Sony Vegas 8 rendering problem (I get sound, but no video)

Question: Sony Vegas 8 rendering problem (I get sound, but no video)

Hey all.

When I render a video using Sony Vegas 8 Pro, I get sound, but no video. I have followed several tutorials closely but still no luck. I render as a wmv file, change the size to 640x480, but still no video (just sound).

What I think happened is that I had set up Sony Vegas 8 a few moths back and had no problem rendering videos, but yesterday I started the program while holding down Ctrl and Shift (this resets all settings to their original positions).

Does anyone have any ideas how I can get the video to appear?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hey everyone. I've been having this problem for a while now, and it's starting to get really annoying. Every single time I render my WMVs in vegas with the ff settings:

Video rendering quality: Good
-FORMAT: Windows Media Audio 9.2
- ATTRIBUTES: 128 kbps, 44kHz, stereo (a/v) CBR
-MODE: Bit Rate VBR
-Frame Rate: 30.000
-Seconds per key frame: 3
-Average Bit Rate : 4.5 M

I get the video to render completely, however, Vegas states that only 52% has been rendered (I hope that made sense).
It then starts to render from the start for about 2 seconds, freezes, then crashes the software completely.

I tried rendering in AVI and MPEG, but the quality depleted. AVI takes up so much space as well.

I don't know what to do anymore. Help please? Thank you!

This is a pretty weird problem that I can't get my head around. I recently did a Let's Play on my computer, but for some reason the file was split into 11 parts. That's not really a problem because I could just put them together in a video editor. So I tried out Sony Vegas 11 first. No matter what I tried rendering my 13 minute video as, it would have a constant green-flickering, and when there was no flicker the frame rate was horrible. Needless to say I gave up on Vegas 11.

So now here's my problem with Vegas 9. I rendered one small part of my video to make sure it worked, and it came out perfectly. So then I go and try to render the whole 13 minute thing, but no matter what I try I get this error. "System is low on memory. You may be able to reduce memory usage by closing other applications." Now, look at my specs below and tell me if that should be happening. It shouldn't, which confuses me. It renders perfectly on my friends PC with 2GB of ram (and his ram is lower quality than the 4GB I have). Could anyone tell me what's wrong?

Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit (6.1, Build 7601)
Intel Core i5 CPU 760 @ 2.80GHz (4 CPUs), ~2.8GHz
Page file: 2223MB used, 5962MB available
DirectX 11
ATI Radeon HD 5830

Answer:Major rendering problem with Sony Vegas 9?

Try this app,
VirtualDub download (at SourceForge) -

You can load the first clip and then append the rest of them.
then in the Video Button on the Menu, select "Direct Stream Copy", and check the Audio menu as well and have that set to "Direct Stream Copy"
And then save the AVI.
Should only take you a couple of minutes to do, as long as Virtual Dub can load the files.

Ok so i've spent the past week putting together clips to make a video. It's about 13 minutes and im ready make it into a movie. When rendering it, i first noticed that the end file size is around 1 mb. That's not right. So i checked the other media types (avi, mov, etc) and the highest i can get is about 16 mb. So i do the 16 mb one to check (avi). It makes the movie, and i open it. The movie is about 24 seconds long and its completely grey. So i try making it a .mov which is about 6 mb. It renders it and i open it. Before opening, it says its 667 mb, but its only 8 SECONDS LONG AND IS COMPLETELY BLACK.

what in the world do i do?

Every time i go to render a video, i begin to hear a loud beeping come out of my computer. I think its the warning beep on one of the parts. I'm not too experienced with pc parts so I dont know what that is. This beeping occasionally comes on when I game too, however, when i render, its more prevalent. Eventually my PC just blue screens with a warning message. This didn't always happen so I'm not sure what's going on. I hadnt tried to render a video in like half a year due to the fact that this issue was happening back then. So when I tried doing it today, it did it again. Please help. Thanks so much!

Is there a error code in that blue screen? And what is the warning message?

Hi everyone. I just finished creating a video in Vegas 8, and whenever I try to render my movie, the render usually makes it to around 60%, and then an error message pops up saying:

"An error occurred while creating the media file 'Name of file'. This reason for the error cannot be determined"

I've tried maked .avi, .wmv, and .wma. I've even messed around with each template, and the problem still keeps occurring.

Please help me.

I've been making videos on Youtube for almost 3 years now. But I've just recently started experiencing problems while rendering a video.

For longer videos (5-10 minutes), I would look at the finished version on the clip and notice that it's skipping/lagging like crazy.
I record at 29.97 fps (standard NTFS) and 1280 x 720 dimensions with about the best rendering settings you can choose. I think 44.000 mhz sound and 30/29.97 fps video. Also, it says my CPU is running at 97% - 100%. GRR. I have AMD fx series quad-core 3.4 ghz. That isn't right. If you want to see the video I created as an example, I'll give you the link. But does anybody know why this is happening? I highly appreciate any response and I hope I can find a solution to this as quick as possible. Thanks.

Answer:Sony Vegas Rendering issue??

Hi, did you choose "Match media settings" as the tutorial recommends. Its normal for the cpu to work that hard while rendering. And its best left alone (the computer) while rendering is in progess. Also 29.97 fps complies with the American/Japan standard which is the NTSC standard versus the PAL standard which is 25 fps used in the rest of the planet.
Agree with you that the sony software works best at 1280 x 720

I've had a few errors with Sony Vegas 9 so far and I've gotten this far but this one has me annoyed. I want to render my video to MP4 and I've outlined my settings which I've used in the past no problem.

When I click save, it starts rendering, then it will stop and bring up this error:

Problem Description
Application Name: Vegas Pro
Application Version: Version 9.0 (Build 563)
Problem: Unmanaged Exception (0xc0000005)
Fault Module: C:\Windows\SysWOW64\ntdll.dll

Fault Offset: 0x000371D3

Process Path: C:\Program Files (x86)\Sony\Vegas Pro 9.0\vegas90.exe
Process Version: Version 9.0 (Build 563)
Process Description: Vegas Pro
Process Image Date: 2009-04-17 (Fri Apr 17) 08:12:56

I've run "sfc /scannow" and there are no problems and I've tried editing my rendering settings slightly such as the bitrate.

Anyone have any solution? It's taken me ages to do this project

Answer:Sony Vegas 9 Crash After Rendering

You do know that Vegas 9 is obsolete, yes? Plus you have not provided any info about your system or the type of render you are doing. The best place to post your problem is here:

Sony Creative Software - Forums - Home

Go to either the Vegas Movie Studio or Vegas Pro forum, depending on which version you have.

Note that there is an established fix for Vegas 9 on 64-bit systems that involved editing 3 codec DLL's. THis is well documented in the forums I mentioned and could easily be the fix for your problem.

I've been using Sony Vegas for quite a while, made quite some videos with it and when I tried to render another one today, I saw there are no render templates. Went to check the Render Template folder in App Data/Roaming/Sony and the folder was empty. I reinstalled Sony Vegas, but the folder remained empty. So is anyone else here using Vegas Pro 12 and if possible could upload their Render Template folder (If using Win7 it is located in probably C:\Users\(user name)\App Data\Roaming\Sony\Render Templates\) somewhere online so I could download them?
Thanks in advance,

Hi , can anyone please help me shorten a clip in sony vegas without having to re-render ?
I want to cut 2 minutes off a clip I have but rendering at 720x480 takes forever and actually turns into about a 4 gig file just for 15 or so minutes of film , which was only 260 meg to start with.
Any help on this would be great , thanks.

Hello --
Hope this post finds everyone well.
I wonder if someone might be able to help me.

I'm trying to render a project to the .wmv format in Sony Vegas 3.0. The project is a little over four minutes (one video track and three audio tracks). Whenever I try to render it, I receive the following message...

"An error occurred while creating the media file Error 0xc00d0bc2 (message missing)"

Any idea what this means and how I can solve it? I was able to render the project to MPEG-2 but I really want the higher quality of .WMV.

Do I need to pre-render the project first? If so, how do I do that? I've tried to find solutions in my manual and online but so far, no luck.

Any help anyone could provide would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you very much for your time, consideration and help.

Appreciatively yours,

Dougie Gee

Hello, had some random blue screens before, wasn't sure of what it was but this happened just now when I was rendering in Sony Vegas.

- x86 (32-bit) or x64 ? x64
- the original installed OS on the system? Original
- an OEM or full retail version? The site I purchased my computer from pre built it for me but I did purchase the Windows 7 disk so I guess full retail.

- What is the age of system (hardware)? About 5 months
- What is the age of OS installation (have you re-installed the OS?) About 5 months, no re-install
Forgot to mention that the computer came over clocked. I also used a program called blue screen viewer which is highlighting hal.dll as a problem, don't know if that can be of any extra help.

Hi there

I've already checked this issue on multiple different DV forums, recently switched from Premiere to this Vegas so I'm still considered a amateur, but hopefully work my way around this soon.

The Issue: My Sony Vegas isn't giving me the video quality I need compared to lesser programs (ie; NeroVision)

I've been rendering my videos in Sony Vegas from raw DV avi's to compressed Xvid/MPEG-3 .avi files.

I've been comparing that NeroVision's renderer has a better quality video with exactly the same compression settings, and is larger in terms of file size only by about less than 1mb's (Sony filesize: 2.14mb's Nero filesize: 2.96mb's)

Picture Legend:
2)Sony Vegas (May not be noticeable with the pictures, but it's cloudy and blurred, and possibly off-color by a degree or less.)

I've tried all other forms of compression, and even uncompressed, but Xvid is the standard for best quality with filesize. I've used Mpeg which are too big, and different AVI compressions, and they're no better.

Why don't I just use NeroVision? NeroVision doesn't have ANY features worth mentioning. It's made for stringing homeDV's together with transitions, nothing more. I need to be able to control my videos with Freeform.

I'm annoyed that the quality is not satisfactory considering it IS Sony Vegas, and Nero is, well, Nero (And you can't hear it, but the CCIT A-l... Read more

I rendered a video no less than 4 days ago without any problems, yet today when I try to render a video using Sony Vegas Pro 12, the windows on my screen will stop responding (I can still move my mouse around by this point) and the computer will crash (BSOD). This came as a complete surprise to me, since I've been using this program to render projects for quite some time now. I tried turning off GPU acceleration, but my computer would still come to a grinding halt before blue-screening. I even went to the lengths of installing Sony Vegas Pro 13, which turned out actually BSOD'ing my computer when starting the program up.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

All of my clips are NTSC DV Widescreen (720x480), pixel aspect ratio 16:9. I want to render out the finished video project now as the same size and ratio. But nothing I've tried thus far will give me a widescreen output once I watch the finished video.

I'm usually quite good with codecs, formats, and such, but this one has me so confused. I've also tried it both with and without the "Stretch... Do not letterbox" option checked, to no avail. Uncompressed either crashes the program or comes out standard size, sometimes with faces a strange color-keyed-out grey. Any suggestions?

I'd encountered a problem while I was trying to encode a 4:23 minutes long AVCHD clip with my Sony Vegas program.
It goes like this: I imported that clip, dragged it into the timeline, cropped about 20 seconds of it, added a transition in the middle (the cropped part), rendered as Sony AVC - AVCHD 1920x1080 PAL template and saved.
The size of the original clip is a 530 MB, and the size of the new encoded one is 480 MB which, so far, makes sense.
The problem is when I try to play the NEW clip. The first couple of minutes runs smoothly, quite the same as in the original clip. So far so good, but after that (and actually, it's even a few seconds after the cropping-transition) - the clip begins to go glitchy and jumpy, and you just can't watch it normally.

Does anyone have an idea why this problem occures? And even more important - how can I get it to be fixed?

Thanks a lot!

Well, maybe I'm just dead in the water here, but I spent 5 hours yesterday wittling away at a project in Windows Movie Maker. I cut together a music video using a ripped .avi of a movie (this is probably where my problem comes in ... ). After all that work, I rendered it to view my final piece. As I clicked play, I got the audio, I got my transitions but ... no video. None.

Am I SOL? Is there anything I can do to get the video? I've tried the DV-AVI format, nothing. I've tried viewing it in multiple programs, including VLC, WMV, even realplayer. Nothing. I'm probably SOL, but I just wondered if anyone had suggestions?

Also, anyone ever use the program handbrake to rip DVDs? Would that possibly solve my problem? I know I might have to just go back in and re-cut the entire video with the new rip, but ... if it'll work, then that's all I need to know.

Technologically Frustrated,

Answer:WMM problem! Sound no video after rendering!

hi guys, i was just wondering if there was a problem with vegas video 4 and the xvid codec. i used another program, videomach, to compress a bunch of bmp images into a xvid coded avi file. now, when i go to open it up with vegas to add effects and such, it wont open at all. but, it will open other avi movies that are NOT coded with xvid. so, is this a vegas 4 problem, and that it doesnt like the xvid codec or something? any help on this would be appreciated.

I am capturing a half hour long video from a dv recorder to my hardrive using Sony Vegas studio and the hour and a half long clip is 20gb.

Am I doing somehting wrong? How do you guys and gals that use Sony Vegas Studio do it?

Also I dont like the fact that it breaks the video into several clips. How do I capture so it is one video?

Answer:why is my captured video so big (sony vegas)

You can capture it in full quality which you must be doing or lower can also capture it for editing in much lower quality and work with it as a much smaller file until you want to render it for burning to disk....when render to burn to disk you have then camera plugged in and it takes the full quality from the camera.

Have you got a extra Hard drive for those big files because you will need one.

Hello everyone, I sure do ask a lot of questions but hardly give answers, I apologize for this I'm just not very helpful when it comes to most things because my knowledge is heavily limited, now on to my problem.

I've recently started recording gaming videos with Fraps, and the video that comes from Fraps is fine, however after I render it in Sony Vegas for upload to Youtube, the sound becomes out of sync. The sync isn't that bad but if you pay attention or watch for a long period if time, you start to notice it.

Below I have linked to a video of mine that has this problem. The sound is almost synced correctly, however there is a short delay and I would REALLY like to fix this as it makes the videos less intriguing. You'll really notice it during the fighting and also with the talking.

Answer:Rendered Sound Out of Sync (Sony Vegas Pro 10.0)

I am using Sony Vegas Pro 9.

For example, Say my project setting is a 50x50 vid.

Now say I import a 25x25 vid. It will show a vid half the size in the preview part.

NOW say I import a 75x75 vid. Here is my question and problem:

Vegas resizes the 75x75 vid to fit within the 50x50 project settings. I don't want it to do that. I want to be able to import the 75x75 vid *AS* a 75x75 vid with it's full resolution intact. When it resizes the 75x75 vid to a 50x50 vid, it affects the resolution to crappy.

Plz tell me I can do this because if I can't then I will have to cleanse the Earth of this program with fire.

And BTW, yes, I know there's Final Cut Pro too. I don't have a Mac at home yet and Adobe's video editing prog doesn't like my POS computer. But I do like both Vegas and Final Cut pretty much equally. They both have their pros and cons and can do certain things easier than the other. Both work so I use them both when I can.

EDIT: I was thinking more on this issue. Maybe I'm supposed to do it in reverse. My Project settings are supposed to be the largest width and height of the video's that I'm using and I'm to set something else that sets....ummmm....the size of something else. I dunno. Nah, that can't be it cuz, I dunno. Just thinking aloud. I'm freakin' confused.

Answer:Sony Vegas Pro 9: Importing video question.

yes you can do this, resize it use the pan/crop tool on the clip itself. in the properties of the clip, I tend to "disable resampling" and check the field order to make sure it's not blending two feilds together (which will look crappy) then in the project properties check the de-interlace mode, field order and the render quality.

I'm trying to get a youtube partnership, by making my own webshow about games, movies, you know the drill. Of these two I only tried Vegas Pro, and it's great although pretty complex for newcomers xD

But recently i've heard about Adobe Premiere, and i've only heard great things about it. It is rather expensive though, which leans me more towards Vegas. But still, i'd like some input on this.

Which of these two professional video editors is better, Adobe Premiere or Sony Vegas Pro (features, ease of use, performance, specs, etc.)?

Answer:Adobe Premiere vs Sony Vegas Pro - Which is the best video editor?

For YouTube stuff I doubt you will need the additional capabilities of Vegas Pro. I'd suggest Vegas Movie Studio instead. Pro has stuff for multi-camera shoots, compositing, and things associated with big-screen feature films. Plus it is much more expensive than Movie Studio - and Premiere as well.

I personally shy away from all Adobe products (other than Photoshoip Elements) but I have tried all the other video editors and found Vegas to be the most logical and easy to use. I agree it does seem a bit daunting at first, but the inline Help screens are very good and once you learn how to do things it all flows very seamlessly. I'd say check out the free demo of Movie Studio before you make a purchase that is more expensive than your needs.

I bought easy cap and I am using it with my laptop. Ulead video studio 10.0 came with it. Now, I don't know if the video editor, the easy cap itself or the camera but when I go to capture the video it lags so much. It doesn't lag when I watched it in the preview in Ulead Video Studio, so I don't know what the problem is. In Sony Vegas when I go to capture it, it doesn't lag but the video itself looks crappy. It looks like it is choppy. Does anyone know how to fix this. I don't believe its the camera because I tried to capture a video through my xbox and it still did the same thing. Can somebody help me?

Answer:Problems with Easy Cap & video editing with Ulead and Sony Vegas 7.0

sounds like a lack of drivers for the camera. alot of windows os's support a webcam and other camera devices natively but the support you get with them is HORRIBLE.

This post is to hopefully throw some more light onto a problem that I've only just found a workaround for.
The workaround is not a fix by any means but it allows the software in question to work again.

Problem :
Sony Vegas 10.0c ?Stopped Working? and no amount of uninstall/reinstall and/or deleting all traces in the registry would fix the problem.
The problem is apparent with all versions of Sony Vegas prior to 10.0c, Sony Vegas Movie Studio HD, and associated packages (DVD Architect Studio 5.0 and Sound Forge Audio Studio 10.0 etc)

Diagnosis and workaround:
Turns out that there is some sort of conflict when Microsoft Office 2007 is installed too.
?WowExec.dll? in the Office install folder is the offending article and as soon as the dll is renamed (wowexec_bak.dll) the ?Stopped working? issue vanishes. I don?t know if either Microsoft and/or Sony have made a fix for this problem but renaming the WowExec.dll file is a temporary workaround. A few error messages may appear when running Vegas for the first time when WowExec.dll is disabled but it allows Vegas to run again.
This issue was on Windows XPSP3.
Anyone else encounter this problem? If so, is anyone aware of a permanent fix?

Why do I lose contrast on my video when rendering it in .wmv format in Sony Vegas Pro 9.0? I've spent hours, once again, trying to render my video for YouTube and pretty much the only good video type seems to be the Windows Media Video V11, the quality looks good, but when rendering about 30 percent of the contrast disappears, so it basically gets more grey. This haven't got to do anything with my media players' overlay-settings since it looks like this bad in YouTube too. And if you don't know why this happens, suggest what would be an other good codec for rendering? I have downloaded ffdshow video codecs, which has h.264, mpeg2 etc. but my Sony Vegas crashes every time when I try to render with it. So any suggestions?

Solution( ? ): Well, I went to my ATI CCC Video-settings and started clicking stuff and came across "Dynamic Range - Full ( 0 - 255)" no idea what this means though perhaps referring to High Dynamic Range? I checked it and the .wmv looks exactly how it's supposed to. There's now the right amount of contrast. I wonder why this wasn't checked by default? Still, I'm not sure how the video is going to look on YouTube, I have to try it out. Here's a picture:

Solved: Yes, it now looks exactly right when uploaded to YouTube. I remember having this problem for years, I'm glad it solved so easily, I never thought it could be because of graphic card's video se... Read more

Hooray for codec BS. I've installed K-Lite FULL codec pack, as well as DivX, but ANY .AVI file I put into Vegas only loads the Audio track, while saying the Video track is offline. I load the exact same file into Vegas on another PC and there is no problems whatsoever.

Solutions? I mean, this is a fresh install of Windows XP here.

Answer:Sony Vegas refuses to load .AVI video files correclty. Codec nonsense.

From a Google Search for MJPEG codec for Vegas, ironically, this thread showed up.
Why can't Vegas see the video from a file captured by a still camera? Audio plays, just not video.
Most digital still cams use an MJPEG codec to compress the media. You'll need to install an MJPEG codec. Visit: (freebie) <-- I filled out the info, and it doesn't download anything, keeps timing out.
to find an MJPEG codec/decoder.

After the reset, I installed AVG Free Antivirus, and all my other software that I had before, including Sony Vegas Pro 11. However, even after updating Windows from the control panel, the video clips I have in Vegas appears different than before. The video clips and its effects were running fine before the reset. Now, the effects seem to appear different on the video clips.  Any ideas on how to fix this? Thanks.

I have three tapes from my camera, taken at a single event. I want to select some video frames only, without sound, from two of them and place in as video overlay into the master version in Vegas 8. I have captured the tapes into separate sessions with Vegas, want to make my selections from tape 2 and 3, save just the video portion not the audio, and move those into the primary Vegas session. (1) I cannot seem to be able to cut off the audio track, only mute it, while working on session 2 and 3. iIm concerned that this will result in an over-write of audio track in the primary session when imported. (2) I have not figured out how to save the portions of the clips from tape 2 and 3 so that i can then insert them into the primary session.

Any ideas? I cannot find the answers in SONY Vegas 8 Help nor online...

Answer:problem installing sony vegas pro 9

From what you say, it looks like UAC is involved here.

Are you using a standard user account or an administrative one?

If you're using a standard one, your PC may have UAC configured to deny administrative rights to simple users no-matter-what (you may want to read THIS for further information).
If it asks you to authenticate, on the other hand, you'll be asked to provide details (username - password) for an administrative account to proceed.

If it just asks you to confirm to proceed, you'll probably be already running it as administrator, so you'd just hit "Yes" or "Continue" to get past the UAC screen.

By the way, shouldn't this be moved to "software" instead?

Hello! I am new to editing with Sony Vegas. I have Sony Vegas Pro 9.0 I recently made a series of videos. I used many smaller clips to make these videos. Those small clips are now deleted, but I recently realised that I have made the videos with wrong resolution and they are also too big. I figured that I could just drop these files in to vegas and rerender them with the proper settings. (They are now 720x480 but I need them 640x360. And the file size must be also be smaller.)

here comes the problem: when I finnish rerendering those files, they become very blurry. Especially on sharp camera turns. It's horiible to watch them. It seems they hurt my eyes at some points. What is causing this???

These were the settings I used to render the original 720x480 videos:

These are the settings that I use to rerender the new videos:

What could POSSIBLY cause the blur? I have experimented and changed a lot of different settings including Motion blur, but nothing helps. So... I am desperate now.

Hello. I had Sony Vegas and it handled .avi files perfectly, I had made a video which was mostly made up of .avi files.

Then I had problem with codecs and now Vegas doesn't handle them and it says 'media offline'. It plays the sound but not video. But .avi files work fine when I play them! I tried uninstalling and reinstalling vegas, plus the codecs but to no avail.

Only difference I have seen outside of Vegas is that the thumbnails in folders do not show up for .avi files anymore. I think whatever would make them show up would possibly make them work in Vegas too.

When trying to edit a .avi file in Sony Vegas Pro 8.0 I get this message: Stream attributes could not be determined.
This is not the first time this have happened and I usually solve it buy running a codec finder program and download the suitably codec. But this did not work for all of the files this time.

The codec I downloaded this time was: Fraunhofer MPEG Layer-3 Audio Decoder

I get this information when I run the files that did not work in a codec finder program:
128 Kbps, 48,0 KHz, 16 bits, 2 channels, MPEG Audio (MP3) (Version 1) (Layer 3) (Joint stereo / MS Stereo)

In the files that worked because of the codec I downloaded I get this information:
128 Kbps, 48,0 KHz, 2 channels, MPEG Audio (MP3) (Version 1) (Layer 3) (Joint stereo / MS Stereo)

The only difference I can spot is the 16 bits part. Is it this that is the problem?

I have Windows Vista.
Help would be highly appreciated!

I've been using this guide to render my movies - I want to be able to upload them to Vimeo in HD. I'm recording with a Canon HF100 in 60i, so the video is de-interlaced and encoded using H.264.

Everything works great, but the moment I try to render a movie that's actually kind of long (it's an hour long Christmas movie), it doesn't work.

It's odd - all the tests I do (sample clips of the few few minutes) work perfectly. The moment I let it go all night an render the entire movie, it gives me the following error when trying to open the video:

Error -2048: Couldn't open the file Christmas-2009.mp4 because it's not a file that Quicktime understands.Click to expand...

Does this have something to do with the file size? The resulting rendered video is pretty huge; 2.13GB to be exact. I was planning on burning this to a DVD, and simply playing it in a PS3 when we wanted to watch family videos.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Are there any experts on Ulead Video Studio 7 out there, please.I am just starting to experiment in burning video to VCD captured via a leadtek TV card from a VHS player. However, whilst the captured clip initially plays back in Ulead VS 7 OK [i.e with picture/sound in sync] when the clip is rendered for burning to VCD - if it is then played back, even before burning to CD, the sound is about 10-15 seconds behind the picture!?? Can anyone offer any suggestions as to what might be causing this, please?

I have just bought a new pc from dell a installed with windows 7 on a 64 bit system.
whenever i try to render videos my video software crashes. its the same whether i click render in sony vegas or visonlab from fxhome.
I also get vertical white lines over videos in youtube.
videos play fine with media player or vlc.
I spent 1100 with dell and they havent replied to offer any support.

Fxhome have been great but cant find a solution and from checking the internet it all seems to be a permissions issue.

The thing is in the fxhome folder there are example projects and these projects render fine.

but all my other video clips dont

i cant install new project or render anything else

Yes i have the latest flash yes i have the latest quicktime and drivers for my graphics card. yes i have claimed ownership of the folders the files are in and i dont think u should have to attempt this for every file on a 1tb external hardrive.

so please can someone help. Ive read this forums and seen a lot of users seeking help get abuse.

how do you put the words that you want in the video while playing the video. example. in music videos they have the words at the bottom left of the artist and the song and some other info while the video is playing. how do you render that?

Answer:vegas problem:words on video

In those music videos they're probably using a fairly expensive peice of equipment called a Tricaster that overlays that text on the screen.

You can add your own text to video when you're making them. I have Studio and Premiere Elements so I don't know how you do it exactly in Vegas but in the two I have I just click on the add or insert text/title and put a simple line or two in where and for however long I want it to display. Then when I make the video or burn it to DVD its in the video.

I have a friend who has the following system specs and problems, so if you guys could help that would be great. He send me his specs and the following synopsis of the problem.

Alright here are the specs:
Motherboard - Gigabyte GA-K8NS Ultra-939
Ram - 1024 mb Geil DDR PC3200
Cpu - AMD Athlon 64 3500+ 939 socket
Video Card - Visiontek Xtasy 9600 256mb DDR

Heres the issue, I am running Adobe Premiere 6.5 on my computer, and I'm having trouble with the video rendering, but when I earlier had a ATI 9000 64 MB video card everything ran smoothly. I recently upgraded from an older computer, but I've put the older video card in the new system and everything runs fine. Everything on the newly built computer runs excellent, including Half Life 2 and so forth, all extensive processes. But whenever I play through a render video on Adobe Premiere it seems to jump and when the video hits an area that is not render it can lead to freezing. It has never frozen enough to disable my program. I'm using the Catalyst 4.11 drivers downloaded from the Visiontek website. Any attempt to downoad and install the Catalyst 5.4 drivers from ATi's website results in the computer crashing. What could be causing this probblem?

Answer:Help for a rendering problem

When you try to play a non-rendered portion of video obviously it's going to lag as its trying to play non-rendered data on the fly. If you're trying to load a ton more effects than you did before (because of your new system) that will make it crash too. For the life of me, i can't remember if adobe renders through gpu or cpu. Liquid 6 wont let you play (or cant rather, at least on my system) until it finishes rendering. You're going to want the newest drivers for your card, the catalyst 5.4 is what you really want. Does it crash on install or on download?

I am trying to install Song Vegas 8 onto my Windows Vista via the installation disk.I have been having several small issues, first it takes forever to start installation and then when it does FINALLY begin installing I receive this message "Your system has not been modified. To install this program at a later time, please run the installation again" why does it do this? what does this mean? and what on earth do I do?

Also to try and combat this I have already e moved the start up file to the desktop and have been starting the installation manually. Also I deleted some files to ensure I had enough space.

what on earth should I do???? I have been trying for three weeks to get this to work, I know it's probably a simple fix but I have no idea what on earth to do!

Answer:Sony Vegas 8.0 - Installation Problem "Your System has not been Modified"

*note to mods* if this is in the wrong place, I apologize -- please move it.

hey all. i am working on a project for a friend where I am taking a promotional DVD for his organization and making smaller (relatively) DivX-encoded files for his employees to store on PCs and take with them.

Basically, he wants his clients (and some staff members who do not have DVD drives) to be able to take the video with them and show on-site to folks.

I successfully ripped the DVD down to MPEG just fine. then, I DivX encoded it, leaving the final video size right at 1.5 GB. However, the target laptops (P3-700MHz, 256MB RAM, 8MB VRAM, Windows 2000 SP4) cannot play the videos. I can successfully play videos smaller (about 600MB) than 1GB on the laptops though. however, whenever I attempt to play the large file, Windows media player just simply crashes. I also tried Media Player Classic and it crashes too.

Interestingly, I copied the large file over to my personal desktop box (Athlon FX-55, 1.0GB RAM, 256MB VRAM, Windows 2000 SP4) and it plays just fine--quite beautifully, actually.

Could it be the amount of system RAM that is hurting the laptops? If so, how can I get around this?

I made sure I have the latest DivX codec and I also have the latest Windows Media Player and updates on the target laptop, but still no dice.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

might be worth a go on one of those laptops as a test since its doesnt seem to be a hardware issue

The Symptoms

Okay I am taking a multimedia class and for extra credit my teacher gets us to use a support forum to get the answer to a specific question. The question this time is :

In Sony Vegas 5.0 What is a Crossfade? And is there a way/tool to create an automatic crossfade?

So if anyone could help it would be much apprieciated. i need the answer written in the forum. no links to other places otherwise i won't get the credit for doing this.

Thanks to all that help

Answer:Sony Vegas 5.0 Help

In the time line if you take two images/videos and overlap them you'll kinda see an "X" form and that will crossfade from one to the other.

Hey Everyone and thank you very much for visiting my thread, hopefully you'll be able to solve my problem....

I Have an HP Pavillion Laptop with Windows Vista 32bit SP2 Home Premium
I've had it for two years now and it's wonderful.

Well except for two things....
1) I'm a film major and I use Windows version of Adobe Premier, which is Sony Vegas Pro 9. The program was working fine when I first got it, but recently it continuously becomes non-responsive. I make one or two moves, and the whole program just freezes...the "window message" pops up and I have to close down the program.
-Now I?ve tried programming my computer making SV (sony vegas) the highest priority when it's running, but so far it doesn't help.
- I also run Adobe After Effects on my computer and it works perfectly fine, but I only use that for motion graphics instead of the video editing

2) When ever I do run SV, my fan goes crazy and my computer heats up! I bought an external fan, but it does not seem to help. (And yes I know my CPU fan is working properly because you can practically hear it. And I clean it every month)

...and in all honesty, i really don't want to spend $$$ for a Mac.

Because I know you?re going to ask here are my computer specs:
OS Name: Microsoft? Windows Vista? Home Premium
Version: 6.0.6002 Service Pack 2 Build 6002
System Model: HP Pavilion dv6700 Notebook PC
System Type: X86-based PC
Processor: AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual-Core Processor ... Read more

Answer:Bad Sony Vegas, Bad.

Welcome to Vista Forums!

I use Sony Vegas Pro 9 too, and iv'e never experienced anything like that...

When does the problem happen, like when your rendering the movie?

I'm just thinking here, when the program freezes, leave it for a while, 10 minutes maybe, when you try to close or stop the program from doing anything, it "confuses" the computer even more.

Hope this helps you,
And please remember to post back with what you have tried,
Daniel =)

Question: Sony Vegas Help!

hey guys, i need some help in vegas pro 9. i recently downloaded two short clips off of youtube using "youtube downloader" and it saved them as two .mp4 files. i imported them into vegas in an attempt to merge the two clips together for viewing simplicity. upon exporting, i noticed that the video quality DRASTICALLY dropped when i used the same format (.mp4), however, when i tried using .wmv, the quality was equal to the original. can someone explain this to me? (im a complete noob at video)

*also, can someone recommend a format that will yield the BEST quality, at all costs
**is there a hierarchy of video formats? if so, can someone tell me?

thx guys.

I do not have that software, but it could be down to the export settings for that file type.

Question: Sony Vegas

Hi guys,
I have accidentally changed some settings in Vegas. For some reason when I add a video effect (ie brightness) to the clip, it will no longer show the effect of the video effect (on the timeline) until I render the clip. I've had all the settings go back to default layout but it still won't show up. Very frustrating. If anyone can help me out it would be greatly appreciated.
