DiRT - Load process complete. Load aborted, read error

Question: DiRT - Load process complete. Load aborted, read error

When I start the game "DiRT", press enter, the message like that, saying, that load profile is aborted, appears. Why? What I did wrong? Is this a bug in the game? I dont want to create a new profile. I wanna go on, but I can't because of this stupid issue.

Im running windows XP SP2. 2.33 GHz / 1,98 GB of RAM / NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTS

I have a patch 1.2 installed to my DiRT.

Hope somebody will answer.

Preferred Solution: DiRT - Load process complete. Load aborted, read error

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I stupidly aborted an Acronis restore, now windows will not load. The screen stays in DOS and askes for a boot floppy. I have tried booting with the Acronis disc but this does not show my USB drive in options.Windows repair has also failed with an error message of invalid drive path.Is a clean install my only option and, will I be able to reload Acronis and access my images afterwards. Many thanks

Answer:Aborted Acronis restore XP won't load

If you have Acronis CD you should be able to boot with that, then restore the Image you aborted. If the Image is on a CD you will have to change the CD's over after Acronis As loaded into Memory. That's why I only run Acronis from a Rescue CD that I created in Acronis I then boot with the CD and restore ether from another Partition or USB external Drive. Do's the above give you any Ideas?

This is driving me crazy. In IE when I go to some sites the site pulls up and then I get this error message that states:

"Internet Explorer cannot open the Internet site "the site goes here"

Operation Aborted"

I can go back an keep refreshing the site and it will load with no problem, but it is very frustrating. I am also having an issue with my hompage changing for no reason. I have ran the hijack this, and here are the results.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

I have a fuji s700 camera and it worked fine on XP, but when i try to download my pics onto my new computer with Windows7 I get the message"I/O error. process aborted" I've tried to download an update from finepix but it keeps telling me that I have to install the original finepix program, which I have tried. I'm getting frustrated.

Answer:'I/O error Process aborted"

If the pics are on a media card inside the camera, buy a Card Reader which has a slot for that type of card. Plug it into a usb port - the driver for the card reader will be supplied by Windows.

Now take the card out of your camera and push it carefully into the appropriate slot. A window should open containing a folder. Inside this folder are your pictures. Just use copy & paste to copy them to a folder on your computer's hard drive.

That's much easier than the hassle of using camera software and having to connect the camera to the PC.

Whenever I load the game Grand Chase, 5 minutes later I get the generic host process for win32 error, and then after that I get windows explorer is not responding and I lose all my icons, making me restart my computer. I also notice I have no sound after the error. Every other game i play (Warcraft, Lunia, Gunbound, Starcraft, Flyff, etc.) they all work fine no generic host process whatsoever. I really want to fix this, because my sister loves playing Grand Chase but now she can't because of the damn error. If I need to I will post a Hijack this log. thank you! Oh and if this helps, I recently installed windows xp sp2 and reinstalled all drivers for my keyboard, mouse, and speakers.

Our users have IE 7 and 8. We keep them locked into place by pointing IE to our firewall product (tools > internet options > connections > lan settings), so that only approved sites are the ones that our people can access. In the last few days, several of them report issues with specific websites loading very slowly - load times of over an hour just to get the log-in screen to appear.Troubleshooting Steps:1.) Unchecked the "use proxy server for your LAN" under the IE menus---> Site resolves instantly, as it should---> This pointed me to the direction that perhaps the site wasn't configured for our firewall2.) Re-checked the "use proxy server" box, and specifically configured the site in our firewall---> Site continues to resolve slowly, with the same load times as before performing step 1That would normally indicate that the problem is on the vendor's end. Something may be wrong with their site. And that's the line of thought I was pursuing until I was reported back to that the users are having the same problem on other websites. These new websites they're having problems with are, and have been for a long time, configured properly in the firewall.I'm not sure what my next step is to pursue. What am I looking for now? I don't know enough about networking to figure out where to track next.

Answer:Users are unable to load websites - no error, just 1-hour+ load times for pages

I have a NB100 And when it trys to boot i get Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt: System32\Drivers\Ntfs.sys

I have connected a DVD drive with the product recovery disc GMR400882EN0 inside it and powered on, on booting i keep F12 pressed and I get the options for setting it to boot from HD FDD CD/DVD USB Memory, I set it to boot from CD/DVD

When it loads it gets to loading RAM image I get Error 32768 File PEBASE ISO Could Not Load.

I am suspecting faulty recovery disc? and a new one is £29.99? But the laptop is under warranty but they told me to do this.

My daughter has a Asus 904HD and once she had a problem... She had none of the poor support of go and do it yourself... Asus sent a courier very fast-confirmed pick by text-fixed-delivered back confirmed drop off by text within 5 days!!

Answer:NB100 Recovery Disc wont load - Error 32768 File PEBASE could not load

>I am suspecting faulty recovery disc? and a new one is £29.99? But the laptop is under warranty but they told me to do this.

I doubt it?s a faulty recovery disk.
The error message: missing or corrupt: System32\Drivers\Ntfs.sys could be caused by faulty HDD or another hardware component.
In your case I recommend contacting the Toshiba ASP for hardware check and new OS installation. The notebook is under warranty (as you suggested in the posting above) and therefore everything should be done for free because it?s covered by warranty

On my HP laptop, the "Complete" sound plays after a CD burn, import or app update is complete. The "Page Load Complete" sound plays after download of an app and at various other time I can't recall off the top of my head. Some people find these sounds annoying and disable them. I, however, like them as they let me know what's going on when I'm away from the computer.

On iTunes on my Maingear desktop, these sounds do not play at the prescribed times. In fact, the only time they play at all is if I go to System Sounds, select them and press the "Test" button. They are selected and are pointed to the correct file location but, they do not play in iTunes when they are supposed to.

Any ideas?

ok this is gonna be a bit long but i want the details there. the issue pc is my old pc. it has windows 7 its an asus msn-la motherboard i cloned this drive and used it in my new pc. after a few months my new pc's drive died and i took the old drive from the issue pc(witch was not giving issues at this time) and stuck it into my new pc until my replacement drive came. when i got the replacement drive i cloned the drive again onto the replacement drive and then put the new drive in the new pc had no issues there. put the old drive back into the issue pc (this is when issues started) the pc booted up to the windows desktop loading screen fast but once it got there it sat there for like 5 min before loading into windows. once it loaded into windows it was un usable for around 10 min while it loaded background stuff. once it finally loads into windows if i try to open anything its still responding extremely slow. is there anything i could do to fix this or is this going to me a re install only situation? i did try to use a windows 7 disk to do a startup repair but it claimed i couldn't do it because i dident install from that disk.

Hp laptop running WinXP w/SP2 stops loading at background screen. CTL-ALT-DEL works and seem to be able to run almost anything except explorer. When I browse to it, system says 'Windows cannot find "C:\windows\explorer.exe" '. Iexplorer works just fine, as does regedit, games, etc.

I even tried to use another copy of explorer on a USB stick and got the same error, even though other programs on the stick would work just fine, programs such as SIW.

I've run chkdsk /f and sfc / scannow to try and verify integrity of the system and both completed fine. I've run eventvwr and do not see any problems there.

I'm pretty well stumped and looking for some advice.

Thanks and Brgds

I am looking for some major help because i have came to many dead ends, a week or so ago i downloaded a program that i probably shouldn't have. It gave me a virus where my browser would randomly switch to different site or open new tabs going to a different site! so i thought i could fix it myself beings i had a similar redirect virus previsouly. So i followed these instructions: and it worked so now my computer doesn't do any redirecting. Only a couple problems now exist. I can't not download anything. The downloads gets to 1 sec left and it don't go anymore for a very long time, sometimes it does complete so i try running it and it gives me a "side by side" error (which i looked in my event viewer and it says "invalid xml syntax") but thats not the only problem. Now i can only view flash videos at random and most of the time i have to refresh them to get them to work (sometimes they don't load, or are a black screen or a green scree w/audio) I have reinstalled flash, updated everything and its getting very frustrating. I use firefox (also do work in IE) Please help.

I'm running WindowsXP home on a 2-year old Gateway.
I don't know if all of this is related, so please bear with me. I picked up a trojan (possible at Facebook or YouTube). McAfee blocked it but wouldn't get rid of it. At the same time, I lost my framedyn.dll file - gone totally. After hours of trying to scrub files on my own, I called Gateway *sigh*.
After an hour of remote assistance, the computer was cleaned using ComboFix. This was all at my expense since the warranty had expired.

But the dll cache was corrupted. I culdn't do a restore because of it.
I was told to do a backup and then a complete system recovery.

Ok, all that's done.

But... when I try to use the Backup and Restore Wizard, all it wants to open is "a removeable storage device". My backup file is on C: drive. I don't see the *.bkf extension, just a file name which says "my backup 12-7-2008". All my files are THERE, I can SEE them, I can OPEN the document files, for example.

But all the upgrades, patches, favorites, new software, etc. are not running on the computer now.

Does this make sense?

How do I get the backup to load?

Thank you for any help. I've read Microsoft help pages till I want to get a hammer out and start bashing things.

Answer:XP Recovery complete, backup won't load

Unfortunately to get your system back to what it was you will have to reinstall them all, the backup was probably a complete backup of your system but it would have backed up the problem as well, so you cant restore the backup to use. The backup you did was basically to save all you data (word docs, pictures music etc) not windows, and the system recovery removed windows and installed a new one. All you can do is copy out of the backup the data you need and reinstall the missing applications.

Here are some commonly wanted locations after a reinstall

Hi all.

Over the last couple of days I have been experiencing issues with my computer. It started with a BSOD which led to the computer being unable to load and stuck at "loading windows". I then proceeded to try and do a system restore with no luck, so I thought to myself that I better format and reinstall the whole thing - and so I did. However as soon as I needed to restart after installing nothing but things from windows update and an nvidia driver for my GPU - same problem again, windows won't load.

I tried disabling everything else than windows from starting up (only nvidia drivers) - but with no luck. I then proceeded to try my regular harddrive, but same issue. Flying blind into troubleshooting I managed to get the BSOD info from BlueScreenView, and a ntbtlog:

Please adviseUsing MS BootVis I have analyzed my boot. It takes 141 seconds for my X61 to boot. Everything including video but not shell is loaded within 20 seconds. Then there is a a 110 second period of periodic small disk and CPU activities with two large disk and CPU blocks within. At about 132 seconds the shell starts to load, the shell load is completed at 141 seconds and then the processes start to load. The process loads take another 100 seconds. My major concern is the 140 second boot. This is a relatively new phenomena but I can not point to any particular action that lead to this boot performance catastrophe.I run MS OneCare with regular virus scans. I have run CCleaner to remove all temp files and clean up the registry. I have reviewed processes and services being loaded and removed those that I as an amateur thought could be removed. Please note that for business reasons my entire hard drive is encrypted using True Crypt and I also run a Checkpoint VPN service. I have been using these for some time prior to the boot problem.

I did a re-install of Windows, and since then, my G-mail Notifier tries to check my e-mail before my Wifi connection is established- resulting in an error. Then about 15 seconds later, it will finally connect, and then I can select to have it re-check for an Internet Connection. It's a small, but annoying, boot-up annoyance. My browser also starts in offline mode. What's more is, the wireless network notification in the tray doesn't even appear while I'm waiting, to even say it's disconnected, it just looks as if I have no wireless adapter at all for those 15 seconds. Considering 15 seconds is how long it takes my PC to boot to desktop, it's like I'm waiting twice as long for my PC to be internet usable. Is there a way I can advance the priority during start up for loading the wireless adapter driver? My laptop with Vista Premium Edition was shutdown using the tab, that allowed for it to do updates. Apparently the updates didn't finish as it is saying 3 of 3 0% and will not reload to windows. If I turn it off, and restart, it will not load to windows. It just keeps going thru the start up process to the updating screen and then the same again. I tried loading in safe mode. No luck. I tried last good configuration, same thing. What can I do? I cannot find my vista cd. Is there anyway to get a copy of the cd with the product code? Maybe then i can just restore to a few days ago? When I boot up, the C: drive stays lit for a long time. It is still loading my "process's" in the task manager.
I see that all my AVG files are usually the last to load, and I think this is the reason my boot up is not

Does anyone have any ideas on what to do? I tried bootvis, that didn't help either. I've only got one

Hi there, I am running an HP Compaq, with an AMD Sempron Processor, 3200+ 1.79GHz with 1.93 GB of RAM. I have Windows XP Home Edition Version 2002 Service Pack 3, with all windows updates up-to-date.

If this is considered more than one problem and needs to be broken up into several posts to ensure I get assistance, then please let me know and I will gladly break it up for you, but I do feel that all of these problems are interconnected.

To be completely honest I ended up at these forums simply because my computer was just acting a little funny, always protected by Avanquest's System Suite, so it is in good working order as well, at least as good as it can be for such an old machine By the time I decided to type this up I had just installed an upgrade to System Suite 12 and suddenly my internet connection decided it didn't want to act right. At first I thought it was my adblock or noscript addons that I use in Firefox that were causing sudden unusual issues with the pages loading, but then in a moment of crazy, I turned them off and I still can't get a simple Google homepage to load. On my Toshiba laptop, Firefox (3.5.5) will stop loading new sites. I am able to access a few sites by hitting the back and forward buttons, but nothing past ~5 either way. Any kind of attempt to load something new (a streaming music app like Pandora) will not work. I can exit Firefox but cannot end the process (firefox.exe). The only way to restart Firefox is to restart the computer. I've reinstalled Firefox and started from scratch, but it hasn't worked.

Any suggestions?

Answer:Firefox locks up, won't load any websites or end process

Have you tried other browsers to see if its just Firefox?

Used to have win 7, upgraded to 10 a couple weeks ago.

Randomly yesterday the computer turned off. I turned it back on and it said it shut down incorrectly and it was going to go through the repair process. It kept going through a loop and would never complete that process. It gave me some other options such as system restore which I tried but it could not find any restore points. Then I tried another option which was the last viable one, unfortunately I don't recall what it was, but I remember it implied to me that it would be rolling back my operating system to Windows 7 instead of 10, 7 being my previous OS.
I let this run over night and I came back to it in the morning and it was still sitting there. I turned the computer off and then back on and it automatically went back into that process.

I am unsure if my hard drive is faulty or if the OS is corrupted or something.

Can I do something in BIOS to bypass this and get into windows? Should I reinstall windows on this harddrive, or buy a new one?

Thankyou for any feedback and information.

I was reading an article referred to me from another thread on the Windows OS boot process, and while reading, I couldn't help but wonder --
When a computer turns on, why can't it start loading the OS earlier on in the boot process?
Regarding the gradual unfolding of a computer's boot processes from power-on -> OS loaded, why are there so many "hoops" to jump through in the boot process? It seems like the BIOS has to point to this location, this location can then read that location, that location can then load this location, this location runs this to load that location, etc., progressively higher and higher level. Even accessing a hard drive, it seems like there are multiple incarnations of "drivers" that need to be used until the highest-level drivers within the OS can take over.

I can sort of understand why it's necessary for a lifeless piece of machinery be able to go from a powerless, very low-level functionality and climb the ladder to higher functionality (with analogies like needing to start in lower gears to work up speed toward higher gears), but as far as computers go, I don't particularly understand the specifics of why it can't be done in less "hoops". I'd guess it's a large part of what the BIOS->UEFI transition is for -- a higher-level intermediary between powerless low-level hardware and higher-functioning OS abilities...?

I think I can catch the drift analogy-wise, but if anyone... Read more

Since about a few weeks ago I noticed that when I leave my PC idle, and if I don't press any key or use the mouse for about 20 to 30 minutes, some rogue svchost.exe process will start utilizing about 20-40% of CPU resources.

As soon as I move the mouse pointer or press any key (which is necessary if I'm to find out which process it is), that process seems to vanish completely and the CPU load goes back to normal.

I tried to locate which particular svchost.exe file it is by leaving sysinternals process explorer running (I hoped to find out its PID) but it seems that even its PID gets changed from one time to another. It seems that the process not only stops using a lot of CPU resources when the PC is not idle anymore, but that it completely stops running.

I ran ESET Smart Security 8 several times and it doesn't find anything suspicious.

Does anyone have some suggestions as to how I could locate the problematic process and hopefully get rid of it once and for all?

Answer:Rogue svchost.exe process stealthily causes high CPU load

Just some ideas.

Check if you have anything Scheduled.
Check and see if you have your security System to scan.
Check and see if indexing is completed.
Check and see if you have MRT running.
Check and see if you have any Auto Updating programs.
Do you have any Auto Cloud backup programs running

I would also recommend running Malwarebytes to be sure.

Hey everybody,

This is my first post and I am trying out 7 on my Acer Aspire One netbook. I know its not very powerful, but it is running 7 nicely (when it does run..)

In any case, I am dual booting 7 and XP from this 1.6 atom, 1gb ram netbook. The install always goes smoothly and so do most programs. However, I will get BSODs regularly when the system is under load doing lots of tasks. The error messages seem to be different every time. I have gotten volsnap.sys, bad pool caller, and lots more. Superfetch will often crash as well. The screens flash by so quickly I can't always see the exact error messages.

These are appearing after clean installs of 7 with 2-3 programs installed. I have attached one of the minidumps if that would help, but any advice would be greatly appreciated!!

Thanks in advance!

Answer:5-6 full re-installs, still BSODs under process load on Aspire One

I got this also.. I think it is an audio driver issue.. did you get music whtn this crashes?

Hello, I'm facing a following problem: Some random programs on my PC won't start. I click on the icons, and some of them load their windows, but some programs do not load anyting but a process in task manager. It seems random. The same program can work once and after a restart or some time - it ceases to. What could be the cause?I experienced several unusual sym[ptoms recentyl, but couldn't trace it back to one particular moment:In order from the oldest to the most recent event: From time to time system won't load and there was a information on the black screen that a file ntos.dll (something with NT and OS and DLL in the name) could not be loaded and needed re-installation. I?m experiencing very annoying issue. CPU loaded with System Idle Process always. Because of that there is serious lag in iterfase. Problem appeared almost sumultaniusly on there different PCs. Using ?Process Explorer? and going to System Idle Process - Threads I?ve found processes with names:
ntoskrnl.exe!KiDespatch Interrupt+0x650 (on one PC)
ntoskrnl.exe!KiCpuId+0x6a0 (on two others)

I have three diffenent machines - one old acer laptop, one modern desktop and wmware virtual machine running on macbook. All have same OS - win 7 ultimate sp1. All of them are in the same network.

I?ve tried to localise issue by removing services and applications from startup - nothing, I?ve scanned machines with microsoft security essentials, Dr Web CureIT and Kaskpersky virus removal tool. Still nothing.

CPU get loaded as soon as system starts. Number of ntoskrnl.exe instances equals to number of CPU kernels. 1, 2 and 8 in my case on different PCs .

I?ve been googling the whole Sunday - nothing helped. Some suggest that it is hardware related... apparently it is not as it happend to three complitely different computers.

Can? anyone suggest what else can I try?

Answer:ntoskrnl.exe threads hosted by system Idle process load 100% CPU

Welcome to TSF.

From what I see here, the System does not have enough RAM and a lot of TCP/IP traffic has just begun. As the 'problem' occurs on 3 machines, have you tried rebooting the router/switch/hub (common factor)?

Hi I made a stupid mistake and started low level formatting an external (USB) hard drive using windows 7 starter thinking it was a small partition on the laptop drive (I couldn't see the contents of the drive on windows 7!!). A few minutes into this process I realised I was formatting my external hard drive and pulled the USB plug. I plugged the external drive back into my old computer which uses vista and obviously I can't read this drive properly now (presumably because the partition is screwed up). I have heard that the low level format process should take a while (and I was trying to format a terabyte hard drive) so is there any way I can rebuild and recover some of the data on this drive?

I actually downloaded HDD Recovery and tried the recovery option but after scanning a 32GB (not 931GB) FAT32 partition, it tried to build a tree structure and came up with what seemed to be a bunch of gobbledygook. I actually found some documents and videos that I recognised but have not pressed recover as I can clearly see that it is a very small fraction of what I once had on the drive (I can only see very few word documents and media files, I was using about 680GB of the drive) and do not want to ruin any chances of recovering much more.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I painted my girlfriends grandma's house, and in return she gave me her old computer.
The computers operating system is Windows ME. Anyway, she had told me that the orginal cd-rw drive that came with the computer had failed, and she had a tech replace it with a new one.

Well, I've had the computer for nearly a year now, and now the new cd-rw drive doesn't read the disc. The light flashes, and I can hear the disc spinning, but nothing else happens. I get a:
'"Please insert disc into drive D:" response when clicking on drive D.

Recently, I had to re-install Windows due to a techinical issue, and afterwards is when I noticed this problem.

I though that the cd-rw was missing a driver and I needed to download and install it so the cd-rw would function properly. So I pulled the driver out and got the following info:
CDRW 52x24x52 OEM
Model Number: 52X24X52 CD-RW
P/N: 91.3ED37.025
S/N: 30306900JE E2

I did a search online I couldn't find any drivers for this specific model. I don't know for sure if this is in fact the problem because I'm not a tech, but usaully am able to fix quite a few things.

Anyways, I'm totally lost. Does anybody know what the problem is? Can anybody offer any knowledge about it?? Is the drive broken crap? (I know Acer isn't good)

Also, the reason that I need my cd drive at this very moment is that I just signed up for DSL
and have no way of installing the DSL software that is provided ... Read more

NOT the setup screen so that I can reinstall my windows. I tried to change my boot sequence so that the CD rom would be 1st. This did nothing, I had the same problem. It's as if my cd rom isnt readint the disk at all. I can hear it , but nothing occurs, it's like the disk just stays in place. I alos tried pressing F8 when I restarted my comp and chose last known good configuration, but that did nothing at all???I've never had this problem, when I went to bed my computer was finelast night, now it's just gone from bad to worse. My question is, what can I do? If my cd rom isnt working, is there a way I can hoook up my computer to another so I can boot my computer that way? Or can I buy a "stand alone" cd rom to hook up to my computer so the I use the disk? The disk works, I tried it on my friends computer. We bought a rebuild ... Dell, Intel Pent 4 @ 2.8GHz, 1 GB RAM. 80 GB HDD, Win XP Pro. This is not the first time we've done this, but this time things didn't go so well.

We hooked it up to the router to get it going ... disconnected it and it didn't pick up the wireless signal, so we reconnected it to get the stuff needed to get it going. We thought we'd get it all ready and worry about the router later ... other devices in the house caught the router's signal, so one bridge at a time .. (Any ideas with that?)

First thing, we went to filehippo and downloaded and installed: AVAST, CCleaner,Flash AND Open Office and the necessary JAVE runtime deal OO requires. THen, we resterted it. My daughter insisted we go back to filehippo to download iTunes. I did. While there, I also downloaded Adobe Reader.

Then we went to to get updates .. there were only 3. I was feeling pretty good about how fast it was all going. Then, we went back to filehippo to get the media player upgrade. WHILE the media player was downloading, the computer all of a sudden 'died,' the green "I am on" light was a bright yellow and the monitor said that it detected no input. We had to unplug it from the wall to start it back up.

We chose normal startup and it went to the XP screen, then we got this mesage:

OK It first happened while I was surfing online, I was surfing on sites that I can say are pretty much safe, but at the same time I was running either AVG 7.5 antivurus or their AVG antispyware 7.5 (not sure which one of the two) . At some point when the scanning was on my E hard drive ( windows is on my C hard drive ) the computer froze and naturally I restarted. But windows didnt wanna start after the restart, it kept giving these messeges: windows didnt shut down properly and it asked me to choose to start it in safe or normal or etc.. mode.

I tried every type of start mode, it didnt work. Windows wouldnt load and u know that line where windows loads would move a while and then responce no nothing. So I tried restaring several times. Same thing, widnows didnt start properly last time, choose a mode...after I choose it loaded for a while but then stopped!

So I took it to the repair, the re-installed my windows. Now when I wanna start it, it runs properly doesnt ask me to choose, windows ... Read more

Answer:Solved: Browsers will not load microsoft website but will load FB, Google etc etc

Either it's a problem server side for them, which would be an issue with your IP,
or a process/service altered some of your core system settings on your end which blocks the microsoft website for some reason....., you can try a different IP address just to make sure it's not server side for them, and then if that doesn't work I am not sure what to tell you other than reinstalling all browsers, and eventually refromatting if reinstalling browsers does not work.

IF it is an IP issue it could be something with your network, if a network admin blocked the microsoft website, or even theoretically your ISP if there was a strange issue with them, however that would be rare.

I run both IE 8 and Firefox on my Dell Dimension system. I'm having problems now with both browsers taking forever to load. This may be a virus or network problem. IE 8 just loaded now after 15 minutes (exactly - I timed it).

- Once it's loaded once, both browsers load in normal amounts of time.
- I haven't downloaded any new add-ons lately unless one browser or the other installed one in the background.
- The problem just started today after a reboot.
- I've also noticed that my network icon in the taskbar doesn't show up anymore when I first boot but by the time IE opens, it has showed up.
- Using ipconfig, I did determine that I am on the network and connected immediately after boot up (router also shows me connected immediately).
- I've tried running IE from the command line with iexplore.exe -extoff. It didn't make any difference. I don't know if this works with IE 8 though.
- When I click to open either web browser, the process shows up right away in Task Manager and remains.
- I have all the latest updates to both browsers that I know of.
- I've run a complete system scan with McAfee (fully updated as of today.)

Now I've run out of ideas on what to try. I appreciate any help!

Looking for help.
I've recently completed a new build and can only get WinXP to boot, but not Win 7. First, my components:

Intel i7 2600K
Kingston HyperX Ram, 16 GB (KHX1600C9C3K4/16GX)
GeForce 9500GT (used from prior system)
Seagate Barracuda 250 GB (from prior)
Maxtor 500 GB (from prior)
PS is 630W, not sure of brand off hand

My hard drives were previously partitioned as follows. The Seagate had a primary 100 GB boot partition with Windows 7 and the remainder as a backup partition. The Maxtor has a small 20 GB partition with Win XP (as a back up in case of primary drive failure) with the remainder of the drive used as my main data partition.

Assembly seemed to go fine but on first boot simply went to a black screen after post. I flash updated to most recent Bios and disconnected the Maxtor drive. At this point could get to the boot screen. But, no matter what option I chose (normal startup, safe mode, repair, last known working configuration), it would go to black screen with "Starting Windows," and would either hang here, or sometimes the loading animations with the colored flags would just begin to start and then I'd get a blue screen. When attempting safe mode, I would get a blue screen amidst loading drivers. At this point I put in the Win7 installation disk. Whether I select repair or new installation, it will say loading files then go to blue screen after the "Starting Windows" displayed.

At this point, I stripped ... Read more

I have always worked in Chrome. My work page won't load anymore, as of last week. I tried it in Internet Explorer, and then tried FireFox. Chrome and Internet Explorer both say the problem is with the site, not with my computer or my firewall. FireFox says the site may be busy and can't be contacted. Every other employee, including my husband's computer in the next room, can load this site.
I have tweaked my proxy settings to allow automatic connections. I have disabled Kaspersky and Ad Mucher. I have done three progressively early system restores, to times when I was able to load the web page. I have turned the computer on and off after each new fix I tried. Nothing has worked.
Any suggestions?

I dont know if this is posted in the right area but I'm so desperate to get my laptop working its unreal.
First it started off with my laptop crashing, I had totally forgot it needed to do a windows update and turned off my laptop in hopes that it would work properly.
After that my laptop has not been working. The machine turns on and gives me two options. Start windows normally or do a repair. Upon starting windows normally, it loads so far before sending me back to the two options of start windows normally or repair. On the second time I clicked repair. My laptop then goes so far before presenting me with a blue screen that is usually the screen where my accounts are. The cursor still moves but it loads no further even after leaving it an hour. I decided to make a repair disk, hoping that the problem was because of windows. the disk loads, gives me a choice on the keyboard language then does nothing. I honestly have no idea what to do, I want to keep all the files safe on my computer as I havent backed them up and I have worked so hard on the projects. someone please help

Answer:windows 7 refuses to load and system repair wont load

Do a hardware/software reset with your BIOS:Shut down and turn off the computer.
Unplug the computer from the wall or surge protector (then remove the battery if it is a laptop).
"Remove the computer from any port replicator or docking station, disconnect
cables to printers or devices such as external monitors, USB memory sticks or SD cards, headset or external speakers, mouse or auxiliary keyboard, turn off WIFI and Bluetooth wireless devices." (Use Hard Reset to Resolve Hardware and Software Issues HP Pavilion dv5000 Notebook PC series - HP Customer Care (United States - English))
Hold down the power button for 30 seconds. This closes the circuit and ensures all
power from components is drained to clear the software connections between the BIOS
and hardware and clear any corruption in the temporary memory.
(If it is a laptop, plug the battery back into the laptop and then) Plug the computer back into the wall. Do not reconnect any unnecessary peripherals; monitor, keyboard,
and mouse should suffice and be the only peripherals reconnected.
Turn it on to reinitialize the software connections between the BIOS and hardware

After doing those steps, clear your CMOS by entering the BIOS (see your system manual for steps to enter the BIOS), going to the EXIT screen, and loading setup/optimized defaults.

Laptop is a Samsung R510 running Vista.
When it is switched on, it gets stuck on the Samsung BIOS load screen. The F2 (Setup) and F4 (Recovery) buttons don't work unless they are pressed straight away. But when they are pressed it says 'Please Wait', but nothing happens.
I have changed the CMOS battery, but it hasn't helped.

I have also taken the hard drive out and turned it on, still the same.  Each RAM stick has been tried on its own, and it is still the same.

Greetings gurus. Internet trouble. As the title says, my mail will not load in any browser. Page load is very slow and most things time out at least once. AT&T ran line tests on DSL and everything was clean. Not sure how this could be. Speedtest was run many times and no probs. I even did some gaming which strains everything with no problems. I'm open to the possibility of a virus. Ran Avira and MBAM but haven't gone further. Strangely the wife's Facebook games are a no-go. Also, wireless devices work fine. Heeeeelp!

About 3 weeks ago, I noticed that my yahoo mail was not loading correctly.
Since then I have discovered that several websites will not load at all.

My wife's laptop with xp has no issues with the same sites.

Yahoo sites load partially displaying only text and text links.
While searching for remedies, I found yahoo answers that appeared like there might be useful information but could not get them to load either.

Two other example sites that do not load at all:

Firefox reports that they failed to load, Chrome reports that there was no data received.

I have Avast AV running, have tried clearing any and all rootkits. Tried Malware bytes, tried flushing the DNS cache. And as far as I can tell I am virus free yet nothing has helped.

I even tried looking up the IP address of using nslookup and could not get any of the returned IP addresses to load.

I thought it may be a DNS issue, but I appear to be using reliable DNS servers and

Any ideas as to what may be causing my system to refuse to download specific web sites?

Internet access is very slow. It takes up to 3 minutes to get a page to load, and I have to hit 'Reload' 2-3 times before a site finally loads. When it does, Firefox still shows the site as loading. This problem appeared after one of three events. On the same day, I downloaded Babylon and FoxLingo. I have uninstalled both, and removed and remaining registry entries. I also received an email from my fan site on Ning (I am an author) requesting approval for a blog post. The link took me to my fan site, but there was no blog posted. I discovered it was the usual spam for male enhancement drugs, but perhaps it was hiding a more malicious virus. I cleaned up my Ning site and notified them. I have had the problem since. I ran AdAware and AVG, and only came up with minor cookies. I also ran SDFix, including catchme, and got 0 hits. I ran Malwarebytes, which only showed the SDFix files and 2 low-level threats. I also ran HiJackThis, but the log showed nothing that should not be present. All that leads me here. I have followed the procedure in the Prep Guide. FYI-I had to run GMER 3 times. It caused my system to freeze the first two times it finished scanning, which took over 10 hours. Outside of the Internet, my computer runs other software smoothly. I have a brand new ASUS MB, 500GBHD, AMD chip and 4GB DD2 memory-less than 3 months old. I am trying to solve this problem on a friend's laptop. It is a Sony Vaio with Windows 7 64bit, using Chrome. Bought within the last year. I can play videos from sites like youtube, hulu, and sports sites, but when I try to play a video from putlocker, gorillavid, or other streaming sites typically used for videos like anime or tv shows the video either doesn't load (just spins) or takes a REALLY long time to load, almost like it is downloading the full video before it plays.

I borrowed another laptop from the library which also has Windows 7 and Chrome and all the videos play fine on it using the same internet connection, so it is definitely something local to this machine.

I have searched the net for three days trying to find a solution, but to no avail. I have the latest versions of flash, java, etc. I have tried older versions of flash. I've disabled the antivirus and firewall. Disabled the built-in flash plugin for chrome. I really am not sure what else to do. If anyone has any suggestions I would readily welcome them. I have tried other browsers as well and had similar issues.

Answer:Online videos do not load or take a very long time to load

I haven't used my PC for a few days and when I came to use it I found that it was off. So I turned it on and it brings up the XP loading screen and as it starts to load it jumps to a screen allowing me to open Safe Mode with Networking, Safe Mode and Safe Mode with prompt.

It also allows me to restart from a restore point which I have tried but just repeats the process.

I have started in SafeMode with Networking.

If I turn the PC off it will restart and the red working light will run but it won't fire anything up (Monitor remains in sleep mode) and I have to wait for about 10 mins at which point the Safe Mode option will be repeated.

I have run the logs as requested and I'm happy to provide more detail in any way necessary.

Yours hopefully CWD1982

Answer:Windows XP won't load but then gives the option to and will load in Safe Mode

I am not finding any malware in your logs. I suggest you post in the software forum and maybe try doing a repair install.

Since you are not having any malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:
We recommend you keep Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for scanning/removal of malware. You can uninstall RogueKiller and HitManPro.
Go back to step 6 oof the READ ME and renable your Disk Emulation software with Defogger if you had disabled it.
Any other miscellaneous tools we may have had you install or download can be uninstalled and deleted.
If running Vista or Win 7, it is time to make sure you have reenabled UAC by double clicking on the C:\MGtools\enableUAC.reg file and allowing it to be added to the registry.
Go to add/remove programs and uninstall HijackThis.
Goto the C:\MGtools folder and find the MGclean.bat file. Double click on this file to run this cleanup program that will remove files and folders
related to MGtools and some other items from our cleaning procedures.
After doing the above, you should work thru the below link:

I have a very simple web page that automatically updates daily. However, very often when I view it I just get the version that is in my browser cache rather than the latest version from the web. I have to do a manual refresh from the browser to see the latest version. Not a problem for me, but other viewers of the page may not realize they aren't seeing the latest information.

Is there an HTML tag or some such that can be included in the page that will force a refresh and override any old version that the viewer may still have in their browser cache?

I just had a friend put together a new computer for salvaging some old parts and mostly new parts. I have an antec 900 case, evga e8400 mother board, nvidia geforce 8800 gt graphics card, and two wd 600gb HDD with 4 gb ram.

I installed windows vista on one of the discs, and it started out rebooting fine, however it seems to take literally minutes to get to the vista sign in. I have a blinking cursor for minutes, than sometimes it will wake up and fully load and show the sign in. Other times it seems to just hang sometimes with blinking cursor, sometimes without.

Does anyone know what could be causing this and what I can or should do about it? other than uninstalling vista and going back to xp? vista does load quickly after signin, but the wait from hitting power button to actual sign takes forever. Thanks in advance.

This just started happening last night. Earlier that day I bought a 160gb seagate external HD at Fry's for 50 bux and was moving tons a files over to it (for about 3 hours). At one point I cancelled uploading and rebooted fine, but later that night my girlfriend did the same thing and rebooted and XP will not load... not in safe mode. I didn't install anything with the external HD as it was Plug n Play and I didn't install any new programs yesterday either...

I don't have a Win XP CD either (or boot disk). I guess my first action will need to be to buy Win XP and try a system recovery?

Is there any way to find out what is stopping it from loading?

I also switched the memory sticks with some other memory and that did nothing...

I'm at a loss :l

Do you have more then 1 computer connected to your modem/router? If so, does this happen on them? If not, can you connect a separate one (ex: friend's laptop) to test?

Normally when you get errors like this it's best to rule out a problem at the modem/router and provider before going crazy over trying to fix a problem (that may not exist) on your PC(s).

Also just a couple of other questions:

Who is your internet provider (ISP)?
What connection type do they use (Cable/DSL/Fiber/Fixed Wireless/Mobile Wireless)?
What is the make and model of your router and modem?

Answer:can't load drivers to t42. Using an IBM pre-load xp pro sp3 hard drive

Hi Charlie,
I believe these three drivers should be what you need. Did you try to download and install any of these? If not try these and let us know if that works out fine or not.
Intel wireless driver:
Atmel TPM (Trusted Platform Module) device driver:
ThinkPad Power Management driver for Windows:
You can also use Lenovo system update to install and update your drivers without the need to download and install each one manually.

Answer:ip main page did not load, but load moderm pag

Sounds like your Modem is on that IP address and your Router is on another. I thought LinkSys routers used out of the box and most DSL modems used and Cable modems used Which address are you using? What kind of Modem do you have (Model Number and if it is DSL or Cable)?

Hey.My computer has been operating excruciatingly slow over the past few months, and I have no idea why. I'm pretty new to computers, as far as, being able to fix them myself. I run ESET-NOD32 as anti-virus; Zone Alarm as a firewall; and Prevx. I also regularly scan with Ad-Aware SE, Spybot- S&D, AVG, and Spyware Blaster (which I don't think that I am using correctly).I followed the steps that you have outlined in the "Preparation Guide For Use Before Posting" but was unable to get the on-line scanners to work (all 3). I was using IE at the time. All my scans come up clean, but programs are loading too slow, or not at all. Answer:xp sp3 won't load normal will load safe mode

Your graphics card may be irrelevant. My PC was working fine Thursday morning (1-Sept-2011) , I have made no equipment changes, but when I switched on Friday 2nd I get the same error as you; although it will boot if I use the "last known good confiruration" option. Have tried restoring to my AM 1-Sept-2011 configuration settings (restore point) but this makes no difference. My neighbour has also experienced an identical problem, hos worked morning of 1st sept but failed to boot in the evening; suspect a faulty update; do you have automatic Windows updates turned on? Are you using Mcafee virus protection or Firewall?

Hello, im having a problem with loading some pages on the web, some will load super fast others will load snail slow or not at all, it's a hit and miss on what pages load it's different every time. I have been haveing this problem for about a week whilst using multiple browser (FireFox,IE and Opera)

computer info:

MS Windows SP3

Intel Pentium 4 CPU 2.66GHz, 1.0GB Ram
I do maintenance on my PC often like defrag when needed , disk cleanup and virus scans and use CCleaner often

I recently did virus scan and found 4 or so viruses and got rid of them

Scanned for malware using Malwarebytes'Anti-Malware and found a few problems and took care of them

got rid of gamvance thing i had on there

I have minimal things load on startup of my pc

Any help with this problem would be great

Answer:Some Pages wont load at all and others load fine

Try running a ping to the sites that have trouble loading to see what kind of connection times you are looking at. I would also run a tracert to those sites to see if there are any places dropping the connection.

I've had a subscription to the online version of USA Today since 2012 and rarely had a problem viewing it.  A few days ago, I began having a problem.  I can login OK, but the newspaper won't display.  This happens on 2 PCs, one desktop, the other a laptop.  Both PCs run Win7 Pro SP1 x64.  The problem also happens using both IE and FF.
Normally, I run the MVPS hosts file on both PCs.  Because I had updated the hosts file a few days ago as well, I decided to put back the default MS (blank) hosts file to see if perhaps the new hosts file was blocking something USA Today needed.  With the default MS hosts file, I got a different result as shown in the screen shot below:

That prompt at the bottom took me by surprise so I Googled it.  I got many hits for "load.js from" described as a Redirect Virus.  I'm assuming the one I'm receiving is related.  I clicked on cancel.  The USA Today newspaper still did not display.
Any idea where this file is coming from?
Any ideas why I can no longer view the USA Today online?
I run Norton Security on both PCs.  I've received no Norton warnings about any virus.  I also ran full scans with Malwarebytes and SUPERAntiSpyware on both PCs and they were clean.

Answer:Do you want to open or save load.js from

This problem is screwy.  From about 7am-11am this morning, I was getting the same result shown in my opening post.  Then, sometime after 11am, it started working, mostly.
With the MVPS hosts file loaded, the newspaper displayed normally:

With the default MS hosts file loaded, the newspaper displays, but again with the load.js asking to be opened or saved.

I clicked on cancel.
Wonder how long it will continue to load properly.
Sure would like to know where that load.js is coming from and if it is malicious or not.  Just for chuckles, I downloaded the 1k file and opened it with Notepad.  Here is what was in the file:

document.write('<img src="" width="0" height="0" />');

Answer:Alienware won't load past XP load screen

Pay more attention to your typing...

Your going to have to strip down the system to bare minimum hardware. Set the bios to failsafe defaults, use on-board video if you have it. Remove any USB devices and any add-in PCI cards like a NIC, sound card and use only 1 stick of RAM for the Windows fresh install
