Macro for Subject Line in Outlook email

Question: Macro for Subject Line in Outlook email

Hi,
I send multiple emails all with the same information in the subject field. No, I'm not spamming. I'm sending order confirmations. I would like to set up one of the function keys on my keyboard to automatically populate the Subject fields.

Example:
Open a new email
Curser is in the Subject field
Automaticlly populate "THank-you for your Order"

I found a section for Macros in the Tool bar but am clueless. ANy help would be much apprecaited. THanks!

Preferred Solution: Macro for Subject Line in Outlook email

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi all

Looking for some help! Working on an excel document which contains a button I need to send to multiple people, that's fine what I need is for the subject field of the email to take the contents of a particular cell in the workbook and display that. My current code is;
Code:
Sub SendThis_ActiveWorkbook()

Dim Recip()
With ActiveWorkbook

ReDim Preserve Recip(0)
Recip(0) = "[EMAIL="[email protected]"][email protected][/EMAIL]"
ReDim Preserve Recip(1)
Recip(1) = "[EMAIL="[email protected]"]example[/EMAIL][EMAIL="[email protected]"][email protected][/EMAIL]"
.SendMail Recipients:=Recip, _
Subject:="Vacancy Authorisation " & Format(Date, "dd/mmm/yy")
End With

End Sub
Basically I want the subject to be "Vacancy Authorisation [cell contents] 01/01/2000" so I want the contents of a cell to appear in between the date and the "vacancy authorisation" part of the subject line. Assistance appreciated!

Answer:Solved: Excel email macro auto-populate subject line

Subject:="Vacancy Authorization " & Range("A1").Value & " " & Format(Date, "dd/mmm/yy")

Although decently experience with excel, I am quite new with VBA and I cannot "record" this macro, so any help writing this in VBA is much appreciated.

1) I need to create a macro that will take a number that is entered into a cell, and upon hitting a button in the excel sheet create an email where the subject line is the number that was in that original cell.

1b)I would like to do this without changing the name of the excel file though, or at least have another macro that resets the file to its original name.

2) Also, if possible, the same macro/vba as above, only with two cells, a number in one and a name in the other, which then shows up as "Number-Name" as the subject line in the email.

Thanks to anyone that can help - Mike

I write many emails to potential clients, and find myself writing the same subject line all day long!
I would like to have a button I can hit to create a new email containing my subject line.

I found a 'Macro' script online and it worked for a day, then after trying to get it to work, I deleted it and I can't find the same script to make it work again.

Is a Macro the only option I have, or is there another way to resolve this?
If Macro is the only option..
Do you have a Macro script to put in my outlook>Toolbar>marco folder, and drag to the tool bar?

Thoughts??

Thanks!!

Answer:Outlook 07, Create a macro to have auto-subject line in emails

Can't you just create your email message and then save as a template? You can then either click on the template to open it or you can use a simple macro to open it.

Hi

I doubt this question has been posted before, however, I apologise if it has.

I have absolutely no VBA programming experience, however, have heard of a number of useful macros that can be created using them.

I am using Outlook 2002. I work in a team of 10 and we are required action requests from customers as and when they come in. This normally works on a first come first served basis, where we assign our names to the e-mail to show that we are dealing with it. The only problem is, I have the slowest of computers and cant seem to keep up with my colleagues!

I want to create a macro (to which I have received permission from manager already), that would carry out the below; ever time I click on the unread e-mail and then press the MACRO BUTTON (which I will drag onto my toolbar):

1) flag the e-mail to follow up (no deadline)
2) mark as read
3) and ADD the words "Shaz is dealing with -" on the subject line, BEFORE the rest of the subject line details.
4) automatically saves it, therefore, everyone will be able to see it straight away, and know that I am dealing with it

I am not very fast with computers and this will save me alot of time. As mentioned earlier, my manager has sympathised with my situation, therefore, has allowed me to do this.

I would be so grateful for your help.

Thank you

Shaz

When sending an email using MS Outlook, is there any way to force a notification to come up when the subject line is inadvertently left blank?  This works with calendar appointments, where Outlook warns you before allowing you to set a meeting with a blank subject.

Answer:Outlook email subject line

Outlook doesn't have an option to alert you if the subject is missing. You can write a macro in VBA that will check for a blank subject. Look for code samples at Outlookcode.com.The following code checks for both a subject line and missing attachments:http://www.outlookcode.com/codedetail.aspx?id=553

Hi All. I know this has been looked at by others, But I can't find the solution.

I'm trying to get an automatic prompt on my users outlook that will give the users a choice of text to add to their Subject line.

All email we send will have various Protective markings, that will look like [PROTECTED] etc. there are about 8 different headings, with a default of [NON]. It would be great to have a prompt that shows all, with the default one first.

If any one can help that would be fantastic.

I know how to add an email address to my website, and how to add a name with something likemailto: Feedback>[email protected]But how would you insert a subject line like "A Questions about your books" or "Feedback on your website"?

Answer:Subject Line in Email Link

This site may mess it up but lets try:mailto:[email protected]?subject=A Question about your booksbasically you add ?subject= on the end of the email address and then just type the subject you want.

This is usually the fault of your security software on your machine. If you have email checking or anti phishing enabled in your security software then you probably need to adjust the parameters.

Folks,I hope this is the right forum!...A friend has recently set up a website for their business. It has a contact page which includes their business email address, which has now started receiving a lot of spam...Now I know there are lots of possible solutions to help avoiding this, and appropriate action will be taken, but I've had an idea and I wonder if it can be implemeted easily into the site code...I've suggested that a message appears by the email address indicating that a particular phrase needs to apper in the subject line of any email sent, or the email will be deleted without being read. A message rule can be set up on this email address, in the email client to implement this.I know the code for a hyperlink to send an email is straitforward... my question is;Is it easy/possible to have a hyperlink that not only brings up the email message, (ie "mailto"), but also inserts a default text in the Subject field?Thanks in anticipation,Regards,Simsy

Answer:automatic email subject line?

of slightly the opposite of what you suggest; Text inserted by default into the subject field that ISN'T deleted, so the message rule would look for it... but it boils down to the same thing...Whichever way it applies, the query is, can such text be inserted into the subject field automatically by clicking on the hyperlink on the webpage?Thanks in anticipation,Regards,Simsy

Certain email messages from companies like Travelocity and Booking.com include wingdings in the email subject lines. These show up fine on one of my PCs but on the other one they show up as boxes or question marks. Both PCs are running Windows 7 and Outlook 2010. I'm sure it's a font issue of some kind, but I can't figure out which font is missing from the one pc. I've attached screenshots of the subject lines from both pcs. This isn't a crucial issue by any means, it's just annoying me that I can't figure it out.

Answer:Email Subject Line Wingdings

I assume that Outlook has settings for default font, whether to allow messages to use other fonts, and other formatting details. Have you compared/contrasted those settings on the two system?

If that doesn't help look at the message source. Not suggesting that without a lot of effort you can determine the font used for the Subject, but at least you can see which fonts are used somewhere in the heading or body.

I'm using Outlook A when I open an email and then close it the subject line disapears. Also, I have to turn off paragraph marks in my replys. Thanks

Answer:when I open an email the subject line disapears

For the paragraph marks. it depends on which version of Outlook you are using, but in 2007, in 'reply', click on the 'orb' (top left) and select 'editor options', then click on 'display' and remove the ticks from all unwanted formatting marks.Most other settings are within the same section so you may find the 'subject' option there. Alternatively, click on 'Tools' menu and select 'Options'."I've always been mad, I know I've been mad, like the most of us..." Pink Floyd

Hello,

When I click on a craigslist ad my yahoo email subject line no longer automatically fills in. Anyone know how to get this handy feature back? Thanks for any help.

Answer:yahoo email subject line won't auto fill

This depends on what Web Browser you're using. Most likely it's Internet Explorer, and you had it set to remember something specific or auto fill for that field. Often times, these can be screwed up by future actions. To prevent this, I would suggest downloading and using a program called "RoboForm". It will remember and learn information that you apply to a certain field in a web page. Each field has a specific name given by the web developer which you probably don't even know of. It remembers the form field name given like: yahoo_subj_field and then auto inserts text you entered into this field previously. IE does much of the same thing but can be screwed up easily throughout time.

WEIRD! Any email sent to my comcast.net account just vanishes if it contains the word "freeze". I sent myself an email from my smartphone to remind myself to freeze some leftover food when I got home. The message was sent (confirmed) from my smartphone, but never received on my smartphone (including spam and trash folders). When I got home expected to find it on my desktop (Dell WindowsXP), but it wasn't there, not in Inbox, Spam folder, or Trash folder---just GONE. I then sent myself a new message with the Subject line "freeze". It was sent (confirmed in Sent box, not present in Outbox since it had been sent), but it never arrived. Then sent myself successive messages starting with "ze" (successful receipt), "eeze" (successful receipt), and "reeze" (succesful receipt). Then when I sent "freeze" it was sent but never received. Also "freezing" and "free" are never received. I checked my Preferences for any filters, but I have none set up for any specific word or phrases or senders, so I have not blocked anything. I thought "free" sounds like spam, but I have no such filter and my Spam box is empty. So then I went to the Sent email with "reeze" in subject line, which had been received, and forwarded it to myself but changed the word "reeze" in the previously successful send to "freeze"---and as amazing as it may seem, the forwarded message went through bu... I'm using Outlook 2002 with Windows ME. With EVERY email I send, the word [SPAM] is attached in the Subject line when it is received. Even those addresses that are listed in my "safe recipients" list.

I've tried everything! Can anyone help? Please....

Answer:Solved: [SPAM] in Outlook Subject Line

I'd suggest to you it is the receiver's e-mail client that is adding the [SPAM] and not your Outlook. Listing them in your "safe recipients" file will also not effect their receiving it. Somehow your e-mail is looking like spam to the receiver's e-mail program. There are several things that can cause this that include sending to many people at the same time or the subject line in the mail. Some programs deem anything from a domain is spam like "[email protected]'sCompany.com". The bottom line is that unless you change the above, it is out of your hands. Anyway, that's my view.

Hi
My mom has multiple accounts in Outlook 2007.

Her personal account and the account she uses for our little orchestra to send sheet music.

Is it possible to make that in each subject automatically is [SHEETMUSIC] or something like that? Or automatically make the message line in the inbox yellow or something? She just wants to see quickly that it's a confirmation for a received part.

Thx!

Martin

Answer:Automatically add subject line in Outlook 2007?

It is not clear to me - you are trying to sort incoming messages or outcoming.

To add specific subject line for newly created messages your mom can create a template and save that template whereever she wants or pin it somewhere and open template when she needs it.
In template you can predefine whatever you want - recepients, subject lines, text, appearance.
Send an e-mail message based upon a template - Outlook - Office.com
How to Create a Template in Outlook 2007 | eHow.com

To sort incoming message, you can assign Rules to message and outlook will sort them, move in sub-folder, flag them etc...

submit php form / web form / or just customize link (I have requests active on the field)
Hi all, I would really appreciate some help or direction on this. I searched web form on this forum and went 25 pages deep seeing nothing like this.

currently I have this working for me
Code:

IE.Visible = True

URL = "wwwDOTticketsystemDOTcom/admin/new_ticketDOTphp"
Request = "?name=john&subject=testing&message=testing123123123"

'get web page
IE.Navigate2 URL & Request
Do While IE.readyState <> 4
DoEvents
Loop

End Sub

takes me to website with the request info populated.

I am happy to do this 2 ways, either have the VBA script login and fill out the webform.. or just have the vba script populate the URL with data from the currently selected email/open email...
like in the code above the link should contain this to pre populate the form...

Answer:Spam**** before Subject in Subject line

The "spam" classification is either being added by your email provider's spam filtering service, or by your security software's email scanner.For example, my Norton Internet Security email scanner is integrated into Microsoft Outlook. If a message is classified as spam incorrectly, I can click a button in Outlook's toolbar called "This is not spam", then a dialog-box opens where I can tick the option "always trust messages from this email address". The message is then moved to my Inbox, with the "Spam" word removed.Now any new messages in future from that email address will not be marked as spam.However, any messages I send to myself are never classified as spam anyway, so I don't know what's happening in your case.

Most likely a spammer that has a faulty spam generation engine.

I would not attribute anything sinister to it, I get similar things here from time to time.

All the addresses are in their BCC field so you don't see any at your end, thats quite common.

In Outlook 2007, I often receive e-mail responses from people where the line spacing in their message (and in my original e-mail to which they are responding) has been set to Auto, which looks like double-spaced text.I hate going through the trail of attached e-mails changing the line spacing back to get rid of the extra space, but not doing it means that I must do a lot more scrolling to see what I'm responding to.I wanted to create a simple macro for changing the line spacing of the selected text, but Outlook has no "macro record" button! So I had to write one. In order to do this, I recorded the same macro in Word, then copied the macro code to a new macro in Outlook. But when I run it, it doesn't work at all. I get an error message: "The macros in this project are disabled. Please refer to the online help or documentation of the host application to determine how to enable macros."Previously I had a different error. I used the following code: With Selection.ParagraphFormat .SpaceBefore = 0 .SpaceBeforeAuto = False .SpaceAfter = 0 .SpaceAfterAuto = False .LineSpacingRule = wdLineSpaceSingle End WithAnd I had an error that "Selection" was not defined (or something like that).What do I need to do to get this to work?T

When I look in outlook it says in the from column [email protected] and when I open the email and hit reply it shows the buyers email address in the to box and not [email protected] and when I look at the properties of the email the buyers email shows up as
From: "[email protected]" <[email protected]>

X-Email-Type-Id: PPX000600

Reply-To: One 506 Media <[email protected]>

If i open the email and select reply it will show [email protected] in the to field.

You think there is any way to prevent that so it goes to the buyer.

It seems to me that if it were possible to open the email and then auto reply it would go to the buyer and then close the email again.

Would it be possible to do with a macro so that when an email comes in it will run the macro, open the email, reply and then close the email ?

Regards

I'm working in a ticketing system that requires me to copy and paste emails along with headers and whatnot to tickets. Right now I click "reply" and copy and paste and close the 2 windows. I was wondering if there's a way that copies all the data of an email into the clipboard to save myself a considerable amount of time on a day to day basis.

G'Day everyone,

Firstly, thank you for this super-awesome website. I can spend my whole day trawling through the gems here which make my life so much more easier!!

I have a question:

I am trying to write an Outlook 2007 Macro which has me a bit stumped.

We get a system generated email which tells us which staff is late for which department. The Managers then send an email to their departments only extracting the info from this email.

I have a rule currently set up which dumps this daily email to the "Sick and Lates" folder. I then go there everyday at 9:30 am, copy the names of the guys in my department and send an email to the DL.

I am trying to automate this so that whenever a sick and late email arrives, Outlook will pick up the names of the people in my department only, chuck them in a separate email addressed to a specific distribution list and fire away.

I had a look at other posts but am stumped.....help, please?

For a few weeks now I have been receiving email from unknown senders (I delete them all without opening them) who use the same Subject line. Some of these subjects have been "FN wrote:"; "Re: news nnn"; "it me FN"; "hi it's LN"; "Good Morning FN"; "Re: good nnn". The last few days I have received probably 50 or 60 with the Subject line of "RE: Report", and a few with the Subject line "LN FINANCIAL REPORT".

(Where "FN" = first name of sender; "LN" = last name of sender; "n" = number)

I prided myself for many years for not receiving junk or spam, but it looks like something has happened here. I've no idea what to do at this point.

I use AVG for virus scan (update overnight daily), and am running Version 7 IE with Windows XP Professional.

I'm hoping someone can confirm that as long as I don't open these darned messages that I can look on them as merely annoyances. If that's not the case, please help.

Answer:Replication of Subject line in emails

You should report these messages to your ISP as spam. This way they can block them on their end, and you won't see them at all.

Answer:How to get text red in Outllok subject line?

Hi dodge7

Welcome to Tech Support Guy Forums!

I use Outlook 97, so I do not have color coding options available in that version.

Perhaps there is a Rule set up in your Outlook (version?) that is causing some of your email subject lines to be color coded?
Look in these areas:
View > Current View > Custom
View > Arrange By > Custom... > button Automatic Formatting
Tools > Organize

See this link for how to set up messages *you* receive, that are color coded.
http://www.howto-outlook.com/Howto/coloremailadvanced.htm

I don't know if it is possible to *Send* messages with a colorful Subject line.
But, hey it could happen

Let us know what you find.

A client of mine has a regular Contact Us form on her site. She's asking if it's possible to have a link elsewhere on the site that, when clicked, goes to the form and has a subject field pre-filled in. The caveat is that this form still needs to exist as a generic Contact Us form when a user navigates to it directly, so I can't just have the subject line exist in the form already: the link has to go to the form page and fill in the field.

Is something like that possible? I know you can create subject-filled mailto links using the ?subject= code, but've never tried to do it with a link to a form and can't think how it might be done. The simpler the better as the site is just .shtml, nothing fancy.

Thanks,
m19

Answer:COLOURED TEXT ON SUBJECT LINE OF EMAILS

Outlook 2000, you can change the colour of the font, but it would affect the whole email not just the suject line (Unless you want to change it back after the subject) Although you could still use the colour coding for different subjects. When setting up a default subject line in Exchange, will that subject line still be intact when an outsider sends an email? If so, how do you set this?

Why I'm asking is because a Blackberry can only hold one exchange profile via BES. I have two exchange accounts and was thinking of forwarding emails from the 2nd account to my main account. However, in order to distinguish which emails are from which account, I'd like to set a default subject line in the 2nd account.

TIA

Answer:Default subject line on Exchange question

You just need to create a rule on the 2nd account. It'll tag incoming messages as you desire. There's a guide here: http://pubs.logicalexpressions.com/pub0009/LPMArticle.asp?ID=415 ,
but a google search for "setting outlook rules" will yield lots more.

Dear All,

I am using Outlook 2003 and receive many emails a day with huge attachments, you all know what that means.
I am looking for a macro that I can run on a specific inbox folder to store all attachements of that email inbox subfolder into folders on my harddisk. But the macro should create subfolders with the senders names so that I can easily find the attachments and asign them to emails. The makro should also add a comment to the email that the attachement has been stored on a certain date to the HD.

Does naybody have an idea how to solve this ?

Thanks

I have Word 2003. I do a lot of literature reviews, copying and pasting from .pdf files. When I do this, the text is pasted into word only filling a partial page. I want the text to completely fill a line within the margins. So I manually go to the end of a sentence, hit the space bar once, the delete once to delete the new line/paragraph marker. Sometimes I have to do that twice. Then I go to the next sentence and repeat the steps until it is all completed. It seems this would be a good use of a macro. I can record a macro and go through these steps once but not looping through every line until the end. Can someone please help?

First thing you can do before you give up is change your password.

Ok for some reason when I try to delete an email from my inbox, it doesnt actually delete it, but draws a line through it?

How do I change the settings so it just fully deletes it?

Also, I seem to be linked up with a bunch of RSS feeds that are in my "Unread Mail"? How do I unlink with them so I dont continually get a bunch of junk mail like this?

Thanks.

Answer:Outlook doesnt delete email, only draws a line thru it?

That suggests you are using IMAP rather than a POP3 mail server. When using IMAP, the messages remain until you Purge them.

Hi

When you make a hyperlink there's a option of selecting email. Which then makes a box appear asking the me to insert the email address, subject line and body of text.

what I would like to do is auto-populate the subject line with words written in the document--or---auto populate the subject line with the contents of a fill-in form field.

Is this possible -- Oh i'm using Microsoft Word 2003.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Anyone noticed this on Freeserve/Wanadoo...The subject of the email is altered if their filter "thinks" that the email is *** SPAM ***Took me about a month to figure that out by the way.Question: Can it be turned off?

Answer:*** SPAM *** in an Email Subject

Don't know if it can be turned off or not (try Wanadoo for that!!) but it is something that has been around for a while. Other ISPs did use [AD] to indicate something was an advert.Personally I don't see it really having any value since the rest of the subject will normally be enough of an indication as to the usefulness of the message.

Sent an email to a known person at a legitimate business email address. The receiver replied to my email using the normal "Reply" option in their email client. The "Subject" in the reply was rather strange and as I have not seen this before I am wondering why...

Subject in original email : Communication Options
Subject in reply email R: [ !!SPAM ] Communication Options

What caused the R: [ !!SPAM ] to be added to the Subject...?

T.

Answer:Strange addition to Subject in email

When my older daughter replies to my mail to her company account the subject is "Re: [EXTERNAL] the actual subject." I'm rather sure that the company incoming mail server adds the "[EXTERNAL."

I strongly guess that in your case the company mail server adds the "[ !!SPAM ]. I assume that designation is erroneous for your mail but maybe there is something in your message or the headers that trigger it.

The "R:" I would guess is a bug in their email client--should be "Re:" as with other mail.

I have to admit that I am not 'well versed' in this subject.
However, I came across this guide, which appeared to me, to be quite versatile:

Hi everyone, rookie here messing around in a VBA module with Outlook. Im stumped on how to test the subject on email with attachments in my inbox. The code I have below works, as for as saving the attached files, but I need to test the Subject of the email to save the attached file to the correct folder

[font=Arial][size=2]On Error GoTo Att_err[/size][/font]

I am running OE 6.0 with Windows XP Home. My Outlook Express will only save one message with each subject. If I receive or send a message with the same subject as another message in my inbox or outbox it does not save in the message in these folders. What could couse this problem?

Answer:Outlook Express Subject Saving

Are you sure they are there, just "stacked"?? Is there a plus (+) before the subject?? If so click on it.

Can anyone help with creating a button to insert a standard phrase into the Subject field of an Outlook 2002 email message? For instance I want to be able to insert "Internet-authorised: " when I email onto the Internet instead of the company LAN.

Answer:Standard Subject Field in Outlook

I believe a macro, with a button linked to it, is the solution.  At the moment, I can't tell you how to do that.  I've never created a macro in Outlook but I see it can not be done as easily in Word and Excel; you can not simply use the Macro Recorder, you have to open the Visual Basic editor and create code there.  I happen to have recently obtained two libary references on Outlook, a book and a DVD.  If I can find time to delve into this further and get an actual macro recorded, I'll post the coding for it.

If i send a message to an address in the GAL or External client and there is NO SUBJECT the message will NOT be delivered to the recipients mailbox. If there IS A SUBJECT it WILL be delivered.

How do i set it up so that every mailbox on the exchange server can send mails with the subject blank?

thanks

Hi,

I'm having problems with the fonts on my PC. Not just in outlook but it is most noticeable here. The dialog that pops up when you close the email is corrupted too, but this is only in outlook!?!

I am getting the fonts showing large and horribly bold as shown in the screen-shots. I have repaired office 2003 and restored the PC, but this has not solved the problem.

Any suggestions appreciated...

Stu

Addition: I forgot to say that I am using the default windows XP skin - so changes are not caused by that!

I hope to collect all my friends emails from different address, direct send to one yahoo email address, other texts copy to an draft, then send to a Yahoo email address from a frequently use email address.

I should add some contact to this Yahoo address book by copy?

What words should I include in email subject and content?

Then I can search any contact in this Yahoo email inbox.

And Yahoo can cooperate with Open Office?

Linux, Open Office, Free Yahoo Email Address. These are best applications?

Code: [Select]Sub HelloWorldMessage()
    Dim msg As Outlook.MailItem
    Set msg = Application.CreateItem(olMailItem)
    msg.Subject = "Hello World!"
    msg.Display
    Set msg = Nothing
End SubSo far the best example online I have been able to find is the above one. What I want though is on the currently open email message add [Secure] into the subject. This would be email replies or forwards more then anything ... the above is only for new emails. I have searched for the right VBA trigger but am not finding anything.
