Solved: Uninstall J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 12

Question: Solved: Uninstall J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 12

Hello
I need help uninstalling J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 12.
It is not listed under Add/Remove Programs.
There is an icon in the system tray, as well as an icon in the Control Panel.

I even tried Windows Installer CleanUp Utility but when it listed the programs to uninstall, Java was not listed.

Help would be appreciated!

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Thanks !

Hi

I have J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 3 listed on my Add/Remove programs list and I really want to get rid of it. However, it has no 'Remove' button and I Can't actually find any other proof that it exists anymore on my computer (searches for any file with that name have thrown up nothing).

Would appreciate any advice as to how I can find and delete this program.

Answer:J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0

Yes, you should install Sun Java 2 Standard Edition Runtime Environment 1.5.0.06, and you should also uninstall all older versions from the Add/Remove Programs list afterwards.

Without this program, many websites will not display properly.

J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 4 (118 mbs)
J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 5 (118 mbs)
J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 6 (119 mbs)

Do I need all three of these?

Answer:J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Updates

JRE 1.5.0_6 was a security update to fix a potential exploit; http://secunia.com/advisories/18760/

The Sun website states that old versions can be kept, but the advice I have seen at various forums was to remove earlier versions because they could still be vulnerable.

I would like to install the English version which I have not too long downloaded. Can anyone tell me (explain) if all I have to do is to uninstall the installed version and then install what I have just downloaded. That appears to be the obvious thing to do but not quite sure.
Thanks for an expert advice / explanation.

My internal hard drive has only 13% free space and I am trying to free up space. The list of installed programs holds three J2SE updates that I wanted to delete. When I do I receive Error 1327.Invalid Drive:E:\. The list of programs on Add/remove does not list many programs that are on the system.

I had a Western digital My Book Essential 250 external hard drive that disappeared from my computer and would not be recognized by others so I presume it was bad. I had copied most of my music and documents to that external drive. The music is not available now that the external drive is toast but my documents are.

How can I remove these files and manually ininstall other programs to free up more space on my drive?

Answer:Cannot Remove J2se Runtime Environment 5.0 Updates

The solution here may be to purchase another hdd, from what you are saying there isn't much that you are willing to delete. If you add the second hdd as a slave to your existing hdd you can transfer files directly with a minimum of fuss.

Answer:J2SE Runtime Environment. Quick Question

Hi, I hope this page is for what you are updating, seems to be (Sun is not the easiest place to hunt around in)

http://java.sun.com/j2se/faq.html#AutoSoftware

Does the software update from Sun erase my previous version of Java?
No. It installs a newer version of the Java Runtime Environment while leaving the existing versions intact. For example, a client machine can have the J2SE versions 1.3, 1.3.1, 1.3.1_02, and 1.4 installed at the same time without conflict. This is useful for when application provider A has only certified their application on version 1.3, while application provider B requires version 1.4 for additional features or functionality. There are no conflicts or collisions between JRE versions, as they all peacefully co-exist.Click to expand...

Hi;

Java auto update updated version 5.0 twice, "Update 8" and "Update 10". Is this the same update duplicated or are these two different updates? I ask because they are both listed individually in my "Add or Remove Programs" listing, and at 145.00MB each, I am wondering if I can remove the earlier/older update (actually, I would have expected the older version to have been automatically removed when the more current version was installed, or it would just do an overwrite). I also checked to see if this was the most current version on Java's homepage, and despite having what is indicated by my
Java auto update as the most current version, the Java home page indicates I have the older 4.1 version (versus what I know is installed- version 5.1.) is this a conflict of some kind?

Any help would be appreciated!

I have the latest version of Java (7.25), but this appears in add/remove, also.

Another post prompted me to ask if it's safe to remove this Java program. Not sure if this is an older removable version using a different name (newer versions are labeled "Java 'version number and update here'") or if the updates are added to this as part of a Java framework or whatever...

Googled and found only old references that weren't specific enough for me to be able to discern exactly what this program is...:-o

Answer:Java 2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 6

Java 7 update 25 in add/remove programs is legitimate. You should also see a Java icon in your control panel to quickly enable and disable java.

I prefer to use JavaRA to remove all Java.
http://www.majorgeeks.com/files/details/javara.html
Java used to be extremely poor at removing old versions when it updated. I think this was finally fixed in v 7, update 22. Before that, a computer might have several updates of v6 and several updates of v 7 that were security risks.

Note: I do not recommend using JavaRA to install the latest version. I did that once and got an out of date version so I had to run it again to clean off Java.

Not sure what Java to keep or delete before downloading the latest Java version.

Java allows you to play online games, chat with people around the world, calculate your mortgage interest, and view images in 3D. These applications, written in the Java programming language and access from your browse, are called ?applets?. Corporations also use Java applets for intranet applications and other e-business solutions. Java is used by companies in all major industries. Whether deployed on cell phones, embedded devices, game consoles, laptops, or in datacenters, Java offers the rich user interface, performance, versatility, portability, and security that today?s networked applications require. Java Platform Standard Edition software is the premier platform for rapidly developing and deploying secure, portable applications that run on server and desktop systems spanning most operating systems. JRE contains the Java virtual machine, runtime class libraries, and Java application launcher that are necessary to run programs written in the Java programming language.

Just recently I've come across several websites (sites that I have used regularly for years) that give me the following message:

This webpage wants to run the following add-on: 'Java SE Runtime Environment 7 Update 25' from 'Oracle America, Inc'

I let it slide for a while but it seems like the sites did that every time I logged on so I let it run.

It got installed and I went to Java's website to verify the installation. The installation was verified and Control Panel - Programs and Features lists the program as of yesterday 6/20/13.

Today I go on to one of my usual sites and get the same message.

Any ideas?

Hi Frank,

My understanding is that this environment is for application development suitable for the Sun Developers URL you provide in your second link. If you are not developing Java applicatons then one only needs to download the latest J2RE Runtime environment in order to run Java applications.

The latest J2RE environment is 1.5.0 update 4 available from here. The file size is 82KB. Unfortunately, I cannot find a separate JRE update 5 at the Sun Developers URL.

FileHippo's update checker tells me that the latest version is Java Runtime Environment 8.0 build 5 (32-bit) 29.67MB, and that the version installed on my XP machine is 7.0.550.14.0, which is correct.

However, the java.com website tells me that the latest version is Version 7 Update 55.

After downloading the file file suggested by FileHippo, through their site, and running it, I am presented with the message

"The procedure entry point RegDeleteKeyExA could not be located in the dynamic link library ADVAPI.dll"

I ran the Java site's tool to check for and remove older versions - there were none, leaving version 7.0.550.14.0 installed.

I uninstalled it with IOBits' uninstaller, and started again from Java's site - which, of course, installed the version I had just removed.

I then tried again to install the file downloaded via FileHippo, with the same results.

What can I do to overcome this?

I posted this question on the Oracle community website too, a couple of days ago, but have received no replies.

Hi all fist of all I cannot seem to install the latest Java Java Runtime Environment 1.7.0.1 (32-bit)

So I thought I would uninstall Java 7 but it wont let me.
The error I get is, Installation failed The Wizzared was interrupted Before Java (TM) 7 Update 1 could be completely installed. It says to try again well, I have tried many times and it does not work.

Could this be causing streaming to not work right? So frustrating.

Any help would be appreciated.

I have windows Vista home premium OS.

Thanks so much.

Answer:Solved: I can't install Java Runtime Environment 1.7.0.1 (32-bit)

That version of Java is for developpers and although it does work, it's not designed for the general public.

You should install Java Runtime Environment 1.6.0.29 (32-bit).
Try installing Java in Safe Mode with Networking (Java needs to access the Internet to install).

The Windows Installer service won't start in Safe Mode. You'll need to first download SafeMSI.

Run SafeMSI while in Safe Mode with Networking and install Java.

Afternoon everyone,

I'm attempting to use an AutoExec code that will execute certain functions when the database opens. However, I know that some people in the Office have the full version of Access, while others need to use the runtime environment to run the database. The problem with using the runtime environment is that the LockNavigationPane event in AutoExec won't execute because the navigation pane does not exist in the runtime environment, which then forces the database to close on a macro error.

I originally tried to use On Error Next in the AutoExec macro, but the runtime environment won't recognise that. So I was wondering if there is some way that I can tell the AutoExec macro to check whether the full Access program or runtime environment is being used, hence determine the code to be used.

So, basically I'm wondering if it's possible for the AutoExec macro to include a piece of code to determine whether the runtime environment is being used or not.

Thank you for your time.

I just got the latest update of J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0. It is update number 11. Now, I have already got the following previous updates: 1, 2, 4, 6, 9 and 10. My question: can I delete all of them or only some of them? Will this have any (negative) effects on my computer (Windows XP Home Service Pack 2, Internet Explorer 7)? Because I noticed that the updates seem to take up a lot of disk space since they are around 120 MB in size EACH!
If these updates are not necessary, why doesn't Java automatically uninstall the previous version...?

A month or so a go I downloaded a programme (I think it was an mp3 programme) and it required Java Runtime Environment in order to work. So I downloaded that. I also seem to have Java Web Start as well.

About the same time I started to have a lot of problems with the Internet, and posted on the Web and Email forum. What happened was I could connect to the Internet but could not open any sites or my email. (Host not found and Server error messages). This was an intermitent thing and did not always happen.

A couple of days ago I could not access a certain site at all. It would start to load, then freeze and eventually crash. In desperation I just left it for a while and when I came back I found the site had loaded. It took 5 minutes. Then I noticed a strange icon in the systray. It was Java Console. I opened this and it contained a list of things which didn't mean a lot to me, for example: c:clear console window and f: finalize objects on finalization queue and many more. The icon is still in the systray, there is no exit facility. Even if I close the box, the icon is still in the systray.

I am now having many more crashes than I ever had before, more in the last few weeks than in the last year.

I can't help thinking these programmes have something to do with my current problems. I have done everything to make sure my computer is clean, defrag, spider, scandisk, antivirus, reinstalled modem, checked with ISP tech support, checked internet settings and there is no... Read more

Hi, I'm a newbie and new here.

I have Windows XP, use Internet Explorer and Firefox as my browsers.

I detected on my Program List 2 (two) Java Runtime Environment programs:

1) J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 2

2) Java 2 Runtime Environment SE v1.4.2_03

My question is: Do I need them BOTH?

If not, which one needs to be deleted?

Thank you so much for your help.

Answer:Java Runtime Environment

No, you don't need both of them. Uninstall the older one (1.4.2_03). Even better, uninstall both, and install the latest version, update 4. You can download it here:

http://java.com/en/download/windows_xpi.jsp

I recommend the offline install.

Java software allows you to run applications called "applets" that are written in the Java programming language. These applets allow you to have a much richer experience online than simply interacting with static HTML pages.

Java Plug-in technology, included as part of the Java Runtime Environment, Standard Edition (JRE), establishes a connection between popular browsers and the Java platform. Java allows applications to be downloaded over a network and run within a guarded sandbox. Security restrictions are easily imposed on the sandbox. Many cross platform applications also require Java to operate properly.

Some time ago I installed the Java Runtime Environment (JRE) which
adds a plug-in to IE. I must have had a good reason for installing
it at the time, I just can't remember what it was!

Since it loaded shortly after IE it became a nuisance, so I removed the
check mark from Tools > Internet Options > Advanced. I haven't thought
about it much until now.

Is is worth uninstalling the old version of JRE and installing the new?
(1.4.2 is the latest version.) In other words, does Windows run any
better with JRE installed? As far as I can tell, it just adds another
uneeded process to an already bloated and sluggish browser.

Answer:IE & Java Runtime Environment

It all depends. There are certain pages and applications that you can see only if you are using java. If you don't feel neglected by not being able to view them, then NO you don't need java. However, if you want to get the most out of your browsing experience you probably will want to use it.
If you decide to use it, uninstall what ever you have now in Control Panel -Add/Remove - java- and go here:

http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.2/download.html

and download J2SE v. l.4.2_06 JRE

Download it to your desktop and click to install.

Start > Run: msconfig > launch system restore

and select a calendar date prior to the installation.

I have never had any problems with my Java until I downloaded the newest version (7) the other day. Now, when I go on POGO.com and try to play most of the games I receive the following message:

The Java Runtime Environment cannot be loaded from
<C:\PROGRA~2\Oracle\JAVAFX~1.1RU\bin\server\jvm.dll>

I have uninstalled and reinstalled Java several times and that has not helped, and I have even gone to a few websites, including java.com, and followed some vague instructions that were supposed to solve the problem - all to no avail. Pogo is quite literally my lifeline to the outside world (yes, I know how that sounds,) since I am disabled and unable to leave my house without a lot of hassle. I am not a computer genius, but if someone knows how to fix this problem and can give me some clear instructions I would really appreciate it a lot. Of course, that is provided that it is a problem that can be fixed and not something that has gone wrong with my computer!! :cry I have a Toshiba laptop that is only about one year old. I use Windows 7 for my OS, and while I prefer Firefox or Chrome, I can also use IE, Safari, or Opera. I hope there is an answer to my problem, and hope to hear from someone soon!! :clap:clap

I reformatted like 6 months ago and am pretty sure I never had anythings called "Java" on my computer before that (that was the first and only reformat I have done this far and this drive). However, I visited a website a few months ago and it said I had to download this thing called Java to view it. So I did, and now I have a Java icon in my Control Panel and these two entries in my add or remove programs window:

J2SE Runtime Enviroment 5.0 Update 4

and

J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 6

I think they may have caused me to get a few viruses, but I am not sure as they have of course been deleted for some time.

So, to my question: What is this Java nonsense and can I get rid of it??

Answer:Java Runtime Environment??

JAVA is a very usefull peice of software, without it you canot view most web sites that require it, and you may have a virus from downloading it depending on where you downloaded it from.
