Solved: task manager menus missing

Question: Solved: task manager menus missing

This is curious. I finally have the time to post an inquiry.

Back in December, I went to open my Windows Task Manager (a program had froze), and I noticed that the menu tabs at the top were missing. I don't know why or how this happened. Is there anyway to get them back?
I've included a screen shot (I hope that worked anyway) of how it displays now. Fortunately I figured out that by hitting the Esc key, the task manager window will close.

Preferred Solution: Solved: task manager menus missing

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer:[SOLVED] no menus on task manager

Hi mephistophilus !

That can seem strange but actually it's not harmfull at all. All you have to do is double-click the window border and it'll be back to normal. You probably double-clicked it by accident.

I've been running XP Home for a while now (with no problems) and have just noticed something weird. When I do a CTRL ALT DEL to bring up task manager I have no menus. I just get a resizable box with a list of apps running. No "file option view help" menu and no "apps processes performance networking" menu. The only buttones i've got are the ones on the bottom (switch task etc.)Does anyone know what is going on. I cant find any reference to being able to swith the menus on or off. and at the moment I have no way of seeing what processes are running.

I can open Task Manager but it doesn't say "Task Manager" at the top or have the red X to close or the menus (File, Shut Down, etc.) It also doesn't have the processes tab but it has the three buttons at the bottom. Does anything in my HijackThis log suggest what might be doing this or anything else I should fix? Thanks very much for any help you can give.

Hi all, I have an unusual problem I'm hoping someone can help me with. I noticed a couple of days ago that I can't access the task manager anymore, if I hit ctrl+alt+del it used to come up with a menu and it was one of the choices, now it's gone, if I hit ctrl+alt+esc, the new keyboard shortcut, nothing happens. I'm also missing the run command in the start menu, if I use the keyboard shortcut for that i get an error message saying "This operation has been cancelled due to restrictions on this computer. Please contact your system administrator". I'm also missing the Shutdown and Restart buttons on the start menu the Shutdown button is now a lock button. Any idea why this is happening? Thanks in advance

Whenever I start Task Manager, it looks different than it has in the past. There is no File, etc. menu, no processes to view, no task bar (I believe that's what you call it). Screen shot is attached.

I've tried multiple restarts
Right clicking only gives me the option "New Task (Run...)"
Pressing Alt doesn't do anything

Any ideas on how to get the "normal" Task Manager back? Preferably without changing the registry.

I was helping a friend remove some software from his computer, and when I had Task Manager open, must have hit some unknown key or something, because the title and menu bars permanently disappeared from Task Manager. When you open it, all you have is a frame, but no way to close or minimize it using the "X" or "-" in the title bar; have to use Alt/F4. Tried turning computer off then back on, but didn't correct the problem.

I've used computers since 1980, and have never seen this happen. What caused the bars to disappear and how does one get them back?

Answer:Solved: Title and Menu Bar missing in Task Manager

Just double click on the border near the top, that will fix it.

Edit. You can double-click anywhere on the border, all you did was toggle minimal view.

Hi, I've got a slightly odd issue.
I've recently built a new pc (hp dc7800) with XP and office 2007 - the problem I have is that after about 24 hours of use (well left on over night) i wont be able to get any context menus or see the performance tab in the task maniger if it loads at all.
Closing a window usualy lets it work for a short period before it happens again.

The pc is a E6550 with 2gb of ram which should be more than enough memory.

Hi .

Tried running chkdsk /r from the Start/Run window?

If not, try it and make sure that there is a space between the k and /.

I'm surprised every day by the number of issues that running this command will resolve.

All my usual startup icons have disappeared from the taskbar and no end of reboots have made any difference. I have checked the drive for errors and none were found. I have tried TaskbarRepairToolPlus! without success. Anybody any clues as to how to restore them? Oh, more seriously, I cannot access Task Manager. Maybe related, I don't know. A dialogue says it has been disabled by my administrator. This is my own PC, I don't even know how to log on as administrator! Any help much appreciated.

I logged into my computer this morning and the screen was blue, although I could still see my house and move it around. I can also do Ctrl Alt Delete to access the Task Manager when I don't see the explorer.exe. I know its supposed to be there but its not, I tried to manually start it by going to file new task and running it but it only runs for maybe 10 seconds? enough to see the icons on the desktop and the task bar, then they disappear. I searched online for a few answers but no real help. Im using another PC because I cant access the internet with my laptop that is have the problems. I was able to run hijackthis and put it on a thumb drive so I could post it here.

When I press ctrl-alt-delete to bring up task manager, it isn't there. I thought it had been disabled, and tried this:

* Click Start
* Click Run
* Enter gpedit.msc in the Open box and click OK
* In the Group Policy settings window
o Select User Configuration
o Select Administrative Templates
o Select System
o Select Ctrl+Alt+Delete options
o Select Remove Task Manager
o Double-click the Remove Task Manager option

And as I mentioned above, since the policy is Remove Task Manager, by disabling the policy, you are enabling the Task Manager. (From the site)

When I click OK on step three, it says "Windows cannot find 'gpedit.msc'. Make sure you typed in the name correctly, and then try again. To search for a file, click the Start button, and then press Search."

I have Windows XP. Any help would be wonderful.

lock this computer
switch user
log off
change password

That's all that comes up on the screen
Win7 home edition 64 bit
It worked fine just a few days ago.

Got it working again. Had to do a sys restore to a week ago. Also ctrl-shift-esc works again too. A little strange, but the only things that system restore showed being recently installed was a few critical updates. So I guess I'll just have to wait till Tuesday to see if it messes up again......sigh

>> Re: Missing Task Manager while using Windows XP <<

I had this same exact problem (when I was using Windows XP) and was able to resolve it by downloading and running the REG fix at the Ramesh Srinivasan site using Method 2 at the following website URL:

Error Message: "Task Manager has been disabled by your administrator"

Important Side Note: If this restriction was enabled in your system without you doing anything or without your knowledge, then it's highly likely that a Virus has blocked the usage of Task Manager in your system by enabling the DisableTaskMgr policy via the registry. If this is the case; most definitely you should run a full scan of your entire computer using your antivirus.

Good Luck?

Your son is what we commonly call a Spyware Collector. He has a load of problems.

First go to Add/Remove programs and uninstall
Viewpoint Manager
Viewpoint Toolbar
Kazaa or Kazaa K++
P2P Networking
Grokster or Grokster Wiseupdt

And also consider uninstalling (and not using the other P2P applications) like Ares Lite. Many of your sons problems more than likely came from downloading using these P2P applications.

Now run this to remove more of the malware Kazaa has installed: Kazaa Spyware Removal

Do you know what the below is:
C:\Program Files\Philips\Philips Lime Service\bin\LimeAlive.exe

Hey everyone I have a bit of a troubling problem. For some odd reason, my computer is not displaying red at all...except for the monitor menus. I have narrowed it down to some type of connection problem or a motherboard problem by eliminating possibilities. I tried a second monitor and still had issues. Any advice on how to proceed? Before the complete loss of red, it would flicker on and off for a while (2 days before). I tried cleaning out the inside of the case, restoring my computer to a month before, reinstalling the video card drivers, restoring all the monitor settings to the original ones, tweaking the actual video color settings. So, if any of you have any ideas how to go forward, it would help a lot. Thanks beforehand.

This happened randomly one day a while ago, but it's really starting to bug me. One of my games crashed, so I activated the task manager to end it. You've switched it to Mini mode. Double click anywhere in the frame, just inside the outer edge to restore it to normal. Just to the left of the button at the bottom if on the Application or Process tab is a handy spot.

Hopefully a simple (not dumb) question: Where, exactly, is the 'Shut Down' button/option in Task Manager?

Any logic in removing the option for every Windows user's most frequently used 'Task'?

And, yes I know there's still Ctl+Alt+Delete.

This became a non-trivial issue when opening Media Center blacked out my whole desktop, with only a white cursor showing. Normal windows commands were inaccessible, since I couldn't access Start menu or Task Bar functions; only selecting another program via "Bring to Front" in Task Manager returned control.

Appreciate any insights

hi, my friend has recently got a trojan virus, he has used a anti virus software to remove it, there is now no trace of the virus. However he cant access the windows task manager now, as it only stays open for a few seconds. Is there anyway to enable this again? if so how wud u do it?cheers

Answer:missing windows task manager

If Task manager stays open for a few seconds and disappears, then some remnant of the virus is still there. There are different viruses which do similar things, does your friend know which virus it was?Which version of Windows is it?Can your friend run msconfig and regedit?Get your friend to update his virus definitions. Boot into Safe Mode and run the scan again (scanning all files). If the antivirus makes no difference, you'll have to do it manually. You have to enable Explorer to show all files first. In My Computer or Explorer, click Tools, Folder Options, View tab, (1) Tick show all hidden files and folders (2) Untick "Hide file extensions for known file types". Click OK.Go to the C:\WINDOWS\system32 folder, find a copy of taskmgr.exe, make a copy, and rename the copy to taskmgr.comDo the same with msconfig.exe and regedit.exe.Double click to see if it will stay open. Try to find any process running which might be the virus. Note down the name of the file that is running.Double click, look under the Startup tab, and see what's there. If you see a Winsock 2 driver, note down the path on the right. It may not be winsock 2 but something else. It's probably a Run Once entry in the registry.Post back if the new virus scan doesn't make any difference.

I recently got a Dell Pentium 3 laptop. At first the task manager was normal, but now it is just the list of processes with username, memory use, and cpu use, and the end process button at the bottom. There is no border, and there are no tabs at the top. It has a mouse cursor that activates by hovering without clicking. So sometimes things happen that I don't expect or intend, but I have no idea how the task manager changed.

Answer:missing part of task manager

Double click on one of the borders or edges of task manager, you should get back all your tabsgood luck

Ok this is going to sound weird. But when going to task manager, look at the bottom button where it says Show all windows processes, or something like that. Notice it's missing an S on Show or hiding. Even when expanding the windows, it still does that. Why?

Have you changed the system fonts/font size, or uninstalled any fonts? If not, then I'd guess that this is just a "feature" of windows.

Anybody know how to solve this? My task manager is missing. If i press ctrl-alt-del, usually there is a menu that contain:
-Lock this computer
-switch user
-log off
-change a password...
-task manager
But now the Task Manager is missing! I don't know why! My computer is not just used by me, my brother and mother usually used it. I ask them but they said they don't know. Then is tried to search the task manager from 'start'. There is "View running process with Task Manager". I click it, but then show up a letter "Task manager has been disabled by your administrator."
Is anybody know what the problem is and how to solve it?

I am running Windows XP Pro SP2
Intel Pentium 4 2.8Ghz, 512MB RAM
MB-embedded graphics & audio (Intel D845GVSR board)

Just discovered that Ctrl+Alt+Del brings up a window labeled "Local Area Connection" instead of the Task Manager. I have attached a screen shot of this app, in its the actual size. Can someone tell me what happened to my Task Manager?

The last major thing I did was flashing the BIOS on my Intel D845GVSR motherboard with the latest update this afternoon. Immediately following the update (upon restart), I received a number of Windows errors (those ones that ask you if you wanna send a report over to Microsoft), but I ignored them, and they have not returned since (I restarted several times). However, this is rather strange and I am wondering if something else got messed up as well. Is there a way to roll the BIOS back to its original version?

This is where I got the BIOS update:

If someone can help me I'd greatly appreciate it. Thanks!

Lately I've been running my antivirus and it detected a worm/VB.ASD and a Trojan horse downloader.Generic3.QQD thing. It was put on the Virus vault and I expected my pc to be running good again. But just yesterday, when I tried to access my Task manager using the ctrl+alt+delete command, it just returned an error message saying "Task manager has been disabled by your Administrator". In addition to that I can't find my RUN command on the start menu. Plus I can't customize my home page eventhough I try to reset my web settings >_<

Do I have to format my PC or is there anything I can do to revive it?? please help me

I have attached some screenies of what happened:

1. On the 1st screeny, these are the viruses detected by my antivirus. It is already on the virus vault.

2. On the 2nd screeny, pressing ctrl+alt+delete will return this error message.

3. On the last attachment, is the Internet options box, wherein you can see that the home page setting can't customized.

I do hope you can help me guys!!!

Put a check by Create a desktop icon then click Next again.
Continue to follow the rest of the prompts from there.
At the final dialogue box click Finish and it will launch Hijack This.

Welcome to Major Geeks!

Malware may be the cause, so:

Please follow the instructions in the below link and attach the requested logs when you finish these instructions.

If something does not run, write down the info to explain to us later but keep on going.

Do not assume that because one step does not work that they all will not.

READ & RUN ME FIRST. Malware Removal Guide

1. If you run into problems trying to run the READ & RUN ME or any of the scans in normal boot mode. You can running steps in safe boot mode but make sure you tell us what you did later when you post logs. See the below if you do not know how to boot in safe mode:

Starting your computer in Safe mode

2. If you have problems downloading on the problem PC, download the tools on another PC and burn to a CD. Then copy them to the problem PC. You will have to skip getting updates if (and only if) your internet connection does not work. Yes you could use a flash drive too but flash drives are writeable and infections can spread to them.

Hello viclim and welcome to the BC HijackThis forum. If the laptop is on a domain you should contact the domain administrator regarding the Task Manager issues there. The administrator might have disabled that for the network users. For the desktop, please post a HijackThis log and the specific issues that relate to just the desktop. I will review the information for that one when it comes in.Also, make sure that HijackThis is not being run from the temp folders or from within the archive file by following these directions:ImportantYour copy of HijackThis needs to be in a folder of it's own. If it is run from Temporary folders the backups and HijackThis itself could be accidentally deleted if the Temporary folders are cleaned. If it is run from the desktop then the backup files and folders can clutter up the desktop and be accidentally deleted. If it is run from inside a compressed file then the backups are not created at all. Please open My ComputerDouble-click on Local Disk (C:)Click on the File menu, point to New and then click on Folder. Name the folder 'HijackThis' or 'HJT'.Unzip to or copy and paste HijackThis.exe to the new folder (do not run HijackThis directly out of the sfx or compressed file).Cheers.OT

Hello everyone,

I've got a very minor problem regarding Task Manager in Windows 8. Under the 'Options' menu in the Menu Bar, I am missing an entry which allows you to Enable/Disable whether the Full Name (which you can give to User accounts via Computer Management > Local Users and Groups > Users) of User accounts is displayed next to their account name (which you give when you create a new User account). If you enable this, the full name of the User account is then displayed beside the Account name in the 'Users' Tab in Task Manager.

For example: You make a new User account called 'Johnny' but you give the account a full name as 'John Smith'. Under the 'Users' tab in Task Manager, the name 'Johnny' is displayed. If you enable showing the full name, it then says in Task Manager: 'Johnny (John Smith)'.

I believe the Option to enable/disable this in Task Manager is called 'Show Full Account Name' or something similar to that (I can't check as I don't have the option in my Task Manager anymore). This is not the first time the entry has disappeared from Task Manager for me. I left my computer alone with only firefox open, was not in the process of downloading anything. When I woke it up, everything on my desktop but the My Computer Icon and the root user folder were missing and they are both empty. I was unable to start task manager (which I have since fixed). I have tried scanning with Avira, Ad-Aware, Spybot and Advanced SystemCare, all of which have produced no results. I am also now trying the RRT Sregiwa Antiviral Tool.

Any help would be much appreciated!

I am having an annoying little problem with my taskmanager ever since I reinstalled XP. It is missing all tabs, pages, menu, etc.
When I CTRL+ALT+DEL it pops up with only one page. The only way to close it is to kill it in the task manager process list or rightclick on it in the system tray. This is driving me crazy as I use it often to troubleshoot. Here is a screenshot of what it looks like if it will help diagnose.

Okay, I was stupid and downloaded something bad.
This is my fault I know.
And I'm kind of scared to attempt anything by myself so I need help.

EVERY few minutes pop-ups open in Internet Explorer.
If I close them they still come back.
TASK Manager is disabled.
I don't have a RUN command.
I don't have SHUT DOWN or RESTART commands.
In my start-up folder I found two shortcuts...
I traced one back to my temp folder, and wiped that clean, and deleted the shortcut.
THE OTHER led me back to system32 folder and it did not permit me access so I could not delete the second shortcut.
I did a virus scan which revealed a lot, but the main problems persist.
The pop-ups seem to copy whatever I type and search for it through a search engine.
The VERY first time I restarted my computer, I saw an internet explorer window, with an unknown IP address.
I was scared I was being hacked or something, so I closed it, and haven't seen it since.

I understand nobody HAS to help me, and I'm sorry for wasting anyone's time, but I'm on a strict time limit. And speed is much appreciated.
Thanks to anyone who got this far.
And I'll try to keep this as helpful as I can.
I have windows XP.

Hello Kalestrophic and welcome to TSG. You've collected a couple of big ones here, let's get 'er done.

Please download VundoFix.exe to your desktop

Double-click VundoFix.exe to run it.
Click the Scan for Vundo button.
Once it's done scanning, click the Remove Vundo button.
You will receive a prompt asking if you want to remove the files, click YES
Once you click yes, your desktop will go blank as it starts removing Vundo.
When completed, it will prompt that it will reboot your computer, click OK.
Please post the contents of C:\vundofix.txt and a new HiJackThis log in a reply to this thread.
Note: It is possible that VundoFix encountered a file it could not remove. In this case, VundoFix will run on reboot, simply follow the above instructions starting from "Click the Scan for Vundo button" when VundoFix appears upon rebooting.

That's one. Next:
Please download SmitfraudFix (by S!Ri) to your Desktop.

Double-click SmitfraudFix.exe
Select option #1 - Search by typing 1 and press "Enter"; a text file will appear, which lists infected files (if present).
Please copy/paste the content of that report into your next reply.

**If the tool fails to launch from the Desktop, please move SmitfraudFix.exe directly to the root of the system drive (usually C:), and launch from there.
Note : process.exe is detected by some antivirus programs (AntiVir, Dr.Web, Kaspersky) as a "RiskTool"; it is not a virus, but a program used to stop ... Read more

I run NT Server 4.0 SP6a on a DELL 2400 poweredge. Recently I noted my task manager is only displaying tasks running and the bottom menu bar. All the top tabs are missing. I cannot do any functions other than observe what applications are running. I have not done anything unusual other than install Norton 2001 Anti Virus. (I have tried uninstall the Norton Anti Virus, but my task manager is still incomplete). Please help I am at a total loss. Also I tried replacing the taskmanager.exe from the backup server...still no change

I do not want to reinstall!!!

Answer:{Advice Offered} - NT Task Manager Missing Functions

You may need to perform a parallel install to fix this. You will need to install NT4 server to a new folder (i.e. winnt2), then load the service pack (same as the current install). If you have a Novell client, you will need to load this, otherwise, you do not need to load networking during the install. From the new install, set explorer to view all files and copy all the files in the system32 folder over the old install. Then copy the files from system32\drivers folder over the old install. Do not copy the sub-folders. Then reboot, choose the original install from boot.ini (new install on top) and see if task manager works. If it does, edit boot.ini to remove the new pointers and change the default back to winnt and delete winnt2. I would test several functions before deleting the new install, but it usually works like a charm.

I am a noob in this forum and this is my first post and I apologize if I inadvertently violate any posting rules.
My problem is that I cannot Access Task Manager and Regedit is Missing and I cannot Run DDS Tool in my computer to comply with the requirements in this forum.
I use a pretty old laptop - IBM ThinkPad T41 - but I still get things done with it and would like to continue using it for my current needs and requirements.
I am having problems accessing the task manager, and when I run the taskmgr.exe I get the prompt response "Windows cannot find 'taskmgr.exe'. Make sure you typed the name correctly, and then try again. To search for a file, click the Start button, and then click Search." Alternatively, I tried running regedit.exe and I got this error message - "regedit.exe - Unable to Locate Component - This application has failed to start because ACLUI.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix the problem."
I have already ran MBAM and Avast Free Antivirus to see if I can solve the problem. Got clean results with Avast but caught several issues while running MBAM. I took the initiative of posting snippets of the 3 MBAM logs that were generated from the 4 MBAM scans I did today for your reference.

Here's the problem: I start my computer, it boots like normally. I get to the welcome screen and I login to my user account, it continues to load properly. My wallpaper loads, then i get a message "Unable to start application, WINNINET.DLL is missing", so i try task manager like some posts suggested, then i get "task manager has been disabled by system administrator." I tried rebooting in safe mode as well with no result.

I have windows xp home edition. I do not have the OS installation disk.

All this happened after I ran Ewido Anti-Malware and deleted the infected files.

Please help

I try to open C: or when the computer starts it says boot.exe is missing, and every time i try to open task manager nothing happens.

Answer:Boot.exe missing, task manager wont work

Welcome to, please follow our standard cleaning procedures:

Run ALL the steps in this Sticky thread READ & RUN ME FIRST Before Asking for Support

Make sure you check version numbers and get all updates.
Very Important: Make sure you tell us the results from running the tutorial...was anything found? Were you unable to complete any of the scans?...Were you unable to download any of the tools?...Did you do the on-line scans as suggested? etc.

After doing ALL of the above and you still have a problem, make sure you have booted to normal mode and run the steps in the below thread to properly use HijackThis and attach the log:

Downloading, Installing, and Running HijackThis

Make sure you also rename HijackThis.exe as suggested in the procedures. Use analyse.exe for the new name. This is very important due to some new infections going around..
When you return to make your next post, make sure you attach the following logs and that you have run these scans in the following order too:
CounterSpy Log - only for Windows XP, 2K, & NT users
AVG Antispyware Log - ONLY IF NEEDED you were not able to run CounterSpy. - only for Windows XP, 2K, & NT users
Bitdefender Log - from step 6
Panda Scan Log - from step 6
runkeys.txt - the log from GetRunKey.bat
newfiles.txt - the log from ShowNew.bat
HijackThis Log
NOTE: You can only attach 3 files in a single message so it will require that you use two messages to attach all of these logs!

This machine is a hand me down, and no install disks are available. Has valid COA sticker.
In addition to the symptoms I will describe, I would appreciate the following questions answered, and it may help others in their search.

1. Is Windows Media Center Edition 2005 an enhanced XP Home or Pro?

2. Can a slipstreamed XP Home or Pro be used as a recovery disk?

3. How to enable RAID array in mirror mode using a windows boot disk recovery console. I have XP Home, PRO original disks plus slipsteam versions of sp2 and sp3 available.

Windows does not recognize any drives when trying to run recovery console off the cd.

Ok, symptoms. User was running the machine when it blinked, and maybe froze, but he restarted it.
User login screen comes up, 4 users I a couple with no password needed.

Desktop appears to load, but all that is available is the background picture and mouse pointer.
Cannot get into task manager, ignores any attempt, no error message.

Safe mode loads just a black screen with safe mode in the corners, again with ctrl-alt-del ignored, no task manager.

If I try to run sfc /scannow, I get error to effect service not available.

Tried safe mode command prompt, was able to initiate chkdsk /f, on restart, in which it found and corrected a large amount of errors.

Ran a PCLinuxOS remastered Livecd with an updated KLAMAV virus check, it found nothing substantial, just broken executables and encryped zip files.

Ran independent drive tests, found no bad secto... Read more

Normally, when I open My Computer and any folder within Windows XP Explorer, there is on the left side of the folder a series of menus, including Create New Folder, Rename Folder, plus towards the bottom left a place where photos are previewed (a preview panel). Well, suddenly, during some of my tweaks, this left side of the folders is missing! The folder simply has a list of the folders. I have looked in the Tools section but cannot find how to restore this left blue panel with all the shortcuts and info.

I have attached a screenshot that shows what I am referring to.

Please, someone, can you help me! This is a most useful tool that is now missing!

Task Manager and Control Panel missing, unable to edit registry. The PC just wants to download more and more "malware fixers". I believe that it succeeded in downloading a couple of programs before I shut down internet access to the PC. It appears to have loaded the bad stuff into the c:\documents and settings\Administrator\local settings\temp folder. I tried to delete the executable called "lovtecwmq.exe" but cannot. I tried to google this program with no luck. In any case, here is the Hijack log:

thanks in advance for reading this topic ( seems theres a lot of new topics around hehe).

A few days ago i had a virus redirecting me to after google results.
I then used malwarebytes to remove this virus and it was dealt with. But im beginning to doubt now.

Today after some intensive webbrowsing, i closed some windows. After i closed all of them there was a message from java flashing in my screen and disappearing again ( i didn't click anything).
Chrome.exe then froze up and i wanted to close it by killing the proces in task manager, just to find out that i didn't have the autority to use taskmanager anymore ( im admin of this laptop so that's weird to say the least).

i then rebooted and turned off my router to make sure it wouldn't connect to the internet after reboot.
I got a dialog saying a file was missing. "yvJQeNCfpv.dll" i got this error from several .exe's according to the title area in top. Including: googleUpdater.exe, chrome.exe, safari.exe, arcotray.exe.

Then i came to the conclusion that task manager was still disabled. So i ran malwarebytes. No results.
Then i donwloaded hitman pro 3.5 and ran it. And there was a HUGE amount of spyware. malware, trojans and tracking cookies placed in quarantine or removed, the log of wich is quite long and the upload function for attachments aint working. If you are interested ill post it in a message on this board.
