Turtle Beack X12 Replaying Computer Sounds

Question: Turtle Beack X12 Replaying Computer Sounds

I have scoured the internet for months, and I couldn't find anything. I even checked an old article from this website, which didnt help. I have tried most obvious things, such as disabling stereo mix, though and help at all is accepted because you never know. Thanks.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi guys, once again I need your help. My home computer is an HP Kayak XM600 which once was very fast. Now It became a turtle. This computer is basically being used by my two daughters (14 and 15) and I regularly sweep it with Norton, Bazooka, Ad-Aware, Spy Sweeper. I am adding a listing of the hijack this file so that you can tell me whats wrong. Thanks very much.

I was cheking the updates for windows and it said that I have to download a IE service pack 1 so I did, everything was going well, but I felt that my computer was slow then I make scandisk but it showed me a message that said " Scandisk has been restarted 10 times because windows or any other program was writing on the disk".

So I didn't do anything, But now when I try to navegate on the internet the computer is very slowly sometimes take five minutes to charge a page.

I want to know what I can do AND if I put more RAM in my computer that could help.

Answer:Computer like a Turtle

Best to solve one problem at a time. Before we start talking about RAM or other things, lets try to get the scandisk thing worked out.

Restart in safe mode and run scandisk from there. Let us know how it works out.

Hi all

When I replay a webcam video that I took to test alls ok, there is no sound replayed in the movie, I have tried 2 new different webcams with the same result. When I test the mic in windows sound checker the green bar moves ok but then it tells me there is no microphone connected to the laptop... very strange when the green bar moves when I talk.. I?m starting to think it's the mic-in plug as I have gone through all the settings in can.

The sound is ok when I play music or anything else, that?s why I think it?s something to do with the mic-in or a mic setting.. I?m stumped :)

Any ideas what?s wrong.

Thanks

Answer:Satellite L30 - not replaying sound from mic-in

Hi nado-gr4,

This is a little bit confusing? How you connect the webcam to your notebook? Via USB port and do you use the internal microphone of your webcam or have you connected an external one?

I think you must set the default device in recording tab of sound settings: Control panel > sound > Recording tab.

You should see the connected device and set it as default device. If not right click on this window and select ?Show disabled devices? and ?Show disconnected devices?.

Check this!!!

I have run all the diognostic, restore and clean up programs I can think of, but still no improvement...I have xp, 3ghd, 256 ram.. not sure what else is needed but thats a start..thankyouvicky :-?

Answer:computer is worse then a turtle...

Your hard disk is only 3 GB? Are you sure?    Also, 256 is enough to slow a system down pretty well. What programs do you have running in the background while on the computer? Which antivirus protector do you have? Are you sure that you're virus free?Flame

I have been noticing considerable slowdown with my computer. I have run various virus detectors and find very little. Task manager shows very little cpu usage, but my hard drive runs excessively. The computer has been restarting or shutting down randomly at times, and the longer you are on the computer the slower it seems to go.

I went through the 5 steps and panda found 170+ spyware instances, and 3 questionable files. I have the report saved if needed.

pasted is the dss log and attached is the extra text.

I dont know if it is spyware or malware as Ive done mbam multiple times and it didnt find anything. My computer will take forever to load a simple program anywhere between 2-5 mins sometimes it never opens. The computer freezes at random all the time now and a cold boot is the only way to remedy the situation.

The slowness starts as soon as windows starts so there are no programs running except the stuff in task manager.

These symptoms started about a week ago. I dont remember downloading anything. Ive inlcuded the attachments

Answer:Computer Running at Turtle Speed

Greetings, and welcome to TSF!

Please print out or copy this page to Notepad. Make sure to work through the fixes in the exact order it is mentioned below. If there's anything that you don't understand, ask your question(s) before proceeding with the fixes. You should 'not' have any open browsers when you are following the procedures below.

Go to My Computer->Tools/View->Folder Options->View tab and make sure that 'Show hidden files and folders' (or 'Show all files') is enabled. Also make sure that 'Display the contents of system folders' is checked. If you have Windows XP, the search feature is a little different. When you click on 'All files and folders' on the left pane, click on the 'More advanced options' at the bottom. Make sure that 'Search system folders', 'Search hidden files and folders', and 'Search subfolders' are checked.

For the options that you checked/enabled earlier, you may uncheck them after your log is clean. If we ask you to fix a program that you use or want to keep, please post back saying that (we don't know every program that exists, so we may tell you to delete a program that we think is bad to keep).

===============

Download, then unzip to "C:\HJT", the newest version of HiJackThis; version 1.99.1. Then repost your log, either now, or after following the steps in the solution (if provided in this post). This version has features that might be more helpful in 'cleaning' up your system.

Solitaire would run nicely on that.  And you could save your few megabytes of diskspace for something else. By the way Windows requires 15% free disk space to perform normally.

I am running Windows XP Media Center Edition version 2002 Service Pack 3 on a Dell Inspiron I6400 duo core processor 1.60ghz with 1.99GB Ram.
over time the system has gotten slower and slower and it's barely usable now. It's painfully slow.

I've run This years Kaspersky Antivirus (paid version), in safe mode and no viruses were found (I updated the databases)
I've run spybot search and destroy, updated the databases and run in safemode.
I've cleaned temp files, degraged, and also looked to remove un-needed programs.
I've eliminated the cashe and temp files in my browsers and have kept startup programs to a minimum.
Any help on this would be great.

Thanks.

Define "slow". EXACTLY what is slow?

What happens in safe mode? What happens with a clean boot?

I have a turtle beach x32 headset. I know that you are supposed to use the chat adapter cable to connect it to your PC but I noticed that the transmitter uses 2.5/5ghz dual band wifi. And I know using programs such as connectify you can turn a laptop (Such as mine) into a router.

Is there a way I can get my computer to broadcast the wifi signal and have my headset pick it up and pair with it? Kinda like tricking it into thinking my computer is the transmitter.

Answer:Connect Turtle Beach and Computer wirelessly

No. The transmitter only sends the audio signal to your headset and uses proprietary software/hardware to do so. It may use a wifi radio to reduce interference during gaming, but the two can only mate to each other via the pairing button and a traditional wireless card is not setup to do the same thing.

I'm not sure why you would want to do this anyways. You wouldn't get chat functionality on your PC this way because the mic is setup to run through the Xbox controller to the console like a console headset. USB is only used for power and the wireless transmission is only used for audio.

Okay so I have the PX21's with the 7.1 surround sound adapter (DPX21) and so whenever I plug it in to my computer the Bass and Game sound controls seem to not work and the Chat control is the only one that works... anybody know how to fix this?

Answer:Turtle Beach PX21/DPX21 computer problem

I got this by asking Turtle Beach tech support:

If the Game level and Bass Boost controls work when you use your PX21 on a PS3 or Xbox, but do not work when you use the headset on a PC, read on:

The PX21 is actually two audio interfaces in one. (The P11 is similar, but has no Bass Boost.)

1) The first interface is the analog stereo audio input to the headphones. Audio signal is fed from the PC's Line Out (green jack) to the PX21's green headphone input jack.

2) The other is the USB audio interface (like a USB soundcard built into the headset). This USB interface operates the CHAT talkback and the MIC feed. This is the PX21's "CHAT" audio in/out.

- If you connect the PX21 to your PC, Windows may switch the sound playback away from the onboard audio and send all sound to the Turtle Beach USB Headset audio device. If this happens, the PX21's GAME and BASS BOOST controls won't be active. Only the CHAT level control will be active.

_____________________________________________________________

Here's how to set up the PX21 so that all controls will work on the PC:

- Connect the green plug from the PX21 to the green Line Out jack on your PC's onboard audio
or sound card.
- Connect the PX21's USB plug to a USB port on your PC.

Now, if you want to use the GAME control for the game's soundtrack, and the CHAT control for Ventrilo, Teamspeak, Steam, etc., do this:

- In your game... Read more

Hi I am new here.

I am running Win XP Home SP2 and recently my computer has been making random background noises. Its like an IE7 mouse click. Sometimes it plays ads in the background and sometimes for long periods of time. I have had no other programs open that have advertisements built into at the time. I have AVG Free and it has decteted several trojans. So I stumped upto this point.

here is my HJT Log.

Mind you I did not have IE7 running at the time but HJT picked it up. Not sure... Anyways

so please help/B]

Answer:Solved: computer beeping sounds when i turn on computer

There are three possibilities here, all related to your memory.

1) You have forgotten to fit your memory back in.
2) Your memory isn't properly seated in its slot(s)
3) You have killed your memory because of not following antistatic procedures.

I'm suspecting it is either 2 or 3.

Since I put in Win 7 over the weekend, I have been getting a new sound. I have been d/l several large (2 gig) files restoring my programs. It seems when the HD starts working extra hard, I hear this "ding, ding, ding". One about every second as long as the HD is working hard. It doesn't seem to interfere with the operation, but I am always suspect of sounds that are new. Anyone have any ideas what that might be?

Answer:need computer sounds

Start Menu/Control Panel.

In Control Panel click Sound and Audio. (I *think* this is how it is listed in XP)

Sounds tab.

Look at what is listed for Sound Scheme. If it is set for No Sounds click the drop down arrow and choose Windows Default.

Check the box next to Play Windows Startup Sound if that is available to you.

Click Apply.

Question: Computer sounds

I have just set up a new computer. (Yes I finally got it)The specs are
Pentium 4 2.53GHz
512 MB DDRam
80 GB HD
Windows XP, etc. etc.

The thing I notice is that unlike my other computers, it groans and grinds a bit, whenever it is active and even when it is not active it makes a few little grinds. This is not the sound of the fan. It is like a rolling, grinding sound. I am sure I am not the first to experience this. What is it Is it normal and is there anything I can do to stop it?

I might add that if I have to send this back I shall go bananas. It took me 14 hours yesterday to set it up, update 38 critical updates, 2 drivers, 8 other updates, put my own proggies on it and generally change settings and stuff. I don't want to go through that again in a hurry.

Answer:Computer sounds

could be the floppy or more likely the CD/DVD/burner. I've noticed that the higher speed ones tend to make alot of noise. Also, your cache and swap file could be constantly being accessed and you're hearing the hard drive working...you must have a pretty quiet system to hear that.

I know how to change my program event sounds, but don't know what some of these events are for. For example, open, close windows, mail notification are obvious. What are "exclamation, critical stop, and question" for? Is there a way to set up a sound to tell me when a download is complete?

Thanks

Answer:Customize computer sounds

You can do it through third-party software such as Icon Hear It. I had an earlier version of it a few years back and it would let me assign sounds to just about any event I could think of in Windows, including a separate one for completed file downloads (as I recall, anyway). Not sure if the new version has that particular event included---you can contact Moon Valley and ask.

Every once and awhile my computer sounds like it is about to explode....

I know it is the fan going hard but i can't tell if it is dust particles or a cable hiting the fan of either the CPU (doubt that) or the Video Card (think so). I checked my case and no cables come near the fans and the case is relatively dust free...

It all stops after i shut down the computer for a minute or so... Only seems to occuring during games (therefore my dear watson, it must be the video card!)

Any ideas?

well my video card slot cooler craped out after a few months and it made the same sounds. I took it out and couldn't figure out what was wrong with it even after taking it apart. I just got a new one.

Hi,

Strange minor problem but a noisy one. I have 2 altec lansing speakers connected to a woofer (I think), all connected to the computer.

The speakers never did this before. Just started recently. They will make a scratching noise, like static. It wakes me up when I'm sleeping. Of course the speakers are on when they do this.

I realize that I can just shut the speakers off, but I don't want to wear out the knobs and make these speakers have any more feedback than they already do.

Any idea what is causing feedback when the sys is off, and what I can do?

Speakers are in same place as they always have been.

Thanks..

My computer:

Nvidia nForce 680i Motherboard
GeForce 9800GTX 512mb Video Card
2 GB DDR2 Memory
Intel 2.33GHz Core 2 Duo Processor
600W OCZ Power Supply

--------------------------------------------------------------------

One thing to note - I see that there isn't a 8 pin connector for the CPU spot. I only have two 4 pin connectors (but only one of them works for that of the 8 pins available). So I think I need to get a different power supply from Newegg because this one is not right... Doesn't have any 8 pin connectors, only two 6 & 4 pin.

The noise/problem:

At random moments when my computer is running it makes a weird noise like sort of high pitched, not really loud, just something I notice when its running.

I've had it freeze at times and require a manual shutdown.

ALL 3 LEDS are constantly lit up on my mother board (green, blue, orange) as well the temp LCD thing always says "FF".

(I notice the Graphics Card runs default at 25%. Does that ever change with the workload, etc.? I never hear it change when I go in a game or anything. I am pretty sure that was causing the freezing so I used Riva Tuner to change the fan speed to like 70% with gaming, etc.)

I still get a freeze up once in a while. Usually when I have a few programs open after it being on for a little while.

--------------------------------------------------------------------

So basically, what makes it freeze up and make me shut down? It usually makes a weird crazy sound ... Read more

This has actually only happened one time. But, my computer started playing the beginning of the ghostbusters movie. It played the whole theme song after that and then continued with dialog and sounds. I don't even have this movie on my computer. I opened task manager and didn't see anything suspicious (but what do I know?). It may have been an ad...but I didn't see one on the page I was on. Also, I don't think that there would be an ad that advertised the first 3 minutes of the ghostbusters movie. Has anyone else experienced this?

I checked my task manager and saw that no applications were running but when i looked in the processes, internet explorer was running. Id then end the process and the news/music would stop.

I have run scans on my computer and it has found nothing. Im running Vista Ultimate 64 bit, and just recently updated to IE8 yesturday to see if it would fix the problem but it hasn't.

Any idea's?

Hello,I wondered if there was anyone who could help me solve a problem, which has been driving me mad for ages. My PC runs pretty quietly but has a habit of emmitting high-pitch chirps and tones during certain operations. Certain things like scrolling through a DOC or PDF file with the mouse-wheel cause it to start chirping away like a little insect, as does opening web pages. These things would be only minor annoyances to me but the biggest problem comes whenever I use a music sequencer like Cubase or even Wavelab - opening any programme designed to record audio input to the hard-drive causes it to emit quite an audible constant high-pitch tone.I've ruled out the following possible causes:- its not the CPU fan or any other fan, I've stopped them all for a few seconds and the sound is still there.- its not the hard disk, I changed it and the problem continues. Also, the sound does not appear to be coming from the vicinity of the hard disk in the case.- Its not the soundcard, I used it on an older machine and it works just fine.I'm really fed up with this problem. I love PCs and I'd love to be able to use mine again for music but I can't stand this problem anymore. I'm considering buying a Mac for my next upgrade if I can't sort this out. Thanks for your time,AfronautSPEC:AMD 5200+ Dual Core clocked at 2.7GHz2GB DDR2 RAMXFX GeForce 8800 GT clocked at 640MHz, 512MB DDR3E-MU 0404 PCI SoundcardASUS M2NPV-VM Motherboard

Hi, I have 2 issues and not sure if they are related.
1. I am getting random music and sound coming through my laptop, i am not running any programs and even happens when my laptop is closed. its a different sound every time, sometimes traffic, sometimes a girl humming and sometimes like someone chatting on a website and once even sounded like porn. It lasts for about 5 mins.
2. At the same time the sounds started i also started getting problems with IE, error pops up on random pages saying internet explorer has stopped working and then closes the program. It happens more frequent when i try to search why the random sound keeps happening or when i go to tech support sites like this one and try to read posts.

This is the first time i have posted and not sure on what details you need, i did download DDS, and can do that if you require.

My laptop is a Asus k53sd win7 64 bit OS, I7

I have a feeling its a virus of some sort, but i have tried S&D spyware doctor and avg and none have picked it up

Thank you in advance for any assistance

Answer:Random computer sounds

I don't know if your problem is malware related or not, but it sure sounds like it. So let's take a look and see.

Please download HijackThis - this program will help us determine if there are any spyware/malware on your computer. Create a folder at C:\HJT and move HijackThis.exe there. Run a scan and save the log file. Get HijackThis Analyzer and save it to the same folder as the hijackthis.log file. Run HijackThis Analyzer and type in y if you agree. Open up the result.txt file created. Copy the whole result.txt log and post it back here. Do not fix anything in HijackThis since they may be harmless. Make sure to include the System information at the top of the log as well.

Answer:Sounds like computer is trying to start something

Hello ,

when was the last time you cleaned the inside of your tower / case

it could be a fan starting to run faster for your system is getting hot / not saying this is the reason but it could be

when openeing the case pay close attention to the fan that is on the motherboard it has a heatsink for it belongs to the processor and can get pluged / you will need a can of compressed air to clean it out

when you open the case make sure you touch a part of the metal case to destaticize your self or wear rubber gloves to protect your system

make sure you unplug the power cord

hope this helps

Plz Help me. I have this weird virus where if I connect my computer to internet using WiFi, then it will make a weird screaming sound sort of like a rooster but if I disconnect the WiFi connection then it will stop. I work in my garage and the connection is at full because on top of the garage is the WiFi room and the ceiling in the garage has a sound killer. I have tried other online help but nothing I have found useful. I have tried troubleshooting but no problems showed up on the troubleshooter. I currently use a USB WiFi Adapter but I have tried to switch it to Ethernet but it does the same thing. I have also tried to run an antivirus but it wont allow me to do the installation but I have tried using Norton 360 (I always use it) but it says No Problems Found so I don't know what that sound could be. I use Windows 7 Professional 64 bit Service Pack 1

This indicates that the CPU is being fully utilised and has no time to keep the audio flowing. You have a relatively low powered CPU.

Using Task manager, try and see what process is using the most CPU %

Hi everyone,Until a few minutes ago my computer was playing sound files perfectly fine. All of a sudden I can't play any sound anymore. I tried testing Windows sounds in Control Panel -> Sounds and Devices, but an error messages appears which says -"ErrorWindows cannot play the file %systemroot%\media\Windows XP Battery Critical.wav file. It may be damaged or may not be a valid sound file. Replace the file and try again."I'm also unable to hear audio on the Internet and on Windows Media Player / VLC.Any idea what could have gone wrong? Edit: I have a Dell Dimension 9150.

Answer:Can't play sounds on my computer

If you go to start, run, devmgmt.msc do you see any yellow question marks next to your sound drivers? It used to happen to every time I ran windows update on xp, it replaced my drivers with ones that didn't work.

Also the device connect/disconnect sound goes off at least once a day, although nothing is being connected or disconnected. Is there a way to check what program is causing the beeping? So to begin with like the title says my laptop (DELL Inspiron N4010) have no sounds after I update it. I am not sure how this happen because it was working all fine when suddenly it ask me to update my laptop to service pack 1 (and it fail to update several times) so I decided to download it manually from the microsoft website and it was working again but then I installed other updates that was supposedly required.

Answer:Computer sounds on, but doesn't do anything

Power supply, motherboard, and/or CPU(not likely, without the others being messed up real bad and having damaged the CPU) gone bad. Post your specs(part model numbers or the make and model of the PC if it's a factory-built box), also, how old is the system? Does this happen from time to time or every time you try to turn it on?

Hello grreatpop, and welcome to Seven Forums.

You might check to see if you may have Narrator turned on. If so, turning it off should stop this.

Turn off NarratorTo open Narrator click the Start button , and then, in the search box, type Narrator. In the list of results, click Narrator.
Click Control whether Narrator starts when I log on.
Clear the Turn on Narrator and Turn on Audio Description check boxes and click Apply.

Hope this helps,

Hello everyone!

I was erasing unecessary things off my computer and I'm not sure if I accidently erase something that I wasn't suppose to or not. All I know is that my sounds on my computer are not stopped working at all. A few times my computer would say a hardware has been found, but everytime I try to install it, it tells me that the hardware couldn't be found. I went to control panel and my computer says "no active mixer sounds." Nothing happens when I try to update my drivers in the Device Manager. In Sounds and Audio it says "No audio device." My System Restore button won't work either so I can't restore my settings. My computer didn't come with a disk so I can't reinstall the program. I'm not sure if this computer came with a sound card, if it did, I wouldn't know where to look for it. Can anyone tell me if my sound drivers needs to be updated, or could there be a virus on my computer or something. Please someone help me to find what out what happened to my sounds. Thanks

I have a Compaq Presario FS7600
Windows XP Professional.
Model number is SR1503WM

Hello,

Frequently when I wake my computer up from sleep mode, especially if I have been using iTunes or playing music before putting the computer to sleep, the computer will wake up and make crackling noises over the normal sounds it would play. It will still play normal sounds, but the sound is highly distorted by a static, crackling sound. This sound continues to be distorted until I restart my computer, which always fixes the problem temporarily.

I have tried different speakers and headphones, and it is the same problem regardless of these peripherals so I am convinced it is not the speakers. I am wondering if my sound card, itself, might be bad.

I am using Windows 7 on a desktop which I assembled myself. There is a sound card which, I believe, has updated drivers. Sound usually works fine except for these times when the computer wakes from sleep making crackling noises over the normal sounds it would make.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you.

There has been a recent flurry of malware forum postings by individuals seeking help which list some or all of the symptoms in the title of this post.

It seems there is a virus outbreak of a bootkit-type virus that is fixed by re-writing the Master Boot Record (MBR). There appears to be no name for this virus yet and typical malware detection tools do not appear to work in detecting this issue including the one's given in the MajorGeeks post in the Malware forum: READ & RUN ME FIRST. Malware Removal Guide, for XP systems. I run XP. Further, I also run McAfee on my PC, and it is not finding this issue either even after updates were checked and updated to my PC. Also I tried SpyBot-Search and Destroy and it does not work either.

Hopefully, Anit-Virus (AV) sw will catch up to this nasty bootkit type virus very soon. Note that my research on the internet indicates that bootkit viruses have not been the focus of AV sw for years since these type of attacks have lost favor for many years by virus writers. Research shows that these type of viruses were very popular when viruses first were built many years ago in the early 1990's, but then lost favor to other less complex exploits, but it is anticipated that these type of viruses are gaining favor again since they are very powerful and have the capability to be extremely malicious.

Not true. It has been given several names. The most common are Black Internet and Whistler which MBRCheck will even tell you. BootKit Remover does not detect the infection by name and also does not even recognize some valid MBRs. It sometimes reports valid MBRs as unknown.

Not really true, because there have been several forms of this infections. The first forms were easily seen in the logs and were even detected by Malwarebytes. The newer forms while not clearly detected by a novice nor are they point out by tools like SAS and MBAM but it is point out to us by reviewing the logs from MGtools. This and the symptoms easily tell us what the infection is. Also a recent update to ComboFix has also been sometimes able to indicate the Black Internet infected MBR.

Ok so I have a simple, but annoying problem. I have no Windows Sound Events like the login sound, the logout sound, and when the battery is low. Every other sound like playing music and running YouTube videos work fine. Even when I turn on my laptop I hear the whole computer startup sound, but I don't hear the login one. I don't understand the problem. I went into personilazation and went to Windows Sounds, but when I select one and click "Play" I don't hear anything. I tried the other Sound Themes and they don't work either. I ran the Fix It program for Audio, and it didn't find anything wrong.

Hello...I am hoping someone can help me with this. I have a Dell Dimension 4700 (desktop), Windows XP. Recently, the tower has begun often sounding as though the computer is turning itself off but nothing seems to happen--i.e., the computer remains on and nothing unusual seems to happen on the screen either. Sometimes it will be just one isolated occurance...but has been happening more frequently recently...sometimes several times in a row. (Sounds like someone keeps pushing the power button to turn it on or off.) THere doesn't seem to be a pattern to when it might happen. Sometimes it happens when the computer has been on but I have not been using it. I might be across the room and suddenly hear the power button blip over and over, but when I check the computer...it is still on and the screen seems fine and nothing has been lost. It just happened again while I was typing this...but there was no disruption on the screen. I searched this problem and saw that others have had a problems with their computers suddenly turning off...but did not see any instances where the computer actually remains on and only SOUNDs as though it is turning off. Does anyone know what this could be and what I should do? I am hoping it is not the hard drive. THank you so much for your help!

Hi all I am getting a very strange sound from inside my comptuer.
I have a picture open and when i zoom in and out on the picture is makes a wierd sound .. like from the proccessor... it is very strange and it is making me think i should have stuck with intel.. anyone have any idea why it is making this noise
also i used to have an intel p3 1000mhz and i switched my whole computer over to amd and this amd seems to be running like crap and way slower then the intel ... i think this proccessor is no good or maybee amd is not good but i dont know

    Answer:Strange sounds from inside computer

the sound is from interference from the processor to the soundcard. happens on intel systems too. if u have good speakers with good builtin amplifiers, turn their (the speaker's) volume to two-thirds of the maximum. then turn ur windows volume all the way down to the minimum, then take it up to a comfortable level. if u hear the interference sound again, lower the windows volume until you dont. this should fix it

btw, amds are much better performers, and have better bang for buck. stick with AMD from now on

    Hello,

My computer has been crashing recently and i don't know why. It seems to be most frequent when i open a program quickly after logging on but it's only the case about 70% of the times.

The crashing is always in 3 steps:

    - ticking sounds for about a minute where my mouse is able to move on the screne but nothing responds
    - Blue screen error message which says:
"A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer. A process of thread crucial to system operation has unexpectedly - or been terminted. If this is the first time you've seen this stop error screen, restart your computer. If this screen appears again follow these steps: chek to make sure any new hardware or software is properly installed ...
If problems continue, disable or remove any newly installed hardware. Disable eror memory option such as caching or shadowing. ...

    - computer turns off

When i turn my computer on, it asks me to turn it on on safe mode or not, if i say no, sometimes it happens again (up to 2 times) sometimes no.

If anyone has any ideas as to how i could solve ths problem i would be grateful (knowing that I have no knowledge on computers, just had the idea of filming the crash so i could read the blue sceen that only comes on for a second).

    Answer:Computer crash after ticking sounds

We do need the DMP file as it contains the only record of the sequence of events leading up to the crash, what drivers were loaded, and what was responsible.
Please attach the DMP files to your next post not to post one.

    If you are overclocking STOP

You may be able to get the DMP files without crashing by booting into safe mode (F8) with networking.

To enable us to assist you with your computer's BSOD symptoms, upload the contents of your "\Windows\Minidump" folder. If empty (or non existent) please look in the following folders. C:\windows (the dmp should be called memory.dmp), and C:\windows\LiveKernelReports\Watchdog.

    The procedure:

    Quote:
    * Copy the contents of \Windows\Minidump to another (temporary) location somewhere on your machine.
    * Zip up the copy.
    * Attach the ZIP archive to your post using the "paperclip" (file attachments) button.
*If the files are too large please upload them to a file sharing service like "Rapidshare" and put a link to them in your reply.

    To ensure minidumps are enabled:

    Quote:
    * Go to Start, in the Search Box type: sysdm.cpl, press Enter.
    * Under the Advanced tab, click on the Startup and Recovery Settings... button.
    * Ensure that Automatically restart is unchecked.
    * Under the Write Debugging Information header select Small memory dump (256 kB) in the dropdown box (the 256kb varies).

I have had this problem twice now. Its happened after power outages. After a power outage, I have been getting distorted sound in streaming media anytime a program that connects to the internet loads. Distortions being echo effect and slowing down in play back the entire computer also slows down when this takes place. Thus far I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling/updating web browsers. Disk clean and defragmentation and system restore. Driver updates and reinstalls. I have even resorted to using SystemMechanic to try locate and clean any problems. Hopefully someone here will be able to shed some light on the problem before I have to resort to reformating the HD and reinstalling the OS.

Answer:XP Distorted Sounds and lagging computer

Whenever I burn a CD/DVD, my computer's audio becomes choppy, slow, and distorted. This is not just with one application. All sounds from any applications making sounds will be distorted. This not only occurs with my built in Sony DVD-RW drive, but also if I'm burning a DVD in an external optical drive. Although DVD/CD burning does drive up my CPU usage, the highest I've seen it ever get during a burning session was in the 70% range, but it usually stays below 60% during a CD/DVD burn, so this could probably not be the result of my CPU being overloaded. I have Windows XP, a Sony DVD-RW drive, and Realtek HD Sound Card. Could anyone help me? Thanks.

Answer:All computer sounds distorted when burning a CD/DVD

Rule of thumb is that while burning any CD or DVD, you should not use the PC for anything else.

If the CPU is not 100% dedicated to the task of burning, a coaster will result.
The "buffering" the PC burning software does is also to reserve most of the CPU resource for the task of burning, as it cannot afford to miss one byte of info, the disk will not wait for it to catch up. Hence to act of decoding audio etc has a very low priority.

I have a laptop. Whenever i plug speakers (especially evident with headphones) i can hear the buzzing and beeping of, i guess, computer processes happening.

For instance, when i minimize or maximize a window, i'll hear a "bzzzzz" of the shrinking and growing.

When i download something, i'll hear short "bzz-bzz-bzz" sounds of what i assume is the data being written to disk.

When i move the mouse cursor, it makes "bzzzzzzzzzz" noises as well.

I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the audio driver. All i know is that it's extremely annoying when i have to use headphones (which is often).

If there's anything you need to know, just let me know where i can find the info and i'll be happy to post it if it'll help you help me!

I just can't take this anymore!!

    EDIT:

I have just noticed that when i play this gif from a website (http://www.lostpedia.com/wiki/Image:Turbine_Explosion.gif) the annoying buzzing sounds disappear. What is up with this?!

I am using a Dell Dimension E310 and have lost my sound.

I posted this to the XP forum and we exhauted all ideals from there.

From all appearances the speakers work. I borrowed some speakers and these did not work either.

Right before I lost my sound I had installed more RAM. The other forum said this would not have affect on the sound.

    Any help is appreciated.

    Answer:Solved: No sounds from computer/speakers

Once you know that the speakers work (test them on another computer) and that the volume is turned up on the pc, make sure in your bios that onboard sound is indeed enabled (if its onboard sound you're using)

I would also click the start button > run > type dxdiag and check the sound tabs. See if there is indeed a driver installed.

Go to your control panel, sounds and audio devices. Check to see that you have your speaker settings set to desktop speakers if thats what you're using, do that by clicking speaker settings and clicking advanced.

Click the audio tab and make sure that the sound playback is set to the correct audio device.

Click start > run > type services.msc, scroll down to windows audio, make sure that it is started and set to automatic.

Thats all I can think of off the top of my head right now. Try those out and let me know how it goes.

    Answer:Computer makes sounds..but there is a twist!!!!

    hello ,

you need to back up all your important data

that is the sound of a harddrive getting ready to die

you may be on the verge of loosing everything to a harddrive failure / you will then need to install a new one and all the software

do your back ups then get back to us

I can't seem to figure this one out. It seems that my computer is randomly playing sounds for no reason. It's not always the same sound either. I've heard a baseball bat, a ding, a lion roar, a couple of opening bars of songs (One being Start Me Up by the Rolling Stones and the other I believe being by Ashanti), and a few other that I can't really describe.

I originally posted this in the malware forum but they saw nothing and suggested posting it here.

    Answer:Computer plays sounds at Random

It has to be a program running in the background. Disable everything you don't really need and see if the problem persists. If it does, post a list of all your running applications (that is, make a screenshot of the processes tab in the task manager).
When do you hear this sounds? All the time or when browsing the internet?

    Hello Gang,

I could really use a hand!

    1st system:

    MB- K7 Triton
    CPU- Athlon 1.3Ghz
    Ram- 608 Mb
OS- Win XP Home (service pak 2 recently installed)
    AV- Mcafee

After recently installing service pak 2, my keyboard has gone berserk. When I type B, the system speaker sounds, and i can not make it stop doing this. When I first had the problem, if i typed t then outlook would open up, and f opened the search window. I looked up registry settings and changed a couple keys, and this stopped the f and t functions, but not the b function.

Now however there seems to be other problems with my keyboard functionality. Sometimes while typing online, in an editor, on forumns (such as this one), I am kidnapped from whatever i am tryin to do, and and sent other places. Sometimes its my hompeage, in this forumn it deleted about half this message and i had to start over.

I have also cleaned my keyboard to make sure that the ctrl and alt buttons were not sticking, to no avail.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Hi, i have been having trouble with my computer, op system is Vista, the DVD drive was not always recognised by the computer, when it was recognised it would sometimes drop out when in use, if buring a file it would then fail. After trying many suggested fixes i have now done a clean reload of Vista but for some reason i now do not have any sound, no system sounds and no sounds from DVD or music. Have checked everything obvious, connections, different speakers (3 sets) but still no sound. If you check the speaker settings while playing music you can see that there is sound (in there somewhere) as the visual bar fluctuates with the music.

Ap[preciate any help anyone may be able to provide.

    Thanks you
    Tony

My computer has always been noisey compared to others I've listened to. A friend put it together for me. I know next to nothing about one. I have a Maxtor hard drive 80g. windows xp. 512mbs ram, pentium4 processor. I'm not sure what else I need to tell what's on it. The problem is this, It sounds as if I have a cd starting up and then slowing down. It's extremely slow. When I reboot it takes a full five minutes. I've only got about 6gigs used on it. Is there something I can do to make the thing be quite and speed up. I have a dial up modem so I know that's always going to be slow. Thanks in advance. Touk

Hi, First, I have to say, I'm a newbie to the computer, Ok, well actually almost a year. I was just starting to get comfortable with things, now something new developed :cry. For the Past few days, it sounds as though my computer is running. Driver maybe?? I dunno. I was running a security scan with Norton, and...it was still running about 350,000 plus files where normally its cleaned at about 150,000 something files. Sorry, I don't know the termonalogy. Its the best I can describe it. Someone please help.

Answer:My computer sounds like it is running continuously.

It may be your cooling fan running , as this has started about the time the weather has gotten warmer. Go to Start>Control Panel>Power Options and set your your monitor and hard drive to turn off after a period of time you consider good. I have mine set at: monitor=15 mins, HHD=20 mins. (Use what feels right to you) Also set your system to go into stand by. Mine=30mins. See if that stops the continous running sounds.

I was running a security scan with Norton,Click to expand...

If you mean your Anti-virus scannner, all i can say is Norton is not my favorite. Being you are kind of new to things you might want to start another thread on how to replace that with another AV application.(Norton is a little tricky to remove)
    And welcome to MajorGeeks :wave
