Solved: Outlook 2007 deleting read emails

Question: Solved: Outlook 2007 deleting read emails

MS Outlook 2007 automatically deletes emails once they are read. The only way to save them is to move them to a folder other than the inbox. I felt there was probably a setting for this but I have been unable to find it. My older version of Outlook did not do this and I am at a loss. Thanks!!

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Please help. I am running Outlook 2007 using BT Connect as an exchange server. All my emails are on the server but outlook only seems to keep 7 days of emails locally. I have checked the settings but can not see where the emails would be deleted. Help.

I'm a an IT consultant for a public relations company who lives and (hopefully not) dies for their email. What some of the users are experiencing are issues relating to the inability to delete random email messages. There's no rhyme or reason for it, at least it seems that way to me. This could be any particular message; so it's sporatic in nature. I interact directly with the CEO who has this problem most often.

Before I go too far let me say that they connect virtually to an Exchange 2007 server over their WAN connection. They don't own their own Exchange server. They have had this trouble in the past so what I've been doing is to delete and re-create the user profile of the user who is having the problem. Then the user re-synchs with the Exchange server and is back in business. This seems to help but the problem reappears again after some time; (no time frame for that). Some of these folks have rather large OST (not PST) files. In fact, the CEO's OST file is over 9 GBs. Well, back in the day when I worked at AT&T, if we had a client with a 2 GB pst file, Microsoft would not even support you. These days however, starting with Outlook 2003, PST and OST files can be much bigger; how much bigger is the question.

So, if anyone has ever experienced such a thing and found a solution, I'm all ears.

Thanks for any help you might be able to provide.

i have office 2007 using outlook and when i delete emails one by one because i need to read them and confirm i can delete them. it seems after deleting like 10 or so the Focus higlhight of the email moves back up to the top of the inbox and i have to take the mouse and move it back to the one i was looking at or i push the down arrow key to get me back to were i was. WHY does outlook do this. the view i have is Window view on the bottom and emails above this window in category just emails no preview pane.

Answer:outlook 2007, deleting emails one by one focus moves to top

Outlook does a re-indexing of the Folder just like Windows Explorer/File Explorer sometimes will, just refreshing its 'mind'. There's not been much change in that process over the past versions. A couple of my Webmail accounts do the same and that's with messages on their Server.

When I read an email and click delete, it is suppose to go into my DELETED folder. When I go to my DELETED folder, all it shows is the unread emails. I am sure I did this by choosing some option when I first set this up....I am new to Outlook but now I can't figure out how to undo it. I want to be able to see my 'read' emails. Thank you for any help you can give this 'older' lady.

I received an email from a friend last Saturday. I read it on Sunday from my Outlook inbox but did nothing with it. On Monday I went to reply but it had disappeared. I have repeatedly checked deleted items and everywhere else in Outlook and can't find it. Someone else who used my laptop on Sunday denies having done anything with the email. Can it have really disappeared without human intervention?
Thanks in anticipation....

Answer:Can read emails in Outlook 2007 automatically disappear?

Depending on your email provider, and the Outlook settings, you may still be able to access the email on the provider's webmail page. For example, if you read BT emails through Outlook, going to and logging in there will show all emails received. BUT, if Outlook is not setup to leave mail on the server, they may not be there.

NOt in deleted file, not in sent and not in inbox. Is Outlook randomly deleting certain type of messages? It's so weird.

Our primary e:mail is an AOL address. The other two people in our office look at our e:mail accounts through Outlook. I always go directly to the server on my pc. My boss has Outlook 2007 on his Sony VAIO. Since he got home from being gone for the entire summer, I have been experiencing problems seeing e:mail in the AOL server inbox. The best I can determine, is somehow, once he reads e:mail from Outlook on his laptop, that message is being deleted from the AOL server so I never see them. If I'm sitting here at work and a message flows in to the mailbox and I open it before he does, it stays in my inbox but if he gets to it first, although I see that there are 2 or 3 or whatever "new" e:mail available, I cannot pull them in to the Inbox at my pc. (We work out of his house and after I leave for the day and he continues to read e:mail - when I come in the next morning I have no new e:Mail since the last one I saw when I left the night before!!) I've gone into his Outlook and made sure that the "delete from server" after moving to a different folder option is not checked but the problem still occurs. I'm baffled that I may be on the wrong track but it definitely seems to be connected to him looking at e:mail first through Outlook 2007. We all use XP as our operating system. Thanks for any help.

Hi. A client of mine wanted me to give her outlook. she didn't have a key. So I had to uninstall the old version and reinstall 2010. Later she told me she needed old emails.

Where are they stored or does the program delete them? Thanks so much.

Answer:Solved: Uninstalled Outlook 2007 where are the old emails

They are stored in a separate location from the application itself.
For Outlook, they are stored in a 'PST' file (filename.pst)

It will be hidden, so do search for all files with criteria *.pst, ensuring that the search includes hidden files.

You may find, however, that it's been overwritten by the PST file created for the new Outlook installation, especially if it was installed on the same user account as the old version was. I can't be sure since I've never had occasion to find out, I've always kept a PST backup file of my own on a separate partition.

I use at work 1 desktop PC and 1 laptop. Both of them have Outlook 2007. Starting last week something strange started to happen. The laptop donloads the emails from server and delets them. They are no longer available for the desktop Outlook.

If i use only the desktop PC i can see the emails ok. I work with them and everything is ok. When i open the laptop and press the"Send/Receive" button magic happens. Emails dissapear from my inbox on the desktop PC and i can only see them on laptop.

If i use only the laptop i can see the emails. If i start the desktop after that no emails are available since laptop downloaded and deleted them from the server.

Some friend told me to go to: Tools -> Account Settings - > select my account and press Change -> More Settings -> go in the Advanced tab and check "keep emails on server" or "do not delete emails from server".

Problem is i have no such check boxes in the Advanced tab.

I have:
-Cached Exchange Mode settings
-Mailbox mode (Unicode mode against Microsoft Exchange)

Anything i can do so the laptop Outlook stops deleting the emails from server?

Thank you

I've been able to create a custom map to bring in my customers information from ACT into Outlook 2007. Seems that there is no email field in the contact info D/B of act, I'm guessing and I think I'm right in figuring that the emails are kept in a seperate D/B file.

The options to import that file either delete data the client needs, create duplicate entries in the Outlook Contact List or don't bring the data in at all. To him not having the email is not an option.

Other than buying an expensive upgrade to a piece of s/w he's trying to stop useing, adnd then buying s/w to import that data, is thre an easier way?

I have a client who uses Office Outlook 2007 (which I recently installed over her old Outlook 97) for her email. It's been working perfectly for almost two months. However about two weeks ago, she realized the program will not send emails.

I've tried this method (and other variations of it following the same principle), but it has not helped. Furthermore, I've tried turning off Avira Antivir Guard to stop it from scanning incoming or outgoing messages. That didn't help either.

I would prefer not contacting the email provider unless absolutely necessary as I doubt this is an issue on their part. Could anyone help me get this working?

Can someone please tell me how to remove vertical "forwarded lines" from an email received created in HTML, where the email also contains images/graphics?

I do recall that in order to eliminate forward line or characters from an email that is only text, you simply change the email to Plain Text which effectively eliminates these annoying lines/marks. However when you adopt this method with an email that contains pictures, all pictures get eliminated as well.

Can you help?

Answer:Solved: Outlook 2007/Vista Home Premium SP2 - Remove Forwarding Lines from emails

Hi coineeze

This is for an email that has been forwarded to you? Not an email that you are forwarding?
Did you try copying the content to the right of the forwarding bars and pasting it into a new message that is Formatted to be HTML?
A Google search does show some Freeware programs that are designed to do just that.

I have never used them as I just edit my emails, if necessary.

Hi Guys,

first post, I have tried searching to find a solution to this problem, but couldn't find anything.

Basically one of the guys at work here is having trouble with his Outlook deleting random(well not entirely but will get to that) emails.

this is the situation, he checks his email on his iphone, or webmail and there are emails there. (doesnt matter if he reads them or just sees the headers) he then gets to work opens outlook and they are not there. In terms of what emails aren't coming through seems to be random senders, but all of the senders emails.

We can see the emails in "recover deleted items" but once they are recovered they just get instant deleted again (you dont even see them in the inbox).

he is on windows 7 and we are using outlook 2007.
not sure what exchange server we are running, if its relevant let me know and ill work it out.

Answer:Outlook Express deleting emails

Normal behaviour with Outlook Express is to connect to the mail server, check for new messages, download them and then delete them from the server. They will therefore no longer be available using webmail, but should remain in the Outlook Express "Inbox". Is this what is happening? It is possible to configure Outlook Express to leave messages on the server, so that they can be retrieved again with a different computer or accesses by webmail.

I would usually say that you do not have outlook set to delete them off the server after downloading them but later you say they are not still on Google mail. This is perplexing but just in case, see settings in Outlook and make sure it is set to delete mail off server after downloading. Also clean out trash/deleted item folder in Outlook, Recycle Bin in Windows, and run Disk Clean Up. Then restart the machine. You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.

I have recently had a complete computer crash and had to reinstall my programs/files etc.
Since I reinstalled office I have this problem with outlook. i have an exchange account. Prior to this outlook and my iphone reflected the information on the exchange server, so if I read and deleted an email from either my pc or iphone it deleted it from both. Now, however, if I delete from outlook, it doesn't delete from the server so it still shows on my iphone. Deleting from my iphone still has the desited effect of deleting from the server and hence outlook.

It seems that outlook will pop up a warning box only when permanently deleting emails, if I just delete a email in inbox, there are no any reminding for me . But as I have a lot of folders in outlook, it will be so much trouble to me if I delete or move a email by mistake, and want to find it back.

I use OE 6 on my desktop running XP pro, but use Outlook 2007 on my laptop running XP home. I cannot receive attachments sent from my Outlook 2007 to my OE 6 when I send it to myself. They are stripped off, not even showing an attachment. The attachment comes through to other recipients as far as I know, INCLUDING my alternate email address (through at&t). So OE 6 receives the attachment when I send it from my default email account to my at&t account, but not when I send it to from and to my default account. I have checked with my email provider, who has checked the server (IMAP) and they do not see any problem--the attachment is on the server. I have already unchecked all potential blocks under the Security Tab--image blocking and attachment blocking--and am operating in the Internet Zone. And, as far as I know, I am receiving attachments from everyone else in the world. I know there are ways to work around this problem, but it is irritating and I have concerns that my email attachments to clients may be unknowingly blocked. Also, I cannot receive those attachments on my Blackberry either.

Answer:Outlook Express 6- Deleting bulk emails.

Not sure I fully understand the problem but in OE select one e-mail, Use the CTRL + A keys together which will select all and then SHIFT + DEL keys together to get rid of them all in one go bypassing the deleted items folder. If you say that the items are still on your server and duplicated in OE, check that under the Advanced settings for that e-mail account you haven`t got the "Leave copy on server" selected.

I have Outlook 2010 running on Windows 7. I'm a remote worker and use it for my work email and on a day I can't remember making any changes (updates, downloads, etc.). After months of running perfectly, all of the sudden, deleting emails is taking up to 24 seconds each. No error message, and no other speed issues when performing any other functions. This includes Shift+Del which is lightening fast. (I'd just do this all the time, but I choose to keep my deleted emails for several months. At the end of every workday, I move them to a folder I created.)

I've been though every troubleshooting guide I can find online and even called my IT guy at work. He had me give him remote access and he tried a bunch of stuff. Nothing fixed it. He downloaded Windows Live 2012 and it does NOT have a speed issue when deleting. He did rule out any problems with my HP laptop. We are at a loss. His solution is for me to start using Windows Live, but I paid for Outlook and it makes integrating with Salesforce so easy, I want to continue using it.

I have:

zero RSS feeds
used the Control Panel to "repair"
tried safe mode with the same results/problem
disabled add-ins manually with the same results/problem
installed all critical and most recommended updates (2 security updates for Windows have repeated failed attempts)
run Microsoft FixIt

Answer:Outlook 2010 - slow when deleting emails

There are a number of variables in play here. How congested is the VPN infrastructure, with road warriors like you, what kind of hardware is your employer using for their modem, router, managed switches, speed of their connection they are paying for, how much traffic is going in and out of that connection, how are they running the Exchange server ( is it in a Virtual Machine), what kind of hardware are they running it on.

Then there is the factors of how many emails are in your inbox, in your archieve, have the system admin tried to do a Post box repair on your .PST & .OST.

Now of course, when was the last time the machine you are using, defray was ran, Disk Cleanup was also ran. How much memory is in it. What is the manufacturer & model of the computer you use?

For some reason my e-mails are disappearing in Outlook Express and the program says that other messages which have been downloaded have not been. Any idea why this could be happening??? It's very unnerving. I have a lot of e-mails that I have kept unread to come back to when I have more time. Now everything after July 2005 is gone.

Some emails sent through to my client aren't getting deleted off the server. I think there might be a problem with her Outlook Express.

Because the emails wont delete, Outlook Express keeps trying to download them and then fails...

When the email that appears to be stuffing up is deleted, the emails come through normally again until another one clogs the server.

Is it Outlook Express? Is there a known fix for this? I've asked her to run a windows update...

I've been experiencing a weird issue with Office 2010 v14.0.7173.5000 (32 bit).

Whenever I try to delete an email from my mailbox (which is stored on Exchange but cached locally to an OST file) Outlook crashes.

It generally happens on the second deletion of an email within a list - Outlook halts for a second and then crashes out, closing the application altogether.

No event logs are left by Outlook or Windows system itself.

Any help on the matter would be appreciated.

Thank you.

so I just connected outlook 07 with my gmail account, after deleting unwanted emails in outlook, the deleted emails still marked as unread and still there in my gmail account.

does any know how do I delete emails in my gmail just by using outlook?

Answer:deleting emails in outlook, not connecting with gmail

Depending on how you're connecting to gmail it may not be possible. I know it's not possible to delete emails on the web server if you're using an HTTP or IMAP connection. By default, most tutorials tell you to use IMAP and POP isn't enabled be default on a gmail account.

To Enable Pop in Gmail:

1. Sign in to Gmail.
2. Click Settings at the top of any Gmail page.
3. Click Forwarding and POP/IMAP.
4. Select Enable POP for all mail or Enable POP for mail that arrives from now on.
5. Choose what to do with your messages after they're accessed with your POP client or device.
6. Configure your POP client* and click Save Changes.

To Configure Outlook 2007 to connect via POP:

1. Enable POP in your email account. Don't forget to click Save Changes.
2. Open Outlook.
3. Click the Tools menu, and select Account Settings...
4. On the E-mail tab, click New...
5. If you are prompted to Choose E-mail Service, Select POP and then select Next.
6. Fill in all necessary fields to include the following information:
7. Click Next... You're Done. (Manual Cofiguration)

Now that you've enabled POP access via Outlook and Gmail you can set your client so that it will delete email from the server:

I am running outlook express and my OS is Xp pro. All of a sudden have difficulty deleting emails. The only way they delete is by using the shift+Delete keys. And when I delete emails from the deleted items folder, they only disappear when I close out and re-open outlook. I searched the forums and found one and tried it. I followed the instructions to compact the delelted items folder offline, but it says it is being used by another application, right at the very end. I verified this 3 times that I was working offline. Do all internet windows also need to be closed? Please help!!!

Just recently my Microsoft Outlook Express has denied me the ability to delete emails with the inevitable result that my (already) crowded hard drive will clog up and die!! My machine is a *Qosmio G20-108*.
I have been getting error messages on this software *" No: 0 x 800420CD " & "No: 800CCC0F"*

I also get +"Fatal Error"+ messages each time I open my computer saying this program will be terminated, which I "OK" as I've not opened anything ! This has been a feature for many months now.
Has anyone any hints for how I might overcome this?

Answer:Qosmio G20-108 - Outlook Express has stopped me deleting emails

Hi desneill,

I?m wondering that somebody still use Outlook Express at this time... There are many other good email programs?

Anyway, it would be interesting to know which version of Outlook Express you are using and which operating system.
Try an update of Outlook Express and Internet Explorer as well?

And think about another mail program, like Thunderbird? ;)

I just started using Outlook 2013 on my Windows 7 laptop.  and I noticed that it's deleting items from my trash folder even though the box "empty deleted items folder when exiting Outlook" is unchecked.  huh? It would make more sense if that box was checked but it is not. Is there another place to uncheck something so that my deleted emails don't get deleted?
and okay, why am I concerned about messages being deleted from the trash folder anyway? because occasionally I need to look for deleted emails.  not very often but it has happened.  so I keep some of the ones that I've deleted.  well, not any more since I just discovered this issue in the last week.
any ideas??

Answer:help with Outlook 2013 and trash folder deleting emails on its own??

I figured out a temporary work around. I checked the box and now it asks me if I want to delete the emails in my trash folder.  it's annoying to have to answer this question but at least emails aren't being deleted on their own.........for now.
would love to hear if anyone knows another way around this.  thanks in advance!!

in outlook 2010, i understand one can use a gmail account without actually opening up the gmail account, that is he can run the account from outlook, does that mean one can delete messages also, just like a regular account.
when i try to delete a message, it deletes it from the inbox of that gmail account in outlook 2010, but under the gmail folder it updates itself, and downloads it again, even after i delete it from the gmail folder also.

Answer:deleting gmail emails from outlook 2010 folder

Hallo tapuz, you may have to sign into your gmail account and delete all your old messages.
From there select settings in the top RH corner
Then select Forwarding & pop/imap tab
In the pop download column go to option 2 and in the drop down box select delete gmails copy
Then select save changes.
This will stop gmail saving a copy once Outlook has downloaded it to your computer.
I hope this solves your problem, if not post back

I am having an issue with deleting attachments in Outlook 2007.

When you open an e-mail with an attachment, the attachment will be displayed in one of two places: on its own line, just under the Subject line, or in the body of the e-mail itself.

When the attachment appears on its own line, you can simply right-click on the file and choose Remove to delete it. However, when the attachment appears in the body of the e-mail (which is most often the case), you cannot delete it (either by righ-clicking, or selecting and pressing delete).

Over time these attachments naturally cause users to run out of space on their Exchange accounts. Unfortunately, in many cases, you want to keep the e-mail, but not the attachment. Does anybody know how to delete these attachments in Outlook, or does anybody know of a plug-in or similar app that can perform this task (and is suitable to be deployed to users)?

If it was an Outlook issue, all your email messages would be equally affected, but since only some of them are affected, they are probably damaged or corrupt. Nothing you can do about that.

We recently made a switch from Office 2002 to Office 2007.

One of our administrative assistants made a booking in Outlook within a room calendar rather than using her personal calendar and adding the room as a resource. She now needs to change it to a different venue.

We can book it in the new venue. However, we cannot find a way to delete this event. (Compounding problem: This is also a recurring event for several weeks in a very busy room. So even though it's free, no one can book it, leading to several people thinking they have the room at the same time.)

In 2002, I would log on as the resource and delete it manually, but since the resource is set up as a room, I no longer have access.

Any thoughts from anyone?

how do i get the emails from my old pc into outlook 2007 on my new pc?
i can copy the pst and dbx files but are these the right ones and wht ever i seem to do i can get outlook 2007 to import the emails

thank you in advance

Answer:how do i get emails from outlook express 6 into outlook 2007?

I don't use Outlook, but I'd think the general procedure would be to:

1: Export from Outlook Express to location X

2: Open Outlook, use the import function, and navigate to location X.

Is that what you are doing?

Can you export in more than 1 format? If so, try another format.

It's also a good idea to make manual copies of all of your Outlook Express files (dbx, etc) in case your corrupt the originals during the export/import process.

Email export and import functions haven't improved in the last 10 years, so welcome to reality. I hate changing email programs for that reason.

There are applications out there designed to convert DBX to PST, but I don't know if they are required.

Ive checked all the settings there's no setting to say delete after so long, and the save sent messages is ticked, Ive tried to mirror another accounts settings but no change. just wondered if anyone has had the same problem or knows how to fix it ?

Our next thought was re-install office and add the email account again

You have the filter on in Outlook that only shows unread emails. They are still in the inbox, which is why you cannot see them in the deleted items folder.Do a search in Outlook help for 'filters' or 'only show unread messages' and you should find how to switch it off.Hope this helps.

I can't flag emails with Outlook 2007. Is there a setting i have missed setting up to do this?

Answer:Outlook 2007 + Flagging Emails

No its likely done a slightly different way in Outlook 2007 than older versions of Outlook, some notable changes to Outlook 2007 in discontinued features and modified functions

But I tend to flag mine up using the two changed features, one is in that you can flag your emails with colours to highlight different types of email, work, depts, personal etc using the Category colours

Then you can add time scales as in the To Do flags

Gone is the way you could in Outlook 2003 and below in colouring the flags with blue, green, orange etc its now the Category options. I looked but couldnt see where these two options could be turned off or on, so they IIRC are defaulty on.

I have been playing around in a limted way another option to sort and flag emails but this application while free is still in beta and by invite, although they do send invites out very quickly, its called Clear Context and maybe worth a look, does however have a very quick splash screen pop up each time you load Outlook, not had time to see if this can be disabled as yet.

Hello, The computer's OS is Windows Vista and the version of Outlook is Outlook 2007.I have noticed that the e-mails sent through Outlook 2007 aren't going through. Upon sending them, they remain in the Outbox and are labeled "This message has not been sent." Hi all,

I've read over some of the other similar threads and couldn't find my answer...

Every time I send out an email to someone with outlook, it sends a random number of invisible emails as well. Naturally, I assumed this was a trojan or a virus, or some type of malware and took steps to find and remove it, running SuperAntiSpyware, malwarebytes anti-malware and AVG 8, all of which turn up blank.

Other threads were answered stating that it could be read receipts, but I do not send those out even when requested. I know for a fact emails are being sent from one of my accounts because I am getting signed up to tons of news letters that state my IP and what day/time I signed up for the crap, even though I didn't send anything to those addresses. Furthermore, I am getting bounced emails being returned, as well as reply to spam that was supposedly sent from my account.,

I could use some help with this!

To explain in more detail, i am in HR and i was looking for a feature in Outlook 2007 to send the SAME email to 500 applicants (like "Sorry, you didn't get the job..." etc.). However, the current scripts i have used opens up every single email while its pasting the same message and sending which slows my computer for an hour.

All i need is to send the same email to 500 people at once (by holding down ctrl, selecting the emails and right clicking 'Reply to All') using 1 email and having all recipients automatically populated into the BCC field (so they cant see the other applicants names).

It doesn't have to be a script, but can be any add-on or software.
Does anyone know of anything?

Thanks a lot guys!

I had been happily using outlook 2007 with outlook connector to manage my hotmail account. A few days ago because my account had been hacked I had to get the password reset via Microsoft.

When I got my reset details, I went to my email via windows live hotmail and everything looked OK.

However, when I went into outlook, it would not accept the new password and I decided to set it up as a new account. This all went very well but I noticed that the new account was not showing up to date emails - the last several days emails were missing. (I have also checked via windows live and they are now missing there also). I have clicked on ?send/receive all? but it seems to be taking forever to do things. That process eventually completed but the missing emails have not been restored.

Anyone got any advice? Should I delete all the accounts and start again ? would this be simple?

We have a user who's emails suddenly "disappear" from view when she is using Outlook 2007. Our Exchange server is running Exchange2010. The user has multiple Mailboxes that she has permission to view. Also, she has a PST file for archiving emails off of Exchange server.

When her emails "disappear" she is usually clicking on different folders that have been created under her in-box. She has to click around folders before the emails return to view in her in-box.

Has anyone else experienced this problem? If so, what have you found as a resolution?

Answer:Outlook 2007 emails disappear

Are you sure she isn't dragging and dropping?

if all folders are on the exchange server, make sure she is allowing enough time for them to appear again after going to another folder. It probably isn't as fast as viewing files on your computer or network shares.

And no I have never experienced that phenonomon, but then we don't create a lot of folders on the exchange. Normally only PST folders on our computers.

I have had the same problem and I have found a solution to it. Its a quirky solution, a plaster over the problem rather than a cure, but it has worked for me. I have found that if you have more than one email in the outbox, the second emails sends ok. So what i did is this. I prepared an email to a non-existant email address as the first email in the outbox, then replied to my emails as normal. And it works. Since then I have kept the "first email" in the outbox and its all working ok. Not an elegant fix as such, but frankly I can't be bothered to fix it proberly. Good luck, hope it works for you too.

SMTP is - Port is 25 These are correct according to AT&T

She errantly had two antiviruses installed, Norton and Kaspersky so I uninstalled both of them but the problem persists.

Has anyone ever heard of this issue and if so do you have a fix??

Thanks for your help

I know it?s not environmentally friendly to print out emails but for work I don?t have a choice. The problem I have using Outlook 2007 is that when I print an email a dialogue box appears asking how many copies I want but not giving me the option to choose page 1 of 2 for example. Therefore I print off numerous pages a day with just a few lines on page 2, usually the client?s disclaimer to be put into the recycle box.Has anyone found a swift and effective way either through Outlook or with a separate program to only print off the pages you want?Hopefully I?m not being totally dumb and missing something obvious.Thank youFatboy415

Answer:Printing out emails in Outlook 2007

I use a much older version of Outlook, so the following may not be relevant, but...When you print, are you just clicking the print button? If so, try clicking Print on the File menu instead. This should give you the full choice of printer options to select from.

I recently upgraded from Outlook 2000 to 2007 under XP SP2. I have three accounts on the same POP3 server. After installation, it threw errors importing some of my rules and disabled the rest. Some of these rules (now bad) were for moving emails arriving from each account and moving them to the appropriate folder. Since these rules wouldn't import properly (and were disabled) it put all new messages in the same folder. OK, easy enough to fix.

However, whenever I logged on it would also download duplicates of all my messages. Over 5000 messages. Sometimes triplicates. I spent around a day paintsakingly removing these. It's difficult because if I remove the wrong one, it deletes the original from my POP server. In other words, if a particular message has two or three dupes, only ONE of them is truly associated with the original (on server) and therefore cannot be deleted locally. I can however safely delete the other local copies (the original remains on the server). The problem it can be impossible to tell which copy points to the original and which doesn't. It's necessary to archive all messages on my POP server for accessing on other systems so deleting these isn't an option.

I then deleted the old rules and added new rules for putting the messages from each account into their proper folders. I immediately discovered what appears to be a new bug in 2007. Of the three accounts, when I make a rule to move messages received from account#3 and hit... Read more

Answer:Duplicate emails in Outlook 2007

Update: I just discovered that Outlook just deleted over 1500 emails from one of my accounts off the POP3 server! I have always specified that messages are to be left on the server. What may have done it is the new feature in Account Settings where I Changed the folder in order to tell it where to put the email. Suffice to say I'm quite upset. Does anyone know if there's a way to upload email (intact) back to the POP server?

I am forced to be a tech guy against my will in my job as controller. Recently we purchased a new dell PC that came with Office 2007 Sm. Bus. Edition with Outlook 2007 with bus. contact manager. The original .pst file was on a network and was from Outlook 2003. When 2007 gets a new email it shows up on the left as a number (as in how many new emails are in your inbox but does not show the emails in the pane on the right. It will show them if you go into another folder and then back into the inbox. I have been researching this for awhile but no luck. From various sources I have tried the following:

1-the inbox has no rules or filters applied
2-Windows firewall has outlook.exe as an exception and antivirus is norton 10.1 on our server.
3- Ran Office diagnostics (no problems found).
4- renamed the following files and restarted outlook (extend.dat/frmcache.dat/outcmd.dat)

I have noticed a few people have posted this problem around different places but no definative answers. Any other suggestions for me. Thank you very much

I've just installed Microsoft Office 2007 and now when I try to download my emails with outlook it just keeps asking me for my password! All my email accounts were set up for me a few years ago so I don't know the passwords. Is there any way I can transfer all the password information from my old outlookprogram to the new one?

Any ideas would be greatly appeciated!

Cheers, Mark
