I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi,

I've been trying to find a shortcut for this, surely one exists...

I have 2 excel files. The first is a company stock listing, listing in Col A the stock code, Col B the quantity on hand. In the 2nd file, I have a column listing the same code, and another column listing a unit price. My goal is to create a sheet that lists both cost and quantity, but there are items in one that aren't in the other, and vice versa, so I can't just do a sort and copy/paste accross from one to the other. My boss wants me to do it manually, but there are about 3000 line items!

If someone could suggest a shortcut here I would be extremely grateful! If more information is needed, let me know.

Thanks in advance!

I've attached an example of the spreadsheets. They will be formatted the same way (same headings) and will be stored in the same directory. The headings are show in blue, I'm creating a drop down menu of the items in green, and the orange represent misc info. What I need is to develop is a master document (seperate spreadsheet) that will allow people to select from a drop-down menu (choosing by heading) and retreive all info that matches their selection, kind of like an auto-filter except it will pull data from multiple spreadsheets.

Example: In the master file there will be a drop down for type (C1) and it will list all the available types in this category (Plastic, Paint, Glass, etc...). If the user selects Glass the the master will search each spreadsheet and display each row of data that has Glass in column C.

Now it gets more tricky because each spreadsheet represents a project I'm tracking so they will be constantly updated with additional information (rows of data). Thus coding can't be range based unless it references something large scale like C2:C2000, I would prefer if it'd scan the entire column C instead. Also more spreadsheets are likely to be developed in the future. This is why I have them all stored in the same location and would prefer if the master would scan everything in that directory to generate its queries.

I'm horrible at explaining stuff so please ask if anything need clarifying.

Answer:Need help extracting information from multiple spreadsheets in a master file

Hi there,

Why would you not use a database here (i.e. Access)? It seems a perfect fit. Plus you can have your multiple users, but they would be accessing the same data [tables], thus keeping data integrity and stopping redundancy. Having the data in one location would save a lot of time and resources I think. Are you open to a database? If not, how about having the users access a single Excel file?

So I am sitting here on my MacBook Pro which in my opinion does not have any wireless issues whatsoever, it works. I still own this ThinkPad with a garbage wireless card, and I feasted my eyes on an Intel 7260 but lo and behold, it isn't on the whitelist! Scouring eBay and Amazon I did find a FRU, but would the number of that FRU be the same on the Hardware list? Lets see, well I cannot even find it. All I get are Page Not Found errors which to me is a hilarious joke of Lenovo's support. What does this mean for me? Is my X230 at a very very unnecessary end of life? Should I like, fork out £1400 for an "upgraded" model that probably won't fix most of my problems? My problems is money and saving money. Should i now look elsewhere? No, because I'd rather keep my money to actually FIX my current laptop's problems (the N2200 is a garbage card and would like to replace it with something that's up to date to todays technology but that isn't happening by the sounds of it) I am frustrated with my current laptop's problems and it's having a large effect on my studies. And possibly you can also lose customers by inadequate non-existent support and failure to give us the freedom to actually let us upgrade for those who do. For those who don't, more like.

I am still hanging on to my old Publisher 97 and have always been able to hook up to microsoft's online clip gallery for additional clip art that I need for my newsletter that I print. An error message shows that I don't have microsoft office installed, therefore making the clip-art unavailable to me. Any ideas on what has happened? Maybe I just need to give into Microsoft and pay the $99 for the upgrade?

Answer:Microsoft PUBLISHER '97 - I can't download clip-art from Microsoft any more

I suspect you're right. MS probably doesn't support Pub 97 for clipart anymore. If it's any consolation, I love Pub 2000 and find it easier to create my newsletters, brochures, business cards, etc.

HELP!!!!

We recently moved to a new house and my movers have lost some of my office and other boxes I packed. Included in the loss is my installation disc for Microsoft Publisher 2000. I use it all the time and recently purchased a new laptop that I want to put it on and remove it from my desktop but I don't have the installation disc now.
I called Microsoft and they are no help, they want 165$ to replace the program, since I now have to upgrade to the most recent release. I don't want to upgrade, I just want a replacement disc.
Is there any way to move the program from one computer to another? I can't even find it in my windows explorer and Microsoft has advised that it's not possible to even transfer it because the files become part of the registry. This seems wrong to me. I have the licence information in the about section. Any suggestions???
Thanks

Hi,
I've been using Publisher for over 10 years and it is usually very friendly. A few months ago the page tabs at the bottom of the document just disappeared. I then got a new computer and thought when the programme was reinstalled they would reappear. But NO.
I then bought an update (which is harder to use than the old one) but still there were no page tabs.
In my old computer (which is being driven by my husband who doesn't use publisher) they still exist on my old work but when I copy those files the numbers don't appear on my screen.
It is very difficult with the sort of work I handle which is always multi-paged to have to keep going to Edit - Go to page, before I can change. It takes so long because one has no idea of the page number and sometimes I have 35.
The system is Windows XP.
I do hope you can help

I have Microsoft Publisher installed a machine that was gifted to me and have used it regularly. Just this evening, like every other time, I clicked on the taskbar shortcut; however, this time Windows Installer came up telling me it was preparing to install. This also happened when I tried clicking on the icon in the Start Menu.

A Microsoft Office XP Small Business dialog box came up stating:
'The feature you are trying to use is on a CD-ROM or other removable disk that is not available.

Insert the Microsoft Office XP Small Business disk and click OK.

Use source:
Microsoft Office XP Small Business.'

1. I have Microsoft Office XP Standard for Students and Teachers,
2. Publisher is already installed (I have used it in the past),
3. Publisher properties for the shortcut show a target of:
Microsoft Office XP Small Business (greyed out),
4. I found the actual .exe file and was able to bring up Publisher,
5. I was able to create a working shortcut from the actual .exe file and place it in
the Taskbar.

So, my questions:

1. How do I get a working icon in the Start Menu?
2. Why would it stop working to begin with?

Answer:Microsoft Publisher

Not sure what happened to begin with, but you can right click in the start menu, choose new shortcut, and browse to the publish exe.

Hi,

I use Microsoft Publisher (Home Office XP) for creating mailers for a sewing machine dealer, AND to create handouts for my students for computer sewing software and embroidery classes. I have Windows XP.

I have just recently started having a problem in publisher. When I click on the icon to "insert picture" and navigate to the folder where I want to insert my images, the software is slow. THEN after I've opened up the main folder and try to open another folder the software just stays in search mode. The hourglass just keeps spinning. I have to CRTL/ALT/DELETE to get out of it and then a message comes up to send an error message to Microsoft. At first I didn't send it (because I don't know what to do after I've sent it) and then I decided to send it. I got another message saying to update my Office XP files, so I did that.

The problem continues and even though I've sent the message to Microsoft I don't know if I'm supposed to go search for the answer or if they are going to contact me, or what.

Whatever, the problem is still there. This just started happening about a week ago and I thought it might be because my computer is in the hottest room in my house (even with air conditioning) so I decided to just try it in the morning when it is cooler, but that doesn't help either.

I haven't installed any new software prior to this so I really need some help here. I really like Publisher because I have a lot more control and I bring in images all the ti... Read more

Answer:Microsoft Publisher Help, Please

The only thing I can think of is that perhaps the image files have been corrupted. That would explain the hanging hourglass; publisher is looking for the data to transfer to the document, but if the data is damaged it will hang up.

Try this: open your image folder and try to open some of the images. Try one that you do see a thumbnail picture for and try one that you don't see a thumbnail picture for. If you can't open either, the problem may be with a software program. If you can't open the images that don't have pictures in the thumbnails but can open the others, the problem might be image file corruption.

If this is the case, try inserting a picture into publisher that does have a thumbnail picture. If it works, we'll know the problem isn't with publisher and that would be stronger evidence for image file corruption.

Using Microsoft Publisher 98, when I open a text box there is always a character present in the box, it is in the form of a circle with little legs sticking out at 1, 5, 7 and 11 o'clock. Is magnifies according the size of font that I use and defies all my efforts to remove it. This character has only appeared in the last few weeks so I must have done something to generate it but I can find no help in removing. Can anyone help?

I have composed a two page newsletter in publisher and converted it to web page html. It works perfectly except that it does one page per file so I end up with two html files. I need to mail this out to people and want to put it straight into an email (not as an attachment) but I use Maillist Controller and it only lets me put in one file. How can I get publisher to see the two pages as one page when I convert?

Hi all, I'm new to this site and probably rank as experienced novice

I'm on windows XP and using Microsoft Publisher 2007.
I'm creating a document in which I have made about 100 or more small circles with a separate text box next to them with a number in it.
When I print the document, a number of the circles have a large X next to them (below and to the right. About 4 on a clock face).
They are only present near about 30% of the circles and on the screen they are not visible. They only appear when I print!
Can anyone help me to get rid of them please??

Thank you
Mark

Does anyone know where I can get a pubole9.dll??

Regards

Jigajig3

Answer:RE: Microsoft Publisher 2000

[tsg=welcome][/tsg]

You'll be able to get it by running Repair on your installation. That is one of the files that is installed with Publisher.

You'll need your Cd, though.
I have attached the file in this post though. I renamed it to pubole9.txt. When you download it, rename it to pubole9.dll and make sure it goes in your C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office folder.

I can burn music, and copy files to a cd, but when I try to send a file from Microsoft Publisher, the E drive does not show.

I installed the cd/rw recently and have only used it for music.

Is this not being recogonized by the computer?

And if it is not, what should I do so it is?

Answer:Cd--Can't burn from microsoft publisher

If what you mean is you cant right-click and send to the CD heres my answer, if not please ignore

You cant simply save a file to a CD, it has to be burn from software such as Nero. I you want to drag-and-drop files to CD-RW, you need to format the CD specially. With EZ Cd Creator this is done by selecting DirectCD. Now you can right click the file, choose send to DirectCD Drice (Drive E). The same thing can be accomplished by using InCD from Nero.com.

Answer:microsoft publisher, burning cd

The only way you can move a program from one computer to another is by using an install program. If you do not have the install for Publisher, then you can not move it. Also, if your license is for one computer, then it can only be on one computer.

There are dll's that need to be registered into the new computer and the only way is a new install.

My current OS is Windows 98SE. The software problem is with MS Publisher for Win 95 CD Deluxe. I have been using this version of Publisher since I bought this computer (several years ago). Approximately 90 days ago, I tried to open Publisher and I received the following message:

Publisher cannot open one of its program files, "C:\PROGRAM FILES\MICROSOFT PUBLISHER\rulerfnt.fon"

Publisher may not be installed correctly. To reinstall Publisher, run the Setup program again.

I have removed Publisher more than once and re-installed it (several times). Still, when I try to open it I receive the same warning message. Someone sent me the file 'rulerfnt.fon' and I installed it. Still to no avail. I am hooked on Publisher (the version that I have and have many important documents created with it (that I cannot get to now)

Assistance realy needed. I am stumped.

on my laptop i cannot find microsoft publisher and i have all the other microsoft's except this one ... is it under a different name or is it in a different location ?

Answer:I can't find microsoft publisher

If it's something that came with the laptop most of them won't include Publisher, and several of the Office bundles do not include it. In Office 2007, if you have Office Basic, Office Home & Student, or Office Standard, you won't have Publisher. It can be bought as an upgrade for $99 and as a full version for $169.

I am trying to publish a catalogue in Publisher 2007. How do I insert page numbers in my catalogue, beginning on page#3, AS Page #1 and continuing consequetively to the end (Page #58). Why you ask? Because there is a cover, which should not be numbered and the inside cover also not to be numbered. So paging would BEGIN with page #3.Peter

Answer:Microsoft Publisher 2007

I'm not very familiar with Publisher and the version I have is 2003.  But, by default, the number is not printed on the cover page, is it?  And, I just discovered, while looking at one of the catalog templates in Publisher, that the page numbers on pages following the cover are deletable objects.  I can just click on the page number, causing a Text box border/control tool to appear, and then hit Delete.  That removes that object; this can be applied to only the page immediately following the Cover page, and the remaining pages can be left alone.  Does that all seem to apply to Publisher 2007?

I have even tried CCleaner, uninstall programs, thats hasn't worked. Can anyone assist please.

Answer:Microsoft Publisher 2000

Hi Bonneville. Is this the standalone version or the version bundled with Office 2000?I'm not absolutely positive (because I hate it too) but I believe it came both ways.If you've done the Add\Remove thing, you should be able to use the MS windows installer cleanup utility to finish off the leftovers. Be careful with it though. If it's the Office bundled version you may remove something that another office program needs. To fix it, you would need to reinstall that particular part of the office suite again.

OK, am I in the right section here?? Never used this forum before!Basically, I'm using publisher to create some posters, all very simple stuff, but for some reason the autoshapes and pictures that I'm using aren't showing up on the screen anymore. When I go into print preview, all it shows it a plain white page, with the text.Yet when I print out, it's all there. It's very odd, and although it is still possible to carry on as it all prints out, it makes life A LOT more difficult, as I can't really see what's on the page until I've printed it!!!If anyone has any idea why this is happening, and if so, how I can fix it, it'd be much appreciated!!Cheers.I noticed this happens in Word as well now.Moderator Edit: Added quote from other duplicate post that only had the one difference from this one, and deleted that one. ~ Animal

She performed a full system virus scan and it did not find anything.

What would cause this problem? Any idea on how to fix it?

Anyone know if there's a free equivalent for Publisher, as there are for most of Microsoft programmes.

Open Office Draw is said to have a few similarities but is not sufficient for what I want. Specifically, is there a free programme that will actually read Publisher documents?

Scribus is very good, does pretty much everything you can do in Publisher although there is a slight learning curve. Link And as far as I know there is no other software available that will open a Publisher file except Microsoft's own Publisher.
