Access 97 Runtime error 3041

Question: Access 97 Runtime error 3041

I have several remote locations that collect data in an .mdb format. These are ziped to diskettes daily and unzipped to a master computer in the main office for processing.

The main pc is(was) running Access 97, and the remote locations are running a custom application that was built by some 3rd party.

This was all working just fine, untill I switched out master pc's with one that had Access 2000 on it. I tried to run it on the 200, but did not have any luck, so I installed 97 in addition to the 2000. I got the error message. I uninstalled both versions of access(leaving the remainder of the office2000 install in place. I then re-installed access97 only and am getting the same message.

The error message is Runtime error 3041. Can't open a database created with a previous version of your application.

the debug shows this line as the problem.

"DoCmd.TransferDatabase acLink, "Microsoft Access", "c:\tickets\Tickets.mdb", acTable, "TicketNo", "scalehouse", False"

Can anybody help me, or recomend another forum where I might get some help. This is a very important part of our operation.

Thanks

Preferred Solution: Access 97 Runtime error 3041

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi all,

Let me start by offering apologies if this is in the wrong forum; I wasn't quite sure where else to start.

I've got a case where some users of a program written in VB (6, I believe) that makes use of an access database, are encountering the error from the subject line: "Error 3041 Can't open library from earlier version"

This is happening primarily on Windows 8, although we've recently seen a few cases with members using Windows 7 as well.

It happens when trying to open the program, and after clicking OK, the error box disappears, and the program does not start.

We have found that re-installing the program seems to make the error go away, but only for one or two uses, after which it suddenly appears again.
similarly we've tried re-registering a handful of .DLL files:
regsvr32.exe MSRD2X35.DLL
regsvr32.exe MSRD2X40.DLL
regsvr32.exe MSRD3X40.DLL
Doing so seems to have the same effect; the program will operate, but only temporarily.

We're at a bit of a loss here; none of the folks in the office have been able to reproduce the error, and the only thing that the handful of members running into the error seem to have in common is that they have MS Office installed. Even there, the particular version of Office doesn't seem to have an effect.

If anyone has clarifying questions, or suggestions of steps to try/check, I would be very happy to answer whatever I can.

Try putting the VB code in the "Roaming" folder which is in C:\Users\<User>\AppData\Roaming you will have to unhide folders and files to see the roaming folder.

I have an access 2003 database that calls a VB6 module. The module starts and then I get a run-time error 75 path/file access error. I can execute the vb module outside of access but I have to run as administrator for it to work correctly. What can I fix so that the call from access will execute? I believe the issue is with comctl32.ocx and the status bar control inside the vb module.

Answer:Access XP Runtime Error Help

Sounds like you might have a missing Active X control. Open the DB, then open the VBE (Alt+F11). Go to Tools-References. Are there any references in there that say they're missing? If so, you should still be able to see the file name that it's looking for, and find it somewhere on the web.

Hello and welcome MBMB mate try a sfc and chkdsk first see if the system is up to scratch and then if that comes back ok well I suppose you could scan the software disk for malware or just get back to the manufacturers re the problem it may be incompatible with Windows??

Get the Malwarebytes and when up and running set it to scan the D: drive with that disk in.

SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker

Disk Check

Malwarebytes : Malwarebytes Anti-Malware removes malware including viruses, spyware, worms and trojans, plus it protects your computer < watch out for the trial tick box untick it or it will annoy the heck out of you.

I am pulling my hair out trying to figure this one out.

I'm using VBA in IBM Reflections to call an Access database and run a query. I am gettting a type mismatch error on the last line of the code below. This code works fine on about 6 other machines but keeps giving the mismatch error on one specific pc that is running the exact same version of Access and has the exact same references set. Can anyone shed some light on what might be causing this? Each machine has reference to Microsoft DAO 3.6 and none have any reference to ADO.
Code:

Dim db As DAO.Database
Dim rs As DAO.Recordset
Dim qd As DAO.QueryDef
Set objaccess = CreateObject("Access.Application")
objaccess.OpenCurrentDatabase filepath:=dbname ' dbname is a variable value.
Set dbs = objaccess.CurrentDb
Set qd = dbs.QueryDefs!full_range_by_key 'This line gives the error

Quite unexpectedly, I developed this problem.

I have a module in Access automatically formats and sends an email. It has been working just fine. Now I get this error message and I have no idea why.

I am on a new computer, Vista, Office 2007. Have had it for a month. The emailing has worked fine, until today. From what I have read, it can be a result of something not being registered properly, but if it was running earlier, it should still be running now I would think.

Any ideas?

"HAVING tblYearlyProductions.ProductionIDNo= " & [Forms]![frmHouseBookingStatus]![ProductionIDNo] & " AND tblTcktOrders.OrderType='1'")

I get runtime error 3219 -- Invalid Operation.

Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong?

Answer:Access--query in vba, runtime error 3219

Well, first, you are combining VBA (to start) with SQL, which is an easy thing to mess up.
I am no coder, but you might try inserting something like this:
Dim strSQL As String
strSQL = "... THE SQL STATEMENT GOES HERE ...”
DoCmd.RunSQL strSQL

I have run this code before successfully on my database numerous times and today it decided it didn't want to so it any more and i can't find a solution. It runs the code fine and saves the report as C:\CATTLE_PAYMENT_EMAIL\CATTLE_PAYMENT.PDF absolutely fine.
However it errors on the final line of code "Name File As NewFileName" with Run-time error '5': Invalid procedure call or argument.

I have tried all of the following: Renaming the variables, compacting and repairing the database, running the code on another computer, cross-referencing other access programs that run the same code to make sure they contain the same references, checking all the code on the same database to make sure the variables are not declared twice, checked the form for anything named the same as the variables.

I have 6 references:
1. Visual Basic For Applications
2. Microsoft Access 14.0 Object Library
3. OLE Automation
4. Microsoft Activex Data Objects 2.1 Library
5. Microsoft DAO 3.6 Object Library
6. Microsoft Outlook 14.0 Object Library

Here is the code:

Why not just save it as "C:\CATTLE_PAYMENT_EMAIL\" & [FileName] & ".PDF" in the first place?

I'm working on a search form in Access 2010 that when the reset button is clicked, all of the controls in the form's header is cleared of info (All combo boxes, text boxes are cleared). I've used this code on 3 other search forms with no problem, but when I try it on this one, a dialog box pops up that reads, "Run-time error '2448': You cannot assign a value to this object" When I hit the debug button it highlights the line of code that just clears the controls for combos and texts. I cannot for the life of me figure out what is wrong with it. Like i said, I have the exact same code being used in other search forms, with no problems.
Code:
Dim ctl As Control

'Clear all the controls in the Form Header section.
For Each ctl In Me.Section(acHeader).Controls
Select Case ctl.ControlType
Case acTextBox, acComboBox
ctl.Value = Null '<--- This is the line that get highlighted when i press the debug button on the error message
'Case acCheckBox
' ctl.Value = False
End Select
Next

I encounter the following error when running an Access 2003 MDE application.

"Function is not avaiable in expressions in query expressions".

The VBA functions this error refers to are "InStr" and "Format" which have been used within 2 queries.

The application works fine on the developement PC which has a full version of Access 2003 installed.

The PC in question runs Windows XP, Office 2003 Standard and Access 2003 runtime. I've also installed MDAC 2.8 which is the version the original MDB uses.

Seeing that the PC has only the runtime Access installed, I'm unable to check if there are any references missing.

Even running the following code from within a command button to see which references are missing produces an error.

Dim ref As Reference
Dim strOut As String

For Each ref In Access.References
strOut = strOut & vbCrLf & ref.Name & IIf (ref.IsBroken, " Missing", "OK ") & vbCrLf & ref.FullPath & vbCrLf
Next ref

MsgBox strOut

I get the following error when trying to run this:

"The expression On Click you entered as the event property setting produced the following error: There was a problem referencing a property or method of the object."

Has anyone encountered a similar problem or have any ideas?

Thanks in advance for your assistance.

Steve

Answer:Access 2003 Runtime Error - Function not available in expressions

The reference libraries are more currnet on the development PC than the production PC. I had the very same problem this week and it is pretty easy to fix. Open your DB on the production PC giving you the error, go to the modules section and go to New module. At the top of the VB window go to Tools > Reference. THere should be a listing that states "not installed" or something to that effect. Unchck the entry and clost the VB editor and open the db again.

This is the second time in a couple years, that I have had problems updating my program Incredimail. I LIKE Incredimail, I've used it for many years.
The last time that I got these error messages, I finally set up a new user, and gave it full administrative privileges. When I needed to update IM I would go into this user, and update the program in there and it updated for my user also. NOW I'm getting the same message in both accounts? I am the only one that uses this computer, so it makes no sense to me, to keep setting up user accounts. I realize Win7 doesn't like this program...I worked with the IM tech. support last time before doing another user account, and they insisted that it was my problem, not an Incredimail problem...I hate to say it, but I guess this is true, as I have had this same problem updating another program.
I have two attachments if I am ever allowed to attach a jpg.

According to the error message the application (the patch you installed) isn't working right and for you to contact the folks who made the patch. I'm guessing that would be the support team for Audition Dance Battle or perhaps the support folks for all of e-games.com.ph

::E-Games - Audition Dance Battle::

Let them know exactly what the error message says, the specific ID number for the patch you installed, specific info about your computer (make, model, version of Windows you're using, amount of RAM, CPU, etc) so they can figure out what's wrong. In the meantime, you could try uninstalling the patch while waiting for a response. Sorry I can't be more help.

I'm building a project database, which lists all the projects being managed by a company

database can be downloaded here:
http://www.seacology.org/Seacology Projects (debug).zip

The function I'm working on is in the frm_find_specific_projects form. It's the onClick event of the filter button (cmdFilter), on the right side of the form.

I've cut out 90% of the code for this button. In the full version, there's a section of code detecting if each control on the search form is complete, but in this version I'm just checking the combo box that allows the user to specify what Status the displayed projects should contain (the second control on the page, after the Quick Search box).

The idea here is to get the syntax down and the filter working so I can use a similar format for the other controls.

Right now, I'm hitting a Runtime Error 5, which you'll see if you try hitting the Filter button on the form.

The eventual goal is to make it so the user can choose multiple criteria with which to filter down the project listing in the subform, at the bottom of the search form. It does this by checking to see if a control has a value, and if it does, it adds the relevant table/query, column, and condition to the three strings that hold the relevant parts of the SQL query: strSQLSELECT, strSQLFROM, and strSQLWHERE. Then at the end it cleans up the strings and merges merges them into a single SQL statement and uses that statement to filter the s... Read more

Greetings,
Due to an error with Windows Update ["WindowsUpdate_8024001F" "WindowsUpdate_dt000" which 'magically' fixed itself after a number of rebooting because of the the runtime error mentioning here] I performed a clean boot following the steps
mentioned here: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/929135/how-to-perform-a-clean-boot-in-windows
Normally, upon restarting, I am brought to the login screen with my user icon, and after entering my password I am able to log on.
Upon restarting after configuring msconfig.exe for a clean boot, I am stopped at the login screen. My user icon and the password field does not load, and after about 30~50 seconds, the Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library Runtime Error window pops
up. If I press OK, the error window disappears but the user icon and password field does not appear. Wait another 30~50 seconds, the Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library Runtime Error window appears again. This seem to repeat endlessly.
EDIT: I have never had runtime error before, and the error isn't popping up again, unless i configure for clean boot.

I was able to log back in by reverting the changes in msconfig.exe during Safe Mode, and so that is not my question.

I want to ask, what are some possible reasons for this error window?

There is very little to clean up in your log, but we will get to that.

The first thing I'd like you to try is disabling the Google Toolbar.
That might stop the error for you.

Let me know how that goes.

Hello Tech Guys! I came this site because I was so skillfully helped about four years ago dealing with another windows issue. The site looks great.

I am not computer illiterate, but advanced I am not either. I installed Microsoft Office 2007and Microsoft Desktop Search yesterday. I didn't like Desktop Search and uninstalled it. I also changed some start up configurations with msconfig. This morning when restarting my computer an error message came up:

___________________________________________________________________

Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library

Runtime Error
Program c:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\ccSvcHst.exe

R6025

Pure Virtual Function Call

___________________________________________________________________
I have ran norton and it works fine. Once I click OK on the error and the Norton box on the toolbar disappears. Then I click on the icon and it comes back up. I don't know if this is a problem or not.

I have run a full scan, windoc, and a couple other programs to rid the registry files. I ran RegCure and ParetoLogic. Maybe I am making a mountain out of a molehill, but it does run a little slower at start up and always gives that error message.

Also when I look at Windows Task Manager, the svchost.exe (system) sometimes is running at 58,000K to 27,000K. Is that right?

Let me know what you think and what I should do. I want to thank you in advance for just being such a great tool in our internet world. Taylor

I've done my search on the boards and found advice on both the 'software' board and the 'spyware' board.

Looking for advice on whether I should assume problem is caused by malware - if so I'll go through the steps as posted in the spyware sticky. If not, then I'll go through the steps posted by 'kadavill' on the 'software board' (to go through add-ons and disable)

My specifics:

Running Windows XP SP2 (let me know if you need more system info)

Error message:

Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library

Runtime Error!

Program: C:\WINDOWS\Explorer.EXE

This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way.
Please contact the application?s support team for more information.
(other 'users' on this desktop can launch IE, just not mine)

Thanks for your help,

Answer:Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library - Runtime Error for IExplorer

If you think the problem could be malware related, follow the steps below and we will find out.

- Run ALL the steps in this Sticky thread READ ME FIRST BEFORE ASKING FOR SUPPORT: Basic Spyware, Trojan And Virus Removal

Make sure you check version numbers and get all updates.

- Very Important: Make sure you tell us the results from running the tutorial...was anything found? Were you unable to complete any of the scans?...Were you unable to download any of the tools?...Did you do the on-line scans as suggested? etc.
After doing ALL of the above you still have a problem make sure you have booted to normal mode and run the steps below:

- Download HijackThis 1.99.1

- Unzip the hijackthis.exe file to a folder you create named C:\Program Files\HJT

- Do NOT run Hijack This from the Desktop, a temp folder, or a sub-folder of C:\Documents and Settings, or choose to run it directly from the downloaded ZIP file.

- Before running HijackThis: You must close each of the following:your web browser, e-mail client, instant messenger, and programs like notepad, wordpad, MS Word etc. And any other unnecessary running programs.

- Run HijackThis and save your log file.

- Post your log as an ATTACHMENT to your next message. (Do NOT copy/paste the log into your post).

Every time I switch from windows 7 to windows 8. W8 boots up and I have this error when I log in.

My graphics card is an Amd HD4330. I use the drivers that W8 installed.
I completely unistalled CCC since I thought this is what was causing the error. However I still have CCC installed in W7.
I would really appreciate if you could help me solve this problem as it is very annoying. I get that error every time I log in.

A full spyware/virus check is in order. Might want to try repairing IE too.

Also, this is a perfect opportunity to get yourself a real browser. Download Opera of Firefox on a CD or a flash disk and install on your computer to get a functional browser.

I'm not very computer smart and I don't understand why this has suddenly happened and what I can do to fix it.

I would appreciate any help.

Welcome to Seven Forums MissTottenham. Can you post the complete, exact error code? The generic "this application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way" is unfortunately very common. If you can post a screenshot of the error, even better.

Hello everyone

I keep getting this error message, when I try to download Adobe Reader 8 from Adobe's website. The message reads as follows : Microsoft Visual C ++ Runtime Library Runtime Error! Program: C:\Program Files\Interent Explorer\iexplore.exe This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way. Please contact the application's support team for more information.

I do not know what this is or what is causing it. But right before this message appears, I get a message asking about a proxy? I have no Idea what a proxy is. So I click no for the proxy. and that is when the error message occurs. As far as I know of I do not need a proxy to download any programs. Could this be causing the error message?

Hi, I've searched endlessly on the forums here, microsoft support, and any other technical support forum Google could direct me to and still have not found a solution. I'm not much of a computer guru, but hopefully i can explain my problem enough for you to help me. If i need to show any logs then please tell me how to and i'd be more than happy to help you help me.
On to my problem.

While playing 1701 A.D. (it happens most often with this game, but with other games also) after anywhere from half hour to an hour my game locks up (i can still use the mouse and easily ctrl-alt-kill the program) and this message is displayed:
I have vista on an Hp laptop DV9000 series laptop, my computer is more than strong enough to handle this game. There is also no chance it's over heating. Ive tried right clicking on the exe file and changing compatibility, it didn't make a difference. i downloaded new drivers but that might not have worked properly, i have to install them from hp and it never installs right. The problem existed before i tried to download a new driver and still exist. I also scanned my computer with Trend micro Anti Virus and spyware and have found no possible causes. If there is anything you need me to do please let me know. I appreciate your help.

This is an error in Internet Explorer. Have you installed any plugins or anything new tith Inetrnet Explorer? Itr seems it may be currupt somehow. You should try searching on your XP cd to find Iexplorer.exe and replacing the defective Iexplorer. It's located in C:\WINDOWS\Program Files\Internet Explorer. This should fix it.

Answer:Need fix for Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library Runtime Error

Hi,

Mostly, this kinds of error can be caused by two factors:

1.Runtime components of Visual C++ Libraries are missing.
2.Software problem.

If the issue is caused by #1, you can reinstall the Runtime components of Visual C++ Libraries to resolve the problem.

Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable Package (x86)
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=9B2DA534-3E03-4391-8A4D-074B9F2BC1BF&displaylang=en

If the issue still persists after installing above package, the issue should be a software problem. I suggest you take a clean boot check whether it is a software conflict issue. If not, it is still recommended to address the problem with manufacturer support. Thank you for your understanding.

For your convenience:

Clean Boot
=============================
1. Click Start, type "MSCONFIG" (without the quotations) in the Search Bar and Press "Enter" to start the System Configuration Utility.
2. Click the "Services" tab, check the "Hide All Microsoft Services" box and click "Disable All" (if it is not gray).
3. Click the "Startup" tab, click "Disable All" and click "OK".
4. Restart the computer and test the issue.

Note: Clean Boot is a troubleshooting step. If some programs have been disabled, we can re-enable them later. If you see the System Configuration Utility, check the box of "Don't show this message" and then cl... Read more

Hello dottie5917

I apologise about the wait

Ok now i have seen this issue a couple of times,

1. Update your drivers
2. Uninstall Eset Smart Security Suite
3. Reboot and then download and run Auto Runs

4. Select the Boot Execute tab and check that there is no phantom start-up process
5. If there is a phantom program or something that relates to the error message then end the process.
6. reboot and if the error is gone reinstall Eset Smart Security Suite

Error reads as follows...

"Program: C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe

This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way.
Please contact the application's support team for more information."

This happens when I try to run internet explorer. Firefox works fine. This error started after I installed limewire. Bad, Bad boy. It's now unistalled forever. I believe everything is now cleaned up I use Norton AV & PCTools spyware doctor, however I can't get around this error message. Seems like a C++ bug/virus is trying to or has attached itself to iexplore.exe.

Any help on this? Please?!!

Hey World!I have a Windows Vista Home Premium. With all the updates etc. When i switch on my computer, it loads up, then on the loading screen with the little wheel that goes round and round, it kinda stays there fro unusually long. Then an Error Message comes up that reads:"Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library Runtime Error! This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way. Please contact the application's support team for more information."Then the whole thing freezes and does nothing and i end up having to pull the plug. Now, iv tried a couple of things:Iv loaded it up on Safe Mode and everything is fine. However, SOMETIMES, when i restart it works in normal mode, but not all the time, and it is usually a one off, then it goes back to being broke.I have used CCleaner to find and fix all registry problems, but that doesnt cure it.I have gone back to a restore point, and it works until i restart it.The internet doesnt really offer any help: it just uses it as an opputunity to advertise products which are as good as CCleaner. What i would like to know, is wat program is causing this problem, and how i should fix it.Cos i hardly think turning off all the startup objects while in Safe Mode is a good solution, while it stops the problem from happening, it also stops things from loading that i want to load.Any Help most grateful.ThanksThe Doctor

First post. At start-upwindow pops up runtime link not found. Above in blue part of window it says runtime error-348. There is a picture in the taskbar of what I am pretty sure is the windows movie maker icon where it says runtime error-348. Hope you can help. Thanks.

Answer:runtime error 348 -runtime link not found

Looks like it might be a Spyware Trojan (Troj/Loony-J).

I would start by going thru the steps outlined here, http://forums.majorgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=35407

That should get rid of it. If not, ask for help in that (Spyware)Forum.

Hope this helps.

Hi there,

Got a problem which has developed over past few days. Tried to use HP image zone which came with HP 2350 series printer/scanner. Hadn't used it in a long time and when I tried to access it received 0xc0000135 error. Got in touch with HP. They advised uninstalling the software, downloading .net framework 1.1 and reinstalling. Even though I have .net 1.1, they said reinstall it. I have uninstalled the printer and tried to download .net framework 1.1 from Microsoft downloads site. When I try to install it I am getting the following message :

Visual C++ runtime library

Runtime error

Program C:\WINDOWS\System32\msiexec.exe

The application has requested the runtime to terminate in an unusual way.

I thought it might be a windows installer problem so I downloaded Windows installer 3.1 with no problem.

Done all the usual scans for viruses, malware, spyware and found nothing.

Can anyone help ?

Cheers,

Aidanski

Answer:Runtime Error Visual C++ Runtime Library

I am getting the same error message, often. I just saw on Microsoft that there is an update to the Windows Installer program. If the version number is 3.1.4000.2435, the computer has Windows Installer 3.1 (v2) which is the most current. So you might have to update, see link http://support.microsoft.com/kb/898628/Windows InstallerI already have 3.1(v2) loaded, but I am getting Runtime Errors regularly from Norton System Works/anti-virus. I am running XP/home, also using Webroot Spy/Virus and System Mechanic Pro 6. I update and scan regularly, but get no findings, even using the Trend freebie. Do I sound paranoid? But my Event Viewer showed lots of errors today (only because I just found it). source nview_infoerror event id: 1 and MSI Installer (source) event id 11316 User: ROMEMAIN\Owner. I also got warnings on warnings on Source EvntAgnt EventID 1015 Warning TraceLevel parameter not located in registry; Default trace level used is 32. Do I have problems? I think sooooo. Also Perf... rears its ugly head regularly. From my readings, the community has decided to ignore those PerfLib_PerfData files. But I got the message, again from Event Viewer, PerfNet Error Event 2002 and 2004Unable to open the Redirector service. Redirector performance data will not be returned. Error code returned is in data DWORD 0.I know I'm only supposed to put one problem in one report; but I am so confused! Answer:Runtime Error Visual C++ Runtime Library

You could try doing a System Restore to a date prior to the Adobe install -- this might be a quick fix if something didn't get installed correctly.

http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/using-windows-vista-system-restore/

---------------------------------------------------------------

It's likely to be an application error or conflict. Back in Win98 days installed games like Solitaire frequently had conflicts with installed antivirus programs or certain other apps.

Try testing this issue using "clean boot" techniques -- it seems like a good candidate for that if it happens predictably.

You might want to even start in Safe Mode first and see if it happens there -- if not, you've ruled out a problem with system files, including the game itself.
First, restart in Safe Mode if necessary -- (tap the f8 key promptly on startup and choose the Safe Mode option from the boot menu) or Normal mode

Then:

Run msconfig and select the "Services" tab. Check "Hide Microsoft Services" and then disable the rest. Also uncheck "load startup items" on the general page.
Now restart and test the issue at hand

If no problems, run msconfig and recheck half the disabled items on the Services tab. Test again. If the problem recurs, UNcheck half the items you just checked to narrow down the culprit.

If the problem didn't occur, check the other half, so all the Services are enabled -- proceed to do this on the startup tab as w... Read more

Hey my name is Alex,

So i'm having a problem with a Windows Xp Pro Machine that has office 2003 pro with access. A employee uses it to run querys and database but also uses it to run other programs. It started running slowly after awhile and so I figured out the 2010 Runtime Access would make it run faster. So it did but, the two conflict with each other. Is there a way to cause this not to do that?

Answer:Access 2003 and Runtime Access 2010

this might shed some light on it, there's a few suggestions for compatibility solutions.

I have two user accounts on my Windows Vista home basic. I installed Malwarebytes Anti-Malware early this afternoon. Works fine on my account, but the other account after trying to open it I get runtime error 0 and runtime error 440 automation. Any suggestions? Should I uninstall and reinstall or bad idea? I did detect infected files when I ran it earlier.

Answer:runtime error 0/runtime error 440 automation

Just uninstall it and reinstall. If you're worried about infected files, try running another malware program first and see what it says. A Squared Free is another good one or Spybot. Do you have an Antivirus program installed as well? If so, run that and see if you can detect anything.

I had a very bizarre problem today. I downloaded about 50 .mpg files and put them into a folder on my desktop. I opened one of them, and it worked fine, but after that every time I even opened the folder that the files were in, only half of the thumbnails would appear and then it would tell me that I had a Visual C++ Runtime Error, from explorer.exe aborting. At the same time as this, windows would pop up a little message saying that my virtual memory was low. Later, it popped up a message saying that my Media Player needed to be reinstalled and that my Norton Antivirus needed to be reinstalled. Then it disabled my Norton Firewall and my Norton Antivirus. Lastly, I started getting error messages telling me that my soundcard needed to be configured to handle voice files, by enabling hardware acceleration. The only problem with that was that Windows would not let me access the advanced sound settings!

I am running Windows XP (all patches up to date), 256 MB Ram, 75 Gig HD - so I figured the "low" virtual memory had to be an error. I tried tripling the virual memory to 1GB and also tried letting Windows automatically set the virtual memory size, but neither of these fixed the problem. My immediate thought was that it was a virus or trojan, but Norton VirusScan, Swat-It Trojan Scanner, and System Suite VirusScan all failed to detect anything, and all of them have their definitions up to date.

I ran a Google search to see what other things I should try and none of the... Read more

We had windows xp machines with running older ver. of office. We have since upgraded our pc to windows 7 and have the limited ver. of office. Word, excel, etc.

When we did the changeover we removed the old hard drives and put them in the new pc's as seconds drive and left all the data intact.

One program we have was written to keep track of inventory and other items. This program has some files extensions with mdb on the end.

We cannot locate the software install disks that came with the program.

When I try to run the program I get and error that says Microsoft 2002 runtime access is required. I downloaded that file and when I tried to instal it I get and error.

I would assume with is due to not having MS Access installed on the machine?

Is it possible to find an old copy of access and install it to get this program to run or would this screw up the current install of word and excel because they are newer?

Any help would be appreciated.

Answer:access runtime help.

I'm guessing your PC need some things for the 2002 run time to install. You didn't report the error message so I would be guessing at a resolution to the install.

Regardless I don't think the 2002 (office XP) runtime will be a long term solution. I haven't had much luck using any access 'run time' they are more for an installation package that allows people without access to run a .mde (executable) file.

Your best bet is to get a any version of Access and see if it will run the mdb. Its very likely (I give 80% chance) that Access 2010 will run the file. I would immeadiatly convert it to 2010 (.accdb file type) and see if it still works.

Another option would be to take the mbd files to a compter that has access, get it converted, then you might could make an executable that might run with the 'runtime app'. that would save you from having to purchase additonal Access. The success of the runtime idea will depend on the complexity of the database. If it has vba code or uses old functions it likly won't work in the 'runtime app.'

What ever version of Access you install (as long as you install access only if you find an 'office package') will not mess up you current word/excel.

I'm trying to minimise OLE bloat...

Is it possible to create an unbound OLE frame that has a "Null" SourceDoc value? Can I set its OLE SourceDoc value at run-time if I set it's Class and TypeAllowed at design time?

I've tried to do it but with no success. For example:
Code:
With Reports![Quotation]![_3].Report![OLE]
.OLETypeAllowed = acOLELinked
.Class = "Word.Document.8"
.SourceDoc = "C:\Documents and Settings\Chris\My Documents\Architecture.doc"
.Action = acOLECreateLink
End With

This throws up an error 2801 - "The OLE Object isn't loaded because the unbound ActiveX control hasn't been initialized" and then opens the report but the OLE object does not show the content of the "Architecture.doc" document I have chosen, it shows the content of the OLE object that I created at design time which was an empty Word Document.

The .ACTION Line is messing up bigtime.

All I need to do is to change SourceDoc value - why is it so difficult?

Grrr...

Hope someone can help on this one?

Cheers

I have 2 networked PC's, one with XP Pro and the other with 98SE. I am the only user. I have Office 2003 Pro on my main PC and have set up a magazine database with Access 2003. I would like to be able to see and search this database on my other PC, which does not have Access installed. I don't want to buy a new developers version of Access (at high cost). I understand that the Access runtime files are included in standard Office 2003 Pro; since I won't be distributing the files to anyone else, is there any way to add these to my database file? Alternatively, I found ART2KMIN.exe on Microsoft's site but I can't seem to get it to work (maybe needs a switch parameter).

I have been able to query out all payments made on a bond during the given month but to isolate only the first payment on each bond is tricky.

Hi,

I have a database in access 2003 i need to put it on a machine that does not have a copy of Access, but i do have access runtime. Could i install Access runtime on that machine and be able to open the database?

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Answer:Solved: Microsoft Access Runtime

Yes. The Access runtime is design to allow users that have not purchased Access to still "run" a database. They just con not make any design changes or go tot he database windows.

I normally deploy all my Access apps to run with the Access runtime or with Full Access in Runtime mode.

Is your database split into a front end and back end? I highly recommend this. This is the only way I would deploy a database.

Have you tested your database in runtime mode?

NOTE: Some things are not available by default when in runtime mode. I would urge you to fully test your database with Access in runtime mode.

I am in the process of upgrading from Office 97 to Office 2003.

I occasionally write Microsoft Access Database applications and have the capability with Access 97 to provide a runtime version of Access with my applications (using Office 97 Developer Edition Tools). I understand that with Access 2003, I need to have Access 2003 Developer Extensions, which appear to be available only as part of Visual Studio Tools for the Microsoft Office System. This seems to be quite an expensive piece of software which is hard to justify for the few database applications I write. Am I overlooking a way to economically get what I need to have the license to distribute Access Runtime and a setup wizard to install applications that I write that need runtime?

I need to CREATE an external database MDB file using a MACRO in a RUNTIME environment and then EXPORT a table to the external database file.

I have Access 2k users of the software will be using Access Runtime 2000 SR-1.

For Example: From 'Original.MDB' I want to use a macro to CREATE 'New.MDB' and the EXPORT "Table1" from 'Original.MDB' to 'New.MDB' as "Table1". ('New.MDB' may or may not already exist.)

If this is not possible, can you WALK me through this procedure using VBA code. PLEASE spell it all out to me.. I'm relatively new at using VBA code.

This is very important, thanks for your assistance.

Answer:CREATE & Export to a NEW MDB from Access Runtime

Hi, welcome to TSG. Not to get things off on the wrong foot, but what you're talking about can't really be done with a macro (well, the exporting of a table can be--the creation of an mdb file, to my knowledge, cannot), and quite frankly, it's too sophisticated to do with code for someone who doesn't know anything about VBA. It's an advanced programmer's routine--not something to do when you don't know that much about code. The fact that it's "important" should only reinforce the need for it to be done by someone who can easily read, write, and debug code.

I answer a lot of Access stuff around here; I'm not opposed to the long and involved answer if the problem demands. But in this case, I would recommend you check out a good book on Access--Access Developer's Handbook from Sybex being my favorite--and teach yourself some stuff about VBA, have a go at the code yourself, and come back to us when you have a problem.

But perhaps one of the other Access peeps around here will feel differently.

The subject message pops up any time I attempt to open my IE8 browser using Windows XP and set to my home page "ATT.Yahoo". When I click "OK" in the message, IE closes and tries to recover, but with the same results each time. I know
there is a method to reset IE9, but can't tell if it also pertains to IE8 since it can't be opened.
