Solved: Excel outlook calendar reminder

Question: Solved: Excel outlook calendar reminder

For some reason there is a problem with this programme I have built (with help from Computerman) now I have transferred it to another excel file.

When I try to set a Callback Reminder (my terminology), once I have entered the details an error comes up for some reason. The programme has been tried and tested by itself and worked brilliantly but for some reason it doesn't now.

My PC uses Windows XP and I am using Outlook 2007. In the Calendar Section, I have recently got a "Reminder" which wont be dismissed.

When I DO click Dismiss, I get a message: Cannot turn off the reminder. You may be reminded again. Cannot locate recurrence information for this appointment.

It was an entry to do some extra cover at work that I did for some time, but I deleted a while ago, but don't understand why if the calendar entry has been deleted that the reminder has not!?!

I also sync with an iPhone which of course mirrors the calendar and I suppose at some point the iPhone HAD the calendar entry when the PC did not, but after the sync it should have been deleted to match the PC.

Is there any way I can I get rid of this reminder?

Answer:Solved: Outlook 2007 Calendar appointment Reminder

Hello Anewor,

Please try the following:

1. Select "Calendar" so that you are viewing the calendar
2. Near "File" at the top of the window click "View" -> "Current View" -> "All Appointments"
3. Locate the appointment that keeps generating the reminder and delete it. Outlook will promp several errors, but just click through them and the appointment should be deleted now.
4. Restart Outlook.

Hopefully this helps.

Hi folks,
I need a little help how to have reminder date from Excel xls into Outlook calendar.
It might be simple but our office IT guys couldn’t figure out so I need some help... I created a sample xls file with proper columns – attached. I am not a programmer so I am trying to figure out how to have automatic reminders 3 days before the “Start Date” which will be different for each item and there will be thousands of items on this list.

I appreciate your help.
Thanks

PS I forgot to attach my xls and do not see a way to edit and attached so I may have to attach it in a reply...

Hi All,

I use MS Office Outlook 2007 calendar to remind me about routine things like backups, data saves, periodic tax payments etc.

Recently I have noticed that I sometimes don't get reminded about these events. When I realise that this has happened, I open the item in Outlook and find that the "Reminder" field has changed from "0 minutes" (which would give me a reminder at the time the event was set for) to "none" (which gives me no reminder at all).

Can anyone suggest why this might be happening, and how to cure it?

Thanks,

scandalxk

Answer:MS Outlook 2007 Calendar losing reminder settings

Hello scandalxk.

Have you a System Restore Point that you can return to PRIOR to this glitch occurring?

Did you check in Event viewer?

Quote:
Type eventvwr in search and go to the windows log>application tab.
Look for errors that have red in the left hand column relating to the CURRENT Outlook Calendar problem.
When you find any make a screenshot and upload them to us.

What information appears in event logs (Event Viewer)?

Hey guys, I am quite new to creating macros. I do have some primitive experience with code. My goal is to take 3 or 4 colums of information and put them into Outlook Calendar.

A- Discription B- Start -C Finish

So, in the Calendar in outlook it would show a discription and connect the dates in B and C to the days in the Calendar. I don't know if it can be done. At my current state I can't figure out how to get even one to move over. Any suggestions on where to start??

I am running Outlook and Excel 2003 all updated. On Windows XP Pro Service Pack 2.

In Outlook 2007 Calendar, the default reminder time is 15 minutes. That is, Outlook will remind you of each appointment 15 minutes in advance.

In Tools\Options..., I've tried to set the default reminder time to a shorter interval. But no matter what I set it to--10 minutes, 12 minutes, 5 minutes--Outlook keeps reminding me of each appointment 15 minutes in advance.

In Tools\Options..., there's a checkbox called "Default Reminder:" Whether I check it or leave it unchecked has no effect on the reminder time either--Outlook keeps reminding me of each appointment 15 minutes in advance.

Any ideas what could be happening here?

Hi,

We have a spreadsheet that keeps track of when our computer warranties expire. Would like to run a macro using the warranty expired date to create an appointment in Outlook. That part I understand. The problem is that when I go to run the macro again, it creates a duplicate appointment if the appointment already existed. Very frustrating!

This is the code below, any help would be appreciated!!!! Thanks
Sub AddToOutlook()
Dim o As Outlook.Application
Dim ai As Outlook.AppointmentItem
Dim r&, sSubject$, sBody$, dStartTime As Date, dDuration#

For r = 4 To 10

sSubject = Sheet1.Cells(r, 1).Value
sBody = Sheet1.Cells(r, 4).Value
dStartTime = Sheet1.Cells(r, 3).Value
dDuration = 30
Set o = GetObject(, "Outlook.Application")
Set ai = o.CreateItem(olAppointmentItem)
ai.Body = "Service Tag= " & sBody
ai.Subject = "Warranty Expires for Server " & sSubject
ai.Start = dStartTime
ai.Duration = dDuration
ai.Close olSave

Next r
End Sub

Hi,

I need help with a macro. So far the macro is operating as it should , creating MS Outlook 2010 calendar appointments using data from an excel data spreadsheet (data base). The issue I’m having is that every time the macro is run for a new entry, duplicate calendar appointments are created for the already existing data in the data base. I would like to have the macro do a search to ensure an appointment does not exist before creating one. I have read a few threads with similar problems but have had major issues incorporating the solutions to resolve the issue I’m having.

I have attached the macro in txt. format for reference.

Thanks for your help.

Answer:Solved: Excel macro updating Outlook calendar is creating duplicate appointments.

Hi
You can use this function to check if an appointment exists based on the Start Day/Time

Code:

Public Function CheckAppointment(ByVal argCheckDate As Date) As Boolean

Dim oApp As Outlook.Application
Dim oNameSpace As Outlook.Namespace
Dim oApptItem As Outlook.AppointmentItem
Dim oFolder As Outlook.MAPIFolder
Dim oMeetingoApptItem As Outlook.MeetingItem
Dim oObject As Object

On Error Resume Next
' check if Outlook is running
Set oApp = GetObject("Outlook.Application")
If Err <> 0 Then
'if not running, start it
Set oApp = CreateObject("Outlook.Application")
End If

Set oNameSpace = oApp.GetNamespace("MAPI")
Set oFolder = oNameSpace.GetDefaultFolder(olFolderCalendar)

CheckAppointment = False
For Each oObject In oFolder.Items
If oObject.Class = olAppointment Then
Set oApptItem = oObject
If oApptItem.Start = argCheckDate Then
CheckAppointment = True
End If
End If
Next oObject

Set oApp = Nothing
Set oNameSpace = Nothing
Set oApptItem = Nothing
Set oFolder = Nothing
Set oObject = Nothing

End Function

For this to work you need to have Tools/References/Microsoft Outlook xx Object Library enabled.
Then alter your macro like this

Code:

Private Sub cmdOutApt_Click()
' Create the Outlook session
Set myOutlook = CreateObject("Outlook.Application")
' Start at row 2
r = 2
Do Until Trim(Cells(r, 1).Value) = "&q... Read more

Hi, this is my first post here and I will preface this by saying I am not familiar with VBA/VBScript language at all (only that it exists and perplexes me), which is why I'm requesting your help!
I have an Excel spreadsheet that I'd like to have send me an Outlook email reminder 6 months after the specified start date, without having to open the Excel file so the macro can run. The reminder email can be simple, just a short message like "Referral Alert: Check Spreadsheet"

I've attached a test file with the columns needed highlighted in yellow.

If this is too tall of an order, I understand!

Answer:Send Outlook reminder on specified dates from Excel

As far as I know, this is impossible in the given scenario. Macros only run once a file is loaded; therefore, not having the file loaded means any code won't execute.

I have name in column A, details in column B, emails address in column C, status in column i, and reminder in column k
Somethng else i would like to do later on, if at all possible,is to get a particluar email from outlook be transfered to excel and and then emailed to specific people based on a status column. So if an email is recieved to say a project is extended or cancelled,, it contents is copied to excel and emailed back out to certain people.

Hi Everyone!

This is my first post here. I need your help in developing a mechanism to send an automated outlook mail, when the due date of a payment is 10 days away from the current date. The script should preferably run automatically every time the PC is running. without the excel file necessarily open.

In the attached excel file, An email should go of to -email address (Col. Q), with subject "Vendor Payment (Col. C) is due on Due date(Col. M)", and body "Dear Name(Col. P), please update the payment status".

Also, the script should put a check mark on Reminder sent column (Col. Q) after the mail is sent, the script should also check if the value of the cell is blank before sending email.

I have scored the forum for similar problems, and although I found a number of threads, I am not proficient enough in VBA to modify them to my needs.

I'd really appreciate any help,

Hi, welcome to the forum:
Code:

Option Explicit

Sub SendUpdate()
Call MailData("subject string", "status file updated", "[email protected]")
End Sub

Function MailData(mSubject As String, mMessage As String, Sendto As String, Optional CCto As String)
Dim eSubject As String, EBody As String
Dim app As Object, Itm As Variant
Set app = CreateObject("Outlook.Application")
Set Itm = app.CreateItem(0)
With Itm
.Subject = mSubject
.to = Sendto
If Not IsMissing(CCto) Then .CC = CCto
.Body = mMessage
.Save ' This property is used when you want to saves mail to the Concept folder
' .Display ' This property is used when you want to display before sending
' .Send ' This property is used if you want to send without verification
' .Attachments.Add (Filename) ' Must be complete path'and filename if you require an attachment to be included
End With
Set app = Nothing
Set Itm = Nothing
End Function

You will of course have to add your macro to send the mail and then enter a true or false in the sent column

I need a way to create a calendar that is able to perform recurring events that happen like.. The first two Mondays of the month, Once every quarter, Daily, etc.

The trick is that if the event falls on a holiday, it needs to be moved to the same day of the following week. However, this would happen only for some events.

Should I attempt to create this in Excel or Outlook?

Hi,

I've been trying to put together a macro in excel that will loop through my Outlook Calendar to see if an appointment already exists, and if it doesn't exist, to create it.

The Macro works to create a new appointment. The problem arises when I try to loop through my calendar. If anyone has any insight as to what I should do, or how to fix my problem, I'd really appreciate it. Thank you very much.

Answer:Excel VB to Loop Outlook Calendar

Well, I would think - and highly recommend - you NOT loop through your entire calendar. I would say try to think of some other criteria you can use. Can you explain the project you're trying to do here? What would be the criteria for finding an appointment? Can't you just look on the day you're referring to? Or how about a specific date range? Looping like that will probably make your machine smoke.

Edit: And btw, you're not looping, you're using multiple/nested If/Then statements. Much better than a loop if you have a specific number of conditions to check for, but loops should be avoided when they can be.

This may be an alternative...I don't have Outlook, so I couldn't test this. You can assign due dates to tasks, so this may work for you- hope this helps.

This is from Microsoft Help-

Create an Outlook task for a workbook

These steps allow you to create a task for yourself. If you want to e-mail a task to someone else, use Microsoft Outlook rather than Microsoft Excel. For more information, see Outlook Help.

Open the workbook for which you want to add the task.

On the Reviewing toolbar (toolbar: A bar with buttons and options that you use to carry out commands. To display a toolbar, click Customize on the Tools menu, and then click the Toolbars tab.), click Create Microsoft Outlook Task .

On the Task tab, enter the subject, dates, status, priority, and reminder for the task.

For more information about task options, see Outlook Help.

Click Save and Close .

Note Once you create the task, you can open it in Outlook. For more information, see Outlook Help.

Hi, I am trying to make an excel file link to an Outlook Calendar. Basically I have three columns: Subject, Date, Body, Contact. Ideally I would like to make an appointment for every row. The subject would be the subject of the appointment, the date is when the reminder would go off, the body will read the same thing every time "This proposal was submitted 60 days ago," and the contact is the person who should receive the reminder. Just like how you invite people to an event or meeting in Outlook. This list will be actively added to, so I have included a button to run the macro to update the calendar. Unfortunately I have only have gotten Outlook to pop up and then it runs into errors when trying to create the appointment. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I am running in Excel 2010, and have a bit of experience in VBA but have never done something quite like this. Thanks!

Yes I am another user whom wishes they had the time to learn basic programming but life keeps getting in the way.
I would like to export info from an excel roster workbook and automatically create appointments in outlook calendar.
From reading previous posts, this looks achievable through the use of a macro.
THE CHALLENGE:
Create appointments in outlook from the attached roster- Row 29 (M.Willis) for the appropriate dates and shift start and finish times.
A description in the subject line such as 'F shift' followed by '06:00 - 17:00' would be great.
Pls feel free to flame me if this is a ridiculous ask. But after the abuse perhaps you could point me in the right direction on what it is I need to learn.

"Pls feel free to flame me"

OK. You're an idiot.

Just kidding. "From reading previous posts, this looks achievable through the use of a macro". A link to those would've been handy.

I know zero about Outlook. Never use it. But if I run this code it does create a test appt -- provided I set a reference to the Outlook Object Library in Excel's VBE beforehand. I believe that way is known as "Early Binding", whereas having the code itself set the reference would be "Late Binding".

So it's possibly just a matter of incorporating your appt(s) details (where on the worksheet to get e.g. "Start" and "End" from).

Welcome to the board.

I'm trying to create a calendar appointment that would re occur every last Monday of the month. I can't find a way of doing it, but a mate of mine say's it's possible in Mac Mail

Does anyone know a way of doing this in Outlook 2007 please?

Thanks

Answer:Solved: Outlook reminder

Go to your calendar. Open a new appointment on the last Monday of this month and enter the information. Click on "recurrence". Set the recurrence pattern to weekly, every Monday, at 4 week intervals. Save.

This should do it.

Hello There,

I have followed this thread to create a script in order to sent the dates from a excel sheet to Outlook.

Since on the excel file that I am saving the data will have many changes, I don't want each time all the instances to be copied to outlook. Because this ends up with many repeats of the same tasks.
For example I want the script to check if the data with this Subject is on my calendar and then to compare the date in order to change it or not.

And as secondary I want to join 2 cells as the subject.

This is the code that I use:
Code:
Sub ExportTasksToOutlook()
Dim olApp As Outlook.Application
Dim blnCreated As Boolean
Dim arrTasks() As Variant, i As Long
arrTasks = Range("A2", Cells(Rows.Count, "B").End(xlUp)).Value
On Error Resume Next
Set olApp = GetObject(, "Outlook.Application")
If olApp Is Nothing Then
Set olApp = CreateObject("Outlook.Application")
blnCreated = True
Err.Clear
Else
blnCreated = False
End If
On Error GoTo 0
For i = LBound(arrTasks) To UBound(arrTasks)
With olApp.CreateItem(olTaskItem)
.DueDate = arrTasks(i, 1)
.Subject = arrTasks(i, 2)
.Body = "Created By Michalis Papadopoulos Excel Tool"
.ReminderSet = True
.ReminderTime = arrTasks(i, 1) - 3
.Save
' .Close
End With
Next i
If blnCreated = True Then

Hi,

Thought I would say hi first as I'm now here.

I have been looking at thread 541487 and I was wondering if it could be expanded to cover a couple of items:

1. Check for duplicate entries already in Outlook, or maybe to set a flag against each row once created in Outlook (The spreadsheet I'm using will be continuously added to)

2. If a column has a an AD username to check the username against the calendar being created in and to only create items that match

I have attached an example.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Hello.

I am currently optimizing the workflow for the ventilation company i work for. (I am a young student worker). And one of my ideas is to synchronize dates of service that has been done to the customers ventilation systems (those dates are listed in Excel with all the other service data) with the offices Outlook Calendar.
Our clients sign up for yearly service for their ventilation service, however the service engineers are so busy that even though we have a service date (1 year from last service obviously) they might do the job 1 month later than expected. Therefor the dates in the calendar will not be up to date with the last service done.
The service engineers do a service report in Excel after finishing a job. Here they enter the date for when the work has been done. I want this cell where the date has been entered to synchronize with a Outlook Calendar appointment of this particular vent. service. Remember that there are many service reports in different Excel documents.
Is this possible? And how? If not, what if i made a new Excel document which automaticly updates the dates of all the other documents, and then made this document synchronize either automaticly or manually?
I have of course searched the web, and i found this thread which is very close to what i want: http://forums.techguy.org/business-applications/541487-merge-excel-dates-into-outlook.html

The problem is; in that thread they talk about some code like everyone would know. Sadly I have no id... Read more

Hey. First time posting and I couldn't find a definitive answer from searching through the forums...

I've seen many ways to export dates from an excel spreadsheet as outlook calendar appointments both using VBA and just the manual export feature. However, before I search myself into oblivion, is it possible for it to be true 'sync'? What I mean is the VBA code can check if an appointment has already been created and edit the date/time/etc. if it has changed?

All the examples I've seem like they would just create a duplicate appointment in this example.

Thanks for you help!

Any ideas of how to copy checkbox data from Outlook 10 Calendar to Excel?

I created a large number of custom controls in Outlook Calendar. These include a number of checkboxes. I created a custom view with all of the fields (it's in list format so it looks like a spreadsheet). I used CTRL-A and CTRL-C to select all and copy. When I pasted into Excel none of the checkbox controls transferred. Everything else is there. I tried the same thing with Access with the same results.

Answer:Copying data from Outlook Calendar to Excel

Controls are not data, you cannot copy them elsewhere.

Good Morning,

I have very limited knowledge when it comes to Macros and VBA.

What I need is one of two possible scenarios.

1. Information from a Training Assignment PivotTable exported to a shared calendar on Outlook.
2. Information from a Training Calendar bulit as a Macro in Excel exported to a shared calendar on Outlook and the ability to update either calendar if new information becomes available.

Don't know which is best using code via VBA or using the Export/Import functions.

Any help is greatly appreciated

Hello,
I am learner, who wants to automatize his repetition through combination of Excel and Outlook. I've read some posts on this forum and I see, that it is possible. However, I am totally lame in both Excel and Outlook and script writing. Yup, I am total tech noob.

I want it to look like this (behold, paint-edited picture):

I learn something, then I write down what I learned in excel spreadsheet ('WHAT?' in the spreadsheet) and give it a CODE, which would be shown in Outlook calendar. I write down the in which I learned and my outlook calendar syncs with every one of six repetitions.

I found some VBA (?) codes on this message board, but I have no idea how to implement them to my excel (and even less idea how to change the code). I would really appreciate if you would give me some hints or link (except for google.com ) where this process is described.

Here is link to my excel spreadsheet, if you want.

Thanks in advance.

Hi everyone,

I am beginner in excel and have used it only for creating tables etc. but never used it details like using macros. I need your help in merging due dates frome excel 2003 to outlook. details are as under;

I have a worksheet with some internal office circulars / procedures record i.e. type of circular, date of issue, circular no., issuing department, issuing person and review date. I am responsible to inform the issuing department that a review date of the circular is just reaching preferrably 15 days before. This is a large database and this is one of my assignments. so I can't do it by checking excel sheet everyday. I want to auto update my outlook calendar from review date column less 15 days. Or can excel sen a message to outlook regarding this particularly without opening that excel sheet?

Answer:merging of due dates from excel 2003 to outlook calendar

You can't do anything unless Excel is running. The macro has to run from some app that is running.

How do I enable calendar reminders in WLM? Thanks.

Answer:WLM and calendar reminder

Open WLM and in the left-hand column open Calendar. Then, go to the upper-right hand corner and click on the Options link. Scroll down to the Calendar's setting options (see below) and follow the on-screen directions to set your reminder times.

By the way, there is an announcement that reminder alerts have been discontinued by Microsoft, so you might want to take a look at this link that is posted in the Reminders section: Change how you get reminders.

Question: Calendar/Reminder

Glad to see the forums up again. I was wondering what any of you guys use as an organizer/reminder type program. I want something that I can put stuff in on certain dates and it reminds me and also has a very easy to read layout. Like maybe it would show that month, and all of the entries I have are in bold or something.

What do you guys use?

Answer:Calendar/Reminder

I use Outlook for that actually. It gets the job done quite well. If you don't have office and don't want to pay for it, yahoo has that feature built into thier my.yahoo.com account. It's free and it gets you a custom homepage, email, etc.

Using Windows Vista and Outlook 2007. I keep getting a popup reminder for an event that was deleted before it happened. the reminder says the event is to happen "now". When I try dismissing it, it pops up again any time there is another reminder of a different event. I have tried putting /cleanreminders at the end of the command line (as stated in previous postings - Aug 2010), but that doesn't seem to help. The error message I get is "...cannot locate recurrence info. You may be reminded again." I do have my Outlook synchronized with an iPod Touch, could that have something to do with it? Thanks for any help.

Hi, and welcome to the board!

If you're calendar is synchronized with your iPod calendar, it's probably picking it up from that, and you'd need to delete off both. I've never been fond of mixing PC and Apple (call me superstitious!). These links may provide some use:

My friend's android phone allows for multiple reminders. What was Microsoft thinking and is there a work around for this issue?

Maybe this is little unusual question, but I don't know where else to ask. I am using calendar app in windows 10, as a default calendar app on my desktop. when I put some reminder it does appear on windows, but NOT on my iPhone. I am using google calendar and google account for calendar, both on windows calendar and my iPhone. It happens also otherwise. If I put a reminder on my iPhone, it doesn't appear in calendar app on windows. So only reminder is a problem. Events appears both on windows and iPhone, and are synced ok. I guess it's a problem with windows calendar app, but don't know how to solve this. It causes me lots of unpleasant surprises. i missed few of my appointments, because reminder, which I set, didn't show on my iPhone.

Good Afternoon,

I'm quite stuck trying to fix my code. I've scoured the internet looking for similar questions, but to no avail. I am trying to have excel create appointments in the outlook calendar and be able to run the macro multiple times without have duplicate appointments.

I could run my macro and create an appointment, which worked fine, but there was no routine to check if the appointment already existed. So I would have multiple appointment alerts for the same appointment if I ran the macro more than once. (If I were to add something and run the macro again to keep everything up to date).

So I tried to add a loop checking first the date of the appointment then the title (subject). However, now, I am getting the "Object doesn't support this property or method" error when I run the following code.

If anyone could help me with what the error refers to specifically in my code or any code I need to add or take out to make my loop work I would really appreciate it. Thank you very much in advance.

Dim olApp As Outlook.Application

I'm running Windows 10 on my new HP laptop and I can't get rid of the Microsoft Works Calendar Reminder. The laptop will suddenly slow down to a crawl, and when I go to Task Manager and look to see what's going on, I discover that the Microsoft Works Calendar Reminder is eating up half of my cpu, making the computer slow to a crawl. I can right-click it, then delete it, but it will just come back again, the next time I boot up the laptop.

I went to the uninstall settings and thought that I had uninstalled it, but it is obviously still lurking somewhere in the computer, even though it doesn't show, now, in the list of programs available to be uninstalled.

Is this some kind of worm/virus or just a really annoying, persistent Microsoft app?

Any ideas as to how I might get rid of it for good would be very much appreciated.

Answer:Can't Get Rid of Microsoft Works Calendar Reminder

Microsoft dropped Works and Works Suite a few years ago, or more. Since you say it's a new computer with Win10 how did you install Works? Works 9 [the last] is okay on Win10, at least on mine, but I installed Works after I got the computer. The previous computer that I relegated to a spare was upgraded to Win10 from Win7 which already had Works 9 on it. I haven't tried Works 8.5 or earlier on Win10, yet.

Help! I posted the following in the business software forum 2 months ago, and have had no replies. Surely there is someone out there with a possible solution!

My MS works reminder system has failed - it no longer pops up automatically to remind me of an entry on the calendar. I tried reinstalling Works, but this did not help.
It is possible this is related to a new computer, but I thought it was still working after the program was transferred to this computer.
I am using XP Pro (was XP Home on the old computer).
Someone suggested copying the shortcut to the start menu, but I am just computer illiterate enough that I couldn't figure that one out. Besides which, the program worked fine for a long time after the original installation.

I've seen this problem from time to time. Windows Calendar in Vista would not remind even when in the options I select "Reminders should show when Windows Calendar is not running".
The problem started when I changed my computer name.
Going into the "taskschd.msc" would give an error. It's because I changed my computer name.
The solution is to just put my name back the way I had it.
Here's an old thread that tried alternative procedures, but none worked for me.

I made a daily reminder on Cortana ( I can't remember if I made it on phone or pc).
When I was finished with the reminder I completed it. However, it seems to be haunting me as it shows up on my calendar on my surface pro and I can't do anything with it. It's just there
It does not show up on my phone's calendar which is is strange because they are the same. If I try to click on the event on the day, it opens Cortana but there is nothing there. It's just blank and black with the delete option, save option and complete option (if I press the three dots) But there is no name to identify the reminder.
If I go in Cortana and click reminders. It does not show. If I check reminders history it does not show either
Hovering on the reminder in the calendar brings up "edit series and edit occurrence" . Both are uselss
I tried uninstalling the mail and calendar app and reinstalling but that also proved futile.
Any suggestions? It's pretty annoying seeing it there. One option is to deselect the reminders calendar on my surface but then I won't see any reminders at all.

Ok, I'm in the correct forum now.

I recently downloaded malwarebytes anti-malware program. The instructions were good and it worked fine. But, now I can't access my calendar for reminders. I get a generic error message saying "Microsoft Works 8 has encountered a problem and must close."
It does not say what problem.
I am not using Microsoft Works 8, nor have I downloaded or installed it, ever.
I'm using Microsoft Works 2003 which came pre-installed on my computer when I bought it.
I never upgraded.
None of the items in the list of malware found said anything about microsoft calendar.
I've tried rolling back to a date before I used the anti-malware program but it had no effect.
My calendar data seems to be there, and it was backed up, the program just won't run.
The only other thing I use from M. works is a spreadsheet which still opens fine.

I can't find any way to make the calendar run.
I hope someone has some ideas.
Thanks.

Create a permanent folder on your hard drive like c:\program files\hjt.
Download Hijackthis and save it to that folder.

Double click on Hijackthis.exe then click on the "Scan" button, then click on "Save Log".

Copy and paste it back here and someone will be happy to review it.

Don't make any changes until instructed to do so.

While Works on the whole is fine I'm having problems with the he reminder function, even though the reminder exe is listed in the correct places it doesn't produce a pop up at the time of the reminder, I've set it to 15 mins & 30 mins before to test it & nothing.
Opening up works calendar doesn't pop up the reminder either but manually opening the reminder does work.
When I first install it works fine until I restart the laptop then it stops working.
Anything I can look for or do to fix this?
Tia.

Hi all... I just joined this forum as past threads have been of great assistance... But now I have a immediate issue... I have wrote some code to pull info from a Excel report and create an Outlook appointment base on various commitment dates... This report is sent out daily therefore the macro is used daily... An issue that has risen is that everytime the macro is ran it creates duplicate appoinments which quickly bogg down the server... I saw an example on a closed thread and could not quite figure it out... Can anyone assist??? I am running 2003 versions of both Excel and Outlook and my code is as follow and thanks...

Sub ExceltoOutlookCommitDateSmithRenewalReport()
'
' ExceltoOutlookCommitDate Macro
' Load Excel Commit Dates into Outlook
'
' Keyboard Shortcut: Ctrl+o
'
' Create the Outlook session
Set myOutlook = CreateObject("Outlook.Application")

If MsgBox(prompt:="OK if YES / CANCEL if NO", _
Buttons:=vbOKCancel + vbQuestion, Title:="HAS PAA BEEN FILTERED?") = vbOK Then
MsgBox "MACRO WILL NOW UPDATE OUTLOOK CALENDAR WITH PROCLAIM COMMIT DATES."

Cells.Select
Selection.Copy
Workbooks.Add
Cells.Select
ActiveSheet.Paste

' Start at row 5
r = 5
Do Until Trim(Cells(r, 1).Value) = ""
If (Cells(r, 20).Value) = "" Then
' Create the AppointmentItem
Set myApt = myOutlook.createitem(1)
' Set the appointment properties
myApt.Subject = Cells(r, 2).Value
If (Cells(r, 5).Va... Read more

Answer:2003 Excel to Outlook Calendar appoinment VB macro creates duplicates appointments

Hi jayJay,

I'm not going to look through the whole code but what I think happens is that sinec you run the macro every time it will just add an appoitment, I think an options should be added, something like an extra column namen DONE and when the macro is run the cell in the column DONE should be given a value True() or a 1 to indicate it as done, so that when you run the macro again the column DONE cells where the valkue is not True() or is not 1 (dependign on waht you choose) is carried out.
This way you will avoid duplication.
Just an idea, happy coding.

Hi,

It has been decided that my computer is free from malware, so I've been referred to this forum.

I recently downloaded malwarebytes anti-malware program. The instructions were good and it worked fine. But, now I can't access my calendar for reminders. I get a generic error message saying "Microsoft Works 8 has encountered a problem and must close."
It does not say what problem.

I have a Works 8 installation disk, but I think if I just reinstall Works, I'll lose all the notes on my calendar.

The only other thing I use from Works is a simple database which is working fine. Only the calendar reminder feature won't run. If I reinstall Works I could lose all the info on my database and I don't feel like re-entering over 1000 files.

I have the database backed up and it looks like I 'should' be able to run the backup file if the original gets wiped.
However, although I have backed up all the files in Works calendar folder, I don't know which one(s) hold the reminder info. I've tried replacing existing files with the backups, but they don't run so it looks like the problem is not with the calendar data files themselves, but something more basic to Works 8.

I recently found that if I right click on WksCal.exe and choose "Run as..." and use "administrator ", I get a different error message. This one simply says that Works could not find some needed files and suggests that they may have been moved or eras... Read more

I would like an internet calender service that will send me unlimited reminder emails.

What happens: I will have a diary event...
I will set myself a reminder.
I will get the reminder: and I will still forget!

Much better: if I am allowed to set several reminders!

i.e. first reminder 3 days before the event, 2nd 2 days before, 3rd 1 day before and 4th 3 hours before.

This way: I won't forget!

I want the reminders sent by email.

At the moment, I use Yahoo calendar.
This does the job.
For any event you can set 2 reminders.
so what I do: create several events at the same time sending out different reminders.

Problem: creating more than one event os cumbersome and takes time.
Much better: be able to creat one event and add several reminders for that event.

Does anything like this exist out there...!!!

(Funnily enough... I have come accross something that does do this: sky.com. Not sure if you *have* to be a registered member though. And also: not sure of the reliability.)

If anyone can make any sense of my request... and knows an answer: please reply!!

Thanks.
OM

Does anyone know how to produce a landscape year calendar in excel. My users have a table in word that they update. Months across the top and days of the week (mon tue etc) down the left hand side. Each month's numbering starts on the first with the first being in the block that corresponds to the month and day of week for that month. Seems so simple. I want to put it into excel and access what they write for the specific days and use it to create folders. eg. Jan 1 20114 is a Wed. March 3, is a Monday and has APC planning sessions. I want to create a folder on a predefined path /APC/3 March 2014. Sounds easy - but I can't even create this calendar! Can anyone advise? [ps doesn't copy nice, have used ... to space out]
(columns) Jan Feb Mar etc
Sun
Mon
Tue
Wed........ 1
Thu ........ 2
Fri .......... 3
Sat.......... 4.. 1... 1
Sun ..........5.. 2.. 2
Mon .........6.. 3... 3 APC
Tue ..........7.. 4... 4
Wed......... 8.. 5... 5
Thu ..........9.. 6... 6
Fri (etc .... 10. 7... 7

OK...question regarding Excel Calendar Control...

I have been fumbling around with it and I'm getting frustrated...likely because I don't have much experience using controls...

What I want is for the user to see a pop-up calendar when clicking on certain cells. After choosing the date from the pop-calendar, it enters the date in the cell in the format that I want.

Any thoughts?

Hi all,

I believe this next function I'd like to have would be very simple, but I just don't know how/where to start.

I got an calendar overview in excel for the year 2010.
Now I'd like users to fill in something at a specific date with a form.
So they should select the month and daynumber and the text they fill in should be added in the cell next to this. See an example below. On the right-side of each number, there is an extra empty cell. So I.E. Here was filled in after they selected Januari 2nd Text: I.E. Here.

Can someone give me an example code?

Thanks in advance,
Willem

The high-pitched noise or squeal occurs when I receive a call, open an email, and receive a calendar reminder. The noise lasts 5-10 seconds and is audible at least 25 feet away (several office cubicles away, for example). I have had the phone approximately one year and this noise started occurring about 3 weeks ago.

Ok so I added a few events to my calendar real quick the other day by just clicking the day (in grid view) and typing in the event name. Just now when I went back and fixed the day I hit save and the event isn't visable on the month grid. The event is still there but in order to view it I have to scroll down to the time in day view. Why doesn't the event show up when in month view? all of my events are doing that now, they never used to! AHHH!

Thanks

Answer:Solved: Outlook Calendar

Hi Michael, which version of Outlook are you using? In Outlook 2007, when you're in the month view there are radio buttons at the top where you can choose for the Details to be Low, Medium or High. To show the individual appointments (as opposed to all day appointments) you must choose High. Hope that helps.

I opened my Outlook this morning at my office this morning and it was fine. When I left my office in the afternoon to do work at home, my calendar was blank. My outlook is synced to a live.com (hotmail) account, not a business server. For some reason the events that were snoozed at one point are still popping up. The outlook calendar is synced thru google to my phone. I can still see the calendar in google which has a lot of appointments on it. I don't know if these were just appointments I added thru my phone though and not ones entered on my laptop. I can still see the calendar on my phone as well.

So, in sum, my calendar on desktop outlook is gone but remains on google and phone. When I open outlook a window pops up and says; "Could not read the calendar. Outlook cannot open this item. The item may be damaged." It also says this in the top right where the calendar used to be. If I click the calendar button it takes me to the page where the calendar should be but instead shows; "Cannot display the folder". I have Windows 7 and Outlook 2007. I'm not super IT savvy but need to get this calendar with the appointments back somehow. Sorry for the lengthy explanation, just trying to give as much info as possible. Please help if you can. Thanks!

Silly question to ask but I have one of my bosses who is receiving calendar invites in his email but is not accepting/rejecting them. The problem is when his reminders come up it reminds him about the meeting he has not agreed to and is annoyed because he has a lot to do during the day and does not have time to properly reject the meetings. Is there anyway to turn off notifications for this kind of thing? Thank you for your time.

I have been running Outlook for a couple of years. I think it is a great tool. Recently I had to reinstall the program. On my view page I used to have a list of folders, current emails, preview page, and calendar. When the program was reinstalled, my calendar is gone. I can go to it and it works fine, but I can't figure out how to have it display on my main view page. How do I do this? Thank you for your help!

Hi Guys,
i hope someone can help with this.
i want to save my old e-mails and my old calendars.
what i do to archive is, create an archive for the folder i want to archive.
so, the calendar would archive to "calendararch.pst". then when i need to look something up i just have to get that archive and nothing else.
for some unknown reason my calendar will not archive. the file is created but the calendar entries are not there. The entries for each day are not being brought over to the archive. they just remain in the calender.
Most of my e-mail folders will archive with no problem, but not the calendar.
the box is: P4 running windows XP pro with SP3, the outlook is: outlook 2003 updated from 2000.
any thoughts?
thanks.

Answer:Solved: unable to Archive my outlook calendar

Hi inetbogey

Did you copy or export the Calendar recently?

Archiving is based on the modified date, if you add the Modified date field to the Calendar Arrange By Category view, does the Modified date fall within the archiving dates?
