Outlook .ics file displaying the wrong start and end times

Question: Outlook .ics file displaying the wrong start and end times

I have a .net application that sends out an email with an appointment calendar (iCalendar) file (.ics) attached to the email. With in the .ics file it contains all of the details about the appointment.

Below is the syntax of the .ics file:
PRODID:-//hacksw/handcal//NONSGML v1.0//EN
SUMMARY:test meeting subject
LOCATION:Meeting Room 305a
DESCRIPTION:test meeting details
ORGANIZER;CN="User name":MAILTO:[email protected]

As you can see in the meeting is scheduled for 07/24/2003 at 8:00 AM to 9:00 AM.

I am located in the (GMT-05:00) Eastern Time (US & Canada) time zone and the .net application server is located in the (GMT-06:00) Central Time (US & Canada) time zone. When I open the .ics file in Outlook or Lotus Notes it says the meeting starts on 7/24/2003 at 9:00 AM and ends at 10:00 AM. But that is not what I set up. It seems like outlook took the time and converted it to eastern time. I do not want this to happen. What ever day and time I set up in the .net application I want this to reflect in the .ics file. Basically I do not want Outlook or Lotus Notes to convert the time to the computers local time. I have tried to play around with the "DTSTART" and "DTEND" date to see if I could stop this from happening but no luck so far.

Basically I want to be able to do the following:
When I create a meeting within the .net application I want to start and end times to match when a user open the .ics file from there outlook or lotus notes no matter what time zone they are in. I want outlook and lotus notes to ignore the timezone for this .ics file. I would love to be able to do something within the .net application to accomplish this so I do not have to tell all of our end users to modify something on their end.

I hope this all makes since.

Thank you in advance for all of your help.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Not sure if this is a MS issue. Default zoom setting for Edge is 125% but Outlook email is suddenly really tiny in size despite Edge showing 125%. The right hand 30% of the screen is now just empty white space. If I change it to 100% and back to 125% then it corrects until I close and reopen Edge. No other tabs are affected.

Hi all,

I have got a Dell Vostro 1400 laptop that has been giving me a headache... It is more than 3 years old and came with Windows XP pre-installed. I ran Win7 (legitimate copy) on it for awhile (about 4 months) without any problems, then suddenly it would die while in Win7. Things like system shutting down by itself and freezing when displaying videos were common. Then it started showing “Memory Parity” errors. I tried swapping RAM modules but to no avail.

So I re-installed Windows XP with SP3. Installation was smooth and driver installation was in order. It ran ok for about a week before auto-shutting down again. Now it even screws up the screen during BIOS loading (when the Dell logo and progress bar shows) and when loading Windows (please see attached photo for crazy fonts/capitalisation during Windows Restore screen).

I am now running Ubuntu from it without installation (i.e. booting and running from the CD) and am encountering no problems whatsoever.

The Dell BIOS diagnostics would run while I was running Win7 and report no errors, so I’m trying to assume that there’re no hardware errors. Perhaps the photo might be telling to you experts out there.

Any help would be much appreciated! Thanks in advance!

Answer:Laptop auto-shutdown and displaying screwy/wrong fonts even during start up

Try to boot from the window 7 Disc and run the Memory Test Program from there.... If it pass.... I think may be teh build in Video card Issue.... I see similar error in Desktop... Hey guys,
Using Outlook express 6 at home, and any emails that are sent or received from it are wrong.
For example, using that email account i send one to my work account, the arrival date on the email at work will be 12hrs from now..
And an email coming into the suspect account will be 8hrs old..

There is no consistency between the time offsets, ive checked the clock and TimeZone settings on the computer, and my internet provider (internode) assures me it is not to do with their end.. Which is true because my other internode account works fine..

Ive even tried the same account on Mozilla on the same computer...

So this all leads me to think it is a particular setting somewhere on the computer in question...

Any ideas? been bugging me for months!

Answer:Outlook Express 6 - Wrong Email times?

seems that once i played with the Time Zone and clock settings again it sorted itself out...weird cause ive tried that before..

anyways - all good.

I know there is a way to create an outlook shortcut bar item from your file system as opposed to Outlook items. It does not show in my drop-down list on Outlook 98. What do I have to install or tweak.

Ken Paterson

Answer:Outlook Shortcut Bar and Displaying File system

(I think this is what you mean...)

Right-click the Outlook shortcut bar, hit Outlook bar shortcut. In the Look In dropdown, hit File System and it takes you to select from My Computer. Are you saying that File System is not in this dropdown?

(This is Outlook 2000, by the way. '98 may be the same or similar and I don't know off-hand about '97.)

I've been doing a lot of tidying up of my file types and associations, and one of the things that I have done is to ensure that all my most used file types have meaningful and accurate "friendly names". So, instead Explorer referring to .wv files as "WV File" it now says "WavPack Audio File". I've done this for numerous file types and it has all worked well and is correctly displayed in Explorer.

However, I also use Windows Libraries, and for some reason it is still using generic file descriptions, or older ones that I chose myself and subsequently updated.

I have done the usual things of clearing the icon cache and all other cache and temp storage. I've also completely rebuilt the index of the Library in question. I have even removed all folders from that library and deleted the top level library itself (then, after a reboot, recreated it by selecting 'Restore Default Libraries'), but as soon as I add my folder to the Library, the same old file names show up again.

I have done a thorough search of my Registry and some of the terms being displayed by the Library are nowhere to be found in the Registry (because I have updated every possible instance of the file type name) so it must be cached somewhere, unless its buried in some indecipherable format in the Registry that doesn't show up in search results.

If I click an incorrectly named 'file types' group in the Library, and then choose 'Open Folder Location' to look at the same files direct... Read more

Answer:Windows Explorer "Libraries" displaying wrong File Type names

This could have something to do with your user files. Are you the Administrator of this computer & do you only have one user account?.

Click on Computer & then click on your main OS drive which is normally C:\, then click Users, which should show your user name as one of the folders. Click on that & select your Documents files & see if the new names are listed there, if so you can create a New Library by clicking on Include in Library, from the menu at the top, & selecting Create New Library.

If all the Documents are correct as mentioned above you could copy all the Documents into the New library & then after checking everything is correct you can delete the old library.

If you have more that one user account, it's possible that all the changes are being made on one account & you are then trying to access them on another account, so you keep getting the old arrangement.

Hi everyone,

I haven't been to this forum in some time; it's nice to see that it's still around

As the title of the thread suggests, I'm having trouble with Times New Roman in Word. I've only tried a few other fonts, but they all seemed okay. I don't have any other software with a variety of fonts to test, but everything looks fine online.

The font looks horrible, to the point of being almost illegible. There are gaps/missing portions in letters, it requires heavy zooming just to tell the difference between a "c" and an "e" and good luck trying to see the small horizontal line in a capital "A". I'm a writer and this is killing me.

I'm running Vista Home Premium (yes, I'm poor and can't afford a new PC). The only thing I've installed recently was a VSTi (virtual MIDI instrument) called CV Piano, which was a strange install (it wanted to install a driver, but it didn't say for what, so I didn't let it), but should have been a safe install/uninstall given the reviews and manufacturer. Kaspersky Pure 3.0 detected nothing. I ran hijackthis and put the logfile through Nothing popped up. I did a System Restore, but - oddly enough - the oldest Restore Point on my PC was immediately after installation of CV Piano. I've been thinking that I've been noticing overall sluggishness of my computer, but that's probably just paranoia as a result of a different impo... Read more

Answer:Times New Roman displaying as Segoe UI

I can confirm that your document is using Segoe UI in the screenshot you showed (I tried it myself). When I opened my Office Word, I chose Times New Roman, and that's what I got. When I chose Segoe UI, I got the font that you show.

But I have no idea why yours doesn't show Times New Roman when it is set as that.

I'm baffled.

You can try deleting the Segoe UI font from the Windows font folder, but it might just change to something else (instead of what it is supposed to be: TNR).

Long story short, my computer is not displaying Times New Roman fonts. It's showing arial, except for Excel strangly. But everywhere else, browsers, word, frontpage, TNR font is not there.

At first, i went into the font folder and all the times fonts were gone. so i used the install font function and times wasn't there either. so i grabbed some files off of an xp computer and installed them. no difference. any ideas? other things are messed up too, like on craigslist, all of the fonts are small enven though zoom is normal and the font is set to medium. So i'm stumped as to what the problem could be. at firsst, all times new roman was italitcized but that problem went away after i reinstalled all of the fonts.

Vista ultimate SP2
I'll forgo all the hardware specs as I think this is clearly a software issue but will add them if needed.

Answer:Solved: Times New Roman Font not displaying properly

i just reinstalled all of the fonts and now it displays some times new roman fonts in internet explorer 8 only. they are still messed up in opera, firefox, word, frontpage.

I recently changed my favicon on my self-hosted blog. But the old favicon is still showing up as the shortcut on the desktop of my laptop computer after more than a week. The address bar and tab bar are displaying the correct favicon in IE7. I am certain the problem is associated with my laptop computer because my desktop computer, which never “saw” the old favicon, is displaying the correct favicon as a desktop shortcut. Both computers are Dell and have IE7. I have done the following in an effort to fix the problem:

Removed all links in my favorite’s folder and all shortcuts from my desktop, then performed the below four bulleted steps below.
Removed all traces of the old favicon from all folders on my computer, then performed the below four bulleted steps below.

• Cleared my cache manually through IE7 tools.
• Flushed dns with ipconfig.
• Ran CCleaner.
• Rebooted my computer

Made sure CCleaner emptied my Recycle Bin.
Made sure the site address was not protected in my CCleaner.
After the above bulleted steps I saved the links again in my favorites and as shortcut on my desktop.
Did the first step a second time, completed the four bulleted steps again, and waited 24 hours before I added them back to my favorites and my desktop.
Set automatic dns flush to every 4 hours.
Completed a search on my computer, including hidden files and folders, and the old favicon was not found.

Anyone have any ideas?

Why do my thumbnailed folders (with a folder.jpg inside of them) display random images that I never assigned to them? Is there are way to correct this behavior or is this just an XP glitch? Using Tweak UI I increased the amount of folders for XP to store in memory to 10,000 thinking that may solve the problem, but it hasn't.

It's especially frustrating since I spent many hours organizing my Music folders so that they display the correct cover art.
For example, why does my Radiohead folder, which should display an image of the band (which is in the Radiohead folder as "folder.jpg") assign an image of Cindy Lauper, which is in another folder?

On my laptop, on certain websites, the font is completely different to how I view it on every other computer/laptop. I cannot figure out what could possibly be causing this and was hoping someone here has a solution.

I have included screen shots showing the difference. I know it may sound really ocd, but it's generally worse on my eyes I find. All the main titles on websites (more than just facebook) are replaced by a horrible bold font and the general text on a lot of sites seems more narrow.

This happens on all browsers and only browsers, all other system fonts are correct.

Things I have tried so far but did not fix the problem
- connected laptop to another monitor and applied the max resolution of 1080p (my laptop screen is 1366x768, gpu supports 1080 tho)
- Gone into my internet options from the control panel and tried changing the font (and crossed checked it with other computers)
-Checked chrome's font settings and cross checked with other computers

The problem as been present ever since I got the laptop, its just really started to bug me recently.

Any help is appreciated, thanks

Hi! I'm using Win7 in portuguese (pt-PT) and the calculator has some some keys with strange symbols in them. So, instead of the backspace arrow, there's a rectangle, and the "x" was replaced by a square. In scientific mode it's even worse.

I bought this computer a year ago and it came with Windows 8, which I upgraded to 8.1 and then 10. Today, I formatted my hard drive and installed Windows 7. This has caused some issues, such as with drivers.

Chrome is not displaying pages as it used to. Text is poorly aligned, often the wrong font, and there are these boxes appearing:

Here is how it displays in IE:

I have already checked encoding and it was using Windows1252 and I changed it to Unicode and nothing changed.
It's not a driver issue either as I already updated drivers and everything works fine in IE.

I'm having a weird issue with how a certain website is displaying in my browser. The font is all messed up, and I have no idea if it's an issue with my browser (Firefox), or my OS (Windows 7 32bit).

The site is buzzfeed. It displays fine in my other browsers, but in Firefox, one of the fonts is constantly displaying incorrectly - it looks like the wrong font is being used (it's using rockfont for some reason - which is on my system as a requirement for a pinball game I play).

Here's how it looks usually in Firefox:

And here's how it looked after I uninstalled the rockfont font:

And then just a few minutes later, it looked like this (while rockfont was still uninstalled):

Any idea what's going on with my fonts, and why it only happens on this one site, and only in Firefox? I'm using the latest version of Firefox, but this has been happening for months. After I re-installed rockfont, the page then went back to using that as a font, as in the top image.

I have Outlook 2010 and Windows 8.1.  When attempting to open e-mail in Outlook 2010 or documents in Word I get the following error:
"Outlook could not create the work file.  Check the temp environment variable."
I've read several Microsoft KB articles and several forums on this issue.  According to these articles, This problem occurs when the Cache string value in the registry doesn't point to a valid directory.  The solution provided is to:
Locate and then click the following subkey:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders
Right-click the Cache key, and then click Modify.  Then modify the sting value to:  %USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\INetCache
When performing this step, the cache value was already set to the value above.  I attempted to overwrite by typing the same value for the string, but that did not solve the problem.  I attempted to change it to a different value, save it, and then
modify it to the correct value and save it, but that did not solve the problem.  I also attempted to go in to the INetCache folder under Users\"user"l\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\INetCache, rename it, recreate a new folder and copy all subfolders
into it, and that did not solve the problem.
I am out of things to try from the user forums I have researched.  Appreciate any insight anyone might have on how I can solve this problem.

Hi all,

I am hoping someone can give me advice on the following error message which spontaneously started appearing in Outlook (2007):

"Cannot start Microsoft Outlook. Cannot open the Outlook window. The set of folders cannot be opened. Errors have been detected in the file xyz.pst. Quit Outlook and all mail-related applications, and then use the Inbox repair tool (Scanpst.exe" to diagnose and repair errors in the file. For more information about the Inbox repair tool see Help".

Is the "Scanpst.exe" file already installed on my system with Outlook? If not please post a url where it can be downloaded for Win7 64 bit Ultimate. I have read a few forums pointing to errors with xml files used for the Navigation Pane. Could that perhaps be the issue here or is the Scanpst.exe route the only way to fix it?

Any advice will be much appreciated

Answer:Cannot start Microsoft Outlook due to errors in pst file

Browse to C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office13\Scanpst.exe.
Another window opens up, Click the Browse button go to Libraries/Documents/Outlook and select the .pst file

Could be infection-related, an install of uninstall gonewrong, or a corruption of another sort.

Answer:Yet another "Wrong version of dll file" on start up of Computer.

Please print out or copy this page to Notepad. Make sure to work through the fixes in the exact order it is mentioned below. If there's anything that you don't understand, ask your question(s) before proceeding with the fixes. You should not have any open browsers when you are following the procedures below.

Go to My Computer->Tools/View->Folder Options->View tab and make sure that 'Show hidden files and folders' (or 'Show all files') is enabled. Also make sure that Display the contents of System Folders' is checked. Windows XP's search feature is a little different. When you click on 'All files and folders' on the left pane, click on the 'More advanced options' at the bottom. Make sure that Search system folders, Search hidden files and folders, and Search subfolders are checked.

For the options that you checked/enabled earlier, you may uncheck them after your log is clean. If we ask you to fix a program that you use or want to keep, please post back saying that (we don't know every program that exists, so we may tell you to delete a program that we think is bad to keep).

Turn off system restore by right clicking on My Computer and go to Properties->System Restore and check the box for Turn off System Restore. Click Apply and then OK. Restart your computer. After we are finished with your log file and verified that it's clean, you may turn it back on and create a new restore point.

We've had 3 monitors for our PC now (all the same model, a GNR TS700) and on all three, the colour has gone wrong. The first and third time, the screen developed a green hue to everything. I think I've figured out that anything black has turned green (the Windows XP loading screen is green, as are the startup screens, and any dark patches on images have a green overtone). The second time the same thing happened, except everything turned a pinky-purple colour.

Am I right in thinking this model of monitor may have a chronic problem with the colour tube (or whatever it is that LCD monitors use)? I know it's not the graphics card, A) because I swapped the graphics card for a test one and there was no difference, and B) each time we've had it replaced, the monitor has been fine to begin with. This also rules out the cables because we've kept the same cables throughout.

So what is it likely to be - a bad batch of monitors, or is my computer doing something to the monitor that it shouldn't be? Thanks in advance for any help.

Answer:3 monitors, 3 times the colour goes wrong!

I have been having issues with my computers running ability. As I am typing this each letter freezes before the next one comes. Also I cannot watch any video without it freezing, cutting and pausing all throughout the video (whether this be on youtube or media player). i.e. a person would be frozen on "IIIIIII" every couple of seconds throughout the video.

I asked people who believed it was spyware so I have reformatted my computer twice since then because after a few weeks it got really bad again. Every time after I reformat it works well for a few weeks then gets bad, as it is now.

Also often programs can't run together without freezing one another. I have no clue what the problem is, Any help would be sooooo well appreciated! Thank you. My computer is a Toshiba - satellite and I have been using the CD the computer comes with to reformat it each time.

I just reinstalled Windows 7 and initially all seemed well. When I was connected to the Internet, Windows installed 3 updates and prompted me to restart. When Windows appeared again, it was much smaller on screen surrounded by black. There was just a blue background with a windows logo. No start menu, taskbar, nothing! I managed to right click the screen and change the resolution so that the background now fills the screen. Internet Explorer no longer seems to exist. I have tried control ,alt, delete to get the task manager to type explorer.exe but it doesn't work, it just blacks out the screen. I am now on my third install. After the last install, everything looked great but again Windows asked for a reboot as it had found updates. It would appear to be these Windows updates that are causing the problem.........I can't seem to find a restart to boot into safe mode.
I am installing from a genuine Windows 7 Professional DVD, which has always worked in the past......please help.
It's not like I won't help myself, after three installs, I just need you clever people to impart your knowledge......

I have tried to do a system recovery and everything goes fine until the last step and it goes to that blue screen with the same by me getting that bios password wrong three times did there a way to fix this or am I going to have to buy a new hard drive? I thought it would just wipe it, but if that was the case me installing new OS would have fixed it correct?

Answer:Bios Password Wrong 3 Times, Now Blue Screen

Post manufacturer & model of computer. Is this a desktop or a laptop?

If it's a desktop, post manfacturer and model of Power Supply.
Also post temps and voltages as reported in BIOS.

It may be a Power Supply problem. (Less likely) your CMOS battery could also be low. Did you clear the CMOS before running the New Install?

How did you run the New Install; from a DVD or from a partition off the Hard Drive?

I have a question that I can't find the answer for, I've been searching like crazy but keep finding the same responses which have in my case proven useless.
The situation is this: I have one router and one computer, the computer has two network interface cards which are both connected to the router and given IP addresses. I have made the metrics in Windows such that normal traffic SHOULD always choose NIC 1 and I have in the application "Tixati" set it manually to use NIC 2. I have then set my firewall to only allow the application "Tixati" to use NIC 2 while blocking it from using NIC 1. So in theory everything on my computer should use NIC 1 except "Tixati" which should use NIC 2.
The problem: The issue is that for some reason Windows will sometimes think it's a good idea to just straight up switch over to using NIC 2 for ALL traffic, even though it has a waaaay higher metric (static permanent routes) and the firewall is blocking access for the applications on that interface, which results in the applications being straight up blocked. This is temporarily solved by disabling and enabling NIC 1... Until it happens again.
The cause: I just straight up don't know, I do however think it has something to do with Windows probably trying to use a different NIC at the slightest hint of an issue with the main NIC, it often happens during web browsing and I even found one specific website that seemingly caused this issue every time I reloaded... Answer:Windows uses wrong NIC in a dual NIC setup, Ignores metric at times.

You have to specify which one is the one to use the connection. If both are hooked up at the same time. Windows 10 will try and Load Balance or Bridge the connection, depending on how it wants to behave at that moment.

You do not need both hooked up to the router. You only need one.

Hi alto, and welcome to TSG.

The problem could be with the monitor or the video controller.

If you need more specific help, then please provide more specific details (brand and model number, analog or digital video connection, etc.) about both. Knowing the operating system and if the monitor ever worked in this particular setup may also be of use.

Hi all,

I'm seeing the following issue on Windows 10 Enterprise 1607. As you can see from the screen shot the "System" menu in the Settings App is being displayed wrongly. The 2nd screen shot shows a correct menu:

We're not seeing this on every single build so it's been quite difficult to pin point the cause. We are applying the en-GB language pack during the build process but if I revert back to en-US (the default WIM used) the menu goes back to normal.

Our build has been working absolutely fine until the last couple of weeks and I'm trying to work out whether something in the October 2017 patch release could have caused this. I can't find much online around this problem, has anyone else seen it?

This is an issue I have on my work computer and the support team in the office are all baffled by it. I'm not seeing the presence icons (to show online/offline status etc.) in Outlook or Sharepoint. I've been informed that this is something that would need to be fixed in Outlook first and would then flow through into Sharepoint. It works on other people's machines in the office so it's a mystery why it doesn't work on mine. Below is what I'm running and what's been tried already, with no success.

Running Windows XP Professional, with Outlook 2007 (with MS Exchange Server), IE8, Office Communicator 2007 R2 and Sharepoint 2007

What's been tried
Reinstallation of Office Communicator
Repaired Office 2007 installation (which recreated Name.dll)
Checked the Person Names options in Outlook under Tools -> Options -> Other
Tried altering both the following registry settings to either 1 or 3:
REG_DWORD HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\11.0\Common\PersonaMenu\RTCApplication=3
REG_DWORD HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\12.0\Common\PersonaMenu\RTCApplication=3

Thanks for any suggestions to solving this conundrum!

I've searched but I haven't found anyone having the same Outlook/jpeg problem as mine.

Using Outlook 2003 and Word as my email editor, when I insert a picture file, I get an empty box (lines around it and blank in the middle, NO red X). Displaying jpegs used to work and the problem first showed up by not displaying my signature jpeg. Next I noticed it would not display any jpegs. I use SnagIt a lot in my work and so displaying pictures is important.

I was able to narrow down that "something" happened on a Friday morning between 09:00a and 10:00a by looking at sent emails and seeing where the signature stopped showing the jpeg but I never could track down what the "something" was. I've tried all the "fixes" I can find but no success.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Hi I have a desktop PC running XP SP3. Virgin broadband connected directly to PC via ethernet cable which is not displaying web pages in either IE or Firefox. I open Outlook I cannot retrieve any new mail and I cannot read my previous emails. The content of the message's are missing.

I have opened a command prompt and IPCONFIG and it is showing that I am connected to the internet, but still no page will display. I also have an icon in the taskbar which shows connection.

I had been using the PC and everything was fine. Then my daughter used it and since then I cannot get a page displayed. I asked her what she had done and she tells me that she was using it as normal and turned it off. If she has done anything different she's not admitting it!

I have tried a few times using system restore to get back to when the PC worked fine but that's not working. I know the internet is working as I have connected a laptop which is working fine, as I am using it now :).

I have a firewall running which I stopped and tried to connect again to IE,FF and outlook but still the same thing was happening, so it's not my firewall.

I would appreciate a point in the right direction to get this sorted. I have several emails which contain information I need but cannot access.

ps. I also downloaded the latest versions of IE and Firefox to the laptop and using a flashdrive transferred and installed them on the PC, still no joy.

Answer:IE, FF and Outlook not displaying pages/email

For future referance if anyone has similar problems.

It was Windows messenger, MSN and it's componants which were causing the problems. I'm not sure exactly which one but one of the Live messenger apps. I uninstalled all of them, Live search, Live mail, MSN and others and now I can connect to all websites again.

It would be interesting if someone could explain why something in the MSN live would prevent me from connecting to the net and reading my emails. It will help others with similar issues.

Hi guys,
I know you're probably sick of me and my issues by now (yes I have very many), but there's one thing I've never seen before. I just like two seconds ago, subscribed to Eset's threat blog on their RSS feed. When I clicked on the newest one added to the pile, and clicked Read more in the email message, I got a message saying "This operation has been canceled due to restrictions placed on this computer. Contact your system administrator for more information." Seeing that I am the administrator of my own computer, I'm contacting you guys to see if there is anything I can do to get rid of the error and let me see the full articles. What did I do wrong? I have no group policy setting in effect that could potentially be the cause of this, nor do I have any restriction software on this computer. Any help is appreciated. Thanks. For don't you agree that viewing the RSS feed through Outlook is a bit easier than navigating to the web site all the time?

Was wondering if anyone else has run across this problem. The environment is a simple peer-to-peer network. My workstation is win2k pro. I share my contacts with my secretary and she in on the network and her workstation in running win2k. We both have OUTLOOK 2000, the last version I believe that allows calender and contact sharing and synch'ing.
Anyway what happens is if I am looking for a contact that say starts with 'W' and I go and click 'W', sometimes they will not all show up but I know it's in my contacts file. So what I do is do a find and then it shows up.
I am looking on the msn support site...Just wondering if anyone has had this problem before.

Answer:Outlook 2000 - Some contacts not displaying

I'll presume you are using "delegates" to share contacts.

Items marked "private" will not show up unless the adequate permissions have been granted to the delegate.

Another way this problem mainfests itself comes from using "views." For instance, if you are looking at a telephone list type view of your contacts then contacts that don't have a telephone number entered will not show up. However, if you search for them <CTRL + ALT + F> then you can use find to make visible contacts that are excluded from a particular "view."

Good luck

These issues started about a week ago, and a reboot temporarily solves it (which isn't convenient for me).

When I open Windows Explorer, everything shows fine. Then when I open it again a short while later, the main part of the windows is empty and the side bar only shows the Favorites, Libraries and (I think it's) Network (though it may be Homegroup, can't remember), and I can't expand any of those three to show their contents (so basically I can't browse my drives, my documents, anything). If I kill explorer.exe with task manager and then re-start the process, when I click on the Windows Explorer icon on my taskbar or any explorer link in the start menu, it'll pop up with a box about remote process call failed.

The odd think is (or, at least, I think it's odd) is that I can still access stuff, such as opening the Save As dialogue in MS Word, or a program such as iTunes or uTorrent, I can open an explorer window (iTunes showed album contents folder but didn't want to load the side bar fully, uTorrent-instigated folder openings display a bit more).

With peripherals, the latest firmware update to my Android HTC device featured HTC changing the identity from mass storage like a flash drive to an MTP device (meaning I can access files simultaneously on the phone and PC), which often seems to annoy explorer as it doesn't appear to allow me to do two file operations at once. Also, I resurrected my Windows Phone 7 handset, which when trying to sync with Zune it gets to a certain... Read more

The start button was working until there was a forced reboot (power failure). Then left click (normal click) over the start button does absolutely nothing. Right click brings up a menu but "programs" and also "settings" are missing and not included on this list. Search or Task View buttons do not work either with "normal" click. Does anyone have any suggestion or fixes?
Thank you in advance

Answer:Start Button displaying but not working

Try doing what I said in this thread, if that doesn't work, you will probably need to do a in-place reinstall:

Outlook 2013 was displaying images perfectly. I changed nothing but suddenly no images will display. Looking at Microsoft site it says
Click the File tab.>Click Options. >Click Trust Center. >Under Microsoft Outlook Trust Center, click Trust Center Settings. >
Clear the Don't download pictures automatically in HTML e-mail messages or RSS items check box.
Checked and that is how mine is See screenshot.
Any ideas?

I have gone back to using MS Outlook 2003 as it has a better recognising spam than my own email program (which needs to be trained first).I've now got my own business signature (text and jpeg graphic) which all displays perfectly when the signature is used on a reply email, but only the logo graphic displays on a new email. The rest of the test is very faint and in a pale yellow colour.Any suggestions on what this is, and how to change it.Many thanks in advance.Matt

I am running outlook 2000 on windows 98. One of the machines has started begun only displaying the first half of the message, then creating some symbols and leaving the rest of the mail blank. It only does this for larger e-mails. However if i open that same mail box from another machine it displays fine, so the problem must be to do with the decoding.

I have removed office completely and reinstalled it, however the problem is still there. I have been told the company had the problem before and it was an easy fix, but not related to outlook, however nobody can remember what it was.

It anyone can suggest anything, or anywhere to go then please do as i don't know what else to try now???

I have a new computer running Windows 8.1 (64 bit, version 6.3 Build 9600) that I recently installed Office 2013 Professional Plus. Install went fine and I proceeded to setup an email account in Outlook that accesses a POP account. Setup of the account went fine and mail was flowing in and out just fine.

A week later, I am now getting an error message when Outlook goes to check mail - the error being 0x8004210a.

Here is what I have checked so far but been unable to get Outlook working correctly.

1. Went to website and logged into mail using ISP webmail to verify all is working and that was successful.
2. Checked and rechecked settings for the mail account and all settings are correct
3. Did a repair of the Office package through Control Panel - Programs and Features which successfully completed.
4. Ran full scan with Malwarebytes and came up clean.
5. Ran full scan with McAfee LiveSafe - Internet Security (installed antivirus software) and came up clean.

An iPhone and iPad setup to access this same mail account have no issues receiving and sending mail so it is specific to this new desktop machine.

Here are some other things I have tried and noted. When opening Outlook and then looking over the settings for the mail account, when I click on the Check Connectivity button to see if the settings are OK, it will time out and fail. At this point, I seem to have DNS problems as opening IE or FireFox and trying to visit any site takes forever for the page to resolve and di... Read more

Answer:Outlook 2013 is displaying 0x8004210a error

Just wanted to post a quick note saying that I played around with McAfee and disabled the Anti-Spam module and tried running Outlook and everything seemed to work fine. So, I turned the Anti-Spam back on and things still seem to be running OK. Not sure why it worked fine for a week and then had this hiccup but all seems fine now.

Maybe all the stars and planets are in alignment now. Hopefully it is solved and we have no more issues.

I'm using outlook 2003 and for some reason when i compose emails and enter an email address in the To: it was displaying like auto complete results. Such as lets say i have 10 contacts with the email address [email protected]*&*&((&
Where "XXX" is a different number. And so i type in:
[email protected]*&*&((&
And it doesn't show that email. But when i type in
[email protected]*&*&((&
it works and then when i type in:
[email protected]*&*&((& it doesn't work.
I've sent at least 5+ emails to the emails that i'm having trouble and they have replied back as well. But it continues to still not show up in the auto complete results for certain email addresses.
On my other laptop however, it works just fine. I'm using a dell and my old one was a sony vaio. Any ideas on what the issue could be? Auto complete is enabled in the email options. Any help would be very much appreciated. Thanks!

I have created a customized outlook form with a text box in it. Whenever I, or another individual, create a form it is not visible to the people that we send it to. But, the form is visible to he and I. The people we send forms to only get the standard email message with no user defined items. I have put a check in the box to make the form a one-off, but it is still not visible on the reipeients computer. The same users that are unable to see my forms are able to create forms and send them to each other, and myself, as a one-off and they are fully visible. Also, some of the older forms that were created using outlook 2000 were intially only showing up as the default email message format until one random older form was opened. After that form was opened, all the older forms were able to be displayed properly but that started the problem with the newly created one's showing up as the default message format. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling outlook but that did not solve the problem. Publishing the form to the exchange server is not an option. We have to send the form's as a one-off. ALL of the computers are configured with the same versions of Windows XP SP2 and Office 2003 SP2.
NOTE: I also noted that when I try to create the form on my Windows 2000/Office 2000 SR-1 computer I get the same results.
Any clues what I can do to get the one-off forms to display properly?

In Outlook 2013 under "People" when I search for virtually any name it will come up with a duplicate.  When I open the first listing it says "In Folder Contacts" which is the only contact folder I have.  When I open the second listing is says "In Folder Duplicate Contacts".  I don't see a folder named "Duplicate Contacts".
During my research I found the steps to disable the search from looking in nickname cache:
This hasn't fixed the problem.
I've also rolled back to Outlook 2010 and the problem continues.
We are running an exchange server.  I have tried disabling add-ons.  I have tried deleting the data file and re-syncing.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

When an internal email comes in with an embedded image, it displays the dreaded red x. I have scoured the internet. All I could really find was to delete the reg key HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Office\10.0\Outlook\Security and the key name OutlookSecureTempFolder. I tried this on my laptop to no avail. We are running XP on clients in a Server 2003 environment. Our users access Outlook XP via TS servers running Server 2000. When in Outlook, I tried Tools, Options, Security, Settings, but it prompts for a digital ID, which we do not have. It's weird because I get a couple newletters from outside the network and they come through fine. I thought maybe Outlook settings could be tied in with IE settings? I've looked around at them but haven't found anything that jumps out at me, or I could be missing it. Thanks in advance.

Answer:Solved: Outlook XP not displaying embedded images

Well, I deleted all files from 3 folders related to the Outlook secure temp folder for one of our network users on the TS server. After this he could see the embedded image as soon as he opened the email. Now for the rest of the users...whew this is gonna take a while.

Im running Windows XP with every update installed and using IE6 as well. Suddenly, out of no where, outlook express no longer is able to display the body of the message. I can see all my email, subject and sender, but nothing in the body. This is the same for Sent Mail, Old, New, Deleted. I can even compose and send mail out just fine, but when i try to read it from "Sent Mail" nothing is displayed. So i even tried to just save an email as a file. Then i open the file with notepad and i can see it, but when i try to view it with outlook express, nada. Another thing is when i run my mouse cursor over the area where the body of the message is supposed to be, the pointer turns in a waiting hourglass.
