Preferred Solution: Scanner not detected by MS Office 2007 - Microsoft Office Document Scanning

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: Scanner not detected by MS Office 2007 - Microsoft Office Document Scanning

check if you have installed all the office updates.

Am running Office 2000. Recently re-installed it but have lost the ability to use the Microsoft Office Document Scanning - Imaging facility which I found very useful. Anyone, any ideas on how to get it back?

Answer:Microsoft Office Document Scanning - Imaging

Hi milkybarkid, When I re-installed office 2000 I clicked on 'Insert', 'Picture' and was told that the feature was not installed. I was prompted to put the office 2000 disc in and click OK. This re-installed the feature. Cheers, Bill

What started all my problems is my Microsoft Office tools scanner kept coming up with the error message "An internal error has occurred. I this error persists reinstall this application.

I reinstalled/uninstalled my Microsoft Office XP 2002 twice and still get this message. I got the scanner working with the software that it came with but the Office Tools scanner program is much easier to work with. It should be part of the Microsoft Office program that I tried installing. I have the original discs for Office so it's confusing why the office tools scanner part will not work. Any ideas would be helpful.

Thank you dlb for your help getting my installer to work. I end up having to open the services.msc to start the installer sometimes. Does your start parameters have anything in it. Mine is blank. I was thinking that maybe something should be in the parameters box to have windows installer start all the time. At least I can run it in some form. I could use advice from someone with the following problem.

there is supposed to be an option in the tools tab of the office suite to access document and image scanner yet it doesn't appear to be there.

the software that came with the printer isn't compatable and no updates are available for the software which isn't very good anyway.

has anyone seen a link or know of a link to download this side of office as an addon or plug in?

any help would be great thanks.

edit: oh i should add it's for a vista 32 bit system not my own system.

Answer:Office 2007 document and image scanner

Apparently Microsoft says the scanning option is not available in Office 2007. Here's the quote from the Office 2007 Help section search result for scanning:

The "From Scanner or Camera" option for scanning documents and pictures is not available in Microsoft Office Word 2007. Instead, you can use your scanner to scan the document, and then you can save the file to your computer.
After you scan the document, you can use Microsoft Office Document Imaging to create a version of the document that you can edit.

I have Office 2010 Standard Open License Version installed on 7 XP Pro machines. We discovered, when trying to open a .tif file, that Document Imaging has been removed from Office 2010. I found and followed instructions in KB982760 from the MS web site. I got lots of parts of Office 2007, including Word, but still no Document Imaging. I tried going through Add/Remove Programs to add the feature; still no luck. Has anyone been successful getting Document Imaging from a previous version of Office to run under 2010?

Thanks,
adaniel

Hi all

I am using Windows XP and office 2003. I am using Microsoft Office Picture Manager to view tif files.

PROBLEM:

1. I open a tif file.
2. I make an annotation change eg: Use the hightlighting tool to hightlight some text. Fine, no problem!
3. I save the document.
4. I close the document and try reopening it:

I get this error:

"The file selected is not a valid Microsoft Document Imaging file"

I recreated my Windows XP profile and this resolved the problem

That was two weeks ago........now the problem is back!

Any ideas?

I have lost access to the file because of the change in file formats, it was in windows old but how do I recover it and then change the file formats? It strikes me this may be a problem in a business or a charity who just didn't have

Can anyone help me? I just had to reinstall Windows XP. Don't know what happened to lose it. Original Windows XP is still there but wouldn't open up. Now I have two installations. I think I can go back, once I have everything straightened out and delete the old Windows.

My question is: I reinstalled Microsoft Works Suite 2002 from the original CD's from Dell. I
thought this would also reinstall Microsoft office XP and document scanning and imaging. But they don't work. I get a message that installation is wrong or shortcut is wrong. Since nothing will come up, how do I fix this. Before losing Windows everything worked fine.

When I lost Windows, I rebooted and it wouldn't boot up. Couldn't do system restore or anything.

Can someone help me fix office?

do you have a CD with Microsoft office on it - this is a seperate product and very expensive - not normally shipped with PC's unless some really special offer.

Ok, well up until yesterday my father was using Office 2000 with Microsoft binder for work. He just got a new laptop for work and he's got Office 2007 installed. From the looks of Microsoft's site it states that 'Microsoft Unbind is not included with Office 2007.' Looks like what I really need is Microsoft Binder from Office 2000. Is there a place I can download it (legally) or purchase it? He literally has thousands of binder files (*.obd) that he needs to be able to access. I've tried searching with nothing turning up.

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

Answer:Microsoft Office Binder (*.obd files) with Office 2007?

So further searching turned up that Unbind for Office XP/2003 is just a waste of time for Office 2007 and no point in looking further into that.

So then I found this:
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=822622

Which seems to me if I can track down a Office 2000 disc I should be able to install JUST Binder 2000. Results show that it works along side Office XP/2003 so I don't see why it wouldn't with Office 2007. It would only be used to unbind old files, not create new ones.

If anyone has any other thoughts that would be great.
I'll look into what I wrote above tomorrow and post back with the results if need be.

Microsoft has announced the availability of Service Pack 2 (SP2) for the 2007 Microsoft Office system few days back. The update includes major performance enhancements for Office applications, most notably Microsoft Office Outlook and Microsoft Office SharePoint Server. Another big benefit is SP2’s boost to interoperability.
This tutorial will help you to slipstream Office sp2 updates into your Office 2007 DVD.
Follow the simple steps given below.
1. Download Office SP2 update pack
2. create two folders “office2007_setup“, “office2007_sp2” folder under C:\Office directory,
3. Put all your content of Office 2007 DVD and SP2 update file into “office2007_setup” and “office2007_sp2“.
4. Open command prompt and execute the command given below.
“C:\Office\Office2007_sp2>office2007sp2-kb953195-fullfile-en-us.exe /extract:C:\Office\Office2007_setup\update”
5. Make the DVD of your integrated Office SP2 suit located into the “office2007_setup” folder and Install it.

I am currently using windows XP Service Pack 2. I had been using Office 97 and have moved to Office 2007.
I noticed that in the startup program Microsoft Find Fast.lnk is enabled. From what I can find, it is an Office 97 program.
Is it still needed with Office 2007. Is there any reason not to disable it.
Someone mentioned that it is a resource hog.
Unless I missed it, there is very little in the way of directions moving from Office 97 to Office 2007 and I sometimes have trouble finding old files.
Any help you can give me will be appreciated.
Thank you.

When I sent a message and when I was using Microsoft Office Outlook 2003, I had an option that enabled me to add a photo following or preceding my text. This option enabled me to put a photo in the text area and place text under or above the photo explaining the photo. I am now running Microsoft Office Outlook 2007 using Windows Home Premium 64 bit and I cannot find this option. If this is no longer an option, how can I place a photo in the text area and then follow with text explaining the photo? If this is not possible, I guess this new version is a downgrade!
Thanks in advance and I will appreciate an answer.

:wave If I have, and LOVE Open Office :drool, but run in to the occasional file that I can't open with it, not the new .xdoc or anything, but for instance, a friend of mine sent me a .doc that I couldn't open with OOrg, can they coexist on a machine? Can I still use OOrg for everything, and MSO for things that get emailed to me?

I am guessing I can, and this new CD is licensed for 3 machines, so I might use it on mine, if it's not going to mess up OOrg..

Thanks guys!

Both windows XP Machines.. my signature refers to a machine I have at home. lol

Answer:Open Office & Microsoft Office (2007)

Yes, you can run OOorg and MS Office on the same PC. You may run into occasional problems when the PC can't decide which program to use to open a certain document, but this is easily solved by right clicking on the document, and selecting Open With and then selecting the program you want to open it with.

Ok, so I got a Trojan virus and had to use Dell Datasafe to delete everthing on my computer and reinstall windows. Now, when I open any of the Microsoft Office programs it asks for a key, which i don't have. I never got an office CD with my computer, so where do i find my key? If it helps, here's my computer info:

OS Version: Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium , 64 bit
Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU P7450 @ 2.13GHz, Intel64 Family 6 Model 23 Stepping 10
Processor Count: 2
RAM: 4056 Mb
Graphics Card: Mobile Intel(R) 4 Series Express Chipset Family, 1804 Mb
Hard Drives: C: Total - 290204 MB, Free - 214483 MB;
Motherboard: Dell Inc., 0G848F, , .HV9M1K1.CN701669BU048S.
Antivirus: McAfee Anti-Virus and Anti-Spyware, Updated and Enabled

Answer:Problem With Microsoft Office 2007 Office

How did you reinstall Office if you didn't have the CD for it?
The key should have been included with the documentation when you bought your PC. Unfortunately if it's not included in the documentation there is little likelyhood that you will be able to recover it now you have wiped everything. Have you contacted Dell for support?

whenever i open ms office outlook 2007 and try to download received emails, an error message will pop up saying path to naCmnLib71.dll is not found and outlook has to close
after some searching on the internet it seems this file is used by mcafee virusscan to scan incoming emails
after disabling the email scanner everything worked fine
so i can conclude that the email scanner is indeed the problem
i also updated mcafee virusscan to the lastest version but it does not seem to solve the problem
is there anyone with the same problem and has solved the problem?
can you provide me with the solution?
thank you

Answer:Microsoft Office Outlook 2007 error when McAfee VirusScan performs e-mail scanner during downloading of incoming e-mail

Well, if something is making the email scan not work, to be honest I personally would do a AV and AS scan, and maybe even a boot scan... Just to make sure there is nothing else causing the problem.

I have a document that was created in Office 2003 and had document protection enabled. When I try and open it in Office 2007 the protected document settings indicate that there are no restrictions yet I am unable to edit the document. Does anyone know how to disable the document protection from within Office 2007.

There are many of these documents that were created in Office 2003 so setting up an office 2003 machine would be very impractical for the random times I happen upon these documents.

Answer:Protected Document Office 2007

This might be a ridiculous response, but here goes. What if you were able to save the document as the new Office 2007 format, and then resave it back to the Office 2003 format? Would the protection follow?

Hi,

I need help with word 2007. When I open my document (.doc format), word automatically reformats it during loading. After this, I see a lots of garbage in the contents list. This garbage are in fact lines from my document. In the document they look just like other text, but they appear in the list. When I update the style of these lines (for example it uses normal and I just click on normal style), they disappears from the list. I save the document but next time word reformats it again and I have the exactly the same garbage in the contents list. I realized I can stop the formmating during document open by ESC, which at least does not corrupt the document again, but how do I repair the document permanently?

What is wrong with my document? How do I repair my document?

I have found that when I run word 2007 or any other office 2007 program and go to the open a file icon, you then get the open file window that has all of my word documents. Since I saved them with thumbnails, there is a thumbnail of each document saved. Now here comes the problem; over on the right there is the preview pane and when you click on a file for preview, I get the error message: "This file can't be previewed because of an error in the Microsoft Office Word previewer". Of course I have googled this problem, but I haven't found much info other that to run the program with the /a on the end of the desktop short cut which turns off many of Words add-ins and other things that I really don't know about. Yes when you run it in this mode, the preview handler does work as it should. Does know the cause of this behavior and have a solution?

Answer:Office 2007 Open Word Document Window

Since running the program with the /a locks out plug-ins and such, I should of known that a plug-in was causing the problem. I disabled Adobe plug-in and it now works. How about that.

Hello, Welcome to SF,

Try these steps and see whether it works

In Word 2007, go to Office button > Word Options > Proofing > AutoCorrect
Options > AutoFormat As You Type tab, and check the box for "Internet and

Hope this helps,

Answer:microsoft office document program

If you have Microsoft Word, search for a file named winword.exe. That's the file you need to start Word. If it's found, double click on it to run it. If Word opens, just make a new shortcut to the winword.exe file since your old shortcut apparently got corrupted somehow.

If you have a disc with either Microsoft Word or Microsoft Works on the label; yes, you can reinstall Word from whichever one of those you have.

Please post back with the results.

A .tif is a picture or graphic. You can open it using Windows Paint or any other painting app. If you want to use Office, you could open Word and Insert, Picture, From File, and browse to the graphic and insert it into a word doc.

Answer:Microsoft Office Document Imaging

Microsoft Office Document Imaging is part of MS Office Tools included in all versions of MS Office since XP.
If you have the original install disc of MS Office you should be able to reinstall it from there (Put the disc in your drive and when the openning screen comes up it should have a "repair" option.
I know of nowhere that you can "download" it.

Hello,

When I try to open a 2007 Word or Excel document I recieve as an attachment in Outlook 2003, I get the following message:
"This action is only valid for products that are currently installed". Office 2007 compatibility pack was installed and it still did not work.

I then uninstalled Office 2003, uninstalled the Office 2007 compatibility pack and then I ran CCleaner to clean up the registry. I updated my OS (currently has Windows XP SP3) with all updates, reinstalled Office 2003, installed Office 2003 SP 3 and then reinstalled the Office 2007 compatibility pack.

I still get the same message when I try to open an Office 2007 attachment in Outlook 2003.

OS is Windows XP SP3 fully updated
Office 2003 SP 3 fully updated

Any suggestions?

Over this past one year I have noticed more and more frequent BSOD crashes so I started paying close attention to what I was doing. Since then 100 percent of the BSOD occurred almost immediately after trying to save (via clicking the save icon, ^s (shortcut), or even save as). I found the probability of BSOD decreases a lot when you are doing a save a new filename. In fact I can't recall a single time where saving to a new file caused a problem. Overwriting an existing file seems to trigger it. The driver causing the BSOD is NTFS.sys. Note, it doesn't happen on each and every save, the average is like 1 of 7. My work-around has been to avoid saving early and often (which is a serious problem with Microsoft Office which isn't the most stable application around) and when I do save make sure it is via save-as and to a new filename. Just tack on a number or letter prefix. I mostly use Word ands Excel and have noted they both have this problem. Other applications may not have this issue, but then I don't overwrite too many files so that may be the reason for the lack of BSOD.

It's hard to say when it started. I allow Microsoft to update my PC as updates become available. I was never a fan of Microsoft roulette having been burned, but a couple friends insisted Microsoft cleaned up their act so I gave it another try. On the up side some of their updates did correct a couple minor issues. I believe one (or more) of their updates is responsible for this issue. Likewise I was hoping ... Read more

Often when I open an existing Word 2007 or Excel 2007 document, two document windows open. One is the desired document. The other is a blank and untitled window perhaps better termed an ?empty? window with a pale blue color. None of the elements in the Ribbon are active (grayed out, or dimly ?blued out?). It is like a phantom window alongside the desired window. Nothing can be typed into the phantom. The phantom can be closed and the desired document remains. Also, the desired document can be closed and the phantom remains.

This only happens when I am opening by double left clicking on a file from within a Windows folder. If I open the file by right clicking and ?Open?, I do not get the extra document. The behavior is inconsistent; after a few various Office documents are opened, the behavior ceases and only the desired window appears. Behavior is confined to Word and Excel; double clicking on other types of documents, such as text, Acrobat, or photo files does not give this problem.

I also looked at this problem in Task Manager.
When I open a file by right-click + Open, I see one application task in T.M. that begins with the normal Word 2007 file icon on the left: a small W with a few tiny lines (within the icon) under the W. Then Filename - Microsoft Word non-commercial use; then under Status is shown Running. This is the desired file. When I open a file by double-clicking with the left mouse, two application tasks show up in T.M. Neither of these tasks has the normal ... Read more

Answer:Office 2010 is great BUT it's missing MS Office Document Image Writer

It is not missing. It is just that there is nothing out there that uses the newest version. Go under Control Panel>Devices and Printers. You will see the Microsoft XPS Document Writer. That is the same thing.

Running Vista Ultimate (32 bit) on HP Media Center Desktop Unit (8100y). Each time system is booted up and Outlook 2007 is accessed for the first time, Microsoft Office 2007 begins to reconfigure itself. Neither canceling of the configuation process nor allowing the process to complete seems to have any apparent effect on subsequent operations.

Performed repair function on the Office application without any discernible effect. Any help in resolving this issue would be truly appreciated!

But there's no update from XP to Win 7. Do you mean that the new PC's have Win 7 pre installed? What version of MS Office do you have on the new PC's? Where is this document stored as if it has been transferred from one PC to another it may have got corrupted on the transfer?

Hey everybody

Here at the office, we scan in leads that are mailed out to various employees. The scanner makes the file a .tiff, which has all the document images in that one file. We have to view the tiff with Microsoft Office Document Image in order to view all of the different files.

For example, if there were 40 documents scanned, and they all are put into one single .tiff. Now, if I use Microsoft Office Document Image to view it, then all 40 of them come up on the left side, and I can view them seperately.

However, if I use a picture viewer, it only shows the first document of the .tiff. I can't scroll through or anything.

Now, it's not a problem for us in the office, since we all have Microsoft Office. However, it is a problem when we e-mail them out to users that do not have this program. Is there a free alternative to this, that I can tell the employees to download, and use as the viewer for these documents?

Thanks.

How do I associate opening a TIF file within Internet Explorer v6.0 with "Microsoft Office Document Imaging" on Windows XP?

Here's the scenario.

Within Windows Explorer on Windows XP, I can double click on a *.tif file and Microsoft Office Document Imaging will open and display the *.tif file. This works fine and as expected. The file association is correct.

But, I'm viewing a database application (Onyx Employee Portal v5.0) that uses Internet Explorer as an interface. Within this Internet Explorer interface, there is a link to a *.tif file. When I click on the link, another Internet Explorer window appears, I see the QuickTime logo appear for a second, then the TIF file appears within the Internet Explorer window. But, I don't want to view the TIF file with Internet Explorer. I want to view the TIF file with Microsoft Office Document Imaging. How do I make my computer understand this?

Thanks,
Dave

Answer:TIF file association with Microsoft Office Document Imaging

Its because its not really tif you are opening. If you are clicking a link to the tif then you are really opening a hyperlink more so than a tif file. So what you could so is right click on the link and do a "Save target as" then save the tif to your desktop which would then open it properly.

I am in homeschooling and I rely completely on my computer for my education.
I just recently found and joined a program called Microsoft Office Live. It is basically like having an online flash drive, so you can access your files from any computer. (if you have internet)
A couple of days after I uploaded a Microsoft Word document and saved it on the program, I came back and now it won't let me edit it!
What happens is I click on the "Edit" button when I have my document selected then a message box pops up and says "Some files can harm your computer. If the file information looks suspicious, or you do not fully trust the source, do not open the file."

Then it either lets me click "OK" or "Cancel".
When I click "OK" the box goes away, but it doesn't take me to the editing screen so I am not able to edit my document.

I have tried over, and over again. Nothing happens! I think there might be something wrong with my Microsoft Word because it worked on a computer that I used before. But what I need to do is get it to work on my current computer.

I am using Windows Vista.

Also, I am using a free trial for Microsoft Word...may that be the problem?

Well, let me know what you think. I am sort of a beginner/intermediate with computers.

Please Help me on this! It is mandatory for my grades in my Sophomore year of high school!

The issue is specific to Office 2016 on Win 10 (Office 2016 on Win 7, no problem, Office 2010 on Win 10, no problem). Certain documents (reported by a user who receives documents with Japanese text, haven't seen it happen with others) have the layout messed up, a 2 page Word doc gets spread over 4 pages, and I've been given some sample powerpoint slides which have text overflowing the end of the slide.

Word doc was originally in Legacy 2003 format, I did manage to make this particular document display correctly by saving it in .docx format, then enabling compatibility changes via vba, setting to 2010 compatibility and enabling "Use printer metrics to lay out document" based on what I read here: BUG!! Word 2016 fails to print margins correctly / messes - Microsoft Community

The other sample file I received was a .pptx - haven't been able to find corresponding compatibility options in Powerpoint.

Wouldn't be quite so annoying if they didn't both display perfectly in Windows 7.

Answer:Office Document layout/margins overflow on Office 2016 + Win 10

Turns out it was some sort of font substitution issue. I noticed the fonts in Word/Powerpoint weren't present in the Windows font dir. Copied them over from another Win 7 machine, suddenly everything looks fine.

Not sure why Office 2010 did a better job of it than 2016, I couldn't really pick if there was a difference in the Japanese characters before and after the font, only that the page layout was stuffed...

I am finding it a challenge to scan with the 1100A. How do I do it? I use Vista and have installed the scanner as a Xerox (it does that) but I do not have a manual and cannot seem to get the instructions as to how to do this from HP? Do I need something? When I browse to Office on my computer and go to MODI and try and scan it says no scanner is installed but I don't see where to install one? And hand holding would be helpful, as I don't know where to turn. I don't even know where the scan button is on the printer.

When I now try to open Outlook I receive the following "Cannot open your default email folders. The file C:\User\Maurice\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Outlook\Outlook.pst is not a personal folders file"

I have tried uninstalling and re-installing Office from the original disks a number of times, I have successfully installed this on another Win7 desktop computer partition and it works fine. I have attempted to follow the MS repair online notification for .pst but it doesn't seem to work (or maybe it is me that isn't working). Most frustrating. Any word by word suggestions greatly appreciated.

I am wondering if anyone knows how to customize the "Open Office Document" program in Office 2000... this is the small program that archives shortcuts and has a tool bar on the left hand side with options that include : Web folders, Favorites, Desktop, Personal and History. I want to customize the "Look In:" tool bar...

Thanks,
Andrew

Answer:Office 2000: Open Office Document Shortcut

I can't find a single way to change that setting. So, here's what I'd do.

Go to your (default) folder in Windows Explorer. Right-click it and hit Create Shortcut. Then, right-click the shortcut and hit Properties. Hit Change Icon. Give it the Open Office Document icon and also rename it to Open Office Document.

Copy or cut the shortcut.

Go to C:\windows\start menu and delete the old Open Office Document Shortcut and paste the new one in there.

I completed the form off of the attachement and pressed the floppy disc icon to save it. I then made an alteration and when I went to close it I was prompted whether or not to save the changes. I pressed save. When I went to open the document as an attachement my additions were not there. I have done the following to try and find it on my laptop. Whilst on the document pressed save as instead to see where it would save it to. I have then tracked that up to local/microsoft/windows but then I am requested to go into Temporary Internet then Content IE5. These last 2 folders do not show up on my hard drive. What is the difference between a saved file called a Word Document presumably Office XP, and an Office Word Document presumably Office 2007. There is a difference in sizes, that is all I can see. Should I be converting all my old Office XP Word Documents to Office Word Document files? If so, why?

No, you don't need to convert them. Office 2007 can read files saved in earlier versions. However, earlier versions cannot read Office 2007 files without a converter click here

Hi

No free downloads of the full Office 2007 suite are available, there is a trial, but that is a 60 day thing HERE

Office 2007 will work with XP fine, requirements HERE

If you have Office 2002 (XP) and Office 2003 then if users send you docs in Office 2007 formats as in eg, Word is in Office 2002 a .doc and in Office 2007 the default is .docx then you need the Compatability pack to open the Office 2007 docs in Office 2002, 2003 and its free HERE

My 2002 version has corrupted wiping out all my Outlook contacts which I'm not happy about. I also lost the disk which doesn't help. Also, each time I tried to open Word, Windows Installer pops up asking me to install the disk.

A friend advised that he has Office 2007 which he can install and which has the "licence number" built in so it can be used by more then one person. I am a bit confused about that but he states that it has been installed in several computers. If OK, this will save me big bucks.

Should I uninstall 2002 first or will the installation of 2007 just override it?Bear in mind I don't have the 2002 disk eek:where is that damn thing?) so can't confirm any registration codes.

Open Word and/or Excel, click the "orb" at the top left, and click on "New". Then, on the right side of the New dialog window, there's a pane containing templates, mostly from Office Online, which you can browse from within that window. Once you select a template, if it's not already on your computer, MS Office will automatically download the template for you.

and no not silly question at all, you'll need this http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...70-3ae9-4aee-8f43-c6bb74cd1466&displaylang=en it will give your office 2003 the compatability to open office 2007 docs in which you can then re-save them in Office 2003 format if you wish.

The new Office 2007 formats are very different to previous office formats, although you can if choosing Save As in Office 2007 save the docs in a format that can be opened by previous Office Editions, choose Save As > Word 97-2003 Document.

Or the compatability patch above works fine too.
