Reformatted My Hard Drive And Cannot Reinstall MS Office Pro 2007 in Office Setup

Question: Reformatted My Hard Drive And Cannot Reinstall MS Office Pro 2007 in Office Setup

Hello,

Reinstalled all Sony Pre-Loaded software,
which did NOT include any Prior version of MS Office. (Other than a Trial
Version of Office 2003 which I never used or installed. It's still in my
computer) Have no idea what version it is. Simply doesn't say because it's never been installed. It's sitting in the same start menu as all of the other MS Office 2007 Programs.
In another message forum I was told to delete it. However, Office 2007 Pro worked fine for 2 days with the Trial program still sitting in the Start folder.

I managed to install MS Office Professional 2007 and it's worked
for 2 days without a hitch. Today, I get the error message when I try to use
Outlook "Cannot start MS Office Outlook. Cannot initialize MS Office Shared
Utilities. Restart your computer Or reinstall MS Office Outlook." No Luck!!
Also, when I try to start up MS Word, the message says "Not enought memory
to load Word." (I have 2 Gig of Ram and a 320 Gig hard Drive???)

When I insert the Office Pro 2007 disk to Reinstall, the message is: "The
path you have chosen does not point at a qualifying upgradable product.
Click Try again or Cancel to quit setup."

I also don't have ANY previous versions of any Office Suite program to use.
I had Office 2003 Pro installed but that was deleted when I purchased Office 2007 Pro. I do have the disks for Office
2007 Pro.

For the record, I am an American living in Cali, Columbia. It's over $4.00
a minute to call anywhere in the US for help.

I would sincerely appreciate any help or suggestions that anyone can
provide.

NOTE: Also have Norton Internet Secuirty 2008 & Spysweeper installed.
Thanks in advance,

Robert

Preferred Solution: Reformatted My Hard Drive And Cannot Reinstall MS Office Pro 2007 in Office Setup

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I have needed to reinstal my Windows Vista. In the process my Office 2007 (Home and Student) has been uninstalled. (All my files are backed up on an external disc.) As my Office 2007 was purchased on-line I do not have a disc. I do have both the Product Number and the Order Number for the download but I cannot find out how to access the download without paying for it. Help please.

Answer:Reinstall Office 2007

Hi.Not 100% sure of this but if you download the trial version of the office product that you have.it should eventually ask you to buy or would probably give you the option of adding your office Keycode.click here Maybe better waiting until someone else can give you more advice. But if in a hurry probably worth giving it a try.

I am running Windows XP service pack 3. All updates AVG antivirus.
I had a killer adware attack with redirected browser. I finally got rid of it with TDSSkiller.
Lost the content of my directories and ran unhide which brought back some directories. I ran a slew of malware programs prior to getting competent help here. One of them obviously removed some vital programs. My computer would not boot for awhile but now it is functioning pretty normally. One exception is when I Start outlook an installer starts and keeps trying to install something. It interferes with sending and receiving email. Also the directory for office is missing.
I decided I could solve these problems by reinstalling Office but it won't install

I tried to use my microsoft installation disc and it would not begin setup so something else is going on...I tried it on another computer and it worked.

Hello,

When I try to open a 2007 Word or Excel document I recieve as an attachment in Outlook 2003, I get the following message:
"This action is only valid for products that are currently installed". Office 2007 compatibility pack was installed and it still did not work.

I then uninstalled Office 2003, uninstalled the Office 2007 compatibility pack and then I ran CCleaner to clean up the registry. I updated my OS (currently has Windows XP SP3) with all updates, reinstalled Office 2003, installed Office 2003 SP 3 and then reinstalled the Office 2007 compatibility pack.

I still get the same message when I try to open an Office 2007 attachment in Outlook 2003.

OS is Windows XP SP3 fully updated
Office 2003 SP 3 fully updated

Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance for any hel on this issue.

Running Vista Premium. All Office 2007 programs run through a reconfigure/reinstall cycle before they will open. Once opened, all programs work normally except Outlook which keeps trying to reconfigure/reinstall each time I send an eMail. It does send & receive email after the reconfig dance. Things I have tried: Uninstalled Office 2007 & reinstalled it (same problem). Ran Office Diagnostics (it claims everything is okay). Ran Office Repair (It claims everything is okay too). Deleted all shortcuts and created new ones (same problems). Arrrrgh! Please help. Thanks.

Dear Tech Support Guy,

I need to uninstall Office 2007 and reinstall my Office XP Standard on my new 'puter with Vista. Do I need to save the files in My Documents somewhere else for safety or is that an issue? Will this cause problems?

Also, I need to leave my Outlook 2007 on the machine (added on at great expense and trouble, so I don't want to change it). Will I have problems doing so? I notice that Office XP has MS Outlook in the package. Will I need to automatically load it or will I have chance to have it not load? It has been a few years since I used the install program.

I can't screw up here because we need this computer for school grades and creating homework for our students.

Thanks,

J Vance

Answer:Cannot Setup Office 2007 Professional

Couple of questions to ask
1. Are you installing as Administrator or an account that has admin rights?
2. Have you uninstalled Office 2003 or are you just doing an upgrade?
3. Do you have antivirus installed (yeah dumb question I guess) If so, have you disabled it before attempting to install?

Hello everyone! I will start by saying I know zip about this and please don't pull your hair out while reading this--I would feel very bad... Ok, I have a laptop running Vista. It suddenly 'quit' one day--I started it up and it would do nothing but give me options to 'redo' (sorry this is my term, obviously!). I chose the option to 'redo' that said I would have to reinstall all software that did not come with the computer. After all this I was able to find all my pics, documents and music that I had on the computer. I found all of it in the BACKUP file (I know that's obvious!). Anyway, got all my other software installed and then tried to install the office professional and it tells me that since it is an upgrade I must have another version to install this. Well, no I'm worried. I thought I would be able to find the old version of office in my BACKUP but I've been unable to. So this leads me to believe that it got deleted? Also, this laptop was bought used (tho' it is not very old). So, my question--is the previous version in my BACKUP somewhere and I just can't find it? Or is it on the CD that came w/ the 'puter? If so, how do I find it? Thank you all for reading this and I hope that you all still have your hair!

Answer:Can't Reinstall Office Professional 2007 Upgrade

Hi Curlygirl, welcome to BC. To install Office 07 Pro (not pro plus) from an upgrade disk, you must have one of the qualifying products in the quote below:Microsoft Works 6.0?10; Microsoft Works suite 2000?2006 or later; any 2000?2007 Microsoft Office program or suite; any Microsoft Office XP suite except Office XP Student and Teacher. In most cases you only need to provide the cd and point the installer to it. The actual qualifying program doesn't necessarily have to be installed. Also, this laptop was bought used (tho' it is not very old). So, my question--is the previous version in my BACKUP somewhere and I just can't find it? Or is it on the CD that came w/ the 'puter? If it were anywhere, it would have most likely been on a seperate cd that was supplied with the system, though even that would be highly doubtful.Couple quick questions to be of any more help:1. If you have no cd, what method did you use to "redo" your system?2. What is the make and model of your laptop?

My work computer was built 7 or 8 years ago, by a shop that has since closed. It's showing it's age but still works pretty well so although I'm getting a new "main" computer, I want to keep this one for our other office. I've never formatted a computer but understand that should get rid of alot of accumulated "junk" slowing down my old one.
I'll save my documents, desktop, emails, calendar and contacts to an external hard drive. Should I save anything else?
I have my installation cd's for XP Pro, Office, monitor, printers etc and license numbers for programs downloaded online so reinstalling those should be okay.
What about the other components? Will Windows recognize and install drivers for the motherboard, cd burner, speakers and whatever else? I do have floppies (yes, it's that old) for some stuff but I'm not sure I have everything.

Answer:Format & reinstall XP Pro, Office 2007 etc on custom PC

It would help if you were to post the specs for this computer.

What is the make and model of the motherboard?

Are you using integrated audio or graphics, or are there dedicated cards?

The only driver I can tell for sure that you will need will be the chipset drivers.

Hello!

I have inherited an HP laptop installed with Win XP and Office 2007. Problem is the Win XP is in Swedish and according to this thread that is incurable.

My question is, would the same language limitation apply to the MS Office 2007 installed in the laptop?

Note: I do not have any CDs and I can barely navigate on this laptop. Wireless is no go. I cannot even see how to run Windows Explorer!

But I felt that if I could find the product key for the Office package installed I could download it again from MS and install it on my own PC and set the language to English then.

Is that too much to ask?

Nick

Hello all.

Im having an annoying problem with msoffice today. I notice many of the icons and functions of office begin to not show/work, so i decide to uninstall and reinstall it. But when i went to uninstall it, i got errors, leaving the uninstall incomplete. I ended up using the windows uninstall cleaner or something similar and got rid of it. When it still wasn't gone i found a tut online and removed several registry keys. After that i was pretty sure the program in its entirety would be gone. Now.. when i try to reinstall it, i get the error shown in this picture..

so i did what it asked and gave full permission for that key in regedit. But when i tried to install it again, same error.

i really have no idea what to do next here, i kinda need these programs for school.

it would be wonderful if anyone can offer any ideas.

thanks

Looks like you messed up playing with the registry keys. I assume you have backed up the registry before tampering with them. Just reimport those keys. Else try to set back to an early restore point and start anew. I've just put Windows 7 on laptop and tried reinstalling student version of Office Professional Plus 2007 (which was on there before but with Vista). It gets nearly halfway through installation before it says that it can't find setup.exe and asks me to browse folders to find where it is. I've tried looking but can't find it and so have to abort process.
Can anyone help?

Answer:Can't install Office Professional Plus 2007 - setup.exe error

Welcome to Windows Seven Forums.

Was this a pre-installed version of Microsoft Office or do you have a DVD for it?

If it is a DVD you could try creating a new folder on your hard drive and copy the contents of the DVD to it, and then try to install it from there.

If it was pre-installed and you've installed Windows 7 instead of Vista the Office files may be missing or corrupted.

Was it a clean install of Windows 7 or an upgrade?

Have you checked to see if you have a Windows.old folder? If you have take a look in it and see what files are in there from your Vista installation.

At my wits end, This Christmas I bought my daughter a new PC, on it was Office 2007 Student, it looked different so I downloaded the 90 day trial version of 2007 Standard from Microsoft on my PC to give it a try. The first thing I noticed after installation was it began to Reconfigure/Reinstall whenever I opened up any module and it did it continually therafter. So I tried remove it and reinstall it (about 3 times), so I went online and realized that I just downloaded another bad problem from Microsoft. But to make matters worse I saw references of similar issues to Office 2000 and 2003 as well . Not to be daunted I tried reinstalling Office 2003 and 2000 numerous times the problem stuck, to me it appears to be a Vista issue (go figure). I have done everything that I can imagine, I have done everything that MS said to do including reinstalling VISTA (I even reloaded it on another newly formatted drive!). I have done everything that I can see on the net .... My only conclusion, It has to be one of the updates MS applies to VISTA.  I am running Vista Ultimate 32 bit on a AMD quad core, MSI K9A2 (4GB) with 3 hard drives and 2 ATI 3870's in crossfire. I don't want to go through the whole wipe/reformat and reload again, its got to be in the registry.. Help

...and won't install

Right...where do I begin. I'm using an oldish PC with xp sp2. I downloaded and used some utils from this excellent site to try and increase it's performance (namely ccleaner, taskfree and complete clean up).

I found that after running these programs Office stopped working (I don't know whether it is related to those programs) saying that it was not installed for that user, or words to that effect. I spoke to an IT guy at work about this and he told me to unistall office totally then try reinstalling it - i did this following instructions from the microsoft site.

On reinstalling I was presented with the 'Microsoft Office Enterprise 2007 encountered an error during setup' message. I've tried loads of 'fixes' from different forums and from microsofts site and nothing has worked.

Has anybody got any ideas of a way to sort this problem?

Hi!

I'm having trouble installing my authentic copy of Microsoft Office 2007 Ultimate. I use Windows Vista Business, and everything else runs ok. The install fails approximately 20% into the process, and shows the message:

Error 2203. An internal error has occurred. (C:\Windows\Installer\986af5.msi - 2147287008) Contact Microsoft Product Support Services (PSS) for assistance. Following this message are some instructions on how to contact PSS.

I have noticed the file name changes each time - might this mean that setup gets a little further each time I attempt the installation?

Would appreciate any assistance on this matter. Thanks in advance!

Liam.

Answer:Solved: Office 2007 - Setup failure - Error code 2203

Hey All,

Just FYI, The error was being caused by my anti-virus software interfering. I happen to use CA anti-virus, and simply snoozing this application was sufficient to allow setup to proceed.

Thanks,

Liam.

I keep getting an error saying that "Microsoft Office Small Buisiness 2007 has encountered an error during setup" when trying to install Office '07, the installer goes halfway and then just goes to that screen. No error code, just a dummy message. Thanks Microsoft.

It was installed earlier, but Outlook started acting funny, so I tried to uninstall, it wouldn't so I had to manually uninstall it, and now it won't reinstall.

I can give more details later. It's REALLY late right now.

Hi guys,
I have got a laptop with a fresh install of Windows 7 Pro x64 on it. When I try to install Office 2007 Enterprise or Office Pro Plus 2010 on it the setup tries to start but then crashes with "Microsoft Office Setup has stopped working". This occurs when it actually tries to install, I can go through entering CD key, choosing install location and what to install no problem.
I have tried installing from a downloaded ISO as well in case the disks were in bad condition but exactly the same issue occured.
Any help much appreciated.

I am getting the following error when I try to reinstall a custom setup office XP install on a windows 2000 machine.

"OFFXP: Setup Detects Office XP Running When You Attempt to Install Office XP"

I had the uninstall the office xp on this machine through add/remove programs because it was crashing alot. The custom install works fine on all other windows 2000 and xp machines.

I found the following error in MS knowledgebase
article 292497 (I can't post the link because I'm a new member)

It says to to hit ignore. If I hit ignore it does install but it doesn't install with the correct options for the custom install. (I have it set to not install outlook and it installs outlook, etc.) Obviously its not following the custom install.

Any ideas? I believe something is left on the pc from office when it was installed. I even ran the Removal Wizard on the Office XP Resource kit. It is supposed to remove everything left from previous versions. However, it must be missing something because I am still getting that error when I try to reinstall Office XP that is described above.

ThankS!

Just bought a new laptop with Windows7 64bit installed-my first exposure to Windows7. I had Office 2007 installed on my old Dell 32 bit machine. I had also recently pruchased Office 2010 and installed that on my new machine.

Now, when I try to open those 32bit 2007 files with 64bt 2011, Iget an error message that "no picture file is available", or words to that effect. When I try to "open with", the only option displayed is "Microsoft Office" with an icon that looks like a picture file. When I try to browse to the proper office program(Excel, for example), there are none of teh Office suite programs displayed, only "Microsoft Office".

I can navigate seperately to the proper progran, Excel, etc., and drag the file into the application, and it opens, and all seems to work OK. I "save as" the proper application file, but it still will not open with double-click on the file name.

I have not seen this particular item in the forums and would appreciate very much some help in fixing this issue.

Thanks,

Grubby

Many users who have upgraded from Microsoft Office 2003 to Office 2007 may find Office 2007 a bit difficult because of the new toolbar and arrangement of buttons. Hello,

A charity is considering upgrading its workstations to Office 2013 from Office 2007.
They have lots of files in the .docx, .xlsx, .xlsm, and .xltm formats that they would need to access on a daily basis.

- Would the upgrade cause compatability problems with working with files created under these above formats?

Good Day,

I've often used the Files and Transfer Wizard to move files in the Windows XP environment, including those for people moving from Office 2003 to 2007, however, I've just been asked to move a person from a computer that would result in them moving backwards from Office 2007 to Office 2003; is this possible? What concerns should be considered? Obviously if they have a number of documents saved in the 2007 it could be problematic, though could the compatibility pack offered by Microsoft offset that concern? Thoughts? Thanks.

Jeff

Microsoft maybe able to save the file by removing or repairing some features. To make the repairs in new file, click Continue. To cancel saving the file, click Cancel.

By the way, the files were save on the file server and users access them through single roaming profile that we created with full access on their folders.

Good Evening Everyone,

I have a few questions concerning the Installation of 2010 Office. I know that I have to uninstall Office 2007. I have no clue on how to save or where to save my documents from Office 2007. The documents consist of Word, Excel, Powerpoint and a few various folders. Should I from the Start Menue click on Documents select all and copy. Where should I place this copy? Can It be left on my hard drive? After I install Office 2010 can I then copy the "Document File" and place in Documents. Will all the files end up in the proper place for their programs, Word files go to Word, Excel goes to Excel so on and so forth. Thank you so much for all your help and cooperation. It is greatly appreciated. I hope I described my situation correctly. I look forward to hearing from you.

Answer:2010 Office Professional Plus to Replace 2007 Office Small Business

But you don't have to uninstall Office 2007 to upgrade to 2010. That's the general rule as you can generally upgrade from lower SKUs to higher SKUs (Small Business to Pro Plus). As far as saving your documents, you can really save them wherever you like on your hard drive or on any CD or flash drive if you wish to do so. As far as file types, after 2010 is installed, they should all register properly for their programs so that Word documents open in Word, Excel Documents in Excel, etc.

Though if you have all of you documents already saved within "Documents" or "My Documents" or some other folder you've set aside and you want to uninstall 2007 before upgrading to 2010, the documents themselves will be retained when you uninstall, you just won't be able to really do much with them until you install 2010.

I recently purchased a HP 530 laptop for our soccer club that came pre installed with Vista. During use of outlook, Excel etc it came up with a message asking for activation key & that we had 20 uses left to enter it (I presumed this was a trial version & activation code to be purchased). After 5-10 uses I decided to install Office 97 which I still had lying around from an old PC. This installed OK but the message was still appearing.

I then uninstalled Office 97 via add/remove programs & then did likewise for anything that mentioned office 2007 (I didn't do the actual uninstalling but am advised there were 4-6 office 2007 variants uninstalled). I then went to load office 97 back in but no go. It goes through the usual install process, enter key, select location to load (prog files/microsoft office) & then select type of install required (typical) & then the features (have selected all & just the basic office install).

Then it goes to the actual install process but just sits there with the bluey/green coloured screen with Microsoft Office 97 written at the top but goes no further.

I have checked add remove programs again & no mentions of office are listed.

I have followed the following fix I was advised about -

I use MS office 2007 daily, but today I cannot access it properly. I attempted to open a file by clicking on the "office button" and it immediatly closed everything. Hi Folks,

The title of the thread says it all really.

I have legitimate copy of Microsoft Office 2007 Ultimate on my PC. I have just bought a copy of Office 2016 Professional Plus through the HUP.

I haven't installed Office 2016 yet - I use Office 2010 at work and find using Custom Animations in PowerPoint tricky compared to Office 2007.

I'd like to install Office 2016 alongside Office 2007 until I have tried Office 2016 to see if the Custom Animations in PP are easier than the 2010 version before switching completely.

My question is, can I install Office 2016 alongside Office 2007 without conflicts - switching between versions without a problem or will installing Office 2016 screw Office 2007 or worse FUBAR both Office installations or my PC.

Any help gratefully received.

Cheers,

Zaph

Hello - I own multi-user version of Microsoft Office 2007 Pro and in May 2012 purchased a new ASUS A54C-TS91 laptop with Windows 7 Home Premium and Office 2010 Starter Edition. I need Powerpoint and Outlook in addition to Excel and WORD. I tried to install the entire app. assuming certain "limited" components of 2010 would be overwritten with the "better"/more robust 2007 - however, while it appears Office 2007 Pro loaded properly and is shown in Control Panel with proper date as installed, there is no file size listed...... I have read several similar posts but wanted to provide specific details for my situation. Anyone have a similar issue - what is best solution? (i am a newbie to the group, so hope I didn't make a faux pas in relating my story). Any guidance is welcomed and appreciated. Minky

If your computer is relatively new, it may have come with a trial install of Office 2010 - check the Start menu, and the Programs & Features listing.
You may also have installed Viewers for things like PowerPoint 2010, which still require updates.

Hey guys, my wife is taking a course that requires her to install Office 2010. The issue is that she wants to preserve her current setup which includes Office 2003 and 2007 existing side-by-side on her Windows 7 (64-bit Home Edition) notebook.
The 2003/2007 setup is not one that she really wants to mess with (i.e., she has no interest whatsoever in uninstalling the two Office suites that she currently has), so ideally she would like to have Office 2010 installed temporarily (for the duration of her course) on the machine without interfering with the current setup.
What is the most painless way of doing this that does not involve shelling out for a second computer?

I removed both Office 2003 and 2007 and installed 2010, I then used virtual XP and installed 2003 there, 2007 and 2010 are too similar and the dll's will 'bite' along the way.

Hello

I installed office 2007 ultimate alongside office 2003 professional. Microsoft outlook and publisher was removed from my office 2003 prior to office 2007 installation. I also opted not to install microsoft outlook 2007.

It seems that each time I load word 2007 or 2003 after previously opening the other version (ie. load 2003 followed by 2007 OR load 2007 followed by 2003), a window would opened up indicating that either the configuration or installation process is taking place, hence delaying the startup. However, once the program has started, it would run without problem. I do not intend to unistall my 2003. There was no problem loading excel 2003/2007, powerpoint 2003/2007 and access 2003/2007.

I am running on Windows XP SP2 that is regularly updated. Thank you

On my Win7 PC I have open office and on my WinXP Laptop I have Office 2007. Both have one major problem: the spell-checker does not work regularly for English and does not work at all for other languages, e.g., French, Spanish, or German.

I did read other threads regarding this problem and I did go through the routine of Tools-option-writing aids; and marked "check spelling as you type." I also have my abc on the menu bar checked and the adjacent ABC is underlined with a red wavy line (which means the spell-checker is active).

The problem is that when I activate the Eng language in my task bar and type a wrong word, it will be marked with a wavy red line-- which means my spell checker works for English. Now while I still have English on my language bar, if I type a word in Spanish, the spell-checker doesn't work because the foreign word is not marked with red-wavy line. If I change the language in my task bar to Spanish and write a wrong Spanish word, again the spellchecker doesn't seem to work.

Anybody has any idea what seems to be the problem?

I greatly appreciate your help.

Does anyone know if I can easily upgrade my Office 2003 Student version to Office Basic or Standard upgrade versions2007?

Answer:Upgrade Office 2003 Student to Office Basic 2007

Yes, the 2007 Home and Student version of Office 2007 will do it. There's no upgrade for it, just the CD with Word, Excel, Power Point and One Note, stick it in and follow the install instructions. However, if you're going to be using Office 2007 and transferring files between versions i.e. Office 2007 at home and Office 2003 somewhere else, it's worth knowing that Office 2007 uses a new file format that isn't recognised by earlier versions of Office. For Word its .docx, for Excel its .xlsx, and Powerpoint .pptx.You can download software for earlier versions to read the new format, or alternatively, anything you may transfer can be saved in the old format. Thought I'd point it out as you mention a student version of Office 2003, and not all institutions will be using Office 2007 yet.

I am running a copy of Office 2007 Ultimate that I got through an academic program. I need to install a key for Office 2010 on a new system. The cost for the key only is about $20 less than a 3 license traditional disk version, so I am considering upgrading every system.

Hey All,

Here is my issue. The Company we consult for has not transitioned all of the way to Office 2007. We have a number of machines that still have Office 2003. Compatibility Pack works on almost all issues.

Current issue is one of our users received a PowerPoint 2003 that has embedded PowerPoint 2007 files. When the user opens the PowerPoint 2007 file Office 2003 shuts down. He has to download the 2007 file to his desktop.

From what I can see this is because the file conversion process shuts down Office 2003 before attempting to open the PowerPoint 2007 file.

Another issue that may be complicating the error is we had to run a Fixit patch from Microsoft that was causing Excel, Word and PowerPoint to be scanned which caused long opening times. I don't remember the KB article for that one at the moment but will find it if I need to.

Thanks for any help in advance.

When I first got my computer (Windows 7 Home Premium SP1), it had a preinstalled trial version of Microsoft Office 2007. I removed it via the control panel (Programs and Features) and installed Office 2010. However, I still get Office 2007 updates via Windows Update. They even installed successfully.
There are no Office 2007 components listed under Programs and Features.

Why am I getting Office 2007 updates although I've got only Office 2010?...

Answer:receiving Office 2007 updates but have got Office 2010 installed

This should help:
How do I uninstall the 2007 Office suites if I cannot uninstall it by using the "Add or Remove Programs" feature?

So this is odd. I have a user who is using office 2003, when she forwards an email to anyone using office 2007 the body of her forward is lost. However, if the email is opened via office 2003, webmail, or via a Smartphone the forwards are there. Iíve reinstalled office on computer A (the one with office 2003) but this didnít remedy the situation. Any ideas?

I recently purchased Microsoft Office 2007 and upgraded from my 2003 installation (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) today. I can't believe how frustrated I am, I am regretting the entire purchase and upgrade. The composition of the toolbars is lacking options/icons present in 2003, the word configuration options are all over the place, and I cannot for the life of me find out where some of the most basic options are, such as fields. I didn't know the Visual Basic toolbox is gone until I read a help file on some website online, stating that Microsoft now wants you to purchase VB.NET separately.

I have used Microsoft Office since version 6.22 with Windows 3.1, I can deal with tabs instead of menus, and the new theme...but it is a serious serious pain when I can't find the location of options which I have been using for the past ten years. There is an old addage... If it ain't broke, DON'T FIX IT!
I think Microsoft will be losing many many customers with this one.

Is anyone aware of any guides, books, online documentation, etc which can help users to migrate?? If not, I'm going to be sending off these cds to the Salvation Army.

Answer:Migrating from MS Office 2003 to Office 2007 = PAIN

Hi animorph,
Yes, the changes are extensive. But Microsoft does have helpful interactive guides that let you choose a function in 2003 and find it in 2007. I hope these help.

My boss wants me to install Office 2003 standard edition on a client's pc that has Office 2007 standard edition already installed on it. I don't know, why but this is what he wants. Are there going to be major issues with installing and using an older version of Office on the same system as Office 2007?

Hi all.
Is it possible to run MS Office 2003 and MS office 2007 on the same machine.
I teach I.T. and many of my students, as well as the school computer labs have office 2003. For this reason I need 2003 on my machine.
That said I also am seen as the computer guru by fellow collegues, so often find myself sorting out their computer problems or giving advice on how to merge tables in word or create mark shedules in excel. Many of them have 2007, which is very different. Thus running 2007 seems like a good idea.
So is it possible to have both versions running on the same machine?
At this point I am using windows XP - tablet edition.

My Sony Vaio came pre-loaded with a 60 day free trial of Office 2007. As I preferred to use the cheaper Office Home & Student I uninstalled Office 2007 and tried to load Home & Student. All appeared OK except for some error messages which kept popping up about wrong versions(?) I have now uninstalled Home and Office and restored the laptop to where it was AFTER unistalling Office 2007, so I now have no office on there. Before I attempt to re-install Home & Student, I wondered if I should delete the other two Office programs listed in the "add & remove programs" list in Control Panel. They are Office 2007 Primary Interop Assemblies and Small Business Connectivity Components. I am in limbo at the moment so any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. ps: I created a Restore Point before all this fiddling around. If I reset the pc to that restore point, would the uninstalled Office re-appear?

Answer:Installing Office Home & Student over Office 2007

1) I don't have experience installing and uninstalling Office 20072) it is normal good practice to eliminate as many traces of an uninstalled programme as possible, so I would go ahead and uninstall the components you suggested3) then try Home and Student4) restore points are there to keep the operating system in good order; if you unistall thrid party programmes (and Office is one of these) or you delete a data file, these are not brought back by a system restore.

The only safe (and allowed) link is from microsoft.com or a reseller.

Otherwise, they co-exist, you can install or uninstall them in any order.

On my laptop I was running MS Office 2003 Professional. I decided to upgrade to MS Office 2007 Professional. I thought my CD and key were legitimate. After installing, I found I couldn't activate the software. The new installation apparently wiped out the MS Office 2003.

Is there anyway for me to return to my MS Office 2003? I'm using a Dell and tried to return to a previous setpoint, but that didn't work, something about a patch missing.

Any ideas?

Several months ago, I downloaded the beta version of Office 2007. I decided to remove it and go back to Office 2003. Ever since, I can no longer access Outlook 2003 and I am using the 2002 version. The other Office 2003 functions I am able to use. Also, I am unable to install Office Updates because when I do, Outlook 2002 and Word 2003 lose some functionality and I have to restore.

All suggestions are welcome.

Thanks!

I've an almost new machine that I've installed Office 2007 Home & Student. On my previous machine I had Office 2000 premium installed. Since Home & Student is just Excel and Word I was wondering if I can install Access and Outlook from my old Office 2000 CDs to compliment my Home&Student? I rarely use access and would use outlook only for the calendar so this is low priority for me and I don't want to chance screwing up my Office 2007 for something I'd only use a few times a year unless I've some assurances that it would work. Does anyone have experience doing this or something similar?

I upgraded my Office Pro 2007 to Office Standard 2010 yesterday and everything went fine with the exception. On this one machine the user is having word crash while he is working on it, sometimes right away, sometimes it is good for five minutes, it crashes no matter what the file is, even on new documents with very little text. Nothing has worked, we have even attempted reinstall of the office suite. Can I fix my office word ? The system is running Windows 7. Fully up to date on patches and there is no 3rd party software installed that isn't installed on other machines in the building. The error message is listed below, any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.Problem signature.

Answer:I upgraded my Office Pro 2007 to Office Standard 2010

Please describe what you mean by "Crash"?

Is this a company machine, if so then you need to have your IT people have a look at it.

Originally, I had Office 2003 installed in my computer, & a trial version of 2007 that had already expired.
Today I installed a full version of Microsoft Office 2007, without removing any of the other two versions from my computer. I realized that it seemed to automatically remove the older version. I`m not bother about it not being there, as I got the new version, but I wonder if this is an automatic uninstalling that Office does, or if the version is still there but I can`t see it, as I would like to remove it properly if it`s still somewhere in my computer.
I checked in Control Panel & the only thing I can see is "Microsoft Office Enterprise 2007", the full version I just installed, & everything that come with it. No 2003 anywhere.
Does this mean 2003 is fully uninstalled?
Thanks a lot!!

Answer:My office 2003 disappeared after installing office 2007

You can check to see if it is fully uninstalled (I am sure that it is) by going to search and typing the name there. If it is still present, the program will appear.

Worst case scenario, just remanants will remain. Download and use ccleaner. If you run this software, you can be certain that 2003 has gone to software heaven.

If given the option not to use the reg cleaner inculuded in ccleaner take it. I and many others at the forum feel that reg cleaners do more harm than good.

My Dell Inspiron came with Microsoft Office Starter 2010. It has only Word and Excel. I have an Office 2007 Ultimate disk which has all the goodies. Can I install 2007 over Starter 2010, or should I remove Starter 2010 (if that's possible) first? Thanks.

Answer:Office Starter 2010 and Office 2007 Ultimate

Remove and then install 2007. Otherwise, 2k10 takes precedent over older versions.

Hello
I currently have Office 2003 Student full version installed on my computer. I have received Office Professional Plus 2007 Student media version. Do I need to uninstall Version 2003 prior to installing 2007 or will installation of version 2007 automatically uninstall version 2003. Does all the information in my .pst file convert as necessary for use in Outlook 2007. There are two discs, one called "Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2007" and the other one called "Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2007 (Microsoft Office Communicator 2007". I'm guessing that the disk with the shorter title "Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2007" would be the correct one to install. What is the second disk with Communicator? My system is Windows XP SP2, AMD Athlon 64X2 Dual Core Processor, 3800+ 1.99 Ghz 2GB Ram.
Thanks

I now have a new problem, before I managed to open 2007 files by opening Office 2010 and then from inside the application choosing to open a file. The problem I have though is if I just try to open an Office 2007 file then I can't open it, and I can't change the default program to open it.

How do you get Office 2010 to open all the Office 2007 files such as word, excel etc?

I purcased MS OFiice 2010 Professional through the MS Home Use Program to replace MS Office 2007.

I received the link and product key via e-mail; I've ordered the CD's but they won't arrive for another 2 weeks.

Several posts indicated that I should uninstall the 2007 version, then install the 2010 version. If I do that, I won't have access to the e-mail for the download.

Should i just install 2010 over 2007, or wait for the CD's?

Answer:Installing MS Office 2010 to replace Office 2007

Wait for the DVD, or download the ISO then write it to DVD for installation. After installation, activate it with the licence key you purchased.

Hi there
much as I like Office 2010 and will continue to use it I find it a bit frustrating to have to re-activate it every time I use my Win 8 to go system on different computers -- even though I do have an Enterprise version.

The Enterprise version of Office 2007 seems much more tolerant -- I tested my win2go on 8 different machines - all with different hardware - some INTEL CPU's some AMD's.

Wasn't required to activate it again EVEN ONCE !!so I'm going to use Office 2007 Enterprise - Luckily I still had the old install disk from work.

Note this is a LEGAL copy -- no keygens / hacks / poodlefaking activation servers etc.

(You WILL have to activate it the first time after installing it).

It still gives security updates etc from Ms update and I believe its still supported until mid 2015 and there isn't a lot of difference if any in the document formats between 2010 and 2007).

So now I have a nice PROPER portable system with a decent version of Office on it.

Cheers
jimbo
