always showed "Evaluation Preview" on the lower right, but with the first "official" release, that text disappeared.

This morning, "Windows Update" prompted me to install the next big release: 10532.

Two & Half hours later, the update was complete, but the "Evaluation Preview" message has returned.

Checking my System Information, it shows Windows as "Activated", so why does it say "Evaluation Preview"?

(Also annoying, with the update, my trackpad sensitivity went to hell, with the pointer jumping halfway across the screen every time I life my finger. Argh!)

Answer:Just installed v10532. Registered, but says "Evaluation Preview".

This is because build 10532 is an Evaluation Preview, doesn't matter if it's activated or not, you still will see that message in the lower right corner of your screen.

You probably still had the Insider Preview option active in Windows Update. That's why you received it.

Hi there,After several tests I have decided this isn't a hardware problem...so here we goonly during specific games, (especially ESF and Dungeon Runners, in both OpenGL and D3D) my keyboard and mouse have a odd tendency to "lock" for a few seconds or more...rendering me dead or about to die However...games like GTA:SA and Full Specrum Warrior work flawlessly even though they obviously put alot more stress on components.it always happens when moving my character, for instance I will be swooping forward with Goku in ESF 1.3 and all of a sudden my mouse stops letting me move the cursor and i continue to move forward even if i let go of the buttons on the keyboard, or in dungeon runners, moving the camera with the a and d keys, if i do not tap them, but hold it down for a second(and release it) it will continue for a random amount of time.it isn't a Lag issue because everything else around me moves fine, and my FPS count is always above 30, and it never happens when word processing, i can hold the key as long as I like but it will only repeat until i let it go.I have tried another keyboard (it only happens when moving with the keyboard, not the mouse)the weird thing is, while this is occurring i cant move my mouse at all, its just locked where it was, until the keyboard keeps "repeating" my keypress Any ideas are appreciated!! Answer:Keyboard Keys "stuck" (being registered as still being held down)

I have found with some games when too many keys are pressed at the same time, one of them (usually the first one pressed in the combo) locks. I don't get it with all games, but I have experienced this with World of Warcraft and Battlefield II. I've never had a problem with the Halo games, Tron 2.0, Star Wars: Battlefront II, or Quake 4, all of which require just a much multi-key pressing as the others. The only way I know of to fix this is to press that key again so it registers as pressed and released.I don't know if this is the exact problem you're having, and I don't have any of those games you mentioned, but it sounds similar. But I think it's just limited to certain games, something to do with how they use the keyboard.

Yesterday afternoon, I found a stand full of copies of Office 2003 Standard Edition labeled as "Military Appreciation Edition" at the Ft. Gordon (GA) PX. (For those that don't know, the PX -- or BX on Air Force Bases -- is the military equivalent to Wal-Mart: a store that sells just about everything.) The price for this "Military Appreciation Edition" was $59.95 -- and since I bought it on post, tax-free. Thinking that this was too good to be true, I tried asking a sales clerk if the Office MAE was a standalone or update version -- I confused her so much that I had to show her the MAE box and a box of the Std. Upgrade version to help her understand my question better. (There was another custormer, a self-proclaimed "computer expert," who was so confused with my question that he thought I asked if I could use the Office MAE to update Windows XP....)

Long story short: Has anyone here heard of a "Military Appreciation Edition" of Microsoft Office? And is it a full version of the Standard Edition software or an upgrade?

I tried going online and searching for information about the MAE (specifically, as compared to just Office in general), but my search results came back empty. I also tried Microsoft's website but it didn't mention anything about the MAE. My search at AAFES, the military's online store for the PX/BX, came up empty as well. And nobody that I know knew anything about a "Military Appreciation Edition.&... Read more

Answer:Microsoft Office Standard Edition 2003 "Military Appreciation Edition" (what the...?)

While I have not heard of an "MAE" edition, I would surmise it is possible the only real "change" is the packaging and the price.

But if your really concerned if it is a valid copy, then you can call MS software piracy line at 1-800-RULEGIT and ask them.

I am running Windows XP SP3, fully updated, on an Acer lap top PC.

I have several folders full of .mp3's and want to see the bit rate and duration. To do this I right click on a column heading and select "Bit rate". I then click on "More..." so I can get to "Duration", and I select that one too.

The two new columns appear, but the format of the "Duration" column appears to be "hours:minutes", so I see "00:04" or "00:03" for most .mp3's, when what I want to see is 'hours:minutes:seconds", e.g. "00:03:45".

This also happens for video files (.avi files), e.g. all my episodes of "Heroes" (sad, I know) have a duration of "00:42" instead of "00:42:xx".

Here are two pictures showing the problem with the .mp3's. The first is of Explorer showing the Duration as "Hours:Minutes":

The second picture is of the properties window of the first .mp3 in the list above:

I copied some .mp3 files to another (old) PC on my home network, and it displayed the duration field correctly:

Also, the properties window correctly shows the duration also:

I'm not the only person to have this problem. I received a private message from a member of another forum where I posted about this problem several weeks ago. That person also has the same problem with the duration field.

The tech guys on that forum were unable to find the source... Read more

Lately, when I go to send a message after composing it IN oUTLOOK 2003 I get a message that says Interface not Registered. Also, when I go to reply to someone's e-mail I get another error message saying that there is a problem with my current editor (word 2003) It also mentions something about OLE registration. I attempted to fix the problem by "detect and repair" but that did not fix the problem. I am able to use Outlook's editor, but I prefer Word 2003 over outlook. If anyone can help me resolve this problem it would be appreciated
When I try to open a new message or edit a message using word 2003 in outlook 2003 I get the following message: "Microsoft Word is set to be your e-mail editor. However, Word is unavailable, not installed, or is not the same version as Outlook. The Outlook e-mail editor will be used instead. An OLE registration error occurred. The program is not correctly installed. Run setup again for the program." I have uninstalled Microsoft Outlook and Outlook express and reinstalled both, but I still get this error. I would appreciate any information on how to resolve this problem.
I have a customer who is running Office 2003 and when he tries to open and read his email he receives a message saying, An OLE registration error occurred. The odd thing is, it doesn't happen on every email, just some. Anyone seening this before?

It also says "it will not be possible to link other documents to this document." This what happens when trying to open a Word document. After these warnings Word opens without any problems and I don't see anything different, and the program works fine.
When trying to open an Excel file I get
"Windows Installer", "Preparing to Install"
This is followed by an error saying
"the Installer service could not be accessed. This can occur if you are running windows in Safe Mode or if the Installer service is not correctly installed. Contact your support person for help...."

I have recently done some changes to my services following an online guide but not sure who to either correct what I have changed or fix this current issue. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

After installing Internet Explorer 10 a lot of users are reporting General failure. The URL was: "URL" Class not registered
problem. I have tried all the solutions from the internet and nothing helps so far. When I reset the internet explorer settings, links start working in Outlook but when the computer is restarted and GPO applied the problem comes back... I need to pin
point what's causing it, which policy setting if it is really related to GPO? any feedback greatly appreciated

Answer:General failure. The URL was: "URL" Class not registered

Hi ?

I would like to suggest you try the following:
1. Go to Start > All  Programs > Accessories > Run > and type in regsvr32 ExplorerFrame.dll and then click OK.  See if that works.

2. If that doesn't work, go to Tools / internet Options / Advanced and check the box to disable script debugging in Internet Explorer and see if that helps.

3. Set  IE to be the default browser in the Control Panel, Default programs applet, Set Program Access and Defaults. Change the default browser to IE.

(You can also reach this dialog through IE?s Tools, Internet options menu, or Control Panel, Internet options. Look on the Programs tab for the Set Programs button.)

4. You may also remove the other web browsers if you have.

Hello.

I have all updates applied to the Windows 10 Professional x64 bit machine. Started Windows 10 this morning and tried to open a JPEG file, i.e., double click any.jpg. Windows 10 comes back with, "Class not registered".

Cleaned all the files, registry and nothing changes this. Restarted and checked all in safe mode as well. Went to assign defaults to Windows Photo Viewer and found that it had 2 of its defaults. Clicked make this default. Nothing. Assigned all defaults to the Windows Photo Viewer, hit save. NOTHING SAVED!

This has nothing to do with Edge or Internet Explorer.

Any thoughts or suggestions please!

Answer:trying to open a JPEG. Get "Class not registered" How do I fix this

Hi, you could try the ideas here - not the command line to reregister dlls.

Sledgehammer approach:
an in-place upgrade repair install (instructions in Tutorial section).
Keeps all, may find the odd association reset to MS default, need to reenter Wifi key, system restore points lost and s. restore turned off.

Very useful repair technique.

Needs boot medium of the same major build as your Win 10.

We used to have "stereo mix" option that enabled streaming audio recording without having to have the audio playing through the speakers. How do I do that now? What replaces that capability? Who makes my sound card? Why is that not readily available somewhere in Dell land? I can't believe forum searching found pretty much nothing on this.

Answer:Latitude E6530 Windows 10 no "stereo mix" option for sound input device, only "high definition audio device" with Microsoft driver and unknown manufacturer.

aj_chicagoWho makes my sound card?
Hello. The audio chip manufacturer was IDT.
aj_chicagoWhat replaces that capability?
IDT doesn't have "stereo mix", so I'm not sure how you used to have it on the E6530. IDT has an equivalent capability that it calls Rec.Playback. That can be found in the list of recording devices, after the IDT driver is installed.
aj_chicagoHow do I do that now?
Dell doesn't support audio on an E6530 that has had Win10 installed. The IDT company went out of the consumer audio business long before there was a Win10 OS, so there is no Win10 IDT driver for that model. Your computer is currently using the Windows native audio driver, which, as you say, does not support a stereo mix kind of feature.
You should be able to install the IDT driver for Win7 by installing with compatibility mode.
1. Download and save the audio driver to your desktop or any convenient location on the hard drive.  [There are two "formats" on the driver's page. Scroll down to the 2nd one, named "Hard Drive" format, and download that one, not the 1st one named "Windows Update Package".]2. Double click on the new folder to extract (unzip) the driver files.3. The extractor wizard will create a new folder for the driver files. It will be at "c:\dell\drivers\xxxxxx". Write down the exact location that the wizard creates. 4. If the driver begins to install automatically, halt (cancel) the installation.5. Browse to the dri... Read more

One of our computers is getting the following error when sending emails
"Interface not registered". We are using XP Home and Outlook 2003. We have uninstalled and reinstalled Outlook numerous times and nothing helps.

We googled the problem, but came back with all kinds of answers and can't seem to figure out which one to use. One of them said to "run" the ole32.dll file, but we don't know how to do that. We found the file but don't know how to run it.

I would appreciate any help, this is driving us nuts.

Hey there,

New to the forums but I did search through to see if there was a solution to my problem. Well, problems.

Computer: Dell Dimension 4700, Win XP, SP2, Office 2003 Issue:Word/Dcom

For starters that is the error message I receive when opening an old document in a clients office 2003 word program. Each time "this document could not be registered."

I know the fix for this is starting up dcom, and if that doesn't work then RPC. However, RPC is running fine but here is the kicker.

There is NO DCOM for me to start up in services.msc

Help. The DCOM service is not even listed in services, and I can't find it in msconfig either.

Thanks in advance, hopefully we can resolve this. Thanks again.

Chad

I remember having made some changes in Windows/system32 andsysWOW64 where I changed the file extension of the file"ExplorerFramae.dll to BAK" in both the folders and also copied theold file "ExplorerFrame.dll" as before,in bothe folders which was doefollowing instructions on net which became necessary as I could start Starttab,Search option tab,Microsoft Edge and almost all the links to other programson task bar including internet and for most of these when clicked to open theerror www popped up showing Explorer.exe in the upper line and" class notregistered." in the middle part. So,nutshell because of these issues I hadto look for a solution which after trying a few I got attracted by changing offile extensions (as stated above) from dll to BAK but also replacing dll fileextension in both the holders.
After doing this change the PC is not booting/ going further then log in frame but when log in it just go to a black screen with result that I can boot/login.
Shall appreciate any help to fix this situation

I want to delete the company name in the SYSTEM PROPERTIES > REGISTERED TO field.
I figure there must be a registry key that holds the info?
Can I just delete the key and re-enter my name?

The name itself is right, but some ninny who worked on my computer must've entered my old company name. It's annoying.

I am trying to use a program called AVSVIDEOREMAKER, and when I try to start it I get the above error message. From what I have read it has something to do with a dll file. How I determine which file is causing the problem?
How can I correct this?

Answer:error "class not registered"

What is the exact error message you are receiving. Is the application compatible with your OS? Such an error usually means an incompatible OS (or lacking a necessary service pack or update), a missing DLL, or one with the wrong version (usually too old). If the error message doesn't identify the problem you may need to contact the software supplier. They will know the software better than anyone else.

Will I run into any problem if I change the Registered Owner (and Registered Company) for my system? (to fix a typo!)

The method is described here:

I did see that some Registry installer sections for non-MS products have picked up the current Registered Owner, so will contact those companies separately.

Answer:Q: Ok to change "Registered owner"?

Nothing will happen, expect that you own all the files and can edit them now.

Hello

I have a Dell laptop with 120 GB hard drive, partitioned in 20GB and 100GB. Foolish, I now realise. I need to expand that small partition, or maybe merge them into one.

I have downloaded Partition Logic 0.69 and created the CD. When I boot up my Dell laptop from the CD, the Visopsys loads, but it tells me that there is no hard disk registered. Then I have to quit.

The laptop boots fine from the HDD, which is Vista SP1.

What am I doing wrong?

Thanks.

Hi,

In the Windows 95, 98, ME Forum they explain how to change the "registered" window name: "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion
Then in the Right pane you should see "Registered Owner". Right click on it and select Modify and change it to what you'd like."

However, this doesn't work for me because there is no "Registered Owner" in the right pane of CurrentVersion. I use Windows XP. Any suggestions?

Whenever I try to open file folder in Vista, I get an error popup that says "Class not registered" with no other details.

I'm using a three year old Toshiba Satellite Laptop.

I can open programs, use google chrome, firefox, but can't open file folders, recycle bin, windows update, the start menu or my computer.

I have run a few registry fixers, attempted a restore point fix with Advanced SystemCare, all to no avail.

Also, Microsoft office seems to be re-installing every time I open it.

The problem indicates that the troublesome areas are not associated with the registry.
If the problem just began use a system restore to return to normal.
If that does not work, a repair install may do the trick.

My office just upgraded, and I can no longer use Windows XP. On this system, I was able to add a separate taskbar to facilitate quick access to commonly-browsed folder locations on our vast network, and another one expedited the launching of useful programs and lists. Each task on each taskbar was represented with a big custom icon to save eye strain. I had them installed in opposite vertical margins, and they were set on auto-hide to keep them out of the way when not being used. Just move your mouse pointer to the left or right margin, and BAM! Sorry for the cliche, but I really got used to the convenience of what I had set up, and I just don't think I can be as efficient without anything comparable.

Now there appears to be nothing comparable in the Windows 7 GUI, and it's making me sick with rage! I see only the option to put a "toolbar" on an existing "taskbar", and no option to create any additional taskbars! This cramps up your one-and-only taskbar, plus the tiny toolbar access buttons require way too much precision for anything that's supposed to be quick. When you've figured out how to bring up that ridiculous button, the list that it yields is small enough to cause painful eyestrain - nothing efficient, much less cool about this at all! I have seen customization options in other OS GUIs that may have resolved some of these issues, but I see none such in W7.

I have tried every google search string that I can think of, and found... Read more
