Preferred Solution: computer just restarts when playing games getting worse

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

This is the worst thing ive ever experienced. When I went to a lan called Respawn i installed some new drivers for my gfx card. My gfx card is old so the drivers i installed wern't actually for my graphics card. It was by accident.
Ive reformatted my computer 2 times now both of the times this error still occurs. When im playing a game my PC just suddenly resets.. I get this error message when i get back on windows...

"Windows has recovered from a serious error"
I click on send error report it then furtherly takes me to a page that describes it.
Here is the image

This occurs everytime i play a game. i was excited today thinking it only happens to me when i play counterstrike source so i went out and bought a new gamecard for world of warcraft now.. it restarts when i play.. anyone please help !!!

Answer:Computer restarts while playing games

I'm not sure what you mean by 'reformatting' but what you should have done is rolled back the driver via the device manager

First off, I have been looking as hard as I can to solve this problem but have met a dead end each time.

So, this problem has only appeared ever since I moved homes; which was about 3 months ago. Before, I could play whatever games I wanted without a problem. However, ever since I moved, playing certain games causes my PC to just restart. Not shutdown, but just restart as is.

There is no BSOD or error messages when the PC restarts. The games that I have that would restart the PC are:
- 7 Days to Die
- Planetside 2
- CS:GO
- Dragon Age: Inquisition (However, the times it crashed with this game were few)

Those were only some of the games that would restart my PC while games like Minecraft never did any harm. Any help to resolve this issue would be appreciated.

P.S. I have attached the zip file stuff asked for when making a thread

First thing to do...disable Automatic Restarts When Windows Crashes - http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/74644/how-to-disable-automatic-restarts-when-windows-crashes/ .Next time the system crashes, note and write down the error message onscreen. My basic reference for STOP error data: http://www.aumha.org/a/stop.htm.You might also check the system for possible overheating, games force the system to work harder than normal, IMO.Cleaning the Interior of your PC - http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/cleaning-the-inside-of-your-pc/ Louis

The computer only restarts when playing 3d games, could be 5 mins in or 30 mins in, but will always happen. replaced the memory and the graphics card. also scanned for viruses and spyware. even reinstalled windows. made all bios and drivers upto date.
Enabled the cpu overheat alert in bios, with no warning about overheating before restarting. Also figured if it restarted due to cpu overheating would have to wait till colled down to restart, but restarts immediately. Plus I can push the cpu to other limits by transcoding video while running other programs. Used a cpu stress test which passed.

hardware

gigabyte p965 ds3 MoBo
Intel Core 2 duo 6600 cpu with thermaltake cpu fan
460w power supply
2x 1 gb memory
2x sata Harddrive
1x ide ata hard drive
1x dvd drive
creative X-fi extreme gamer
ATI x1950 video card
2 case fans

Fan on the cpu is set to increase rpm when heat rises, but never really gets high rpm.

Fan on the video card runs fine, not clogged by dust, plus its new

I have 2 case fans that work fine too.

Now I use to have an ATI x700 which does not need its own power connection. But it did this with this card too. so PS should be ok. Also checked this by removing 2 hard drives and dvd drive and 1 ram stick, computer still restarts in 3d games.

MoBo is set to warn me if cpu gets over 60c which it never does.

Please if anyone can come up with something else to check.

Answer:computer restarts when playing 3d games

Sounds like maybe the power supply? But if it's taking on large loads without restarting other times then I don't see why a game would do it. Is it only restarting with one game or a few of them? Are all your games on one hard drive? It could be the hdd acting up. Just a few ideas.

Hello everyone, I'm having some trouble with my computer. Hope you can help me out.
Over the past weeks I have been playing whitout and problems, but this week after playing tha sames games my screen would freze and after that a restart would happen.
In some games it does that in other it doesn't. For example PUBG would work great but Subnautica for instance would crush after 30 mins of use.
My CPU temps when it crushes are around 55-60, maybe even lower.
I did a 3DMark run and here are the results:

I ran the memory diagnostic tool to see if it was RAM fault and everthing was ok
Maybe a PSU or GPU problem? Can you help me out?

I recently purchased an ASUS AH3450/HTP/256M Radeon HD 3450 256MB 64-bit GDDR2 AGP 4X/8X because I wanted to play Fallout 3. My old card was a ATI Radeon 9800 Pro AGP and it couldnt cut it. The problem is, when I try to run the game, my system reboots completely. Somebody on the Fallout support forums mentioned this could be due to my lack of ram.

The restarting also happens with Counter Strike: Source, when previously I could run it with my 9800 Pro.

I have a 450 W power supply.

Answer:Computer Restarts when playing certain games...

Hello Hans ,

yes you need to add more ram / memory

here is a link to check your system & get pricing

http://www.crucial.com/

or

http://www.tigerdirect.com/

or

http://www.newegg.com/

or

http://www.memoryforall.com/

i would add at least a gig for those games & the video card are very demanding & ram / memory hogs

i would even seggust a newer/ larger power supply / at least a 600 wat thermaltake / 600wat ocz / or like name brand

for of your other devices also will put a strain in that department & cause a shut down

also some case cooling fans to lower the temps in your case to wich will make your system perform better

Answer:Computer restarts when playing games

Have you checked your system tmperatures especially after gaming? Particularly check your video card fan and see if that and if your case fans are working.

Gaming puts a load on your video card which results in more heat and if it gets too hot the system wiill shut down to prevent damage.

I bought my computer around 14 months back and I am facing this issue for the past two months

Issues and symptoms:

1) My computer restarts when I open a game. Sometimes it restarts just as soon the main page is loaded and sometimes it restarts just after a couple of minutes of playing or maybe an hour of playing

2) The BSOD doesn't appear at all.

3) THE MOST WEIRD ISSUE: The problem worsens during daytime. During the night I am able to play games normally without even tuning the fans. For example I played Farcry 3 in HIGH setting for about 4 hours straight last night from 11 o' clock onwards. This morning even the main page wont load before the computer restarts. The night the day before I was able to play for 30 minutes intervals before the computer restarted.

4) Just before the computer restarts though I have noticed that the EZ debug light on my computer for the CPU blink for say a tenth of a second.

5) The problem happens with all games be it Civilization 6 or Dishonored or Farcry 3.

Remedies tried:

1) I have disabled the option where the computer is supported to restart in case of failure in the Startup and Recovery section.

2) I have tried turning on the GPU and CPU fans to maximum but the computer still restarts

3) I ran the FURMARK test and saw that my computer restarts still so I suspected it to be the GPU, so I sent it to Asus; I don't know what they fixed but the computer still restarts

4) I check event viewer for error logs and I got thi... Read more

This has been happening for a while now, I have also tried opening my case up and running games such as sims/ star wars the old republic and it still happens, I have felt everything in my pc and nothing seems hot.
It does this during most games i play, sims 3, sim city and star wars old republic. I have a Radeon HD Graphics card, 8gb ram, 500w PSU, 6 core AMD processor. Does anyone have any ideas? The pc just turns off with a black screen so I do not get no blue screen or anything. any ideas? Thanks a lot.

Also -
I have tried scanning for viruses/ malware etc and i do not think its that.

I just build this computer 2 days ago, all items are new.

Here's my spec;
Intel Core i5-4460
Gigabyte H97-HD3 Motherboard
Cooler Master Power Supply Elite V2 550W
Sapphire DUAL-X R7 265
Vengeance 4GB Ram x2

The restarts happen after an hour or two in game. Sometimes less than half an hour.
Monitored my system heat (cpu and gpu), no significant heat change stays, only around 55 degrees C ( in game ) and 40 C.
Updated BIOS but it still happens.

Any chances of solving this without having to change any hardware?

Hi,

I've got a problem, as can be seen from the title. Anyway, I have recently started playing Red Orchestra again, and 4 times now my computer has restarted with no warning, and also when it starts up again there are no alerts or anything.

Also, it is weirder because when I am running games on high settings, it obviously heats up the card and the fan runs fast for about 30 seconds and the stops.

But some times at the point the fan usually slows back to normal, the computer just restarts.

Also, when just playing the World In Conflict Demo, on Very Low settings, because I didn't want to chance anything higher than the lowest (it looked crap by the way), it cut out, and the fan on the card wasn't running fast or anything.

Anyone got any ideas? Is it cooling? Power supply failure?

(There is also another problem that my computer doesn't restart unless I leave it off for about 15 minutes, but that's a whole other kettle of fish).

Thanks in advance.

Answer:Computer restarts while playing games with no warning

Chances are that this is either heat or RAM; and either of these on the main board or the graphics card.
The fan you hear - which one is it? PSU, CPU, VGA? It could be that the component that is overheating is not the one controlled by the fan you hear changing speed.
Start with the basics and make sure all the fans are clean and the airways clear. You could get a can of compressed air and blow the dust bunnies out the heatsinks. I do not recommend using a vacuum cleaner.

Hi, about I week ago I posted a thread describing my issues when playing graphic intensive games.

When I try to play either Fallout 3 or Counter Strike Source my computer IMMEDIATELY restarts when the game begins. As you could guess, this means I cant play these games at all.

mike2020learnin replied to my last thread recommending I get some ram, so i got a stick of 1 gb ram, now I have 1.5 gigs total.

I still have the exact same problem I was having before. Mike suggested I get a better PSU - I have a 450 W PSU. He suggested I get a 600 W. Is this the definite fix I need? Thanks!

P.S. - It should be noted that I could play Counter Strike: Source with my old Radeon 9800 pro that I switched out for the Radeon HD 3450.

Answer:Computer Restarts when playing certain games...PART 2!

Restarts could be a number of things, such as your CPU could be over heating, or maybe that Radeon HD 3450 because your 450W power supply just doesnt have the juice to keep flowing electrity accuratly, instead it could be jumping volts. which really isnt healthy for your components.

But i recommend you buy a decent power supply by a well known and reliable manufacturer, i would personally go with Corsair, they seem to be the most reliable and most popular at this time.

Also when you said "so i got a stick of 1 gb ram, now I have 1.5 gigs total" you have just installed a completely different size of RAM onto your PC, whih no doubt you have bought a completely different manufacturer from your stock pc.
This could dramatically effect your PC because they both could have different RAM speeds and timings, you should really buy in PAIRS of the EXACT same, especiallaly if your PC will be running DDR or DDR2.

"1536 Megabytes Installed Memory

Slot 'A0' is Empty
Slot 'A1' has 1024 MB
Slot 'A2' has 512 MB"

That isn't good for your computer, especially running games.

Hi guys!
My problem is pretty simple to explain but impossible for me to solve... i'm starting to be really frustrete.
Basically, while i'm playing a games, as Elder Scrolls Online or Fifa 17, randomly my computer deicide to restart it self...
In the event viewer that's what i found:

I'm not using any overclock mode, and the power cable is connected alone in the socket on the wall.
Some of my friends suggest me to put the PSU, cable alone straight on the wall, and I did it, but nothing change.
The problem doesn't happen all the time, it's so random...
Tell me if you need more information.
Thank you guys.

Answer:Computer restarts randomly when playing games!

Typical problems that you can try to mitigate: Get the latest drivers for your NVIDIA card and install them. Be sure your system is clear of 'dust bunnies' - use canned air to clean out any dust residing on fans and heat sinks in your computer system. Next, run this command from an Administrator Command Prompt (right-click Start button to get to this) - dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth

After running the program, if it comes up with a message stating that it cannot correct problems it finds, you will need to let us know about it.

Problems that these instruction help alleviate is bad / corrupted video driver install, overheating issues, data corruption of Windows 10 OS. The three most common issues of random rebooting while playing video intensive programs. Last two things to check require a lot of patience - move some programs and data files from drive C to drive D (make sure your primary boot drive has at least 10% of the total space of the drive free - you look good here), and do a memory diagnostic check through the Windows diagnostic startup menu.

For about 3 years my computer has been restarting itself without warning. It only restarts when I play certain games. Almost every time my computer restarts, there are a bunch of vertical, grey, lines/bars running down the screen. I can play Team Fortress 2 for almost 4 hours straight, and not a single problem. I can only play Skyrim for about 15-30 minutes without the computer restarting. The sooner I can get a reply the better, it is SO ANNOYING to have your computer restart after only 30 minutes of gaming!

I'm losing my mind here and really need some help. A few weeks ago I shorted a sata port and been trying to assess damage ever since. At first everything seemed fine, but then games started restarting randomly on me, although some games seem to be totally fine. Currently one game rarely makes it past the loading screen without restarting my computer. When it restarts, there is no blue screen even if I tell it not to automatically restart. In the beginnging I was getting a few bluescreens but they all had different error messages. Looking in the event viewer just shows the unhelpful 41l Kernel-Power error code.

I've tried anything and everything I can think of and am in serious need of help. Please and thank you!

Things I've tried:
Replaced: PSU, Motherboard, Case (not that it matters)
Tests: MemTest86, SeaTools for HDD, Windows chkdsk, FurMark, HotCPU
Reinstall Windows 10, turn off all audio drivers but one on all of them, boot with each stick of RAM individually
All tests passed, no errors found on any of them. I have not seen GPU or CPU temp beyond 70.
Games that crash: Dishonored 2, HOTS
Games that I cannot get to crash at all: Deus Ex Human Revolution

Answer:Computer restarts upon playing and sometimes launching games

Event ID 41 errors are simply Windows' way of saying it doesn't know why the system shut down.
Most often this is a hardware problem (although it can also be due to compatibility issues or low-level driver problems).

I'd start with these free hardware diagnostics:  http://www.carrona.org/hwdiag.html (feel free to skip those that you've already done)
Please run ALL of the tests and let us know the results.
If they all pass, then I'd try this procedure:  http://www.carrona.org/strpdown.html

Maybe try another video card?

I absolutely can't figure this out, and so far no one else has either. Hopefully you guys can give me some ideas.

The issue is that when I play certain games my system shuts down and restarts in the middle of playing (Its not just restarting because the power light go out and the fans stop for a few secs before coming back on). Some games take 2 hours before it turns off for the first time, others only take 20 min. and some don't give me issues no matter how long i play. Once the system shuts down the first time it doesn't take as long for the game to cause shutdowns after that (Usually under 10 min.).

At first this sounds like a heating issue, however, some games never give me issues, even if I play after the problem games cause a shutdown. Also the temps look fine to me (both CPU and GPU). I also don't believe the issue is with my PSU because it is an ultra X3 1000-watt.

I currently don't have any add-on cards except for my Video card and a sound card. I have tried removing the sound card but still have issues. All the parts are nearly brand new with the exception of the sound card, and since I built the system I really haven't used the system all that much till recently. I have ran a RAM test and it did not fail so I don't have reason t suspect that.

My system has the following:
Intel DX48BT2 Mobo.

Hey guys, I've been having some problems with my PC restarting whilst running games. This is not just high demand games, but some low demanding ones too (eg. lego harry potter, League of Legends). It simply just powers off and starts back up instantly without reason or warning.

I read through a few similar threads and noticed that the PSU was a recurring problem for others with similar problems, so I upgraded from a Corsair VS 550 to a Corsair RM 650, but the problem was still occuring.
I then figured it must be the CPU or the mobo, so i upgraded my mobo from an ASRock H81 PRO BTC to and ASRock B85M Pro3, but still no fix.
I ran memtest86 to check my ram through 12 passes over 14 hours and there was no errors found.
I have disconnected the reset switch from my case to the mobo and tried a number of other things like updating drivers. The issue still persists when i remove my GPU, and I have monitored my CPU temperatures during gameplay and they rarely exceed 45 degrees Celsius. I have tried running from different powerpoints and on different powerboards to see if that was the issue. I have done a total reinstall of windows, only installing the necessary drivers and downloading 1 game (Fallout 4). I have tested with 1 stick of RAM removed at a time. I have stress tested the CPU with Prime95, and it handled the tests fine. None of these things have been conclusive and I'm not sure what step to take next. Please help!

Hi, was wondering if you might be able to help me.

When I play certain games (Tropico 3, Saints Row 2, Counterstrike) my computer restarts. At the beginning this was only happening occasionally and only after about 1/2 hours of play, but now it's happening pretty much as soon as I turn the games on.

All of the games run through Steam and I contacted them and they seem to have no answers.

I've never had this issue with any other games and I play much higher spec games than these, so I was unsure that it was my system. Have looked through the forums and have found people with the same problems and have done all of the things that seemed to have worked for them.

I have increased my GPU and CPU fan speed, I have changed the Startup and Recovery Settings and deselcted Automatically Restart and I have gone onto the DirectX Diagnostic Tool and enabled all of the DirectX features. None of these attempts worked.

Computer specs are:

Processor AMD Phenom(tm) II X3 720
Processor Memory (RAM) Kingston HyperX 4.00 GB
Graphics XFX ATI Radeon HD 4890
Gaming graphics 2431 MB
Primary hard disk 114GB Free (466GB Total)
Windows 7 Home Premium
System Manufacturer Gigabyte Technology Co., Ltd.
ModelGA-MA785GM-US2H
System type32-bit operating system

Any help would be appreciated!

I Recently bought parts to build a new PC with windows 7, it works perfectly and nothing goes wrong UNTIL i try and play Unreal Tournament 3, when after 30 seconds (max) of play time the computer will restart itself. I have tried using two different graphics cards and the result is the same (first used ATI Radeon HD 4850, now using Gigabyte Nvidia Geforce 9800 GT). And I have also tried two different RAM, a Corsair 2GB one i returned and now OCZ ReaperX (2x1GB). With the RAM i have tried using each individual stick by itself but there was no difference

Here are my current specs:
Motherboard: ASUS P5QC
Processor: Pentium(R) Dual-Core CPU E5400 @ 2.70GHz
RAM: OCZ ReaperX HPE DDR3 OCZERPX1333EB2GK
System: Windows 7 Home Premium 32-Bit
Graphics Card: Gigabyte Nvidia Geforce 9800 GT 512MB DDR3
Sound Card: PC Line 5.1 Channel Sound Card
Power Supply: 750 Watt

As far as I know all of my drivers are up to date (Graphics and sound for sure) and I do not overclock. I have DirectX 11 installed aswell.

My system temperatures are as follows: (Taken from SpeedFan analysis)
GPU: 42C
System: 33C
CPU: 20C
AUX: -48C
Core 0: 34C
Core 1: 31C

Thi is a big problem for me because I want to be able to play games but I'm really stuck on what could be causing the computer to restart as soon as i start playing games. Please help!

Well for some reason when i play games for about 5-10 mins i will get a restart, but using my awsum 1337 brain i knew to turn off the automatic shutdown so i would get a bsod.... yeah i get sum bsod but i forget what it is because...

ok i got this brand new system i built and decided hey i'ma get x64!! well x64 is horrible, but games still ran fine. after about 3 months or so i started getting the bsods, they would only start in games after playing for around 30 mins. Then it got worse and worse, eventually i could play games for like 2 mins and i couldn't even watch videos. i thought it was just x64 so i used linux and linux was fine... wanting to use windows stuff without having to do dificult stuff i get normal xp sp2. I install and get bsoded while installing. after about 3 tries i get it on. No shutdowns, well for about a month and now its started back up again... i hear it might be mobo problems but i want to know if anyone has any other ideas.

I tried removing memory but the computer won't boot without all 4 sticks in, it gets to the memory test at my startup and just freezes, i ran test on them though and they all pass.
Also my northbridge gets hot.. its not the cpu and not the videocared...

heres my system

1 gig of ram (256 x4)

Answer:Computer restarts or gets bsod while playing games

Hello! Welcome to TechSpot!

I think you are already on to it.
If the northbridge is getting hot and you are getting
BSOD video designated errors, then you can bet it's the
MoBo.
Before looking to RMA I would pop that heatsink of the north bridge
chip and get a fan/heatsink for it. See if this stops or slows down the BSOD's

In the Mainboard forums you can zip down 5 or 6 mini dumps and
attatch them to a post. The guys will diagnos them amd tell you what the BSOD cause is.

I ran memtest on each of the 2 remaining sticks of ram for 12(first one overnight) and 9 passes without finding errors.

I have ran the furmark test for over 20 minutes and my temps never ran higher than 83(which is about what the card is supposed to do)

However when I try to run Prime95 in any test with 8 threads is almost instantly crashes. I have not played around much with the thread number for the other tests, I just know it causes a restart without BSOD every time I try to run the 8 worker torture test.

I have also tried running OCCT tests. With the OCCT: CPU test in small data set a reset happens after about 2-3 minutes. Large data set doesn't run for more than 5 seconds before restart. And the OCCT: Linpack test has about the same results.

Without any dumps or logs, it's hard to tell but my first guess would be that you're running out of power. Your PS says it supplies 54A on the 12v rail. (I would venture to guess it's less.) PSs don't like to run at peek output for very long. Your video requires 30A, CPU about 15A, Motherboard about 7A. That's 52A right there. Then add all your fans, drives and additional hardware. But, as I said, this is a first guess.

Hi

Is the CPU overclocked at all, and if so set to normal, also check motherbord BIOS for any automatic overclocking (I know my ASUS does auto overclock).

Can you also reduce any overclock or auto setting on the GPU, just want to see if there is a strain somewhere, with running all cores of the CPU.

I also just wonder if your PSU is on the borderline as the spec for the EVGA GPU is a min 500w PSU, yours at 650 plus other hardware may take it close to max on a high power PC. Its just something I'd look into with a power requirement site or support like below, I used the ASUS calculator and used what you posted above not knowing how many modules of RAM you have to make 16GB but assumed 2 and added 2 USB devices for KB and Mouse only and recommended min was 650w

Some more info HERE

Hopefully some others will jump in on PSU requirements to see if my thoughts are sound.

I would also re-install motherboard drivers and check for BIOS updates to see if any of them address a issue like you are getting in instability, but these types of issues are hard to diagnose

Hi, this is kind of a new thing for me posting on forums like this but I really need help.

A few weeks ago now I was around my fiance's house and we decided to swap his old motherboard with the one inside my computer because it was better. Then we found out it didn't work so put my one back.

Since then I have had problems when I try to play games or look at pictures. When I play World of Warcraft it shuts off after two minutes and says I have a Fatal Exception Error. Then I try to play these games I downloaded from the internet and they either just completely crash or my computer restarts. This also happens when I am looking at pictures.
It has only done this a couple of times when I am not doing anything.

It is obviously something that is very frustrating and I am just wondering if it is a Windows thing or to do with me changing motherboards or whether that was just a coincidence. I put this post in the Windows XP support because I am not really sure what the problem is. Should I post in the Motherboard thread as well??

Can someone help please? I really have no clue about computers.

Hi Pandora,

Please only ask you question in one forum, its against the rules to start multiple threads about the same thing because it can cause confusion for the staff and those helping you.

I am going to close this thread but you thread in motherboards &bios is still open

When I first got my computer, it worked just fine, I played all my games such as Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 and WoW on the fullest settings without a problem. Then a few months later it began restarting after anywhere between 30 mins to 1hour+ of playing. I called the makers of my computer, we tried to see if it was overheating but it wasnt, I also tested the videocards, it wasnt that either. Then, out of nowhere it fixed itself for a few months, then out of nowhere it happened again. I restored my computer to an earlier time and it worked for a few days and now it's restarting again.

Could this be a Vista problem? I had a friend who said he had the same problem with his new comp but he upgraded to windows 7 and it has yet to restart... I have no idea, any sort of help would be much appreciated...

Thanks.

Hello!

For the past 4 months i have had an issue with my computer suddenly restarting during certain video games, without any bluescreen or anything, so no dump logs either. The past year i have gradually replaced my MB, CPU, GPU, ram and HDD, so the only thing that is older than 6 months is my PSU, a Chieftec Smart Series 550W(which ive had since november 2010). I first only replaced my GPU, without this issue occuring once. I then upgraded my CPU, RAM and MB at the same time, and this is when the problem started. Whenever i tried to play CS-go on max settings the comp would just restart after 5-15 mins of playing. The ram that i had got was faulty, and i got it replaced, but the problem was not gone after that. This issue also occurs ocasionally when i play world of warcraft, it might happend once during 2 weeks. Now i recently also installed GTA5 and the issue also appears to occur here, after 25-45 minutes of playing. With cs-go i managed to get rid of the issue by simply tuning down the graphic settings a little bit. I havent tried this with GTA5, as i dont want to play it with any lower settings. It might be worth mentioning that i can run CS-GO and world of warcraft simontaniously without the issue occuring, i have at least done it for hours and its never happend yet.

I have turned off automatic shutdown on failure in advanced windows settings.

After every the issue occurs and the computer restarts, i find 3 errors in the event log(sorted so that the first err... Read more

Answer:Computer suddenly restarts when playing video-games. No bluescreens.

I think it is the second error that matters...
Please, visit This thread.
Go to start menu>type services.msc> enter > scroll to find Windows Driver Foundation> double click> change start up type to automatic.
That should do it for the second error that might have caused the first error.

Hi, I've posted two threads asking about the issue that causes my computer to immediately restart after I try to play games such as Counter Strike Source or Fallout 3, the first recommendation was to get more ram, which I did, the second recommendation was to get a more powerful PSU, so I upgraded from a 450 W to a 610 W. Yet I'm still having the same problem, so I'm wondering if maybe my motherboard has an issue, or possibly the videocard I have is defective? My 9800 pro can at least run counter strike without restarting. Any help at all would be tremendously appreciated!

Heres all the info from the last thread I posted on this subject:

mike2020learnin replied to my last thread recommending I get some ram, so i got a stick of 1 gb ram, now I have 1.5 gigs total.

Answer:Computer Restarts when playing certain games...PART 3: Towering Inferno from Hell

Hi Hans Gruber,

Do you overclock your system at all?

Also, if you disable the automatic restart feature, you will get a blue screen stop error which will provide some more info on the problem. Instructions to do that can be found here:
http://en.kioskea.net/faq/sujet-829-...omatic-restart

Feel free to provide details about errors in your Event Log too as they may help.

Do you have any alerts of warnings in your Device Management console? To check:
- Click Start -> Run -> type:
devmgmt.msc
- Click OK
- This will launch the console. Click View -> Show hidden devices
- Have a look through the list for any exclamation marks and let us know if you find any

Finally, it would be a good idea to run a program such as SpeedFan which you can use to monitor system temperatures and voltages.

Hello. I've been having a problem with my computer during the last month, when i Watch a video(either on internet or in my pc), or try to play some games my computer sometimes restarts.
1)If it restarts:
- I either get a bsod saying device driver stuck in an infinite loop.
- Or I get some zebra pattern image on monitor (usually greenish color) and it restarts.
2) Sometimes it doesnt restart and i just get the zebra pattern image on my monitor for 1 sec and then the image is restored back to normal.

What can i do to fix?

I'm experiencing a problem on windows7. I installed Windows7 last 2 months and until now, I haven't seem to have had any problem. My problem is that, when I load a game (Ragnarok) or watch a movie in my computer, it restarts. and no, I do not get the BSoD. It ran fine until this week. The only notable thing I did on my computer this week is that I changed my antivirus program and installed a new one. I have tried using System Restore and I still have the same problem so I've eliminated that as my problem. I'm thinking maybe it's the video card? but hell, I was able to run the game or the movies for 2months, why would it crash now.. and Ragnarok is a pretty lowtech game..

MY PC specs:
AMD Athlon 64 X2 3600+
2GB RAM
ATI Radeon X1200 Series 128MB

All help will be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to SF

It can be driver issue? have you done any window update so far? If so, you might want to go to manufacture's website to download latest version of graphic driver, network, bios, sound cards etc..

Also, pleasr run system file check: start-->type cmd in search and run as administrator-->sfc /scannow (space between sfc and /)

Ever since i got it i have a nasty problem - when i try to play something (no matter what) in 90% of the cases the pc either the display freezes , the sound lags for 5 secs and then keeps going or i get a Blue Screen which shows an error in nvs4_disp.dll . Of course the first thing i did was to return the pc to the vendor but after 3 days he didnt find a thing ( mainly because he wasnt so enthusiastic about fixing somebody's pc...)... Please help my computer restarts all the time. Mainly when I start to play games also limewire and video sometimes.

I built the computer myself and had some problems installing the hard disk on the asus motherboard. Not sure if it’s right, I have had this problem from the start.
In Administrative Tools, event viewer, system I get this error

The device, \Device\Harddisk1\D, is not ready for access yet.

This is the only error I get.

Also in system information conflict/sharing my soundcard and ATI radeon are on the same irq port. Does this matter? And could that be the problem

i bought GTA San Andreas yesterday but only got a chance to install it this morning.it installed fine and the game opens ok and the menu system appears, but when i start a game, after about 10 seconds, the pc reboots itself! :(after hours of fiddling with installing and uninstalling and trying some naughty no-dvd patches, it still does it, whether the dvd is in or not.i tried some other games - Mafia and Vice City, and they both caused the pc to reboot.my pc has been on for a few days now as i've been doing some rendereing overnight. my spec is - 3.06Ghz processor. 1BG ram. Radeon Sapphire 9800 Pro. and i have at least 40GB space free.the graphics card feels really quite warm at the moment, so i wondered whether that could be it?i've only 9800 about 6 weeks. surely it isnt broken? :Scheers, tom

I have had this issue for a few months, basically, when playing certain games (Rainbow Six Siege, Counter Strike: Global Offensive), my PC will restart by itself after about 10-15 minutes gameplay. I don't understand why. My PC is around 4 years old but it works fine. I got it fixed after a fan and motherboard issue 6 months ago, I did get the fan upgraded, and my temperatures look fine (Max 46 Celsius, Average 31 Celsius). I dont have the issue when browsing or playing other games such
as Minecraft.

Specs that I know of:

Seagate Barracuda ST2000dm001
AMD FX8320 8 Core
AMD R9 270x
Gigabyte GA-78LMT-USB3 6.0
8.00GB Installed Memory (RAM)

Can someone please help with a recent problem I've encountered with my PC?Since up-grading my graphics card to a Gainward 7800GS+ (AGP) I've been having problems, everytime I play a game such as Doom3, Far Cry, and Thief, the system either freezes or restarts (Normally just as you start to play the game after the opening options) . If it restarts a message often appears "Windows has recovered from a serious error" The strange thing is that it doesn't do the same thing when playing Flight SimulatorX (Which I believe is more demending on the GPU?)I've installed the latest drivers, checked that the temps are all ok (which they are), and still the problem occurs! However, if I put my old graphics card in they all work fine (Geforce FX5950 Ultra)????I've already replaced the 7800GS+ once thinking it was faulty, now I'm wonering if it's the PSU?My System Specs are:AMD 64 3000+AS Rock K8S8X motherboard1536MB DDR400 RAM400w PSU (Non Branded)2 x ATA Hard Drives1 x DVD ROM1 x DVD Rewriter

Hello,

I am having a problem here. I can stay on the computer for hours and hours and hours without any kinds of problems, whether it be downloading, browsing the net.

The problem happens when I begin to play any game. I play it for a few minutes and then the PC automatically restarts itself. I have never had this kind of problem in the past.

I have a Intel Pentium 4 2.66 Ghz, Corsair 2GB RAM with the builtin cooling casing, 2 HDD's mounted in the same slot with a fan blowing in right through them (HDD's never get hot they are always cool to the touch even after 24hrs of being on, BFG GeForce 6800 GT OC, no brand name power supply thats been on for about 1 year which is 650 watts, 5 case fans, and I'm also running XP Pro.

I have checked my CPU and Graphics temperatures and they are running normal. The CPU is running at around 35-38 Celsius at Idle while the graphics card is running at 67-72 Celsius at idle.

I also have uninstalled and installed the Nvidia driver, current one. Also looked in the BIOS and everything is looking good in there.

I am not sure what is causing this problem, if anybody has some suggestions I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks,

Hiranmanu

Answer:PC Restarts when playing games

Have you checked your PSU rails? Either in the BIOS or using Speed Fan.

With the numerous unistalls and reinstall of drivers and such, I would recommend that you use CCleaner to remove any incorrect registry files. Some more ideas are to run an anti virus, and spyware cleaner and make sure it not that which is causing your reboots. Have you looked for any recent motherboard drivers? Drivers for the chipsets and any on board devices that you are use?

Hopefully something helps.

Greetings! My first post here, hope you guys can help.

The problem accrued when i bought new stuff for my PC, this being the powersupply (cooler master extreme power 430w) GPU (8800 GTS 620MB DDR3) and two new units of RAM (kingmax 2,00 GB DDR2).

Now here is the punch line - the pc restarts when i play SOME games. Example - I can play Crysis ( a beast of a demanding game) with no problem, or Gears of War with no problem, but playing neverwinter nights 2 or STALKER causes the pc to restart after 30 seconds of play. I tried downgrading GPU drivers, installed drivers for my chipset, still nothing worked.

Really weird problem. So. Please help.

Answer:PC restarts when playing SOME games

The Coolermaster RS-430 is rated 430 watts PEAK, 400 watts CONTINUOUS. I suspect it is marginal with an 8800 GTS, depending on what else is in your PC. What CPU do you have?

Answer:When Playing Games It Always Restarts.

Have you tried scanning your disk for problems (corruption)?
You can do that with the default Windows Checkdisk, but be sure to do a surface scan too.

Have you tried checking your PC with an AV software? (NOD32 is excellent if you already dont have AV installed)

It's very weird that the whole game becomes deleted...

Well my problem is this, my computer restarts with blue screen but only when its idle NEVER HAPPENED WHEN PLAYING GAMES OR INTERNET etc. I am at a loss please help

Answer:PC restarts randomly but not when playing games

Check for spyware, trojans, virues an etc.. using spyware terminator (free)
If that find stuff and removes it..
And you still have the blue screen you can check your RAM for errors..
But you might suffer from what I call profile corrupt. Which is an easy fix.
Login into the safemode and delete your user name profile but you have to try to copy your document and settings for that user name other wise you'll loose all your favorites, desktop icons, history, cookies. Programs you install are still intact. Then when you login again Windows will re-create your profile with a working version.

Hey everyone,

I have been gaming a while on this PC and have found that it just restarts with some games. The restarts are not consistent in any form really. The most recent ones have occured with dawn of war II: chaos rising, I played the game for 4 hours the first night and nothing happened. The next day I got to this particular stage and restarts every time. I have also had restarts occur with left 4 dead 2 (after over an hour of play) and once with battlefield bad company 2 (after a very long time of play).

I suspect something is overheating (or thinks it is) but do not know how to test for it. It does not occur with all game, only seem. It seems to be random what games those are. My computer also has alot of fans so I find it hard to believe it is actually overheating (they all work, I checked).

My setup is:
Sapphire Radeon HD 4850 x2 crossfired
Gigabyte GA-EX58-UD5 mobo
Corsair Dominator 3 x 2GB DDR3 1600 memory
core i7 2.666ghz
850 w corsair psu

any ideas, or tests I could do would be great. I am clueless about what to do.

Right, I have a Windows XP SP2 with Intel Pentium 4 (3.06GHz), 512mb RAM, nVidia Geforce FX5200 (128mb) graphics card and a 19" HP w1907s monitor.

Ive never had this problem ever before. Recently I was bored and decided to play Fable for like the 5th time over and for some reason after about 20 minutes of playing the whole computer just froze and wouldn't let me do anything, so I have to cut the power.

This happens every time I launch Fable and also exactly the same thing happened when I tried to play Star Wars Kotor2.

Any ideas guys?
Thanks

I can play games such as football manager, counter strike source, wow fine and to some extent swtor.
I feel certain that it is the gfx card that is faulty, I have tried running;

Memtest 7 passes: 0 errors
Prime 95 for 1 hour: 0 errors

but then I tried Furmark, after around 40 sec my gfx card temp was at 62 degrees and it restarted my pc. I looked at the fan and it is running, i used compressed air to clean it so that should not be a problem.

I meet the minimum requirements for both games, and h1z1 allows me to play for a while on low settings no frame issues. It happens in game sometimes but most of the time it happens at the main menu. For battlegrounds I have not even been able to get past the main menu it shuts off when loading to main menu.

It happens when I play games. I ran one 3DMark test with no issues. Ran it again and it reset as it normally does. I ran Furmark with no issues.

Stumped!

Answer:Random Restarts when playing games. Kernel errors (41).

Just had the same thing happen to me. No errors, or anything that would be suspicious.
The Kernel error 41 is just an error that says the computer was shut down with being powered off properly. You'll get the same error if you hold down the power button to shut off the machine instead of shutting it down through windows.

Anyone else have any ideas?

I've got a custom built PC and after a processor and video card upgrade it now freezes and restarts when playing games like Battlefield 1 and GTA5.

Here are my specs:

RAM: 16,0GB Dual-Channel DDR3 @ 666MHz

GPU: Sapphire ATI Radeon RX 480 Nitro+ 8GB
SSD: Samsung 850 EVO 250GB
PSU: Corsair CX750

I can play the games for a half an hour to a few hours and then it may freeze and restart. I don't get any blue screen, it goes black/dark greyish, the sound just gets stuck and after a few seconds the PC restarts itself.

I attached the DMP files. There are three of them from diferent dates.

One more thing; I forgot to uninstall the video card drivers after I installed the new card into my PC. I then booted the PC, and uninstalled the then 'old' drivers. I installed the drivers for the new card after that, but it didn't succeed. So I used the AMD 'clean uninstall utility' to remove all the old drivers. It said it succeeded, so I installed the new drivers without error. I'm still worried there might be some traces of old video card drivers left, but am unsure how to clean it up.

Thanks, regards, R

Hello first off I wanna say thanks to everyone who'll spend their time in helping me with this annoying problem.

The story goes as follow I've had this problem for ages (probably even since I had my PC) ,some times less some times more.It was happening under Windows Vista (32bit) and Windows 7 (32 bit).Currently I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate 32bit.

Most of the time it happens when I'm playing a game (ex: Team Fortress 2 ,Portal 2 ,Starcraft 2 ,League Of Legends) ,rarely my PC freezes when I watch x264 movie files ,but not any more I think.

What happens is my PC either freezes or randomly restarts or I get a BSOD one of the 3.

Some days I play all day without a single crash ,but some days it crashes every 15 minutes ,then stops ...and then happens again.

I've tried to update my video/sound drives and change them countless times ,it has helped to some point ,but the problem has been very consistent.

Hi this problem has nearly ruined me and cost a fortune so far, first I'll explain the problem about 6 months ago I had a PSU blow out on me, so I replaced it and all was well for a time when the PC would shut down and then restart without even showing a BSOD, at first it was now and then but gradually got worse. At first I thought it might of been the CPU overheating, I also thought that when the PSU blew it caused damage to the MB. So over a period of time I have ended up replacing all the hardware. For a time it seemed okay but the problem soon returned. (just to note it only shuts down when playing or starting games, I can surf the net or play videos etc without a problem).

My next thought was that it was a software conflict so I have ended up rebuilding a second PC, with a new HDD just incase it was a virus etc, I've loaded Windows 7 (home) 32bit, installed the graphics card (GeForce 560 Ti) with latest Nvidia drivers and a Asus sound card. I then installed Minecraft just as a test game and sure enough it crashes.

So I have eliminated the possibility of it being a hardware problem or a software conflict. I then thought it may of been the graphic card drivers so I uninstalled the latest driver and installed a older driver, but the problem remaines.

Whilst trying to check detals of my system, I noticed that the "Windows Experiance Index" score was only 1.0 whereas in the past it's always around 5.something, it shows gaming as 1.0 and Gaming Graphics as 1.0,... Read more

I see you have Installed Physical Memory (RAM) 8.00 GB but you have Windows 7 32 bit installed. With windows 32 bit you will be limited to use only 3.25 GB out of 8.00 GB. Any particular reasons for not using the 64 bit of windows?

From the one dump in your zip files shows you are getting
STOP 0x0000000A: IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL BSOD Index
Their usual causes for this bug check are: Kernel mode driver, System Service, BIOS, Windows, Virus scanner, Backup tool, compatibility

From the installed programs in your msinfo32 I see no antivirus installed. Please let us know what antivirus are you using?

Answer the questions above and then we'll see the further troubleshooting that can be done with your computer.

I've been having this issue for nearly a year now (probably around 9 months). It started after my little sister made me get a virus by her trying to download something onto my laptop. I've since taken it to a reputable computer shop as well as followed instructions from other computer wizs and I think it's no longer there. Issue is, my computer has kind of developed another problem after that. It freezes on it's own sometimes, when I pick it up or even when it's on a desk and immobile. It would also freeze when I play a game sometimes, loud buzzing sound as the game continues in loops I believe. I had BSOD problems earlier this year that was solved (Apparently. I haven't gotten any in about 4-5 months) when I had Windows 7 but this issue still persists.

When it would freeze and I manually turn off my computer and turn it back on, the laptop would sometimes say no wifi could be detected. At all. Not mine, not my neighbors, nothing. I've never really taken it out of the house so I don't know if it'd act the same elsewhere. I would then shut it down and take out the battery for 30 seconds before putting it back in. Sometimes the wifi would work then or I'd go connect it to my Internet Modem and the wifi would start working over there too.

So I'm not sure what's causing this problem. It's not overheating as I had it cleaned less than 4 months ago by a professional. I've had this laptop for two years and I really wanted it to last me at least 4 because I'll be going into an ani... Read more

I need help.
I have an uncle who lets me use his comp. for almost a year now.
We tackled all sorts of problems before but recently thing are very...odd.
I play Age of Empires II,III,Axis & Allies, and a Company of Heroes demo.
I could play them for hours with the graphics on low.
Anyway...About a month or two ago we got a new video card.
After installation I played Age II-good.
Then Age III on high settings-great!
But when i tried Company of Heroes and Axis & Allies they both played well without lag, etc.
But after 10 min my Gateway monitor goes blank screen but I can still hear the sound from the fighting or music. So I go back and play Age III and after 2 hours it does it too!!
I know the computer has surpassed the requirements for all the games.
I don't think it's any programs or virus's because we wiped the comp clean before installation and one time before all this I played Age III with 30 programs on and it never restarted.
I don't know what could be causing this.
I'll post the specs later for better analysis.
This is really bothering me ... I haven't played any games because of it .

Answer:Computer restarts after games

The comp has a little screen that always has the temp. for something. Is that it?

I'm still working on the specs...this comp is so confusing.
One thing I learned is that when the MHz are at 200 AGP in the BIOS the internet works and AOE III works. When I put it on 150 AGP Axis & Allies and Company of Heroes works but the internet doesn't work.

Okay I downloaded a driver catalyst for my Radeon X1350 video card and it helped AOE III (I play a long game and it hasn't gone blank screen) but playing the other games still goes wrong.
All and all I don't feel any closer to the answer....

Oh!!! I mean Radeon X1650. (If you've been reading up to this point you can tell I have no idea what I'm doing.)

While im playing games my computer restarts randomly. It wont give me a blue screen or anything that is telling me what the error is and it only happens if i am playing games. I have updated the drivers and installed direct x but the same problem keeps reoccurring.

Answer:Computer Restarts During Games

it could be overheating - do you have any temp software on the PC
or when it reboots - look at the bios and see what the temp is there

it may be looking at the eveny viewer and see if that helps

So I recently bought a DVD drive for my computer, worked perfectly fine untill a while ago, and now when it reads the dvd its very lagged and the sound comes in crackly. I'll try to play the DVD with a different player, and instead my computer shuts down and restarts. I tried different video files, and most .avi's started doing this to me. I went into my system settings and told it to not automatically restart and I tried again, getting the following error:

PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA

0x00000050 ( 0xFFFFFFG8, 0x00000001, 0x804E9D8E, 0x000000000 )

Of course this means nothing to me, but hopefully you can point me in the right direction. Im thinking that im missing some video codec, but which one completely eludes me. Thanks in advance.

Andre

Thank you everyone  Make sure your computer is well ventilated, by checking if the fans are running, also make sure that you have cleaned all the dust out. Download Hw Monitor and see if the temperatures are too high. But the most pressing issue is to check ur CPU heatsink.

Whenever i start call of duty 2 the computer would run the game for about 45 seconds then restart. Sometimes it would produce a white then black screen after 30seconds with multicoloured strips.

My system specs are as followed

P4 2.4ghz
256mb ram
9700pro 128mb
cd
dvd
40gb

The psu is 200w, i know this is low so i took out my dvd and cd. It still gave me the same problem.

I have tried different drivers etc.

Im wondering if its the psu or not? If its not what else could i try?

Im going to try a 350w next week i was just wondering what i could try in the meantime?

Thanks
moka

Answer:Computer restarts when playing game.

I think you`ve probably hit the nail on the head, with your underpowered or maybe a failing psu. If your current psu is a cheap no name brand, then I think it`s probably even more of a suspect.

I have a emachines XP 2000, 512MB, and 160 GB. I only have 5 programs, which are very safe, and contain no viruses, or spywares at all. And i have
a 1 sega game, that i downloaded. It takes up not much space at all, and its 2D. I don't play other games, expect that one. So why does my computer restart when im playing a 2D sega game on a 512MB computer? I have an old crappy HP, with 64MB, but the game works perfectly fine and never restarts on that computer. Would someone help please?

Answer:My computer restarts when im playing a 2D game

Hi Fezzaga and welcome to TSf !

A game, even an old 2D games, will probably be more cpu and power intensive than most office apps. Which game is it ?

First guesses would be cpu or gpu overheating or unsufficient PSU. Remove the side panel of your case and give us the informations you'll find on the sticker that's on the side of the PSU block : brand, model, total wattage and amperage on each rail.

Check that all the fans spin when you turn the computer on. If there's much dust then unplug the power cord and clean it using a can of compressed air.

Post your complete system specs (see the link in my sig), especially the informations about your video card. You could also give us the model number of your emachine and the system specs will be on the manufacturer's website, but we need the info about the PSU since that's often not on the website.

Enter the bios at statup by repeatedly pressing the del key. Search for some hardware monitor screen and tell us about the cpu temp, fan speed and +3.3, +5 and +12v voltages you see there.

Okay, about one hour ago my computer started restarting every time I played a video on my E: (it's a secondary hard drive)

I forced the computer to show a BSOD: Stop: 0x0000007f (0x0000000D)

I have not added any new hardware for more then a year, no updates have been done except for Avast Anti-virus early this morning. Windows update has been disabled but I have XP Home SP3. This is the first time I've had this error, strangely before this error I've been playing Videos most of the day.

I have the following errors in my Event log:

Event ID - 7001

The Remote Access Connection Manager service depends on the Telephony service which failed to start because of the following error:
The service cannot be started, either because it is disabled or because it has no enabled devices associated with it.

And:

Event ID - 4126

And:

Event ID -4126

4 inconsistencies were detected in PropertyStore during recovery of catalog e:\system volume information\catalog.wci.

I'll be running my AV, Memtest and chkdisk in the meantime and see if they find anything wrong.

Welcome to TechSpot

Download and install the following 4 programs, each in their own permanent directory:
Spybot S&D http://www.safer-networking.org , let it "immunise" your PC, takes only a few seconds.
Adaware Personal SE http://www.lavasoftusa.com
HijackThis http://www.tomcoyote.org/hjt/
CWshredder http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/downloads.html

Before running any of the above, always make sure you have the latest program-versions,
and do an online-update in Adaware and Spybot for the latest definitions.

Reboot in Safe Mode (press F8 a few times upon booting).
If you have "BeginToSearch" etc. run CWShredder first and let it fix whatever it can.
If not, run Adaware, then Spybot. Let them each fix whatever they can.
Then reboot again in Safe Mode.

Now run Hijackthis with NO other programs open, but DON'T let it do anything yet.
Make sure you have read TomCoyote's instructions on HJT !!
Copy and paste the proper HJT report here in this thread. We may be able to help you further.

Also, your Windows XP is hopelessly outdated. You will need to install ServicePack 1 at least.
Then Let Windows do all its automatic updates.

I have a problem i noticed i have for about 3-4 days
My computer restarts every some minutes when im browsing in Mozilla Firefox(but not in Internet explorer)
And when i try to play in BFBC2 , my computer restarts before i even manage to get into a server
Or , when i try to play Red Faction Armageddon in directx 10/11 mode, it instantly reboots the computer, but not in directx 9 mode

I don't think this is a dust/heat problem, because i checked in GPU-Z and Speedfan the temperatures and they are normal, i cleaned the computer before some weeks and the fans are ok

I tried formating C: and reinstalling windows 7, installed ATI driver, and did a full windows update, and i still have the problem

Is Windows 7 . . .
- x86 (32-bit) or x64 ? 64 bit
- the original installed OS on the system? computer came without an OS, but this is the main/only OS installed now
- an OEM or full retail version? Retail
- OEM = came pre-installed on system
- Full Retail = you purchased it from retailer

- What is the age of system (hardware)? About 3 years i think, i have a second 2gb ram stick i bought some months ago
- What is the age of OS installation (have you re-installed the OS?) 1 day, reinstalled OS today and i still have the problem

CPU is Intel Core2 Duo E8400 @ 3.0 GHz
Graphics card is Radeon HD 4850

Have you run memtest86 on this to make sure its not a ram stick causing a crash. Also look in the windows event log to see if it says what it thinks the condition is. It might just state unexpected power failure, but maybe there is something helpful there.

When ever I play these games my computer restarts and a list of those that work.

Now before I give the list I want to say, it will start up the game, the menu, and right when the game is done loading and ready for me to take over the character, BAM it goes to a black screen for a second and restarts.

Don't Work:
Battlefield Heroes
Half-Life 2
Fable: The Lost Chapters
Lord of the Rings: Battle for Middle Earth 2

Work:
The Sims 2
Counter Strike Source
Garry's Mod
Team Fortress 2
Day of Defeat Source
Half Life 2 Deathmatch
Portal
Runes of Magic
Lord of the Rings Online
A lot more games this is just to show how well my computer works

Now first off I did update everything, Lord of the Rings and Fable worked before now, but I got a virus and did a full hard-drive restore. Also I want to say most of the games I have are on very high settings, so I know my computer can run these games well. I got these codes when the games restart after I followed what other people told me and unchecked automatic restart. So please tell me what to do.

Hi and welcome to TSG.

We can't offer much advice without knowing a lot more about your machine.

If it is a big brand box (ie. HP, Dell etc) then what make and model is it?
If its a self build then tell us make and model for Motherboard, RAM, CPU, Power Supply, Graphics cards, Sound card, hard drives, DVD/CD drives etc. The more info you can give the better diagnosis people can make.

First of all, thanks in advance for any responses to this post. I?ve already researched this issue as best I could myself and have tried a few possible solutions with no luck. I?ll try to be very specific in describing my exact scenario as well as what I?ve already tried.

My computer restarts when loading newer games for example COD4, UT2k4 or L4D. It does not restart when loading older games for example Warcraft3:TFT, Diablo2 or AVP2. Everything seems to operate normally besides the restarts although the Windows startup loading screen may be slower. I couldn?t say for sure.

Hello,
lately i have had some trouble with my computer when I'm playing games. Ill start playing for a few secs and then my pc will turn off... well sorta. My monitor goes black and the computer is still running. the only thing i can do in this situation is give it a restart, and when i do give it a restart it makes 4 beeps instead of 1. Any help is greatly appreciated as this is becoming quite an annoyance

So I'm trying to play Civ 4 and whenever I try to load a saved game, it gets done loading, then completely exits out of the game and leaves the screen at a smaller resolution. This also happens sometimes when I try to start a custom game and sometimes it restarts my computer. It also exits out of the game lately as I'm an hour into the game. When it's waiting for the AI to move, it will exit out of it. This has only recently started happening; when I first installed the game a few weeks ago, it worked fine and I could load saved games.
