Outlook 2007 "open next item" Not Working

Question: Outlook 2007 "open next item" Not Working

I recently upgraded to Office 2007 from Office 2003 and lost the ability to have the next email item opened after deleting or moving an item. I have enabled this feature (Tools -> Options -> Email Options), but there is no change. Both the "open the previous item" and "open the next item" features produce the same results (i.e. "return to the inbox"). Help??

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

XP Sp1, Office XP, Outlook 2002 Sp3, up to date.

This issue is in an additional mailbox the user (2 in this case) opens when Outlook starts up.
When trying to open an email in the folder, there's a good chance they get "Can't open this item. You don't have appropriate permission to perform this operation." Here's the kicker, if they keep trying, or try others, eventually they can open it. Once they are able to open the email once, they can open it over and over. Then they can go back and open some of the previously un-openable emails.
I've seen a reference in the KB articles, and it mentions a post Sp3 hotfix, but all updates have been applied. There are probably about 20 people that access this box, and so far only 2 have said anything. Maybe the others are more patient.
Another thing that stumps me is that one user says it only happens in the morning, before anyone else comes in. In the afternoon, everything's hunky-dorey.
I set up this users mail on a spare box, and cannot recreate the problem. I guess it's something on the local PC, but figured I'd ask. The mailbox currently has about 47mb in it, with a 60mb limit, and a 300mb cutoff.
My next course of action is to recreate the user's profile on his box, but he won't be available until Monday, plus I want to do it in the morning.
Anyone else have an idea?

What is the extension of the attachments? Might they have been viruses that have been stripped out?

I have also seen this problem with emails that were imported from Netscape on occasion.

((( I have one nerve left and this computer is getting on it. )))

Here's the problem: In Outlook 97, if I receive a forwarded message that contains the original message as an attachment (as opposed to included as message text), I get the error "Can't open this item." However, I can open messages that contain any other type of attachment, or none at all.

Also related: If I change my Outlook 97 options to "Attach original message" when forwarding a message, then try to forward one, I get the error "The messaging interface has returned an unknown error. If the problem persists, start Outlook again." Tried that -- didn't work.

Also related: If I select a message listed in my Inbox and press [Ctrl-C] to copy it, then compose a new one and try to paste the copied message (i.e. attach it), I get the error "Cannot create attachments. Internal application error."

Here's my setup: I am currently using Outlook Express 5 as my default mail client. It can receive and open attached messages just fine. I want to switch to Outlook 97 (or better) as soon as I can get this problem resolved. My OS is Windows 98 SE.

OK. I think I've provided enough info. Let me know if you need additional details. I searched the Microsoft Technet site and couldn't find anything about this. I certainly hope someone can help.

Hi

Your default emai folder is your PST file and is usually located in the following path (change my name for yours)

C:\Documents and Settings\ididmyc600\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook.

Its possible that you dont have the rights to the folder or the drive.or similar.

All,

I am using a 3rd party program that attaches documents to e-mail and will use Outlook to send. I use the program to send myself an e-mail with a word document attached. I do receive the mail and there is an icon (paper clip) showing that there is an attachment. If I double-click on the e-mail I get this message:

"Can't open this item. Outlook cannot do this action on this type of attachment".

If I right-click the mail and choose "View Attachments", I see the document name that I chose in the 3rd party program and I chose it but receive this message: "The system cannot find the file specified."

I am able to open/view any other attachment that I receive from another e-mail address, it only fails when this 3rd party program attaches a document.

Do you think that this is a security setting somewhere? Any ideas?

Thanks in advance...

Everything seems to work fine otherwise, but this is a little annoying and I'm wondering if there's any way to either fix the problem or turn the error warning off.

Hi, I'm trying to move an item from the menu "Open with" to the main menu.

I wanna open multimedia files by default with VLC player, but I use a lot the player MPC-HC x64 for HD videos. So, I wanna have that item in the main menu, as the arrow shows.

I wanna have THAT EXACT item, cause I've tried out some programs that create a shortcut of a program in the main context menu, and when I right-click on a file and click on the shortcut, the program just gets opened, but does not load the file.

Thanks!

Answer:How to move to main menu an item from "Open With..."?

windows 7 - How can I add a program to the context menu of all files? - Super User

What you see in Open With is just a menu entry created by the system from Registry values.
Usually you enter the name for the command for all files as explained in the article above.
Then in the command subkey you put the path to the exe followed by a space and "%1" which is replaced by the path of the file right clicked. Make sure the %1 is wrapped in double quotes. Otherwise if the file right clicked has a space anywhere in the path it will be chopped there.

Hello, I am intending to store my entire Hotmail email account offline in the form of an Outlook .pst file. Does anyone know if its possible to autofill the "from field" as a rule, when your in "another users /delegates" mailbox, so you dont have to add their address in the "from field"? (so it will autopopulate with their email address (and show "on behalf of")?
I hope this was clear.

thanks.

Answer:Solved: outlook 2007 "from field" 'on behalf of" issue

No ... its not possible if the user has more than one delegate (that has added them with the applicable rule). from that point on, they will have to choose which person they want to add to "sent" on behalf of field.

However, If they have just one (one only) user who has added them with that permission (to send on behalf of), it will auto-populate with that user.

So, It does not matter even if they are "in" a specific users mailbox (and expect the "on behalf of" to auto fill with that users name). If they have more than one delegate that has added them with that permission, they will still have to choose which user the message will sent "on behalf of"

i figured this out by trail and error etc

Hi,

When our website users click on an html attachment embedded on a web-page in IE9, the download manager will not display the "Open" option. It will only display "Save" and "Cancel" which our users don't like, having to save the
html document in a folder to open it. Whereas, when downloading attachments like pdf, word etc. all three options are displayed.

Is there any setting to tweak , which will display all the 3 options for HTML attachments as well?

Answer:IE9 download manager will not display "Open" option (only "Save" and "Cancel" is displayed) for downloading HTML documents.

Hi,
As you know, the Open-Save-Cancel dialog box helps you prevent your computer from affecting by virus while downloading.
So I suggest you test to reset all zones to a lower level temporarily and then please attempt to download this html attachment again.

However, since you can normally download the other documents, I suspect there is some restriction in the website which you are trying to view. I recommend you to contact the administrator of that website if possible.
could you please send me the link of the website from where you are trying to download the html attachment?
Thanks!

Hi,

My organisation has just rolled out an Exchange 2007 Server.
I am a desktop support engineer for my unit. We are setting up access to the server through Outlook 2003.

A small number of Outlook 2003 users get this error message when they are using a .prf file to configure their clients.

"Your Exchange Server administrator has blocked the version of Outlook that you are using. Contact your administrator for assistance."

This is XP SP2 running Outlook 2003 (error occurs on Office, Office SP2 and Office SP3) connecting to Exchange 2007.

I have tried tried applying SP2 and SP3 to Office and completely reinstalling Office but it still occurs.

I am told by the Server Administrators that this is a local problem so I am not getting any help from them. I tend to believe them that it's not server side because I set one of the profiles up on two PCs next to eachother. On one it worked fine but on the other it had this error message. I could not see a difference in the two Outlook installations.
I have read this article here http://support.microsoft.com/kb/924625 but a lot of the questions it asks and tests involve having administrator access over the server which I do not have.

Does anyone know of anything in the local Office installation that I do have control over that has been known to cause this?

All the best,

Answer:Solved: Outlook 2003/Exchange 2007 - "Your Version of Outlook has been blocked..."

Hi we managed to find the solution so I'm posting it here to help others.

We inherited a number of builds that were done by other companies. It appears these builds have in the past had previous versions of Office installed. This has resulted in registry keys lurking around from the old installs.

Once we removed these registry entries it worked.

Best way to do this that I could think of is to

1) Uninstall Office and then search the registry for any references to Outlook. You can do this using AML Free Registry Cleaner http://www.amltools.com/ (which has a search function). Ignore any hits for Outlook Express you are only insterested in Office Outlook.

2) If this is the problem that you are having then you will find registry entries in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\7.0 or 8.0 or 9.0 etc.

3) Delete any Outlook folders in the above tree. Onc eof the keys in the Outlook folder will be Version and this appears to be what is being read when the server asks what version you have.

4) Reinstall Office - it should now work.

All the best,

Brand new external HDD, Western Digital My Book 1230 4TB, 1 week old now. When transferring files from the HDD as well as when renaming or deleting them, I get the error message:

"Item not Found; Could not find this item; This is no longer located in F:\music\[file name]. Verify the item's location and try again.",

while when transferring files to the HDD from any other location other than the drive, I get a similar:

"Item not Found; Could not find this item; This is no longer located in F:\. Verify the item's location and try again.".

The files on the drive are audio files and they cannot be played, as I get an error message: "File reading failed: could not open file "[directory]"; Your input can't be opened: [directory]"
Uninstalling the HDD's drivers through device manager, restarting the computer and then letting them reinstall seems to temporarily fix the problem, which is how I got some files onto the drive in the first place, but it always seems to come back after another reboot or occasionally during use.

I have tried using other external HDDs and they function perfectly well on my PC, and I have tested the WD My Book drive on a different PC and it doesn't seem to run into any errors over longer periods of use, even after multiple restarts of the secondary PC.

Hello,
(Following text has been translated from French)

I have two PC:
- one HP Pavilion dv7-7180sf Notebook PC, i7-3610QM CPU
- one desktop HP p6242fr, Core2 Quad CPU Q8300
This last one has a default of file association with .doc, default describes hereafter that the first does not have although they run both under Windows 7 Family Premium (64 bits) SP1 and that the version of MS Office used is the same, i.e. 2007 SP3. The two machines are regularly updated each week by Windows Update.

Description of the default (only Word of MS Office 2007 is concerned):
First of all, I must say that to open a file .doc with the Open command of the Office Button of Word does not present any problem.
However, by double clicking on a file .doc, this one opens under another application (OpenOffice or NotePad also installed on my PC) whereas the same action on the files .docx normally opens them under Word 2007.

Of course, to solve this problem consists in modifying the files association with .doc file type by using the contextual menu ?Open with?, check the text ?Always use the selected program to open this type of file??, ?Browse? the tree structure ?C: > Program Files (x86) > Microsoft Office > Office 12? and double-click on ?Winword.exe?. But surprise, Winword does not appear in the programs list of the ?Open with? window.

Hi guys,

I am new to the forum and want to post a thread hoping for some help.
I have already searched the internet, but got no good solution.

It's like this: My company has now the Windows 7 rollout. 99% of the clients are x64.
We are using Office 2007.
Since the rollout, multiple users complained that they got the error "Could not open clipboard." in Excel when they are copying cells. I get the error too.

It appears exactly at the point where I press CTRL+C. It does not appear every time (I am able to copy and paste cells 10 times and the next time, the error appears). I can click the error away, but I have to copy the cells again. I never get the error 2 times in a row.

There are also colleagues with same hardware and software configuration. One of them might get the error, the other one not.

We never get this error on our Windows XP x86 machines. Only on Windows 7 x64. Even though we use the same Office 2007 version.

I recently upgraded to Office 2010...all was fine until recently i had this weird problem in Power Point '10.

I added an Entrance effect to a picture quite easily...but when I tried to add an Exit effect I found out that the Entrance effect was being overwritten in the "Animation Pane".
Again on re-adding the Entrance effect..the Exit effect was being overwritten.

FYI this is happening with everything (pics, text boxes, smart art).It seems you can't add two different effects to the same item.
It should be noted that I experienced no such problems with Power Point 2007...there the Entry and Exit effects were added in separate lines in the Animation Pane.

Any help would be appreciated.

I have a user who gets insufficient resources errors at random times during the day.

browsing to her network drives, causes this error. The drive is not displayed.
Printing causes this error. The document does not print
She basically, can't do anything.
The system has 2gb of memory, not a ton, but taskmgr shows there is lots of room there, CPU usage also isn't high.
Programs usually running are
Autocad 2008
Outlook 2007
and random programs.
pdf documents in Acrobat Pro
Internet Explorer 8

I close out Outlook 2007, and the error goes away, she is able to print and continue as normal.
I open Outlook 2007 back up, and she is running fine for a while.

I remember older versions of Office creating a memory leak, which was addressed in patches and service packs, but I didn't think a memory leak issue existed in 2007.

I often receive emails from my Pet Lover community that have images embedded in the body. I have a special email folder on my desktop into which I used to be able to download the pictures by selecting "view in browser" from my Outlook 2007 menu bar. Google Chrome would display all the images and I would download from there.

All of a sudden, when I select that command, all I get is text. It's almost as if I am looking at the source. I've uploaded a .doc file with the screen shot of what I get from that command.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I know I could copy each and paste into Paint, then crop, save, etc., etc.. I simply don't have the time for all the extra steps.

Thanks.

Hello there,

Outlook 2007 Imap account can't get the new items synced in to its "Inbox" folder. Other imap folders are up to date. The problem is only with Inbox.

The newly arrived items on webmail's inbox are not appeared in my outlook's inbox. When I move it to any other folder on webmail, then it reflects in outlook. (I mean its only outlook's inbox that stopped syncing, while all other subscribed folders do)

The 'updating cached messages' task shows the count as per webmail's inbox count, but it wont actually update all of them. For eg, there are 1500 items in webmail's inbox & outlook's inbox has got just 1000, the task while running shows as 'updating cached messages x/1500' and once the count reaches 1000/1500, it ends.

When an item is deleted from outlook's inbox, it reflects on webmail & similarly when deleted on webmail, its deleted on outlook's inbox as well. The only thing is outlook inbox, which no longer receives new mail.

Have spent ample of time to identify the issue but no luck yet. There are 100+ systems in the network with same setup and this issue is observed in about 8-10 pcs as of now. When the account is reconfigured there is no issue. So the problem is linked to outlook profile or pst which we couldnt figure out & find a fix.

System Spec:
XP SP3 on core2duo with 4GB of Ram, Office 2007 Standard, Symantec Endpoint Protection.

Have anybody experienced this?
Appreciate your help!!

I have Windows XP and am using Office 2007. A week ago my Outlook calendar started showing the wrong date. Today is showing as 11/13/09 and it's 11/19/09. My inbox is grouping my email in "Next week" (It should list it as "today"). All todays outgoing email is dated 11/13/09 on the receiver's end (so my clients don't think they've received it because their email program is filing it under 11/13/09. All incoming email has the right date on it. My sent file has the wrong date. This is bizarre! Please somebody help me.....

Happening to a certain user, Outlook keeps forcing the user to "download" before opening the actual email and this only happens when the email has attachments. It does not download or open the attachments though. I made sure the Trust Settings are set to prompt before downloading anything.

Answer:Why does Outlook 2007 "download" before opening emails w/ attachments?

Hi -

I'm having some trouble with Outlook XP (2002) and Exchange 2007 and haven't been able to find a solution elsewhere.

Basically, I get a message when I try to log on telling me that the server is down or that there's a network problem. (The exact text is: "Unable to display the folder. Microsoft Outlook could not access the specified folder location. The Microsoft Exchange Server computer is not available. Either here are network problems or the Microsoft Exchange Server computer is down for maintenance.")

To get around this, I have to:

1) delete my mail account
2) re-create my mail account,
and
3) restart Outlook.

Going through this process will allow me to read my mail and access the calendar until I stop Outlook, at which time I need to go through this entire process again.

Another potential symptom of the problem is that if I put a name in as the exchange server in the mail setup window, this whole process doesn't work -- I actually have to put in the IP address. When I click "next" the address is replaced with the name (e.g., "EX03"), which might be related to why it doesn't work the next time I try to start Outlook).

Any help/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Answer:Solved: Outlook XP (2002) vs Exchange 2007 -- reports "not available"

Sounds like a DNS issue, for some reason it is having problems resolving the hostname to the IP. Make an entry if your HOSTS file for the server.

Working on a fresh installation of Win7 Ultimate and Office 2007 Ultimate.

Got Outlook installed and setup with my mail accounts (this is the first time I'm using Outlook - moved from Thunderbird) and it synced with my phone and all seemed to be right with the world.

Then I tried to send an email message. It gives me the error: "the operation failed. an object cannot be found." and the message goes to the "Outlook" folder in the Personal Folders (even though I told it to send sent mail to another folder).

This is an GMail IMAP account in Outlook 2007. I've been googling and it might have something to do with Offline Address Books, but the instructions for rebuilding them are to open Exchange Service Manager or something like that... I don't have that.

Can someone help me out on this issue? If I can't send mail, obviously that's a killer, but I'd really like to use Outlook because I have a WinMo phone and need to sync the calendar and tasks and so on.

Thanks.

Hi -

Hoping you can help me. I need to set up an Outlook 2007 rule for marking all incoming mail as read, but it must reside on the exchange server.

The issue is that we need to ensure that all files that are incoming to this particular mailbox are marked as read to prevent them from repeatedly ftp'ing a file to an application server. This is an unmanned mailbox. I've read several forums that say the "Mark as Read" rule can only be set up client side.

Anyone know if that is correct? Or... have any suggestions?

Hi I run Windows Vista Home Premium and Outlook 2007. I've set up POP3 access for Gmail and to download mail from mail.bigpond.com (an Australian ISP). Initial setup was fine and I can send test messages to myself.

Recently I've had trouble sending (but not receiving) email via Outlook. The following error message is shown:

Sending' reported error (0x80042109) : 'Outlook cannot connect to your outgoing (SMTP) email server. If you continue to receive this message, contact your server administrator or Internet Service Provider (ISP).

This message occurs for both my email accounts.

If I reboot the computer, then sometimes the mail will be sent successfully. I've checked the "account settings" on Outlook- and they are exactly as those given by my ISP/Gmail. But when I click on "test account settings", the test message can't be sent.

What's going on?!

Answer:Outlook 2007 "Sending reported error"- can receive mail but can't send!!

Angela,

Refer to the earlier query in this section dated 10th April under heading " OE suddenly asking for Logon Password" which shows possible ways of overcoming this . I reckon it's server problem as I had it re-occur a couple of days ago . My Mail is Btinternet which started rejecting my outward messages. I know that BT uses Yahoo so Isubstituted "mail.yahoo.com" for "mail.btinternet.com" ( OE/Tools/Accounts/Properties/Servers) and it immediately started working . So whatever the ISP says it IS their fault and somehow their systems start rejecting things for no valid reason .

Answer:I cannot open "my computer" "control panel" "recycle bin", etc...

You may want to reinstall the operating system.

Backupthe files that are importantto you before you reinstall.

The "New" installation will overwrite the current one

If you do not format your hard drive before the reinstall the installation should not harm your files (That's why I suggest backingup your files) and will speed up the installation process.

I am hoping that someone can help me with what may be a complex question.

I have a spreadsheet, similar to the demonstration file I have attached. In it, there are a range of columns. One set of columns (A - D), shows a list of numbers that are references to items in a store, and it also shows their location in the store, so it acts as a floor-plan. The next column (E) lists those items again to show the dollar amount that those items have produced in total sales (F).

So, what I'd like to do is to add a conditional formatting to show me the "cold" and "hot" spots on the floor-plan so I can see where sales are most concentrated. I would assume that this would be done with a colour scale (using the range of values in column F to work itself out)?

Either way, the figures in column F would change weekly, so the relevant cells in columns A - D would need to automatically change when they're matching cells in column E - F change.

I hope this makes sense, as it's difficult to explain, but any help that someone could provide would be greatly appreciated.

Outlook 2007 "Enter Network Password prompt" and wont retrieve emails. I have already deleted and reset the account & have changed ISP email password so we know it's the right PW, sort of at a loss right now. Any help greatly appreciated TY in advance.

Answer:Outlook 2007 "Enter Network Password prompt" and wont retrieve emails

Removing and setting the account back up was the right move. Some people swore a reboot was needed after this was done.

Just to be 100% on the password, try going to a web service like mail2web.com and see if you can retrieve your email. At least then you're sure the email and password are working just to eliminate the obvious.

I also read that if your mail servers settings are "mail.yourisp.com" for example, remove the mail.

Are you accessing the mail from multiple devices? That can cause an issue.

I belong to a large group that I send out emails to occasionally. Outlook 2007 on my Vista computer will not let me send to the whole group in one email. I have to split it into about 6 different emails to get it to go. When I was using Outlook 2000 on XP I did not have to do this. What setting can I use to force Outlook 2007 to accept all the addresses I want to enter so I just have to send my newsletter one time?

In a related question...Outlook 2007 will also hang up and not send the email to my group IF there is one email some where in the group that it does not like.
TWO QUESTIONS:
1) is there a way to force the email to go even if there is one bad address in the group and just bounce back an error message on the problem email?

2) Is there a way to make it tell me which email it has a problem with so I can manually remove it? Outlook Express will at least kick back a helpful error message and tell me what email address is causing a problem so I can just remove that name to make the email go to the rest of the people.

Thank you,
Cindy

New Dell 530 computer, new Office Pro package installed by Dell. Everything works pretty smoothly so far, but every time I open Outlook (not Outlook Express), I get a message "A data file did not close properly the last time it was used and is being checked for problems. Performance might be affected while the check is in progress." I can still check email, appointments, etc, but it works in the background and sometimes interferes with the keyboard or mouse. And if the program is open long enough, it reports a message "data file check complete." It's not a huge issue but is very annoying. Any ideas?

I'm trying to determine if there is a way to reset Outlook 2007 to a state where it has effectively never-EVER-not-even-ONCE been opened. The /firstrun switch is not sufficient. Removal of profiles from the mail applet in control doesn't actually make it like it's never been run either.

This is a domain environment and, when clicked the very first time, Outlook displays "Configuring Outlook Accounts" and then automatically jumps from there to requesting the user's full name and initials. No requests for settings, no "welcome", none of that.

I need Outlook to be in that state once again without having to completely re-install the OS and everything else from scratch just so Outlook has never actually been clicked on.

Is this possible? Any help is much appreciated....

We have a user who is trying to save an Outlook email (as a .msg), but when she tries to save, she gets the following error: "There is not enough free memory to run this program. Quit one or more programs, and then try again." Outlook is the only program she is running.

Note: The email she is having a problem saving was sent by a user outside our organization. When I had her try to save an email that I sent her from within our organization, it worked. It could it be that the sender used a different version of Outlook when creating their message...could that cause this error?

Thanks.

WinXP Pro SP3 - Office 2007 - the owner of this PC uses both Outlook Express (OE) and Outlook for email. Why? Who knows. OE is working fine, but all incoming mail messages in Outlook are listed twice in the Inbox. Outgoing messages are sent just fine. I've never been a fan of Outlook (or OE for that matter) as it seems to be cumbersome and problematic (IMO rolleyes ). Anyway - I haven't had much success Googling this problem; I can't quite come up with the right set of serch terms.... so - why the heck are all incoming messages listed twice in the Outlook Inbox??? And how do I get it back to single listings?

Thanks!

Hey all,

The basic problem I'm having is that Outlook 2007 is insisting on having two "default" PST files. It doesn't matter which PST files they are, but it insists on two of them--which results in two email inboxes, two calendars, etc. It's annoying and confusing. I've driven myself crazy looking for a fix, but nothing seems to help--I only ever manage to make things worse by screwing with accounts, files, etc. I've re-installed Office, I've tried deleting one of the files, I've tried re-creating my "mail" account with the same email address. If I add a new PST file, I can make it a default, but it just replaces one of the others--and then I'm still dealing with two total. For once, Google doesn't turn up anything--I can't find anyone who's had this same problem. The OS is Windows 7, 32-bit. The problem started when the PST file got moved around when I was switching out my office's old shared drive for a new one, if that's relevant.

I'd greatly, greatly appreciate any help. Thanks a ton in advance. Let me know if there's any information I should've given that I haven't. I can provide screen shots if that'd help anyone help me.

Answer:Outlook 2007 insists on two "default" PST files

Rename one of the .pst files. Now when you go back in delete whichever one you don't want. Alternatively, create a new Profile and give it a shot.

Been searching for this one for a bit. Found loads on Blank Reading Pane however this is slightly different.

Have a home user who some messages are not displaying in the reading pane. These are mainly from Facebook and some various ones from their work colleagues.

When choosing reply message is also blank however selecting Office Button > Editor Options > Display > Hidden Text (checked) the message content appears.

Why then is the message content not visible in the main preview pane? These are just the simple message notifications such as from facebook.

Looked at fonts / mail format (tried all variences) to no avail.

Any help appreciated.

Cheers

I recently built a call log database in Access 2007 for my team to use when calling agents on our top errors we see from a vendor's error report. My boss is requesting a report to see how many items have been resolved

I have a query started and I am trying to complete this task in a single query (if possible) instead of several queries (as I've done for a couple other things).

I have 3 tables I'm using: Assignment, AgtInfo and CallLog
Joins as follows: Assignment.st=AgtInfo.agcy_st
AgtInfo.agt_id=CallLog.agt_id

Fields in the results: Assignment.assigned_analyst, CallLog.rpt_mnth, CallLog.resolved

Resolved is a yes/no field. I've done a query that converts the -1 to a 1, so that the sum is a positive number for the "Yes" values. I'm not sure how to enter the expression to subract the "Yes" values from the total number of values (yes/no) to get to my "No" count.

Essentially, I'd like the results to display as:

assigned_analyst, rpt_mnth, CountYes_resolved, CountNo_resolved

Somehow the connection is just not clicking in my brain with everything I've read though searches. Any help is appreciated! Thanks!

My system crashed recently and I have had to restore everything. I reinstalled Outlook 2007 and was able to restore my PST file from a backup I had using the genie backup product. All my files and folders are now restored.

Any suggestions?

This problem started out on one of the machines in my office, now it's happening on several of them.

Machine config:
- Outlook 2007
- POP account
- antivirus regularly running/updating/scanning

Symptoms:
- User is running outlook like normal, then all the sudden Outlook gets stuck "Preparing to send / receive". Clicking the Send/Receive button does nothing, and it just sits there forever, apparently never actually making contact with the servers or doing anything at all.

My fix:
- I have to close down Outlook, but that's not enough.
- Open task manager, even though Outlook is closed, there is still an instance of it running on the machine.
- Manually close that extra instance, restart Outlook.

Then all the sudden it works, it sends and receives just fine. I thought the first user may have had a virus, but I've scanned ALL the machines in our office with Symantec Antivirus and nothing came up.

Also, this doesn't appear to ever happen on the two machines in the office who are running IMAP accounts.

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!

I have searched the net repeatedly looking for a fix to this issue. I seem to only get solutions for Office 2007/Win XP combinations or Vista/Office 2003 combinations but I need a solution for Office 2007 on a Vista system.

Error:

Task '[email protected] - Sending' reported error (0x8007000E) : 'Out of memory or system resources. Close some windows or programs and try again.'

Task '[email protected] - Receiving' reported error (0x8007000E) : 'Out of memory or system resources. Close some windows or programs and try again.'

What I have tried already:

Delete and recreate Outlook profileUninstall and re-install Office 2007 (cleaned all registry entries also)Used ScanPST.exe and ScanOST.exeDeleted all email accounts and re-added
I thought there might be a firewall issue since Windows Mail works fine but I found out that Windows Mail uses internet settings and not ports like Outlook.
This issue is driving me nuts since I used Windows Mail for about a week now and it's childsplay compared to Outlook!

I know my machine has the specs needed to run WAY more resource hungry apps:

Intel Quad Core Q6600 (2.40GHz)3GB RamMaxtor 300GB SATAII 7200RPM

I even killed all other apps besides Outlook and I still get the same issue.
Any help/feedback/counseling/therapy/bullets/bucket of water would be greatly appreciated

Thanks.

When I click on FORWARD and then add the recipients email address(s) and then click SEND, the message happily goes to the OUTBOX and sits there forever!

Trying to re-forward it does not work and the only way is to copy the contents and paste to a new message and then away it goes quite happily.

Very annoying - wonder waht is causing this?

What happens when you click on "send and receive" when a forwarded message is in the outbox?

So, I set up a Windows 7 pc for my boss (who has been using XP since it came out) and to not completely lose him I installed Outlook 2007. Everything transferred over fine. The problem I am running into is that when he sends emails some of them are not reaching the recipients.

It is completely random and they are not getting hung up in the outbox they are indeed in the "sent" folder. I ran scanpst to no avail.

Any advice? Like I said the bulk of messages are going through it is just random ones that are not. It is indiscriminate whether there are attachments or who the recipient is.

When running outlook 2007 on my Vista Home Basic, Acer Travelmate 5620, i get the following error:
"MSVCR80.dll was not found" and outlook will not open

i searched the net, and apparently its a problem native to those running office 2007, on acers with Norton. however, uninstalling Norton often doesnt help. I did however find the solution! (well it worked for me anywayz )

Open MS Word
Click on the Office Orb in the upper left of the screen
Click Word Options
Click Resources
Click Diagnose

MS Office will then run some scans and after about 5 minutes, the issue is corrected. Works very nicely.

It took me a long time to find this in Office 2007, but once I found it I figured that there is no better program to fix it then itself. Try it and you will be pleased, I have not had this issue since running this fix.

Hi guys,

I have got a laptop with a fresh instal of W7 Pro x64 on it. When I try to install Office 2007 Enterprise or Office Pro Plus 2010 on it the setup tries to start but then crashes with "Microsoft Office Setup has stopped working". This occurs when it actually tries to install, I can go through entering CD key, choosing install location and what to install no problem.

I have tried installing from a downloaded ISO as well in case the disks were in bad condition but exactly the same issue occured.

Any help much appreciated.

I borrowed this code from the Northwind database to use on an "Open" command off a list form. I used it in several databases and it was working find until one day I come in to work and it seems to have almost randomly quit working on just some of my databases. I am attaching a pdf. of screen shots to show how I used the code and the error messages. I'm really baffled. Oh - and a database that is getting this error message at my office works fine when I take it home on my external hard drive.

Guys

I'm not sure if I've posted the right at the right place, but still........ I want to know that "" How do I change the "Open Settings" found in the Computer tab of the File Explorer to "Open Control Panel" ""

I have a screenshot of that:
I want to change it because I have a habit of having that "Open Control Panel" there as in Windows 8.1 for the reason that the Settings is just an app reference to the original Control Panel and many advanced settings are referred to Control Panel.

And I'm lazy to type "Co" everytime in Cortana to open Control Panel.

Awaiting for replies.....

Answer:How do I change "Open Settings" in Explorer to "Open Control Panel"

Welcome to TenForums @Preetkaran

We have a tutorial for that...
Show Control Panel or Settings on Win+X Menu in Windows 10

But I haven't bothered. Instead I found Control Panel in the Start menu's 'All apps > Windows system' and pinned it to Start. The advantage of having it pinned to Start is that a right-click on the tile shows a 'Recent' jumplist for it, all your frequently used Control Panel settings in one convenient place.

I am running Windows Vista Business SP1 and Excel Enterprise 2007. I work in finance, so having all of Excel's keyboard shortcuts available is critical to me. I often use the shortcut [ctrl]+1, which pops up the "format cell" window. However, this shortcut does not work anymore for me. All my other [ctrl]+ shortcuts work well, however, so I am confused as to what is causing the problem.

Can anyone help? Thanks in advance.

I have a nested "IF" statement that inlcudes the "OR" function because I have more than 7 logical tests. One of the logical tests looks for two fields to be true in order to return the "value if true". If either or both fields are false, then the "value if false" is returned, in this case zero. When the value of the first field is correct, but the value of the second field is not correct, zero is returned, which is the "value if false" and a correct return.

However, when both fields are false, the formula is returning the word "FALSE" instead of zero.

The attached file shows these returns and the formulas. Cells F2-7 are corrrect returns (highlighted in green), while cells F8-11 are not correct returns (highlighted in red).

Any ideas on how to return the "value if false" (zero) in cells F8-11 would be appreciated.

Today I noticed that MS PPT would not open an e-mail attachment. It gave a message MS Office PPT has stopped working... I tried opening MS Word, same fault. Ran MS Office Tools Diagnostics and could not find any problems. Clicking on further help button yielded a Internet explorer can not connect to web site... I have a good connection with everything else. I then uninstalled MS Office Pro 2007, then reinstalled. Unfortunately even after upload of Office SP2, when I try to open Word, Excell or Power Point, I again get the "has stopped working correctly..." message. What should I do now?

I've just re-installed Office 2007 on Vista Ultimate x64, and when I imported the PST that I exported from Office 2003 (that was on my XP machine), it froze, and I had to use Task Manager to close it.

Now, when I open Office 2007, it just "freezes". I check task manager, and it's using 25% CPU resources (100% of one of the cores on my Phenom Quad). I can't click anything. I can't move the window around. Nothing. And it does not show "Not Responding" as is usual when a program crashes in Vista.

SCANPST shows no erros in the PST files.

How do I fix this?

Answer:Outlook 2007 "Freezes"

Out of curiosity, have you ever let it run just to see if it will sort itself out? (Oh, and in the text of the post, you mean Outlook, not Office, right?)

I had the issue with Outlook once when I had corrupted the file and it had to sort itself out. 2 minutes later, it was fine and the problem hasn't recurred.

Also, do you have all the Office updates (there have been quite few)?

If not, I'll look around for a few things. I wonder if they changed format from 2003 to 2007 so that they aren't really compatible. Or, maybe that's what's going on; some of the conversions can take awhile, especially if your file is big (think of how long it can take to convert a large .docx to .doc).

Anyway, if you could give me that information, I'll get to work on solving this one for you.

Normally when you try to send an email from a link from firefox via "file->send link", your default email program automatically opens assuming it's not already open. If Outlook 2010 is already open, no problem; it works fine. If it's closed, I get the error below about a dll error telling me to reinstall outlook 2010. if I manually open Outlook, I can then email the link.

If I insert the Office 2010 disc to try a repair, I get an other error (below) saying 2003 was not uninstalled properly and to uninstall it before I can do the repair (gotcha-catch22-can't get there from here, etc....). I see nothing in add/remove to indicate there is a trace of Office 2003 remaining. I can send screen shots of the registry if desired, but see nothing there indicating 2003 was not removed fully, but could be wrong. I'm fine with surgical edits if necessary.

I've been running Office 2010 for a year with no other problems beyond this and it's possible this existed from day 1 and it just took me a while to notice it..

Any suggestion on how to either fix the dll issue directly, or deal with the 2003 uninstall hopefully without uninstalling 2010 and starting over?

Thanks.

I'm using Outlook 2010 for work emails. The program will run fine for an hour or so opening email attachments in a matter of a second or two, then all of a sudden it starts to take 15 to 20 seconds to open an "unread" attachment. An attachment that has already been opened will open quickly anytime.

I've tried disabling add ons. I've tried using CCCleaner to clean out the computer as well as it's registry scanner. I've tried deleting all of my other emails, saved, sent or deleted, so there are only a few in Outlook and nothing has helped. The only way that it will function properly again for a short period of time is if I shut down my computer completely and restart. Then, I'm in that same perpetual loop of working great for a little while, then it starts opening email attachments slow again.

Any ideas?

Answer:"Unread" email attachments open slow-Outlook 2010

I appreciate your response very much. I did try that and it didn't seem to help.

I'm going to throw a wrench in this and probably cause a lot more confusion, but I've recently found something that appears to have something to do with the problem. This computer is hardwired (ethernet) into a wireless router. About once or twice in a 10 hour period during the day, the router somehow disconnects the internet. I have to turn the router off for 15 seconds and it comes back up along with the internet everytime. For some reason, I've noticed that just before (and I'm talking 15 to 30 mins. before) the router disconnects the internet, the email attachments begin to open slow. As soon as I reset the router, the email attachments open normally.

Go figure? I honestly can't see how one has anything to do with the other, but I'm about 99 & 9/10's sure that the problem goes hand in hand with the router disconnecting. I've just recently (in the last few days) noticed this and have been monitoring and experimenting with it. So far, it happens everytime.

Last night a popup message from McAfee told me that Dell Security center was trying to access the internet. I was in the midst of downloading and reading email, and being a dummy, I gave one-time permission.

Soon afterward, I began to suspect a virus, as I received a virus notification popup and an email from my ISP re: a deleted virus. As I was deleting items from my inbox, Outlook Express froze. I tried restarting, and OE hangs on the inbox and hogs 96%+ system resources.

This morning, my ISP program showed an error and my Antivirus was corrupted. I did a system restore and redownloaded the antivirus, which solved my problem with getting on the 'net. I've scanned and come up with nothing and downloaded a special scan and remove tool (Stinger) from McAfee for the virus it warned me about yesterday....Sober, I think. But still, OE hangs up on the Inbox and I can't read or remove or access the toolbar. It says "no email selected."

Any ideas?

In Outlook 2007, when I right click on an item in the navigation pane, such as a folder, or "Contacts" and select "Open in New Window" the new window size is too small and I have to resize it every time.

I've searched the posts here, found some similar issues posted, but none with a solution that I can make work for this issue.

I've tried:
- resizing the window and clicking on the top right "x" to close it.
- resizing the window, moving back to the first window, closing the first window, then clicking on the top right "x" to close the resized window.
- resizing the window, holding "Ctrl" key and clicking on the top right "x" to close it.
- resizing the window, holding "Shift" key and clicking on the top right "x" to close it.
- resizing the window, holding "Alt" key and clicking on the top right "x" to close it.
- Other variations of the above.

There is something that has changed the window size setting, because it has changed twice in the last few months, but I cannot figure out what it is.

My OS is Windows Vista Ultimate 64-bit running on an HP Pavilion laptop.

I am having the same problem that the person that posted below. Does anyone have a solution to the problem? I have done the same that is described below. Thanks in advance.

I am suddenly unable to open Outlook 2003 - I get the following error messages: "The extension configuration file "C:\Program Fils\Microsoft Office\Office11\ADDINS\msspc.ecf could not be installed. There is an error in the syntax or format of the file."; then, "The extension configuration file "C:\PROGRA~1\MICROS~3\Pffice11\addins\MSSPC.ECF could not be installed. There is an error in the syntax or format of the file."; then, "The file folder in "MSSPC.ECF" is missing or not valid. This problem may be resolved by using Detect and Repair in the Help menu.", then, "Cannot start MS Outlook. Unable to open the Outlook window." The problem appeared on the first reboot after a dowload of an update from Microsoft. Among other things, tried uninstalling and reinstalling MS Office, replacing the file, and running Detect and Repair from the installation CD, but to no avail. I'm a bit nervous about editing the Registry to change the path so did not attempt that. OS is XP. Any suggestions? Thx., piecd[/QUOTE]

When you open other user's folder in Oulook. It show's the previous 5 users you opened. I would like to know a way to clear this from Outlook.

It's like the "Recent" folders in Windows. It shows the previous files you opened. Then you can go to the "Recent" folders and delete your tracks.

Hi TechGuy,

I'm having some recent problems on my laptop. When I log-in and start using it, the performance starts slowing down. When I look at the Task Manager, I notice that the task called Explorer.exe takes up a lot of my CPU. In a couple of minutes, I also start getting Internet Explorer windows to pop-up on my screen (I normally use Firefox) with advertisements suggesting that my computer is infected and some software downloads that could help. I recently installed McAfee Total Works, or whatever they call their 10-in-1 software which is supposed to do it all. I ran several scans, and on some of them, if did find and disable the Generic.dx trojan. Even though it claims it is doing something, I don't notice any changes - Explorer.exe continues to bog me down, and the IE windows keep popping up to the point that I cannot use my computer effectively anymore.

IBM T-40 laptop (about three and a half years old)
Microsoft XP-Professional

Any pointers would be truly appreciated!!

Thanks,
Sandjosh
