Microsoft Word Has Stopped Working

Question: Microsoft Word Has Stopped Working

I have Office 2010 and my operating system in Windows 7. Whenever I try to open Microsoft Office Word or Excel, I get the following message: "Microsoft Word (or Excel) has stopped working". When I try to open Microsoft Publisher, "Publisher has failed to start correctly last time.....". Any suggestions on how to fix these problems?

Preferred Solution: Microsoft Word Has Stopped Working

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Microsoft Word always worked fine on my computer until a few days ago when I tried to open it and it said something about a missing shortcut, it says:

Mising Shortcut
Windows is searching for WINWORD.EXE. To locate the file yourself, click Browse

and then after a few seconds a box comes up saying:

Problem With Shortcut
The item "WINWORD.EXE" that this shortcut refers to has been changed or moved, so this shortcut will no longer work properly. Do you want to delete this shortcut?

I have no idea what's happened, I don't remember changing or moving any shortcut or whatever it's talking about, it was working fine one day and then the next day it wasn't working at all.
I tried to do a System Restore because I thought that might reset the computer to how it was before Word stopped working, but it said there were no restore points so I couldn't do that.
Can someone please try to help?

Answer:Microsoft Word just stopped working....

What if you run the executable directly?

For Office 2003, the path is:

C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\OFFICE11\winword.exe

See if that works.

My experience of getting a new laptop up and running continues to be beset by problems. Now Microsoft Word stops working on launch. It's Office 2013 running on Windows 7. Any idea how to resolve this issue? Thanks.

Update:

A google search revealed that I should uninstall Abbyy Finereader. I uninstalled and Word seems to be working. What is Abbyy Finereader? Do I need it?

Thanks.

MS Office has a Repair function.  Click Start -> Control Panel -> Programs and Features.  Scroll down to the MS Office 2013 entry and click on it.  Click the Change button.  Then click the Repair radio button and follow the onscreen instructions.

Answer:Microsoft Word has stopped working

Since you've given no info about the installation, I'm going to guess this was a trial version on a new computer? It only works for a specified number of documents and then you must purchase a license key to keep it going.

Answer:Please help me with Microsoft word has stopped working issue

Hello binngokute and welcome to Seven Forums.

I'm a little confused why you reinstalled the operating system to try to repair Microsoft Office. In Office 2003 (the version I have at work) you could click on detect and repair in the help menu. Office would then try to find and repair problems such as missing files and registry settings associated with all installed Microsoft Office programs. Does your version of Office have that option?

Automatically repair Office programs - Excel - Office.com

As far as Windows Explorer stopping you might try to run a System File Checker scan. If any problems are noted run the scan 3 times rebooting in between each scan.

SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker

If the SFC scan doesn't help you might consider a Repair Install.

Repair Install

Please post back to let us know if anything helped or if you're still having problems.

Added Info: If you're using a later version of Office you might want to try Start > Programs > Microsoft Office > Microsoft Office Tools > Microsoft Office Diagnostics to find and repair problems.

“Microsoft word has stopped working”

This happens when:
Word 2007 is closed after working on a 2003 document
Word 2007 is closed after working on 2007 documents along with a 2003
document. Everything works fine until the last document is closed and word is
completely closed. And it does not matter whether it’s an 03 or 07 document.
Word 2007 closes correctly when working with only 2007 documents.

Just after installing software for an Epson scanner to my laptop, MS Office programs such as Word and Excel would stop working whenever I tried to open or create a document.  I found an online forum that said when you install an Epson scanners it may install a program called "ABBY FineReader" as part of the software bundle and this can cause the problem I was experiencing.

I found the program HAD been installed,  I uninstalled it and my Office programs run just fine now.

Hope this proves useful.

Hello, my name is David and I have a unique problem with opening Word Professional Pro 2007 dictionary. I have a Windows 10 OS and use Firefox as my browser.
Several months ago I noted that when I wanted to check a word it took several minutes before the dictionary opened. During this time the Word program froze, nothing worked until the dictionary opened. Several Microsoft major updates later it now takes 8 to 10 minutes before the dictionary opens. Any help in correcting this problem is much appreciated.
Sincerely,
David

Answer:Microsoft Word dictionary stopped working or opens slowly

Restore the dictionary to default and see if that helps.
Open File Explorer, copy paste the following path in the address and hit Enter: C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Spel ling
Here, C drive defines your system drive or where the Windows is installed and <username> is your username.
In the Spelling folder, you will find one or more than one folders. If you have used more than one languages on your system, you will find more than one folders in this Spelling folder.
Choose a folder based on the language you have used previously. In each folder, you can find three different files called default.acl, default.dic, and default.exc.
Cut-paste the default.dic file on your Desktop to store it there temporarily.
Now open Control Panel, and repair Microsoft Office installation.
Restart your computer and see if it has helped you.

Loaded Microsoft Office 2010 Plus on my wife's XP machine with no problems........then attempted to load on my laptop.......all of the Office Suites loaded, XL,Power Point, etc.
When opening Microsoft Word receive “Microsoft Word Has Stopped Working” window that says closing program. I've reloaded a couple of times and used the “Repair” feature also, and attempted to start MS Word in Safe Mode to no avail!
I found online that I could enter “winword.exe /a” in Run box and the Word Program will open and function properly...........this seems to be a “around-the-barn” way of opening the program!!
Has anyone had a similar issue with this?
Any help will be appreciated, Thanks Freenow

Every time I try and save or close a Word, Excel or PPT file I get the message that the program has stopped and then quits.
I've booted in Safe Mode and didn't get the same problem.
I've deleted unused programs (not Avast 2015 software).
I've also uninstalled and reinstalled Microsoft Office and I've removed the Add-ins COM in both Excel and Word.
I'm on a Dell running Windows Vista.
Any ideas on what else to do, to resolve this issue would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Peter

Hi, I'm using Windows 7 64-bit, Office Home and Student 2010.

Over the past week, everytime I open a word document, Word stops working after a while. It becomes 'unresponsive', then a pop-up appears at the system tray stating:

"Internet connection was lost. Check your Internet connection to resume downloading Microsoft Office."

The problem only occurs with Word, not with Excel nor with PowerPoint.

Please can someone help?? Thank you!!

Hello:
The mouse started to stray and stopped working in the middle of doing something, i.e. eBay, typing word and etc. which is very annoying and first of all, I lose all of the work done due to stopping of the mouse.

However, the mouse started working as if nothing wrong, once I restarted by 'force' restart ..... pushing the button in the middle of the PC. Otherwise, the PC is all fine and working OK.

I did apply Malwarebytes to combat the issue, however the issue does not resolve.

Any help on this would be truoly appreciated.

Thanks,

Answer:Mouse stopped working in the middle of working, i.e. eBay, typing word, etc.

Did you try a different mouse? If you still have the same problem with a new mouse, see if there are any drivers for the mouse from it's manufacturers web site.
Also try a Clean Boot, if that works, then add one startup item at a time till the mouse acts weird again, then you know that is the problematic program.

Hi Guys,
When I am working with Word docs, I occasionally get the error message 'Word has stopped [email protected] and then get error message 'Microsoft Office Word is trying to recover your information' which is then followed by 'Word cannot open the file ~WRS(25A9155-508F-4C19-8D8A-A2DFAF672C8C).If the file is stored on your computer there may be a problem with your hardware. If the file is stored on the network there may be a problem with the network connection. If you can copy the file, try saving the file inanother location and opening it there.'
I have searched for this file and cannot locate it....do you think uninstalling Microsoft Office 2007 will rectify the problem ? I have deleted all the word docs I have and the error message still comes up. Once I have closed the box down, Word restarts and comes up with a new blank doc.
Help..........

Hi,

I had the same problem.
I managed to resolve it after doing some google search and forum reading.
The problem was related to the HP printer that I bought and installed recently. The problem was resolved after installing the latest drivers from the HP website. Don't use the drivers provided in the CD. For more detailed information and if this solution does not work, see my blog.

Good Morning,
This problem just started out of the blue. I don't remember doing anything new, but then I can't swear to it.
Operating System: Vista Home Premium
Office Home and Student 2007

I can work in Office, but when I exit I get the follow message.
"Microsoft Office Word has stopped working. A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is found."
I repaired Office, then made sure I had the latest updates, but still had the same problem.
I searched on the error message and found this post

1. Open up Regedit. (Go to Start and type "regedit" in the search field and press enter.)

2. In Regedit navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\12.0\Word\Data

3. Right mouse click on the "Data" folder and delete it.

4. Open up Word, close it, and voila, problem solved.

I followed the steps above, but it didn't solve my problem. On another site I read that having the default printer set to the Microsoft XPS Printer caused this problem. Strange? But I thought what the heck give it a try. I found out the only time I have this problem when my default printer is set to either of my HP printer. I have the latest drivers and suggustions?
Thanks
Nancy

Hello. An hour ago, I was writing a paper for college, I wanted to add a header to the document, but when I opened the dropdown slide, Word froze. I waited for 5 minutes before finally giving up, and quitting the program.

Now I can't open the program again.. It simply just pops the small box op in the middle of the screen (which it always does when starting) and then freezes.

I've been trying to restart the computer, and to use windows repair function to make it work, none of it helped.

At the moment I'm uninstalling and reinstalling, but if it still doesn't work, I would be grateful if you guys could help me out

I'm running Windows Vista (64-bit) and the version of Word is 2007 Enterprise Office pack.

Thanks in advance

I am using MS Office 2007. When I save a document to the laptop hard drive, I don't have a problem. If I try to save it to a USB drive using a Save As, I get the error message, "Microsoft Office Word has stopped working". Then the program shuts down. I have tried using the diagnostics that is packaged with Office but it comes back without any errors. I am up to date with Office updates. Other laptops running the same program don't have any issues. Are there any recommendations for me to try?

Answer:MS Office Word has stopped working - USB drive

Is the USB drive under a different format?  Simply put, does the OS look for NTFS and find EX4 or something of that nature?  Remember, MAC, Linux, and Windows all use different formats. In fact Linux uses more than one in itself.

When I click a hyperlink on any Word (2002) document, I get the following error:
"This operation has been cancelled due to restrictions in effect on this computer."

It happens only on Word documents, not excel, power point, Internet Explorer, Live Mail, etc
The hyperlinks themselves are valid and have worked for years. Suddenly, nothing. I can access the documents on my desktop from my laptop via the HomeGroup and they work from there.

(insert a thought) It just occurred to me .. this has been happening ever since I upgraded to Internet Explorer v. 10. That's the only real change in the system for weeks now, except I changed my virus checker from AVG to Avast. (end insert)

I've checked forums and everyone seems to think it has something to do with Outlook - but I do not use Outlook. Others believe that Chrome was loaded and later uninstalled, but I've kept away from Chrome altogether.

I would prefer to NOT mess with register keys if possible. Please fix for me.

Answer:Hyperlinks in Word Docs Stopped Working

Welcome to Seven Forums dennis brennan. Word 202 is not fully supported by Windows 7, and so most fixes will be geared towards XP. That said, and, yes, this is specifically for Outlook, try the Fixit for Windows 7 on this link. Even if it does not fix your problem, it will do no harm.

Hyperlinks are not working in Outlook

If no fix, what happens when you press Ctrl and click on the hyperlink?

Windows XP + Office 2003. In Word, the Find and Replace function just stopped functioning. It goes through the motions, but reports "Word has finished searching the document. The search item was not found." --no matter what the search item was, and even if it occurs a gazillion times in the doc.

Below the window where you enter the search item, it says: "Format: Right." I have no clue what this means (opposite of Format: Left? of Format: Wrong?) or how to change it if it should be changed.

I thought the problem might be a disabled service, but I can't find any candidates in the list of services.

So I need help.

All of a sudden my spell check has stopped working. I am using Office 2007. I showed to the technical staff members of my university but none of them could figure out as to what could be the reason.

In fact, three times, we deleted (uninstalled) the Office 2007 from the laptop and then installed but it did not solve the problem.

Some one suggested that I have to reload operating system-XP again. I was wondering if there could be another way to solve this problem without re-installing XP.

Hi buddy,

As far as I know Office 2010 isn?t on the market as yet and it?s only a beta version available.

You should choose a official released version of Office like Office 2007 or 2003. Both versions working pretty well and the most of issues there already fixed.

Hi, I'm running Windows 7 Home Premium (Service Pack 1) and my computer has (relatively) recently stopped automatically updating. I have a constant alert in the status bar telling me this is the case with automatic updates and attempting it manually gives me an error code - 80096001 - immediately after attempting it. This problem may have coincided with me uninstalling AVG some time ago, but I'm not sure when it began for sure.

The reason for the thread title is because I recently attempted to install Microsoft Security Essentials, which also failed to auto-update in its initial setup. Could these issues be linked?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Morning Group,

I'm at my wits end on this.  I have a Windows 7 Pro computer with Office 365 installed, and all of a sudden, I'm getting the dialog box with the dreaded "Microsoft Outlook has stopped working...".    This in not only happening with Outlook, but all of Office apps, like Word, Excel and PowerPoint, to name a few.

To make things more interesting, everything was working perfectly up until a week ago.  During this time, I have made no other updates to any of my programs/apps.

I have gone to Microsoft's site, Google to find answers on how to fix the problem.   I tried everything possible.   I have download all of the latest Window 7 Pro updates, uninstalled, re-installed, safe boots, "outlook.exe /safe", and NOTHING solves the problem.  I even went as far as updating the drivers from HP.

I am very frustrated and angry that a solution cannot be found.

Has anyone out there experience the same thing and found a solution?

Sure would appreciate any more suggestions or ideas on how to solve this.

Thank you in advance!

Sincerely,

Sincerely,

Grant Boice

A week ago I installed Microsoft Office Small Business 2007 upgrade on top of Windows 2000, with no problems at all until now.

When I now open up Outlook 2007 after about 30 seconds I get an error message:-
Microsoft Office Outlook has stopped working, windows is collecting more information about this problem.

I then asked if I want to send more information about the problem to Microsoft.

The next message:- A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available.

Outlook closes and goes back to desktop.

I have looked on the Microsoft Office for updates or patches but there is nothing.

I am very concerned I cannot open this program as I have hundreds of contacts, email accounts and valuable data there.

If I uninstalled Office 2007 and re-install it again, will all my data still be on the computer, or will I loose everything?

Help please

When trying to open tools such as the firewall, event viewer or any other mmc snap-in i get the program has stopped wirking windows saying 'Microsoft Management Console has stopped working'

I have treid clean booting, restarting, check disk, sfc /scannow in cmd

Soes anyone have any suggestions on how to fix my problem

Answer:Microsoft Management Console has stopped working

Are you using a Universal Theme Patcher? I found out a long time ago, in windows 7, using such a tool for shell themes kills mmc and few other windows services. I don't use these "toys" any more. try sfc/scannow and then reboot.

Mail stopped working suddenly. When launching now it immediately disappears. It's too bad as I liked the program. Anyway to trouble shoot this??

TIA

Answer:Microsoft Mail stopped working suddenly

Run a system file check to look for corrupt files.

Right click at Start button > click Command Prompt (Admin) > at the flashing prompt, copy/paste this.......
sfc /scannow

> press Enter.
It will take quite sometime.
When finished, it will give you one of the 3 reports...............(paraphrasing)
1. No integrity violation.
2. Found corrupt files and repair successful.
3. Found corrupt files but unable to repair.

If the report is #1, your solution lies elsewhere.
If the report is #2, check if your problems have been resolved.
If the report is #3, use this method................
In the same Command Prompt (Admin) windows, copy and paste this command...........

dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth

> press Enter.
Again it will take some time.
When finished, it will give you a report.

I have installed Office 2003 on a Windows 7 Professional laptop. Excel intermittantly crashes with error message 'Microsoft Office Excel has stopped working'. The error occurs while doing various things, such as copy & paste, closing Excel, running macros etc.
Following advice from other forums I've tried

Repairing Excel.
Reinstalling Excel.
Disabling Bluetooth.
Setting BtOfficeAddin.BtOfficeIntegration data entry in the registry to 0x00000000 (0).
The macros worked fine on XP but I keep getting this error on Windows 7. Does anyone have any advice?

Once I click mentioned button i get another error message that reads:Microsoft office professional plus 2010 cannot verify the license for this application. A repair attempt failed or was canceled by the user. the application will now shut down.I also tried to unistall it and I receive the first error message I mentioned. I have tried backing up everything and reinstalling windows and I have also done a system restore to a point that I knew no errors were occuring and the problem just carries over. I searched the web as well but all I could find were these really complicated sulutions that I decided not to try for fear of making the problem worse. Any help will be completely appericiated.

I am trying to reinstall Microsoft Office 2007 Student Edition and I continue to receive the following error:
Microsoft Setup Bootstrapper has stopped Working.
"A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available".

Microsoft support informed me to try installing on a clean boot but the issue occurred. They provided me with a new download of Office 2007 and when attempting to install I continue to receive the error. I do not have any other versions of Office installed. This is very frustrating. I believe a lot of this began when I uninstalled "Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Express Edition" from my Laptop due to not working properly.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, I really need to get Office installed so I can complete my college courses.

Thank You
Ian

After a recent Microsoft update, the cd/dvd player on my computer has stopped working.  Previously, it worked just fine. When I checked in the device status, it says "This device is working properly."  However, when I put in a dvd, it spins a little and then a pop up box tells me to insert a disc into drive E.  I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the video graphics, etc., but to no avail.  In addition, I tried to update the drivers and that still did not work.  (The cd/dvd drive is listed as hp DVDRW SU 208GB SATA in properties.)  I have also tried to play an audio cd, but that doesn't work either.

Trying to start Outlook 2010, get message "Microsoft Outlook has stopped working".
(Same result in Outlook "safe mode".)
Outlook opens folder pane, message pane & preview pane. Then a popup with message above.
This is a Windows 10 system "upgraded" from Windows 7 about a year ago via GWX.
The email provider is COMCAST using an Exchange Server via RPC/HTTP connection.
Since we're talking about Exchange Server, the data files are .OSTs.
SFC finds no problems, and neither does CHKDSK.
Event log is cryptic to me (aren't they all?) but names "WINDOWS.UI.XAML.DLL" as faulting module.
I believe this module to be a component of KB3194496, recently installed via Windows Update.
It seems clear to me that this is a Windows Update issue.
There are no available Restore Points.
(event pasted below)
Has anyone else seen this?

Is there a work-around?

Thanks In advance...

I have seen many other people with this issue and this is more of a solution for others than a question...When trying to install/open some programs, this error would pop up, "microsoft (C) Register Server has stopped working."Running as administrator would sometimes allow the program to install/open but with errors, hangs, and incomplete installs. Here are some of the other "fixes":1)sfc /scannow from the command prompt"I did find problems with some files but this did not fix the problem, so good, but not the fix."2)Modifying DEP (Data Execution Prevention)"This is more of a workaround and doesn't completely fix the problem (or work at all)."3)system restore"This is due to being a time before you installed the problem program."4)Memtest"Will not do anything (unless there really are errors, but very unlikely)."5)Renaming Windows folder in ProgramData."This will rebuild the folder but did not fix the problem."6)Re-install Windows again!"Yes, this fixes the issue, unless you use the same programs every time like most people do and install it on the fresh install."The culprit and subsequent fix was AVAST! antivirus (the newest version as of this post). To fix the problem, disable AVAST! (and you might need to restart with it disabled)... until you are finished installing/running the program.I absolutely love AVAST!, have used it for 7+ years and never had this issue in the past. The reason most people see this happening is because antivirus is usually the first thing to go on after... my usb optical mouse was working just fine but when i switched on my laptop this morning it wasn't working anymore. the red laser is lit at the bottom of the mouse but the cursor doesn't move.

i checked the device manager and saw 2 alerts under the Human Interface Devices tab. One for HP Quick Launch Buttons and the other is for USB Human Interface Device. I presume the latter is my mouse. When i check on properties for both the alerts it says "Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)"

All the driver files do seem to be in place or so I think since I haven't done any changes lately. I have already tried uninstalling both error causing devices under the Human Interface Devices tab. But when I reboot, both the devices automatically re-appear and with the yellow exclamation mark error still there. Any ideas on how to resolve this??

I'm on a HP 500 notebook running on XP Home Edition Version 2002 Service Pack 3.

Hello again,

This thread is in relation to the other thread that I had created not too long ago. Over the course of the weekend, I've experienced some trouble when I had attempted to open my "Device Manager" in Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 x64. I opened under "System" in Windows 7, but it gives me a window that the MMC console has stopped working.

I've tried accessing through "Administrative Tools" under Control Panel. The problem remains the same. Therefore, I've tried reinstalling the entire operating system - but the problem remains the same. From my own research, the only way on preventing MMC from crashing is - disabling certain services and functions at startup (in this case, the "Themes" services). I've found out from one user (albeit running in a different operating system) who has a similar problem and it's all exhibited from these two links - here and here. I've followed that step and so far - all thing's are relatively stable.

I've also did an SFC (System File Checker) check in Windows 7, but they have failed to fix some of the problems relating to my issue.

To summarize, each time I wanted to access my hardware profile for my desktop system in Windows 7, the computer has kept crashing. I'm hinting that my hard drive is about to go bust any day now.

If you need any more information in regards to my hardware, please let me know. Also, what can I do to prevent MMC from crashing again in the future?

Sorry, which error? Could you post a screenshot?

Do you have any useful restore points or disk images?

Microsoft display adapter BC was working perfectly until a few days ago. It stopped working while I was watching a video. Now when I try to connect, the screen goes black for a few seconds and then the TV goes back to the Microsoft ready to connect screen. My computer screen flashes the message "display driver Intel HD graphics drivers for windows 8(R) stopped responding and has successfully recovered" I have not installed any new hardware or downloaded anything recently to cause this problem. Any advice?

Answer:Why has microsoft display adapter BC stopped working?

Hi guest,
I think you can try to register to this forum and it will help you track your questions solved more easily. The "display driver stopped responding had has recovered" is a common question. Normally it happens when you playing games, and view videos. Usually is the gpu overload operation or you need to update your graphic drivers.
You can try to solve this problem follow these steps:
1. Update the graphic drivers. (normally, when you do this step, it will solve your problem.)
2. End program by Task Manager, especially for game program and video program.
3. Increase the TDR data.
4. Update system package.
5. Reset GPU frequency.
6. Update Motherboard/Bios drivers.
7. Cooling computer.
8. Change graphic card.
And you can follow this article: How to fix display drivers stopped responding and has recovered to do it step by step.

Help!

Whenever I try to save in Microsoft Office Home and Student 2007 (Word, Excel and Powerpoint) I get the above error message and then it closes.

I have removed AVG from my computer and also uninstalled office and reinstalled it but this doesnt' help.

I can get it to work in safe mode but is there anything I can do to get it working properly?

Thank you!

Answer:Microsoft office has stopped working when saving

last time I had that problem and ran Office Diagnostics, it said the hard drive was the problem so I tested it and indeed the test confirmed it. New hard drive fixed the problem. However, I'm not suggesting you rush out and buy a new hard drive. Test it first with DOS-based diagnostic software like SeaTools for DOS which can test any drive brand and runs from a bootable CD:

Answer:Why has my Microsoft Lumia 535 suddenly stopped working?

Apologies for not being able to give you a solid answer about this.
If this were my phone I would use the "Lumia Software Recovery Tool" available here:http://download.fds-ncom.nokia.com/s...lInstaller.exe
If possible install the tool on a Windows desktop PC.
Let the tool update.
Follow the instructions from the tool.
Connect your phone to the PC to recover.
This will completely wipe the phone and you will have to start over as though the phone was new.
Hope this is helpful.
Good luck.

WHENEVER I LOG ONTO MY COMPUTER THE MESSAGE "MICROSOFT FEEDS SYNCRONIZATION HAS STOPPED WORKING" APPEARS. NO MATTER HOW MANY TIMES I DELETE THIS MESSAGE IT POPS UP AGAIN. WHAT DOES THIS MEAN? HOW DO I GET RID OF IT? PLEASE HELP

Answer:Microsoft Feeds Syncronization Stopped Working

Hey, open the start menu, type "msconfig.exe" in the search bar and press enter to run msconfig...

Go to the startup tab
If you see something concerning microsoft feeds syncronisation then uncheck the box next to it and press ok (this will pop up another box on startup warning you that your startup items were modified by msconfig but you just have to check "dont show me this again"...)

if not then go to the services tab and do the same

Cheers,

Since yesterday, I have been receiving the above message when I close Outlook (the program otherwise functions normally).I had recently removed PC Tools Antivirus and replaced it with AVG Free antivirus, but I don't think that this is the cause of the problem. For the record, I have Office 2007 Professional, Vista Home Premium, ZoneAlarm, Advanced WindowsCare V2 Personal, and Acrobat 8.1.2.One thing that might be of use in solving the situation: I had previously noticed that 2 add-ins had been disactivated by Outlook -- one for unified messaging in MS Exchange, and the other for PDF files in Outlook -- and now the latter (pdfmoutlook.dll) is no longer disactivated. I don't know how to go about disactivating this driver again.I have already tried using the various fix options for Office and Outlook, but the problem persists. All suggestions welcomed.Florio

Answer:Microsoft Management Console has stopped working!

Check for data corruption.Run Disk Check with Automatically fix file system errors checked. Post back your logs for the checks after finding them using Check Disk (chkdsk) - Read Event Viewer Log.
For any drives that do not give the message:
Windows has checked the file system and found no problems
run disk check again as above. In other words, if it says:
Windows has made corrections to the file system
after running the disk check, run the disk check again.

Run SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker up to three times to fix all errors with a restart in between each. Post back if it continues to show errors after a fourth run or if the first run comes back with no integrity violations.

Please help:

Logged onto my home computer yesterday (emailing this from a different computer) - had a virus: Live Security Platinum, which imitates a virus removal software program. Would not allow me to run my McAfee or access McAfee's website. Initially would not load up System Restore either, but after a couple of reboots, System Restore became available and I used this to restore my computer to about a week before. With computer up and running, I updated my virus protection and ran a full scan - three viruses were found and removed. Problem solved, or so I thought.

After this, Windows Update detected 16 new updates and these were downloaded and installed when I turned my computer off. Later, when turning my computer back on, there was a configuration of the new updates for a minute or two before the computer fully loaded up. When it loaded, I could not and still cannot:
- access the internet (not connected, ran troubleshooter which cannot find the problem but when I try to install a new connection, it says no hardware is detected - though broadband modem is connected and appears to be operating normally)
- open any Word or Excel documents (message says it cannot verify the licence for these products)
- run System Restore (message says "C:\Windows\system32\rstrui.exe - The specified service does not exist as an installed service"

Have tried rebooting. Ran virus scan again but came back clean. Cannot update virus protection as cannot access internet ... Read more

Hello,I will be helping you with your problems. Please be patient while I assist you. Some points for you to keep in mind while I am helping you to make things go easier and faster for both of us Please do NOT run, install or uninstall any programs, unless instructed to do so.
We ask you to run different tools in a specific order to ensure the malware is completely removed from your machine, and running any additional tools may detect false positives, interfere with our tools, or cause unforeseen damage or system instability. Please do not attach logs or use code boxes, just copy and paste the text.
Due to the high volume of logs we receive it helps to receive everything in the same format, and code boxes make the logs very difficult to read. I can't open any photo files, it says they have the wrong file name.
I had to update windows 10 because word stopped working ( I had already updated to Windows 10 from Windows 8, thinking it can't be worse than Windows 8 - but I was wrong about that.) Word 13 stopped working a few days ago, and a computer techician tried to identify what was wrong. After checking various things he reinstalled Windows 10. Now I can't open any photo files, it says they have the wrong file name. I could always open the photos before. How can I view and edit my photos as I could before ?
Also is this problem with Word 13 continually jamming and stopping working also due to some windows 10 issue, or is it a virus ?

Answer:Updated Windows 10 because Word stopped working. Now photo files won't open. What could it be?

More than likely you have fallen victim to two different things.
First, you probably got one of those macro viruses contained within Word documents, and yes, it will give problems with Word.
Second, you fell victim to a computer technician that failed to recognize the issue with the macro virus and wiped your system to try to fix the issue, because he didn't know what else to do.
A third scenario was that you not only had a macro virus for Word 13, but also a host of other viruses and trojans on your system and the technician had no choice but to wipe your system to get rid of it all. That can happen when you reach a certain threshold with those viruses.
From here, you still have options.
More than likely, as you are on a re-install, the file association for what program or app should open a photo file has been broken. When you try to open a photo file, it should pop up with a box asking you what program to open it with. Use the checkbox and tell it always open with this program, and then select the program that you want to use to open the photos.
If you need further assistance, please register for an account and return to this thread with further information.

We had a computer that was infected with a virus which was responsible for the annoying "XP 2011 Security...." pop up. To the best of our knowledge we successfully removed that virus. I recently discovered, on the same machine, that Microsoft and Windows Update and Windows Defender Update won't work with the error "error number: 0X80070424". I also found the Firewall had been disabled (one of the services had been removed). The microsoft fix utility did not fix the problem. Symantec Antivirus and Malwarebytes found nothing. Spybot Search and Destroy found a few harmless things and the Sophos Rootkit checker found nothing of significance.
