Outlook 2003 Profile for current user?

Question: Outlook 2003 Profile for current user?

I want to set up outlook on my workstations so that who ever logs into the computer can get to there mail. Is there a way to setup the outlook profile so that it sees that current user and logs into there mailbox? I have tried to use the %currentuser% command in the profile, but that doesn't work. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Preferred Solution: Outlook 2003 Profile for current user?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: Outlook 2003 Profile for current user?

The user needs to log in and configure Outlook for their account. No special magic or commands or parameters involved. Outlook automatically keeps separate profiles for separate logins

As of today, in our domain environment consisting of Windows 8.1 and Windows 7 Enterprise machines, we are experiencing the "User Profile service failed the sign-in - User profile cannot be loaded" error message whenever a user tries to login.
This only affects users new to the particular machine. If they have signed on before and already have a cached account the computer logs them in with no issue. This is occurring on both Win8.1 and Win7 machines. We are an academic institution so this is becoming
a huge problem in our labs. Students generally use different computers so this is popping up very frequently. I have a solution for the issue. It appears that on the non-working machines that the "Default" user profile is corrupt. I have discovered
that if I find a machine, Win8.1 or Win7, doesn't matter, that is allowing first time users to logon I can copy the "Default" user profile and replace the corrupt one. I must first permanently delete the corrupt profile before copying over the new
one. I am doing this over the network by navigating the C:\users\ folder. Even this way is becoming cumbersome though as we have over 1000 computer in labs. I have googled and googled and I keep seeing the same answers offering various solutions, none which
are any more practical than my method. I cannot find information on a cause or a reason of why this would just crop up out of nowhere. I suspect maybe a Windows update but I cannot verify that yet. ... Read more

OK, I'm stumped here:
To tighted up security, mgmt has had us ditch mapped drives for links to paths, which show up in Windows Explorer nav. as Favorites. This works great, except in applications that use the PlacesBar. I've found several good resources for registry
edits to have these links show up in the places bar, but they're String Values like: C:\Users\JShmoe\Links
I'd like to set a GPO to set this, but I can't figure out how to make the setting applicable to the logged in user. I've found that I'll have to use an Expandable String Value, but trying every combination of %Username%, %USERPROFILE, yields nothing. I've tried
C:\Users\%username%\Links, just %username%\Links, one %, two %, all uppercase and ...nada.
Any tips on how to reference the logged on user in the registry?
Thanks in advance!

I have XP Pro SP3 , Office 2003 Pro sp3. AMD Barton 2500+, 1 Gig ram.

This machine has been working fine for two years. I noticed that updates for VS2005 Express (Sp2 and 3) had failed. I tried to download these updates manully and install them. They continuously failed. At that point I decided to removed VS2005 Express and install VS2008 Express (latest version was sp1).
I did this Mar 3/09 - with some difficulty. Had to install new windows installer 4.5 as part of the process.

Got it all installed fine Mar 4/09 morning.

Then noticed that Outlook was giving this "Outlook not installed for current user" error.
Searched Google and M$oft found some threads, but none seemed to have a solution. The problem also seems to have happened in the past with Office 2000, and also with Office 2007 and Vista.

According to the items I found the problem happens with Outlook, Excel, Access, Word and Powerpoint.
ie <program> was not installed for the current user

I tried to do a repair of Office 2003 -- no change
I then did a remove and reinstall ( insert CD click on SETUPPro). Successful install messages, then got latest updates. Again applied successfully.

The error message is still there when I attempt to open any of Excel, Outlook, Word, Access.

I have tried creating a new user profile (Administrator priv). In setting up the email account I went to Control panel -- Mail and can see my old account and new account. I can expand the settings and actually test the connec... Read more

One user has worked in our office for a about 5 years and her first computer on the domain started creating a folder with her name on our server. It would do it every day, after I deleted it again (I finally just gave up and hid the folder). I couldn't track down what software might be creating the folder, and since the folder was empty... I shrugged it off. I figured when we got her a new computer, the fresh install of Windows / Office etc. would deal with it.

Nope. The new computer does it too. Still, no big deal, and I consider it a secondary problem.

The main problem is that we're using Tasks more in Outlook for managing our workload. Except when we send her a task, she can't do anything with it. She can't even open it, let alone accept it or edit it...

This use has installed a lot of software over the years, and I'm wondering if her Windows profile has some junk in it that we just need to leave behind, and just make a new profile for her and import her e-mail from her old account. Or perhaps I should just delete her Exchange mailbox and recreate it, as was suggested to me by our IT company? If I have to create a new account on the domain and export her e-mail to that account, so be it. So I don't know if the problem is in her domain profile, or her Exchange account.

Any suggestions on this?

TIA.

Answer:Junk in user profile under SBS 2003

Hi.... I really haven't worked with SBS 2003, but I do work with Exchange & Server 2003 daily.

What type of profile do you have assigned to this user? How is the user setup? Are you using folder redirection? Any special logon scripts being pushed out?

What version of Exchange, as in what updates have been applied? When and how was her account in Exchange created?

What version of Outlook are you using? Updates applied?

The statement "Nope. The new computer does it too" makes me look strongly at her user setup on the server.

I think that's enough questions for starters! Sorry, but there are many possibilities on this one.

Hello,
I'm wondering if there is an easy way to keep the users old SBS 2003 profile settings and move over to the new SBS 2011? The new SBS is all set up. I'm able to unjoin the old SBS domain and join the new SBS domain with 0 issues. But How to keep all user setting on client PC?. There is only 1 login per PC. Is there a registry hack I could do to fool the new SBS? I know I could of migrated from SBS 2003 to SBS 2011 but the server had tons of issues and didn't want the issues on the new SBS 2011 so I did a fresh install. All user profiles, AD setting, GP setting, Share drives, everything but user settings. Both SBS domain names are the same mydomain.local. I would like to take the old SBS offline put the new SBS online and rejoin the pc's to the new SBS with old profiles running on the pc.

Thank you for your help!

Hi,

I have newbie webmaster for a small E-store domain. We created 5 email addresses like
- [email protected]
- [email protected]
- [email protected]
- [email protected]
- [email protected].

All this time, I was using HORDE webmail for accessing all the above email accounts. I was not comfortable with the user interface.

Then I came across this article, which explained that I can have outlook 2003 as a mail client. Just I have to create seperate profile for each email account.

Following are the steps it was detailed out in that article.

Step 1:
open Control panel.

Step 2:
Open Mail.

Step 3:
Show Profile will be displayed. Then click add for adding a new profile.
My problem is, show profile is not visible. Instead it is displaying email accounts. As per the article, why it is not showing up in my system.

I tried my level best to find "show profiles" but no.

Can anyone help me with this problem?

O/S: win XP with SP2
Outlook 2003

Answer:"show Profile" for adding a new profile is not visible in Outlook 2003

Hi maddy2007

Welcome to Tech Support Guy Forums!

In Microsoft Outlook:
Help > About Microsoft Office Outlook
Does it say: Microsoft Office Outlook 2003
Or does it have a different version listed?

The Outlook you are using appears to be an older version, maybe Outlook 2000?
Which is fine, as the mode can be changed from Internet Mail only to Corporate/Workgroup mode, where you can add Profiles.

I have two Win 2k3 servers - one as AD server and second as SQL server. Today something happens to the AD server but people had problem with SQL server too, so they went to reboot that second. After all they lost admin profile for SQL server (admin profile at the domain not local comp). I have no idea what happened, but when I arrived after each SQL server start and log on to the domain as admin I get message that server can not run admin.domain profile because some kinds of security issues (what kind of issues?) so it will start as temporary profile.

Under My Computer -> Properties -> Advanced -> User Settings I can see correct user profile but as Local/Backup not Local/Local. How can I restore correct profile? Any idea Thanks

Answer:Windows 2003 Sever and crashed user profile

If its just a member server, I would stop the SQL Services first. pull the server out of the domain. Reboot the system. with the SQL Services still stopped, bring the server back into the domain. Restart the server again, then when you get back into Windows reconfigure the services as the were. I would assume that is going to be the cleanest way to get it working correctly again.

Hello my never-disappointing friends,

Today i am here to request help on this situation:
The old server has crashed. It was a Windows NT Server.
It was running a local domain but the backup is also fucked and as such, no information was retrieved

Afterwards, a new server with SBS 2003 Premium was installed, new domain name (mydomain.local).

After the crash, some computers were immediatly moved to a (temporary) workgroup so they could work together and stayed like this for a couple weeks. For these, the transition for the new domain was painless (using the http://server/connectcomputer migration wizard).

But one or two computers were left on the old non-existent domain.
I need to migrate these two babies to the new SBS domain.

The profiles are local, not roaming.

How do i migrate them?
TIA

Answer:SBS 2003: Migrate user profile from another domain (with the old server dead)

Remove the machines from the old domain using the old domain admin account then connect them to the new one.

Hello, two of our users at work are getting a dialog box "Choose Profile" coming up when they boot up their machines. They claim it was fine a couple of days ago...! Has anyone any ideas how to cure this problem from popping up? Nothing's changed on our server to my knowledge...!Thanks.

In Control Panel, double-click on the Mail icon. Select "Profiles" and check the option to "Always use this profile." Unless more than one profile has been created for that user, just go with the default or "Outlook" profile.

Hi highbids

It is ok to have more than one profile in Outlook, I have several myself.
If you really want to remove one of the profiles, login to each profile and verify the contents of each.

Right click on the Top/Root folder of the Personal Folder.
Select: Properties for "Name of Personal Folder" > Advanced button
In the Filename: field should be the directory path and .pst file name, make a note of it for each profile.

One of the .pst files can be connected to the profile you are keeping and the other profile can simply be deleted.
Let us know what you find.

It is an HP computer that my brother brought over because it wouldn't boot. It was giving me a "bootmgr is compressed" message. So I got my Vista repair disc and uncompressed his drive. That got rid of that message but then it was giving me winload.exe errors. So I fixed that and FINALLY it booted up but when I clicked on his user account to log on, I get this error message. I have searched for answers. I came across a fix where you edit the registry if there is a duplicate entry in the profiles section but there isn't an extra one. I can boot into safe mode but I get no administrative tools, no ability to see the event viewer or manage users (idk if this is normal). I did a command I found to make the default administrator account active or something like that, and now when it boots up, there is his user account, and an admin user. If I click his user to log on, I get the error message. If I click the admin account, it loads, but it loads telling me the Vista copy is not genuine.

Anyone have any idea how to fix this? Why is the admin account telling me Vista is not genuine? Thank you.

Hello

When I tried to log on to administrator account on vista laptop this morning I got the following error massage "The User Profile Service failed the logon. User profile cannot be loaded." I did some research and found a potential solution: The User Profile Service failed the logon. User profile cannot be loaded.

However the problem is that the solution needs a working administrartor account and the only account I'm able to log in is a standard one with no power to change account type or boot into admin safe mode/ do a command prompt whatsoever.

Would anyone happen to have an alternative solution that doesn't require an admin account to fix this?

Was able to log on in safe mode and follow the registry edit procedure. Thanks anyway

Admin account worked fine on Monday.  The kid used her (non-admin) account in the meantime.  Now it won't log into the admin account - "The User Profile Service failed the logon. User profile cannot be loaded."  I've read a few other boards on this issue, so I am now doing a thorough virus scan and will include results as soon as they're available.  But I am not confident about moving forward with any of the paths I've seen laid out, and some of them don't apply if you can't access the admin account anyway, so I wanted to start a thread here (I've gotten fabulous help here several times before).  It's running Vista Home Premium SP2.  AVG 2013 Internet Security.  Can't think what other specs may be relevant, but am happy to provide whatever would be of use.  Thanks!!

Answer:User Profile svc failed logon. User profile can't be loaded." on admin acct.

I got the same message when attempting to login on Windows 7, after no previous problems or changes before shutdown the night before. It continued to loop back to the logon screen even after rebooting. I ended up having to log on in Safe Mode, then do a system restore to restore back to the last restore point, which was a system checkpoint a couple of days earlier. That fixed it, and I've had no problems since. I hope that helps.

Hello,

I create a new Outlook 2003 profile, complete the data for the ISP e-mail and then start Outlook using the new profile. The 10 days of saved e-mails at the ISP download. These are duplicates and not a problem.

My old PST was named Outlook1. I also have a new PST named Outlook which I guess was created with the new profile.

I want to use Outlook1 as my only PST or I want to move all of the data from Outlook1 into the new PST named Outlook. What is the best procedure to accomplish this?

I'll save your answer so I don't have to ask again.

Thank you

Answer:using an existing PST file in a new Outlook 2003 profile

two choices
you can set outlook1 as a data file and read it from there or

I would copy both the outlook .pst files somewhere as a backup
on the exchange directory I would delete outlook.pst and replace it with outlook1.pst and rename outlook1.pst to outlook.pst

now open outlook and it should see your old outlook1.pst as the main service
at whatever state it was last in when you copied it

Answer:Need to access outlook with new user profile

Hi and Welcome to EightForums,

You will need to recreate the outlook profile on the new user account you have created, when setting this up you will need to re-enter the settings like you did when you first set it up.

Once set up it will download your emails from the server.

Have you already done this and missing something?

Hi, I just did the same thing with Outlook 2002. Locate the .pst file. Usually it's located in this folder:
C:\Documents and Settings\[username]\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook (change [username] to your user id.

Copy this to the new computer.

You will still need to recreate your email account settings.

Hope this helps.

Double-click the Mail icon .
On the Services tab, click Show Profiles.

Hello all,

I write you to give my experience about this annoying MS Office error. I tried almost all solutions explained in this forum, all solutions from http://support.microsoft.com, but none of them helped me completely. That includes:
- uninstall and then install from all accounts. Uninstall includes deleting all Office related files on hard drives and deleting all Office related registries
- perform a Windows Restore form a day that MS Office was generally working via Run->msconfig->Launch System Restore
- give permissions to "everyone" for C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Microsoft\OFFICE\DATA or delete these files
- delete MSO.dll and then repair MS Office in C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\OFFICE11. I also tried with other MSO.dll files
- I also deleted my account on my PC and created a brand new account with the same name(I could not afford to change it)
- go to user account that has a working MS Office. Run->regedit go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office and under the menu File->Export. After that go to normal user and open registry again and under the menu File->Import. I have to tell that this last fix has an impact! It removed the annoying error, but only MS Word was working as expected. Every other MS application was taking one of main CPU's cores and stopped working. So Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint were braking every time.

Finally, I solved the problem by performing a Windows repair... Read more

I have a Dell laptop that has Windows Vista. Received the below message after I typed in my password for the adminstrator account

The User Profile Service failed the logon. User Profile cannot be loaded

I went into Safe Mode and was able to get to the desktop of the laptop. I attempted to go to administrative tools to try and add a new user account but I don't see an option for that.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

thanks

I've searched for about a week now and have not found a solution. I followed the suggestions about the corrupt Profile and the .BAK SID, but neither are my situation.

My SID is fine - I did manage to find a temporary fix. If I delete and recreate the user in Active Directory on the server it fixes the problem. The problem is, I have 300 computers and every morning there are at least 10 - 15 users I must do this to. Not an ideal solution.

We bypassed Vista, so we had no idea that this Microsoft bug existed until last week.

Hi
Recently i have had a few users in our domain unable to logon due to this error. To fix the issue  i have been deleting their local profile and then logging back on so they pick up the mandatory profile stored on the server and everything then works
fine.
Server is running server 2008 r2 and workstations are running windows 7 pro.
I have just noticed the below error in the event logs on a few of the affected machines.
Windows cannot copy file \\?\C:\Users\lnyberg\AppData\Local\Temp\jds1029303519.tmp\ to location \\?\UNC\CM-DC01$NOCSC$\Profiles$\StaffNew.V2\AppData\Local\Temp\jds1029303519.tmp\. This error may be caused by network problems or insufficient security
rights.

DETAIL - Access is denied.
Is this what could be causing the issue with logging on? I am a bit confused as to why it would be trying to copy a temp file back to the mandatory profile on the server.
Any ideas would be great
Thanks
Shane

Hello. I am new here. I know absolutely nothing about computers, so I wasn't even sure where I should post this thread. Please help. I am desperate. Here I will explain what the issue is AND what I tried  to do to fix it. But I failed. Recently I've had issues with my computer randomly opening a lot of windows on it's own. Yesterday I was away and my computer was on and when I came back I saw about 50 new tabs opened and all almost my computer icons seemed to have disappeared. I assumed it was just some computer mistake because no way everything go deleted on its own. Hey Guys so this happened to my laptop the other day and I have only got round to fixing it now, I tried a few options like editing the .bak files etc with no luck so I recovered what I could and just deleted the user profile an that seemed to of fixed the issue.

I was just wondering if their is anyway to delete the data off the old user user profile without having to format the hard drive. As its still taking up space on my hard drive even though the profile is deleted.

Many thanks in advance

Damian

Answer:The User Profile Service failed the logon. User profile cannot be loaded

Hello Damian, and welcome to Vista Forums.

Since you have already deleted the user account through the Control Panel, you should be able to just delete C:\Users\(user-name) folder for the old user account while logged in the new account.

Hope this helps,

Today, Dec.20th, I wanted to create a standard user account for testing.
I named it Test.
When I tried to log on to Test account, I received the above message.
I used the tutorial compiled by Shawn but failed :
The User Profile Service failed the logon. User profile cannot be loaded. - Vista Forums

Problems :
1. I don't remember when was the last time I successfully created a new user account. Therefore, not knowing which is the good restore point for this matter.
2. The tutorial mentioned SID key with .bak at the end.
There are 3 SID keys, but none has .bak at the end.
3. name of ProfileImagePath is as follow ...........
a.1001 belongs to t-4-2
b. 500 belongs to Administrator
c. 501 belongs to Guest
I don't see the SID key for the Test account.
Therefore, I am stuck. not knowing how to proceed.

see screenshot :

Please advise.
Thank you.

P.S. Guest account was NEVER activated.

The SID key for the user profile will not be created until the first time a newly created user account is logged on to.

I would like to create a new user and migrate all data/settings/etc. from an existing user to the new user, on the same computer. Reason is some conflicting names between some computers on the same network and a Windows Home Server.

I tried changing the name of the user, but that doens't change the name of the profile. That created some confusion with Remote Desktop. Seems that even though I changed the user name, I had to log on via Remote Desktop using the old user name.

I've read about a method of creating the new user, logging on then off, logging on as the old user and just copying all the files from one user to the other after turning on show system and hidden files, etc. That doesn't migrate any settings I wouldn't think, only files. And another problem is there isn't enough hdd space to copy the profile, not sure what to do other than get a larger hdd, which I could do if totally needed.

I looked at the USMT, a little, but it looked like a lot of work for what I was doing.

I've also seen a 21 step method by Joshua Mouch which still involved copying the files.

Is there a way to just change the user name and then change the profile name that coincided with that user? That way no files are copied or moved, just changing the profile name associated with that user.

edit: I just found this, does this really work? That's all I want to do, change the user name and have that profile name match the user name.

I try my colleague login id as well. His user account was also in the Finance OU. but he cannot login. he get the user profile service failed the logon. user profile cannot be loaded. This is cause by OU or is it the windows issue? i have try to rejoin the domain same problem. I have a very bad problem with my PC. It started yesterday and the vista system repair came up and scanned my computer. When it finished I clicked finish and my PC restarted then it did it again..and again...and again.
Then I went into safe mode and virus scanned everything but came up with nothing. So I restarted my PC and it said The user profile service failed the logon. User profile cannot be loaded. So I clicked ok then my user account came up somehow. I clicked it and it took me to desktop except that half of my programs were gone and like nothing worked, all my documents, downloads, pictures were all gone. I can't do anything on that computer, can anyone help please??(I have googled it but none of the solutions work so I want to find an answer specific to my problem)

Answer:The User Profile Service failed the logon. User Profile cannot be loaded

Most likely it is loading a temporary profile.

First try a system restore to see if can recover the user profile.
http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/using-windows-vista-system-restore/

If system restore fails to load while in windows or you get errors, try it from the recovery environment http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/tutorial142.html
Here is another solution to try if SR fails to work for you, it shows you how to create a new user account, then log into the new account and copy your old profile over to the new account. This article is for XP but the process is the same for Vista. See "Moving to a new user profile"

I recently tried working with my Sony VAIO Desktop. I upgraded from Windows XP to Windows 7 and ever since I did this I have had a few problems (keyboard would disable after the W7 OS Loaded, etc.) I have been working to remedy this problem and others by 1) cleaning up the hard drive, registry, memory, etc. using AVG Antivirus which I recently installed and its family of products, 2) updating drivers to Video Controller and Storage Controller which AVG alerted I needed to update in Device Manager.

I attempted to update the drivers to the two controllers mentioned above and as windows started to search the internet for solutions after 1-2 hours, I did not get a response and my screen/OS became unresponsive so I had to do a cold boot. (powered off for 15 cycles - standard).

I rebooted my system this morning to find that once I logged on I got - "User Profile Service failed the Logon- User Profile Cannot be loaded" press Ok and it sent me back to the Windows 7 SP1 logon screen again. (looping)

Please provide any knowledge on what to do to remedy this issue. Thanks in advance. Daveq

Anyway I work in a small local computer repair shop and recently we had LOADS of Vista and Windows 7 machines with the error

We can repair the fault changing the profile from temporary profile path and swapped the .bak extension in registry.

But what the hell is causing it? We have had two machine back in within two weeks of initial repair. We figured windows update at first but its not a given.

Hi, at windows start i get the message "The User Profile Service failed to logon. User profile cannot be loaded". There was no known activity last time system was up and running and it was shut down normal.

The desctop(HP) was delivered some years ago with V7 installed, ONE personal userID with admin auth. was created. Then a System repair disc was created.

What is the safest and simplest way(if any) to fix this problem and maintain the user data?(I did see support strings about this problem but they seem very complicated and confusing to me)

1. Shoud I restart system some functional key to get into safe mode or use the System repair disc and then what option?

2. Should I then logon to the default accountID(not known to me), and restore system to older backup point or shoud I try to repair the personal UserId?

Please advice

Im trying to create a new user account on my computer, but every time i do that, Im unable to login to that name. Only the administrator account is accessible. All new accounts createdwill give me this message:
"The User Profile Service failed the logon. User profile cannot be loaded." This applies to the guest account as well.

If this helps, when you go to C:\Users, only the main account's folder and a folder called "Public" is present. Im pretty sure it should have showed the folder of the newly created account. Because of this, im unable to copy files from my main account to the new account as the folder for it does not exist.

This is frustrating as im trying to create an account for my brother with parental controls. But we cant even access it without it saying that the user profile cannot be loaded. How can I fix this?

I've been following these instructions from Microsoft:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/947215
I went to the registry editor and went to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\ProfileList. It seems that there isn't even any folder associated with the new account. I was only able to find a folder associated with the main account. But none for the new accounts.

Hi

I have a very annoying problem on wireless tablets running windows 8.1 update.
The tablets boot nice and fast (approx 30-35 seconds) to the ctrl + alt + del screen.
However the network mandatory profiles used by students do not work for another 60 seconds after that.
For the first 60 seconds or so after ctrl+alt+del shows up they get the error message "User Profile Service Failed the sign-in.  User profile cannot be loaded".  After that they
will login just fine.
We've looked at procmon bootlogs and it shows BADNETWORKPATH the first couple of times you try to call the network path to the mandatory profile.
We have tired setting various Group Policy Objects to force them to wait for the network based on various other posts on this  and other sites.
Always wait for the network, Wait for group policy processing, wait for network timeout etc.  None of them seem to make any difference.

Can somebody explain to me how to resolve this issue.
Cheers

I have literally tried every solution found online and NOTHING seems to work.  Our environment, Windows server 2008 domain controller, Windows 7 Pro x64 bit PC's.  Trying to login as a domain user and get the error " User Profile Service failed
the logon.  User profile cannot be loaded".  I can only login with the domain Administrator account, or the local administrator account.  We are NOT using Roaming profiles.  The application event logs do have event error 1500 and event
warning 1509.... see screenshot below.

What I have tried:
Microsoft FixIT 50446
Tried editing the SID's out of the registry manually per KB
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/947215
Deleted all domain user profiles from machine
Removed PC from domain and rejoined
Deleted user account from Active Directory and recreated
Verified GPO was not configured to "allow users to logon with temporary profiles"
SFC /scannow
Fresh install of Windows 7 Pro
Live Essentials was never installed (some forums referred to the .sqm file fron event ID 1509 possible relating to an issue with Live Essentials)
Google update was never installed (remember seeing it referred to in a forum as well)

I am now out of ideas..  This has been an ongoing issue for about a month and I am finally admitting defeat.  This is my last effort to get help before breaking down and paying the $259 to Microsoft to help resolve it.

Hi Phillip,

I would like to verify whether the issue only occurs on special Windows 7 computer or on all Windows 7 computers.

I suggest checking the permission of the user profile folders and Default folder. Make sure the users has full control of their profile folders.

Meanwhile, ensure the users are the owner of the C:\Users\theirname\NTUSER.dat. Also, please put NTUSER.dat in the security software exclusion

Answer:The User Profile Service Failed to Logon User Profile Cannot be loaded

Hello John,

You might see if the tutorial below may be able to help fix this for you. User Profile Service failed the logon. User profile cannot be loaded.
If not, then I'd recommend to turn off the Guest account, delete any 501 key below found for the C:\Users\Guest account at the same registry location in the tutorial above, delete the C:\Users\Guest folder, and restart the computer. This will give you a fresh start with the Guest account as if you never turned it on.

I googled how to fix it. I now can't get to my photos from my other user account. How can I get to them so I can burn them on a DVD and clear up some of my hard drive? I can still see they are there in my Picasa program just can't get to them on desktop now.

Greetings,

A couple of days ago when booting up my computer informed me it could not load my profile (XP proffessional) so was creating a temporary profile for me. I found a post http://forums.techguy.org/windows-xp/951831-lost-personal-settings-boot-up.html about recovering lost profiles and followed the instructions (create new profile copy of local settings from my old to my new profile). Time to get my e-mal back. I have followed the instructions for recovering Outlook Express files (*dbx) but they won't import into Outlook 2003.

Any thoughts?

Thanks,
Marc

Answer:Solved: Recovering Outlook 2003 files from corupt profile

OK, figured it out myself but will post for anyone else who runs in the same problem.

1st make sure you have set your windows explorer to view system files and hidden files

1. go to old profile/application data/ mircrosoft/ outlook and copy the Outlook data file (this is a .pst file)
2. paste this on the desktop of your new profile
3. Open Outlook go to File->import export
4. Select: Import from another program or file click next
5. Scroll down to: Personal Folder file (.pst) click next
6. Browse to select file location of Outllok data file, select do not import duplicates
7. make sure you select checkbox for "include subfolders" and import items into the same folder in "Personal Folders"
8. click Finish

This imported all my e-mails, contacts, calenders but did not import my e-mail rules. No bigie, I can recreate the rules easily

Cheers,
Marc

This workstation [Windows 10 Pro x64] has Office Home & Business 2010 freshly setup on it. From reading, declined to touch Outlook before the customer gets it and puts on the LAN internally. There have been obviously a lot of issues just getting the initial Profile setup right: the icon/applet might be missing from the Control Panel altogether, registry keys can be missing or invalid, Outlook may start in Safe Mode unexpectedly. etc. This thread is an example of such diseases and some cures, as of 3 yrs back: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/o...d-332bf1cd90de

Some of you have been through this and know the ropes. Please point me to a link or something that does the best job of explaining how to do this AT THIS TIME [given all the updates etc to this date] 1] if Control Panel entry is RIGHT, and 2] what to do if that "recommended" approach fails.
I thank you SO MUCH in advance. These poor folks have been through a lot and I want to get them started clean on this try

P.S./edit: is it necessary to first setup "Outlook" as the default Email app in "Settings" ?

First time poster, but I think I've done my homework on this issue. This issue has similar symptoms to a problem with vista: http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/130095-user-profile-service-failed-logon-user-profile-cannot-loaded.htmlHowever, it is definitely not the same issue (see further).Current Config:HP dv7-1450.W7 RC 7100 x64Last update (up to date as of 8/31/09) installed succesfully 8/26/09 and should be unrelated to this issue (not verified yet by a pre-update restore).Running with Admin account while diagnosing/troubleshooting.Currently have two working accounts, one standard, one admin.Symptom:New user accounts cannot be logged into.  On an attempted login to the new account, the following information is displayed on the login screen:  "The User Profile Service service failed the logon.  User profile cannot be loaded."  Windows then logs off the operator and returns to the initial user selection screen.  All other aspects of use are normal.Current Diagnostics:First attempts to resolve this problem were to recreate the new account.  This was attempted when logged in as both Standard and Admin.  This was also attempted under safe mode.  This has been attempted with virus protection disabled.  All to no difference in the symptom. The similarity to the Vista issue (linked above) caused me to check the registry entry under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\ProfileList\ for the new profile (as suggested by that link).  Unlik... Answer:W7: User Profile Service service failed at log on: Apparently W7 is no longer creating any user profile data other than username and picture.

It could be this version  error "User profile service..." http://www.brooks-bilson.com/blogs/rob/index.cfm/2009/1/5/Fix-for-Vistas-The-User-Profile-Service-service-failed-the-logon-User-profile-cannot-be-loaded
Great find Flav! While I didn't resolve or have the exact issue 'Brooks-bilson's had, one of the comments on this blog entry (http://www.brooks-bilson.com/blogs/rob/index.cfm/2009/1/5/Fix-for-Vistas-The-User-Profile-Service-service-failed-the-logon-User-profile-cannot-be-loaded#c42AB7AE6-0B26-9AF4-6DB3C7B226C688B4) did have a comment that worked.First I renamed the file "\Users\Default\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Live\SqmApi\SqmData720896_00.sqm" to \Users\Default\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Live\SqmApi\SqmData720896_00.sqm.bakInterestingly, this failed (bolded to help skimming folks).  However, actually moving the file out of the directory (effectively deleting it) did work.  This file was definately related to the problem, but exactly why W7 wasn't able to copy this (such as insufficient permissions or too long name error) is still unresolved.A little bit of information about the process Vista (and presumedly W7) goes through is well laid out in the referenced blog, and I recommend it for education.Unless it pops up again, I'm considering this issue closed and won't be monitoring it.  I hope everyone dealing with this W7 issue finds this helpful. Thanks again, Flav, for the find.D

Hello
we had a windows server 2008 Domain network.
now we have deployed a brand new windows server 2012 R2 forest.
so we must disjoin client computers from previous domain and join them to this new domain.
when users of this new domain login to their computers, new profile folder is created for them (e.g. c:\users\u1.newdomain.lab, but this folder definitely doesn't contain their previous profile folder contents (desktop, documents, App data....)
what is the best solution to migrate user profiles from each previous user to related new user without any problem ?
i tried copying the entire profile folder of each user & replace it on the profile folder new user, but some problem arises, when this new user tries to login using this replaced profile folder.
i am not sure is it right forum to ask user profile related question?
thanks in advanced

Replace the Corrupted Default User Profile on the Computer with a good one and then try to create a new user profile.

Earlier this week I was having a problem with another program that I thought was being caused by something corrupt in my workstation's domain user profile. So using the machine's local admin user, I renamed my domain user profile folder to something else, deleted the registry key for that user profile, then rebooted and logged back on with my domain user name. This created a new user profile folder in C:\Users. Then I went about copying my files over, bookmarks, set up all my e-mail accounts again and imported calendar and contacts from the file in the old user profile, etc.

Well now my Outlook 2010 will not display a desktop alert when new mail arrives, and sometimes won't even make the sound for new mail. I have 3 different IMAP accounts on my Outlook, with my office e-mail being the default account. Desktop alerts have always worked fine on this machine, with Outlook 2010, with this e-mail account, before recreating my user profile. Now suddenly it doesn't want to work at all. The little mail icon shows on the far lower right, but I run dual widescreen displays and I don't always see that icon way over there. I'd rather have the desktop alert pop up near the middle (right of left screen, or left of right screen) where I'm more likely to see it.

I tried turning desktop alerts off and back on in Options. Also tried right-clicking the Outlook icon in the system tray and turning Show New Mail Desktop Alert off and back on. Nothing seems to be working. Any ideas?

Answer:Outlook 2010 Desktop Alerts not working after recreating user profile

Anyone have an idea what might be wrong here? It's really annoying to click back to Outlook (underneath other programs open) and have a bunch of new emails because I didn't notice when they came in.

One of my users cannot seem to see this certain image. It was sent to her from a Graphics Design Agency. If I get on her account and forward to anyone else, they can see the image. If they forward it back, she cannot see the image.

I have made sure Outlook will automatically download pictures, I have also experimented and turned security settings to low, defualt, and custom. All with no avail.

So anyone have any theorys?

I have tried to set up a second email address in Outlook 2003. My settings are correct per the ISP provider (pop 3 server) and i know i can send and recieve from the ISP's webmail server, but Outlook cannot connect and asks me for user id and password, which i input and it still keeps asking me. What gives, please

Answer:Outlook 2003 always asks for user Id and p/w

Hi
Are the SMTP settings correct on the new account?
THere are a couple of fixes that I know of to this problem.
1. The password your service provider has been entered incorrectly in the 'New account' section
2. If the SMTP settings and password is correct, than it may be worth deleting that account and starting from scratch in adding a new one.

When i used to user Outlook 2003 I had this issue and to fix it, I had to do the second option

Hope this helps
Thanks

Just created a new user for my home desktop. How do I access Outlook 2003 for a new user in Windows 7?

Answer:Outlook 2003 set up for new user in WIndows 7

Login using the new user account and start outlook and follow the set up process and enter the email account details you want to set up.start > programs > Microsoft Office > Microsoft Office Outlook 2003If you just installed Outlook 2003, or have never setup an email account in it, Outlook will offer you to setup an email account as soon as it opens. If nothing happens, or if you already have email accounts setup in Outlook, simply initiate the email account setup process by going to Tools > E-mail Accounts, and the new email account wizard will pop up.See this tutorialOr this tutorial___________________________________________? Everything worked fine with the RC, both profiles. When I put in the RTM I found that I can have OL2003 on one profile.I put it one mine and it works great. I restart the puter to my wife's profile and try to install and poop.I remove OL then install to my wife's profile IT WORKS. Then restart to my profile to find the same problem.I'm the absent minded professor type. Sure there is one little thing I'm doing wrong...

Answer:W7 & Outlook 2003 RC vs. RTM on two user profiles

Is there an option in the installation process to only install on the current user's profile? I see this a lot in program installations, and it's possible you overlooked it. This would theoretically keep you from installing it on other profiles (assuming that is the cause).

I do not use a software-based email client (all mine is in a browser), so I have no advice as far as that goes. Somebody with more OL knowledge could probably give you some more helpful advice, but for now, that's all I got.

Best of luck to you.

Hi all. Recently upgraded to W10 from 8.1 and am now trying to create a new profile for my partner. I am able to create it so that it appears in the Accounts section and on the login page but when I try to login with it I get the error: user profile profile service failed sign in.

I have googled this and see that it has been an issue for many users since W7 but there don't seem to be any fixes online that work. One of the primary fixes listed to to make edits to the user in the registry but the user does NOT appear in the registry at all - I only have myself listed and a separate Admin user.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Hello Martin, and welcome to Ten Forums.

Usually when this is happening for new accounts that have not yet had their user profile setup, you'll need to refresh Windows.

The thread title is a problem that I've been having while trying to create a new profile for work on my laptop. This is the error message that happens every time I try to log into this profile. All the help I've been able to find online has involved old profiles having this error, but I'm only getting this error with newly created profiles. The regedit solution that the windows site gives doesn't work because my computer isn't creating a path in the registry to that user account apparently, and I honestly have no idea how to fix this.

I am having a strange problem trying to reinstall Outlook 2003 after reinstalling entire system (XP-SP3). I use partitioning imaging software and have an image established with all MS security and system updates through 4/3/09. I then install MS Office 2003. It seems to install fine except for Outlook. Note there are 2 users on this machine, both with Administrator rights.
Outlook sets up just fine for user 1.
For user 2, when opened it brings up a window indicating a need to install MS Office 2003, with some brief activity shown, and to then another to configure MS Office 2003, maybe 2 repititions. All show something progressing. Then once the Outlook window fully opens, I went through basic setup process for email acounts, getting interrupted by more small windows stating MS Office needs to be configured. Every time Outlook is opened again it goes through 2 of these before the window actually opens, then up to 10 or so after the window is opened, and more if I try to send email or something.
I re-did the MS Office install several times using 3 different installation disks (2 were borrowed for testing purposes) after rewriting the partition. I even tried using a different fairly new partition. All yield same results.
I tried downloading MS Office updates from MS in hopes they would jar something free, but no help there either (no surprise).
So please, any ideas or suggestions as to what I can do would be appreciated. Office and Outlook worked just fine before the system rei... Read more
