a non-valid Win32 application

Question: a non-valid Win32 application

I am trying to install a program and the setup file won't run. I get a message that says "Setup.exe is not a valid WIn32 application."

I've scanned it and it contains no viruses and I'm not sure why it won't run. Does anyone have any ideas?

Preferred Solution: a non-valid Win32 application

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: a non-valid Win32 application

It may be damaged or it's possible that the file is not really "setup.exe" but something else that was accidentally renamed. Where did you get it from? Go back to the source (to the CD, web site, or wherever) and grab it again.

I need to install eclipse classic by Monday. I installed it about a month ago with no problems but didnt use it for a while.

On Friday I clicked on its icon and it wasnt working, I wish id taken note of what it said but I think it was something to do with not being able to access a file.

Its probably worth mentioning that you cant actually uninstall eclipse. Theres no uninstall option so you have to search for eclipse and then just delete all the files you get.

I downloaded it from the website(http://www.eclipse.org/downloads/) again. It comes in a zip file. I unzipped it and I was pretty sure that it looked different already. The eclipse.exe file had the eclipse icon as its image the first time I tried to install it (or atleast im pretty sure it did) and now its that white square with a blue frame thing (looks kinda like a 2D oven). I click on it. It asks me if I want to extract all or run. I have taken both options and they both lead to the same conclusion; a message saying "blah/blah/blah/elipse.exe" is not a valid win32 application.

I have tried to deal with it in the following ways:
I downloaded the windows 64 bit version. This led to the same result.
I searched for eclipse and deleted everything that came up. Then I downloaded it again and repeated the process. This led to the same result.
I scanned for virusess with spybot, norton and avast and got none.
I defragmented the disk on the advice of the internet.
I found this page http://support.mozilla.com/... Read more

Answer:elipse.exe is not a valid win32 application. WIN32 is a CUTN(quite urgent).

oh ya I should also mention that I have no problem running other files. In particular I have no problems with executable files that Ive downloaded from the internet

OK, this is admittedly a strange one...

I have used an old (probably a 16-bit) application as my time synchronizer this I've used for quite some time. Its name is TimeRC, and is a great synchronizer as it tracks moon phases along with the time (from selectable, multiple potential time servers). After a fatal software crash a couple of weeks ago, I'm in the process of recovery. Attempts to manually launch the EXE, result in a launch-time error stating that the ap is not compatible with my Windows 7 Pro (SP1). Note that I'm running on the same level of Windows that I was using prior to the crash/re-install. I have inhibited compatibility checking (Group Policy adjustment) only to incur the Win32 error.

I've been through the litany of utilities (registry) to correct this situation, and I KNOW that this ap runs just fine on Windows 7 (from pre-crash days). I am at my wits end trying to avoid this situation. I suspect that there is a registry setting difference (now versus pre-crash) about which I'm ignorant, so I'm open to any, and all suggestions.

To use an alternative time synchronizer is not an option...I'm anal about how my system looks, feels, and performs!! I've even tried running in XP mode (virtual machine) to no palatable result. Note that I don't have access to the program's source code, otherwise I could recompile!

There's got to be something that I'm missing.

Color me frustrated,
Randy Reist (Lairbear)

Have you just tried removing the program and install again.

This is my first post so I'm likely to appear stupid. I'm of average computer competence but love the things. Short story is this:

I have an accounting program in which I have data files for each year of my business. These have been successfully backed up for years on CD and now JumpDrive, and stored on the desktop with a shortcut for easy access.

I downloaded and installed SP2. Now when trying to open a file, I get the message C:\XXX\XXX\XXX is not a valid Win32 application. It always was before so what changed?

I cannot back up my current files because that is the name I've always used. The computer doesn't recognize the name as valid so I have no security.

An ancillary problem is that years ago, my adorable husband somehow associated my old data file to be opened with MusicMatch. (We don't even discuss this.) I managed a workaround so that I got the files to open with their program application even though I could never change the icon from MusciMatch. No harm no foul. No longer. Post SP2, the danged thing went back to opening MusicMatch, ignoring my old workaround. Messing with it for hours got it to where I'm now getting the invalid file messagel

Can anyone help me? These files are serious stuff to me.

(See, I do appear stupid. )

My machine locks up when the screensaver goes on (it's an old one with the two animated guys from Guinness, who go "Drink beer straight from the bottle?! BRILLIANT!" - the screensaver, not the computer). So I restarted it. I've had to do this a few times over the past few days. So today I tried to open Firefox, and it didn't work. I tried to open anything, GOMplayer, Winamp, none of the shortcuts would work, they all came back with an error message saying they're not valid Win32 applications. I tried typing in Firefox.exe into the Run prompt on Task Manager, but that had the same result. Finally, I typed a URL into the run prompt, and it brought up Firefox. I downloaded Avira, but when I tried to install it, the error message popped up that it's not a valid Win32 application.

Interestingly enough, I the path to a JPEG saved on my computer into the Task Manager just like I did with the URL, and it opened right up in Windows Picture And Fax Viewer. Video files bring up WinAmp, and spreadsheets bring up Excel, and yes, these I have all these set as the default programs for these types of files. So programs themselves will run, but I can't start them myself, for some reason. How can I fix this?

Answer:Nothing will run, nothing's a valid Win32 application.

Try a System Restore.

Whether that fixes it or not, read the following and post anew in the Spyware section; http://www.techsupportforum.com/f50/...lp-305963.html to get cleaned out.

Hi everyone, recently a Kaspersky AV false positive detected regedit.exe as a trojan and decided to quarantine it. I was able to recover it from quarantine and restore it, but since then I cannot merge ".reg" files with my registry. I get the message that *.reg (where * is the current file im trying to merge) is not a valid win32 application. Is there any way I can fix this? Or restore the original regedit.exe files as opposed to those recovered from quarantine?

Cheers, Matt

Hello,

I am hoping someone can help me with this issue.

I have downloaded some games from Shockwave.com for my son.  I save the .exe files to my desktop.  When I try to run the installation files, I get this error:
C:\Users\GINA'S~1\AppData\Local\Temp\APNStub.exe is not a valid Win32 application.
When I click OK, this error pops up:
Could not execute the external program C:\Users\GINA'S~1\AppData\Local\Temp\APNStub.exe.

I have HughesNet as an internet provider.  Due to the limited daily usage, I initially used the HughesNet Download Manager and IE8 to download the files.  Since I got these errors when running the installation, I deleted the files.

I get my Shockwave membership through my internet provider.  I am can only access the site through my internet provider's main customer page.  While in this framed page, I downloaded the files with IE8 again, but I chose to download from the browser instead of scheduling it with the manager.  I still received the errors when I ran the files, so I deleted them.

I completely turned off the Download Manager so it would automatically download from IE8 without even trying to go through the manager options.  I still received the errors, I deleted them.

I even tried downloading them from a different browser.  I used Safari since it is the only other one I have downloaded on this computer.  I still received the errors.

I never had this problem... Read more

Hi guys I need some help trying to figure out whats wrong with my PC. As of now every time I start up I'm getting this dialog pop up box which says " Application cannot be executed. The file divxupdate.exe is infected. Do you want to activate your antivirus software now?" I was also getting a pop up ever time I tried to open up certain programs stating something along the lines of blah blah "mhotkey.com is not a valid win32 application" Its preventing me from running housecall as well.

Also when I open up Hijackthis it comes up with a dialog box saying

"For some reason your system denied write access to the hosts file. If you hijacked domains are in this file, HijackThis may NOT be able to fix this
If that happens, you need to edit the file yourself. To do this, click Start, Run Type notepad C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts and press Enter. Find the line(s) HijackThis report and delete them. Save the file as 'hosts.' (with quotes), and reboot. For Vista: simply, exit Hijackthis, right click on the HijacThis icon, choose 'Run as administrator'."

But when I attempt to right click on Hijack This there is not run as administrator option like there usually is for other programs???

I already attempted to use ccleaner and cleaned my registry along with my files even though I probably shouldn't have.

If anyone has any idea please let me know thanks!

Hello,
Earlier today I tried to use IE7 and instead I got a pop-up stating that iexplore.exe is not a valid Win32 Application.

I restarted the computer (was trying to do a system restore since I had upgraded to Firefox 3 yesterday and the restore stopped responding). Anyway, I can now open the IE program but it states that it cannot display the webpage. If I click on diagnosis the problem all I get is error on the page.

I tried doing a search for the past couple of hours with no help. I found one site (http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/community/columns/ietopten.mspx) that had some things for fixing the problem - one being to fix the winsockxp but when I tried running the cmd > netsh winsock reset but then I get the this is not a valid Win32 Application. It also suggested going to the C:\Windows\System32\Drivers\Etc and opening the host files but when I tried to that that I get the same this is not a valid Win32 Application.

Can anyone here help me out?

I have windows 7 64 bit and i dled and installed windows debugging tool from here Windows Software Development Kit (SDK) for Windows 8
i'm aware it's for windows 8 but a thread on this forum directed me to it for windows 7 so.. idk. and i couldn't find w7 versions

after installed, i tried to open a .dmp file from C:\windows\minidump but i got this error

did i install the right one? i'm having such a hard time opening these files just to find how why i've been bsoding so much recently ><

Answer:%1 is not a valid Win32 application.

using the debugger isn't really all that easy.
Just to start from the beginning have you set up the symbol library for it?
Use the Microsoft Symbol Server to obtain debug symbol files

It would probably be easier to just upload a couple of dumps here and let someone with it all set up already do it. As you'll also need to know several of the console commands in the debugger to actually get any useful information out of it.
Also, make sure you are opening a crash dump, and not opening an application with the debugger.

This is driving me crazy!

For a long time, through several computer upgrades (new machines), if I clicked on a saved htm file, which I created in FrontPage 2002, the file would open in FrontPage and life was good.

Sometime over the first chunk of this year, 2010, something happened to modify this.

When I click on the same files now (in fact, ANY htm file), I get the error message " is not a valid Win32 application." Also, the file type has changed to being a Firefox Document. I'm pretty sure that the type was listed as something else previously.

My guess is that I somehow changed the default (or should be defaults?). I've asked around a bit and followed some simple advice to change this back and none of it has worked. I just want to be able to click on the file and have it open in FrontPage as it did before (...WITHOUT having to always use the "Open with...). And have the type changed back to whatever it was.

I am running XP Pro on a Dell Inspiron that is a little over a year old, that has not given me any problems since I first set it up. I run ESET NOD 32 Antivirus. I'm an intermediate level user, meaning I don't mess around with the registry. That is to say: If a tweak is needed to do what I need to have done that requires hands-on registry work, please give me exact instructions so I don't do irreparable harm.

So what has happened, did I likely do something to cause this, and what's the fix?

Thanks in advance for all rep... Read more

I have just recently run into a serious problem with my web browser. I have been unable to download anything of value due to some sort of corruption. I tried to download the free version of Firefox Mozilla and at the end of the download when I tried to run the installation wizard I got the message sys exe is not a valid win 32 application. I then tried download the application to a cd and install it from the disc and I got the message "file is corrupt". I assume that something is wrong with my IE 8 because just before Christmas the laptop started to slow down drastically, and an automatic update for my Norton Internet Security 2006 was unable to download on the first try, and when I was prompted to restart and try again the entire program just disappeared. As a matter of fact, in the dialogue box of any download everything is listed as taking up to as long as 23 hours. Do I have a virus or is there something else sinister going on here?

sys.exe is malware. Your computer is most likely infected. Therefore, please click on the Report button and kindly ask to be moved to the Malware Removal forum.

Answer:not a valid win32 application

Is your OS Microsoft Windows XP 64-Bit Edition and maybe you're attempting to install a 16-bit program?

When you attempt to install a program on a computer that runs Windows XP for 64-bit platforms, you may not be able to do so, and you may receive one of the following error messages:

Install.exe is not a valid win32 application.

Setup.exe is not a valid win32 application.

This behavior can occur if the program you are trying to install uses a 16-bit Install.exe or Setup.exe file. By design, Windows XP for 64-bit platforms does not support 16-bit programs.

Hey, i have a very annoying problem and i hope you could help me!

Since yesterday, everything i download and try to open is "not a valid win32 application", while all archives i try to open are "either in unknown format or damaged"(archives that i download), and every torrent i download is not a valid torrent file!

i can open everything except the files i downloaded yesterday and today.

i read about a bagle, or beagle or something like that. i was thinking it might be it, or just another stupid bug

i'm using 32 bit vista home premium 6 build 6001

the files i tried to open are definitely not corrupted! i tried to download vuze, a new version of msn, about 20 different torrents and so on. nothing works.

also another thing i noticed, is that sometimes firefox stops at 3 kb/s or 2 kb/s and just freezes the download. i wonder if it's related?

My dvd/cd player on my laptop just went out,so I bought an external cd-rw for the usb 2.0. everything seems to work fine. It plugged and played like it should and it is listed on my computer as e: drive. I need to install windnows xp pro on this laptop. It has 512 mb ram, which is too slow for vista. When I go to my computer to open e drive, it says e;\ is not a valid windows32 application. What is going on?? This is frustrating!! I also tried rebooting with the cd rom as the first bootable device and it just goes straight to vista bootup like usual.. Help!!!

Answer:E;\ is not a valid win32 application

It sounds like the XP CD may be bad. Also, unless dual-boot, Vista must be removed first before installing XP.

I know just the very basics about computers, and don't understand what most forums are talking about. I have been searching for the fix to this problem for a while, but can't seem to figure anything out. First off my computer is a HP pavilion g6 and is only 3 months old. It's running windows 7 64 bit. I haven't had any problem with it whatsoever until today when I tried to get a excel document from online and when I tried to open the file it said "...not a valid Win32 application". I realized that this is happening with every Microsoft office program. I've already tried repairing Microsoft office which did nothing, and since then have seen many forums say use hijack this. I downloaded that and ran in, but it said I was denied write access to host files, and to edit the host file or run as administrator. Since the run as administrator option was not there I tried to edit the host file, however the line it said to delete was not in the host file. I have no idea what to do, any help would be much appreciated.

Hi guys,

I'm in need of some serious help, my computer is acting extremely weird when opening .exe files which it has never done before. Whenever I try to open ANY exe file I've downloaded it tells me the application is not a valid win32 application. Which I don't understand. I've done a virus scan and it found some Trojans and viruses, and I deleted and disinfected and rebooted the computer. I also went into CMD and did a scan that fixed something within the system files after doing a little bit of research on it. It rebooted but still nothing. It gives me the same annoying error. I tried downloading Malwarebytes Anti-Malware but it also gives me the same error as with other setup and exe files. Right now I'm stuck with Microsoft Windows Defender in scanning. I tried downloading from Internet Explorer to see if it was from Google Chrome and still no luck as well. I feel like I'm stuck in a very deep technical error hole. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for the help.

P.S:

There might be some viruses left, because the scan did not finish due to the monitor not responding, so I had to shutdown and reboot. But I'll try again and wipe out any more I find if any.

Answer:...is not a valid win32 Application....

the viruses screwed up your file associations from the sound of it.
Go to the below linked tutorial and use it to ensure you exe file settings are correct.
Default File Type Associations - Restore
(just scroll down to exe)
it does sound like you've done a decent job of removing the malware, so hopefully all you need to do is fix the association.

My daughter woke up with an unexpected icon for a Windows Police Pro and almost all of her programs including her Avast Antivirus give her the error "not a valid win32 application" We tried deleting the file, but it came back. We cannot run Hijack this verision on her computer.

Answer:not a valid win32 application

Welcome to Major Geeks!

Let's see if we can get some info so that we can determine which system file has been corrupted. That way we can try to replace it.

Download and save the below to your PC (save it anywhere you can find it. The Desktop is fine). Then double click on it to run it.

AVPFind.bat

It should take a couple minutes to run. You will see a black command prompt window while it is running and it should close when it is finished. Once it finishes, attach the c:\avplog.txt
Now download and Run exeHelper

Please download exeHelper to your desktop.
Double-click on exeHelper.com to run the fix.
A black window should pop up, press any key to close once the fix is completed.
Post the contents of log.txt (Will be created in the directory where you ran exeHelper.com)
Note: If the window shows a message that says "Error deleting file", please re-run the program before posting a log - and post the two logs together (they will both be in the one file)
Next, try running the below online scan:

http://www.superantispyware.com/onlinescan.html

Reboot immediately after scanning if it finds and removes anything. Let me know if anything was found. See if you can save a log with it and attach it in the next reply.

Now run a scan with MGtools and attach the log. Using MGtools

Next post please attach:

c:\avplog.txt
log.txt (from exeHelper)
SAS log (if you can)
New MGlogs.zip

Hello and Welcome to TSF

You may try this

Open a new presentation.
Go to Insert -> Slides From Files.
Click on Browse and search for your .pps file.
Click on the .pps file which you could not open, and then click OK.
Click on Insert All, and then close the Slide Finder.

So....Im not quite sure how to get rid of the virus that is causing this not a valid win32 app since it wont allow me to open and antivirus programs.
Probably infected other computer I am working on unknowingly...I have tried CCleaner and superantispyware but get the same not a valid....
did scandefrag, nothing obviously wrong in the JHJT log...
I download everything from reputable sites.
I know I haad that invalid win32 thing before and then downloaded superantispy and did some tweaks of the command prompt and SASW found a worm.
The sucky thing is we both have dialup, so I am trying to avoid having to wait hours upon hours for stuff to download and then not work because of the win32thing.

This seems to be a Microsoft problem that has been around for years, according to all the info I've found with Google, but none of them explains or solves the problem I've got.

The machine (owned by a friend) is running Vista (Home Premium) and the problem is initially with Word 2000. I've been looking round this machine with the following results.

Double clicking on ANY .doc file gives the error message saying that it is not a valid Win32 application. Well, of course, it isn't; it's a word document file.

The file associations all look OK (and I've been through all attempts of 'Open With...') and using assoc gives .doc=Word.Document.8 and ftype gives word.document.8="c:\Program Fi.....\WINWORD.EXE" /n (there's no /dde which I have seen mentioned elsewhere - is that relevant?). Even the .doc file is showng with the Word icon.

I've done a repair install on Off.2000 with no change and I've uninstalled it and reinstalled it from scratch - still no change.

I CAN open the file normally from with Word and I can open it by dragging it and dropping it on a shortcut to Word, I just can't get it to obey the file association.

Excel 2000 shows the same behaviour with .xls files and so does Word with .dot files.

Other associated files opening other programs seem to work OK (.jpg, .pdf, etc).

Everything was working fine a week ago and there hasn't been any Microsoft update during that period.

Just as an extr... Read more

Answer:.doc is not a valid Win32 application

I had similar problems with .doc files after running Vista for the first time.
The fact was that the files were on a networkdrive which I use with my family, (Windows XP and Windows 98).
I first copied the file to my local HDD and then it opened and I saved it back and it worked.
Reason? MS for sure, but no solution.
Now I am still running W7 RC1 (full version still waiting to be installed) and no more problems even with older files.
I hope this helps something, I don't have aclue to the reason it happens but ....

I was installing XP alongside Win98 as a dual-boot system. Both OS were working fine. I downloaded OpticPro_600p.zip from Driverguide to install my parallel port scanner Plustek OpticPro 4831p. The installation went smoothly and required rebooting. After rebooting I have been unable to run any program - I get the message 'X is not a valid win32 application' including notepad, msconfig etc. When I tried to shut down, it said 'You do not have permission to shut down this computer'. I had set it up as a single user with no log-on screen, with no password, as no-one else uses my computer. Also had system restore turned off!I scanned the OpticPro_600p.zip file with AVG free from my Win98 partition and it was clear.I rebooted XP in safe mode and uninstalled the scanner driver but still have the same problem. I can run some programs in safe mode. Any idea as to how I can retrieve my XP installation?

This is not a malware problem so I'm moving it to the Software Forum.

You may have just lost the file associations for jpg files. Inside Photoshop you should have an option/setting somewhere to setup File Assocications. Make sure Photoshop is associated with jpg files (and any other files you want it associated with).

When you ran MGTools.exe, did you get any error messages? Did you fail to agree to the user license for HJT?
If you did get an error message, see this: Using MGtools

Let's also do this:

Open notepad and copy and paste the following text in the quote box into the window:

sc stop srosa
sc delete srosaClick to expand...

Save this as fix.bat
Choose to save as all files.
Doubleclick fix.bat and let the program run.
A small black dos window will flash, this is normal.

Copy the bold text below to notepad. Save it as fixME.reg to your desktop. Be sure the "Save as" type is set to "all files" Once you have saved it double click it and allow it to merge with the registry.

REGEDIT4

[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Enum\Root\LEGACY_SROSA]
[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Enum\Root\LEGACY_SROSA\0000]
[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet003\Enum\Root\LEGACY_SROSA]
[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet003\Enum\Root\LEGACY_SROSA\0000]

Now run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it. Then attach the new C:\MGlogs.zip file.

This is what happens when a friend attempts to install Corel v.12 from the original CD.
If he places Disk 1 in the drive it shows a Corel logo and then spends ages with the "spinner" before showing the title error message - E:\ is not a valid Win32 application.
He must be doing something wrong!
I would guess that he is doing something like a double click before the software has had a chance to spin-up by itself.
Any idea much appreciated.

Answer:E:\ is not a valid Win32 application

Site thinks that a link that I was going to post is spam! Basically it's an installation problem caused by a registry error or malware (unlikely from a CD) or a conflict with something else that is running. Try installing without anti-virus on.

I've spent the last two days trying to figure out whats going on. I have Windows 7 Premium, 64 bit system and removed the CA Total Defense Anti-Virus program because it wouldn't allow my email to load into Thunderbird. Plus it seemed to be causing problems on my system from the beginning (about 2 mos). I wanted to go back to the Microsoft Security Essentials and when I tried I got the message;

mseinstall.exe is not a valid Win 32 application

I also removed a program called My paint because I couldn't get some brushes to load into the program. I tried to reinstall the proggie thinking maybe it had just been corrupted. But I get a similar error message;

mypaint-1.0.0_win64_installer.exe is not a valid Win32 application.

I have managed to Avast Free anti-virus installed and ran a full virus scan which came up clean. I also ran Malwarebytes that cleaned out some garbage, and I also ran my Super AntiSpyware which also cleaned up a few things.

At this point I'm at a loss and wondering if there could be a hidden Trojan or possible the registry is messed up from whatever was on the system. Can you please advise? I need to get the My Paint program back on because it's used on a regular basis. But I also don't want to be just limping along waiting for other issues to crop up.

Thanx for any help,
Bren

Answer:Not a Valid Win32 application

This is an error typically found with a corrupted dfile from a download, however it sounds like you were infected at one point. Be sure you do FULL scans and not basic with Superantispyware and Malwarebytes. Clean your junk files with CCleaner.

If no luck maybe Windows Repair can restore a busted setting. Removing malware does not always fix something that was broken in Windows from that infection.

(See, I do appear stupid. ) Forgot: I'm a Dell 2650 Inspiron, XP, 512 ram.

"Now when trying to open a file, I get the message C:\XXX\XXX\XXX is not a valid Win32 application"
How are you trying to open this file?
Double clicking on it?
Clicking on a shortcut?
If you use Start > Programs does C:\XXX\XXX\XXX run, or still give the error?
(BTW, this IS your accounting program?)

"I cannot back up my current files because that is the name I've always used. The computer doesn't recognize the name as valid so I have no security. "

What name? Or do you mean C"\xxx\xxx\xxx??
No security? Meaning, no backup??

Re: Your old data file. From Explorer or My Computer, select one of these files, right mouse, open with and with from the list or the browse button, select the program that should be use, select the Always Use and OK your way out.

I've installed a LiteOn DH-20A4P DVD RW Drive to replace my old DVD ROM. Whenever I put any DVD in whether it is a magazine cover disk or software I get the error message above.I downloaded the latest firmware from the absolutely rubbish LiteOn website, and this didn't solve the problem either.Has anyone got any ideas on how to resolve this. I've already taken two drives back saying that they were faulty. But now I'm beginning to think that it is my PC (an old Advent3509 running XP-Pro-SP2). I think I need to update the drivers on the motherboard.Cheers

Hello all

I can't open my photos or pictures anymore because it keeps saying 'JPG is not a valid win32 application'. It never used to do this so I'm sure I've done something wrong. I have tried for ages to fix this on my own but I can't. Please can you help me?
Thanks in advance
Gtops

Answer:JPG is not a valid win32 application...how can I fix this?

a *.jpg file opening gives a not vallid file error

solution to this is that the link in windows informs windows to open *.jpg with a program that is not correct win32 openable .

2 possible common causes.
the link is wrong
the file is wrong
for instance if you have extentions hidden , something could be displayed as namehere.jpg
what you wouldnt see is namehere.jpg.scr
and that would be a virus , but mostly people are warned enough about those nasty things so they have virus protection , and if that would have been the case your virus scanner would of had a busy day :)

so picking the first possible cause , the wrong link
easy enough you can right click on the jpg file and you can then select " open with " rollout menu to the side then the option open with if im correct wich causes a dialogbox to pop up informing you of a list of all the software programs currenly active installed in windows.

jpg file i would prefer to open with something that always works and normally present in windows either windows imaging ( wich is in the list ) or MS paint . both should work .
later on when you have the hang of this you can obviously change it to photoshop ect ect.

hope this helps .

Hey guys,

Im completly new to this whole thing so i appologise if my question seems a bit dumb!!!

Basically I was having problems with my laptop connecting to networks so took it to a shop to get sorted. The guy there re-installed windows and all was good. Untill now when i am trying to download and install all the programs I lost.

Just tried to do utorrent and when I tried to open the file to install it it comes up saying that it is not a valid win32 application. Googling this it seems that it could be some kind of worm??

Dont really know what to try next? While I was looking for a solution my laptop froze twice and just had to turn it off so dunno if thats part of this prob or not.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks

Hi everybody.I have came upon a slight problem.I have just recently fixed my brothers computer, and he now has a small problem. He plays a game called Freestyle Street Basketball. He told me he clicked on the game, and it started updating.Well, the update froze,so he went into the task manager and went under processes and ended the process on the update.(Update was running under admin.) Is there anything i can do besides reinstalling it? He told me it takes forever, and he would like to avoid that process. Btw. The program and its files have no viruses.Downloaded from a trusted source, and just checked with webroot.

Answer:Not a valid win32 application

It would be worth the wait to re-install it...then re-boot and grab the update. He can't play it now anyways so the lengyh of time it takes to re-install shouldn't matter anyways.

sometimes this is down to corrupt data and corrupt installation files,if your installing from a cd clean the disc then try again, ive had this problem before with the cd not been read correctly, some cd and dvd players are a bit picky with dirty discs, pioneer and lite on spring to mind.

Hello,

My PC with Win 7 64 bits is giving his message along with others for some other software. I starting to think this is a hardware problem as I have changed various parts inumerous times. The HDD I changed about 3-4 times.

Well, in order to sort a software problem: does anyone know how to fix the following message:

It displays whenever I try to launch Babylon Builder, but it has happened to other pieces of software before.

Hi, I'm just new to these forums and am having some terrible problems with my computer, so please bear with me and give me some support

Upon downloading an application I found that when I click on the download and select "Run" I get the message "XXX.exe is not a valid Win32 Application" XXX of course being the name of my download, not an actual file name. My antivirus is also somehow missing. This of course also means that I can't download a new antivirus or any program to attempt to fix my computer, so I may have to rely on a completely manual method of repair.

I have also found that when I save an image its download size is 0kb, another major problem =/

Please give me some advice about how to rectify this problem, preferrably one that does not involve resetting to factory defaults as I have misplaced the recovery disks.
Thanks in advance =D

Hi, ok first off all im swedish so i dont know very much english.
Ok, so I'm coding in a program called "Pawno" (a pawn editor)
Pawno is used for GTA San andreas multiplayer, Called SA-MP.
When i try to open a script with Pawno it just says: C:\Dockuments And Settings/Oscar/My documents/script/LARP.pwn is not a valid Win32 application (.pwn is in association with Pawno) And same goes when i try to compile a script (from .pwn to .amx)
The thing is, I can open Pawno and from Pawno open the .pwn file, but cant open the .pwn file first.
When i take another GTA san andreas script program and compiles it says:
>%l is not a valid Win32 application.
And at last pawno uses a separate compiler named pawncc.exe, wich exists in my pawno folder.

Anyone please help!

//zootix

Answer:is not a valid Win32 application

XP does not recognize "Pawno" as a valid Win32 Application. You can open files from within Pawno, but you cannot launch Pawno by double-clicking an associated file.

This sounds like normal behavior for XP. Meaning that if there is a problem, the problem is with Pawno and not XP.

Do you know of anyone else that is able to launch Pawno by double-clicking on an associated file ? If not, I would think the issue would be best addressed to the manufacturer/author of Pawno, and the defect may lie there.

However, in general, uninstalling and then reinstalling applications frequently fixes a lot of problems.

Hi,

I really need help.

I seem to have become infected with some kind of virus that is slowing the system right down and has blocked pretty much all of my anti-virus and malware software.
If I try and run these programs I get the message "xxx.exe is not a valid win32 application".

I read the "this topic" above and followed everything, however

> dss.exe didn't seem to run correctly, it gave me the ".. I will inform you when I am finished" message, I clicked ok and it was gone
and then after a few seconds the system froze, including mouse. This released after a few seconds and nothing else happened. I tried
a few times.

I've downloaded Monster Farm Online it is in Japanese and I have switched my regional settings to Japanese as well hoping that would help resolve my problem. Perhaps the language/regional settings have nothing to do with it, I don't know. When ever I try to start the game it shows up as:

any suggestions would be appreciated! Thanks for your time!

Answer:*.exe is not a valid Win32 application

Hi

What Windows version are you using?

But in general when you get that error, the download is most likely corrupt, try downloading again. adn as its a largeish download try a download manager like this one and see if that helps.

Also check that the game supports your Windows version and hardware, would check but my Japanese is none existant, although did see a review somewhere else and its min spec is low anyway PIII 512kb ram and 64mb video

For some reason, whenever I attempt to click my D:\ drive to use the CD i put into my computer, the message "D:\ is not a valid Win32 Application" comes up and nothing happens. This has never happened before, and I just had a massive overload of viruses, so I'm assuming it has something to do with viruses affecting my computer. And I'm pretty sure its not my CD that has the problem, since I tried another CD and it showed the same error. Does anyone know of a way to run my CD? I only need to run it once (I'm attempting to run the Windows XP CD to completely wipe my computer since its becoming very bad). My computer is an hp intel pentium 4 with 512 mb of ram (yes i know it sucks) with windows SP2EDIT: I found the answer...It seems that both disks were infected. I just tried both of them on another computer and they both did not work. Sorry.

Answer:D:\ is not a valid Win32 Application?

What do you mean the discs were infected ? ?Even if by chance they were this would not be the error message you would recieve...if even you would recieve one...probably not.

Running a Dell Laptop Insperon 640M, Windows XP. A hardware issue with the laptop's wiring leaves the attached display 100% dead, and forces me to rely on an external (Dell) monitor.Yesterday, I decided to update my Malwarebytes Anti Malware program.Shortly after doing that, I discovered AVCare had let itself into my computer. Mbam.exe wouldn't launch, though it would display in the list of active processes under the ctrl+alt+delete menu. After Googling the issue (and winding up here), I decided to try renaming MBAM.EXE to MABM.BAT. This worked, I found ~150 infected objects, and cleaned them without really looking them over. Rebooted at Malwarebyte's request to finish the job. This morning found me with "Google installer" being unable to launch, infected with "Windows Antivirus Pro," and svchost.exe also asking me to send an error report. ViewMgr.exe is unable to launch. I am not familiar with the functions of the last two. I also had what appeared to be a legitimate, XP message informing me that my Firewall had been disabled. Attempting to run MABM.BAT(.exe) gave me a popup (from Windows Antivirus Pro) that the item is infected. renaming again didn't fix this. I ctrl+alt+del'd to close the Windows Antivirus Pro, knowing it'd be back up within a few seconds. I then attempted to launch MBAM while WAVP was down. It launched, I started the scan, and left for work, asking my older brother to finish the scan.I return after a 10 hour shif... Read more
