Preferred Solution: Monitor Keeps Going on and off when playing games

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Sometimes when I am playing a game such as WoW or Team Fortress 2, my monitor goes blank and on a few occasions has been slightly different colors. Everything but the monitor appears to contiue running, but nothing responds. The only other noticeable thing when this happens is that the harddrive starts to make a noise similar to when it boots along with a flashing red light on the front of the tower. If I let the computer sit for a minute or two after it goes blank, it makes the "beep" sound when it boots...except it doesn't reboot, so I have to press the restart button to get it running again.

This has never happened while surfing the net, writing documents, etc, ONLY when playing a game. It does not happen extremely often, maybe 1-2 times per hour.

Answer:Monitor goes black when playing games

Hi Jeff,
That 'beep' that you get is probably telling you that your computer is not meeting all the hardware requirements for the P.O.S.T. (power on self test) but it sounds like your video card stops responding to commands from the display driver. whats happening when this goes on? like gpu temp, is your card overclocked? certianly not the only things to cause this but among the most common.

My videocard is Radeon 9200 Pro 128 mb
Ram 526mb..
When i start playing games..Example.. Plant vz, Zombie .. My monitor turned off suddenly and if i will use the alt+tab key.. it will go back to desktop and it will on.. can someone help me?? Is this because of the video card?? or anything??

Answer:My monitor turned off when playing games

Could be several things...could be a faulty cable, could be a bad connection...yes..it could be the video card. I have found that when weird graphical things start to happen and you have random shut downs or black outs...it's usually a heat problem in your system that's causing the video card to shut down. Make sure you have enough power going to your video card. When you really start playing a game if your PSU is starting to fail it might not be giving enough juice to the card and thus it shuts down. There are just so many things that could be the problem with your description.

Hello, i've been having this problem since i just got my new computer and the monitor i use is a HP so that's why i'm here so anyways, once i got my computer i set it all up and next you know when i try to run Call of duty black ops 2 and Counter Strike Global Offensive my monitor will keep flashing it turns black then turns on ect. I made sure this wasn't just my monitor i got my TV pluged it in with a HDMI and my tv worked 100% perfect but once i pluged the monitor in i was no longer able to play games because of this "flashing". This is also very weird because i'm actually able to play minecraft and nothing was wrong at all. But i tried to plug a different cord in the back of my monitor my whole screen was purple probably because the cord was broken but i was actually able to play any of the games. Can anybody help me or maybe this is just some faulty cord i have anybody help please? also sorry for my bad english ==Edit: Minecraft doesn't actually work either my bad.

Answer:Monitor keeps flashing when playing games

I was also thinking that i could be using the wrong cord if somebody could tell me the right one that goes with this monitor i'll be so happy i'm not very smart with computers :3

So 2 days ago I got a new monitor and since then I've been having BSODs when playing games for about 20 minutes, at first the game will crash and then when I open it again after about 1 minute I will get a BSOD saying "Attempt to reset display driver and recover from time out failed".

Answer:BSOD when playing games after getting new monitor

Hi SpongeSquid.

The monitor is just an output device. It has nothing to do with a stop 0x116 BSOD.

You Uninstall your installed latest version of the display driver.
How-To Uninstall AMD Catalyst Drivers From A Windows Based System
Then clean up any possible leftover.
Drivers - Clean Left over Files after Uninstalling
Then install any other version of the display driver which either 13.12 WHQL or higher (because your GPU will not support a driver below that one).

When the driver is applied, stress test the Graphics Card using Furmark.
Video Card - Stress Test with Furmark

Check if the Power Supply Unit (PSU) supplying adequate power to the computer or not.

Also let us know the wattage of the PSU.

Is the computer hot? Report us the heat of the computer after a couple of hours of your normal usage. Upload a screenshot of the summery tab of Speccy. Alternatively, you can publish a Speccy snapshot too: Speccy - Publish Snapshot of your System Specs .

Are you overclocking?
As you are getting BSODs, you should stop overclocking and run all the hardware components like CPU, GPU and RAM to their default settings.

And, the most important thing is, install Service pack 1 and all other windows updates. Otherwise the system will remain vulnerable to threats.

Ok, so just recently, when I start any game (whether it be CS:S or Guild Wars) my monitor goes black but you can still hear the game sound. I've never had this problem with my computer before and it has just started recently. My hardrive is still spinning so it's not like it is crashing so I have no idea. It just recently stopped going black for CS:S (Counter-Strike:Source on Steam) but now it does it for Guild Wars (MMO/RPG) so I'm really confused. My monitor is find doing everything else and never have experienced this problem doing anything else on computer. Any ideas?

Answer:Monitor goes black when playing games

I'd say it's your graphics card failing or possibly the power supply getting weak.

Hi

I am having an issue just now where when I am playing both Overwatch and DCS World my monitor(Not the PC) seems to go into hibernation/sleep mode, I can hear the game noises and my PC is still on, but the monitor just says no Signal. I just started to use W10a dn this has only been happening since W10, although I switched from W7 as I was getting some CTD?s. So they might be related, but the sleeping monitor is only happening in W10 64bit. I usually have everything maxed out and noticed when I reduce the settings then it doesn?t happen as often. So I am thinking temperature may be the issue, but temps are only 65 degrees approx.
I have a fairly decent rig.

AMD FX(tm)-8350 Eight-Core Processor
Gigabyte GA-990FXA-UD3 Motherboard
16Gb Kingston DD3 1600Mhz Ram
Nvidia 970 GTX

However I have a generic 850wt power supply. I do like it as it has all the connectors I need, but I realise it may be the weak link in my system. Budget constraints forced it upon me and if I can avoid having to replace it would be great, but I?ll replace if it?s the cause .

So my theories to the cause are
1) W10
2) Nvidia Driver
3) Graphics Card Temp
4) Or the PSU
Any opinions appreciated

Thanks

Answer:Monitor goes to sleep when playing games

I think gigabyte has a program for checking voltages either on the cd for that board or online, if not see if you can get one that will record temps and power while you play.
Also check your power, sleep and screen saver settings, change them to 'never' and see if that helps. If it doesn't, it's likely heat. Pull the side cover on the computer and let it breathe to see if it just needs more airflow.

I have a problem with my LCD monitor, whenever I play a game the monitor shuts down after varying amounts of time (Rome total war lasts longer than lord of the rings for example). No matter what game it is, it displays a “no signal error”. Then shortly after the sound goes (coming from stand alone speaker, not ones built into the monitor.) I have tried altering the graphics card drivers but to no avail. When we are in the XP it works fine, this is purely a game problem.

Specs;
Windows XP SP2
Nvidia FX 5200
AMD 64 3400 Processor

Any help much appreciated

Hello fine folks! I have a girlfriend (oh joy!) with a major LCD Monitor issue. Well that's the only issue I am allowed to talk about here anyways.

Over the past month her monitor seems to be resetting ONLY when playing some pc video cames. These are not really high resolution games such as Half-life or anything. These are free games found on Yahoo or Terragames webistes or the like. The oddest thing I find is that when the screen comes back (just black for 2-3 seconds) the game program is minimized. This does not happen with Excel, Word, or any other programs on her pc. I have had her uninstall and then reinstall the games to no avail. We have also adjusted the resolution settings about 6 times which didn't help either.

I am no expert but I have had pretty good success trouble shooting in the past, and this site has been instrumental in helping me on at least one other issue. So I was hoping somebody may have more experience than I do in this area and be willing to help. Please - she is becomming impossible to live with!!! No kidding. Please help guys!

Answer:LCD Monitor blackout and resets only when playing games??

Try uninstalling and re-installing the graphics driver and/or make sure you have the latest driver from the manufacturer!! If you have recently installed the latest driver for your graphics...try rolling back to the last version you remember being stable!!

It sounds to me like your graphics driver keeps trying to reset the screen resolution...which can be a result of a corrupt driver...or simply needing to update the driver in order for it to be compatible with what is giving you your problems!!

If you need anymore clarification...just let me know!!

So it was my birthday not too long ago, and my main problem at the moment is with my monitor (at least i think so). See it will run absolutely fine when not playing games, i can browse the internet, use skype and i can even play some games like league of legends but whenever i play any game from steam my monitor will run fine until it will randomly go black freeze the game and will not turn back unless i turn the computer off and then on again. This happens regardless of whether or not the game is in windowed mode or is in low graphic settings or not. Now i have got a conversion cable that converts the VGA cable that the monitor that my monitor uses into HDMI for the PC. The graphics card is an Nvidia 970 and I have attempted all that I could find in other forums on the nvidia control center but nothing seems to be working and no one on the internet seems to be of much help
Many Thanks

When I start up the computer the screen goes black at windows(vista home premium) startup and states "no signal". If I put the computer into sleep mode, then wake it up, the screen works. This also tends to happen when I playing certain video games, such as Free Realms, but not other games such as Oblivion and Civ 4. I had it diagnosed at a computer store and they said that no problem was found in my hardware and that "there were signs of Windows O.S. corruption" and recommended a system restore.

I restored my computer to factory settings yet that hasn't helped. I also cleaned the inside of dust and put new thermal paste on the heatsink.

My computer is a gateway with an AMD Phenom 9600 Quad-Core processor, 4 GB DDR2 memory, and an ATI Radeon 3650 HD graphics card. The monitor is only a few weeks old and works perfectly on other computers.

Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

Answer:Monitor disconnects at startup and when playing certain games

Have you tried reseating the graphics card, if using something other than onboard graphics?

No signal indicates a problem with the video transmission from system to monitor...the trick is to see which is at fault.

Can you try a different monitor with your system temporarily...to see if the situation replicates?

I'd say that the fact that it also occurs during game-playing...points at the graphics.

This problem has showed up in the last few days and it's becoming quite annoying. Basically, after a while of gaming (usually about 30 minutes of League of Legends, though it happens with other games as well), my monitor will just go black and the "on" light will start blinking, the same as when I turn the monitor on without turning the pc on. However, the pc doesn't restart (I still hear the fans, etc) and I can still hear the sounds from the game, though I don't believe it responds to my keyboard inputs.

Any help would be highly appreciated.

Answer:Monitor loses signal when playing games

Start by posting your temps and voltages; specifically the cpu temp, system temp, 12V, 5V, and 3.3V values. The info is available in the bios; read your mb manual for a detailed description of bios options/menus.

Next you need to list your exact system specs; ie exact mb installed, exact ram installed, exact pw supply installed, etc, etc. Note 4ig of ram does not really tell use much; 4gig of corsair xxx123 ram tells us a LOT more.

Hi

My monitor turns to standby mode and wont come out of it when i play Colin Mcrae Dirt at 1024x768 and above. Below this resolution my monitor seems to be ok. I am going to test it out with another game (Battlefield 2142).

Anyway I used ada32 to create a report on my machine and as you can see from the attached report it says i have no power connected to the Graphics Card. Which is not true as i have checked and there is a power cable plugged into it.

Any Ideas?

Hi,

Recently i have been getting BSOD while playing games and watching videos. Monitor blackout happens occasionally, with me having to restart the computer in order to get the screen back. I thought it might have been a software issue so i went and reinstalled the drivers, but to no avail. Im am suspecting it might be a hardware problem, but i cannot confirm it and i wont want to spend the unnecessary money unless hardware is really the issue.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Hello folks. This is my first post so greetings to everyone!

I have read multiple posts on the forum regarding the issue, and followed every possible solutions i could find but am still unable to solve the problem, even though some people are having the exact same problem with even the exact same graphics card. I am getting desperate to find a solution, and I therefore hope some of you guys out there have had a similar problem or know what could be wrong.

The problem started after playing Diablo 3 for some time, my monitor suddenly turned off, however the computer stayed on. The sound scratters for a second and then goes off, and I am unable to use the keyboard (Numlock/Capslock does not work). However, i recently discovered that I am unable to see my computer on my network through my laptop, and even copy files from it. To start with the crashes only occured rarely and after playing for hours, however the crashes now occured 10 minutes after start and they even started occuring playing other games like WoW and The Sims 3. My first thought was overheat, as CPU was getting temperatures above 80 degrees when playing. I opened the case and saw that the CPU-cooler stopped and started spinnning again every 3-seconds or so, so I bought a new CPU-cooler, and it does spin correct now. However, the crashes still occured, even though my CPU temperature was now at 50 degrees when idle.

My second thought was then the GPU, as it was also getting semi-high temperatures at 80+ de... Read more

My computer has been acting kind of weird when playing games as of late, no specific games, just NEW games. Everquest 2, it doesnt, but then TFC2, Need for speed prostreet, and World in Conflict it does... Anyways, the problem: After being in the game for 5 minutes or so, my speakers do this beep every few seconds and when it does, the screen freezes for a second. The beep sounds exactly like the speaker in the computer when you hold down too many keys or something...

I thought it may have been that my CPU was overheating, but I went out and bought a much better fan/heatsink and it still does it. Anyways, the specs of the system are:

Intel E6600 Core Duo
4gig of ram
ATI Radeon X1800 512mb

I also checked the video card fan and it is working fine and blowing out hot air out the back.. I have the newest drivers from ATI also. Really not sure what the problem could be. Any advice please?

OK im cant quite understand your thread that well but one thing I have spotted I have quoted above. You are runnging a VERY high end system here.
The Graphics card you are using requries a MINIMUM of 500w just to work and your using an ECO PSU of only 520W. Dont forget a PSU is nto 100% perfect so if you allow for a 5% error this may actually only give you a loss of approx 25W bring it JUST below the 500W requrie for the graphics card to run properly.

ALSO - the i5 Cpu your runnign as a TDP of 95W. TDP (or Thermal Design Power) is the maximum power that it would draw when running real applications. It could just simply be that your does not have enough power to run so it may be worth upgrading your PSU to a higher end spec say perhaps 650W.

Hope this helps

So, I swung by the local Goodwill, and they had a 19" monitor (Dell/Sony) for $20! So I picked it up, and connected it to my 9800 Pro as a second monitor to my 19" Viewsonic LCD. I went ahead and installed Ultramon, which has got to be the coolest app for running dual monitors.
Anyway, the whole reason I've been wanting dual monitors is so that when I play MMORPGs, I can load up a movie on the second screen. Here's the problem:

Although movies play fine on the 2nd monitor normally, the minute you load up a game it stops working.I believe it has to do with the use of DirectX and DIrectShow by both Winamp and the games. The issue is that I have tried all the regular media players (WMP, WinAmp 5, BS Player, Divx player, etc) and have had the same result.
I thought that there might be a way to turn of the DX acceleration on the 2nd display forcing the players to stop using DirectX, but if you try to do it in DXDiag, it disables DX usage on the entire video card (*lame*) . . . so then I tried to turn of DX usage in the players, but I don't think they pay attention to the settings (those that even have them), because it still won't work.

So, long story short, I can't figure out how to get it to work. Has anyone else had luck? If not, how about a video player that DOESN'T use DirectShow, but can use all the regular codecs (Divx/Xvid variants, etc).

Answer:Playing Video & Games/Dual Monitor Windows Annoyance

I played around a little to try and find a solution. But about the best suggestion I have for you is to run the game in windowed mode. That was the only way I could get both going at the same time.

Hi there, I'm not sure what this means when this happens but I've been investigating and doing what I can on my side to try and fix this.

My Story: I started college with a dell XPS laptop and that thing was just hell, 7 times parts had to be replaced and repaired. So, I tried to get a desktop, like I had when I was kid. This is a used computer from a person I know is honest. It is just unfortunate that problems have occured a week after I've gotten it.

The problem: I was excited about getting this computer and I decided to run some high end games on it at its max to see what it could do. They all ran like a champ. FPS in 100s, not a bit of slow down or overheating. This worked okay for a few days.

Two days ago, I noticed that the computer would not boot with video going to the monitor. The light would stay orange when it was on. I fiddled with the video card inside, took it out and resetted it and it worked fine. However, I started getting the problem when running any kind of game, where the video would freeze for 5 seconds, and then reboot.

What I've tried: I've monitored the temperatures and they are fine, I don't know how to go into a diagnostic tool that will test to see if everything works. Dell had a thing where you'd press F12 at start up and it'd take you to something, but this is a gateway.
I've done a system restore and an update of drivers for the video card and motherboard and now it will only freeze and sometimes lose video.

Answer:Lose video to monitor + crashes/reboots while playing games

As far as your problems with crashing while playing high end games, it could be overheating because your fan sinc can't keep the CPU cool, download and run "speedfan" and while you're running the games minimise and check the tempuratures. With the screen not working, try another monitor to see if its your graphics and if it works then its your monitor that is dieing

It is not coming from the tower either, the sound is coming from the top of the monitor (where the speakers are) and continues emitting when the computer is muted.
There is a continuous light buzzing sound but the sound is really amplified when playing steam games for example Skyrim, The Witcher, and Firewatch as shown in the video for some reason "lighter" games like Minecraft have no effect.
I've noted that on 0:20 in the video it does stop for a split second when changing the graphics settings

Dell ST2310 monitor goes into power save mode after around 10 minutes playing a game from disc. The disc is still playing, I can hear it through the speakers. When I press the button on the monitor it says no signal is being received from the computer. I cannot get the screen back on and so need to switch off the PC by holding down the power button. This only happens when playing a game.
PC is Dell, windows 7 64bit i-7 CPU 4GB RAM.
Any suggestions?

As the title states. Just recently my monitor has been going into power save mode while playing certain games. Not all games but some games. Which I am trying to figure out what the problem is before I take it to the shop. If i can somehow fix this issue myself that would be great. Since I really can not afford to buy a new system right now but will consider it if that is the case.

Before we get started I would like you to know the things that I have already done and still couldn't find a way to fix it. I do not think it's an over heating issue since I have ran programs to test my GPU temp and it seems fine. I tried the FurMark program and it shows that the temp is around 65 degrees. Which I was told that anything under 90 degrees is fine. I cleaned out the case so there is no dust in there anymore as well. I checked for any viruses and my pc is clean of any viruses. Lastly, I have also went into the power options menu and switch to high performance and changed the settings to Never on both sleep mode and turn off display but I still get that power save mode problem.

This problem just recently happened as well after I put in a new keyboard and mouse about a week ago. Not exactly sure if that caused anything though. I doubt it but could be. For the most part my system runs fine but just some games I play goes into power save mode and I am forced to restart my pc. Other times it automatically restarts my pc. I saw that it could be a dead battery on the motherboard that ne... Read more

Answer:Monitor goes into power save mode while playing games. Forced restart.

I had something similar happen while watching movies and it turned out to be a screen saver issue.

As part of my trouble shooting, I set the Power Options to never dim or turn off the display but the problem remained. Eventually I traced it to my screen saver which was enabled but set to "none" so the screen just went blank at the time-out I had in my SS.

Does it happen after a specific period of time or is it random? If it is the SS, the problem will occur at the time you've set in the SS. The clock starts after you last touch the keyboard.

It may be happening only during games because you're using a controller and not touching the keyboard. And it may happen only on some games and not others because of the way the game communicates with the computer; some games may disable the SS or periodically make a keyboard entry every minute or so.

Disable the screen-saver or set the time out at 60 minutes and see what happens.

Hello, I have a question. My Lenovo Yoga 720 15.6" doesn't overheat, although I've noticed something rather odd. When I play Fifa 17 with the charger plugged in, the fans are very loud and the laptop gets pretty hot. When I play Fifa 17 on battery only (charger not plugged in) the fans are quite silent and the laptop doesn't get hot at all. Why is that? For all I know, I would expect the exact opposite...Thanks in advance!Kind regards,Tijs

Answer:Lenovo Yoga 720 15" : hot when playing games on charger, cool when playing games on battery???

The CPU runs at full speed when it is plugged in and runs more slowly on battery to save power.  Faster = more heat.

So this is a problem I've been having for a couple months or so.

It started when I was playing a game, Payday 2, through steam. About maybe 20-30 minutes into playtime, the monitor suddenly went black and then said there was "No Signal" coming in from the PC, even though it was still plugged in.

Whenever I tried playing Payday 2 the same issue would occur but I did nothing about it.

Soon, other games led to the same problem. Some examples are Alice: The Madness returns (Happened maybe an hour into playtime), Dead Cells (Roughly an hour or two into playtime), and Fallout 4 (Happens 10-20 minutes into playtime). I might be forgetting others.

It's rather frustrating to not be able to play games on my desktop anymore, and this strange occurance only happens when I try playing games. I could leave the computer on for hours while not playing games, just watching YouTube or Twitch and still have it be fine.

Something I noticed recently when this happens: The sound will keep playing, but there's a moment where I won't have control over the game that's running. In Fallout 4, whenever the disconnect would happen, the game would return my mouse to the center of the screen and would not register mouse movement in that time.

I should mention that my PC has an HDMI port, where I use an HDMI to VGA converter to connect to the monitor. If I unplug and replug the converter, the screen will temporarily come back before disconnecting again. I've ... Read more

I've been having this issue for nearly a year now (probably around 9 months). It started after my little sister made me get a virus by her trying to download something onto my laptop. I've since taken it to a reputable computer shop as well as followed instructions from other computer wizs and I think it's no longer there. Issue is, my computer has kind of developed another problem after that. It freezes on it's own sometimes, when I pick it up or even when it's on a desk and immobile. It would also freeze when I play a game sometimes, loud buzzing sound as the game continues in loops I believe. I had BSOD problems earlier this year that was solved (Apparently. I haven't gotten any in about 4-5 months) when I had Windows 7 but this issue still persists.

When it would freeze and I manually turn off my computer and turn it back on, the laptop would sometimes say no wifi could be detected. At all. Not mine, not my neighbors, nothing. I've never really taken it out of the house so I don't know if it'd act the same elsewhere. I would then shut it down and take out the battery for 30 seconds before putting it back in. Sometimes the wifi would work then or I'd go connect it to my Internet Modem and the wifi would start working over there too.

So I'm not sure what's causing this problem. It's not overheating as I had it cleaned less than 4 months ago by a professional. I've had this laptop for two years and I really wanted it to last me at least 4 because I'll be going into an ani... Read more

Hello all,

I've been having a few problems with my laptop since I bought it. The problem mainly occurs when I'm playing a game (usually xcom: enemy unknown or deus ex HR at the moment) but has occurred when I'm browsing the internet (albeit far less often). The BSODs appear to be random but I'm using a blue tooth mouse and have noticed the BSOD will usually happened if I'm using it. I've also noticed that my laptop screen with black out for a split second on games that are quite graphics intensive for my system.

Its been frustrating me a lot so I reinstalled and fully updated windows 7. The GPU drivers are all up to date also.

I've attached the SF file that is required and would greatly appreciate any help.

Thanks for your time

This happens in Borderlands 2 and I am Alive. It has happened in some other games as well although I can't recall them. Most other games, it's fine, and this issue never occurs outside of select pc games. It only happens when my character "moves."

For example, in both Borderlands 2 and I am Alive," everything looks great until I look around. It's like a horizontal "bar" or "line" of distortion across my screen. I've tried reconnecting my monitor, and I reinstalled the newest drivers to my graphics card.

I have a GeForce GTX 560ti and my monitor is a Samsung S23A300B 23-Inch Class LED Monitor - Black running on a Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit.

Any suggestions or recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Here's the deal: I try to play fallout 3 and can get to the main menu and whatnot, but after the intro movie, when the actual game begins, my monitor displays the message "out of range" or turns pitch black. Usually I can hear the game's sounds playing out for a couple seconds while the screen is black. This happens and then my computer does a weird shutdown with the screen still black and no sound.

This out of range thing has happened with Bioshock too.

I've tried installing older versions of catalyst but that didnt work, nor did the Omega drivers.

I'm trying to play at resolutions that are supported by my monitor, 1024 by 768 and 800 by 600. So I'm wondering if maybe my graphics card is kaput? Or my power supply?

So I recently opened my CPU because it was lagging and I thought maybe a little clean up might do the trick. So I softly brushed the drivers inside the CPU to get some dust off. However, when I turned on my PC, it seems that whenever I watch videos or play games, a loud crackling sound comes out from my speakers. I don't know what is causing this.

I have tried disabling my drivers (sound and display) but to no avail. However, if I mute the volume on my sound driver, the sound disappears. Which lead me to the conclusion that it might be a conflict of sound and display.

Since the problem only occured when I opened my CPU and cleaned it, it might also be a wiring problem or something.

Can someone help me on this?

I just updated and rebuilt my PC and have reinstalled Win 7 64 bit and am constantly getting a BSOD while using the PC. Specifically while downloading/installing/playing games. I have also had the error occur just while surfing the internet.
From the program Blue Screen Viewer it seems to be caused by ntoskrnl.exe+7f1c0 and/or ntoskrnl.exe+7e769
I can not find any solution to fix this issue, I have updated drivers, I have ran the Microsoft memory checker, , I have changed out my memory, tried 2 other video cards, tried two different wireless network cards, now on wired connection, I even changed motherboards, got the errors on both SSD and HDD. The only things I haven't changed out is the PS and CPU, since I am using the PC to write this I am ruling out the CPU as the issue.

I have used Memtest86 and prime95 to test the memory and CPU, nothing is coming back with errors or issues. I did run driver verifier and got two .dmp files for some specific files but not sure what to do with those now. They are included in the attachement

It seems to be software/driver issue but I can not figure it out.

Any help would be great, thanks!

I have a twin brother who is upstairs and he used wireless he lagged alot and he only had problems if I was on my computer and that went on for a while. I have a grandfather who sat infront of me while I was on my pc and I couldnt do it so I moved upstairs but I didnt have a wireless pci adapter for my pc I had a wifi adapter which you plug in the wall to wirelessy connect to the router downstairs and I just put my pc's ethernet into the wireless adapter. I used that for a little bit until I couldnt take the high ping I was getting in game servers forcing me to just move my pc in the corner of my room and I havent been on it since. I have been playing ps4 using a wireless connect to the router downstairs. I have connection problems off and on but not every day. I today just got back on my pc and I am expieriencing constant lag and disconnection from games and discord. My router is the NightHawk AC1700 ,my Adapter is a tplink adapter. What can I do to increase my internet speeds I just dont want so much lag and horrible ping when I play my pc games with my friends.. and a reminder my router is downstairs with the modem.

Hello All

I have an HP Pavilion p7-1254 (at least started as that, had some stuff upgraded, explained below), AMD A6-3620 2.2Ghz Quad Core with AAHD2-HL board; save you the time of looking it up if needed. What happens is the system with will just freeze. Occasionally the audio that was playing with stutter infinitely like a skipping CD. Rarely I notice the system will stutter once or twice before totally freezing, happens in a couple seconds. But mostly, it just stops. When it freezes, the only option is to hard reboot.

I have had this problem for quite some time, probably about a year or two. At first I really didn't notice any consistency in the crashes, seems totally random. Some times it would freeze while browsing any random page, be it videos, forums, ad ridden or ad free. Any browser as well; Chrome, Firefox, IE. It also crashes when playing some games although not other games that have higher requirements; e.g. Guaranteed to crash, probably within 10 mins, if I play '8-bit Boy' on Steam (about as low res as implied) but I can go on 4 and 5 hour binges on Elder Scrolls Online or Skyrim with no crashes. I have recently noticed that YouTube videos (any video) is a guaranteed crash within a 20-30 seconds.

I have tried everything I have been able to find to do, to try and fix this issue; but none have worked. So far the hardware parts that have been replaced with new components are the RAM (now 2x4GB GEIL Enhanced Corsa PC3-12800), HDD (now 2TB WD Cavi... Read more

Hi Guys,

I have issues with my desktop. I randomly get the bsod (kernel data inpage error). I thought it started after I installes the new ATI drivers. So I tried older drivers but without any result. After that I thought it was an issues with Win 7 64bit. So I installed 32bit. But still I get the bsdod.

can you please help?

Win 7 32 bit

hardware about two years old.
I have a new installed os.The old one started giving trouble after 2 years.

Answer:BSOD randomly after playing games or playing movies )

SP1 isn't installed, please do the following:

Quote:
Installing Windows 7 Service Pack 1
1. Visit the PC manufacturer's website and update ALL drivers. DO NOT use Windows Update or the "Update drivers" function of Device Manager.
2. Check Device Manager for any unknown/disabled devices - if there are unknown/disabled devices, fix them with the latest drivers from the device manufacturer's website (not the PC Manufacturer)
3. Visit Windows Update and get all updates (may take repeated visits)
4. Visit Windows Update and get Service Pack 1 (usually under Important Updates). Read these notes for installing SP1: Steps to follow before you install Windows 7 SP1 and Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 from the Microsoft Download Center
5. Visit Windows Update and get any other available updates. May take repeated visits, but keep it up until you get several "Windows is updated" results.
If you're having difficulties with installing a Service Pack, please use the SURTool from this link: What is the System Update Readiness Tool?
Also, check out this troubleshooting link from Microsoft: Troubleshoot problems installing Service Pack 1 (SP1) for Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2

I have had limited success in installing updates/Service Packs when using a "clean boot". I suspect that I'm just bypassing the problem - and that it can come back to bite me in the butt later on.

Hello guys. So here is my issue i dont really know how to specific it further then this still hope it will help.

I have been getting BSOD for a while now and it's getting to the point i cant do a single thing on the computer. I did the config for dumps and so on and ended up with this RAR file with all the info i assume. I mostly get the bluescreen when i try to watch anime etc on googlechrome. It never works it's a matter of seconds before the BSOD comes. But when watching it on other browsers like opera it works just fine "mostly" even there it bluescreens from time to time. And then there is when it's most fatal, Playing onlinegames. Whenever I play online games like World of warcraft, League of Legends, Heroes of Neweart etc etc etc i risk getting bluescreens. It differs very much from game to game how often the bluescreens appear and it seems to not be preformance related since sometimes i play constantly for hours when maxing out games and pushing the computer to it's limits when it comes to frames. And still the bluescreen lies in dorment waiting for a more suitable interrupt for me. From the looks of it the bluescreen is related mostly to my operatingsystem more then commponents after i looked at the dumpfiles via "Bluescreenviewer".

I'm pretty clueless when it comes to this and i hope you guys can help me with this. also this is my first post so I maybe did this typical "bad thread", Still i hope this will get me atleast closer to... Read more

Hello, first time poster looking for help as I can't diagnose my issue after trying numerous things. Currently when I play a game the BSOD happens randomly, I can go a whole day without it, or it can happen frequently. It happens the most when I close or exit a game, then it'll kick to a blue screen.

I really appreciate what you guys do and I hope I followed all the instructions right on how to post my logs and stuff, here's the attachment and some basic system specs:

OS: Windows 7 Ultimate x64
I have reinstalled to this computer numerous times.

CPU: Intel Core 2 Quad q9550 @ 2.83 ghz

GPU: Radeon HD 5770

Mem: 4 Gigs of Memory

Motherboard: p5n32-e sli nforce 680i chipset

Answer:BSOD Playing various games, closing games, no overheating.

Before we can even begin to find the underlying cause you need to update the following drivers. Especially asacpi.sys. Yours is from 2005

Code:
ASACPI.sys 3/27/2005 10:30:36 PM
Lycosa.sys 1/18/2008 4:51:42 AM
nvm62x64.sys 10/17/2008 5:01:06 PM
netr28x.sys 2/25/2009 11:02:09 PM
How To Find Drivers:

Quote:
- search Google for the name of the driver
- compare the Google results with what's installed on your system to figure out which device/program it belongs to
- visit the web site of the manufacturer of the hardware/program to get the latest drivers (DON'T use Windows Update or the Update driver function of Device Manager).
- if there are difficulties in locating them, post back with questions and someone will try and help you locate the appropriate program.

- - The most common drivers are listed on this page: Driver Reference Driver Reference

Hi guys,

I have a really annoying problem... I have a dual screen set up on my desktop pc, and when I open a video in any media player and move it to my secondary monitor, it automatically plays full screen on my primary monitor as well!!

It's been going on for a while now, but just thought I'd actually see if anyone can help me!

I'm running win xp pro sp 3 and my video card is ATI Radeon HD 2400 Pro... does that help?

Anyway, is there a setting somewhere that I need to address??

please help!

Have you tried installing the lastest drivers? And is the second monitor spanned or cloned? I don't know here to tell you to look as I'm an nVidia guy...haven't used ATI in years.

It doesn't happen often but sometimes it freezes for a second while loading a certain game which works fine on another day and gives BSOD. Sometimes it happens after I've loaded the game and am in the moment of playing. My hardware is more than enough for the games I run and I even run them on low-mid even though I can manage high settings. The games I usually run are CS:GO, League of Legends and Modern Warfare 3 [rarely play; received 1 BSOD while loading it]

I've uploaded my dump files.

Thank you.

Question: Playing games

Hi,Not really sure if this is the right place to post - I don't really have much of a clue what I'm doing with computers. I've had a Dell Dimension for about a year and a half, about a month ago I reinstalled XP. I could only get the CD and DVD player on the cd drive thing (samsung cdrw/dvd sm-352f ) to work and it wouldn't recognise games - the screen froze every time I put one in the drawer. I downloaded the driver from the dell website for the samsung cdrw/dvd sm-352f and it worked fine for about two weeks before the same thing happening again. This time I've tried to download the driver again, and although it seems to install it doesn't fix the problem of not being able to run games. If anyone could help, I'd be very grateful, I'm experiencing football manager withdrawl symptoms  :-/

Did you get this machine new? What model? What is the service tag for the machine? (It should be on the side of the case). Do you have any spyware/adware/virus protecion in place and being used? Do you have a shiny Windows CD if you should need to reinstall?

First off I am new to all this
I have win xp home, and would like to play old games (such as Full Throttle)

I have tried the win xp compatability mode with no success.

Have downloaded scummvm and dos box but I simply dont understand how to use them.

I looked at vm ware which allows multiple systems such as 95 and 98 but I dont see how that works because of the more powerfull system I have (which I assume would be too powerfull for the old games) ie 1 gig ram 128 vid card athlon 3000+

I tried to buy a win 98 PC but it seems harder than I imagined.

One person was reluctant to sell me a reconditioned xp when I asked him to uninstall xp and put in win 98.

I am rather puzzled I thought it would be simple to play old games but apparently not so

I would appreciate any help to enable me to play these old classics. Such as what system I would need, Or help re VMSCUMM or DOS BOX

Thank You for your advice

I have an Old Dos Game that I was able to find in bin format and was trying to figure out how to play it on Windows 10. I was trying to figure out DosBox but maybe it's just me but it's too complicated.

Anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks

Answer:Playing Old Dos Games

With DOSBox things are rather basic since I can easily run some old 8bit dos games on the 64bit Windows 10 as well as previously seen on the 64bit Windows 7. With a basic entry to mount the game's program folder on a virtual drive you then simply type the name of the main executable to see it run.

One classic title was the 8bit Duke Nukem where the first entry was "mount c: c:\duke nukem 1" where the custom folder had to be created for the old game since that didn't have any installer. Once mounted I simply typed in "dn1" being the "dn1.exe" file for starting the game up. The game loads right up!

A PC World article on DOSBos makes for a good read along with the Wiki and other sources since this is an easy one to learn how to use. The PC World article can be looked over at: How to Use DOSBox to Play Classic Games | PCWorld

The dosbox.com wiki is seen at: Basic Setup and Installation of DosBox

And then there's the How-To-Geek site for another guide. How To Use DOSBox To Run DOS Games and Old Apps

With a newer game that is more involved like the Duke 3D sequel with a Dos/9x capable installer you would need a different type of emulator since DOXBox is intended mainly for the stand alone type games that simply unpacked into a folder from a cd collection if not bought back then on a floppy disk. A lot of those old titles are now if found totally free to download since they were long ago discontinued since at this late date who would still b... Read more

How good is the TV for displaying PC game graphics? I have an Xbox and Alba TV and the picture/graphics are brilliant. I presume this is what the TV out feature of the grahics card is used for? Would you also overcome the problem with high response rates of some TFTs?Just imagine those big Rome Total War battles on a large TV screen :-)

Answer:Playing PC games on TV

I would probly think they were very blury.Probly crud graphics just as they would be on a PS2.I really cannot sit and play a PS2 because of the graphics its really slow and jerky, and the game programmers try to use a trail technique to fade out the all the bumps,of course it hardly works and gives the screen a cloudy affect.Xbox graphics on a tele are not bad,but everything is out of proportion, and sound doesn't go in time with the picture. You can indeed plug a S-Video cable from your TV-out port to your tele and see the screen as normal, but like i said it will probly be blury.I prefer classical CRT's to TFT because they have a more colourfull picture, although to be honest the TFT's give a crisper picture."Just imagine those big Rome Total War battles on a large TV screen :-)"Just imagine those big Rome Total War battles on a Digital projector, huh? ;-)

well i say games, ive only had a pc capable of playing decent games for a few days, so i downloaded a demo of doom 3 and i just wondered why my fans dont speed up whilst playing? it just seems to stay the same as when its not under load? is this because doom3 isnt "taxing" my system therefore nothing gets so hot to require fans speeding up?

Answer:when playing games...............

The only fan that is going to speed up is the cpu fan in most cases and You probably don't need it to speed up and that is why it isn't. Check your temps with speedfan or eversthome or I like people to use the software that comes will almost all boards. (then you are 100% sure the readings are accurate) What board do you have.?

Hi guys
At present I play MMO's through a 'ProLite E227HDS iiyama led 22" Monitor'. I'm finding the playing area to be too small. Especially with all the in game information that needs to be on the screen at all times.
I've looked at getting another larger monitor, but they seem a bit pricey for my pocket at this time. So, I happen to have a 'Toshiba REGZA 32" led/lcd TV' that I'm not using. I connected it to the PC and it displayed on the screen. However, only in a relatively small, square area in the middle of the screen. The only way I've been able to get it to fill the whole screen is by stretching the picture.
Q - Does anyone know how I can get it to use the whole screen and keep the aspect ratio. When I connected it then I used D-SUB, because that is how I was connecting to the monitor. I have since changed the way I connect to the 'iiyama' I am now using DVI. However the TV doesn't have a DVI socket. The other connection choices are...
HDMI x 3 and LAN

With the HDMI connection you should have no problems. Go to the control panel and set the screens to appear for the same desktop on both.

I suspect it could be a Virus/Malware/Trojan problem but thought i would post here 1st thinking it could be something in my advanced settings for IE 7. I have IE7 on because i had problems with IE8 (not related to this problem).
Have been into IE tools and reset all default options, have also run scans with AVG, SpyBot, MalwareBytes, and CCleaner, as well as Reg cleaner. All say everything is fine, thus why i have posted here first.
All help appreciated and thx in advance.

Read more

Question: games not playing

games not playing
Hello . What I need is a little advice...

I noticed that the computer was running slow so I clicked on my computer and went into performance and saw that only 37% resources were free. I called Dell and they made me go into msconfig and had me UNCHECK many many items so that all the icons that were in the system tray are now gone. No big deaL but we have noticed that some of the games that I downloaded from the web no longer work!. Like a game called Snood. I downloaded it again but to no avail. It says you have to have Direct X version 7 to play the game but upon searching my files I have version 8. Do I download their version and overwrite the newer version with the older one??? Will this screw anything up??? What to do. I can tell you that now when I right click on my computer and look into the performance tab there is now 83% resources FREE. Wow. But what do I do with the games that no longer work. What could be the reason that they no longer work? I even RECHECKED all the boxes that they had me recheck just to see if they would work and they still do not work??? What could have happened. I even did a system restore to the day before the unchecking of the startup items and still they did not work. Once again what do you suggest I do and how do I correct it.? thanks. Once again everything seems OK and even faster but these few games like "HOUSE of THE DEAD" and SNOOD which were downloaded from the web no longer work. Everything else is fine.

Answer:games not playing

Hiya

Is this the version that you have of SNOOD:

http://www.snood.org/

It looks like a Demo, so maybe the timer has run out. Did it have a 30 day expire date?

Do you have anything left in the startup? Lets have a look:

Go to Run and type MSINFO32
On the left choose Software Enviroment, then Startup Programs. Copy/paste the list here.

Also, go here and download AddAware http://tomcoyote.com/lsindex.html

Download and run, ensuring that Deep Registry scan is enabled. Remove all except any references to Web3000 or new.net. If you're unsure, copy/paste the list here.

Also, whilst you're there, download and install RefUpdate to get the latest updates. Just click Connect.

Installing Direct7 over 8 won't do any good. In fact, not sure if it'll let you.

Also, where did you get HOUSE of THE DEAD from?

Regards

eddie

Hi, im new here, i felt this was the place to post my problem.

When ever i am in the middle of playing a game, all of a sudden the screen goes black for a few seconds and then when the display does come back up, i get this animated fuzzy screen with the game still running. the only way to get it back to normal is to Alt+Tab out of the game and maximize it again. But after a minute or so it comes back again. this happens to most of my games.

I have the very latest Nvidia drivers and still i get the problem.
I know it might be something to do with my graphics card... maybe adjust some settings... i have tried changing the refresh rates.. but didnt work.

Can someone help me? I have uploaded a video if you dont get what i mean.

my system spec:

Amd AthlonXP 2500+
768mb RAM
GeForce4 Ti4200 64mb
120GB harddisk
Win XP SP2

Does anyone else's phone get EXTREMELY hot when playing games? I play Chaos & Order, and usually end up playing like 5 minutes at a time because my 920 gets HOT... Like I-can't-even-touch-it HOT! But anyway, my real question is: Does that problem persist on these new Quad Core phones? (1520,930) I am thinking of upgrading to the McLaren in November so any info on that is greatly appreciated! Viva La WP! ?

Answer:920 Getting HOT while playing games!

If you play games on a mobile . YES they do heat up because your processor is running at its MAX. I can not hold my ipad when I play games like infinity blade 2. Or asphalt 8, subway surfers on my lumia 920.

Answer:Playing games on PC

I'm assuming your using an emulator to run the games? What emulator are you using? The problem might be specific to the emulator, and its a bit hard to help unless we know more details. Try to post as much information about the problem as possible, and we will try to help.

Rose

Answer:playing games

Hello, Rose. I searched for your problem, and found a topic with a user having almost exactly the same problem, even for the same game. Here is a link to that topic

http://forums.techguy.org/games/1364...en-trying.html

The user claims they uninstalled then reinstalled Shockwave, and it fixed the problem. But...

You may wish to check this link FIRST http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/welcome/ to see if your Shockwave player is working and or up to date. IF yours is working, you will see the animation on the page, if not, it will ask you to install the Shockwave plugin. I clicked it myself, and it says that I need to install the missing plugin (Shockwave).
