Final Fantasy 8 (PC) Failed To Load Custom Driver

Question: Final Fantasy 8 (PC) Failed To Load Custom Driver

Hello all.

After getting my FF7 set from a friend a couple weeks ago, nostalgia kicked in and I got his FF8 copy also but I'm having problems with it. I also have no problem playing FF7.

Installing it goes along with no problems till the end, where it says "Failed to load custom driver" and it goes to desktop. I try to start the game and same thing. I got the 1.2 patch but am unable to install EAX because again it says failed to load custom driver. What is going on?

Windows XP Home Edition
Pentium 4 2.2 Gz
256 RAM
Intel 82845G/GL/GE/PE/GV Graphics Controller

Preferred Solution: Final Fantasy 8 (PC) Failed To Load Custom Driver

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I already open ports 25, 80, 110, 443 but I'm not sure if what is the ports to be open in the range of 50000 - 65535.I tried to use application under the advance settings of the router as well as the firewall rule but still, I cannot open the ports. Is there any default port to be open, or any specific port in the range of 50000-65535?

Question: Final Fantasy 7

First of all, I am not a gamer but I am trying to help a friend.

Final Fantasy 7, installed game and associated components (DirectX 5.0, Movie Player, and Yamaha Software Synthesizer). Install went fine, rebooted, and tried to start game but no go. For a split second you can see a small box pop up and go away but that's it. Installed DirectX 7 but didn't help. Documentation with FF7 states that they can't guarantee it will work with Windows 98 because they designed for Windows 95.

Windows 98SE
Celeron 400
64 MB RAM
SB AudioPCI 128D
Tried on my computer also with same results.
Windows 98
Celeron 366
96MB RAM
SB AudioPCI 64V

I realize these are not very good systems and maybe its not even be possible to run the game on either. Hoping maybe someone has some answers.

Not really sure what other information will be pertinent but will be more than willing to answer any questions.

Thanks!!!

Answer:Win XP/ Final Fantasy VII

Hiya

Well, apparently, Gamespot are having problems playing on XP, so you may be out of luck. Lets see though.
Whats your video card?
Go to Control Panel | System. Device Manager, under Display will be the video card.
Also, and I assume this will be high, but what version of DirectX do you have?
Go to Run and type DXDIAG. In the first tab will be the version number.

Sounds like it could be a display issue.
Have you tried changing the graphic settings for the game?
Tried compatibility modes on the game?
Does it crash right away, or after you select "New Game"?

If it after "new game",

Hi there,

I know this may have been posted a while back so I apologise. I have FF7 on the EA Classics series and have been trying for a while to find fixes for running it on Windows XP.

I have tried various things including using a Guide.

I have installed various patches including the 1.02 1.03 and 1.04 versions, have modified the sound and installed the various movie fix patches for it.

Now, on to my problem.

Using the guide I did everything it asked for except the sound packs. The game installs fine and configures well using the 1.02 patch. Now, I insert my Disk 1 and the computer registers it as 'View Movie Files' disk. So I click cancel and the run FFVII.exe. The computer does not even attempt to autoplay anything from the CD drive for the opening movies or anything, So I cannot view the opening movies, just getting a black screen. I can skip the screen so it goes to the New Game/Continue? screen. I can happily go up and down on this screen between the two options but when I click new game I get another black screen, again, my CD drive does not do a thing so I have to alt-tab out and ctrl+alt+del.

The process is responding I just get nothing apart from a black screen. I am going to look into running it on a virtual machine instead to see if that works but I wondered if anyone using Windows XP (SP3) can tell me if they have managed to run their copies of it successfully.

My Specs are as follows:
E5200 @ 2.5Ghz
4GB Kingston Hiper-X RAM @ 800Mhz
512MB XFX HD... Read more

Question: Final Fantasy XI

Just wanted to know if anyone played, and if so
Your opinon on :
Could a whm/sum Blm/sum Brd/Rdm and Another mage combo
go threw the game without the need of a another, using bind and massive blm spells, (summoner is for stats opnly)

Answer:Final Fantasy XI

Telling ya right now it is impossible to go through the game alone; this becomes more clear after level 10-12. After that the amount of XP you need to level is extremely high for you to kill weak enemies; anything thats normal against you will give you about 80xp but will leave you with 10% health...also mages and bards are all low defense classes that require either alot of charm or alot of mana to play and carry negative stats towards their health with items. Getting beyond level 25 requires at least 2 mages per team. Also you cant get a 2nd job untill you ding 19...and you cant get an adv job untill your 30-35; and the amount of money that mage classes consume is just rediculous (blm consuming the most).

It is ussaly the norm if you got BLM / WHM you will pick the opposite one...unless you go taru and get a whm/bard. BLM is a nuker; RDM is a fighter; WHM is a healer and BRD is a stats booster. I personally dont like magic jobs but a BRD beyond level 40 is a Must for any team to succeed!

Bottom line its an MMORPG and not a single player experiance; w/o a large team your doomed.

Depending where you start, you should get an adventurer coupon. You need to give that to one of the guards outside the residential house., then go to your moogle house to change your job (if you want be something else). Then go to an exit, but before you go outside, look for a person next to the exit. In Winhurst, it will be someone with W.W. next to their name. In Bastok, it's I.M. and San dOria its T.K. Get your signet from them (very important - you get crystals for your crafting), then go outside and get some mobs. Again depending on where you are you should be going for specific mobs. Don't forget to heal and when you are getting messages that you found an item from a defeated mob, but not obtained, go to your inventory and sort it. The items are not automatically sorted so if you get an item that is stackable, then you will need to go to your inventory to stack them.

Let me know where you are so I can help you more.

Question: Final fantasy 14

Hi there, I need advice. I have 2 kids and they both have laptops. I bought them the game Final Fantasy 14 ( what a pain). The game installed with no probelm. The problem is running the game. Its so slow and its like playing in slow motion. Meaning that the characters moves so slow, at least 10 secods after the key has been pressed. My opinion is that probably the processor in the laptops might be causing the slow down.

Laptop number one description:
Windows Vista Home Premium 32bits
Hp Pavillion DV6700
Processor: Intel Core (TM) 2 Duo CPU [email protected]
memory: 3gb

Laptop number 2 description:
Windows Vista Home Premium 32Bits
Compaq Pressario CQ60 Notebook
Processor: AMD Athlon Dual Core QL-32 2.00 Ghz
Memory : 2.00GB

I have done all the updates, video card, windows, and directX and the problem persists. Any help or advice will be greatly appreciate it.

Thank you much

Question: Final Fantasy 11

I have recently reinstalled final fantasy 11 online ton the same computer to which it was installed 5 months ago. When I try to connect, I gt the error FFXI-3100 "cannot connect to lobby server". I contacted SE and they told me to contact my ISP (Comcast) and have them unblock the ports. So I called Comcast and they said they are not blocking any ports (which makes sense because I was able to play the game four months ago with same ISP). So i recontacted SE support and they said to try uninstalling the anti virus. I did that and still had no luck connecting. So then I power cycled the Modem and afterwards, I still couldn't connect. I am wondering is anyone has any ideas before I give up altogether. Any help would be awesome. thank you!

I recently got ahold of a friend's PC copy of Final Fantasy VII, and because he wouldn't let me keep the actual discs, he gave me .iso (whatever those are) files of all the discs and installed a Daemon Tools virtual drive (this I know how to use).

The install disc worked just fine, but whenever I try to start the game after mounting the first disc, I get a black screen. If I hit 'Esc' twice I get to the menu asking if I want to start a new game, and I can select the 'New Game' option, but I get another black screen that I can't make go away. Anyone know how to get the game to run?

I'm on a Toshiba (unknown model) working with Windows 7. I already tried running the game in Windows 98/ME Compatability Mode but my computer can't recognize the file this way (it only works under normal Compatability Mode).

Can someone please help me? I love this game!!

Ok when I go to create a new character i get a black screen and the music still plays.I contacted their tech support and they sent me this:
PlayOnline(including all related software such as FINAL FANTASY XI) may use any of the following ports. If you are using a router, please configure it to allow packets to pass through these ports.

Port numbers that may be used by the PlayOnline server group.
TCP 25.80.110.443 or 50000 - 65535
UDP 50000 - 65535
*If your Internet service provider (ISP) specifies a DNS server, you may need to configure your settings to allow packets to pass through UDP Port 53 as well. For more information, please refer to the instruction manual for your router or the information provided by your ISP
Now I'm not using a router, so my question is this how do i configure my network settings to allow the above to work? Thanks in advance

hi

right, been playing this game for a while on a normal adsl connection and it worked fine, pc specs are ok for it (windows xp pro, 512 ddr ram, geforce 4 ti 4600, 2.8 ghz)

recently installed an origo ASR-8400 router and starting having problems. i log onto playonline and final fantasy fine, but after a while i basically lag out, ie. i no longer recieve information from the game or can input info into it. with this error message:

Error code : POL - 0207 connection terminated or not available please try again later or check cables, networking devices and network settings.

it is not a usb router so that is not the problem (i found out these arent supported by playonline)

i dont know what to do i have tried origio's website and final fantasy support but neitheir are specific enough to deal with this problem.

also msn signs out every 5 minutes with the new router, however when i play counter-strike or use internet explorer or download it works just fine

any help would be much appreciated and if network connection info is needed i can give it..

Answer:final fantasy 11 urgent help please

Sounds like the router has some issues.

Have you tried resetting it and re-entering the info?

I would also try DMZ mode and see if it makes any difference at all.

Why can't I register as a uk resident so I can play Final Fantasy XI. I bought the game from HMV and having installed it without a hitch, I was very annoyed to get stumped on the PLAYONLINE registration question about suppling the country of residence when only given the choice of the USA and Canada. I looked for help, a word of support, perhaps a easy e-mail address to gain the answer. Not a thing. What is a multi national games empire doing releasing a game when you can't play the damn thing, worse what fools are loosing them sales as countless customers must be disappointedly returning their game for a refund because there is NO information on this problem.

Short of doing a reinstall of the game, can anyone think of any ways to solve the following issues?

Very slow zoning times. This was not an issue on windows 8 or 7. Loading times have doubled.

Game will not close, it freezes and sits as not responding upon selecting exit game.

Other than these two issues the game is operating well. I get higher FPS on 10. But the loading times make running
things where you have to zone a lot a real hassle. Any suggestions appreciated. Thank you.

Answer:Final Fantasy 7 (SFX problem)

WELL WELL WELL

..after the strange problem about the sound of FF7 that works on configuration tests, but not 'inside' the game, i just discoverd something new :

As i said, the issue is strange, because it indicates 'inside' the game that MUSIC is not SUPPORTED, (but i can well hear it) and SFX is at 100% but I CAN'T hear it..

So I tried in the configuration to put as DRIVER the 'Synthétiseur Software Microsoft' (see config above)

..and this one now WORKS !

..well, not 'exactly : i got now -'inside'- sound ff7 config a MUSIC volume controle which works !! (first good step) but SFX remains still, even with the volume controle bar at 100%.

..FF7, here we come

My dad downloaded a copy of Final fantasy 8 on his windows 7 computer, he transfered it to my windows 7 computer and it worked perfectly fine. I then transfered it to my new windows 8 computer, but it doesn't work. I click on the launcher, it loads up but the whole thing is pretty much just all white with the exception of the buttons.
I click start the launcher goes away for a couple of seconds then goes back to the way it was, just the launcher being white, and it won't load up.

Btw if anyone says that its illegal for me/dad to download it off the internet, i have the actual copy of the game but some discs are lost and scratched up and it stops at a certain point in the beginning of the game.

I'd appreciate any help thanks.

Answer:Can't Run Final Fantasy 8 on windows 8

I have Final Fantasy 8 via steam and it works.

For you, I think it might be you need to install the game on Windows 8 instead of just moving the Folder from a different OS.
Maybe, Windows 8 handles installs different from Windows 7.

By the way it is currently $12 via Steam if you can't figure out why it does not work.
FINAL FANTASY VIII on Steam or wait for one of these Steam sales.

Question: Final Fantasy VIII

Hello... I have loved this game since 1999 when it came out... I loved playing it on the ps1... I loved the debug room too... I have been feeling like I want to play an old game... so I tried something new... I found the game for PC for $15.00... But I don't see anyway to use codes to get into the room... Does anyone know if it is possible to get in the debug room in the pc version? I don't want to go out and buy the ps1 version, just after selling it to a gamestore... LOL... Any help is appreciated...
PS... if you guys have a gamesave for the pc, that would be another alternative... If there is a way...

Answer:Final Fantasy VIII

Just enter final fantasy VIII cheat codes or savegames or whatever into Google.

Personally, I think that destroys the game, but sometimes it stops you putting your fist through the screen.

Thank you.

Rob

I am very sorry to post this... I know its so old the game that it might be hard to know how it would work but i want to ask the help of who ever can.

I have a Final Fantasy 8 original CD case with all 4 discs, the case is from PcGAMES, and when i put the CD inside my laptop the CD opens but the largest file ,401.616KB, is a PAK file wich i canot find anything to open it with. this is refering to CD1.
All CD's have a file called disckX.PAK with around 401.616KB, a file called DiskX and its type is "File" but i have nothing to open it its 2bytes in size, and 3 files called Field and extentions are fi/fs/fl .
CD4 has beside all those writen before, also has the file field2.fs
Note: the files are named in exact same way as they are in CD's and the "X" refers to the CD numbers for isntance disck1 for CD1 / disck2 for CD2 ...

I would like to know if anyone have any idea how it works and how i can put the game working. For the record i do not have my game manual. My operating system is Windows 7 and I have 1.5 GB ram, its a Compaq 615 all stock except ram.
The game requirements are windows 95/98
pentium II 266 MHz
64 MB ram
16MB 3d graphic accelerator
8x CD-ROM
direct x 6.1

I would be glad if someone could help me understand how to put this working. I dont know wat to use to read PAK files either ... 1st time i ever saw them actualy ... Im sry to bodder u.

Answer:Final Fantasy 8 problem

You could barely get it to run on the recommended OS.

I have FF8, and you should have 5 CDs I think, depending. (mine are original from Squaresoft). 4 discs are install discs, the last one is a play disc. On the first disc, there should be a setup.exe file. You would want to run that file in Windows XP compatibility mode.

Note: it may be 3 install discs and a play disc.

Hi, i recently bought this game, perhaps ill advisedly. My laptop seemed smack between the minimum and recommended requirements so i went ahead and got it. Unfortunately upon installation there have been two issues: one, the config panel program for this game comes up blank, there are no options. This is obviously a fault.
Second is apparently my graphics controller is incompatable.
Needed is a 'NVIDIA GeForce series or ATI RADEON 9000 series graphics card with 32 meg of VRAM (AGP)'
Now you'll have picked up im an amateur, but my laptop graphics controller is a Intel(R) 82852/82855 GM/GME Graphics Controller. It has worked on any other game ive played so ive had no reason to think it wouldnt for this. I just assumed it would work.
So, does this game require something my machine cant provide? or is there a driver/program/facility/upgrade that can aid me in running it? Cheers.
Oh, and has anyone else had the config blank problem.

Recently, my friend let me borrow Final Fantasy VII (7) and I started playing it and really enjoyed it. Then he wanted the game back, so I gave it back to him and went out and bought it on my own. I stuck disc 1 into my computer and the blue screen of death came up and said:

"Error Reading CD-ROM in Drive D:
Please Insert CD-ROM
With Serial Number ****-**** in Drive D:
If the CD-ROM is still in the drive, it may require cleaning"

This never happened with my friend's CD. I tried uninstalling the game entirely and starting over from square one, but that didn't work either, I got the same message. Sometimes it says certain files are missing from the CD or the computer itselfs, and sometimes it works for a few minutes before the blue screen of death actually comes up. I am running on a Windows 95 machine.

Editted out serial number

Answer:Final Fantasy VII Problems

Does this happen with any other CD's? It sounds like one of two problems:

1. Your CD-ROM is dying

-or-

2. That CD is bad, and needs to be replaced.
If it never happens on other CD's, its safe to say its #2.

I have successfully installed and updated Final Fantasy on my laptop. When I choose to play the game, the screen goes black and then returns me to the Final Fantasy XI main menu screen. Their FAQ section says that i need to make sure UDP ports 1024-65535 are not closed. I use a Linksys router and a Linksys wireless card. Can anyone explain to me how i can check to see if these ports are open or closed? I have been to the routers page (192.168.1.1 in the web browser) and i can't figure out how to check if they are open or closed. All I see on the routers filters page for ports 0-65535 is "box" "~" "box", and the boxes have "0"'s in them. Also, how can I open them if they are in fact closed? Thanks for your help, it is very much appreciated.

Ok well I bought FF7 and FF8 (PC Versions) off ebay and I just got them today.

So I go ahead and pop the FF7 install disc into my drive and install it and everything seems to be going smooth. But then after I install it and I try to actually play the game, it seems like the game is going to start up but then a completely black screen pops up. Nothing at all, just totally BLACK. So I ALT+TAB out of the black screen and it takes me to my desktop. The name of the black screen window says FF7 - DEFAULT in all caps, so I'm not really sure what to make of this.

Then I hop on google and find out that there is a Windows XP patch for FF7. I download the FF7 v1.04 patch (which is supposedly the latest and greatest one) for Windows XP and install it and then yet again I try to play FF7, and guess what... it does the EXACT SAME THING!!!

This is extremely frustrating in light of the fact that FF7 is one of my favorite games of all time and now I cannot even play it! Not to mention I dished out some not-so-reasonable bucks to buy the damn thing. I lost my PlayStation copy of the game a loooong time ago and I was hoping this PC version would work for me and I could enjoy the game that I fell in love with all those years ago (like 10 years ago I think???).

If anyone has had any experience with the PC version of FF7 or has experienced problems similar to the ones I've had with the game and you think you might be able to help me out here, I would SOOOO very much appreciate it.

I bought final fantasy 8 for pc when it first came out. It never worked right on my compter. Back then, I had a piece of junk pc. Now, my comp is nice, and I just found my FF8. I installed it. Its asking for disk 1. I put disk 1 in the drive, but it says "Caution, wrong disk". I tried putting every disk in, I even tried putting every disk in both of my cd drives, but still nothing. I uninstalled the game, and reinstalled, still, the same thing. Now, this is NOT a warez/pirate copy of the game. Its the real deal. I still have the game box, for pete's sake. None of the disks are in bad shape. Anyways, is there something I can do about this?
Any help is appreciated!

I purchased FFXI with four expansion packs yesterday for my son and I have been trying since then to install it onto our computer. Our computer is new, purchased in February 2008, it has Windows Vista. With numerous tries, I have been able to install the Playonline Viewer, and Tetra Master. The last install was FFXI and the expansion packs. I have followed all the directions, but it won't download. I have looked online to troubleshoot problem and can not find any help. This is the message I keep getting:

"The install shield wizard has been interrupted and FFXI can not be installed. Your system has not yet been modified."

What needs to be modified and how do you do this?

I hope someone can help us or I have no choice but to return the game.

Thank you.

I've been having a problem with FFXI sinse I installed it a few months ago. When viewing objects that have some degree of transparancy (such as summoned creatures or people that fade out after chainging items) get corrupted and seem to flicker in and out of coherancy. It's difficult to describe the effect so I'll see if I can get a screenshot later.

Another problem I have is that sometimes during a battle or when there are alot of special effects going on, the computer randomly crashes and locks up, forcing me to do a manual restart.

Are these things related? Is there a way to fix them other than upgrading my graphics card? Specs follow:

Intel Pentium 4 2.66 GHz Processor
Gigabyte GA-8S648FX-RZ Motherboard
2 x 256 Mb 266Mhz DDR RAM (512 Total)
XFX nVidia GeForceFX 5900 XT GPU
Seagate 80 Gb Barracuda HDD
AOpen 5232 DVD/CDRW Combo Drive
500 Watt PSU

My system is not overclocked and has 2 system fans and an exhaust blower next to the GPU. Also, I usually play the game with a USB joypad.

Thanks for the help

So, I used to play FFXI a lot, and I've been considering starting back up sometime soon. However, the computer I played it on, seemed to have some trouble handling the game. Specs:

Laptop (Dell Inspiron 4150)
Mobile Pentium 4 - 1.7 GHz
640 MB RAM (PC2100 or 2700, I can't remember which...)
80 GB HD (5400 RPM)
16 MB video card (ATI Mobility Radeon 7500)

I suspect that the video card is to blame for the slow performance sometimes. Anyways, what I want to know is, if I max my RAM out to 1 GB, will that help the game run better at all? Also, I last ran the game when I was using a 30 GB HD, will there be any performance difference with the new HD?

Answer:Final Fantasy XI System Requirements

Im pretty sure that card isnt even supported by the game; sadly more ram won't help you out.

I got some great advice from this forum 5 months ago and I hope you'll be able to help again. I experienced a few BSODs while trying to play Final Fantasy XIV. The game is still in beta but I wonder if some problem with my system might be causing these rather than just a bug in the game. Thanks in advance for anyone who is able to help!

It appears you are having a graphics issue. I see you have Speedfan installed; could you please test your temps while gaming?

I've ran the settings config for this game, and it says the 8-bit palette texturing test fails. I've updated this game, gotten the latest drivers for my Nvidia card, and am also running it in compatability mode for Windows 98/ME, using 256 colors and 640 X 480 resolution. Yet still to no avail. There are black polygons surrounded objects in the game, making the graphics look a little choppy.

Please... help

I recently installed FF8 for PC and in-game, I hear no sound effects such as magic, gfs, etc. I only hear music. I'm not sure if I need to download a specific audio codec and which or what the problem is. Any help is greatly appreciated.

When I logged into Final Fantasy XIV on Nov 28 I noticed three things:
1. My character was not in the same city I had logged out in.
2. I was missing over 90% of my shards from my inventory.
3. All my gil (money) was gone except for a tiny amount.

I want to make sure this (and worse) doesn't happen again. I'm gonna order an authenticator and file a report with the FFXIV support people. If I was phished then I suppose the authenticator will solve my problem. I've already changed my passwords for FFXIV, email, and everything else using the Onscreen Keyboard just in case I have a keylogger. If I indeed have a keylogger or other malware I need to figure out how to get it removed! My AntiVirus scan with AVG (free) came up with nothing.

How do I discover whether I've got a keylogger or not?

Edit: I forgot to mention - I've never (knowingly) shared my FFXIV password with anyone (online of offline).

Answer:Someone has been on my Final Fantasy XIV (MMORPG) Account.

Sure does sound suspicious. Have you scanned your computer with any anti-malware programs or anti-virus programs?

Hello!
I just finished installing PlayOnline and FINAL FANTASY XI on my home computer. When I go to start playing the game the screen goes black and I expect to see the game, however, instead the PlayOnline Viewer window appears with an error message reading:

"Terminated as error occurred in FINAL FANTASY XI. Failed to recognize Hardware TnL.
Please check that this computer has the required specifications to run FINAL FANTASY XI.(-1)"

I believe my computer does meet the required specifications and therefore don't understand why I am recieving this error. I have installed, registered, and played this game on another computer before and never had any problems. I have emailed PlayOnlines Support, but was warned that it may take some time before they respond. I hope you can point me in the right direction... please let me know what further info would be helpful!

Thanks in advance!

Hi everyone,

I have Final Fantasy 7 and it looks like XVid and I have the codec for it but the picture is very choppy and blocky. I think it's a dvd rip and my friend put it on a data cd rather than dvd-r, would that be a problem? If you need more info please ask. Thanks in advance.

i installed Final Fantasy 7 cuz i've had it for ages, but never played through it. No problems on the install, no problems when configuring, everything passed (i would hope) and no sound problems. ok, so i start it up, and i get the title screen where i choose between a new game or continue and that works, so i go to new game, enter it, and the computer just sits there with a black screen. i go to the task manager and it says that it is running and everything runs smoothly. i did a maximum install, i didn't install directx 5.0 because i have 9.0 and i did install the yamaha sound synthesizer to run the sound. I've restarted several times and tried a low resolution, but it does the same thing. I'm thinking that Final Fantasy just can run FF7 because of the backwards incompatibility, which is a problem i keep having, and its really pissing me off.

my specs are
Microsoft Xp (5.1, build 2600)
Pentium 4 1500 MHz
256 meg RAM
Direct X 9.0a
GeForce 2 MX 200

i think thats all you'd need and i have the latest drivers, and ideas?

Answer:Final Fantasy Stops Running...

You should try running it in compatability mode. Find the FF7 executable (In the folder you installed it to), right-click it, hit properties, hit the Compatability tab, and selet it to run in Windows 98 or 95 compatability mode. Do it for any other .exe files in that folder.

I also found a patch for FF7, as well as other games, here. I have no idea if it works or not, but it's worth a shot.

What is you top 5 favorite Final Fantasy Games?1. Final Fantasy Tactics2. Final Fantasy Tactics: The War of the Lions3. Final Fantasy XII4. Dissidia Final Fantasy5. Final Fantasy II didn't include Final Fantasy XIII or Fabula Nova Crystallis: Final Fantasy XIII Trilogy because they are not out yet. I also didn't included games like Bahamut Lagoon which are technically not apart of the Final Fantasy canon but did include games like Vagrant Story because they are still part of the canon.

I hear that Final Fantasy VII is one of the greatest RPGs of all time. I never played it when it was out on the consoles. There was a remake of it for the PC available on Steam, but pretty much everybody gave it a thumbs down because it was such a bad port. Apparently they replaced some of the music and tweaked the gameplay, almost all of the changes made were for the worse.

I'm just wondering -- is there another version out there for the PC, or is that pretty much it? I don't understand why they would give a bad port to a great game.

Answer:Is there a good version of Final Fantasy VII for PC?

more recent links are available and the best way to be free of bad ports is to play the full game, as this would avoid such issues. requirements may need earlier OS then win10 but see how it goes. see Here
