I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I have a customer complaint database. I need to be able to have the employees fill out a form and then click a button and send only the form as a PDF attachment to a administrator so the admin can call the customer and get the issue resolved.

When i try to create the Macro it sends all the complaints in the database. How do i create a button that will send ONLY the one complaint.

I am not very well versed in Querys or VBA, so any help would be appreciated.

Attached is a sample of the database

I successfully did the following on a Compaq Presario laptop:

RegEdit: Classes Root\Directory - right click Shell, New Key - name Send Email, new string value - Send Email. Right click Send Email key, New Key - name Command, new string value - c:\program files\outlook express\msimn.exe/mailurl:

When I right click the Start button and click Send Email, the OE new message box appears. That way you don't have to open OE then click Create Mail. Works fine in the Compaq.

I did the very same thing in a Toshiba laptop XP but when I click Send Email in the Start button context menu, it says C:\Docs and Sets\RAM\Start Menu: Access Denied, yet I'm logged in as RAM and I created the shortcut and the command in registry has nothing to do with my folder in Docs and Sets. If I add a space '.exe /mailurl:' OE splash comes up then a box saying OE may not be installed properly, click OK, then another box saying OE would not open because msoe.dll could not be initialized. Clicking on an OE shortcut brings OE right up so apparently msoe.dll is fine. (I did replace the dll but made no difference.)

I can make OE open by putting quotes around "c:\...........exe", but I cannot get the New Message box to open from the shortcut.

If anyone can help I would surely appreciate it. Now it has become more than just a convenience shortcut - it has become a challenge!

I have created a form in Adobe Acrobat that will allow my friends to lets our group when they could be available for activities each month. The form itself works fine.
My problem is if I send them the form, I would like a simple way for them to fill it out and email it back to me for viewing.
Our group has various levels of computer skills. Does anyone have a simple solution.
1. I have tried to send it directly from Acrobat Reader, but it takes many steps to send it. Some group members have scanners, some don't.
2. I have tried to attach it to an email, but it, again, takes a lot of steps. This group is primarily seniors and we know what that means.
Thanks for any suggestions

Is there some function or method in javascript or VB that enables me to send different emails to different recipients, based on an html form?
For example: I want to send the user a confirmation note based on his details, as well as some sort of copy for myself, with some different design and details in it, and all of that requires the user to click only once on the "submit" button.

Answer:email form - send different letters to different recipients

Look up CDONTS and VB. You can do both send a confirmation as well as receive a copy of the registration. I just set one up and it is quite easy. The formatting of the mail message is very limited but it does the job. There are compiled ASP mail components like ASPmail that do pretty much the same thing as CDONTS

I'm using the below post from OBG to change my hpyerlinked email addresses to text fields, but keep receiving a data mismatch error for the "correct" expression. I'm not sure why Access thinks the "length" expresion isn't a number since it's displayed as a number when I run the query. Can someone help?

Yes, if you change the Hyperlink field to Text you will see what is wrong with the data, you can then use an Update query to remove the "extra" data that you do not want.
You need 2 queries one select query with the email address and
length: InStr([email Address],"#")
correct: Left([email Address],[length]-1)
and then an Update query based on the first query where you update the email address to the [correct] field.
Take a copy of the database or at least the table before running the update query.

Hi Guys

I have client fields that are ? client?s first name, client?s last name, their street address, suburb and city, their landline number and their cell phone number and their email address.
I don't always want to see the email address and would like to have a button that will show or hide the email address.

I need to write a set of instructions that will help solve this

Thanks guys

Been trying everything and cant find a method to solve this, been using access 2010 complete book and internet

Answer:Access 2010 Form Hide/show button help

This is not a difficult one to do. Start by determining whether most of the time you want the field to be visible or not. Suppose you want it to be usually visible. Then let it's Visible property stay at the default value which is True.

Create you rbutton that controls the visibility of the field. Then in its Click event simply set the Visible property to false. Here's a sample of what the code should look like:

If Me.PeopleType.Text = "CASLA" Then
allusl.Visible = False: labelusl.Visible = False: uslbox.Visible = False
Label220.caption = "Display records of type:"
Me.CASLAType.Visible = True: Label220.Visible = True
End If

The above code sets several things invisible and several other things visible. But you should get the idea how to adapt the code for your purposes.

Whoever is going to help needs to know what email client you use?
Click Help->About to find out. There is no Outlook Express 7. OE6
was the last. What OS are you using?

I've not heard of a matte's form? Would help to explain that in
more detail.

Probably need more info on your HTML. Either post the code here
or take a screen shot and post that here. If your HTML has
javascript it could be blocked at the recipient's end.

Hi all, I don't have Office 2013 yet but I am intending to upgrade a computer to Windows 8.1 Office 2013. One of the primary uses of this computer will be email and currently the fastest way to do things is to send email directly from Word. I have looked it up on the net and found a website that says that you can do this with Office 2013:
The only problem is that right at the end it also says:
“Note that there’s no real record of your sent email except as a Word document. If you want to keep a copy of the message for yourself in your email program (Outlook, Thunderbird, etc.), select Bcc from the Options drop-down menu (the same menu where you selected to add the From field) and enter your email address in the Bcc field.”
Unfortunately as these will be important emails I really need to know if they have been sent, without having to just trust the user to remember to save or Bcc it. So my question is: Is there a sure way to have email come up in the sent folder in Outlook when sent from Word 2013? If not I may not get Office 2013.
Thanks in advance for any help.

So weird thing just happened. I got 8 emails in a row which were along the lines of 'mailer-daemon return address' or 'out of office' replies meaning I sent emails, but the thing is I didn't. I then went to my sent email folder and no new sent emails show up except for the ones I did send over 3 days ago. This is a email address. I then got a new email along with those other 8 from my gmx email to my gmx email but it was listed as being sent on april 8 so it was kind of lower on the page due to read emails being ahead of it. I have absolutely no contacts saved on that account so after looking through the bounced back emails I realized it may have sent emails to everyone I sent an email to since creating the account (a year ago). I even got one on my other email address from myself which I had once sent an email to. The email message is just an url that leads to some chinese website --> url here: I apologize in advance if I shouldn't have pasted that url. I use bit defender total internet security 2013 so I don't think I have any malware or spyware. I haven't clicked on any odd links or anything lately so I don't know what would have caused this. I ran malware bytes and super anti spyware to be sure and super anti spyware found a bunch of cookies which it said weren't really threats but it may track some stuff I do so I got rid of it anyway. I don't think that had anything to do with it. J... Read more

In our village in Spain, we have a very dodgy wireless internet access system, run by a company called NijarNet that is very difficult to communicate with - partly a language problem and partly because their customer service is dreadful. I have 13 clients with accounts here (I'm a management agent), and I manage these for them - they are all either wifi or wimax which pick up the signal from various antennae in the area. One such client was having no problem until something called Spamcop blocked his emails. Since then, he is unable to send emails from his 02 account, although he can send from his gmail account with no problem. He can receive on both accounts. O2 says it's not their problem, but that I must talk to the provider (which I have tried to do but they deny it's their problem and can't/won't give any advice on what the problem might be). I reckon it's something fairly simple that I might be able to sort myself, maybe a setting on the router? Can you offer any advice? He's tried it on several different laptops, devices etc with no luck. Any advice would be gratefully received.

Answer:Outlook 2010 - cant send email when overseas

How is your E-Mail provider? If its your internet provider, it's possible that the outgoing server is only used when you are connected to their internet service.

Check with them if they have an additional outgoing (SMTP) server that you can use while you are not on their service.

My ISP is AOL, but for email I use Outlook 2010 to connect to AOL, which has worked fine for years. I'm using XP Pro.
2 days ago I opened Outlook 2010 (no problem opening) as usual to check email, only to find about 3000+ emails (previously received) were downloading into Outlook. I let it run its course then deleted all the emails.
Since then, everytime I open Outlook at the bottom right there is the warning triangle telling me 'send/receive error'. So I've clicked the error tab and it shows there is an error for receiving. Message is alog the lines of "Receiving reported error 0x800CCC90. Your incoming (POP3)email server has reported an internal error....
Does this mean there's a problem at AOL, and if so has anyone else had this problem?
Thanks in advance.
PS This has happened on both my laptop and desktop which have the identical settings and nothing has been changed at all in connection with set-up or account details.

Basically, I have created a very simple Excel spreadsheet as an example, but what I would like to do is the following:

I have several employees (100 +/-) that require training in various fields. Each training certification is good for 1-yr. I am trying to figure a way for Excel to automatically send an email to my Microsoft Outlook whenever that training date is set to expire. I would like to have it email me 30-days before it expires. The problem is that I don't record and notate it by the date the training expires, but rather by the date they were trained. An example would be that I trained someone on 5-3-13 and they will be expiring 30-days from now. I have it entered on the spreadsheet as 5-3-13. How can I make Excel automatically generate an email warning me of the upcoming expiration date? I am admittedly not very proficient in computer language, but I am more than willing to learn.

Hi there,

I'm having trouble with this!

I have a workbook with various sheets in it.

One of these worksheets contains certain cells which need to be sent via Outlook email system to another user.

I would like to create a button on the sheet which when clicked will send only the certain cells to particular users via Outlook.

I need the email addresses in the email to be auto-populated and also a brief note to appear in the main text along with the cells and in the subject line of the email: E.g: "Monthly Data for April"

Can't seem to figure it out so any help greatly received!

Hi there,

We can point you in the right direction, or help you with a solution. If you want us to help you, please provide more details. You would need a 'control' sheet for best results. This would line out a range address to be emailed, email recipient(s), subject, etc. Could you post a sample file? Also, what versions of Office are you using?

Edit: Where are my manners.... welcome to the board!!!

Running Access 2000 under W98SE.

Table with contact info for suppliers, and a form which displays that info, one record at a time. One of the fields is for email address. On the form, would like to be able to click on either the email address itself (text box) or on a button next to it and have my email client open with a new mail addressed to the supplier.

Can set the control up as a hyperlink with a *mailto:* address, so client opens - just not sure what expression to enter to get it to pick up the address from the curent record.

Any suggestions? -- TIA

My Email client, MSN Premium (not Hotmail) will not open to write an email when clicking on any website's button labeled "send us an email". Instead this action causes several instances (up to 5) of IE6 to invoke and then the Op Sys (WinME) hangs until I use Ctrl-Alt-Del to end the erroneously opened IE tasks. I thought maybe it was that MSN mail was not my default email client so I used the proceedure to make MSN mail my default instead of OE6 but each time I returned to the options to see if it had changed it still says my default client is OE. Interestingly, if I envoke the MSN explorer and go to my MSN email inbox I can send and receive my email perfectly. This machine has been up and running since last October. I do not know if the problem has always existed or started more recently since I don't often click on "send us email" buttons.
I have three other machines similarly set up and none of them exhibit this problem.
WinMe, MSN Premium, and MSN messenger 6 all are up to date and current.
McAfee AV is on and up to date.
CounterSpy and Spybot are up to date and actively running.
Firefox 1.0.2 is my default browser

My computer is an HP Pavilion a6345f running Windows Vista Home Edition that I've had since new (4 years ago).

During the past week or so, I've had trouble with my Office Outlook email program in the MS Office 2010 suite. When I open it and click on an email I'd get the 'Not Responding' notation next to the program name in the top part of the window. To correct this, I've used the repair function on the cd and the scanpst file in Program File, Microsoft Office, Office 14. This seems to work for a while but the 'Not Responding' message has still appeared.

Concerned that I might lose my two email data files for Office Outlook, I exported them to a flash drive where I incorporated them into one file named Outlook Data File.pst. After I'd repaired the program, I imported this file and have my data but am now unable to send/receive emails using the program (I can send/receive emails via the Internet but prefer Office Outlook).

Hi all,
I am using outlook 2010, windows 8 on an Asus UX32A latop. I have an intermittent problem in that, when I go abroad, from some wireless networks (hotels or otherwise) I can send emails and others (increasingly more often), I cant. I have searched the web and this seems to be a common problem with port 25  (outgoing server - SMTP)  blocking being frequently identified as the culprit. However, I have tried a number of alternative ports to 25, but thus far to no avail.
If anyone out there has any ideas I would greatly appreciate them!

Answer:Outlook 2010, can receive but not send email abroad - intermittent problem

You would have to check with your email service provider to see if they have alternative mail servers and alternative ports available. If their mail servers are configured to use only port 25, then check to see if you can access your email using a web browser, as ports 80 and 443 are almost never blocked. It's not as convenient as Outlook, but at least it will work.

Recently installed Outlook 2000. Works fine except for one small annoying glitch. All email is sent and received smoothly when I click Tools, Send/Receive and then the name of my Internet Service Provider. Mail flys out of the Outbox and arrives in the Inbox quickly. But, if I attempt to do the same operation by clicking the Send/Receive button on the top toolbar, only that mail which is in the outbox is sent, but mail sitting at my server is not received! If I then try the tools, send/receive method, the mail is received. So,the glitch is the Send/receive button only sends, but can't seem to receive mail, yet I can receive and send via the tools tab. Another strange and possibly related thing is, if when not connected I click the send/receive button and nothing is in the outbox, then it just says successful task. But if there is an email in the outbox when I click the send/receive button, it brings up the dial up connection box and when I am connected sends it smoothly, but again does not receive any mail I may have. When I had Outlook 98, the send/receive button would send, receive and bring up the dial up if necessary.
I can use Outlook 2000 without this button, and work through the tools route but just wondered if anyone had any thoughts on why everything seemingly works well except I can't get the Send/receive button to receive mail.....and if I am not connected this same button won't bring up the dial up connection if there is nothing in the outbox. I've developed a database in Access 2010 and am using the Navigation Form for users to access the different forms and it's working very well. The problem is we still have some workers who are on Windows XP boxes with Office 2007 and the Navigation Form won't work for them. I've been asked to develop an Access 2007 Switchboard which will mimic the Navigation form so there is some continuity between them and so that once all the systems have been upgraded the users willbe familiar with the interface. I easily designed a form with the look or the Navigation Form but haven't been able to figure out how to handle opening the different subforms on the one main form. Is it possible to place an Unbound Frame on the form and with a click of a button open a subform in the Frame or have a button just open a subform? How would that be coded?

Thanks for your assistance

Answer:Solved: Access 2007 Switchboard & Access 2010 Navigation Form

I am a bit confused because Subforms normally open when a mainform opens.
I am not familiar with the Access 2010 navigation form so I am not sure what you are trying to do.

I am wondering how to send an email to a list of people in an Access database. The email should have a message in the body, as well as a Word attachment.

I know how to do this using a mail merge in Word where I can send the email using the Word doc as the email body message or attach this Word doc to the email, and I can select the recipients from an Access db. I want to be able to do both - have a message in the body of the email and attach a Word doc. I don't see an option to do this when doing a mail merge in Word using an access db.

Is there a way I can do this?

I'm trying to sort out my brothers Laptop which was working fine up to Fri 13th June.
He can send and receive email but cannot access the web. It is Windows Vista and Norton 360 - No new programs have been downloaded and no virus's that seem detectable.
A colleague talked me through Pinging a site, which it could do ok, but windows explorer just keeps coming back with web page unavailable but confirms that the wi-fi connection is fine.

Any suggestions please

Answer:Can send & receive email but not access net

problems like this can sometimes be caused by malware, you say you cant find any viruses but just to be sure pop over to the security and the web section and take a read, as email doesnt rely on the HTTP protocol to recieve mail, it could be something along those lines.

I have had the odd case of no web at home yet MSN messenger works fine, i reboot my router and modem all is well, sometimes its the ISP that's at fault, try another PC if you can on the same connection.

Surely the solution to this is simple for someone who knows Access. Have an input form on which I want to put a button that will preview a report FOR THAT RECORD. The report needs the record's ID to know which record to use, and I want it to use the ID on the form. In the query that is the record source for the report, I tried using [Forms]![Signups]![Signups.EventID] as the criteria for EventID, but when you click the button, it PROMPTS you to enter the value instead of using the one in the form. How can I make it use the EventID that's on the form and not make the user have to enter it?

Hello folks. Just a general opinion required at the moment, please. I might need to create something to monitor due delivery dates against actual delivery dates. It's pretty easy to use an Excel wbook and conditional formatting to highlight late deliveries, but what I'd like is an automated email sent to a couple of relevant people as soon as an item becomes late. That also might not sound too hard, but what I think might be a problem, is this. Is there a way for this to happen even if the program is not currently open and running? And would this sort of thing be easier to achive in Access or Excel? (Assuming it is possible at all)Thanks

Answer:Excel or Access to auto send email

If the program is not running, then that's it. The only thing I can suggest is that you run the program automatically using Schduled Tasks.

Hi guys,

I am an intermediate user of Access, i can create basic databases etc.

I am creating a finance database (there's a lot of data) which has different tables (7 to be exact) which have forms for entering the data. I also have created reports and queries to show any unpaid items for each of those tables.

I am now wishing to create a search form so the person whom i'm making it for can search date, the business and weather or not it's been paid to give him more of an overview of the information. However, i seem to be getting a wee bit stuck as for some reason access doesn't like querying multiple tables, or i'm doing it wrong. (i'll go with the latter ... occam's razor and all that)

If i've not explained it correctly, my apologies, feel free to ask any questions. Thanks for your help!

I have a password form with a text box and a command button, on click of the command button it checks that the correct password is entered in the text box, if it is it opens another form, if not a message box pops up informing an incorrect password has been entered.
When the form opens it is maximized.
I want to password form to close when the next form opens, 'DoCmd.Close,Form1,acSaveYes' after 'DoCmd.OpenForm, frmMainEmp' on the On Click event results in nothing happening at all.
'DoCmd.Close,Form1,acSaveYes' and 'DoCmd.Maximize' on the On Open event of the new form results in the password form maximizing and 'frmMainEmp' not opening.
Any idea what I am doing wrong here?

Form1 code

Private Sub Command4_Click()
If Text2 = "admin123" Then
DoCmd.OpenForm "frmMainEmp"
MsgBox ("Password Incorrect")
End If
End Sub

frmMainEmp code

Private Sub Form_Open(Cancel As Integer)
On Error GoTo Form_Open_Err

Exit Sub

MsgBox Error$
Resume Form_Open_Exit

End Sub
note that I have removed my attempts to close Form1 from all coding at this stage.

I'm trying to send an email out of access. Once the user completes the form he/she clicks a button and the email is sent. Now, I have figured out how to send the form as an attachment; however, I would like the form data included in the message body. I assume this requires some SQL or VBA coding that I'm not familiar with, so any help would be sincerely appreciated.

I sent an email to a company using their email form on their site. Is there a way I can retrieve what I wrote in the email to have for my records?

Answer:Retrieving email sent using websites email form.

Hi LIKENIT, welcome to 7F!

Not that I am aware of. The best you can hope for is when the company replies they use your original query quoted in their reply.

If that doesn't happen the only other way would be to ask if they can send it back to you, but some companies do an instant delete after they reply, it helps to keep the clutter manageable.

I have a word document that includes a form the user must fill in. I want to create a button that will do all of the following:
1. Update all fields
2. Attach the updated word document to an email
3. Enter an address I have stored in the macro into the To field of the email.

I have one module which does the first part:
Sub CommandButton1_Click()

For Each oStory In ActiveDocument.StoryRanges
If oStory.StoryType <> wdMainTextStory Then
While Not (oStory.NextStoryRange Is Nothing)
Set oStory = oStory.NextStoryRange
End If
Next oStory
Set oStory = Nothing
End Sub

I found that if I add this to the before End Sub it attaches the updated Word document to an email:
Application.Options.SendMailAttach = True 'Or False

However, I can't figure out how have it put a specific address into the To field of the document.

So I tried another tact. I have the email address as a hyperlink in the document, and set a bookmark at the hyperlink. Then I created a module that will go to the bookmark and open the hyperlink. However, this will not add the document as an attachment:

Sub Open_Hyperlink()
Selection.GoTo What:=wdGoToBookmark, Name:="hyperlink"
With ActiveDocument.Bookmarks
.DefaultSorting = wdSortByName
.ShowHidden = False
End With

Selection.Range.Hyperlinks(1).Follow NewWindow:=False, AddHistory:=True

When I got BellSouth DSL years ago I had Outlook email account set up with BellSouth as outgoing and old domain as incoming so I could keep my email address from another domain. It worked fine until a year or so ago I had to add another account just for BellSouth and that worked fine.

Within last few weeks emails from my email address (old domain) would not send. I've been through it with ATT tech several times to no avail.

It seems that ATT has trapped me out and does not want me to be able to keep my old email.

There's bound to be a way to set up my email accounts so my outgoing email from my other ISP provider will send through BellSouth without changing my very old and reliable email address.

Also, I recently have acquired my own domain name and I fear emails from that email address will suffer the same fate.

I hope this is not too long, but PLEASE HELP if you can.

Answer:Can't send email using different domain in email address BellSouth trapped me out...

If your BellSouth e-mail service is provided by Yahoo, then you probably need to go through a registration and authentication process for each e-mail address you want to send through a non BellSouth/Yahoo mail server. At least that is what I had to go through as an SBC/ATT DSL customer. They claim that they do the blocking to prevent from originating from users within their network.

EDIT: Forgetting my manners. Hi and welcome to TSG.

I've searched Google and come up blank, also the Exchange help guide is of no help. Anything would be greatly appreciated.

Hi, firstly please bear with me as i'm new to this. I'm trying to setup the email on our virtual server through cpanal and using Thunderbird 3 (although i did try it with Outlook 2007 and the same results.)

Using the given Incoming and Outgoing mail server info given ( and the mail server username, I get a failed to find error (using both POP3 and IMAP). If I change that too the SSL settings for Incoming / Outgoing (, it works and autofinds Connection Security as STARTTLS and finds the ports too. With this I can send emails fine, but I am not getting incoming emails, and I don't know enough about it too see what I'm doing incorrect, any help would be great, thanks.

I posted this on yahoo answers first, but the only response I got was "restart your outloook and try later." *facepalm* Glad to have found a place more dedicated to such problems.

I'm not sure if this is the correct forum for this problem. Please let me know if I should post it somewhere else.

I have a problem that has me baffled.

My fianc? has a Dell laptop running XP Home with SP2.

About five days ago she realized that she could not send any emails (she can receive emails but can not send them). Through trial and error we also have determined that she can not connect to any website that requires a user name and password.

About the time this started she had re-upped her subscription to Norton System Works so I figured that had something to do with it (no hardware changes have been made and no other software changes that I know of).

Things I have tried so far:
I tried shutting off Norton's firewall and email scanning - no effect.
I deleted all her temp files, history, cookies, etc - nothing.
I used (RIES?? spelling) to reset her IE7 and to get rid of all the add-ons - nothing.
I uninstalled Norton completely and turned off the XP firewall - no effect.
I have contacted our ISP (Comcast) and I have verified that the Outlook settings are all correct.
I manually added her hotmail login site to the safe site list in IE7 - nada.

We do use a router and her laptop is wireless. I can access all the sites that she can not using my desktop with a hard connection to the Linksys Wireless router.

When I get home tonight I plan on connecting her laptop directly to the modem and by passing the router completely. I also plan on goi... Read more

I'm sure this is an easy fix but I can't seem to find it. I just have a form, that will be a subform of another, that needs to display the results of a query.
The query is simple enough, just displays all fields of records that fall between specified dates. The query works great, but when I attach it to the form as its record source it doesn't display the data. I can see the correct amount of record selectors so I know its understanding the query but its as if all fields are hidden!

I have also tried building a query to the forms record source that was simply Select query.* From query. Oddly I have had this working before but I had to specify every field. What I mean is:

Select title From query
Select type From query
Select date From query ...

And so on for all the fields but this seems foolish, can anyone think of what I may be doing wrong?
Thanks in advance!
Edit, forgot to mention I also tried the foolish solution that I mentioned above and it didn't work so its definitely some issue that I'm not seeing, some property that's probably not appropriately set

I work at a school and we are running a small database with 2 tables, a "Pupil" table with name, class and age etc and this is linked (relationship) to a "Comments" with an id number. You can have multiple comments per pupil.

I want to list the pupils in a class in something like a datasheet layout and if a pupil is clicked I want to then open all his comments in another form for editing, adding etc....

I thought that a datasheet form with a click event on the pupil name would do it but it doesnt seem so.

Many thanks

Answer:Solved: Opening a child form in Access 2010

Datasheet forms are not very friendly.
You would be better off recreating the Form using the Form Wizard and choosing "Tabular" view which can have a form opening Command Button on each record.
However the normal way to view this kind of data is to have the Pupils on a Single view mainform, (with a "find" combo to quickly find pupils), and a Subform to display the Comments for each pupil.

I am trying to make part of my Access form look like Excel (I know but they made me do it). I need the total line on the bottom and I need the ability to scroll far to the right for additional data.

I have used a split form on a tabbed subform. It actually works except for one thing. The subform goes back to form view when I close and reopen. I can right click and select datasheet view and it will be back like I want it but I can't make it stay on datasheet. I don't mind right clicking every time I open it but I could never get all the differerent users I have to understand that.

I have disallowed form view in the properties and made datasheet view the only option but it isn't taking. I'm attaching screenshots. If there is any other way I can make this work I'll try it, but better yet. I want to make it work like I have it. I'm so close to finishing this...

Does anyone know what could be causing this?

Say I have 10 individual Email recipients that I often send the same Email to. I want to be able to bring all the addresses together into one Group, and send the Email addressed to say "Family" or "Social Team" etc.

Is there a way that I can lump all the common recipients together under one title?

Answer:How do I group common Email addresses together to send all the same Email?

Since your question is in the Windows Live section, I am assuming you are using the Windows Live Mail (POP Version). To add a group email do the following:

1. In Windows Live Mail, click the "contacts" button
2. Click "New"
3. Select "Category"
4. Name the Catergory (such as Family or whatever you want to call the group)
5. Check the email addresses of the list that pops up for those you want in the group.

Now, next time you want to send an email with this program, in the "to" field, simply type the name of the category you just created. All contacts you added to the group will now be sent the email you just wrote.

The only email client installed is outlook express, which is set to the comcast/adelphia account. I installed sygate to make sure nothing strange is going on, but this bothers me.

I need to send an email notification(To Outlook Inbox) to specific users that, the excel/Access database has been updated and saved by an user with his name.

This notification should be sent everyday at a specific time.

Can anybody help me out in achieving this using macros or by any means.?

Thanks in advance!!!

Answer:Send email notification from Excel/Access Database to Outlook

Have you looked at the "sendObject" method?

DoCmd.SendObject , , , "YourEMAIL", , , "TEST"

Leave the Object name /format blank and you can send without attachement, you can do with a macro or VBA....this is from Access only, if you need Excel let me know, it is different.

Not clear on how you want to trigger, because essentially the UPDATE, should be the trigger, but you mention same time everyday...that may not be relevant because what ever action does the update maybe able to trigger the send.

I also use this to get around Outlook security...

Ok here it goes please bare with me. I am creating a database using access 2010 to compare prices between my company and similar companies around us. the database is done no problem. Even the information was imported by using an excel spreadsheet little probelm but got it working. now for the big problem. I need to know if there is anyway to create a form that does the following:

first using a dropdown i can select what i want to use to search with.
second to corresponding information goes into a listbox and i can select a single item from there
then once i select an item from the listbox i can see the information on that record from 3 linked tables and can add edit or delete information from that record.

is this able to be done without using vb?

I've got a form in Access 2010 that I'm using to enter new orders, users, etc. Everything works fine until I try to duplicate and/or simply create a new record with the form.

The new record is created, but if it's duplicated from another record, it stores that previous record's primary key instead of adding the next available one in the series. If a new record is simply created within the form, the primary key field is blank.

How can I get the form to add the next value in the primary key series for the table?

Thanks in advance - let me know if you guys need any further information.

Answer:Solved: Access 2010: Auto-Add Primary Key for New Reocrds in Form

You need to set the Key field to a key field Indexed with no duplicates and as an Autonumber field as well.

I have created a reservation form for 2010, I want to put a check box on the form that will link (for lack of a better word)to my masterlist of customers and activate the 2010 checkbox there. Hopefully I can then tell at a glance which customers on the masterlist have visited in 2010. I've got the checkboxes set up in both places. How do I tell the masterlist that I have activated the box in my reservation form?

WHen texting, I want to forward something to an email address, a photo for instance. I tap the + icon in the 'To" area and go into my contacts. When I open a contact I can not access the email address in the contacts information. I used to be able to do this on my Nokia N8.

Answer:How do I send an email from text using a contacts email?

Email and message apps are different and aren't tied together in WP.Only workaround is to save images or copy text and go to email to send it.

Letter me later .com is a place where you can send scheduled emails. I want to know that there isn't acompany employee reading my stuff or taking my email list for their own use. If i input my kids mothers or my children i won't want someone getting the idea that its ok to google her, follower her on Twitter, IG, facebook etc. Same with my kids. Its dangerous and scares me.

How ever if i can do that from my own computer. Host from my pc and send scheduled emails to different emails then i can set up a pseudo auto responder for a little brother task management alike constant contact or aweber.

If that's your email address then block out the first part with X's immediately otherwise you'll get spam email forever. An Edit option is available on here. There have been several issues with Windows 8.1. Check for Windows Updates now (the bulk arrive on the second Tuesday of each month or next day depending on your time zone).Check also with your computer manufacturer to see if there have been any new network drivers offered for Win 8.1. Best update them anyhow.Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanksmessage edited by Derek

I am helping a friend with their computer mess. The husband uses Windows Live as his email client and the wife uses direct Road Runner.

They both use the same computer. When the husband tries to send email to his wife's email acct, she never receives it. Yet he can send emails to me and I am a Road Runner email address. So I know that his Windows Live is set up correctly.

His wife's email is working fine directly through Road Runner as she can send and receive emails.

SO... Seems to me the issue has something to do with using the same computer and he never signs out of Windows Live. (I personally use Outlook as I am a business and am not familiar with Windows Live)

He never gets any kind of Undeliverable mail message or anything.

Can anyone help me here. I'm am do back over to continue cleaning up some other issues with his system. And I'm not sure where to go from here.

Thank you in advance.

I am creating a golf club database as part of my studies, I had a few issues previously which were resolved on here, thanks.

But now I have another drama, I have an update query "Category_Update" which updates information into a table "tblWinners". There are 6 possible entries. M - J, M - A, M - S, F - J, F - A, F - S, where M is male, F is female, J is junior, A is adult and S being senior.

I have a macro which deletes the current entries in the "tblWinners" table and a form which uses text boxes to update the table using the query. Prior to adding the macro, if an entry matching the data I try to input is present (e.g. Gender:M and Category: A already in the table) it will attempt to run the query, but fail because "Gender" and "Category" are primary keys in the "tblWinners" table. But if the data I input does not match an existing entry the query will fail, not even attempting (as in 'You are about to append 0 row(s).' as opposed to 'You are about to append 1 row(s).' and then failing due the the primary key issue.

Previously in my study i read that you need an entry to append to, but with the deletion macro there is nothing to append to and so it fails.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Answer:Solved: Access 2010 Update Query from text box parameters in a form

Normally Append Queries append to empty Tables without any problems.
So it would appear that you are not meeting the criteria that the Table needs to do the append with, does the query run on it's own when you run it manually.

Okay forgive me as I NEVER want to touch databases. My wife only does little things in DB's and god bless her made a wonderful DB for us to keep track of our email accounts.

The problem is 1 button she made actually prints out ALL records to the printer instead of the one showing on the screen. THis is as far as her knowledge gets her.

Now when I look at the button in the form the name is - cmdEmailLogPrintForm

and when I look at the vb I see that it has -

Private Sub cmdEmailLogPrintForm_Click()
On Error GoTo Err_cmdEmailLogPrintForm_Click

Exit Sub

MsgBox Err.Description
Resume Exit_cmdEmailLogPrintForm_Click

End Sub

Now I am fairly good at decyphering things and it seems to me the problem is with DoCmd.PrintOut

Is there any way to get this so it only prints what is currently showing in the form window NOT everything in the DB?

I have already cleaned the few other snafus I have with the DB but this one is not as minor as the others were (the others were just view layouts).

Answer:Solved: Access - Form button prints entire DB not the single record I want.

You are correct the DoCmd.PrintOut is not the correct way to print the current record.
The best method is to either save the form as a report or create a report with the same fields.
The report's data source should be a query that uses the current form record as it's criteria.
It is usual to use the form's current record's key field to "filter" the query.
This means putting in the criteria row of the query

Forms![Form Name]![key Field Name]

where form name and key field name are those used on your form.

Hi All,

Noob first-time poster I'm afraid!

I'm new to Access 2007 (but have used 2003 & 2000 reasonably extensively).

I'm building an App and have created all the necessary tables, as well as creating the relationships in the Database Tools area (which I know are correct - I'm a SQL Server DBA in my day job)!

Anyway, it's an almost text book example of an employers and employees database; one employer having many employees (employerID is the foreign key on the employee table).

I have created an employer form (using the wizard) which is fine, but then when I add a button to open the employee form (selecting 'Open the form and find specific records', matching employerID on the Employer table with EmployerID on the Employee table) it doesnt work. Instead, I get a popup box asking me for the EmployerID! Even if I manually enter the correct employerID when the popup box appears it actually displays all records, so I'm sure that the problem is more fundamental (and therefore, probably my fault)!

I'm hoping that I've just overlooked something REALLY stupid, but would apprecaite any suggestions!

Answer:Access 2007 Form Button Wizard - Form does not open with the correct records

I have seen this kind of problem with Access 2007 VBA code which does not work when it dod in 2000-2003.
It can be a Syntax problem which you may be able to get around, if not you can get around the problem bby using a Criteria in the Query that supplies the Employee Form.
Although I would have thought it would be better design wise to have the Employees as a Subform or Tabbed Subform on your Employer Mainform.
I do not have Access 2007, only 2003 so I can't help with the VBA, but you could post the code anyway.

Did you use a Wizard to create the Employee Form, if so check the Record Source SQL it may be preventing your EmployerID from working.

I have a database which ultimately will have a couple of thousand records. The primary table has 30+ fields. I have lots of queries and connected reports to show various subsets of the data needed from the table. However, there are times when what is needed is all fields for a specific subset. Because the records sought often need to be filtered by several criteria, I've found the "Filter by Form" option to work well. I have a button on the main dashboard marked "Find Record" that automatically opens a search form in the "Filter by Form" mode. This allows me to enter information into as many controls as necessary, and returns exactly the right records after clicking on "Toggle Filters" on the ribbon. The problem is that ultimately I need to make this "Access-free". The goal is to create an application from the database without ribbons. I've created a button to run the filter, and another one to print the results, but when the search form is open in the "Filter by Form" mode, it greys out the buttons. I understand that there is a GotFocus command or something similar. Can anyone help with specifics, both the syntax of the command and where the command needs to be typed? Thanks a bunch...I look forward to your reply.

My OS: Windows XP home edition SP 2, 512 MEG, 80GB.
I can recieve emails but not send them with OE 6.0. I had a local ISP before and I could send Email OK. I have changed to ATT Yahoo ISP. When I made the switch, everything worked OK for awhile. Then they sent a Email stating that I needed to have my settings changed in my "tools > accounts > mail > properties" boxes. I changed them to their specs. and my OE worked for awhile, then it would'nt send email. Now the only way I can send email is with Yahoo, now I still receive mail in both mail boxes.
When I try to send email with OE, I get this error message:
The Server does not support a SSL connection, Account: my email address, Server: ' Protocol: SMTP, Server Response: 250 8BITMIME', Port: 25,
Secure SSL: Yes, Server Error: 250, Error Number: 0x800CCC7D.
I have looked in MS. KB and could not find the same Error message. If I knew what the old settings were, I would change them back and see if it worked, do you think that would help. Would some one please help !

I'm using Vista Home Premium with Comcast as my new Internet provider, having just replaced Time Warner and Road Runner here in Houston. I switched from Windows Mail, which was working fine in Road Runner, to Comcast's Webmail to try it and I didn't like it. So I switched back to Windows Mail. And now I have 2 problems. First, Webmail keeps picking up some of my email, mostly junk mail. The rest goes into Windows Mail. But second and most important, I can't send email via either program. I've followed the instructions on setting up the servers for Windows Mail but an outgoing message just stalls and eventually I get the following error message: The connection to the server has failed.Account:'POP3',Server:smtp.'',Protocol:SMTP,PORT:587,Secure(SSL):No,Socket Error:10060,Error Number:0x800CCC0E.
Help on both problems would be greatly appreciated but mainly on the second as I need to send emails.

...after installing ZoneAlarm and AVAST. I reinstalled them, and still can't send email.

I know my ISP hasn't blocked Port 25, it was working fine up until I installed the programs. I'm sure the information entered in the server addresses are correct.

I'm using Outlook Express 6, Windows XP Home.

Answer:Solved: Can't send email

Make sure you allow Outlook Express to access the internet in ZoneAlarm. Access the ZA control Panel, go to Progams (or Accessibility, can't remember) and you should see a listing of programs that have attempted connection since ZA was installed.

As of about 5 days ago, I lost the ability to send email though I can receive email normally. I run Windows XP/Outlook 2003 with Bellsouth as my ISP (DSL). ZoneAlarm is my security package. After trying several things on my own (checking/reconfiguring accounts in Outlook, disabling security suite, running in Safe Mode, etc), I contacted Bellsouth and we went through the standard fixes for the problem (checked account setup, they ran line tests, reset router, etc.). According to them, everything is fine on their end and nothing is blocking port 25. I got to the point where I just decided to reformat my desktop computer and start with a clean system to ensure that no ZoneAlarm process was somehow still running in the background. After the reformat and setup, I still cannot send email, this time using Outlook Express. In all cases, I am able to send email through Bellsouth's Webmail client. Additionally, I have two laptops on my home network, and all computers are experiencing the same issue.

I get the following error message from OE: The connection to the server has failed. Account: 'Mike Branham', Server: '', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 10060, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E.

I consider myself a pretty competent computer user, and I've researched and tried many of the proposed fixes on this forum and from other sites. At this point, I'm not sure what else to try - I would have thought that the reforma... Read more
