Adobe error {fixed typo}

Question: Adobe error {fixed typo}

I installed Adobe 8 and now all of my Desktop icons have the Adobe logo and will only open up Adobe, not my usual shortcuts, like word, excel, games etc...I tried uninstalling Adobe, which fixed the problem, but when I re-installed it came back again. I don't knw how to fix this...I'm new to all this! I'm running windows vista Help!

Preferred Solution: Adobe error {fixed typo}

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: Adobe error {fixed typo}

I'm not sure why that is happening but you can try and fix the icons by right clicking on the programs that are displaying the incorrect icons, select properties>change Icon and find the correct one

Memory corruption caused by an unknown driver. Please run memtest and driver verifier.

Download a copy of Memtest86 and burn the ISO to a CD using Iso Recorder or another ISO burning program.

Boot from the CD, and leave it running for at least 5 or 6 passes.

Just remember, any time Memtest reports errors, it can be either bad RAM or a bad motherboard slot.

Test the sticks individually, and if you find a good one, test it in all slots.

One of our staff created a PDF file and for some reason it is damaged. I tried to open it with Adobe Acrobat Pro, but no luck. It is a VERY important manual. Any help would be appreciated.

Answer:Adobe PDF file is damaged. How can it be fixed

If the manual is for a piece of equipment you can download it again from the manufacturer's website. If it's an "in house" compiled manual (eg training etc) that is damaged, there's a free online repair utility here: http://www.pdfaid.com/repair-pdf-fi...if that doesn't work, there are many more PDF repair softwares that you will find with a search engine, for example this is what Google Search found:https://www.google.com/search?q=rep...Be aware that many of them you have to pay for.If you had used a search engine in the first place, there would have been no need for you to submit your post.message edited by phil22

FORUM ADMINISTRATORS: If you need to relocate this post please do so. My problem dealt with Software & Apps & self solved so I wrote it here think it may help someone else.

I recently upgraded my somewhat dated PC recently with a new MB, CPU, RAM & GPU with a clean install of Windows 10, 64-bit. After reinstalling Photoshop CS6 & setting up Preferences I encountered an odd problem. After starting PS a new file window would pop-up out of the blue without being prompt to do so. It was driving me crazy.

So, I tried to resolve this through Adobe, searching their forum for help. There was nothing posted about a new file window popping-up upon starting PS. Then I though I'd try opening the 32-bit version of PS. There wasn't a new file window pop-up using the 32-bit version! But after setting up PS Preferences the same way I have for years & sure enough the 32-bit had that same new file window would pop-up now.

At lease I had a clue now. It had something to do with Preferences but I couldn't imagine what. All I did was toggle on "Use Mouse Wheel to Zoom IN & Out" & changed the scratch disk to a different drive. Those seemed harm less.

Back to Adobe & there someone recommended deleting the Preferences to reset them. Well, this worked until I set Preferences to "Use Mouse Wheel to Zoom IN & Out" & changed the scratch disk again!

Back to Adobe once more but this time I changed the search away from the new file upon PS st... Read more

Critical Vulnerability Fixed in Adobe Flash Player
Recently, Adobe released a patch, which fixes multiple vulnerabilities for Adobe Flash Player.

Since Adobe Flash Player is used in enterprise environments and some of the reported vulnerabilities may allow code execution, my Binary Analysis team has spent some time analysing the patch in order to properly understand the fixed vulnerabilities.

In the advisory from Adobe, two vulnerabilities are listed as potential code execution vulnerabilities. For the first vulnerability (CVE-2009-0520), it is stated that a buffer overflow "could potentially allow an attacker to execute arbitrary code". For the second vulnerability (CVE-2009-0519), it is stated that an input validation error "leads to a Denial of Service (DoS); arbitrary code execution has not been demonstrated, but may be possible".

It turns out that at least one of them is quite nasty and does indeed allow remote code execution in a very reliable manner.

Due to the limited publicly available information, we cannot be certain whether the vulnerability analysed is CVE-2009-0520, CVE-2009-0519, or even a third, silently fixed vulnerability.

However, we are certain that the vulnerability is related to how callback functions are handled and may result in data in arbitrary memory being treated as an object. S... Read more

Adobe Hasn’t Fixed Acrobat, Reader Vulnerabilities

Adobe says that it is not sure when a fix will be ready for the critical flaw in its products that could lead to your system being hijacked by hackers. The company hopes to have a fix available by the end of the month.

In an October 5 posting on its Web site, Adobe said the "critical" flaw is incorporated into versions of Adobe Reader and Acrobat software, and could allow malicious programs to get on to a PC without the user knowing about it.

Okay helping a friend via long distance phone calls and the random email. This is the only info I have, if someone could shed some light on this and help, we both would appreciate it. Here is the email she was able to send:

"Still messing with that damn trojan. AVG sees it and asks the usual, delete, heal, or move to vault. No matter how many times I choose delete, or heal or even move, it comes back again and again. This is what was causing my IE to try and dial out (at least, that's what I get from looking online for info on this damned thing) and share my info with the hacker. Avast does not seem to see...this file. It is saving itself (and apparently restoring itself) in my Windows folder as a dll file. prntsvr.dll to be exact.

The name AVG gives is PSW.Dumarin.C. The last thing I tried was to turn my
system restore off, delete the file and re-start... but guess what? lol, Yep, it is still there. *sigh* Why do people have to make these things???"

Question: Microsoft Typo

Microsoft made a typo in their WinSAT application, How can we let them know about it?

Answer:Microsoft Typo

Hi Steven,

You can try contacting them by following the link below. Whether or not you will get a response I cannot say. I have managed to locate the error in the 'WinSAT.exe' file (notice the space between the letters), and you can edit it to replace the erroneous 'o' with an 'i', however by doing so you will probably cause it to fail an SFC scan. In my opinion, it is such a minor error that it is probably best left ignored.

I mistyped a url earlier (I believe i typed 'radiosahck' instead of radioshack) and was redirected to a strange website (something about internet surveys I believe) I closed it right away and did a quick scan with malwarebytes to make sure nothing was wrong, and it came up empty. I'm probably being a bit paranoid here, but is this anything to really worry about?

Answer:Odd URL typo redirect...

Redirects can be something to worry about, as you have no idea what content is being hosted on the re-direct. Most popular anti virus programs, have real-time scanning, where it's constantly scanning your computer, and as soon as you're redirected to a bad website, it will block any content that's harmful to your computer. I use Eset and it does this.

Hi can someone please help clear up my concerns because I accidentally interned the wrong DNS address on my new router.
After entering this typo I almost immediately that my connection was unstable especially on Linux and yesterday evening when I logged back into my router the DNS settings were set to there defaults. But I was able to surf the web kinda in Windows though it timed out often and certain webpages wouldn't even open, and now when ever I enter the correct DNS settings it disconnects from the internet.

Here's what I entered

222.67.222.222
220.67.220.220

Instead of

208.67.222.222
208.67.220.220

I'm really feeling uneasy and stressed about this, any advice?

Why does stuff like this happen whenever your in poor health or any other of life's trials and complications?

Answer:Open DNS typo on router

Two things you might check:

1. In Windows, do your Network Properties have a DNS Server entry(s) that point(s) to your router (probably 192.168.1.1 or close) or do they point to the published OpenDNS IP addresses? Easy check: From an Elevated Command Prompt: ipconfig /all

2. After you corrected the DNS router entries, did you have the router do a cold reboot?

I believe you shouldn't overly stress yourself over this if you didn't make any financial transactions. But new passwords could be needed.

So I was browsing around in Windows Defender (Windows Settings > Update & Security > Windows Defender > Open Windows Defender Security Center > Virus & threat protection > Virus & threat protection settings, then scroll down to Controlled folder access.)

The sentence "Protect your files and folders from unauthorized changed by unfriendly applications" has a typo in it.
(Refer to the attached picture)

Either:
? The word "changed" has a typo in it and should be the word "changes" (with an 's' instead of a 'd'), or
? There is at least one missing word in between the words "unauthorized" & "changed"
Somebody should inform Microsoft about this typo.

But Also: I noticed that this is a new option, since the last time I was browsing around in there. What does this option exactly do? It was originally off, but I turned it On. Yet I must say that I have seen a few messages pop up in the right corner of the screen, stating that Windows Defender blocked some programs from making changes. One of them showed explorer.exe from modifying the Favorites folder without me doing anything with Favorites. Exactly what does this option do? Is it kind of like some sort of strict "Firewall"? Because if so, then I like that.

Answer:HAH, I Found A Typo In Windows!

Mine says 'unauthorised' (but then it should in the UK) - still has the typo though

Blocks access to your files and documents by unknown apps (malware/ransomware). It's off by default because not all 'good' apps are in it's 'trusted' list. It takes a bit of fiddling to get all your apps to work after you turn it on.

Hello everyone,

I am experiencing the red typo lines when there are no typos. This happens on occasion when I'm typing emails and posting or responding to forums. It seems to occur when there is an actually typo and I correct the error. After that the entire post/email from that point on will have the red typo lines.

For example it is happening now... I'll try to post a pic for a better understanding.

Has anyone experience this as well and most importantly does anyone know of a solutions to this?

My unit is new and I have yet to DL Office 365 so I don't have Word. Not sure if that will matter.

Any input is greatly appreciated. Thanks

Hi,

I am having a problem when i misspell URLs.

When i type things like google.con instead of .com, i am redirected to a host of different search sites, including searchathand.com, and daplaces.com. I am pretty sure i must be infected with something, but i have ran several online and offline spyware and malware scanners and nothing seems to find a problem.

I am running Firefox version 1.5.0.6, but the problem also occurs in IE as well.

Advise please!

Cheers

Joel

Edit: I seem to have found what i think is the culprit for this...but this leads to another problem.

There is a HJT entry stating

for your information:

Spyware authors and phishing fraudsters yanked an old scam out of the playbook Wednesday by directing malicious code at Internet users who may be prone to typing or spelling deficiencies, according to security researchers.

Finnish security firm F-Secure said they discovered an attack aimed at Web surfers attempting to land on Google's (Quote, Chart) homepage, but who may have mistyped the Web address.

Internet users who punch in "Googkle.com" are treated to a host malicious code, as the computer gets slammed with a heap of the unwanted software that is automatically downloaded and installed. The malware includes: Trojan droppers, Trojan downloaders, backdoors, a proxy Trojan and a spying Trojan. A few adware-related files are also installed, the firm said.

NAME: Googkle
ALIAS: Googkle.com

Summary

F-Secure staff has found a malicious website that utilizes a spelling error when typing the name of the popular search engine - 'Google.com'. If a user opens a malicious website, his/her computer gets hijacked - a lot of different malware gets automatically downloaded and installed: trojan droppers, trojan downloaders, backdoors, a proxy trojan and a spying trojan. Also a few adware-related files are installed.

The name of the malicious website is 'Googkle.com'. PLEASE DO NOT GO TO THIS WEBSITE! Otherwise your computer will get infected! We have reported the case to the authorities.

Detailed Description

Our investigation revealed that the whole infection starts from the 'googkle.com' website. This website, as well as a few related websites are owned by people with Russian names. Also several malicious files that are downloaded from these websites have Russian texts.

When the 'googkle.com' is opened in a browser, it shows 2 popup windows that are linked to the following websites:

Hi everyone who is having this isse, I got this issue for months, I spent alot of time to search for the solutions, I found a lot of here but can not fix my issue, I think you did, too. but today, when I decided to remove all of the FingerPrint softwares, you guys please notice that, when the Fingerprint software is disabled, your login windows will become normal as windows XP style. If it apprears in your system, the log in windows can be looked different. When I removed all of that software, I restart and problem has gone. But I am not sure 100% that it is the problem or not. May be we should report to LENOVO or IBM that they can upgrade the driver for Fingerprint or fix the bug in the fingerprint software. Please try this then let me know the result. Thanks.

Answer:FIXed:T400 Lenovo can not log in when wake up from suspend or sleep time FIXed ( but not sure 100%)

I forgot to let you know about how was the issue: - When we leave the laptop for about 45 minutes or more than that, and we wake it up, the windows showed the "this computer is being locked by <account> only that account or Administrator can unlock" etc... - Then we press Ctrl + Alt + Delete, and then nothing happens, only a blue screen without anything, the only way that we have to do is hold the power button until the laptop is off then back on. and I fixed that problem via uninstalling all of the Fingerprint softwares. I hope that LENOVO or IBM can upgrade the software and fix that bug.

Is there a way to tell Microsoft Word to "guess" what I mean every time I make a typo? For example, I type "tsanding," and instead of changing it to "standing," it underlines it red. I know I can then right-click it, and select AutoCorrect > standing, so that, from now on, if the same exact typo arises in the future, in which I accidentally type "tsanding," it'll change it to "standing." I've thus far collected *hundreds* of specific typo corrections in this way. But that's very time-consuming, and is only a weak attempt at preventing typos I may be likely to make in the future (based on the fact that I made the exact typo at least once before). Is there any way to establish that I want Microsoft Word to go ahead and correct every single "underlined red" occurrence from now on, based on its best guess as to what I meant? (except in cases where the typo was so bad that it has no guess at all) That way, when it corrects something I *didn't* want corrected, I can then go back and add what I wanted to its dictionary, to tell it not to consider that word an accident from then on.

Answer:Is there a way to tell Microsoft Word to "guess" what I mean every time I make a typo?

Found this in the Word Help files. On the Tools menu, click AutoCorrect Options. In the Replace box, type a word or phrase that you often mistype or misspell ? for example, type usualy. In the With box, type the correct spelling of the word ? for example, type usually. Click Add. Is this what you're talking about?

So I upgraded to Windows 10 Pro from Windows 8.1 Pro on my desktop, I also made sure to log in with a Microsoft account and even checked my activation status after the upgrade was complete and it showed as activated. So then I downloaded the ISO and burned it to a disc and did a fresh install of Windows 10. During his installation I was asked for a product key multiple times and to my knowledge this wasn't supposed to happen, so my Windows 10 is currently unable to activate and I'm receiving the 0xC004C003 error code. After reading through the forums I found that MS is having an issue with their activation servers, but it has been almost two days since launch. Was anyone able to resolve this issue or knows if MS has fixed their servers yet?

Answer:Has the 0xC004003 error been fixed yet?

Hello, same problem here updated from a genuine windows 8.1 to windows 10, successful activation then i decided to do a clean install from an USB drive, installed correctly BUT not activated yet same error code 0xC004C003. It has been 2 days now and I'm starting to think that there isn't a solution.

I am working on a friend's computer - they were getting a "Windows cannot find "null". Make sure you typed...." error when clicking on links in IE. I have resolved that issue but am concerned about what caused the problem. There were some strange things on the pc; in addition to the C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer folder there was a C:\Program Files\Internet Folder folder. IE would not start from the iexplore.exe in the IE folder, but it would start from the iexplore.exe in the Internet Folder. IE is working fine now, but I want to make sure there is no malware on the pc. Before IE was working again, I did run MalwareBytes, AdAware and the eset online scanner. Nothing significant was found by MalwareBytes or AdAware and the eset scan was clean. Could you please check the DDS files and let me know if there is something that needs to be done? Thanks!

So I decided to buy Windows 7 from eBay. I didn't trust the people selling product keys only, so I purchased a brand new retail package. When I shop on eBay, I always look for sellers that are really close to me so shipping is fast. So I found a seller, said to be located in Maryland (which is two states away from me), with a great price and great feedback for his W7 sells. I was pissed because when the guy sent me the tracking number, I found out that the item was coming from Beijing, China, not Maryland! But I figured, well at least he shipped it.

THEN, I get an email from eBay saying the listing for the item I just purchased because the copyright holder reported that the item may be a counterfeit. At first I was pissed at eBay because now I had to record of the transaction in my eBay account and could not contact the seller directly from within the item invoice, since eBay deleted. Plus, he had several other sells of this same item, all with positive feedback of the W7 package, and eBay did not remove the listings for them. So I was like, why me? Luckily, I had his email from paypal and contacted him. He assured me that he is the legal owner of the item and that he sent proof to eBay saying so. Still never got my records back.

Anyway, this prompted me to search counterfeit Windows 7 retail packages. I found some interesting info, but my package doesn't fit any of the counterfeit profiles Microsoft says to look out for. The top hologram is built onto the ... Read more

Well, I did some research, and i ended up downloading a knoppix CD for the ntfsfix tool. So, i ran that, and it works, sort of. When i boot up windows, chkdsk wants to run, and i allowed it. So, it does its business, takes a really long time, maybe 2 hrs. everythings normal, then it wants me to shut down, so i do that, and windows restarts. When that happens, the 0x00000024 error occurs again. So, i redo the ntfsfix command form knoppix and get it working again. If i skip the chkdsk, windows works perfectly fine, but anytime i restart the PC the chkdsk tries to run again. What should i do from here? i don't really know what specific question TO ask. but, is the ntfs fixed, and i just need to terminate the chkdsk at startup, and if so, how do i do that? or is there something else i should be asking?

Answer:Fixed 0x00000024 error... sort of?

When chkdsk runs does it find any errors or bad sectors on the drive?

I had recently encountered the famous NTLDR missing error and as far as i know i was successful in copying the file back to where it needed to be but im now faced with a new problem.

my copmputer refuses to boot. When i turn it on it just shows the booting screen (where you see all of the computers statistics or whatever) then acts like itll boot but then just returns to the main booting screen in an endless cycle.

PLEASE help me if you know the cause or are able to help in anyway. my email is [email protected]

thanks,
paige

Answer:NTLDR error fixed but cpu not booting

I would first think master boot record is messed.
you have to ask why did you loose the ntldr files
on boot machine may not be seeing hard drive
if sata drive the drivers could be corrupted
same if scsi drive ,but not as likely.
If you have a small system and have your drive OS seperate from important files reformat and reload windows then reload all your programs<---thats the easy way<---
there are lots of dos boot utlitys that may get you back up but there will probably be hardware driver issues.
the boot looping that I have encountered comes from hardware driver software issues and 2nd ,not as common, bad hardware issue

I have windows xp home edition. On websites where banners and ads and sometimes pictures should be, I get an action canceled error. I do not have a pop-up blocker on, all security settings are default, and third party extensions are enabled. This error only occurs in IE6. In my AOL browser, this is not a problem. Hi to all:
I have started getting a pop up box anytime I go to close out a website or close anything out. It has in the box: The instruction at 0x02ae31ae could not be read. Click on OK to terminate. Click on CANCEL to debug. Other boxes have popped up with the same wording except they will have: 0x027131ea or 0x026f31ea with the memory could not be written. I can x them out but cant get rid of them. Also, few yrs ago my computer was infected and had to clear everything out by a professional and restart it. They had me to do the program hijack this which I kept but I forget what boxes they said I needed to put a checkmark in to delete it. I as you can probably tell, not computer savvy. I have searched the web and this forum for a solution to my problem. Here it is. I have an old Gateway computer that had 95 OS on it. It has a Pentium II with a 4 GB hard drive. I have not used this computer in years and sometime last year I decided to clean the hard drive of data by formatting it as I was going to give the computer to a family member. I can't remember exactly what I did last year and now I can't access the hard drive. I have a boot disk and have tried to run FDisk from the A drive. That's where I get the message: "Error reading fixed disk". I have looked at the Bios setup Utility and it does see the hard drive. I can hear the hard drive spin very briefly and I have checked the connections to the hard drive and motherboard. I have read the procedure on how to format the hard drive and I know I did not follow that procedure. I think I might have just gone to a command prompt and typed in format C: I know now that was wrong but can I recover from that mistake?

Answer:Error reading fixed disk

Have you set the jumper to right setting e.g master /slave and plugged it to the right connector on the ide cable?

Hi,
I have an edge 11 notebook and I'm trying to install a new ssd in place of the existing magnetic drive.
I removed the old drive and added the new one without any issues but I get "Error 200; Failure Fixed Disk" on startup.

I've read up online about this error and the 2 main causes seem to be an incorrectly inserted drive or a damaged drive. I don't think either of these apply in my case. I know the drive is undameged since I can connect it through USB and it works as expected. I also don't think it's incorrectly inserted since the error message contains the brand name of the drive, which must have been read from the drive itself.

I've attached an image of the error message. Can anyone tell me what might be wrong or suggest some further steps to troubleshoot the issue?

Thanks!

I'm having some difficulty trying to replace my hard drive for my Sony Vaio TZ series. My hard drive was MK1011GAH and the one I purchased was MK1234GAL.

I purchased a replacement from Ebay and I made sure it was a same type of hard drive. I booted it up after I successfully installed my hard drive. However, I got an error message saying Error 200 : failure fixed disk. I did some research and the common answer were the hard drive was either bad or dying. I sent a message to the seller but all he said was the disk wasn't compatible with my Vaio even though there was a list saying my "old" MK1011GAH would be compatible with the one that I purchased.

Long story short, it is possible to get this error if my pc and hard drive is incompatible? At least CMOS detects the hard drive so I am assuming is not about cable being loose. (I already checked many times)

thank you in advance

Answer:Getting a Error 200 : failure fixed disk

I would put the possibility that the Seller sold you a defective HD high on the list of explanations for your current situation. Was the HD sold as "new"? Was there a warranty? Post link to Seller's page so we can read the fine-print. Did you pay with PayPal (please say yes)?

In general terms, HD's come in two sizes, big ones (3.5 inch) and little ones (2.5 inch), and in two types, SATA and IDE (also known as "PATA"). HD's are not manufacturer/model specific like other hardware might be. They are more universal in nature and for the most part a 2.5" SATA will work in any computer that needs a 2.5" SATA. In your case, your hard drive was a 2.5" PATA, and you probably could have replaced it with any 2.5" PATA. Note there are some exceptions to this (1.7" HD's, SCSI HD's, etc...) but they are the exception to the rule. You should check the manufacturer's specs on the support page for the specific model to see if there are any capacity limitations, etc.. (some older computers cannot recognize hard drives larger than "X" Gbytes), but at 100 Gbyte you are at the low-end of the pond and it's unlikely that a computer that can read a 100 Gbyte HD (the old one) cannot read a 120 Gbyte (the "new" eBay one you replaced it with).

Frankly, you should have purchased a new HD and gotten the increased likelihood that it was good when it arrived, as well as both the Vendor and Manufacturer's warranty. You also pr... Read more

When I try to reinstall xp I recieve this error message, "error reading fixed disk". Can someone explain how to correct this problem to a computer "dumbass"
Thank You

Answer:error reading fixed disk

kup,

Don't know anything about your environment! Particularly if it EVER worked OK?

I know that you are a beginner, but take a look at this article first, then come back with Q's and more info about what you may have done in the way of changes to your system, that may have led to this problem.

Give this a thorough read thru!!

For those that have upgraded MSE and have seen the following error on bootup in Event Viewer.

Session "Microsoft Security Essentials OOBE" stopped due to following error; 0xC000000D

here is the fix.

OK we have a fix. After MS worked on my PC for 4 hrs they got it fixed. Go to C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Microsoft Security Essentials\Support and delete MSSEOOBE.etl and reboot. After reboot this file should be recreated and the error should be gone. I have found that when you delete MSE this folder remains and the files get updated when you run MSE. It looks like the one file was not updating properly and causing the failure. After it was working I did another test. I deleted MSE and also all the files in the Support directory. I then reinstalled MSE and everything is still fine. If you look at the error under Detail it will point to this file.

Jim

Answer:MSE OOBE Event Error - Fixed

Well the error has returned. It worked great for a week then came back. Same fix will clear it but after a few boots it comes back. I have now dumped MSE and will wait for MS to produce a new version.

I got sucked into trying to fix a friends computer, seeing as I'm a bit more computer savvy than she is.

Her computer is an HP Omnibook XE3, if that makes any difference.

The control panel was missing. I restarted in Safe Mode, Administrator account. Did the regedit thing, got rid of the 'nocontrolpanel'. Ta-da! Control Panel is back! So I switch to regular user account. Not there... so I do the same thing for that account. Nothing happened. I'm still getting an error of 'This operation has been canceled due to restrictions in effect on this computer.'

The background on her account has changed to dark blue, and I can't adjust it. I get the same error message when I right click. Although, the property window does come up, I just can't change anything.

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Answer:Error message, fixed in administrator but nowhere else. :(

Change the account to admin temporarily, fix the registry again and switch it back to limited

Hello, I recently inherited a Lenovo T410 (2518), which was a former work computer. The warranty would have expired around mid last year, and I gather it had been in office use since around 2010. I don't think it would have been doing any intensive processor heavy work either. Soon after I got it, I started getting the "fan error" message when booting up, which I understand is quite common with these models. I gave the computer to a friend of a friend, who works in IT. He was able to fix the issue by taking the computer apart and spraying the fan with some kind of expensive silicone spray. What troubled me is that when he gave it back, he said that it could work for another 5 years or 5 minutes! He also said that if it were to fail again, it wouldn't be worth repairing. Has anyone else ever fixed their fan error in the same way, with good results? Or is it best to replace the fan - and if so, are there good instructions on how to do that? Thanks

Solved!

Go to Solution.

Answer:Fan error fixed, but for how long? (T410)

Welcome to the forum!

Replacing the fan - if and when it goes out again - is your best bet.

Depending on the exact type of your T410, the fan can be found for $50-75 online. That machine is worth at least $200, so spending an hour to replace the fan is time well spent. Not to mention the fact that the utility value of a T410 is way above its monetary one. It's still a lot of computer for most people's needs.

Good luck.

Hello!

I am holding onto a Packard Bell laptop now. Initially I face frequent hanging while using it. So after consulting Packard Bell, it was a harddisk problem. So I bought a new harddisk and got it installed into the laptop.

But heres the problem. I couldn't complete the installation of Windows onto the brand new HDD. I received an error once saying some winsxs error, and then the next error I received was during the bootup screen with the "Error 0200: Fixed Disk Failure".

Could it be this brand new harddisk of mine is faulty as well? Or could it be other hardware problems? I ran some RAM tests using gold memory ram test but the RAMs seems ok.

I would appreciate any help given. =D Thanks!

Answer:Error 0200 Fixed Disk Failure

Hi

Yes, it's definitely quite possible that the new hard drive is bad. Hard drives are finicky, and when purchasing them, I ALWAYS look for one with MANY good reviews. Even when getting "good ones" though, the occasional hard drive goes bad within a week.

If I were you, I'd RMA the new hard drive and try again.

Hey everyone. I have an IBM Thinkpad R32, and since about March 2008 I would on the odd occasion get a BsOD. Following that when the laptop tried to restart back into Windows, I would get a 'Error 0200: Failure Fixed Disk 0' message and I needed to leave the laptop off for a couple of minutes.

Three days ago the same thing happened again, however this time no matter how long I left the laptop off (with the exception of two times, however a BsOD would follow just after the Windows XP load up screen), the 'Error 0200: Failure Fixed Disk 0' message would once again appear. I was sure my hard drive was dead.

Fortunately, most of my files are either on my Home PC or iPod so I decided to format using the IBM Recovery Program.

Ever since the format, the laptop is working fine. I would have thought for sure, format or no format, I'd still get the message due to the hard drive being dead, or alternatively the IDE controller in the motherboard being faulty?

Are the messages going to reappear anytime soon? Is my hard drive still the cause? And if so, why is it working now?

Thanks.

Answer:Error 0200: Failure Fixed Disk 0

When did the message appear?

I wouldn't trust that drive with anything important. But if you want to make certain, test it.

I followed instructions on how to correct the spooling error, safe mode, deleting drivers for printer, etc. I am no longer getting the spooling error,I have reloaded all of the drivers, but if I go to print it stays in the queue and then gets an error and won't print. The printer is in the printer list and has a green check mark next to it. I have an HP laserjet and it shows the driver for it. However, I also have a hp photojet and it won't even recognize the driver. They were both working just fine and this happened all of a sudden. They are both connected by USB ports in the back of my computer. I don't know what else to do? Any help would be appreciated Thanks

Answer:Fixed Spooling Error/printer still not working

You can try the following steps:
1) uninstall drivers from the system.
2) go to c:\windows\system32\spool\drivers & rename the file by the name of W32X86 to
old.old
3) Check the registry for driver traces: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE -> SYSTEM -> CURRENT CONTROL SET -> CONTROL -> PRINT -> PRINTERS -> (if u see the printer listed over there, then delete it) -> then open ENVIRONMENTS folder -> Windows NT X86 -> Drivers -> Version3 -> if you see the printer listed over there then delete that folder.
4) Now restart the system & begin the driver installation.
5) If you still face the same issue then go to device manager & under universal serial bus controller & look for USB printing support & then right click on it & uninstall it.
6) Then restart the system.

I have Office 2007 and Visio Pro 2007, on Win7 64bit, but this fix works for other (e.g. XP) version as well.

Since I installed Win7, I've been having problems with updates to Office. The batch of Feb 8 2011 security updates today was no different.

I found this link Error code "0x80070646," "646," or "1606" when you try to install Office updates and it solved all my issues.

I hope this isn't already posted. I tried to search here but things are s l o w (I'm guessing due to the security updates today and questions/issues resulting from them.)

I wanted to pay this site back for the help it provided, so rather post a dup than keep it to myself.

Hi, a month ago I've been receiving a "Windows has recovered from a serious error" and thought it was an error caused by an emulation tool and virtual drive I installed. So I proceeded to uninstall them and the error went away however just today it came back with the so-called "dreaded blue screen error message" (read the quote from another site) smile.gif and I'm not quite sure what caused it?

Can I request for help in this matter? Thanks.

PS: I've forgot where to look for the minidump file where the said note of the error message was placed by windows. Showing me where it can be found would be greatly appreciated. Also, I've already followed the steps in Malware and Spyware Cleaning Guide before starting a new topic. Hope this is the correct forum. smile.gif

It allows me to press F2 to enter setup.

Haven't done anything.

Anyone got any suggestions how to get it running.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Answer:Error 0200 Failure Fixed Disk 0

very likely a hard drive failure but possibly a poor or faulty connection to the hard drive, and/or faulty motherboard controller

what does f2 do? reinstall from partition,, if yes then worth a go before you go to lappy hospital

enter the bios usually press detete on start up. see if the drive is recognised, if so it may be ok but motherboard gone

can you ectract the disc and install/test in another machine?

The top hologram is built onto the cds, no... Read more

Answer:My Windows 7 copy looks counterfeit. Typo on back cover. Came from China (eBay). Pics

It's fake, that's pretty obvious. The hologram thing is most likely a sticker on top of the actual disc surface - you can use a fingernail or razor blade at the very edge and lift it up a bit, that's 100% proof. The part numbers don't seem to match up with the actual Windows 7 Ultimate part number, and it just has a fake quality all the way around.

If you contact Microsoft, show them the pics, explain where you bought it from and your situation, there is a small - small but it exists - chance they'll provide you with a key just for making the report and identifying the seller you got it from.

No guarantees, but at the moment you're better off reporting it to them and going from there. Sure can't hurt to let them know, either way.

I'd report it, personally, without even really thinking about it. It just SCREAMS fake.

I actually found the answer to the question I was going to ask, which was why did the error occur in the first place. I had thought that ThinkVantage automatically updated itself and thus caused this problem, but I got into the settings and it doesn't look like any updates had ever been installed. Installshield had popped up periodically to tell me it was checking for updates, but then it would disappear with nothing happening. I disabled the automatic update, including the checking, as I would prefer to do it manually anyway. I had found on my internet search for a solution that others had experienced this problem. One person had been told by a Lenovo tech that they had to 'reinstall Windows', which certainly is far too drastic a step to take for one non OS program. BTW, when this error was occuring, I was also unable to access any of the Thinkvantage maintenance features, so it was a problem that needed correcting. At this point, I am posting this solution in case anyone else has this problem and is looking for one possible solution. Try restoring your system to a point prior to when the error started occurring, if you possibly can. Otherwise, I would suggest looking for a way to uninstall and then reinstall the ThinkVantage software.

but I still have some problems like windows firewall which when I try to turn on I get error :Windows Firewall can't change some of your settings. Error code 0x80070424.
Also I need to mention that while I was on step 8 on the instructions I couldn't check some options on gmer and I don't know if this is important, but there is an attached picture of how gmer looked like while scanning at the bottom. At this point Im scanning my pc and there are about 12 adware tracking cookies and Trojan Agent/Gen-MSFraud.
Also,I would like to ask why I can't uninstall some programs that were installed while pc was infected, when I try to unistall them from control panel I always get error messages.
So thank you for your help till now, I hope you could help me with these additional problems.

Okay, so I was browsing around the web the other day. My notebook completely locked up, and I had to hold in the power button for 10 seconds to do a hard shut down. A few hours later, I go to turn it on and I get this message after seeing the Compaq logo for about 5 minutes, along with three loud beeps.

So, I pop in my Windows XP Installation CD, trying to reinstall Windows, and I get the same thing, Compaq logo, Three beeps, then the error message.

So next I pop in Knoppix STD. Same thing, I can't do anything at all with my system. Anybody know what is going on and how I can fix it? Thanks!

Answer:Fixed Disk Parameter Table or BIOS Error

According to the information I'm finding on compaq beep codes http://bioscentral.com/beepcodes/compaqbeep.htm The three beeps means either video error or bad ram... (1 long 2 short for video , 1 short 2 long for ram).

Hi

It would seem that your hard drive might be faulty (again?)
Although since this is your second hard drive I would imagine that there is a problem with your laptop which is damaging the hard drives or a problem with the hard drive controller.

To test your hard drive you can download SeaTools from Seagate (I think you have a seagate hard drive, thats if you bought a similar hard drive. If not please let me know)
You can download the iso here http://www.seagate.com/ww/v/index.js...00dd04090aRCRD
Just burn this to a cd. Boot your PC from the CD and run the test.

The big problem is that if there is something wrong with the hard drive controller the test might fail even though the hard drive is fine. For a work around you would have to open the laptop, take the hard drive out and connect it to another pc. Then you can run the test on that pc.

If it is the hard drive controller or even a power problem on your laptop there is not much you could do to repair it short of sending it in to Acer or buying a new laptop.

I don't know if a BIOS update could solve the problem or if faulty memory could cause this. Maybe someone else could shed light on that.

Hey there!, I have has this nice bluetooth adapter for almost 2 years now, and have not tried to install again until now... I spent some time on it again, since my knowledge of computers has increased since then

If you try to install the drivers for this device, you may have noticed it doesn't work...
Well, I've figured out the solution to this madness...

First, install the drivers from belkin...

1) Go into the Device Manager
2) go to the bluetooth radios tab > right click on ur bluetooth device name
3) click on update the driver
4) Select no > install from a specific location > don't search
5) select the device "Belkin Bluetooth Device" > click next
6) Bluetooth away mate!!

This may work with other bluetooth devices, so just switch the names around

One of my Windows Server 2003 SP1 wasn't reporting its status to the WSUS server for more than a month. So I checked to see what is going on by running Windows Updates on the server in question locally. I was getting the Error: 0x800A0007 when I tried to download updates. I searched around and only found the following reasons:
1. Default language is set other than English
2. Date/Time was off significantly
3. Proxy was set.

And none of the above was the reasons. But it turned out that it was because the computer wasn't rebooted since the last update which required the computer to do to take effective. As soon as I rebooted it, the error disappeared.

I just wanted to share this information...

Answer:FIXED: Windows Update generate Error: 0x800A0007

Answer:fixed objects will move error in excel 2010

Do a Google search on "FIXED OBJECT WILL MOVE".It appears to be a somewhat common issue and could be caused by a number of things, such as comments, buttons, shapes, etc.Read some of the posts in other forums (found via Google) and see if that helps.Click Here Before Posting Data or VBA Code ---> How To Post Data or Code.

A week or two ago I encountered the Kernal Data Inpage Error blue screen event. I had the university brains look over it then remote Dell technical support. After the technician was done it seemed to be much better. Even a bit quicker! (This computer is nearing 1 year old. Alienware M14x laptop, Windows 7)

But the blue screen came again a couple times today while I was modding Skyrim. I did chkdisk, ccleaner (both cleaned and registry checked), disk defragmenter, disk cleaner, malware scan, and everything seems to have done what it was supposed to. No blue screens yet (i could try to provoke one with that same file?) but Skyrim is so much slower. Last night I was on high graphical settings with 40+ fps, now its lagging below 30fps. I did all of the above and a restart here n there. Still no fix.

What should I do to speed up my computer or take care of my corruption-friendly hard drive? Most of the stuff on it are on clouds, so i could theoretically wipe it if that's necessary.

Hello,

Has the "Event 513 error" issue been solved in the latest version of Macrium Reflect (Free)?
This version: 5.2.6433 (11 November 2013)

Event 513 errors in Windows 8.1

Possible Macrium Issue?

In any case, is it currently safe to use Macrium Reflect (latest free version), from the point of view of operating system integrity (with Windows 8.1)?
I'm a little scared that this "Event 513 error" issue could corrupt Windows 8.1 in some way.
Are you using Macrium Reflect Free with no problems?

Thanks.

Answer:Macrium Reflect: Event 513 error issue fixed?

Macrium says that the error does not affect the backup process.

I have not had any problems running manual backups using Windows 8.1.

Installed SP4 and security patch on a win2k box. Worm gone and svchost.exe errors gone. Now I'm getting this error:

This page provides potentially unsafe information to an ActiveX control. Your current security settings prohibit running controls in this manner. As a result, this page may not display correctly.

Everything in security is set to medium (like it was BEFORE the upgrades to close the wormhole). However, when I set everything to low or low-medium the problem continues.

HELP please.

Ok I ave a Acer Aspire 5100 series laptop. It recently gave me a bunch of errors about a fixed disk, and I came here for help. turns out the hard drive was failing so some of the members on this site told me to replace it. I had bought that previous one on ebay, which was a mistake. I just purchased a new 160gb EIDE hard drive from Western Digital. I installed XP on it but every few times I reboot the computer I get an error saying failed fixed disk 0200. I have read and some people say the motherboard, some say the connectors, cmos, etc....I really can't afford to continue to replace things in the computer if it's not broken in the first place. ow can I find out the root to tis issue without having to replace multiple things? I need tis computer for school and can't just afford to go buy a new one. Please help

Answer:Fixed Disk Error 0 - Brand New Hard Drive HELP!!

also if it's the motherboard thats failing, how long could this hard drive/computer last me? I would like to return my hard drive if the computer is just going to give me issues in a week, but if it will last me a few months/year with just giving me an error every so often I will keep t. Please any suggestions!!
