Outlook 2007 causing "Insufficient system resources" error

Question: Outlook 2007 causing "Insufficient system resources" error

I have a user who gets insufficient resources errors at random times during the day.

browsing to her network drives, causes this error. The drive is not displayed.
Printing causes this error. The document does not print
She basically, can't do anything.
The system has 2gb of memory, not a ton, but taskmgr shows there is lots of room there, CPU usage also isn't high.
Programs usually running are
Autocad 2008
Outlook 2007
and random programs.
pdf documents in Acrobat Pro
Internet Explorer 8

I close out Outlook 2007, and the error goes away, she is able to print and continue as normal.
I open Outlook 2007 back up, and she is running fine for a while.

I remember older versions of Office creating a memory leak, which was addressed in patches and service packs, but I didn't think a memory leak issue existed in 2007.
Anyone else seen this kind of behaviour, and if so, solutions?

Preferred Solution: Outlook 2007 causing "Insufficient system resources" error

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Whenever I click "Check for Updates" in the Windows 7 update dialog, the scanning bar moves and moves, but it never passes this step. In eventvwr, there's an error with description:

"Insufficient system resources exist to complete the requested service."

Windows updates never install. This is my laptop in my signature, so system resources shouldn't be a problem, what with 3 GB ram available, core2duo, etc. Any ideas on what I can do to fix this?

Thank you!

This happens on a windows xp, srvice pack 3. Not using any programs that is using a lot of memory, no videos or games. Started last week.

also have received error saying "not enough storage is available to proceed with this command" when I try to open up any other programs.

I've ran numerous scans, and the next step is for me to do some work in the registry, but wanted to get some advice first.

I've read to increase the IRPStackSize, haven't done that yet. Any suggestions?

I cannot map 2 network drives for a user. I get the error "insufficient system resources exist to complete the requested service." The server resources and his system resources are fine. Just to make sure I ran disk clean and defrag. I made sure he had all windows updates and all latest drivers for his machine. The user said that the drives just disappeared one day. He is able to connect to the network. Any ideas?

I am experiencing an interesting problem with system resources in Windows XP which, quite frankly, is driving me mad!!!

When the PC has been on for some time (say 10 hours +) it grinds to a halt and I get the following message when I try to open an application etc.

"insufficient system resources exist to complete the requested service"

Nothing will fix it, other than to crash out and re-boot. The PC is then fine for another 10 hours or so.

I have already re-formatted this PC, reinstalled Windows XP and a conservative repertoire of well known programs, but to no avail.

Can anyone please tell me why this is happening and what I can do to fix it? The PC is running perfectly, otherwise. I just wondered if there were any issues with Norton Antivirus, as this program seems to be quite memory intensive??? Spec: AMD Athlon XP 2200+, 1.80ghz, 512 RAM, Win XP (Home) fully updated with all patches.

Many thanks, Esmeralda

This morning when I attempted to use my computer, any application (IE, OE, everything) I tried to start gave an error message (paraphrasing) “Insufficient resources exist to complete the requested task.” I thought a reboot was in order and when attempting that got “you do not have permission to shut down this computer” or something similar.

After unplugging and rebooting everything seems normal, but I’m going to run AV, anti-spyware and Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool.

Event log shows an error at the same time “the server was unable to allocate from the system nonpaged pool because the pool was empty”. Server? I’m not networked to a server….I’m sure it means something else, but what?

Recent software changes: Deleting MS Antispyware due to inability to upgrade to their new Beta 2 Defender (something do to with GDI, which I tried to fix by following info on the MS site), and downloading some critical updates from MS.

I’ve done searches on the errors and the answers don’t apply. I’ll probably revert my HD with an application called GoBack if the scans don’t find anything but thought you people might know what caused this.

Win2K is my OS.

I'll be checking for responses as I can't get response notices due to my ISP.

Thanks in advance,

For some time my wife's computer has been running real slow - i recently bumped memory up to 3/4 gig, and it did not help much. Before and after i get 'insufficient system resources' and/or 'microsoft is re-allocating ??? memory (is the word virtual?)

i have tried 5 steps - but dss hangs and quits (tell microsoft?) at orafter 'clear temps'. I cleared temps with disk cleaner (microsoft system tools), and ran hijack this without dss. (did not try dss after disk cleaner)

in this email i am putting hijack log first and then panda log - should i have appended panda log? not clear to me from 5 steps.

I appreciate you all out there! thanks: rick berry

I have followed the 5 steps to recovery, my computer freezes an hr or 2 after startup. Initially after startup performance is ok. Only a recent problem. Attached is the saved log from panda's online virus scan as well as extra.txt.

"insufficient memory resources" comes up when a program is opened when the system freezes. Also i am unable to shut down normally.

Hi, I haven't found exactly the answer I am looking for so hope someone can help.

When I use Excel 2003, on this computer I receive the error message "Not enough system resources to display completely." It happens when I open excel, and it happens every time I try to access a cell. I click "OK" then go to the next cell where the error message pops up again. This makes using excel VERY difficult and frustrating.

We thought at first this was a memory issue, so I added RAM to the computer. Still no luck. Then my husband asked an IT guy at work and he made some comment about making sure there was enough "virtual memory" and tried making some changes with that - don't remember what they were but they didn't work either! I've even removed the software from the computer and tried reloading it - that didn't work either.

Please, please, please does anyone have any ideas on what to do to get this error message to go away and make it so that I can actually USE excel?!

I tried logging on a few times, restarting the computer and such before coming to this site on my mother's computer. After awhile, it said this message:

"Your system is running low on resources. You cannot log on as a new user Please use an account that has already been logged on."

I only have one account on my computer. Also, I have fingerprint software on my Dell XPS m1330. I tried using that to log on but the same message is showing up. Now the fingerprint software is giving me an error as well - some number.

Right now the laptop is off and plugged in. Are there any other steps that I need to take regarding these two new errors?

Process.start is causing error "The system cannot find the file specified." when IE is opened using ShDocvw.dll.
I am having a form with two buttons, one to open an html file and the other is to navigate a URL.

The following code is used to open the html file.

Private Sub OpenViewer_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles btnOpenViewer.Click

Dim objProcess As New Process

objProcess.StartInfo.FileName = "c:\Example1.html"
objProcess.StartInfo.Verb = "open"
objProcess.StartInfo.CreateNoWindow = True

End Sub

the above code is working fine as long as i am using only this button click. But in special scenario this is causing error "The system cannot find the file specified."

I am using ShDocvw.dll to open up the IE with a URL.

the folloing is the code using for that.

Private Sub OpenIE_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles btnOpenIE.Click

Dim objBrowser As New SHDocVw.InternetExplorer

End Sub

Once if i click on "btnOpenIE" to Open the IE to navigate to a URL. After that click on "btnOpenViewer" to open the file using process.start is causing the error "The system cannot find the file specified."

Had a sudden inability to go much further than a third or forth-level download on ANY given webpage and then PC would seize-up, requiring "cont+alt+del" in order to get freed-up. Thought perhaps I picked-up a bug of some sort during a recent google search, and went immediately to Panda and Trendmicro to perform both virus as well as malware scans. While the Panda scan was loading-up, I received the following error message....

... " DoPatch....dll reports error....Error "C:\WINNT\patch.utp"....unreadable or not a patch file..."

Was able to complete both scans. Nothing found other than tracking cookies.

I then did a file serch for the above and located it. It was installed TODAY apparently, and not by me, within minutes of the problem starting.

I'm guessing someone/thing slipped this patch into my WINNT file or modified it while I was doing the google search, so I have included a HJT scan below.

Hope this all makes sense and ties-out to something. Any help would be genuinely appreciated-

Outlook 2007 is behaving badly. It has now started very regularly giving me this error message:

"Out of memory or system resources. Close some windows or programs and try again."

I don't understand why. I don't recall making any changes to my setup, etc, which has been operating just fine with Office 2007 until the last few weeks.

I am running Windows XP. I have 3 Gb of RAM, yet when I only have Outlook running and nothing else, it'll throw up that message once I open 4-5 emails, even plain text ones. The first time I know I have a problem is either when I cannot read the email (it's 'transparent' so that I'm reading what's on the screen behind it, rather than the email) or when it won't allow me to add an attachment to an email. And if I do have other programs open, it makes no difference if I do close them down. Outlook won't function until I close it and re-open it. But I'm starting to have to do that a dozen times a day!

When I have WIndows Task Manager running, I can see that every time I open an email, the use of system resources balloons anywhere to 35 - 55% which makes no sense (more even than booting up Word or Excel). But I can't figure out where the problem might lie. Any suggestions?

I tried creating a new Outlook profile, rebooted, used that. Same problem.
I tried hunting through Microsoft Support, but couldn't find anything that mirrored this problem.

Hi I run Windows Vista Home Premium and Outlook 2007. I've set up POP3 access for Gmail and to download mail from (an Australian ISP). Initial setup was fine and I can send test messages to myself.

Recently I've had trouble sending (but not receiving) email via Outlook. The following error message is shown:

Sending' reported error (0x80042109) : 'Outlook cannot connect to your outgoing (SMTP) email server. If you continue to receive this message, contact your server administrator or Internet Service Provider (ISP).

This message occurs for both my email accounts.

If I reboot the computer, then sometimes the mail will be sent successfully. I've checked the "account settings" on Outlook- and they are exactly as those given by my ISP/Gmail. But when I click on "test account settings", the test message can't be sent.

What's going on?!

Answer:Outlook 2007 "Sending reported error"- can receive mail but can't send!!

Refer to the earlier query in this section dated 10th April under heading " OE suddenly asking for Logon Password" which shows possible ways of overcoming this . I reckon it's server problem as I had it re-occur a couple of days ago . My Mail is Btinternet which started rejecting my outward messages. I know that BT uses Yahoo so Isubstituted "" for "" ( OE/Tools/Accounts/Properties/Servers) and it immediately started working . So whatever the ISP says it IS their fault and somehow their systems start rejecting things for no valid reason .

My system crashed recently and I have had to restore everything. I reinstalled Outlook 2007 and was able to restore my PST file from a backup I had using the genie backup product. All my files and folders are now restored.

When I click on the send/receive button, I get this message "The operation failed. An object could not be found"

I deleted my email setup account (I'm downloading from my att account) and re set it up using the instructions on the att site. I also ran the 'repair' function off the Office CD and did the Office diagnostics.

Any suggestions?

Hello all, I started having problems with my pc a few days ago and kept getting this message while trying to boot it up. I'm using a friends lap top to post this to try and get some answers.

Every single time I start up my pc, I get the message that's in my title. I've even tried booting it in safe mode and I still get this message. I've seen threads and posts about this issue, but they all started receiving this message while thier pc's were actually able to get xp to boot.

I'm hoping that this is posted in the right forum.

Can anyone tell me something I can do to get it to work again?

Answer:"Insufficient system resoures exist to complete the API"

Hmm, I've seen anything from too much ram Vs. not enough HDD space, to hibernation issues.

A suggested fix is detailed below, considering you can't get into the system, even in Safemode:

Removing all but 1 stick of memory, booting into Safemode, unchecking the "Enable Hibernation" box in power Properties, deleting the 'hiberfil.sys' file and then reinstalling your memory.

See '' and '' for further insight.

Two of the systems will not move/copy a 20 GB file over the home network. They give me the 0x800705AA error "Insufficient System Resources exist to complete the requested service". Both of these systems are dual core processors (E6600 and E6750). The third system has no trouble sending or receiving the 20 GB files(s) from the other two systems. The third system uses a Q9550 processor. All three systems have 4 GB of memory. Can someone please give me a hint of what is wrong with the first two systems. Did the problem get carried over from Vista? Do I need to go through the hassel of reinstalling W7 or will a system repair work? I suspect it is something in the registry concerning the network since I am not aware of any other problems. I copy/move 1+GB DVD files over the network almost daily and have never had a problem.

Answer:Insufficient System Resources Error Message

What is HDD free space situation on the 2 systems in question?

Are temp storage files cleaned out?

- Run the Cleaning Manager Utility -
START | type cmd.exe into the start search box | right-click on cmd.exe above under programs | select Run as Administrator | type cleanmgr tuneup in the cmd/DOS screen. Check the following boxes:

- Temp Setup Files
- Downloaded Program Files
- Temp Internet Files
- Recycle Bin
- System error memory dump files (NOT the next line - minidump files)

Just started having this problem.

After leaving the computer on for a few hours, none of my applications work and I get the following error message when I try to run an application: "insufficient system resources exist to compltete the requested serivce".

I then have to reboot the computer to get back to normal.

Just wondering what's causing this problem and how I can solve it.

Any help would be appreciated.

Im getting this error when copying from Vista to a shared folder on XP client, further more the XP clients system resources are actually flooded and needs to be restarted before it can regain the system resources. Incredibly annoying.

I have a Windows 7 PC with 128 GB SSD for Windows, several RAID arrays (tens of TB each with hardware RAID) as massive local data storage, and a SAN for back up. The massive HDD arrays are not mounted with a drive letter but as several folders inside the C: drive (the SSD). I am doing this because I need to use a weird research program for processing satellite data which is only capable of accessing C: drive.
My problem is that I always got an "insufficient disk space" error while trying to copy a large files between the arrays (from one folder mounted NTFS partition to another folder mounted partition). Windows seems having a hard time detecting the free space in the destination disk since the free space was always calculated from available disk space in the C: drive instead of the destination array.
I am really sure there is no problem regarding the array itself, file system or other limitation as I can successfully copy some large files from the SAN to the arrays. The problem only happens while I am copying some some large files, which is larger than the free disk space in the C: drive, between the mounted NTFS partitions.
Using xcopy, robocopy or third party file copying tools is out of the question since the main user of this PC is my Professor which is not keen to terminal usage or editing a batch file. All he wants to do is simple drag and drop in windows explorer (not other kind of file explorer/commander).

Have you looked at Dropbox?
I am lost as to how you have large folders inside C Drive but not actually there but seem to remember a way of making that happen - will think about it.

Hello friends,

Im using the "desktop sync" function for Egnyte to sync specific folders/files to my lapotop (running Windows 10), so that they are available offline. The sync began and synced about 50gb of the selected data, but now has stopped syncing and gives the error message "insufficient disc space".

The drive that I'm syncing to shows that it still has 150gb+ of free space, so I don't understand why I'm getting this error message. I can't find any settings in Egnyte that would explain the issue, so I'm wondering if there is a setting for the synced folder in Windows 10? Perhaps I need to tell Windows 10 to allow Egnyte to sync more data?

I have no idea. If you know what's happening I'd greatly appreciate your insight on how to fix this issue!

Does anyone know if its possible to autofill the "from field" as a rule, when your in "another users /delegates" mailbox, so you dont have to add their address in the "from field"? (so it will autopopulate with their email address (and show "on behalf of")?
I hope this was clear.

Answer:Solved: outlook 2007 "from field" 'on behalf of" issue

No ... its not possible if the user has more than one delegate (that has added them with the applicable rule). from that point on, they will have to choose which person they want to add to "sent" on behalf of field.

However, If they have just one (one only) user who has added them with that permission (to send on behalf of), it will auto-populate with that user.

So, It does not matter even if they are "in" a specific users mailbox (and expect the "on behalf of" to auto fill with that users name). If they have more than one delegate that has added them with that permission, they will still have to choose which user the message will sent "on behalf of"

i figured this out by trail and error etc

I have received pdf files from several different sources and have attempted to read them using Acrobat Reader 5.0. The first couple of pages are fine, then usually around the third page I get an error "insufficient data for image." The result is one or several blank pages in the middle of the document. The last few pages are usually OK. I have tried various options within Reader such as disabling "Display pdf in browser", disabling "Allow fast web view", etc. I have also tried to open the file with Ghostscript and I have used both MSIE and Netscape Communicator but nothing seems to work. If anyone has had similar experiences with pdf I would greatly appreciate hearing how you resolved it. Thanks in advance for any help.

My computer has gone crazy. I cannot open anything or start any program ...I get the same error message - insufficient system resources. It was working fine this morning but now....nothing works. Please help.

Answer:Error - Insufficient system resources exist to complete the requested service

There are several possible causes.
What were you doing when this behaviour started and the error message appeared?
What are your computer specifications (including RAM, OS, storage used, etc)?
Can you get to Task Manager (Ctrl + Alt + Del)?
What happens if you try to start in "Safe Mode", or using "last known good configuration"?
Have you downloaded anything recently or added new hardware (think about automatic downloads too)?
How old is the computer?
Are all cables and connectors tight? RAM properly seated?
Could you have a malware problem (does your computer have adequate protection and have you run scans regularly)?
Does the error appear as soon as you boot, or after some time?

I am experiencing an interesting problem with system resources in Windows XP which, quite frankly, is driving me mad!!!

I leave my PC on for days and lately, after being on for about a day it would give me an error:
"insufficient system resources exist to complete the requested service" when I try to open any program such as Mozilla firefox, iTunes, etc... My whole computer becomes useless as nothing seems to work, not even task manager. The only thing I can do is reboot, and the whole thing happens again after being on for a certain amount of time.

My computer specs: 3.2 ghz, 2 X 160 GB SATA in RAID 0 (1 newly installed), 1gb of RAM, Dell Dimension 8400.
I have enough memory, so I don't know what's up. I scanned my computer already and nothing comes up.

I'm getting so frustrated having to reboot, and coming back after a long day and finding my computer completely unfunctional.

Can someone please help me?

My computer is having some kind of mystery problem. Something is slowing it down, but I don't know what.

I have a P4 running Windows ME, but only 128MB of Rambus RAM. When I start the computer, and right-click My Computer Performance, the best I ever get, with nothing running in the system tray, is maybe 79%.

I'm sure it might take 5%-10% of the CPU's power and resources to run the ME operating system, but isn't 79% low? Right now, I have a few windows open and am running AVG anti-virus protection, so now the system resources are at 48%.

I've run Adware SE, Spyware Doc, AVG, Hijack This, Spybot, etc, and I can't find any lingering problems. I will post the Hijack log below, just in case.

I can't even play counter-strike 1.6, because my CPU is too bogged down.

Any help or suggestions about freeing up system resources?

Whenever my laptop comes out of Hibernate or Stand By mode, I get this error: "System Error : Insufficient system resources exist to complete the API." What exactly does this mean? Thanks in advance!

Answer:System Error : Insufficient System Resources...

Googling this problem comes up with a lot of people having the same problem but not any one solution. Oddly, it is experienced more when there is more than one Gig of memory.
Make sure that all programs are closed including Outlook before going into hibernate. Below is typical of what is found on the net:

August 2005
This is a known issue with hibernation on systems with 1GB or more memory (2GB seems to be the pain threshold). The problem is caused by excessive memory fragmentation on the system. So, you would be less likely to see the problem shortly after booting up, but after starting up a few applications which use memory in a very fragmented manner, you might run into it. The kernel power manager?s hibernation code cannot get allocate enough resources to build its internal data structures to handle the high number of distinct memory allocations that occur when memory gets badly fragmented. Sadly, the only possible (just possible) work around is to try re-booting the system, closing any apps that are open, etc. There is no fix for XP SP2 right now.

Please Help. I have just gone from using Norton & AVG to using McAfee in the last couple of days. Yesterday my laptop started going crazy. The letters on the Start button would disappear, and when I go to "Turn off Computer" the window comes up that usually matches with "Log off".

As well, when I try to run the McAfee scan, before it finishes (sometimes hours, sometimes minutes after it has been started) I get messages that say stuff like "insufficient system resources", etc. The last scan that got through did find a couple of viruses.

As well, I just managed to finish another Search and Destroy scan before this happened. I saw something like "Windows.something.something.ShutdownFirewall & .shutdownAntiVirus" or something like that.

However the pc is still running slowly.

I have been searching for an answer to solve a problem with the the process named "System" (not "System Idle"). It may start at 0% but as the day wears on it grows in both size and % of CPU resource use, many times consuming 99% of resources but with no active applications launched and any other processes using resources.
The computer bogs down and it freezes during Shutdown. There have been numerous postings about this problem but no real solutions that anyone acknowledged that worked for a desktop configuration.
The computer is a Compaq Presario desktop, AMD Athlon 64 3400+, 2.2 GHz, 1.5 Gig of RAM, running XP Home.
I have run AVG, Trend Micro, Norton & AdAware with no success.
I reinstalled Windows XP Home and Windows Update. No success.
I removed the Internal Battery to reset the BIOS. No success.

Answer:HELP! error message:"memory resources exist to complete the API" seen before welcome

Add any RAM recently? This issue generally has something to do with hibernation mode with systems that have more than 1GB of memory, however this seems unrelated. I would say that your OS is cooked possibly, if it was bad RAM or power supply or mobo it would have more symptons so it is definetly software related in my opinion, my suggestion would be to get the data you need off with a live CD, then install a freash copy of windows.

Hey everyone,

I'm trying to install the 30day trial for WinAutomation WinAutomation Macro Recorder and Windows Automation Software but I keep getting this error and yesterday I searched for about 5 hours for the solution but nothing worked and today I'm getting close to match that.

So far I've:

Searched "User Shell Folders" registry folders for incorrect values.

Ran a bunch of Microsoft FixIts.(everywhere I found someone having a "Could not access network location..." problem with a FixIt solution posted in the same thread, I dlded and executed that FixIt)

Uninstalled firefox then tried to install WA.

Updated .NET Framework to latest.
None of the above is working. Please help me solve this.
I've also sent an email to WA support team about it but since this seems to be a windows problem I feel like it's not their job to worry about it.

Answer:Error: "Could not access network location \Resources"

Where did you download the installer to? Where is it running from? This will help us understand your problem better.

I am getting the error "Failed to load resources from resource file. Please check your Setup" This happens every time I try to access a Word document. I am using Word 2003 from the Small business pkg.

I searched on their site and there was a download for those who use the Outlook business contact manager also, which I do. I downloaded the file, when to install it and it says it is already there.

I am running Windows 2000, this just started today and my updates are up to date.

Any ideas? I can ignore the warning and work, if I click OK or the X, it shuts down Word.

I use Windows XP. I boot from my 40gig HD and have an 80gig slave drive. My computer's worked great untill 2 days ago. Now whenever I boot up, it does the usual cd rom and floppy drive noises then it shows a black screen that says "A Disk Read Error Occured. Press CTRL ALT DELETE"

So I CTRL ALT DELETE it and then it tries to boot up and says "Error Reading Operating System". It alternates between these two messages when I reboot

Here's the thing though, After about about 20 minutes messing with the computer (turning it off and on and restarting multiple times), it will finally load windows and work just fine. All my data is on my hard drive and everthing runs smooth. But then it will give me the same errors when I try to boot up the next time.

What can I do?

My organisation has just rolled out an Exchange 2007 Server.
I am a desktop support engineer for my unit. We are setting up access to the server through Outlook 2003.

A small number of Outlook 2003 users get this error message when they are using a .prf file to configure their clients.

"Your Exchange Server administrator has blocked the version of Outlook that you are using. Contact your administrator for assistance."

This is XP SP2 running Outlook 2003 (error occurs on Office, Office SP2 and Office SP3) connecting to Exchange 2007.

I have tried tried applying SP2 and SP3 to Office and completely reinstalling Office but it still occurs.

I am told by the Server Administrators that this is a local problem so I am not getting any help from them. I tend to believe them that it's not server side because I set one of the profiles up on two PCs next to eachother. On one it worked fine but on the other it had this error message. I could not see a difference in the two Outlook installations.
I have read this article here but a lot of the questions it asks and tests involve having administrator access over the server which I do not have.

Does anyone know of anything in the local Office installation that I do have control over that has been known to cause this?

All the best,

Answer:Solved: Outlook 2003/Exchange 2007 - "Your Version of Outlook has been blocked..."

Hi we managed to find the solution so I'm posting it here to help others.

We inherited a number of builds that were done by other companies. It appears these builds have in the past had previous versions of Office installed. This has resulted in registry keys lurking around from the old installs.

Once we removed these registry entries it worked.

Best way to do this that I could think of is to

1) Uninstall Office and then search the registry for any references to Outlook. You can do this using AML Free Registry Cleaner (which has a search function). Ignore any hits for Outlook Express you are only insterested in Office Outlook.

2) If this is the problem that you are having then you will find registry entries in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\7.0 or 8.0 or 9.0 etc.

3) Delete any Outlook folders in the above tree. Onc eof the keys in the Outlook folder will be Version and this appears to be what is being read when the server asks what version you have.

4) Reinstall Office - it should now work.

All the best,

Below the message is an "OK" button. I click it and continue as all appears normal.

What does this message mean ? Should I do something about it ? If "yes" what ?

Answer:Error "Unable to load Resources"

I would think that this is a piece of software that runs at your startup.
You could try using a startup manager and disable all your programs that run at startup and see if it happens again.

If all good, enable each one, one by one until you find the culprit. Then re-install this piece of software and all should be fine (I hope)

A good simple startup manager is this one from Mike Lin (Free)

Hi everybody,
I have a pretty serious problem, serious enough for me to create an account and post here. As listed in this post I downloaded HijackThis and saved a log file (which is pasted lower) but every other program the post says to download will not open. DDS, GMER, ComboFix, and OTL all display an error message that states "A device attached to the system is not functioning". It only say this though with specific programs on my system. Panda Recovery for instance will not start and shows the error, but Malwarebytes and TDSS killer still work. Both however have not helped finding the a fix to my problem. Microsoft Security Essentials also found 2 potential threats that have made multiple attempts at infection. They are Exploit:Java/CVE-2011-3544.gen!A and TrojanDownloader:Java/Rexec.I This unfortunately is all the information I am able to give you guys. I hope someone here can help me with this.

My problem started 08/21/07 and I've been hoping someone could look at this. I apparently caught a Trojan and can't get rid of it.

This trojan has screwed up my explorer file. I'm unable to get a display of my DeskTop (blue screen only). Reduced to using TaskMgr to run iexplore to access internet and navigate. Ran explorer and received the following error:

explorer.exe - Entry Point Not Found

(X) The procedure entry point PrintWindow cound not be located in the dynamic link library USER32.dll.

[OK] Click to expand...

I can muddle around with TaskMgr, but I no longer have my display for desktop or menu bar (i.e., Start and such).

Had a security 'expert' instruct me to rename my USER32.DLL to USER32.OLD which hosed my computer (could not boot up). Had to find my OS disk to get back in and rename the file back so I can get back to where I was.

Was working fine, then something went wrong. COX Secuity Suite blurped it caught a Trojan (didn't catch name). It had blocked it, but couldn't remove it. Explorer will no longer load.

I looked in the subdir and found explorer.exe was gone. I pulled a copy of explorer.exe from the old C: (now D, but I get the same error message.

I can muddle around with TaskMgr, but I no longer have my display for desktop or menu bar (i.e., Start and such).

checked for problems. Performance might be affected while the check is in

Then the message quickly dissapears before you can even read it properly and outlook closes automatically.

Hello - strange problem one of our users is having - when she picks up a draft email (she has previously prepared) then sends it, the email is recieved with the draft date, instead of the sending date. This means that the recipient cant see the new message (they will find it in listed as being recieved on the "draft" date). I have been unable to duplicate this error! Has anyone heard of this happening?

I just completed some Windows Updates, and since that time, Outlook 2007 is not working properly. I can no longer receive email from my gmail account. I looked in the Account Settings and noticed that the "Account Type" pull-down menu is grayed out. Any ideas on how to fix this???

Hi -

I'm having some trouble with Outlook XP (2002) and Exchange 2007 and haven't been able to find a solution elsewhere.

Basically, I get a message when I try to log on telling me that the server is down or that there's a network problem. (The exact text is: "Unable to display the folder. Microsoft Outlook could not access the specified folder location. The Microsoft Exchange Server computer is not available. Either here are network problems or the Microsoft Exchange Server computer is down for maintenance.")

To get around this, I have to:

1) delete my mail account
2) re-create my mail account,
3) restart Outlook.

Going through this process will allow me to read my mail and access the calendar until I stop Outlook, at which time I need to go through this entire process again.

Another potential symptom of the problem is that if I put a name in as the exchange server in the mail setup window, this whole process doesn't work -- I actually have to put in the IP address. When I click "next" the address is replaced with the name (e.g., "EX03"), which might be related to why it doesn't work the next time I try to start Outlook).

Any help/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Answer:Solved: Outlook XP (2002) vs Exchange 2007 -- reports "not available"

Sounds like a DNS issue, for some reason it is having problems resolving the hostname to the IP. Make an entry if your HOSTS file for the server.

Working on a fresh installation of Win7 Ultimate and Office 2007 Ultimate.

Got Outlook installed and setup with my mail accounts (this is the first time I'm using Outlook - moved from Thunderbird) and it synced with my phone and all seemed to be right with the world.

Then I tried to send an email message. It gives me the error: "the operation failed. an object cannot be found." and the message goes to the "Outlook" folder in the Personal Folders (even though I told it to send sent mail to another folder).

This is an GMail IMAP account in Outlook 2007. I've been googling and it might have something to do with Offline Address Books, but the instructions for rebuilding them are to open Exchange Service Manager or something like that... I don't have that.

Can someone help me out on this issue? If I can't send mail, obviously that's a killer, but I'd really like to use Outlook because I have a WinMo phone and need to sync the calendar and tasks and so on.

Hello there,

Outlook 2007 Imap account can't get the new items synced in to its "Inbox" folder. Other imap folders are up to date. The problem is only with Inbox.

The newly arrived items on webmail's inbox are not appeared in my outlook's inbox. When I move it to any other folder on webmail, then it reflects in outlook. (I mean its only outlook's inbox that stopped syncing, while all other subscribed folders do)

The 'updating cached messages' task shows the count as per webmail's inbox count, but it wont actually update all of them. For eg, there are 1500 items in webmail's inbox & outlook's inbox has got just 1000, the task while running shows as 'updating cached messages x/1500' and once the count reaches 1000/1500, it ends.

When an item is deleted from outlook's inbox, it reflects on webmail & similarly when deleted on webmail, its deleted on outlook's inbox as well. The only thing is outlook inbox, which no longer receives new mail.

Have spent ample of time to identify the issue but no luck yet. There are 100+ systems in the network with same setup and this issue is observed in about 8-10 pcs as of now. When the account is reconfigured there is no issue. So the problem is linked to outlook profile or pst which we couldnt figure out & find a fix.

System Spec:
XP SP3 on core2duo with 4GB of Ram, Office 2007 Standard, Symantec Endpoint Protection.

Have anybody experienced this?
Appreciate your help!!

Now, my CPU usage has been spiking a lot, and the system tray shows that Outlook is constantly "synchronizing folders."

I turned-off the RSS feed, and I am not connecting with an Exchange server (only POP3).

I often receive emails from my Pet Lover community that have images embedded in the body. I have a special email folder on my desktop into which I used to be able to download the pictures by selecting "view in browser" from my Outlook 2007 menu bar. Google Chrome would display all the images and I would download from there.

All of a sudden, when I select that command, all I get is text. It's almost as if I am looking at the source. I've uploaded a .doc file with the screen shot of what I get from that command.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I know I could copy each and paste into Paint, then crop, save, etc., etc.. I simply don't have the time for all the extra steps.

For the past two days I've been getting BSOD while playing games. This only occurs while a game is open and sometimes the blue screen doesn't even come up, the pc simply restarts and comes up with the pop up like it does when you get a BSOD.

It first occured when I upgraded to windows 10 (from win7), naturally I downgraded to win7 however the usb drivers became corrupt and therefore I had to clean install win7. After doing so the same problem occured giving a BSOD with this in the dump file:
(1st crash ) Imgur: The most awesome images on the Internet
(2nd crash ) Imgur: The most awesome images on the Internet

After seeing this I fresh installed windows again and the problem is still occuring, Ive tried installing older graphic drivers however that made no difference (im currently running the drivers that came on a cd with my pc).

Here are my specs: Imgur: The most awesome images on the Internet
In the attachments is the file produced by SysnativeBSODCollectionApp.

Any suggestions as to the source of the problem or solution greatly appreciated.

Answer:BSOD causing by "dxgkrn.sys" and "ntoskrnl.exe""

[Update] Because the forum won't allow me to edit the post anymore.
Before the actual "crashing"/BSOD starting I was getting errors saying "The display driver has stopped working and recovered" and "Application X has been blocked from using graphic software". This was all happening while playing cs:go. After a while of restarting csgo and continuing to play for about 5 min before it crashed again it just started restarting or the monitor went blank and the pc stayed on forcing me to hold the power button to restart it.
The BSOD/black screens/restarts mostly happen while playing games however they sometimes occur while browsing or when the computer is simply on without anything (but the antivirus) running.

Hi -

Hoping you can help me. I need to set up an Outlook 2007 rule for marking all incoming mail as read, but it must reside on the exchange server.

The issue is that we need to ensure that all files that are incoming to this particular mailbox are marked as read to prevent them from repeatedly ftp'ing a file to an application server. This is an unmanned mailbox. I've read several forums that say the "Mark as Read" rule can only be set up client side.

Anyone know if that is correct? Or... have any suggestions?

Hello everyone,

I tried to describe the problem in words and PICS but it was getting so difficult/complex and essentially, confusing to explain it, that I decided to make a video uploaded to YouTube called:

The video explains everything in detail. It has to do with changing the regular mouse-pointers with a set called BIG RED POINTERS. These RED pointers are fantastic for making videos because they are so big and visible.

I have done this process with many systems (XP, Win 7, Win 8.1) for the past 10 years and this process has always worked. This time, I changed the process by DELETING some items from the Windows/Cursors FOLDER and that, apparently, is causing an error, probably with the Register, that I have no idea how to fix.

My daughter's pc apparently got infected, despite my running AV, AdAware, Spyware Guard, Spybot S&D, and Spyware Blaster (and being behind a router).

I get the error in the subject line, then the computer reboots, checks it drives, fails...
If I cancel the error checking at reboot, it will boot up. Upon scanning and cleaning and rebooting, it fails again, always giving the above error.

I followed the instructions re: "Before Asking for Support...", and I believe I am ready for help. I have a Hijack This log ready if anyone wishes to see it.

Please install and use HijackThis per the following instructions:

- Download HijackThis 1.99.1

- Unzip the hijackthis.exe file to a folder you create named C:\Program Files\HJT

- Do NOT run Hijack This from the Desktop, a temp folder, or a sub-folder of C:\Documents and Settings, or choose to run it directly from the downloaded ZIP file.

- Before running HijackThis: You must close each of the following:your web browser, e-mail client, instant messenger, and programs like notepad, wordpad, MS Word etc. And any other unnecessary running programs.

- Run HijackThis and save your log file.

- Post your log as an ATTACHMENT to your next message. (Do NOT copy/paste the log into your post).

I go onto my firewall settings and try changing it but every time i get "error 0x80070424"
I got this error multiple times while trying to find a solution.
I never had a problem with this before, so I go onto TrendMicro's website and it says to install "HouseCall", so I did.
Didn't work (kind of expected it not to) but now I get an "unresolvable threat" popup every 5 minutes.
Any one know a solution?

Really not going to look at a video. Why are you deleting system folders at a whim? They are there for a reason. Now all you can do is a Repair install. Repair Install Windows 8

After you repair Windows, please for the sake of your sanity and everyone else's. Stop removing the system folders. If you are getting short on space, move any documents, videos, photo's, to either Cloud Storage or something like the Toshiba Canvio 1TB portable hard drive.

Hello TechSupportForum,

I am pretty certain my Windows XP PC is infected with Malware.

I set up my home PC with gotomypc so I could use it while staying abroad for an extended stay. Things were working fine until several weeks ago when the computer started displaying continuous Bad Image error messages. An example of a recent message is as follows:

"Jre-6u15-windows-i586-iftw.exe - bad image. "The application or DLL C:\windows\system32\ATL.dll is not a valid windows image. Please check this against your installation diskette."

I now get such error messages on just about every program I launch. This error prevents me from running any malware scanning software. (Tried running Malwarebytes and Superantispyware--both failed to launch).

Avira antivirus has not given me any virus warnings, however, I cannot perform any scans with it since this problem started happening. It just hangs when I try running a manual scan, yet it apparently continues to run in the system tray and download virus updates.

I can only access the pc via gotomypc for now.

Is it possible to disinfect the PC by accessing solely via gotomypc?

My DDS log is as follows and ARK.txt file and Attach.txt files are in the file attached to this message.

Thanks in advance...

After another minute, the computer gives a "Computer shutdown due to thermal events" error. Does this mean I put in the wrong type of power supply? Is the fan messed up?

Answer:Power supply causing "Thermal event error"?

I am hoping that someone can help me with what may be a complex question.

I have a spreadsheet, similar to the demonstration file I have attached. In it, there are a range of columns. One set of columns (A - D), shows a list of numbers that are references to items in a store, and it also shows their location in the store, so it acts as a floor-plan. The next column (E) lists those items again to show the dollar amount that those items have produced in total sales (F).

So, what I'd like to do is to add a conditional formatting to show me the "cold" and "hot" spots on the floor-plan so I can see where sales are most concentrated. I would assume that this would be done with a colour scale (using the range of values in column F to work itself out)?

Either way, the figures in column F would change weekly, so the relevant cells in columns A - D would need to automatically change when they're matching cells in column E - F change.

I hope this makes sense, as it's difficult to explain, but any help that someone could provide would be greatly appreciated.

Answer:Outlook 2007 "Enter Network Password prompt" and wont retrieve emails

Removing and setting the account back up was the right move. Some people swore a reboot was needed after this was done.

Just to be 100% on the password, try going to a web service like and see if you can retrieve your email. At least then you're sure the email and password are working just to eliminate the obvious.

I also read that if your mail servers settings are "" for example, remove the mail.

Are you accessing the mail from multiple devices? That can cause an issue.

I belong to a large group that I send out emails to occasionally. Outlook 2007 on my Vista computer will not let me send to the whole group in one email. I have to split it into about 6 different emails to get it to go. When I was using Outlook 2000 on XP I did not have to do this. What setting can I use to force Outlook 2007 to accept all the addresses I want to enter so I just have to send my newsletter one time?

In a related question...Outlook 2007 will also hang up and not send the email to my group IF there is one email some where in the group that it does not like.
1) is there a way to force the email to go even if there is one bad address in the group and just bounce back an error message on the problem email?

2) Is there a way to make it tell me which email it has a problem with so I can manually remove it? Outlook Express will at least kick back a helpful error message and tell me what email address is causing a problem so I can just remove that name to make the email go to the rest of the people.

Thank you,

Hey all,

The basic problem I'm having is that Outlook 2007 is insisting on having two "default" PST files. It doesn't matter which PST files they are, but it insists on two of them--which results in two email inboxes, two calendars, etc. It's annoying and confusing. I've driven myself crazy looking for a fix, but nothing seems to help--I only ever manage to make things worse by screwing with accounts, files, etc. I've re-installed Office, I've tried deleting one of the files, I've tried re-creating my "mail" account with the same email address. If I add a new PST file, I can make it a default, but it just replaces one of the others--and then I'm still dealing with two total. For once, Google doesn't turn up anything--I can't find anyone who's had this same problem. The OS is Windows 7, 32-bit. The problem started when the PST file got moved around when I was switching out my office's old shared drive for a new one, if that's relevant.

I'd greatly, greatly appreciate any help. Thanks a ton in advance. Let me know if there's any information I should've given that I haven't. I can provide screen shots if that'd help anyone help me.

Answer:Outlook 2007 insists on two "default" PST files

We have a user who is trying to save an Outlook email (as a .msg), but when she tries to save, she gets the following error: "There is not enough free memory to run this program. Quit one or more programs, and then try again." Outlook is the only program she is running.

Note: The email she is having a problem saving was sent by a user outside our organization. When I had her try to save an email that I sent her from within our organization, it worked. It could it be that the sender used a different version of Outlook when creating their message...could that cause this error?

I'm trying to determine if there is a way to reset Outlook 2007 to a state where it has effectively never-EVER-not-even-ONCE been opened. The /firstrun switch is not sufficient. Removal of profiles from the mail applet in control doesn't actually make it like it's never been run either.

This is a domain environment and, when clicked the very first time, Outlook displays "Configuring Outlook Accounts" and then automatically jumps from there to requesting the user's full name and initials. No requests for settings, no "welcome", none of that.

I need Outlook to be in that state once again without having to completely re-install the OS and everything else from scratch just so Outlook has never actually been clicked on.

Is this possible? Any help is much appreciated....

WinXP Pro SP3 - Office 2007 - the owner of this PC uses both Outlook Express (OE) and Outlook for email. Why? Who knows. OE is working fine, but all incoming mail messages in Outlook are listed twice in the Inbox. Outgoing messages are sent just fine. I've never been a fan of Outlook (or OE for that matter) as it seems to be cumbersome and problematic (IMO rolleyes ). Anyway - I haven't had much success Googling this problem; I can't quite come up with the right set of serch terms.... so - why the heck are all incoming messages listed twice in the Outlook Inbox??? And how do I get it back to single listings?

Answer:Outlook 2007 - incoming emails are "doubled"

Googling 'duplicate messages in outlook' throws up quite a lot of results, though whether any will actually be of any use is ????????????
